- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to the Daily Writer, where we help writers become authors of their own lives.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Here's a quick question for you.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: What if you could redeem just 30 minutes every day and use it to help create the writing life you've always wanted?
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Let's begin by thinking of some of the ways that you might already be wasting 30 minutes a day.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's scrolling mindlessly on social media or watching a mediocre TV show.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's running a need.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's running a needless errand or just sitting around and procrastinating.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, we all probably do some of these things at least some of the time.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: But let me ask you this though.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: If you could take those 30 minutes and replace it with meaningful writing every day, what could it produce?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Let me give you a real life example.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to speak about this in relationship to my daily email list, even though you're listening to the podcast version of my daily email.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: So I restarted my daily email list back in June of this year, and I spread out 12 emails over those several weeks in June, since I didn't want to dive right back into daily emails after not emailing my list for a long time.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So I spread those out over June, and then I started my daily emails back in July.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: And since that time, and not counting today's email that I sent out or today's podcast, I have written 128 daily emails.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And my emails have an average of 423 words each.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And the total word count for all of those emails put together is 53,630 words.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So to give you an idea of how much time I spend on this every day, on average I spend about 30 minutes writing, editing, recording, and scheduling every email.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So by carving out just a half hour out of my schedule every day, I've written the equivalent of a full nonfiction book or an average size novel just since the month of June.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't think I'm very particularly now, I don't think I'm particularly exceptional or fast when it comes to writing, but I am very determined and very intentional.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And it's that exact quality which has allowed me to keep on doing this, even on days when maybe I don't feel good, or days when I've got a lot of other things happening, or days when I simply don't really feel like showing up.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: It's that sense of being really determined and really intentional that has gotten me through this.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And I share all of this with you because you can do the exact same thing.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: You really can.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: If you can commit to just 30 minutes a day to writing, it can eventually change the direction of your whole life and business.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And the reason why is that small actions done consistently over time add up to big results.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Hey, my friend, thanks so much for listening.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Keep writing and keep showing up, and I'll see you tomorrow.
