- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? You are free to go.
- 0:14Welcome to what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:17The podcast where we talk about? Our least favorite aspects on
- 0:19most debatable opinions of our most favorite scary movies fight
- 0:22of our favorites. My name is Jesse, my name is
- 0:24Travis. And unfortunately, it's
- 0:27November, it's November. It's November 1st when we're
- 0:30recording this. We are very tired.
- 0:33Yeah. Like but in a good way, like
- 0:37October's just been a busy month.
- 0:38We're excited to slow down a little bit.
- 0:40I think we've got some fun stuff coming.
- 0:42This month and we're excited to kind of kind of really get our
- 0:46shit together. Yeah, October has been very
- 0:48chaotic. We've, I mean, we haven't done
- 0:51more episodes than normal, but we've had a lot of outside.
- 0:56Think we spent two bonus episodes this month.
- 0:58Oh, that's right. Yeah.
- 0:59So we've done a lot more and then we have the, we have the
- 1:01convention we did. Our water scream screen.
- 1:06Yeah. It's check our website, if you
- 1:08need recommendations on movies to watch just because it's
- 1:11November, it doesn't mean you can't keep watching horror
- 1:13movies. I mean you're here with us.
- 1:16Hi, thanks again for that. So you know go get some of your
- 1:23recommendations from our website.
- 1:24What's really scary is going to be.com just look under our
- 1:27screen screen, it's in our blog section.
- 1:31I don't know why I didn't put it in the review section probably
- 1:34because I'm a fucking idiot, it's fine, it's new, I forgive
- 1:39you can go and change it. Maybe I don't know.
- 1:42If you don't understand our rating system, that's fine,
- 1:44because we're mostly making it up as we went along, you can
- 1:47email us DMS whatever for clarification.
- 1:51I'll go ahead and plug our socials here at the beginning
- 1:53now because it kind of lends its way easily man.
- 1:56Our emails least favorite scary movie and gmail.com.
- 1:58Our Instagram is least favorite scary movie podcast or Twitter
- 2:02is least fav pod. And our Facebook page is just
- 2:05our name, and that's that. Yeah, that's that's all of them.
- 2:09We have a tick tock. Technically, I I'm very sporadic
- 2:13about checking it. Yeah.
- 2:14It's it's a thing. It's a thing, it's a thing.
- 2:18When we were in the mood to do it, it's kind of all over the
- 2:21place. We do, have you have a plan for
- 2:24it? Come the new year.
- 2:26We got some stuff, but I'm not gonna like talk myself into a
- 2:29corner in case I decide that I hate the idea, I have.
- 2:32So yeah, we're not here to talk about our Tick-Tock account.
- 2:38We're here to talk about the spooky movie.
- 2:41And I am sorry for those Like Jesse who are you?
- 2:46I Rock Fans. But this is another, you are off
- 2:48movie, it is, and we're talking about hostile today, we are
- 2:52talking about hostile. Now I'm going to say this
- 2:55because I know I said a lot of stuff about Eli Roth.
- 2:59The last time we talked about him which was in cabin fever and
- 3:03I'm just going to reiterate that I totally respect what he's done
- 3:06for her. I totally respect that.
- 3:09He's a geek for the genre. Some of his onset practices I'm
- 3:14a little iffy about. Yeah we'll try not to like tread
- 3:17on, you know. Yeah your territory with this
- 3:19but it's some of the stuff is going to naturally come up.
- 3:22Yeah if you want to hear a more detailed discussion about all
- 3:25that go check out our cabin fever episode is like over the
- 3:29summer I was in June I think this number 27 yeah I was
- 3:32looking today. Okay okay here baby this is
- 3:36number 50 this yes no thanks Here again, um, why do you keep
- 3:43saying that like things are in here?
- 3:47So hostile is a very special episode then yeah.
- 3:49So but just bearing in mind and like we talked about this all
- 3:53the time. We're both big horror movie fans
- 3:55ourselves. We just have been, the whole
- 3:56point of our podcast. Is that different people like
- 3:59different things and a horror movie, like, it's good to have
- 4:02this kind of friendly discourse where you can talk about what
- 4:05you do and don't like. And that everybody's opinion is
- 4:07valid as long as you're not an asshole and direct and directly
- 4:10attacking people, And this, my opinions on this movie are not
- 4:15related to Eli Roth, they're just related to the movie.
- 4:19Cool. Yeah.
- 4:20We'll keep this question. Yeah.
- 4:21I like it's a, it's a nice statement type of podcast, you
- 4:25know, like I feel this way about this movie, not Eli Roth.
- 4:29Did this to me, you know what I mean?
- 4:30Yeah, so that's fair. Yeah, that's, that's the right
- 4:33way to do it. We're as objectively subjective,
- 4:36as we can be here. At least, what's your least
- 4:38favorite scary movie. All right, give us a give us.
- 4:42Some information on this. By the way, we have a Blu-ray
- 4:46version of this. Yeah, we have ordered or did you
- 4:49find it at? We got this books, Half Price.
- 4:51Books is where we got this. Well that was a good find.
- 4:54Yeah, they have some good stuff out there.
- 4:55It's, you know, they even have Scream Factory stuff for those.
- 4:59Like the guy was telling us all about it when we were checking
- 5:01out. Yeah, I'm so glad we got the guy
- 5:04that we did when we were checking out, you got the guy I
- 5:07got the person that I was checking out and I had pieces or
- 5:11Add a floor. It's a form of a collection
- 5:13called bloodbath and it has pieces and like, for other
- 5:16movies. And the cover is don't even
- 5:19think it's from a movie. It's just a woman laying like in
- 5:22a tub covered in blood and I I've sensed judgment So I mean
- 5:28we chose to willingly own pieces and I think that warrants
- 5:32judgment. Yeah I don't think so.
- 5:35This is great. We'll talk about that eventually
- 5:38we will but hostile let's actually get on with the all
- 5:42right today. So hostile 2005.
- 5:46Yes. It came out into some 2005 kind
- 5:50of that's when I had its its Festival debut.
- 5:52You are already pointing aggressively at me.
- 5:54This is going to be a contentious episode.
- 5:56Road. Yes, it came out in 2005, but
- 6:00yes, but technically speaking of, but there's a lot of, but in
- 6:04this ver is a lot about. Yeah, there's a lot of nudity,
- 6:06if that makes you uncomfortable. Don't watch this movie then, but
- 6:10yeah, anyways, it came out in 2006.
- 6:13In January, January 6th, I believe so close to your
- 6:15birthday. Oh my God.
- 6:16You almost had that birthday horror movie that you could have
- 6:18went to. Oh, man.
- 6:19Do I know something fun. What?
- 6:21My dad took me to see this when we came out.
- 6:25What what did he think about it? What did you think about
- 6:28watching this with your dad? It was awkward.
- 6:32So 2006 January, I would have been 14.
- 6:37Actually 13. Yeah, I would have been 13.
- 6:40So I must have saw, are like seen the trailer and was really
- 6:45into it. I was like, did I gotta can we
- 6:47please go watch this movie? And I guess was, like, dad's
- 6:50like. Okay, fine, I'll take you, okay,
- 6:52but at least it was your dad and not your mom.
- 6:54Yeah. I've watched some awkward movies
- 6:56with him and I just remember like a lot of the nudity scenes,
- 7:00I was wearing a hat at the time and I'm like just for his sake.
- 7:03Like I felt weird looking so I would like to put my head down
- 7:06and just like not look at anything.
- 7:08I watched this movie with my mom at home on DVD in that is when I
- 7:14learned the phrase fucking a. Yeah.
- 7:17Because at the end when the people get hit by the car, you
- 7:21know, when he's like speeding towards the train station and
- 7:23sees suspect Lon Anna Natalya and Alex and he just like hits
- 7:27them. My mom went fucking a and I was
- 7:30like oh man. New vocabulary word.
- 7:33The old were you 14. I guess it was around the same
- 7:37age. So when Rick came out, yeah,
- 7:39okay. Yeah.
- 7:40This movie Dethrone the, The Chronicles of Narnia.
- 7:45From the box office, we did see Chronicles of Narnia in theater.
- 7:49I saw that the school field trip.
- 7:51Yeah, so yeah, in the theater and also in home release.
- 7:55So like whenever they both came out, simultaneously hostile be
- 7:58there both times so I know that that was a big movie to be.
- 8:04I came out in 2006. Six.
- 8:07Had an at estimated bug. Ted of 4.8 million and the
- 8:11opening weekend, it made 19.5 and worldwide gross.
- 8:15Overall was it 8 e 1.9. So this thing did pretty well.
- 8:18It did. It's a very notorious.
- 8:21Yeah, so one of the early torture porn.
- 8:24Also, just kind of porn porn for the first.
- 8:27Yeah. Five minutes.
- 8:28It starts the first 20 to 30 minutes of this movie is
- 8:31basically, like, kind of like, you know, like Dude bro, like
- 8:36yeah. Backpacking movie where people
- 8:39are having sex and it's just a lot of nudity but pattern sex
- 8:43questioning their sexuality. Yeah.
- 8:45Smoking weed getting crabs. Well we're jock itch that's a
- 8:52deleted scene to so I don't even think they brush on the actual
- 8:54thing. Kind of fun.
- 8:55We had. Yes.
- 8:57Oh yeah, this isn't a popular movie, though.
- 9:00In the Czech Republic in Iceland.
- 9:04Okay. So what do I swear?
- 9:05Actually cool with them, sorry Slovakia.
- 9:08Probably yes, walkie. And the Czech Republic, which
- 9:12used to be Czechoslovakia. So basically yeah.
- 9:14What's your halves of a whole? I mean understandable because
- 9:17they were upset that it painted out their country to be like
- 9:20poor and just, you know, underdeveloped which is really
- 9:23funny because in the behind, the scenes stuff, Eli Roth was
- 9:25talking about how fucking beautiful Prague is, which is
- 9:28where they were shooting know. It started off with Eli Roth
- 9:32complaining, about the toilets and how if you shit you I can
- 9:35feel the heat coming from the toilet.
- 9:37Yeah, well, that too, but like I know the actress that plays
- 9:43Natalia was talking behind the scenes.
- 9:45She was like, we do not have child, gangs demanding
- 9:50Bubblegum, and Slovakia and nobody on set believes me.
- 9:54Those kids were actually like Street kids like they weren't
- 9:58cast. Like, there's just, you know,
- 9:59there's a whole Bondi features are going around, mugging people
- 10:03for bubblegum, maybe not. They were, I don't know.
- 10:06They want to see. No, you know so yeah it was
- 10:10very, very popular but not with those two people for obvious
- 10:13reasons to people yet, mr. Mr. Chuck and mr.
- 10:17Slovakia. They're not fans of this movie.
- 10:20Yeah, so guys, it's prudes. It was produced by Tarantino.
- 10:24So the way that this movie actually came to be was Eli
- 10:29Roth, was planning on making a documentary on vacation murders.
- 10:34So I people like He came across like a website on like that tie
- 10:38website that people could apparently purchase people to
- 10:44buy and murder. Yes you've raised your hand, I
- 10:47literally did raise my hand, I do this in casual conversation
- 10:50all the time our friends and family can confirm um I can
- 10:54confirm Eli Roth's just like for funsies browse the dark web
- 11:02because the sad things like web shit.
- 11:04Yeah, that's dumb. Shit in here and they don't know
- 11:07if this website was like legitimate or not.
- 11:10But naturally what he did was he showed at the Quentin Tarantino
- 11:14and as you do and in doing, so they both kind of like, all
- 11:18right. Well this is kind of dangerous
- 11:20to research. Well it's let's make it into
- 11:22this instead, I'm sorry, but I want to hear a conversation
- 11:27between the two of them because I can see though there's a whole
- 11:30series of that in his show on AMC.
- 11:35Is it them talking to each other?
- 11:36Yeah, there's even a podcast episode of it.
- 11:39They appointment like, where it's unedited.
- 11:41I've listened to the episode Quinn, Tarantino knows his
- 11:43Horror. Oh I'm sure Quentin Tarantino
- 11:45does. I like I firmly understand why
- 11:49they would get along. I just feel like they have two
- 11:51very different styles of speaking.
- 11:56He's very much, they're both very much excited by.
- 11:59They have like different levels of energy.
- 12:02Quentin Tarantino's, like kind of manic.
- 12:04Yeah. You know, a Roth is more like
- 12:07he's excited but, you know, he he's control.
- 12:09Yeah. He's a negro.
- 12:10Exactly. He's a geek bro.
- 12:12Yeah, I'm like I mean it's true. He is a bro.
- 12:15Yeah, he's a pro for sure. Yeah, it's very obvious with
- 12:18these movies and all the dialogue and characters like it
- 12:21all the behind-the-scenes stuff with him too.
- 12:23Like he immediately he's like taking a dump in Prague and he
- 12:27uses the word dumped to be fair, I thought that was funny.
- 12:31I'm no after me whenever we let off the special feature like all
- 12:34right. So we're taking a shit here in
- 12:35Prague dump. He says dumb.
- 12:38Yeah. Okay, take an oar.
- 12:40We're taking a dump here, in Prague.
- 12:41My God. Taking a deuce picking to Deuce.
- 12:44We've, I had my covid-19 last week and I had a fever and was
- 12:49not allowed to go to work the next day.
- 12:50So I did what I do on a sick day and watched 10 hours of Wife,
- 12:55Swap and Travis, just joined in on the marathon when he got home
- 12:59from work and there was one kid whose name was deuce and Travis
- 13:04cannot. Over it that show.
- 13:06I think they like one of the criteria for a family's dumb
- 13:10child names because that's like pretty much any time I watch
- 13:14that show with you. One of the kids has a stupid
- 13:16name. It's confirmed like I think, I
- 13:18think that's part of it. I'm just going to run with that
- 13:21not look it up. Last fact before we actually get
- 13:25into the movie is the we thought that Greg nicotero, you know, a
- 13:31guy could Unix. Yeah.
- 13:33He We thought that he was involved because in the opening
- 13:36credits, like his name is actually listed there.
- 13:38But I did some digging and it's really him and Howard Burgers
- 13:43effects team knb. EFX?
- 13:45Yeah. So I didn't catch, I saw the
- 13:49makeup of them putting it like whenever the guy was doing canis
- 13:53arcanas, can't ya, her makeup that guy?
- 13:56I saw him in a lot of the shots with that and I tried to find
- 14:00who he was, but I couldn't find him there.
- 14:01So many people, listen, I'm, they be no pictures.
- 14:04Google search, and some of these people I couldn't find anything.
- 14:07Hold on. Let's see what he looks like.
- 14:09All right, do me a pause? No.
- 14:11Okay I can type really fast. It's fine.
- 14:13I'm going really fast. I think it was Howard Berger
- 14:15because look you know subtract 15 years maybe kind of wood
- 14:21looks a little bit like them. Yeah.
- 14:24No. Actually no.
- 14:25I don't think it's him. Well it looks closed.
- 14:28I got. But yeah, I like and I can see
- 14:30you two like if you co-own an effect Studio like it would make
- 14:35sense to not have both of you going to the same production
- 14:38because Greg nicotero has been crazy busy since he was 17 and
- 14:43George. Romero.
- 14:44Convinced him to drop out of medical school.
- 14:47Yeah, we learned that yeah weekend.
- 14:49Yeah, just a plug for Daddy shutter.
- 14:51Once again yeah I'm gonna get a cease-and-desist letter Greg
- 14:54angler uh you haven't gotten one from Kane.
- 14:58You're not going to get one from them.
- 15:01Joe Bob. Did I like cause shutter is
- 15:04partnered with it's under the same branches, AMC, am cont own
- 15:09shutter, Omega something, whatever.
- 15:11However that stuff works and they wanted to like plug the
- 15:14last half of the last season of The Walking Dead.
- 15:17I don't know. Anyway, so they had a surprise
- 15:20like last drive and special of the first two episodes of The
- 15:22Walking Dead. In Greg nicotero came on and
- 15:26talked about all kinds of stuff. So go check that out.
- 15:30Yeah. Like they need our plugs.
- 15:31Yeah. But yeah.
- 15:33It's on shutter or am z+. Yeah, not war.
- 15:37It's on both. Yeah, it's well, that's that's,
- 15:40that's all I've got for that. We have some more facts that I'm
- 15:42going to sprinkle into the conversation as we approach
- 15:44those. Yeah, yeah, a little
- 15:47behind-the-scenes stuff and all the deleted scenes and
- 15:49everything. Which I'm going to say this, I
- 15:51think this is really cool and I wish that more.
- 15:54Filmmakers did this when we have the deleted scenes like there
- 15:59was a little factoid about why this line was cut.
- 16:03Yeah. It's like a little bit of like a
- 16:04wall of text explaining. Yeah, it's Eli Roth like this
- 16:07right here is where his, you know, his love for movies.
- 16:10And yeah, that shines like this is like, I love the scene.
- 16:13But, you know, shit like we already explained this waiter
- 16:16and he's a hard worker. Yeah.
- 16:18Yeah. Like definitely.
- 16:19And he puts everything he has into it, and then he brings his
- 16:23family along. Ang so his brother can film him
- 16:26doing everything. Is that his brother?
- 16:27That's gonna get real. Wrong hands, mom.
- 16:29And dad are on satu, I mean, two of their sons were there.
- 16:32Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Gabriel Roth is the one who did
- 16:34the behind the scenes for cabin fever, too.
- 16:36He's also the guy and that one shot to the guy that killed
- 16:39people, you know, whatever. The Holy Cross family looks so
- 16:43bizarrely alike. Yeah, they do.
- 16:46Okay. So hostile, what did you think
- 16:48of this one, Jesse? Okay.
- 16:52This is a tricky one for me because I remember when it first
- 16:55came out being really into it because you know something that
- 16:58wasn't super common at the time. Yeah.
- 17:01Like we had this in Saw and then it kind of kicked off the whole
- 17:04thing's talking about before this.
- 17:06Yeah so saw kind of kick that off and then people were this is
- 17:08like the it's kind of coming up at this point.
- 17:12Yeah so I remember I remember liking it the first time I
- 17:16watched it and it's one that I've watched several times
- 17:19throughout the years I have seen the entire Trilogy several
- 17:23times, but I like, as I've gotten older and More aware of
- 17:32what I like in a story. I like this movie less and less.
- 17:37Okay, it feels very disjointed to have linked.
- 17:44It just feels like the first half is all partying in tits and
- 17:47ass which like you know we have fun with that that's good that's
- 17:52valid but like it feels very disjointed.
- 17:55Like it feels like a party movie and then all of a sudden it
- 17:58becomes a horror movie halfway through Wanted to use those two
- 18:02things as like a way to like juxtaposed.
- 18:04So I keep wanted it. Like you wanted to show that the
- 18:06extremity of sexuality with everything like with them in a
- 18:09red light district with that because I mean it's like the
- 18:12rooms are very similar to like what happens to later on and I
- 18:14get it like that was like supposed to be the extremity of
- 18:16violence that the yeah. We've got self-indulgence to
- 18:19both extremes. Yeah, exactly.
- 18:21I get it. We've got like a weird kind of
- 18:24like it's not fair of just for like, you know, tits and ass,
- 18:27you know? Yeah, no, I get that.
- 18:28And it's a very like Like they go to the red light district and
- 18:32they're using their American Tourist dollars to, you know,
- 18:39party it up with the ladies and then you know it we see the flip
- 18:45side of it, all of these rich businessmen using their money to
- 18:49like to kill Americans. Yeah.
- 18:52So I get what the purpose was. I just don't have fun watching
- 18:59it because it gets very A very repetitive, you know what I
- 19:03mean? There's only so many times you
- 19:04can watch these kids. Go to a club and like, you're
- 19:07just like. Yeah.
- 19:10And then also, I feel like the wrong character survived.
- 19:13I feel like it should have been Josh.
- 19:14He was a more interesting character.
- 19:16He was showing more growth earlier on.
- 19:18Yeah, and I feel like it was meant to like subvert, that
- 19:20exit. Ooh, I think Josh definitely has
- 19:23like, he fits the mold of your character, your main character
- 19:26in the first half of the movie. Which I, you know, I kind of
- 19:29like when that stuff happens. That's what I like that but it's
- 19:32just so hard to root for Paxton like you root for him just by
- 19:37way of the fact that you don't want to root for the evil
- 19:40torture e businessmen, you know what I mean?
- 19:42Like he's not a likeable character.
- 19:44Yeah, I get it. So I know.
- 19:49So what do you rate it? I think I'm gonna give it a four
- 19:55for four it kind of felt before coming from you.
- 19:58There, that's the body language of a for ya.
- 20:04Like like I said it's a technically well-made movie and
- 20:08it's, you know, the work that went into writing the script to
- 20:12make everything make sense and be cohesive all the editing, the
- 20:16production, all of that. I respect it, I just it's not
- 20:20mine. A jam.
- 20:21I don't like the pacing of it. I don't feel creeped out until
- 20:26halfway through it like that. 45 minutes is too much.
- 20:28Exposition this movie is an hour and a half and if I was shocked,
- 20:33when I saw with an hour and a half, I firmly in my brain feel
- 20:36like it's a two-hour movie. Really.
- 20:38Yes. And I don't mean that in a good
- 20:40way. I don't think it takes that long
- 20:42for it to get to that part. I feel like it's more around,
- 20:46let's say, like, 30 35 minutes, maybe, I don't know.
- 20:50I mean, that's still really Close though.
- 20:51Like yeah, I mean but, you know, that's all that's a lot of time.
- 20:57I don't know. I just, I felt like it was kind
- 20:59of unnecessary. Okay.
- 21:01I I really like this movie and I've always collected, I know a
- 21:07lot of people aren't necessarily a fan of the torture porn stuff,
- 21:11torture porn. I feel like they use that as a
- 21:13term for the genre, like, in a way to discredit it but then
- 21:17people have kind of embraced and it's become like torture porn,
- 21:20like People like okay cool. Like it's yeah like it feels
- 21:23where ristic to watch stuff like this and I don't think people
- 21:26really like to admit that to themselves.
- 21:29Yeah. And like I I like torture porn.
- 21:33I didn't say it like in. That's kind of one of the things
- 21:36about horror in general is you're confronting ugly shit.
- 21:39And if you're not confronting ugly shit in your horror, I mean
- 21:43like I'm not going to tell anybody how to watch their
- 21:44horror movies but I get more out of it when I'm like this does
- 21:48ugly. Yeah.
- 21:49Like I enjoy. So I enjoy where we movies that,
- 21:54you know, better fun and, you know, they're scary and they're
- 21:58creepy, but they're not grotesque, but Like this type of
- 22:03movie right here Hassel it plays on a different type of fear for
- 22:07me like it plays off of like actually visually seeing all the
- 22:10shit that's happening on the settings or extremely creepy.
- 22:15I like the way that everything they did a great job getting
- 22:18locations and getting everything set up basically gives you like,
- 22:23no, no, just like this feeling of hopelessness specially like
- 22:25they shot in an abandoned Hospital.
- 22:27Exactly. Yeah.
- 22:29Abandoned hospitals are fucking creepy.
- 22:31Yeah I mean like non abandoned hospitals are fucking creepy so
- 22:37I mean and I understand that the first half of the movie has a
- 22:40water just like the same shit then partying whatever you're
- 22:43not really getting a lot of character development but you're
- 22:45getting a little bit of something.
- 22:47It's always giving you something it would maybe be better if the
- 22:51characters were more likeable. Yeah, like I don't really care
- 22:54that these guys, the one that I care the most about was Josh and
- 22:57even he's kind of You know. Yeah, I wanted to see some more
- 23:00because there was definitely some of him questioning his
- 23:03sexuality and I would have liked to explore that a little bit
- 23:05more because only in Paxton are like trying to push the effects
- 23:10workers. Yeah, he's not comfortable when
- 23:12he's not comfortable with it and, you know, you kind of hear
- 23:15the like recent breakup type thing but then he's got a few
- 23:18intense moments with the Dutch scissoring guy.
- 23:21Yeah is credited. As I know he's credited as Dutch
- 23:25this meant I wrote a train guy in my hands throughout I'm sorry
- 23:28I Even read the cast. Yeah, I'll do that.
- 23:30After I finished my thoughts here.
- 23:32Okay. But Jesus Christ, Travis.
- 23:34I'm sorry. I don't want to say the
- 23:35beginning and we kind of have gotten a little bit derail here,
- 23:37so let's try and get on track here.
- 23:40All right, so I think that I would give this one.
- 23:44I would give it a 77. Yeah, because it lacks a lot in
- 23:48the character but the set pieces is in everything, like the
- 23:52setting, just the gore that you see, everything looks amazing
- 23:57and it's all real, really? Creepy, it kind of uh, no just
- 24:00plays off of those like moments those things that make me feel
- 24:03uncomfortable and that's kind of nice to get from horror
- 24:06occasionally, like, actually being uneasy, okay?
- 24:09That's like the intended effect. That brings our average 25.5, it
- 24:13sounds about right for this. Should I say something
- 24:16controversial? Should I say it now, should I
- 24:18say after you read cast and crew, or should I say that for
- 24:21the very end of this episode? I don't know how controversial
- 24:26is this. I'm curious.
- 24:28Let's go. I think hostile three is better
- 24:31than that. Oh, fuck he did.
- 24:32Tell me about that. Yeah, also three sucks asked it
- 24:36was I guess it's not a good movie.
- 24:38It's not even objectively. Like, enjoy watching it more
- 24:42than I enjoy watching this one. That's, you know.
- 24:46Okay, maybe we'll cover the whole series.
- 24:49Now, I don't know, just like randomly sprinkle an oboe
- 24:52creates a hostile day. Yeah.
- 24:54Well, you know, will surprise you, but Okay, yeah, that's
- 24:58that's stupid. I'm sorry but hostile three
- 25:02sucks. You made me watch it here
- 25:03recently. And again, I was like, yeah, you
- 25:05fell asleep and then like went to the bedroom and I followed
- 25:09you in there and then I put it on and watch it from the
- 25:11beginning. Why do you let your friend
- 25:12again? Because you fell asleep a really
- 25:14early on. And when I was first on you were
- 25:16like talking over it. Talking about how stupid.
- 25:19Yeah. You think the characters are bad
- 25:21in this movie? The characters in that movie or
- 25:22terrible? I liked the pacing is a lot
- 25:25better for me. I like the Twisted.
- 25:27At the end. Okay, that's another episode
- 25:29this week. All right, so let's go into the
- 25:32cast. We have Paxson, he's played by
- 25:35Jay Hernandez. Josh is played by.
- 25:37Derek Richardson always played by eighth of a good Johnson.
- 25:43I'm going to fuck up a lot of these names here because a lot
- 25:46of them are like Global's to where they filmed Natalia is
- 25:50Barbara, Neta gjakova. Svetlana is played by John a
- 25:57Nakata, bokova, everybody. You're doing really good.
- 26:03Okay, you know, and it always happens with the movies that I
- 26:06open with. I always get the ones with like
- 26:08the most difficult to pronounce names most difficult for you
- 26:12because you're not European. I guess it's true.
- 26:14Yeah yeah. Just I mean Travis is doing his
- 26:17best but also check out IMDb if you're not understanding what
- 26:21he's saying. Yeah, I think I can get these
- 26:22last two though. This one's easy.
- 26:24It's a cannon is played by Lynn. And last but not least, the
- 26:30Dutch businessman is played by Jin Vlasic.
- 26:34It was probably pronounce Ian, Ian fast classic, I'm so sorry,
- 26:41but those are the people. We've got an opening scene
- 26:46opening credits, I mean, and we were talking about opening
- 26:49credits on our last episode. I love the opening credits, this
- 26:51one. All right, did not like it
- 26:54purely for the fact that we had it on the menu.
- 26:57You screen of the Blu-ray for like 10 minutes before we got
- 26:59going watching it. So this whistling will haunt my
- 27:03dreams tonight. That's awesome.
- 27:05Not in a good way, it's into the fact.
- 27:08Yeah, it opens on the factory where we see the events, take
- 27:12place towards the end of the film, and it's just like the sky
- 27:15whistling. You can see all the torture
- 27:17tools, and you can tell that this is going to be some really
- 27:20nasty shit happening later, but it's all silenced a shit just
- 27:24happened because they're cleaning it up.
- 27:26Yeah. Things that like you see at one
- 27:28point really gross soap. So yes.
- 27:31Yeah. But it's there's no music.
- 27:34It's just the person that's cleaning whistling the entire
- 27:36time and I really appreciate it. I thought it was a really nice
- 27:39way to do the credits. Have you ever worked in a place
- 27:42where you've got that one person who when they're working alone?
- 27:45Or think they're working alone? Does the kill?
- 27:48Go whistle. Not the killed Bill was sold,
- 27:51but I hear people like whistle random things, especially You
- 27:55know, I've worked on two separate places where I've been
- 27:57like, walking down a hall and somebody else thinks they're all
- 27:59owned and they're doing that. Why are they embarrassed to do
- 28:01it? No, I think it's just like not a
- 28:04thing. You do in front of other people
- 28:05whistling around other people's annoying.
- 28:07Most people are worse than that. Hangs out around somebody and
- 28:10you decide that you're just going to whistle a jaunty tune.
- 28:14Learn proper social etiquette please.
- 28:16Nobody wants to deal with that. You would hate my workplace.
- 28:20So a lot of that we are after the credits Play.
- 28:24We Are introduced to our three characters.
- 28:26We have Paxton, Josh and Oli Oli is from Iceland.
- 28:31Yes, he is tagging along with these, dude.
- 28:33These two are friends. They've known each other and
- 28:35they appear to be in like, they're still kind of in.
- 28:40I'm taking it like in between, like, graduating college and
- 28:43going to enter in some sort of postgraduate work.
- 28:46Yeah. Paxson at one point, mentions
- 28:48taking him. Taking the bar and Josh working
- 28:51on his thesis. Yeah.
- 28:54So yeah, Josh wants to be a writer is basically like based
- 28:58off of like context of conversations that they have.
- 29:00But yeah, how does it feels this work for a writing degree?
- 29:03I'm gonna have to research that. Yeah it was I don't know it
- 29:08depends but yeah they're walking around there in Amsterdam so
- 29:12they're trying to just tour Europe and just trying to like
- 29:16it up all of the hot spots. Apparently answered him is a
- 29:19very hot place for Americans because they stayed in red light
- 29:24Exactly. Yeah.
- 29:25Which you know a lot of people yeah, sex drugs and rock and
- 29:28roll especially during this time in the 2000s, II feel like I
- 29:32hear or I would hear people talk about like Amsterdam all the
- 29:35time even if they've never been really interested in because we
- 29:39you know yeah we see them. Like they're arguing about if
- 29:42they're going to go smoke weed and we can we smoke weed at home
- 29:44like this goat or Museum which like I'm kind of on Josh's side
- 29:47there like I fucking love Museum tour, you can get high and then
- 29:51go to him using that sounds even better.
- 29:54So, they end up going to like a weed bar.
- 29:58Yeah, we're I don't know if any of you smoke hookah, but barely.
- 30:04Yeah. They're, they're smoking weed
- 30:07from a hookah, which just sounds like a terrible time.
- 30:10It's not recommended. It's I think it's bad for just
- 30:15the whole thing. It does not clean well like she
- 30:17should has, it's bad, really hookah?
- 30:19It's bad for the smoker. I'm assuming link.
- 30:22Feel like that's gotta hurt your lungs like who kind of wants to?
- 30:27Oh yeah, we see that. He is a, he's a feisty little
- 30:32guy and he brings over a near catatonic woman and even
- 30:35paxson's like, hey, pretty sure that qualifies as rape.
- 30:38So we should probably not have sex with her.
- 30:41They're the cutscene here which I get like he cut it because
- 30:45they get some more of this backstory later in a scene that
- 30:50needs it. And you have to cut out the
- 30:52Background somewhere. So it's not repetitive.
- 30:55But what happened is that? They met Oli and he has a flat
- 31:01in Barcelona, which is where they want to eventually end up.
- 31:05And so he was just going to tag along.
- 31:07They're just going to be three Pals in Europe.
- 31:09Yeah, they have good chemistry with each other.
- 31:11As soon as all get along, just fine.
- 31:13Yeah, they really do, you know, they like to hang out with their
- 31:17butts and nuts out front of each other.
- 31:18They do, it's always penis and anteater.
- 31:22And an aardvark a lot. Yeah I don't even want a picture
- 31:25that he is uncircumcised. Yeah yeah.
- 31:30So they go to a club. It's loud.
- 31:33Josh has a fanny pack. Oh and then there's a shot at
- 31:36this one. Other dude, in the bar this
- 31:38wearing a fanny pack and he is living the best life.
- 31:40He's just like standing still and he just kind of nodding
- 31:43along. That would be me.
- 31:44Yeah, and then this is where it like the movie is very, very
- 31:502005. There is a lot of Language usage
- 31:54and this movie that I don't love.
- 31:56Yeah, very problematic. Yeah, very problematic, very of
- 32:00the time. But I'm not gonna like say that
- 32:03it's okay because it was 2005 like his 2021.
- 32:06Now we're watching it now, we're talking about it.
- 32:08Now I'm gonna I'm going to take a stance against slurs, so
- 32:13brave, I know. I'm also going to take a stance
- 32:17and say it's not funny to joke about Being gay to your friend
- 32:21who might actually be get. Well it's not funny to joke
- 32:23about being gay first. Yeah but like also I like truly
- 32:29think there's a subplot there of Josh questioning his sexuality.
- 32:35Yeah. Because they're they're hints.
- 32:37Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:39So like yeah, we just they get kicked out of this club.
- 32:44Yeah. Because Josh spills his drink
- 32:47all over a girl and it kind of starts a fight.
- 32:49Yeah. And then Are you being as are
- 32:51being escorted other? I were Americans, you can't do
- 32:53this to us fucking obnoxious. Yeah, they hate these guys.
- 32:57Yeah, there they are. Made out to be pretty paintable
- 33:02right away, which is what I'm talking about.
- 33:03I don't, they're not good character as well.
- 33:06These businessmen are paying extra for Americans really.
- 33:08Get these fucking people out of our country.
- 33:11Yeah, which they act like that's special because they pointed out
- 33:15at the weed bar, that Americans are all over the place in
- 33:18Amsterdam. Like, yes, not that Special.
- 33:21Yeah, I think so their shitty about sex workers, they go into
- 33:29like brothel type plays, I don't know what the right terminology
- 33:32is essentially the red light district.
- 33:35Yeah, they are seeing silhouettes of people having
- 33:40sex, at one point, we see two rows fist-bumping.
- 33:44So I was a little bit confused because we like behind the
- 33:47scenes stuff. You actually see like
- 33:49everything, Shot from both sides of it.
- 33:52Yeah, I don't know. I just felt a little bit weird
- 33:54to me that they would do that. Yeah, I don't know if that was
- 33:58just like for the behind the scenes were if they were
- 34:00actually intending on using those shots.
- 34:03Yeah, I don't. Do you feel?
- 34:05I feel like that would be in the deleted scenes if that were the
- 34:07case it is. But yeah I mean I know you have
- 34:11to get like a ton of different angles and stuff.
- 34:12I was just like man these are Silhouettes and you have these
- 34:15people completely butt-ass naked.
- 34:18Yeah. Some of the things.
- 34:20Things that you can see the silhouette of a nibble from like
- 34:24some of these shots too. So I don't know, I guess, I
- 34:28mean, it's not necessary but no, you don't just don't wear a
- 34:31padded bra and make it cold and then you can still see a nipple
- 34:34perfect. Yeah like always pays a sex
- 34:38worker to fuck Josh and Josh is like hey nice roomy have by.
- 34:46Yeah they're they're trying to get him to have sex.
- 34:50To forget about his ex. They are late getting back to
- 34:56their hostile and there's a curfew and there again, really
- 34:58obnoxious and I'm siding with all the people throwing bottles
- 35:02at them because they are being loud, they're waking up the
- 35:05entire Street always starts singing in the middle of the
- 35:08street to try and wake everybody up.
- 35:09I guess. So like make it to where there's
- 35:11so obnoxious that somebody asked them what the men which does
- 35:14work because this guy named Alex, who lives near the hostel
- 35:17opens up his window and has them climb up.
- 35:19The fire escape so they go in there.
- 35:22And his roommate and his roommates girlfriend or
- 35:26whatever. I don't know.
- 35:27Maybe not girlfriend. Who knows are having very stoned
- 35:32sex? Yeah.
- 35:34And I don't even know if it's like we I think they're just
- 35:36super high. They're tripping on something in
- 35:38there. Having super not sober.
- 35:40Sex act like yeah. And like always just watching
- 35:44and then hacks and Josh like awkwardly talking with Alex and
- 35:47I like yeah we just want to fuck women all over.
- 35:52Here up and he was like, oh listen, I know this great place.
- 35:55It's this hostel right outside of Bratislava and you're not
- 35:59going to find it, you're not going to find it in your book.
- 36:01Let me tell you how to get there, so they're like cool.
- 36:05Yeah, we have a place where we're going to go.
- 36:06This is where we get the actual back story of why there with
- 36:09only because he is noticeably older than them and noticeably
- 36:14less American than them. Yeah.
- 36:17So I think Alex is like why? Yeah.
- 36:21He's Telling them that basically, the women, there are
- 36:25very much into American. So just the fact that you're an
- 36:28American and they hear your accent, they're going to be all
- 36:30over you, so they're into it. So they decided to set out and
- 36:34go on there the next day and then they're on the train.
- 36:37Yeah, I would love to go somewhere where people are like
- 36:39me and your accent, so pretty, because I do not fucking get
- 36:43that in America anywhere. Well, I mean, it's America.
- 36:46Everybody's just sir accident. Will you get him with a Southern
- 36:49accent? I guess.
- 36:50Know, with the southern accent, you get people make Funny.
- 36:52You some people are into it. I've never met anybody into it.
- 36:56Well some people are some people are in there any accent.
- 36:59Yeah, that's right. People are weird.
- 37:01People just like things that are different.
- 37:03Yeah, exactly. I just think they're neat.
- 37:06So they're on a train, somebody drew eyes on Oles butt cheeks
- 37:11always, relies on, always, but she's I do not think, like, if
- 37:16only did those eyes himself, he has done this prank several
- 37:19times before because those are some very symmetrical Very
- 37:22smooth eyeballs. Yeah.
- 37:25I mean I get the impression that he's the type of guy that would
- 37:27do this a lot also. They clearly planned this in
- 37:30advance because he mentioned that he shaved his ass for this
- 37:33prank. That's true.
- 37:34He did, didn't he? Yeah, he's got a very smooth.
- 37:36But here I like to imagine, he just keeps his butt shaven at
- 37:39all times. So he can do a but prank
- 37:42whenever he wants. Just have it ready to go?
- 37:44He's already got the eyes on there at all times.
- 37:46Yeah, like they're just tattoos like better.
- 37:49Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Yeah.
- 37:52So this guy, the Dutch businessman.
- 37:55I call him train guy in my notes throughout, so I might switch
- 37:58back before he comes in. He's on the phone with his
- 38:02daughter saskia. She's Daddy's girl.
- 38:06And then there's absolute psychopath starts eating a salad
- 38:10with his fingers. The original Salad Fingers.
- 38:14Oh gross. That's where you got the
- 38:16inspiration. Was around this time on soured.
- 38:19Soured Salad Fingers came out phone.
- 38:22About this guy, this guy was cast like with in lesson, six
- 38:25days before shooting began and he did not speak any English at
- 38:29all. He took all of his Lines by
- 38:31wanting, it phonetically had no idea what he was saying.
- 38:34That's really impressive honestly.
- 38:37Yeah, I know it is because he has a whole monologue Waiter on.
- 38:40Yeah, and here he's he's got a lot of dialogue and he's got
- 38:43like a monologue that gets cut to.
- 38:45Yeah, out here. He says he prefers to use his
- 38:48hands. He likes to have connections
- 38:51with things that died. Or me and then paxson's like why
- 38:53I'm a vegetarian and the guy is like, oh well, it's human nature
- 38:57to eat me in Paxton is like, am I not a fucking human being?
- 39:00Like look what do you mean packs?
- 39:02And really didn't strike me as the type of you vegetarian.
- 39:05I didn't get that Vibe either and I'm not I'm going to call
- 39:08bullshit. I feel like he's just fucking
- 39:10with this. Yeah that's how I feel like to
- 39:11he immediately like he was like I don't like this guy.
- 39:14I'm gonna tell him about deterrence because truly
- 39:18speaking as a vegetarian nothing will piss off hard.
- 39:22Core meat eaters more than being like I'm a vegetarian.
- 39:26It's it ruffle some feathers. Yeah, some people are, they get
- 39:30a little bit too wrapped up in the whole thing.
- 39:32It's kind of stupid. I saw somebody shared something
- 39:34that was like, when you're a vegetarian, when people find out
- 39:38you're vegetarian, they have they no longer know how to
- 39:41relate to you as a person. They'll be like, hey, do you
- 39:44want to carpool together? I have a Honda Civic.
- 39:47Are you allowed to ride in that? I know you're a vegetarian and
- 39:51it's true. Like people would be like, I
- 39:53feel like I shouldn't eat. This burger in front of you.
- 39:55I'm like, do you think I just like, eat alone in a closet for
- 40:00all three meals? Yeah.
- 40:01If you had a void everybody, they me, you'd be in a lot of
- 40:04trouble. Like we're eating in separate
- 40:06rooms. So fun fact, we just did a quick
- 40:10break for an audio. Check after are corrupted, audio
- 40:13incident with Jason X, we're not taking any chances.
- 40:15And apparently, our neighbors dog is incredibly legible.
- 40:22Wow, audible audible. That's what I'm looking for.
- 40:25It's not Talia barking in the background.
- 40:26It's our neighbors dog toys being a good girl and just
- 40:29sleeping on the couch. Yeah, sorry.
- 40:30If that's an issue. That's what this is.
- 40:34Where train guy like gropes. Josh, Josh.
- 40:38Yeah, he puts his hand on his knee.
- 40:39He pulls a Toby. Yeah, unlike he makes very sexy
- 40:44eyes at Josh to and like, it's a very bold move for somebody.
- 40:48You just met yeah. Like what are you doing?
- 40:51You're like, did you think that the whole eating salad with your
- 40:54hands thing was a turn-on? So when we touch it with these
- 40:56chicken fingers and it's nasty. Yeah.
- 41:01And Josh freaks out and kicks him out of the train card and
- 41:05that like a reasonable response and I And the guy pulls a Toby,
- 41:09like, if he had a Hot Topic or he would have just imagining
- 41:13that. Yeah.
- 41:14Just like opens the train door and you shout it, see it.
- 41:20All right, so they get to the hostel Pulp Fiction's on on the
- 41:24TV and it's in Russian, that's according to the captions, it's
- 41:28in Russian. Yeah, this is, I don't know
- 41:30where this place is like geographically where they are
- 41:34whoever dubbed over. Samuel L Jackson was not a good
- 41:39voice match. He can't, I don't think that you
- 41:42can really, you know, Doug Samuel Jackson.
- 41:46Yeah. Samuel Jackson just needs to
- 41:48learn every language for every country that his movies are
- 41:51shown in. Yeah.
- 41:52Like the guy in this movie that just didn't even know the
- 41:54language, you just like, all right.
- 41:56Just tell me what I need to read muthafucka.
- 41:58So he moves those in the motherfucker, so they get up to
- 42:02the room. They're told that they're,
- 42:03they're going to have your mates and they get up to their room,
- 42:06they were roommates and they were Mates.
- 42:08And boy were they? So they get up there and I see
- 42:11these girls titties out, and I'm like, oh, we're just getting
- 42:14ready to go to the spa, you should come and so they they
- 42:19follow and this is where they get down to the spa.
- 42:23And I wrote, Of course, Paxton has a fucking tribal tattoo
- 42:27because there's a fucking tribal tattoo.
- 42:30It's like dude, bro, confirmed. They go into a sauna,
- 42:36everybody's naked. David.
- 42:38The girls are like, let's go to the club and then they get there
- 42:43and they are being given like drugs pills of some sort.
- 42:48I'm thinking ecstasy, I'm not a, I'm not a druggist, I don't
- 42:54know, I don't know. I've never been any time I've
- 42:57ever seen anything related to ecstasy.
- 42:58I think it's in pills. So I think that this is ecstasy,
- 43:01you very much fits the theme of. I go into a club that's popular
- 43:04drug for that. Yeah.
- 43:08Josh is kind of like, who's he with is he was spent Lana
- 43:12Anatolia. Which ones.
- 43:13Which Svetlana is the blond one, right?
- 43:16Yeah, Josh gets Natalia. All right.
- 43:19Yeah, so she's like getting very cozy with him but he's like,
- 43:23hey, I'm having an asthma attack, I'm gonna go outside.
- 43:25Relatable, they're just, you know, more more partying, not
- 43:29only that but she's smoking right beside him.
- 43:31And obviously, you like made him uncomfortable, she offered to
- 43:34put it out, but I think he made the right call to just go
- 43:36outside. Yeah.
- 43:37Yeah. And then while he's out there,
- 43:39one of the bubblegum gang kids comes up and demands, I think is
- 43:43like a quarter or a dime or something.
- 43:45I want to try anything and then he said, I want a dollar and
- 43:49then like the rest of his gang pops up and they've got like
- 43:51bats and Shane's and brass knuckles and the train guy comes
- 43:56up and he is like just like makes it rain on the kids and
- 43:59he's like, it's best to just give them what they want because
- 44:02they will fucking murder. You ho boy that they will sell
- 44:07you out. For a piece of gum and I am not
- 44:10even joking. Yeah, they like gum here.
- 44:13So yeah. So Josh was like let me buy you
- 44:17a beer as a thanks. Yeah.
- 44:19But also as kind of a date because like while they're in
- 44:22there they're talking and the train goes like go hang out with
- 44:25your friends. He's like no I'm enjoying our
- 44:27conversation and he puts his hand on his knee.
- 44:29Yeah. Then he puts his hand on his
- 44:30knee. Yeah.
- 44:32That is a sign. Yeah.
- 44:34That goes beyond subtext right there.
- 44:36Yeah definitely. Which I think is kind of
- 44:38interesting because we've got these women that are lowering,
- 44:41these men for the elite hunting group.
- 44:45And then, I think it's kind of interesting that Josh is given
- 44:49to the man that he's got the guy really flirting most likely like
- 44:53crocodile. Yeah, he's seen he seemed to be
- 44:56in the know that this was where they're going to get their
- 44:59picture. Like, he's very conveniently.
- 45:02They're like, that's a weird coincidence because that club
- 45:05does not seem like that, dudes, hang out.
- 45:07I mean, yeah, it's not it's all like a bunch of young people and
- 45:12he's just kind of there to be fair.
- 45:14He wasn't even in the club he was outside so maybe he was.
- 45:17Maybe he was going there, I don't know, maybe he was just
- 45:18walking by. Yeah, mom back at the hostel.
- 45:23Like just two Bros, fuck in there, girl.
- 45:26Roommates. And all we are Olli has been
- 45:29taken away by. I think it's Val, who was Vala.
- 45:34They call her Val to I think but if she's like the desk, Work at
- 45:37the hostel. Yeah, so I want to say one thing
- 45:40about ali sounds. This is last screen appearance.
- 45:43You know who he made me think of Dennis is roommate in that
- 45:48episode of. Its I finally was like you want
- 45:50to do some freaky shit man. That's only that is very much
- 45:55him. Those are really bad accent.
- 45:57I'm so sorry to all of Europe mature in names and butcher an
- 46:00accent. That's what we do here folks.
- 46:04But yeah, so they wake up in the morning.
- 46:06Oh he's not. There has been Neatly made who
- 46:08would guess he never came dick and I deleted scene.
- 46:11We see that Josh Witnesses him being taken away in a van and
- 46:15this never comes up again and like which is one thing like
- 46:19okay you cut it because you know it's better if they're just
- 46:23confused about where he is but that was his rationale was that.
- 46:27It's creepy. The next 10 minutes are creepy
- 46:29or without seeing it. But like, he doesn't mention
- 46:33that it creates a continuity. Yeah, from here on out there
- 46:36basically like, where is Is he like he didn't come home last
- 46:39night. Maybe he went away with a girl
- 46:40or went home with her but in reality like just based off of
- 46:43the shooting here, Josh saw him going to a van and he never
- 46:47brings it up to Paxson where he's not willingly getting in
- 46:50the van. He is being escorted by two
- 46:52beefy men. Yeah, exactly.
- 46:54So it's very much sketchy but apparently they just shrug it
- 46:57off. Yeah.
- 46:59And I like okay well we'll leave a note for him in case he comes
- 47:02back this girl Kana Kenna. Already Anna.
- 47:08Okay, Anna, she comes running up, she's got a text message of
- 47:12her friends and Oli, like it's a picture and at the bottom, it
- 47:16apparently so sayonara. It's a very disturbing picture
- 47:19to like it's they are you can see the backdrop of one of the
- 47:24towers. You kind of get these landmarks
- 47:26you get shots of it throughout the movie.
- 47:28They do not look like they're they're willingly.
- 47:30No, that's the thing. Like they are like standing very
- 47:33still and they're very like, I don't know, Shell Shocked look
- 47:36on their face. Yeah.
- 47:37They're very stiff. It seems like an they are
- 47:40basically they have like no expression and yeah like you
- 47:43just know there's a gun pointed at them.
- 47:45All camera. It's very creepy.
- 47:47It's very unsettling picture. I really like that.
- 47:51Yeah. So they're like, okay well we'll
- 47:54meet up and talk with you later we're going to try and find
- 47:56Olli. They're walking near a canal and
- 48:02I actually really relate to packs in this moment because
- 48:05he's like, oh, here's a body of water.
- 48:07Let me tell you about some of my childhood trauma.
- 48:11Just out of the blue. Yeah, that's what does that all
- 48:14the time. Really to occasionally I will
- 48:17remember something I've repressed and I'm like, hmm I
- 48:20guess that explains why I have this particular characteristic
- 48:23now I guess we're talking about that today.
- 48:27So, he's talking about, he saw a girl drowning when he was
- 48:31younger and even though he told the Lifeguard, he felt
- 48:33responsible for her dying in. This is supposed to set up his
- 48:36whole growth as a character, which is all fine.
- 48:39And well, I still don't want him to be our final girl in this
- 48:43movie, but he is, it works out. Okay, in the theatrical cut, its
- 48:49kind of undone completely in the director's.
- 48:54Cut isn't ending? Yes though, the ending.
- 48:56Yeah. Yeah, we'll talk about that when
- 48:58we talk about that but anyway, say they yeah we just had to
- 49:03give him some background because he's about to become our final
- 49:06boy. Yeah.
- 49:07And yeah, they're trying to build up these characters but
- 49:11it's really not doing much there.
- 49:12I mean any of the dialogue that they have here is just kind of
- 49:15like yeah, whatever. Really if they didn't spend 30
- 49:17minutes of the movie in loud clubs fucking girls like they
- 49:21could have built up their characters a little bit more.
- 49:23Yeah naturally. But anyways, they They see what
- 49:28they think is only because they see this man wearing the exact
- 49:31same coat that all we had. Nobody else has an orange jacket
- 49:35in Europe. Travis, this is clearly
- 49:37evidence, but I understand it because I mean, I don't know,
- 49:41this guy's from Iceland, like, do people from Iceland, get this
- 49:44stuff here like, you know, that a lot of that stuff is very much
- 49:47local. So do you know this?
- 49:51I've I've read about some cases like some murder cases where
- 49:56people Okay or have they tracked down?
- 49:59They've gotten like a piece of evidence from clothing, right?
- 50:02Okay they say this person is from another country because
- 50:04they only manufacture this. And so in South Korea, I'm
- 50:08obviously giving away some details of the exact when I was
- 50:10reading about, we listen to the episode about it, on case File,
- 50:15the guy that went to the family's home and like kill them
- 50:18all. And then I kind of hung out
- 50:19there and like, shit in the toilet and ate Candy.
- 50:22I was like, you had me in the first half.
- 50:24I was like, that's like 90% of case File.
- 50:26Episodes. But okay.
- 50:27You remember which one I'm talking about?
- 50:28Yeah, they were able to like they got a piece because of the
- 50:31guy just like we lived in their house for a little bit and he
- 50:34left behind some clothing like okay, this is like made here.
- 50:37So you know, it could be the case with this.
- 50:39I mean that's not what they're doing.
- 50:41Obviously they just see something familiar and they
- 50:43think it's him. So they go and chase him around
- 50:45the town because of, guys, not listening, wherever they're
- 50:48yelling, only because this isn't only.
- 50:50I do like they follow him into a Torture Museum and the tickets
- 50:55for the For the museum or like a picture of a person and the
- 51:00instead of like ripping, the stub off for the ticket, he puts
- 51:02in a tiny little. Yes, I love it.
- 51:05Yeah. Like I want a teeny tiny
- 51:07Guillotine. Yeah.
- 51:09Very dangerous with our pets, but yeah, we could keep it here
- 51:13in the podcast room. Yeah.
- 51:15If anybody knows where I can find a teeny tiny Guillotine.
- 51:17Hit us up. See probably, I'm sure.
- 51:21Yeah, only a tiny is hand on Etsy.
- 51:23I'm gonna look it up. I also love the fact that
- 51:25there's a museum of Torture and torture porn movie like they
- 51:29very much more. Like yeah.
- 51:31You know what we're doing here and it's really cool.
- 51:33They have some interesting, he's like some this shit right here.
- 51:36Historically based we did our research.
- 51:38We went to a museum, the extra mile.
- 51:41Apparently they're actually was in a museum where they were
- 51:43shooting this thing here. You know these are the Museum's
- 51:46really do exist. Yeah.
- 51:47So it's kind of cool so they realize it's not the guy they
- 51:51yeah. Get a text from OE supposedly
- 51:55and it's what very much looks like.
- 52:00Only with very dead eyes and that's because we see in the
- 52:03next shot, it's his head and all right.
- 52:07Ray. Yeah, all of the text says, is I
- 52:09go home. So obviously these people aren't
- 52:12like English speakers but I think always English wasn't that
- 52:15broken. So it's a the picture is very
- 52:18offsetting their racist also. Yeah.
- 52:22I'm sure they are racist. I mean, that's probably part of
- 52:27the reason that they want Americans, like, yeah, they hate
- 52:30Americans for sure. Yeah, definitely a big part of
- 52:32it, so they seek Anna back at the hostel.
- 52:35And they ask if she's going to go to the Train the next day and
- 52:42she's like, yeah, they're like, well, we'll meet up with you
- 52:43like, don't know where your friend went, spoiler alert, her
- 52:47friend is in the same place, Olli was, and she's getting her
- 52:50toes clipped off one by one. Yes, that scene is nasty.
- 52:54Yeah, but I love that shot of it like panning over and then you
- 52:59see down the hall. This guy, obviously paid a lot
- 53:01of money because you got two people.
- 53:03Yeah. What if they're not American?
- 53:05So I guess you got some kind of combo deal.
- 53:07Yeah. But the one, I like coked-up guy
- 53:10later made. It sound like Asian.
- 53:13People are even more expensive later on.
- 53:17He finds the card or maybe it's because he's also American and
- 53:20they're like, we can definitely rip those.
- 53:22Guy off. Yeah, probably they probably
- 53:24took advantage of him but packs and finds a card later on that
- 53:28reveals the prices of, you know, the nationality or race or
- 53:32whatever. Americans don't like 25,000.
- 53:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:35And the others, like a thousand and like ten thousands of locals
- 53:385000. And then what was the second
- 53:41like I couldn't read? It was too fast for me,
- 53:44whatever? I didn't write it down, I'm not
- 53:46interested in the price of human.
- 53:50Not information. I need to have Do you hear me?
- 53:54Do you hear me? FBI agent.
- 53:56Listen again, sounds even more suspicious, definitely don't
- 54:01know. The cost of humans in Morse code
- 54:05at me. No, I don't know if I can Morse
- 54:08code. It's disappoint.
- 54:10Even think I know SOS because I get it mixed up.
- 54:12Which one's long and which ones short?
- 54:14I don't know any of that. Okay, so so on Anatolia.
- 54:20Come in, then I go to a club. And Josh was like fuck off and
- 54:24then packs in his leg. Hold on.
- 54:26Now he's like listen dude. Always European and Europeans
- 54:31are fucking weird. He's also racist because he's
- 54:33America. No, he's got a point here.
- 54:35His whole point is. So this guy just like they don't
- 54:38even really know him. They've just tag he's tagged
- 54:40along with their trip throughout Europe and I could see him just
- 54:43like ditching them to go along with some person.
- 54:46They just met again, you know, it is very much real and he's
- 54:49got a point saying look we you and I Like we can we're staying
- 54:53together but we don't really need him because he probably he
- 54:57probably went away with someone else he says or he went home to
- 55:00his daughter. Yeah.
- 55:01What she also says six-year-old daughter.
- 55:03Yeah, so it's very much reasonable.
- 55:07I don't end it. Convinces Josh.
- 55:09So you know, they end up going well, isn't I agree with this
- 55:13point, but there's a way he said anything that's like a racist
- 55:18like undertone levels, like Europeans are flaky crust me.
- 55:22Like that's how it felt like bro.
- 55:25I've been to Europe. Like there's one way to be like
- 55:27cultures are different. Maybe this is no big deal.
- 55:29I don't know how long he was. Like he's Icelandic.
- 55:32They definitely like they don't like to hang out for a long thin
- 55:34guys. Sketchy So okay so they decide
- 55:40that they're going to go and then packs and says this is the
- 55:44shit that you talking about having sex with these girls.
- 55:47It's like this is a shit that will be thinking about when I'm
- 55:49studying for the bar and you're writing your thesis and I was
- 55:52like that is not what you should be thinking about.
- 55:53When you are studying or writing that will get you very poor
- 55:57results. Maybe not how brains work?
- 55:59That's what his thesis is going to be on, maybe he's like gonna
- 56:02be like a rhotic rider. You know, you go to school.
- 56:07I don't know, I guess, maybe they have, like, some kind of
- 56:09like, like, what's your focus erotica?
- 56:17Okay, so they invite Canada. She says, no Josh like at the
- 56:21bar. Natalia is just, like, feeding
- 56:25him drinks. Like just tipping his chin up
- 56:28and my, pouring, the drink that. There you go.
- 56:31Yeah, full on, baby. Burden.
- 56:33That you know, he sees the guy with the jacket again and then
- 56:37he was like, fuck this shit. I'm out.
- 56:39He leaves says, he'll see Natalia later because they share
- 56:44a room obviously. So he gets back to the hospital.
- 56:47He looks fucking awful. Yeah, it's terrible.
- 56:51And I'm pretty sure he's been. Worked here.
- 56:52Oh clearly and like Val has like, oh so you baby, let's lay
- 56:57you down in the bed. That's not in your room that you
- 57:00paid for which I could just take you right up to it.
- 57:02But no you're going to go in this bed and then I really like
- 57:05the angling of the shot because you mostly see him.
- 57:07But like on the background you can see like just the corner of
- 57:10the doorway and you see like extra pairs of feet.
- 57:12Yeah, another guy walks up. Yeah, very nice.
- 57:14I like that, too. So, at the club, the girls are
- 57:20talking in another language. Right in front of Paxton and he
- 57:24was like, wow, this is super fun.
- 57:27Hey, where's the bathroom? And he was like, okay, I'll get
- 57:32you guys drinks on my way back and then says something in
- 57:34German, and I seem a little bit thrown off that he can speak
- 57:37German when he goes to the bathroom.
- 57:39There's clearly a line for the bathroom clearly and instead he
- 57:44just walks into a Supply Closet and then, yes, it's a supply
- 57:47goes, I mean he's starting to have the effects of the drugging
- 57:51to and he's some guy. Who walks out of the Supply
- 57:53Closet. He just like, thinks it's the
- 57:54bathroom. So he just stumbles in there and
- 57:56passes out. I'm telling you, the people that
- 57:58work at the club are so lucky that he did not expel any type
- 58:02of body fluid and that closet because that is how that story
- 58:06would go any other day. I don't feel like they would
- 58:09give a shit. Oh, they would just be more
- 58:11sketchy. Somebody has to clean it up,
- 58:13still maybe uh was they bring the butcher from the actual like
- 58:19office space or whatever. Like we have in there to clean
- 58:21that stuff up? Get your hose, get your hose and
- 58:26yo get the hose, get your hose so hex.
- 58:32Oh wait, no no, no. So easy packs, fallen asleep.
- 58:36I don't know if he's ever actually referred to as packs.
- 58:38That's what they say packs. Yeah.
- 58:41That's what I was writing my nose little time.
- 58:43So we cut to a shot. Like as he has Pacs is falling
- 58:47asleep. We cut to a shot.
- 58:49It's like a small circle and the screen the rest of the screens
- 58:51black. And it's like a POV shot
- 58:53clearly. And you can tell like you're
- 58:55looking around this room, you see a tray of torture
- 58:59instruments like surgical stuff. Let me tell you and I told you
- 59:02this. Yeah, so I have to get regular
- 59:05skin screenings just, you know, be safe.
- 59:09And when you go into the dermatologist office, they have
- 59:13that shit ready to go. Like, they have a whole fucking
- 59:17tray with like scalpels. They've got the cauterizing
- 59:20tool. If you've got God, They've got
- 59:22the little local anesthetic needles that are like,
- 59:25pre-measured out. They've got all of that honor
- 59:28tray, no, because I remember because the first time I went
- 59:30in, I saw the tray and I was like, dude, this is just like in
- 59:33fucking Hospital. Like it's like, it's really
- 59:36nerve-wracking. Yeah.
- 59:37You're like, oh God. What's gonna happen to me scary?
- 59:40Yeah, cuz like I thought it was like because I was like I have a
- 59:43suspicious mole that I need you to check out and then I come in
- 59:45and I see all these tools and she's like, no, we keep these
- 59:49out for everybody and I was like, that's Still alarm.
- 59:52Yeah. Okay.
- 59:53I'm settling like hey I was just here like you know just for a
- 59:57check-up. Okay, cool.
- 59:58Let's get the scalpel. I don't even think I have
- 1:00:01almost, I'm just warning, the just want to know.
- 1:00:04We better get. This is how they saw her.
- 1:00:07They just cut it off but I love the ceiling.
- 1:00:11That's yeah, I'm right here. Yeah.
- 1:00:14So the Dutch businessmen comes in we don't know it's him yet.
- 1:00:19He's in a mask and an apron, he pulls off the Hood, from Josh,
- 1:00:23Josh is crying, he's yelling, he's begging.
- 1:00:26He is going through all stages of grief right now.
- 1:00:28He is, he's handcuffed to the chair like and the chairs bolted
- 1:00:33to the floor. Or it's all very like gnarly and
- 1:00:37medieval. Yeah.
- 1:00:38And We see a drill. And we hear the drill and then
- 1:00:45we see the drill being put back on the table with what appears
- 1:00:48to be raw bacon. Wrapped around the drill bit.
- 1:00:52Yeah, It's upsetting. He so he's like drilled his swag
- 1:00:56and his torso like I'm not really sure about the place one
- 1:00:59of each of them but he's gotten deep in there.
- 1:01:01Yeah it's not like so our it's not a drill bit, you would use
- 1:01:06on drywall, like his. You're going to like go all the
- 1:01:09way through all of your fucking walls with it.
- 1:01:11It's a long drill bit. It's an industrial drill bit.
- 1:01:15Not quite driller killer but you know.
- 1:01:19No. Killer killer light.
- 1:01:21Mmm. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:01:22It's like the drill from the third movie.
- 1:01:26It's like a western ones first astral.
- 1:01:29Yeah. We the guy takes off his mask
- 1:01:32and there's like a whole monologue here that was cut
- 1:01:34where he's talking about like medieval torture instruments
- 1:01:37kind of tying it into the Torture Museum, but they felt
- 1:01:40that it kind of takes away from his next monologue which is like
- 1:01:42he takes off his mask. We see is the guy from the train
- 1:01:44and then he's talking about how he wanted to be a surgeon, but
- 1:01:46he couldn't because his handshake too much, which is a
- 1:01:48legit reason to not become a surgeon.
- 1:01:51Um, like that's like a necessary.
- 1:01:54Yeah you need accuracy. Yeah, minimally necessary.
- 1:01:58Qualification is the proper term.
- 1:02:01Yeah. So Josh is like vomiting, he's
- 1:02:06crying. He wants to go and he goes oh
- 1:02:09you wanna go and then like we see him lie down and Josh just
- 1:02:13starts like screaming and freaking out here.
- 1:02:14Like don't know what's happening, but it's not good.
- 1:02:17And then he like uncuff someone who's like you are free to go
- 1:02:22and he opens the door and we see Josh stand up.
- 1:02:25And then we see his feet and his Achilles tendons have been
- 1:02:28completely severed and he just Falls forward and you know how
- 1:02:32that was done. Fake leg.
- 1:02:34He's baby really good. Looking fake legs really
- 1:02:36good-looking fake legs and like the angle of it.
- 1:02:39You don't even realize that you're not seeing the top half
- 1:02:41of his body. The way this is shot and edited
- 1:02:43is like really cool. Yeah and also during the scene
- 1:02:47whenever he was where he falls down to crawl the actor.
- 1:02:53I can't remember saying, let's just call him.
- 1:02:55Well here we go. Derek Richardson.
- 1:02:57He those screams are real. Narak fucking name it is but the
- 1:03:00screens are real because in the process of doing this.
- 1:03:03It's briefly shown, like, in the thing that we were watching, but
- 1:03:07he pulled the chair up, and it fell on his toe and nearly split
- 1:03:11in half fool. So, he's bleeding pretty badly
- 1:03:15where he's doing this, but I don't know how much I don't know
- 1:03:18if they just kept the dialogue. Like, you know, the recording of
- 1:03:20it or if he's actually like crawling there with his foot
- 1:03:23fucked up. I mean listen if it was me and I
- 1:03:25was in that saying, I'm like I'm getting a good fucking
- 1:03:27performance, I'm going with it, you know what I mean?
- 1:03:29That's true. Yeah, I mean and it works to
- 1:03:31he's selling it pretty well. And I've got jacked up toes from
- 1:03:34years and color guard. So, you just drop equipment on
- 1:03:37you, like, you can't do shit. If you break a toe, you tape it
- 1:03:39to the one next to it. It only matters if you break
- 1:03:41your big toe, my toes are fucking gross.
- 1:03:43That's, that's so sad. I mean, it's true though, like,
- 1:03:47you can go to the hospital but they're just gonna tape it.
- 1:03:49Like, I guess who has the time and money to go tape it when you
- 1:03:52can tape it yourself like fair enough, I guess.
- 1:03:56But yeah, so like, all right, I feel it.
- 1:03:58I respect it. Yeah, this is probably like the
- 1:04:00most popular scene in the movie. This is a well-known part.
- 1:04:03Yeah. This is actually.
- 1:04:05It's like on one of the 100 greatest movie mode.
- 1:04:08Yeah. I'm kind of matter what channel?
- 1:04:09That is bravo. Bravo bravo.
- 1:04:13Hey, I wanted to say MC and I was like no, let's just Booty
- 1:04:17like is dedicated to now. Yeah, so obviously trained guy
- 1:04:24isn't letting him go. He steps over top of them grabs
- 1:04:28his hair. He was actually really grabbing
- 1:04:30his hair. Derek Richardson behind the It
- 1:04:33was like, yeah, that dude likes to grab hair.
- 1:04:36I thought I was gonna lose my hair and like he kind of holds
- 1:04:39his face up, to a mirror and then like, you see, like he's
- 1:04:42about to slit his throat. Yeah.
- 1:04:43So again, he did all of this without even speaking English.
- 1:04:46This whole scene. I, yeah, that blows my must have
- 1:04:48missed that. Oh, that's.
- 1:04:51I read that online. Oh yeah, they didn't talk about
- 1:04:53it in the thing. Okay, yeah.
- 1:04:55I, that blows my mind because he did a really good performance.
- 1:04:57Yeah, he really did so. Oh, and there was like a great
- 1:05:02moment to Because you still don't fully know what is going
- 1:05:05on, but like Josh, right before his there goes Kyle, he's like I
- 1:05:08will pay you 10 times 2 times. That's not how negotiations
- 1:05:13work? Like, let me go and then he was
- 1:05:16like, oh, I am paying to do this.
- 1:05:20Yeah, like he's not a mercenary. He's like, I'm paying for you.
- 1:05:25Yeah. It's just who.
- 1:05:27Yeah, that's a really haunting one.
- 1:05:28Yeah, I did not. Do it justice in the way.
- 1:05:31I just recapped it. Okay.
- 1:05:33It sure does love it. It's fine.
- 1:05:34Go watch the movie. Yeah.
- 1:05:36We recommend you watch every movie we talk about.
- 1:05:38Yeah. I am so past back at the hostel,
- 1:05:42the guy at the front desk, who suddenly we don't see Vala
- 1:05:46anymore. She's no longer working in the
- 1:05:48front desk. Interesting.
- 1:05:49Yeah. So the guy at the front desk,
- 1:05:54says that oh yeah. Josh checked out this morning
- 1:05:57and he's like, what know, where you checked out, too?
- 1:05:59I was like, what? No.
- 1:06:01And he's like, what about Canna over there?
- 1:06:03And he's like, yeah, no, she left, like she checked out to
- 1:06:06you. Like, she's like everybody.
- 1:06:08Check out. I don't like, dude, I'm trying.
- 1:06:09That right now. Yeah, I don't even know this.
- 1:06:13So this is what the Eagles are singing about because they all
- 1:06:17checked out, but they didn't really leave Hotel California.
- 1:06:20Yeah. Oh, you think this movie was
- 1:06:22inspired by Hotel California? Now, I remember, they're likely
- 1:06:25what I'm doing a bit? I know I was just going to say,
- 1:06:29like, it'd be funny if they're, I glisten, like, I really want
- 1:06:31to make a movie on Hotel, California, but we can't say
- 1:06:34that we did that. So let's just say we went to
- 1:06:36this really sketchy website, people love that.
- 1:06:40Yeah, so, Yeah, he asked for a key like, re rents the room but
- 1:06:47because he's technically a new renter tenant resident.
- 1:06:53I don't know what they referred to them as and hostile hostels,
- 1:06:56but technically, he's new. So when he gets up there, he's
- 1:07:00got two new roommates and it's the exact same scene as what
- 1:07:04they walked into before. I thought it was the same
- 1:07:06people. No, no.
- 1:07:07Really new girls. Yeah.
- 1:07:09Interesting. Yeah.
- 1:07:10I assume that they rotate out because we're about to see so
- 1:07:12that Lana and Natalya again and they look fucking tired.
- 1:07:15Yes, they do. But yeah, so he tries to call
- 1:07:19Josh. He finds where Olli and Canna
- 1:07:25friend had their picture taken. Yeah, we do her name was, what
- 1:07:31was it? I saw it on IMDb but like a
- 1:07:33cheeky ever said out loud. Sookie you.
- 1:07:36Yeah you. So I'm not just saying ah like
- 1:07:42You can use on the last drive on.
- 1:07:43Yeah, you guys, one of them. Yeah, which disappointing that
- 1:07:46he wasn't. I know.
- 1:07:48Lots of shout outs to you. Keep it.
- 1:07:49We never got to see you Gina. So the kids come by, they steal
- 1:07:54his phone packs, chases them and almost choked spun out.
- 1:07:57Yeah, but then he has a little. He has a little moment where he,
- 1:08:01you know, I don't know if it's the whole character development
- 1:08:04that was going on before I talking about witnessing.
- 1:08:06The one girl died but he, what's up kid, go.
- 1:08:09Yeah but also Oh, it's kind of fucked up.
- 1:08:12They just murdered a kid. Oh yeah, so he goes, He files a
- 1:08:16police report technically he was filing a report about his phone
- 1:08:19being stolen and then he also mentioned has been.
- 1:08:21Yeah. Also, those guys are gone, but
- 1:08:23my phone here. Yeah.
- 1:08:24But like most of that got cut. So it seems like he's filing a
- 1:08:27missing report on Josh and the cops was like, I mean, like,
- 1:08:31it's fine. Yeah, I know.
- 1:08:33You can like the cops everybody that works in.
- 1:08:36This town seems to be in there. I think their bribe by the
- 1:08:40organization. No way.
- 1:08:42See him later. Yeah.
- 1:08:43And so he definitely is. Yeah.
- 1:08:46How convenient that he talked to the one God?
- 1:08:50I know. Right?
- 1:08:53Maybe it's got like, on his record like maybe he's like, I'm
- 1:08:55the best English speaker. Let me talk to all the
- 1:08:57Americans. Maybe, I don't know if that was
- 1:09:00the actual intention, probably not, but I like that Cannon
- 1:09:03right there. So, He follows, he's like
- 1:09:10Svetlana, yeah. He's he's closer.
- 1:09:13No, he sees sees Natalia. Yeah, so he follows her there,
- 1:09:18like in a dive bar. Very different setting from
- 1:09:20where they've been previously and they're like in the back,
- 1:09:25they clearly don't wash their hair, they've got no makeup on
- 1:09:27it. Look like they haven't slept.
- 1:09:28They look like, they're hungover.
- 1:09:31Like they're still very, very pretty girls, but it's very
- 1:09:33clear there in a different frame of mind.
- 1:09:36Damn, they almost seem really exhausted to see them show up.
- 1:09:40Yeah. You Iraq.
- 1:09:42Like, did that just so I kind of make them more reflect how ugly
- 1:09:45they are inside throughout the movie, compared to how they were
- 1:09:48at the beginning. That's what is said, fuck that
- 1:09:52though, because they're still very, very pretty.
- 1:09:55Oh yeah. But like, you know, they will
- 1:09:58look rough here. They looked rough.
- 1:10:00I wouldn't like they just look like they weren't wearing makeup
- 1:10:02and hadn't washed their hair. No man likes being ugly.
- 1:10:05Their Eyes Were I like very much like baggy and dark.
- 1:10:09I don't know. Like they look like they just
- 1:10:10hadn't swept. Yeah, so that's not.
- 1:10:13That's not equal ugly. He is definitely okay, never
- 1:10:19mind. I'm not going to say because I
- 1:10:20would sound as a personal attack that type of a statement.
- 1:10:24I'm gonna wear it this way because I don't want to like
- 1:10:26personally attack him. There are plenty of people who
- 1:10:28say things like that, it's definitely that kind of
- 1:10:30mentality of like, I don't like women that wear makeup.
- 1:10:33You look best when you're all natural and then like they point
- 1:10:35to a picture. Of a woman who's definitely
- 1:10:38wearing me go. But it's just not like very
- 1:10:40obvious eyeshadow and lipstick and stuff and it's like, I can
- 1:10:44probably guess five products at a minimum that are on her face.
- 1:10:48Yeah, I get that. Yeah, so I don't know that I
- 1:10:52could have done without that bit of information.
- 1:10:56I'm just here to spit the facts to you but the facts they said
- 1:11:01that Josh went to an art installation which like yeah.
- 1:11:06Does sound like something Josh would have wanted to do?
- 1:11:08But like not only yeah not only always there also what?
- 1:11:12Yeah. No.
- 1:11:13I mean they're both there. Yeah.
- 1:11:17So Natalia agrees to take him to the art installation and in the
- 1:11:23car, like she's offering him gum and she's got like fat stacks on
- 1:11:27her purse man and he's like this is very suspicious and
- 1:11:33apparently this is Eli Roth's favorite scene in the whole
- 1:11:35movie. Questionable.
- 1:11:37Yeah, I don't, I don't get why. Yeah, like, I mean, as well
- 1:11:41shot. Like I just don't feel like it's
- 1:11:42that intense. No, it's nice.
- 1:11:45Just like, okay, where are we going?
- 1:11:47I guess we're going somewhere. All right.
- 1:11:49Yeah so when he walks into, by the way he sees somebody out
- 1:11:52front and it's a takishi. Miki Takashi, Takashi, Takashi
- 1:11:57Miike. God.
- 1:11:59What's his name in the movie again, Miki Takashi?
- 1:12:03Yeah yeah, I'm not even kidding. It's on.
- 1:12:06I wish the around. We didn't get any explanation.
- 1:12:09Why? He was in the movie.
- 1:12:10Yeah, we did not. We like, we watched so much
- 1:12:14amount of special features and there were still so many to go.
- 1:12:19We did not watch that one, but it did seem like when they had
- 1:12:22the dissecting hostile. Featurette.
- 1:12:27You saying something about wanting to be in it like he's
- 1:12:29just got a random throwaway line.
- 1:12:31Okay, so he is allowed, just he's just allowed straight Then
- 1:12:36he asked like what he needs to pay for admission guys, like,
- 1:12:39you can get them for free, he's walking down the hall.
- 1:12:41They see is Josh's body on the table and train, guys, just
- 1:12:45like, so when I'm up and then he turns around and yells at
- 1:12:50Natalya a lot and he calls her a bitch and she was like, oh, I
- 1:12:53got a lot of money for you. So I think technically you're my
- 1:12:56bitch which is good wine, hell of the.
- 1:13:00So these two to beefy men come in and grab him and drag him to
- 1:13:04a room, handcuff him to a chair. Third beefy man comes in with a
- 1:13:09tiny little guy. Tiny little German guy and he's
- 1:13:12like speak. And he's like, what do you want
- 1:13:14me to say? He's like, see, he's American.
- 1:13:16And he's like, I'm not American. So, like this guy like Parks is
- 1:13:24doing the same thing. The Josh was doing like begging
- 1:13:26and pleading crying all that. He realizes that the guy cannot
- 1:13:30speak English. So, he starts speaking to him in
- 1:13:32German, and he makes the German language sound, really
- 1:13:35beautiful, and I've got what he says.
- 1:13:36Here. So we don't nice.
- 1:13:37We don't have subtitles for any of the foreign language spoken
- 1:13:41like whenever there. Speaking Dutch, we don't know
- 1:13:43what they're saying. Yeah.
- 1:13:44So it's I guess it's like a decision.
- 1:13:47Yeah on there and it makes sense like you don't necessarily need
- 1:13:51to know what is being said. You get the, you get the gist.
- 1:13:56Yeah, but it's what he says, is not what I was expecting.
- 1:13:59Okay? So what he says to him is, if
- 1:14:02you kill me, I'll destroy your life.
- 1:14:04Every time you close your eyes, you'll see me.
- 1:14:06I'll be in your nightmares every night, your whole life.
- 1:14:09I will ruin it. I feel like he's trying to say
- 1:14:12like murder is bad, and it changes who you are as a person,
- 1:14:15but it really sounds like he's starting to haunt him.
- 1:14:17Yeah, I mean, that's kind of what he is doing there.
- 1:14:21That is, it's pretty powerful and then this guy looks like
- 1:14:26maybe he's moved for a moment and then he calls in the beefy.
- 1:14:30Man, who puts a ball gag on his mouth?
- 1:14:32Yeah. I like the guys, just try it out
- 1:14:35and different web it like he seems Very unsure of himself is
- 1:14:38a first timer for sure. Like he's like, how do I use
- 1:14:40this three-prong? Key tool is a taken, some
- 1:14:44scissors, and like, sipping it towards his face, so he cut off
- 1:14:46a piece of his hair or delete it in a baggie.
- 1:14:49Like a little dime bag for like a trophy.
- 1:14:51I'm assuming just like I assume the orange jacket guy took Oles
- 1:14:54jacket as a trophy truth. Yeah, I miss I'm assuming that
- 1:14:58trophies are included with the price of admission.
- 1:15:00That makes sense. Yeah.
- 1:15:02And the this is where I like I Fuel his Terror in this moment
- 1:15:09because there's nothing worse than the sound of a chainsaw
- 1:15:11side when you are trapped to the spot a Cuts.
- 1:15:15Awesome his fingers, he throws up.
- 1:15:18He's got this ball gag on his mouth and the guys like fuck I
- 1:15:20don't want him to choke to death.
- 1:15:22This is not what I paid money for.
- 1:15:24Jillian does the ball gag and he's like trying to check us
- 1:15:26throw and make sure there's no like chunky pieces and then like
- 1:15:29pack starts trying to bite him and he's like don't like that
- 1:15:32and then he goes around he's going Started saw him again but
- 1:15:37he slips on some vomit and the changes the boys, actually, from
- 1:15:41worried. Yeah, I thought it was going to
- 1:15:42be the vomit also, but looking at it should require everybody
- 1:15:46where non-slip shoes, like, in a restaurant, you would think.
- 1:15:49And also this guy is getting like a running.
- 1:15:50Go at it to. I don't understand what his game
- 1:15:52is here. I don't know.
- 1:15:54I like I like I said, I think he's a first-timer.
- 1:15:56I don't think he knows he's going to do fix him so he falls
- 1:15:59the chainsaw falls on his leg he freaks out.
- 1:16:02Wasn't that didn't that happen in one of the Texas Chainsaw
- 1:16:05Massacre movies? Yeah, it Is in the remake, okay?
- 1:16:10The sequel to the Remake? I think, I don't family's got a
- 1:16:14myth that franchise as a messy fucking timeline.
- 1:16:17It's almost as bad as Halloween's deadline at this
- 1:16:20point. Yeah, they're pretty much equal
- 1:16:22that. So, at this point like the chair
- 1:16:26is also falling apart so packs, manages to get himself loose.
- 1:16:31He shoots the guy in the head he calls for the Guard, the guard
- 1:16:33comes in. He shoots the guard, he Scoops
- 1:16:36up, his It'll thingies and then he runs.
- 1:16:39Yeah, he puts on a mask and an apron, first Smartwatch, you're
- 1:16:43still bleeding. Very heavily.
- 1:16:44People are going to have questions, but or I mean, I'm
- 1:16:48sure people get like a little bit too carried away in my
- 1:16:51accidentally hurt themselves. You know, it doesn't seem like
- 1:16:54it would be that uncommon there. Yeah, so he, he finds he like
- 1:17:00ducks into a room because like, bodyguards are walking his way,
- 1:17:03bodyguards security, whatever the fuck they're called, he,
- 1:17:06Into a room sees. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 1:17:10I just wanted to point out so whenever he's calling that
- 1:17:13security guard to come in there. You see that he's watching porn?
- 1:17:17Yeah. The porn that he is watching is
- 1:17:20called Travis really doing some research this week.
- 1:17:24Well, this one is interesting because it's called sex fever.
- 1:17:27It's a cabin fever parody. Yeah.
- 1:17:31So it was kind of funny that he acknowledged that and put it in
- 1:17:34this film. Okay.
- 1:17:35So that was That was one that was independently made, Eli Roth
- 1:17:39found out about it and thought it was funny, I'm sure.
- 1:17:41Yeah, he didn't make himself. It's an actual like porn parody.
- 1:17:45Okay. Yeah.
- 1:17:46I could see him filming that I could to they did this whole
- 1:17:49like behind the scenes for a poster in the background of a
- 1:17:53scene. Like not even that big a deal.
- 1:17:55They decided that there had been three.
- 1:17:57Shot is three shots. They make a poster of like an
- 1:18:0080's glam, rock band, because the one of the production
- 1:18:04coordinators earthy is He's like a higher-up person mark because
- 1:18:09bhikkhunis be canis beginners. Yeah I did not write his name
- 1:18:12down as I'm going off in memory. He was in a rock band animal
- 1:18:17apparently. Yeah.
- 1:18:18So they decided they were going to do that.
- 1:18:20So I could seal are often like yeah we're going to shoot.
- 1:18:24Six fever, shoot, sex you've heard?
- 1:18:26Yeah, that's funny. But yeah, he's in the closet.
- 1:18:31He's in the closet. He gets onto this cart full of
- 1:18:35bodies. And as wheeled down to like
- 1:18:39morgue crematorium butcher shop, whatever.
- 1:18:42I don't know about this guy credited as the Butcher and like
- 1:18:46he's hiding underneath a body, he drops his fingers, he's
- 1:18:49trying to pick them back up at the guy, Scoops down and grabs
- 1:18:51his fingers and I was like, dude, those are going to get
- 1:18:53reattach. Anyway, I get I get what's
- 1:18:55happening to him psychologically and why he's holding on to him,
- 1:18:58but like, yeah, those fingers were going to slow you down.
- 1:19:01If you felt the need to hold on to him for the rest of the
- 1:19:02movie, most definitely. So he Sneaks up all the guys
- 1:19:08putting body parts into the furnace and hit them with a
- 1:19:10sledgehammer. Brutal Swift, very good moment
- 1:19:14of self-preservation. He manages to find an elevator
- 1:19:17gets upstairs to a locker room. I'm really impressed with the
- 1:19:20way he is navigating around this place while we just magically
- 1:19:23stumbling into all of these places, he's not even trying
- 1:19:25he's just trying to figure out where to go but he's going to
- 1:19:27all of the right places. Yeah, there's definitely some
- 1:19:29movie magic stuff happening here like for such a For such an
- 1:19:37expensive, highly illegal organization, you would think
- 1:19:42that they would have better security.
- 1:19:45Protocols, the building is my broken down.
- 1:19:48Its there's holes in the walls. Like this guy doesn't have to go
- 1:19:50through the front door. You just have to walk out the
- 1:19:52side of the house like the building.
- 1:19:53Yeah, like that. I don't know.
- 1:19:55There's a little bit of Cinema like, yeah, we're just going to
- 1:19:59work, but I mean the setting is like an actual run down hospital
- 1:20:02at least. Yeah, or factory.
- 1:20:03And you know. Yeah.
- 1:20:06So he It's to the locker room. He sees that cop from before
- 1:20:09outside and he's like, well shit.
- 1:20:12He puts on some guys suit and gloves.
- 1:20:15It's like the drivers suit I think.
- 1:20:17Okay and then this guy that is definitely on cocaine comes in
- 1:20:22and is asking like the best way to kill somebody and like packs
- 1:20:26is like do it quickly goes nah fuck that.
- 1:20:29And he's like they arranged that the real special for me pay 50
- 1:20:31Grand and he throws the gun that he has because you know, he's
- 1:20:35holding One for whatever reason into the laundry bin.
- 1:20:39That's how you know, he's just Coke.
- 1:20:40Yeah which is quite literally chekhov's gun because packs is
- 1:20:44about to use it but like you're supposed to introduce chekhov's
- 1:20:47gun in the First Act. Come on, Eli thought you were a
- 1:20:51movie writing Prodigy movie, right ingenious.
- 1:20:56He manages like, yeah, it's just, like, run out.
- 1:20:59He gets to a car that has a key in it.
- 1:21:02Like everything seems perfect. Then he hears Candace cream.
- 1:21:04Somehow, he hears her, A big scream, nobody else's from
- 1:21:08outside but she is experiencing some pretty.
- 1:21:12This is a torch, the worst fucking thing I could ever
- 1:21:14imagine. Yes, I forgot how nasty this is.
- 1:21:17Yeah, in my head, I thought this thing went on a wall a lot
- 1:21:20longer than it is. It's just so fucking horrific
- 1:21:23that it feels like it goes on a lot longer.
- 1:21:25Yeah. So he runs back inside because
- 1:21:27you know that story earlier he has to go save the person just
- 1:21:31this is his character Arc. Yeah, so he goes back in there
- 1:21:34and he shoots up to dude because the guy he's just going in there
- 1:21:37just to hang out. And yeah, it's like get your own
- 1:21:39fucking room, buddy? Yeah, hey pal.
- 1:21:41Hey, what's up, man? But instead he just likes to sum
- 1:21:45up and then we see that he has had a blowtorch and is just
- 1:21:49putting out all up and kiss her. I specifically, like, right at
- 1:21:53her eye and her eyeball is hanging out of her head.
- 1:21:58It's nasty. It looks so recessed, the actor
- 1:22:02that played that part, it was in the future there, whenever Kept
- 1:22:06her eyes closed the entire time. They were doing the make up for
- 1:22:08that. And whenever she saw it for the
- 1:22:11first time, she cried, she, she said that she understands why I
- 1:22:15heard her commit suicide. Yeah, oh, I totally get it.
- 1:22:18Like I do not have a survival Instinct, I don't think because
- 1:22:23every time I see these movies, I'd be like I would just fucking
- 1:22:25kill myself. Like I do not have if I was hurt
- 1:22:29that badly like I don't feel Like I just like that's my
- 1:22:35survival Instinct is to just not do this anymore.
- 1:22:38I think realistically you would pass out from the pain in this
- 1:22:40situation, hope so. And to make matters worse, he
- 1:22:44liked and he doesn't know how to handle an eyeball hanging out of
- 1:22:47her head, so he just grabbed scissors.
- 1:22:48No, but hold on. Yeah, hold on.
- 1:22:51This is I get the whole not knowing how to handle it.
- 1:22:55Like maybe it's just easier to get rid of this fucking thing.
- 1:22:59That would be one thing. But what's happening is she
- 1:23:02screaming at him and he's like, I don't know what you're saying,
- 1:23:05I don't know what you're saying and he picks up the scissors.
- 1:23:08And I'm like, if you don't know what she's saying, you don't
- 1:23:11assume that she's saying. Hey, please cut my eyeball off
- 1:23:16and I will expel every ounce of pus that has ever been created.
- 1:23:20Oh man, this scene is so fucking gnarly.
- 1:23:23This is its best. Yeah, this is like the best
- 1:23:25effects in the movie. The yeah, it's awful but like in
- 1:23:28a good way. Okay.
- 1:23:28Oh there's a spider. Ah we're on the carpet right by
- 1:23:32your foot. It looks like a little crumb.
- 1:23:35Yeah fuck. I watched it move.
- 1:23:39I'm going to kill it. The BET.
- 1:23:45Give me the book right? Behind you.
- 1:23:49Oh my God. Hurry don't touch my leg.
- 1:24:00My God. Where is it?
- 1:24:11Did it go you let the Roomba suck the spider out?
- 1:24:24Like it probably went underneath the dresser.
- 1:24:33Yeah. Yeah, I'm leaving it because
- 1:24:37this is funny. Anyway.
- 1:24:43He gets her back out into the car.
- 1:24:44They run into no issues, they start driving, they get to an
- 1:24:48Alleyway. He sees Svetlana and Italian,
- 1:24:51Alex, and just fucking hit them, but they're being tailed by
- 1:24:55people from the place. So, when those people drive
- 1:24:59through, they like finish killing off those things, they
- 1:25:02just run them the fuck over. They get to a point.
- 1:25:06There's, they see the kids. The bubble gum kids and he looks
- 1:25:11over at his giant bag of bubble gum which was shown earlier
- 1:25:15whenever they were on the way to the factory in the first place.
- 1:25:17Because yeah, I guess there that's uses like a common bribe
- 1:25:20tool apparently. So, He gives the kids this
- 1:25:26entire bag of bubblegum to kill. The people tailing him and that
- 1:25:31these kids are the real mercenaries of the movie.
- 1:25:33Honestly. God.
- 1:25:34You think about it? Yeah.
- 1:25:38So we think they're going to make it to the train station.
- 1:25:40But then, there's like, what is the word for?
- 1:25:42It's not a roadblock checkpoint, checkpoint type thing.
- 1:25:48But yeah, the cops are like beating people.
- 1:25:50So he's like, don't want to deal with this.
- 1:25:53So, Actually, now that he knows the crop that cops are crooked.
- 1:25:56So they just like, fucking run out of the car, run down the
- 1:25:59hill, they get to the train station and then Canada sees her
- 1:26:04reflection and she's just like They can't and she jumps in
- 1:26:11front of a train. The actress said it was really
- 1:26:16traumatizing to watch her body being mutilated by the train
- 1:26:20because they did like over her body went through a lot.
- 1:26:23Yeah, just the way. All the makeup and everything
- 1:26:25that they did to her character, she had definitely had the
- 1:26:27worse. Yeah but packs uses the
- 1:26:30commotion that's caused by this to get on sneak onto a train.
- 1:26:36So her traumatizing a crowd of onlookers was not completely in
- 1:26:40vain. Yeah.
- 1:26:42So we So this is we're almost at the bridge between real like the
- 1:26:47fork where the alternate ending and the real ending is so the
- 1:26:51theatrical cut is, first of all, he's on the train and he's
- 1:26:55sitting there going wherever and he overhears the conversation
- 1:27:00that they had before with the man, the Dutch businessman,
- 1:27:04where he says again, I prefer to eat with my hands.
- 1:27:08What should this fucking guy is eating salad in front of another
- 1:27:11person? You just know he does.
- 1:27:13Not wash his hands very regularly.
- 1:27:15No, that's yeah, it's nasty. But he recognizes that he's
- 1:27:18there. So, he gets off at the next stop
- 1:27:20with him. And here's where we have the
- 1:27:22work. So, in the theatrical cut, he
- 1:27:24follows him to the bathroom and like, while the man is pooping,
- 1:27:29he drops the elite hunting business card underneath the
- 1:27:32stall. And the guys, like, oh shit,
- 1:27:34this is not good. And when he leans down to pick
- 1:27:36it up Pax, grabs, his hand cuts off the same fingers that are
- 1:27:40cut off. On his own hand, he comes around
- 1:27:42to the stall. Drowns him in the in his toilet
- 1:27:46in his own shit. Yes.
- 1:27:49Which that scene is even weirder now that like we know from
- 1:27:52behind the scenes that Prague toilets do not have water so he
- 1:27:55was not, they've traveled at this point, okay?
- 1:27:58Yeah. They're in a different country,
- 1:27:59I believe at this point. So yeah, he does that.
- 1:28:02And then like he holds him up, he can see his reflection in the
- 1:28:05like, trash basket thing behind him.
- 1:28:08And like it's a very similar shot to how Josh was killed,
- 1:28:11which not like packs. Would know that But yeah but
- 1:28:14it's for us. Yeah that is for us and he just
- 1:28:17like slits his throat and I gets on a train goes home.
- 1:28:19Presumably yep. So that's how that ends.
- 1:28:23So, the director's cut the way that you all are off, wanted
- 1:28:27things to be. Do you want to Ross vision?
- 1:28:31Is that when the businessman gets off the train, his daughter
- 1:28:36saskia is waiting for him who she's waiting with, we don't
- 1:28:40know. Well, because apparently that
- 1:28:41adult is no longer there after this moment.
- 1:28:44Yeah. So he follows them.
- 1:28:47They're going to go to the bathroom at the same time and
- 1:28:52when he comes out like he on his way out of the bathroom, he sees
- 1:28:55a scalpel yes on the edge of the counter.
- 1:28:57And he's like, hmm, that's not normal.
- 1:28:59And so he goes out there, he's waiting for his Order.
- 1:29:01He asked a couple women coming out if they'd seen a little girl
- 1:29:04in there. They're like please stop talking
- 1:29:06to me. So he like he just decides he's
- 1:29:09going to duck in there and he finds her teddy bear and then he
- 1:29:13starts running around and he's screaming and he's looking for
- 1:29:15and then it cuts to a shot of packs on the train, holding the
- 1:29:18little girl like covering her mouth and she's crying.
- 1:29:21Yeah, it's a really dark ending and that's the reason why they
- 1:29:25didn't go with it. They with test audiences.
- 1:29:28They thought that the ending was too like creepy.
- 1:29:31In dark. Well, so here's the thing, it in
- 1:29:34the theatrical cut. He's getting his revenge, we're
- 1:29:38rooting for him. There's a symbolism of the
- 1:29:41business man being killed the same way.
- 1:29:42Josh was Paxton kind of gets his growth Arc.
- 1:29:47Sort of like you know, he couldn't save his friends but
- 1:29:51he's at least going to avenge them, right?
- 1:29:53Yeah. In this cut, he is fully the
- 1:29:57monster. Kind of, he's kind of taken this
- 1:30:01kid away from a monster. I see his reasoning.
- 1:30:05It's not what you would need this.
- 1:30:07Not the best way to go about this.
- 1:30:09Yeah but like he's a kidnapper now.
- 1:30:12Contact authorities there. Yeah.
- 1:30:14Listen this man, I saw this man kill somebody like please just
- 1:30:17get him now. Yeah so as I like it I like it.
- 1:30:22Yeah, it's a but I Kind of like the dark nature of it.
- 1:30:25Like I like things that are super fucked up especially with
- 1:30:29endings that kind of leave you with this sense of like holy
- 1:30:32shit that was that was not cool like it's nice.
- 1:30:37It's a nice little lingering feeling that you get from stuff
- 1:30:39like that but I understand why they went with the other one but
- 1:30:45that's the movie, that's the movie.
- 1:30:48All right. Do you feel any better after
- 1:30:51talking about it? No, because there was so much of
- 1:30:54like, okay, they're back at this club, okay, they're back at this
- 1:30:56club. Okay, they're back at this club.
- 1:30:57Oh wait, why is it so easy for him to get through this
- 1:30:59Warehouse? I don't really think it's like
- 1:31:03easy for him. He's just like magically finding
- 1:31:08these places, you know, he's trying to get out, he's not
- 1:31:11trying to like go to the he just conveniently uses his
- 1:31:16environment. It wasn't convenient of him to
- 1:31:20go to the more, you try and justify this.
- 1:31:23The more, I'm gonna knock down my score.
- 1:31:25Really. Yes, you're not doing a good or
- 1:31:27knocking it down more. Yes.
- 1:31:29What are you going to rate it? A 3.
- 1:31:31A 3. A 3.
- 1:31:32Do you really think this movie is a three?
- 1:31:35I'm annoyed by it okay but think fire for a second three and a
- 1:31:39half that's better. The more you sit here and try
- 1:31:43and justify how it makes sense, makes it very obvious how it
- 1:31:46doesn't make sense and you're not coming up with a feasible
- 1:31:50justification. I I'm gonna put mine up to an 8
- 1:31:55because I really enjoy talking about this.
- 1:31:57I think that it's like an amazing display on effects.
- 1:32:00I don't necessarily think the story is strong.
- 1:32:01Like I said before, the characters are weak.
- 1:32:03The story is not strong, but the effects are great.
- 1:32:07Yeah, I mean, it's kind of like what we talked about with the
- 1:32:10guys over at the certain real, like, this movie isn't meant to
- 1:32:14be a deep movie. It's Not Meant to have these
- 1:32:17characters that you're supposed to care about have fun watching
- 1:32:20this. The same way I have.
- 1:32:21Watching pumpkin head. Those are two different types of
- 1:32:25things and this movie is not meant to be fun, I get that.
- 1:32:29But I like and that's what I get from this movie.
- 1:32:31I get this sense of like doom and I get this, I just get to
- 1:32:37see some really fucked-up shit, makes me feel uneasy.
- 1:32:40I like getting that feeling from horror movies.
- 1:32:43I like the fun horror movies, those are amazing, but whenever
- 1:32:46I get actual shit like that, that's an amazing feeling deep
- 1:32:49and uneasy at the end of it, I just don't like Like the
- 1:32:52beginning of it, drags too much, it feels very unbalanced as a
- 1:32:54movie. Would you rather be like, more
- 1:32:59of like what we get in the back end?
- 1:33:01Or would you want, what you want that?
- 1:33:03Like more splice in throughout the movie or yeah.
- 1:33:06Okay. I want like I want more of that
- 1:33:11roller coaster effect. All right.
- 1:33:12Is this your change? Yes.
- 1:33:14Okay, this is my change. This is what I would change.
- 1:33:17I would alter some of that just to make the pacing a little bit
- 1:33:21less tedious. Okay.
- 1:33:23So what's our final thing, 5.7 Have a little bit, we're not
- 1:33:27.25. Okay, Talia how a lot to say
- 1:33:31about this movie. So Travis decided at 18 minutes
- 1:33:36and he needed to take out the trash.
- 1:33:38And Talia was like, cool, I'll go with you, and then she went
- 1:33:41out there and the neighbor's dog was out in their front yard.
- 1:33:43So, she ran over to their front yard and peed in their yard.
- 1:33:46Yeah, like it's fine. Ellie was cool with it and I was
- 1:33:51walking away and I know you, I walked over to the Spy was like
- 1:33:54citizen. What the fuck, dude.
- 1:33:56And then try was comes back in sits down starts the movie and
- 1:34:01at 90 minutes till he hits her button to go outside and poop
- 1:34:03except she just goes outside and stands and then at 22 minutes
- 1:34:08she made us check under the couch twice for her toys because
- 1:34:11the first time we checked we found a toy.
- 1:34:13And then she was like, maybe there's more toys over there.
- 1:34:15Please check again and there were not more toys and then she
- 1:34:19fell asleep and had like kicking running sleep barking dreams.
- 1:34:23So, I think I'll take some From that.
- 1:34:26I think that's a good response. Yeah I know I think Tyler gives
- 1:34:29this may be a solid seven. Yeah I think she enjoys what he
- 1:34:32was going for. She had she had fun.
- 1:34:36She did. She had fun?
- 1:34:37Yeah. All right.
- 1:34:41All right intervention unit review.
- 1:34:42Okay. All right.
- 1:34:43So I got 10 and we also have reviews from listeners also, but
- 1:34:52I'll start off with the internet review and then we'll just kind
- 1:34:55of take it from there. Wait, do the listener reviews
- 1:34:59first because those are usually more favorable towards my me.
- 1:35:02Yeah, they're kind of okay, so got our man in Feldman again.
- 1:35:07All right, what's up? He says loved it.
- 1:35:10Close. Look at dark Hobbies of the
- 1:35:12crazy rich and then a lot of emotes like all of like the
- 1:35:16tools used to kill people. I like that interpretation of it
- 1:35:19and I do think that the next two movies in the trilogy explore
- 1:35:22that a little bit more. Yeah.
- 1:35:25They don't fully they take that premise and they run with.
- 1:35:27Yeah yeah and then the next one was from this is from on
- 1:35:36Twitter. Narcotic casserole.
- 1:35:39Hey, what's up man? You can't Sam.
- 1:35:42All right he says definitely a trowel to get through but
- 1:35:46fortunately Eli Roth understands the importance of a good payoff
- 1:35:49and damned it. The end of this one.
- 1:35:51Didn't feel Seth's SS fine. Sorry, I fucked that up.
- 1:35:55I agree with that. It is a satisfying ending.
- 1:35:59The theatrical cut is a satisfying ending in.
- 1:36:03I mean, you know, like I said, Eli Roth does know how to give a
- 1:36:06good ending a good impactful ending.
- 1:36:09I think about the ending of Cabin Fever where The one guy
- 1:36:11gets shot. Yeah, that's a really.
- 1:36:14Yeah, like so I do agree with that and obviously I also agree
- 1:36:18with the fact that it is kind of a trial to get through.
- 1:36:21I just think you could completely ignore the first 30
- 1:36:24to 45 minutes of this movie and you would not have this much.
- 1:36:27Yeah well yeah I mean I'm not going to say I'm not going to
- 1:36:32disagree with that I think I agree with that.
- 1:36:36Okay okay so I found the user internet review here.
- 1:36:40All right, all right. This one says hostile is a
- 1:36:43low-budget horror film that has a gimmick, the film messes with
- 1:36:47your mind and the effect is sadness.
- 1:36:48And anger is this what truly happens to people who are
- 1:36:51denied? Their once there is torture in
- 1:36:54the viewing experience. The film makes you want to go
- 1:36:57out and plant daisies and attend church right away.
- 1:36:59Its effect is brutally painful. If also is trying to State,
- 1:37:03something is how we fall victim to desire and dwell in it
- 1:37:08damaging those we seek for temporary fulfillment Be careful
- 1:37:12for today's Pleasures, can be tomorrow's suffering.
- 1:37:15The film is a cesspool of wasps and tortured as has said, mmm
- 1:37:21Set of masochists, say a sadomasochist.
- 1:37:24Twisted, Fantasy and director Roth places.
- 1:37:27You write in it? No, thanks.
- 1:37:29Yeah, it had a big opening weekend and has developed a semi
- 1:37:32cult following with the bush generation.
- 1:37:35I don't understand that, but whatever horror film should
- 1:37:38strive to be, so I give it one for that achievement.
- 1:37:41There's just kind of funny because they've basically are
- 1:37:44like singing. The Praises, like, this is a
- 1:37:45great horror film. I hate it, you know?
- 1:37:49Yeah, I mean, it it like I said, Eli Roth is a technically good
- 1:37:53director like I'm not faulting him for that.
- 1:37:56I just don't personally want to watch the entire movie.
- 1:38:01You know what I mean? That's fair.
- 1:38:03Not good. I mean it's not everybody's bag.
- 1:38:06Yeah, it's fine. I totally understand.
- 1:38:08I like it though, so. Alright, so we are at the
- 1:38:12change. Do you have a dream SQL?
- 1:38:14Or we are in this movie? Are B, has to equal.
- 1:38:16So we don't necessarily have to do that.
- 1:38:18We don't necessarily have to do it but I guess I would.
- 1:38:21It kind of depends on what ending we were thinking about.
- 1:38:25Let's take a with the intended one, like what he wanted
- 1:38:29originally. Let's see, how would you want
- 1:38:30him to continue on with that girl?
- 1:38:33I really don't know what I would want him to do.
- 1:38:35I do not like that ending. I do not like him.
- 1:38:38Kidnapping a child, it's really dark.
- 1:38:40The best case scenario. She goes to a foster home.
- 1:38:42She becomes one of the bubble gum gang kids, okay?
- 1:38:46And then we get a spin-off seeks revenge for her father.
- 1:38:50Oh, I guess she South the people at Big hunt organization.
- 1:38:55Okay? Elite hunting big hunt.
- 1:38:59I don't know. I was blinking.
- 1:39:00I was trying to get okay, I like that.
- 1:39:04Could you relate to I mean, Paxton's whole random.
- 1:39:11Oh yeah, childhood trauma like. Hey, we're having a good time.
- 1:39:15Did I tell you about why I dissociate every other night
- 1:39:19Fair? Okay, I can see it.
- 1:39:21I'm going to choose the kids because they were into like the
- 1:39:24whole they were basically so murder for bubblegum.
- 1:39:26They're basically like playing trick or treat 24.
- 1:39:29So trick-or-treat on hard mode. Exactly.
- 1:39:33Yeah, it's fun. You know, they make their lives
- 1:39:35interesting, they are so and they like candy, I Candy.
- 1:39:39That's what would be great. We give you all our socials of
- 1:39:43the beginning. I'm not going to do it again.

- 1:40:39name before we get to this, but I wanted to find a horror movie
- 1:40:42that he's in, so that way we can have all of Rory, Gilmore's

- 1:40:47war movie that he's in and I was like, you know what, looks like
