- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:09Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good
- 0:11Speaker 2: morning. Welcome to a beautiful Thursday. Joakim and I actually
- 0:15Speaker 2: have quite an exciting day lined up, but I'm not
- 0:17Speaker 2: sure if we can say just yet. Yeah, but very soon, Sonia,
- 0:21Speaker 2: it's gonna be Hari Rayaa in Singapore and all over
- 0:24Speaker 2: the world. Exciting times. Stay with us. Singapore's number one
- 0:28Speaker 2: hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 2: If you're tuning in and you are preparing for Hari Raya,
- 0:36Speaker 2: you probably got all your baju baju already, but maybe
- 0:39Speaker 2: in terms of food and all that, you're going to
- 0:40Speaker 2: start buying some stuff to prep and everything for the visitors.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Loads of people are prepping for Hari Raya. Yes, they're
- 0:46Speaker 2: also prepping for 2 XU and Sonia.
- 0:48Speaker 2: How do you do both at the same time? It's
- 0:50Speaker 2: just like CNY, right? Like if you want to keep fit,
- 0:54Speaker 2: the worst possible time to have to do it is
- 0:56Speaker 2: during CNY. Can I say on Monday, I went running
- 1:00Speaker 2: with our favorite child, Benjamin King. Why is he your
- 1:04Speaker 2: favorite child? Singapore's favorite child. Singapore's national treasure.
- 1:09Speaker 2: This guy is a crook. He tells me, joking, I
- 1:12Speaker 2: have never done anything more than a 12 km run.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I said, Let's go 14 km. Let's go at a
- 1:17Speaker 2: 5 minute, 12th pace or 5:20. That's fast, right? He says, OK, yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 2: let's do it. This guy goes at a 4:45, 4:50,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and like, Ben, are you sure? It's like, No, you
- 1:26Speaker 2: know what, I do it now, but my body will
- 1:28Speaker 2: be cramped up. Oh my God, you don't sound like that.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Why do you make him sound like that? This crook
- 1:34Speaker 2: we all know and love, I love him, shout out
- 1:36Speaker 2: to you, Ben. All the best. Yeah, absolutely. So, hey,
- 1:39Speaker 2: you know what, whatever it is that you're prepping for,
- 1:41Speaker 2: we wish you all the best. I mean, I wouldn't
- 1:43Speaker 2: mind going to my friend's place for open house.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I think some of them are doing it. There will
- 1:49Speaker 2: come a day, and I'll make sure this day happens
- 1:51Speaker 2: before our time here 987 is done. I either want
- 1:54Speaker 2: a 10 p.m. with you or we do a high
- 1:56Speaker 2: rock mix doubles together. Come on, for the memes. I
- 2:00Speaker 2: predict I will be busy for the vibes.
- 2:03Speaker 2: For the plot the plot, yes. Very happy to say
- 2:05Speaker 2: I placed an order for something, Sonia, that's being talked
- 2:10Speaker 2: about now ever since the Academy Awards. Not some game.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's not a, not a game. It involves a movie
- 2:17Speaker 2: and its soundtrack. Oh, I was gonna say, OK, because
- 2:21Speaker 2: I saw the swag bag that was given over at
- 2:24Speaker 2: the Academy Awards had a lot of skincare and aesthetic
- 2:26Speaker 2: related stuff.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I was wondering what facial package you bought. How much
- 2:30Speaker 2: is a swag bag for the Oscars this year? Was
- 2:33Speaker 2: it above 100? I don't know. I didn't check, but
- 2:36Speaker 2: there were a lot of um wellness and aesthetic stuff
- 2:38Speaker 2: that were in the box, and all that. OK, exactly. OK,
- 2:42Speaker 2: we'll find out what Joim placed a pre-order for in
- 2:45Speaker 2: just a little while. OK, Joe, what did you place
- 2:47Speaker 2: a pre-order for and how much did it set you back?
- 2:50Speaker 2: So I think I paid about
- 2:52Speaker 2: 120 bucks including shipping for the soundtrack to the movie Sinners. Oh, OK.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I, I have it on vinyl record. It looks
- 3:03Speaker 2: absolutely amazing. It's a very nice red and blue transparent
- 3:06Speaker 2: vinyl disc, and I bought the soundtrack. Of course, Ryan
- 3:10Speaker 2: Coogler and Ludwig Goransson, when they work together, it's magic.
- 3:14Speaker 2: It's like Chris Nolan and Hans Zimmer, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Immediate chemistry. So don't forget Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goranson
- 3:20Speaker 2: have a lot of history together. They did the Black
- 3:22Speaker 2: Panther movies together. They did Creed together as well. And
- 3:26Speaker 2: for Sinners, the soundtrack and especially for the actor Miles Catton,
- 3:30Speaker 2: he's a singer, and this was his first ever role.
- 3:33Speaker 2: This man can sing. He can, he can sing. It
- 3:36Speaker 2: sent chills down my spine if you know, if you
- 3:39Speaker 2: watch the movie. I mean, at least speaking of soundtracks, right?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Some piping hot tea is about to be poured from
- 3:45Speaker 2: the euphoria situation. Did you see what Labyrinth posted just
- 3:48Speaker 2: like a few days ago? So I don't know if
- 3:50Speaker 2: you watched Euphoria. I don't think you did. Labyrinth in Labyrinth, yes, yes.
- 3:56Speaker 2: But um, I love Euphoria. It's a gritty show. Just
- 3:59Speaker 2: before you think it's just a high school show. It's
- 4:01Speaker 2: really not just that. The one in Zendaya, right? Yes, yeah, it's, it's.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It's really good. I, I love it so much and
- 4:06Speaker 2: that's where Jacob and Lotte got pretty much, he popped
- 4:08Speaker 2: off after that show. Um, soundtrack by Labyrinth is fantastic.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I'm surprised you didn't take a listen to it, but it,
- 4:15Speaker 2: it suits. In fact, I feel like it made the
- 4:18Speaker 2: show what it is as well, right? Um, but Labyrinth
- 4:21Speaker 2: is not too happy apparently. He said he's out and
- 4:24Speaker 2: he's done with Euphoria.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So we're still waiting for what the tea is about.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I'm gonna guess, yeah, yeah, issues, how much his rates are.
- 4:33Speaker 2: So we're curious to know and more will unfold very soon,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I guess, because we're eagerly awaiting the next season. Thursday marks,
- 4:40Speaker 2: I guess, the last few days of your March holidays,
- 4:43Speaker 2: but you've got a bonus day.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Off on Monday, especially if you don't, um, observe or
- 4:48Speaker 2: celebrate Hari Raya, you can sleep in. On that note
- 4:50Speaker 2: about Imman Fundy, did you see the Adidas Singapore latest
- 4:54Speaker 2: picture of her, I didn't in the Hari Raya getup.e. Yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 2: so I think they're all wearing brown and Adidas original
- 5:00Speaker 2: suit and all that. They look very good. And he's
- 5:02Speaker 2: giving you a heads up, yeah.
- 5:04Speaker 2: You're gonna see more of Iman Fundy very soon. OK.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's all I can say. I'm sure that she has
- 5:08Speaker 2: a new chapter as well, you know, she's got a
- 5:10Speaker 2: new era ahead of her on her tippy toes. Yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 2: a lot of stuff going on for her. We got
- 5:15Speaker 2: some Taylor Swift and the Chainsmokers that's lined up in
- 5:18Speaker 2: just a bit. Stay tuned. Coming up in a few minutes.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I know it's not even 7 a.m. yet, but we
- 5:23Speaker 2: haven't done this in a while, Joakim. We got Bordo
- 5:26Speaker 2: Crime coming up just before wow, where are we headed to?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Just to really wake you up right now, this one
- 5:33Speaker 2: I think you were really face palmed. This happened over
- 5:36Speaker 2: in the Clementi area, which I don't think we've actually, well,
- 5:41Speaker 2: in a matter of speaking been to for Bono crime.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Let's find a good adjective for our friends over at Clementi,
- 5:49Speaker 2: shall we? I can think of a few. I think
- 5:51Speaker 2: we haven't started with the letter C in a while.
- 5:53Speaker 2: If you have never heard this.
- 5:55Speaker 2: segment before. We don't ever make fun of serious crime-related
- 6:01Speaker 2: cases where people get hurt or you know, like any
- 6:05Speaker 2: anything serious, too serious happens. We, we focus on the
- 6:09Speaker 2: ones that make us face palm. Like the what were
- 6:12Speaker 2: you thinking kind of crimes that happened here in Singapore? Yes.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So are you ready? Let's go, Sonia. Bodo crime, crime, crime.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And today we are going to the callous streets of Clementi. Wow,
- 6:27Speaker 2: the Cala Cala. OK. What happened over there? Um, a
- 6:31Speaker 2: fish got stolen.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait, wait, when you, when you say fish, right,
- 6:37Speaker 2: I know, I know I'm thinking like loohan fish or
- 6:41Speaker 2: what's the other one, the A Arowana, OK.
- 6:47Speaker 2: This man who's in his sixties was actually arrested for
- 6:50Speaker 2: suspected theft of an arowana that's worth $1400. Yeah, breeds,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and I know to be very, very expensive. Yeah, and
- 7:02Speaker 2: they're popular with the people that believe in feng shui
- 7:05Speaker 2: or like, I don't know, they at one point believedhan
- 7:08Speaker 2: got numbers or something, right? Do you remember this?
- 7:11Speaker 2: As a kid, I don't know why. I heard, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um, this,
- 7:16Speaker 2: unfortunately for this shop over in Clemency, um, they, they,
- 7:21Speaker 2: I think they have some proof and receipts that there
- 7:24Speaker 2: was a case of housebreaking in a retail outlet. OK.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So this is what is categorized under the police showed up.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Preliminary investigations revealed that someone actually damaged the rear gate
- 7:34Speaker 2: of the shop to, to sneak in.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Gained entry into the premises, stole this Arowana fish that
- 7:41Speaker 2: was reported missing. Unfortunately, the fish is dead. I think the,
- 7:45Speaker 2: the guy who stole it, like, obviously didn't know what
- 7:48Speaker 2: to do or he panicked and he didn't put it
- 7:49Speaker 2: in the right environment. He was arrested within 13 hours
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the report. That's a loss of a life not
- 7:56Speaker 2: worth it. And also loss of income for the store owners. Exactly.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And if convicted, he may be jailed for up to
- 8:02Speaker 2: 10 years or fined for theft.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I don't know what he was trying to do. I
- 8:07Speaker 2: think they're still investigating at this point, but, um, the
- 8:11Speaker 2: police are highly recommending you to make sure you secure
- 8:14Speaker 2: your doors, have your CCTVs rolling. Don't just put it
- 8:17Speaker 2: for show, ah, make sure it's working. Can I say it?
- 8:20Speaker 2: There was something fishy happening over at Clementi. But how
- 8:24Speaker 2: serious was it on a scale of 1 to 10?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Actually it's quite serious. This guy might go to jail. It's.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It is serious. Yes, yes, it's not, well, not to
- 8:35Speaker 2: put a value on the life of like a guppy
- 8:38Speaker 2: versusana lah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I mean, it's a life is a life. I've had guppies.
- 8:43Speaker 2: They didn't live very long, unfortunately. What was your guppy's name?
- 8:46Speaker 2: I didn't, I didn't, they didn't live long enough for
- 8:48Speaker 2: me to give them names.
- 8:51Speaker 2: They might have survived the worst
- 8:53Speaker 1: wake up.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 8:59Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Coming
- 9:02Speaker 1: up
- 9:02Speaker 2: in just a bit, aside from $5000 that could be yours,
- 9:06Speaker 2: new fear unlocked Joakim. Based off this incident, I'll tell
- 9:10Speaker 2: you more in a bit. What happened this time? This
- 9:13Speaker 2: happened over in the Chinatown area involving animals. No, no,
- 9:16Speaker 2: I details in a bit. Singapore's number one hit
- 9:18Speaker 1: music
- 9:19Speaker 2: station.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm taking you back to present day right now. Let's go.
- 9:24Speaker 2: New fear unlocked and I'm taking you over to the
- 9:27Speaker 2: People's Park complex area. So earlier you mentioned this, this
- 9:30Speaker 2: does not involve any animal or insects, rodents. No, no
- 9:37Speaker 2: creepy crawlies. Don't know whether this is better or worse
- 9:41Speaker 2: because I think some people could have gotten seriously injured. Now,
- 9:44Speaker 2: you know sometimes when you walk around, right?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Do you worry about certain, you know, um, installations or
- 9:51Speaker 2: like beams or what like at the building that may
- 9:54Speaker 2: look a little bit old or unstable? So sometimes the
- 9:57Speaker 2: scaffolding scare me and also, I mean, our moms and
- 10:02Speaker 2: dads will call it the bamboo pole. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 2: They always say don't walk underneath it, right? Exactly, I
- 10:06Speaker 2: won't do that. I wouldn't do that. I'll try to find.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Shelter as soon as I can. True. I think it's
- 10:10Speaker 2: just we are conditioned right from when we were kids
- 10:13Speaker 2: and watching too much of Final Destination. So walking over
- 10:17Speaker 2: at the People's Park area, you would know that it's
- 10:19Speaker 2: a bit of an older building. I suspect maybe, and
- 10:22Speaker 2: this is just me speculating, OK, so please correct me
- 10:25Speaker 2: if I'm wrong. It does look like perhaps it needs
- 10:28Speaker 2: some maintenance soon. As you know,
- 10:31Speaker 2: Chinatown has quite a few old buildings. There's like the
- 10:35Speaker 2: Chinatown and the closest to the 60s or 50s Singapore.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And I think People's Park falls under the old school. Yeah,
- 10:43Speaker 2: for sure, yes. Two women were walking about on the, the,
- 10:47Speaker 2: the side area of the building, but it's sheltered, OK,
- 10:50Speaker 2: part of the building.
- 10:51Speaker 2: When a metal panel from the ceiling fell straight on them.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Can you imagine that? They were injured. So, um, they
- 10:59Speaker 2: were injured after it fell on them around the walkway area.
- 11:02Speaker 2: So I think the incident occurred in broad daylight around
- 11:05Speaker 2: like 1:45, 2 p.m. Just casually walking along the pathway,
- 11:08Speaker 2: the panel struck the lower legs of both women. So
- 11:11Speaker 2: I guess they were walking when it happened lah.
- 11:14Speaker 2: And this is just, you know, it, it honestly looks
- 11:18Speaker 2: like the panel has been there since the building was built. I,
- 11:24Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm not gonna make assumptions, but it
- 11:26Speaker 2: does look quite old. I'm gonna say this, this is
- 11:28Speaker 2: a lawsuit.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It might be, you know, in Singapore, these ladies might
- 11:36Speaker 2: actually win. They might. So they sustained abrasions and swelling
- 11:40Speaker 2: in the affected areas. No pictures, of course, but they
- 11:43Speaker 2: went to the doctor immediately, which, you know, the doctor
- 11:46Speaker 2: then gave them a letter and I think a smaller
- 11:50Speaker 2: metal panel actually fell the day before.
- 11:53Speaker 2: So I think this is, they have to cordon off
- 11:57Speaker 2: the whole place and do something about the metal ceilings.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna be very careful with my words here. Allegedly,
- 12:03Speaker 2: this could be, this could be negligence now. Yeah, so
- 12:06Speaker 2: we'll see what happens. Hopefully the women are fine, um,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but you know, if you are out and about, especially
- 12:11Speaker 2: it's March holidays, you don't want anything to ruin your holidays,
- 12:14Speaker 2: just be aware of your surroundings, OK, and choose another
- 12:18Speaker 2: path if you feel like it doesn't look safe.
- 12:19Speaker 2: You're crossing the road, especially, maybe get off your AirPods
- 12:23Speaker 2: and whatsoever for a while, then put it back on
- 12:24Speaker 2: once you finish. Yeah, just enjoy your holiday. I have
- 12:27Speaker 2: a quick question for you, Miss Sonia Chew. Yes, question being,
- 12:30Speaker 2: when I say acts of bravery, yes, what kind of
- 12:35Speaker 2: acts do you think of? Um, like, you know, the
- 12:38Speaker 2: SCDF saving someone, or yeah, like, like just maybe you
- 12:43Speaker 2: walk by and you see someone in trouble and you
- 12:45Speaker 2: help them.
- 12:46Speaker 2: When we come back here on the show, a story
- 12:49Speaker 2: showing you about how some people are built different and
- 12:52Speaker 2: they are very brave. OK, and it's not either one
- 12:55Speaker 2: of us, right? No.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And I don't think, given the situation, I don't think
- 13:00Speaker 2: we would do this as well. Really? Yeah. OK, well,
- 13:03Speaker 2: we'll find out in just a bit. The sun is
- 13:05Speaker 2: shining very brightly here in Singapore. It is actually, this
- 13:08Speaker 2: is the first time this entire week that we can
- 13:10Speaker 2: actually see really bright ray of sun through the frosted
- 13:14Speaker 2: glass here. Nice to have some natural light in our studio.
- 13:18Speaker 2: But again, if you just joined us earlier, I asked
- 13:20Speaker 2: Sonia to give me examples of acts of bravery. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Any more examples you wanna give aside from our friends
- 13:28Speaker 2: over at SCDF SPF and all that? You know, like
- 13:31Speaker 2: you know when when um
- 13:35Speaker 2: Our, our workers out here, you know, maybe they see
- 13:37Speaker 2: someone in trouble or like they saved a dog or
- 13:40Speaker 2: a cat or something. Yeah. Are you ready, Sonia, for
- 13:43Speaker 2: the next level of bravery to which I don't think
- 13:47Speaker 2: anybody will ever reach that level? Why do I feel
- 13:49Speaker 2: like this is gonna be a joke? It's not a joke.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It really happened. OK. Are you ready? Yes. Voting against
- 13:55Speaker 2: Kim Jong-un. Oh no, I have no comment. I have
- 13:59Speaker 2: no comment.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That's very brave if you ask me. That's what I,
- 14:04Speaker 2: that's not what I expected. OK, so are you ready
- 14:06Speaker 2: for some election results over North Korea? Yeah, I'm ready.
- 14:09Speaker 2: So there was a 99.99% turnout of those who voted
- 14:14Speaker 2: for the elections. So 0.0037% people, they were not able
- 14:21Speaker 2: to vote because they were either overseas or.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So the results are out 99.93% voted for Kim Jong-un, yes,
- 14:32Speaker 2: but the entire internet now is wondering who are the 0.07%
- 14:37Speaker 2: and that's already already subtracted the people that cannot vote, right? Yeah, 0.07%
- 14:43Speaker 2: of people voted against Kim Jong-un.
- 14:47Speaker 2: That's, that's, yeah, you're right, that's pretty brave. That's what
- 14:50Speaker 2: I'm not the kind of story I thought we were
- 14:55Speaker 2: gonna share. I told you I did not expect that.
- 14:58Speaker 2: But yes, you are not wrong. Yeah, yeah. I mean,
- 15:01Speaker 2: I wonder what you were thinking to just put the
- 15:03Speaker 2: X on the mark that someone isn't. Could it be,
- 15:07Speaker 2: could it be a situation where the votes.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Or the slips were spoiled, you know, like some people
- 15:12Speaker 2: don't want to vote or they damage the vote or something.
- 15:15Speaker 2: It happens in every country. I highly doubt it, but OK.
- 15:18Speaker 2: All right, I mean, there's always a reason. Coming up
- 15:21Speaker 2: in less than 10 minutes, still no luck with giving
- 15:25Speaker 2: away the 50.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I have a feeling sometime around maybe next week we
- 15:29Speaker 2: might start to snowball. I don't know, maybe. I've never
- 15:31Speaker 2: ever heard of a radio station desperate to give you
- 15:35Speaker 2: $5000 money until I played 987 Secret Sound.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Well, um, it seems like we're getting quite a number
- 15:42Speaker 2: of repeated answers now. Yeah. So please, um, I, I
- 15:45Speaker 2: really hope that you've been listening to every show and
- 15:47Speaker 2: that you've caught up, at least with the morning show.
- 15:50Speaker 2: We've had a variety of answers already. Strike it off
- 15:52Speaker 2: your list. We are having our 987 in about a
- 15:55Speaker 2: few hours' time. I wonder whether our boss Janice say,
- 15:57Speaker 2: OK guys, next Monday we snowball. Exactly. So we'll keep
- 16:01Speaker 2: you updated. In the meantime, wait for that queue to call.
- 16:05Speaker 2: 87 secret.
- 16:10Speaker 2: that
- 16:12Speaker 2: Here we go. How many weeks have we been doing
- 16:14Speaker 2: this already with no winner just yet? About 33 weeks? OK,
- 16:18Speaker 2: almost a month now. So you would have heard plenty
- 16:21Speaker 2: of guesses, not just on our show, but on other
- 16:23Speaker 2: shows throughout the day. Yeah, just don't say clicking of
- 16:27Speaker 2: a pen. Yeah, stop, stop with that. And maybe the
- 16:29Speaker 2: hole puncture. Oh, that has been said that as well. Yeah. OK,
- 16:33Speaker 2: listen very carefully. Here's the sound you have to identify.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I'm going to play a little louder this morning, OK?
- 16:38Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And one more time.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You know what to do.
- 16:47Speaker 2: That sound
- 16:49Speaker 2: 87.
- 16:54Speaker 2: That
- 16:56Speaker 2: Hi, good morning. This is James. Hello James. Yeah, how
- 16:59Speaker 2: are you guys doing? We're OK. What about you, man?
- 17:01Speaker 2: What are you up to on this very nice Thursday morning? Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 2: I'm on the way to work. I'm trying to call
- 17:06Speaker 2: you some time. OK, well, success when it comes to
- 17:09Speaker 2: calling through, but will you be able to guess the sound?
- 17:13Speaker 2: Take a listen one more time.
- 17:16Speaker 2: James, for $5000 what is 987's secret sound? Stopwatch. Stopwatch
- 17:23Speaker 2: is your final answer. That's right. You are incorrect. Your
- 17:28Speaker 2: chance to play 987's secret sound continues.
- 17:34Speaker 2: sound.
- 17:35Speaker 2: So, according to boss Jen it's, just one word. Nope.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Not the answer we're looking for, but James, it's OK.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You've qualified for our big grand draw anyway. Enjoy yourself, man.
- 17:46Speaker 2: We'll see you there at the big grand draw, James.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Have a nice day. Bye-bye. You too. Bye bye.
- 17:52Speaker 2: One guess win.
- 17:56Speaker 2: What's that sound? Coming up in a few minutes, your
- 17:59Speaker 2: final two chances to walk away with an own day's
- 18:02Speaker 2: shopping experience. Only because we just played a Lisa song, right? Um,
- 18:07Speaker 2: have you been watching this Netflix series featuring Jisoo? No, no,
- 18:10Speaker 2: I didn't. My mom's watching.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I saw it. It popped up on my recommended shows,
- 18:14Speaker 2: of course. Yeah, and apparently my mom is hooked. She
- 18:17Speaker 2: loves it. She loves it. There's some good reviews about it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: So yeah, I think it's next on my list. But
- 18:22Speaker 2: right here on the show, your shots at winning that
- 18:25Speaker 2: shopping experience happening next. Wake up.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Scoop next to
- 18:30Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 18:33Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Coming
- 18:35Speaker 2: up in just a bit. Do not answer this yet, Joakim, OK,
- 18:38Speaker 2: and don't say me, OK? Don't say my name. Uh.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Who is your blurest friend? Sonia Chew.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yeah
- 18:47Speaker 2: All the details coming up in just a bit. Stay tuned.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I need to tell you a story and uh to
- 18:57Speaker 2: give you the context, OK? Let's go. But I, I suppose, Joakim,
- 19:01Speaker 2: you have a think about who you feel could be
- 19:04Speaker 2: the most blur friend that you have and please don't
- 19:06Speaker 2: say me. No, no, no, I think between you and I,
- 19:09Speaker 2: you're the blur one, right? We take turns. Yes, true, true, true.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I think for me, I get very blur when the
- 19:15Speaker 2: convo goes on for too long. You, you basically check out.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I just zone out of the conversation. Yeah, for you,
- 19:21Speaker 2: it's when I tell you to not make things obvious.
- 19:25Speaker 2: OK, like songs don't look where, where, where, where, but
- 19:28Speaker 2: that's not me being blur. And then sometimes directions as well, lah.
- 19:31Speaker 2: That's true. OK, you're not wrong. Whenever I'm in Sonia's car, right?
- 19:34Speaker 2: I'm like, Sons, we don't need the GPS because it
- 19:36Speaker 2: interferes with the music. I want to hear the music.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I'll direct you. She'll go, You sure? You know, ah,
- 19:40Speaker 2: I don't sometimes I don't trust. You sure? I don't trust.
- 19:45Speaker 2: OK, Joakim is quite good at navigating like shopping malls.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I always get lost. I always get lost. If you
- 19:50Speaker 2: need help over at Suntec City, I'm your guide. So,
- 19:53Speaker 2: so just a couple of days back, um, I don't
- 19:56Speaker 2: know if any of my friends who were involved in
- 19:58Speaker 2: this incident are tuning in now. I'm not sure if
- 20:00Speaker 2: it's too early for them. Um.
- 20:03Speaker 2: There was a, there was a spontaneous paddle game, OK?
- 20:06Speaker 2: And my friend was like, Hey, um, we actually managed
- 20:08Speaker 2: to book two courts at this particular place. Um, do
- 20:11Speaker 2: you want to join because now we have, we have
- 20:13Speaker 2: too much space. So I said, um, yeah, OK, sure,
- 20:16Speaker 2: it's spontaneous. I was like, and you know, I keep
- 20:18Speaker 2: my paddle racket in my car just kind of lying
- 20:21Speaker 2: around at all times. So I was like, yeah, sure,
- 20:23Speaker 2: you know, grab some as leisure and I, I went, right?
- 20:26Speaker 2: So then she goes, OK.
- 20:27Speaker 2: It is this particular, I'm just gonna say it. It's
- 20:30Speaker 2: not a promotion, but I mean there are only that
- 20:32Speaker 2: many paddle courts in Singapore, soon to be more, I'm sure.
- 20:36Speaker 2: So she's like, OK, prime paddle, um, courts, court, court
- 20:39Speaker 2: number 6 and 8 or something like that. OK. What
- 20:43Speaker 2: does familiar? Um, it's, it's at Dempsey. So then, and
- 20:47Speaker 2: it's one of the more, I guess, popular ones. So
- 20:50Speaker 2: I go, OK, yeah, I mean, I know which one
- 20:51Speaker 2: that is. So I, I drove down. I was early.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I was early and I was like, hey, I got
- 20:55Speaker 2: a parking space. I was so happy, you know, I
- 20:56Speaker 2: went down to change and everything. And then Jeremy, my partner,
- 21:00Speaker 2: texted me and he goes, You sure it's Prime Pedal
- 21:03Speaker 2: Dempsey or Prime Pedal? There's apparently another one. So then
- 21:06Speaker 2: I quickly checked with her because I assumed that it
- 21:09Speaker 2: was the Dempsey one. And she goes, Yes, yes, yes, Dempsey.
- 21:12Speaker 2: So I said, OK, correct. So I continued peacefully changing
- 21:15Speaker 2: out into my athleisure, right?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Um, I walked over to the court and it seemed empty,
- 21:20Speaker 2: but there was some, you know, leftover paddle balls over there.
- 21:24Speaker 2: So I thought maybe someone didn't clear that game, but
- 21:26Speaker 2: it seemed like there was going to be a coaching
- 21:27Speaker 2: session there. So then I walked up to the two
- 21:30Speaker 2: ladies that were standing by court number 6, and I said, hey, um,
- 21:33Speaker 2: do you know so and so, my friend's name? And
- 21:36Speaker 2: they go, No, no, we're here for a lesson.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I was like, Alama, how come they're here for a
- 21:41Speaker 2: lesson when the court number that I was told was
- 21:44Speaker 2: number 6. So then our other friend arrives and he goes, Hey,
- 21:49Speaker 2: what's up? I said, Hey, maybe you want to check
- 21:50Speaker 2: with the office because they said this is their court,
- 21:53Speaker 2: and I was ready to throw hands, you know, I
- 21:57Speaker 2: was ready to fight for my court, you know, I mean, not,
- 21:59Speaker 2: not in a rude way, but he said, OK, OK,
- 22:01Speaker 2: I'll go check. He goes to check, and he went
- 22:04Speaker 2: to check and he comes back. He said,
- 22:06Speaker 2: I got some weird news. Our names are not in
- 22:09Speaker 2: here at all. And I was like, wait, what? And
- 22:13Speaker 2: half of us were there, like half of us were
- 22:15Speaker 2: there already.
- 22:16Speaker 2: So then he calls, actually his wife was the one that,
- 22:19Speaker 2: you know, made the booking, I guess, or made the arrangements,
- 22:23Speaker 2: and she goes, huh, impossible. I'm at the car park already,
- 22:26Speaker 2: it has to be this one. So it's like, no, no,
- 22:28Speaker 2: back and forth. Turns out,
- 22:31Speaker 2: It was another chord called Love All that is not
- 22:35Speaker 2: even a similar name to Prime paddle. Yeah, how did Loved?
- 22:39Speaker 2: I mean, I would really be amused if my friends
- 22:42Speaker 2: are tuning in right now. She said that her friend
- 22:45Speaker 2: was the one that made the booking, and when she
- 22:47Speaker 2: said love all, she thought that she was saying things
- 22:49Speaker 2: like love y'all. She's like, oh, love y'all. And she just,
- 22:54Speaker 2: I don't know where Pedal came from, but
- 22:57Speaker 2: Somehow lost in translation, half of us went to the
- 23:00Speaker 2: wrong place and by the time we got there, we
- 23:03Speaker 2: missed about like 20 minutes of the booking. I'm just
- 23:06Speaker 2: trying to think of the WhatsApp message. I booked, OK. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 2: I don't know. I need to see the message now,
- 23:13Speaker 2: but dude, you're, I'm just as confused as you are,
- 23:16Speaker 2: but we had a good laugh about it. Honestly, we
- 23:18Speaker 2: just burst out laughing.
- 23:20Speaker 2: And uh it got me thinking about the times where
- 23:22Speaker 2: I may have misconstrued a message or like misunderstood a
- 23:24Speaker 2: message or just been the blur person that I am sometimes,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you know. So we want to open up the phone lines, 669-11987.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Do you have that one friend or family member that
- 23:36Speaker 2: is blur sometimes? Look, we all have our moments like
- 23:39Speaker 2: Joakim said. If they are, not to worry. What's up
- 23:42Speaker 2: for grabs a very nice shopping experience over at Oa.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Give them a nice pair of spectacles. They can see better, better, clearer,
- 23:49Speaker 2: have more clarity in life. Give us a call or
- 23:52Speaker 2: a WhatsApp message once again if you wanna call us.
- 23:55Speaker 2: 669-11987 or you can drop us a message 90050987. Who
- 24:01Speaker 2: is that blur friend or family member of yours? Let
- 24:05Speaker 2: us know. That's all we got to say, OK? We
- 24:07Speaker 2: love to hear your story. I was just telling you
- 24:09Speaker 2: the story about how um went for a spontaneous paddle
- 24:13Speaker 2: game with my friends a couple of days back and
- 24:15Speaker 2: uh somehow our friend gave us the completely wrong court name.
- 24:20Speaker 2: And it was not even remotely close to the name
- 24:24Speaker 2: of the actual court. Actually hearing your story about the
- 24:27Speaker 2: peddle courts, right, reminds me of how us here in Singapore,
- 24:31Speaker 2: especially those men who play football. OK. Look, we, we
- 24:35Speaker 2: know that we love playing on astroturf and we play
- 24:37Speaker 2: cage football, OK, but when we say the cage.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Cage. It sounds like the cage at Dempsey. No, yeah,
- 24:43Speaker 2: I see that one. I the one over at Kallang. Oh,
- 24:46Speaker 2: there's more than one place called the cage cage, and
- 24:49Speaker 2: even places that are not called the cage, even Turf
- 24:51Speaker 2: City in the past, we call it, yeah, play the
- 24:53Speaker 2: cage la. nickname. So when our football group chat say, OK,
- 24:56Speaker 2: today is Tuesday night, 9:30 p.m. at the cage, you're like,
- 24:59Speaker 2: which one? Which one?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Or is it the real place called the cage or
- 25:03Speaker 2: the place we nicknamed the cage? Give directions. Funny enough,
- 25:07Speaker 2: the cage is where I took like one or two
- 25:09Speaker 2: paddle lessons, intro to paddle kind of over at the cage. No, no, no,
- 25:16Speaker 2: a totally different area. But we're gonna head to messages first.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Our question for you here today was, do you have
- 25:22Speaker 2: that one friend or family member that's kind of a bit?
- 25:26Speaker 2: And you, you need to make sure that this person
- 25:28Speaker 2: doesn't misunderstand. Say good morning to Nanny on WhatsApp. Morning, Sojo.
- 25:34Speaker 2: It is definitely my husband. Always the blur one. I
- 25:38Speaker 2: need to know why. Yeah, I can only imagine the
- 25:40Speaker 2: stories that Nanny. I think she's typing right now actually,
- 25:43Speaker 2: so we'll see whether we get some actual stories very soon.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Might be a long story over there. I mean, look, if,
- 25:50Speaker 2: if you're talking about my family, I think my dad
- 25:52Speaker 2: will say my mom is quite blur lah.
- 25:55Speaker 2: No comment. You won't have any comment, but I've told
- 25:58Speaker 2: you a couple of stories before that were quite, quite funny.
- 26:02Speaker 2: That's why I don't, can I just say one like
- 26:04Speaker 2: really quickly. This is a story I'll never forget, OK? So,
- 26:08Speaker 2: we were at a petrol station, and I told Joakim
- 26:11Speaker 2: this story before. We were at a petrol station and
- 26:14Speaker 2: um my dad and I were in the car waiting
- 26:16Speaker 2: for it to be done, and my mom went into
- 26:19Speaker 2: the store, OK, into the, well, to pay and to
- 26:22Speaker 2: get some snacks or groceries or whatever.
- 26:24Speaker 2: And when she came out, there was another similar looking car, uh,
- 26:28Speaker 2: also with a bald guy at another, uh, kiosk, OK?
- 26:33Speaker 2: She walks into that guy's car instead of our car.
- 26:37Speaker 2: And you know what, my dad and I just watched
- 26:38Speaker 2: the whole thing happen.
- 26:42Speaker 2: We were just like, where's your mom going? And I went,
- 26:45Speaker 2: oh man, I think she's going to the other car
- 26:47Speaker 2: with another bald guy. Honestly, your dad had ample time
- 26:51Speaker 2: to press the horn. Oh, I think he wanted to
- 26:53Speaker 2: watch for a while, you know, just watched it go down. Well,
- 26:59Speaker 2: keep your stories coming through and we're gonna get to
- 27:01Speaker 2: calls in just a bit. 669-11987.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Who around you could be a friend, a family member,
- 27:07Speaker 2: a loved one? Who's the blur person in your group?
- 27:10Speaker 2: Let us know and exchange a $100 own day's shopping
- 27:13Speaker 2: experience could be yours. From Marina, who goes, Hey Sonia
- 27:17Speaker 2: and Joakim, good morning. I'm the blur one in my
- 27:20Speaker 2: friend group. Some self-awareness on this Thursday morning. We went
- 27:23Speaker 2: to attend a friend's choir concert once and she said,
- 27:27Speaker 2: ACS Independent, but my brain processed as ACS International. So
- 27:33Speaker 2: I brought my friend group to ACS International, and we
- 27:35Speaker 2: were so confused. Why weren't there a lot of people
- 27:37Speaker 2: and the security guard was very confused as well. We
- 27:41Speaker 2: realized our mistake and we made a mad rush down
- 27:43Speaker 2: and made it in time just for the concert. Are
- 27:45Speaker 2: they close by? So I googled this year. ACS International
- 27:49Speaker 2: is some.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Somewhere around Holland Village, OK, OK, and ACS Independent is
- 27:54Speaker 2: along Dover Road. OK, lah, not so bad. Quite, quite near, near, near, yeah, yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 2: not too bad, but still it's a mad rush if
- 28:01Speaker 2: you know what I mean, for sure. Uh, we've got
- 28:03Speaker 2: Isa on the line right now. What happened? Uh, my friend, uh, Lee,
- 28:07Speaker 2: he's a bit blur, so whenever we have to meet
- 28:10Speaker 2: up at like, um, City Hall.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Sometimes they'll say, oh, we're meeting at Raffles Place, and
- 28:15Speaker 2: then we have to make sure that she's going to
- 28:17Speaker 2: City Hall and not Raffles. Oh, did I say the
- 28:19Speaker 2: wrong word? Yeah, sorry, you said it the wrong way. Hey, but,
- 28:23Speaker 2: but I, you know, I totally understand you. Raffles City
- 28:26Speaker 2: and Raffles Place confusing. It can be very confusing. Even
- 28:30Speaker 2: the person telling the story about the blur, yeah, became
- 28:33Speaker 2: blur herself. Aiyo.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Yeah, wait, so has it ever happened before where your
- 28:38Speaker 2: friend keep showing up at the wrong place? Yeah, we
- 28:41Speaker 2: had like some similar places, similar sounding places, or she'll
- 28:45Speaker 2: be like at one end and we'll be on the
- 28:47Speaker 2: other end even though we agreed to. So it's kind
- 28:49Speaker 2: of expected at this point. So I mean, look, there's
- 28:52Speaker 2: Raffles City, Raffles Place, there's Tanjung Paga.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And Tanjong Katong. Oh, that one is very different. At
- 28:59Speaker 2: least Raffles City and Raffles Space kind of next to
- 29:01Speaker 2: each other in some way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you
- 29:04Speaker 2: so much, Issa, for your call. Thank you. Talking about
- 29:06Speaker 2: the blur people in your life, we say this, of course,
- 29:09Speaker 2: in jest, and you know, we love them, but there
- 29:12Speaker 2: will be some blur friends here and there. Sometimes it's us,
- 29:15Speaker 2: sometimes it's.
- 29:15Speaker 2: You know, could be our family members. Back to messages
- 29:18Speaker 2: right now for some funny stories. So we have a
- 29:20Speaker 2: username TT Sonia on WhatsApp, and I want to verify this.
- 29:24Speaker 2: TT isn't your dad's pseudonym, because the message reads, it
- 29:29Speaker 2: has to be my wife. Maybe she could use a
- 29:32Speaker 2: brand new pair of own days because she has gotten
- 29:34Speaker 2: into a stranger's car.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Right in front of my eyes and my car. Oh
- 29:40Speaker 2: my God. You sure it's not your dad texting us
- 29:42Speaker 2: about your mom?
- 29:44Speaker 2: In fact, I'm surprised they uh that that my mom
- 29:47Speaker 2: hasn't scolded me yet on text. Maybe she's walking. I
- 29:50Speaker 2: better check. I better check. I want to say good
- 29:51Speaker 2: morning to Lee on WhatsApp. Hey guys, it's my friend.
- 29:55Speaker 2: He had his 2B license, found a pizza delivery job.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Halfway through the delivery, he needed to pump petrol.
- 30:01Speaker 2: For his company bike. He called the boss and asked
- 30:03Speaker 2: which petrol to pump. The boss replies, pump the cheapest.
- 30:07Speaker 2: So he went to pump the cheapest he saw. Halfway
- 30:10Speaker 2: through the job, his bike suddenly stalled and was not
- 30:12Speaker 2: able to start. And then up he went to the
- 30:14Speaker 2: workshop and found out that he pumped diesel.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Oh no, I have faith that even Joakim would have
- 30:24Speaker 2: known that it's, it's a rookie mistake sometimes if you're
- 30:27Speaker 2: really like not in the know of petrol and all that. Maybe, well,
- 30:31Speaker 2: you said that this guy just got his license like
- 30:34Speaker 2: not that long ago before he started doing this, right.
- 30:37Speaker 2: OK, lah, give the guy a chance. I'm sure from
- 30:39Speaker 2: now on, he's never gonna do this again. That's for sure.
- 30:41Speaker 2: It's a lesson. It is, it is. Anyway, um, last
- 30:44Speaker 2: few messages coming up in just a bit and then
- 30:46Speaker 2: we have a winner, so please stand by. We've got
- 30:48Speaker 2: time for the last couple of messages that came through
- 30:51Speaker 2: that absolutely made us chuckle. Yeah. Here we go. The
- 30:54Speaker 2: question is, do you have a person, a friend or
- 30:56Speaker 2: loved one around you?
- 30:57Speaker 2: That is just blur. Here we go with Katie's story
- 31:01Speaker 2: on WhatsApp. Hello Sojo, sharing my story here just for laughs.
- 31:05Speaker 2: It's common knowledge. Are you a poor thing? Oh dear,
- 31:07Speaker 2: within my family that I'm the blur one. No. So
- 31:10Speaker 2: I'm never the one who does any sort of bookings
- 31:12Speaker 2: for our travels. Last year during our family trip to Shanghai,
- 31:16Speaker 2: my sister.
- 31:17Speaker 2: carried the planning and I felt bad. So during the trip,
- 31:20Speaker 2: I decided to be the proactive one and booked for
- 31:23Speaker 2: an airport transfer on our last day to return back
- 31:26Speaker 2: to Singapore. Oh no, why do I feel it's gonna
- 31:28Speaker 2: end badly. When the car was approaching the airport, my
- 31:31Speaker 2: dad commented, Eh, is this the right airport? It's not.
- 31:36Speaker 2: We almost missed our flight. Oh my God.
- 31:38Speaker 2: They made it just in time. OK, girl, I think
- 31:41Speaker 2: just leave it to your sister. Honestly, at this point,
- 31:44Speaker 2: you can give them eye power, and just, just, you know,
- 31:47Speaker 2: bring good energy and bring the vibes. Yes, your presence
- 31:50Speaker 2: is enough. It's a different kind of contribution and username
- 31:54Speaker 2: falling Stars. Hello, Sonia and Joakim. I have to say
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm the very blur one. So one day I needed
- 31:59Speaker 2: to do some grocery shopping. I rode my mom's bicycle
- 32:02Speaker 2: so that I don't need to carry.
- 32:04Speaker 2: The many heavy stuff later. Guess what? I walked home
- 32:08Speaker 2: naturally with all the heavy groceries in my hand and
- 32:11Speaker 2: I complained to my mom about how heavy the groceries were.
- 32:15Speaker 2: My mom looked at me and asked, so where's my bicycle?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Oh my God, help me.
- 32:20Speaker 2: So she had to go back and bring the bicycle back,
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm assuming. Has this ever happened to you before, right?
- 32:25Speaker 2: I left my car parked your car and you went
- 32:27Speaker 2: home via Grab or something without knowing. Yes, it has happened. OK, good. So, uh,
- 32:31Speaker 2: what do you mean good? OK, so this was a
- 32:33Speaker 2: while back. I mean, it was a while back and
- 32:37Speaker 2: I had just gotten, yeah, it was a number of
- 32:40Speaker 2: years back.
- 32:41Speaker 2: OK, for some reason, I don't know why I ended
- 32:43Speaker 2: up parking at the, you know, the guest parking lot
- 32:47Speaker 2: in MediaCorp. So we have the, the season parking for
- 32:50Speaker 2: the employees, right? And then there's another car park next
- 32:53Speaker 2: to us, the one near Cafe Melba. Yeah, so I
- 32:55Speaker 2: think for some reason maybe there was some filming that
- 32:57Speaker 2: was nearer that area, so I parked there instead.
- 33:00Speaker 2: After which, Jeremy picked me up to go for dinner.
- 33:02Speaker 2: I don't know why I agreed. I asked him to
- 33:04Speaker 2: pick me up. I don't know why. I kind of forgot, OK.
- 33:06Speaker 2: So we went for dinner at Gilman Barracks. I remember this,
- 33:09Speaker 2: met some friends there. After which, uh, he just drove
- 33:12Speaker 2: us home, lah, right?
- 33:14Speaker 2: And I didn't even, it didn't occur to me until
- 33:16Speaker 2: I showered and everything already, and I was about to sleep.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I jolted up going, Wait, I left my car at
- 33:22Speaker 2: the office. And he just burst out laughing. He goes,
- 33:26Speaker 2: So how? He said, no choice lah. Tomorrow I grab
- 33:28Speaker 2: to work and bring the car back. How long ago
- 33:32Speaker 2: was this? A few years ago? A few years back.
- 33:34Speaker 2: How come 8 days never covered this? I didn't post
- 33:36Speaker 2: about it. They are good.
- 33:39Speaker 2: That's why good. Just had a really good laugh over
- 33:42Speaker 2: the past hour. All your stories coming through about the
- 33:45Speaker 2: blur person in your life.
- 33:49Speaker 2: All inspired by um a spontaneous paddle, paddle game that
- 33:52Speaker 2: I had a couple of days back.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And uh my friend actually gave the wrong peddle court
- 33:59Speaker 2: address to most of us only to realize like wow,
- 34:02Speaker 2: the the the court that was booked did not even
- 34:05Speaker 2: have a similar name and we still wonder how that happened.
- 34:07Speaker 2: And to all the footballers here in Singapore, when you
- 34:10Speaker 2: say the cage, yeah, make sure you specify which cage.
- 34:14Speaker 2: You really have to plenty of cages here for your
- 34:16Speaker 2: 5 a side footballs. That's true. That's true. I think
- 34:18Speaker 2: for today.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Today's winner, Sonia. I want to give it to Issa
- 34:21Speaker 2: who called us earlier, and even she got confused about
- 34:24Speaker 2: a Raffles place in Raffles City. OK, so it's OK, Issa,
- 34:28Speaker 2: you take the O Day vouchers, like, go, go, yes,
- 34:30Speaker 2: take it. Congratulations. Thanks for joining us and telling us
- 34:34Speaker 2: your stories. And you know what, um, this was like
- 34:37Speaker 2: the perfect prize for today's topic because our friends over
- 34:41Speaker 2: at Ow Days, they've got some really great
- 34:43Speaker 2: Great glasses coming your way, eyewear, not just that, they've
- 34:46Speaker 2: got shades as well if you want sunglasses. Yeah, and
- 34:48Speaker 2: um they've actually got such a wide variety of choices
- 34:52Speaker 2: just for you. Again, they have over 40 stores here
- 34:55Speaker 2: in Singapore and for their framing, it's expert pairing. It's
- 35:01Speaker 2: seamless with Oa's premium made in Japan lenses for crystal
- 35:05Speaker 2: clear clarity. And you know what I love about it?
- 35:07Speaker 2: It fits.
- 35:07Speaker 2: The Asian face really well because our nose bridge is,
- 35:10Speaker 2: you know, we're not as blessed in the nose bridge area. So, um,
- 35:14Speaker 2: I think an optimized nose bridge to create clean, minimalist, comfortable,
- 35:19Speaker 2: precise silhouette. So please enjoy your shopping experience there worth $100.
- 35:24Speaker 2: And to Issa, there is an old days over at
- 35:27Speaker 2: Raffles City. OK, Raffles City City, not Raffles
- 35:30Speaker 1: Place, OK.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 35:34Speaker 1: next season
- 35:36Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 35:39Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Coming up within the hour, as you know, this entire week,
- 35:43Speaker 2: our friends from Carousel Autos got you covered with $100
- 35:47Speaker 2: worth of shopping vouchers. And by the way, an emergency
- 35:50Speaker 2: here in Singapore, Sonia. What happened to Komala Villas? Singapore's
- 35:56Speaker 2: number one hit music station.
- 36:00Speaker 2: OK, people, I didn't know this. It shows that I've
- 36:03Speaker 2: not been to Little India in a while, but there's
- 36:05Speaker 2: a crisis lah. Why, why, why? Kumalla Villas is closed. Wait,
- 36:08Speaker 2: so this is this, would this be food news today?
- 36:11Speaker 2: I don't know. OK. Um, 123 food news over this one,
- 36:15Speaker 2: is it news news. Sonny and Joki with sad news. OK, um,
- 36:20Speaker 2: so I didn't know this, but as of January 19th,
- 36:24Speaker 2: they were closed for renovations.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's been two months. The shutters are still down, and
- 36:30Speaker 2: there are no signs of work going on over there.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And Komola Villas, ah, they're like an institution, right? Exactly.
- 36:38Speaker 2: It's not just a restaurant anymore. Hold on, do they
- 36:40Speaker 2: have any social media pages or like a website or
- 36:42Speaker 2: something where they give updates or no? Good, good question.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I don't think so. So according to Google, it's closed,
- 36:48Speaker 2: but I think on Apple Maps it still says open.
- 36:51Speaker 2: So yeah, I think loads of people who love Komala Villas,
- 36:55Speaker 2: and look, that place attracts everyone who's anyone. We've had
- 36:58Speaker 2: world leaders going there to eat. They call it Tose relations.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Are you searching? I'm searching. How is it? Seems like
- 37:06Speaker 2: people have tried to search Komala Villas.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Singapore, but I don't think they have an official. OK,
- 37:14Speaker 2: Komala's restaurants. OK, that's not Villas. That's different, right? That's confusion. OK, OK,
- 37:20Speaker 2: so this one is different. So they don't have, I
- 37:22Speaker 2: don't think they have, yeah, socials, no updates, but it
- 37:26Speaker 2: seems like people have been trying to search as well
- 37:28Speaker 2: because the masala over at Komala Villas and the puri.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Fantastic. This is not helping right now because my stomach
- 37:36Speaker 2: is growling as we speak. So the fact that you're
- 37:38Speaker 2: talking about it, we can't have it right now. I
- 37:41Speaker 2: guess the next option could be.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Ananda Bahavan or New Madras cafe. Is it nearby? Just
- 37:47Speaker 2: down the road. Yes, New Madras is not too bad. Look,
- 37:50Speaker 2: someone has got to know what's happening. Can you go
- 37:52Speaker 2: ask your aunties or your uncles? I mean, you know,
- 37:54Speaker 2: they somehow always have the gossip. Actually, yes, if you
- 37:57Speaker 2: ask an Indian uncle or auntie, they know they will
- 37:59Speaker 2: tell you the whole story that you didn't ask for.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Exactly about to open up phone lines right now. Your
- 38:04Speaker 2: second last chance to walk away with $100.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Dollar carousel Autos shopping voucher. Carousel, carousel, Carousel Autos. OK,
- 38:14Speaker 2: I think stick to your day job. If that girl
- 38:16Speaker 2: can get paid $2 million by Dr. Pepper for producing
- 38:19Speaker 2: a jingle on TikTok, I want to try my luck now. OK,
- 38:22Speaker 2: go ahead, go ahead. You may not get $2 million
- 38:23Speaker 2: maybe $2. Um, give us a call 669-11987.
- 38:29Speaker 2: You're just gonna have to play G math or Delulu.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Three simple statements Joakim's gonna give you, and you tell
- 38:35Speaker 2: us whether it makes sense, which is go math or
- 38:37Speaker 2: no sense at all, which is Delulu. So if you're
- 38:39Speaker 2: paying attention earlier, this quiz very easy for you. We
- 38:44Speaker 2: kind of gave you the pointers that you need to
- 38:46Speaker 2: know already. Yeah, all the info. So phone lines are open. 669-11987.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Call us right now for your shopping vouchers worth 100 bucks.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Good morning, Sonia and Joakim. This is Alvin. I'm
- 39:00Speaker 2: Hello, hello. I, I listen to 987 daily. Thank you
- 39:04Speaker 2: so much. What are you up to on this Thursday, man?
- 39:07Speaker 2: I'm on the way to work. Yeah, I know, right?
- 39:09Speaker 2: I'd rather be at home. I'm sure, I'm sure. What
- 39:11Speaker 2: industry are you in? I'm in the manpower industry. OK, alright. Well, hey,
- 39:16Speaker 2: this could be your chance to walk away with a
- 39:17Speaker 2: $100 shopping voucher thanks to our friends over at Carousel Autos.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Are you ready for the 3 statements?
- 39:23Speaker 2: Yes, let's go. So Alvin, again, if it makes sense,
- 39:27Speaker 2: you say girl math. If it's complete nonsense and untrue,
- 39:30Speaker 2: you say Delulu. OK? OK. Here is your first statement.
- 39:35Speaker 2: If someone rushes me to buy a car, it is
- 39:38Speaker 2: probably a great deal. Is this girl math or Delulu? Lulu.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Delulu is correct.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Your second statement, buying at my own pace helps me
- 39:50Speaker 2: make better decisions. Is this girl math or Dilulu?
- 39:55Speaker 2: It's go man. Of course it is, because Carousel Autos,
- 39:57Speaker 2: they let you browse, compare and decide on your own
- 40:00Speaker 2: terms without pushy sales tactics. And your last one, if
- 40:04Speaker 2: no one is chasing me, I feel more confident about
- 40:08Speaker 2: my choice. Girl math or Delulu? Girl. Girl math is correct.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Well done. There you go. Yeah, congratulations. As easy as that.
- 40:15Speaker 2: That's the advantage of Carousel Auto's direct owner model, calm,
- 40:18Speaker 2: pressure-free buying. We really hope you enjoy your experience there,
- 40:22Speaker 2: especially if you're looking for a vehicle.
- 40:24Speaker 2: This was brought to you by Carousel Autos, Singapore's largest
- 40:27Speaker 2: direct owner marketplace for used cars and motorcycles. OK, so, um,
- 40:32Speaker 2: I haven't watched the trailer just yet, but Joakim has
- 40:36Speaker 2: had rave reviews about it. OK, I'm gonna click on
- 40:39Speaker 2: the trailer YouTube video, OK, and I want to see
- 40:43Speaker 2: how many views it's gotten so far. Are you ready? Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 2: 8.5 million views, or rather 8.6 on Sony.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Pictures and one more from Marvel at 10 million views.
- 40:57Speaker 2: And we're talking about the upcoming Spider-Man brand new day. OK,
- 41:01Speaker 2: so I'm not a Marvel expert, but my sharp eyes,
- 41:04Speaker 2: I've spotted a few things. So Spider-Man, all of a
- 41:08Speaker 2: sudden he has organic web, where it's no longer the
- 41:11Speaker 2: web cartridges, but Peter Parker is evolving. OK. There's also
- 41:16Speaker 2: the Punisher. Jon Bernthal is back. He played the Punisher
- 41:19Speaker 2: on the Netflix series, so maybe now it's Canon.
- 41:22Speaker 2: There is the group known as the Hand, where there's
- 41:25Speaker 2: like ninjas and all that. There's Dr. Banner, uh, what's
- 41:29Speaker 2: his name again? Mark Ruffalo is back. We got the Scorpion.
- 41:33Speaker 2: We have Boomerang and Peter Parker's eyes, they turn black.
- 41:38Speaker 2: What does it mean? How did that happen? Exactly. So
- 41:41Speaker 2: people are also speculating that that could be the fierce,
- 41:43Speaker 2: the first appearance of Jean Grey.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Spider-Man Brand New Day and the worlds are colliding. Zendaya
- 41:51Speaker 2: MJ is wearing the Black Dahlia necklace that Peter Parker
- 41:55Speaker 2: gave her before she forgot who Peter Parker was. Yeah,
- 41:58Speaker 2: there you go. So a lot of questions will be answered,
- 42:00Speaker 2: I'm assuming hopefully or whether more questions be raised. Yes,
- 42:04Speaker 2: very possible. When is the release date scheduled? OK, sometime
- 42:08Speaker 2: in July, July 30th if I'm not wrong. Singapore is worldwide, worldwide. OK. Oh,
- 42:12Speaker 2: that's good.
- 42:13Speaker 2: It be like one of the biggest movie events of
- 42:15Speaker 2: the year, I'm assuming, yeah, and they will, I guess,
- 42:18Speaker 2: make an appearance as a married couple for the first
- 42:21Speaker 2: time for a Spider-Man related film on the red carpet
- 42:23Speaker 2: or maybe even the blue carpet, right? Yeah, yeah, that'd
- 42:26Speaker 2: be really cool. OK, we'll keep you updated for sure.
- 42:28Speaker 2: We are excited. What a show we've had today. We
- 42:30Speaker 2: hope you had fun with us. If you want to
- 42:33Speaker 2: catch up with the best bits, it'll be on me
- 42:34Speaker 2: Listen and Spotify. Our show lasted longer than Central C.
- 42:40Speaker 2: You, you are not wrong. My TikTok FIP is a
- 42:43Speaker 2: lot of people saying it was only 50 minutes long. Yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 2: it was not even an hour, um, but for what
- 42:48Speaker 2: it's worth, he did back to back hits. It was
- 42:51Speaker 2: a nonstop hit enough, you know. So here's hoping that
- 42:53Speaker 2: if you want tickets from us here on 987, you
- 42:56Speaker 2: still had a good time. By the way, in your
- 42:57Speaker 2: Insta stories, yeah, that was Jeremy Sober, right? Yes, love it. Yeah,
- 43:02Speaker 2: he loves. I know. On that note, we'll hand you
- 43:05Speaker 2: over to Nick and we'll catch you tomorrow at 6 a.m.
