- 0:00This is Mullah al Ahmad al Haim Islam, Alayhi Kumar Alayhi raha
- 0:02to run. Sisters.
- 0:03Welcome back to the Aftermarket of podcast.
- 0:05We are now only a few days away from the blessed day of Abbaeen.
- 0:09This is a day where we renew our allegiance to ABBA Abdullah
- 0:12Hussein and of course his beloved family, his companions,
- 0:17but most importantly to none other than the Imam of our time,
- 0:20Imam Sahib al also was Zaman because of course in the day of
- 0:24Abbaeen, we begin to renew our allegiance to him.
- 0:28The message of Imam al Mehdi is one in the same as the message
- 0:31of Imam Hussein Alayhi Salaam. And to be honest, by the
- 0:34sisters, it's an opportunity for us really to reflect on how
- 0:38Mehta we are. We, if we claim to be hosseini,
- 0:40like we've been saying in these last few weeks, are we truly
- 0:43Mehta we? So this is something which I
- 0:45myself think about each other. Baeen is something that I picked
- 0:49up a couple of years ago from one of our blessed scholars who
- 0:52I managed to go to on Arbayeen for the walk.
- 0:56And since then, I've tried to keep that in mind myself.
- 1:00So today, Charlotte, we don't really have one specific topic
- 1:04in mind. We've got a lot of different
- 1:05things which we want to get through inshallah, and we don't
- 1:09have a guest today. We've had an amazing number of
- 1:11guests over the last couple of months at Hamdallah.
- 1:14But now we are back to where we started in the first episode of
- 1:19the Muharram series. And that is with myself and of
- 1:21course none other than the beautiful Saeed Ali.
- 1:25Rabbi Islam Ali Khalid Mashallah, you have nod on your
- 1:40face today. The handsome go call.
- 1:42Yeah. How?
- 1:43Vivia, how are you doing? I'm good.
- 1:45How's it going? I'm the LA can't complain.
- 1:47It's good to be. I think it's good to have a
- 1:49discussion now. Just me and you.
- 1:51Yeah. I feel like I, I really missed
- 1:53this. We've had about four or five, I
- 1:55think 5 weeks. More than that, I'm going to
- 1:57test you. OK?
- 1:58Can you name each episode? Because there will obviously be
- 2:00people who haven't caught up and that's completely fine.
- 2:03But if you can in your memory, try and name the episodes,
- 2:07Chronal actually will take it in turns.
- 2:09OK, so episodes chronologically from the start of the Muharram
- 2:13series. Test your knowledge from the So
- 2:15you say yeah, so you say one episode we talked about XYZ and
- 2:18I'll say one and back. Do you know what I mean?
- 2:21OK. So the first one or it was just
- 2:24me and you, I think we we discussed Yazid's in particular
- 2:29mainly, but I think we called it they haven't understood Karbala
- 2:32or they don't understand Karbala.
- 2:35So I guess I'm right on that. Next, your turn.
- 2:38Yeah, OK, cool. Then we talked about the Quran
- 2:42and the application of the Quran as a code for life in in our
- 2:48day-to-day kind of interactions. And that was with my brother
- 2:54Montata Jafar, who's obviously come from COM, and he blessed
- 2:58us. That was a cool episode.
- 3:00That was an episode definitely to remember, and it makes me
- 3:03remember even further that you made a mistake and you made a
- 3:06huge error. Why?
- 3:07Because just prior to that episode, we were blessed to have
- 3:11said Abdullah Nabib. Was that the week before or
- 3:14after? The week before.
- 3:15OK, so I've already. Got it.
- 3:16Or am I mistaken? I have no idea it was.
- 3:20I was definitely Yazid's episode, Nabib's episode, the
- 3:24Montaz Jafar. Yes, you're right.
- 3:25You're right. Yeah, because Montaz was aired
- 3:27the day after Ashura. Yes, yes.
- 3:29Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we had, said Abdullah.
- 3:31What was that about? We discussed mainly, I think
- 3:34Karbala through the lens of Lady Zainab, Alayhi Salaam.
- 3:38So that was the approach we took.
- 3:39And I really enjoyed that episode, by the way, because I I
- 3:42truly felt like I understood, say, the Zainab's role Alayhi
- 3:46Salaam in Karbala in greater detail because mainly we just
- 3:50know, for example, she was just like, there was only like an
- 3:53emotion. Like normally when we hear from
- 3:55the pulpits and the massage that we that we hear, it's always
- 3:58like a sorrowful conversation between Imam and Hussain and Abu
- 4:02Abbas. But that episode went to greater
- 4:04detail, how it led to Karbala, what she did outside of Karbala
- 4:08and things like this. It was deep.
- 4:09Yeah. Yeah, it was.
- 4:10Really deep, yeah. After that we had Sheikh
- 4:14Mohammed Abbas Banjo, which was a mind blowing episode truly.
- 4:19We talked about wilaya in Karbala, the wilaya of Amir Al
- 4:23Mahmanim found in Karbala. We talked about Ulamal Abrar,
- 4:28this false notion that the Imams were not Mahsoum, that they were
- 4:34just righteous scholars who could make mistake and mistakes.
- 4:37And of course, that's something which is a terrible
- 4:40misconception, which unfortunately is found in
- 4:42certain liberal pockets of our community.
- 4:46We talked about Palestine and the comparisons between
- 4:49Palestine and Karbala. If it's legitimate to make those
- 4:53parallels or not, what lessons can be learned from Karbala,
- 4:57which we apply to injustice as we see today.
- 5:00We also talked about Imam and Mehdi in that podcast.
- 5:03So we talked about the establishment of the Ummah of
- 5:07Imam and Mehdi, or in the words of the Sheikh, the establishment
- 5:11of a new civilization in its entirety, which is the phrase he
- 5:14used, and how we can be a part of that, which I really liked.
- 5:18And the kind of, like we said at the beginning of this episode,
- 5:20the links between Imam Hussain and Imam al Mehdi.
- 5:24Angela Allah Attalla Forager On the following week we had say
- 5:29Mehdi Madarasi and that was a very long episode, but it was
- 5:34very beneficial because we went literally like point after point
- 5:38of the point where we started off with, for example, what was
- 5:41the Torhid of Imam and Hussein Ali Assalam.
- 5:43And this was a question me and you had in the first episode
- 5:46back when we spoke about Yazid is that we want to get to this
- 5:48point is what was the torhid Imam Hussein Ali Salaam was
- 5:51after. So that was very beautifully
- 5:53answered by said Mehdi. And then we spoke about what was
- 5:57expected from us, a Shia like for example, when it comes to
- 6:01the matters of prayers. So that was very heavily
- 6:04emphasized. We also went on to speak about
- 6:08trying to understand who's a righteous scholar and who's
- 6:12someone who's an impostor when it comes to us trying to gain
- 6:16access to our religion from. So that was very a very nice
- 6:19examples telltale signs that he allowed us to understand.
- 6:22And then we also wanted to talk about Urbain and many, many
- 6:25other topics. That was a really.
- 6:26Nice. And after that was with said Ali
- 6:29Imran, who is obviously, As for those who know, a very senior
- 6:33scholar from Toronto and he's a principal in Toronto.
- 6:38And the episode I wasn't on unfortunately, nor the state
- 6:41made the episode. But from what I heard, and
- 6:44obviously I had the full podcast, you guys talked about
- 6:47the Serie of Rasulullah Muhammad, peace be upon him and
- 6:50his family. And understanding what the Serie
- 6:52is, what it means, why it's may be understudied in the Shia
- 6:56school of thought compared to other schools of thought and
- 6:59what lessons we can take from the Serie, how to apply the
- 7:02Serie in our day-to-day lives. Lessons from the life of the
- 7:04Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family.
- 7:07And more than that, when we when we find situations in our lives,
- 7:12and I don't mean just looking at the sealer as a historical
- 7:15textbook, but obviously like a day-to-day life.
- 7:17So you guys talked about conflict resolution, you talked
- 7:21about immigration, things like that, which I found to be the
- 7:24most beneficial in that episode. But how we can learn from us
- 7:27all, Allah and his life, to apply practical lessons into
- 7:31policy making today. That was a wicked yeah.
- 7:35Hamdullah and it was nice to meet him by the way, because I,
- 7:37I told them I normally see your videos in your lectures online
- 7:41so nice to have him here in in person.
- 7:44And then last week we had brother Zaina one and we had
- 7:49brother Nadeem where we spoke about the persecution of the
- 7:53Shias in Pakistan in particular, which is a, which was a very
- 7:57interesting angle for me. Because normally like when I
- 8:00hear the, the targeting and the killing and the genocide and the
- 8:05attacks, the atrocities, the fall on Shia Muslims around the
- 8:09world, it's normally all within the Middle East or it's, for
- 8:12example, all the back in history like the Nawasse Beniomaya.
- 8:17So this was a very different angle and it shows, shows you
- 8:19that it's still alive and it's still happening here today.
- 8:22So that was a very interesting discussion.
- 8:24I and I decided not to interject.
- 8:27I decided not to say a lot of things.
- 8:31I felt like I really held myself.
- 8:32Back at me, yeah, but you. Know I didn't want it to become
- 8:34like something sectarian and I'll be very honest because I
- 8:37felt like any point that I'm going to mention I don't want it
- 8:39to be like, OK, This is why they're killing us or this is
- 8:42the ideology they have because I really wanted to know more about
- 8:45our brothers and sisters of Pakistan and what they're going.
- 8:47Through yeah, yeah. But you know what guys?
- 8:49Everyone who's been following this series, firstly, thank you
- 8:53from us, truly, from the bottom of our hearts.
- 8:56What you'll see is we've tried to raise the level of
- 8:59conversation, I hope in the last few weeks, really bring about
- 9:03like an educational focus to the way we approach Muharram this
- 9:07year. As opposed to being click baity
- 9:10or or controversial or contentious in the way way we do
- 9:14things. Which of course, as we know on
- 9:16social media itself, it gets numbers, you get views, you get
- 9:19engagement with that sort of stuff.
- 9:21But I think that the firstly, the diversity of topics we've
- 9:25had has been incredible. The standard of guest.
- 9:27We've had every single guest who's come on is an expert or a
- 9:31scholar or both. So we've had experts in in, for
- 9:34example, like you said last week, we had Zain Awan and
- 9:38Nadeem Zady, both who are of course experts in in the
- 9:40persecution of the Shia of Pakistan.
- 9:43We had Montazero, of course, who's obviously a junior
- 9:45scholar. He's been a Houser for a year
- 9:47and he's continuing his Houser study Inshallah, 4-5 years from
- 9:49now when he comes back on Aftermath, hopefully before, but
- 9:52I mean, we'll see him, you know, as a senior scholar in that
- 9:54time. And then of course, all that
- 9:56other Adama who are continuing to teach us.
- 9:58But we're trying to raise conversations, raise ourselves.
- 10:03And hopefully, Charlie, you guys will come with us because, you
- 10:06know, this is as much as it is a period of, of grieving and
- 10:10mourning and connection to Allah through the Adala beta and
- 10:13Quran, it is also about development.
- 10:17Can I just say something? Like.
- 10:20Every single time I feel a slight distance or even a big
- 10:27distance from religion, I'm talking about parts of days or
- 10:32even phases. Like I have phases or weeks
- 10:35where I'm on a spiritual low. Every time I think about Imam
- 10:40Hussein, I come back, I'm pulled back, I'm hooked back in, and I
- 10:46feel like Imam Hussein has saved my life on multiple occasions.
- 10:50I really mean that. Like there's been moments of of
- 10:53my life where I am in absolute hopelessness, where the wrong
- 10:58thing happens at the wrong time around the wrong people, for
- 11:02example, and I have nothing, no one to turn to, no one to ask.
- 11:07But the Wasila of Abdullah is so special and he really is Miss
- 11:13Bahid Hoda Wasafina Tuneja. Honestly, honest to God, he is I
- 11:17I in in the last week alone, I've had miracles which have
- 11:21fallen upon me in my most like in the most bizarre ways where I
- 11:27can't get my head around it. And I don't just mean Imam
- 11:29Hussein, but there will see a lot of different members of the
- 11:31other debate. And the reason why I'm saying
- 11:35this is because again and again and again and again every year
- 11:40we make Muharram, we make adebayeen about ourselves.
- 11:43So we say, oh, what can I do? I want to be a better Muslim.
- 11:46I want to pray more. I want to do sinless all of that
- 11:49stuff without as in take the selfish element away from it.
- 11:53Like I'm serving God. My, my goal is to serve a Las
- 11:56panel Tyler and to follow the Surat al Mustaqim and to follow
- 11:59the Thakalain and all that stuff.
- 12:00We know. But if we do take into account
- 12:03the, the personal gain, we we do benefit like we don't need to,
- 12:09right? Allah could tell us that the
- 12:11vicar of the Ahul bait, Mossad and Fawal of the Ahul bait is
- 12:14Wajib, right? We believe it's Wajib right,
- 12:17because the prophet told us this is and the Quran told us like
- 12:20you have to. This is the fawaal of the Ahul
- 12:22bait is wajib on us. So they shouldn't, it shouldn't
- 12:26necessarily be be something that we're gaining, but Allah is so
- 12:30myciful that in every act of wajib, ebada, Salah, so XYZ.
- 12:35But even in the ones that we optionally engage in, we attend
- 12:38the majalis and whatnot. Like how many majalis have you
- 12:40been to in the last few weeks? So many in mosques and at
- 12:43people's homes, Mashallah and online.
- 12:46Sorry. And online.
- 12:46Yeah. And like, all of these majalis
- 12:49are optional liquor. Yeah.
- 12:52And there's so much that we gain from it.
- 12:55So I've just been thinking because I was like, I want to
- 12:57save this, this, this specific point.
- 12:59I want to just say it to the world that I have benefited.
- 13:03And I'm so grateful for it. And I really feel like there are
- 13:06people at home who may feel the same way.
- 13:07And Hamdullah do. You know what I mean?
- 13:09And Hamdullah, no, no, it's nice that you shared that point
- 13:12really, because I think there are.
- 13:14Well, I know myself and I know the entire team and half the
- 13:17mother and everyone listening. So this podcast can maybe say
- 13:20something very similar to that. And it's very true.
- 13:23You know, it's I don't want to speak about myself here, but the
- 13:26people I'm surrounded with always when it comes to anything
- 13:30that has to do with about Abdullah and Hussein Ali in
- 13:32Salaam is like the hearts change.
- 13:36I'm not joking. I mean, you just need to mention
- 13:39for the most simplest thing is, you know, can you take time off
- 13:43from work and do this, take this from here to here.
- 13:48They won't do it, but I tell them this is for Imam Hussein.
- 13:50They'll tell you, you'll find 10 of them in front of you saying
- 13:53let me do it. They're fighting over who's
- 13:54going to come and do this. And that's how special Imam
- 13:57Hussein is. I need truly, truly, I'll tell
- 14:00you something I heard today actually about the, the status
- 14:05of Imam Hussein and the eyes of Allah, the status, the status of
- 14:09Imam Hussein when it comes to the when it comes to his.
- 14:13You turned American for a second.
- 14:14Did I say status? Status.
- 14:17I've been speaking to a good friend from from Florida
- 14:19somewhere. So they say it on the pulpit.
- 14:23He was narrating from Imam Jafar Assad Al Hiss Salaam where he
- 14:29was speaking about the faval and the merits of his ziara, the
- 14:33ziara of Imam and Hussain and he gave 1010 merits when it comes
- 14:37to. But one that really stood out to
- 14:39me was the one that's very, very interesting where Imam Jafar
- 14:42Asada, he said the one who visits my grandfather Imam al
- 14:46Hussain on the moment of his death, you know that Sakharat al
- 14:53Mot, when the Angel of death comes to you and he wants to
- 14:58extract your soul. Imam Jafar Asada says the one
- 15:01who visits my grandfather, Imam Al Hussain visits the grave of
- 15:05my grandfather Imam Hussain. Rasoolallah Muhammad Sallallahu
- 15:09Alayhi Wasallam himself will come to you at the moment of
- 15:12death, Oh my God, and he will comfort you.
- 15:15Ahmed Rasoolallah, the Prophet Muhammad will come to you at the
- 15:19moment of death if you have visited the shrine and the grave
- 15:22of Imam Hussain and he will comfort you and Rasoolallah will
- 15:25speak with the Angel of death. He'll tell Melik Almod, be easy
- 15:29on him, be easy on him. Greater 70 times greater than a
- 15:33parent is merciful towards their children.
- 15:37Look how great Imam Hussein, honestly, honestly.
- 15:40And you know Arbein, the day of Arbein is so close.
- 15:43The sonar, we're only a few days away and there's millions
- 15:47walking towards this magnet, the Shia magnet, which is Imam
- 15:51Hussein. In today's age and in Charlotte,
- 15:54we all have that opportunity to see Rachel Allah at the moment
- 15:57of our death, Inshallah. How great is that?
- 15:59Yeah, well, honestly, I mean, Ziyada, we know.
- 16:01Of course, Ziyada Abbayeen is is one of the five signs of the
- 16:06believer, as we know from mum Hassan Hassan.
- 16:09We repeat it year after year after year.
- 16:11For those who want to listen in to the episode we did last year
- 16:14with Mohammed Siddiq, we talked about the secrets behind Ziyad
- 16:17Al Ababayeen and we talked a lot about Kamala Ziyarat in that
- 16:21episode. That was like amazing, mind
- 16:24blowing conversation. Highly, highly, highly recommend
- 16:27it. One thing people forget is
- 16:29aftermarket podcasts are timeless.
- 16:32You know, I, I really believe that.
- 16:34So for example, someone actually last week said to me, is there
- 16:37something that I can listen to for my preparation for the walk?
- 16:41Someone on my nose going, So I sent them that episode.
- 16:44I said, listen to it, enjoy it, indulge in it.
- 16:46Someone who's doing the walk for the first time.
- 16:49So I think that's that's really important thing.
- 16:51Let me ask you, I'm going to be open and transparent.
- 16:55I think that at least for me on a personal level, my first
- 16:59Autobahn experience was only two years ago in my mid 20s.
- 17:03So for over 20 years, I had never had the experience of
- 17:08visiting ABBA Abdullah in on the day of Autobahn.
- 17:12OK, Prior to that, my, so let's say from 15 to 25, my desire to
- 17:20go for Ziad Arbain was high. I really wanted to every year,
- 17:24every year. But then prior to that, I had no
- 17:29real like understanding of the gravity of, of Ziad Arbain, if
- 17:34that makes sense. So, for example, I remember when
- 17:36I was seven or eight years old, Dave Ashura, you know, it feels
- 17:41like the world is coming down. It's the biggest day of the
- 17:44year. It's the most even at a young
- 17:45age, I remember like what Zyada Ashwara was.
- 17:49The day of Ashwara was like in in our local mosque 20 years
- 17:52ago. I'm sure you're the same.
- 17:54Do you think that there's Zyada of Arubaeen as in going to Iraq
- 17:58and doing the walk and engaging with the people that everything
- 18:02that noise, the, the, the headma, like everything you see
- 18:06around you, the people, the heat, the flags, the, the crowd,
- 18:11all of that contributes towards the gravity of Arbayan.
- 18:14And for example, let's say people hundreds of years ago,
- 18:17this year, hundreds of years ago, do you feel like they would
- 18:20have had the same connection in the Arbayan time?
- 18:23Do you see what I mean? Are we blessed the fact that we
- 18:25now live in a day and age where we can attend Arbayan 20 +
- 18:301,000,000 people can go every year to walk to Amman Hussein,
- 18:33be part of this pilgrimage and in a grand scheme of things, it
- 18:36really strengthens our connection with you a little.
- 18:38Bit I think we definitely take it for granted.
- 18:40I mean, especially in today's day and age and especially now
- 18:43in 2024 when the access to Karbala is so easy, you have
- 18:48Mashallah, many airlines that go, many airports that
- 18:50facilitate this journey towards, towards, well, not Karbala
- 18:54itself, but to the lands of Najaf, to the lands to, to the
- 18:57city of Baghdad, for example. So the access to get, sorry, the
- 19:00access to get to Karbala is very simple.
- 19:03Back in the day, people will travel for weeks and for months
- 19:07on foots, on camel, on horsebacks.
- 19:10Was it something simple? OK, so.
- 19:12And when they used to go, the persecution on the Shia of
- 19:18Aliyah Nabihalab Alihi Salaam was so great that when you would
- 19:22go, there was a risk if you were to go visit Imam Hussein, there
- 19:26was a risk of your hands being amputated.
- 19:29If you want to visit Imam Hussein, there was a risk where
- 19:31your your feet will be amputated beyond there's there's an
- 19:37expectation one has when they go that'll be killed for the love
- 19:40of Imam Hussein, for the Ziara of Imam Hussein Ali is Saddam.
- 19:43So we have it easy compared to 100 years ago, 200 years ago,
- 19:48300 years ago, 400 years ago, one that we have is so easy and
- 19:51we do take it for granted. And I'll be very honest, the the
- 19:58way I see are buying now is that it's more, it's not just about
- 20:02the Sierra itself. It's become more about can I
- 20:06have the experience of what it is to feel love, emotion, pain.
- 20:17Spirituality, so it's great. So it's not just the Ziara
- 20:20itself. We want more and this is this is
- 20:22benefits us. By the way, I'm talking about
- 20:24the walk. Because now when you say Zarate
- 20:27Arbayan, no one just thinks about the grave, no one just
- 20:30thinks about the shrine. No one just thinks about the
- 20:32dolman and minarets. No, they think about the walk.
- 20:34You mention Arbayan, the first thing that happens, the first
- 20:37thing you can imagine, there's millions and millions of people
- 20:39flocking towards the shrine of Imam and Hussein.
- 20:43So it is different from that sense that we get to, we take it
- 20:46for granted because we are welcomed.
- 20:49We're no longer being killed. Yes, if we go back a few years
- 20:52ago, there were the risk of sectarianism, there was a risk
- 20:54of being targeted by ISIS, for example.
- 20:56But Hamdallah, things are much better and much easier now.
- 20:59So we're more welcomed. There's a war field home and
- 21:02home is besides. Hussein's don't.
- 21:05So one thing I want to say is. I don't know if I answered your
- 21:08question correctly, but. No, no, 100% like that.
- 21:11And that's contributed, I think to keeping us in a world where
- 21:15we don't have, let me rephrase, in a world where there are so
- 21:20many distractions, Yes, it keeps us afloat.
- 21:23Yes, it's one of the many benefits of having a lot that we
- 21:26have. Like, I don't know whether we
- 21:27would be as active. Let's be optimistic for a
- 21:32minute. Would we be as active or as well
- 21:36benefited in our knowledge, in our multiculturalistic
- 21:40understanding of the world and Shiism and that the global ummah
- 21:44if we didn't have what we had today?
- 21:45Like Allah blessed us, We're born in this day and age.
- 21:48If I want to know a Hadith that pick up my phone, I can think of
- 21:50five apps on my phone already where I can find a hadith where
- 21:53I know if I'm going to know the tafsir of an eye, a Shia tafsir,
- 21:56I can pick up my phone and find the app Quran Hadi, which is the
- 22:01one I use amazing Shia tafsir, amazing at your fingertips.
- 22:05You know what I mean? You have YouTube videos, you
- 22:07have lot of me art, you have lectures upon lectures.
- 22:10One thing I'll say just very quickly for the for the viewers
- 22:13at home, if you are not going for Ziyarat Arbaeen, OK.
- 22:19If you are not going for Ziyarat Arbaeen, it's OK, it's OK.
- 22:25Imam Hassan Askari Al Islam said that one of the signs of
- 22:28believers is to participate in and the do the zyada of Imam
- 22:32Hussein on the day of Arbaeen. Why can you not do the zyada of
- 22:36Imam Hussein on the day of Arbaeen somewhere else?
- 22:40Imam Hussein will still be given your zyada, your Salam, from
- 22:44anywhere in the world, and you have a specific part to play
- 22:48wherever you are in the world. You can send your Salaam, your
- 22:51salutations upon the shohada of Karbala and the asiran of Sham.
- 22:55And this is something that can be benefited from for us
- 22:58wherever we are in the world. And if this is not your year,
- 23:01then inshallah there will be a time where you are invited.
- 23:04It doesn't mean that you're not chosen or you're not loved and
- 23:08you're not wanted. No, I don't believe some.
- 23:10People may not even have the financial means.
- 23:13Financial means things happened. You know, I spoke to a friend a
- 23:15couple of weeks ago, May Allah bless him.
- 23:17I know he's probably listening as well.
- 23:19One of one of our close friends, one of the the lovers of the
- 23:23podcast and we love him as well. He said to me, someone said that
- 23:28you're not invited because you don't know you're imam.
- 23:31This. Listen to this.
- 23:32Yeah, this blew my mind. And I hope the guy who said that
- 23:35hears this because I want to send a message.
- 23:36Absolute nonsense. Gunshots.
- 23:38This is a brother who's been a Shia for only a few years.
- 23:41And unfortunately, and he lives in a far away part of the world,
- 23:45so it's hard for him to access logistically.
- 23:47Karbala compared to us here in London, it's a bit easier for
- 23:50us, You know, for him he has to pay thousands and thousands of
- 23:53pounds or dollars. He has to take at least two or
- 23:56three flights to get to Karbala. Someone told him you're not
- 24:00going to Arbayan. Why?
- 24:02Because you don't know the sermons of Imam Hussein by heart
- 24:05so much. Yeah, honestly, he says you
- 24:06don't know what Imams favorite colours are.
- 24:08You don't know three things that make the Imam smile.
- 24:11When he told me this is Ahmed. Is this true?
- 24:13I said of course not Shinohai like this is absolute madness.
- 24:17Like who? Who would believe this?
- 24:19So I, I, I, I told him at least this is my perspective.
- 24:22I said to him that look, you are a lover of the Ahmed Bait
- 24:25whether you're there or not, it's OK, you still remain in
- 24:27lover of the Ahmed Bait and maybe alas, Abhanawatiah needs
- 24:31your presence in another land. Maybe there's a purpose for you
- 24:36to be there. Maybe you will say something to
- 24:37someone in the area you are at the time you are because someone
- 24:41will benefit from your presence in that land.
- 24:43Do you know what I mean? So I just wanted to say that
- 24:45because there are a lot of people who who feel very heavy
- 24:49in the heart that maybe I'm not wanted, maybe I'm not worthy or
- 24:52chosen. In fact, someone told me as well
- 24:54two days ago, I'm going for the walk.
- 24:56I'm not worthy of it. I said, what do you mean you're
- 24:58not worthy? You've been called, that means
- 25:00you're worthy. Why are you asking questions?
- 25:02Don't, don't do anything. Just thank Allah, thank the Imam
- 25:05and go to your master. You mentioned this point of not
- 25:09being worthy. Let me just go back to that
- 25:11brother first. I would say if he doesn't have
- 25:13the opportunity, inshallah we do pray that he does.
- 25:15Of course, allow the. Opportunity to go on the ziara
- 25:17towards Imam and Paseena Alayhi Salaam.
- 25:19But he can allow someone to go on his behalf and he'll he'll
- 25:23have. To tell you something, what he
- 25:25told me he said the following day with this random guy.
- 25:28I don't want to say is random guy said this brother Zariva.
- 25:31Yes, like I said this random guy said yeah, the true Shia.
- 25:34They're not telling you the truth.
- 25:36You don't, but you don't deserve to go because you don't know
- 25:38your Imam complete nonsense. The following day that he was
- 25:41told this, he said I got a message, ran a message from one
- 25:44of my followers who was in Karbala.
- 25:46They said that they took 20 pictures in different areas and
- 25:49said I took these for you, I did Ziara on your behalf and I
- 25:52mentioned your name in the shrine because I didn't ask for
- 25:55it. Nothing.
- 25:55He was there, I was bubbling. He's done his Ziara, You've done
- 25:58your Ziara, I've done that. You know, he's done his niyaba
- 26:01Ziara. He got it done for him.
- 26:02He didn't request it, but someone thought of him and did
- 26:05this Ziara on their behalf. So.
- 26:07That's amazing. Yeah.
- 26:07Yeah. Let me just come back to this
- 26:09point where some, some do say, am I worthy to go?
- 26:12You know, there's probably, I don't know, you're probably
- 26:14committing many sins or you, you don't really have that
- 26:17relationship with Imam Hussein as you imagine it to be.
- 26:21But the fact you're going there, I can tell you first hand I know
- 26:23people who from different walks of life, you would never imagine
- 26:27them ever to go to visit the shrines of the Elle Beit
- 26:31Aliensinaba. They go, they come back.
- 26:33They're better than me. They they develop a relationship
- 26:37and they establish a connection with the elbait ultimately to a
- 26:40last upon of its Allah from that Ziara.
- 26:43Voila, their life changes and you just watch it and it
- 26:46flourishes and it blossoms just from Ziara itself.
- 26:49That one intention. You say, you know, I'm going to
- 26:50go. Let me just go on shallah, make
- 26:52that near. You never know, you go.
- 26:54Well, that's life changing. Yeah, Yeah.
- 26:55And if it's not life changing forever, you would always
- 26:58remember What? Oh, do you remember?
- 27:02What if it's not life changing? If it's not life changing,
- 27:05eventually will change you because I I, I know people like
- 27:07who've been like to Ziara and they come back.
- 27:10Nothing's different about them. But 3-4 years later like the
- 27:13fact I want Imam Hussain. Yeah, you're right.
- 27:16The fact I want Imam Hussain, you know what, I'm going to
- 27:19change my life like it may not happen.
- 27:21I'm talking about the change. You may not be instant, but they
- 27:24change. It does affect.
- 27:25You in a very positive way. You cannot be surrounded by the
- 27:30by the motahila. Is that correct?
- 27:34Like the the? I don't know.
- 27:35The pure were you trying to see? Like by the purified ones, you
- 27:39can't be surrounded by those who are purified and not be worthy
- 27:42of being in their presence. I mean that I'm saying you can't
- 27:45be, you can't go to the place of, of, of the ones who are
- 27:48Bahar. Yeah.
- 27:50You're saying it right. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:51And, and not be of, of, you know, purification yourself like
- 27:54you. You have to have an element of
- 27:56purity to your soul to be invited to these lands.
- 27:59I truly believe that. You know, so you know, you know,
- 28:01I'm going to mention something and we may go a little bit off
- 28:03topic there, there, there was a time.
- 28:07So as I don't know if this brother listens to this podcast
- 28:11or this episode in itself, he has never been to Iraq and he
- 28:15went two years ago. He doesn't really have any
- 28:19connection with Imam and Hussain.
- 28:21He only has the connection of going to a medulis, for example,
- 28:25or helping out at times in serving food or serving, helping
- 28:30the centre facilitate for the measures to take place.
- 28:34The brothers never prayed in his life.
- 28:37The brothers never fasted properly.
- 28:42But he had a lot of this question with himself.
- 28:45You know, am I worthy? Like who am I to go to Iraq?
- 28:48That when he went to Iraq, he realized it's not that I'm just
- 28:52not praying. I don't know how to pray, bro.
- 28:56Yeah. So that became life changing for
- 28:58him, that eventually when he went on the siara, he learned
- 29:01how to do Salah. He didn't even the worst thing
- 29:04that really hurt me is that, you know, he didn't even know how to
- 29:08do the wage of Ozols, for example.
- 29:11So the point the brother was saying, and he I'm not going to
- 29:14say he was impure his whole life, but spiritually he wasn't
- 29:18for her. Do you understand?
- 29:20So this really effects you And the conversation went to this is
- 29:22that maybe you had this sort of lifestyle because you whenever
- 29:26you whenever like spiritually cleanse in some, for example,
- 29:29whether it's woo or whether it's Janaba also, for example, these
- 29:35things affect an individual plays on your soul.
- 29:39So all of this, of course you're going to feel like, am I not
- 29:42worthy? No, bro, the door of Rahma of
- 29:44the last planet Al is always open.
- 29:46And Imam Hussein, we say he's the ark of salvation.
- 29:48Yeah, yeah, knock on the door of Hussein and.
- 29:51The the dust of Karbala in itself is, is Shafar and it's
- 29:55pure and it's nature as well. So yeah, listen, OK, before we
- 29:59wrap up, I want to ask you one of different things I'm going to
- 30:03ask you like your favorite this, your favorite that, your
- 30:05favorite this, your favorite that.
- 30:06OK, so one lecture which you've heard since the first of
- 30:10Muharram until now, which stuck with you, or which you
- 30:13remembered. Who was it by and what was it
- 30:15about? One lecture that stuck with me.
- 30:18The issue is I've heard about maybe 100 lectures.
- 30:20I know. Oh my God, this is very
- 30:22difficult. Ahmed, go on.
- 30:23I've never thought it's very difficult.
- 30:25Can you come back to me? OK, fine.
- 30:26I'll say it and then you come For me.
- 30:29It was Sheikh Mohammed Abbas Panju, who of course was on the
- 30:32podcast. As we said a few a few weeks
- 30:34ago, he had an unbelievable series at the Imam Hussein
- 30:40Foundation in Watford in the UK and it was hosted by the Bandali
- 30:44family, who are like family to me, very close brothers and
- 30:47Unmot Minin. He, I can think of like four or
- 30:51five lectures he did which were incredible.
- 30:54He did a lecture on Hulu, he did a lecture on understanding
- 30:59Willaya, He did a lecture on the origins of Abufalan Abbas Salah
- 31:02Salaam. The one lecture which stood out
- 31:04to me the most was how he connected sort of Hammond with
- 31:09the Willaya Miramot Minin and then how he connected this with
- 31:13Imam Hussein. And it's similar to a point that
- 31:15Montazur mentioned in his podcast.
- 31:17He says we always look for that little bit in the Quran and we
- 31:19don't look for the Quran in the other bit.
- 31:21For example, in Sutton Hamd, we say Surat al adeen and Hamda
- 31:26Alayhi. So that and Hamda, that point,
- 31:30he says it's the same as, you know, Aliam Akmel to the eye of
- 31:34Qadir who have completed your religion and the nitama which is
- 31:37mentioned in the. Ayah.
- 31:40Yeah, the nitama there, he says it's the same nitama and Amtar
- 31:44Ali basically. So that that lecture was like
- 31:49amazing. So I realized that there are so
- 31:51many ways where we can find the ayah in the Quran and the Quran
- 31:54in the ayahu debate. And for me that was probably a
- 31:57stand out lecture. Now it's your turn.
- 31:59It's my turn. OK, so I, I've listened to many,
- 32:02many people, but I I would say this Muharram, I listened to the
- 32:08entire sunlights from night one all the way to the day of
- 32:13Ashura. My doctor said Ammar and I
- 32:15really enjoyed his series because it allowed me to
- 32:17understand, I think more about my identity as a Shia in terms
- 32:22of, you know, how did we originate?
- 32:25What makes us different? What did we go through Yani?
- 32:28All of this was something unique from a different lens.
- 32:30Yeah, we may hear it from other lectures throughout the year and
- 32:33from different people, but I really felt like he put enough
- 32:36effort into the work he delivered over those ten nights
- 32:39where I was able to be like, you know what?
- 32:41I'll handle love for being Shia. So.
- 32:43So that feeling and that connection that I I felt.
- 32:47Strengthened your Iman not. Just strengthened my Imam.
- 32:50I would say strengthened my my belief.
- 32:52And you know what, I don't mind if I have to die for Imam by
- 32:55saying if they want to kill me because I love emila MO minion
- 32:58I'm down for. It so be it so be it is what it.
- 33:01Is and that's why I felt and I still, I still have that feeling
- 33:03today, yeah. Yeah, OK, cool.
- 33:06Your favorite Latomia? This year it.
- 33:12Doesn't have to be this year, but something that you've heard
- 33:14like the one in my mind is not read from this year, but
- 33:16something that you've maybe heard a lot this year.
- 33:19Something I've heard a lot this year.
- 33:22We have so many things we do. What Ali Father done on the
- 33:25podcast with which is what behind the number, What did you
- 33:29do Where you name your top five favorite reciters?
- 33:33Top five what? Top five reciters, Top five
- 33:36favorite. Reciters.
- 33:39My top five, yeah, yeah, OK, well, say Hassan Karbala is #1.
- 33:45OK. For those that don't know who he
- 33:48is. Why, why why why is it hasn't
- 33:51Karbala in #1? Firstly, I think because he's
- 33:54very unique in the way that he does his recitations.
- 33:57He's like a old school Karbala. He's a classic old school that
- 34:01you are guaranteed to cry from the moment he goes up the pulpit
- 34:04till when he comes down and he you just connect with him.
- 34:07He's like a unique vibe, honestly, Like when he goes up
- 34:10the member, you connect straight away from the beginning till the
- 34:14very end and you feel the mostly, but you feel the
- 34:16tragedy. Say it quick fire, quick fire.
- 34:18OK, so how's the Karbalai one? Number two, of course, is Bassem
- 34:22Karbalai because he never fails to deliver what he does on the
- 34:28pulpit #3 one that's very difficult.
- 34:31This is, this is very, very tough.
- 34:33Very, very tough. But I think my, my raw idea have
- 34:35changed over the years. I would say Mullah Janami, of
- 34:38course, Bayati at times. But the problem with Bayati is
- 34:43that I'll be very honest. If there is no like it's going
- 34:47to sound a bit mess, but I'm not.
- 34:49I don't use the word music, but if there is no background
- 34:54instrumental in his Latmi yacht, I can't hear him.
- 34:58I feel like I'm not. Listening to me and so you
- 35:00prefer. So I'm trying to see where where
- 35:03what I prefer. But then my fourth guy is an
- 35:07Iranian reciter that I don't know the name of.
- 35:09I just have the lot of me out playing in the background.
- 35:11To find out the name. That's because of my wife and #5
- 35:17I don't know what less difficult, what The Wall is
- 35:20difficult because they're all good, man.
- 35:23They're all good. And they all have their own, I
- 35:24think, style, own style and their own vibe.
- 35:27So for me it's different or it's difficult because obviously I
- 35:30listen to different recitis, different recitis, different
- 35:33languages. So if I'm thinking about Arabic,
- 35:36for me in order when the basin #100%.
- 35:40No no, do a generic so even like.
- 35:42I've got a couple different ones.
- 35:47Mohammed tsunami #2 well, Ali Muhammad #3, this is Arabic Abu
- 35:55Khayeb. I love Abu Khayeb.
- 35:57The Bahraini guy, sorry, is he Bahraini?
- 35:59Abuhayeb. Abu Khayeb, Yeah.
- 36:01The one that was the Yeah. Yeah, yeah, OK, OK.
- 36:03Do you like him? I, I like his hossats.
- 36:06So I, I it's not that I don't like his recitation.
- 36:09Yeah, these are like hossats. So yeah, yeah, he's he's
- 36:12amazing. Probably Muhammad Bhujbala.
- 36:18OK. I think he's like sick.
- 36:21I'd say that's probably my top five Arabic, obviously.
- 36:24Then there's Urdu. Mir Hassamir is my all time go.
- 36:27He's up there with Mullah Basim. That's my favorite ever reciter
- 36:31in English. I love Mullah Ammar Nashid.
- 36:33Well, Ali Fardan said Ali rather we these are honestly, they're
- 36:38the best. They're the best and like in
- 36:40English, my Brother Ali Fardan, he every year I listen to one
- 36:47specific track you released a few years ago is called I
- 36:50remember. No, it's called Remember her
- 36:53about, say, the Omel Benin. Remember.
- 36:56Her. I absolutely love it.
- 36:58I love it. I can't hear it.
- 36:59Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I cannot hear it without crying,
- 37:02crying with my eyes out. And I try and do like something
- 37:06small either with my with the ladies of my family or as a
- 37:10men's thing in all of Bibi Omel Benin in my house.
- 37:13And every time I hear that track, it destroys me.
- 37:16Well, Amar National, obviously, he's, he's probably one of the
- 37:19goats in English. And for those who don't know
- 37:23what a goat is, Saint Ali. Greatest of all time.
- 37:26Yeah, I got that right, Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:29I land on the podcast with Ali Hamadi.
- 37:32Obviously, we're talking about footballers.
- 37:34Yeah, yeah, man. OK, last, last question, Your
- 37:38favorite moment like a stand out when you close your eyes and you
- 37:44picture the 1st 10 nights or maybe something since the 1st 10
- 37:47nights, but since this year Muharram 2024 began, think of a
- 37:53moment which stands out to your way.
- 37:55You know, this time next year, when you think about the
- 37:57previous year, it's something that you can visualize.
- 38:01So for me, I think, look, I would, I would always say it's
- 38:09the night where we remember Ali Lazar.
- 38:11And that's because we're able to visualise it, especially like in
- 38:17the Iraqi senses, is that as the Mossiba of, you know, the six
- 38:22month old infant is being recited on the pulpit.
- 38:25Is that we sort of also bring an infants to the pulpits that's
- 38:31supposed to resemble the six month old of Imam Hussein Ali
- 38:35has Salaam. So that really shatters the
- 38:37heart and it breaks it breaks the heart.
- 38:39And I can still remember it till today.
- 38:42And it happens every year. So that's the year for me that
- 38:44really I connect with when it comes to, you know, what do I
- 38:47remember from from Muharram? It's moments like this is that
- 38:52we remember the tragedy, the greatness of the tragedy and and
- 38:56it goes, it goes on, of course, without saying any.
- 38:58We have, for example, Qasim night.
- 39:00We also have similar traditions in our community, Abbas Night
- 39:06and other cultures they may have like taboos, islands and things
- 39:08like this. So these are the things that
- 39:10always stand out to me that I will never forget because it
- 39:12allows me to have that connection with Karbala.
- 39:16It's like the door opens and I'm there.
- 39:18I literally feel like I'm there and that's so beautiful to have
- 39:21and live. It's a very unique feeling.
- 39:22Yeah, yeah, yeah. What about you?
- 39:27One moment that I visualize or connect with, it's difficult
- 39:32because of course there's there's things that happen
- 39:35outside of the mosque. So for example, with your
- 39:37family, in the homes of your family, when you sit with
- 39:41friends and brothers like yourselves and obviously all of
- 39:44the guests that we've had and with the like the discussions
- 39:47we've had outside of the podcast.
- 39:49But in terms of the majlis, probably this year I went to
- 39:53four or five majlis in terms of different centres, but probably
- 39:56a ACABAR Foundation which I mentioned every year, always
- 39:59amazing. Every year I listen to the
- 40:03Maktal with Al Akbar Foundation and after the Maktal they play
- 40:09the Maktal by ullabasam Karbalai which is the only time I listen
- 40:14to it around the whole year and and it just.
- 40:18It's a killer. Finishes me.
- 40:19I've never heard something like a a tune which encapsulates an
- 40:24emotion so well as well as that does.
- 40:26Do you know what I mean? Yeah, it's literally called the
- 40:28maktal. If someone's called the Marel,
- 40:29it's literally called the Maktal.
- 40:30Just it's, it's pure grief. Like there's, there's a feeling
- 40:33that I had on Ashura day and I'm sure we all had and continue to
- 40:37have every year, but it's like hopelessness that I don't know
- 40:42what to do now. Like a like, I, like I cried so
- 40:47much on the day of Ashura that I didn't want to stand up and
- 40:50then, you know, go and drink water and, you know, continue
- 40:54with my day. And you know what I mean?
- 40:56Like you just don't want to, you want to sit there and you want
- 40:58to grieve and you want to be left in peace alone to grieve.
- 41:02So for me, I think that the day of Ashwadar has to be something
- 41:07which is the heaviest day or the most monumental day.
- 41:10Like every year for me. And since Al Abdullah becoming a
- 41:14dad, I've done arshoda at home for the last three years, three
- 41:20years. And prior to that I'd always
- 41:22obviously been to a centre before COVID and everything my
- 41:25whole life. But now to be honest bro, I
- 41:27prefer that. And my friends, when I say that,
- 41:29I mean I told one of my friends a couple of weeks ago, I said I
- 41:32prefer to do arshoda at home. Now.
- 41:34He said to me, I can't even remember which friend it was to
- 41:36be honest with you bro. But I remember my brother said
- 41:39to me, he said, I don't know how you have the courage to do that.
- 41:44He says I rely on the atmosphere of people crying to get me in a
- 41:48place where I can cry. So I told him, at least in my
- 41:52opinion, like being alone and getting yourself to that stage
- 41:57where you can grieve unapologetically and be yourself
- 42:01and just cry with no one except say the Fatima Zahra in your, in
- 42:06your house, Inshallah or wherever you are.
- 42:08That is when you know that you're, you're in the right
- 42:12place because you can take yourself there.
- 42:13You don't need to rely on the emotion or the atmosphere or the
- 42:18sound or the crowd or the heat or do you know what I mean?
- 42:23The symbol to, to get you there. So that transformation that,
- 42:28that, that change from being someone who I've, I've across my
- 42:31life been very reliant on that to hopefully Inshallah have
- 42:34found a place which makes me less reliant on that, where I
- 42:38can be driving my car and think about something and it makes,
- 42:41you know, makes one cry or be listening to something which
- 42:45kind of triggers your heart and bang, you've got tears.
- 42:48Like that is a beautiful emotion which I pray Inshallah never
- 42:52leaves us, but it's at its peak during these days.
- 42:55Palala is very unique to that little bit.
- 42:57Yeah, this is the sort of thing. Nothing.
- 42:59Nothing. Can get you and this emotion
- 43:01that the connection that we have.
- 43:02I think as human beings that from the moment I think we
- 43:07understand the tragedies of the elevator until the very final
- 43:11moments of our life, we will cry.
- 43:13We will honestly like you can't eat like so I don't want to say
- 43:17this, but for example, you can lose a parent, you can lose a
- 43:20grandma or an auntie or you know an uncle.
- 43:24You will cry. Perhaps remember them yearly
- 43:2745678 ten years, but then beyond that, you won't cry, but you can
- 43:32cry from the age of I don't know, 12 until the age of 19.
- 43:36Charlotte people have long lives.
- 43:38You will continue to cry for their headed baits.
- 43:40And and these tears, like a lot of sadly, some sometimes people
- 43:44come and attack it like, what are you guys doing crying every
- 43:47year, things like this year. But they don't understand the
- 43:50power of what these tears do. And there's these sort of tears
- 43:54that don't just shape our community and shape our
- 43:56spirituality and shape our connection with the Ehlebetani
- 44:00Salaam, Rather, it also benefits us.
- 44:02Trust me, you can be the most angriest person.
- 44:05You go to the most of Imam Hassan, you share the tear,
- 44:08you'll be as soft as the teddy bear.
- 44:10I'm very joking. And that, that, that that's how
- 44:12much Imam Hassan can soften the heart of any individual.
- 44:16And these tears that people mock at times, you know, we have
- 44:19narrations where they say someone who sheds a single tin
- 44:23the size as small as a wing of a mosquito, a loss of Hanoi Tano
- 44:28will erase your sins. Look how great that is.
- 44:31And you know, now we're approaching inshallah the the
- 44:33Zyarov are behind the day of the 40th of Mom Hassane on his
- 44:38Salaam as to remember that inshallah, those who are blessed
- 44:42with the journey, inshallah mean you have the opportunity to walk
- 44:44there because we are recording this a bit early on.
- 44:48And if we have the opportunity, inshallah, we do all together.
- 44:51And as we're walking, you know, there was that there's there's
- 44:54this narration that says Allah Subhanahu Attallah, we'll send
- 44:58down, I believe it was 4000 angels that will walk with you
- 45:03all the way until the grave. And then when you enter the
- 45:05grave, they will do is the far for you and they will go back
- 45:08with you until you reach home. And, and during the whole
- 45:12process they're doing is the far for you and they're praying for
- 45:15you and they're wishing the best for you.
- 45:17But the most beautiful thing that I read when it came to this
- 45:19is that Imam Hussein Ali Salaam is that his soul, the soul of
- 45:25ABBA Abdullah is by the arch of Allah and he sees his zuwar.
- 45:32He can see them alongside who his mother Fatima Zara.
- 45:36And imagine when we go to Karbala, not only do we have the
- 45:40blessings of angels, of God, doing is the far for us.
- 45:44Who are we? Well, we just commit sins left,
- 45:46right and centre. They're doing is the far for us.
- 45:48And have Imam and Hussein to look down on us.
- 45:50And Allah, Subhana was Allah to write us down as from the zulwar
- 45:54of ABBA Abdullah. We take everything for granted.
- 45:57We are stupid if we do. Honestly, we haven't understood.
- 46:01We haven't understood that. Inshallah.
- 46:02That's how great. Like you said, we're recording
- 46:06this a few days in advance, but inshallah things work out and we
- 46:09get the opportunity to go. It would be amazing.
- 46:12But of course, as we said earlier, if not this year, then
- 46:14inshallah another time when the when Allah permits and when the
- 46:18Imam has space for us, I say Inshallah, we will be there
- 46:21Inshallah, whether it's this year or next or another year,
- 46:23Inshallah. And for those who are going,
- 46:25don't forget to remember us in your DAR.
- 46:27I mean that. And for those who are not, we
- 46:29ask you as well to keep us in DAR.
- 46:31The podcast, the success of the podcast, the success of those
- 46:34who support the podcast as well in in front of the camera,
- 46:37behind the camera as well, because there are a lot of
- 46:39people who work with us to make it happen.
- 46:42All our guests, all our, our, our team, Inshallah as well.
- 46:48Yeah, these are of course, as we said, like very, very holy days,
- 46:51very special days and days building up to Adebayeen.
- 46:55We should commemorate the tragedy of Mama Hussein and
- 46:58relive that and remember what happened in the weeks prior to
- 47:02the day of Adebayeen as well. Every tragedy that happened
- 47:05after the day of Ashura, you know, the, the, the, the
- 47:08tragedies that the family of Imam Hussein went through in
- 47:12Kufa and Sham and the return to Karbala and everything that
- 47:15happened in these days really spark that flame in our hearts.
- 47:21And we have to remember that because we've been on a journey
- 47:24now since Ashura and we're now nearly at the finish line.
- 47:28Are we, are we worthy of getting to that finish line?
- 47:32Are we in the place that we want to be when we reached that
- 47:35finish line, the day of Arbayeen, when on the day of
- 47:38Arshad Hapil feels like yesterday, But when we had that
- 47:41day, we knew that Arbayeen was fast approaching.
- 47:44I remember telling myself said, like I remember thinking, OK,
- 47:48between now and Arbayeen, I want to study this, this topic.
- 47:52I want to, I want to grow this like I had these goals in my
- 47:55mind. Have I done that or not?
- 47:57Like we're fast approaching and inshallah we have a couple of
- 47:59days before we reach that blessed day, inshallah.
- 48:02So keep working on yourselves brothers and sisters, keep
- 48:04working for those around you, keep serving and inshallah we
- 48:08will be worthy to be called the lovers of Abdullah Hussain
- 48:12Sallallahu. Sorry, you were talking and I
- 48:16was just thinking, you know, Mama Hussein I Salaam, his final
- 48:22law, he was Kharib, you know, he was alone on the plains of
- 48:26Karbala. You know, Sakbar Azhar, his
- 48:30companions and he knew what would happen to his women and
- 48:34his children once he goes. And you know when he said that
- 48:37call Hanman Nassaran like is there anyone to come aid or
- 48:40sustain or to come protect the woman of Rasul Allah, Allah,
- 48:44Allah look today it's crazy. Allah look today how much like I
- 48:50don't know why that feeling of, you know, just looking and
- 48:53trying to imagine there was a day where the son of Fatima, the
- 48:56Zahra Al Assalam said, you know, come to our aid and no one came.
- 49:00Ahmed, today's Subhanallah millions.
- 49:03This is what hits me the most, Hits me the most.
- 49:07You know, you see these, these images of Imam Hussein alone.
- 49:11He's standing alone with a sword like these.
- 49:13Sometimes you see these images. Brings her to life.
- 49:15And the army's in front of him and he's by himself.
- 49:19And that just that sight in, in your mind of the red sky, the
- 49:24sun, these, these dogs and these pigs surrounding him and this
- 49:28holy man, this man of God there by himself and the enemies of
- 49:34God are tugging his beard with, with blades in their hand, like
- 49:38these are the enemies of Allah. And we pray to be disassociated
- 49:41from them, not Allah, Ali, all of them.
- 49:44They're all inshallah receiving nothing but like divine
- 49:48punishment. And that's all we can pray
- 49:49inshallah. We have no association with
- 49:51them, with their filth and their personalities and their, all
- 49:54their, their characteristics and their sin ultimately, because
- 49:57there was sin, sin there, the greed, the lying, the lack of
- 50:01consideration, the lack of humanity.
- 50:03You know, these are all like very, you know, sorry, I know
- 50:07we're trying to wrap up, but just something that kind of hit
- 50:09me two days ago. I was speaking to my dad and I
- 50:13told him I was like, civilization has changed
- 50:17obviously throughout the course of history.
- 50:18Now we have roads and infrastructure, electronics and
- 50:21whatnot, but humanity has not changed.
- 50:24Like you look at the earliest stories of the prophet Ibrahim
- 50:28Hood, Saleh, Idris, like all of the early prophets and the
- 50:32stories that involved the early prophets until today, a lot of
- 50:35the stories are the same. Anger, greed, all sorts of
- 50:39things, you know. History.
- 50:42Repeats this history. Repeats this.
- 50:44You have family units and authority, you know, leadership
- 50:47structures. You have wealth.
- 50:49You have poverty and richness. You know all of these kind of
- 50:52dynamics that humans engaged in 10s of thousands of years ago
- 50:56remain today. And that just shows that Allah's
- 50:58wisdom and creating us is that you yourself as a as a race
- 51:04remain. You do not change your innate
- 51:07desires, your your wishes, your wills, all of these things.
- 51:11You can have 8 billion people onwards over the course of
- 51:14history, 1520 billion people who have ever existed, whatever,
- 51:17maybe more. The point being is humans don't
- 51:20change. What's around us might change,
- 51:22but really your, your, your soul and your roar and your nerves.
- 51:28That is a battle with ourselves, you know, so I don't know, I'm
- 51:33waffling a lot. My point being is that, you
- 51:35know, there's, there's a lot of work that we need to do on
- 51:37ourselves. There is, you know, we face the
- 51:39same decides as our forefathers, the same sins, the same issues,
- 51:43the same communities. You know, you have sinners, you
- 51:46have oppressors, all of these kind of people around you,
- 51:49people before have had as well. So what man, who cares?
- 51:51Just do your thing. Allah's all knowing, Allah's all
- 51:54merciful and we have like you said earlier, we have access to
- 51:59to what we need to to get to a better place and what better
- 52:02time to do that then now. Just just I think finally there
- 52:04from me that point we just mentioned, for example, Wilson
- 52:06is and I and I and I think that if we can change our mindset and
- 52:13reprogram ourselves into thinking yes, of course, Wilson
- 52:18is when I'm also mean. We're not infallibles, right,
- 52:20where we're fallible, and I think we're bound to make errors
- 52:23and mistakes and at times, you know, go against a loss upon the
- 52:30whole Attallah be it for the actions that we do, but to
- 52:33always have back in the mind that yes, Allah Alhammad Rahman,
- 52:36but we have Hussein and that's what stands out bro.
- 52:39Some people. My point is don't lose, don't
- 52:43ever lose hope, whatever stage you are in your life.
- 52:46Honestly, because this was from a lecture that I was hearing by
- 52:50say Madarasi, the one that was giving the Arabic lectures and
- 52:53Hussain Rosaladam this year, I think it was night 3 or night
- 52:56four, I can't remember now where he was.
- 52:58Like if you, if you oppressing someone, you're hosseini, it's
- 53:03time to change. For example, you're earning
- 53:07Haram money and you're hosseini, it's time to change.
- 53:10And he kept going on and on. I think he listed like 20
- 53:13different examples that many of us can relate with right in the
- 53:15crowd. And it was like the door of
- 53:18Allah is open and the key is with Hussein and you choose do
- 53:23you want, do you want to be under the mercy and the rahma of
- 53:26God? Allah has given you Hussein.
- 53:28No one else has this. No other sects has this.
- 53:31As Shia, we have understood Hussein.
- 53:33Everyone can claim they love their little bit Alim Salam, yet
- 53:36they claim those who killed their little bit Alim Salam.
- 53:38We're different here. We have Hussein take the
- 53:41opportunity and use that Rahman, that door which is about
- 53:49Abdullah. Hussein, been a nice episode,
- 53:57nice dynamic conversation. So thank you for tuning in.
- 54:01Say, do you want to wrap up? I just want to say please keep
- 54:04us on your duas. Pray for us.
- 54:06Inshallah we do end up in Karbala, not just this year or
- 54:10last year, next year and every year.
- 54:13But for for that dua and inshallah to be answered, you
- 54:15need to hit that subscribe button.
- 54:17And believe me, we don't gain nothing from that subscription
- 54:22via financially or how we feel like subscriptions Charlotte
- 54:26they'll increase. But this is what allows the
- 54:28channel to grow and the Charlotte the world to spread to
- 54:31far places around the world. All right, guys, we'll see you
- 54:34next week. Take care.
