- 0:30Uh, all right, Brad, well bring us in.
- 0:32Welcome drive through episode
- 0:42Automobile Automobile.
- 0:56This is one of my favorite episodes of the year.
- 0:59Why?
- 0:59Why is that?
- 1:00Because it's June, we get to talk about.
- 1:02The 24 hours of incredible time.
- 1:05This is the pinnacle of racing, the best racing on television, the best event of
- 1:09the year, the most spectacular spectacle.
- 1:11I'm sorry, I thought the pinnacle of racing was Formula One.
- 1:14What's the exact opposite of Pinnacle?
- 1:16The pinnacle and the pinnacle.
- 1:17Oh, there it.
- 1:18There it is.
- 1:19There it there.
- 1:19It's.
- 1:20Our new segment.
- 1:21Our new segment, the Pinnacle and the Pitiful.
- 1:23Well, we have a guest in the house tonight.
- 1:25He foreshadowed a little bit sooth saying maybe he had some magic juju.
- 1:30He rubbed the Ferrari emblem a little bit last week.
- 1:32It's a wonderful thing to have so many creators on the Motoring Podcast
- 1:36Network in studio with us tonight.
- 1:37William, big Money Ross.
- 1:39Here to celebrate Ferrari's victory.
- 1:41Good evening.
- 1:43Ooh, listen to you.
- 1:43Yes.
- 1:44This isn't William Ross, who, who is this guy?
- 1:47He doesn't sound all nasally and doesn't sound like he's talking
- 1:51through a sewer pipe or something.
- 1:52Yeah.
- 1:53For everyone listening, I finally stepped up and got a new microphone.
- 1:56We love it.
- 1:56We love it.
- 1:57All right, let's talk about, let's talk about the 24 hours of Le Mans.
- 2:01Oh man, what a weekend.
- 2:04William.
- 2:04You must be a proud papa as a Ferrari Papa Threepeat three in a row.
- 2:09The hat trick.
- 2:10Well, yeah, I mean it's awesome to see that, but I think the real cool
- 2:13thing is that they, of course, the team won with Robert Kizza at the Wheel.
- 2:17Yeah, I think that's just, that's awesome.
- 2:19For everything he's been through.
- 2:21It's come full circle 10 years ago, signing for a fer ride.
- 2:24Then he had his accident in the rally car and now he comes back and you know,
- 2:28he wins Le Mans and that being a private tier team, that was awesome to see.
- 2:32Well earned.
- 2:33It was really.
- 2:33Cool to see.
- 2:34It looked like for a second there, what was there like two hours to ago, three
- 2:38hours ago, when all of a sudden he's saying about having a box, something
- 2:41with the air tube or something.
- 2:43Yeah.
- 2:43And it just couldn't do something with it or something like that.
- 2:45I was like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:46Suck it up.
- 2:47Drive, you know, it is.
- 2:49Just get there and make it happen.
- 2:51I mean, on one side.
- 2:52Yeah.
- 2:53Hey, after s scootering, it wouldn't have been a 1, 2, 3
- 2:55because someone got disqualified.
- 2:57It was good to see Porsche bringing it.
- 2:59Penske getting thwarted again.
- 3:00Two in a row for them too.
- 3:02The Indy 500, they got DQ for, we'll call it, modified their vehicle
- 3:07outside of the specified parameters.
- 3:08Not cheating, but you know, modifications.
- 3:11Yeah.
- 3:12Something along those lines.
- 3:13However you wanna legalize it.
- 3:16Let's talk about Kizza for a second.
- 3:18Brad.
- 3:18Tanya, you know about this accident, right?
- 3:20Have you seen the videos of what happened to him?
- 3:22No.
- 3:22Uh, it's been a long time.
- 3:24I know I. He almost died, was pretty severe.
- 3:26I think he hit a tree or something.
- 3:28I know he broke his leg very severely.
- 3:30So this was back in the days when, what would today would be like the
- 3:33WRC two cars, like the VW Polo and the Skoda and the Seas and all those that
- 3:37they had running back Then he spins and hits basically a guardrail and
- 3:41the guardrail comes through the car.
- 3:43Mm-hmm.
- 3:43It's absolutely horrific when you see the pictures of it and everything.
- 3:46It's like completely fluke too, of all the things to hit.
- 3:49Yeah, just nutty.
- 3:50Absolutely nutty.
- 3:51So he's been back in the driver's seat for quite a while, so to go
- 3:54from that, you know, near death.
- 3:56Experience to winning Le Mans.
- 3:57That's a heck of a story.
- 3:58Yeah.
- 3:58I mean his hand is basically unusable.
- 4:00Anyways, that's the one thing that's, so he is literally basically driving
- 4:03with one hand, you know, he can use it, kind of push things around so that, but
- 4:07they gotta modify stuff 'cause it's just basically a dangling appendage there.
- 4:11That's what makes all that much more impressive.
- 4:13He was able to come back from that and he's driving at this top level.
- 4:15Just goes to show how easy it is to drive a car with a floppy paddle gearbox.
- 4:21Yeah.
- 4:21'cause that was back older.
- 4:22That wouldn't happen in no way.
- 4:24So I agree with you.
- 4:25You know I watched a good portion of the race later into the race 'cause I had
- 4:29obligations with the A CO and the Symone event and all those kinds of things.
- 4:33But what I did watch sporadically through the weekend, I had this moment,
- 4:37I was talking to some folks while we were there at the viewing party.
- 4:39You know, they were talking about Porsche versus Ferrari and this
- 4:42and that and you know, cars and the automotive engine and I'm like, look.
- 4:44You have to realize Porsche, Ferrari, they're a league above
- 4:47everybody else because we're seeing two of the finest engineering
- 4:51companies in the world going at it.
- 4:53Not just car companies, but engineering companies.
- 4:56And so to see them duking it out and then 9 63, unfortunately
- 5:00it doesn't have the legs.
- 5:01They haven't figured it out after all three, four years now of
- 5:04development and good for Ferrari.
- 5:06That's all he kept saying was for Ferrari, they need to win this.
- 5:09And they need to go out on a high stop after this year 'cause Ford
- 5:13is coming and you don't wanna set yourself up like Toyota has done the
- 5:17last couple years where it's just been this downward spiral where it's
- 5:21evident that Toyota was running with no competition for a very, very long time.
- 5:25Well, I think the one thing Penske or Porsche has that issue with that
- 5:28car is, and I could be wrong, but having to basically make that usable
- 5:33or qualify for both sides of the pond.
- 5:35Yeah, I mean you got totally different scenarios in regards to tracks that you're
- 5:39running an INSA than you are to we, yeah.
- 5:41You got street, all these crazy ass stuff they do over here that those cars
- 5:45aren't meant to be on that kind of track.
- 5:46First of all.
- 5:47I mean on some of these courses here in the United States, it doesn't make sense.
- 5:50But I think that could be the issue in regards to what they can't.
- 5:53Because it's gonna be give and take.
- 5:54Alright, do you want to have it for that or you wanna have it for that?
- 5:56What do you wanna win?
- 5:57And I hear differing opinions on that.
- 5:59'cause we had Jordan Taylor on as part of evening with the legend and he said the
- 6:02Cadillac that they were running, which the Wayne Taylor car didn't do as good
- 6:06as they had projected, but he was like, the setup really isn't that different.
- 6:09They have a different arrow package for Le Mans because it's so much
- 6:12straighter and so much longer.
- 6:13So they can do more speed.
- 6:15But then again, they're speed limited.
- 6:17They're sort of capped around 2 10, 2 12 on the upper end of speed anyway.
- 6:22But the card that they have there is the same card that they run over here.
- 6:25You know, the Cadillac, VLMP, dh, whatever all the acronyms are now.
- 6:29Yeah.
- 6:30No difference.
- 6:31I keep making the argument that the 9 63 is not a Porsche.
- 6:34People are like, oh, what do you mean it's a Porsche?
- 6:37I'm like, what of it is a Porsche other than the sticker between the headlights?
- 6:41It's a Delara chassis with an Audi power plant and a oh, but the magic juju.
- 6:46And I'm like, yeah, whatever.
- 6:49BM BMW is a Delara.
- 6:50The Cadillacs at Delara, the Ferrari, the winning Ferrari is a Delara chassis.
- 6:54Yes.
- 6:54You look up and see on that little one-off they built for Mr. Roger
- 6:58Sil, whatever his middle name is, Penske, it's not really road legal.
- 7:02Mm-hmm.
- 7:02Per se.
- 7:03They got special dispensation from government's, whatnot, to drive it.
- 7:06But I thought that thing was pretty killer.
- 7:08And everyone's talking about is that gonna be the next Halo car?
- 7:11Right.
- 7:12But to your point, you're like, no, because it really can't,
- 7:14because it's not really a Porsche.
- 7:16Mm-hmm.
- 7:17It's just name badge only.
- 7:18That's what you get with the regulations.
- 7:20I mean, that's what you're gonna have.
- 7:21So I wanted to ask Tanya, I know secretly you were rooting for
- 7:24the PEO and the nine x eight.
- 7:25I mean, what's going on?
- 7:27Them and Alpine.
- 7:28I, I, yes.
- 7:30I know they're not gonna do anything, but I would love to see the PEO finish better.
- 7:35I thought when they debuted that car and they debuted it without a rear
- 7:39wing, so without had downforce, it's just like you guys are buck wild.
- 7:44Why are you doing this?
- 7:45But then they were actually, they weren't even terrible.
- 7:48It all kind of fell apart I think in kind of the last quarter, second
- 7:51half of the 24 hours and more towards the last quarter of it.
- 7:54But I felt like they were hanging in there without a rear ring.
- 7:58They let a couple laps, didn't they?
- 8:00They did.
- 8:00Like they were hanging.
- 8:01It almost looked like, oh my gosh, are these guys gonna pull it off?
- 8:04And I don't know since then, and I really think it's cool looking peo I agree.
- 8:08I think sweet.
- 8:09They said there were more cars on the same lead lap than there'd like
- 8:13ever been in quite a long time.
- 8:15So I think that's where you're getting at Tanya, that even the PEOs
- 8:18were still in the lead lap, even though they were behind like, you
- 8:20know, 40 seconds or whatever it is.
- 8:22It is a three and a half minute lap after all right.
- 8:24There's a lot of delta there.
- 8:26But yeah, I root for them too as the underdog.
- 8:28And they did come up with a really slippery car and then
- 8:30they realized that didn't work.
- 8:32So then they had to put air foils all over it, which has
- 8:34significantly slowed them down.
- 8:36Alpine.
- 8:37I'm still scratching my head.
- 8:38They're like, get it together.
- 8:39Well, I hope to see them do better and.
- 8:42I guess we also have to look out for the magma.
- 8:47Oh no, it's back.
- 8:49Brad, look at this thing.
- 8:50But did anyone catch the reveal at Le Mans?
- 8:53No.
- 8:53'cause we hardly saw any of the race.
- 8:55Right.
- 8:56But apparently they were, team magma was revealing their.
- 9:00Future L-M-P-D-H hypercar.
- 9:03It looks like it's on fire.
- 9:04You know, it's a really cool paint job.
- 9:07I will give it that.
- 9:08Is that the Cadillac with the Genesis badge on it?
- 9:10Yes.
- 9:13I mean, I know that's an option.
- 9:15Like you could just get your chassis in your body from Dara and that's that.
- 9:19But it looks an awful lot like the Cadillac.
- 9:22They don't give details other than V eight engine, hybrid system, yada, yada, yada.
- 9:28Oh, I love this.
- 9:29The racing team's decision to employ a V eight powertrain, which was
- 9:32designed basically by combining two of Genesis 1.6 liter turbo four cylinder.
- 9:38That's like straight outta Audi's playbook.
- 9:40We need a V eight.
- 9:41We got two 16 vow Rocco engines.
- 9:43Boom, we got a V eight now.
- 9:45Here we go.
- 9:45There you go.
- 9:46And so these are based on the WRC engines.
- 9:49Hopefully they're not using the Hyundai hybrid system that's in the rally cars,
- 9:52'cause those are notoriously unreliable.
- 9:54So hopefully they'll get their MGU from somebody else.
- 9:57Uh, they don't really talk about yet some of those specifics, so I
- 10:01guess we'll have to watch out for it.
- 10:02Obviously they're putting the bug in everyone's ear.
- 10:05So will it be.
- 10:07Officially debuted on track next, Lemone next year, I guess Time will tell.
- 10:12They do say they're gonna try to be competing in next year's we races.
- 10:16What's McLaren running in theirs?
- 10:18I know they debuted theirs too.
- 10:19Yeah, that's right.
- 10:20McLaren was talking about coming back as well.
- 10:22I know they dropped a curtain on that thing as well.
- 10:24Also, I believe had a show of that.
- 10:27Can we Photoshop the McLaren badge on this car?
- 10:29'cause it probably looks very similar.
- 10:31It probably, yeah.
- 10:31In Orange.
- 10:32So it's getting confusing.
- 10:33Well, you know, and going back to talk about the eo, that's what's great about
- 10:36that car is they didn't copy, they didn't like, Hey, we'll take this into, I mean,
- 10:40they just went start from scratch and just went at it and I mean, and the car kudo
- 10:44to them and then for sticking with it.
- 10:45Yeah, they end up having to add all the arrow and stuff like that after the fact.
- 10:48But you know what, that's some.
- 10:50Kaho to jump out and what they started with, what are they saying is they're
- 10:53hoping, was it by 2027 that they said they should be winning or something like that?
- 10:59Of course, everyone, you know, all teams say that, oh, in
- 11:01two years we'll be winning.
- 11:02Yeah.
- 11:02You know, and same with lp, but you know, LPLP, that's just the whole cluster.
- 11:05You know what, all across the board, all the racing departments.
- 11:08So what year is the 9 63 gonna win?
- 11:10Um,
- 11:14the, the classic.
- 11:15Oh yeah, yeah.
- 11:15There we go.
- 11:16There we go.
- 11:16That makes sense.
- 11:17Or historics.
- 11:18Yeah.
- 11:19Yeah.
- 11:19Never until it's a full fledged factory effort.
- 11:22Never.
- 11:23Well, that's just it, right?
- 11:24Corvette was the last holdout.
- 11:26They were the last factory team, and now everything is private
- 11:29tier, quote unquote works cars.
- 11:31And it's just like, okay, maybe we'll see.
- 11:34But you know, that's another thing I noticed in the GT class, whatever
- 11:38GTLM, it used to be back in the day, they didn't get a lot of coverage.
- 11:42This Le Mans either, they focused a lot on the LMP one class, you know,
- 11:46all the big cars, the hypercar.
- 11:47At one point, I think I might have asked you, Tanya, I was like, are
- 11:50there even any Corvettes running?
- 11:51'cause I don't even remember seeing them on tv.
- 11:53It was like, and then I spotted the red one and I was like, oh, there
- 11:55is a Corvette running at Le Mans.
- 11:57There's a couple, weren't there?
- 11:58There three?
- 11:58Yeah, there were, but they were just, nobody was paying attention to them
- 12:01because no one pay attention to anything.
- 12:02They're privateers, right?
- 12:03So you're just like, eh, whatever.
- 12:04Who cares?
- 12:04It's all Pratt Miller.
- 12:05Yeah.
- 12:06I was a little surprised by that.
- 12:07'cause you know, usually you have your better racing.
- 12:10In that class that's going on 'cause they're banging on each other and
- 12:13going at it from drop of the flag.
- 12:16I was a little surprised by that.
- 12:17They weren't paying much attention to it as intently as they normally do.
- 12:20And then there was a big battle that somehow we all missed it.
- 12:24That happened in the GT three class.
- 12:26That's what it's called now.
- 12:27Right?
- 12:27Between Porsche and Ferrari.
- 12:30And that ended with Af Corsa in second place.
- 12:33Yeah, man.
- 12:34Tie one.
- 12:35Exactly.
- 12:36But that was a good battle.
- 12:37But they hardly ever showed it on tv.
- 12:38It was like, it was ridiculous.
- 12:40Well, the one unfortunately in the, uh, other class, Valentino
- 12:43Rossi's team that he's running with those BMWs, I mean, they're good.
- 12:45I mean, he can drive, there's no doubt about that.
- 12:47And that's a strong team.
- 12:48And it sucked if they got knocked out like they did.
- 12:50Yeah, that was unfortunate.
- 12:51That would've been cool to see him win at Le Mans in a car.
- 12:56That, that'd been a great story.
- 12:57Well, that happened last year too, where they got knocked out
- 12:59or the car broke or something.
- 13:01So that's two years in a row.
- 13:02Disappointment for Valentino Rossi.
- 13:04That's unfortunate.
- 13:05But hey, got another year to go.
- 13:07Well, I mean, how old is he?
- 13:0746. Four.
- 13:09Four.
- 13:09Three.
- 13:09I mean, he's still young.
- 13:10He's got plenty of time.
- 13:11He's not as old as Alonzo.
- 13:12So he is still got time.
- 13:14Oh yeah.
- 13:14Plenty of time.
- 13:15He's older.
- 13:15He's actually, I think he's older 'cause he is 46.
- 13:18Lies.
- 13:18Lies Alonzo's, like 62 years old.
- 13:20Come on now.
- 13:23Alonzo's only 43.
- 13:24Oh, I don't believe that at all.
- 13:26So I'm gonna throw this out there for you guys to debate.
- 13:28We know that WEC is multi-class racing.
- 13:32We know that IMSA is multi-class racing, but when you get to Le Mans and
- 13:35you start looking at LMP one GTP, whatever it's called this week, right?
- 13:39L-M-D-L-M-D-H, yada, yada, yada, yada.
- 13:42But that's why it gets confusing because inside of P one you have like
- 13:47four other classes running together.
- 13:49You know, hypercar, hybrid LMP one, and then you've got stuff normally aspirated.
- 13:54Not that you like the acid mark and Valkyrie.
- 13:56So there's this sort of weird mixed class at the top of the totem pole.
- 14:01And so we even talked about it this weekend.
- 14:04Should they regulate P one or make it an unlimited class?
- 14:08Brad, what do you think?
- 14:09Unlimited.
- 14:10Tanya has popcorn in her mouth.
- 14:12I have no comment on this.
- 14:13What?
- 14:13How she's reserving her comments for F1.
- 14:16Oh, okay.
- 14:16Well, yeah, that, yeah, we'll get to that.
- 14:19So William, GTP.
- 14:20What do we think?
- 14:21Should it be an unlimited class?
- 14:22Let 'em just do what they're doing.
- 14:24Unlimited.
- 14:24Go nuts.
- 14:25Let the engineers go wild.
- 14:27Yes.
- 14:27Put the, uh, accountants away and let the engineers go crazy.
- 14:30Yeah, just say, alright, here's your energy capacity.
- 14:33That's it.
- 14:33Let everything else just go nuts.
- 14:34Like in the seventies, five liter.
- 14:36Yes.
- 14:37Do whatever you want after that.
- 14:38Do whatever you want.
- 14:39Open up your checkbooks and have at it.
- 14:41Or, I mean, if you cap it, I mean, hey, you know, it's let,
- 14:43let the engineers go crazy.
- 14:45I think that level, that's what that should have.
- 14:47I mean, yeah, there's a couple things here and there.
- 14:49Maybe trickle down 10 years after the fact in the road cars, but I
- 14:53mean that's your premier racing and reality is the manufacturers getting
- 14:58into it is all about the powertrain.
- 15:00It's not about the car, it is just about the engine.
- 15:02The powertrain here, have that experiment.
- 15:05Do what you want, bam.
- 15:06There you go.
- 15:06There's your reliability test, everything like that.
- 15:08So I think that's what they should do is just figure out some engine
- 15:10parameters, stick with that.
- 15:11Then let everything else just go nuts.
- 15:13I will say that VE Creek sounds amazing, right?
- 15:16And I think there were a lot of people rooting for that and they got DQ
- 15:19right away, like back of the pack, back with Penske and they were done.
- 15:23They're like, who bears?
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:24At that point, I don't even remember what the infraction was that caused
- 15:27them to start at the back of the pack, but I was like, that's pathetic.
- 15:30I'm like, really?
- 15:31Too awesome.
- 15:35That sounds very French brat.
- 15:39Too awesome.
- 15:40Back at the pack.
- 15:40It's too awesome.
- 15:43They should have made him a honorary garage 56 card and then
- 15:46they could have won their own class and it would've been all right.
- 15:47Was there a garage 56 car?
- 15:49No.
- 15:49That's so seldom that they do that.
- 15:52It's gotta be something really ridiculously different.
- 15:54Like a Camaro.
- 15:55Well, yeah, like NASCAR car, NASCAR Camaro.
- 15:58Yeah.
- 15:58Alright, so the GTPP one field keeps getting bigger.
- 16:02Like this is the biggest, it's been in a long time.
- 16:04Not as big as the seventies and the eighties, where you basically
- 16:07had two classes running at Le Mans prototypes and nine 30 fives.
- 16:11That's pretty much what the seventies boiled down to.
- 16:13It's getting bigger and they're talking about more brands coming, right?
- 16:17Hyundai slash Genesis Ford's coming.
- 16:19And then we were talking about it like, when is the shoe gonna fall
- 16:22and Mercedes is gonna throw in a car?
- 16:24And then, you know, Lambos supposed to have a car that qualifies in that class,
- 16:28not just in GTD, if that's the case.
- 16:31Brad, your favorite class.
- 16:33You know Jackie Chan's gonna be sitting only in those grandstands.
- 16:36He is not gonna be able to campaign an LMP two car.
- 16:38Are you okay with that?
- 16:40Yes.
- 16:41Yes.
- 16:42It's like pop quiz.
- 16:43Which class gets the least amount of TV coverage during
- 16:46a Le Mansr race Over 24 hours.
- 16:48LMP two.
- 16:49I'm personally not sad.
- 16:51If LMP two goes away, it would be cool to make LMP two a support race
- 16:56where it's like they run for maybe four hours or six hours the day before
- 16:59or something, you know, whatever.
- 17:00Just get 'em out of the way.
- 17:01But if the P one class gets so big, there's just not gonna be enough space.
- 17:06Or we gonna have like 90 cars running at Le Mans.
- 17:09How is there not enough space?
- 17:11It's an eight mile track.
- 17:13How many cars do they fit on Watkins Glen?
- 17:15Like what's, what's the ratio?
- 17:16How many cars per mile?
- 17:1820 per mile or something.
- 17:19Okay, so, so 20.
- 17:20Yeah, so at that point, so, okay.
- 17:24Was that 160 cars?
- 17:25We got plenty of space then.
- 17:26Yes.
- 17:27Just keep adding, bring back P three as well.
- 17:28We'll be all right.
- 17:29I don't know.
- 17:30I personally would like to see P two go away just because
- 17:33they don't get enough love.
- 17:34And it would be cool to have like a dedicated coverage just for them
- 17:37and get excited about a spec race.
- 17:39'cause that's what it is.
- 17:40They're either orcas or they'res.
- 17:42And the power plant is like Gibson or Judd.
- 17:44It's very watered down to like, this is the formula and that's it.
- 17:47And then, you know, none of the drivers really get any airtime really.
- 17:50And at the end you're like, oh wow, somebody won P two.
- 17:52Like that's fantastic.
- 17:53This sounds like a support race for a NASCAR race.
- 17:56Gibson and Judd.
- 18:00You got a Gibson in there or Judd?
- 18:02I got the Judd in mine.
- 18:03Oh, we got the Gibson over here.
- 18:05Yeah.
- 18:05Right.
- 18:05I mean, what is the point of LM two?
- 18:08I mean, what, what is the point?
- 18:09And I could be wrong.
- 18:10Sort of like almost like a feeder system into the bigger classes.
- 18:14That exist, like the hypercar and GTP and all that.
- 18:17But it also helped keep the racing sort of going when there were only Toyota and
- 18:22Toyota and Toyota, there was nobody else.
- 18:25But I think the LMP two class was strictly a cash grab for the gentleman drivers.
- 18:29You know, that's not far off.
- 18:31No, they, they needed to fund it somehow.
- 18:33Are there any gentlemen, drivers qualified to run in P one?
- 18:36I think they all have to be platinum, right?
- 18:37I would hope you to be platinum at that point, but you can't be
- 18:40a bronze driver at that level.
- 18:42I have to check the rule book.
- 18:44I mean, like to think, yeah, I can't think of any gentlemen drivers.
- 18:47'cause even Ben Keating ran P two and GT cars.
- 18:52That's the only thing he's been able to do as a gentleman.
- 18:54Driver and I, I don't think anybody is able to run P one if
- 18:57they're not like a pro driver.
- 18:58Yeah.
- 18:59I don't know.
- 18:59Well, like I said, Toyota, Toyota, Toyota.
- 19:01Let's talk about Cadillac for a second.
- 19:03Another car that sounds fantastic.
- 19:06Not as good as Aston, but it's damn good.
- 19:08It goes back to qualifying hyper pole, all that stuff.
- 19:11Was Ferrari and Porsche sandbagging?
- 19:13Is that what we've concluded here?
- 19:15I don't think so.
- 19:16They even admitted that Cadillac was, you know, over one lap was fast.
- 19:19It was just sort of long distance runs.
- 19:21So I don't know what happens to the car if I'm doing one lap to say doing lap 20 on
- 19:27it tires, you know, those things last, how many stints they were doing on the sets.
- 19:30I mean, nothing's changed on that car from, you know, one lap to 10 laps.
- 19:34So I, I don't know.
- 19:35I guess maybe they were, I don't know.
- 19:36I don't think they were.
- 19:37But if you're looking at a big picture, who gives a shit about hyper pole?
- 19:41Just the race win that you want.
- 19:43I mean, as long as you're starting up front.
- 19:44Well, and that's just it, right?
- 19:46Cadillac's on the pole, and by the first pit stop it's like.
- 19:50Ooh, see all later, 14th spot, like, what the heck happened?
- 19:53Like completely fell apart.
- 19:54And that's where I was.
- 19:55And to your point, unlike a Formula One race where we try to win by the first
- 19:59corner, in most cases, Le Mans is not one in the first corner or the first lapper
- 20:03in the first hour because it's all day.
- 20:06You really gotta stretch those cars out.
- 20:07And you're right about the tire stents.
- 20:09They were saying Porsche was doing 13 laps per stent, and then
- 20:12they're triple stining the tires.
- 20:14So they're getting well rounded down to 36 laps on a tire, which
- 20:18that's a lot of miles at nearly nine miles, you know, on a set of slicks.
- 20:22That's pretty damn good.
- 20:23You know?
- 20:24They're really making the use out of that rubber.
- 20:26Yeah, that public school math.
- 20:27Yeah.
- 20:2736 laps.
- 20:28That's why Brad's my number guy.
- 20:33Yeah.
- 20:33Well, you know, I mean, maybe the fact was too, just in traffic, that
- 20:37thing, especially in the beginning, your first few hours, you're so
- 20:39clustered, it just wasn't there with it.
- 20:41It couldn't, who knows?
- 20:42But yeah, it was a little bit surprising that it dropped off that much that fast.
- 20:46Yeah, it was a bit surprising.
- 20:48It was.
- 20:48So, I don't know if you guys noticed or not.
- 20:50This was the first Le Mans since 22.
- 20:54It hasn't rained during the race.
- 20:56It was a completely dry race, which unfortunately, in my
- 20:59opinion, made it kind of boring.
- 21:00Yeah.
- 21:00Wet weather always adds a little excitement to things.
- 21:02A little spice.
- 21:03Yeah.
- 21:04Even a night racing, because it was so dry, was just like, oh, okay.
- 21:07Yeah, whatever.
- 21:08They're just go doing lap.
- 21:09Wow.
- 21:10Well, let's just hope it's dry in two weeks.
- 21:12Yes.
- 21:12Oh, so speaking of the classics, I got some inside baseball from people
- 21:16that were at the viewing party.
- 21:18They were telling me that the way classic is formatted, so we were under the
- 21:21impression they're just gonna send out.
- 21:23Everything from the chitty chitty bang bang to, you know, the
- 21:26Mazda 7 87 B. And they're just gonna run for 24 hours straight.
- 21:29No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:30It's all broken up.
- 21:31There's all these car corrals, like where all the Porsches are parked.
- 21:34And then the Porsche members come and then they said there'll be Ferrari
- 21:37parking, lots of four or 500 cars alone.
- 21:39So they said you can spend all day just looking at cars in the parking lot,
- 21:43let alone what's going on on track.
- 21:44And then what they do is they break it down like Goodwood, and they run them
- 21:48by classes for a certain period of time.
- 21:50And so certain classes run during the day, and then other ones only run at night.
- 21:55And so they run cars throughout the 24 hours nonstop, but they're going
- 22:00out on track and they're coming in and doing all that kind of stuff.
- 22:03Yeah.
- 22:03And I've seen how that was getting set up, which I thought was, it's nice because
- 22:06you get to see everything run and you can see the different, everything like that.
- 22:09And 'cause like they only run for like two hours or four
- 22:12hours per something like that.
- 22:13Which is nice too is 'cause then the break you have between them, you know, all
- 22:17their stuff getting separate like that.
- 22:18I, I don't know.
- 22:19I'm excited for it.
- 22:19It's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 22:20That's gonna be sweet.
- 22:21So you mentioned the Ferrari threepeat at the beginning.
- 22:24Congratulations to them, but not gonna talk about the
- 22:27disqualification of the number 50 car.
- 22:29That's your job.
- 22:30What's up?
- 22:30Did you know that it was disqualified?
- 22:32I heard about it today as a matter of fact.
- 22:35So the number 50 car, which finished in fourth place, apparently got
- 22:38disqualified for being unsafe.
- 22:41Or possibly having an unfair speed advantage because four bolts
- 22:46were missing from the rear wing.
- 22:48Yeah.
- 22:48Did you start reading into it?
- 22:49It's like, huh?
- 22:50And it's like, okay, so four bolts were missing.
- 22:53It was unsafe, and yet the car drove for 24 hours without anything happening.
- 22:58Okay.
- 22:58Yeah.
- 22:58So let me explain how this collusion works.
- 23:02Okay.
- 23:04The fact that the 51 car did that ridiculous pirouette
- 23:09going in into the pit lane.
- 23:10Remember that?
- 23:11Where they were like, they weren't sure if they were gonna give him a penalty or not.
- 23:15They had just given Sebastian Bourdain a penalty for doing the same thing.
- 23:18You know, running over the white line.
- 23:19Pure GUI comes in, smoking, hot into the pit, locks it up, spins it around,
- 23:24you know, hits the curb, all this stuff.
- 23:26And then nobody says a word.
- 23:27You know, he comes in the pit, changes his tires, goes back out.
- 23:30Everybody's just, they're like, oh man, we're gonna get like a, you
- 23:32know, whatever, ten second penalty like they would do in Formula One.
- 23:35And they went the whole race and nobody said anything.
- 23:38The officials were like, it's under investigation, blah, blah, blah.
- 23:41And then.
- 23:41There was never any talk about it ever again.
- 23:43And we were watching the official feed from France, so you're getting all
- 23:46like the extra stuff coming through that versus the televised stuff on HBO.
- 23:50Okay.
- 23:51So they went radio silent on the Ferrari and I think this was their opportunity.
- 23:55They found something else and they said, ah, we didn't get you the first
- 23:58time because you know, we couldn't, but now we're gonna get you and
- 24:01we're gonna get you really good.
- 24:02So collusion.
- 24:05On the car that didn't do it.
- 24:06Yeah.
- 24:06Well, and apparently too, I, the claim I guess is like the final 37
- 24:11minutes is where this all matters.
- 24:13And it was lapped 380 of 387 Oh my God.
- 24:17Where it made its highest top speed and therefore the loss of those
- 24:21bolts, the deflection of that wing, allowed it to, they were falling back.
- 24:26They got no competitive advantage.
- 24:28They were in fourth place for crying out loud, does it even matter?
- 24:31Fourth place and falling back.
- 24:34I don't know.
- 24:35I mean, rules are rules.
- 24:36I get it.
- 24:36I think Christian Horner made a phone call.
- 24:42He hates Ferrari so much.
- 24:44He made a phone call, he was watching the race.
- 24:46He's like, this is unfair advantage.
- 24:48That's awesome.
- 24:49Check the bolts.
- 24:50He sent a text message.
- 24:51Check the bolts.
- 24:52Was that before or after?
- 24:53Called 'em up.
- 24:54Asked em if they wanna take F spot on the, oh yeah.
- 25:00As we kind of tail out the Le Mans talk.
- 25:02And we're gonna talk a little bit more about the related
- 25:04motorsport here 'cause we need to do a little comparison shopping.
- 25:07Let's talk about the sione event.
- 25:08Tanya, you came up for a good portion of the first day and uh, what did you think?
- 25:13Uh, it was a good event.
- 25:15I was a little bit surprised actually.
- 25:17Maybe I shouldn't have been, I don't know.
- 25:18But by the number of people that were there, I'm surprised how many people know
- 25:23of the place, I guess, and maybe that's not fair to them, but it's definitely a
- 25:26hidden gem, I think, because very few, if basically anyone else does live demos
- 25:32of historic vehicles, basically, right?
- 25:35Only other one that's like, this is revs.
- 25:39Down in Florida.
- 25:40I think that's pretty interesting and it's more attention grabbing for people than
- 25:43just kind of walking around and reading a placard next to a car and moving on.
- 25:46So, um, it was nice to see that number of foot traffic that went through.
- 25:50I think there's potential in the event to be.
- 25:55Something more.
- 25:56I know it's their third year running it, so hopefully every year.
- 25:59I didn't participate in the first two years, so I don't know
- 26:01how this compares versus those.
- 26:03Hopefully it's been a somewhat of a step change progress, kind
- 26:07of better and better every year.
- 26:09But yeah, I would probably go again.
- 26:11So let me hit you with some staggering numbers.
- 26:13According to my sources.
- 26:16Because remember people rolling in and rolling out.
- 26:18Yes.
- 26:18It's really hard to keep track of Yes, it was who was there and who wasn't there.
- 26:22And every time they did a demo, the chairs that they had set up, they were full.
- 26:26And then there are people outside.
- 26:27There's people watching the race, there's people walking around.
- 26:29I mean, just people everywhere.
- 26:30So somewhere between 800 to a thousand people rolled through in 24 hours.
- 26:34Wow.
- 26:34That many, and I didn't realize this because you know, we were doing our
- 26:38little thing at the A CO booth and talking to potential members, why
- 26:41should I join and what's the club about?
- 26:43And they even gave us, you know, 15 minutes up on stage to talk
- 26:46about and promote the club.
- 26:47And I did that with one of our fellow club members and whatnot.
- 26:49We had 60 new registrants.
- 26:52Oh, sweet.
- 26:52That's outstanding.
- 26:54So it was like, when did that happen?
- 26:55We made it easy for people.
- 26:56Here's a QR code, fill out the form, put in your credit card.
- 26:59Boom, you're a member, you're done.
- 27:00We obviously helped some people do that, that were struggling a little
- 27:03bit with, you know, their cell phones or whatever, but I was like 60.
- 27:06I was like, holy smokes.
- 27:08That's incredible.
- 27:09The intent wasn't to really necessarily be a membership drive,
- 27:12but that's awesome for the a CO to grow like that, you know, in one day.
- 27:16Yeah, that's huge.
- 27:17That's a great statistic there to have that happen.
- 27:20That says a lot in regards to one, the interest and it's
- 27:24gaining momentum, but two.
- 27:25I think the venue helped immensely too, as compared to last year.
- 27:29Yeah, I should have got in my car and drove there Friday night.
- 27:31I told you it was doable.
- 27:33Pouring rain Saturday didn't even go.
- 27:36Oh man, it was raining.
- 27:38It was like, I mean, coming down buckets, I just, I go, I ain't going.
- 27:40I was like, I should have got my damn car and drove, it's like son of a bitch.
- 27:43We had off and on rain and I got handed to the curators at the Sione Foundation.
- 27:48Come hell or high water, they are running those cars outside.
- 27:51Cars are coming in, soaked it.
- 27:53They left a GT 40, mark two parked outside most of the day just sitting
- 27:57out in the rain, like whatever.
- 27:58And then at one point the hippie, nine 17 was out there
- 28:01with it just sitting out there.
- 28:02And then they bring it in when they, you know, when they needed to.
- 28:04And there was some prototype Ferrari, two 50 pontoon fender,
- 28:08which I've heard estimates anywhere between 20 and $50 million in value.
- 28:12And they're like, yeah, they took that thing out like three, four times.
- 28:15They're running around 50, 60 mile an hour.
- 28:17And it's like.
- 28:17You're killing me.
- 28:19But it's good to see a museum that, to Tanya's point isn't static.
- 28:23Yes.
- 28:24Everything else is just model cars in a big box.
- 28:26Do, does Simone have, um, land around there where they can expand the outdoor,
- 28:31because I know they do it in the parking lot, they do it, but it's not that big.
- 28:34So I don't know if there was actually room where they could potentially grow.
- 28:37It could be cost prohibitive.
- 28:39There's a train that runs directly behind the parking lot.
- 28:42Oh, all right.
- 28:43Yeah, that won't help.
- 28:44Amazon owns the other side.
- 28:45So unless they give up their lot, which apparently is huge, then they got nothing.
- 28:49And they're sandwiched in between other businesses.
- 28:52Yeah, it's back behind basically Philly airport.
- 28:55Well, the great thing is, is they're continue on and growing.
- 28:58Even after he passed, you see a lot of these things, the person that
- 29:01was driving force behind it, pushing it, but the money, everything like
- 29:03that, they died and it closes up.
- 29:05We'll get, you know, um, what's her names?
- 29:07They had all those plans for all the, you know, over Chester
- 29:10in England, all that stuff.
- 29:11And he dies and.
- 29:12Everything.
- 29:13Sell it all.
- 29:13Yeah.
- 29:14So that's good to see.
- 29:15To your point about acquisitions, they just acquired another car.
- 29:18They added one to the collection, they revealed it Saturday nights, 1952 Nash.
- 29:23It was the car that won the first 12 hours of Seabring.
- 29:26I tell you what, it's gorgeous.
- 29:28It's this pewter gray.
- 29:30It looks so sharp.
- 29:31It's got the typical Nash race car with the triple headlights shaped like
- 29:34a triangle in the front, you know?
- 29:36So it kind of makes that shape.
- 29:37It's nice.
- 29:37Straight six sounded so good.
- 29:39I was like, oh man, they just ran that thing out there for
- 29:42a while and then bring it in.
- 29:43And they actually used that car in the morning to like wake everybody.
- 29:46They literally drove it around the inside of the museum to like wake everybody up.
- 29:50It's like, what the heck is going on?
- 29:52No, that's awesome.
- 29:53I'll be there next year and well, you know, and because you
- 29:56weren't there, I didn't get a chance to really take any video.
- 29:58We were so busy doing other stuff and then finally like, Hey, I want 10
- 30:02minutes to watch the race, you know, do this eat, and all that kind of thing.
- 30:05I did take the time to film the Hippie nine 17, and so that'll be in the
- 30:10show notes for people to check out.
- 30:11That car is just.
- 30:12So cool.
- 30:13And then on top of it all, to have one of its previous owners there to
- 30:17talk to people about it, to talk about it, experiences and this and that.
- 30:20And then we had him up on stage.
- 30:21We had Harley Clarkson, the owner of Mirage, that's all the golf live cars,
- 30:25like the GT 40 behind you and all that.
- 30:27We had him there to do a live evening with a legend, which is usually,
- 30:31you know, our private Zoom sessions that we do with the A CO members.
- 30:33So that was really cool.
- 30:34It was a packed house for that too.
- 30:36It was like, where did all these people come from at seven o'clock at night?
- 30:39That was awesome.
- 30:40So unfortunately I didn't take as many videos.
- 30:42We've got a bunch of photographs and stuff we can share, but very cool experience,
- 30:46even if you've never been there before and you don't wanna wait till next
- 30:50Le Mans look at their demo schedule, pick something that resonates with you.
- 30:53'cause they'll do four or five, half a dozen cars and you get to kind of see how
- 30:57the museum works on a basic level, and then just extrapolate that out to four or
- 31:02five cars every other hour for 24 hours.
- 31:05I mean, it's just.
- 31:06Constant motion at the museum.
- 31:08Set it up.
- 31:08Let's go.
- 31:09Got plenty of time this summer.
- 31:10Set it up.
- 31:10I'll be there.
- 31:12I got the map and everything already on my phone.
- 31:15I'm down to clown William.
- 31:17I'm ready anytime you are.
- 31:19Alright.
- 31:20Ferrari, three peas at Le Mans.
- 31:22How come Ferrari Formula one can't build a car.
- 31:25That's worth a damn.
- 31:26I'm just gonna lay it out there.
- 31:37F1 is getting very, very boring.
- 31:40You don't say especially watching Monaco.
- 31:42That's just a joke.
- 31:43Charles Aire, however you wanna pronounce his name, Charles, whatever, he'll
- 31:47never be anything other than angry.
- 31:50Yes, angry.
- 31:50Angry.
- 31:51Little Frenchman.
- 31:51I'm sorry, manganese or whatever he pronounce that mangas.
- 31:55I think Louis Hamilton's passed his prime new regulations come in next
- 31:59year and it's either hit or miss.
- 32:00'cause then you're always chasing it.
- 32:02But it's whoever can nail it right outta the thing is gonna win.
- 32:05I mean, look what Mercedes did.
- 32:06And all of a sudden, now it's Red Bull came into it.
- 32:07Now all of a sudden it's McClaren.
- 32:09McClaren just got it, refined it and nailed down the little things to it.
- 32:13But now all of a sudden, next year, it's completely new regulations.
- 32:15You know, I always look at both sides and say, well, you know, if you
- 32:18look at qualifying that it's either no more than second or second half
- 32:22between lap times and everyone's always in 10, 10, this and that.
- 32:25But then you watch the race and everything spreads out and just why
- 32:28they can't get their shit together.
- 32:29And I just can't believe that they would get rid of Asur that quickly.
- 32:32Yeah.
- 32:32And put it all on him.
- 32:33Come on, whoever nicked the idea of bringing Newie and not just,
- 32:37oh, here, here's the checkbook, Adrian, how much you want?
- 32:40Whatever you need, get it.
- 32:41Why they didn't sign him.
- 32:42I don't know.
- 32:43Someone's ego got in the way.
- 32:45They didn't wanna have him there.
- 32:46And I don't know if it was au, whoever it was, but that was a huge F up on their
- 32:51part for not getting Adrian Newey huge.
- 32:54Especially next year, Aston Martin comes out and starts just crushing it.
- 32:58Heads will roll because that'll just prove the point.
- 33:00I mean, as we all know, Adrian knew he is just, you know, he's the man.
- 33:03That's that.
- 33:03And they'll have Honda engines, so they'll have the power, how
- 33:06they can still call themselves.
- 33:07Aston Martin is beyond me.
- 33:08I mean, so Tanya, you have this meme here.
- 33:12It's not a meme, it's a quote.
- 33:13Who's saying this?
- 33:14Fred Vaser apparently.
- 33:16And who is he referring to himself?
- 33:17I don't know who the one thing is.
- 33:20Is it the car at this point?
- 33:21The motor.
- 33:21Why don't you read it for our audience?
- 33:23'cause they're not looking at this.
- 33:24Fred Vaser is quoted as saying we must ask ourselves the right questions.
- 33:29If Ferrari hasn't won for years.
- 33:31We've changed the team principle, the drivers, we've changed everything.
- 33:35Except one thing is that his resignation like.
- 33:38What is that?
- 33:39Well, he's the principal that's changed, so they've already done that.
- 33:42I don't know.
- 33:42Is it higher ups in Ferrari?
- 33:45I think he's talking about their mentality, I would think.
- 33:48But I mean, obviously there's more than that that needs to change.
- 33:50But the problem with Ferrari is they're so bureaucratic in regards to
- 33:53how they run everything internally.
- 33:55It's.
- 33:56Horrendous.
- 33:57How is the Le Mans team?
- 33:58How are the 4, 9, 9 P guys getting away with it?
- 34:00They built a killer car three years in a row.
- 34:03You said it already.
- 34:04They're not a factory team.
- 34:06They're a private tier.
- 34:07Mm. And if they poach the guy that's running that now and put him in charge,
- 34:11get rid of Aser and put him in, then Okay.
- 34:13Then there goes your Le Manss team.
- 34:14They're done.
- 34:15Yeah.
- 34:15If they're trying to say that's the case, then they both suck.
- 34:18Yeah.
- 34:18Then they're both bad.
- 34:19That's why I said Ferrari has to leave Le Mans after this year.
- 34:23They need to stop and go out on a high three in a row.
- 34:26You know, wait another 52 years to come back and just call it a day.
- 34:30I feel like that's cowardly lying.
- 34:32They can't do that.
- 34:33Ford's coming in next year.
- 34:34They've gotta go against Ford.
- 34:35They have to.
- 34:36We need a new movie.
- 34:37Ford V. Ferrari, part two.
- 34:39Part two.
- 34:39It'll be like hot shots.
- 34:40Part part two.
- 34:41Yeah, part part two.
- 34:43Hot shots.
- 34:44Part two.
- 34:45That's awesome.
- 34:46The second one, as long as it doesn't end up like Highlander Part two.
- 34:50Nevermind.
- 34:50Like the naked gun.
- 34:51Two and a half or whatever it was.
- 34:53Oh, there is a new naked gun coming out.
- 34:54Let's not go there.
- 34:55Yeah, right.
- 34:56Oh, sweet.
- 34:57Don't search for that on the internet kids.
- 34:59So let's talk about Monaco just a little bit longer.
- 35:02Although it doesn't need any more airtime than it's already gotten.
- 35:05The drivers hate the race.
- 35:07The fans hate the race.
- 35:09Why are they still racing there?
- 35:11Other than that quote?
- 35:12It's Monaco.
- 35:13And who gives a crap?
- 35:15What's that Musical?
- 35:16Tradition.
- 35:17Tradition.
- 35:18Bitler on the roof.
- 35:19Yeah, there you go.
- 35:21I don't even think it's got anything to do with tradition.
- 35:23I think it's money.
- 35:24Oh yeah.
- 35:24Now moving the date too.
- 35:26They're changed all up.
- 35:27Not gonna be on Memorial Weekend anymore.
- 35:29Yeah, just a cash grab.
- 35:30Yeah.
- 35:30I mean, that's what it boils down to, you know, using that excuse.
- 35:33Oh, it's traditional.
- 35:34Oh, there's, yeah, Tanya said Everyone hates it there.
- 35:36Drivers hate it.
- 35:37Teams hate it.
- 35:37The cars are too big, there's no passing, there's nothing.
- 35:40And they tried to make it more interesting by forcing additional
- 35:44pit stops and it did nothing.
- 35:46Yeah, it did absolutely nothing.
- 35:47It did not change the order of anything.
- 35:49It made worse.
- 35:49That should have been a no pit stop race.
- 35:51Just get it done.
- 35:52And there should have been blue flag black flags for people that were just worse
- 35:57than parade lapping and holding people up.
- 35:59Like get outta the way.
- 36:01I think for Monaco, I think they should.
- 36:03Yeah.
- 36:03Like Eric said, no pit stops and then remove all FIA regulations.
- 36:07Just let 'em go.
- 36:08Just the the, the Mad Max race.
- 36:10That would be awesome.
- 36:11Thunderdome and every 10 laughs.
- 36:13They gotta switch cars with their teammate.
- 36:14They gotta jump in each other's car.
- 36:15That would make it way better be like Formula E. In the old
- 36:18days, they gotta switch cars.
- 36:20Yeah.
- 36:20And they, they should start a reverse grid.
- 36:22There we go.
- 36:23Ooh.
- 36:24And then maybe every 20 laps the drivers get out and fight.
- 36:29They get out into a fist fight.
- 36:32If they did reverse grid, that might be the only opportunity.
- 36:34Lance Scroll will ever win a race.
- 36:37Lance scroll.
- 36:38Lance school, if they would've reversed Grided, Monaco,
- 36:42Antonelli would've been first.
- 36:44Ah, that's true.
- 36:45Haass could get a win.
- 36:46If they reversed grid, it'd be amazing.
- 36:48They still wouldn't get a win.
- 36:49I'm impressed with Haass this year, I have to say, like they're
- 36:51kind of middle of the pack.
- 36:53There's no reason to really make fun of him anymore.
- 36:55And there's other teams where you're like, all right, Salberg is just
- 36:58there waiting for Audi to take over.
- 37:00And Aston Martin's pathetic.
- 37:01And Williams is sort of, again, fighting in the middle, so
- 37:04I can't really say too much.
- 37:06But the ones I poke the most fun at is Ferrari, and it's
- 37:09heartbreaking every race.
- 37:11Is pathetic.
- 37:12I don't understand their dog shit.
- 37:13Slow.
- 37:13That's all I can say.
- 37:14I don't unders like DRS wide open drafting somebody and you
- 37:19still can't get around them.
- 37:20Oh, which race was it?
- 37:21Catalonia?
- 37:21I don't remember, but I know you didn't believe me for the longest time
- 37:24when I said the Ferraris are slow, like there is a problem with them.
- 37:28And then you saw it when it was like Hamilton versus LeClaire and
- 37:31the DS Open couldn't pass them.
- 37:33LeClaire couldn't pass Hamilton with the DRS open.
- 37:36What are you talking about?
- 37:38Yeah.
- 37:38And then you see like whoever the hell else has with their DRS open
- 37:41and they're like, shoot by somebody.
- 37:43It's like, what is that?
- 37:44It's an air break instead of like a speed up.
- 37:47It was team orders.
- 37:48Yeah, they get on the radio, let him buy Why Made sense.
- 37:52You know why?
- 37:53Because you end up like Lando in Canada.
- 37:55That's why.
- 37:56Oh, what a knucklehead.
- 37:58What was he thinking?
- 38:00That guy is.
- 38:01His own worst enemy.
- 38:02And he chokes.
- 38:04He chokes.
- 38:05What a knucklehead.
- 38:06Yeah.
- 38:06Where do you think you were going?
- 38:08Yeah, that was a eye racing move.
- 38:11Like he was suddenly gonna have traction and space on an island
- 38:14that is the size of Brad's shoe.
- 38:16Well he, he must have thought pry was just gonna move over for him.
- 38:19'cause Ptri held his line.
- 38:21He didn't move to the left, he didn't pinch him off.
- 38:23He was in a position and he held that position and then he thought
- 38:26he was just gonna fit in half the size of a Formula One car.
- 38:30Maybe he thought he was gonna pull that.
- 38:31Uh, what that guy did, the NASCAR move where he just.
- 38:33Pinned it against the wall and just pinned it and went around.
- 38:35He figured you just slammed the wall and go, no, no.
- 38:37Like the cars movie where he bounces up and then he flips
- 38:41over and lands on the other side.
- 38:42Yeah, that would've been great.
- 38:43Yeah.
- 38:43There we go.
- 38:44Fantastic.
- 38:46James Bond stuff.
- 38:47Ugh.
- 38:48Canada was boring.
- 38:49Just like Monaco because it's too small.
- 38:51It's too tight.
- 38:52It's just one car width wide.
- 38:55I mean, it's just.
- 38:55Ugh.
- 38:56That's another one that, it's tradition.
- 38:58They run Canada.
- 38:58'cause they, they have to have a Grand Prix in Canada, I guess.
- 39:01Well I thought they were getting away from that track.
- 39:03I thought they were supposed to go, um, where to Mosport.
- 39:06I, I thought they were moving away from the island for that reason.
- 39:09'cause one going racing, two accessibility.
- 39:12'cause it's a nightmare in regards to Yes.
- 39:14There's only those two ways or one way to get on and off that island.
- 39:17Well, and you gotta get bused on.
- 39:18Yeah.
- 39:18You can't park there.
- 39:19There's no grandstands.
- 39:21Well there are grandstands.
- 39:22Stop saying that you saw them compared to Dakota.
- 39:25There's like no grandstands.
- 39:27There's like nothing.
- 39:28There might as well be three chairs and 10 people like
- 39:30playing, you know, musical chairs.
- 39:32Yeah.
- 39:32I always thought they were moving it to downtown or something like that.
- 39:35They're gonna do action.
- 39:35Oh, that'd be even worse.
- 39:36We went to Montreal a couple years ago.
- 39:38The streets downtown.
- 39:39Oh, they're horrendous.
- 39:40It might as well be Jeep Wranglers racing, not formula cars.
- 39:44Well, not even that, but Montreal is a very grid laid out, plus
- 39:48city courses are all terrible.
- 39:50Yeah, they're all awful.
- 39:51Look at Monaco.
- 39:52They should move it to Toronto and drive around the skydome parking lot.
- 39:56Oh, that's like what they're trying to do for indie car.
- 39:58Right.
- 39:58And down in Texas or whatever.
- 40:00Down in Dallas.
- 40:01Yeah, around the stadium.
- 40:01But then that ends up like Miami, right.
- 40:03And then you're like, that's horrible.
- 40:04Sucks too.
- 40:06Now I will say I have a newfound appreciation for Catalonia.
- 40:09That was actually a decent race.
- 40:10The Spanish Grand Prix was pretty good.
- 40:12The outcome was nothing short of to be expected.
- 40:15So I was like, all right, whatever.
- 40:16But again, Ferrari can't get outta their own way.
- 40:19Hey, that's the first race they podium.
- 40:21By luck.
- 40:22How many cars were, uh.
- 40:23Yeah.
- 40:24D nfd.
- 40:24Yeah.
- 40:25Disqualified.
- 40:25Exactly three.
- 40:26What were there?
- 40:27Were there 18 cars?
- 40:28Dnf and nothing's gonna change now for Ian season because no one's doing
- 40:32anything more with their cars this year.
- 40:33It's all going to 2026.
- 40:35There might be one or two changes here and they're very minimal, but, so nothing's
- 40:38really gonna change in the order.
- 40:39Pastor's gonna be world champion.
- 40:41The Spanish GP was exciting because we hadn't seen it for a while.
- 40:45We got to see Tappin's true colors once again.
- 40:47Oh, that was so good.
- 40:48Oh man, that was good.
- 40:50God.
- 40:50I wanted him to get somehow some ways, so he got that last point on his license
- 40:53so he could get banned for the next race.
- 40:55Get suspended.
- 40:56That'd been awesome.
- 40:57It's astonishing that at the very least he wasn't DQ from that race.
- 41:00Yeah.
- 41:01Collusion.
- 41:04I mean, he pretty much was on the radio saying, I'll show him.
- 41:08And then purposely tried to punt him off the track.
- 41:10I have said it before, you can take the racer out of the cart, but you can't
- 41:16take the cart racer out of the boy.
- 41:18He drives like a cart racer.
- 41:20No, that was not a cart racing move at all.
- 41:23That was a an aggressive, vindictive move.
- 41:26My racing move premeditated because he had all the space in the world not to do that.
- 41:32I agree with all of those things and that sends a bad message
- 41:35to people that are watching.
- 41:37So you think Red Bull will pay him a hundred million
- 41:39dollars next season to stay at?
- 41:40Only thing that would keep him there cash.
- 41:42Rumor is he wants to leave.
- 41:43Saw that too.
- 41:44But I, I don't know.
- 41:45Then there's rumors.
- 41:46He is gonna gonna go to Aston or he is gonna go to Mercedes
- 41:49or he is gonna go here.
- 41:50He is gonna go there.
- 41:51Really?
- 41:52I don't know is gonna go to Aston.
- 41:53'cause Adrian's there.
- 41:54That's the only reason.
- 41:55Is he gonna be the second driver to Lance who?
- 41:58Yeah.
- 41:59Who do you get rid of?
- 42:00Let's play this game.
- 42:01Who do you get rid of?
- 42:02Stroll or Alonzo?
- 42:04Who does Daddy Warbuck's fire?
- 42:05Well, Alonzo's 62 years old, so he needs to retire.
- 42:09But he's a better driver than Stroll.
- 42:11Well, but Lance can't go do tennis now 'cause of his wrist.
- 42:13So he is stuck.
- 42:14F1.
- 42:15Yeah.
- 42:15Oh, poor baby.
- 42:18And the, and the worst part is, and I've said this by watching the race Alonzo,
- 42:22they like give him a little taste of like being like at the front again
- 42:25and the excitement of the old days.
- 42:27And then it's like, Fernando get back in line and start toeing Lance around
- 42:33because that's what he's paid to do.
- 42:34He has Lance on his ass the whole time cutting through traffic
- 42:38and just toes lance around.
- 42:41That's what he's paid to do.
- 42:42I wouldn't want that job.
- 42:43And if I was for stopping, I wouldn't want that job either.
- 42:45Regardless of Adrian Newey.
- 42:47No.
- 42:48'cause that's what you're signing up to do is tow that guy around.
- 42:51If I was making the money that they're making, I would tow Lance
- 42:54Stroll wherever the fuck you wanted to go for his entire life.
- 42:57I don't even care.
- 42:59You want to toe to McDonald's?
- 43:01Let's go.
- 43:01Yeah.
- 43:02You wanna tow to Starbucks?
- 43:03You want me to tow you through the Starbucks?
- 43:05Drive through?
- 43:05Let's it No, no No's you, you wanna toe to Timmy's Tim Horton's.
- 43:08Oh yeah.
- 43:08You, you wanna tow to the Horton's?
- 43:09Yeah.
- 43:10Let's get it right.
- 43:11Let's get it right.
- 43:11Official sponsor of the F1 movie is KFC.
- 43:14You're gonna tow him to get some Kentucky Fried chicken.
- 43:16Oh, hell yeah.
- 43:17Can tow you the KFC.
- 43:19You seen those commercials?
- 43:20They're, I thought it was Taco Bell is okay.
- 43:21No, it's KFC.
- 43:22Well, it's the same company anyway.
- 43:24KFC, taco Bell, McDonald's, whatever.
- 43:25It's all, it's all Pepsi.
- 43:27Yeah.
- 43:27Yeah, exactly.
- 43:28Well, so speaking of the movie, is anyone here going to pay
- 43:31to go see it in the theater?
- 43:31They're gonna wait till it comes out on Apple.
- 43:33I have small children.
- 43:34I will not be paying to go see anything.
- 43:36Oh, coming out on Apple.
- 43:37Oh, that's right.
- 43:38Well, I don't have Apple.
- 43:39Well, you it.
- 43:39Yeah.
- 43:39So four weeks after it's released, it'll come out on Apple.
- 43:41It should be.
- 43:42Or six weeks.
- 43:42I'll get it on Voodoo.
- 43:43Yeah.
- 43:44I just canceled my Apple tv, so Yeah.
- 43:46I won't be watching it for another year.
- 43:48I mean, I think I have a gift card to a MC.
- 43:52God.
- 43:54God.
- 43:55Well, you're gonna do an episode about it if, if you go see it, I know you're
- 43:58gonna go see it, William, come on.
- 43:59Yeah, I'm gonna go see it.
- 44:00We got this great new theater that opened up that's got the
- 44:03reclining seats and everything.
- 44:04That, and tickets are only like $11 dirt cheap instead of like the 20 something.
- 44:07Yeah, it's, it's awesome.
- 44:08It's Phoenix Theaters new first one in this area, I guess, or something.
- 44:11Or they're starting, I don't know.
- 44:12But yes, $10 and 79 cents or something like that.
- 44:15That's not just Matt and Nate.
- 44:16That's like anytime.
- 44:17Wow.
- 44:18At night you can go.
- 44:19It's like me and my wife and daughter went the other night, saw movies.
- 44:21All three of us tickets were only 32 bucks for all three of us.
- 44:24Do you have to make your own popcorn in the back?
- 44:26Well, I mean, I was smuggling my own candy, of course.
- 44:28And my diet.
- 44:29Mountain Dews.
- 44:29Do you gotta stand there and run the reel?
- 44:32Yeah.
- 44:32Well it's good exercise.
- 44:35That's why is one arm's bigger than the other?
- 44:36Yeah.
- 44:37All you have to do is clean up and vacuum after the movie.
- 44:40That's, oh, there you go.
- 44:41Put on a vest and just clean up.
- 44:43You gotta sell concessions to the next movie, the, the next time slot too.
- 44:46Exactly.
- 44:47It's all give and take.
- 44:48Yeah.
- 44:50So Tanya, you mentioned to me the other day that there are proposed wing changes.
- 44:55That means that the Ferrari's are gonna be even slower.
- 44:57Is that right?
- 44:58They're just gonna remove four bolts.
- 44:59Yeah, there you go.
- 45:03That was a headline that was floating out there, but I think in the end
- 45:07it does all have to do with the crackdown on the front wing deflection.
- 45:11Ah, okay.
- 45:12But I think they ended up changing more of the front wing design as a result of that.
- 45:17And so I think it went into effect ahead of Canada.
- 45:20So I don't know that it necessarily negatively impacted 'em 'cause
- 45:23they were as slow as normal, so.
- 45:25They didn't get any slower.
- 45:26That's a plus, but that's a slow track too.
- 45:28But Clare didn't change anything from my understanding.
- 45:30They didn't change nothing.
- 45:31Everyone else had to change or they changed it.
- 45:33So then that's why they're trying to file protests or something like
- 45:35that and said, no, it's within line.
- 45:37I mean, I know who the biggest culprit was of that flexi wing, Adrian Newey.
- 45:41I'd love to see his, you know, his office and just seeing him go into town
- 45:44at the big drafting table, still using the mechanical pencil and everything.
- 45:48That'd be unbelievable to see.
- 45:49No, it's like that episode of the office where he walks in and he shuts the door
- 45:54and he closes the blinds and he sits down and he starts crying at his desk.
- 45:58That's what Adrian is doing at Aston right now.
- 46:00What I do, what I do, that's what he's doing.
- 46:15Well that wraps up our showcase devoted to Le Mans and Formula One with the
- 46:20undertone of Ferrari mixed in there.
- 46:22If we didn't talk about enough motor sports news, we need
- 46:25to go over the pit wall.
- 46:27Quickly add one more topic for our motor sports news this month, and this goes
- 46:31back to the Monaco GP weekend, Memorial Day Indy 500, Kyle Larson Double Fail.
- 46:39This is what I call the Joe Flacco syndrome.
- 46:42Do you remember number one elite quarterback in the world?
- 46:44Joe Flaco.
- 46:45He would like self-proclaimed Kyle Larson.
- 46:47Yes, I get that.
- 46:48He's a NASCAR champion.
- 46:49But the same thing, right?
- 46:50Like I'm, I can beat all those Formula one guy, I'm faster than max for stepin,
- 46:55blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 46:56All the other bs, you know, armchair quarterbacking that we all do as razors,
- 47:00but he crashes at Indy, gets on a plane, flies to Charlotte for the, whatever, the
- 47:05Coca-Cola 600 or wherever the heck it was.
- 47:07And then crashes there too, you know?
- 47:09But you're the best driver on the planet.
- 47:10I'd love to see him get in a formula car and show that he's
- 47:14better than Max for Stepin.
- 47:15Yes, he ain't never gonna do that.
- 47:17I'd love to see, for staffing, go do the Indy 500 and beat everybody.
- 47:23He'd be so bored, he'd be like, I've never driven longer than 75 laps.
- 47:27This is ridiculous.
- 47:28Get me out of here.
- 47:29That's it for Motors Sports News.
- 47:31But we are gonna rejoin the conversation next month with reports from Le Mans
- 47:35Classic, from the Hillsborough Concourses more F1 more of everything
- 47:40because July is an exciting month, so we look forward to more Motors
- 47:44sports news in the next drive through.
- 47:47And remember, folks that our Motor Sports News is brought to us in
- 47:49partnership with the International Motor Racing Research Center.
- 47:52Their sweepstakes is back in full swing, and as we've said before, it's
- 47:56your chance to win a 2025 Porsche nine 11 T with a six speed manual,
- 48:01or take a $75,000 cash option.
- 48:04Details on how you could enter to win that Porsche are@racingarchives.org,
- 48:08and then click on sweepstakes from the upper right corner.
- 48:16And so we should probably get back to our regularly scheduled granting and raving.
- 48:20And so, William, since you're here with us, normally we would jump into
- 48:23Volkswagen, added Porsche news, right?
- 48:25Because that's sort of our bias.
- 48:26I decided to switch things up temporarily and switch over to STIs because they
- 48:31are the parent company behind, you know, Fiat and Ferrari and all that fun stuff.
- 48:35There was a headline that came out that says, this is from Ferrari,
- 48:39and it reads, there is zero demand for the next Ferrari ev.
- 48:43And I was like, wait, there was a Ferrari ev.
- 48:45What was the first Ferrari ev?
- 48:47Well, first it was gonna be the derivative of the new 12 dolche
- 48:51salinity or whatever it was.
- 48:52They're gonna do that.
- 48:53But then they realized there's probably no uptake on it.
- 48:55So then they switched it over to the SUV, would've been the PO San way,
- 48:58but EV one, then they realize nobody wants to buy a fricking electric
- 49:02car, so they're like, forget it.
- 49:03They change it so many times to figure out what type of car they wanna put it in.
- 49:07And you see, you know, all the little secret prototype cars coming out.
- 49:11There's a great guy that's Varix, V-A-R-I-Y-X-X-I.
- 49:15I dunno, that just basically camps out every day outside Marine
- 49:18and just takes photos of stuff.
- 49:20There is so many different variations and everything, 'cause
- 49:23obviously you can hear it driving.
- 49:24No sound.
- 49:25They had multiple ones that they were just trying to go through, but I think
- 49:28they were thinking they were gonna be able to slide in where they, it would
- 49:31be the uptake would be because of what the car was, you know, A SUV, you know,
- 49:35not a sedan or coupe or what have you.
- 49:37So they kind of kept transitioning.
- 49:39Now they came to realization just as every other manufacturer in this world did.
- 49:43Nobody wants stinking electric cars.
- 49:45Hybrid is the answer though.
- 49:47Yes, it is.
- 49:47Well, speaking of electric cars and talking more about Stellantis last month,
- 49:51we've talked about yet again, Jeff Bezos.
- 49:54Quote unquote, Amazon coming to the table with the slate Ev, you know, the
- 49:58affordable pickup truck that you can do all this bolting on and make it look like
- 50:02a Bronco or make it look like a maverick.
- 50:04You can be a pickup or you can be an SUV, or you can be this, you can
- 50:07be that, you know, for the low, low bargain base price of $20,000 and
- 50:10you get rolled up windows and air in your tires and all that fun thing.
- 50:13Well, the CEO of Ram division of Solanis, you know, Dodge trucks used to be right.
- 50:18He came out and said there's absolutely no way that they can
- 50:22produce this truck for $20,000.
- 50:24That's a on paper vehicle when you actually go to go buy it.
- 50:28So here we go.
- 50:28Here's the bait and switch Tesla model.
- 50:30It's gonna end up being 30, $40,000 like everything else, because
- 50:33you're gonna want the options, and the options aren't gonna be cheap.
- 50:36They're not gonna give you the Bronco version of the same truck.
- 50:41For the same cost as the one without it, it's just, it's not gonna work.
- 50:44So he's calling them to carpet on the, you know, the bargain basement truck.
- 50:47And not only that, he comes out saying that this undercuts the rest of the
- 50:51truck market, which is where I have a problem, because now we have the
- 50:55pot calling the kettle black because big trucks are too damn expensive.
- 50:59What am I getting for a hundred thousand dollars from your ram?
- 51:03So we gotta sort of meet in the middle here on these trucks at some point.
- 51:07I like the fact, you know, going back to basics with that, in essence with
- 51:10the roll up windows, everything like that, there's no big screen or whatnot.
- 51:13Hey, you use your own phone or whatever and just ties all in together.
- 51:16Maybe it was when you buy, it's just a rolling chassis, you
- 51:19gotta put in your own engine.
- 51:21It's like the movie theater.
- 51:22You gotta make the popcorn in the back.
- 51:23Exactly.
- 51:24You know, I find it hilarious that we're talking about an electric vehicle.
- 51:28The power plant is driven by just one giant battery and it's
- 51:32gonna have roll up windows.
- 51:36Those are extra electrons.
- 51:38That is just.
- 51:39Completely absurd.
- 51:41Just throw some Duro cells in there.
- 51:43Who cares?
- 51:43There we go.
- 51:44No, it's like red green show.
- 51:46Remember when he had the cordless drill and he made the manual windows
- 51:49go up and down with his drill?
- 51:51That's how he made power windows.
- 51:52The same thing.
- 51:52Just put a half inch chuck in there and just, they just power
- 51:56it with the Ryobi 18 volt.
- 51:59Done.
- 51:59Yeah, take a couple of those in there.
- 52:01All your peripherals.
- 52:02Just throw a couple, a couple hundred of those in there each,
- 52:04and just take them out as they die.
- 52:06When's that thing supposed to be available?
- 52:08Are they even taking deposits?
- 52:10Are they taking a hundred dollars deposits yet the third Saturday of never.
- 52:13That's when it's coming out.
- 52:14Obviously he needs some sort of tax benefit for all his money, so he just
- 52:18dump it into that as a nice writeoff.
- 52:20What comes out first?
- 52:21The slate?
- 52:22The scout or the Tesla Roadster.
- 52:24Oh, damn.
- 52:27Why you gotta do that to me?
- 52:28Or the DeLorean?
- 52:29It's gotta be the slate.
- 52:30He's the most liquid, cash wise.
- 52:31Yeah.
- 52:32The other ones are all pipe dreams.
- 52:33Tesla's going down this crapper.
- 52:35You know Mr. Numb nuts.
- 52:37And you remember at Monty Python and the people rejoice a Yeah.
- 52:42Talk about way to sink your own company.
- 52:44Just start doing what that moron did.
- 52:46Well, what is it that Elon said when the cyber truck finally rolled out?
- 52:49We signed our own death certificate or something like that.
- 52:52It's the best vehicle ever.
- 52:55Yeah.
- 52:55Yeah.
- 52:55With the salute.
- 52:56Yeah.
- 52:58Oh my God.
- 52:59All right.
- 52:59Well, in Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche land, I. And there's
- 53:03been some shuffling of the deck.
- 53:04There has been for the last couple of years.
- 53:06It all started, in my opinion, when they fired the guy who designed the
- 53:10ID buzz and all the new retro cars that they were coming out with.
- 53:14It's all just been this round robin of CEOs and design chiefs and this and that.
- 53:19And we know Volkswagen just putting out stuff that nobody wants.
- 53:23But unfortunately this has become systemic and now this.
- 53:26Plague that has infested Volkswagen is finding its way over to Audi and
- 53:30they released what their new design language is gonna look like for the next
- 53:34generation Audis, which are coming out basically later this year into next year.
- 53:38And, oh God, it's ugly.
- 53:41This is the ugliest passat I've ever seen.
- 53:44And I think you said on Discord.
- 53:45Why did they bolt the GTI front end to the Audi?
- 53:49It was more like F they did that.
- 53:51It's really bad.
- 53:52And if this is what the new Audis are gonna look like, you're really
- 53:55gonna have a hard time telling them.
- 53:57Apart from the Lexi and the new BMWs and everything else that's on the road,
- 54:01they just look like anything else.
- 54:03And in profile, this particular car looks a lot like the old Passade.
- 54:07Oof, no thank you.
- 54:08Even the hood, the shape, it's a little bit flatter than the new golf.
- 54:12But the new golf, they made it very, almost more beetle like.
- 54:17And that's not a good thing actually for these either of these cars.
- 54:21I don't know.
- 54:21It's disappointing.
- 54:22I definitely, and the reason I bring this up is Audi is selling, or has sold by this
- 54:28point etal design, so put it all together.
- 54:31They're getting rid of one of the most famous Italian design
- 54:34houses of the modern era.
- 54:36And this is what they've come up with because they weren't happy with maybe
- 54:40whatever retail design was coming up with.
- 54:41You guys are making the biggest mistake of your lives.
- 54:44I guess this is the Bengal period for Audi.
- 54:46That's what's coming, but we'll see.
- 54:47I could be proven wrong.
- 54:48It's been known to happen.
- 54:50Yes.
- 54:50So whoa, whoa.
- 54:51What is this?
- 54:52Do I see some Swedish meatballs on the list?
- 54:54We have some Volvo news, which we don't normally have ever.
- 54:58Now.
- 54:59This is less about a new car coming out and more about a new
- 55:04technology and I don't know what is this that I feel good about it.
- 55:10So Volvo obviously has a long history and a long reputation for safety, right?
- 55:15They were the first to invent, I believe, the three point safety
- 55:18belt, four cars back in the day.
- 55:22Now they've come up with a new innovation to the seatbelt, and it very much worries
- 55:28me when the words over the air updates and if my seatbelt ooh, are used in
- 55:34the same sentence, Ooh, that's bad.
- 55:37That makes me really uncomfortable.
- 55:39So we can just start there.
- 55:41That's where this is going.
- 55:42So apparently they're introducing a new seatbelt design.
- 55:45That essentially is completely sensor based to the level that it's going to
- 55:51detect your height, your weight, your body shape, how you're sitting in your seat.
- 55:57It's going to take that day, aggregate it, do whatever, and it's going to optimize
- 56:02the tension, the load of the belt for you.
- 56:06What you invented the seatbelt like 60 years ago or more.
- 56:12It's worked pretty well.
- 56:15I mean, granted, depending on the accident, there's some things you can't
- 56:19survive, but for the most part, the three point belt with the design of the seats
- 56:23and how they crumple, everything works.
- 56:24Safety as a system and as you can learn about in other previous
- 56:27podcasts, it all works together.
- 56:29This is an overdesigning solving a problem that doesn't exist.
- 56:35I have a couple points.
- 56:36Oh, one to Tanya's point, it's a cash grab.
- 56:39They can't make money on the old seatbelt design, and they can't
- 56:42sell cars because they suck.
- 56:44So they're looking for a cash grab to try and revolutionize the, the wheel.
- 56:48They're trying to remake the wheel.
- 56:50Also, looking at the exploded view of the parts and everything.
- 56:53This thing has more parts than my tundra motor.
- 56:58And at what point are they going to send this information about your seatbelt
- 57:04and if you're wearing it properly, to the authorities Uhhuh, where they can
- 57:07send you an an over-the-air ticket.
- 57:09Yep.
- 57:09For not having your seatbelt properly secured or link it to your insurance.
- 57:15Yeah.
- 57:15And then you, yeah.
- 57:16Again, oh, you weren't wearing your seatbelt for 35 milliseconds
- 57:20on February 4th, 2028.
- 57:23You know, you get a $50 fine and we're gonna drop your insurance,
- 57:26and they're opening themselves up to data privacy because now it's
- 57:29recording your personal information that's going to be stored somewhere.
- 57:34Let's say that's hackable by someone.
- 57:36I don't know.
- 57:37It's the modern world.
- 57:38We're in the internet of things.
- 57:39I have a bigger question to ask.
- 57:41How much does this seatbelt contraption weigh?
- 57:43A lot.
- 57:44I'd imagine there's a lot of moving parts on this.
- 57:47It looks like a transmission.
- 57:49It looks like these are gears.
- 57:50Imagine one of those parts fails.
- 57:53It is ridiculous.
- 57:54One of these little components fails and then what?
- 57:56Your seatbelt doesn't work properly and then you die.
- 57:58Do you have to take the car in for seatbelt maintenance now?
- 58:00Like, is that gonna be part of your dealership plan?
- 58:03How much is this gonna cost?
- 58:04Is there like an oil change on your seatbelt?
- 58:06You gotta keep those parts lubricated.
- 58:08We used to make fun of muffler bearings.
- 58:10Those are a real thing.
- 58:11If you have a baffled exhaust, there's bearings in the exhaust.
- 58:14There might be a lot of bearings in this seatbelt assembly.
- 58:16They're, they're gonna release it on December 31st, 2025, and
- 58:20they're gonna have the first mass recall on January 1st, 2026.
- 58:24Geez Louise.
- 58:25This is ridiculous.
- 58:26Switching gears and talking about domestic cars.
- 58:29Some sad news.
- 58:31This is specifically with Ford, but hot hatches are officially dead at Ford.
- 58:37Wait, they're officially dead now and not like already 10 years ago.
- 58:41No, no.
- 58:41The final hot hatch was built at Ford.
- 58:44That's it.
- 58:45Uh, Ford, America or Ford.
- 58:48Globally, there are no more hot hatches.
- 58:51Period.
- 58:51So after 45 years of hot hatches at Ford.
- 58:55So Ford is exiting the European market.
- 58:58That's what I'm reading between the lines.
- 59:01Yes.
- 59:01So no more Ka none done.
- 59:04No more hatchbacks.
- 59:05Okay, cool.
- 59:06Bold plan cotton.
- 59:08Yeah.
- 59:08We'll see how this plays out for you.
- 59:09That's a shame because b spect cars like the Fiesta are hot.
- 59:13They're in demand.
- 59:14People like them.
- 59:15They want them.
- 59:15And then, you know, slightly bigger the focus.
- 59:17Stuff like that.
- 59:18But yeah, no, they're done.
- 59:19They're out.
- 59:20Are they still running Fords in Rally?
- 59:23And what does this do to the rally teams?
- 59:24Yeah, so they're running the Puma in Rally, which is a hatchback as well.
- 59:28It's slightly bigger than even the focus.
- 59:30A little lower, a little longer, but still a hatchback, you know, in that design.
- 59:33But yeah, the Puma's gone too.
- 59:34So I'm curious what Ford's gonna run in WRC if they don't kind of keep
- 59:39the puma going along for a little while, but maybe they're gonna
- 59:42pull out, they're gonna run a mki.
- 59:44Yeah.
- 59:44Okay.
- 59:45Well, they have their new super duper EV card that they're building to take
- 59:50on Volkswagen's Pike's Peak record.
- 59:52Good luck chasing the IDR up the mountain.
- 59:54That was a hell of a run.
- 59:55But Ford is trying on all fronts because the Mustang GTD just set its quote
- 1:00:01unquote lightning lap at the Berg ring.
- 1:00:04And I said to myself, does this even matter anymore with the change
- 1:00:07in the automotive landscape and EVs and all that kinda stuff?
- 1:00:10I don't know.
- 1:00:10An ev, they can do a lightning lap at the ring.
- 1:00:13'cause the ring's so long.
- 1:00:14I guess they've done it in ez, but they get like one lap right?
- 1:00:16Or two at maximum.
- 1:00:18And I guess the take hand would be the only other one, but.
- 1:00:20Is it really important anymore that a Mustang can do A fast lap at the ring?
- 1:00:25How many spectators did it hit around the track?
- 1:00:28What?
- 1:00:28A bit a lap time's not Yeah.
- 1:00:30How many spectators did it hit at the track?
- 1:00:32Oh my God.
- 1:00:33Yeah.
- 1:00:33So I mean, good for Ford.
- 1:00:35They're trying and the Mustang competed at Le Mans another car that didn't really
- 1:00:39get a lot of airtime over the weekend.
- 1:00:41So actually sort of forgot.
- 1:00:42I was like, oh yeah, there's Mustangs running in GTLM or GT three rather.
- 1:00:45But anyway, good for Ford.
- 1:00:47Get rid of the hot hatchbacks.
- 1:00:48Focus on the Mustang if that's where you think your market is and sell trucks.
- 1:00:52Boom.
- 1:00:52Done.
- 1:00:53So switching to Asian domestic news, I'm just gonna read this headline.
- 1:00:57Nissan's new budget sedan was just leaked online.
- 1:01:01Uh,
- 1:01:04a new Altima design.
- 1:01:05What?
- 1:01:06Right.
- 1:01:06They don't make anything else.
- 1:01:08Exactly.
- 1:01:08So I guess there's a new Altima coming.
- 1:01:10What is this rendering?
- 1:01:11What is this trash?
- 1:01:12This is what Nissan can afford right now.
- 1:01:14Okay.
- 1:01:15Oh my God's that bad.
- 1:01:16It's really bad.
- 1:01:17It.
- 1:01:17Looks like a Tesla or a Lucid or something.
- 1:01:20It's awful.
- 1:01:21We all are copying each other so as per use, so it'll look like the new Audi, so
- 1:01:26we won't be able to tell the difference.
- 1:01:27I read that headline completely different.
- 1:01:29I read it as the, it just leaked online, meaning like there needs to be a cleanup
- 1:01:34of someone's oil all over the internet.
- 1:01:39Toyota's doing some math.
- 1:01:40How about this?
- 1:01:419 million EVs are just as polluting as 27 million hybrids.
- 1:01:46I'd like to see their lifecycle analysis.
- 1:01:49This is the Jeremy Clarkson lifecycle analysis.
- 1:01:51Remember that thing you did on top gear where he showed like where the batteries
- 1:01:54for a Prius came from and like the strip mining and this and that, and then it gets
- 1:01:58transported here, and then it gets put on a ship and by the time it's done Yeah,
- 1:02:01it goes around the world three times.
- 1:02:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:03And then when the car is finally destroyed or whatever, where it all
- 1:02:06goes, that is a true lifecycle analysis.
- 1:02:09It is called cradle to grave.
- 1:02:11That means from the very beginning inception of where all the parts come.
- 1:02:15Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:16All the way to where all the parts go, when the thing is no longer.
- 1:02:19Functioning anymore.
- 1:02:20A lot of people choose to draw the box that they say their lifecycle
- 1:02:25is around a different part of that whole manufacturing chain, and that's
- 1:02:30where the math can get kind of funny.
- 1:02:32And that's where statistics and numbers and all that kind of stuff, you can
- 1:02:35play around and have the data say what you want it to say if you don't know
- 1:02:39what the fine print of the data is.
- 1:02:40So I don't know what the basis of this is.
- 1:02:44I mean, if he's basing it on the fact that those 9 million EVs, they're
- 1:02:47getting their materials by colonizing Mars, then yes, obviously the Prius's
- 1:02:52are better for the environment.
- 1:02:55I mean, it goes back to the argument that some people have made from the onset of
- 1:02:58the EVs, that the actual manufacturer of them is the polluting part.
- 1:03:02Though there is data that I have seen, it comes down to what your
- 1:03:09manufacturing process is, right?
- 1:03:10It's, it's not as simple as just saying, oh, I made an EV and it's super polluting
- 1:03:14and horrible, and the manufacturing process was worse than, you know, the oil
- 1:03:18refining and a gas car and all this stuff.
- 1:03:20Because if you had.
- 1:03:22Renewable as your energy source for making the car.
- 1:03:25Then suddenly that's a whole other can of worms.
- 1:03:28But then you could argue, well, if I had renewable for when I made the regular gas
- 1:03:32car, that's a whole other can of worms.
- 1:03:34But you still got the oil refining part of there, which is a problem.
- 1:03:37Right?
- 1:03:37So it's a very dynamic situation really, and nobody ever actually
- 1:03:42explains or shows where the data comes from and what's behind these claims,
- 1:03:46other than they're very sensational.
- 1:03:48Yeah, I mean that's very stark to say, nine verse 27.
- 1:03:51I'd sort of like my math from earlier.
- 1:03:53Any rate, slight public service announcements.
- 1:03:56If you are a Mazda owner, there is a recall underway for all Mazda threes and
- 1:04:02CX thirties because apparently we'd never learned our lesson about Tata airbags.
- 1:04:07So that's really all I need to say about that.
- 1:04:09Well, they got 'em at a discount.
- 1:04:10Fire sale.
- 1:04:12You notice they're in the cheap Mazdas?
- 1:04:14Yeah.
- 1:04:15Yeah.
- 1:04:15Not the CX 90 or or whatever.
- 1:04:18Not the more expensive ones.
- 1:04:19The cheap ones the budget friendly.
- 1:04:21Well, speaking of budget friendly Brad, it's time we go and look under
- 1:04:25Lost and found your favorite section of the drive through where we call
- 1:04:29up Chuck La Duck and Gray Chevrolet and see what they have on the lot.
- 1:04:32And I found something that screams.
- 1:04:34Your next purchase knowing you sold your R 32.
- 1:04:38Got a little cash in your pocket.
- 1:04:39You should pick up this Oldsmobile Bravada pickup truck bra.
- 1:04:44Nada.
- 1:04:47This thing is terrible.
- 1:04:50I love the license plate cut in half.
- 1:04:56Can I ask a serious question?
- 1:04:58Sure.
- 1:04:58Did Daniel do this?
- 1:04:59That's what I was thinking too, because this looks like
- 1:05:01something Daniel would've done.
- 1:05:02Right.
- 1:05:03I got old GMC.
- 1:05:04Jimmy, I'm won't cut it.
- 1:05:06No, this is a bad idea from the word go Next up is gonna be that mercury
- 1:05:11wagon he's got up there at the mountain.
- 1:05:13He's gonna cut it up into one of these.
- 1:05:15This is the question I always seem to be asking myself.
- 1:05:18What compels people to do this?
- 1:05:21Because you probably could have bought a flatbed pickup that he's trying to
- 1:05:26achieve with this at like a government auction for like next to nothing.
- 1:05:30And yet how much time, effort, labor built, not bought.
- 1:05:34Hold my beard.
- 1:05:34Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:05:36Wait, we're not gonna talk about the teeth on the front of it.
- 1:05:38What is that about?
- 1:05:39That's, that makes it look tough.
- 1:05:41It's gonna eat you up.
- 1:05:42It's gonna cut you in half with those teeth.
- 1:05:45It's the truck's bravado.
- 1:05:46Ooh.
- 1:05:47Oh that's bad.
- 1:05:50That joke was cut in half.
- 1:05:51And then, wait, hold on.
- 1:05:52Okay, wait, wait.
- 1:05:54So we do all this work Uhhuh, we chop this MF up.
- 1:05:57We put the fangs and the, the vampire teeth on it, Uhhuh, and then we leave it
- 1:06:02this nasty Oldsmobile brown color in the catalog that's listed as diarrhea brown.
- 1:06:08Okay.
- 1:06:08Not only that, you've done all this work to make it a flatbed pickup truck.
- 1:06:12Looks like something super industrial.
- 1:06:14It can tow as much as those Cushman carts that we talked about on the last episode.
- 1:06:19Like what's the payload on this thing?
- 1:06:20Like 500 pounds.
- 1:06:21It can't tow anything.
- 1:06:22You can't do anything with it.
- 1:06:23So what's the point?
- 1:06:24You can't even put mulch on there.
- 1:06:26No, it'll slide off.
- 1:06:27It would fly out.
- 1:06:28But you can weld an engine crane to the back of it though.
- 1:06:30And then it becomes like a little tow truck.
- 1:06:32Are you trying to do those golf carts from the last time?
- 1:06:34So moving on.
- 1:06:35Lost and found.
- 1:06:36Well, guess what?
- 1:06:36If one of your bucket list cars is a quote unquote Eleanor Mustang
- 1:06:41from the New Gone in 60 Seconds.
- 1:06:43'cause you know, we always have to differentiate between the original
- 1:06:46gone in 60 seconds, the Mach one Mustang that they had in that versus,
- 1:06:50you know, the 66 Shelby GT 500 that they used in the Nicholas Cage movie.
- 1:06:55If you've always wanted one of those, and you probably know the story about how
- 1:06:59there's been lawsuits and lawsuits about making Eleanor replicas and copyrights
- 1:07:03and this and that, well guess what?
- 1:07:05Court has now.
- 1:07:07Overturned all the appeals and replicas of the 66 Shelby GT 500 Eleanor are
- 1:07:13legal at least for the time being until the next round of lawsuits.
- 1:07:17So if you wanna build one, now's the time to do it.
- 1:07:19You are not gonna get in trouble for doing it.
- 1:07:21That's exciting.
- 1:07:22They're gorgeous.
- 1:07:23So stupid.
- 1:07:24I know, right?
- 1:07:25William knows all about that on the Porsche side of the house,
- 1:07:27what you can and can't do.
- 1:07:28And call.
- 1:07:29And can't call.
- 1:07:29Right.
- 1:07:30That's why Singer can't use Porsche in their name.
- 1:07:32Right.
- 1:07:32Singer Design.
- 1:07:33Yeah.
- 1:07:33If you ever go to the bottom of singer page, look how many times
- 1:07:35they state they're not affiliated.
- 1:07:38All this stuff.
- 1:07:39Porsche don't like that at all.
- 1:07:41That's kinda surprising though with this.
- 1:07:42It's a very Ferrari thing to do.
- 1:07:44Yeah.
- 1:07:45Ferrari just doesn't allow you to modify anything.
- 1:07:47That's a no-no.
- 1:07:48That's verboten.
- 1:07:49Speaking of William, did you see that new Baby Blue F 40 that was redone that
- 1:07:54was restored and they repainted it?
- 1:07:55Yeah, it looks really cool.
- 1:07:58Like really good.
- 1:07:59Oh yeah.
- 1:07:59I dunno if you watch on YouTube, watch the guy from Stance Works.
- 1:08:02You ever see that guy?
- 1:08:03Yeah.
- 1:08:03Yeah.
- 1:08:03He's doing that.
- 1:08:04Building a tube frame, everything forties.
- 1:08:06He's got the, I I, I'm excited to see how that thing turns out.
- 1:08:09I think he's gonna do a nice job.
- 1:08:10I, I think it's gonna turn out sweet.
- 1:08:12You know when you get one up there.
- 1:08:13I mean, have some fun with it.
- 1:08:14Yeah.
- 1:08:14But yeah, the baby blue thing is beautiful.
- 1:08:16Those things look great in other colors, that's for sure.
- 1:08:18Yeah.
- 1:08:18Not just red or black.
- 1:08:20Not just red or black, although they look damn good.
- 1:08:22Black.
- 1:08:22But anyway, this next one, Tanya, this came across my desk.
- 1:08:27Before it came across yours.
- 1:08:28I was actually hiding this up my sleeve.
- 1:08:30And then you posted on a Discord and I was like, no.
- 1:08:32She must have a Google filter looking for totally rad things like replacement
- 1:08:37headsets for a car from 1985.
- 1:08:39And Pioneer has answered your prayers, oh man, I gotta want that so bad.
- 1:08:44But it's not sold here.
- 1:08:46That's so shortsighted and so stupid.
- 1:08:48There are some other, like Blau Punk actually does make something
- 1:08:53that you can, I believe buy here.
- 1:08:54So might have to think about these kind of things in the future.
- 1:08:58So if you've got an older car or you don't really have any options, it's singled in,
- 1:09:03it's a tape deck, like what do you do?
- 1:09:05And you don't have the dash space to go put something different in and you just
- 1:09:10want a more modern looking tape deck that still has a cassette and you need
- 1:09:14your cassette adapter and all this stuff.
- 1:09:15Like what?
- 1:09:16But these Pioneer and also BLO punk, they've actually made calling it the
- 1:09:21retro head unit and it legit looks like very clean, not kind of, you know, back
- 1:09:27in the day they had all the, the gaudy single in unit and you could take the
- 1:09:31face plate off because it was the hotness to, you know, have your radio stolen or
- 1:09:35whatever so you could remove the face.
- 1:09:37And it had all the bright neon colors and all the buttons and all that stuff.
- 1:09:41These are very clean, like almost factory.
- 1:09:44Style radios period appropriate, and the cassette is there except it's
- 1:09:50a flap and when you open it, it's got USB Ox in Come with Bluetooth.
- 1:09:55It's awesome if you wanna keep your car looking period appropriate, but also have
- 1:09:59modern radio technology not running around with the wires in the carcass set adapter.
- 1:10:04Try and use one of those other air over FM transmitters.
- 1:10:08It never really works very well, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:10:10$500. I think the pioneer one is something like that, or 500 Euros,
- 1:10:14which is pretty expensive, but.
- 1:10:16If you got kind of a, I don't wanna say collector car, but a car from back
- 1:10:20in the, the eighties or early nineties even, that you really care about it, it
- 1:10:24could be worth spending the money on.
- 1:10:25And also a lot of those radios from back then tended to basically die.
- 1:10:30Yeah.
- 1:10:31Especially the cassette adapters.
- 1:10:32The cassette portion of them would sometimes break down.
- 1:10:34You'd get your cassette stuck or they would just stop really working.
- 1:10:37And what and what do you do?
- 1:10:39And even the technology of the, the radios themselves,
- 1:10:41the receivers aren't very good.
- 1:10:43And you'd struggle to get local broadcast channels.
- 1:10:45So something like this, more modern in your old car is really pretty cool.
- 1:10:49So you're gonna get one once.
- 1:10:50You can get one is what?
- 1:10:51Once I can get one.
- 1:10:52It would look great in the Audi.
- 1:10:54Yeah, it would.
- 1:10:55And that Blo Punk especially looks factory.
- 1:10:57The Pioneer looks a little chintzy, but the Blo punk's nice too.
- 1:11:00It's got SD card reader and a bunch of other features that the Pioneer doesn't.
- 1:11:03So I approve this message.
- 1:11:05This is good.
- 1:11:05Good stuff.
- 1:11:06Good.
- 1:11:06Find, make sure you add it to the Christmas.
- 1:11:08Yeah.
- 1:11:09Christmas Special Man.
- 1:11:102025 is the year that keeps on giving to our uncool wall.
- 1:11:15This one came across my desk literally today.
- 1:11:18Wow.
- 1:11:19I don't even know what to say about this car.
- 1:11:21What did, what did it say?
- 1:11:22What is, it was something about the sound this makes or something
- 1:11:25and or the sound you hear.
- 1:11:26What was that?
- 1:11:27That was written with it?
- 1:11:28Because the sound I heard was, oh, I said suddenly heard the Inspector Gadget
- 1:11:32theme song playing when I see this.
- 1:11:34Oh yeah, no, I suddenly heard that.
- 1:11:35Sound of somebody w retching.
- 1:11:37This is horrendous.
- 1:11:39And then I thought about William and I was like, wasn't there a Ferrari?
- 1:11:43They called the bread van?
- 1:11:44Was it?
- 1:11:45It was like a Ferrari two 50 short wheel base or something.
- 1:11:47Yes, it was built by Count Volpi or whatever.
- 1:11:51'cause he was pissed off 'cause Enzo wouldn't sell him a two 50 GTO.
- 1:11:54So he wanted to have something that was basically the same thing.
- 1:11:56So had biz design and build it to annoy him.
- 1:11:59That's why I made it a station wagon, bread van.
- 1:12:01Everyone called it Bread van to piss off Enzo.
- 1:12:03And that thing was fast man.
- 1:12:04I think it went and competed with him was good, but it basically
- 1:12:07was an FU to Enzo is what he did.
- 1:12:09'cause he wouldn't sell a GTO.
- 1:12:11It sounds like there's a theme there.
- 1:12:12A lot of people are doing an FU days.
- 1:12:15Yeah.
- 1:12:16I mean this car is an FU to everybody.
- 1:12:19I understand that the R 33 is not necessarily the GTR that everybody wants,
- 1:12:24but to go spend the money to do this.
- 1:12:28Hmm.
- 1:12:28It looks like a truck cap on it.
- 1:12:29It's wild.
- 1:12:31Did you guys notice the placement of the sunroof?
- 1:12:33Who does that benefit?
- 1:12:34Not even above the back seats.
- 1:12:36I was like, why is it all the way back there?
- 1:12:38Like, what is this?
- 1:12:40Maybe this is a really good Photoshop.
- 1:12:42Really good Photoshop, but I have a feeling this is California hot rotting.
- 1:12:47If you think about it, if they just grafted that on, so that's all new.
- 1:12:52Where that sunroof is like from the line of the roof line back would be new.
- 1:12:57So anything they didn't change, they didn't wanna cut into
- 1:13:00the roof of the car itself.
- 1:13:01The original, they just grafted that on.
- 1:13:03Maybe that's awful.
- 1:13:05And that rear window, the molding too, is like three inches thick.
- 1:13:08It looks like a porthole on a ship.
- 1:13:10It's awful.
- 1:13:11But anyway, we'll leave it up to the audience to decide.
- 1:13:13I, I am constantly surprised when I log onto the uncool wall and
- 1:13:17see all the votes and see how stuff shifts from month to month.
- 1:13:20Like there are cars now that are, people are judging as you know,
- 1:13:23these are actually kind of cool.
- 1:13:24And I'm like, I would've never picked that for the life of me.
- 1:13:26Like these would've been the bottom of the barrel.
- 1:13:28Now the classics are always at the top of the list, right?
- 1:13:31The Aztec and the HHR and the PT Cruiser and.
- 1:13:34All the usual suspects, but this one I had to add it to the list.
- 1:13:38If you wanna check out what we're talking about, go to gt motorsports.org,
- 1:13:41click on podcast, and then uncool wall, and you can go vote on
- 1:13:45over 60 cars on our uncool wall.
- 1:13:48All right.
- 1:13:48We don't have any Tesla news, but we do have what Brad has, retitled seriously.
- 1:13:53What could go wrong?
- 1:13:55And Brad, I need you to share this story with the audience because
- 1:13:59I heard you got into a fight.
- 1:14:01Yeah.
- 1:14:01You should see the other, the other mammal.
- 1:14:03I heard it was an animal.
- 1:14:05You should see the other mammal.
- 1:14:09Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:14:10So wait, wait, wait.
- 1:14:11Is this a dashboard confessional?
- 1:14:15My family was walking home from the neighbor's house after
- 1:14:19dinner minding our own business, just walking through the yard.
- 1:14:22And this Mike Tyson deer came up and was like, gimme your lunch money.
- 1:14:28And we were like, nah, fool.
- 1:14:30And then it just started attacking my kids and my wife, and she jumped
- 1:14:35on top of the kids to protect them.
- 1:14:37It tried to trample on her.
- 1:14:39So I literally.
- 1:14:40Hulked it.
- 1:14:41I went over, I picked it up like literally lifted this 150 pound deer
- 1:14:45and threw it, and it kept coming back.
- 1:14:48So I'm like punching it.
- 1:14:49I've got my arms around its neck.
- 1:14:50At some point, I mentally decide that I'm going to kill
- 1:14:54this deer with my bare hands.
- 1:14:56Hulk smash you.
- 1:14:59I mean, you're, you're laughing and you, you joke in the moment.
- 1:15:02I mean this, it was life or death and it, it was not going to be my death.
- 1:15:06I, I let it go, was able to scare it off a little bit to get the family
- 1:15:10inside, but it kept coming back.
- 1:15:12Wow.
- 1:15:12And I was in my neighbor's yard.
- 1:15:14I could not find a usable stick as a weapon because he's very
- 1:15:18good at grooming his yard.
- 1:15:20I eventually found something and my neighbor drove, you know,
- 1:15:23the family back to the house.
- 1:15:25I walked across the street to make sure that I could have eyes
- 1:15:27on the deer, but it tracked me all the way back to my, my door.
- 1:15:31Eventually I got it to just run off and ran around the neighbor's house.
- 1:15:35Fast forward, it's terrorizing another family down the street now.
- 1:15:40Dang.
- 1:15:40And I don't know if anybody follows me on Instagram.
- 1:15:43I think I've got like two followers.
- 1:15:44But I posted a picture of like my baseball bat that I've had for like 20 plus years.
- 1:15:49Basically I walk to and from my office, 'cause my office is in my detached garage.
- 1:15:53I walked to and from my office with the bat.
- 1:15:55Wow.
- 1:15:56There's the story.
- 1:15:57And it's a female deer, right?
- 1:15:59Yes.
- 1:15:59It's a doe, a deer.
- 1:16:01A female deer.
- 1:16:03It's not like those shows on National Geographic when deers
- 1:16:06attack, you know, it's usually like some other large predator.
- 1:16:10Is it the color of your car that like pissed off this deer?
- 1:16:14No.
- 1:16:16So the theory 'cause animal control came out and did absolutely nothing.
- 1:16:20Thank you so much Chesterfield Animal Control for wasting my tax dollars
- 1:16:25on your fuel to come out and tell us, oh yeah, deer attack Uhhuh.
- 1:16:28Keep an eye on it.
- 1:16:30The theory is that it was protecting a fawn.
- 1:16:33Ah, it sensed that my oldest son, who was in front of us all was a threat.
- 1:16:39And because, you know, he was, you know, little or whatever, dude went after him.
- 1:16:43But then my wife and I jumped in and it was very interesting in that
- 1:16:48situation to see our reactions.
- 1:16:51'cause as I think back on it.
- 1:16:53We both did something completely different, but it just kind of worked.
- 1:16:57Like she went in full on, protect the kids mode.
- 1:17:00I went in full on, I'm gonna kill this thing, and it just, it worked.
- 1:17:04I don't know what would've happened if it was, it had been a male deer.
- 1:17:06I don't know what would've happened if it was just me and
- 1:17:09the kids, or her and the kids.
- 1:17:10I mean, thankfully, we don't have to know, find that out in this situation.
- 1:17:13It was very scary for one, if it was just you and the kids, I envisioned you
- 1:17:18grabbing them, basically the scruffs of their necks and just running.
- 1:17:22Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:23Put one under each arm and your haul ass outta there.
- 1:17:27I would like to think that too.
- 1:17:29But I also think that I might've still just tried to go after the deer and
- 1:17:33I would've yelled for the kids to go back to the house, but I still probably
- 1:17:38would've done everything I could to go for the deer or put myself between
- 1:17:42the, you know, the deer and the kids.
- 1:17:43What's it like to punch a deer?
- 1:17:45Um, well.
- 1:17:46I've got a broken finger.
- 1:17:48Oh no.
- 1:17:49Which I did not feel at all.
- 1:17:51Like I didn't realize it was broken till afterwards.
- 1:17:54Got all that adrenaline, literally trying to wrestle, listening
- 1:17:57to the ground to choke it.
- 1:17:59I'm gonna choke it out, you know?
- 1:18:00No, no Tapout this time, man.
- 1:18:02That's your shift in hand too.
- 1:18:04No cameras or video of this anywhere.
- 1:18:06Neighbors.
- 1:18:07Someone absolutely there.
- 1:18:08There are eyewitnesses.
- 1:18:10No, no cameras or anything.
- 1:18:11Nobody got pictures.
- 1:18:12It's circulating on America's Funniest Home video.
- 1:18:14So he's doing like he's doing this.
- 1:18:23It's cat slaps.
- 1:18:24Yeah.
- 1:18:24And I am not a small man.
- 1:18:28I'm larger than probably 90% of the, the world's male population.
- 1:18:33So the fact that I was struggling with this, I mean, I can't
- 1:18:37imagine if it was, I mean.
- 1:18:38It's 150 pound deer, but it's like 150 pounds.
- 1:18:41Solid Muscle.
- 1:18:42Muscle.
- 1:18:43Yeah.
- 1:18:43Yeah.
- 1:18:43One track mind.
- 1:18:45It's like no reasoning, just,
- 1:18:49is that the sound it made?
- 1:18:50Yeah.
- 1:18:51It didn't make any sounds.
- 1:18:53Is there frosting around its mouth too?
- 1:18:55I mean, what's going on here?
- 1:18:56We joke, like since we've moved down here.
- 1:18:58We've had roaches, we've had bats, we've had mice, we've had chipmunks,
- 1:19:04we've had deer now and we've had snakes.
- 1:19:06So nice.
- 1:19:07And I live in a suburban neighborhood, like 15 minutes outside of Richmond,
- 1:19:14the more you know, no, it is a public service announcement for folks, right?
- 1:19:17Because there are more deer now because less people are hunting.
- 1:19:20And I am not advocating for anything one way or the other,
- 1:19:22but it is a concern for drivers.
- 1:19:24Tanya's mentioned it before too, 'cause she doesn't use the oxyo.
- 1:19:27LED headlights.
- 1:19:28See my shameless plug.
- 1:19:29So, you know, spotting deer is the thing that you gotta do because
- 1:19:33there's more of them out there than there ever has been before.
- 1:19:36Dude, I am hell bent.
- 1:19:38I'm gonna take up hunting.
- 1:19:39I am gonna make it my personal mission to make all of the
- 1:19:43white-tailed deer go extinct.
- 1:19:45That's a tall order all in.
- 1:19:50Meanwhile.
- 1:19:51Back of the ranch.
- 1:19:52I saw this one and it wasn't quite Florida man worthy, but I figured
- 1:19:56Tanya, you'd appreciate this.
- 1:19:58Headline Reads, woman doesn't wanna get taken advantage of at the
- 1:20:02mechanic, so she puts on the disguise.
- 1:20:05That's gotta be the worst fricking disguise.
- 1:20:07You know, I thought that at first and then.
- 1:20:09As I look more at her.
- 1:20:12But is it,
- 1:20:15I mean, the TikTok video is the best though.
- 1:20:17Oh, I didn't see the booty.
- 1:20:19Shorts are a problem.
- 1:20:20Like it kind of throws the disguise off a little bit.
- 1:20:23I just saw the still shot.
- 1:20:25Oh yeah.
- 1:20:25Go to the TikTok video below.
- 1:20:27But this is where it all falls apart the things people do for views.
- 1:20:31Yeah, that's exactly it.
- 1:20:32So from like the neck up, it's all Duke's a hazard, but the problem is
- 1:20:36from the neck down, it's Daisy Duke.
- 1:20:38So there's like, there's nothing left to the imagination.
- 1:20:42It's just like, yeah, you're not fooling anybody.
- 1:20:44Right.
- 1:20:44You didn't go full Peter Sellers here.
- 1:20:46Pink Panther style, full disguise.
- 1:20:49You know, like, no, sorry, that was a fail.
- 1:20:51Well, maybe she thought there was a counter.
- 1:20:56Yeah, so that's why this didn't make it to Florida, man.
- 1:20:59This has definitely lowered my expectations, lowered expectations.
- 1:21:08And speaking of this next one, this cursed road near North Dakota Oil Field
- 1:21:15swallows up any truck that tries it.
- 1:21:17And I'm like, okay, cursed.
- 1:21:19Road cursed by the stupid people that continue to try to drive on it.
- 1:21:23Oh my God, that's the only cursed part of this road.
- 1:21:26There's a fucking hole in the road and people drive into it.
- 1:21:30It's a. This isn't a road, right?
- 1:21:34Oh my God.
- 1:21:35It's a landslide.
- 1:21:38What?
- 1:21:39And then they wonder why their built Ford tough.
- 1:21:41Got stuck.
- 1:21:42I apologize.
- 1:21:43Actually, none of these pictures the picked a Ford.
- 1:21:46And who was driving that backhoe?
- 1:21:48It's flipped over the backhoe.
- 1:21:50Can't even make it on this quote road end quote.
- 1:21:54It's terrible, but it's hilarious.
- 1:21:56I like this caravan that tried to do it.
- 1:21:59Video.
- 1:22:00Sh.
- 1:22:00That truck's getting swallowed up.
- 1:22:01I mean, it's underwater again, how hard could it be?
- 1:22:04Right?
- 1:22:04And this is why I also have said before, reputable news coming from the drive.
- 1:22:09This is the stuff that they're reporting on.
- 1:22:11I was like, come on guys.
- 1:22:12Like, whatever.
- 1:22:13All right.
- 1:22:14Well I guess it's time we go down south.
- 1:22:16Talk about alligators and beer.
- 1:22:32Well, we're going down south, but not the florid.
- 1:22:35This time we're going to Houston's I six 10 Loop.
- 1:22:38Oh, I know this road.
- 1:22:39Oh boy.
- 1:22:40This would've been fun to witness.
- 1:22:42You really have to watch the video.
- 1:22:44Oh, no.
- 1:22:45So before you watch the video, this guy's sob breaks down.
- 1:22:48Well, that's the problem right there.
- 1:22:50This other person shows up and I guess someone they know they couldn't
- 1:22:53afford a tow truck, so they show up in their SUV to tow the sob.
- 1:22:57Go ahead and start watching the video.
- 1:22:58They attach the toe strap to the rear of the sob.
- 1:23:09Are you serious?
- 1:23:10Can you believe what the hell?
- 1:23:14You almost have to ask, was this a stunt?
- 1:23:16But I don't think, I think it's just dumb people.
- 1:23:18Wow.
- 1:23:20Holy shit.
- 1:23:21And why don't you immediately stop when you realize how fast were you going?
- 1:23:26Way too fast.
- 1:23:28I mean, that SOB is whipping around.
- 1:23:30So not only are they trying to pull the car from the rear.
- 1:23:35Obviously the tow hook is on a corner, so they've got the tow strap caddy corner
- 1:23:41and then they're like hauling ass down six 10, which is like a 4 95 but straighter.
- 1:23:47Oh my god.
- 1:23:47Poor car.
- 1:23:48And the dude's in the sob, you can see the guy.
- 1:23:51There's a guy in the driver's seat.
- 1:23:53No.
- 1:23:54Okay.
- 1:23:55There's dude in the driver's seat and the SOB is just whipping
- 1:23:59fishtailing back and forth behind.
- 1:24:02Wow.
- 1:24:02And allegedly the lady driving the SUV was like laughing.
- 1:24:06This is the principle of when in doubt throttle out because
- 1:24:09he obviously kept speeding up.
- 1:24:11This is insane.
- 1:24:12You can see the person in the car trying to counter steer to Correct.
- 1:24:16But it's actually, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:24:17It's making it worse.
- 1:24:20Oh my God.
- 1:24:21Well, here's the thing.
- 1:24:22Whatever way the car was going, they'd have to go the opposite way.
- 1:24:25So they probably were just all over the place In general,
- 1:24:30did these people get a ticket?
- 1:24:31I hope so.
- 1:24:33I mean, they could have caused horrendous accident.
- 1:24:35Oh my god, so, so bad.
- 1:24:37I mean, poor car, that car is destroyed.
- 1:24:39Whatever the problem was that it broke down is like 10 times worse.
- 1:24:43Now, the tow truck would've been a far less expensive issue to deal with
- 1:24:47and the repercussions of that, but.
- 1:24:49Anyway, couldn't find much in the Florida scene.
- 1:24:51Not much going on across the country either, but this was the nugget that
- 1:24:55I think makes up for the slow month.
- 1:24:57And with that, Tanya, it's time for our GTM Trackside Report,

- 1:29:43Peace.
- 1:29:46Hang on, hang on.
- 1:29:46Sorry.
- 1:29:47Stupid audio.
- 1:29:48Go ahead.
- 1:29:49Well, hello?
- 1:29:50Hello?
- 1:29:50Or shall I say Ben?
- 1:29:52Nu.
- 1:29:52Ben Nu.
- 1:29:53Is he frozen?
- 1:29:53Oh,
- 1:29:56it didn't load.
- 1:29:57That's the problem.
- 1:29:57It doesn't load.
- 1:29:59Oh.
- 1:29:59But we have a guest in the house with us tonight to celebrate.
- 1:30:02Le Mansr, are you on mute?
- 1:30:04Did you mute your mic?
- 1:30:05Yeah, it's his new microphone.
- 1:30:07There's a button on it.
- 1:30:08Sometimes you can accidentally hit it and it goes red.
- 1:30:11Ah, there we go.
- 1:30:12That's how he did his other episode.
- 1:30:14I wonder why that was red underneath there.
- 1:30:16He wonders why stuff gets edited.
- 1:30:17You skipped Florida, man.
- 1:30:19Oh, we missed one.
- 1:30:20Oh oh, look at this.
- 1:30:22Look, we have the toilet.
- 1:30:26The they, the, the pinnacle and the pitiful Williams's talking.
- 1:30:31But I think his mic muted itself again.
- 1:30:33Did it?
- 1:30:33Did it turn red?
- 1:30:34Yeah, I did.
- 1:30:35Yeah, I got it.
- 1:30:39Well, here we are in the drive through line.
- 1:30:43Me and her.
