- 0:03Oh podcast. Now there we go. You can hear me? You hear
- 0:07me? I can't. I can all right, brother, once again,
- 0:11welcome to the Groundest Show podcast with your boy. Let's just Sanchez coming to
- 0:17your live and direct from Floyd that you hear me And I'm here with my
- 0:21dog Joe for an easy Joe. What's going on my guy? Yeah?
- 0:25Man, episode, we're gonna be here holding it down well a boy,
- 0:29Q top. It's gonna be uh out this week, but we go hold
- 0:34damn it, yes, sir. Right right when I was booting up,
- 0:39man, I realized every time, you know how every time we record,
- 0:43like we usually put some in the background, like just some low music or
- 0:47just some kind of vibes just to kind of make the atmosphere dope for the
- 0:51for the pot and everything. Bro. I pretty much put the same thing
- 0:54on every time, and it's always the Craig David Born to do an album
- 0:59like I just shuffle it for whatever reason. Every week, I just find
- 1:03myself going back to that and just running that the whole time. Like I
- 1:07don't know what it is about. I don't know if it's like a comfort
- 1:10thing, just because like it's like an album that was like real impactful to
- 1:14me when I was younger, and I just remember listening to it or what.
- 1:17But like just hearing it in the background makes you feel good, you
- 1:19know what I'm saying. Yeah, you need that kind of stuff because we
- 1:23get too wrapped up in conversations and I think that apps brings you, brings
- 1:26you back down and like slow down with it. Yeah, it gives you.
- 1:30It gives you that vibe of like those best conversations that you have,
- 1:34like when you're just randomly like sitting around with a couple of people, got
- 1:38some music playing in the background and y'all just chopping it up about life,
- 1:41you know what I mean. Like those be the conversations that always hit the
- 1:45most, you know. So I don't even like, yeah that so I
- 1:51don't even like trying to like set up situations where you're like gonna have that
- 1:57kind of moment, you know what I'm saying. Like some people try to
- 2:00kind of fabricate that kind of thing, and it's like, nah, you
- 2:01just gotta it just gotta happen, you know what I mean, Like it
- 2:05just got to come together that way, and like those for those conversations to
- 2:08hit, it just has to be like a perfect storm, you know what
- 2:10I mean. I agree, those those combos just flow, they'd be like
- 2:15eight hours long. You'd even realize. Facts. But yeah, man,
- 2:21last week we was talking about that Apple Top one hundred list. It was
- 2:24a big conversation throughout the week, and there was a lot of interesting comments
- 2:30on the stuff that we said, and just people's takes me ever got mad
- 2:32of our opinions for sure. Yeah, yeah, facts. It's funny,
- 2:36man. We were talking about that before too, Like when I be seeing
- 2:38them comments, bro, Like, it just makes me laugh because I just
- 2:42I don't know what it is, like, I just imagine it, like
- 2:45in a lighthearted way, I guess, Like I don't. I don't imagine
- 2:47it like as a serious thing. I just imagine that somebody trying to be
- 2:52funny, you know what I mean. So it just makes me laugh,
- 2:53and it also simultaneously makes me think, like dang, like people really be
- 2:58like living or dying off these things like what these comments say. Like I
- 3:02don't give it a second thought once I see it, you know what I
- 3:05mean. It's like I just see it and then I carry on with my
- 3:07day, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I don't think any of
- 3:09us got a reaction. They got a reaction out of any of us.
- 3:13I just hit them. I did everything with the crying face. Oh yeah,
- 3:17yeah, it's funny, man, hilarious. They feel that way.
- 3:21Yeah. One of the things that a lot of people were saying that was
- 3:24like a valid point I wanted to hear your opinion on it was you know,
- 3:28I brought up a point when talking about all time albums that they need
- 3:32to be a certain age to even be considered, because like you need to
- 3:37give them that time to like go back and listen to it. And a
- 3:39lot of people was disagreeing. They were saying, Bro, you know you
- 3:43know something's classic right away. You know that time doesn't make something better.
- 3:47You know that music is just a vibe thing, like there's no time stamp
- 3:51on it, which is you know, I could see that point of view
- 3:54of it, But for me, I'm speaking about it from the point of
- 3:58view of like I was a big Juell Santana fan when I was in my
- 4:01teens, you know what I'm saying, And at that time, he was
- 4:04in my top rappers list, like top five. You know what I'm saying,
- 4:08Like you couldn't tell me many rappers that were better than Jewel Santana in
- 4:13my eyes at that time. Bro. Right now, I don't even think
- 4:16he's in my top fifty. Bro. You know what I'm saying. I
- 4:19would have told you at that time that what the game's been missing was a
- 4:23classic album. You know what I'm saying Right now, it's more like a
- 4:28nostalgia thing. You know. You hear it and you're like, oh,
- 4:30dang, I remember I used to like this song. But it's not some
- 4:31stuff that you're going to throw in your regular rotation. You know, No
- 4:34disrespect to him. He does have music like that that that I go back
- 4:39and listen to, like from the form Me to U album and like just
- 4:42certain records here and there. I love that rain Drops one, you know
- 4:46what I mean, where he sampled that five heartbeat joint. But he's he
- 4:53was a dope artist at the time. But you know, twenty years later,
- 4:56I'm not like, dang yo, that album is a classic album,
- 4:59you know. So that's my point of view on it as far as like
- 5:01music needs time, because like, you don't know something is great unless you
- 5:05listen. You can listen to it when you're ten twenty thirty forty fifty like
- 5:09it. It just always gives you that feel and you never feel ashamed to
- 5:12play it loud, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, what do you
- 5:15think about like time and how that affects music and how people receive it?
- 5:20Here? Yo? I think he No, I think they had they had
- 5:25valid points on there, but I would I would have just saying that part
- 5:30of being the great greatest sound of all time is the length of time that
- 5:35people that you stayed in rotation. It does play a part of it doesn't
- 5:41have to play a major part of it, but I would say that is
- 5:44an attribute of one of the greatest albums of all time if that's just one
- 5:49of that actually relaxed and that's what it is. But if it's that good,
- 5:53everything else makes up for it. So I get it at that point.
- 5:56But I still think it matters. Yeah, maybe not in this listing,
- 6:00but it still matters. Yeah, definitely. I Mean, obviously my
- 6:03opinion is that as well, because that was what they were coming at me
- 6:06for, was just that opinion that I feel like in each time. But
- 6:10it's like, it's not even a disrespect to the music. You could love
- 6:13it now and it could be a classic for you now, and it could
- 6:15still be a classic for you ten years from now, but it could also
- 6:18be a dud for you ten years from now, and then you know,
- 6:20the whole you know, it's a classic thing goes out the window. So
- 6:25I don't know, but one of my favorite comments from clown photos one oh
- 6:32one, I wanted to shout them out specifically because I just think it's so
- 6:39funny that somebody would make a page like with like a gimmick, you know
- 6:43what I'm saying, and then like talk crap to people and stuff. You
- 6:46know, that's just that's hilarious. Bro, Me and my boy back in
- 6:48the day, we made a Facebook, I mean a MySpace account. It
- 6:55was called I forgot what it was called. But it was like we made
- 6:58up two characters and made like took a picture of them. It was like
- 7:01honest Abe Lincoln and somebody else. Bro, I forgot, but it was
- 7:05like two stupid names, and it was like a troll account, you know
- 7:09what I mean, Like the early stages of like a troll account would be
- 7:12you know what I mean, just thinking about like people doing that now like
- 7:15as adults, Bro, it's just hilarious to me, dog, but he
- 7:19brought up a point about basically saying, like, how can we judge anything
- 7:25when we like little Baby, you know what I mean? Like how we
- 7:28even qualify? Yeah? Oh yeah. But I was like, Bro,
- 7:34like do you have to like only classic, like critically acclaimed music to be
- 7:42able to give your opinion on music? You know what I mean? Like,
- 7:45I know that there's plenty of songs that I enjoy that they're just to
- 7:47me, they're just sliders. It's not something that you know, the lyrics
- 7:51are particularly deep or whatever. It is just a joint that bops, and
- 7:55sometimes a joint just bops, you know what I mean. There's plenty of
- 7:59music, and you know, specific music from certain artists, like, for
- 8:03example, like Future. Bro. Sometimes like people will tell me, like,
- 8:07Bro, you like Future and they'll like quote certain things, and I'll
- 8:09be like, I got none to say to that, because I feel,
- 8:11you, Bro, some of it is ridiculous. But it's like I can't
- 8:15tell you why I like it. I just like it. It is what
- 8:18it is, And I don't think you gotta be you know, only listening
- 8:22to you know, top tier artistry to be able to give your opinion on
- 8:28music. You know what I'm saying, You gotta still have the discernment as
- 8:31far as like a listener to know like, hey, this is just supposed
- 8:35to be fun, this is supposed to be deep, This is supposed to
- 8:37make me feel this way, you know what I mean? Like everything don't
- 8:39got to hit the same way. Yeah. No, I think having a
- 8:43wide range variety of music you listen to it increases your opinion. So you
- 8:50gotta hear you gotta like other things that not but else because you hear a
- 8:52different sound out than than other people do. I think that plays a part
- 8:56of it. And I grew up into two the time, and even close
- 9:01friends of mine any time at a music opinion like well, yeah, well
- 9:03you listen to this, it's like so it's I gotta do what we're talking
- 9:07about right now. Yeah, they be the same genre of music, So
- 9:11it's something you you like. I said, I think you can like who
- 9:16you like and and still have a very strong opinion and inaccurate opinion of music
- 9:24that it was talked about today. Yeah, And it's funny man, how
- 9:28like low key something always comes back to little baby pause, like why why
- 9:35is he like the square root of everything we talk about. Somehow it just
- 9:39ends up in little Baby Dog. Like it's crazy. He's like so considered
- 9:43a big, big artist though. Yeah, I guess it's just it's also
- 9:46because he's so relevant that like he gets attached to like Gonna, he gets
- 9:52attatched the future, you know what I'm saying, Like, and you always
- 9:56yeah to Drake, you know what I'm saying. He comes up in all
- 9:58these like commer Station. You know, Kendrick shouted him out one of the
- 10:01disses, you know what I mean, Like when you're the people who just
- 10:05don't like represent her, Actually you haven't good ass career going. Yeah,
- 10:11And it even goes back to like the Drake thing, like you know,
- 10:16you don't have to only listen to hippity hippitie hop, you know what I'm
- 10:20saying, Like that's not a valid excuse to try to like be little Drake,
- 10:24you know what I mean. As much as I'm not the biggest fan,
- 10:26I'm not going to say, Oh he's whack, you know what I'm
- 10:30saying, Like he's just not for me, you know, just because he's
- 10:33not you know, getting on a sample from the seventies and getting this crazy
- 10:39cadence and rapping a certain way like that doesn't have anything to do with anything
- 10:43because rap is so diverse, dog like from like even from the very beginning
- 10:48of hip hop, like every area had a distinguished sound that was so different
- 10:54from the other areas where it was just everybody's interpretation of what rap should be,
- 10:58you know what I'm saying. So it's like for you to say rap
- 11:01is this, it's like nah, bro, like you can stay rap originated
- 11:05somewhere and that it's the original sound and it's the essence of what rap is.
- 11:11You know, when you're talking about New York rap, you know,
- 11:13grinding New York beats, that vibe, Like when people talk about bringing that
- 11:16sound back, you could, you know, historically say that that is the
- 11:24hip hop sound just from the point of view of that's you know, pretty
- 11:28much what what everybody made their variation of was the New York sound because that's
- 11:33what they heard first, you know what I'm saying. But still at the
- 11:37end of the day, everybody got a different sound. And you can't say,
- 11:41you know, Texas rappers are whack just because there's rapping a different way
- 11:45that you're not used to. It's like, bro you're not from there.
- 11:46You're not feeling the vibe, you're not living what they living, so it's
- 11:50not hitting you the same way it we'll hit somebody else. It's the same
- 11:52way we listen to this Florida music or Kodak Black or something and people will
- 11:58be like, ah, like Kodak, But I'm saying I've been. I'm
- 12:01pretty sure you as well, because you be all around too, like I've
- 12:03been out west. When they're like Kodak Black, y'all listen to Kodak Black,
- 12:07Like what are you talking about? And then they talked to me about
- 12:09Dom Kennedy like he's the goat. Yeah, they love him out there.
- 12:13It's like they're all listening to him, and it's like, bro, here
- 12:16people don't even know who Dom Kennedy is and they're like what and they go
- 12:20on, Dom from the West Side would love or one into that's my ship.
- 12:24Yeah he's dope too. And it goes back to that thing like until
- 12:28you out there vibing and really like taking in what people are, you don't
- 12:31know, you don't know what that sounds means, you don't know what you
- 12:35like. Yet that's the same thing with like Little Baby and Gunna and like,
- 12:39I never caught myself ever listened to a Gunner album until this one,
- 12:43because now, like y'all, not just y'all, but people put me onto
- 12:46like what they're sam is supposed to be in their style of hip hop,
- 12:50and I'm like, oh, yeah, well they do that really good ship.
- 12:52It's hard. Yeah, I'm enjoying the Gunner for the first time.
- 12:56Like I said, I would have never gave it a chance of not trying
- 12:58to underst what kind of music, that style of it is, what kind
- 13:01of hip hop it is. Yeah, my best example for that is something
- 13:05that I've told y'all before, but I don't think i've said on the podcast,
- 13:07like me being a big fan of Freeway and originally not liking Freeway at
- 13:13all, because when I first heard him, he got a different way of
- 13:18rhyming. So it's not hitting on the two you know what I'm saying,
- 13:22Like he's not he's not rapping in just four bars where it's like these two
- 13:26lines rhyme, the next two lines rhyme, the next two lines rhyme.
- 13:30Like it's not like the format that you're used to. So the first time
- 13:33I really heard him, it just caught me so off guard that I'm like,
- 13:37bro, this dude is so whack, Like I just couldn't even understand
- 13:39how he was on the record type stuff. You know, I'm like,
- 13:41bro, they let him get on this Like this guy's terrible. And then
- 13:46I had a homie that was like grew up in that like North Philly area.
- 13:50He's a dog, I'm telling you, bro, like people in Philly
- 13:54dog, this Freeway is like the goat. Bro, you know what I'm
- 13:56saying, Like you gotta you gotta understand, like he's rapping like a different
- 14:00way. And when I really caught the flow, like if it wasn't for
- 14:03him, like really like breaking it down and really trying to like really push
- 14:05it, like yo, listen, like you really got to understand. Like
- 14:07once I caught the flow rap and it started rhyming to me, I'm like,
- 14:13oh man, like I understood what he was talking about. Like damn,
- 14:16Freeway is nasty, bro, nasty nasty. But he's probably like the
- 14:22easiest most shocking display of like somebody that you could listen to that if you're
- 14:28not really used to that sound or you're not listening to it with the same
- 14:31ear, like you're not going to catch it. You know. Now what
- 14:35we do bro, when we do track is still on my favorite about time.
- 14:39Yeah, man, so the sun come up, when the sun go
- 14:43down. He got classic hip hop joints, like where like anybody that's a
- 14:48fan of rap, they could start rapping something like like you said, the
- 14:50what we do, you can start rapping that. Everybody's gonna remember it.
- 14:54The flip side a good chance a lot of people remember it, you know
- 14:58what I mean. But scifically that what we do? Oh man, that's
- 15:03just like a hip hop staple. Yeah, and flip side was you got
- 15:11served? Nobody ever go forget that, bro. I've never seen you guys
- 15:15served. Wow, that's like not seeing Titanic. I've never seen Titanic,
- 15:20but that's like that, dog. I seen Titanic in the theaters as a
- 15:24little kid. No, I got dragged out there, bro, because my
- 15:28mom wanted to see it and if she didn't bring me, there's no way
- 15:31she was going to see it. Four and a half hours was it in
- 15:35that theater? It was like three hours or something like that. I think
- 15:39I was just laying down the whole time from what I remember. But yeah,
- 15:43man, this was an interesting comment that I saw as well that I
- 15:48wanted to dive into. I pulled up a list here of just general albums
- 15:52that came out in nineteen ninety eight, because someone said that Lauren Hill being
- 15:56the number one album was crazy because it wasn't even the best album that came
- 16:00out that year. Oh yeah, And I was like, oh, okay,
- 16:04let's see, because I never really ever thought about it from that point
- 16:07of view, Like, was Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill the best
- 16:12album of nineteen ninety eight? So I'm gonna run down some albums for you
- 16:18that came out in nineteen ninety eight. All right, So we got outcast
- 16:23Aquiminine that came out in ninety eight. I would I would venture to say
- 16:30that you would have Miseducation above Equimentine. Yeah, right, I probably would.
- 16:37Also, I don't EQUIMENTI didn't have as many bangers, you know what
- 16:44I mean? Like over time people start appreciated more, But the Miseducation had
- 16:49a harder impact versus that one as soon as it came out. Yeah,
- 16:53And like the big song out of Aquimini was what Rosa Parks pulling up the
- 17:00thing here? Yeah, Rosa Parks. I mean, that's the only song
- 17:03that like a mainstream music fan will even know from that album is Roads of
- 17:07Parks. The other joint is the artist storytelling, which that's like a hip
- 17:11hop cut, like somebody, you know, people don't really listen to the
- 17:15artist storytelling. Even though that song is like one of my all time favorite
- 17:18songs, but it's definitely not you know, those two songs are not strong
- 17:25enough to put it above Angel that that was a classes which one? You
- 17:33said, spotylicious number twelve? What list are you looking at because I'm looking
- 17:38at just like a general list here. Oh the song you're talking about I'm
- 17:42tripping? Yeah, yeah yeah. For me, honestly, it was really
- 17:47just those two songs, Like I wasn't really the skew it on the Barbecue
- 17:49was something I messed with a little bit just because of the Ray Kwon thing,
- 17:52and it's like it's a cool little vibe, like the historical significance is
- 17:59kind of what made me really like rock with that song more than it just
- 18:02you know what I mean, Like it's a good song, but it's not
- 18:04you know, all that. But I could agree with that. We got
- 18:10to here the most definitile lied Black Star album, although it is a very
- 18:15critically acclaimed and revered hip hop project. Definitely wouldn't say it's better than the
- 18:22Miseducation. To me, I don't think so. I couldn't do that.
- 18:26That was when we start getting a little bit a little bit trick, all
- 18:33right, So I'm I'm gonna throw a little a little softball first. But
- 18:37Gang Star Moment of Truth dropped in ninety eight as well. It wasn't as
- 18:45good as the album before it was. It was kind of like the end
- 18:48of that run, you know what I mean. So I wouldn't put it
- 18:52above Miseducation, but it is. I think so far all four of those
- 19:00are in that top one hundred of the of all time albums. Yeah,
- 19:07yeah, I think Quemen and I maybe was on it. Yeah, we
- 19:14would have to verify. Yeah, well, I think Black Star and le'st
- 19:21me just saying Moment of Truth. Yeah, Now, this is the part
- 19:26where I started, you know, separating myself from Miss Laurence Hill. No
- 19:30disrespect but capital punishment, big fun Yo. I was going to bring him
- 19:36up earlier about the time. That was gonna be one of the examples of
- 19:41time that album still goes hard today and that was just one album and his
- 19:45time was cut short. Bro, time matters along your last matters, especially
- 19:51after you die. Bro, still not a Player punished me freaking. There's
- 19:57led chest song you Ain't a Killer, I'm Not a Player, super lyrical
- 20:06with Black Thought, the dream Shatter. Nah, this album was crazy.
- 20:12You came up fast money Nah, Bro Twins deep cover, Bro, this
- 20:18was Yeah. This was the one one of the classic lines I faut Joe
- 20:22ever did in the middle a little literally, Bro, I can't put I
- 20:27can't put mis education over capital punishment. Same. I'm ad in Capital Punishment
- 20:33from my gym playlist to morn Damn, I forgot all those bangers. I'm
- 20:37curious for your for your opinion on this volume two Hard Knock Life. That's
- 20:42my all time favorite album. So you're putting that above the Lauren Hill Ship.
- 20:48That's my all time favorite jay Z Nah, that's my all time favorite
- 20:52jay Z album. So what does that mean? Does that mean that it's
- 20:57over mis educationation or not? I would put the Blueprint the Black album above
- 21:07that, but those are my favorites. That's all. That's all the song.
- 21:10Mm hmm. That's interesting. That's interesting all right for sure. For
- 21:14me here it's dark and hell is hot. Dm I'm putting that over Lauren
- 21:22Hill. But that's third taste pause. There's only certain fans. How's it
- 21:30going down? I can feel it? The start is something the f D
- 21:42A yo nah bro. But those two albums compared side by side are like
- 21:48different sizes of the spectrum completely. It's two genres for sure. It's it's
- 21:53different lanes, but like still lyrical content like you know, bar for bar,
- 22:00if you will, song for song, I'm taking his dark. Come
- 22:06on, bro, come on, that's an album right there. That's an
- 22:08album that's a that's like, that's the album that you know what I'm saying,
- 22:15that's bro. People forget DMX's impact and his run and how on top
- 22:19he was when he dropped his music. But then that goes back to what
- 22:25you were saying about the longevity thing. A lot of people aren't going back
- 22:27and listening to DMX. If you are more than likely you got Gene shorts
- 22:33and tims on fancts and so listen to Pandora Radio radio. You remember that,
- 22:41Remember when that was like the cool thing, like the mixes on Pandora
- 22:45like Radio four hundred degrees by Juvenile. I'll put the Lauryn Hill above that.
- 22:53Yeah, that was definitely not my my down South, you know what
- 22:57I mean? Like it was a different and down South than my down South.
- 23:02I rocked with it, but it wasn't like on that level for me.
- 23:07System of a Down, System of a Down, that's not for me.
- 23:11You don't like System of a Down. I liked a couple of songs,
- 23:15but it's nothing that ever played on I'm a big fan of System of
- 23:18a Down. Yeah, I gotta yeah, people always listen to this ship.
- 23:25Yeah, but I'll give you that one. That's definitely a very specific
- 23:27thing. Flesh of My Flesh, Blood on My Blood dropped in ninety eight
- 23:30two, what right? What? Nah? Bro Sleeping is so good?
- 23:44Nah? Bro. Slip is my favorite album, I mean, my favorite
- 23:52h and the one you know other cats got Love for Me, Love for
- 23:57Me, busloves Mean Now Dog Slipping is one of those songs that I can
- 24:03never skip. And I don't know if you've noticed this, but Slipping is
- 24:07not you can't find a dirty version on streaming anywhere, the original dirty version
- 24:15of Slipping. It's not on streaming anywhere. Bro, the only one you're
- 24:22gonna get is a re record or the edited version of it, and they
- 24:27lost that master. I don't know what it is. I don't know if
- 24:32it's some kind of rights thing, I don't know. I don't know what
- 24:34it is, bro, because I know it's on the original albums, you
- 24:38know what I'm saying, So they can they can get a high quality rip
- 24:41from the original albums at least, So it's like why I probably say the
- 24:45original files from that one, yeah Bro. For me, same thing,
- 24:49I have to like always keep the files of that album like on my computer
- 24:55because if not, I can't listen to Slipping Dog, and I'm not trying
- 24:57to listen to No Slipping Clean. It's not even the edited version, it's
- 25:00the clean version where like the words are replaced. Bro. I don't even
- 25:07know how yeah that was. That was terrible. First came to Woo everything
- 25:15that is a clean version. I forgot. That's not how the she got
- 25:19also flat what oh man? Bro? Nothing nothing fishes me off more than
- 25:27the clean version of a song, especially when you hear the intro drop you
- 25:32know what was a classic culprit of that growing up for me, living it
- 25:37up by Jo Rowland case because it was such like it was such a well
- 25:44known intro and such a hard drop in that beat, like and just that,
- 25:49Like as soon as you heard that, you're like, oh, and
- 25:52then it drops and it's the edited verse, the clean version, the worst,
- 25:56bro, the worst think I got talking to love all my bros and
- 26:02do all my shows like what it saw slapshot hard to be edited version.
- 26:08In fact, some songs I feel like they should just be like, nah,
- 26:11bro, you getting this explicit or you're not getting it at all?
- 26:15You know what? Let me tell you this situation that I realized that I
- 26:18ran into my life. I listened to the can I get a? Can
- 26:23I Get It? With jay z Ja Rule and Roxy No what that was
- 26:29a Foxy can I Get it? What's the skinny taw skinny girl name?
- 26:33She was a rapper in the rock Charlie Baltimore? Was it? It wasn't.
- 26:40It wasn't Foxy on that song can I get her? No? Uh?
- 26:47Trying to blink a mill a mill? Okay, yeah, I remember
- 26:51what that is? All? So I heard the main It wasn't edited,
- 26:56it was a clean version, So it's a mainstream when replaced with different words,
- 27:00and that is the one I remember, and anytime I would hear anyone
- 27:03played off the album, it's completely different. Like John Ruth switches up his
- 27:07whole version. Yea, yeah, it's a whole different Yeah, a whole
- 27:11different song. And I'm like, damn, like they went too much on
- 27:15this. I was like, I'm going back to the clean version. So
- 27:17I always prefer the clean version over the dirty version. Dirty rats, I'm
- 27:22going back here the same thing. I'm still not a player, but he's
- 27:25still like, hey that there's a there's a dirtier version of that. Yeah,
- 27:27yeah, then the clean one. I prefer the clean one where at
- 27:32the end Joe says beating dudes down something silly Exactly, you don't say that
- 27:38in the clean one. Yeah, No, I like the dirty I always
- 27:42like the dirty version though, I always. I'm telling you, I wouldn't.
- 27:45Nothing would make me more mad. Joe, bless my mom, thank
- 27:49you so much for doing this for me. But she bought me to get
- 27:53rich and I try and clean version dog version I downloaded off line wire.
- 28:03I'm like, I'm straight on this. I'm listening to the real one,
- 28:06because ain't no way some songs are too much like yo, I said,
- 28:10like radio and on occasion like walk comes on you know Cardi b a Mega
- 28:15It Stallion. Yeah, I don't, I don't. They just got sound
- 28:18effects. Like she barely said any words in the entire verse. I've never
- 28:25heard that song, Like I'm like little pieces when it was like big,
- 28:29but I never actually like listened to the whole song. Yeah, that's produced
- 28:32by a M two Yeah, facts, and I'm not sure if that's let
- 28:37me let me double check before I say it, because it's a cool little
- 28:41connection. H hm, let me pull it up here one quick such al
- 28:56right, Yeah, I don't know if he did this exact one, but
- 29:02a producer, I mean a engineer from out here in Orlando. He came
- 29:06up at some of the studios around here shout out to source. He did
- 29:14a lot of those I don't remember which. I don't remember if it was
- 29:17Savage or what. But he was mixing a lot for Megan at the time.
- 29:21And he came out of Orlando and he got you know, multiple Grammys,
- 29:25you know, working with Megan and them, and he was bro he
- 29:26was out here giving those Hollywood quality mixes, you know what I'm saying.
- 29:33And then just like nobody took advantage while he was here. I'm mad that
- 29:37when I worked with him, like I wasn't like the artist that I am
- 29:41now, you know what I'm saying, Like the songs that I got mixed
- 29:44from him are like nowhere near my best work, Like I wasn't. I
- 29:48wasn't nowhere near as polished as I am now, Like with singing back then
- 29:53as I am now, Like it would be so dope to work with him
- 29:56like with the different you know, just under these difference set of parameters now
- 30:00than than before. You know what I'm saying. But yeah, shout out
- 30:07to Orlando man having hands on like the biggest records in the world. Man.
- 30:11Like, even the same thing with the comedy scene right now, man,
- 30:15Like I was even just talking to Freddy about just getting more involved in
- 30:18that scene just because I'm seeing, like, Bro, these dudes out here
- 30:22are dope. Like we got like class A comedians coming up in Orlando right
- 30:27now, and people just don't even know. Like you could literally go out
- 30:30to a random show in downtown Orlando, like on any night of the week
- 30:34and see a comedian that's like a regular working comedian that you're probably gonna see
- 30:40on some you know, on TV or some some big scales very soon,
- 30:45you know what I'm saying. But yeah, to kind of put a bow
- 30:48on the album, thinks we kind of went off on a tangent. It
- 30:52kind of does seem like you can make a case for Miseducation being the best
- 30:56album of ninety eight, but did you actually look up ended up the best
- 31:00album of the year. I mean, it's it's the fact that it's the
- 31:06number one album of all time in Apple and there's still a question of if
- 31:10it was the best album of ninety eight. It's kind of like those two
- 31:14things kind of can't go hand in hand, you know what I mean.
- 31:17Yeah, but commercially and just look, like I said, looking at the
- 31:22albums that came out in ninety eight and looking at it also through the lens
- 31:25of what you were saying, like the taste and like the genre that these
- 31:29albums are in. I mean, there's really not anything that pops out to
- 31:33me that I could say on a big scale was a better album than mis
- 31:37Educational Laurence Hill. That's true, very very good point. So, you
- 31:44know, and it goes back to like the fact that we're talking about this
- 31:48is even like making it seem like we're not Lauryn Hill fans or something like
- 31:52Laurynce Hill. Miseducation is still like in my rotation and has songs that like
- 31:56are in my all time favorite songs, you know what I like. It's
- 32:00not even like something where it's like a disparaging thing or anything like that.
- 32:04It's just, yeah, it's just you know, talking shop about music.
- 32:08You know what I'm saying, And it goes back to what we were talking
- 32:10about with you know what your tastes or whatever. Bro, anybody's qualified to
- 32:15talk about music and give their opinion. That's even like me as an artist,
- 32:17I always say, like, you know, what are you doing to
- 32:22make people not rock with what you're putting out? Because at the end of
- 32:24the day, Bro, if a song is dope and it makes you feel
- 32:29dope when you listen to it, like, you can't fight that. You
- 32:30know what I'm saying and what people say, which is why somebody like Drake
- 32:36is going to always win. I'm not a big fan, but I can
- 32:38still put together the greatest hits of Drake songs that I like and listen to
- 32:44it all the way through. You feel what I'm saying. It's like for
- 32:46me to be able to pull out, you know, thirteen to seventeen Drake
- 32:51songs that I could say, Yo, this is a dope album worth of
- 32:53music. And I'm not even a fan of dude, like from the point
- 32:57of view of like really always checking out his music and stuff like that.
- 33:00It tells you, like what level of artists he is and why he is
- 33:05in the position he's in. Same thing with Lauryn Hill, Bro, That's
- 33:07why she's been able to just live off of that album and really just say,
- 33:12hey, y'all, y'all, I made this, so you're just gonna
- 33:15deal with it, you know what I mean? Like she can do it
- 33:17because that music has the people on that much of a choke hold, you
- 33:22know what I mean. People want to so bad be able to say I
- 33:25saw Laurence Hill perform X Factor, you know what I'm saying. Like they
- 33:29want to be able to say I seen Lauren Hill perform Everything is Everything.
- 33:32Like they want to be able to live that experience and feel that vibe.
- 33:37And when you do that to people, like you can't say anything, you
- 33:42know. That's why all them comments came through, bro, just because people
- 33:45were so affected by the music that when you talk something about it, they
- 33:50feel like you saying something about because it's so entrenched into who they are,
- 33:53you know what I'm saying, And that's the dope think about music in general,
- 33:59and you want to be saying people do do feel strongly about how music
- 34:01made them feel it shit and strong enough to reply to our stupid ass comings
- 34:09exactly. But hey, we love it, keep it coming, we take
- 34:14it. We take it in good spirit for sure. Man, at the
- 34:16end of the day, it's all content. At the end of the day,
- 34:21my music opinion has no baron or who I am as a person,
- 34:24So you know, bombs away. It's not ever getting financial advice. Yeah,
- 34:30facts, this is not financial advice. This is just music opinion.
- 34:37But yeah, man, I'm dropping magazine Friday to thirty first. Man,
- 34:42I'm super hype. I've had that song tucked way longer than I'd like to
- 34:46admit, just because of Bro, when you're making music, it's a lot
- 34:52of money involved. I just opened a business, you know, so that
- 34:55the money is not in abundance right now, so you got to prioritize different
- 35:00things. If I could drop a song, I mean I got enough music
- 35:05that I could drop a song every week, you know, and and be
- 35:07rocking for a good year and some change, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:10But Alas, it's not the situation I'm in right now. But everything is
- 35:15about its ebbs and flows, and I'll be back in that space, back
- 35:20in that groove sooner than later. And everything is happening in the way it's
- 35:24supposed to happen, bro, So it's just it is what it is.
- 35:29And when I do drop, just make sure y'all checking it out, y'all
- 35:31vibe into it, y'all sharing it, you know, everything, everything helps
- 35:37that link. Yeah, facts, I'm gonna post this video to man pre
- 35:40saved link in my bio. That helps a lot for you know, the
- 35:45music getting on other people's feeds. And you know, if a lot of
- 35:49people are pre saving it and listening to it, it'll just organically pop up
- 35:54for other people just because it becomes the popular song, you know what I
- 35:58mean. And that's what, you know, propel my music up to this
- 36:01point. Like I'm blessed that me focusing on the actual music itself and putting
- 36:09out what I've put out has put me in a position where like people are
- 36:14checking for my music because they're just checking for good music, you know what
- 36:17I mean. Like I've been able to slide by without having to do all
- 36:22the social media stuff and you know the same way that everybody else does.
- 36:27And I'm not saying that I'm going to slide by forever, you know,
- 36:30without having to do it all. But you know, it's definitely been humbling,
- 36:37you know what I mean, like seeing people really affected by the music
- 36:40the same way we talk about, you know, with these artists. You
- 36:43know, I would I would love to just be in that air for somebody,
- 36:46you know what I mean, where they hear somebody saying, yo,
- 36:49he sucks, and they take it personal because my music just means that much
- 36:53to them, you know what I mean. Facts, But yeah, man,
- 36:57what's good with you? My guy? Anything you want to leave them
- 37:00with, I'll be out next week. You know. This time next week,
- 37:04I'm being cam couon and join a good fact the board. Yeah,
- 37:07celebrating myself and three other my close friends are fortieth birthdays. Yeah, man,
- 37:14y'all, y'all been having that in the tuck for a little while,
- 37:16and I know you've been looking forward to it for like, I feel like
- 37:19it's been a few years that you've been talking about that. Well, no,
- 37:22no, no, for the last year we talked about it, but
- 37:25we finally decided like maybe six seven months ago and we booked it then,
- 37:30and like now it's actually next week and it's great. You hadn't been flowing
- 37:32it around though, like for a little longer than that. Maybe, no,
- 37:36no, no, I guess it just feels like a long time.
- 37:38But I know I've heard you talk about this trip in particular, like a
- 37:42few times, so it's dope you're feeling reflective or anything, or you think
- 37:47it's something that once you take the trip, it's going to be something that
- 37:52get you hoping. I'm hoping up. Yeah, right now it's hitting forty
- 37:55is not really doing anything for me. Definitely going uh, you know,
- 38:00make my mindset better and I have it to my routines, but I've been
- 38:05doing that starting this year, so I just want to roll right into it.
- 38:10But yeah, I think maybe after the trip, after celebration, all
- 38:13that and all the talks, long eight hour music in the background, drinking
- 38:17hand talks, then I'll sit back and reflect on the last four years of
- 38:22my life. You gotta take it all in there, yo, stay bottom.
- 39:07Put stop us, stop not pusty, do not tusdytop not after not
- 41:12a not after a
