- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's origion,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Welcome to patri Get's Unfiltered. What if Shapiro's It's a deli?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Have you? Have you been there that? Yeah? Yeah, And
- 0:25Speaker 1: of course we had to sit next to some old
- 0:27Speaker 1: lady coughing up along the whole time next to us
- 0:30Speaker 1: the whole meal. We were all bummed out. I don't
- 0:32Speaker 1: know how Covid didn't get her. Brady screwed it up
- 0:35Speaker 1: by keep staying good, winning tables. Yeah, you know, like
- 0:41Speaker 1: getting care for it. You know, got that kind of
- 0:43Speaker 1: positioning where if you if you go too high, it
- 0:45Speaker 1: stops Den in its track. And he was just like
- 0:47Speaker 1: and just pushed it. No problem. Then you see the
- 0:48Speaker 1: other guys kind of sound effect. I was twenty years
- 0:52Speaker 1: in a row doing that thing. There's a plaque on
- 0:54Speaker 1: the webber grill, no doubt what I'm saying that, Like
- 1:00Speaker 1: little Paul Parola wearing Patriot forty pajamas, fanboy is really
- 1:03Speaker 1: upset with that potential Matt Jonal's trade to the Raiders.
- 1:06Speaker 1: If the Raiders are willing to offer the number seven pick. Nope,
- 1:11Speaker 1: this is Patriots Unfiltered fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome
- 1:18Speaker 1: into Patriots Unfiltered. Is deuced in the host chair today.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Unfortunately Fred got boss man things to do. So it's
- 1:25Speaker 1: it's just the three guys. It's just three of us today.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Is he even in playing hookey? I think he's working.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I think he's definitely working. I saw him he was
- 1:31Speaker 1: doing stuff. But yeah, just us. The girls are off.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We gotta shout out Emma Green last day here, so
- 1:37Speaker 1: they're taking her out to launch, so so it'll just
- 1:39Speaker 1: be us here. You will be missed, comes, you will
- 1:41Speaker 1: be missed. Yeah. She wanted we're gonna play some Sarah
- 1:43Speaker 1: McLaughlin music for but we couldn't get the rights to
- 1:45Speaker 1: it in time. So um evans well remember yeah, all right,
- 1:53Speaker 1: there we go. Ah, so plenty on the docket today
- 1:58Speaker 1: because we got free agency. Come him up. Of course,
- 2:00Speaker 1: the huge resigning news this morning for the Patriots, which
- 2:03Speaker 1: which we'll jump into. Should we get into the big
- 2:05Speaker 1: Jets trade, we get Jets trade, uh, Jets release and
- 2:08Speaker 1: a Jets trade sounds like they're putting their ducks in
- 2:09Speaker 1: a row. Yeah, I'm annoyed. About Adam Schefter, just what
- 2:14Speaker 1: was how many times is he gonna do that? Not
- 2:17Speaker 1: the trade he thought it was like he did the
- 2:21Speaker 1: same thing during the season about something I forget now,
- 2:24Speaker 1: but that's his little trademarks. Stick doesn't work, Yeah, doesn't work.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Doesn't Anyway, The Jets made a trade for like Chuck Clark,
- 2:32Speaker 1: which is I think a good, good, good trade for them.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Tough guy. They had some depth at safety, so there
- 2:37Speaker 1: give up a seventh round pick for him something like
- 2:39Speaker 1: that for a guy who can start. I mean, that's
- 2:41Speaker 1: and let the the Braxton Barrios hype train begins. It's
- 2:45Speaker 1: gotta be tough on the train you take them. Yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I mean, I just think if you're gonna if Jacoby
- 2:52Speaker 1: walks in free agency, just adding another body too that
- 2:56Speaker 1: can play the slot role is not a bad idea.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's the answer, but it's just adding
- 3:00Speaker 1: another guy that can come in and compete for some
- 3:03Speaker 1: snaps there. I'll say this ringing endorsement. I would much
- 3:07Speaker 1: rather have Braxon Barrios than Slay both. Yeah, that's true,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but we can run. Yeah, we were diving a little
- 3:14Speaker 1: bit into into Barrios Um and Paul I mean, I'm
- 3:17Speaker 1: sure you don't remember. I don't know how he looked
- 3:18Speaker 1: him what eighteen and then I'm nineteen was the second
- 3:20Speaker 1: year here, I think, and basically got beat out by Jacobe.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I guess would would Gunnar? He had some and Gunner
- 3:25Speaker 1: that's a good one too. Was hurt a lot too.
- 3:27Speaker 1: He's banged up in that first year. I mean that
- 3:29Speaker 1: Miami kid. Who's that Miami kid's name? Oh the uh? Yeah,
- 3:35Speaker 1: Fred loved him? What was Jeff Thomas? Yes? Oh god, yes,
- 3:39Speaker 1: everybody loved him another one. Yeah, Fred was all aboard
- 3:41Speaker 1: that hype train too. He kept calling him like Jeff
- 3:44Speaker 1: something else, the entire Patriots Twitter, Jeff Antonio Brown, Thomas, Yeah, yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 1: so fast right seven's. I know Fred likes to think like, well,
- 3:53Speaker 1: how do you come up with these? Girl? How do
- 3:55Speaker 1: you reb Yeah? This validation. This at least one other
- 3:58Speaker 1: person that remembers the hype, you know, for a guy
- 4:02Speaker 1: that was like, you know, did even make it into camp,
- 4:05Speaker 1: Like I feel like we didn't even really see him.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I don't think he ever got in uniform. And and
- 4:09Speaker 1: then he also he's been bouncing around us one of
- 4:13Speaker 1: those and he's not even an impact player in that league.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's disappointing. I had really high hopes to who a
- 4:19Speaker 1: friend told us about him. Of course, the Patriots, I was,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I was being a little facetious at the top. They
- 4:23Speaker 1: did resign James Ferns, who I guess this would. He's
- 4:26Speaker 1: been with the Patriots last five years, has filled in
- 4:28Speaker 1: a bunch three starts last year. So you know, I
- 4:31Speaker 1: don't people get worked up about these ones. I'm just like, dude,
- 4:34Speaker 1: this is just there are people on Twitter, Paul, I'm
- 4:37Speaker 1: surprised you didn't see him that you know. Oh, if
- 4:39Speaker 1: they're gonna keep doing it this way, I was like,
- 4:41Speaker 1: these are just like housekeeping things to make sure that
- 4:43Speaker 1: you have a football debt, Like I mean your offensive line.
- 4:46Speaker 1: There's a guy that they know can play all three spots,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and you know if you know, in a storm, you
- 4:51Speaker 1: can put him in and he won't, uh, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: cause it to completely collapse. Is he gonna get the
- 4:57Speaker 1: job done? You know in peccably? No, but it's not
- 5:01Speaker 1: going to completely collapse on you. Yeah, that's wrong with
- 5:04Speaker 1: having guys like that. Definitely has some maybe future coach
- 5:07Speaker 1: potential as well in him too. Family of coach that
- 5:10Speaker 1: last name. I know he helped a lot last year
- 5:13Speaker 1: in that department with the staff being what it was,
- 5:16Speaker 1: and he was someone that was involved a little bit
- 5:19Speaker 1: staff being what it was. Well, I go, I mean,
- 5:21Speaker 1: in a little bit of an interesting deep dive. His
- 5:23Speaker 1: dad was one of the originators of the wide zone
- 5:26Speaker 1: and bringing that you know, from college into the pros
- 5:29Speaker 1: and I'm sorry, from the pros to college actually, because
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think Pittsburgh was the first one to really kind
- 5:34Speaker 1: of start it, and then he was among the first
- 5:36Speaker 1: in the late seventies early eighties I think, to kind
- 5:39Speaker 1: of bring it to the NFL. So when we were
- 5:40Speaker 1: also obsessed with wide zone last year, I was like, oh,
- 5:43Speaker 1: deference is there. I mean, he should know so, so
- 5:45Speaker 1: I guess serves serves to to the point. Yeah, I mean,
- 5:50Speaker 1: in a in a perfect world, a guy like Chason
- 5:52Speaker 1: Hines last year, who we didn't get to see a
- 5:54Speaker 1: whole lot of um or you know, Cody Cody run. Yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean, you know those guys in year two are
- 6:02Speaker 1: to the point where they're more attractive candidates to fill
- 6:06Speaker 1: the back up interior roles. Yeah. Right, and then you
- 6:10Speaker 1: can do what you've done countless times to ferns and
- 6:13Speaker 1: let them go and probably be pretty comfortable with the
- 6:16Speaker 1: ability to bring them back if you need to. Yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I think Jason Hines is a good one. I mean
- 6:20Speaker 1: he um kind of like body type on when you
- 6:22Speaker 1: kind of more of a thicker guard like that, kind
- 6:24Speaker 1: of a little bit more of a size, but with
- 6:27Speaker 1: on when you be in a free agent. I thought,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I thought that's an interesting you know, as you approach
- 6:30Speaker 1: the draft, we're talking about some interior guys, did they
- 6:33Speaker 1: take a flyer you know, on an interior developmental guy
- 6:36Speaker 1: if they don't really if they're not that high on
- 6:37Speaker 1: Hines to you know, potentially ensure if and when you
- 6:41Speaker 1: were to leave. So, I mean it's you know, it's
- 6:42Speaker 1: another one of those like little draft things where you're like, yeah, yeah,
- 6:45Speaker 1: they could see them grabbing one of those guys that
- 6:47Speaker 1: I mean, it'd be great though. And they have eleven picks, right,
- 6:50Speaker 1: eleven picks projected. Yeah, we haven't gotten the official yeah
- 6:52Speaker 1: projected again, don't know for sure about the comp pics,
- 6:55Speaker 1: but with eleven picks, you're gonna pick two or three
- 6:58Speaker 1: offensive linemen. Yeah, So that's the way it should work.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And rather than and I know I rant on this
- 7:03Speaker 1: all the time. But rather than you know, a big
- 7:06Speaker 1: money extension for Shaq Mason in a franchise tack for
- 7:10Speaker 1: Joe Toney, who were both excellent players. Michael, when you
- 7:14Speaker 1: I think is an excellent player, he does a really
- 7:16Speaker 1: good job. But like you would ideally be able to
- 7:18Speaker 1: let those guys walk because you have I mean, when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you was a sixth round pick. Chason Hines I think
- 7:24Speaker 1: was a sixth round pick two, right, yeah, hopefully he
- 7:28Speaker 1: you know, shows the ability. Now, I'm not saying that
- 7:30Speaker 1: all you guys. Look, there's a lot of Corey Hilliards
- 7:34Speaker 1: in Clint Oldenburgs that get drafted down there that don't
- 7:37Speaker 1: ever come in in the NFL, right John Halapio, Yeah, well,
- 7:41Speaker 1: although he did actually stick in the NFL with the Giants. Here,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm not suggesting that every offensive mor you're taking the fifth, sixth,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and seventh round is a potential Michael all when you
- 7:51Speaker 1: know that's a high end hit, Michael, A win you
- 7:53Speaker 1: in the sixth round. But you got to hope that
- 7:55Speaker 1: Chason Hines is at least or someone like that. It
- 7:58Speaker 1: doesn't have to be him specifically, do you remember, though,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I mean, and then fill in and then when you
- 8:02Speaker 1: was gosh, that's starting to blend together. He was twenty twenty. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty. Weird camp, of course, but I just remember
- 8:10Speaker 1: instantly you could just kind of tell I think this
- 8:13Speaker 1: guy can play. They're moving him around a little bit.
- 8:15Speaker 1: He just seems to be out there with the top
- 8:16Speaker 1: group a lot, like, well, that's what you can do.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Early on it seemed like yeah, I mean until you
- 8:20Speaker 1: get the one on ones and it's so funny, like
- 8:23Speaker 1: you watch and you're just like, whoa so, And we
- 8:26Speaker 1: always have our phraseology to keep us out of trouble
- 8:28Speaker 1: in terms of don't talk about starters and whatnot. Yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 1: he's in a group that included David Andrews, and you
- 8:34Speaker 1: know what about um, so you saw him out there
- 8:37Speaker 1: getting high end reps. And then you know the flip
- 8:40Speaker 1: side of that would be Ronnie Perkins, who for two
- 8:42Speaker 1: training camps I don't think is taking more than five
- 8:45Speaker 1: reps with anybody that you would ever have heard of.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So in your mind you're like, well, this guy's having
- 8:51Speaker 1: a really good camp. This guy's having a bad camp.
- 8:53Speaker 1: But in reality, you're just basing it on who they're
- 8:56Speaker 1: playing with. Yeah, Marnie Perkins, h what did you think
- 8:58Speaker 1: of him coming out? Him coming out? But I wasn't
- 9:01Speaker 1: one hundred percent sure about his fit in a three four.
- 9:05Speaker 1: He was an even front defensive end, hand in the
- 9:07Speaker 1: dirt kind of guy for three end and then they
- 9:10Speaker 1: brought him here and they wanted to transition him to
- 9:12Speaker 1: a stand up outside linebacker, which has been the goal.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And that's a little bit of a transition to be
- 9:17Speaker 1: up on your feet versus with your hand in the dirt.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And I don't think it's necessarily gone swimmingly in that
- 9:24Speaker 1: sense of it. I think it's hurt. Yeah, that hasn't helped.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean you would like to think
- 9:29Speaker 1: kind of along Paul's point, with josh Uja coming up
- 9:32Speaker 1: and Anthony Jennings coming up in that class coming up,
- 9:34Speaker 1: that a guy like Ronnie Perkins, if you don't want
- 9:37Speaker 1: to over extend to bring josh Uja back, then Ronnie
- 9:39Speaker 1: Perkins is supposed to be a top one hundred guy.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That's the next guy in line to bring that, you know, position,
- 9:47Speaker 1: that next wave at that position. So I think that
- 9:50Speaker 1: the bummer that if you're a Patriots fan right now,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and this is sort of I think a good way
- 9:54Speaker 1: to putting it is that they used to be able
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be a year ahead of these types of things,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but now they have so many in knee immediate holes
- 10:00Speaker 1: on the roster that they can't take a first round
- 10:03Speaker 1: edge to be a year ahead of Judon and uh,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, j and Jennings and those guys going being
- 10:08Speaker 1: in contract years and Judon maybe getting up there in age.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You can't do that anymore because you need a left
- 10:14Speaker 1: tackle to play tomorrow, you know. And I think that's
- 10:17Speaker 1: just where they're at. And back in the past, I
- 10:20Speaker 1: hear that a lot of oh, well, why aren't the
- 10:22Speaker 1: Patriots a year ahead of things anymore like they used
- 10:25Speaker 1: to be, And I think it's because they have too
- 10:27Speaker 1: many holes in the immediate to be planning for the
- 10:29Speaker 1: future like that. But yeah, and that, and that's what
- 10:31Speaker 1: the difference was. And I totally agree with Evans's entire
- 10:34Speaker 1: assessment there is when it was going at its best,
- 10:37Speaker 1: when the when the when the program was operating at
- 10:41Speaker 1: its peak efficiency, that's what it was. It was We're
- 10:44Speaker 1: going to draft Nate's soldier in the first round knowing
- 10:47Speaker 1: that Matt Light is still going to be here and
- 10:50Speaker 1: we can take our time inserting. Yeah, Nate's Solder into study.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Now he ended up playing a lot because I think
- 10:56Speaker 1: that was the sc Bass got hurt. Yeah, he played
- 10:58Speaker 1: right tackle, so he ended up playing a lot anyway,
- 11:00Speaker 1: But the you know, the idea is my first round
- 11:04Speaker 1: pick might be the third tackle this year. And that's
- 11:06Speaker 1: okay because I'm good and when I you know, when
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'm drafting like that. And then you went to that gap,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, from whatever was seventeen eighteen, nineteen twenty didn't
- 11:17Speaker 1: get a lot of you know, high impact players out
- 11:19Speaker 1: of those drafts. Those are the guys that should be
- 11:21Speaker 1: playing big roles. And now I think you did have
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, a couple of players out of twenty you
- 11:26Speaker 1: get Dugger and Jay And when you those guys are
- 11:32Speaker 1: coming up, now it's quick, it's you know, it happens fast.
- 11:35Speaker 1: So you have to figure out is it going to
- 11:37Speaker 1: be like it was back in the first part of
- 11:39Speaker 1: the dynasty or the second part of the dynasty when
- 11:42Speaker 1: you had trouble replacing those guys. Yeah, you brought up
- 11:44Speaker 1: you know, Volmer and Solder and the transitions at tackle,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and I think it's something that that Evan and I
- 11:48Speaker 1: were talking about we just by the way, we're doing
- 11:50Speaker 1: new mock drafts. We did a video and and everything,
- 11:53Speaker 1: but we were you know, I think that's what we're
- 11:54Speaker 1: trying to figure out. Is the first piece of it
- 11:57Speaker 1: is what is Trump Brown? You know? Is Trump Brown?
- 12:00Speaker 1: Left tackle? It's Trump Brown? And right tackle? Is Trump Brown?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Headed out of town? The second part of it is
- 12:04Speaker 1: do you hit free agency? Do you you know? Do
- 12:06Speaker 1: you do you invest big money in one of these
- 12:09Speaker 1: guys that's on the market, And we've talked about plenty
- 12:11Speaker 1: of those. And then lastly, you'll get to the draft
- 12:13Speaker 1: and how do you you know, you said you drafted
- 12:15Speaker 1: a guy who might be the third tackle in the
- 12:17Speaker 1: first round. You know, this year, if you're taking a
- 12:19Speaker 1: tackle in the first round, you don't have that luxury.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You might have to put him right into the mix.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So I think that that's the you know, the problem.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It feels like a math problem that you're trying to
- 12:28Speaker 1: solve with all those different issues, and where are we
- 12:31Speaker 1: going to end up? Is it going to be you know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: Trump Brown and left with another veteran on the right,
- 12:34Speaker 1: and hey, we've got a rookie that we took in
- 12:36Speaker 1: the third round that's maybe going to develop or is
- 12:38Speaker 1: it all new tackles. You know, it's a new guy
- 12:41Speaker 1: that we sign a free agency on the right and
- 12:43Speaker 1: we draft a left tackle. There's just so many options
- 12:45Speaker 1: right now, and I think that's the really one of
- 12:47Speaker 1: the key pieces of it. Even though, as I said
- 12:49Speaker 1: on the show, I'm not you know, oh God, they've
- 12:51Speaker 1: got to fix that. I think they need tackles and
- 12:53Speaker 1: they need to address the position, But I don't feel
- 12:55Speaker 1: like that that's like the biggest problem that they need
- 12:57Speaker 1: to get right. I think no matter what they do,
- 13:00Speaker 1: they'll be able to get at least okay play that
- 13:02Speaker 1: they can win with if they had the right pieces
- 13:04Speaker 1: at receiver, on the defensive side of the ball, etc.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I just think you worry about a guy like Roderick Jones,
- 13:10Speaker 1: for example. To put some names out there, Brodert Jones
- 13:12Speaker 1: got nineteen career starts at Georgia. He's not somebody that
- 13:15Speaker 1: has a ton of experience playing football. And if you're
- 13:17Speaker 1: thinking about drafting a guy in the first round that
- 13:20Speaker 1: needs to play immediately, like That's why I think they gravitate,
- 13:24Speaker 1: especially in the trenches, to those Senior Bowl guys, is
- 13:26Speaker 1: because those guys are four year players in college. They've
- 13:30Speaker 1: made thirty plus, you know, starts, like a guy like Scarronsky,
- 13:33Speaker 1: I think has thirty nine starts under his belt, and
- 13:36Speaker 1: you're coming in with a little bit more seasoning. Brodert
- 13:38Speaker 1: Jones is a freak athlete, great in space, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 1: just one of those guys that pops off the film
- 13:45Speaker 1: at you. But he's a little bit of a project.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He's gonna take some developing and if you're going to
- 13:49Speaker 1: put him right into the starting lineup, then that might
- 13:51Speaker 1: be a bumpy rookie season for him. So a guy
- 13:54Speaker 1: like Scarronsky, a guy like Anton Harrison, some of these
- 13:57Speaker 1: guys that have played Darnell Wright a senior Bowl guy.
- 14:00Speaker 1: The guys that have been in it for a while now,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I think are where they tend to gravitate towards in
- 14:05Speaker 1: that position. Cold strange senior Bowl guy. You know. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: don't think that they're going to look at these guys
- 14:11Speaker 1: that just don't have a ton of starts under their
- 14:12Speaker 1: belt to then go immediately play as rookies. I could
- 14:15Speaker 1: be totally off with that, but that's just the sense
- 14:17Speaker 1: that I get from them. With Lyneman, especially if they
- 14:20Speaker 1: want grown men at lyneman, Like they don't want guys
- 14:22Speaker 1: that you know, are still filling out or still have
- 14:25Speaker 1: a lot of technical flaw or something like that. They're
- 14:28Speaker 1: going to take a lineman early. It's going to be
- 14:29Speaker 1: a guy that's been there and done it. You know
- 14:31Speaker 1: what was interesting to me, I think we mentioned when
- 14:33Speaker 1: we were in Indie we had had a couple of
- 14:35Speaker 1: beers with sea bass, which was just super fun. It
- 14:38Speaker 1: was interesting though he said to me. He was like,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I think Solder was almost too tall, too tall to play,
- 14:43Speaker 1: which is something I had never heard. And he said,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, just he had real trouble at times with
- 14:47Speaker 1: guys getting underneath him. So, you know, just interesting little bits.
- 14:50Speaker 1: And again, you know, he talked about the arm length
- 14:52Speaker 1: thing that he didn't really see when it would matter
- 14:55Speaker 1: other than when he said Jason Pierre Paul, which I
- 14:57Speaker 1: think we all remember that he was quite the handful
- 15:00Speaker 1: forty six, but just tough, tough decisions. And I mean,
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think we'll get a lot of clarity next week,
- 15:05Speaker 1: not maybe not clarity, but at least a direction of
- 15:08Speaker 1: where they're going to go or kind of like I
- 15:09Speaker 1: am curious to see if they have anybody you know,
- 15:13Speaker 1: like there the year that it was to find Gilmore
- 15:17Speaker 1: as an example, um, you know, immediate bang um, or
- 15:23Speaker 1: if it's sort of more like last year where it's
- 15:26Speaker 1: quiet and then you know some secondary guys you know
- 15:30Speaker 1: Terrence Mitchell, Yeah, you know, it was one of the
- 15:33Speaker 1: first guys I remember last year. So I'm curious to
- 15:37Speaker 1: see if we can if they tip their hand as
- 15:40Speaker 1: to what exactly the approach will be, because I think
- 15:43Speaker 1: they could go in a number like that. When you're
- 15:45Speaker 1: you were talking about all the tackles, Evan, do you
- 15:47Speaker 1: think you know, do you guys think free agency, you know,
- 15:52Speaker 1: like a Mike McGlinchey is a realistic possibility. Yeah, I do.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I think that I to go off like this to
- 15:59Speaker 1: find Gilmore thing. I have a couple guys in mind
- 16:01Speaker 1: that I think fit that mold that that might happen. Now.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I don't know about McGlinchey because his play has seemed
- 16:07Speaker 1: to decline a little bit over the last couple of years,
- 16:10Speaker 1: and I think they would much rather invest in a
- 16:12Speaker 1: guy that's going up instead of you know, kind of
- 16:14Speaker 1: leveling out or going down to take that Stefan Gilmour, right,
- 16:19Speaker 1: is somebody that's going to get better over the life
- 16:21Speaker 1: of the contract that they're giving him. So I look
- 16:23Speaker 1: at Caleb McGarry, who just came off a great year
- 16:25Speaker 1: in Atlanta, Juwan Taylor the Jaguars right tackle. But I
- 16:28Speaker 1: think a lot of these guys are right tackles. I
- 16:31Speaker 1: don't Orlando Brown's really the only prize on that's gonna
- 16:36Speaker 1: play left side. So that's the big thing with our
- 16:39Speaker 1: mock draft was I really feel like if they're going
- 16:42Speaker 1: to sure up one side of it, it's probably gonna
- 16:45Speaker 1: be right tackle, whether it's flipping Trent back to the
- 16:48Speaker 1: right side or rolling with you know, Trent and McDermott
- 16:52Speaker 1: over there on the right side, or maybe they sign
- 16:54Speaker 1: one of these tackles. But the one guy that I
- 16:57Speaker 1: was mentioning it upstairs a little bit, I think that
- 17:00Speaker 1: Stefan Gilmour type signing, and it does so happen to
- 17:03Speaker 1: be another bill and it's Tremaine Edmonds. Like I just
- 17:05Speaker 1: feel like he's the type of guy that fits that
- 17:08Speaker 1: mold to a t, that checks every single box that
- 17:10Speaker 1: they could ever ask for for a linebacker. It's a
- 17:13Speaker 1: position that they have not really fully gone all in on.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I wouldn't say fixing, but at least upgrading. And he
- 17:20Speaker 1: put him next to Bentley, who's just a steady workhorse
- 17:23Speaker 1: where you know where he's supposed to be when he's
- 17:25Speaker 1: supposed to be there, and how you have a fire
- 17:28Speaker 1: you know, a guy that can just fly around the
- 17:29Speaker 1: field and do some freakish things. I could definitely see them. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and I like him. But you know, Roquan Smith eighteen
- 17:38Speaker 1: million right with Baltimore, you're looking at like twenty million.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Yeah for Tremaine Edmonds. Is that something that I personally don't.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's something that Yeah, I love
- 17:51Speaker 1: the play, right, I feel anything to say against what
- 17:53Speaker 1: you said, I think. I mean it's everything I kind of,
- 17:56Speaker 1: you know, think this defense needs along with the shutdown
- 17:58Speaker 1: corners just and it's a little bit more instinctual middle linebacker.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Who can you know, deal with the mobile quarterbacks. I
- 18:03Speaker 1: think that's when they struggle the most. I love it
- 18:06Speaker 1: on paper, It's just like man like and I hate
- 18:09Speaker 1: to do this. It's like, well, they got Bentley, they
- 18:11Speaker 1: just signed to V I think that's what they like.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I think that's what they're gonna stick with. But I
- 18:15Speaker 1: mean I'd be all for it. I just think that
- 18:17Speaker 1: those two guys are exactly who you'd want to pair
- 18:20Speaker 1: with the guy like tremade Edmonds, because you can say
- 18:22Speaker 1: to Tremade Edmunds, just go get the ball, right, like
- 18:25Speaker 1: just you just follow the ball, because Bentley and Tavai
- 18:28Speaker 1: are going to play the do your job defense right
- 18:30Speaker 1: like they're gonna do that side of it. So you
- 18:32Speaker 1: put to Tovai and Bentley and Edmund's out there together,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and Edmonds, now all of a sudden, is almost just
- 18:37Speaker 1: a free player that can just fly around and hit
- 18:40Speaker 1: hit whatever he sees right and and go and get
- 18:43Speaker 1: the football. So I don't know, I just I look
- 18:45Speaker 1: at that and another guy that was a high draft
- 18:48Speaker 1: pick tested through the roof at the combine checks a
- 18:50Speaker 1: lot of the same boxes that Stefan Gilmour did, and
- 18:53Speaker 1: I think that maybe they look at him and say,
- 18:55Speaker 1: the Bill's got a ton out of him. Don't get
- 18:57Speaker 1: me wrong, but here we know exactly how we're going
- 19:00Speaker 1: to use him, and maybe we can really get that
- 19:03Speaker 1: all pro potential out of him and that next step.
- 19:05Speaker 1: So snarky Paul, yeah, you know, sort of made an
- 19:08Speaker 1: appearance in his own head yesterday at Yeah, I mean
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm I'm on Twitter, and I and I saw like
- 19:14Speaker 1: there was m I forget where it emanated, but out
- 19:17Speaker 1: of Buffalo, it certainly looks like Edmunds and Poyer are
- 19:21Speaker 1: going to be available. Like I think that Buffalo is
- 19:24Speaker 1: to the point where I think that they realize that
- 19:26Speaker 1: they're probably not gonna be able to retain them. Now,
- 19:28Speaker 1: to me, Edmonds is the much more interesting guy because
- 19:31Speaker 1: of age. I think Poier is a great player, but
- 19:34Speaker 1: he's you know, he's on the other side of thirty. Um.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Edmunds is in his prime. And uh, you know, I'm
- 19:40Speaker 1: reading you know, sort of Patriots Twitter and and I'm
- 19:43Speaker 1: not assigning it to anybody because I'm gonna be honest.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I've talked to you guys about this. I have random
- 19:49Speaker 1: people that pop up on my timeline all the time
- 19:52Speaker 1: who I don't know who they are, So my guesses
- 19:54Speaker 1: they get there because other people who I do follow
- 19:56Speaker 1: like it or retweet it or something like algorith Right,
- 20:00Speaker 1: So that's the way it works. And I saw three
- 20:03Speaker 1: or four different things. Huh, it's all coming apart. Oh,
- 20:06Speaker 1: they lost their defensive coordinate. And I'm thinking to myself,
- 20:10Speaker 1: for the last five years, all I've heard is Buffalo
- 20:12Speaker 1: is choking dogs and their defense sucks. They can't stop
- 20:16Speaker 1: the run, they can't come up big in a big spot,
- 20:19Speaker 1: they can't win a big game in the playoffs. But
- 20:23Speaker 1: now two of their players on defense are available in
- 20:26Speaker 1: the defensive coordinators out and this is the time for
- 20:27Speaker 1: the Patriots the bounce, like you can't have it both ways.
- 20:31Speaker 1: They don't suck, and then you want the players, Like
- 20:35Speaker 1: one of those things has to be wrong, right, I mean,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I would say I want there now. I would take
- 20:38Speaker 1: Tremen Emmons as a player. I don't think he sucks.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Let maybe on record to say that I think he's
- 20:43Speaker 1: a good player, and putting my Patriots fan on I'm like, oh,
- 20:46Speaker 1: thank god, this is kind of like breaking up because
- 20:47Speaker 1: we haven't been able to solve this defense. I mean
- 20:49Speaker 1: the right, but you didn't spend the last five years
- 20:51Speaker 1: telling me how much they sucked, which is what a
- 20:53Speaker 1: lot of Patriots fans do. I will say this about
- 20:56Speaker 1: Buffalo though there and I'm not going salary cap, but
- 20:59Speaker 1: like they have to churn out some of these guys, right,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and they have to replenish some of it. And now
- 21:05Speaker 1: I think you do learn if you're Buffalo. How hard
- 21:08Speaker 1: sustainability is not just and I know they haven't even
- 21:11Speaker 1: want anything yet, but just in terms of always being
- 21:13Speaker 1: a contender and always being at the I think John
- 21:15Speaker 1: I will say the same thing that I'll say I
- 21:17Speaker 1: said about the Patriots. As long as Brady's healthy, the
- 21:20Speaker 1: Patriots will always be relevant. As long as Alan is healthy,
- 21:23Speaker 1: the Bills will always be right. I'm right now. I'm
- 21:25Speaker 1: not telling you they're gonna win the super Bowl. Like
- 21:27Speaker 1: Brady made you win the super Bowl six times, that's
- 21:30Speaker 1: like incredible, But when he wasn't healthy, you didn't make
- 21:34Speaker 1: the playoffs. Those margin desert those margins though, sometimes in
- 21:38Speaker 1: the playoffs, when they're going up against Kansas City or
- 21:40Speaker 1: they're going up against Cincinnati, losing guys like Tremaine Edmunds
- 21:43Speaker 1: and then not being able to draft a viable replacement
- 21:46Speaker 1: for Tremaine Edmonds, that those are the things that can
- 21:48Speaker 1: kind of sneak up on you in a playoffs. And
- 21:50Speaker 1: I'll give you another exam. They thought they made a
- 21:53Speaker 1: couple of those individual moves that were going to help
- 21:55Speaker 1: them get over the hump. Right, They signed a guy
- 21:59Speaker 1: like Jay kras who not Jay Crowder, Jamison Jamison Crowder
- 22:03Speaker 1: basketball player. Ye, Jamison Crowder, you know, to to sort
- 22:08Speaker 1: of fill, you know, a very specific role Von Miller,
- 22:11Speaker 1: to fill a very specific They didn't have those guys
- 22:14Speaker 1: right when accounted. When the playoffs came, they were both
- 22:16Speaker 1: injured and out and any kind of impact that they
- 22:20Speaker 1: were going to make to get them over the hump.
- 22:23Speaker 1: That that's how hard it is, like to Evans point
- 22:25Speaker 1: on the margins, like, I agree, I don't. I'm not
- 22:29Speaker 1: a salary cap guy, as everybody knows. But that doesn't
- 22:32Speaker 1: mean you can just keep resigning every player. At some
- 22:34Speaker 1: point you run out of money. Yeah, not cap space money.
- 22:38Speaker 1: And if it's going to cost you twenty million dollars
- 22:41Speaker 1: per year in money to sign a guy, that's gonna
- 22:45Speaker 1: be hard to do. Like not these owners don't all
- 22:49Speaker 1: just have bottomless pockets. Yeah, And that was and Brandon
- 22:52Speaker 1: Bean spoke at the combine and I just acknowledged everything
- 22:54Speaker 1: that we're saying. He's like, look, we understand we're going
- 22:56Speaker 1: to be a little bit up against it the next
- 22:58Speaker 1: couple of years, and you know we're taking measures to
- 23:00Speaker 1: to do it. It's I mean, but I think you're right.
- 23:02Speaker 1: It's about Allen, and it's about you know, evolving and
- 23:04Speaker 1: finding those pieces. I mean, we know the Patriots went
- 23:06Speaker 1: ten years in between Super Bowls trying to like turn
- 23:08Speaker 1: things over and find new pieces. Even with Tom Brady.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I mean, they were certainly right there, but it's a
- 23:13Speaker 1: big difference, like to your point, Evan, of like being
- 23:15Speaker 1: there but actually getting to the top of the people
- 23:17Speaker 1: forget because they was so good like that ten years
- 23:21Speaker 1: that they went without a Super Bowl. They were in
- 23:22Speaker 1: contention every year except for the year that Brady was hurt, right,
- 23:25Speaker 1: So they were right there every year. But it was like,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know, the O seven team, Like comparing the O
- 23:32Speaker 1: seven team and the O six team is like apples
- 23:34Speaker 1: and oranges. Both of them. Both of them won a
- 23:37Speaker 1: lot of games, both of them were very good, and
- 23:39Speaker 1: both of them went deep into the playoffs. But the
- 23:41Speaker 1: O seven team would have squashed the O six team, right,
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know, in terms of talent, And that's what like
- 23:47Speaker 1: Buffalo's team probably last year would have squashed the team
- 23:51Speaker 1: this year. They weren't as good, like it just the
- 23:54Speaker 1: way it worked out, they weren't. They weren't quite as talented,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and that happens. But they were both very good. Yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and I think again, there's not aus that quarterback is healthy.
- 24:02Speaker 1: They're going to be relevant. I also think it's crazy
- 24:05Speaker 1: with Buffalo that you see so many of their guys
- 24:07Speaker 1: talking about receivers at the top of the draft to
- 24:10Speaker 1: get that one beat is to fond Diggs. And I'm
- 24:13Speaker 1: just thinking, yeah, absolutely, And I'm just thinking to myself,
- 24:18Speaker 1: can we just get us to find Diggs? Like you guys,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you guys, yeah, you guys want you guys want to like,
- 24:24Speaker 1: come on, you know, they all so many the great
- 24:28Speaker 1: guys that cover one some of the other guys have
- 24:30Speaker 1: to cover the bills. I actually really like those guys
- 24:32Speaker 1: and Uh as much as we like to rip each
- 24:34Speaker 1: other about about the Patriots and the Bills, but they're
- 24:37Speaker 1: all mocking, you know, Zay Flowers, Josh Downs now Addison
- 24:41Speaker 1: might Fall and they're all when you say mocking, you're
- 24:44Speaker 1: saying mocking to the Bills. You're not mad at no.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And I'm just thinking to my you want you want more,
- 24:55Speaker 1: like you want more help for the course like this
- 24:57Speaker 1: is just but yeah, that's that's the mindset nowadays. As
- 25:00Speaker 1: they show Naim Hines returning the kickoffer touchdown, guess what
- 25:06Speaker 1: was the number one playoff? Well, they have Micah Hyde
- 25:09Speaker 1: is Bills and my boy Kyle Brandt. He somehow has
- 25:14Speaker 1: like become Bills fan, like one bet, I don't get
- 25:16Speaker 1: why he's all over them. I gotta I have to
- 25:18Speaker 1: shoot him the text and be like can you please
- 25:19Speaker 1: please stop? Can you? Yeah? And the other part of
- 25:22Speaker 1: the division that we really we kind of alluded to
- 25:25Speaker 1: it with Schefter being a smartass today um with a
- 25:29Speaker 1: trade for the Jets coming up. Well, I mean it
- 25:31Speaker 1: seems like based on the reporting that that meeting went
- 25:34Speaker 1: reasonably well with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets brass and
- 25:38Speaker 1: as Evan put it, yesterday or tuesday, you know, playing
- 25:41Speaker 1: footsie with Woody Johnson. I think you said the table
- 25:45Speaker 1: under the table in the dark room. I think Diana
- 25:48Speaker 1: was seen today for ESPN had a series of tweets
- 25:52Speaker 1: indicating that it seems like it's progressing and going. It
- 25:57Speaker 1: look looks like it's going to happen. Now, if it
- 26:00Speaker 1: was Schefter, I would say, oh, I do not have
- 26:03Speaker 1: the same faith in the reporting for others at ESPN
- 26:06Speaker 1: that I do with Schefter, So I'll believe it when
- 26:09Speaker 1: I see it, but that this is I mean this
- 26:11Speaker 1: this could be a significant problem. And I'm not even
- 26:14Speaker 1: talking about Brady in Miami. I'm just saying, if if
- 26:17Speaker 1: it's TWA in Miami, you haven't beaten him in four tries.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You haven't beaten the Bills consistently when it's not a
- 26:23Speaker 1: gale force wind. And now if you're gonna put Aaron
- 26:26Speaker 1: Rodgers with the Jets two games that last year with
- 26:29Speaker 1: tractor pulls, with the worst quarterback on the other team
- 26:32Speaker 1: that you could possibly imagine you, I mean, you're projected
- 26:37Speaker 1: as the last place team in the division. And with
- 26:38Speaker 1: Chuck Clark, which I mean they just traded for him
- 26:41Speaker 1: as well, Like you know, I mean not that he's
- 26:42Speaker 1: gonna but they're they're making moves. And I just I
- 26:45Speaker 1: would pose the question that I hinted at last Tuesday
- 26:48Speaker 1: when this when this Aaron Rodgers stuff first came, is
- 26:51Speaker 1: you know, if you're if you're Robert Kraft and you're
- 26:54Speaker 1: watching the Jets make this kind of move, do you
- 26:57Speaker 1: feel like I and I you know, this is when
- 26:59Speaker 1: we get into like the drama of like do you
- 27:00Speaker 1: feel like the Patriots need to respond? And I hate
- 27:02Speaker 1: like winning free agency and all that kind of stuff,
- 27:05Speaker 1: but in some ways, and like this might be a
- 27:08Speaker 1: little bit off track, but just watching this kickoff return,
- 27:12Speaker 1: like I always felt during the Patriots dynasty, there was
- 27:14Speaker 1: like these special moments that would happen, like you know,
- 27:16Speaker 1: Doug Flutie's drought kick, you know, like these little like
- 27:18Speaker 1: historical weird things out that's one that comes to mind. Sorry,
- 27:23Speaker 1: but but the meaning was playing a game they were
- 27:25Speaker 1: trying to lose, but little historical things win streaks, you know,
- 27:28Speaker 1: like twenty games, but but just like little but little
- 27:32Speaker 1: historical but there's what happened within the game that you'd
- 27:36Speaker 1: be like, oh my god, like they just broke another
- 27:37Speaker 1: record like this. Yeah, and I brought up the Flutey
- 27:40Speaker 1: one just because it wasn't like a historical thing, but
- 27:42Speaker 1: it was just like, oh that's kind of a cool
- 27:44Speaker 1: historical moment, and it's just the beat goes on for
- 27:46Speaker 1: the Patriots right now. That kickoff return felt like the
- 27:50Speaker 1: completely flipped and now the special magical moment is kind
- 27:54Speaker 1: of happening for the other team and we're just kind
- 27:56Speaker 1: of the road kill that gets you want to continue
- 27:58Speaker 1: with that, like you know and talk about like special
- 28:01Speaker 1: moments period. It's like the Miami miracle, the lateral with
- 28:06Speaker 1: the Raiders, the two kickoff returns, like they're starting to
- 28:10Speaker 1: pile up against you. Yes, yes, and you used to
- 28:13Speaker 1: be the team that blocked the punt, not got the
- 28:16Speaker 1: punts blocked like the little bit of magic. I mean,
- 28:18Speaker 1: you're just like, you can't tell me that Buffalo returning
- 28:21Speaker 1: the kick after everything that DeMar happened with Damar Hamlin,
- 28:25Speaker 1: all the questions of are they gonna play this game?
- 28:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's just one of that that's one of
- 28:29Speaker 1: the most craziest moments in NFL history right there, based
- 28:32Speaker 1: on everything that had happened and the great points though, Paul,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I mean, you're right, it's just and it's and I
- 28:36Speaker 1: don't want to tie it back to Aaron Rodgers a
- 28:39Speaker 1: little bit of just you know, it's like again like
- 28:40Speaker 1: other teams are starting to, you know, do these things.
- 28:43Speaker 1: And I hate again, I hate saying you just got
- 28:45Speaker 1: to make a move, to make a move for the
- 28:46Speaker 1: fan base. But at the same time, we're gonna feel
- 28:48Speaker 1: for every Patriots fans if the Jets sign Aaron Rodgers
- 28:51Speaker 1: and everybody who thinks exactly what you just laid out
- 28:54Speaker 1: that what what are we gonna do you know, are
- 28:56Speaker 1: we gonna are we gonna do? Like, are we gonna
- 28:57Speaker 1: wait till day two or three? And we're gonna fill
- 28:59Speaker 1: in some holes and you know, we're gonna go to
- 29:01Speaker 1: the draft, and you know, like I don't know, it's
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's it's a little bit it's a little bit daunting
- 29:06Speaker 1: right now as we get ready for free agency and
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm just hoping that there's you know, and and you know,
- 29:10Speaker 1: a trade for DeAndre Hopkins something like that that moves
- 29:12Speaker 1: my needle, that says, all right, you know, we're in it.
- 29:15Speaker 1: We see what these other teams are doing, and we
- 29:17Speaker 1: understand that, you know, just slow and steady isn't going
- 29:20Speaker 1: to win the race anymore. We need to be bold.
- 29:22Speaker 1: We need to make some moves so that we can
- 29:23Speaker 1: get this thing back on track like asap and not
- 29:26Speaker 1: you know, sit around and wait for Aaron Rodgers to
- 29:28Speaker 1: retire now, or to wait to get hurt, or you know,
- 29:30Speaker 1: Josh Allen to finally get hurt or you know, all
- 29:32Speaker 1: those things will happen. But I think, not to sound corny,
- 29:38Speaker 1: but I don't think the Patriots believe like they used
- 29:42Speaker 1: to anymore because of the quarterback, like when you had
- 29:45Speaker 1: Brady at twenty eight to three is like the quintessential
- 29:48Speaker 1: example of it. Like, when you had Brady, you always
- 29:51Speaker 1: knew there was a chance, like no matter what the
- 29:52Speaker 1: score was, no matter where you were playing, no matter
- 29:55Speaker 1: who was the quarterback on the other sideline. And I
- 29:57Speaker 1: think that that's infectious throughout the entire team to the
- 30:00Speaker 1: point where those comebacks happen, those moments happen because it's
- 30:05Speaker 1: not just Brady that is putting it on his back,
- 30:08Speaker 1: but the defense all of a sudden believes a little
- 30:10Speaker 1: bit more. In the offense believes a little bit more,
- 30:12Speaker 1: and Malcolm Butler believes a little bit more, or whatever
- 30:15Speaker 1: the case may be. And I just I feel like
- 30:18Speaker 1: right now at the Patriots, they need that move more so,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and everybody's going to point to the quarterback and we
- 30:24Speaker 1: can we can go to your Lamar Jackson rant whenever
- 30:26Speaker 1: you want, Mike, I know, I wanted to see him
- 30:28Speaker 1: up too yet and the only reason and you guys know,
- 30:32Speaker 1: like there's a lot of complicated elements to Lamar Jackson, Okay,
- 30:36Speaker 1: not the least of witches. That is, he's franchised and
- 30:38Speaker 1: it cause you to once, Okay, so I understand all
- 30:41Speaker 1: the things. But what I don't understand is how many people.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And this might be teeming Mike up to offer the
- 30:47Speaker 1: rebuttal on on behalf of the other people. I heard
- 30:51Speaker 1: this morning as I was driving in on Evan Show,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna call it Evan Show, what is it? What
- 30:55Speaker 1: is it? Because he appears on Toucher and oh all right,
- 30:57Speaker 1: he's got his own cup, right, so on on on
- 31:00Speaker 1: Evan's show, I'm listening to I think it's Ryan Johnston
- 31:03Speaker 1: filling in for Johnny ballgame, um John Wallack, and they're
- 31:09Speaker 1: going back and forth. They're talking without the arms race,
- 31:11Speaker 1: and if it's like, you know, God forbid, if Brady
- 31:13Speaker 1: comes out of retirement place for Miami, blah blah blah,
- 31:16Speaker 1: what are you gonna do? And then you know, somebody suggested, well,
- 31:21Speaker 1: you know, do you take another look at Lamar Jackson?
- 31:24Speaker 1: And Ryan Johnson's like, that's exactly what you shouldn't do,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Like you can't do stupid things like that. Again, I
- 31:30Speaker 1: completely understand how hard it would be to acquire Lamar Jackson.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I don't completely understand why it would be dismissed as
- 31:38Speaker 1: completely out of hand for a guy who's won as
- 31:40Speaker 1: much as Lamar Jackson is. Now this comes into movie.
- 31:43Speaker 1: He's got his rebuttal and that's and that's great. This
- 31:46Speaker 1: is why I think this is, you know, good for
- 31:49Speaker 1: us to talk o. But I just don't understand why
- 31:51Speaker 1: it would be stupid for the Patriots to think about
- 31:54Speaker 1: acquiring an established, high level quarterback who's available. Well, I'm
- 31:59Speaker 1: gonna Rashad Taut because he emailed in and uh and
- 32:02Speaker 1: I think he says some of the same points you do,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but I think he wrote it pretty well. As I
- 32:07Speaker 1: type this, it still amazes me that no one would
- 32:08Speaker 1: want a young former MVPQB who would bring you a
- 32:11Speaker 1: generation of young new fans, someone who wasn't surrounded by
- 32:14Speaker 1: good skill positions. And Greg Roman also didn't help. I
- 32:17Speaker 1: say all that to say, if I'm the Patriots, I'm
- 32:19Speaker 1: paying Lamar that money because it's gonna be seventy million
- 32:21Speaker 1: a year pretty soon. Trade the two first that wouldn't
- 32:23Speaker 1: even mean anything compared to Lamar, and trade Mac for
- 32:26Speaker 1: a top sixty pick. I'm hoping this doesn't get skipped
- 32:28Speaker 1: over today. Well it didn't, Rashad, We're going to use it.
- 32:32Speaker 1: He's a huge fan of Lamar and uh, go ahead.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I'll let you go first. I'm gonna listen as I
- 32:37Speaker 1: get another PEPSI because I'm going to enjoy this. I'm
- 32:40Speaker 1: gonna get up on the muting and and look. I First,
- 32:44Speaker 1: I will say I think he is phenomenally talented. I
- 32:46Speaker 1: just don't understand why he is the Golden Goose. That
- 32:49Speaker 1: if you don't love Lamar and want Lamar more than
- 32:52Speaker 1: anything in the world, that you're an idiot. I just like,
- 32:56Speaker 1: let's point out the guy's never started sixteen games in
- 32:58Speaker 1: a season, He's one in three in the playoffs, he's
- 33:01Speaker 1: lost the teams that went nowhere. I mean it's you know,
- 33:04Speaker 1: like I'm all for like awesome talent, and that's great,
- 33:09Speaker 1: But if I'm investing in a quarterback, I want to
- 33:11Speaker 1: feel like everywhere every year, I'm gonna be in it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a chance. Tom Brady, how many seasons
- 33:16Speaker 1: he played here, he got hurt one year. So if
- 33:19Speaker 1: I'm going to invest in a guy, I'm a little
- 33:21Speaker 1: bit I'm just saying there's a little bit of trepidation
- 33:23Speaker 1: on my part in terms of injury history, in terms
- 33:26Speaker 1: of what do I have to do for my offense
- 33:27Speaker 1: and I look at his playoff performance, and apparently against
- 33:31Speaker 1: these good defenses, it's not quite as great. Our completion
- 33:34Speaker 1: percentage drops from sixty three to fifty five. He's got
- 33:36Speaker 1: three touchdowns five interceptions in the playoffs. The two games
- 33:39Speaker 1: he ran for over one hundred and thirty hundred and
- 33:41Speaker 1: forty yards didn't matter. They were one and one. In
- 33:43Speaker 1: those games, he got sacked nineteen times in those four games.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Those are the twenty seventeen the Los Angeles Chargers, the
- 33:49Speaker 1: twenty or sorry twenty eighteen Chargers, the twenty nineteen Titans,
- 33:52Speaker 1: the twenty twenty Titans, and last year the Buffalo Bills.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So I look, I get it. He's amazing to watch
- 33:58Speaker 1: him when he's on and he's lit The Patriots up year,
- 34:00Speaker 1: they had no answer for him. I get it. I'm
- 34:02Speaker 1: just saying, is there any concern about this guy's ability
- 34:05Speaker 1: to stay healthy when I give him? When I'm going
- 34:07Speaker 1: to give him fifty million a year? Am I going
- 34:10Speaker 1: to get seventeen games out of him plus playoffs every
- 34:13Speaker 1: year for the next ten years, or am I gonna
- 34:15Speaker 1: just have to accept that, Well, hey, we'll probably get
- 34:18Speaker 1: a super Bowl in here somewhere on that one or
- 34:19Speaker 1: two years that he actually stays healthy and is ready
- 34:22Speaker 1: to go in the playoffs. That's that's what I gotta say.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'll let you go first. There's a whole lot of
- 34:27Speaker 1: QB wins in there. By the way, I'm just saying
- 34:30Speaker 1: forty five and sixteen. Forty five and sixteen is pretty good,
- 34:34Speaker 1: but we only focus on the one and three. Okay,
- 34:36Speaker 1: So but besides the fact that he's one of the
- 34:40Speaker 1: most dynamic players in the entire league, Like, I don't
- 34:42Speaker 1: even go on that rant yet, did you. I just
- 34:46Speaker 1: pulled it up because I wanted to make sure I
- 34:47Speaker 1: got this correctly, and I'm gonna read it to you.
- 34:49Speaker 1: So here was what the Denver Broncos traded for Russell Wilson,
- 34:54Speaker 1: who is significantly older than Lamar Jackson. Okay, they traded
- 34:59Speaker 1: Drew Locke, Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, two first round picks,
- 35:03Speaker 1: two second round picks, and a fifth round pick to
- 35:06Speaker 1: the Seahawks for Russell Wilson in the fourth round pick.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And you can get and gave him the bag and
- 35:13Speaker 1: gave him the bag, thank you, and gave him the bag.
- 35:16Speaker 1: And you can get Lamar Jackson, who is younger and
- 35:19Speaker 1: better than Russell Wilson for far less than that package.
- 35:24Speaker 1: And that's that's what I don't Two first round picks
- 35:26Speaker 1: for Lamar Jackson is not that bad. I don't understand
- 35:30Speaker 1: what the entire reaction is that two first round picks
- 35:34Speaker 1: for Lamar. Oh, we can't give up two for did
- 35:37Speaker 1: you just hear what the Broncos gave up for Russell Wilson?
- 35:41Speaker 1: And I won't even pull up the Deshaun Watson situation
- 35:43Speaker 1: and how all that went down. The fact that it's
- 35:48Speaker 1: too much for Lamar Jackson. Two first round picks is
- 35:51Speaker 1: a bargain for Lamar Jackson, an absolute bargain. So I
- 35:55Speaker 1: will say that I really liked the start of your rants.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Oh thank you, because I I wholeheartedly agree. Obviously, when
- 36:03Speaker 1: you agree with something, you really like him, right, So yeah,
- 36:05Speaker 1: we like just like everywhere egomaniacs, just like everybody else.
- 36:08Speaker 1: When you suggest, you know at the start, like, I
- 36:11Speaker 1: don't understand why it's silly that you're you're not necessarily
- 36:16Speaker 1: willing to go that far from Lamar Jackson. And I
- 36:19Speaker 1: totally understand. I know exactly what Baltimore is weighing right now,
- 36:24Speaker 1: and they have him, they know how good he is.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I would push back on some of the you learned
- 36:32Speaker 1: well from me because you use statistics to benefit your
- 36:34Speaker 1: own argument by saying he's never started sixteen games while
- 36:38Speaker 1: completely ignoring the fact that he sat out the last
- 36:42Speaker 1: game of the year yet completely healthy. Um the league MVP,
- 36:53Speaker 1: so Lamar Jackson, he's been injured that year the last
- 36:56Speaker 1: two years, Yes, he has been injured, and he missed
- 36:59Speaker 1: about a third of the games each of the last
- 37:01Speaker 1: two seasons. That to me is a major concern. And
- 37:04Speaker 1: there's no because of the way he plays like. I
- 37:06Speaker 1: don't think that he's going to be more rapt to
- 37:09Speaker 1: stay healthier. Well, you know, running the way he runs.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You gloss over forty five and sixteen. I'm sorry, this
- 37:17Speaker 1: is where I'm team Evan. There's not a lot of
- 37:21Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the league that win at that level. And also,
- 37:24Speaker 1: and I know that not every team gets to the
- 37:26Speaker 1: opportunity because the quarterback doesn't leave. But there's a lot
- 37:30Speaker 1: of starting quarterbacks that have left their lineups in recent
- 37:33Speaker 1: years and the teams haven't fallen apart. I think of
- 37:36Speaker 1: Drew Brees towards the end in New Orleans. I think
- 37:39Speaker 1: of Dak Prescott last year in Dallas Baltimore. Can't win
- 37:43Speaker 1: a game without this guy. Like two years ago, they
- 37:48Speaker 1: literally lost every one of them. They were like seven
- 37:51Speaker 1: and four when he got hurt, of seven and five
- 37:54Speaker 1: or something like that when he got hurt. Well, no,
- 37:56Speaker 1: I think they were eight and three and they lost out.
- 37:59Speaker 1: They went eight. This year, at least Huntley won a
- 38:02Speaker 1: couple of games, got them in the playoffs, and had
- 38:05Speaker 1: them competitive. But I think the difference is, like in
- 38:09Speaker 1: other words, it's not a great team. He makes the
- 38:13Speaker 1: team great and he I mean, his numbers are just insanity.
- 38:21Speaker 1: And I know he's never approached the passing that he
- 38:24Speaker 1: did in that MVP year, But I would be I
- 38:31Speaker 1: would if I was Miami Carolina, the Jets, Las Vegas.
- 38:36Speaker 1: I have no idea why the Jets won Aaron Rodgers
- 38:38Speaker 1: more than Lamar jack you know, the Jets. I would
- 38:41Speaker 1: be looking at my personnel and I'd be trying to
- 38:44Speaker 1: figure out how hard would it be for me to
- 38:46Speaker 1: transition a little bit to something more conducive to what
- 38:48Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson is comfortable in, And I would have no
- 38:52Speaker 1: problem with it. Like in other words, I'm probably a
- 38:54Speaker 1: no for the Patriots on Lamar Jackson, but not because
- 38:57Speaker 1: of Lamar Jackson's talent. That would be a ringing. Yes,
- 39:02Speaker 1: Like if I had an opportunity to get a top
- 39:05Speaker 1: sixty pick for Mac Jones and replace them with Lamar Jackson,
- 39:08Speaker 1: you do it. I you know what, I would do
- 39:12Speaker 1: a lot of driving to and from the airport. I
- 39:14Speaker 1: would drive back to the airport and be more than
- 39:16Speaker 1: willing to pick Lamar up to bring him back. I'm
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'm a Mac defender. I had fend the wall on
- 39:21Speaker 1: Mac and I would drive him to the airport. Sorry,
- 39:23Speaker 1: I love you, Mac, But like you know, this is
- 39:25Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson for talking about here. I just I understand
- 39:30Speaker 1: that for some teams like the Patriots, if you go
- 39:33Speaker 1: to the ball with Lamar Jackson and then the Ravens
- 39:36Speaker 1: match the offer. Now, what does Mac Jones say to
- 39:40Speaker 1: you right now? You're really stuck in a rock and
- 39:43Speaker 1: a hard place, just like the Falcons were last year
- 39:45Speaker 1: with Matt Ryan, for example. And I think that that's
- 39:48Speaker 1: part of it with sometimes you get in trade rumors
- 39:52Speaker 1: and sometimes but that that's part of you know why
- 39:56Speaker 1: I really get Madden. Like I like the way you
- 39:58Speaker 1: said it at the beginning of your ran, it's like,
- 40:00Speaker 1: you know what, you know, you're somehow chastised as being
- 40:03Speaker 1: either collusion with the with the good old boy owners
- 40:09Speaker 1: or worse, you know, collusions crowded in racism, you know,
- 40:13Speaker 1: because they're not interested. Whereas Evan just completely mapped out
- 40:16Speaker 1: another minority quarterback who was given the world to go
- 40:21Speaker 1: and poop the bed in Denver last year. Like no,
- 40:26Speaker 1: how quickly they forget, you know, when Cleveland and I
- 40:30Speaker 1: read this thing from Charles Robinson which was really interesting
- 40:33Speaker 1: from different agents given perspectives. When Cleveland decided to give
- 40:38Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson two hundred and forty million and guaranteed money,
- 40:41Speaker 1: everybody killed the Browns, Yeah, killed them. Now everybody's killing
- 40:46Speaker 1: Baltimore for not giving them two hundred and forty million
- 40:48Speaker 1: to match it. Yeah, and this is a guy who's
- 40:51Speaker 1: been injured a couple of times lately. Like, I just
- 40:53Speaker 1: don't understand. I love Lamar Jackson. I think he's terrific.
- 40:57Speaker 1: But if someone says, I don't think Lamar Jack's that good,
- 41:00Speaker 1: he's not that accomplished a passer, He's been injured the
- 41:03Speaker 1: last two years. He's gonna cost you two for us
- 41:05Speaker 1: round picks. And two hundred and fifty million and guaranteed money.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Those are all facts. Like, just because I think Lamar
- 41:12Speaker 1: Jackson's great and you think he's great but aren't willing
- 41:15Speaker 1: to do that, doesn't make you a collusion guy or worse. Yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 1: I just think that first of all, it's good business
- 41:23Speaker 1: for the Ravens to just franchise, tag him and play
- 41:25Speaker 1: the string out. It's bad business for them to just
- 41:28Speaker 1: hand him two hundred fifty million dollars just because they
- 41:30Speaker 1: feel like they absolutely have to. They have the control
- 41:33Speaker 1: in this situation, make a play. If he plays on
- 41:36Speaker 1: the on the franchise tag this year, that's the best case, right,
- 41:39Speaker 1: and then they can even franchising and tagging him again
- 41:41Speaker 1: next year is still a good deal for them, like
- 41:43Speaker 1: going to Kirk Cousins ground. But the one thing I'll
- 41:45Speaker 1: push back with on the injuries, I think if he
- 41:49Speaker 1: has the bad last year, he plays, especially in the playoffs.
- 41:52Speaker 1: And I understand that. You know, Mike, we were joking
- 41:54Speaker 1: about this. Yeah that Mike was like, sounds like a
- 41:57Speaker 1: team guy. Yeah, I don't want on my team, right,
- 42:00Speaker 1: But I was my snarky that was my starky thing.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I think last year for better Patriots, you don't want
- 42:05Speaker 1: it anymore then for better or worse. I think last
- 42:07Speaker 1: year not playing down the stretching in the playoffs was
- 42:09Speaker 1: a business decision for Lamar Jackson. I agree, and I
- 42:12Speaker 1: can't really fault him for it. You know, somebody that
- 42:16Speaker 1: he has so much on the line, and I think
- 42:19Speaker 1: that he looks at other guys. I always hate to
- 42:22Speaker 1: go to the poster child of this, but RG three,
- 42:24Speaker 1: right like, you just don't want to be the next
- 42:26Speaker 1: RG three and I and that's I think what's in
- 42:29Speaker 1: the back of his mind last year, where if I
- 42:31Speaker 1: play at seventy five percent and then blow up my
- 42:34Speaker 1: knee and now I just it's over. You're gonna be
- 42:36Speaker 1: doing HISPN the next year, right three? And the other
- 42:39Speaker 1: part of that too, you know, like what Evan's talking about,
- 42:42Speaker 1: it's so hard like everybody, I think everybody just wants
- 42:46Speaker 1: to make it so black and white. Well, they're clearly,
- 42:49Speaker 1: these these these old owners, they're all they're all colluding
- 42:53Speaker 1: and they're all you know, they don't want him because
- 42:54Speaker 1: he's he's black. Well, that's an easy convenient way to
- 42:57Speaker 1: look at it. And maybe I don't know, I don't
- 43:00Speaker 1: of these owners, maybe some of them feel like that.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I'm not telling you what's in someone's heart. Maybe they do.
- 43:05Speaker 1: But if you're in Miami, as an example, and you
- 43:09Speaker 1: publicly come out and say, like, to you a point,
- 43:11Speaker 1: you're going to sign them to an offer sheet, which
- 43:14Speaker 1: is a hard process. There's like one guy in the
- 43:16Speaker 1: history of the franchise tag who's been signed away, right,
- 43:20Speaker 1: that's Sean Gilbert in ninety eight. So if you do
- 43:25Speaker 1: that and then Baltimore matches, then you turn around and go, hey,
- 43:30Speaker 1: just kids love you a meeting, right, you're my guy.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Well that's why I think, like, that's what makes it
- 43:36Speaker 1: hard for these teams to publicly declare their desire for
- 43:38Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. And I don't buy for a second there's
- 43:41Speaker 1: no interest in Lamar Jackson, which is what came out
- 43:44Speaker 1: about five minutes after the franchise tag was announced on Tuesday.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Remember on Twitter, there wass just like carrying buckets of
- 43:52Speaker 1: water for the NFL. These five teams are already said
- 43:55Speaker 1: they're not interested. I don't believe that for a second. Yeah,
- 43:58Speaker 1: but I let's just say it to your point, Evan
- 43:59Speaker 1: about and there's no question Lamar Jackson looks favorable and
- 44:02Speaker 1: just about any light compared to what they gave Russell
- 44:04Speaker 1: Wilson and to Shaun Watson. But do you think that
- 44:06Speaker 1: this is in some ways more connected to just the
- 44:08Speaker 1: owners not wanting to make Deshaun Watson the new standard.
- 44:12Speaker 1: And if Lamar Jackson now builds off of what Deshaun
- 44:15Speaker 1: Watson got, they feel that there's no stop in this train? Now?
- 44:18Speaker 1: Is that part of it too? Because of that deal?
- 44:20Speaker 1: Just so tough with what the Giants just gave Daniel Jones,
- 44:24Speaker 1: who's half the player that Lamar Jackson. Why I look
- 44:26Speaker 1: at it is it's clearly that's the direction it's going.
- 44:28Speaker 1: So maybe you can put your foot in, you know,
- 44:31Speaker 1: put your foot down over this one, right, But eventually
- 44:33Speaker 1: it's happening anyway. Yeah, I mean the guaranteed money is
- 44:36Speaker 1: one thing. I guess, you know, I don't know if
- 44:37Speaker 1: any buddy will ever sign a fully guaranteed deal like
- 44:41Speaker 1: that again. But if you're gonna give Daniel Jones three
- 44:44Speaker 1: for one sixty and Lamar is, I mean, forget about it,
- 44:47Speaker 1: he's worth almost double. Probably. I think that's what I
- 44:51Speaker 1: would do, is I would if you don't want to
- 44:53Speaker 1: give him two hundred and fifty million guaranteed, then see
- 44:55Speaker 1: if will take a shorter term. That's what I would
- 44:57Speaker 1: do too, if I was a team like the Patriots
- 44:59Speaker 1: and I wanted to get into this dance. And again
- 45:01Speaker 1: I'm wary of the mac Jones thing too, Like that's
- 45:03Speaker 1: a big thing for me, Mac. I think Miami is
- 45:06Speaker 1: a great example to uh. If you're a team like
- 45:08Speaker 1: the Raiders who doesn't have a quarterback at all, then
- 45:11Speaker 1: Lamar is a perfect opportunity for you, Jets, Carolina, Right,
- 45:15Speaker 1: But these teams that have somebody like I'm not saying
- 45:18Speaker 1: mac Jones is the guy, but to have somebody exactly,
- 45:21Speaker 1: it's it's hard to do that. But if if I
- 45:24Speaker 1: was a team like the Patriots or any team, really,
- 45:26Speaker 1: I would offer him the fully guaranteed deal, but it
- 45:29Speaker 1: would be for three years, right, I'd offer him three
- 45:31Speaker 1: for one fifty fully guaranteed. That's what one of the
- 45:33Speaker 1: agents in the Charles Robinson piece today said, three three
- 45:38Speaker 1: year guaranteed, because then you know those three years you're
- 45:41Speaker 1: gonna get a damn good quarterback and then you're not
- 45:44Speaker 1: hitched to the wagon if his physical tools start to
- 45:47Speaker 1: decline four or five years down the line, you're not
- 45:51Speaker 1: married to him to the point where you can't get
- 45:53Speaker 1: you know, get out of it. At that point, can
- 45:55Speaker 1: we can we talk about that Daniel Jones deal for
- 45:57Speaker 1: a second. And we got some callers, and please, we
- 45:59Speaker 1: got great emails. We get to those probably after we
- 46:01Speaker 1: break for lunch. I just I gotta get this Daniel
- 46:03Speaker 1: Jones thing it just because I think it relates a
- 46:05Speaker 1: lot to where the Patriots are. And you know, it's
- 46:07Speaker 1: a guy that just you're not that impressed with, but
- 46:09Speaker 1: like you just you feel like you're married to him.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Like what are giants, fans, giants execs saying to themselves
- 46:15Speaker 1: right now about Daniel Jones That we think he's going
- 46:18Speaker 1: to take the next step and we're going to be
- 46:20Speaker 1: able to complete compete with this Eagles team that we
- 46:23Speaker 1: saw last year. It seems like all of a sudden,
- 46:24Speaker 1: they're just coming on and they're gonna be, you know,
- 46:26Speaker 1: good for a while. Like it's just such a hard
- 46:29Speaker 1: spot to be in. And like, on one hand, I'd
- 46:31Speaker 1: love to say, man, if you have just a middling
- 46:33Speaker 1: quarterback that you're like kind of fooling yourself that you're
- 46:36Speaker 1: believing that he's really going to be the guy and
- 46:37Speaker 1: really lead you to like a super Bowl and to
- 46:39Speaker 1: be a top five team. But he's your guy, and yeah,
- 46:42Speaker 1: he's probably better than tossing yourself back into the wins
- 46:45Speaker 1: of free agency in the draft and trying to get
- 46:47Speaker 1: a quarterback. Like how do you reconcile all that? You know?
- 46:51Speaker 1: It's just hard. It's like you wonder and and I
- 46:54Speaker 1: you know, and this year will say a lot about
- 46:56Speaker 1: mac and you know where he's at and if he's
- 46:58Speaker 1: kind of on that similar trajectory. But like, I just
- 47:01Speaker 1: having seen Daniel Jones what twice here over the last
- 47:03Speaker 1: few summers, like we saw him last year and or sorry,
- 47:07Speaker 1: last year of practice, Like I just know, like you're
- 47:09Speaker 1: never gonna go You're never getting like a super Bowl
- 47:12Speaker 1: with this guy, and you just handed him all this money,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Like like how do you how do you live with
- 47:16Speaker 1: how do you live with yourself? I don't know. It's
- 47:18Speaker 1: just such a commulicated thing. It's not to me, it's
- 47:22Speaker 1: it's it's what makes it really hard because I think
- 47:24Speaker 1: there are a lot of teams that probably have quarterbacks
- 47:26Speaker 1: that they feel like people feel about Daniel Jones like
- 47:30Speaker 1: he's my starter, He's fine, I can win games with them.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I can't win the super Bowl with them. I love
- 47:36Speaker 1: that in a press conference, you know, I mean I
- 47:39Speaker 1: think they're probably banking on a couple of things. I
- 47:41Speaker 1: think they're probably banking that year two of Dayble and
- 47:44Speaker 1: Jones might be even better. YEA. One thing and and
- 47:49Speaker 1: and the other thing is when you're a team like
- 47:52Speaker 1: the Giants, who's a good franchise, um they've been down
- 47:57Speaker 1: and finally had some success, you want to like intentionally
- 48:01Speaker 1: break it up. What do you want to say, because
- 48:04Speaker 1: you can we build to something a little bit bigger
- 48:07Speaker 1: if we take a half step back. Maybe, But like,
- 48:10Speaker 1: like I got an argue with my brother yesterday because
- 48:12Speaker 1: believe it or not, believe it or not, I don't
- 48:14Speaker 1: just argue with you, you bozos. I argue with my
- 48:16Speaker 1: brother on the way home. I feel like we have
- 48:18Speaker 1: a lot to blame on your brother for Oh he
- 48:20Speaker 1: did this, He totally rich, is totally responsible for this.
- 48:23Speaker 1: So he's like, you know, I'd rather have Derek Carr
- 48:27Speaker 1: and I would have done that, And I was like,
- 48:29Speaker 1: I like Derek Carr too. I like him, I don't
- 48:32Speaker 1: love him. I don't think much differently of Derek Carr
- 48:34Speaker 1: than Daniel Jones Derek Carr. I think he's probably a
- 48:39Speaker 1: better passer, better pure passer of the football, as they
- 48:42Speaker 1: like to say. But he's not as as much of
- 48:45Speaker 1: a threat to run as Daniel Jones. And I'm not
- 48:48Speaker 1: sure he's as tough as Daniel Joe. Daniel Jones ha
- 48:51Speaker 1: showed some toughness in New York. It's a tough place
- 48:53Speaker 1: to play. He's getting a crap kicked out of him
- 48:56Speaker 1: behind a terrible offensive line. If I got to give
- 49:00Speaker 1: those that's what my point, I guess is they both
- 49:04Speaker 1: cost like forty million. Yeah, like you're not getting it.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Like my rich said, he goes, you know, you know,
- 49:09Speaker 1: maybe like twenty five million ago. Well, you want to
- 49:11Speaker 1: be the Patriots, then you want to take these guys
- 49:13Speaker 1: and get them for the deal that you want. You
- 49:15Speaker 1: have no choice, But that's not an option. Like, yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 1: I'd rather have Tom Brady. It's twenty five million too,
- 49:20Speaker 1: that's not on the table anymore. Those guys cost fifty now, right, Yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 1: I mean I just look at it from a Patriots perspective.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I've been saying this since the Daniel Jones contract negotiations started.
- 49:30Speaker 1: I just watch out for what Daniel Jones gets, and
- 49:33Speaker 1: I get all of the Well Mac doesn't run as
- 49:35Speaker 1: well as Dan. Yeah, that's that's that's fair. But if
- 49:38Speaker 1: Mac Jones, if you take out wait a minute, if
- 49:41Speaker 1: you have to interrupt you for something, I have to
- 49:43Speaker 1: be rude. Sure, so you said watch out for what
- 49:45Speaker 1: Daniel Jones gets like this, Can I use them like
- 49:48Speaker 1: two weeks ago or a week ago longer? Yeah, I've
- 49:50Speaker 1: been saying a while, and Patriots fans came at you saying,
- 49:55Speaker 1: but Daniel Jones can run. Yes, these are the same people, Mike.
- 49:59Speaker 1: That's Mac Jones was already better than Daniel Jones two
- 50:03Speaker 1: years ago in training camp. But this is my point.
- 50:05Speaker 1: But this is my exact point. So if mac Jones
- 50:09Speaker 1: is rookie season and his third season end up being
- 50:13Speaker 1: what Mac Jones is with with the real offensive coordinated
- 50:15Speaker 1: in a real setup on offense, and year two ends
- 50:17Speaker 1: up being the outlier when his contract comes up, you're
- 50:20Speaker 1: looking at forty five million dollars a year for mac
- 50:23Speaker 1: Jones at least. Like, I'm sorry, question, that's that's what
- 50:26Speaker 1: the march is just a natural progression. It's not gonna
- 50:28Speaker 1: go backwards. Right, forget about the performance if he is
- 50:32Speaker 1: your starter, and you want him to be your starter
- 50:35Speaker 1: going forward after this year, and you want to resign
- 50:38Speaker 1: them and extend them. Now I don't think they will, right,
- 50:41Speaker 1: but if you want to, Evan is right, right, that's
- 50:44Speaker 1: what it's gonna cost. Yeah, if you if you if
- 50:47Speaker 1: mac Jones and two out of his three seasons has
- 50:49Speaker 1: respectable box score stats gets you to the playoffs in
- 50:53Speaker 1: two out of three years. Let's say they have a
- 50:55Speaker 1: big bounce back year this year, they win eleven games,
- 50:57Speaker 1: that gets to the divisional round and things are looking up,
- 51:00Speaker 1: then mac Jones is going to garner the Daniel Jones contract.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I think that's exactly that. If I was his agent,
- 51:08Speaker 1: that's exactly what I would say to the Patriots. I
- 51:10Speaker 1: would say, that's that's our floor. That's our floor for
- 51:14Speaker 1: an extension. And I'm not saying the Patriots, I would say,
- 51:16Speaker 1: because he would be buying a free agent year, so
- 51:20Speaker 1: maybe he gets a little bit less, but not much.
- 51:22Speaker 1: And I'm not saying the Patriots necessarily do that, But
- 51:26Speaker 1: that's that's the market Daniel Jones has set them. Because
- 51:29Speaker 1: that's not the deal that Derek Carr signed the last
- 51:31Speaker 1: offseason with the Raiders. This is a legitimate two and
- 51:34Speaker 1: a half year contract that Daniel Jones signed, two years
- 51:38Speaker 1: eighty two million in the first two seasons and a
- 51:40Speaker 1: little bit more an injury guarantee for the third season.
- 51:43Speaker 1: So this is a legitimate three year deal that Daniel
- 51:46Speaker 1: Jones signed, and that's going to be the going rate
- 51:49Speaker 1: for a Daniel Jones level quarterback. And I think Mac
- 51:52Speaker 1: Jones is right there with him. It's funny, like what
- 51:54Speaker 1: other industry do you have to pay a guy the
- 51:58Speaker 1: highest salary on your payroll and you really don't think
- 52:02Speaker 1: he can he can really do what you really truly
- 52:04Speaker 1: need him to do. You know, it's a great point
- 52:05Speaker 1: one of these things where but you got no choice.
- 52:07Speaker 1: You gotta pay him forty million. Now, is he gonna
- 52:09Speaker 1: get your super Bowl? Probably not, but that's what it
- 52:11Speaker 1: is so tough. It's a good question of is there
- 52:15Speaker 1: a school thought And this is like a deep offseason die,
- 52:18Speaker 1: but is there a school a thought of recycling quarterbacks
- 52:20Speaker 1: at some point? Like Smith right? Like is that gonna
- 52:23Speaker 1: give anybody? You know, everybody wants to develop the next
- 52:25Speaker 1: you know, it's the hot new thing. You'll get a
- 52:26Speaker 1: j Brown, Like, is anybody gonna try to tell you
- 52:29Speaker 1: sell the genial everything. It is a deep dive and
- 52:32Speaker 1: and I see the like the phone, the phone a
- 52:33Speaker 1: starting to stack up. But I would be absolutely and
- 52:36Speaker 1: fit because you know that I'm a little bit less
- 52:38Speaker 1: on the Mac Jones trained than most. That would be
- 52:42Speaker 1: exactly what I would do. I would say, I know
- 52:44Speaker 1: he's not the guy. I'm gonna get rid of him
- 52:47Speaker 1: and get probably another guy that I think I can
- 52:50Speaker 1: get for less than I would have to resign him.
- 52:54Speaker 1: All the while, every year I'm taking a swing in
- 52:56Speaker 1: the draft. Yeah, I'm gonna draft Hendon Hooker, I'm gonna
- 52:59Speaker 1: draft dtr I'm gonna draft somebody every year and just
- 53:03Speaker 1: have my fingers crossed so that can develop one. Yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think it's a terrible strategy. If
- 53:08Speaker 1: you feel like, like we keep saying that you have
- 53:10Speaker 1: a guy that's middling, that's not going to give you
- 53:12Speaker 1: the super Bowl but is not terrible, but you're not
- 53:15Speaker 1: gonna pay forty five million dollars a year, Like if
- 53:17Speaker 1: the Patriots in two years decide that somebody in the
- 53:20Speaker 1: draft is just Mac Jones and we're just gonna start
- 53:23Speaker 1: it over on the clock and the rookie deal and
- 53:25Speaker 1: maybe he ends up having a little bit more upside
- 53:28Speaker 1: out of nowhere something like, I don't know if Mac
- 53:32Speaker 1: is you know basically what he's been for two years,
- 53:36Speaker 1: and that's he's not gonna get any better than that, right,
- 53:39Speaker 1: So if that happens, I mean, how many fewer wins
- 53:45Speaker 1: would you have if Andy Dalton was the quarterback and
- 53:49Speaker 1: you can get Andy Dalton for a fraction of what
- 53:51Speaker 1: it's going to cost you to resign Matt Jones? Yeah right,
- 53:55Speaker 1: I'm not you know, you know where I stand on this,
- 53:57Speaker 1: but like, how much fewer wins they have with Bailey Zappy? Right?
- 54:02Speaker 1: I didn't use Zappy on purpose because I know how
- 54:04Speaker 1: you felt about it. No. The reason why I'm coming
- 54:07Speaker 1: around to things like this is I just can't stomach
- 54:11Speaker 1: at the moment giving Mac Jones forty five million dollars.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Just can't. On my show, Jim Murray is a big
- 54:17Speaker 1: fan of just just keep drafting, right, And they make
- 54:21Speaker 1: fun of him. Two of them make fun Mike and
- 54:23Speaker 1: Tony constantly make fun of him for it. I don't
- 54:25Speaker 1: think he's wrong, No, Like, and this is again, if
- 54:28Speaker 1: you if you have confidence in Mac Jones. Then that
- 54:32Speaker 1: that changes the whole thing. That means you are prepared
- 54:34Speaker 1: to give him forty plus million dollars and you're okay
- 54:37Speaker 1: with it because you think he's ascending. The coaches, Noah,
- 54:40Speaker 1: hell of a lot more about football than I ever will.
- 54:43Speaker 1: So if they think he's ascending, that's the move that
- 54:46Speaker 1: they make. Yeah fine, But if they don't, if they think,
- 54:49Speaker 1: like what Evan's talking about, why not pull back on that?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Bringing just some random Bridge guy who you know, Drew Locke,
- 54:58Speaker 1: you know, someone who hasn't really played at all. And
- 55:01Speaker 1: maybe it's Geno. Maybe it happens like, what's the difference
- 55:03Speaker 1: between the amount of whins you're gonna have? Yeah, like
- 55:05Speaker 1: Geno Smith. You're not gonna go anywhere with Gino Smith.
- 55:08Speaker 1: You're gonna win eight or nine games. That's all you're
- 55:11Speaker 1: gonna win with Mac Jones, Right, so I can save
- 55:14Speaker 1: a ton of money. Now you can't do that with
- 55:15Speaker 1: Gino Smith anymore. But yeah, just Smith got the bag.
- 55:20Speaker 1: I don't think that's a dumb way of looking at it.
- 55:23Speaker 1: You just I mean you brought it home from me, Paul,
- 55:24Speaker 1: because that's that's what it is. I'm like, and as
- 55:26Speaker 1: a fan. I want to say, if I'm a Giants fan, like,
- 55:29Speaker 1: don't sell me on this Daniel Jones contract unless you
- 55:32Speaker 1: guys really believe that he is the guy that's just
- 55:35Speaker 1: that whole stable thing. I have a ton of respect
- 55:37Speaker 1: and it's probably it's personal, yeah, Like I just love
- 55:40Speaker 1: the guy. I mean, you guys just got back from
- 55:43Speaker 1: the combine. I can't tell you how many years Brian
- 55:46Speaker 1: Dabel chewed my ear off sitting next to me on
- 55:48Speaker 1: the on the plane back from the combine. Like, I
- 55:50Speaker 1: really like the guy. Yea, So maybe I'm clouded by that.
- 55:53Speaker 1: I will wholeheartedly I like him to accept that. I
- 55:57Speaker 1: think that he really was instrumental in doing what Josh
- 56:01Speaker 1: Allen has come, you know, turning. That's why I'm just
- 56:04Speaker 1: so shocked that he's hitching his wagon right for right now,
- 56:07Speaker 1: at least to Daniel Jones, because I just look in
- 56:09Speaker 1: this draft and I think that this will happen with
- 56:11Speaker 1: every draft, like the Anthony Richardson types. It's like, if
- 56:14Speaker 1: Brian Dabele can make Josh Allen into Josh Allen, how
- 56:17Speaker 1: does he not look at a guy like Anthony Richardson
- 56:19Speaker 1: and be like, oh, I'll turn him into Josh Allen. Right,
- 56:22Speaker 1: I just don't understand you see, and I'm not telling
- 56:25Speaker 1: you this is the same, So don't don't attack. I
- 56:28Speaker 1: might attack kidding. I think Daniel Jones has a lot
- 56:32Speaker 1: of qualities that Josh Allen had. I think he's got
- 56:34Speaker 1: good size. I think he has good mobility. I think
- 56:36Speaker 1: he has a good arm, not Josh Allen's arm. I
- 56:39Speaker 1: don't think there's a lot of guys dollars store Josh Allen.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Maybe maybe, but like, it wouldn't stun me if in
- 56:45Speaker 1: two years we're looking at us like, wow, Brian Dabele
- 56:49Speaker 1: turned Daniel Jones into a reasonably competent top third of
- 56:53Speaker 1: the league quarterback. What is that top twelve quarterback? Yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 1: it wouldn't stun me. And I don't like to angel John.
- 57:00Speaker 1: I'm on right, I don't what I've seen. I'm not
- 57:02Speaker 1: impressed with. I thought last year all he does is run.
- 57:05Speaker 1: He doesn't do doesn't do it for me as a passer.
- 57:07Speaker 1: It's an interesting contrast, though, to look at what Josh
- 57:09Speaker 1: did with the Raiders, and I mean not totally same situation,
- 57:13Speaker 1: but still an offensive kind of guru who comes in
- 57:16Speaker 1: inherits a quarterback Giants went extended. Dana Jones, Josh is like,
- 57:21Speaker 1: you're out, I'm gonna I'm gonna jump back into the mix,
- 57:23Speaker 1: and who knows, maybe he goes for Anthony Richardson. Who Uh,
- 57:27Speaker 1: that's gonna be fascinating to see what they do. Let's
- 57:30Speaker 1: jump to the phones. Hey, Patty, I'm sorry for making
- 57:32Speaker 1: you hold on for so long. We really got into
- 57:34Speaker 1: it here about these contracts. No, I love it um
- 57:39Speaker 1: and it kind of goes to where I'm gonna go
- 57:42Speaker 1: and and I will get eventually get to the quarterback point.
- 57:45Speaker 1: But what I wanted to say is if you will
- 57:49Speaker 1: damp like what happened in the twenty eighteen at the
- 57:52Speaker 1: top of the round of the in the twenty eighteen
- 57:54Speaker 1: and twenty nineteen drafts. Right now, this team, but our
- 57:58Speaker 1: beloved Patriots, are feeling the ripple of xun missing on
- 58:01Speaker 1: three three guys that are arguably the three biggest needs
- 58:05Speaker 1: right now. You know, side that cornerbacks with John Williams,
- 58:08Speaker 1: left tackle with who I would argue probably the biggest
- 58:12Speaker 1: buston and Dag and Pail Belichick's drafting history, Isaiah Wins
- 58:17Speaker 1: and the Kiel Harry you know, and and just look
- 58:20Speaker 1: at look at where the team is at right now.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I mean, those are three big boys that you're not
- 58:24Speaker 1: gonna cosensibly fill in the draft in one year in
- 58:29Speaker 1: the draft. This year you might be able to fill
- 58:32Speaker 1: two with free agency in the draft. But man, I'm
- 58:36Speaker 1: I hope beyond hope that this year because I'll call
- 58:41Speaker 1: last year a watch. I still don't know what mac
- 58:43Speaker 1: Jones is and I know that you know, half the
- 58:46Speaker 1: fan base probably isn't a big believer in them. But
- 58:49Speaker 1: the things I wanted to see him accomplished last year
- 58:51Speaker 1: I really want to see. I want to see him
- 58:54Speaker 1: like win games, put the team on his back in
- 58:57Speaker 1: a few games and come from behind and steal a
- 59:00Speaker 1: gamer two that they're not supposed to win, and just
- 59:03Speaker 1: show that like, hey, maybe you know, maybe this guy's
- 59:06Speaker 1: going to be really good and maybe he has room
- 59:08Speaker 1: to grow. Because I really don't want to go back
- 59:11Speaker 1: into the quarterback carousel because we've seen it. I mean,
- 59:14Speaker 1: you could get like the biggest, highly talented rookie. You're
- 59:18Speaker 1: you're not winning a Super Bowl with a rookie quarterback,
- 59:20Speaker 1: so you're you're really putting your team behind like three
- 59:23Speaker 1: or four years if you have to go back into
- 59:25Speaker 1: that quarterback herisself. And that's all I got. Great conversation guys,
- 59:30Speaker 1: as always, Patriot sun filter is the best, um and
- 59:35Speaker 1: catch twenty two is number two. Thanks Patty, Thanks Patty,
- 59:37Speaker 1: appreciate it is. They win biggest draft bus though, Patty,
- 59:40Speaker 1: I think that's a little especially when he says Nikhil
- 59:42Speaker 1: Harry in the next year, but um, yeah, the whole Like, yeah,
- 59:46Speaker 1: I think it'd be awfully difficult for a rookie quarterback
- 59:50Speaker 1: to win. But I don't know why we have to
- 59:51Speaker 1: go from that. So it's three or four years, So
- 59:53Speaker 1: why can't it be great by year two? Yeah? Joe Burrow, right, Yeah,
- 59:56Speaker 1: you're Patrick Holmes, Joe Burrow, Ben Roethlisberger. I mean year three.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I mean at the moment there were there were guys
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: that are that that have a lot of success young. Yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: like it doesn't have to be year four, year five. Yeah,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I I it's impossible to disagree with the main point though,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: if those drafts, those high round draft picks in that area,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you are reaping what you sewed right now and those
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: years right. Yeah, that's his larger point and he and
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: he nails that. We've talked about it many times. And
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I think the whole thing with the quarterbacks is, Yeah,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: if you're asking me, what would I rather do? Would
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: rather have to draft somebody every year? No, I'd rather
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: have Mac Jones making an enormous leap this year, show
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: everybody that I personally and completely wrong. And he's a
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: guy that can throw forty two touchdowns and in eight
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: picks and be the reason that your offense is dominant. Yeah,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: if that's that's the preferred road, you don't want to
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: have to do the Evan and Paul thing where you're
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: signing some quarterbacks. Just here. He's all in on this
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: this idea too. But joanilliam is an interesting one because
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: this entire draft process, I've been don't draft the next Juan, Like,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: try to avoid that right at all costs. Let's try
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: to avoid that. And I think the biggest thing that
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I can point to with Juwan Williams, and it showed
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: up on film, but it's just the easiest tangible ways
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: the forty time right, we're in in the low four sixes,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: which is too slow to play corner in the NFL.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: That was a classic Paul Andy disagreement on the draft.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: And I won yeah, too slow to play corners. So
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: a guy like Julius Brent's who I think everybody really
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: likes for the Patriots from case day, right in the
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: low four fives. So yeah, it's only a tenth of
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: a second, but that tenth of a second matters, Like
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: that's that's the difference between being there at the catch
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: point and not being there at the catch point. So
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I think that's a big thing. If you're looking at
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: these bigger corners, don't draft a four six corner right
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: like they did draft the guys that can run. I'm
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: not your draft slow corner. That's yeah, that's a little
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: tip up. We're gonna take We're gonna grab Matthew in
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Nebraska here before we take a quick break for lunch. Hello, Matthew,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: what's going on? Hey? How you guys? John Great. I'm
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: gonna take a shift away from what you guys him
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: talking about, just gonna get your thoughts on a hello, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: we're here, you're on there. I just want to give
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: your thoughts on a wider, steeper coming out of Nebraska.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: It's Tray Palmer. Oh. I like him, the guy that
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: i've kind of watched a little bit as he's played
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: here and he did pretty well last season and kind
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: of have to see him go. But he's kind of
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I don't know if you kind of equate him to
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Taykwon Thornton. He's fast, yeah, so I just don't know
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: if you have done much researching to see if he
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: has did. It was in my first mock I grabbed.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I grabbed him. I like, I mean as a late
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: round kind of thanks for my Matthew, appreciate um, you know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: speed a little bit bigger smart of slot out of
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: you know, speed out of the slot. Yeah, you're a
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: little bit of concern. I think with his Senior Bowl week,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: he didn't didn't like wow me with separation and one
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: on ones. And that's that's the type of if you're
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: going to be a good receiver, like you'd like to
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: hope to think that in a one on one drill
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: in practice that you can get open a little bit.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: He got to open on the vertical plane, but I
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: didn't see a ton of horizontal separation. I just think
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: that I like him as a player, as a mid
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: round guy that you just take a flyer on in
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: the fourth or fifth round. No problem with that whatsoever.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: But I do think that you'd like to aim a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: little bit higher. If you're the Patriots. Then if they
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: go out and they trade for DeAndre Hopkins and they
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: draft Trey Palmer in the end of the fourth round,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I'm not going to complain, Like, I'm not going to
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: say that that was a bad I'm pack him in
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: the third and tell us he's going to be he's
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: the guy. Yeah, right, Uh, what do you think, Paul?
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: You want to you can take Let's clear the board here,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: let's clear the board. I got Mark out in Bolton. Hey, Mark, Oh, hey, guys,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: um As, Paul always been in on Tremaine Edemands as
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: my number one free agency sign signing, So I'm with
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Evan on that one. Um. I'm also making the case
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: for Juwan Taylor at right tackle because of his pass blocking,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: his run blocking is definitely lacking. So my question for
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Evan is, you know, with Clem's emphasis on violence in
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: his teaching philosophy, can he improve Taylor in the run
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: game or is it more game more about want too technique.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I definitely think it's more about want too in some respects.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I mean, run blocking is a mentality like running the
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: football in general. Is a mentality. It's one of the
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: old The only like old football tropes that I still
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: think is true is that running the football is Jowan Taylor.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: He nailed it though a really high level pass protector,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: not a people mover in the run game. I think
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: he could get there with some technical stuff. When you
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: look at run game, it's always hand placement and pad level,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Like if you don't if you're not the lowest guy
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: at the point of attack, then you're not going to
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: move people off the line of scrimmage. I think that's
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: probably his biggest problem. But I look at them, they're
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: types right at left and right tackle. Typically the pass
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: blockers they like to play at left tackle, and the
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: guys that are the bulldozers play on the right side.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: So if they stick to that mold, then I don't
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: know if Taylor is necessarily their their right tackle that
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: they would like. But he's got thirty five inch arms,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: he's got to build it in the feet to play
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: on the left side. I don't love signing a guy
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: to a big contract and then flipping him immediately, but
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: if you feel like maybe he's a better a bet
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: for you in your scheme at left tackle, it's I
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: like the player, so I would be fine with them
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: bringing him in. I would be interested to see how
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: they they change things up if they don't want him
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: to if they want to play him at right tackle
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: and he's not the bulldozer type, how do they change
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: it up or if they switch him? All right, let's
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: grab one more here before we take a break for lunch.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Mike from Puerto Rico. Hey, Mike, Hey, guys, how are
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you doing? Good? Good a friend? Not around? No? Not today? Sorry?
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: You gonna talk to Duce? Okay? So who sorry you?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I hear? Evan is al Yeah, we got Mike, Evan
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: and Paul. Okay. Um, I have to do some m
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: this is off topic, um, offseason topic. Nice, but I
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: have to do conduct some interviews next week for an
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: employee hire. And I heard some of the conversation last
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: week the podcast about Fred's success with hiring and people
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: that have been and no, but I wanted to ask y'all,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: if who what was the the interview question that you
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: felt was the most effective during your process when you
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: were interviewed. Um, so I'm guessing I believe Paul, you
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: were interviewed by Fred. I was and then for Duson
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: and Evan who interviewed you guys. Yeah, I was. I
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: was with Fred and Matt, and then I guess Evan
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: was with the three of us. It was like, yeah,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: well you at first and then and then the in
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: person was with all three of you. Yeah, I blame
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Mike for you saw Mike's fault. I don't what do
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: you think which question out of that interview process which
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: you interviewed for you found the most effective? Yeah, I
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: don't remember. I don't. I wish I had something for you, Mike.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: It was twenty four years ago. All I remember is
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: the staying on Fred's shirt. He had like a T
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: shirt on with a stain on it. I'll bring I'll
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: bring one up, just um. And I don't know if
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: this was the best one, but it was just when
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I remember it was, Fred said, how are you with
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: hearing the word no? And by that point I had
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: worked in Hollywood for thirteen years, and I said, I'm
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: waiting here, Yes, I'm all I hear is no? So
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I have no problem or no. But that was, you know,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: just one for me, And that's you know something I
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: think that anybody where you're trying to pitch ideas and
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: creative and get things going that you know, not everything's
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: going to check every My interview was similar to when
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: we spoke with Evan, just coming from sort of the
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: mainstream media to the team media. That's a lot of
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: my questions were based on that, and I know, in
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: being part of Evan's process, we talked a lot about that. Yeah,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: that was what I was going to say. It was
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: just how do we take what I was already doing
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: my past job and package it to be doing it here.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I think because you and I had already known each
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: other so well that it wasn't so much of getting
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: to know your game. It was more about already knew you,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: this is what this is what you're good at. How
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: do we make that work as an in house media
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: reporter now instead of somebody else. That's why we had
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: we had Mike come in to do a radio show.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: When we hired Mike, he was sitting right there. I
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: was asking about a sophomore in hot corner. That was uh,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: that was cool. I mean it was with the great,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: the great Paul Pearl and Fred Kirschen, Eric Scalovino, and
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Megan Bryan. I couldn't believe it. Uh, thanks Mike for
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: the question. Uh, but yeah, we're still trying. Evan Evan
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: still he had a taste of the real journalism, and
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: it's it's still inside of him of like it is,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: you know, but like and that's why I felt like
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: He and I talked a lot at his because I
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: remember back and one of the first things I asked
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Fred was, let's just say, for argument's sake, I find
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: out that Pete Carroll's getting fired, how do how you know?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: What do we do? When? How do we proceed with that?
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: You know? And that was basically, you know, I was
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: still short of mouth, you know, delusions of grandeur of
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: you know, like being the only one that would know
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: something like that, but I was sort of not eve
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: still um coming from the Herald. I just wanted to know,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: you know, can I still be a reporter? Basically yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: And the answer was now, Yeah, we were just talking
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: about this because usually I I have a source that
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: gets me the picks early for the draft, so sometimes
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I have tipped picks in the past on Twitter, so
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: kind of the same thing. If we're Jeff how keep Yeah, well,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: we're at least wondering because we obviously can see them too.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: But now it's like, all right, who's gonna get it first?
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Because those are the worst moments on the Draft show
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: is when like being cold, strange and you're like, oh
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: and you know it's about to happen, and what page
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: I keep driving? All right, that's gonna do it for
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: us for a moment. We're gonna just grab some lunch

- 1:16:13Speaker 1: They take time to enjoy themselves, like getting together the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: friends over Michelope Ultra, because they know that happiness is
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: the key to winning, and that joy is the whole game,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: not just the end game. Michelope Ultra ninety five calories,

- 1:19:05Speaker 1: great moments in history sometimes like that was a regular argument.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: That was fine, Yeah, but there are times that we
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: get like sort of upset, we start yelling and it's
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: not really I don't think it's the best moments of
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: the show. If you're yelling over each other as a listener,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: you you literally can't hear what people are saying. There
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: were times I know this is going to surprise some people.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: But when I haven't argument with you that, I'm embarrassed
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: about it afterwards, Wow, you should and I don't necessarily.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I don't necessarily. Actually I'm surprised. I can't believe I'm
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: losing to this guy. That's another great moment from all Right,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: we're back here on Patriots Unfiltered, And wow, that was
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: a quick first I guess seventy minutes on just free
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: agency quarterbacks. I mean it's just such topical stuff. And
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: you know how to compete and win in the NFL
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: long term. I mean, there's no set way to do it.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: But man, also, that's why the off season shows. I
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: think you're better. Yeah, I love the off season. You
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: never except when you don't talk about football. Oh yeah,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: I mean you like talking about football in the off seas.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: So I was, Tim, we don't talk about football? Well yeah,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: one friends here, Um that was I was talking about
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: the shows in the off season yesterday in my area
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: down in casp in the in the basement, and I was, yeah,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: and I we'd like to call it the bowels of
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: the organization. Um, And I was doing my my event
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: when we were talking about like soap with a slot
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: zone out, I might just come on for an hour
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: for those let me know when this one passes. Yeah,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: we're not a soap on the slot comes up, you
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: can just check out and uh and I also, so
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: you guys got Catch twenty two come up, so you know,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: stay tuned. And um, I told I told Matt, when
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Barth gets here, would just have him in because I
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: want to. I want to pick his brain a little.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: I want to see where Barth's at with he would
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: love to have our court back recycle, quarterback conversation. That's
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: what I'd like to get. You will call in and
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: yell at us about how wrong we are'll be great,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: which we could be. Yeah, yeah, which we could be.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: It won't be the first for me, that's for sure.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: But do you think there's a chance, Um, well, what
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: do you think the chances are? Obviously there is a chance.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: What do you think the chances are that we're looking
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: at an entirely new speaking of Catch twenty two, an
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: entirely new set of specialists. That's that's definitely a bath question.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: We gotta you gotta team up on that one. So
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: um you know hi? Uh the six one seven? As
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: a question, what are the chances Alex that we have
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: an entirely new set of special team because can I
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: get that in? I don't know how long do you have?
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I don't think any Thanks, I hang up and listen,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: go out and get it. I have heard, I have seen,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: I should say, a couple of mocks that have uh,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: not just a kicker, but a punter as well. And
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: I mean there is a chance that Cardona doesn't come back.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I think you probably will. But I wouldn't that be
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: crazy if they just signed that Tucker Addington guy and
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: like how we had something going here broing from Navy
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: and then what happens? It seemed like forever and then
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: the other guy the same exactly the same as it was.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: How dare you, Paul? How dare you? The punter kicker
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: thing is is legit? I'm not. I'm actually not being facetious,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: like that's a day three legit need and mocked off
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: one point zero. I had Jake Moody, the kicker from Michigan.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Who have the other guy that everybody's on? No, no, no,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: So now in mock draft two point out, I put
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: my top punter in two point out. So I went
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: kicker in the first one, punter in the second one.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: That's a protease. I'm not going to tell you who
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: it is. Yeah, you have to tune into You'll have
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: to check it out on the Bobby. So I should
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: say too, we're gonna I think we'll give it away
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: a T shirt today. And there have been people preemptively
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: writing in answers and such. Could just give an answer
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: to questions we have a postures. This is great from Chutters,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: you know fan of the show. Um, he just answered
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Gino's piece, just taking kimble on what today's question might
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: be to get my answer in ahead of time. That's good.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: So I don't know, Chutters, you know you're a pretty
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: big fan. I don't know. We might have to put
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: you on the list anyway to send a T shirt. Um,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: but why don't we do that in a few minutes.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Why don't we say, like one thirty, you know, about
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: about five minutes, we'll get some calls and some emails done,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: get on top of those, and then uh, we'll give
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: away a T shirt with some kind of PU trivia post.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Mike is like a little frazzled. Here, we're gonna, we're gonna,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: we're gonna look at this email and we're gonna go inside.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: We're gonna go outside. All right, let's go up to Canada. Hey,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: it's Sean. Hey Sean, are you doing? Hey, guys, how's
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: it going? You know? I was never huge into college,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: but in twenty and fifteen I happened to watch Louisville
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: and I fell in love with Jackson. I couldn't wait
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: for him to come to the NFL. And then when
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: he was on the board in the first round instead
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: of when I wanted him. And then it was again
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: on the board instead of Michelle, I wanted him. And
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I think he's great. I love him, but I don't
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: think he's right for the Patriots. I think, I mean,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: at this point, you're not a team that's a playoff team,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: and it would be a waste to to go after him.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: You're gonna have to pay them a lot. You won't
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: have money for other needs, and you have a lot
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: of needs. So the best thing to do at this
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: point is to try and put your investments to protect
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Mac and give them some weapons and let's see if
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: he's for real, Because um, you know if Patty said,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: we don't know, we have to find out, that's our
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: number one goal. All right, That's all I got. It is,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: thank you, Sean, appreciate. I mean, I think that the
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: last part of what he said is probably the sound
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: way to go about it. But don't you think they'd
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: be a playoff team with lamar Ja? Yeah? They were
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: one went away from a playoff team last year exactly.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: And I also just me and Potter and Lockstep on
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: the cap thing, like, don't give me that they wouldn't
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: have money to go out and upgrade the rest of
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: the roster. They would have. Here's where I like, I
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: do separate them because I do recognize they would absolutely
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: have cap space to do whatever they wanted, which you're seeing. Oh,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: by the way, I haven't seen as many snarky people
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: asking me about cap when I'm reading about so and
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: so restructured is saving them eighteen million on the cap
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: so and so restructured. That's why it's a fake cap.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: That's why the cap is crap, because there are countless
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: ways to get Felger's napkin out and do the salary
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: cap to get in compliance when you don't want the player,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: which evidently the Jets don't care about Braxton Barrios. You
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: try to get him to restructure, he says no. When
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: you say see you buy and you say five million,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: yeah right there, like just like that. But the money
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: to me is, you know, if if they had to
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: give them, say a cash outlay and some of the
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: This is interesting too about the whole guarantee thing and
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: that I forget what the actual percentage is, but when
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: you guarantee your contract, the owner has to put that
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: money in escrow for it. Got like the cash and
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: for Deshaun Watson, something like one hundred and eighty million
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: that needs to be sitting in like NFL coffers, you know,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: like by September. Right. I had this explain to me,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: but as usual, there was math involved, so I was
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: checked out. I was swimming upstream and had no idea
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: what I was listening to. But I had this explain
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: to me by people in finance, and they talked about
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: some of those things and what they mean, and I
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: think that might be a deterrent, you know, as much
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: as the actual cash outlay. Not everybody just has like
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty million to say, oh oh, here
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: you go. It's like, you know, me, I can pay
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: you know, I can't pay three hundred and fifty thousand
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: dollars from my house, but I can pay a couple
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: of thousand dollars per month every month for thirty years
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: to get it right, you know. And a lot of
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: owners are like that, with a lot of zeros added
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: on to the end. They have the money to pay
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: for their franchise, obviously, but not necessarily to just say
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: here you go. It's the whole Yeah, that's a totally
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: fair point. And I should preface it by saying, I
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: don't think that the Patriots are going to pay Lamar
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Jackson and then go out there and spend one hundred
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: million dollars free ag Right, that's on top of it, right, Like,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: I don't think that. But in terms of filling holes,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: if you get a quarterback like Lamar Jackson, you hope
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: that he fills some of those holes for you, Right, Like,
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: all of a sudden, your offensive line being maybe really
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: good at run blocking but not so good at pass
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: blocking isn't as a bit of a deal because he
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: got Lamar Jackson running around back there now instead of
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: a sitting duck. No, offense, and so I think that
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: you look at those types of things and and uh,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: you hope, just like Brady did here for years that Okay,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: maybe our roster isn't as good over here, but we
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: have the MVP of the league playing quarterback, so it
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: doesn't make up as much of a of a big deal,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: you know, as it does. Now. All right, let's rittle
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: through a few emails because they're they've been coming in.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Appreciate everybody at the time that I can start making
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: fun of Fred. He looks like he has important people
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: with him. So we won't do it now, we we
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: just we know the shows shows doing a lot better
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: today without Fred dragging us down. Quick one here from
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Alex from Connecticut. Um, Evan, this is a simple one
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: for us here, well, I mean all of us. I
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: don't know why I just said, Evan, it's not x
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: is and O thing. Um, it's not about football. So
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: my question ran away and it's not. This is actually
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: soap it's happening, and this is where I came up
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: with it, right here in the studio. Um. So I
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: simple question, though, and I think it's a good one.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Not just would you rather the Patriots trade for a
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: stud receiver and draft to tackle or sign a solid,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: solidified starting tackle and draft a receiver. He says that fourteen,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Someone like Jazz said, but you know, just generally, do
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: you have a feel for that, like, you know, do
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: you have a preference, because I kind of feel like,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I mean, there's there's pluses and cons for both. I mean, certainly,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: with a young rookie receiver on a contract that you know,
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: you got him for four years at that price, you're
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: gonna have to pay a lot more to get that,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: you know, proven veteran receiver. But is money equal? Money's equal.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I'd rather have the free agent receiver then. But that's
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: easy to say without knowing exactly who it is. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: I think that's always It makes these hypotheticals tough for me.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: It's who is it that we're talking about? But I
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: don't know. I go back and forth on the tackles
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: because I do look at the free agent crop of
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: tackles and there's some really intriguing names there on this
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: list of Orlando Brown now not franchise tagged McGlinchey, Caleb McGarry,
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Juwan Taylor. I think these are all guys that are upgrades,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: plug and play. Let's go, you know, at one of
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: those two tackle spots. And I think that if you
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: do that, then maybe in the draft you do free
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: up that fourteenth overall pick to go wide receiver, to
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: go best player available and not get caught in having
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: to take a tackle. I think some of the issues
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: that they've had over the last couple of years in
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: the draft that it's been better. But last year I
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: think is the perfect because they were caught and having
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: to take a guard, or at least they felt that way.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: I don't think they were, but that's how they felt.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: So that's how you end up getting cold strange is
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: because they needed a guard and he was the best
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: guard available. I would just answer it by saying that
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: if you're asking me, would I rather pick twenty million
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: a year for a tackle, which is going to cost
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: you to get one of these, you know, maybe fifteen
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: for a guy like McGlinchey, right, but um or twenty
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: million for a wide receiver. I'll take the wide receiver.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: But I need you know, like it can't just be
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: like I don't want to pay Brandon Cooks twenty million,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: but I'll pay te Higgins twenty million. You know what
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: I mean, it needs to be a receiver of you know,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: some level. I do love JSN. I do love him.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I mean, he's a lot of people saying he's not
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: going to be around at fourteen. Now I don't know
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: about that, Like I no, I don't, I don't know.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I mean, I don't see the burst to pull away.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: But he's quick. I'm to the point now where my
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: draft analysis is nowhere. Obviously it's nowhere near where you
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: guys just came back from. But I now have definitively
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: from the people that I've been reading somewhere in the
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: neighborhood of thirty guys that are won't be available when
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: the paper there's always there's so many top ten guys,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: there's like fifty fifty top json. I think that, I mean,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: he's he's as close as to what I would want,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: Like if he ran at the combine and that box
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: two in the forty, then I would I would be
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: all in on it. But I just can't wrap my
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: head around and this is sort of what we were
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: talking about on the Mock Draft Show. I can't wrap
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: my head around Bill Belichick taking a receiver with the
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: fourteenth overall pick like Bill just feels like we build
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: inside out, you know, trenches, like that's that's where we start.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: And the receiver is like the cherry on top that
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: especially him, which is not even like that receiver R
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: like it's going to be a specific slot kind of guy.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: If they were picking in the top five and this
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: was a year where Jamar Chase was in the draft
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: or someone like that, that it would be one thing.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: But for a guy that's that's really just coming in
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: to be a hyper uh you know, role player, And
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: I mean just you know, guy is going to be
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: a stud in the role that you're asking him to play.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: And I just see Bill wanting to build through the
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: trenches and I just don't know what the I think
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: the fourteenth overall pick would be too rich for him. Yeah,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: for a receiver going from Claire Um not surprising, hello
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Claire Hella Marine Um. But of course tight ends And
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: she's right with the tight end class being so good
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: this year that the Pats will draft the tight end
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: at all. If so, how high do you think that
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: with the wide receiver class being a little shallow, would
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: that weapon be better picked as a tight end? I
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: like where she's going and I hope so we both
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: address tight end in our latest mock drafts. You a
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: little bit higher than me. But there's a lot of
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: a lot of guys in there that intrigue and you know,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: I and like Claire said, I wouldn't have a problem
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: with just like maybe a move guy like all right,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: he's not gonna be gronk or he's not gonna be
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: a blocking you know guy, but he's going to be
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: a weapon for us. And I mean Dalton Kinkay probably gone.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: But but there are a couple of guys like that.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: I think the great part about this tight end class,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Like if you see a mock draft that has Michael
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Mayer to the Patriots at fourteen, just don't pay attention
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: to that mock draft, okay, because there's no reason whatsoever
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: for the Patriots to take Michael Mayer at fourteen in
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: this tight end class. Yeah, it just makes no sense whatsoever. Now,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: if they had an immediate need at tight end, and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: maybe I would, I could see it a little bit more.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: But you you mentioned some guys in that like third
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: or fourth round area, like a Laporta or Schoonmaker or
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: Zach Koontz from old old dominions. You have to say,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: like you have to say koons zakonsh that those guys
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: are developmental great athletes. I think in other drafts maybe
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: they're tight end one or two in their drafts, but
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: in this draft they get pushed all the way down
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: the board to like tight end five or six on
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Day two. Those guys all have starter upside. Now I
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: say starter upside. The tight end bar for starter is
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: pretty danglow. Like to be one of the best thirty
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: two tight ends in the league, it's not really the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: highest of bars. I don't know if they're top tier
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: tight ends, but I think all those guys could hold
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: down the position of being your starting tight end. And
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: let's say two years one, Hunter Henry and John Smith
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: are not here, I think they will take a tight
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: end I don't know, probably in the middle round somewhere.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: I think they take a lot of tight ends. They
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: tend to that's position they tend to look at um.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: But I don't like the idea of you know, like
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: I know, kids the city did it just want a title.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: I don't like that idea. I think you have to
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: have a really special guy like Gronk Well Kelsey to
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: do that to have the tight end be your primary weapon. Yeah,
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: that's sort of why I'm of a mid round option
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: I think might be better, just because I don't know
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: if Mayor is I don't Mayor's not gronk. Okay, I
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: know he wears eighty seven. I know he's a big guy.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: You know he plays tight end. He's not gronk. And
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: if he's not going to be like that though, a
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Notre Dame guy, Yeah, if he's not going to be
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: that type of guy, then I think you there's so
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: many mid round options in this draft. You know, Tucker Craft, Schoonmaker,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: Coons koa steak, Yeah right, yeah, yeah, yeah, serious. He
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: was a serious football dude. Like you asked him a question.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: He's staring right at you. He of course, what did
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: you just say? I said this on and he's I
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: have like a thing that a serious football guy Like,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: it's like kind of the thing I'm like, this guy
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: is just he's very serious about football. Like it's like Dante,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: Hi Tower, Kyle Dugger, like guys who aren't really jokey.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: They just you ask him a football and they're like
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: football does serious? This tight end colass More hang ups.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: But I haven't known about like four years not to hang.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: That's a bonus. That's a bonus. All right, Special Team's guide.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Just walk through the door, Paul, absolutely, Before we do that, though,
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: we're going to give away a T shirt. Now, what
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: are the rules? People have to email in correct? You
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: have to email in the correct answer and um and
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Matt Murray dropped the wait till it's twenty five minutes
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: left from the show, trying his best. Paul, Yeah, I'm
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: doing my best here. I got all kinds of pressure.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna go on. This is loosely related
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: to today. If you've been listening the whole time, the
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: answer was was said at one point, Um, but here
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: it is which member of the media smelled so good
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: that Megan O'Brien wanted to bottle it like perfume? Remember
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: that one, Paul, I do. This was a classic day.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I do as uh So, go ahead, email Matt Morrell.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: What is it web radio at Patriots dot com. Send
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: it on in if you want to get a jump
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: on punter kicker long snapper time. Now the time down,
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: So yeah, we're welcoming in here. I think it's his
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: first Patriots My station on Alex Barth, I have to say, Alex,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: it was a travesty that you were not at the
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Scout Combine. I feel like if Evan and I were there,
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: you no one like you eat it up as much
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: as we do. You should have been there. But I'm
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: sure you were back here just getting all kinds of information.
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: I'm sure Evan was feeding you some as well. UM,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: just first off before because we really want asked about
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: special teams, what'd you take away from the combine? Takeaways? UM,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I think that a lot of You know, sometimes you
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: go into the combine and things change a lot. Like
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: I remember last year the linebacker position, we were all
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: super down on it and then everybody tested through the
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: roof and all of a sudden it was WHOA look
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: at this class. Uh. I think this year it was
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: really just confirming a lot of what we already believed
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: the strong positions corner, tight end, offensive line. Uh. Some
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: of the positions we don't believe are as strong linebacker,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: wide receiver. It really felt like a lot of just Okay,
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: the eye test this year watching these guys during the
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: season turned out to be pretty much spot on. A
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: lot of these guys are sort of what we expected. Oh,
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna Paul. It's got a question though about specially Okay,
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: I made made him hold on, No, no, you want
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: to ask, So I just threw it out there. Um,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: obviously there's a chance. But do you think the Patriots
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: will turn over all three spots of specialists? Oh? That's well,
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: so it's exciting. Thank you for the question. Okay, I'm
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: gonna go back to my office, kicker. I think there's
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: a good chancey punter. It depends if if with the
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Jake Bailey's appealing that suspension, right, so, we haven't gotten
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: any update on that. It's it would be tough to
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: move on from him if he wins that appeal and
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: that money goes back on the books. So TVD on
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: that one. But like if he loses that and there's
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: no guaranteed money, I could see it and they Tucker
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: Addington was the long snapper they signed late in the
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: year last year, right, they sign him too, a multi
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: year deal. So does that countess turning over if it's him,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: it's not Folk Bailey, Joe Cardona disrespect coming from Barth
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: right now. No, I'm just I'm just asking that's a
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: fair question, adding to finish the year. But I'm saying,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: no Bailey, no Cardona. I think there's a chance. I
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: definitely think there's a chance. Cardona would be the most
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: surprising one to me, even though he is the only
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: one that doesn't have a contract. Um, you know, kind
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: of when we get to the end of the summer,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: we're still here. He did go Navy. I think they're
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: day Mike, I didn't. We weren't aware of that. Did
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: he play lacrosse? No? If you're gonna overturn the other two,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: like we, chemistry is so important right between those three spots.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: And to have three brand new guys, and if two
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: of them are gonna be rookies, that's asking a lot.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: So uh, if it was last year, I'd feel a
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: lot better because last year there was actually a long
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: snapper in the draft who was like draftable. Yeah, this year,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: what do you think it looks like? Though? I mean,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: you signed Jake Bailey that extension last year? I mean,
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: does that really if you if you don't bring him
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: back this year after signing to to that extension. How
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: he's been kind of playing, He's been injured a little bit.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: He wasn't really in the lineup last year, it looks
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: pretty bad, right, you gotta you gotta move on from
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: him a year after signing him to that extension. Is
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: that any kind of consideration of, like, I mean, we
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: just just signed this guy, like they must have liked
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: something about him, and I give you a little they
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: didn't really want to give him that contract for the
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: first place. Kind of well, and thank you very much.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Statistically though, he's been like one of the worst punters
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: in the league for two years and they still gave
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: him the contracts in a very weird contract. Last twenty
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: twenty one wasn't as bad last year. He was bottom
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: three in most major last ye good. And I just
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: gotta say, we do have an answer. We do have
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: a winning answer. Um and uh to the person who
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: wrote in Greg Bdard, how dare you? Um? Uh, it
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: looks like Addison that was tongue in cheek Addison Ankram
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: from Fresno looks like he won with Mike Giardi. Yes,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Mike Giardi was the Uh forgot that was a fun day.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I remember chatting about that and she's like, I wish
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: I could just bar And then it became a whole
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: like we were doing a whole ad of like Mike
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Grd like U curious it was spons I'm just sure
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: he's just a little curious. Oh boy, Jake in his head,
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: this is not football. No, No, Mike Giordi smells wonderful. Absolutely,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: he's a great guy. I'm not gonna say so good.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: I can actually smell him through the TV when he's hosting.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Can I ask Alex one more real football question? And
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: not about Miciardi sent? Okay, I know it's we all
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: know Jake Moody, Yeah, we all know Michael Turk. Yeah,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: your guy who Who's who's the Who's the second best
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: kicker and the second best punter in the draft. So
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: for them, right because they like kickers you've kicked in
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: cold weather and all that. Um, I think it's between
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Noah Ruggles from Ohio State and Chad Ryland of Maryland.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: Who are the two Senior Bowl kickers. The Maryland guy
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: is the one that Callahan had it. I was gonna say,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: I like Ryland. I he got put in some tough spots.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: There's a lot of close games, so he's kind of
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: got that thing where he's kicked some clutch kicks. You're
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: the Ohio State kicker. There's not that much riding on you, right,
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: so sixty and when there was yeah, he didn't even
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: yeah didn't didn't he miss the kick? In the college
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: football players, you're right at midnight at midnight that was
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I just want to let everybody know. I was at
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: a wedding then. I don't know if I've gotten that
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: off my chest enough. Oh no, who We were both
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: watching at the same time, and I was just like
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: two classics. And because they like milk the clock to
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: give him the like, they didn't even try to get
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: probably could have picked up some more yards. They just
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: wanted to kick it. They wanted to kick to line up.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: If you watch it, somebody sync it up. He kicks
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: the ball like as Midnight hits. That's what they cared about.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: The shots. There's shots at parties of people. It's the
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: most patriots thing ever. Only they get it. They got cute.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: They're like, yeah, if you start dark side of the
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: mood right at the third quarter, yeah, build the ball dropped.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: I was that New year party. Did you see his
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: balls dropped? And then he kicked the field goal right
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: as the ball dropped. I was at a New Year's
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: party and there was some of us that cuddled around
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: a foam in the corner watching the game, and we
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: all start cheering and we hear everybody else. We're like,
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: did you turn the game on? They're like, no, it's midnight.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: You were like, oh, as for the pud his football
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: had a lot of New Years parties watching those college
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: football They need to move it off. I can't wait.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: They need to move it off midnight New Year's or
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Fine, that's fun New
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: Year's Eve. Not somebody. You know, if I was just
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: complaining about the timing of the game, someone you're losing
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: your They get he's watching when it coincides for the weekend,
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: because then the NFL is obviously going to get the
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: precedence of the day, right, They won't. It's better when
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: they can move it off New Year's Eve punter punter
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Bryce Berenger from Michigan State had a really you don't
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: like the Rutgers punter. I like the Rucker. He's he's third.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: You asked me who the second best was. I thought
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Bearinger had a really good well because Mike and I
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: talked to the Rutgers punter because like there's a punter
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: from Rutgers and the Patriots might need a punter. Yeah.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: And he was talking about Corsic is his name right, Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: And he was talking about how he's an Auzzi style punter,
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: but he also has the regular punter in his bag too,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: so he can like change it up on you. He
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: can do line drive and boom it like he can
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: do everything. I'm like, oh, that's like a Bill Belichick.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Here's remember bat Rutgers that they haven't drafted a player
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: from Rutgers and over a decade. Yeah, it's like this
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: thing people say it. Look if there's a year to
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: do it. There's a couple of good Rutgers players this year.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: But it's like we're all in on on Picheco bow Melton,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: right like other Rutgers guys. Last year that they didn't
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: drast would have been a year we're gonna be good
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: at Wait in the show, all right, let's let's run
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: back to the phone's here real quick because we're coming
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: down the home stretch here on a Thursday show. Let's
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: go over to RAJ and Boston. Hey, Rob Harty, dang it,
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: Jow Patty hung on for like forty minutes and rog
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: could only you only make about ten minutes. Uh, well,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: I'm in films out too. I read your email and
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: and that's what you give me. Thanks for nothing. Uh finally,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Jerry from North Carolina. Hello Jerry there. He is at
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: work right now, but I have that luxury Um Jerry quick,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: um question. So what do you all think about? Um?
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: The Patriots just going all in just for one year?
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Just go all in and sign d Hop and Odell
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: give him both three years sixty million dollar deals. That's
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: fully instantive based based off of their performance and contribution
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: to the team. Well, I mean, I'm all in on
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: d Hop. I don't. I'll let you guys jump on
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: the other ones. But I'd take Tea Hop for sure.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: I mean Odell I take I would take him. I
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: don't know if you get both. I don't. Yeah, I
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: don't think they're gonna sign both. Thanks you. He We
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: had many of debates about Hunter Henry versus Johnny Smith,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: and they ended up signing both. I'm just saying I
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know about Odell Odell. That one
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: worries me a little bit coming off the injury. How
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: much does he really have left in the tank. I'm
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: willing to take a flyer on him if it's sort
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: of a pay as you go type of contrary and
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: incentive to use his um Jerry's example, I mean, Odell
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: Beckham might be in a position and where he's not
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: going to get the guaranteed money. He might have to
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: take that. Hopkins isn't. No, well, Hopkins, is he giving
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: you a break? So he was on one of the
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: shows yesterday and he mentioned that he's he's not necessarily
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: even looking for a new contract, which isn't a bad
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: thing for the team that acquires him, because his contract
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: is pretty reasonable for the team that's trading for him.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: But he's not necessarily in the boat of you need
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: to trade for me and then give me a whole
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: new contract. Actually I believe, Yeah, it's not in the
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: business of giving money back. No, and incentives are giving
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: money back. No. No, I think you're playing you're trading
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: for Hopkins. I think you're trading for him on that
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: contract that I think it's like two years, fifty four million,
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: but not all of it's guaranteed. His year one cap
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: hit this year I think would be a little bit
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: over nineteen million. If you were to acquire him. I
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: think that's what you're looking at. Hopkins. Well, my apologize
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: to Rage because he was actually just calling in to
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: get a jump on catch twenty two. He don't want
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: to talk to us, Paul. He's waiting for these two
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: guys right here. So he's going to hang out for
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: a little bit about fifteen minutes and he'll he'll wait
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: hopefully you guys can get to him. The women, Um,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: couple couple more emails here, question um, and I like
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: this one. Is it possible? This is from Peter? Uh?
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: Is it possible? Bill trades back in the first round
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: to mid twenties, grabs a bunch of picks and then
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: grabs a Darryl Darnell Wright. Uh, feel better? Don't gives
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: them a chance to beef up second, third or fourth
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: round picks for Kountz, Jack Campbell, Mouk and some six
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: one cornerbacks. I mean, I talked a little about with
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: with you about this where it seems like you could
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: get to that point at fourteen and you feel like,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: I don't really like any of the tackles. I'm not
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: really sold. Maybe on Joey Porter Junior. Christian Gonzalez has
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: already gone and it's way too early to take JSN
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: or any of the receivers. Um, I could kind of
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: see it, right, I mean they could definitely. This is
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: a classic Belichick trade down draft. I hate that, like
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I hate that. That's that we're making it this easy
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: on him to do what he wants to do. But yeah,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: this is a classic Belichick trade down draft in my mind.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: Do you say that? I mean, I agree, But do
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: you say that because of the positions that the Patriots
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: are looking for specifically, or because of the talent available specifically? Yeah,
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: I'm looking at it more of we go back to
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: the blue chip thing, right Like. That's why I'm asking
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: that at fourteen, I want them to come away with
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: a premium talent, like, not somebody that is get a
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: fillow role for them and might be a good player
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: throughout the course of his rookie contract. I want them
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: to be in the market for somebody at fourteen that
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: we are giving a second contract too, and we're not
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: at thinking twice about it, right like that That's the
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: way that it should be looked at. And if you
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: move down the board, yeah, maybe Darnell right oho, I
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: love ends up being your right tackle, and he's a
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: stud and everything works out perfectly fine. But I would
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: much rather stick at fourteen and even take a player
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: that is not necessarily a major, major need, but it's
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: still somebody that is in that category of he's just
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: going to be a star. Yeah, So the other part
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: part two of this, wait a second, you haven't heard
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: it yet, don't give up. Um. A lot of people
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: have said the blue chip thing, there's not a ton
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: of high end talent in this draft, right. I think
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: most Moost experts are an agreement on that. What do
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: they say about the overall depth of the draft the
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: class itself? But there were a lot of good players
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: or yeah, I think at certain positions, like Alex was
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: saying with the combine, you look at corner, you look
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: at tight end, I think tackle those guys, a lot
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: of them are moving up the board now into the
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: first round conversation. Like Darnel Right a month ago was
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: a second round pick. He had a great senior bowl,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: had a great combine. Now all of a sudden he's
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: like the end of the first round, early second I
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: think tackle has some really good a talent in the
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: first fifty picks. I don't know about the depth, and
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: then I would also point to edge, like Alexe, I
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: mean we've looked at Edge, maybe not as like a
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: big need for the Patriots, but you look at top
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: fifty like maybe it's really really talked highly. Yeah, it
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: was Corners tight ends Edge because Edge has in this draft,
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: like you mentioned, like there's not a ton of those
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: big you know, there's no Jamar Chase at receiver, there's
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: no there's no those plays. But Will Anderson is one
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: of those guys at edge. And then it goes all
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: the way back into the second and third round with
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: options there as well. So I think the edge is
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: a really strong class as well. This is a classic
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Fred and Paul day two ish of the draft argument.
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: You know, just to get us through when we're you know,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: we're starting, you know, it's starting to hit in the
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: five hour energies have worn off. That's a very common thing.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Let's trade down, Alex, Right, let's let's move down and
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: get extra picks. And I always say, well that that's
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: great in theory, and I like the idea, but now
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: you're telling you're telling me that the overall strength of
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: this class isn't great. So now we're gonna add more
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: picks and are not so great, you know, top end
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: of the draft. Or the second part of that is,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: if I have a lot of picks, like the Patriots
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: typically do and certainly do this year with eleven, why
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: not package some of those picks to move up a
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: little bit. And I'm not saying from fourteen you don't
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: have to make like a big splash trade, but why
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: not take a couple of year lower picks and move
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: up and better ensure that you get what a lot
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: of people say is a smaller class of high end talent. Well,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: let me give you in terms of trading up. You
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: talking about this is a classic Bill Belichick trade down
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: in the first draft. Yeah, I see it. I understand
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: what people are talking. I also think it really the
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: class really suggests towards making one of those Christian Barmore trades.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: I think there's gonna be a lot of players who
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: are good, who they would like, who are going to
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: go in that like thirty two to forty ranges. Guys
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: like Darnelle Washington, Guys like Jimir Gibbs, Right, players like that,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Josh Downs, the wide receiver from UNC. So do they
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: make a move maybe up in the second round and round.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: The other thing I'd say, in terms of the trading
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: the pick in trading down. So if they make the
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: move for Hopkins, right, it sounds like the price is
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: gonna be a second round pick. Do they try to
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: do a best of both worlds thing? You trade forty
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: six for Hopkins, You then trade down from like fourteen
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: to twenty and get bat for a pick back in
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: the top fifty. So you still have your first and
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: second and you get Hopkins. You just moved down a
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: little in the first That's sort of what I didn't
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: want to throw too many trades into my mock draft
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: and get too crazy with it. But that's kind of
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: where I was going with it. Is because I think
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: Anton Harrison is a perfect guy that I would probably
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: rather take in the twenties. But I'm but he's talented
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: enough if you have to take him at fourteen, I'd
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: be okay with him at fourteen, But you moved down
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: taking Anton Harrison. Take a Darnel right, take a Dwan Jones,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: who we both really like from Ohio State in the twenties,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: and then maybe replenish some of the picks that you
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: get from trading for a receiver like Hopkins. I just
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: think you look at those three fourth round picks, which
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: are you know, kind of sporadic, and you can package
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: that second round or with one of those fourths and
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: really get wherever you want in the second round. So yeah,
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: I think that the potentials there. That's what I did,
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: and my mock was, I went up to get somebody
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: that you really like in that early for Balmore, I
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: think it was a second and two fifths, is that
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: what it was. I think that it might have been
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: a second and two fourths. But like they can, we
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: love the trade ups, they have elimination, you know, we
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: don't love a lot of six and seventh round picks,
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: and they got about four of them, right, they don't
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: have any seventh they have one. Well they're projective projected
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: so well that well, that was really where they got Paul.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: This is one time where it didn't all work out
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: for the Patriots, Okay, because J. C. Jackson was supposed
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: to be JAC Jackson was supposed to be a third
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: round comp pick when he was supposed to be the
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: top Yeah, now they're gonna probably get a fourth round
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: comp pick for jac because he didn't play. Because you're
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: not play okay, which I don't think is fair. Like
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: he gave him the contract like that, the compis a
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: base on the contract because you lost the guy, like
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry Chargers that he didn't play, Like that's not,
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: that's not. Our problems in general are in my top
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: five of the worst things about football. I like the compis.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: I think it's absurd that you encourage teams to let
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: their players go. So you say, I'm going to give
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: you extra draft picks because you don't want to pay
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: your players and you're just gonna let them go. But
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: it's like Baseball, like how many times in that like
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the last ten fifteen years, and they've altered some of
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: these rules because of it with all baseball drafts. You
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: try to explain the baseball drafts, if you make a
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: qualifying offer to a guy you know, then you can
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: just let them go. Well, why should you reward a
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: team for letting diffree agents go. Yeah, I understand where
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: you're coming from. But if they get that, if that
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: compic does hit at the end of the fourth round,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: it's kind of a free pick, like you just here
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: you go, like, here's a fourth round pick, and if
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: you end up putting that into a deal where you
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: package something to either move up or it goes to
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: Arizona for DeAndre Hot Like I don't hate that, Like
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: it's not really You still have two other fourth round picks,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: by the way, that you can use in the fourth round.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: They're projected to have eleven picks. You should be able
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: to do a lot of Bill Belichick maneuvering. I also
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: think it's kind of too many picks, Like if you
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: just look at the amount of guy that they have
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: on the roster, you expect them to sign some free
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: agents as well. With the cap space that they have,
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: they could definitely consolidate picks. They probably should consolidate picks.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: There are a lot of votes for Philip Perry in
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: the T shirt contest. The smell which I get. I
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: could see that a couple from because Megan, see this
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: is you also get every once in a while you
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: would get a peek into the soul when Meghan was
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: on the show. Megan, Megan found Philip Perry extremely handsome.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Along with Shoe was subsessed with Meglio. Yes, yes, she's
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: a white Sox homer. Two very different but types of people.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: But like she just like let it slip out one day,
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: like on like on the air, like, I mean, he's
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: very attractive and we of course we ran. You gotta
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: just keep smelling it now. She was the best I
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: miss Megan. Um. We did do one more question just um.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: This one come from Cody in Indiana. He's like, do
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: you think it's wrong for me to want Devin mccordy
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: to retire rather than lay him up for one more year.
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I think he can still play at a reasonable level,
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: but I just think it's time for changing the guard
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: in the locker room and his presence may stifle some
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: of the younger would be leaders. What would you prefer
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: that he'd retire or play one more season? It's a
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: great question. I mean, we're kind of waiting to hear
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: I know, and I hear it. I said the same
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: thing of at what point are you going to you know,
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: kind of create a vacuum of sorts that a young
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: new leadership structure has to set up, set step up,
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: And you know, at what point do hearing from the
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: guys who won a super Bowl five years ago, when
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: does that start to be like you're just kind of
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: the old guys. Now you're not this isn't ringing true
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: to us. I just don't want that to happen. Not
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: saying that that is, but I just I do wonder
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: about that of of you know, you've got these kind
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: of holdovers and mccordy and Slater still kind of preaching
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: what was preached here for a long time, of course
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: at work. But you know, is that message still freshen
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: and are people still buying it? That's my question and
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: no one else's. Oh, I think it's the way the emailer.
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: I don't think you're wrong. I see the point. We
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: all love mccordy, right, Um, he could still play. I mean,
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: I don't think he's what he was, but he could
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: still play. He's not a detriment out there. I don't
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: have any idea of how to quantify his ability to
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: get everybody on the same page in the back end.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Will that be the same if it's yeah, you know,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: just I just look at the somebody else. When I
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: watched defenses around in the league, the Patriots consistently have
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: the fewest busted coverages out of any defense. Like they
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: might get guys, you know, everybody's gonna get beat every
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: once in a while, and a one on one matchup,
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: they might get bag but you talking about one getting
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: three yards behind the guy covering him, right, talking about uncovered. Yeah,
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: it doesn't happen a lot with the page. No it doesn't.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: And I think that obviously the head, but you have
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: to give some of it to him. And I go
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: back to twenty twelve when I felt like it was
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: and he, you know, as a rookie, had been in
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: a corner and there was talking him moving to safety.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: And then I was at that Seattle game in twenty
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: twelve where it was like bonds away on Tavon Wilson,
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: and you like that was the need. You're like, man,
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: we just we need a back end guy. I didn't
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: really even see it at the time. You know that
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: mccordy was was going to be that guy because she
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: was still a corner then, right right, No, I know
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: that's what like, you know what I mean, you know
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: where you got to viscerated that season as a corner.
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: We're about to wrap up, but I just I've got
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: to ask Alex. I just want to know, Alex, just
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: a couple of draft guys, like who are you? Who
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: are a couple of favorites of your guys just curious
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: who who you know is really a crusion? On the
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: podcast you find out, I don't want to. Why should
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: they give it away for free? Yeah, because people who
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: listen already know I've talked about these guys enough. I
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: really like Dwan Jones from Ohio State. You know, how
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: does he fit with the Patriots? They probably need more
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: of a left tackle and he's a right tackle. But
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: six seven, three seventy five moves like a basketball player.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Evans heard me say this. My comp for him is
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: Trek Woland. In the sense that Woland had all the
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: measurables still went in the fifth round. It almost felt
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: like people looked at him and just thought it's all
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: too good to be true. I kind of feel like
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: people are doing the same thing with Dwan Jones. Everything
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: about his makeup tells you he should be a stud,
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: and there's still people say it. Maybe he goes in
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: the top fifty, Like, what are we doing? Don't overthink it? Um.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I really like Zach Kuon's the tight end from old dominion.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: You know, we even do that right, Like if he
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: catches a pass. Even as far as the draft goes,
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: he's an unknown didn't play last year. But again it's
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: the same thing. Six eight two fifty five four five
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: five forty inch vertical. There's something there. Just bring him
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: in and figure it out. Josh Downs is my favorite
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: slot receiver. I just think he's so technically sound. He's
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: just I think he's gonna have a very low learning
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: curve compared to some of the other receivers. Um Corner.
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: Oh dude, Julius Brentz. That was like the first guy
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: I was in one big Julius Brentz guy. He turned
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: me into a Julius Prinz fan I was. I watched
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: Koon's yesterday, did my deep dive into him yet on Twitter?
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: And I texted him like fun player and he was like,
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: fun player, come on well because I hopefully we have
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: the audio and we talked about him on the show
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: two weeks so when I'm fighting when I brought him up,
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Evan could not have sounded more disgusted when I brought
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: up Zach Koons and Darnell Washing because he was so disinterested.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: I get that a lot. Yeah, you guys know, you
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: guys are Jack Kons from Old Dominion. And I texted
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: him yesterday and I was like, this is the guy
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: that they overdraft, like this is the good and that's
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: why I'm already pre I'm gonna say this and I
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: get made fun of him Mac and played on a loop.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: They ain't drafting a tight end from old Dominion, so
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: he actually thought on the old man Penn State. To
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: be fair, he went, he started at Penn State. He
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: started at Penn State. That's all of his production came.
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: Oh it's the same. They never draft Penn State guys. No,
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: but I'm just saying he came from a real program
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: heavy ability to a real yeah, like I take a
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: late round flyer off some guy from a small like
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: the Sam Roberts last Yeah, but not not the guy
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: that we well it you teach at Uga Paul Yeah,
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: and and I mean you pretending the choir and only
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: state and you only had to replace him in four
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: different games. THEFF tells me how great he was, Butons
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: coach didn't agree. Huons is your perfect like third round
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: tight end prospect though, that just is a freak athlete,
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: and you hope that it almost like George Kittles, you know,
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: in the league, where all of a sudden he just
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: blossoms into his grape Mike is sick. He's the guy
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: I've used. All right, Well, Paul and Duce gotta get
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: out of here, but you've got plenty more of Evan
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: and Barth coming at you here. We will be back
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: next week. Of course, Monday, the tampering period opens, so
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: we will be on high alert for any emergency podcast,
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: big news, anything like that. But if not, we do
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: an emergency podcast. But tampering, oh yeah, I don't know.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: We didn't do one for James Ferenson. I don't know
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: Eagle tampering now, no, I know, But let's say a
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: disclaimer that'll fix everythink Tuesday, we'll get you up to
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: date on the tampering and then uh, I'll let you
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: guys carry it through the rest of the week because
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch Matt March Madness come out break stick
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: around for Catch twenty two. We will catch you on Tuesday.
