- 0:00Speaker 1: Back here with a crack and head coach Lane Lambert
- 0:01Speaker 1: the Crack and getting set with the Philadelphia Flyers in
- 0:03Speaker 1: their first of two matchups here for the season. So far,
- 0:06Speaker 1: through five games, what have you seen from this team
- 0:08Speaker 1: as far as their commitment and the application here to
- 0:11Speaker 1: the principles that you want to see physically and also
- 0:13Speaker 1: Bentley as well.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they've done a great job up until
- 0:16Speaker 2: this point for sure. You know, there's certain categories defensively
- 0:20Speaker 2: in the league that you know we're either at the
- 0:24Speaker 2: top of or near the top of. The commitment level
- 0:28Speaker 2: has been outstanding, you know, commitment to play a certain way,
- 0:31Speaker 2: commitment to you know, sacrifice block shots, whatever it might be.
- 0:36Speaker 2: So they've done a really good job so far. And again,
- 0:39Speaker 2: like you said, it's five games in, we've got a
- 0:41Speaker 2: long way to go. But certainly give the guys credit.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Toronto is no slash and even with no much marter,
- 0:47Speaker 1: they still have plenty of weapons and Austin Matthews, William
- 0:49Speaker 1: Niland or John Tavares so to be able to handle
- 0:52Speaker 1: that kind of a challenge. What did it say about
- 0:54Speaker 1: how those guys were able to fare physically for a
- 0:56Speaker 1: game like that?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, I mean, clearly, we've feel like
- 1:01Speaker 2: as a group, we feel confident in our structure. You know,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I've said it's not always going to be perfect, but
- 1:11Speaker 2: certainly you know when it isn't, We've had some big
- 1:14Speaker 2: efforts and big individual efforts to you know, eat some
- 1:18Speaker 2: bucks and do whatever, and you know, and and our
- 1:21Speaker 2: goaltending has been pretty good. So you know, it's it's
- 1:25Speaker 2: it's a game where you you go into the game
- 1:27Speaker 2: and as long as you play the way you want
- 1:29Speaker 2: to play, you give yourself a chance to win.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Where do you give these guys the most credit for
- 1:33Speaker 1: being able to handle the stretch that they're going through
- 1:35Speaker 1: with next man up mentality, bodies and bodies app are
- 1:38Speaker 1: still finding a way to be effective shift after shift.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Well that's the way we have to be. You know,
- 1:43Speaker 2: we've had a rash of injuries and training camp for
- 1:46Speaker 2: starters and now we're under the same same gamut here
- 1:51Speaker 2: as we start the regular season with you know, five
- 1:54Speaker 2: regulars out right now. But you know, it is what
- 1:58Speaker 2: it is. It's a it's a next man up men
- 2:00Speaker 2: and everybody within the organization, you know, starting day one
- 2:04Speaker 2: a training camp has been on the same page and
- 2:06Speaker 2: is understanding what it is we need to do, so
- 2:10Speaker 2: you know, there's no surprises in terms of how we
- 2:12Speaker 2: want to play. And you know, guys have come in
- 2:15Speaker 2: and done a good job of of, you know, maintaining
- 2:19Speaker 2: that so far.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That next man app will be Berkeley Catton making his
- 2:23Speaker 1: NHL debut here for this evening. And you mentioned before
- 2:27Speaker 1: a big key for players is to play loose, enjoy
- 2:30Speaker 1: the moment. But how do you balance the info they
- 2:32Speaker 1: are trying to feed a guy but not making sure
- 2:34Speaker 1: that he's on overload to get ready here for a
- 2:36Speaker 1: game like this.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Ah, you know what I mean. At the end of
- 2:39Speaker 2: the day, it's up to him to balance that. You know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: we have expectations, we have a standard that we play with.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Everybody's you know, has to play by that standard. The
- 2:50Speaker 2: more you understand that standard and those expectations, the better
- 2:52Speaker 2: off you're going to be. So uh, he's doing a
- 2:55Speaker 2: good job of you know, working, working, in practice, getting
- 2:58Speaker 2: himself prepared. I think it's been fantastic that he has
- 3:01Speaker 2: in practice been a penalty killer because it gives him
- 3:04Speaker 2: a little bitter utter understanding of the defensive side of
- 3:07Speaker 2: the game as well. We know he can create. We
- 3:09Speaker 2: want him to create, and I'm looking forward to seeing him.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Play based in the Philadelphia Flyers. Finally here a team
- 3:14Speaker 1: that can certainly skate. How much more is this a
- 3:16Speaker 1: legs game versus say, a brain's going to be able
- 3:19Speaker 1: to handle what they bring.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's both, it's definitely both. Yeah, no, but it'll be
- 3:24Speaker 2: a fast game. We feel like we're a fast team,
- 3:26Speaker 2: so you know, we're looking forward to it. Thank you
- 3:29Speaker 2: very much, Thank you.
