- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Let's talk about a little trick that I do that helps me really
- 0:34stay motivated, not just at the beginning of the year, but in
- 0:38process of what I'm doing or pretty much anything that I'm
- 0:41doing. This trick is that I try to find
- 0:44a way to be passionate about something, but is there a thread
- 0:48of something that I can pull in that will make me be passionate
- 0:51about something? And this isn't about faking it.
- 0:55I've often talked to clients about this and they'll say,
- 0:58well, isn't that faking it till you make it?
- 1:00And I'm like, Nope, it's not about pretending.
- 1:02What it's about is saying there's something here that I
- 1:05can find a way to be passionate about.
- 1:08Now, let's use this podcast in his example.
- 1:10So we are on year 4 of doing this podcast.
- 1:13I still can't believe we're on Season 4 and in the process of
- 1:17doing this. At the beginning, you know, I
- 1:20wasn't sure if I was going to like it.
- 1:22I did it for 30 days and then I said, OK, I'll continue to do
- 1:25it. And over time, I've thought to
- 1:28myself, OK, I have to find ways to keep this, you know, fresh
- 1:32and new. And I have to be excited about
- 1:34this and you know, to keep it good or great to even get to
- 1:38outstanding in the process. And talking about things and
- 1:43changing subjects, trying to find different things is not
- 1:46easy. I have to be first to admit
- 1:49that. And I'm always seeking content.
- 1:50I'm always making notes, I'm always reminding myself, oh, you
- 1:53want to talk about this or you want to mention this.
- 1:55But there is one thing that I can always bring to the table no
- 2:00matter what I feel about. If I'm motivated to go and do
- 2:03it, if I'm not motivated to go and do it, if I'm just sick of
- 2:07doing it one day and I'm just like, I don't feel like going
- 2:10out and recording because I'm just in a quiet mode.
- 2:12There's one thing that I can always rely on for myself and
- 2:17that is saying I'm always passionate about teaching
- 2:21somebody something. So when I feel like I'm off or I
- 2:25feel like I've, you know, I've glided to the side and I'm not
- 2:30exactly on point anymore, I'll say, OK, what can you teach?
- 2:35What part of this can you teach? And as soon as I use that, it
- 2:38triggers in me that desire for the passion part of it.
- 2:42And it's just, it's just part of it.
- 2:45I can also pull that in with creativity.
- 2:47I can say, all right, what can I bring that's creative today?
- 2:50What can I do that's from my imagination?
- 2:53So I kind of have the this these three big chunks.
- 2:56The teaching slash learning for me is such a big deal.
- 3:00Then I've got the imagination, which is a huge big deal, and
- 3:03the creativity, which is another big deal.
- 3:06So I can go to those 3 anytime I want and utilize that as a tool
- 3:12in helping me. Now I can do that across the
- 3:15board. So as I stand out here and I
- 3:18look at the garden, which had its disaster last year, of this
- 3:23unknown fungus that's in the ground that you can't see, you
- 3:26can't get rid of it. And now they're telling me five
- 3:28to seven years, you can't plant tomatoes in there directly into
- 3:32the ground because it will infiltrate them.
- 3:35It has something to do with nightshades.
- 3:38Anyway, I don't want to digress and go down a plant diagnosis
- 3:41situation, but I look at that and I could be easily
- 3:45discouraged. I would be lying to you if I
- 3:47wasn't telling you that there is a part of me that gets
- 3:49discouraged with it because I love tomatoes and they're my
- 3:51favorite thing to grow. And I just absolutely cannot
- 3:55tell you the difference between a homegrown organic tomato then,
- 3:59you know, a store bought tomato. It's it's like night and day
- 4:02Anyway, I couldn't stand here and I could look at it because I
- 4:05see right from the girls coop, I see the garden.
- 4:08It's right off to my left and I could get very discouraged.
- 4:12But when I say to myself, this requires you to be imaginative.
- 4:16This requires you to reimagine the garden.
- 4:19This is going to require your creativity immediately.
- 4:23It's like a shot in the butt. It just helps me go boom, OK,
- 4:28And then I start thinking, and then I'm like, OK, I want to go
- 4:30look at books. OK, I want to pull out all my
- 4:32books. I want to read.
- 4:34What can I do? What are other ways to
- 4:35circumvent this? And all of a sudden, because I'm
- 4:39doing that in an imaginative way and I'm saying, OK, well what if
- 4:42I did these raised bed things? What if I instead of doing it
- 4:45just the traditional raised beds, I did the bags and I put
- 4:49them in the bags and I'm like, OK, well how would that work
- 4:51with irrigation? OK, well, let's talk to my
- 4:54irrigation guy about this and see what he has to say.
- 4:57But I'm using all of these tools, these three tools that
- 5:01are my like secret weapons to say, hey, I can get past this.
- 5:06Even things that I don't want to deal with that are irritating,
- 5:08frustrating things that I don't want to do.
- 5:11Like I don't want to deal with trying to figure out how to, you
- 5:13know, fix this ground. I mean, this is the, it's
- 5:17crappy. I spent all this time trying to
- 5:18make it perfect, and now all of a sudden I have something I
- 5:21can't see, can't test for, I can't get rid of.
- 5:24Of course, it would be aggravating.
- 5:25It would be stupid to say that it's not.
- 5:27However, it's not taking me out because I'm going to use those
- 5:30three things and I'm going to take it to a different position.
- 5:34I'm going to take it into a different vein, and then I'll be
- 5:37able to solve it. So try that for yourself.
- 5:40Again, it's not about faking it. It's about using other tools to
- 5:44help yourself go past it. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:47you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:50Bye.
