- 0:17Speaker 3: Mr.
- 0:18Speaker 2: New York, Mark Simone is on 710WOR.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Hey, we've been telling you for weeks about Bill O'Reilly's
- 0:27Speaker 1: new book. It might be his best book ever. It's
- 0:29Speaker 1: called Confronting America, and it takes you through the last
- 0:32Speaker 1: few decades. It's a powerful book, Confronting America, Bill O'Reilly's
- 0:36Speaker 1: new book. It's out today. You can get it right now.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's available right now wherever you get books. Of course,
- 0:43Speaker 1: you can go to BillOReilly.com where you can get his podcast,
- 0:47Speaker 1: the TV show. But order the book, Confronting America, and,
- 0:51Speaker 1: of course, watch his YouTube channel. Bill O'Reilly, how you doing?
- 0:56Speaker 3: I'm hanging up there, Mark. How are you? Good.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So the book comes out today. And tell us about
- 1:02Speaker 1: the book again. I found it riveting. It's not just
- 1:04Speaker 1: America's story.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Well, it's eyewitness history. It's what I've seen in my
- 1:08Speaker 3: more than 50 years of journalism. And with an emphasis
- 1:13Speaker 3: on problem solving. So I'm sure you feel the same
- 1:19Speaker 3: way I do. I'm so tired of these politicians saying,
- 1:23Speaker 3: coming out and going, we're going to do, we're going
- 1:25Speaker 3: to do, we're going to do, and then they do
- 1:27Speaker 3: absolutely nothing. And the truth is that many of these
- 1:32Speaker 3: problems cannot be solved by the government. So let's take affordability,
- 1:37Speaker 3: which is the big headline for the Democratic Party this year, affordability.
- 1:43Speaker 3: So what are you going to do? How are you
- 1:46Speaker 3: going to make things more affordable for the working American? Silenced.
- 1:51Speaker 3: You've been in California lately? That's a Democratic run, top
- 1:54Speaker 3: to bottom. Any affordability out there at all? Have you
- 1:57Speaker 3: seen any affordability? No. No? Okay, so I'm tired of that,
- 2:04Speaker 3: and it's getting me even angry. So in confronting America,
- 2:09Speaker 3: I say, here is the problem, okay? Drug addiction. Here's
- 2:14Speaker 3: how to solve the problem. Now, most of these politicians
- 2:18Speaker 3: will run the other way. They'll scream in on the
- 2:20Speaker 3: guts to do it. But we back it up, all
- 2:25Speaker 3: of my problem-solving stuff, with facts and people who have
- 2:29Speaker 3: done certain things to make life better in America. And
- 2:34Speaker 3: so that's what it's about. It's not ideological, although I
- 2:38Speaker 3: did send a book to three liberal friends and three
- 2:40Speaker 3: conservative friends. And the conservatives were not really right-wingers. They're
- 2:45Speaker 3: more moderates. uh, traditionals and same thing with the liberals.
- 2:49Speaker 3: They weren't socialists and the left guys hated the book.
- 2:54Speaker 3: They hated it. And the right guys read it in
- 2:58Speaker 3: a day. And the re and I said, well, what
- 3:00Speaker 3: do you mean? It's not boring. I'm telling you stories forever.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Tell you stories about everybody, uh, from Barack Obama to
- 3:08Speaker 3: Donald Trump. You know, I'm there in the room. I'm there. Okay. Okay.
- 3:14Speaker 3: They didn't like it because the book is heavy on
- 3:18Speaker 3: individual behavior. That is what we have to get back to.
- 3:28Speaker 3: So when you and I were raised, I'm a little
- 3:30Speaker 3: older than you, but in our homes and our neighborhoods,
- 3:35Speaker 3: we were held accountable for what we did, especially if
- 3:41Speaker 3: it was bad. That's gone. Now it's excuse after excuse
- 3:46Speaker 3: after excuse after excuse, and you can do the most
- 3:49Speaker 3: heinous things to other people, and you're not punished. Look
- 3:52Speaker 3: at this nut who ran on the field, Yankee Stadium,
- 3:56Speaker 3: with the Palestinian flag. You know what happened to him? No.
- 4:00Speaker 3: He got a ticket. He could have been driving 35
- 4:06Speaker 3: in a 25 in front of a school in Mandan.
- 4:11Speaker 3: He would have given them the same ticket. You got
- 4:14Speaker 3: to pick it and nothing's going to happen. They'll drop it.
- 4:19Speaker 3: They're not going to go through with it. And he's
- 4:21Speaker 3: not going to pay it. And once you have that
- 4:26Speaker 3: kind of a thing going on where there's no accountability
- 4:29Speaker 3: at all on the personal level, I'm tired of it.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And that's why I wrote the book. No, it's a
- 4:36Speaker 3: great book. I've read it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: It's confronting America.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's out.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You order it today. You can go to a bookstore
- 4:42Speaker 1: and buy it today. Uh, It's available wherever you get
- 4:45Speaker 1: your books. Bill O'Reilly's new book, Confronting America. And you
- 4:50Speaker 1: mentioned Obama. I remember that interview you did with him.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But before and after the interview, what was your impression
- 4:55Speaker 1: of him? What kind of guy was he?
- 4:56Speaker 3: You know, I admired that he came from nothing. He
- 5:00Speaker 3: had a hippie mother who was running around Indonesia. No father.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Father split. I think the day he was born, I
- 5:07Speaker 3: think the father split Hawaii. I admired that. And he
- 5:11Speaker 3: worked his way up to the presidency. But I remember
- 5:15Speaker 3: my defining conversation with President Obama, and I had a
- 5:19Speaker 3: few on and off the air. And he goes, you know, Bill,
- 5:23Speaker 3: you're not really responsible for your success. Huh? I swear
- 5:28Speaker 3: to God. And he goes, the government, we helped you
- 5:36Speaker 3: do that a lot. And I looked at him, Mr. President,
- 5:40Speaker 3: I said, no government ever person has ever helped me
- 5:45Speaker 3: ever except taking my money. All right. Away from me.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I said, I get your drift that I have the
- 5:54Speaker 3: right to pursue happiness. And there are pathways to success
- 5:57Speaker 3: in America that don't exist in many other countries. All right.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But I had to do it. I had to come
- 6:03Speaker 3: out of Levittown and make a success or a failure
- 6:07Speaker 3: on my own. And everybody cutting my front lawn saying, hey, Bill,
- 6:13Speaker 3: why don't you do this today? And that is the
- 6:17Speaker 3: mindset that, oh, no, no, no. If you're successful or affluent,
- 6:26Speaker 3: you owe us. You owe us in Washington. No, I don't.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I owe you the law. You're taxing me up to
- 6:34Speaker 3: my eyebrows now. If Hoka wins, you're going to tax
- 6:37Speaker 3: even more. And that's obviously driving people out of the state.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I mean, come on. You can't pay any more, yet
- 6:49Speaker 3: they want more and more and more and more, and
- 6:51Speaker 3: they waste, waste, waste. So anyway, that was my conversation
- 6:56Speaker 3: with him, and he just sees it like the government
- 6:58Speaker 3: did all of this for you, and now you've got
- 7:00Speaker 3: to give back. And I said, the government is not
- 7:04Speaker 3: my mom. The government didn't drive me to hockey practice. Okay. Jeez.
- 7:11Speaker 3: But that was an interesting conversation.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Well, that's the kind of stuff you'll read in the book.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It's a fascinating book. Confronting America. It just came out today.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You can get it today. You can walk into a
- 7:20Speaker 1: bookstore and walk out with it, or you can order
- 7:22Speaker 1: it on Amazon and it'll come right away. Bill O'Reilly's
- 7:26Speaker 1: new book, Confronting America. You know, these studies that look
- 7:29Speaker 1: at the affordability problem, a lot of them show the
- 7:32Speaker 1: big expense that most people have is taxes. It's a big,
- 7:35Speaker 1: enormous percentage of their expense. So wouldn't that be the
- 7:40Speaker 1: first thing you do is cut taxes if there's affordability problems?
- 7:43Speaker 3: Well, I just don't get it. So the Democrats are
- 7:48Speaker 3: on affordability, affordability, affordability, and they're going to raise taxes.
- 7:54Speaker 3: There'll be a cap. So if you earn less than $ 40, 000,
- 7:57Speaker 3: you'll get away. You won't have to pay. But everybody else,
- 8:04Speaker 3: you know, in $ 100, 000 to $ 200, 000 range, which is where
- 8:08Speaker 3: most Americans are or are heading anyway, they're going to
- 8:12Speaker 3: get it. So that's affordability. That's going to help you
- 8:15Speaker 3: pay the utility bill. The government taking more of you.
- 8:19Speaker 3: We're already getting taxed on your utility bill. You're getting
- 8:23Speaker 3: taxed on everything. Everything. Everything. And then they run around going, oh, affordability. No,
- 8:30Speaker 3: we're the party of affordability. They can raise taxes again
- 8:34Speaker 3: on everything. And you just sit there and you go, oh,
- 8:38Speaker 3: my God. And one of the things I wanted to
- 8:41Speaker 3: mention to the WOR audience is one of the things
- 8:43Speaker 3: I have in the book is I had a really
- 8:47Speaker 3: good solution to poverty, and particularly children in poverty. And
- 8:54Speaker 3: young boys who are out of control, who commit most
- 8:58Speaker 3: of the crimes, not only in New York, but all
- 9:01Speaker 3: over the country. And I couldn't get it done. And
- 9:06Speaker 3: I had it. And Paul McCartney was involved. Bono was involved.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Obama was involved. I had it. And that would have
- 9:16Speaker 3: raised so much money to help these poor kids. Without
- 9:23Speaker 3: any tax on anybody. And it didn't happen. And where
- 9:28Speaker 3: do you see why? It was an amazing experience. So that's,
- 9:34Speaker 3: you know, it's personal history. Nothing in there that I
- 9:39Speaker 3: wasn't present for. No theory, no ideology. This is what
- 9:43Speaker 3: I saw. This is what I did. And a lot
- 9:47Speaker 3: of people aren't going to like it.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I thought it was a great book. It's really interesting reading.
- 9:53Speaker 1: It's Confronting America, Bill O'Reilly's new book. It's out today.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You can actually walk into the store and walk out
- 9:59Speaker 1: with it or you can. go to Amazon. You can
- 10:01Speaker 1: download it right into your Kindle. Confronting America, Bill O'Reilly's
- 10:05Speaker 1: new book. It's out today. Hey, we only got like
- 10:08Speaker 1: a minute left. President Trump with that $ 5, 000 check to
- 10:10Speaker 1: every American. Apparently that wasn't in the teleprompter. It wasn't
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the script. He just blurted that out.
- 10:17Speaker 3: What a shock, right?
- 10:19Speaker 1: What does he think? What is he doing when he
- 10:21Speaker 1: does that?
- 10:22Speaker 3: Well, look, it's not as absurd as people say it is,
- 10:26Speaker 3: but he's got to put out the numbers. So if
- 10:29Speaker 3: the government has raised all of this money through the
- 10:32Speaker 3: tariffs and all that money is flown into the treasury,
- 10:36Speaker 3: let's see it. How much money? How, uh, how, Better
- 10:42Speaker 3: off are we in your second term than we were
- 10:46Speaker 3: under Biden as far as trade is concerned. How much
- 10:49Speaker 3: money are we making? That's the flaw of the Trump administration.
- 10:54Speaker 3: They don't get specific. You have a big chart out there, okay?
- 10:59Speaker 3: This is how much money the tariffs are bringing in.
- 11:02Speaker 3: This is why it's beneficial to you. It is creating
- 11:05Speaker 3: more jobs. There's no question about that. But is it
- 11:08Speaker 3: driving prices down? Not yet because of Iran. But he
- 11:13Speaker 3: just says stuff, and he doesn't back it up, which
- 11:16Speaker 3: lets his enemies run wild. And, you know, he ought
- 11:22Speaker 3: to have just some guy following him around with a
- 11:25Speaker 3: big card that has all the artifacts. So we'd have
- 11:30Speaker 3: to go through this every three days.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's got 10 guys to do that and
- 11:34Speaker 1: follow him around. But he still does it anyway.
- 11:36Speaker 3: He's going to do it no matter what. But if
- 11:40Speaker 3: the Republicans want to prosper, and I'm not a party apparatchik,
- 11:46Speaker 3: they've got to rush in after he says stuff like
- 11:49Speaker 3: that and explain it down to the micro level. It's
- 11:54Speaker 3: $ 1. 2 trillion that he's committed for the $ 5, 000 checks. Well,
- 11:59Speaker 3: if the tariffs have brought in $ 12 trillion, okay, if
- 12:05Speaker 3: they've brought in $ 12, then that's not a burden. But
- 12:09Speaker 3: we don't know how much the tariffs have brought in.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And that's the flaw.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Well, we're out of time, but everybody, get Bill O'Reilly's
- 12:18Speaker 1: latest book. You're going to love this book. It's Confronting America.
