[upbeat rock music] Good Friday, everybody. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
• 0:18
It's the Full Spectrum Cycling Podcast that's sometimes about cycling and- It's cycling everywhere... sometimes about other stuff. That you cycle to. That you might cycle to. Yeah. Or- Back Away from...
• 0:31
you might recycle when you, you know- Upcycle... throw a can in the garbage, or you might upcycle when you make a nice coat out of that piece of, uh, I don't know, cowhide- And B Cycle-...
• 0:41
that's been lying in your back room. And B Cycle, that is the rideshare that, down in Nashville, Tennessee. So we got B Cycle up here too, don't we? Isn't that what they call them up here?
• 0:50
Isn't that what they were called in Madison for a while? Somewhat, something. Well, that's the one that's, uh, I still get email- [laughs] [laughs]... alerts about that one. What do they call them?
• 0:58
They went to electric. I don't know. They've got white ones here that are electric. We got- The ReB Cycle. Wow. Hey, that, we're already, like, way into the show and heckin' A. How's it going, guys?
• 1:12
Uh, we got Tony over there. Yep. Got his... Is that a wool hat or- Uh, I believe it is a wool knit hat, yes. It's knit by somebody's- It's super nice... mom who had nimble fingers.
• 1:23
My friend, my f- my friend and Molly Knight's first roommate, Jan, rest in peace. She just passed away. Oh, that's- Cancer. Wow. Yeah. How's her mom doing? Uh, her mom is still alive. There you go.
• 1:36
Sometimes it skips a generation. Yep. JK- JK's there... is over there. He's got the Boba Fett shirt on, uh, today. Yeah. Ta-da. Tastes like chicken. Bob-a Fett. He's surprisingly spry today, JK.
• 1:50
[laughs] [laughs] JK- He is... JK and I went to see t- uh, explain to me again how to say Scott's last name, 'cause I just kept- Biram... pooping it up, but- Scott H. Biram. Scott H.
• 2:02
Biram was- I don't even know if I'm saying it correctly... sick as- Oh, hell, yes. It was- He was the one man, the dirty old one man band. Well, I, so the last dirty old one man band we saw was Joe Buck, yourself. Yes.
• 2:13
But this was- In the same vein... but this was more what I was kind of expecting from Joe Buck, 'cause when we saw him it was more of a- Strip down... yeah, more of an- Yeah, just having a, like-... acoustic gig. Yeah.
• 2:23
And this was a full on, several amp, one guy, thumping box thing- Right... loud, noisy business. Swift. It was great. Swift kicking. I'd like to- Swift kicking...
• 2:34
I'd like to call it, like, m- m- it's, it's country-ish, but it's also n- like, noisy country. I don't want, uh, what, what kind of, uh- Uh... bucket would you throw that into?
• 2:46
What do you classify, like, 357 Strickland as? Yes, yes. Like dirty bluegrass. Street punk? Dirty bluegrass. Yeah. Like dirt, like dirty bluegrass. Street grass is what, isn't that what 357 used to say? Crust grass.
• 2:55
Cr- Cr- Yeah... crusty grass or something. Street grass. I mean, yeah, if you're gonna make a bin and label it- Yeah... yeah, that would be close to it... then throw something in that.
• 3:02
And to be fair, he did do a bunch of covers that were not necessarily originally crust grass, but they sort of turned a little into it. Yeah. It was great. I was very, I was- Well, it was awesome- It was awesome...
• 3:12
'cause we were just standing there before the show and it's like, "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
• 3:17
Oh, hey, I kinda know you and I kinda know you" and I'm looking around the group, and then all of a sudden I just see a guy, and I'm like, "Well, that's him." Oh, yeah. It's the dude. [laughs] That's Scott.
• 3:28
[laughs] And he's just like, "I'm just hanging out." It's the guy. Like- You know? [laughs] I'm like, "Yes!" Yeah, between- So-... the HR show and this one, we're just, like, hanging out. I'm like, "Yes." Yeah.
• 3:36
Yes, yes, yes. Oh, and when Joe Buck was here, I walked around the room- Yeah... with him for, like, 10 minutes. I'm like, "Who, who influenced you- Yeah... that's on the wall?" You know?
• 3:42
And he's like, "Yeah, that guy was awesome." Yeah. Blah, blah, blah. Same thing. Yeah, yeah.
• 3:47
But the, what I always wonder is, because when these people come through Milwaukee, we get, I mean, there might've been 50, 60 people there. That's probably- Yeah, in that zone... buttering it up just a little bit.
• 4:00
But if they were in any other Nashville or Chicago or bigger place, would, you know, you wouldn't get that kind of access to the person that you do- Hell no. No, no, no... that you would at a small club like here.
• 4:11
Speaking of that, did, did you, uh, w- what's, what about Johnny 5 joining, who's he joining on tour? Is it Mötley Crüe? I don't know. Is it, he's gonna tour as their- You're making me sad already. No. What?
• 4:27
Um, yeah, I know. It's- Don't, no, no, no... but it's, speaking of, because I saw- Oh, no... Johnny 5, who is the, he's the guitarist gunman for, like, Katie Lang to Rob Zombie. Yeah.
• 4:38
He was also- And he plays everything. Yeah, and he was Marilyn Manson's guy for years. Yeah, for years. Uh, John 5 officially joins Mötley Crüe. See? October 28th, 2022. I mean- Repla- is replacing Vince Neil?
• 4:51
Well, does Vince Neil play guitar? I don't know. Does he? I don't know. That's a very- I don't know any Mötley Crüe songs... fair fans around there. Does anyone in Mötley Crüe play guitar?
• 4:58
Oh, it's, uh- I don't know any Mötley Crüe songs... he, it's, it's Mick Mars he's replacing in the band, so.
• 5:02
What I, what I like about, though, is if you, if you ever get a chance to see Johnny 5 live, you have to see him, 'cause it's f- freaking insane. He was at, also at Shank Hall. I saw him at Shank Hall. Yes. Yeah.
• 5:13
And that's where I just saw him. I, you, you guys, you guys- I was... you guys know Mikey Boy, uh, the photographer. Oh, yeah. He had some great shots- Yeah... from that show. I was there with him. Yep, yep, yep. Yep.
• 5:22
I was not at that show. You could touch him. And we rode bicycles there, so- You could literally, you could literally walk up-... for all-... and touch him and he would be totally okay. Yeah. He was shredding.
• 5:30
I mean- I'm sure... he was just, yeah, it was freaking unreal. Mötley Crüe. I can't- Well, you know what? That might be a good reason to see- I kept having to run in front of the girls...
• 5:38
last time I saw Mötley Crüe wasn't that long ago at Summerfest, and I'm like, "Yeah, that's the last time I'm gonna see those guys."
• 5:43
He, the, the whole thing with, with Johnny 5, wow, we're going into a really weird tangent, is my nephew has seen, has seen him at, like, a schoolhouse in the middle of Wisconsin, and he said, "I practice every day.
• 5:54
It doesn't matter if it's me by myself or anywhere else." He's like, "So if I'm here playing for you guys," and he said, he saw him with, like, 50 people And this guy freaking shreds- Yeah...
• 6:08
and 50 people are there, and he's like, "I would be doing this-" He's l- doing a practice soundcheck... he's like, "I would be doing this at home by myself anyway, so why don't I do it in front of you?"
• 6:17
I mean, that's a pretty cool cat y- when you are that unbelievably talented. I was trying to, uh, see if we could pull cycling back in and see if John 5 [laughs] rides a bike. I...
• 6:29
What came up second though is the Dave Clark Five ride a bike. I, I don't know if- Mm... they all were ri- yes, they are all riding the same bike. One, two, three, four, five people- Oh, nice...
• 6:41
on a- On a five, a five tandem? Yeah, what do you call it? I don't know what you call those. What, a penta- pentadum-something? Yeah.
• 6:49
[laughs] Yeah, there's actually a picture on Rides a Bike, which is the website, uh, of the Dave Clark Five riding a five-person- Person bike... well, to be fair, they all have their feet on the ground.
• 7:01
So they're not riding it they're just on it. They're like by a curb and they... It's, you know, but maybe they rode it. That is a cool-ass bike. It's got a really- It's-... it's got a really cool fork. I mean, with what?
• 7:11
One, two, three, four... 450 pounds minimum on the thing. Right. You gotta have something strong. Prob- probably more like 600 maybe. Who knows? But, uh, yeah, the fork is kind of a, a, a... It's where...
• 7:22
I'm gonna have, I'm gonna just, uh- Y- we should in the show notes-... copy and paste this thing. [laughs]... uh, in, in the show notes we should also... Do you know that there's supposedly like a
• 7:31
five-person or maybe bigger tandem in the sub-levels of the Milwaukee Museum? I did not know that, but they're moving the museum- If, if you, if you look-... here in the Milwaukee... uh, if you look back, um,
• 7:45
Michael Horn did a story about it for- Ha... for- Just saw that guy... right, yeah, for, for- Oh, no, I just saw him today... Urban Milwaukee. [laughs] And apparently there's a very, one of the former
• 7:57
public curators, uh, museum curators, was a bike guy. Oh, right on. So apparently there's a level that has some very unique... It's got some of the Waukesha-made bamboo bikes. Um, it's got a bunch of penny-farthings.
• 8:10
It's got a bunch of, you know, just bone shakers and stuff like that. And there's supposedly the story is they're never gonna see public eye. Well, that seems sorta sad.
• 8:19
Instead they're gonna have typewriters because that's the, where the QWER- the QWERTY keyboard was invented in Milwaukee. Where was Dvorak invented? I don't know. Dvorak? Dvorak? Dv- Dvorak. So yeah, Dvorak.
• 8:30
[laughs] Whatever. That one. Dvořák? The one that I, I don't know how to use. Dvořák? I don't know how to use either one. Dvořák? Well, I, with, I got the same two fingers I'm using. Right. Right.
• 8:37
And, and a pinky and a couple of thumbs. Yeah. Uh, but yeah. There's a couple guys don't really get involved when I type. Just these guys here. [laughs] Yeah. QWERTY is- My-... was invented-... ring, ring finger...
• 8:46
right across the street where the- What the fuck you doing, ring finger? Yeah, anyways... the journalist now. I do this in the key of G. [laughs] Which I always feel is the saddest of all the keys.
• 8:55
[laughs] Oh, speaking of that, our friend Joe Huber is opening in Minneapolis last night. To whom we spoke yesterday- Of the Scott-... since he was sitting right in front of us at the show [laughs] last night.
• 9:07
And yeah, heckling him, or [laughs] heckling you. Uh, there was a, there was this- No... kind of fairy running around the place, heckling a little bit and dodging in and dodging out, and I think his name was JK. Wow.
• 9:17
Everybody else was sitting down in their seats and kind of just, you know- Chilling... listening and, and JK [laughs] was being the, um, unpaid entertainment. I hate to, uh- [laughs] Just diving in.
• 9:28
I hate to, uh, one-up- I'm like, "I have to go to the bathroom and I might as well make it," uh, uh, "an interval." I hate to one-up, but bring this back into biking and music, but- We did... I picked up Mr.
• 9:38
Huber on my first Xtracycle and rode him to my house to build his first recording computer. You actually rode on Joe Huber? He, he rode on the back of my Xtracycle. Oh, there you go. [laughs] So when you rode him?
• 9:54
Oh, ha ha ha. You're funny. [laughs] I rode... He was my passenger. There you go. He was my passenger. So you, you built him his computer?
• 10:02
I built him his first recording computer, and it actually, unfortunately, was not a good computer, so I apologize, Joe. So you're not really doing much for your custom computer building- It was like-... skills... 20-
• 10:13
no, it was 2003. Macintosh. Five. Macintosh, Macintosh II fx back then. Yeah. Come on. Macintash. Macintash. [bell ringing] Hey, you know what I was doing trying to clean up the other shop? Guess what we got there?
• 10:26
Macintosh II fx. Guess what they go for now? Lots of money. Yeah. Right? Like thousands of dollars. Cool. I'm like, let's sell that thing, please. Somebody buy me please.
• 10:38
So it's top of the hill over here apparently already. Yeah. Thank God. Can get off this rail, train- Ooh... derailment. These are, uh, these were here from last week that, uh, we had a plethora of beers, and JK- Wow...
• 10:51
brought this. Ooh, these are, these are hefty. Hazy Beer Hug from Goose Island. That's a Chicago brewery, which we- Exactly... normally would not do, but- Budweiser. But here's the thing.
• 11:03
This is, this is what you, this is what your $12 can get you at the Rave Eagles. Was it 12? Yes. For one can? For one can. 11. I thought it was 11. 12. What's it? 12. 12. Oh, sure. That's [laughs] whatever.
• 11:17
In that- There's no uh... in, in that conversation. Yeah. But it's, if you take, hey, I'll ha- I'll take this or a fucking Busch Light. For eight. No. Which is terrible too. No, no, no. It was more than eight.
• 11:29
It was like at least 10, I think. No, I think there was a- With tip... uh, oh, with... I, I- Well, if you're ordering a fucking Busch Light, I'm sorry, you're probably not tipping. Well. Okay. Am I being- All right.
• 11:40
Ooh, God. That's a good study. Ooh. [laughs] That would be a great study. I'm like, hey, hey. Get your, get your spreadsheets out, folks. Joe Klaassen- We're gonna be doing some-...
• 11:46
from Pius High School, my old sociology professor. Yep. [laughs] I think this is him right near Willow's. All right, so I don't, I, we have, we- So this is what you would get. Yeah. Yeah.
• 11:54
Have we had this before or is this just because- No... you got it there? Okay. 'Cause he bought it there for- Well, it's got the, uh-... $12. And how much was the six-pack? [laughs] Nine, eight. Yeah, not $12.
• 12:04
[laughs] Yeah, exactly, which I just found to be entertaining. So now I feel like I'm at a show at The Rave, which- Mm-hmm Next Friday, I want to be- Oh, no... Matt Pike versus the Autonomon, Autonomaton.
• 12:18
Matt Pike of the Sleep and, oh, uh- Uh... High on Fire. Well, if it weren't for JK, I wouldn't have been at Scott H last night. So I rely on him to kind of pull us- He knows his music... pull me into the, uh- [laughs]
• 12:32
... into the, the thingamajig. And also- It's like I wanna go, I need to go to this thing. [laughs] I mean, I know this guy. He, he kicks around, like last night's-
• 12:41
You, you may- But might as well, because I don't know, next time it may- Lower level again? No, no. This was at Shank. No, I mean for, for n- Pike? Hopefully... for next Friday.
• 12:51
Yeah, I mean, that's the only- I guess Yeah. I guess hopefully. I, I don't know. Well, just remember- [laughs]... Schlowowski asks you for a playlist. I d- I don't know if- I-...
• 12:58
that's per show or we should just- That's what I'm thinking... kinda keep a running show... I'm ke- I'm keeping an eye on that one, because I've, I, already from- That's a good idea...
• 13:05
from here, from- It'll be better than listening to the show... fr- from beginning- Well... well, from the beginning- I think it's better than listening to the show... of this show, I'm j- I'm just going like, oh, yeah.
• 13:12
I'm like, I can already pick out, like four tracks- Sure. It doesn't have to be-... of, of conversation- Yeah... already. So yes, Iggy Pop, Passenger will be in there, because you were saying Passenger, Passenger.
• 13:23
It does not have to be longer than the show. We don't want to overshadow the- No. No, no, no... the beautifulness that's the show. Oh. So g- less- One, in one week-... 30 minutes...
• 13:31
in one week it'll be this reference, reference, and reference. Gotcha. Well, let's see how that works next week. Oh. Oh. That'll actually- Wait, wait... that'll actually- I got a better idea...
• 13:38
that'll actually make me have to listen to the goddamn- I have a better idea... podcast. [laughs] So you do an overlay- I have a lower goddamn-... to the podcast so you can start that in one browser, or in one tab.
• 13:50
Yeah, it's like fucking, uh- And then the, the podcast in another, and they'll just overlay each other. I like that idea. 'Cause we can't like technically- Hello. Hello... play them. Hello...
• 13:57
we could, we could y- Hello... JK can announce the playlist. Is there anybody in there? Hello. Of course there's gonna be now Pink Floyd. Yeah, it has to be.
• 14:04
[laughs] 'Cause it's the Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon mashup. See, we got the SOG on. Oh, that's a good one. So- That's a big thing in Colorado, by the way...
• 14:12
all this chatting about our show, which is what- We rode our bikes to every-... we're doing right now... every, every thing that we were talking about...
• 14:18
I, I've been thinking about our holiday show schedule, because- Schedule... by cracky, it's coming up pretty quickly here. Oh, oh.
• 14:24
Uh, you know, it's like we're, we're on right now talking to you this week, right here on Friday. But I don't know. Chewy's got a show in the can. Maybe we, uh, throw that up next Friday and take a little break.
• 14:35
I can figure. Yeah, I'm okay with breaking. I'm kinda thinking we're off Good Friday anyway, 'cause I don't know who's in town or has- Good Friday. The Friday after- Yeah... Thanksgiving. Oh yeah, Black Friday.
• 14:45
Good Friday. [laughs] Whatever. Yeah, Black Friday. Yeah, Good- That, that thing. Yeah, it's the, it's the- Oh, yeah... Good Friday- Well, we're gonna be off-... for those with disposable incomes...
• 14:52
we'll be off Good Friday too, but, uh, that's not till- [laughs]... March or April or whatever. Anyway, you know, I don't know. Are you running a fever? Are, are you okay? [laughs] Are you still toasted?
• 15:01
I, I- What's going on? I am not. [laughs] I'm a little worried that you've suddenly gone all religious on us, and you're talking about the old Good Friday. Testify.
• 15:07
Well, it's 'cause I think of Good Friday as Black Friday, so. Aha, yeah. Black metal on Good Friday. I think that should be a playlist right there. That should be a, that should be an album.
• 15:16
Speaking of black metal, oh yeah, also if that, if we did that, we wouldn't be back in your ear hole till December 2nd. It's, it's just an idea. Talk amongst yourselves. Happy Thanks-taking season, everyone. Yeah.
• 15:30
[laughs] Ooh. Uh, what? Too soon? [laughs] I, I don't take or give. I just kinda like let it go. I just find it as an excuse- I just, I, I like it... for no idea what's happening this Thanksgiving...
• 15:40
making, making delicious food. Ham. Okay. Just making delicious- Speaking of not- Just making- All right... delicious food. I was- That's all...
• 15:46
I was hipped to this thing at Ian's Pizza, which I am not a fan of, 'cause Ian's Pizza pretty much sucks. Mm. Well. Depends on your mood. But they apparently have a Thanksgiving pizza that- Yes...
• 15:58
has gravy and mashed potatoes and, and, and- And doesn't suck... [laughs] and my buddy's like, "Normally I give Ian's about a four. It sucks up some beer. It's not that bad. But this is an eight," he says to me. Well.
• 16:11
So and you got your turkey, and you got your gravy, and you know, you got your stuffing on there. Their, their spicy chicken Thai pizza's pretty fucking delicious.
• 16:18
I just, it's not so much the pizza- I mean, but I would rather go to support-... local... River West, River West Pizza. You know? Local pizza. You know. It is local. I think they got in trouble- It's regional local...
• 16:27
for no clucks given. Well, that's how Turkey Hill's- Uh, because it's a sandwich at, uh, Crafty Cow. Oh. Oh. I think they might've had it first. So now you have to go in and ask them- So did they, did they trademark it?
• 16:40
I don't know. You have to go in and ask them for... It's a, it's a special order. It's the exact same price. It's just you have to order, you know, the- You have to wait... "Can I get the," you know.
• 16:50
I, I just say, you know, "Basically make me a no clucks given," and they do. It's like the- It's like the In-N-Out Burger, if you know the right things to say, you get the special one that's not on the menu.
• 16:59
Oh, is that right? I don't know. Apparently so. Never been to an In-N-Out Burger. Oh gosh, first thing I do when we land in Vegas is go to In-N-Out Burger [laughs] 'cause there's not one within 1500 miles- Oh, is-...
• 17:09
of here... is that where Aaron Rogers's next destination is? Oh my, is that too soon too? Oh, no. I need to go and return and reunite with my Davante Adams. There's a reason I'm not doing well.
• 17:20
We're not talking sports, because we're, we don't have anything- Have no idea what you're talking about... to talk about. [laughs] No, exactly. I have no idea what you're talking about.
• 17:25
No, no, this is just the personality of an Aaron- Just saying we've, we- Rogers. Yeah... Wisconsin, well- Sharon Rogers... on the football side, we haven't got much- Sharon Rogers... to talk about this year.
• 17:35
Karen Rogers. Arrogantrogers.com, which I still own. Oh, nice. [laughs] Got a... Hey, anybody out there, got a big fat stack of cash, you can- How are you not making money off that?
• 17:45
'Cause I haven't done anything with it yet, 'cause I got like nine million other things to do. Like sit here- And you wanna start some road-... with you fine people and s- s-... like you wanna start a nice road rage.
• 17:53
Just start printing like arrogantrogers.com stickers and putting them on the back of windshields and just watch people just like- Remember his football face when he fell on the ground. Yeah, the, "Ah." The winds. Yeah.
• 18:05
It was- Yeah... so that would be a T-shirt right there- Yeah... for sure. Just trying to figure out how to... I'm not an artiste. You probably wanna sell them online under a fictitious company or some- Why?...
• 18:16
shuffle because- It's not trademarked... pe- people will find you and kill you if they see, you know, that you're- Don't care... distributing that anti-Air Sharon Rogers shirt. Don't care. Just, uh, you know... Hello.
• 18:30
Matt Gates is coming back from the dead to beat Michael up over there. [laughs] Oh, fucking asshole. You bastard. Yes, there will be no election chatter today. Exactly. Except this little- Mm. We don't go into that.
• 18:41
[laughs] We're not going... It's not that kind of podcast. All right. So- Mm-mm... I don't know, what do you guys think of the show schedule idea? It's- Schedule? Uh,
• 18:47
Chewy has one in the can, so it's gonna go up next week anyway. It might as well be Friday. Right. There's just a break.
• 18:52
We haven't, we haven't- And then the week after that- That said, though, there's a- Is the week, is the week after that, uh, Thanksgiving? I won't know until my Wednesday... the Wednesday before Thanksgiving- Yeah...
• 19:00
or the Friday after Thanksgiving- Right... depending. That said, we haven't had a combo breaker yet, so I'm not sure this idea is that good. Eh. After four years- Either way... can we take a break? Is, are we allowed?
• 19:11
All right. When we come back. Well, if anybody comments on full spectrum cycling and says, [laughs] "Don't do it, you jackasses," then we'll have to keep going.
• 19:19
But since, like- Or if we talk to somebody that was like, "Oh, hey, remember when I, uh, when you asked- I have-... when you asked me if I wanted to be a [laughs] guest on your podcast?
• 19:28
Yeah, I actually am free this Wednesday." [laughs] All right, then no. That, that might be a... Yeah. Yeah, we've been kinda slacking on the get... Oh, you know what?
• 19:35
I haven't even been looking at the Cullin Studio [laughs] call screener lately. Oh, what? Oh. There's nobody on there. What about Big Sexy? You know what? I believe he's, uh, wintering over there- Mm...
• 19:46
in Minneapolis- Mm-hmm... if I remember correctly. Mm-hmm. We do need to get a Sexy Big Z now- He is, uh, enjoying his, uh- Working at a- Maybe, maybe we'll do a little- Something about the work... stock.
• 19:55
Yeah, he's, uh- He got a- Third shift stock. Yeah. Maybe we should just- I would too... get a little few minute sh... I could just call him up and say, "Let's do a quick one." Yeah, but if you're doing a- A quickie.
• 20:05
Let's do a quickie Big Sexy. Yeah, but if you're, if you're doing third shift, guess what? He's sleeping right now. Yeah, he's sleeping. Yeah. [laughs] True that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
• 20:15
Uh, the, you know, the fat bike season here in, uh, the Midwest is firing up actually this weekend here coming up now tomorrow with a couple of things. Well, at least one thing.
• 20:25
The Backyard Fat Bike Series begins in Beloit on the 12th. Beloit. That would be tomorrow. Beloit. That's below it. And then next weekend is Your Huge Ass. So here's my thing about that. You're a huge ass.
• 20:36
You might wanna get a fat bike, and guess who has fat bikes? [gasps] Every day cycle. We have a couple of... We got, we got, we got more than I need here, I'll tell you that much. Too many dicks in the damn shop.
• 20:47
Too many bikes... Yeah, too many bikes in the bike shop. Ice cream trucks complete as Surly intended, and then, even better, Wednesdays as frames that we intended to make better.
• 20:59
Because I'll tell you what, I don't know how long- We will make you better...
• 21:02
I don't know how long people have been riding Surlys, but they always were a great value, and they still are, which I would say the Wednesday is a great value as a complete.
• 21:09
However, things have become more expensive, so you're not quite getting maybe the top-est quality stuff on your bike anymore. Well, you buy one of our customs, you are. You are. That's what I'm telling you. You are.
• 21:22
That's what I'm saying. We're getting good stuff on there. They're pretty fancy. I'm gonna have a link in the show notes if you- Yeah, yours is super fancy. I gotta get- Yeah, you know what, though?
• 21:30
I gotta get my low side up and running again. I'm not sure I'm gonna keep it because I'd like to...
• 21:34
We're, we're kind of running thin here at the shop till the season starts up for us and, uh, I'd sell that thing heck and a right now right out the door.
• 21:42
We're gonna have to strip this thing down and- Also because I found all the parts for my ape, which I stole to put on that bike. But the ones from before, I didn't...
• 21:50
I forgot I had a set of wheels with Paul hubs on it and stuff. I'm like- Oh, those'll go nice on your ape... yes, but they will be 50 millimeter rims, so they will not be as floaty as possible on a,
• 22:02
on an, uh, a Wednesday. What do you have, what do you have on it now? 80? On the Wednesday? All of them are 80s, yeah. Yeah.
• 22:10
We use Sun Ringlé rims on the two of them, and mine's got s- an old set of Onyx hubs with Sarma Nolan carbon rims. Carbon. Just because those wheels- Carbon?... have been around for- Carbon fibers...
• 22:23
all right, so, uh- All right... Gomez over there from thefatbike.com, uh, informed me today that the site certificate is, you know, giving you that error where you're like, "Oh, it's expired."
• 22:34
I go, "Well, it must have been five years because this would be- That's when they expire... right?" So I'm like, "Well, I didn't get a notification." I haven't been working on that site for five years apparently- Mm...
• 22:45
so it's like, uh, try to- You into it? I'll try to fix it tomorrow. Yeah, otherwise it's gonna get sweet. I, I hope. Well, it's not the registration. It's just the secure- Oh... the HTTPS secure certificate for it.
• 22:58
Oh, the... So you have a, yeah, signed certificate. Yeah. Yeah, that makes it so your browser doesn't yell at you. It's like, "This could be faking it." I'm like- Yeah... "It's not faking it. Just c- click the button."
• 23:07
It's the same thing when I go to my, my Synology or- Oh, right. Yeah... remote site. Well, it doesn't happen to me anymore because I said, "Trust this site." So Ton- I go into it from anonymous...
• 23:16
Tony can now phish me from his [laughs] remote location. Yeah. I, yeah, I...
• 23:22
Uh, yep, okay, so Huge Ass Global Fat Bike Day event directory is getting filled up over there at fatbike.com when you can actually access it again, which hopefully will be now because I fixed it yesterday, but that's actually tomorrow, so I'm not sure if it'll [laughs] happen yet.
• 23:36
[laughs] Take me a second. [laughs] Did I, uh- Did you, did you, like, hear my gears grinding as you- Oh, yeah... were saying that? I'm like- I saw your eyes rolling, gears grinding... like, like, I'm like... Well,
• 23:47
ice cream trucks. You, you had the talk bubble up there. Wednesdays. Uh, oh, yeah, the ape, I'm not selling that. There's a... Here's what I'm thinking, though. I love that thing. I'm thinking maybe Lynskey gets a call.
• 23:58
Maybe they build titanium apes. That's what I'm thinking. Titanium. As soon as I hit that... Well, I can't anymore 'cause the $2 billion lottery was won. Yeah. By only one person, apparently.
• 24:11
And the shop gets a million bucks. That's pretty cool. So if you were Elon Musk or somebody or Bezos and you had $292 million, you could buy every ticket
• 24:19
And you would've had to share it with this guy, and you'd still have another 750 million you didn't have before I was talking about they could buy every lottery ticket. Right. [laughs] But even- Yeah...
• 24:29
there's so many times where they don't all win, but I suppose the rest of them that do win, a few- Did nobody learn the lessons from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory when- That's just a book, dude...
• 24:41
Violet- This is, this is- Not Violet... statistic. Uh- Veronica? No, not Violet. Uh- Violet?... the annoying child. The other annoying child. Oh. Oh. The- Man... like, "I want it now." Veruca Salt.
• 24:55
Why did I not know that? What a great band name. Exactly. Somebody should actually come up with that for a band. Somebody should call that name. It is one, God damn it. [laughs] And will be on your playlist, obviously.
• 25:03
[laughs] Yeah. Now it will. Now it is. Slow burn. A slow burn. And then I'm just gonna drop in a little Beastie Boys 'cause, you know, you should always have a little Beastie Boys.
• 25:10
[laughs] Now we're just feeding the playlist. Exactly. That- These, these playlists write themselves... just, it just, [laughs] just feed the monkey. Oh, oh, here's a, here's a nice one. Don't shock us.
• 25:20
Towards, towards the end of the show here- Oh... which I, I find very interesting. If you're looking for a new bike, might I tell you where to find one? Bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
• 25:29
Apparently, containers and ships and things sink, and Trek and Bell and a number of other suppliers are suing Maersk, one of the biggest cargo- Yeah... peoples, because their stuff's all- Well-...
• 25:41
lying on the bottom [laughs] of the ocean. So are a whole bunch of Volkswagens, Porsches, Lamborghinis. Yeah, that's in the Atlantic, though. Oh, are these Pacific? Yeah. Oh. Yeah, yeah. Somewhere in the Pacific.
• 25:51
Oh, we could probably get some good hauls out of that. I'm still curious. I- You could get specific- It came up-... probably, if you had the GPS coordinates, but- Hopefully no one's stealing bikes though.
• 25:57
They're in the Mariana Trench down there, about 35,000 feet down in the water. Yeah, I would- It came up in conversation about- I could do that and hold my breath. Yeah.
• 26:03
[laughs] You know what the pressure's like down there? Yeah, like, like- Pressure... there's no more bikes. [laughs] Well, there's, yeah, right. They probably- They're...... fail and floated.
• 26:11
Yeah, yeah, they'll, yeah, they'll totally- You're pulling up a really dense- Pretzel, yeah, a pretzel knot... very small object. [laughs] I don't know.
• 26:17
If any of them were made out of titanium, maybe you'd get a really nice little- Well, that came into conversation. We were talking, like, uh- God, that's a fascinating thing about-...
• 26:24
Redlines and, uh, PK Rippers and BMX, BMXicans [laughs] and whatever, and it was- Politically Incorrecticans. Right. And the, uh, [laughs] oh, you're a BMXican.
• 26:39
If you are a BMXer, that you, y- you're a BMXican, and why not? I'll- That's fair... I'm not gonna die on that hill, but I, I'm not, I'm not [laughs] gonna, like, w- what? That's good. It's clever, God damn it. Um,
• 26:54
but in g- my grade school years, eh, some buddies tried to do a little bit of, you know, insurance fraud, essentially. Grade school insurance fraud. Like, "Oh yeah, I got my shit stolen." They threw it or- No, no, no.
• 27:09
You just kinda swap bikes- Mm... kinda thing, and whatever. But they got hip to it, 'cause it's gra- it's a grade school racketeering- Yeah. [laughs]... fucking thing and whatever. So they got hip to it. Right.
• 27:20
I was not part of this, but I was just on, they were friends of mine, and watching it on the sidelines. And over by Southridge there used to be a quarry.
• 27:29
Now it's a subdivision, and I'm not sure if they, like, really drained that quarry completely or whatever. So there's some bikes in there? Oh, hell yeah. There's poltergeist BMX bikes? Yeah, Kuwaharas are in there.
• 27:42
Be a good brand name for it. Some Haros, man. It's just like- Be a good brand name for it... fuck yeah. BMX brand poltergeist. I think they should- Yeah. [laughs]... look into that. Oh, man. Ghost bikes.
• 27:50
I miss that quarry. [laughs] Well, for no other reason, well, it was, like, one of those quarries that, where you had to jump. You had to launch just enough to get to the, not, not get, you know, skewered. Gorged. Yeah.
• 28:06
[laughs] Skewered on a- So was it clear enough that you could see all these BMX bikes- Yeah... on the bottom of the water? Like the Lanning Quarry- No... you could see the- No...
• 28:13
you could see when it, the water came in so fast- No way. [laughs]... they left a Caterpillar tractor down there. It was clearly visible- Mm... 60 feet underwater or whatever. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no.
• 28:21
Red Granite Quarry had a lot- No, this, this was a, this was a-... of heavy equipment at the bottom of it... yeah, 'cause once you, once you poke a hole, it does- That's it. Now you're done... it fills up really fast.
• 28:28
This was a, this was a tiny quarry, so it was kinda- Yeah, this was a huge- This was kinda like-... like- Yeah, like dishwater... Red Granite, they do scuba training- This was not, this was not a clean-... and stuff.
• 28:38
It was frightening... clean thing. I almost died there doing some cliff divings. I used to love to cliff dive. I've got a query. Shall, [laughs] shall we [laughs] say good- A query? Well, not a quarry. It's a query.
• 28:50
Shall we- A query?... shall we end? Query. Query. Query. Query. Query. Query. Query. Jeff Query. Yeah. Number 85 for the- I am querying you... White Lightning. About, [laughs] about- Why's it gotta be all weird?...
• 29:01
about it's time to end the show, everybody. Thank you very much for stopping in. Yeah, there you go. And, uh- We just blather now. Right? I can't believe that was a half hour of just nonstop- Blathering... fun.
• 29:09
But we rode our bike all through it. Right? Right. Hey, speaking of riding our bikes, it was 75 yesterday. Mm. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Mm. Today, not as much. Exactly. Cold as crap. That's why I'm working from home.
• 29:22
I'm actually working working. [laughs] Oh, good for you. Good. Working working. All right, everybody. Well- Stay warm. [laughs] I don't know. We may see you next week, or you might hear Chewie.
• 29:30
Sometime you'll hear Chewie, but I don't know. Maybe it's on a Friday. I don't know. Oh, Chewie. Maybe you won't hear us till December 2nd. I have no idea. Who knows? Just an idea. Doesn't mean we can't- We never know...
• 29:39
change our minds. Happy birthday. Happy birthday instead. And, you know- In case... it's just time to hear that fancy song. Eat bacon. Oh, crap, we didn't even go over the bacon recipe.
• 29:50
[laughs] All right, pulling this back. Here we go. We gotta... I asked, okay. I asked JK about his bacon mastery, because when we go on rides- Procedure it is... procedure.
• 30:03
When we go on rides, he often has a pound or more bag of bacon that's been made the night before. Pepper. And it's made in an oven. Pepper. And I, my friend had asked, "How does he do it in the oven?"
• 30:14
I go, "I don't know. You throw it in the fucking oven. I have no idea." But apparently there is a procedure for said good bacon In the oven. Do tell Great- All right... bacon. Cold oven. Don't even look at the oven.
• 30:28
Starting with a cold oven. Just don't even think about the oven yet. Okay. So however you want, like a baking sheet of whatever, then throw some foil on it. Yeah. You know, wrap it around just so it's easier to clean.
• 30:44
Right. Like it, like it. Then put in as much bacon- Beer down... as you want. And- Fortunate-ly, it was mostly drunk. Yes. The, uh- [laughs] Do you need space between the bacon, or is it just you can pile- Well-...
• 30:57
it up on itself? Any way you want to. I mean, how mu- however much bacon you have, whatever fits. Gotcha. And then just throw a shitload of pepper on it. And- Ground pepper? Well, how are you getting the pepper- Any...
• 31:10
consistency? Yes. Okay. Gotcha, gotcha. Both. Okay. I've got, like, four different grinds, so. Nice. Okay. I mean, and, but whatever you got, you know? He's- Of course-...
• 31:21
not letting all his secrets out, people Yeah, we're not, we're not done yet, though. Yeah. We haven't even- No... we haven't even fired- And now-... the oven up yet... now you th- now you throw it in the oven.
• 31:30
Then you close the door, and then you hit 400. And then at the same time you hit 400 start, you hit the timer 30 minutes, 30 minutes from when you hit the button, not 30 minutes on a- Not from when it's preheated to 400.
• 31:45
Gotcha. Okay. Yes. Boom. Gotcha, gotcha. And then- Gotcha... so within 25 to 35. You're gonna check it along the way. Yeah. Well, in the 20 zone. That's, that's, I- Okay... I, I- Okay. You hit it, then what?
• 31:56
Then you take it out and you eat it. And you, you got crispy- It's done? You got crispy bacon. [laughs] The nice thing about the bacon- No flip, nothing? Just, just eat it? No, take it out- All right. Like it...
• 32:04
put it on paper towels. Well, here's the deal is- Ah, paper towels... right, the next- See ya [laughs]... day, 'cause he always makes it the night before- Uh-huh... the next day in the baggie it's still- Fantastic...
• 32:14
edible, not gooey and crappy- Nope, nope... and rancid and shitty. And be, you know, yeah, or I'll do it- Tell ya... the morning of- So I-... or whatever...
• 32:20
now that we're on this weird tangent- You just, you just throw it in the freezer, and then depending on what time of year the ride is, sometimes it just- It's totally cute, man...
• 32:29
it just thaws out [laughs] along the way. Could be. Um, I have seen the light with- Hey... air fryer bacon. Ah. You can make so much bacon- Ah, yeah... so fast in an air fryer. You can do it with a microwave.
• 32:42
You can do it with- No- You can do it with a fucking oven... it's way better. You can do it with a stovetop. You can do it with- Way, way better... an oven. Don't. Stop. You can do it with a- Stop, stop...
• 32:47
you can do it with a torch. I know you're dissing. You can do it with a- I know you're dissing the air fryer. Yes. You can do it with a, a- Hey, kick ass... a space heater.
• 32:54
I'm not dis- You could do it on an- Easy-bake oven... oven. I could do it with a fucking- You have an adult-... lighter if I wanted, but I'm not. Yeah, you could do it with a really hot- Do you have an-...
• 33:00
radiator in your old school house. You could do it- Do you have an adult- You could do it-... Easy-Bake Oven is what you have. In between. I know. It's awesome. It's an adult Easy-Bake Oven. And it makes awesome bacon.
• 33:09
Is it pink at least? No. Okay. It's black, and it makes awesome bacon. [laughs] No, the bacon is still pink when it comes out [laughs] No, no, the bacon is nice and tender. It's done. You know what else you can make?
• 33:18
You can make it in between the, the valve covers of your V8 Chevrolet motor. In your damn- You can make bacon anywhere. You could probably put them on the side pans of a Volkswagen Beetle. You could do that.
• 33:29
Just don't put it in a goddamn air fryer [laughs] And they're awesome. All right, now- Don't listen to these people. All right. Da, da, dun, da, da, da, dun, dun, dun, da, da, dun.
• 33:41
  [upbeat music]
