- 0:16Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh
- 0:20Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:23Speaker 1: Trade Trendholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Thursday, July tenth,
- 0:31Speaker 1: two thousand twenty five. We will start today with this.
- 0:42Speaker 1: A man who watched too much Grizzly Adams and not
- 0:45Speaker 1: enough of The Revenant tried to help an injured bear
- 0:47Speaker 1: on the side of the road and it immediately mauled him.
- 0:55Speaker 1: My goodness, just no gratitude in the world anymore. Can't
- 1:04Speaker 1: even help a bear without it trying to kill you.
- 1:07Speaker 1: A fifty nine year old man in California tried to
- 1:09Speaker 1: help an injured bear on the side of the road
- 1:11Speaker 1: and it immediately mulled him. Happened late last month in
- 1:17Speaker 1: Humboldt County, near the Oregon border. They did not release
- 1:21Speaker 1: the man's name, but he's fifty nine, luckily still. One
- 1:25Speaker 1: report said he saw the bear get hit, but a
- 1:28Speaker 1: later report said he hit the bear with his car,
- 1:31Speaker 1: felt guilty about it and got out to render aid.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Of course, it is California Oregon border. They may actually
- 1:40Speaker 1: have laws that say you have to stop and render
- 1:42Speaker 1: aid to wildlife if you hit it with your car.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You pissed off the bear.
- 1:50Speaker 3: That's exactly what I was.
- 1:53Speaker 4: And also, I guess he's never heard the phrase that
- 1:55Speaker 4: there's nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Keep going.
- 2:03Speaker 1: You don't. First, you don't stop the car, get out
- 2:07Speaker 1: and go over to it and go you okay, It's
- 2:10Speaker 1: not that.
- 2:12Speaker 4: You put the window down and you drive by and
- 2:13Speaker 4: you go, my bad, and then just keep going.
- 2:16Speaker 3: How that should work.
- 2:18Speaker 6: I don't think people realize that bears are a fairly
- 2:21Speaker 6: elite killing machine.
- 2:23Speaker 1: They're very fast, and I know the reason. The reason
- 2:28Speaker 1: that so many people don't seem to realize that is cartoons.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It's mass media. So many people have been tricked thinking
- 2:36Speaker 1: that bears are only out for your Picannic baskets, when no,
- 2:42Speaker 1: they'll get the Picannick basket, but they'll tear through you first.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The picannic baskets just dessert.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they'll open you up and see what's inside and
- 2:51Speaker 2: then m hmm.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They know what's in the basket, they know that's the
- 2:55Speaker 1: good stuff. They just want to see what you got.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I witnessed this. I was in the Yellowstone years ago
- 3:07Speaker 4: for a buddy's wedding.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And we were.
- 3:09Speaker 4: It was in silver Gate, Montana, and we're staying at
- 3:12Speaker 4: the lodge and they're like, this is the north entrance
- 3:14Speaker 4: to Yellowstone. It was like, cool, we're driving around. There's
- 3:17Speaker 4: a baby bear and people have stopped now to take pictures.
- 3:22Speaker 4: And my thought was, if there's the baby bear, where's mom.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And so we kept.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Going and uh, we got to the news later was
- 3:33Speaker 4: h you could see the footage of the mama bear
- 3:35Speaker 4: coming out of the woods and none too happy about
- 3:39Speaker 4: the tourists taking pictures with the baby.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So that's when you see the baby bear. That's where
- 3:45Speaker 1: you need to remember the gift or that little little
- 3:48Speaker 1: scene in mad Max Fury Road where Tom Hardy when
- 3:52Speaker 1: Tom Hardy's character points out and says that's bait.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yeah, And uh they showed up like a mad dash
- 4:01Speaker 4: for people, like going to their cars and dropping phones,
- 4:04Speaker 4: like just to get out of the way of this
- 4:05Speaker 4: very angry mama bear.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And yeah, all of a sudden, they don't care about
- 4:09Speaker 1: the photo or the video.
- 4:13Speaker 6: I don't enjoy people hurting themselves as much as Raj
- 4:16Speaker 6: does a keyword as much, but one of the things
- 4:20Speaker 6: I absolutely enjoy is people being stupid with wildlife bears
- 4:27Speaker 6: elk elk are always a really entertaining one, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 6: the one ton seven eight foot Yeah, big strong animals. Yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 6: and the people just want to get right up close
- 4:40Speaker 6: and take a picture with them because sure.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Oh, I'm they must be nice. I'm almost positive though,
- 4:47Speaker 4: Running with the Bulls was made for me because I
- 4:52Speaker 4: watch that every time. I'm like, and I also watching
- 4:55Speaker 4: the Run of the Bulls. I'm like, he's first. I
- 4:57Speaker 4: could promise you he's first.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He's slow.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Now, I think it makes total sense because you watch
- 5:03Speaker 1: the Running of the Bulls and you make sure you
- 5:05Speaker 1: wear your bowls jersey.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I know who I'm rooting for.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I'm doing the hook horns. Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I don't know the thought process.
- 5:18Speaker 4: It's like, Okay, I accidentally hit this call something, call
- 5:21Speaker 4: Wildlife Services and be like, this is what happened.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I'm driving, I don't know the protocol. So do I stop?
- 5:28Speaker 7: Uh?
- 5:28Speaker 3: And I've called you? Do I keep going?
- 5:32Speaker 4: And it's also it's also California, so you could get
- 5:35Speaker 4: a ticket for being on the phone while driving, so
- 5:39Speaker 4: you can that could happen as well. But then just
- 5:43Speaker 4: listen to what they have to say and then proceed accordingly.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I have, especially in California. I just have a
- 5:50Speaker 6: feeling that you might get a quicker response from animal
- 5:53Speaker 6: control or you know, yes, an animal and distress and
- 5:56Speaker 6: you would just if you were in distress.
- 5:58Speaker 3: That's true.
- 6:00Speaker 6: So yeah, call somebody, call somebody who knows. Phono phono friend.
- 6:09Speaker 3: That should be Wildlife Service as a new motto, phono friend,
- 6:13Speaker 3: We'll be here for you.
- 6:15Speaker 1: So this fifty nine year old man who may or
- 6:18Speaker 1: may not have hit the bear that he tried to
- 6:20Speaker 1: give aid to on the side of the road. He
- 6:22Speaker 1: tried to give it a boost up over a concrete
- 6:25Speaker 1: barrier on the side of the road. This was not
- 6:27Speaker 1: a cub, by the way. It's a full grown, four
- 6:30Speaker 1: hundred pound black bear that's heavy. The bear didn't know
- 6:35Speaker 1: that he was trying to help, you know, because it's
- 6:38Speaker 1: a bear, and it chopped down on his left forearm
- 6:42Speaker 1: multiple times, like you know animals do. Luckily, an off
- 6:50Speaker 1: duty EMT applied a tourniquet to his arm and called
- 6:53Speaker 1: nine to one one. He was treated at a nearby hospital,
- 6:55Speaker 1: but again they did not release details like his name
- 6:59Speaker 1: or his condition. They do say, unfortunately, the bear did
- 7:03Speaker 1: not make it but at least he got a taste
- 7:05Speaker 1: of some human before before he passed over the Rainbow bridge.
- 7:12Speaker 3: His last meal delightful forearm white meat. How would you
- 7:20Speaker 3: like that rare? Please?
- 7:24Speaker 1: Nothing like a good human tartar before you cross over
- 7:27Speaker 1: into the void your treehouse.

- 8:04Speaker 1: last storm and whether or not it can withstand the
- 8:06Speaker 1: next one.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Absolutely, Dan, you know the storm season is year round here.
- 8:11Speaker 5: There is that prime storm season that everybody talks about,
- 8:14Speaker 5: which is our springtime storms when we got all that
- 8:17Speaker 5: golf moisture coming up and you got some cool fronts
- 8:20Speaker 5: coming through at night or in the afternoons, and that's
- 8:22Speaker 5: when everybody thinks about storm season. But we can have
- 8:26Speaker 5: random storms year round. We can have storms in July,
- 8:29Speaker 5: we can have storms in August, we can have storms
- 8:31Speaker 5: in December, tornadoes year round. It's a very freaky time
- 8:38Speaker 5: in DFW sometimes. So yeah, we want to make sure

- 9:39Speaker 1: Daniel Malley along with Trady Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Going
- 9:44Speaker 1: back to the guy in California, who thought it would
- 9:46Speaker 1: be a good idea to help this bear he had
- 9:49Speaker 1: just hit with his car. The bear promptly mauled his arm.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Would you stop and help an injured animal? Let me
- 9:59Speaker 1: be more specific, would you stop to help an injured
- 10:02Speaker 1: bear on the side of the road, whether or not
- 10:03Speaker 1: you did it?
- 10:05Speaker 3: No?
- 10:08Speaker 1: No, that's that's a hard pass, Trey.
- 10:14Speaker 6: I would stop and call somebody. But am I getting
- 10:18Speaker 6: out there with the bear?
- 10:19Speaker 3: No?
- 10:22Speaker 4: Not even giving a little boost over the over the
- 10:26Speaker 4: concrete barrier, just a little like a boy scout boost.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Did you put your your hands out and like get
- 10:31Speaker 4: his leg and just kind of hope to push him
- 10:33Speaker 4: over the side?
- 10:40Speaker 2: Not playing grab ass with the bear?
- 10:45Speaker 1: That right, there is option number one for episode title
- 10:48Speaker 1: grab ass with a bear, because that could have two meetings.
- 10:54Speaker 1: You're not laughing hard enough at that, all right, So
- 10:56Speaker 1: let's let's flip it around here. What if if you
- 11:00Speaker 1: saw a sloth trying to cross the road? Wohilch you
- 11:03Speaker 1: help a sloth trying to cross the road. I've seen this, yes, okay,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but help? Are you gonna help a sloth trying to
- 11:11Speaker 1: cross the road?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm saying very slow?
- 11:14Speaker 6: Yeah, But I would grab it from behind, under the
- 11:20Speaker 6: arms where it can't get me with it, because they
- 11:22Speaker 6: do have sharp claws.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, it's kind of hold it out in
- 11:26Speaker 1: front of.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not gonna, you know, swaddle it like a
- 11:29Speaker 6: baby and and try to burp it.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, slots are huggers, though, I mean, what if it
- 11:35Speaker 1: like turns and wants to just wrap its arms around you.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I'll give it a knuckle bump and be on my way.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Fair enough, speaking of things that are in danger, Trey,
- 11:47Speaker 1: are you okay? Because you sent me that video of
- 11:50Speaker 1: you shirtless, which f yi on the side note, Wow
- 11:54Speaker 1: you're looking good brother, h except for that really really
- 11:58Speaker 1: horrid sunburn. What were you doing shirtless outside? I'll let
- 12:06Speaker 1: you answer.
- 12:07Speaker 6: I I had wanted. I just I have not had
- 12:13Speaker 6: any time just to go sit outside, you know, just
- 12:16Speaker 6: chill for a little bit, and you know, I've and
- 12:20Speaker 6: because I just I wanted to get some color.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I am very white, and so I had a chance.
- 12:29Speaker 6: So I went out by the pool, sat down, listen
- 12:33Speaker 6: to a podcast literally for thirty two minutes. I was
- 12:36Speaker 6: outside for thirty two minutes, and that's what happened to me.
- 12:41Speaker 6: That's how white I was thirty two minutes. It looks
- 12:45Speaker 6: like a second.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Degree burn, it really does. I mean you even did,
- 12:48Speaker 1: like you didn't even just send us like you didn't
- 12:51Speaker 1: just send us the photo of you with the selfie
- 12:55Speaker 1: in the mirror and the sunburn. It was video of
- 12:58Speaker 1: you taking your hand, pressing it against your chest, removing
- 13:02Speaker 1: it so we could see the white and then the
- 13:05Speaker 1: red return. I mean it was very dramatic. It's dramatic stuff.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And you said you got this just hanging out by
- 13:12Speaker 1: the pool thirty two minutes. This had nothing to do
- 13:16Speaker 1: with you rollerblading down the Katie trail shirtless.
- 13:19Speaker 3: No, right, a little abba, little abba in the ear funds.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Abba all day long, but roller skating rollerblading, absolutely.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Not, because then if his chest was red, it'd be
- 13:29Speaker 1: from road rash, not from sunburn.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Yeah, just a little Mama Mia.
- 13:36Speaker 1: There's a lot of tray left on that road back there.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Do you guys call this like a base coat? Is
- 13:41Speaker 3: that what this is? Like?
- 13:43Speaker 4: Like like a primer, Like this is what you have
- 13:45Speaker 4: to do to go through to start the tanning process.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I'm guessing.
- 13:49Speaker 6: I had hoped, maybe just to get a little bit
- 13:52Speaker 6: of a foundation of a tan but instead like I
- 13:56Speaker 6: burnt myself.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Trey, have you ever been tanned, because for the majority
- 14:01Speaker 1: of the years I've known you've been, you know, pretty white,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and usually it's just sort of degrees of what if I.
- 14:14Speaker 6: There was a time in my life, but especially now
- 14:16Speaker 6: with skincare and everything else, and you know, I try
- 14:18Speaker 6: not to get although obviously I failed miserably.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I did put a little SPF on my face.
- 14:27Speaker 1: That's why your face looked good. But your body looks
- 14:30Speaker 1: like a strawberry. Yeah, I mean, Trey, you and I
- 14:33Speaker 1: have known each other for probably twenty five years or so,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and your skin tone I don't think has ever gotten
- 14:38Speaker 1: any darker than F five F five F five, which
- 14:41Speaker 1: if you ever do any work with color stuff online,
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's still pretty damn white. You know.
- 14:48Speaker 6: At my best lately in the last couple of years,
- 14:51Speaker 6: a good farmer tan from golfing.
- 14:54Speaker 7: But is it.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Is it going to do the the peel? Is it
- 15:01Speaker 4: gonna Is it gon appeal?
- 15:02Speaker 1: That's I would imagine, Yes, that's gonna appeal. And here's
- 15:05Speaker 1: the thing, it's gonna appeel so bad because his nipples
- 15:08Speaker 1: are burned too. You may have to you may have
- 15:10Speaker 1: to peel a little bit off your nips, Dray, that's awesome.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You should do that by the pool.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Also, I call it a white people molting.
- 15:20Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Ye white people do molt into a whiter person.
- 15:26Speaker 1: It's really gross when you go when we used to
- 15:28Speaker 1: go to Wet and Wild or Hurricane Harbor, there's just
- 15:31Speaker 1: husks of us around the Laser River. Yeah, really gross
- 15:36Speaker 1: when you step in one.
- 15:37Speaker 3: It is.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Do you go from like diehard like Southern Baptists, and
- 15:43Speaker 4: then you molt into like Seventh Day Adventist, like I
- 15:46Speaker 4: don't know how it works, like a branch Davidian.
- 15:49Speaker 6: At some point there, I think I'm a couple of
- 15:52Speaker 6: moltings away from just being Mormon.
- 15:57Speaker 1: That's the final malt by.

- 16:55Speaker 3: Today.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I'm Dan, He's Trey. That's RAJ. Today is Thursday, July
- 17:00Speaker 1: hint two, Thy twenty five. A man got sucked into
- 17:05Speaker 1: a jet engine at a busy Italian airport and authorities
- 17:09Speaker 1: think it may have been suicide. I think that's going
- 17:17Speaker 1: to be accurate, whether or not he intended it. But
- 17:23Speaker 1: I'm going to say this, as tragic as suicide is
- 17:26Speaker 1: and can be, if you really want to go, if
- 17:32Speaker 1: you really want to go out, tossing yourself into a
- 17:36Speaker 1: commercial jet engine is one way to do it. And
- 17:39Speaker 1: that's one that is going to stand out to the
- 17:41Speaker 1: rest of us.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, because they also say, like there's that moment when
- 17:47Speaker 4: somebody does something as tragic as that, that there's a
- 17:51Speaker 4: split second, a few seconds of remorse, like if they're
- 17:54Speaker 4: jumping off a building, if they're like this said, this
- 17:56Speaker 4: doesn't give you any time. This is like more like
- 17:58Speaker 4: a oh and then that's that. Yeah, that's that's pretty
- 18:02Speaker 4: much it.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You're right, like if you do the jump off the
- 18:04Speaker 1: building thing, you may have a moment or two in
- 18:07Speaker 1: there to go like, oh I wish I had had
- 18:09Speaker 1: chocolate cake one more time, or oh I wish I
- 18:12Speaker 1: hadn't to jump whatever. You throw yourself into a jet engine,
- 18:15Speaker 1: you're not really getting a moment of that.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's and that's I mean horrific for the
- 18:23Speaker 4: people having to watch that, because I think that it
- 18:27Speaker 4: shuts everything down and they have to go in and
- 18:29Speaker 4: I guess they clean that out.
- 18:30Speaker 1: It's the same you're right, right, that is terrible for
- 18:32Speaker 1: all those people on board because their flights delayed. Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 1: that's not how you meant that though, right, you meant
- 18:41Speaker 1: the trouble of having to see that and witness it.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and then the people that have to there's technicians
- 18:47Speaker 4: that have to go in and clean it out, and
- 18:49Speaker 4: that's just I mean, that's got to be horrific as well.
- 18:51Speaker 4: So but yeah, it's just, well that's one way to.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I hadn't thought about that.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I didn't think about the ground crew that's got to
- 19:00Speaker 1: come in to hose that down.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I feel like they probably have to take the engine
- 19:05Speaker 2: apart at that point.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You know, yeah, because you want to make sure well
- 19:09Speaker 1: as best you can to get all the remains to
- 19:13Speaker 1: you know, go wherever those are supposed to go, if
- 19:15Speaker 1: you even bother with that. But yeah, I don't think
- 19:17Speaker 1: that engine's going to work anymore because it's got people
- 19:19Speaker 1: in it. But you're probably going to have to get
- 19:23Speaker 1: a new plane, so it is really inconvenient to the
- 19:27Speaker 1: passengers on the plane and their plans. But again, if
- 19:30Speaker 1: you really want to go out, that's a way that
- 19:34Speaker 1: is going to be pretty pretty quick. So I know
- 19:37Speaker 1: this is kind of morbid, but let's make sure we're
- 19:39Speaker 1: all on the same page here and have a reason
- 19:41Speaker 1: for asking this question. If you guys off yourself, we
- 19:47Speaker 1: need to tell each other your preferred method, So that way,
- 19:52Speaker 1: if you die in some method that is other than that,
- 19:57Speaker 1: then I'll know it was stage to look like a
- 19:59Speaker 1: suicid and you were in fact murdered, so then we
- 20:02Speaker 1: can start up the Treehouse Murder podcast and follow all
- 20:04Speaker 1: the steps to find out who killed you. In other words,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's important to know if you're gonna
- 20:08Speaker 1: do it, like, let's all make sure we know what
- 20:10Speaker 1: that method is so we can tell the authorities. Yeah,
- 20:12Speaker 1: he meant that as opposed to he slipped on a
- 20:14Speaker 1: banana peel right into a jet engine.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yes, because this is Looney Tunes after all, Like I'm
- 20:25Speaker 4: dying the method of the Three Stooges.
- 20:27Speaker 3: That's how I go.
- 20:30Speaker 1: You don't have to tell me now, I'm just saying
- 20:31Speaker 1: if you ever do, just you know, let me know. Well,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'll let each other know. So that way that was
- 20:36Speaker 1: the preferred We can put it in an envelope kind
- 20:37Speaker 1: of like like who wins the Oscar? So if it does,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I can open it in front of the authorities and
- 20:42Speaker 1: go like, no, no, no, this is how he wanted
- 20:43Speaker 1: to go.
- 20:44Speaker 4: So to avenge my death, like you won't gone a
- 20:47Speaker 4: suit and roam the night fighting crime. You'll just add
- 20:52Speaker 4: another show to the Treehouse branch of shows that podcasts
- 20:58Speaker 4: that you have.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I might be able to you both. It depends. It
- 21:01Speaker 1: depends if you deserved it or not.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Oh okay, so you're gonna be a superhero night and
- 21:06Speaker 4: a podcast.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Podcast.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Man, God, that sounds terrible. I think I'd rather be
- 21:17Speaker 1: the Green Lantern.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Cape just has sponsors on it, Can I Can I change?
- 21:24Speaker 1: I kind of like Aquaman?
- 21:26Speaker 3: Now?
- 21:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean you would at least get a podcast special. Okay,
- 21:35Speaker 6: all right, I mean at least at least a special
- 21:39Speaker 6: Treehouse special.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Ups, the downloades.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Really does. I will say this though, if I don't know,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't know why. And again this is kind of morbid,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but just bury me momentarily here. If one of you
- 21:54Speaker 1: guys decided to kill yourself by throwing yourself into a
- 21:58Speaker 1: jet engine, I'm actually going to feel a little bit
- 22:02Speaker 1: less sad than I would if you had, you know,
- 22:06Speaker 1: stayed in the car with an on inside of a
- 22:09Speaker 1: garage or thrown yourself off a building, because at least
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'll know that that was truly what you wanted, Like,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you have to really want that.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Yeah, if I ever get sucked up in a jet engine,
- 22:20Speaker 6: it's you know, I got EPs Trendholm.
- 22:28Speaker 7: That's definitely behind a Paywalluse.
- 22:41Speaker 8: Listen us online Treehouse on Air dot com. You're on
- 23:00Speaker 8: air dot com.

- 23:11Speaker 1: slash at Treehouse on Air, Like and subscribe today to
- 23:16Speaker 1: the Treehouse Show podcast YouTube channel that YouTube dot com
- 23:20Speaker 1: slash at Treehouse on Air, Like and subscribe today. This
- 23:24Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey
- 23:26Speaker 1: Trendholm and Raj Sharma. It is that time again for
- 23:31Speaker 1: now the I think only third time, so let's really
- 23:34Speaker 1: really savor this. It is time for Trey's twatts right here,
- 23:41Speaker 1: that's the wrong button inside the Treehouse. Still don't have
- 23:44Speaker 1: a mega intro for you yet, but we'll get there. Yeah,
- 23:47Speaker 1: it's time for Trey. What do you have for us
- 23:51Speaker 1: inside of Tray's twats this week?
- 23:53Speaker 3: Uh?
- 23:53Speaker 6: This week we're gonna have two uh oh yeah. The
- 23:59Speaker 6: first is pretty much everyone who decided to take the
- 24:03Speaker 6: social media and.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Whether just say that.
- 24:08Speaker 6: I mean, some people said the you know, victims of
- 24:11Speaker 6: the flooding in Kerr County deserved it because you know,
- 24:15Speaker 6: like they said, can't mystic was racist and all white,
- 24:19Speaker 6: just or that you know, it was the National Weather
- 24:22Speaker 6: Service or FEMA or anything. Just let the people grieve
- 24:26Speaker 6: it wasn't, ye know. The most interesting stat of I
- 24:31Speaker 6: have heard yet is that basically there was the equivalent
- 24:35Speaker 6: of one day's worth of Niagara Falls that fell in
- 24:38Speaker 6: and drove that water, you know, in a matter of hours.
- 24:43Speaker 2: So please just stop. I mean, everything does not have
- 24:47Speaker 2: to be political.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was twenty feet and thirty minutes. Yes,
- 24:52Speaker 4: that's what they said.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was depending on where along the river it
- 24:57Speaker 1: was more than that, and even a lesser amount of time.
- 24:59Speaker 1: It's truly frightening, and I think that's part of the
- 25:01Speaker 1: reason why people will try to assign blame or what happened,
- 25:09Speaker 1: and they want to know and then they want to
- 25:11Speaker 1: know of something they can do to prevent it in
- 25:13Speaker 1: the future, when in reality sometimes there's nothing you can do.
- 25:18Speaker 6: It is the saddest thing to say. But at the
- 25:20Speaker 6: end of the day, this would fall under the category
- 25:23Speaker 6: of act of God. And that's just it's awful. I mean, yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 6: Lake Travis rose twenty two feet in two hours.
- 25:31Speaker 2: That is an enormous like that's that's a lake.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 6: So, and then the the other one is Ted Cruz
- 25:39Speaker 6: just because every time I have to see him, I
- 25:41Speaker 6: just he just ooks me out.
- 25:42Speaker 2: And so I just think he's.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That man needs to stop going out of town.
- 25:46Speaker 6: I mean, you know, I don't even you know, everyone's
- 25:50Speaker 6: like you was out of time. It was fourth of
- 25:51Speaker 6: July weekend. It's not like he had planned, you know,
- 25:54Speaker 6: it was, Yeah, it was out of town.
- 25:57Speaker 3: It wasn't like it was a hard freeze.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Or right exactly.
- 26:00Speaker 6: You know, he's got every time I in front of
- 26:04Speaker 6: a microphone on a regular basis, it just reminds me
- 26:06Speaker 6: that he's a twat.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got he's got miles to get rid of.
- 26:13Speaker 4: They don't they don't you know, roll over. Uh, he's
- 26:16Speaker 4: got to use his points, that's yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 7: I mean.
- 26:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like I don't understand of all the people
- 26:27Speaker 6: why he felt like he needed to be the point
- 26:29Speaker 6: person at times, and you know, in front of a
- 26:32Speaker 6: news conference, it's like there's local officials who have far
- 26:34Speaker 6: better idea.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that's a politician.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Oh yeah, he's never If there's anyone who's not going
- 26:41Speaker 6: to miss a media opportunity, it is Ted Cruise.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 4: You know he calls other people's like so should I
- 26:46Speaker 4: get on there, and they're like he wants to get
- 26:48Speaker 4: on the air again, Yeah, go for it, buddy, let's
- 26:50Speaker 4: and then they just want it down and go popcorn everyone,
- 26:53Speaker 4: let's see what he says.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, honestly, it's like, you know, moth's to
- 26:57Speaker 1: a flame, it's like Ted Cruz to an on air light.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah, he just can't resist it.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I do understand. It's like people want to try to
- 27:10Speaker 1: you know, there are definitely things that if there are
- 27:13Speaker 1: shortfalls and shortcomings in alert systems or you know, weather forecasting,
- 27:18Speaker 1: those things should be looked at because it's important that
- 27:23Speaker 1: after a tragedy that you analyze it to see if
- 27:27Speaker 1: there was, in fact anything that could have been done,
- 27:30Speaker 1: whether to mitigate the damage, to advance warnings, anything at all.
- 27:37Speaker 1: We do it in every tragedy. We do it. After
- 27:39Speaker 1: a plane crash, what happens. The NTSB comes in, they
- 27:42Speaker 1: start piecing everything together literally and try to figure out
- 27:45Speaker 1: what happened and was there anything that could have been
- 27:49Speaker 1: done to either prevent the tragedy or mitigate the effects
- 27:53Speaker 1: of it. Sometimes there wasn't, sometimes there is, and even
- 27:57Speaker 1: sometimes that there is, it would only be like it
- 28:00Speaker 1: ay a tiny amount, h.
- 28:02Speaker 6: Well, and you know, just because it really hasn't come
- 28:06Speaker 6: out yet, you know. Honorable Mention on the twats was
- 28:08Speaker 6: potentially the Austin fire chief who did not, although they
- 28:13Speaker 6: wanted to go, would not send their swift water rescue
- 28:16Speaker 6: team to help. And because he said a budget although
- 28:22Speaker 6: the state reimburses them for emergency stuff like that, and
- 28:25Speaker 6: the Austin firefighters, and so Shane has come out and said,
- 28:27Speaker 6: shame on you because we could have saved lives.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm gonna.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Hold off on that one.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Yeah, if this had happened during the day, they probably
- 28:36Speaker 6: would have had a better chance. But the fact that
- 28:38Speaker 6: happened in the morning at night, Yeah, it's just again
- 28:42Speaker 6: it's and I don't even have children, and I just
- 28:47Speaker 6: I can't imagine the grief of you know, some of
- 28:51Speaker 6: these families.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gotta be and you know, in the morning,
- 28:57Speaker 4: at five o'clock in the morning, even if you get
- 29:00Speaker 4: an alert, like your first thing is like it's water,
- 29:03Speaker 4: you know, I'll just grab some stuff, and you don't
- 29:05Speaker 4: have that time because it's still I mean, people underestimate
- 29:09Speaker 4: the power of water on how much devastation it can
- 29:13Speaker 4: actually do. Like, so there's a hard I mean that's
- 29:17Speaker 4: to assume that somebody was at fault and this was
- 29:20Speaker 4: you know, and you know, I just yeah, I'm with
- 29:23Speaker 4: try it. Just let people grieve right now and help
- 29:26Speaker 4: rebuild and do as much as we can as a
- 29:27Speaker 4: community to help those.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And there will be time.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Again, Dan is absolutely correct, everything will get looked at.
- 29:34Speaker 6: But you know, it's like, can't miss it had been
- 29:36Speaker 6: there for eighty years, Like they this was not the
- 29:39Speaker 6: first flood they have seen, and the cabins were positioned
- 29:42Speaker 6: as such. But I mean, I don't know if you
- 29:44Speaker 6: have seen some of the pictures of the wide angle
- 29:47Speaker 6: shots from like helicopters or drones of the devastation, but
- 29:51Speaker 6: it is breathtaking. I mean, it looks the one of
- 29:56Speaker 6: the shots I saw. The only thing I can compare
- 29:58Speaker 6: it to was the devastation of Mount Saint Helens, the
- 30:02Speaker 6: way the trees were just flattened.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so respect the water and as much as it
- 30:13Speaker 1: might pain, you take your phone off of silent in
- 30:18Speaker 1: the middle of the night.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so like when you when.
- 30:23Speaker 1: You silence notifications on your phone, will you still get
- 30:27Speaker 1: like emergency notifications?
- 30:30Speaker 3: I think you should.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I think it'll bypass that, Okay, just want to make sure.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you just won't get like interrupted by you know,
- 30:38Speaker 4: some random text or whatever. I think, but I think
- 30:41Speaker 4: it'll bypass like a natural emergency, especially maybe even an evacuation.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I think so.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And it's also important to note that wherever you are,
- 30:51Speaker 1: wherever you go, always have some type of an escape
- 30:54Speaker 1: plan for for just about any type of thing, whether
- 30:56Speaker 1: it's natural disaster or whatever, if you're going to send
- 30:59Speaker 1: your kids off the camp. And I believe actually I
- 31:02Speaker 1: just saw a headline just a little while ago that said, uh,
- 31:05Speaker 1: the inspector had just approved Camp Mystics emergency preparedness plan
- 31:10Speaker 1: like two days prior. But again, it's one of those
- 31:12Speaker 1: things that it's a tragedy. And this is why we
- 31:14Speaker 1: assigned the word tragedy. Is some some things cannot be avoided.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yes, well, some things we just don't.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I mean, you just you go, okay, we've seen flooding.
- 31:24Speaker 6: We have you know, uh, it's not like it's first
- 31:28Speaker 6: time it had flooded, so there was a knowledge base,
- 31:31Speaker 6: and statistically they go, okay, yeah, you're good. No one
- 31:36Speaker 6: counted on this much. Uh yeah that much water?
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah. The downside is is in previous great floods, you
- 31:45Speaker 1: at least have one guy who's who's considered to be
- 31:47Speaker 1: a whack job building a big boat. This didn't have that.
- 31:52Speaker 1: If we had had that, then we had been like, okay,
- 31:54Speaker 1: let's all, you know, go home or help this guy.
- 31:59Speaker 7: Uh.
- 31:59Speaker 4: And also, you know, if you want for the people listening,
- 32:01Speaker 4: if you want to donate We have it up on
- 32:03Speaker 4: our Instagram page the places you can donate, so make
- 32:07Speaker 4: sure you visit that and donate to people help people.
- 32:09Speaker 4: I think try mentioned hibs are the trucks that were
- 32:11Speaker 4: rolled out from hib giving out the first aid kits
- 32:16Speaker 4: and all that stuff.
- 32:16Speaker 3: That's amazing. And then there's another one.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I can't remember the name of it, but they, I mean,
- 32:21Speaker 4: the minute that happened, they rolled out semis to start
- 32:23Speaker 4: helping people out.
- 32:24Speaker 1: So I know they say beggars can't be choosers, but
- 32:27Speaker 1: if my home just got washed away after a flood
- 32:31Speaker 1: and an HB truck rolled up, I'm going to maintain
- 32:35Speaker 1: some sense of humor and I'm going to request butter tortillas.
- 32:41Speaker 1: And I'm not kidding. They better that's wrong button. They
- 32:45Speaker 1: better say yes.
- 32:53Speaker 10: You're listening to the Treehouse.

- 33:19Speaker 1: So share the show with a friend from your favorite

- 33:25Speaker 1: the square with the arrow coming out of it, and
- 33:28Speaker 1: send the show to a friend Today the tree House
- 33:31Speaker 1: is open. Let's e f and grow. This is the
- 33:35Speaker 1: Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Mally. That's Trey Trendholm. He is
- 33:38Speaker 1: Raj Sharma. Today's Thursday, July tenth, twenty twenty five. Let's
- 33:44Speaker 1: celebrate today with some birthdays. There is a glaring omission
- 33:51Speaker 1: today by the prep service where we get our daily birthdays.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Isabella Mercett turns twenty four today, Sabellahmer said, is twenty four.
- 34:02Speaker 1: The reason why I say the prep service screwed up
- 34:04Speaker 1: is because they have her listed as the star of
- 34:07Speaker 1: the live action Door the Explorer movie, also as Marky
- 34:10Speaker 1: Mark's sidekick and Transformers The Last Night and the Mexican
- 34:14Speaker 1: girl Beniicio del Toro protects in Sacario Day of This Soldado.
- 34:19Speaker 1: All of those things are accurate. However, they've ignored the
- 34:23Speaker 1: two biggest things on her filmography list, and they're all
- 34:27Speaker 1: happening right effing now, Isabellamer said, was and is the
- 34:33Speaker 1: girlfriend slash friend in the Last of Us, the one
- 34:36Speaker 1: who's pregnant on the show. And she is Hawk Girl
- 34:43Speaker 1: in the new Superman movie that comes out pretty much now,
- 34:48Speaker 1: so far be it from me to nitpick someone else's responsibilities.
- 34:54Speaker 1: But come on, do better prep service.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Hawk girl.
- 35:01Speaker 3: That's what I was about to say.
- 35:03Speaker 1: It's DC original.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I hope hot to a suser for copyright infringement.
- 35:10Speaker 1: DC had it first.
- 35:12Speaker 3: That's the sequel to the movie.
- 35:15Speaker 1: When it bombs, well, that's another word for it goes
- 35:24Speaker 1: down drastically. Other birthdays today, Jessica Simpson is forty five,
- 35:30Speaker 1: one time gospel singer who went secular and went secular
- 35:34Speaker 1: in all the good ways by going straight to the
- 35:37Speaker 1: top of the pop charts and then turn that into
- 35:40Speaker 1: becoming a shoe czar. Jessica Simpson's shoes are what has
- 35:47Speaker 1: made her the most money in her career. It's outstanding
- 35:49Speaker 1: good for her.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I thought I thought she had a line of makeup
- 35:51Speaker 2: too that made her in purses.
- 35:53Speaker 4: And she has like a clothing line, and I'm sure
- 35:55Speaker 4: her father loves all of it.
- 35:57Speaker 3: To make up the shoes.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I forgot about the Yeah, no, wonder he steered her
- 36:05Speaker 1: in all those directions.
- 36:06Speaker 3: And no, you don't hear a lot about Joe since
- 36:08Speaker 3: it anymore? Sure he's living his best life.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Still Joe or is it Joseph?
- 36:15Speaker 4: He looks way more like Ellen Degenerous than Ellen DeGeneres
- 36:19Speaker 4: does wow.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah, well, good on Joe other birthdays today, and there.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Was poor Ashley.
- 36:31Speaker 6: Jesus speaking of hot Tua.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Thomas Ian Nichols is forty five today, probably best known
- 36:41Speaker 1: as Henry Rowan Gardner in the movie Rookie of the Year.
- 36:45Speaker 1: If you don't remember it, that was the movie where
- 36:47Speaker 1: the thirteen year old kid broke his arm and was
- 36:50Speaker 1: able to when the cast came off, he was able
- 36:54Speaker 1: to throw like one hundred something miles per hour and
- 36:56Speaker 1: he was immediately picked up by the desperate Cubs. Two
- 37:01Speaker 1: fantastic cameos in that film, by the way, One was
- 37:06Speaker 1: by Daniel Stern, who was the clubhouse manager for the
- 37:08Speaker 1: Chicago Cubs on that movie. He's the one that got
- 37:11Speaker 1: in the big game. He's the one that gets locked
- 37:13Speaker 1: in the equipment locker. He was also the one always
- 37:16Speaker 1: had the jaw in and kept spitting on himself and
- 37:21Speaker 1: little Henry Rowan Gardner. Do you remember the old pitcher
- 37:25Speaker 1: who took him under his wing in that movie? Do
- 37:27Speaker 1: you remember who that was? I never saw it, so
- 37:31Speaker 1: i'll give you an audible. I'll give you an audible hint. Ucy, Yes,
- 37:38Speaker 1: it is well done. Gary Busey played the over the
- 37:43Speaker 1: Hill picture that took Henry Rowan Gardner under his wing
- 37:46Speaker 1: in the movie Rookie of the Year.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Are we sure Gary Busey was in that movie or
- 37:50Speaker 4: was he just trying to steal a kid.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I may need to go back and watch it, because
- 37:58Speaker 1: he does work his way into Henry's live like he
- 38:01Speaker 1: pretty much becomes daddy by the end of the movie,
- 38:03Speaker 1: so you may be onto something. Raj. We also should
- 38:09Speaker 1: checked to see if Thomas and Nichols, who played Henry
- 38:13Speaker 1: Rowan Gardner, has been seen very much since, because the
- 38:17Speaker 1: last thing I saw him in was American Pie.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Okay, and they just renamed him Jake.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Maybe that's the movie he had to do to distract
- 38:32Speaker 1: Gary Busey from eating him. He's like, here's a nice
- 38:34Speaker 1: American Pie. A couple of more birthdays, real quick. Chuettl

- 41:11Speaker 1: Is this the most helpful Florida man in the history
- 41:16Speaker 1: of Florida. A man in Key West, Florida celebrated his
- 41:21Speaker 1: fifty seventh birthday by smoking a bunch of meth, stealing
- 41:25Speaker 1: a trolley, and driving around town picking up tourists.
- 41:32Speaker 3: To do what with.
- 41:36Speaker 1: It's unclear because I've only read so far to see
- 41:41Speaker 1: that he picked them up. I don't know if he
- 41:42Speaker 1: ever dropped them off. His name is Jonathan Winslow. He's
- 41:48Speaker 1: facing charges after he celebrated his birthday last Friday by
- 41:52Speaker 1: doing mets, stealing a trolley and driving it around town
- 41:54Speaker 1: picking up tourists. There is a famous trolley in Key
- 41:58Speaker 1: West called the Conk Tour. It looks like an old
- 42:02Speaker 1: time he train and does sixty minute tours and it's
- 42:04Speaker 1: been operating since the late fifties. Jonathan showed up at
- 42:07Speaker 1: the station at eleven thirty am last Friday. He left
- 42:12Speaker 1: his Kia out back with the engine running and rock
- 42:14Speaker 1: music blasting on the radio. Hell yeah. He told an
- 42:17Speaker 1: employee he used to work there and asked if he
- 42:19Speaker 1: could take a look at one of the trains. Not
- 42:21Speaker 1: clear if he actually ever worked there or not. He
- 42:23Speaker 1: then hopped in one of the trolleys and took off,
- 42:25Speaker 1: leaving the employee confused. They thought maybe he had permission
- 42:29Speaker 1: to take it, but he did not. Police eventually found
- 42:32Speaker 1: him on the other side of town at the famous
- 42:34Speaker 1: at the famous southernmost Point Bowie. He'd driven at least
- 42:38Speaker 1: a mile and picked up several passengers. When they told
- 42:41Speaker 1: him he was being arrested, he said it was his
- 42:42Speaker 1: birthday and claimed he just borrowed the trolley. They say
- 42:45Speaker 1: he was speaking quickly like he was on something. They
- 42:48Speaker 1: searched him at intake and found a pipe in his pocket.
- 42:51Speaker 1: He claimed it was for weed, but it wasn't meth pipe.
- 42:53Speaker 1: He's now facing charges for burglary, grand theft, auto, and
- 42:57Speaker 1: possession of drug paraphernalia. I contend that he picked up
- 43:02Speaker 1: several character witnesses during his tour.
- 43:06Speaker 2: He just wanted to rock out with his conk out, not.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Just a clap, but a slow clap like eighties movie style.
- 43:31Speaker 4: That's when Trey puts on his letter jacket, slams the
- 43:34Speaker 4: locker door, and just walks down the hall.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Credits rolled.
