- 0:18Speaker 1: special guests. Three times undefeated world kickboxing champion Fridia Gibbs
- 0:24Speaker 1: aka the Cheetah is in the building. How are you
- 0:27Speaker 1: so fantastic?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Colle Thank you for having me. How you doing I'm
- 0:30Speaker 2: doing good.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm excited to have you cooked for me.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Am.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I and I have never got I don't think I've
- 0:36Speaker 1: ever been able to interview a obviously, never interviewed an
- 0:41Speaker 1: undefeated three time world champion in any sport, but let
- 0:45Speaker 1: alone kickboxing before. But before we get into all the conversations,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I need to know what are you gonna have me
- 0:52Speaker 1: eating today?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Okay, today we are going to eat some steak in asparic.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Steak and asparagus. Okay, what are all the ingredients to
- 0:59Speaker 1: make this this extra special?
- 1:01Speaker 2: The ingredients to make this extra special? Obf, she gotta
- 1:03Speaker 2: have a one sauce, you gotta have virgin oil. There
- 1:05Speaker 2: are we gonna include butter, salt, pepper, garlic, salt, and
- 1:08Speaker 2: some my garlic globe.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Okay, got it? And asparagus and stick. Now, if you
- 1:12Speaker 1: guys are EVI a listener to eating while broke. I
- 1:15Speaker 1: don't eat red meat, so out of the spirit of
- 1:18Speaker 1: the show, I will take a bite and I will
- 1:21Speaker 1: judge her very hard. Okay, and I don't even I
- 1:24Speaker 1: don't think. I think the last time I tried a
- 1:26Speaker 1: one or steak sauce was like probably like when I
- 1:28Speaker 1: was like twelve or something. So we're gonna really live
- 1:31Speaker 1: it up today on the show. So go ahead. See,
- 1:33Speaker 1: we don't leave you a lot of cooking room. Hun,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Are you gonna really box it out right now?
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm going to like, chap.
- 1:38Speaker 1: This is a this is like a fake. This is
- 1:40Speaker 1: a stove set.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta look out marinate that through. You gotta
- 1:47Speaker 2: throw some karate chops at the steak there flipping the
- 1:50Speaker 2: steak here on. During the time that I'm flipping the steak,
- 1:52Speaker 2: I'm thinking about all the times I had to flip
- 1:55Speaker 2: my mindset for from survival to success. That makes sense. Yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 2: had added a little bit of garlic salt on my
- 2:03Speaker 2: survival mode. That makes sense.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I've never seen someone beat up with steak like this.
- 2:07Speaker 2: But I had add a little bit of that there.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I had to go into that success mode cooking. Now
- 2:11Speaker 2: what it makes me feel like I feel like I'm
- 2:14Speaker 2: celebrating progress.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Now, okay, okay, yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 2: We're gonna add some salt and some pepper. We already
- 2:19Speaker 2: add the garlic salt there, right, yeah, add a little
- 2:22Speaker 2: pepper there.
- 2:23Speaker 1: This is I think he is one of those twisters.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think you got it right here.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Show me.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Let me try to help you out. Poor steak is
- 2:30Speaker 1: about to get murdered. She's frying up the garlic. She
- 2:34Speaker 1: done beat up the steak for real with her hands,
- 2:38Speaker 1: seasoned it with steak. It was salt pepper. Now you're
- 2:42Speaker 1: going in with the butter.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah, going in with the butter, baby girl.
- 2:45Speaker 1: All right? Now, is this that's just for the steak,
- 2:48Speaker 1: right yeah?
- 2:48Speaker 2: This is for the steak and asparagus.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 2:52Speaker 2: See what a lot of people don't know is you
- 2:53Speaker 2: got to cook the asparagus and the steaker. There got
- 2:56Speaker 2: cooking combined. That's why you cooked the steak first.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So essentially you're put in the butter, the garlic you
- 3:01Speaker 1: see in the steak, and the asparagus is all going
- 3:04Speaker 1: into one pot exactly.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because when I was broke, I only had one pot,
- 3:08Speaker 2: you know what I mean, And that's the one pot
- 3:10Speaker 2: that I used, and I learned how to cook multiple
- 3:12Speaker 2: different foods than the one pot. It makes sense.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you was always washing dishes.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I don't like washing dishes. That's why I
- 3:19Speaker 2: always had one pot, one big plate.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying. After every meal you had.
- 3:23Speaker 2: To wash it.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I always had a dish washing okay, okay, so you
- 3:26Speaker 1: wash your three three, your three four.
- 3:29Speaker 2: No, I would wait until they pile up.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Okay, So I'll just keep buying dishes. Oh god, you're hilarious. Okay,
- 3:38Speaker 1: So take me back to what was going on during
- 3:41Speaker 1: the steak and asparagus error. Take you back to one
- 3:45Speaker 1: What was going on during this time.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Back when I was broke. I had to dress up
- 3:50Speaker 2: oodles and noodles, That makes sense. Yeah, And I would
- 3:53Speaker 2: call a t bone steak and asparagus because that's something
- 3:55Speaker 2: that was like my vision. Yeah, during that time when
- 3:57Speaker 2: I was broke, and what I had to do as
- 4:00Speaker 2: just done here. I had to season it with some
- 4:02Speaker 2: hot salt, you know what I mean, seizing my food
- 4:05Speaker 2: with faith because I was only eating noodles and noodles,
- 4:07Speaker 2: how it was broke.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But were you eating oodles and noodles or were you
- 4:10Speaker 1: eating steak and asparagus.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Back in the day when I was broke, I was
- 4:13Speaker 2: eating oodles and noodles, but my vision was to have
- 4:16Speaker 2: steak and asparagus. I couldn't ford steak at the time.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Okay, so what did you you ate noodle ramen noodles?
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah? I would mix it up with the vegetables and
- 4:25Speaker 2: chick a little bit of chicken here and the steak
- 4:27Speaker 2: here and there, and just mix it up and make it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Look when you go into these ramen stores today, what
- 4:32Speaker 2: do you see they mix it up with everything. Yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 2: they got that from me.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You're hilarious, you know they got that. Wait, why are
- 4:38Speaker 1: you making steak in this?
- 4:39Speaker 2: This is what I'm cooking today because this is what
- 4:42Speaker 2: I strive for. This is what's my vision.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Oh you know, so you switched up our whole show today. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you're supposed to be cooking me a broken dish.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I was wondering the whole time.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I was like, oh damn, she has me.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Take me back to the oodles and noodles day. Yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 1: take me back to what was going on during that era.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Oh what jeez, man.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Take me back time and everything it's okay for putting
- 5:06Speaker 1: steam in.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Go ahead, okay. Well, during the oodles and noodles era,
- 5:11Speaker 2: that was doing my fighting, Ara, I didn't really have
- 5:13Speaker 2: a job. I had to fight for food, meaning that
- 5:17Speaker 2: during the time I was competing, but I wasn't getting
- 5:20Speaker 2: paid at the time because I was just an amateur.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I was working side gigs. I had to fight. Like
- 5:25Speaker 2: I said, I had to fight for food. I had
- 5:26Speaker 2: to figure out how I was going to keep the
- 5:28Speaker 2: roof over my head during my oodls and noodles days
- 5:30Speaker 2: and back in those days keeping my oodles and noodles.
- 5:33Speaker 2: They coming back to twelve.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But before you started fighting for it, where did the
- 5:37Speaker 1: oodles and noodles start? Take me back to like, prior
- 5:40Speaker 1: to you even starting to fantasize about kick boxing, Take
- 5:43Speaker 1: me back to your childhood life.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Childhood life, Oh jeez. I'm obviously from Chester, Pennsylvania, south
- 5:48Speaker 2: side of Philadelphia, from the projects there a fairground project
- 5:52Speaker 2: during those days. We grew up very poor, but we
- 5:54Speaker 2: didn't know we were poor. That makes sense, Yeah, and
- 5:56Speaker 2: that's when moms was back on welfare during those days,
- 5:59Speaker 2: back that time. Sosehold, I've always come from a two
- 6:04Speaker 2: parent household. I've had my grandfather, my grandmother, and my
- 6:07Speaker 2: great grandfather and grandmother. So I've always come from a
- 6:10Speaker 2: two parent house. How many kids, it's three. I'm the
- 6:12Speaker 2: oldest of three.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Okay, did anyone else get into kickboxinger.
- 6:16Speaker 2: No, my brother got into fighting. My sister she'd got
- 6:18Speaker 2: into boys. But you know how that works, right, Yeah, definitely.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But yeah, okay, so you come from this two parent household,
- 6:26Speaker 1: it's me closer to where you start to get the
- 6:28Speaker 1: idea that you want to get into a very kickboxing. Yes,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I used to get Yeah, I was gonna say, I
- 6:35Speaker 1: want to say an untraditional sport. But okay, you were
- 6:39Speaker 1: getting bullied a lot.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I used to get bullied a lot. It was
- 6:41Speaker 2: pretty smart in school. In elementary school, and the girls
- 6:44Speaker 2: in the classroom, they would make me do their homework.
- 6:46Speaker 2: At first, I started out helping them. You start off
- 6:48Speaker 2: helping somebody. Then I started helping them do their homework
- 6:51Speaker 2: because I was always excelling in class. And then it
- 6:54Speaker 2: got to the point where I would do them a
- 6:56Speaker 2: favor and do their homework one time. And then it
- 6:58Speaker 2: got to the point where they were forcing me, making
- 7:00Speaker 2: me do their homework. You dig and it got to
- 7:02Speaker 2: the point where I was tired of doing their homework.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And when I decided that I was tired of doing
- 7:06Speaker 2: their homework and I felt they should do their own homework,
- 7:08Speaker 2: that's when they decided to beat me up and toss
- 7:11Speaker 2: me in the bat in the trash can in the
- 7:12Speaker 2: girl's room.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Oh no, we were you.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I believe I was bullied.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I could believe it. There's a lot of people
- 7:19Speaker 1: that are successful today that I had to hold that
- 7:22Speaker 1: were you smaller inside and stature at the time.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I was a little medium height, little muskar as. I
- 7:27Speaker 2: was athletically built because I was built like a track
- 7:29Speaker 2: runner and the medium height, and I wore glasses all
- 7:31Speaker 2: the time, just like I do today. It was like
- 7:34Speaker 2: a little nerd.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So these girls started bullying you. Did you go home
- 7:37Speaker 1: to the parents and say, hey.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Guys, nom my mom. No one knew for almost a
- 7:42Speaker 2: whole year. You dig And then, like I said, I
- 7:45Speaker 2: decided I'm not doing your homework. So they said, we're
- 7:47Speaker 2: going to kick your behind when you get off the
- 7:50Speaker 2: bus going home from school. So I was I was terrified.
- 7:54Speaker 2: So when we got on the school bus, right Coley,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I said to the bus driver, listen, can you let
- 8:00Speaker 2: me off at the stop ahead? Because they said they
- 8:04Speaker 2: gonna beat me up, And the bus driver said no.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I was like, what I said, put that whole school
- 8:10Speaker 2: gonna beat me up. She said, listen, this is what
- 8:13Speaker 2: you do. I said, well, she said that everybody, when
- 8:16Speaker 2: I let you off at your stop at the fairground,
- 8:18Speaker 2: I want you to let everybody get off the bus,
- 8:21Speaker 2: and you'd be the last one to get off. I said, okay,
- 8:25Speaker 2: and I'm thinking about that. I said, okay, so everybody
- 8:28Speaker 2: got off the bus. Just listen to this. Everybody got
- 8:31Speaker 2: off the bus, all the.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Kids even get you a headstart.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So now I go, yeah, exactly. So she said, now
- 8:36Speaker 2: I want you to walk to the back of the bus,
- 8:38Speaker 2: and I unlocked the emergency door. So I went ahead
- 8:41Speaker 2: and walked to the back of the bus. And when
- 8:44Speaker 2: I walked back in the bath. When I walked to
- 8:47Speaker 2: the back of the bus, everybody outside, all the kids outside,
- 8:51Speaker 2: walked to the back of the bus. Unlocked the door.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Boom boom. She said, now walk back to the front
- 8:57Speaker 2: of the bus. So I walked back to the front
- 8:59Speaker 2: of the bus. Everybody outside walked back to the front
- 9:02Speaker 2: of the bus. She said now when I counted three,
- 9:06Speaker 2: I want you to run bus out that door and
- 9:08Speaker 2: run as fast as you can. That's the bus driver said.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I said, okay, she said one. Now I'm stand at
- 9:16Speaker 2: the front of the bus with the bus driving. All
- 9:17Speaker 2: the kids at the front too. Outside she said two,
- 9:21Speaker 2: she said three, took off. I took off. Run who
- 9:24Speaker 2: bust off the back of the yellow fool bust or boom,
- 9:28Speaker 2: And I had hand started on whamp. I'm a hardtown.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I was running and I got to my mom's crib
- 9:33Speaker 2: and I busted U turn and I busted my mom's door,
- 9:35Speaker 2: shut the door real fast. And my mom she's playing
- 9:38Speaker 2: solitary at the time, so all the cards flew off
- 9:40Speaker 2: to the table. She's like, girl, what the hell wrong
- 9:43Speaker 2: with you busting this door like a black super woman?
- 9:46Speaker 2: What you gonna do? Lost your mind? But I shut
- 9:49Speaker 2: the door. Boom. She knew something was wrong. I had
- 9:51Speaker 2: the door shut, and I was cool because I was safe.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I went on in the house, my my own business.
- 9:55Speaker 2: My mom heard all the kids outside making all this
- 9:58Speaker 2: your noise. So she went to take a look out
- 10:00Speaker 2: the window, and she saw all the kids outside. She's
- 10:02Speaker 2: what the hell is going on with this here. Then
- 10:04Speaker 2: I had to confess because I couldn't run all my life.
- 10:08Speaker 2: So she went outside. She said, what the hell is
- 10:09Speaker 2: going on out here? They were like, we gonna kick
- 10:12Speaker 2: Fredy's butt, and my mother was like why and cousin,
- 10:15Speaker 2: she didn't do our homework. And then my mom was like, Sissy,
- 10:19Speaker 2: get y'all.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You can do it.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Okay. My mother said, Sissy, get your motherfucking ass out
- 10:26Speaker 2: here right now. She hand me the broom. Yeah, call me,
- 10:31Speaker 2: she said to the she said, now, which one of
- 10:34Speaker 2: y'all want to fight her? And all three of the
- 10:36Speaker 2: girls raised their hand. My mom said she ain't fighting
- 10:38Speaker 2: all three of y'all. She said, now, which one is
- 10:41Speaker 2: the baddest one? Then this girl gilded raised the girl
- 10:48Speaker 2: raised her hand. I'm gonna let that cook. A little
- 10:50Speaker 2: bit girl raised her hand and it was the biggest one.
- 10:53Speaker 2: My mom said, what's your mama's name? She said Fanny Lou.
- 10:57Speaker 2: My mom said figure. My mom said, after this is over,
- 11:00Speaker 2: you go down there and tell Fanny Lou you ever
- 11:02Speaker 2: put your hands on my daughter gain, I'm gonna come
- 11:04Speaker 2: down there and beat Fatty Lou's ass. She said, you
- 11:06Speaker 2: let Fatty Lou know that. She said. Now, since this
- 11:09Speaker 2: is who you're gonna fight, she said, Now, I'm gonna
- 11:11Speaker 2: tell you this here. I want you to beat her ass.
- 11:14Speaker 2: You hear me, And if you don't beat her ass,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you're gonna get two ass whoopings. All right, Now here's
- 11:20Speaker 2: the bru beat her ass. That's exactly what my mama said.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know what, shall we come to? Go ahead?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I promise you shout all the black mothers to speak
- 11:28Speaker 1: like this. Yeah, that's how we grew up. If you
- 11:31Speaker 1: don't whoop they asked, you don't come home, and you're
- 11:33Speaker 1: gonna get a second ass with us, so they gotta
- 11:35Speaker 1: look worse than you. Otherwise you gotta come home in trouble.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But shout outs to the parents that did that, because
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know what, shout out to your mom. Undefeated world champion.
- 11:43Speaker 1: All started with this fighter, get it.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Really, but you got two women my mind. I lost,
- 11:53Speaker 2: but I didn't hear a whooping. So after it was
- 11:55Speaker 2: all over with, the fight was over with, I came
- 11:57Speaker 2: back in glasses off, one shirt off, pull over. The
- 12:00Speaker 2: broom was half of a broom?
- 12:01Speaker 1: What was he gonna do with the broom?
- 12:02Speaker 2: Hit her with the Oh I did hit her with
- 12:04Speaker 2: the broom. She was bigger than me. So that's why
- 12:07Speaker 2: my mom gave me the broom.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Your mom asked for the bigger and
- 12:10Speaker 1: the baddest one. Exactly, thanks mom.
- 12:13Speaker 2: So we fought. Every time I run back to my mom,
- 12:16Speaker 2: she talks me back out there. She said, can we
- 12:18Speaker 2: go in that. I run back to buck, he talks
- 12:20Speaker 2: me back out there. I had no other choice. I
- 12:22Speaker 2: had to fight.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So we fought between the mom and the bus driver.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I don't know, I know.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The women back then.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It was amazing. But just to backtrack to the bus driver,
- 12:30Speaker 1: she could have let you off. None of this would
- 12:33Speaker 1: have happened. If she would have just let.
- 12:34Speaker 2: You off, I could have caught my grandparents run back
- 12:37Speaker 2: in exactly.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I would have hated that bus driver. On that's you're
- 12:42Speaker 1: not burning this steak.
- 12:43Speaker 2: No, because steak has to cook all the way through,
- 12:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Mary's donner.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a well donner. Okay, you a well donner.
- 12:52Speaker 2: That's because that the garlic is very important. It's also
- 12:55Speaker 2: it's healthy for our inside, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 2: for a body. As an athlete, we eat guard clothes
- 13:01Speaker 2: all the time. Before running. Oh yeah, right, yeah right,
- 13:06Speaker 2: like gum yeah raw.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Did you see that movie Centers when they had to
- 13:09Speaker 1: eat the garlic?
- 13:10Speaker 2: I've not seen that. You got to see that movie.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I gotta check it out there, gotta.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Shout alright, go back to your story.
- 13:15Speaker 2: You don't win the fight, okay in my mind. But
- 13:18Speaker 2: I went back in the crib there and I sat
- 13:20Speaker 2: on the bed expecting to get my butt with and
- 13:22Speaker 2: my mom came back in there, and my mom said,
- 13:24Speaker 2: that's this is what's gonna happen. You should have told
- 13:27Speaker 2: me that this was happening. I didn't know. She said,
- 13:29Speaker 2: this is what you're gonna have to learn. Put your
- 13:31Speaker 2: head up, she said, put your head up and put
- 13:33Speaker 2: your shoulders back. You got to understand it. In this world,
- 13:35Speaker 2: there are wolves and you're going to have to learn
- 13:38Speaker 2: how to fight, and there's gonna be people out there.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You're going to have to learn how to fight. Now.
- 13:41Speaker 2: You got it in your sissy, but somebody's gonna have
- 13:44Speaker 2: to wake it up because you got that fight in you.
- 13:47Speaker 2: That makes sense. Yeah, But I was like fine, I said,
- 13:50Speaker 2: but I don't want to go.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I don't want to go because.
- 13:53Speaker 2: That's my family called me call me sister because I'm
- 13:56Speaker 2: the oldest one. And I was like, I don't want
- 13:58Speaker 2: to go back to that school. So my mother called
- 14:00Speaker 2: my grand I said, I want to go to Chichester.
- 14:02Speaker 2: That's the predominant white school, because I was going to
- 14:04Speaker 2: Chester to predominantly black schieh. I want to go to Chichester.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So my grandmother, my mother called my grandmother, my father's
- 14:11Speaker 2: mother and you know, my father's people that I lived
- 14:14Speaker 2: a double life, project middle class. I lived a double life,
- 14:19Speaker 2: so my father's people. My uncle, my father's brother, is
- 14:22Speaker 2: a marshal art master, so he came my grandmother told
- 14:25Speaker 2: him what was going on, and I told my grandma, look, Grandma,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I don't want to go to that school. In fact,
- 14:29Speaker 2: I just don't want to go to school at all.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I want to learn it home. And then when they
- 14:32Speaker 2: forced me to go to another school, I was I
- 14:34Speaker 2: still met another bully, you know, and transferred to another
- 14:38Speaker 2: school and met another bully. I was sitting in art
- 14:40Speaker 2: class with my knees up doing art. Girl came over
- 14:44Speaker 2: and just kicked me, writing the ass braym. I just
- 14:47Speaker 2: turned around like.
- 14:48Speaker 1: A white girl a black girl.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I was like, they're everywhere so at this time, I
- 14:53Speaker 2: didn't want to go to school all. Then I was
- 14:55Speaker 2: told my grandma said, look, I was at my grandmother's
- 14:57Speaker 2: house on the weekend and and I said, look, Grandma,
- 15:00Speaker 2: I'm not going back to school, and they were gonna
- 15:02Speaker 2: they're gonna force me to go back to scoul I said, listen,
- 15:04Speaker 2: if you're going to force me to go back to school,
- 15:06Speaker 2: then I'm gonna take myself out. Why should I allow
- 15:09Speaker 2: them to kill me? Yeah? You know what I mean?
- 15:12Speaker 1: How old are you?
- 15:13Speaker 2: I was like twelve eighteen? I said, why should I
- 15:16Speaker 2: continue to allow them to hurt me?
- 15:18Speaker 1: But now backtack, you said that you had an uncle,
- 15:21Speaker 1: or get.
- 15:22Speaker 2: To my uncle. So when I told my grandmother that part,
- 15:24Speaker 2: then my grandmother went ahead and got my father's brother,
- 15:27Speaker 2: my uncle Bill, who is the martial art instructor. So
- 15:29Speaker 2: he said, I saw I heard. He said, So I
- 15:31Speaker 2: heard you having issues in school. I'll never forget him
- 15:33Speaker 2: putting his hand on my shoulder. I'm just I'll never
- 15:35Speaker 2: forget that as long as I live. He said, So
- 15:37Speaker 2: I heard you having an issue in school. You're being bullied?
- 15:41Speaker 2: Said yeah, he said, so I heard you don't want
- 15:43Speaker 2: to go to school. Anymore. I said yeah. He said, listen,
- 15:47Speaker 2: free diya. You cannot run all of your life. Adversity
- 15:53Speaker 2: is going to follow you wherever you go. You got
- 15:56Speaker 2: to learn how to stand firm. This is what I
- 15:59Speaker 2: want to do. I said, what now? He got a
- 16:01Speaker 2: hang had on my shoulder. He said, I want to
- 16:04Speaker 2: teach you karate. I said, no, man, no, I don't
- 16:06Speaker 2: want to fight. Man, I don't want to fight. He said,
- 16:09Speaker 2: This is not about fighting. This is about us rebuilding
- 16:14Speaker 2: your self confidence. This is about us rebuilding your self esteem. Now, maiie,
- 16:19Speaker 2: I'm like twelve thirteen, man, I'm like, what self confidence?
- 16:24Speaker 2: He says. Self confidence is about having no doubt and
- 16:28Speaker 2: your God given ability. That's what self confidence is. I said, oh, okay,
- 16:35Speaker 2: having no doubt in my talent? Okay, what self esteem?
- 16:38Speaker 2: What's that? Because I didn't know, So he pulls out
- 16:41Speaker 2: the dictionary. He says, and self esteem is about whatever
- 16:47Speaker 2: I forget. He says, yeah, okay, great. I said, okay,
- 16:51Speaker 2: So it's not about fighting, he said, exactly, We're gonna
- 16:54Speaker 2: rebuild that. I said, okay, find I can do that.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I can do that. And at the time, that's when
- 16:58Speaker 2: Bruce Lee came along.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You know what to say. The karate kid wasn't out ye, Bruce.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Lee was the man at the time that's cooking allway through.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Let the cooking.
- 17:05Speaker 1: But yeah, I would be I would understand it where
- 17:08Speaker 1: your stances like, Man, I'm not trying to be a fighter.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I'm trying to be that. So I never forget going
- 17:13Speaker 2: to karate school for the first time. He gave me
- 17:15Speaker 2: my gear, he gave me my white gi and my
- 17:17Speaker 2: white belt, and it's cool. It's like a major transformation.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And I'll never forget being attending class for the first time.
- 17:23Speaker 2: And before I walked in the door, he said, anything negative,
- 17:26Speaker 2: any negative thoughts that you have in your mind, any
- 17:28Speaker 2: negative energies, I want you to keep it out this
- 17:30Speaker 2: door right now. Don't bring it in here.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Oh I didn't know that's what like karate and all that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I never knew that's what it was about. To be honest.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very spiritual. And I thought, Wow, leave it
- 17:44Speaker 2: all out there, all attitude egos, leave it out there, okay,
- 17:50Speaker 2: And I got that message. So when I walked in,
- 17:52Speaker 2: it was all black men, businessmen, judges, engineers, lawyers, and entrepreneurs.
- 17:59Speaker 2: These all black businessman and one white guy. And this
- 18:01Speaker 2: white guy was nerdy, but he would keep going.
- 18:04Speaker 1: So they weren't even you were joining a class full
- 18:06Speaker 1: of kids.
- 18:06Speaker 2: No, I was with men. I was with all men.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all men, all masters and on the wall
- 18:12Speaker 2: and masters, you're all masters and on the wall calling.
- 18:15Speaker 2: What was cool is there's this big question that says,
- 18:19Speaker 2: why are you here? Okay, that makes sense. Yeah, and
- 18:22Speaker 2: we're all lined up. Now. I'm the little white the
- 18:24Speaker 2: white girl, so I'm at the end there. But I'm
- 18:26Speaker 2: the only female amongst them. So it's like I had
- 18:29Speaker 2: to grow real fast. Yeah. I learned a lot from
- 18:31Speaker 2: these masters. I had no idea what they were pouring
- 18:33Speaker 2: into me. That's how I became champion.
- 18:36Speaker 1: But when you first walk into that room as a
- 18:38Speaker 1: young girl, are you as a part of your mindset
- 18:41Speaker 1: semi eye rolling, really serious.
- 18:45Speaker 2: No, I wasn't that type. I was that type to
- 18:47Speaker 2: have ego. I wasn't type too talk back. I wasn't
- 18:49Speaker 2: that type at all.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But you knew you were walking into this self confidence, selfness.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I had no idea. I had no idea what I
- 18:56Speaker 2: was walking into. But I knew what I was walking into.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Seeing the judge that I knew who was very respectable
- 19:02Speaker 2: in my community. The lawyers that I knew who were
- 19:05Speaker 2: very respectable, the businessmen who were very respectful, upholding individuals
- 19:10Speaker 2: in our community. I knew that I was.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You knew who these people were.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they were very well respected. So I thought, wow,
- 19:16Speaker 2: how special. This must be special for me. But wow wow,
- 19:20Speaker 2: And that's when they started teaching me how to throw
- 19:23Speaker 2: punches correctly, because back in the day, we just grabbed
- 19:25Speaker 2: your hair. Yeah. But then they started showing me how
- 19:29Speaker 2: to throw punches correctly, you know what I mean. Starts
- 19:31Speaker 2: showing me how to move. That makes sense. Then they
- 19:34Speaker 2: start showing me how to use my knees and showing
- 19:36Speaker 2: me how to use my elbows, showing me how to
- 19:38Speaker 2: go for the groin. Because they were men, and whenever
- 19:41Speaker 2: they compete against each other, whenever one man was balpidating
- 19:44Speaker 2: the other throwing martial arts, they go for the growing.
- 19:46Speaker 2: That makes sense. So that's what they taught me. So
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm a master going for the groy because that's all
- 19:51Speaker 2: I went with one up against those guys at the time.
- 19:53Speaker 2: The way you so I was little at the time,
- 19:56Speaker 2: but each kick you think Bruce Lee threw over ten
- 19:58Speaker 2: thousand kicks I threw over to one. Wow, you understand
- 20:02Speaker 2: me over twenty thousand. I had no idea. And what
- 20:04Speaker 2: was crazy is as these masters, I'm the youngest one here,
- 20:07Speaker 2: but as these masters, we're all throwing technique or kind
- 20:10Speaker 2: of techniques or whatever. I'm feeling all the energy and
- 20:13Speaker 2: power come down to me. That makes sense. I felt it.
- 20:17Speaker 2: It was like permeating me. It was transformed me. I
- 20:21Speaker 2: realized that, Wow, so this is confidence. That makes sense.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I was feeling the confidence from the top master all
- 20:28Speaker 2: the way down to the master who was adjacent to me.
- 20:30Speaker 2: That makes it. Now I'm just as little white belt,
- 20:33Speaker 2: but I don't know exactly what's going on, but I
- 20:34Speaker 2: know I feel something. And what I know feel I
- 20:37Speaker 2: know is now, Yeah, you know what I mean. I
- 20:39Speaker 2: knew it was transforming me. That makes sense. Yeah, I
- 20:42Speaker 2: knew that. When I saw those bullies again, I beat
- 20:45Speaker 2: the ass so fast that things know why killed me, Cheetah,
- 20:48Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I'm just curious, did you ever go backing with some
- 20:53Speaker 1: of these bullies?
- 20:53Speaker 2: But actually, what was crazy is I did go back, yes.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And Mexic School.
- 21:00Speaker 2: No, No, I went back to visit. No, I didn't
- 21:02Speaker 2: go back to the school and when I ran. Once
- 21:04Speaker 2: I left, it's just like in a relationship.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Officially, Yeah you left school.
- 21:08Speaker 2: No, I didn't leave school, but I left that school.
- 21:10Speaker 2: It's like a relation. Once I leave, it's a rat
- 21:13Speaker 2: you did. I ain't going back, That's the way I am.
- 21:16Speaker 2: But I did see them as I got older. Yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 2: and I'll never forget Guilded. Guilda was made with guild
- 21:21Speaker 2: and Loretta.
- 21:21Speaker 1: The bullies.
- 21:22Speaker 2: The bullies. Yeah, first of all, they were all wait,
- 21:25Speaker 2: all of them were fatten out of shape. Even to
- 21:28Speaker 2: this day, they're all like wells.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I hope they see this, by.
- 21:31Speaker 2: The way, all four of them.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Oh well bully Oh damn little plumpers. Huh, Oh my god.
- 21:39Speaker 1: They what I.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Forgot, the people over here in this here. But yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 2: they're all like wells. But I'll never forget seeing Guilder.
- 21:45Speaker 1: No, we could dissed the bullies.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Okay, get that, Yeah we can't. And Guilda and the
- 21:49Speaker 2: girl who kicked me in my butt, Lisa right out now.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I saw her about three years ago. Lisa started that,
- 21:55Speaker 2: the one who kicked me in my button. And I
- 21:57Speaker 2: was at quiet store and the school there, and my
- 21:59Speaker 2: uncle introduced to for a long time, and she was
- 22:02Speaker 2: starting some she was talking like she wanted to start something.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I was like, Lisa, cut that, undefeated, Lisa little This
- 22:10Speaker 2: is my exactly is Lisa little girl. I will beat
- 22:13Speaker 2: your ass so fucking fast. You'll know why they call
- 22:17Speaker 2: me cheetah. Now I'm not the same person you kicked
- 22:20Speaker 2: any ass that she tried. And I sat in front
- 22:24Speaker 2: of everybody and I said, you want something, you could
- 22:26Speaker 2: have something, knut. No, she didn't want them. You want
- 22:29Speaker 2: something you can have because we were already in the dojo,
- 22:32Speaker 2: So you want something, you could have something, you know
- 22:35Speaker 2: what I mean? And I supplied this is four years ago.
- 22:38Speaker 1: That's crazy, crazy, bully, bully what I'm saying, huh I
- 22:43Speaker 1: after knowing you are undefeated, that's done three times over.
- 22:48Speaker 2: It doesn't even make sense and exactly, and Gildas popped
- 22:51Speaker 2: the one time in the mouth I wanted to were
- 22:54Speaker 2: First of all, our hands are My hands are registered.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Like some kind of life.
- 22:59Speaker 2: My hands are register and when I use my weapons,
- 23:02Speaker 2: I have to use it if it's a matter of
- 23:04Speaker 2: life and death. That makes sense. Yeah, so I have
- 23:06Speaker 2: to really be threatened, and she wasn't no real threatening
- 23:09Speaker 2: I learned early how to walk away. That makes sense,
- 23:13Speaker 2: That makes sense. Yeah, yeah, what you're thinking, she's a moron.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm lucky. She's lucky. She's lucky in your hands on
- 23:19Speaker 1: registered she's lucky. And I'm sure you've acquired so much,
- 23:24Speaker 1: you've mastered like internal discipline right in this sport.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I will despite the fact that I can fight,
- 23:30Speaker 2: I'll walk away.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Are you slow to anger?
- 23:33Speaker 2: I've always been slow to anger as a very kid,
- 23:35Speaker 2: young kid. My mom's getting mad at me. I'm glad
- 23:37Speaker 2: you said that, my mom, Sissy, you're supposed to be
- 23:40Speaker 2: angry about this. No, I don't like the way anger feels,
- 23:44Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Yeah, I didn't like the
- 23:46Speaker 2: way the energy was the fire.
- 23:48Speaker 1: So like your siblings could annoy you to death and
- 23:51Speaker 1: you would be like whatever, Really, how much older are
- 23:54Speaker 1: you than them?
- 23:55Speaker 2: Two years one?
- 23:56Speaker 1: That's pretty good, sixty eight that's pretty good, two years apoon.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I feel like after this episode a lot of people
- 24:02Speaker 1: are gonna be saying sissy, huh.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yess. My parents, my mom and I used
- 24:07Speaker 2: to call me sissy. My mom called me sissy, and
- 24:08Speaker 2: my dad used to call me chips, Friedo corn chips. Crazy, Huh,
- 24:12Speaker 2: I like that?
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yes, okay, so you go through this training and now
- 24:16Speaker 1: you're walking around with confidence. You go through this, I
- 24:19Speaker 1: guess predominantly white school. Is people peeping your energy change?
- 24:23Speaker 2: No, I went to What happened. I received a scholarship.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I went on and excelled in basketball and excelled in track.
- 24:29Speaker 2: We became state champions in track, and I received a
- 24:32Speaker 2: double scholarship Division one scholarship the Temple University. Okay, yes,
- 24:37Speaker 2: when I went to Temple, I was only there a year.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I flunked out. I know. I met this guy. First
- 24:43Speaker 2: time I'm ever away from my family. I met this
- 24:45Speaker 2: guy named Jamain. He was super cool. Fell in love
- 24:48Speaker 2: with him. He was staying with me. He drank a lot.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Doing all the basketball games. This is this is some
- 24:53Speaker 2: real stuff. Doing all the basketball games at wind Lose
- 24:56Speaker 2: a draw. All the superstars, the athletes would go into
- 24:59Speaker 2: this locker. It was private room and there was cocaine. Beauties. Yeah, beauties,
- 25:07Speaker 2: black beauties is speed, oh speed speed alcohol. All the
- 25:12Speaker 2: male basketball stars and not just basketball. All the male
- 25:15Speaker 2: stars pitt Wether was basketball, football, track. We all went
- 25:17Speaker 2: into the females too. We all went to this room,
- 25:20Speaker 2: and we used to all just celebrate and have a
- 25:21Speaker 2: good time. The only thing I remember is taking a
- 25:24Speaker 2: drink and waking up but damn naked, grabbing my dad,
- 25:26Speaker 2: trying to find my clothing and get running down the hallway,
- 25:29Speaker 2: like what the heck gonna happen? And it just happened
- 25:31Speaker 2: multiple times, like we entering and guys on guys, girls
- 25:35Speaker 2: on girls, everybody on everybody. That's just the way it
- 25:37Speaker 2: was the university. That's the way it was in the university.
- 25:41Speaker 2: The athletes, that's what I saw. That's how it started off.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Now whatever happened between I don't remember because I got
- 25:47Speaker 2: blacked out, that makes sense, And to this day, I
- 25:50Speaker 2: still don't remember what the heck happened.
- 25:51Speaker 1: That's really dangerous, Yeah, I know.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and then that's how I got kicked out of school, Yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 2: because I was As a newspaper said, too much too soon,
- 26:02Speaker 2: you did free day Gibs lose her scholarship, too much
- 26:05Speaker 2: too soon. It was. I never did hot drugs when
- 26:07Speaker 2: I was in high school. I never even touched a joint.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I didn't even drink. But when I went to Temple,
- 26:13Speaker 2: I became a cocaine addict. I became a blueberry blue
- 26:18Speaker 2: black beauty addict. You did, I became an attic.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Wow, So then how do you after you first of
- 26:24Speaker 1: all going back on to your parent, your mama and
- 26:26Speaker 1: telling her that, now did she take the news?
- 26:28Speaker 2: What happened was my college coach said, look here, we
- 26:31Speaker 2: need to have a meeting. So they called me there.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I was in the office. I'll never forget it as
- 26:36Speaker 2: long as I lived. And she said that your grade
- 26:38Speaker 2: point after zero point zero. She said, when we found you,
- 26:44Speaker 2: discovered you free d you were here, you are now here.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Why do you choose to go back here when you
- 26:54Speaker 2: can go here? I'll never forget her saying this. She said, well,
- 26:58Speaker 2: we gotta let you go. You're suspended. We got to
- 27:02Speaker 2: kick you out the university. But I didn't care because
- 27:05Speaker 2: I was strung out.
- 27:06Speaker 1: That makes sense, did they and they didn't know you
- 27:09Speaker 1: were strung out?
- 27:09Speaker 2: No, they didn't because I could play basketball real well,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I was. She still kicking button, doing my job, just
- 27:15Speaker 2: doing my job. That makes sense. And I'll never and
- 27:18Speaker 2: then again maybe they did, because this is what happened.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I gotta let this cook through. This is what happened.
- 27:24Speaker 2: So I went to the bank I'll never forget to
- 27:26Speaker 2: get money to leave, and I'll never forget hearing this tailor.
- 27:29Speaker 2: And now I was in line, I'm hearing this tailler. Yeah,
- 27:31Speaker 2: oh my god, No, Fredia Gibbs didn't. I was like,
- 27:37Speaker 2: that's me. Then I heard her say to the other lady,
- 27:40Speaker 2: did you hear what Fredia Gibbs did to us? And
- 27:44Speaker 2: I thought, what did I do to them? I don't
- 27:47Speaker 2: even know these people. And then as I got closer,
- 27:50Speaker 2: they were talking she loves too much to school soon,
- 27:53Speaker 2: Fridia Gibbs loses her scholarship too much, too soon. Temple
- 27:57Speaker 2: didn't allow me to even get cash my check and
- 27:59Speaker 2: get home. And it was all on the newspapers and
- 28:02Speaker 2: everything that makes sense. Yes, I go to the bank,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I go through the train station near Philly to go
- 28:06Speaker 2: back to Chester, and newspaper all over the place. I'm like,
- 28:09Speaker 2: holy count, I'm hearing everybody talking all of a sudden,
- 28:12Speaker 2: you know, me already being strung out, and I'm hearing
- 28:13Speaker 2: all these voices. I'm thinking, hearing this woman, we're talking
- 28:15Speaker 2: about what did I do doing? There's too much too soon?
- 28:18Speaker 2: What does she do to here? And I'm thinking, what
- 28:19Speaker 2: do you mean? What did I do to you? I
- 28:22Speaker 2: didn't understand, but I knew something was going on, you
- 28:24Speaker 2: know what I mean. It's like it was war, all
- 28:26Speaker 2: these voices war. So I get off the train in
- 28:29Speaker 2: Chester the projects. First thing one of the Whinos says
- 28:32Speaker 2: to me is, Fredia, what are you doing back here?
- 28:37Speaker 2: And I was like wow, But I wasn't the same
- 28:40Speaker 2: Freda I was when I left and the projects in
- 28:42Speaker 2: Philly Chester they protected the superstars. That makes sense because
- 28:46Speaker 2: we were They were proud of us. We had a pass.
- 28:48Speaker 2: That makes sense to enter all the projects. That makes sense. Yeah,
- 28:52Speaker 2: today they killed the superstars. Did you know that?
- 28:54Speaker 1: If you go back there now.
- 28:55Speaker 2: They killed superstars, all the superstars back in my projects
- 28:58Speaker 2: that I grew up, that I grew up, they killed
- 29:00Speaker 2: them because they're jealous of them. And I'm like, wow,
- 29:05Speaker 2: they're killing them now.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Stars And you're more known at this point for basketball
- 29:10Speaker 1: and track, basketball, track and kickboxing, oh and kick Okay,
- 29:14Speaker 1: so you come.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Back So I'm back there. Yeah. So I'm back there
- 29:18Speaker 2: just letting that do his magic. Yes. And then I
- 29:21Speaker 2: go back there and I talked to my mom. I
- 29:23Speaker 2: let my mom know what's going on telegony. Yeah, I'm comfortable.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I got kicked out and she said, what happened? I said,
- 29:30Speaker 2: I got strung out? She said, what happened? I said,
- 29:33Speaker 2: I met this guy named Jamaine, and I got strung
- 29:36Speaker 2: out on cocaine, the same thing I told you I got.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I was a rookie and I was with all the superstars,
- 29:41Speaker 2: the seniors, you know what I mean. And they introduced
- 29:43Speaker 2: me to something and I tried it, and ever after
- 29:46Speaker 2: every game we went there and Jamaine he got me
- 29:49Speaker 2: hooked on a beer and liquor and things like that,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and he was staying with me. So that's what happened,
- 29:53Speaker 2: you know, Okay. And then my brother, he was a
- 29:56Speaker 2: big time drug deal at the time. My brother's name
- 29:58Speaker 2: is Brogie Lucas and and he was a big time
- 30:01Speaker 2: drug deal at the time in Philly. And I'll never
- 30:03Speaker 2: forget me wanting And that's what I'm so anyway, I go.
- 30:06Speaker 1: You said earlier that your mom had said that he
- 30:09Speaker 1: had turned you out.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Jermaine to turned me out. Okay. What happened was
- 30:13Speaker 2: what I learned, and this went on moving forward. What
- 30:16Speaker 2: I learned moving forward. After I left Temple and told
- 30:20Speaker 2: my mom, I went to my father's people, and I
- 30:23Speaker 2: let them know, and I stayed with my father's people
- 30:26Speaker 2: after I left my mom. Now many I was strong,
- 30:29Speaker 2: I said, with my at my mom's I still had
- 30:31Speaker 2: access to cocaine, you understand, but I didn't want to
- 30:33Speaker 2: deal with it from the streets because my brother was
- 30:36Speaker 2: a big time drug dealer and with the black folks.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I didn't want to do it get it from those guys.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Why Why is that?
- 30:41Speaker 2: Because I didn't trust my brother mixing it. He was
- 30:43Speaker 2: mixing crack with cocaine at you know, I didn't want
- 30:46Speaker 2: to take the chance. So I decided to stop. I
- 30:49Speaker 2: wanted to stop cocaine and everything all together. I wanted
- 30:54Speaker 2: to go back to the clean freedia that I was
- 30:56Speaker 2: before I left.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And what was driving this want or this desire?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Because because I knew that wasn't me. Okay, that makes sense.
- 31:03Speaker 2: It wasn't me.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And what was just going back to your mom's response,
- 31:06Speaker 1: what was her response to hearing this news.
- 31:08Speaker 2: She was very surprised. Okay, yeah, she was very surprised.
- 31:11Speaker 2: That's why she said, I got turned out. Ok Yeah,
- 31:14Speaker 2: she said, I told you, sissy, there are wolves out there. Yes,
- 31:19Speaker 2: she did remember that when I was younger, when I
- 31:21Speaker 2: was young, she said, I told you there are wolves
- 31:24Speaker 2: out there. Wow. Yeah, and you got caught by a
- 31:27Speaker 2: wolf because you was sheep, you understand. So I went
- 31:29Speaker 2: to my grandma's house because I knew I didn't have
- 31:31Speaker 2: access to everything. And at my grandma's house for three days,
- 31:34Speaker 2: I didn't sleep because mine I got all this stuff
- 31:37Speaker 2: in my bain. I didn't sleep, like three four and eight,
- 31:39Speaker 2: like we And all of a sudden, I'm trying to
- 31:42Speaker 2: clean myself. I'm not I'm trying to keep it hidden
- 31:44Speaker 2: from my grandparents.
- 31:45Speaker 1: And but oh they don't know, but they know you're there.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. So all of a sudden, it was like
- 31:50Speaker 2: late at one o'clock, two o'clock in the morning, I
- 31:51Speaker 2: started trembling that stuff and shaking and et cetera. And
- 31:55Speaker 2: my grandmother came out, said, Grandma, they knew I was
- 31:57Speaker 2: strong at that time. Yeah, And they called the ambulance.
- 32:00Speaker 2: When they called the ambulance took they took me to
- 32:01Speaker 2: the hospital. And I'll never forget this as long as
- 32:04Speaker 2: I lived. Clean here, I am lying on a bit.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I see my mom, I see my grant, my mother's mother,
- 32:08Speaker 2: and I see my father's mother, and I see my
- 32:11Speaker 2: family there like sticking me up with Ivy and the
- 32:14Speaker 2: other and they're looking at me like, not in disappointment,
- 32:17Speaker 2: but what happened to you? You know what I mean?
- 32:20Speaker 2: And I'll never forget looking up at them a tear drop.
- 32:22Speaker 2: That's when it was like reality hit me. So what happened.
- 32:26Speaker 2: That's why my heart is not as strong as it
- 32:27Speaker 2: is today because me at the time, being strung out
- 32:30Speaker 2: on cocaine, I didn't know. So at that time, what
- 32:32Speaker 2: happened was my family suggested I go to Philly, put
- 32:34Speaker 2: my aunt Bunnie on my father's side because she was
- 32:36Speaker 2: like a powerhouse. Oh yeah, she was like a little powerhouse.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Get me out of Philadelphia because it was nothing there
- 32:43Speaker 2: but cracking cocaine going on. That was it. That was
- 32:44Speaker 2: doing a cracking cocaine era.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 2: So I went ahead to Philly and Bunnie. Things didn't
- 32:51Speaker 2: work out well with her because she left me in
- 32:52Speaker 2: abandoned home for two weeks. Yeah, she left me with
- 32:55Speaker 2: peanut butter, jelly and water. Now she was determined to
- 32:58Speaker 2: make sure that I got clean out. It makes sense.
- 33:01Speaker 2: She's determined to help me. Now she's a powerhouse, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 33:05Speaker 1: She did that to help you, to help me out.
- 33:07Speaker 2: And I'll never forget this as long as I live.
- 33:09Speaker 2: So here, I am two weeks in in her building
- 33:12Speaker 2: with these hermit monster doors, and all I got is
- 33:14Speaker 2: peanut butter, jelly and water. Now, I didn't know that
- 33:17Speaker 2: I was gonna I thought I was gonna be there
- 33:18Speaker 2: for the weekend. I had no idea, okay, that she
- 33:23Speaker 2: was gonna have me locked in there for two weeks.
- 33:25Speaker 2: In fact, it probably would have been a month. But
- 33:28Speaker 2: I broke out because I could. I realized I couldn't
- 33:31Speaker 2: even get out. I could get she locked me in.
- 33:34Speaker 1: That ain't funny, I'm sorry, but no, but her mission
- 33:37Speaker 1: was too exactly that was.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Her mission anyway. I will never forget this as long
- 33:42Speaker 2: as I live here. I am lying down on the
- 33:44Speaker 2: couch you back in day, you know when we had
- 33:47Speaker 2: those handsets and that cassette where you put the cassette in. Yeah,
- 33:49Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I was listening to Luther
- 33:51Speaker 2: Vandros at the time, lying down, you know what I mean,
- 33:54Speaker 2: pod alright, Then I dozed off and suddenly I don't
- 34:02Speaker 2: know how long I was asleep, but I woke up
- 34:06Speaker 2: and I saw that I was very close to the ceiling,
- 34:10Speaker 2: and I'm thinking, why am I so close to the ceiling?
- 34:15Speaker 2: And I've put my fingers thrill and it's going through
- 34:17Speaker 2: the wall. So I scanned around, like what the world?
- 34:21Speaker 2: And the soft voice said, looked down. So I looked down.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I saw my body there. What the hat sets my
- 34:30Speaker 2: whole frame there? I was like, and I slammed back
- 34:34Speaker 2: into my body cramp. I jumped a wallful. WHOA Ain't
- 34:38Speaker 2: nobody gonna believe this was I hallucinating? What was going on?
- 34:43Speaker 2: At that time? It was time to escape. It was
- 34:47Speaker 2: time to escape. It really was now Manie, like I said,
- 34:51Speaker 2: she had this big hermit monster door, like this mansion door.
- 34:55Speaker 2: That mom was gigan. It was big and the shatn
- 34:57Speaker 2: feet tall. He was determined and he got these walls
- 35:00Speaker 2: on the side right here. So what I had to do.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I had to even put one foot on this wall,
- 35:04Speaker 2: one foot on this wall, climb up there. And there
- 35:06Speaker 2: was this window up top. That was the only way
- 35:08Speaker 2: I could get out. I had to bust the window.
- 35:09Speaker 1: That room was small, No, the hallway.
- 35:12Speaker 2: The house it was a big it was a motel,
- 35:14Speaker 2: but it was up top and by this window up top,
- 35:17Speaker 2: so I had to climb up and I was weak,
- 35:19Speaker 2: So I knew that I had to make be successful
- 35:22Speaker 2: this first climb because I was physically weak. Got it,
- 35:26Speaker 2: you did? So I'm climbed up. Wa. I cramb onto
- 35:29Speaker 2: the window real fast, and I and I cleared all
- 35:32Speaker 2: the glass from there, et cetera. And I looked down.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I was like, whoa shit, Oh that was a long fall.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I was like, damn, it's gonna be a long ass wall,
- 35:40Speaker 2: I said, but I gotta do it. And I couldn't
- 35:42Speaker 2: turn my body around to let my legs go first.
- 35:45Speaker 2: My body would only go head first. So I counted one, two, three,
- 35:50Speaker 2: and I was ready for the fall. And as I
- 35:52Speaker 2: went through it, I was falling. It was just as
- 35:53Speaker 2: long as fall. Then I hit the ground boom. I'll
- 35:56Speaker 2: never forget it. I don't know. I must have passed
- 35:59Speaker 2: out because three four hours had passed by, but I
- 36:03Speaker 2: was on the other side and did.
- 36:04Speaker 1: The dag You free?
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:06Speaker 1: What friend Lance?
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Once I got through, came woke up a few
- 36:11Speaker 2: hours later, I unlocked the door and.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I crawled out back on cameras.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I crawled out and I was free, just like I said,
- 36:18Speaker 2: I found a phone. I called my mom collect I
- 36:22Speaker 2: was crying. I told her what my aunt Bunny did
- 36:25Speaker 2: locked me in his place for two weeks. If I
- 36:27Speaker 2: still be locked up, keep you safe. My mom called
- 36:32Speaker 2: my brother, get me now, min My brothers one of
- 36:35Speaker 2: the biggest drug dealers in Philly. You did he come
- 36:37Speaker 2: picked me up in the Camaro convertible, et cetera. Were
- 36:40Speaker 2: rolling on back from Philly going to the Projects. He's
- 36:43Speaker 2: look and the cop All of a sudden, the cops stoppers.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I'm like, what is people?
- 36:49Speaker 2: What is God? I said, you know what, you only
- 36:51Speaker 2: stopped us because we blacked. It's a nice car, I said,
- 36:53Speaker 2: because we was up here in mind the own business.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Wasn't nobody doing nothing?
- 36:56Speaker 1: But was there anything in the car?
- 36:57Speaker 2: Okay, let me tell you the car. So I just
- 37:00Speaker 2: after the officer he said go, He let us go.
- 37:03Speaker 2: So we're going down. My brother like that. That's a
- 37:05Speaker 2: bigger stop. He stopped at the Projects. He pops the trunk.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Guess what he takes out bigs Adidas bag of crack
- 37:13Speaker 2: and the biggest Deidas bag of cocaine.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I was like, that's exactly what I thought.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Holy gosh, Jesus was on your side.
- 37:25Speaker 2: So that that was the story. So anyway, he goes,
- 37:27Speaker 2: drops it off. I'm there wait for him come back.
- 37:29Speaker 2: All of a sudden, I see him running out. He
- 37:31Speaker 2: jumps in the car, doesn't even open the door, and
- 37:33Speaker 2: he tells me put my head down, put my hand.
- 37:34Speaker 2: He says, put your head down, and puts my head down.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Way did dash for? You know what I'm saying. All
- 37:39Speaker 2: of a sudden he he gears in reverse, God runs out.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I was like, what, dude, you should have stayed in
- 37:44Speaker 1: the house, Like whoa.
- 37:46Speaker 2: He gears up, peeling, peels up, takes me back to
- 37:49Speaker 2: the project. I tell my mom would have nothing like
- 37:51Speaker 2: this fool's creak. We just got shot at. We just
- 37:54Speaker 2: got shot at. Now I don't went the waters one man,
- 37:56Speaker 2: crazy and money. Yeah you understanding. I'm like a skeleton
- 37:59Speaker 2: this year.
- 38:00Speaker 1: The backtrack. It's not funny. But you we appreciate your
- 38:04Speaker 1: aunt bunny though, right, appreciate it because you gotta think
- 38:10Speaker 1: these pivotal moments are will bring us to undefeated world champions.
- 38:14Speaker 1: So super grateful for the little evil bullies, but more
- 38:18Speaker 1: grateful for the aunt bunnies. That was like We're gonna
- 38:20Speaker 1: make sure you come out good. Obviously came out strong
- 38:24Speaker 1: because he took a leap of faith jumping off. Go ahead,
- 38:28Speaker 1: let's start this dish. Let's try it. Yeah all right,
- 38:32Speaker 1: so what are we doing?
- 38:32Speaker 2: We just garlic steak?
- 38:35Speaker 1: Garlic steak? All right, I'm gonna try the try a
- 38:39Speaker 1: couple of asparagus is and I don't really hear. Let
- 38:43Speaker 1: me try to get one of your knives. I'm gonna
- 38:44Speaker 1: take this steak is so good, I may have to
- 38:46Speaker 1: risk my entire internal.
- 38:51Speaker 2: So that's how that story ended.
- 38:53Speaker 1: But that's how. And by the way, your brother he
- 38:58Speaker 1: knew that. Okay, my brother was your brother knew that
- 39:02Speaker 1: you battled this addiction?
- 39:04Speaker 2: Did he he didn't know?
- 39:06Speaker 1: Everyone kept it from him. Did your mom know that
- 39:08Speaker 1: he was doing?
- 39:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, everybody doing. He was. Everybody knew who he was.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Let's try this as well done. So you're not even
- 39:15Speaker 1: using a one sauce.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Oh it's so good, it's good.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Yeah, shout, I'll try it. So after all of this,
- 39:26Speaker 1: how do you end up getting back on track too?
- 39:29Speaker 2: That's what I'm telling So I go back to my
- 39:32Speaker 2: my father's people mine. There was a coach, very good
- 39:37Speaker 2: college coach. Good, thank you. This college coach, in fact,
- 39:41Speaker 2: coach has heard that I lost my scholarship because the
- 39:44Speaker 2: newspapers during the time that I was in New York,
- 39:46Speaker 2: they were reaching out to my grandmother. They wouldn't reach
- 39:48Speaker 2: out to my mom because they wouldn't make it into
- 39:51Speaker 2: the projects. They wouldn't make it out the projects. You
- 39:55Speaker 2: had to send somebody black into projects. Okay, you hear me,
- 39:59Speaker 2: Just keeping the one hundred, I'll be big. He reached
- 40:01Speaker 2: out to my grandparents.
- 40:02Speaker 1: There's a great stake, by the way, and I'm never forget.
- 40:06Speaker 2: During the time that I was at my grandmother's house,
- 40:08Speaker 2: I was getting myself together, and I'll never forget she's
- 40:10Speaker 2: this real nonsense a lot about it. Oh, by the way,
- 40:15Speaker 2: now that you're together, so they knew what they were doing.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Send her, asked back, and Bunny, she'll take care of her,
- 40:20Speaker 2: she'll clean her out. Now that you're back together, I
- 40:24Speaker 2: wanted to let you know that this basketball college coach
- 40:27Speaker 2: has stopped by here, has been calling here checking up
- 40:29Speaker 2: on you. That's how I was too. I was like, what,
- 40:33Speaker 2: because Maya, I was never gonna play basketball again.
- 40:36Speaker 1: He did, and I said, I loved that there was
- 40:39Speaker 1: so much loving faith in you, like from everybody. But
- 40:44Speaker 1: gone continue.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Sorry, I said, what's his name? She said, Mike Tanagli.
- 40:52Speaker 2: In fact, here's his number. He's been calling here checking
- 40:54Speaker 2: up on you, so I reach out to him. He
- 40:59Speaker 2: takes me to care any college. It's all white school,
- 41:02Speaker 2: probably like three blacks. It's on the main line, so
- 41:05Speaker 2: it's adjacent de Villanova, so it's an upscale school. Me
- 41:08Speaker 2: coming from the project, I never seen BMW's and Mercedes
- 41:12Speaker 2: and Lamborghinis and all that stuff. I never saw that
- 41:15Speaker 2: in real life on your TV. When I went to
- 41:18Speaker 2: that college. That's what I was seeing on the regular,
- 41:21Speaker 2: on the regular, every joy and wasn't nothing but money. Wow.
- 41:26Speaker 2: And he said, look, we know that you're a Division
- 41:30Speaker 2: one athlete, ain't no doubt about. We also know that
- 41:34Speaker 2: there's no way that we would ever get someone of
- 41:36Speaker 2: your talent and your calenber here at this university. But
- 41:39Speaker 2: we also know that you've had problems, you lost or
- 41:43Speaker 2: the Division one scholarship. Now this is the deal, free
- 41:46Speaker 2: to you. Here, I am amongst all these white men
- 41:47Speaker 2: businessmen university. You give us your talents and we'll make
- 41:53Speaker 2: sure that you get a good education.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Okay, that was fair, right, Yeah, yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 2: We want you to build and turned on women's basketball
- 42:01Speaker 2: program around and our athlete programming around. Okay, I said deal,
- 42:07Speaker 2: and that's what I did, turning around, turned the whole
- 42:11Speaker 2: program around. They went from being Division one nai A
- 42:15Speaker 2: to the NCAA because of me, because I was already
- 42:17Speaker 2: in the NCAA Division one, so they already had my
- 42:20Speaker 2: names in NCAAA. They already had my name in the system,
- 42:23Speaker 2: scores and things like that. Then when I went to
- 42:25Speaker 2: the Division three school, they have me my freedom Gives
- 42:28Speaker 2: name still there, but I'm in n AA ai A,
- 42:31Speaker 2: but I'm originally from NCAA. So what they did with
- 42:35Speaker 2: the university that I went to, they went ahead and
- 42:36Speaker 2: switched them to NCAA because of me, because my name
- 42:40Speaker 2: kept popping up at NCAA. All the people at the top,
- 42:43Speaker 2: they already knew who I was. That mentioned.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Yeah, So turned the whole program around, went and joined
- 42:51Speaker 3: went to the Olympics to try off because the European
- 42:53Speaker 3: What happened is the European basketball coach they come over here.
- 42:56Speaker 2: To recruit Americans to go play basketball. And we went
- 42:59Speaker 2: to Colorada Springs to train for the European Basketball. Now
- 43:02Speaker 2: this is some crazy shit. I didn't know this even exists.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Check this here out. So we would Colorado Springs for
- 43:07Speaker 2: the Liperd trains and training for the basketball to join
- 43:09Speaker 2: the European Women's Basketball League, and we had to wear
- 43:14Speaker 2: panty holes. I told the coach. I was like, nah, Bri,
- 43:17Speaker 2: I ain't wearing no pantyhose. I said, One, I ain't
- 43:20Speaker 2: wearing no pantyhose because they itch. But two, I'm not
- 43:23Speaker 2: wearing no pantyhose because I never wore panty hose when
- 43:26Speaker 2: I was playing basketball.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But also it is in that harder to play basketball
- 43:29Speaker 1: and pantyholes.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I was not going to do it. So this is
- 43:34Speaker 2: what happened. So all the girls had on their panty
- 43:38Speaker 2: hose playing basketball, and I had on my shorts. Starting
- 43:40Speaker 2: from here, I was at the end of the girls
- 43:42Speaker 2: checking prove Proofal you're on this team. You on this team.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Then the coach says to me, all the European coach,
- 43:46Speaker 2: what are you gonna do for you? I said? I said, sir,
- 43:48Speaker 2: I didn't come here to make you dick hard. I
- 43:50Speaker 2: came here to play basketball.
- 43:53Speaker 1: They want shorts over the pantyhose.
- 43:55Speaker 2: No it was just pantyholes.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely, this is what I.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Said, sir. I didn't come here to make your your
- 44:03Speaker 2: dick card. I came here to play basketball.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:06Speaker 2: I nodded their heads right and on their feet. I
- 44:11Speaker 2: was going for a layup and one girl on this side,
- 44:13Speaker 2: one girl on this side hit me both side, bam bam.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I caught the girl on the left. But to this day,
- 44:20Speaker 2: that girl on the right, if ever I see her,
- 44:23Speaker 2: I'm gonna get her.
- 44:23Speaker 1: No, you got registered hands.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Oh no, she got me this one. She oh she
- 44:28Speaker 2: is old. This one she got me on the right.
- 44:30Speaker 2: And anyway, yeah, it got me real good.
- 44:32Speaker 1: They jumped whaying yeah while I was playing.
- 44:34Speaker 2: And then they went ahead and put me on the
- 44:36Speaker 2: European team. They put me on the European team on
- 44:38Speaker 2: this the losing this team. That record was zero and thirty,
- 44:42Speaker 2: the worst team ever in Germany. They were zero wins
- 44:46Speaker 2: and thirty losses. But when I left, guess what they
- 44:50Speaker 2: were champions.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Wow, they were chams.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I took it to a whole nother level. I opened
- 44:55Speaker 2: them up.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Now.
- 44:56Speaker 1: It was coming from where you came from, going to
- 44:59Speaker 1: being able to travel our season. Can we just walk
- 45:02Speaker 1: through that little that experience. Just for a brief second,
- 45:05Speaker 1: I know we're going to go.
- 45:07Speaker 2: It was tough. It was tough because during the time
- 45:10Speaker 2: I came from a nice penhouse. But I mean I
- 45:12Speaker 2: had a bad car and I had an excellent career.
- 45:14Speaker 2: You feel being a superstar at Cabrini. Oh, they came
- 45:17Speaker 2: and got me and recruited me for I had. It
- 45:19Speaker 2: was excellent. Had I gone over there first and checked
- 45:23Speaker 2: it out, I would not have stayed. But because I
- 45:26Speaker 2: gave everything away, my home and I was on the
- 45:29Speaker 2: twelfth floor, bad car and excellent career, and then I
- 45:33Speaker 2: went over there without visiting, I stayed. It was I
- 45:37Speaker 2: got paid two thousand a week. Wow, that was good money.
- 45:41Speaker 2: But the homes were European. It was something that I
- 45:46Speaker 2: wasn't accustomed to. They were different. If ipartments were very different,
- 45:50Speaker 2: and I didn't like them. They were just old agent.
- 45:53Speaker 2: During the time I was there, training was great. I
- 45:56Speaker 2: was there when the Berlin Wall came down. Now, mind you,
- 46:00Speaker 2: I don't know much about the Berlin Wall, but what
- 46:03Speaker 2: I do know is that all the athletes are running
- 46:07Speaker 2: to the Berlin Wall. And I even see old women
- 46:10Speaker 2: people with canes, man female walking with Kynes and I
- 46:14Speaker 2: can feel this energy and the energy is insurmountable. It's
- 46:17Speaker 2: absolutely powerful. And I'm just saying to myself, I don't
- 46:21Speaker 2: understand what they're saying, but what I do understand is
- 46:25Speaker 2: that this energy is legacy. This must be history. It
- 46:29Speaker 2: has to be because I'm looking at everything with my
- 46:31Speaker 2: eyes and they were like, yeah, get a piece of
- 46:34Speaker 2: the wall, Get a piece of the wall. In my mind,
- 46:36Speaker 2: I'm like, I ain't carrying no rocks around with me.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Now I had wish I had, Yeah, because I didn't
- 46:42Speaker 2: know then what I know now. You did. So that
- 46:46Speaker 2: was a real cool experience. I spent a lot of
- 46:48Speaker 2: time in Amsterdam because I had to keep the balance.
- 46:51Speaker 2: You did travel aize, So I was there for two
- 46:53Speaker 2: years now Maya. I had to figure out what I
- 46:55Speaker 2: was gonna do because I didn't want to stay there
- 46:56Speaker 2: another year. Yeah, figure out whatever, So what am I
- 46:58Speaker 2: gonna do from here? I saw Sin say, Benny the
- 47:01Speaker 2: jet your ti dez from Van Nis on television. He
- 47:05Speaker 2: was fighting that said that's what I want to do.
- 47:07Speaker 2: So I wrote his address down and everything Darren counting
- 47:10Speaker 2: Van night. And when I left jer I didn't resign
- 47:12Speaker 2: my contract in basketball contractors. I went ahead and wrote
- 47:15Speaker 2: his information down. I caught the plane and when straight
- 47:18Speaker 2: came straight to California, knocked on Sin and say Bennie
- 47:20Speaker 2: the jet door and started working with him. And like
- 47:22Speaker 2: I told him, I said, look, I want to learn karate.
- 47:24Speaker 2: He knew I was something, you know. I said, I
- 47:26Speaker 2: want to learn kickboxing. I said, I don't know karate.
- 47:29Speaker 2: I said, I don't know kickboxing, but I know karate.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I said, and I'm real coachable, So you teach me.
- 47:34Speaker 2: I'll get it. So he went ahead and took me
- 47:35Speaker 2: on his wing, introduced me to his brother. When his sister, Lily,
- 47:39Speaker 2: your teez got with those guys, and I started competing
- 47:41Speaker 2: left and right. That's when I started eating oodles and noodles.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Oh that's when you started eating oodles, and when I
- 47:47Speaker 1: came okay, yeah, okay, so you and how different was
- 47:52Speaker 1: the training between kickboxing and karate.
- 47:54Speaker 2: It was very different because with kickboxing, you're kicking, you're
- 47:57Speaker 2: using your shins, you know what I mean. Your ship
- 48:00Speaker 2: is like a baseball bat, as opposed to with karate.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Sometimes you're kicking with the insect of your foot here,
- 48:04Speaker 2: so you're like slapping. But with kickboxing, you're using this part.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Let's say this is your leg. You're using this here,
- 48:10Speaker 2: this is your shin. And when your shin hits a rib,
- 48:13Speaker 2: you know, it can break a rib. When your shin
- 48:14Speaker 2: hits a head, it can break ahead. When your shin
- 48:17Speaker 2: hits an arm, it can break these four arms. When
- 48:19Speaker 2: your shin hits a thigh, it can break it. Because
- 48:21Speaker 2: our shin is real thick. It's like a baseball bat.
- 48:23Speaker 2: So our legs are like baseball bats, our arms are
- 48:26Speaker 2: like boots.
- 48:28Speaker 1: That makes sense, especially the way you can do the
- 48:30Speaker 1: same thing, dude, R.
- 48:35Speaker 2: That my mom used to say, Hen, we're off, and cup,
- 48:38Speaker 2: we're off for good.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Now your mom's fully into what you do now, one
- 48:42Speaker 1: hundred percent right.
- 48:43Speaker 2: My mom's big tongue, big tongue.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I love your Yeah, my mom's best.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. So anyway, I got to fight for a
- 48:48Speaker 2: world championship fight. So what happened? I need to Like
- 48:51Speaker 2: I said, I was eatings and I need to make money.
- 48:53Speaker 2: And I started working for AT and T and I
- 48:55Speaker 2: got bit into a Domino's game by this girl named Benita.
- 48:58Speaker 2: And when I went to Domino's down at Inglewood, Lonnie,
- 49:01Speaker 2: I don't know Lonnie Franklin Junior, the grim Sleeper. He
- 49:04Speaker 2: had killed over one hundred black women down in Inglewood.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, here raped and killed him Jesus. But what happened?
- 49:11Speaker 2: Unfortunately I had met him at a Dominoes game because
- 49:13Speaker 2: I didn't know how to play dominance. We were playing domins.
- 49:15Speaker 2: He offered me a right's like two three o'clock in
- 49:16Speaker 2: the morning, and that's when I realized what the heck
- 49:21Speaker 2: it was real crowd. I realized I'm around people I
- 49:24Speaker 2: don't even know. It's two three o'clock in the morning.
- 49:29Speaker 2: And then Lonnie gave me a drink and I took
- 49:31Speaker 2: a little bit of it. Then all of a sudden,
- 49:33Speaker 2: I started films tired, so I walked So I walked
- 49:36Speaker 2: into the bathroom to throw water on my face clearhself.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I'm like, look, two three o'clock, it's time for me
- 49:41Speaker 2: to go. Already lost all my pay check every day,
- 49:43Speaker 2: that was all my Money's not for me to go.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Threw water on my first And when I walked out
- 49:47Speaker 2: the door, Lonnie was there, and I was like, yo, man, chill,
- 49:49Speaker 2: I don't roll like that, because I thought he was
- 49:51Speaker 2: Benita's due. Because Benita is the one who invited me
- 49:52Speaker 2: to the game, to the Dominoes game. Anyway, So I'm like, Benita, look,
- 49:56Speaker 2: I'm ready to go. Yeah, she said, why don't you start?
- 49:58Speaker 2: I said, no, I don't know nobody. I don't want
- 50:00Speaker 2: to stay here. I want to go home and see
- 50:01Speaker 2: my own bed, she said. And then Lonnie said, well,
- 50:04Speaker 2: I take you home. And me knowing me and me
- 50:07Speaker 2: growing up around fourteen guys, because my mother has eight brothers,
- 50:10Speaker 2: and then my dad's brothers, and me growing around, growing
- 50:13Speaker 2: up around, and then me growing up martial arts, I
- 50:15Speaker 2: felt I thought that was cool. I felt I could
- 50:18Speaker 2: handle myself. It wasn't thinking that. So anyway, I go
- 50:21Speaker 2: to he opens the door, Lonnie does, and he opens
- 50:24Speaker 2: the door at the van door and I get on in. Now,
- 50:26Speaker 2: when I get in, he shut the door. I heard something,
- 50:30Speaker 2: you understand. I heard something with the lock. When I
- 50:34Speaker 2: heard something with the lock, my thoughts for father, Please
- 50:39Speaker 2: don't let me have to fuck this man up. You understand,
- 50:43Speaker 2: because I heard something with the lock. You dig So
- 50:46Speaker 2: I get on in. We driving, I say, turn right.
- 50:48Speaker 2: He turned left. I'm mind you. I'm a little dizzy,
- 50:51Speaker 2: light headed, so I'm trying to get some air because
- 50:53Speaker 2: he obviously puts something in my drink. So my head's
- 50:55Speaker 2: leaning on the window and saying, I said, turn right.
- 50:57Speaker 2: He turned left. I said, yo, bro, you're going wrong.
- 50:59Speaker 2: What Then next thing I know, we wind up in
- 51:02Speaker 2: this secluded area with nothing but fall And first thing
- 51:05Speaker 2: he says is let me stick it in and I'll
- 51:07Speaker 2: take you home. I said, yo, Bron, I said no,
- 51:11Speaker 2: you let me out this van. You will never see
- 51:13Speaker 2: me again, and Benita would never see me again. So
- 51:17Speaker 2: when he said that, I'm reaching for the knob to
- 51:20Speaker 2: try to open the door, and I'm fumbling around. There's
- 51:23Speaker 2: no knob, so I'm reaching for the other knob to
- 51:25Speaker 2: roll the window down. There's no wind. I can't roll
- 51:27Speaker 2: the window down, so I had to look. So then
- 51:30Speaker 2: when I'm looking, then when I turned back, I saw
- 51:32Speaker 2: him his face totally transformed. He had a belt on
- 51:35Speaker 2: his fist. Oh no, And he said, let me stick
- 51:38Speaker 2: it in and I'll take you home. I said, no, man,
- 51:41Speaker 2: let me out this van. Then that's when he went
- 51:43Speaker 2: to punch boom. And when he went to punch me
- 51:45Speaker 2: in my face and my temple, that's when I blocked it.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Boom I hang bam, and I ran to the back
- 51:50Speaker 2: of the van. I ran as hard as I could
- 51:51Speaker 2: to the back of the bed, and soon as I
- 51:53Speaker 2: got to the back of the bed, as a big
- 51:54Speaker 2: ass chain on it in the lock, I couldn't get out.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I said, wait, fuck inside the.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Inside the van and yeah, I ran to the back
- 52:02Speaker 2: of the van to get escaped, and I ran right
- 52:03Speaker 2: into his strap. There's a big ass chain on it. Like,
- 52:05Speaker 2: I couldn't get out. So I turned my back toward
- 52:08Speaker 2: him that he was coming to the back of the van,
- 52:10Speaker 2: and I figured my only way out is to get
- 52:12Speaker 2: out his door, because that's the way he got in.
- 52:13Speaker 2: So I went diving packed. I want to push him back.
- 52:16Speaker 2: I went for by him boom, and I went to
- 52:19Speaker 2: try to open the door and on his door, and
- 52:21Speaker 2: that's when he grabbed my legs and pulled me to
- 52:22Speaker 2: the back of the van and then bull flipped me
- 52:25Speaker 2: over and he got on top of me. I'll never
- 52:26Speaker 2: forget as long as I lift.
- 52:27Speaker 1: You're the grownd snatching right.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he said that the hotel. He said, let me
- 52:32Speaker 2: stick it in and I'll take you home. He on
- 52:33Speaker 2: top of me. I said, no, man, nah, let me out.
- 52:36Speaker 2: This damn band. You'll never see me again, and Benita
- 52:40Speaker 2: damn show, will never see me here, he said. I said.
- 52:43Speaker 2: He was getting angry and I could see he said.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I said, let me stick it in and I'll take
- 52:48Speaker 2: you home. And he was real calm about that shit,
- 52:50Speaker 2: and I said no. And then he said it again,
- 52:54Speaker 2: this time with much force on my wrist, and the
- 52:56Speaker 2: voice said just let him exactly. I said okay. I
- 53:03Speaker 2: said okay. As soon as he released my wrists, I
- 53:06Speaker 2: was up against the wall. I was back up on
- 53:09Speaker 2: my feet and up against the van. That's when I
- 53:11Speaker 2: started throwing jabs at him, pop crossing, pop, throwing leg
- 53:15Speaker 2: kicks at him, bop chopping that one leg, jop bop.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I was just chopping pop chop pumped. Then all of
- 53:20Speaker 2: a sudden, he was like, oh shit, you weren't them
- 53:23Speaker 2: fighting bitches? Yeah sucking. I was chopping that leg down
- 53:29Speaker 2: boom boom. All of a sudden, I saw fear in
- 53:31Speaker 2: his eyes because I knew that leg was going down.
- 53:33Speaker 2: It was going down out because my legs are like axes.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you got.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Bamit busting boom. Moved to the side and say, yeah, pops,
- 53:41Speaker 2: left leg boom. Moving back to the rights out jab
- 53:44Speaker 2: boom boom. I was just chopping. Then all of a sudden,
- 53:46Speaker 2: he came running at me like a football player, and
- 53:48Speaker 2: he tackled to tackle me, and I hit up against
- 53:50Speaker 2: the van and when he went to tackle me, I
- 53:52Speaker 2: grabbed it into his shirt tail. I pulled it over
- 53:55Speaker 2: to tied it swung him down. I ran down. I
- 53:58Speaker 2: grabbed his pants, I pulled it over shoes. I stepped
- 54:00Speaker 2: on the chest and that's when I grabbed his dick. Yeah, buddy,
- 54:04Speaker 2: because I'm a dick grabber. And I said, where the keys?
- 54:07Speaker 2: That motherfucker he was like, I get out? Oh some down?
- 54:10Speaker 2: You want me to get out? When I wanted to
- 54:13Speaker 2: get out, I had to let you stick it in first, Okay,
- 54:17Speaker 2: I said, where the keys at? I had, you know,
- 54:19Speaker 2: live my parking in PA. Which one I reached and
- 54:23Speaker 2: I pull out? He got a gang of keys on there,
- 54:25Speaker 2: gang up. I said, which one is it? He says
- 54:28Speaker 2: the orange. I grabbed theim food food and I pulled
- 54:30Speaker 2: him all the way over. Two threes. Get up, get
- 54:33Speaker 2: up and shout out you wanted. When I wanted to
- 54:35Speaker 2: get out, I had to let stick it and shut
- 54:37Speaker 2: out I unlocked the door, pulled the chain off. I
- 54:40Speaker 2: kicked it over.
- 54:41Speaker 1: You're grabbing him by the dick. The whole time, I got.
- 54:43Speaker 2: That motherfucker holding on, clamping on. I didn't know balls
- 54:45Speaker 2: and dick. It even moved like that girl. I didn't
- 54:47Speaker 2: know that. Get stretched that damn high. I had no clue.
- 54:50Speaker 2: But I'm turning. I still stayed on his chest. I
- 54:53Speaker 2: had no clues. I was holding on to him, and
- 54:55Speaker 2: I moved over. He said, I said, now, if ever
- 54:58Speaker 2: you see me on the streets, what are you going
- 55:00Speaker 2: to say? He said Hi. I was like, He's like,
- 55:04Speaker 2: I said, no, you're not, motherfucker. If ever you see
- 55:07Speaker 2: me on the street, you're gonna go the opposite direction.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Do you underfucking stand me? He said, you know, get out?
- 55:14Speaker 2: And one more stuff. I made sure I was outdy,
- 55:17Speaker 2: I had my ass still had on. He had the
- 55:19Speaker 2: danger like his balls, everything on. One more that's had inside.
- 55:24Speaker 2: I had to say, Claire, I said, one more thing.
- 55:28Speaker 2: When the bed says no, she means no. And I
- 55:31Speaker 2: rocked him fire and I started walking out, and I
- 55:33Speaker 2: tossed the keys and I walked into a whole lot
- 55:36Speaker 2: of fog. So I kept falling, trying to find.
- 55:39Speaker 1: You're still you still got the stuff in you there and.
- 55:41Speaker 2: I'm trying to fall and trying to find my way
- 55:43Speaker 2: and all this fall, and all of a sudden, Colin,
- 55:46Speaker 2: I see these two tiny dots, two tiny dots, two lights,
- 55:50Speaker 2: and I'm walking toward them close and the closer I get,
- 55:52Speaker 2: the light get bigger and bigger. Then all of a sudden,
- 55:54Speaker 2: I go on the other side of the fog and
- 55:56Speaker 2: the car and guess what it was a yellow cab
- 56:00Speaker 2: with an old white man in it. He was just
- 56:03Speaker 2: sitting there with the lights on him. Oh wow, looking
- 56:07Speaker 2: thank you so again. And I said, and my shirt
- 56:10Speaker 2: on halfway off Teddy hanging out loft, dare shoes ranking
- 56:13Speaker 2: air ring all that shit, oh shit hanging out. And
- 56:16Speaker 2: I said, this guy tried to rape me. Gotta get
- 56:17Speaker 2: me out of here. He says, okay, so he takes off.
- 56:20Speaker 2: He takes me to my place, and I'm just thinking
- 56:23Speaker 2: I gotta pay him. So I go up. I said,
- 56:26Speaker 2: hang tight, I'm gonna I'm gonna pay you. Soon as
- 56:28Speaker 2: I go to the door and I turned back, the
- 56:30Speaker 2: cabin is gone. The cabin is gone. I'm like, go
- 56:37Speaker 2: and side pick the phone up. I called my mom,
- 56:40Speaker 2: this dude tried to rape me. I went out of
- 56:42Speaker 2: California right now. She said, what I said, the dude
- 56:45Speaker 2: tried to rape me. I went out of California right now.
- 56:48Speaker 2: She said, did Sissy, did he rape you? I said no,
- 56:53Speaker 2: I fucked him up. She said, good. Then it was
- 56:56Speaker 2: a fight, and you want to fight, We'll get you home.
- 57:00Speaker 2: We'll get you home. And I was on the next
- 57:01Speaker 2: flight back to Philly. Bad shit went. So anyway, I'm
- 57:05Speaker 2: back home Philly and stuff like that. Shall it stop
- 57:07Speaker 2: or continue?
- 57:08Speaker 1: You can continue. We're over time, guys, you understand.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Yeah, So I go back to Philly. I'm like tripping
- 57:17Speaker 2: out on an airplane. I'm tripping now. First of all,
- 57:18Speaker 2: on the airplane. I'm tripping out because I'm still fighting,
- 57:21Speaker 2: you know what I mean fighting. I don't trust nobody now.
- 57:23Speaker 2: And my my everything is just hyper my hearing. I
- 57:27Speaker 2: hear everybody, and I hear everything everybody's saying. But everything
- 57:30Speaker 2: is just I heard everything. So anyway, get back to Philly.
- 57:33Speaker 2: My family's there, hug My tell was going down. I'm
- 57:35Speaker 2: never gonna come. I'm never coming back to California again.
- 57:38Speaker 2: That was it. I didn't care. Leave all the material
- 57:39Speaker 2: leading card, all this stuff, I didn't care. I didn't care.
- 57:41Speaker 1: That's how traumatic that experience was.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm never coming back to California again. So anyway,
- 57:46Speaker 2: I'm back home. My fight team doesn't know that I'm
- 57:48Speaker 2: back home because we never really talked about our personal lives.
- 57:51Speaker 2: We only talked about fighting. So anyway, I'm back home
- 57:53Speaker 2: my mom. Since he stopped because I'm talking and turning out.
- 57:55Speaker 2: If we didn't realize I had PTSD, you know what
- 57:57Speaker 2: I mean, That's how I acquired TSD from that experience.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Cause I'm telling you, I was traumatized, but I was experience.
- 58:03Speaker 2: But I was ready for him.
- 58:04Speaker 1: So anyway, you know you was beyond ready. Let me
- 58:06Speaker 1: tell you something. They could do a whole movie around
- 58:07Speaker 1: that scene.
- 58:08Speaker 2: You know. That's funny. As moving forward to what happened
- 58:10Speaker 2: was I get this call from California Bennie de jet
- 58:12Speaker 2: thin Kidas, Hey, we got this opportunity for you to
- 58:15Speaker 2: fight for a world title. I was like what, I
- 58:17Speaker 2: was like, y'all coming to New York. I ain't going
- 58:20Speaker 2: to calling you. So my other coach, Davies, Look, you
- 58:25Speaker 2: got everything to gain, nothing to lose, now mind. They
- 58:27Speaker 2: don't know what I just went to. I said, man, look,
- 58:29Speaker 2: I'm not coming back. Man, I ain't coming back there.
- 58:31Speaker 2: They said, but you got opportunity to fight the most
- 58:33Speaker 2: dangerous woman in the world. So what happened? She was
- 58:35Speaker 2: on David Lennoman, right, and that's and they was like, Fredia,
- 58:38Speaker 2: free your turn TV. I'm back here in Philly. I'm like,
- 58:41Speaker 2: it's turn TV. So I see her, they like, and
- 58:44Speaker 2: the guy says to her, no, it's Johnny Carson, and
- 58:46Speaker 2: he says, if you're the most dangerous woman in the world,
- 58:49Speaker 2: He said, how can you be the most dangerous woman
- 58:51Speaker 2: in the world when you've never fought anyone in America?
- 58:54Speaker 2: And she said, I am here to fight flee g
- 58:57Speaker 2: I Gibbs in her French accent, and that kind of
- 59:00Speaker 2: inspired me. But it Morse inspired my mom, you understand.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Morse inspired my grandma because my mom was like, what's
- 59:10Speaker 2: a record? I said, twenty eight and two. My mom said, shit,
- 59:14Speaker 2: she ain't that damn dang s Gotta asked, well twice
- 59:17Speaker 2: you got damn tell her. I said that Jordan wanted her.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Mama warned her about you understand, and I was like,
- 59:23Speaker 2: I ain't gone. And then my grandmom says, listen, you
- 59:28Speaker 2: are star Fredia, and your job is to go out
- 59:32Speaker 2: there and let the world know you're a star. Go Na,
- 59:36Speaker 2: I ain't gone. I'm talking. I'm not gone. So then
- 59:40Speaker 2: and then finally I just want to decided, you know what, Okay,
- 59:43Speaker 2: my mom's lord, let's look at the map. I wanted
- 59:45Speaker 2: to look at the map. Where is Inglewood on the map?
- 59:48Speaker 2: Down there? Okay, I'm up here in Van and that's okay, okay, okay,
- 59:51Speaker 2: big difference. Okay, I handled that part, but I had
- 59:54Speaker 2: to see it. That makes it. I wanted to make sure,
- 59:56Speaker 2: I say, because I didn't want to run into him
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: on the streets. And I want to tell you this here.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Throughout from nineteen ninety three up until the day that
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: they call him, I've always looked over my shoulders in
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: fear that I would run into him.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: You know what, is into ash And you still have.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: That, yeah, because yeah, because I've never had First of all,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I've never been caught and damn sardine can with someone
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: who was really trying to really rape me. You understand,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: I've never experienced that before ever, And it was a
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: different kind of vibe. It was a different kind of energy,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: and it was a different kind of beast that I
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: was dealing with, which forced me to bring out a
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: beast in me that I didn't know I had it.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes just make sense.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyway, so I went ahead and took the
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: fight Championship. Fight, came back, started training with Saxon jan Jier.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: We did our magic there u c LA Drake Stadium.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: We prepared for kickboxing, multi kickboxing. We drive to San Jose.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: She's standing there looking off flying. You could tell she
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: was a superstar. You could really tell. She's stand and
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: they're looking press conference. She looking fly dress on first,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: I'm thinking dress. My thought was this girl looking off flying? Shit?
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Did she come here to model? I came here to fight?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: You did? Okay? Fine, So she comes up to me
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: and she says to me and oh she got this
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: whole entourroze all the French people. I looked on the
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: mop and I couldn't fight Chester and everybody started laughing.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: I said, bitch, tonight, not only will you find Chester
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: on the map, I want you to know that I'm
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: the one your mama warned your ball. Okay, oh okay,
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: and I just stood there looked at her. Undefeated guys
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: at the time, I was, yeah, I was undefeated. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: was like eleven and oh with ten knockouts at the time.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: So anyway, we started fighting there and then before we
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: go to fight, what happened is the promoter comes and
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: he says, we're gonna switch the fight from muy tier kickboxing.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And they was like, listen, her leg's gonna get tired
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: quickly because I was trained for more time. And then
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: that's when my coach said to me, look, all the
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: cars are stacked against you. They think that you're going
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: to be a punching bag. You understand, I said, man,
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: she and I'd have had over three hundred fights. If
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: they don't know, I had over three hundred fights in Philly, Yeah,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: they don't know. They call me Lady Jack Johnson and
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: the Projects. Yet I'm from the projects. Man, I ain't
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: worrying about that.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: This is my mind setting.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: So as I'm walking through to the ring, I hear
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: these people yelling that's the black girl who came here
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: to get knocked out. And at that time, that's when
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I said a silent prayer to God, tonight, Father, we
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: are going to shock the world. You understand, we got
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: in the ring. She was off here. Yeah, I got her.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: I got her. She come over. Bam, baby, she got me.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I didn't know girls, and look that damn fine could
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: fight well, she could put it all you shit. She
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: was putting it on me. And for real, she's putting
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: on me. And I was really surprised because when I
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: saw her, she was flying, feminine and sexy. I was
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: not real athletic like me, understand, and I was like, wow,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: so she's putting it on me. So I had to
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: grab her. Then I said, okay, hold on, I'm in
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: for a real tough one. So we started going in
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: and boom. First round, yes, she won. Second round, we
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: was gonna oh boom, bam you fine? Yes? So yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: keep you bad you chest yet, So we're going there.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Then all of a sudden, the third round, I started
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: my legs were getting tired. Yeah, so I had to
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: reach deep down inside because I was seeing myself fall.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: You know the old saying you see it, believe it achieved.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: I was seeing myself fall. I was like no. I
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: kept saying no, and I can't fight no. Then I
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: said father, I had to reach deep and the and
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I said, Father, helped me. My legs are getting tired.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Help me, Father, This is what I was saying. And
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: all of a sudden I kicked Bam and she went
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: to throw a punch and I came back and through
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: one of those project hooks from the project I called
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: my project Bram and she it connected with her and
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: the temple and it spent her around that I hit
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: her again, Bram.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: And she went on down.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: At that time, it was amazing. I stood over her.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: The referee count. I sitot over her with my hands
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: up and listen to this. Here there is a picture
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: of me standing over the most dangerous woman in the
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: world in front of over twenty thousand people in the arena.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: And the clock right there says age sixteen. A sixteen
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: is my mama's birthday. Damn. Wow, that's down in history.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Ain't that crazy?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: And that's nice?
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I love So that's the story. Wow.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Let me just tell you something. They you need a movie.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: You need a movie.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Thank you maya video my short film video that was
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: created by Sideline. I want to give them props. And
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: then we I went ahead and got collaborated with gold Casts.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: They're very huge in Canada, and then I had an
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: opportunity to collaborate with TF you Sports and all of
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: us collectively, we got over seventeen million views which would
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: viral and hopefully something's real good in the basket there.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: But it's very important that we learned to move in
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: silence and win in silence. And once we've won in silence,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: then we can share it with the world. That makes sense, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: because you know there are enemies, there are people out there.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: There's wolves out there, wol if it's one thing we
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: learned from this interview, there are wolves out there.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I'm trying to tell you Little ride Hood is a
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: true story. Yeah, what you want to do is flip
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the script on the wolf. That's my mom used to
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: tell me, Sissy, little Red riding Hood. That's a true story, baby.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: But you want to learn to flip the script on
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: the wolf. Do you understand me? That's very real.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: That's very real. It's a great way to close out.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: With that being said, can people do to keep up
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: with that Chitta?
