- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset, coach, creative strategist, and also happen to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So this morning I'm out here
- 0:32with the girls, and every time I come out it's the same routine.
- 0:36I make them a breakfast platter. It has varieties of vegetables
- 0:40and berries on it. And you know, whatever other
- 0:43treats I might have, leftovers in the refrigerator that we
- 0:47don't want to eat, I make sure nothing goes to waste.
- 0:49And it all comes to the chickens and they look forward to these
- 0:52breakfast platters every day. And it really makes me be super
- 0:56disciplined with, you know, giving them those because they
- 0:59look forward to it. And that's just how my brain
- 1:02works. But that's not the point of the
- 1:03story today. The point of the story is I come
- 1:05out and I believe in having eyes on things every day.
- 1:09I am not one of these people that has deep litter in their in
- 1:13their coop so that you, you know, basically only change it
- 1:15twice a year. I personally think that's
- 1:18disgusting and I could never do it.
- 1:20If you've ever smelled the chicken coop, you just don't
- 1:23ever want to do things that are going to cause odor or dampness
- 1:27or any fact for invasion of bugs.
- 1:31So one of my main things being out here is I have eyes on
- 1:36things. I can see things so this morning
- 1:38and they have hay under their roofs and you know, it's it's AI
- 1:42have a very nice setup and I did that on purpose.
- 1:45It's not very she she in the sense like I don't have a
- 1:47chandelier like some people do because you know, the dust would
- 1:50drive me crazy, but have a very nice setup.
- 1:54I come out and I flip the hay every day.
- 1:57And the reason I do that is because I want to see if there's
- 2:00anything in the hay that I need to see.
- 2:03And it also flips the chicken poop that's sitting on top of
- 2:06the hay over and it rotates it so it stops flies.
- 2:10I can then sprinkle on some first lime, which is a product
- 2:13for gardening and coops and other things that keeps pest
- 2:18away. It's a really brilliant product
- 2:20with a strap tank product, super cool.
- 2:22Cool. And I will sprinkle some of that
- 2:24on it. And no, I'm not getting an
- 2:25endorsement from them. I'm just saying it because it's
- 2:27super cool and if you've never used it, you should use it.
- 2:30And it works around your garden as well.
- 2:32So I'm out here and I'm getting ready to, you know, start the
- 2:36flipping process. I do the right side and then I
- 2:38do go to do the left side and I see that there's an egg.
- 2:41Someone laid an egg in the hay instead of the lay boxes, which
- 2:45sometimes happens. They just decide to randomly lay
- 2:48an egg somewhere. And I'm like, okay, you know,
- 2:51let me bend down to pick it up. And when I bend down to pick up
- 2:53the egg, there's still like, there's always my late crew.
- 2:57My late crew leaves. Like you can hear it's pretty
- 2:59quiet in here right now because my early crew has already had
- 3:02their snacks and they're, you know, outside busy.
- 3:06And I've got my late crew in here.
- 3:08And so there's a couple of girls, only a couple lay this
- 3:11early in the morning and the rest of them are off
- 3:12adventuring. And I go to, you know, pick up
- 3:17the egg and a couple of the late crew is still up in their roost,
- 3:20which I am below. And one of them poops on man's
- 3:24shoulder and I'm like, I feel it.
- 3:27And it immediately soaks, right? I'm going to cotton like
- 3:30sweatshirt on and it immediately soaks into it.
- 3:33And I'm like, unbelievable. I look up and I'm like, I, you
- 3:38couldn't wait 2 seconds to poop. I, I, you had to poop on me.
- 3:41And I'm like having this reaction And I start laughing
- 3:45immediately because she's looking at me like, of course it
- 3:48was a game for her. And whether she was thinking
- 3:51that or not, that's what I made out of it.
- 3:53And then I started laughing because I'm like, this is really
- 3:56funny because it's what we make it.
- 4:00And I have heard a million times that if a chicken poops on you,
- 4:03it's good luck. Now this is, and I've also said
- 4:06a million times, well, that's because the person that got
- 4:08pooped on is choosing to believe that it's good luck because they
- 4:11don't want to believe it's bad luck.
- 4:13It just like rain on your wedding day, right?
- 4:15Some people say if it rains on your wedding day, it's a it's a
- 4:18wonderful thing. And other people say if it rains
- 4:20on your wedding day, it's bad luck.
- 4:22It's all what you make it. It's all the psychology around
- 4:25it. So I looked up at her and I was
- 4:27like, you know what? OK, so that means I need to play
- 4:30the lottery because clearly you just bestowed good luck on me.
- 4:34And I like made that declaration.
- 4:37And it made me stop and think about how, wow, whatever we
- 4:40believe, we believe. Like we believe it, we believe
- 4:45it. We we put it in, we embody it.
- 4:47So the thought about this, why I'm bringing this up is if you
- 4:52have, you know, something happened to you, like a chicken
- 4:55poops on you, a bird poops on you, it's pouring, something
- 4:58goes off, why not choose to believe it's something
- 5:00different? I mean, is it, is it being
- 5:03ridiculous to say I want to bring good things to myself by
- 5:06focusing on good things? No, it's not ridiculous at all.
- 5:09But we have to believe it in order to make it happen.
- 5:12So I'm just going to throw that out there today.
- 5:15I'm believing that the chicken pooping on me was an excellent
- 5:19stroke of luck and that there are other things that are going
- 5:21to be bestowed upon me because of the poop of the chicken that
- 5:26came up. So I hope that you guys have
- 5:29that same thing happened to you. I hope that that same thing
- 5:33happens to you, and that you can, whatever that your version
- 5:37of chicken poop is, and that you can bestow upon it the belief
- 5:41that it happened for a greater good, greater reason, something
- 5:44wonderful, and make it an outstanding rest of the holiday
- 5:49weekend. And I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:51Bye.
