Transcript
- Lucas: Luna, ready for another Danish lesson? Luna: Yes! I've been practicing the supermarket phrases from last time. Lucas: That's great. Today we'll take it one step further: paying at the checkout. Luna: Oh, perfect. I always get nervous when it's time to pay. Lucas: By the end of this, you'll feel confident. And hey, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It keeps the show ad-free. Luna: Yeah, that's a nice way to help out. Now, what's the first phrase? Lucas: When you're ready to pay, you ask: 'Hvad koster det i alt?' That means 'What does it cost in total?' Luna: Hvad koster det i alt? Lucas: Perfect. Hvad koster det i alt. Let's break it down: 'hvad' is 'what', 'koster' is 'costs', 'det' is 'it', 'i alt' is 'in total'. Luna: Hvad koster det i alt. Got it. Lucas: Now, if you want to pay with card, you say: 'Kan jeg betale med kort?' Or the polite version: 'Må jeg betale med kort?' Luna: Kan jeg betale med kort. Må jeg betale med kort. What's the difference? Lucas: 'Kan' is about ability, 'må' is about permission. Both work at a store. So you can use either. Luna: Okay, so I'll try both. Kan jeg betale med kort? Må jeg betale med kort? Lucas: Exactly. Then when you hand over your card, you say: 'Her er mit kort.' That means 'Here is my card.' Luna: Her er mit kort. Lucas: Great. And after the transaction, the cashier might say 'Tak for i dag.' That means 'Thanks for today.' You can simply reply 'Tak for i dag' back. Luna: Tak for i dag. That's a nice way to end. Lucas: Let's practice a whole scene. I'm the cashier. You come to the checkout. Luna: Um, Hvad koster det i alt? Lucas: Det bliver 150 kroner. Luna: Kan jeg betale med kort? Lucas: Ja, det kan du. Luna: Her er mit kort. Lucas: Tak for i dag. Luna: Tak for i dag. Lucas: See? You did it. Try once more on your own. Luna: Hvad koster det i alt? Må jeg betale med kort? Her er mit kort. Tak for i dag. Lucas: Nailed it. Now you can pay at any Danish supermarket. Luna: That's so useful. I feel more ready for my next trip. Lucas: Remember to practice these phrases. And if you want to support us, visit buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. See you next time! Luna: Hej hej!
