K-9 Hero Santi Killed by Illegal Fireworks | Charleston News
A K-9 hero named Santi, a five-year-old Belgian Malinois with four years of service, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Clovis, California, after being startled by illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July. The deputy, who had Santi in the backyard for a break, tried to call him back as fireworks continued to explode — but Santi bolted over the fence and was hit around 8:30 PM.
