Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, we've got Rais clothes Repete Fairbanks back in
- 0:04Speaker 1: the house on FT. I just wanted to say house
- 0:07Speaker 1: to intro this because I know it's been a minute.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I was looking at the schedule. I'm like, you know,
- 0:12Speaker 1: I've been watching some Rais games here and there, Pete,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and you know I've been home in a minute.
- 0:16Speaker 2: So I checked.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Do you know the last day on the calendar that
- 0:20Speaker 1: you guys played a home game?
- 0:24Speaker 2: No, sir, I'll tell you worth an attempt to try.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I know it was, was it ya? Wah? No? August third?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Maybe nailed it?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, August third, you finished the Dodgers series, and then
- 0:41Speaker 1: three on the road against the Angels. So in Anaheim
- 0:44Speaker 1: in Seattle. Now, of course you're in Sacramento. Then you
- 0:47Speaker 1: go to San Francisco. At least they kept you on
- 0:48Speaker 1: the West coast for this trip. But what's it like
- 0:51Speaker 1: to be on the road for this period of time.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You guys have the imbalanced schedule this year for good reason.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But what's it like to actually be in it?
- 1:00Speaker 2: M I mean, I'm not, I'm not. It's kind of
- 1:03Speaker 2: weird for me, more so just the three hours behind
- 1:06Speaker 2: the rest of the family. But I mean, it's a
- 1:10Speaker 2: it's a road trip. It just happens to be extended.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's uh, you know, you're used to going on the road,
- 1:16Speaker 2: maybe just not for the extended amount of time. And
- 1:18Speaker 2: then you know, I get to see a city I've
- 1:21Speaker 2: never seen before. So maybe there's a positive there.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Okay, Sacramento. Yeah, I can see that. There's that's one
- 1:28Speaker 3: POSITIVEWL Sacramento. Let me know if you have any others.
- 1:30Speaker 3: But is there is there a time? Is there too
- 1:34Speaker 3: many days that year that three hours behind where it
- 1:38Speaker 3: starts to drain on you a little bit, or it
- 1:41Speaker 3: starts to reverse it, and then you guys go back
- 1:43Speaker 3: home when it's supposed to be an advantage and then
- 1:46Speaker 3: you're like, crap, I'm still in that three hour time difference.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Because I never felt like the trips that we took
- 1:51Speaker 3: were that bad. It never really affected me that much.
- 1:53Speaker 3: But you guys are out there.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think maybe the uh, you know
- 1:59Speaker 2: that first series when you're out on the West coast
- 2:01Speaker 2: and you're waking up at you know, six thirty instead
- 2:04Speaker 2: of nine, and it's you're feeling wide away, but your
- 2:06Speaker 2: your days have stretched that little bit. I think we're
- 2:10Speaker 2: all excited to uh, you know, hopefully turn this and
- 2:15Speaker 2: and in this roady on a high note and then
- 2:18Speaker 2: get back to uh, you know, lovely Florida.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Hey, hey, you know you love Florida. You move there,
- 2:25Speaker 4: so don't make fun of Florida.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'd be I do love it. Who that was? That
- 2:30Speaker 2: was nothing but a positive? I love Florida.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Okay, don't be craft. Okay, I I call myself a Floridian.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Now that's right. That's what everyone trives to be. People
- 2:42Speaker 4: don't move to New Jersey when they.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Retire, Okay, that's for sure.
- 2:45Speaker 4: They moved to Florida, So save it. But no, what
- 2:50Speaker 4: you mentioned those days where you know, you get out
- 2:53Speaker 4: to the West coast and and and and the day
- 2:56Speaker 4: is stretched? What do you do for those three hours?
- 2:57Speaker 4: Do you try to go back to sleep? Do you
- 2:58Speaker 4: get up and go for a walk, do you go
- 3:00Speaker 4: to the gym? Do you get breakfast early? What do
- 3:03Speaker 4: you do to Because I used to just I could
- 3:04Speaker 4: sleep anywhere, so I just would forced myself back to
- 3:07Speaker 4: sleep and didn't bother me that much. But what what
- 3:10Speaker 4: do you do, as Pete Fairbanks when you wake up
- 3:12Speaker 4: at six thirty instead of nine thirty?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I try and go back to sleep.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I think the first day out there, I woke up
- 3:19Speaker 2: at like six fifteen and then forced myself to not
- 3:22Speaker 2: get out of bed for at least a couple more hours,
- 3:24Speaker 2: trying at least feel like I slept more. But yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'm up. I'm walking around. I'm trying to find coffee,
- 3:31Speaker 2: you know, seeing what I seeing what I can find
- 3:33Speaker 2: out there to get up to. And speaking of the Sacramento positives,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I found a great coffee shop out here, So that's
- 3:41Speaker 2: that's a big positive for me. That's two.
- 3:44Speaker 3: We're counting, we're putting, We're putting check marks out there.
- 3:46Speaker 3: We'll keep bringing them up. Do you find yourself getting
- 3:49Speaker 3: tired at the end of games, though, I know that's
- 3:51Speaker 3: your time. Like when you're sitting in the sixth seventh
- 3:54Speaker 3: inning and you know, you left the clubhouse and you
- 3:57Speaker 3: saw other teams games end, and you're sitting there in
- 4:01Speaker 3: the six or seventh inning and it's like a nice
- 4:04Speaker 3: cool breeze flowing in your face.
- 4:06Speaker 4: You're like, I'm good, I'm good.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Okay, I'm awake, I'm awake.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I've I've pavel off myself to the extent
- 4:14Speaker 2: that you know, I started doing certain things and then
- 4:17Speaker 2: regardless of what time it is, I'm you know, getting
- 4:20Speaker 2: ready to roll.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Okay, So your routine keeps you awake talking about the
- 4:25Speaker 3: trade deadline, talk about the trade deadline, pending free agent
- 4:29Speaker 3: that you are. You know, they went and got a
- 4:31Speaker 3: Griffin Jacks. They kind of you know, Danny Janssen got shipped.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And how did you guys perceive it in the clubhouse
- 4:39Speaker 3: and was there other talks that maybe didn't come to fruition.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think overall, I think we took it as
- 4:47Speaker 2: a as a positive, you know, to have Bell out,
- 4:50Speaker 2: to have Yandy, to you know, remain with the team
- 4:53Speaker 2: for you know, the end of it. I think we
- 4:55Speaker 2: kind of took that as a as a net positive
- 4:57Speaker 2: that we were you know, there's still some belief in
- 5:00Speaker 2: this group, and I definitely think that, you know, as
- 5:02Speaker 2: a group, there's there's the belief there. Obviously, you know,
- 5:05Speaker 2: we haven't played up to you know, what we think
- 5:07Speaker 2: we're capable of, and obviously that's something that we're you know,
- 5:11Speaker 2: working towards. But yeah, there was a there were some
- 5:14Speaker 2: there were some rumors, a lot of rumors. Nothing that uh,
- 5:17Speaker 2: you know obviously came to fruition. But you know it's
- 5:20Speaker 2: uh that uh that what seven day period really leading
- 5:24Speaker 2: up where you start seeing your name and articles on
- 5:27Speaker 2: trade rumors and you're like, well, I guess this could
- 5:29Speaker 2: be it.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Does Neander do a good job of communicating with you guys?
- 5:34Speaker 4: Does he call like a veteran like in the office
- 5:38Speaker 4: and say, hey, man, like there's been offers, I'll keep
- 5:40Speaker 4: you posting, I'll give you ads up if something's closed.
- 5:43Speaker 4: He just like, hey, you'll find out on Twitter after
- 5:46Speaker 4: I do.
- 5:47Speaker 2: No, he's uh, he's great about it. It's you know,
- 5:51Speaker 2: and I obviously I let my agent do all the
- 5:53Speaker 2: uh the liaisons there, just so I can you know,
- 5:56Speaker 2: kind of push that to the back of the mind,
- 5:58Speaker 2: keep it, keep it away from you know, be in
- 6:00Speaker 2: too far to the forefront of your daily activities. So yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 2: he's in. My agent have a pretty relationship, so they
- 6:08Speaker 2: were able to keep me abreast of anything that I
- 6:11Speaker 2: needed to know. And then obviously if things had started,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you know, really going, I feel like we would have
- 6:16Speaker 2: had some I would have had some more dialogue with
- 6:17Speaker 2: Eric himself.
- 6:20Speaker 3: All the closers that went you kind of had a
- 6:23Speaker 3: feel once once one closer goes, You're like, wait a minute,
- 6:27Speaker 3: some of those things that Eric said could possibly happen.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Are you folding? Are you folding your clothes and leaving
- 6:33Speaker 3: them in a nice pile so that you're ready to
- 6:35Speaker 3: just pull them right off the locker and put them
- 6:38Speaker 3: in a bag, or like did it? How close did
- 6:41Speaker 3: it ever get in your mind?
- 6:45Speaker 2: You know, you start seeing those names go. I definitely
- 6:48Speaker 2: was probably seventy thirty that it was probably going to
- 6:51Speaker 2: be probably going to be shipped. I'm obviously glad that
- 6:54Speaker 2: it didn't happen. I'm so excited to be array and
- 6:57Speaker 2: be able to chase some things here. But yeah, it
- 7:00Speaker 2: was Uh we were already on the road, so I
- 7:02Speaker 2: tried to uh maybe overpack a little bit for that trip,
- 7:06Speaker 2: even though it was a week long.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Well, yeah, so you were. You were a little nervous.
- 7:11Speaker 4: You got a little nervous. I can't believe you'd have
- 7:12Speaker 4: to leave Florida for somewhere else. I listen, we all,
- 7:15Speaker 4: we all we have to leave Florida. Everyone gets nervous.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I get it.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I totally get it. You were prepped. I love that,
- 7:21Speaker 4: and I love that you're you know that that the
- 7:23Speaker 4: Kneeander is a great guy as far as that goes. Now,
- 7:26Speaker 4: let's go above knee injured. Let's go to Stu Sternberg.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Have you guys heard the stuff about the team being sold.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Has it been talked about at all? Or is it
- 7:33Speaker 4: just something that's out of your guys control and you
- 7:35Speaker 4: guys worry about it when that actually goes down.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we So we had a meeting once like that.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I don't know who reported at first, but kind of
- 7:46Speaker 2: when that first broke earlier in the year, had a
- 7:48Speaker 2: meeting or just you know, kind of get it out
- 7:51Speaker 2: there that it's not going to affect, you know, what
- 7:54Speaker 2: we're doing day to day. And kind of since then
- 7:57Speaker 2: we've obviously, you know, we're gonna let it be what
- 7:59Speaker 2: it is and it's nothing that you know, the twenty
- 8:01Speaker 2: six of us can control in our in our day
- 8:04Speaker 2: to day operations. So we're just trying to keep that
- 8:07Speaker 2: you know. Obviously it's going to happen. Well, as of now,
- 8:10Speaker 2: it's going to happen. It's been announced but not finalized,
- 8:14Speaker 2: so we're just you know, hanging out and then we'll
- 8:16Speaker 2: see what changes happened, you know, when it actually goes through.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Kratz tell everyone why they need to look into a

- 9:22Speaker 2: You know Pete.
- 9:23Speaker 1: When it comes to the trade deadline, fans like to
- 9:26Speaker 1: know buy sell, and the rais will often thread the
- 9:28Speaker 1: needle there.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Last year they sold right. This year.
- 9:31Speaker 1: The team is playing well for a while. I know
- 9:32Speaker 1: they haven't played as well lately, but I liked that
- 9:34Speaker 1: the team didn't, you know, sell peace way related to
- 9:36Speaker 1: this conversation, I'm going to relate it to what ajas too.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Do you think any of that had to do with saying, Hey,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know what, this team's gonna probably move ownership groups
- 9:45Speaker 1: next year, let's try and keep this together and see
- 9:47Speaker 1: if we can have a little fun and do something special.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think that that, you know, it
- 9:53Speaker 2: was definitely obviously not an owner, but I think if
- 9:56Speaker 2: I were, I think that that would be my you know,
- 9:59Speaker 2: if it's you know, potentially my last run at it,
- 10:01Speaker 2: I'm going to, you know, try and make a run
- 10:03Speaker 2: at it. So, you know, if that was a thought process,
- 10:05Speaker 2: obviously the guys in the clubhouse are grateful for it,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and you know, hopefully we can get a little get
- 10:11Speaker 2: a little streaky here and see what happens.
- 10:15Speaker 3: If you were going to if you were asked at
- 10:17Speaker 3: the trade deadline, hey I want to go somewhere. Is
- 10:20Speaker 3: there a team or a player? Most guys shake at
- 10:23Speaker 3: the like, oh, I don't want to say a team.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Is there a player you'd want to go play? With
- 10:27Speaker 3: and go you know.
- 10:28Speaker 4: What, I'd like to try to win a World Series.
- 10:30Speaker 2: With that guy. Oh, a player, and it can.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Be somebody that you face that you're like, Man, if
- 10:42Speaker 3: I don't ever have to face them, that's just like
- 10:43Speaker 3: a net positive for me. My numbers would go through
- 10:45Speaker 3: the roof.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go for strictly for that, Let's go for
- 10:52Speaker 2: a seer because I think I think for the first
- 10:55Speaker 2: I think I got him out for the first time
- 10:57Speaker 2: in my career this year, after racing him for however
- 11:01Speaker 2: many it's been, I'm pretty sure that it would have
- 11:04Speaker 2: been the first time I've gotten about was this year.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And he has a winning player, he definitely has.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah, he's before that's for sure. Yeah, one of the.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Most clutch hitters of our era of baseball here the
- 11:17Speaker 1: last you know, ten fifteen years Pete, how is Griffin
- 11:20Speaker 1: Jacks so new teammate? Great stuff looks like one of
- 11:23Speaker 1: those classic raised fines where you know he's gonna work
- 11:26Speaker 1: out well for a bullpen that always seems to replenish.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, great find mainly because he knows how to play cribbage,
- 11:35Speaker 2: and we've lost a lot of cribage players at the deadline,
- 11:38Speaker 2: so it was nice to uh to add one back
- 11:40Speaker 2: in so we could still play a fourth person crib Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I mean, he's the guy, super super talented, works very hard,
- 11:47Speaker 2: very diligent with with everything that he does on a
- 11:50Speaker 2: day to day basis. And you know, he is an
- 11:54Speaker 2: incredible arm talent and might throw the best breaking ball
- 11:57Speaker 2: in the game. So anytime you got those things going
- 11:59Speaker 2: for you, I think that that's a huge boon for
- 12:01Speaker 2: the team. All Right.
- 12:04Speaker 4: First of all, a couple of things on Griffin Jacks. One,
- 12:07Speaker 4: he's played in Minnesota. Everybody in Minnesota knows how to
- 12:10Speaker 4: play cribbage, so you should have known that as soon
- 12:11Speaker 4: as you saw his name pop up. Anybody that is
- 12:14Speaker 4: from Minnesota around Minnesota played for Minnesota. And that's the
- 12:17Speaker 4: other day a buddy of mine was playing cribbage and
- 12:19Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, you should do this, and and it
- 12:21Speaker 4: was in where was I just in Texas? Oh, think
- 12:24Speaker 4: the Phillies guys are playing, They're like, you know how
- 12:26Speaker 4: to play? Or no, the sorry, the Rangers guys are playing,
- 12:28Speaker 4: They're like, you know how to play cribbage. I'm like, dude,
- 12:30Speaker 4: I came up with the Twins. Everybody knows how to
- 12:31Speaker 4: play Priviage.
- 12:32Speaker 2: In Minnestoa hand at hand. Yes.
- 12:36Speaker 4: And then also when next time you see Griffin Jacks,
- 12:38Speaker 4: we asked the missis on the on the on the
- 12:40Speaker 4: air here. He hates the taste of water, so next
- 12:42Speaker 4: time you see him, be like this water is tasty.
- 12:45Speaker 4: And then just see what he because I guess when
- 12:46Speaker 4: he was in the Air Force, they had to drink
- 12:48Speaker 4: so much water, he just got sick of it, so
- 12:51Speaker 4: he just wanted to So one of the famous facts
- 12:55Speaker 4: about him is he hates the taste of water.
- 12:57Speaker 2: All right, that he is. It's great. We were not
- 12:59Speaker 2: today when we got into a Sacramento and he is
- 13:03Speaker 2: a sparkling water guy. So we finally I finally got
- 13:05Speaker 2: somebody else that you know at the team dinners. Will
- 13:07Speaker 2: we'll drink? I can?
- 13:12Speaker 4: You should be made fun of. Nobody drinks sparkling water.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Oh somebody drinks sparkling Stop. I'm with you on the
- 13:19Speaker 2: Florida take. I'm not with you on that take.
- 13:21Speaker 4: You're that's the look who drinks sparkling water right there.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I love Florida and I love sparkling water. And do
- 13:28Speaker 1: you like sparkling water?
- 13:30Speaker 2: I do, I don't drink it. All the time.
- 13:32Speaker 3: You can't chug sparkling water. But it's a nice.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Nice it's a good dinner. It's a good dinner. It's
- 13:38Speaker 2: a good you know, assist to a nice dinner. I'm
- 13:40Speaker 2: not gonna, you know, take it out to the bullpen
- 13:42Speaker 2: with me.
- 13:43Speaker 3: No, it's not. It's not hydrating me. You're so we
- 13:46Speaker 3: thought you would be more high class than that. Aj
- 13:49Speaker 3: mmmmm No, no, you.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I mean Essentia. It's not. He's not drinking hose water.
- 13:59Speaker 2: That's essential. That's that's some some high quality still water there.
- 14:03Speaker 4: As funny as we're talking about this, listen, the water
- 14:05Speaker 4: tastes different in every bottle. I'm sorry, every bottled water
- 14:08Speaker 4: tastes a little bit different. I don't care what you're saying.
- 14:10Speaker 4: There a certain ones I like and certain ones I like,
- 14:13Speaker 4: So you have to kind of yes, I'm picky about
- 14:15Speaker 4: my water. I apologize, yes, call.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And lowest, lowest on that list is designing every time.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Well, that's because it's not. It's it's just tap water.
- 14:25Speaker 4: They run through a filter and they say, here you go.
- 14:27Speaker 3: It's from Florida.
- 14:28Speaker 4: That's why No. Zephyr Hills is from Florida.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Purified and spring et cetera.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Yeskrats, no last one for me. Pe you had set
- 14:39Speaker 3: you kind of glazed over a little bit. You said,
- 14:42Speaker 3: we make a run here. You guys are six and
- 14:44Speaker 3: a half out. We talk about how far out is
- 14:47Speaker 3: too far out? What are those conversations like in the
- 14:50Speaker 3: locker room? Because you can look at different numbers and
- 14:53Speaker 3: it can say, you guys have been super unlucky. You
- 14:55Speaker 3: guys should actually be seven games over five hundred if
- 14:59Speaker 3: you look at some of the numbers. So is it
- 15:02Speaker 3: something that you guys say, hey, if this happens, or
- 15:06Speaker 3: we can do this, or we can change this. We
- 15:08Speaker 3: see this because that's a lot of scoreboard watching. You're
- 15:11Speaker 3: looking at everybody, but like you know, the Marlins and
- 15:16Speaker 3: the Rockies and the and they're not even in your
- 15:18Speaker 3: in your league, so it doesn't matter. But like, what
- 15:21Speaker 3: are you guys doing, How is that? How is that
- 15:23Speaker 3: coming together? And some people do some people say, come on, Pete,
- 15:27Speaker 3: you know that's not gonna happen.
- 15:32Speaker 2: No, I said the other day, you know the last
- 15:34Speaker 2: thing that we need to do is to look forty
- 15:37Speaker 2: two games out or forty games out now, whatever it is.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You know, nothing nothing starts obviously, I mean, you have
- 15:44Speaker 2: to have a big picture, right, the big pictures make
- 15:46Speaker 2: the playoffs to win, et cetera. But then how do
- 15:49Speaker 2: we go about it. We go about it by playing
- 15:51Speaker 2: good baseball every day, and we think that, you know,
- 15:53Speaker 2: when we can get to that, you know, that mindset
- 16:00Speaker 2: of we're just going to do it every day. We're
- 16:02Speaker 2: not going to go and you know, think three weeks
- 16:05Speaker 2: down the road, think a month down the road. We're
- 16:07Speaker 2: going to sit there and go do what we need
- 16:09Speaker 2: to do, you know, on a daily basis to win
- 16:12Speaker 2: a ball game. I think that you then you take
- 16:14Speaker 2: that and you can pound it and you go from
- 16:16Speaker 2: there as opposed to you know, storeboard watching it and
- 16:19Speaker 2: looking at all this stuff that you can't control. We're
- 16:21Speaker 2: just going to try and do what we can do,
- 16:23Speaker 2: you know, and have our good at bats, get ahead
- 16:26Speaker 2: and the account execute with two strikes, et cetera, and
- 16:28Speaker 2: focus on the stuff that internally we can control as
- 16:31Speaker 2: opposed to you know, anything else. And then hopefully you know,
- 16:35Speaker 2: when you're moving that to an internal goal and focus
- 16:38Speaker 2: on what you can do. You know, you can compound
- 16:40Speaker 2: it after that.
- 16:42Speaker 1: P my last one of then AJ's got one for
- 16:44Speaker 1: you to finish up. So you play the Yankees a lot.
- 16:47Speaker 1: They clearly have had some issues last couple of seasons
- 16:49Speaker 1: with sloppy play, sometimes fundamentals, et cetera. Right, they'll they'll
- 16:53Speaker 1: even admit that themselves. My question is from a fan perspective.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Fans just think the manager is the one in charge.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And I'm generalizing here, but I've gone back and forth
- 17:02Speaker 1: with the can you speak to how much influence a
- 17:05Speaker 1: manager has for a thirty year old player who's been
- 17:09Speaker 1: playing his whole life and makes a mondemental mistake or
- 17:12Speaker 1: maybe just isn't as much of like the fundamental player
- 17:15Speaker 1: and is more of like a power only guy. I
- 17:18Speaker 1: guess you know where I'm going here. You know, you
- 17:20Speaker 1: played for Kevin Cash for a long period of time.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm sure the team has gone through stretches where it's sloppy.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Is that the manager's fault?
- 17:28Speaker 2: I don't think that you can scapego to manager for
- 17:33Speaker 2: you know, us not being locked in, right. I think
- 17:35Speaker 2: that you know there's thing that you can scapegoing to
- 17:38Speaker 2: manager for, et cetera. And they usually are the ones
- 17:41Speaker 2: that end up, you know, taking the fall if we're
- 17:43Speaker 2: not doing our jobs. But you know, for me if
- 17:48Speaker 2: we're not locked in, and if we're making the mental
- 17:50Speaker 2: mistakes and we're doing stuff that we shouldn't be doing
- 17:53Speaker 2: out there, that's different than you know, the stuff that
- 17:58Speaker 2: that a manager has control over, whether it's you know,
- 18:00Speaker 2: moves that they're making, et cetera. Like, are the stuff
- 18:03Speaker 2: that we do out there, you know, if we're not
- 18:05Speaker 2: locked in, that's that's on us.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Speaking of locked in, all right, let me ask you this.
- 18:12Speaker 4: You've been on the road for a month, okay, pretty much.
- 18:15Speaker 2: The home month.
- 18:15Speaker 4: What do you do about the lego situation? Because I
- 18:18Speaker 4: know you're a big lego guy. So do you bring
- 18:20Speaker 4: legos with you on the road or you just do
- 18:21Speaker 4: them at home? How does this work? Because you've got
- 18:24Speaker 4: to have something to get your mind off of trying
- 18:25Speaker 4: to close out the night. So what do you do
- 18:27Speaker 4: with the lego situation on the road for a month?
- 18:30Speaker 2: So road for me is typically I'll go more, I'll
- 18:34Speaker 2: try and find card shops, I'll go more on the
- 18:36Speaker 2: pokemon side, leave the legos at home. But my wife
- 18:40Speaker 2: and son went to a Lego convention down in Tampa
- 18:45Speaker 2: this past week, and I have might be the most
- 18:49Speaker 2: jealous I've ever been on a road trip. Because there
- 18:51Speaker 2: were some some incredible mocks. And then you know, anytime
- 18:55Speaker 2: you get to see a really happy kindergartener is a
- 18:57Speaker 2: good time. So I wish I could have been there
- 19:00Speaker 2: for that one. But my son got back on Isaac.
- 19:04Speaker 2: He gets back, he spent probably I don't know, a
- 19:07Speaker 2: few days, maybe a week working on this like medieval town,
- 19:11Speaker 2: village whatever. And he goes there and he sees all
- 19:13Speaker 2: these other builds and he comes back and he looks
- 19:15Speaker 2: at my wife and goes, I need to tear this
- 19:18Speaker 2: down and start over. I can do way better than that.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Wow. Wow, And then you and then your wallet's like, man,
- 19:25Speaker 4: you can't do way better than this. Go back, all.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Right, I'm gonna have to be making bulk before I
- 19:33Speaker 2: know it, I'm going to be having to buy specific
- 19:36Speaker 2: colors in bulk so this kid can can finish all
- 19:39Speaker 2: of his creations. But I'm always down for it. I
- 19:42Speaker 2: think that'll be a great time.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great for the brain.
- 19:45Speaker 2: You gotta let him go.
- 19:47Speaker 4: So wait, did different don't know any think about Pokemon?
- 19:49Speaker 4: So it was like a different shops have different cards.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I don't know anything about Pokemon.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Don't say Pokemon.
- 19:59Speaker 2: What is it? Why not? Why not?
- 20:02Speaker 3: It's Pokemon, It's not poke. Yeah, it's like nails.
- 20:06Speaker 2: It's not a He's saying that, like that's gonna be
- 20:09Speaker 2: a bowl of raw fish and rice.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Is that what I'm Yeah, it's a Jamaican bowl of
- 20:14Speaker 4: raw fish Pokemon.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you never know. You go to different shops, they
- 20:20Speaker 2: got different singles, they might have different sealed stuff. You know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: it's obviously in a in a resale market, there's no
- 20:27Speaker 2: you know, it's just like just like a sports card, right,
- 20:29Speaker 2: you go to a different spot, they got different stuff
- 20:31Speaker 2: that they're they're selling for singles. You might be able
- 20:33Speaker 2: to get boxes you can't get elsewhere. So keeps me busy,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and it's uh, you know, gets me out of the
- 20:38Speaker 2: hotel room and gets me off of my college football dynasties.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the collector game. The collector game is fun
- 20:46Speaker 1: and you get to hop to different cities so you
- 20:48Speaker 1: get to run into different shops.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I like it people, honestly.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm amazed how many players now are into the
- 20:54Speaker 4: collector thing, because i mean, listen, I mean I'm the
- 20:57Speaker 4: old guy, but I'm just saying that, you know, I'm
- 21:01Speaker 4: the old guy. Guys didn't care. Guys weren't collecting cards
- 21:04Speaker 4: and Pooky Moon or whatever, Pooky Moon or pick them
- 21:07Speaker 4: on or pick them on.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yeah, guys were going out four or five in the morning.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They don't really do that anymore.
- 21:13Speaker 4: WHOA, no, no, Scott, No, we were all sitting in
- 21:16Speaker 4: our room watching the television and our scouting reports reading. Yes,
- 21:20Speaker 4: thank you, but no, but guys weren't collectors. It's cool.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I think it's cool. Guys collect Pooky Moon, they collect
- 21:26Speaker 4: Poopy Moan, and they collect their own cards. I mean
- 21:28Speaker 4: it's cool.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You know, you are a collector. You just you just
- 21:32Speaker 2: collect different stuff. Aja, you go for the Lego sets.
- 21:35Speaker 2: And we got guys out that are more cards. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 2: that's a lot of dues. Legos collect dust like nobody's
- 21:42Speaker 2: business exactly. AJ glues them. He's a crackle.
- 21:49Speaker 3: You're b oh my gosh, oh because my kids pick
- 21:53Speaker 3: them up, and he represents the lord business.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Went for it, went for. It is Halloween when you're
- 21:59Speaker 4: did the whole thing, the whole the full.
- 22:07Speaker 1: All right, Well, this nerd out session is brought to
- 22:10Speaker 1: you by Thanks Pete.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Good stuff. Appreciate We'll got you soon.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Get get home soon. Get some home cooked foods.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I'm doing my best. I got four more days. Yes,
- 22:22Speaker 2: all right, guys,
