  countertops
• 1:11
  and
• 1:11
  what
• 1:11
  are
• 1:11
  the
• 1:12
  best
• 1:12
  materials
• 1:13
  for
• 1:13
  the
• 1:13
  job.
• 1:13
  And
• 1:14
  then
• 1:14
  down
• 1:14
  below
• 1:14
  that
• 1:15
  was
• 1:15
  in
• 1:15
  the
• 1:15
  raised
• 1:16
  bar
• 1:16
  because
• 1:16
  I
• 1:17
  built
• 1:17
  this
• 1:17
  later.
• 1:18
  I
• 1:19
  actually
• 1:19
  built
• 1:19
  that
• 1:20
  lower
• 1:20
  section
• 1:21
  out
• 1:22
  of
• 1:22
  the
• 1:22
  paper
• 1:22
  stone
• 1:22
  because
• 1:23
  I
• 1:23
  wanted
• 1:23
  something
• 1:23
  that's
• 1:23
  going
• 1:24
  to
• 1:24
  be
• 1:24
  durable,
• 1:24
  something
• 1:24
  that
• 1:24
  was
• 1:25
  going
• 1:25
  to
• 1:25
  match
• 1:25
  that
• 1:25
  pretty
• 1:26
  well
• 1:27
  but
• 1:27
  give
• 1:27
  myself
• 1:28
  a
• 1:29
  really
• 1:29
  nice
• 1:29
  softer
• 1:30
  surface
• 1:30
  to
• 1:30
  work
• 1:31
  with
• 1:32
  and
• 1:32
  I
• 1:32
  really
• 1:32
  like
• 1:32
  it
• 1:33
  for
• 1:33
  that.
• 1:33
  That
• 1:33
  is
• 1:34
  something
• 1:34
  you
• 1:34
  can
• 1:34
  do
• 1:35
  and
• 1:36
  I
• 1:36
  use
• 1:37
  power
• 1:37
  tools
• 1:37
  to
• 1:37
  finish.
• 1:38
  It
• 1:38
  worked
• 1:38
  out
• 1:38
  great.
• 1:39
  So
• 1:39
  grab
• 1:40
  your
• 1:40
  toolbox,
• 1:41
  put
• 1:41
  on
• 1:41
  your
• 1:41
  thinking
• 1:42
  cap
• 1:42
  and
• 1:42
  let's

  I've

  had
• 2:12
  a
• 2:13
  request
• 2:13
  from
• 2:14
  a
• 2:14
  couple
• 2:14
  people
• 2:15
  here
• 2:15
  recently.
• 2:16
  We
• 2:16
  haven't
• 2:17
  talked
• 2:17
  much
• 2:18
  about
• 2:18
  countertops.
• 2:20
  Whether
• 2:20
  you're
• 2:20
  doing
• 2:20
  an
• 2:21
  outdoor
• 2:21
  kitchen,
• 2:22
  that
• 2:22
  bathroom
• 2:23
  remodel,
• 2:24
  that
• 2:24
  kitchen,
• 2:24
  or
• 2:25
  maybe
• 2:25
  even
• 2:25
  a
• 2:25
  workshop,
• 2:26
  we've
• 2:27
  got
• 2:27
  something
• 2:27
  here
• 2:28
  for
• 2:28
  you
• 2:28
  today
• 2:29
  in
• 2:29
  this
• 2:29
  first
• 2:29
  hour
• 2:30
  where
• 2:30
  we're
• 2:30
  talking
• 2:31
  everything
• 2:31
  countertops.
• 2:32
  Now
• 2:33
  if
• 2:33
  you
• 2:33
  do
• 2:33
  have
• 2:33
  a
• 2:33
  question
• 2:34
  for
• 2:34
  me,
• 2:34
  head
• 2:34
  over
• 2:35
  to
• 2:35
  aroundthehouse
• 2:36
  online.com
• 2:37
  you
• 2:37
  can
• 2:37
  send
• 2:37
  it
• 2:38
  over
• 2:38
  here
• 2:38
  like
• 2:38
  a
• 2:38
  couple
• 2:39
  people
• 2:39
  did
• 2:39
  and
• 2:39
  said,
• 2:40
  hey,
• 2:40
  can
• 2:40
  you
• 2:40
  talk
• 2:40
  more
• 2:41
  about
• 2:41
  this?
• 2:42
  And
• 2:42
  that's
• 2:42
  what
• 2:42
  we're
• 2:43
  doing
• 2:43
  today.
• 2:44
  So
• 2:44
  that
• 2:44
  way
• 2:44
  I
• 2:44
  can
• 2:44
  help
• 2:45
  you
• 2:45
  get
• 2:45
  your
• 2:46
  question
• 2:46
  answered.
• 2:47
  When
• 2:47
  it
• 2:48
  comes
• 2:48
  to
• 2:48
  countertops,
• 2:49
  there's
• 2:49
  one
• 2:49
  thing
• 2:49
  that
• 2:50
  I
• 2:50
  want
• 2:50
  you
• 2:50
  to
• 2:50
  remind
• 2:51
  yourself
• 2:52
  of
• 2:52
  is
• 2:53
  the
• 2:53
  overall
• 2:53
  plan
• 2:54
  of
• 2:54
  the
• 2:54
  project
• 2:54
  you're
• 2:55
  working
• 2:55
  on.
• 2:56
  Out
• 2:56
  of
• 2:56
  my
• 2:57
  30
• 2:57
  plus
• 2:58
  year
• 2:58
  career
• 3:00
  of
• 3:00
  actually
• 3:01
  designing
• 3:01
  people's
• 3:02
  kitchens
• 3:03
  and
• 3:03
  bathrooms,
• 3:04
  the
• 3:04
  biggest
• 3:05
  mistake
• 3:05
  that
• 3:05
  I
• 3:06
  see
• 3:06
  is
• 3:06
  people
• 3:06
  get
• 3:07
  things
• 3:07
  out
• 3:07
  of
• 3:07
  order.
• 3:08
  So
• 3:09
  many
• 3:09
  times
• 3:09
  people
• 3:09
  will
• 3:10
  flip
• 3:10
  their
• 3:10
  house,
• 3:10
  hey,
• 3:11
  I'm
• 3:11
  going
• 3:11
  to
• 3:11
  put
• 3:11
  it
• 3:11
  for
• 3:11
  market,
• 3:11
  but
• 3:12
  I'm
• 3:12
  going
• 3:12
  to
• 3:12
  throw
• 3:12
  this
• 3:12
  on
• 3:12
  real
• 3:13
  quick.
• 3:13
  Guess
• 3:14
  what
• 3:14
  happens
• 3:15
  if
• 3:15
  you
• 3:15
  throw
• 3:15
  a
• 3:15
  countertop
• 3:16
  on
• 3:16
  that's
• 3:16
  made
• 3:17
  out
• 3:17
  of
• 3:17
  stone,
• 3:18
  quartz,
• 3:19
  any
• 3:19
  hard
• 3:19
  surface
• 3:20
  like
• 3:20
  that,
• 3:20
  other
• 3:21
  than
• 3:21
  like
• 3:21
  a
• 3:21
  butcher
• 3:21
  block.
• 3:22
  The
• 3:23
  Chance
• 3:23
  of
• 3:23
  removing
• 3:24
  that
• 3:24
  to
• 3:24
  change
• 3:24
  the
• 3:24
  cabinets
• 3:25
  out
• 3:25
  underneath
• 3:26
  it
• 3:26
  is
• 3:26
  less
• 3:27
  than
• 3:27
  50%.
• 3:28
  Many
• 3:29
  times
• 3:30
  that
• 3:30
  sink
• 3:31
  cutout
• 3:32
  loves
• 3:32
  to
• 3:32
  break
• 3:34
  as
• 3:34
  you're
• 3:34
  removing
• 3:34
  those
• 3:35
  countertops.
• 3:36
  So
• 3:37
  pretty
• 3:37
  much
• 3:37
  I
• 3:38
  tell
• 3:38
  people
• 3:39
  you
• 3:39
  might
• 3:39
  be
• 3:40
  able
• 3:40
  to
• 3:40
  save
• 3:40
  it,
• 3:41
  but
• 3:41
  really
• 3:42
  you're
• 3:42
  better
• 3:43
  off
• 3:43
  starting
• 3:43
  over
• 3:44
  because
• 3:44
  you're
• 3:45
  going
• 3:45
  to
• 3:45
  pay
• 3:45
  a
• 3:45
  premium
• 3:46
  to
• 3:46
  have
• 3:46
  somebody
• 3:46
  sit
• 3:46
  there
• 3:47
  and
• 3:47
  try
• 3:47
  to
• 3:47
  cut
• 3:47
  that
• 3:47
  silicone
• 3:48
  loose
• 3:49
  and
• 3:49
  get
• 3:49
  that
• 3:50
  adhesive
• 3:50
  loose
• 3:50
  so
• 3:51
  you
• 3:51
  can
• 3:51
  take
• 3:51
  the
• 3:51
  countertops
• 3:52
  without
• 3:52
  breaking
• 3:53
  them
• 3:53
  off
• 3:53
  the
• 3:53
  cabinets.
• 3:55
  So
• 3:55
  don't
• 3:55
  do
• 3:56
  countertops
• 3:56
  too
• 3:57
  early.
• 3:58
  If
• 3:58
  you're
• 3:59
  thinking
• 3:59
  about
• 4:00
  replacing
• 4:01
  the
• 4:01
  cabinets
• 4:01
  down
• 4:02
  below,
• 4:03
  wait
• 4:03
  and
• 4:03
  do
• 4:04
  it
• 4:04
  all
• 4:04
  at
• 4:04
  the
• 4:05
  same
• 4:05
  time
• 4:06
  and
• 4:06
  save
• 4:06
  yourself
• 4:07
  thousands
• 4:08
  of
• 4:08
  dollars
• 4:09
  in
• 4:09
  doing
• 4:10
  this.
• 4:11
  So
• 4:11
  don't
• 4:11
  get
• 4:11
  too,
• 4:12
  too
• 4:12
  quick
• 4:13
  on
• 4:13
  that
• 4:13
  one,
• 4:13
  guys.
• 4:14
  That
• 4:14
  could
• 4:14
  save
• 4:15
  you
• 4:15
  a
• 4:15
  ton
• 4:15
  of
• 4:15
  headaches
• 4:16
  because
• 4:16
  the
• 4:17
  chances
• 4:17
  of
• 4:17
  breaking
• 4:18
  it
• 4:18
  is
• 4:18
  greater
• 4:19
  than
• 4:19
  not.
• 4:20
  So
• 4:20
  be
• 4:20
  very
• 4:20
  careful.
• 4:21
  And
• 4:21
  that's
• 4:22
  counting
• 4:22
  that
• 4:22
  you
• 4:22
  can
• 4:23
  find
• 4:23
  somebody
• 4:23
  that
• 4:23
  can
• 4:23
  remove
• 4:24
  it
• 4:24
  and
• 4:24
  replace
• 4:24
  it
• 4:25
  that'll
• 4:25
  even
• 4:26
  try
• 4:26
  it.
• 4:27
  I
• 4:27
  have
• 4:27
  tried
• 4:27
  in
• 4:28
  the
• 4:28
  past
• 4:28
  and
• 4:29
  you
• 4:29
  just
• 4:29
  gotta
• 4:29
  have
• 4:30
  that
• 4:30
  great
• 4:30
  relationship.
• 4:31
  Most
• 4:31
  people
• 4:32
  won't
• 4:32
  touch
• 4:32
  that.
• 4:33
  As
• 4:33
  far
• 4:33
  as
• 4:33
  granite
• 4:34
  fabricators
• 4:35
  to
• 4:35
  remove
• 4:36
  and
• 4:36
  reinstall,
• 4:37
  they
• 4:37
  want
• 4:37
  nothing
• 4:38
  to
• 4:38
  do
• 4:38
  with
• 4:38
  it.
• 4:39
  There's
• 4:39
  exceptions
• 4:40
  out
• 4:40
  there,
• 4:41
  but
• 4:41
  many
• 4:41
  won't
• 4:42
  even
• 4:42
  tackle
• 4:42
  that
• 4:43
  project.
• 4:44
  So
• 4:44
  when
• 4:44
  you're
• 4:44
  thinking
• 4:45
  about
• 4:45
  countertops,
• 4:46
  I
• 4:47
  want
• 4:47
  you
• 4:47
  to
• 4:47
  think
• 4:47
  about
• 4:48
  the
• 4:49
  overall
• 4:49
  look.
• 4:50
  What
• 4:50
  do
• 4:50
  you
• 4:50
  want
• 4:50
  that
• 4:51
  to
• 4:51
  look
• 4:51
  like?
• 4:52
  Your
• 4:53
  budget?
• 4:54
  And
• 4:54
  what's
• 4:54
  the
• 4:55
  durability
• 4:55
  factor?
• 4:57
  What
• 4:57
  do
• 4:57
  I
• 4:57
  mean
• 4:58
  by
• 4:58
  the
• 4:58
  durability
• 4:59
  of
• 4:59
  this?
• 4:59
  This
• 4:59
  is
• 4:59
  a
• 4:59
  big
• 5:00
  one.
• 5:01
  If
• 5:01
  you
• 5:01
  go
• 5:01
  into
• 5:01
  Europe
• 5:02
  and
• 5:02
  take
• 5:02
  a
• 5:02
  look
• 5:02
  there,
• 5:03
  they
• 5:03
  love
• 5:03
  marble.
• 5:04
  It
• 5:04
  looks
• 5:04
  great.
• 5:05
  But
• 5:06
  the
• 5:06
  Europeans
• 5:06
  look
• 5:06
  at
• 5:07
  a
• 5:07
  countertop
• 5:07
  surface
• 5:08
  way
• 5:08
  differently
• 5:10
  than
• 5:10
  us.
• 5:10
  Over
• 5:10
  here
• 5:11
  in
• 5:11
  the
• 5:11
  United
• 5:12
  States,
• 5:13
  marble
• 5:13
  is
• 5:14
  soft.
• 5:15
  It
• 5:15
  loves
• 5:16
  to
• 5:16
  stain.
• 5:17
  It
• 5:17
  loves
• 5:18
  to
• 5:18
  get
• 5:18
  its
• 5:18
  own
• 5:18
  patina,
• 5:20
  that
• 5:20
  little
• 5:20
  bit
• 5:20
  of
• 5:20
  red
• 5:21
  wine,
• 5:21
  maybe
• 5:21
  the
• 5:22
  pickle
• 5:22
  juice,
• 5:22
  whatever
• 5:23
  that
• 5:24
  will
• 5:24
  stain
• 5:25
  those
• 5:25
  countertops.
• 5:26
  And
• 5:26
  most
• 5:27
  people
• 5:27
  will
• 5:27
  not
• 5:27
  be
• 5:28
  going
• 5:28
  in
• 5:28
  there
• 5:28
  every
• 5:28
  six
• 5:29
  months
• 5:29
  to
• 5:29
  two
• 5:29
  years
• 5:29
  and
• 5:30
  putting
• 5:30
  a
• 5:30
  new
• 5:31
  sealcoat
• 5:32
  on
• 5:32
  it.
• 5:32
  It
• 5:32
  just
• 5:32
  doesn't
• 5:33
  work
• 5:33
  that
• 5:33
  way.
• 5:34
  So
• 5:34
  the
• 5:34
  problem
• 5:35
  with
• 5:35
  marble
• 5:35
  as
• 5:36
  a
• 5:36
  countertop
• 5:36
  surface
• 5:37
  is
• 5:38
  maybe
• 5:38
  even
• 5:38
  the
• 5:38
  kids
• 5:39
  blue
• 5:39
  toothpaste
• 5:41
  that
• 5:41
  can
• 5:41
  soak
• 5:42
  into
• 5:42
  that.
• 5:42
  And
• 5:43
  now
• 5:43
  you've
• 5:43
  got
• 5:43
  a
• 5:44
  problem.
• 5:45
  So
• 5:45
  that's
• 5:45
  why
• 5:46
  a
• 5:46
  lot
• 5:46
  of
• 5:46
  people
• 5:47
  do
• 5:47
  not
• 5:47
  go
• 5:48
  with
• 5:48
  marble.
• 5:48
  Because
• 5:49
  we
• 5:50
  expect
• 5:50
  it
• 5:50
  here
• 5:51
  in
• 5:51
  the
• 5:51
  United
• 5:51
  States
• 5:52
  to
• 5:52
  look
• 5:53
  like
• 5:53
  the
• 5:53
  date
• 5:53
  was
• 5:54
  installed,
• 5:55
  which
• 5:55
  is
• 5:55
  not
• 5:55
  a
• 5:56
  realistic
• 5:57
  expectation
• 5:58
  for
• 5:58
  most
• 5:58
  people.
• 5:59
  You
• 5:59
  don't
• 6:00
  want
• 6:00
  to
• 6:00
  have
• 6:00
  to
• 6:00
  go
• 6:00
  through
• 6:01
  and
• 6:01
  worry
• 6:01
  about
• 6:02
  it
• 6:02
  and
• 6:03
  deal
• 6:03
  with
• 6:03
  it.
• 6:04
  So
• 6:04
  what
• 6:04
  are
• 6:04
  the
• 6:04
  alternatives?
• 6:06
  You're
• 6:06
  going
• 6:06
  to
• 6:06
  be
• 6:06
  looking
• 6:06
  at
• 6:07
  man
• 6:07
  made
• 6:08
  materials
• 6:09
  like
• 6:10
  quartz.
• 6:11
  Now
• 6:12
  quartz.
• 6:12
  There's
• 6:13
  a
• 6:13
  difference
• 6:13
  here.
• 6:13
  There's
• 6:14
  quartzite,
• 6:15
  which
• 6:15
  is
• 6:15
  a
• 6:15
  natural
• 6:16
  stone,
• 6:17
  and
• 6:17
  then
• 6:18
  there
• 6:18
  is
• 6:18
  the
• 6:18
  manufactured
• 6:20
  countertop
• 6:20
  material
• 6:22
  that
• 6:22
  is
• 6:22
  quartz.
• 6:23
  Now
• 6:23
  this
• 6:24
  is
• 6:24
  a
• 6:26
  mostly
• 6:26
  quartz
• 6:27
  material
• 6:27
  product.
• 6:29
  And
• 6:29
  then
• 6:29
  there
• 6:29
  are
• 6:29
  binders,
• 6:30
  there
• 6:31
  are
• 6:31
  epoxies,
• 6:32
  there
• 6:32
  are
• 6:33
  all
• 6:33
  these
• 6:33
  things
• 6:33
  that
• 6:33
  hold
• 6:34
  it
• 6:34
  together
• 6:35
  that
• 6:35
  really
• 6:35
  make
• 6:36
  it
• 6:36
  super
• 6:36
  stain
• 6:37
  resistant.
• 6:38
  That
• 6:38
  is
• 6:39
  a
• 6:39
  great
• 6:39
  way
• 6:39
  to
• 6:39
  go.
• 6:40
  Now
• 6:41
  one
• 6:41
  of
• 6:41
  the
• 6:41
  issues
• 6:42
  that
• 6:42
  we're
• 6:42
  having
• 6:42
  out
• 6:43
  there
• 6:44
  with
• 6:44
  countertops
• 6:45
  that
• 6:45
  are
• 6:45
  made
• 6:45
  from
• 6:45
  stone
• 6:46
  or
• 6:46
  man
• 6:46
  made
• 6:47
  materials
• 6:48
  is
• 6:49
  the
• 6:49
  silica
• 6:49
  dust
• 6:50
  issue.
• 6:50
  And
• 6:50
  why
• 6:51
  is
• 6:51
  this?
• 6:52
  The
• 6:52
  silica
• 6:53
  dust
• 6:53
  issue
• 6:54
  is
• 6:54
  where
• 6:54
  fabricators
• 6:56
  that
• 6:56
  have
• 6:56
  not
• 6:57
  been
• 6:57
  following
• 6:58
  the
• 6:58
  safety
• 6:58
  guidelines
• 6:59
  of
• 6:59
  the
• 6:59
  industry
• 7:00
  for
• 7:00
  years.
• 7:01
  These
• 7:02
  are
• 7:02
  the
• 7:02
  clowns
• 7:02
  that
• 7:03
  you
• 7:03
  see
• 7:03
  out
• 7:03
  there
• 7:04
  grinding
• 7:05
  and
• 7:05
  cutting
• 7:06
  out
• 7:06
  in
• 7:06
  the
• 7:07
  driveway,
• 7:08
  dry
• 7:08
  cutting,
• 7:09
  dust
• 7:10
  going
• 7:10
  everywhere.
• 7:11
  They
• 7:11
  got
• 7:12
  a
• 7:12
  bandana
• 7:12
  around
• 7:13
  their
• 7:13
  face
• 7:14
  and
• 7:14
  they're
• 7:15
  just
• 7:15
  taking
• 7:15
  in
• 7:16
  all
• 7:16
  this
• 7:16
  silica
• 7:17
  dust.
• 7:17
  Where
• 7:18
  many
• 7:18
  of
• 7:18
  the
• 7:19
  ones
• 7:19
  that
• 7:19
  have
• 7:19
  treated
• 7:20
  their
• 7:20
  employees
• 7:20
  much
• 7:21
  better,
• 7:22
  they're
• 7:22
  using
• 7:22
  a
• 7:23
  water
• 7:23
  based,
• 7:24
  so
• 7:25
  no
• 7:25
  dust
• 7:25
  or
• 7:26
  limited
• 7:26
  dust
• 7:27
  and
• 7:28
  they've
• 7:28
  got
• 7:28
  a
• 7:28
  respirator
• 7:29
  on
• 7:29
  and
• 7:29
  they're
• 7:29
  working
• 7:30
  safely.
• 7:32
  Because
• 7:32
  of
• 7:32
  these
• 7:32
  companies
• 7:33
  that
• 7:34
  are
• 7:34
  not
• 7:34
  holding
• 7:34
  their
• 7:35
  employees
• 7:35
  accountable,
• 7:36
  that
• 7:36
  aren't
• 7:36
  teaching
• 7:37
  them
• 7:37
  the
• 7:37
  best
• 7:37
  practices.
• 7:38
  There's
• 7:39
  a
• 7:39
  huge
• 7:39
  issue,
• 7:40
  especially
• 7:40
  in
• 7:40
  California
• 7:41
  and
• 7:41
  other
• 7:41
  places
• 7:42
  where
• 7:42
  they're
• 7:43
  just
• 7:43
  saying,
• 7:43
  hey,
• 7:43
  it's
• 7:44
  not
• 7:44
  worth
• 7:45
  dealing
• 7:45
  with
• 7:45
  the
• 7:45
  employees
• 7:46
  getting
• 7:47
  sick,
• 7:48
  even
• 7:48
  though
• 7:49
  that
• 7:49
  there
• 7:49
  are
• 7:49
  best
• 7:49
  practices
• 7:50
  to
• 7:50
  follow
• 7:50
  where
• 7:51
  they
• 7:51
  won't
• 7:51
  get
• 7:51
  sick.
• 7:52
  So
• 7:53
  we're
• 7:53
  having
• 7:53
  this
• 7:53
  whole
• 7:54
  issue
• 7:55
  with
• 7:55
  that.
• 7:56
  So
• 7:56
  we're
• 7:56
  gonna
• 7:57
  see
• 7:57
  probably
• 7:57
  quartz
• 7:58
  companies,
• 7:59
  even
• 7:59
  some
• 7:59
  granite
• 8:00
  stuff
• 8:00
  probably
• 8:01
  not
• 8:01
  come
• 8:01
  out.
• 8:01
  Anything
• 8:02
  with
• 8:02
  a
• 8:02
  high
• 8:02
  silica
• 8:03
  content
• 8:03
  is
• 8:04
  going
• 8:04
  to
• 8:04
  be
• 8:04
  an
• 8:04
  issue.
• 8:05
  Now
• 8:05
  what
• 8:06
  some
• 8:06
  companies
• 8:06
  are
• 8:07
  going
• 8:07
  with
• 8:07
  is
• 8:07
  they're
• 8:07
  going
• 8:08
  with
• 8:08
  a
• 8:08
  no
• 8:08
  silica
• 8:09
  dust
• 8:09
  type
• 8:09
  formula
• 8:10
  or
• 8:11
  they're
• 8:12
  going
• 8:12
  into
• 8:12
  the
• 8:12
  sintered
• 8:13
  stone
• 8:13
  like
• 8:13
  the
• 8:14
  porcelain,
• 8:14
  which
• 8:14
  is
• 8:15
  more
• 8:15
  of
• 8:15
  a
• 8:16
  clay
• 8:16
  type
• 8:16
  product
• 8:17
  if
• 8:17
  you
• 8:17
  think
• 8:17
  about
• 8:17
  it.
• 8:18
  So
• 8:18
  they
• 8:19
  take
• 8:19
  a
• 8:19
  sintered
• 8:20
  stone.
• 8:20
  So
• 8:20
  it's
• 8:21
  not
• 8:21
  really
• 8:21
  a
• 8:21
  tile
• 8:22
  and
• 8:23
  it's
• 8:23
  not
• 8:23
  really
• 8:23
  that
• 8:24
  brown
• 8:24
  clay
• 8:24
  that
• 8:25
  you
• 8:25
  would
• 8:25
  think
• 8:25
  with
• 8:25
  a
• 8:25
  tile.
• 8:26
  But
• 8:26
  the
• 8:26
  porcelain,
• 8:27
  they
• 8:27
  take
• 8:27
  all
• 8:28
  these
• 8:28
  materials.
• 8:30
  Think
• 8:30
  of
• 8:30
  it
• 8:30
  as
• 8:30
  like
• 8:30
  tile
• 8:31
  though,
• 8:31
  a
• 8:31
  big
• 8:32
  4
• 8:32
  by
• 8:32
  10
• 8:32
  piece
• 8:33
  of
• 8:33
  or
• 8:33
  5
• 8:33
  by
• 8:34
  10
• 8:34
  piece
• 8:34
  of
• 8:35
  tile.
• 8:36
  This
• 8:36
  is
• 8:37
  sintered
• 8:38
  stone.
• 8:38
  So
• 8:38
  they
• 8:39
  take
• 8:39
  it
• 8:39
  heat
• 8:40
  compression
• 8:41
  and
• 8:41
  they
• 8:41
  make
• 8:42
  a
• 8:42
  super
• 8:42
  durable
• 8:43
  surface.
• 8:44
  Now
• 8:44
  we'll
• 8:45
  talk
• 8:45
  about
• 8:45
  the
• 8:45
  applications
• 8:46
  of
• 8:46
  this,
• 8:47
  but
• 8:47
  I've
• 8:47
  had
• 8:48
  that
• 8:48
  in
• 8:48
  my
• 8:48
  house.
• 8:49
  It
• 8:49
  is
• 8:50
  durable,
• 8:51
  it
• 8:51
  is
• 8:52
  bulletproof.
• 8:54
  I've
• 8:54
  had
• 8:54
  it
• 8:54
  on
• 8:54
  my
• 8:54
  outdoor
• 8:55
  kitchen
• 8:55
  before
• 8:55
  I
• 8:55
  built
• 8:56
  the
• 8:56
  COVID
• 8:57
  I
• 8:57
  had
• 8:57
  2
• 8:58
  inches
• 8:58
  of
• 8:58
  freezing
• 8:59
  rain
• 8:59
  on
• 8:59
  it.
• 9:00
  I've
• 9:00
  had
• 9:00
  it
• 9:01
  117
• 9:02
  degrees
• 9:02
  in
• 9:02
  the
• 9:02
  sun.
• 9:03
  It
• 9:04
  just
• 9:04
  takes
• 9:04
  it.
• 9:05
  Now
• 9:05
  if
• 9:05
  I
• 9:05
  was
• 9:06
  going
• 9:06
  to
• 9:06
  do
• 9:06
  that
• 9:06
  outside
• 9:06
  with
• 9:06
  quartz,
• 9:07
  we'd
• 9:07
  have
• 9:07
  some
• 9:08
  serious
• 9:08
  issues
• 9:08
  because
• 9:09
  the
• 9:09
  binders
• 9:10
  in
• 9:10
  it
• 9:10
  are
• 9:10
  not
• 9:11
  UV
• 9:11
  friendly.
• 9:12
  So
• 9:13
  the
• 9:13
  sunlight
• 9:13
  in
• 9:14
  an
• 9:14
  outdoor
• 9:14
  kitchen
• 9:15
  is
• 9:15
  going
• 9:15
  to
• 9:15
  be
• 9:15
  an
• 9:16
  issue.
• 9:17
  So
• 9:17
  that's
• 9:17
  one
• 9:17
  of
• 9:17
  the
• 9:17
  things
• 9:18
  you
• 9:18
  need
• 9:18
  to
• 9:18
  think
• 9:18
  about
• 9:19
  when
• 9:19
  you're
• 9:20
  starting
• 9:20
  to
• 9:20
  tackle
• 9:21
  of
• 9:21
  what
• 9:21
  countertop
• 9:22
  material
• 9:22
  do
• 9:22
  I
• 9:23
  want
• 9:23
  to
• 9:23
  use
• 9:24
  now?
• 9:24
  When
• 9:24
  we
• 9:24
  come
• 9:24
  back
• 9:25
  here
• 9:25
  in
• 9:25
  a
• 9:25
  minute,
• 9:25
  I
• 9:25
  want
• 9:26
  to
• 9:26
  talk
• 9:26
  about
• 9:27
  a
• 9:27
  room
• 9:27
  by
• 9:28
  room.
• 9:28
  What
• 9:28
  is
• 9:28
  the
• 9:28
  best
• 9:29
  use
• 9:29
  of
• 9:29
  that?
• 9:29
  So
• 9:30
  we're
• 9:30
  going
• 9:30
  to
• 9:30
  start
• 9:30
  out
• 9:30
  with
• 9:30
  bathrooms
• 9:31
  here
• 9:31
  and
• 9:32
  we're
• 9:32
  going
• 9:32
  to
• 9:32
  talk
• 9:32
  about
• 9:32
  my
• 9:33
  favorite
• 9:33
  materials
• 9:33
  to
• 9:34
  use
• 9:34
  as
• 9:34
  a
• 9:34
  countertop
• 9:34
  and
• 9:35
  a
• 9:35
  bathroom,
• 9:36
  whether
• 9:36
  you're
• 9:36
  on
• 9:36
  a
• 9:36
  budget,
• 9:38
  whether
• 9:38
  you
• 9:38
  want
• 9:38
  to
• 9:38
  do
• 9:39
  this
• 9:39
  right
• 9:39
  and
• 9:40
  really
• 9:40
  dive
• 9:41
  into
• 9:41
  something
• 9:41
  that's
• 9:41
  going
• 9:41
  to
• 9:41
  be
• 9:42
  gorgeous.
• 9:43
  But
• 9:43
  doing
• 9:43
  it
• 9:44
  this
• 9:44
  way
• 9:44
  is
• 9:44
  really
• 9:44
  one
• 9:45
  of
• 9:45
  those
• 9:45
  things
• 9:45
  that
• 9:46
  thinking
• 9:46
  about
• 9:46
  it
• 9:47
  room
• 9:47
  by
• 9:47
  room
• 9:47
  and
• 9:48
  application
• 9:48
  by
• 9:48
  application
• 9:50
  is
• 9:50
  pretty
• 9:50
  smart
• 9:50
  because
• 9:51
  there's
• 9:51
  a
• 9:51
  lot
• 9:51
  of
• 9:51
  materials
• 9:52
  we're
• 9:52
  going
• 9:52
  to
• 9:52
  talk
• 9:52
  about
• 9:52
  today
• 9:53
  that
• 9:53
  you're
• 9:53
  not
• 9:53
  going
• 9:54
  to
• 9:54
  even
• 9:54
  see
• 9:54
  in
• 9:54
  the
• 9:54
  home
• 9:55
  center.
• 9:55
  But
• 9:56
  it's
• 9:56
  a
• 9:56
  great
• 9:56
  way
• 9:57
  to
• 9:57
  use
• 9:58
  a
• 9:58
  material
• 9:58
  that
• 9:58
  might
• 9:59
  be
• 10:00
  something
• 10:00
  that
• 10:00
  you
• 10:00
  could
• 10:00
  tackle
• 10:01
  as
• 10:01
  a
• 10:01
  DIY
• 10:02
  project.
• 10:02
  And
• 10:02
  I'm
• 10:03
  not
• 10:03
  just
• 10:03
  talking
• 10:03
  the
• 10:04
  IKEA
• 10:04
  butcher
• 10:04
  block
• 10:05
  stuff.
• 10:05
  We're
• 10:05
  talking
• 10:05
  about
• 10:05
  some
• 10:06
  stuff
• 10:06
  that'll
• 10:06
  hold
• 10:06
  up
• 10:06
  to
• 10:07
  weather,
• 10:08
  water
• 10:09
  and
• 10:10
  all
• 10:10
  those
• 10:10
  other
• 10:11
  things.
• 10:11
  So
• 10:12
  we'll
• 10:12
  do
• 10:12
  that
• 10:12
  just
• 10:13
  as
• 10:13
  soon
• 10:13
  as
• 10:13
  around
• 10:13
  the
• 10:14
  House
• 10:14
  returns.
• 10:14
  Don't
• 10:15
  change
• 10:15
  that
• 10:15
  dial.
• 10:16
  We
• 10:16
  got
• 10:16
  more
• 10:16
  about
• 10:17
  countertops
• 10:18
  and
• 10:18
  what's
• 10:18
  the
• 10:18
  right
• 10:19
  product,
• 10:20
  the
• 10:20
  right
• 10:20
  budget
• 10:21
  and
• 10:22
  the
• 10:22
  right
• 10:22
  durability
• 10:23
  for
• 10:24
  your
• 10:24

• 10:25
  kitchen,
• 10:26

• 10:26

• 10:27
  or
• 10:27
  anything
• 10:27
  in
• 10:28
  between.
• 10:28
  We'll
• 10:28
  be
• 10:28
  right
• 10:29
  back.
• 10:29
  To
• 10:30
  find
• 10:30
  out
• 10:30
  more
• 10:30
  information,
• 10:31
  head
• 10:31
  to
• 10:31

• 10:32

• 10:33
  don't
• 10:34

• 10:34
  that
• 10:34
  dial
• 10:35
  around
• 10:35
  the

• 10:36
  We'll
• 10:36
  be

• 10:36

• 10:37
  after
• 10:37
  these
• 10:37

• 12:07
  So
• 12:09
  many
• 12:09
  people
• 10:45
  without

  I'm

• 12:39
  Man,
• 12:39
  I
• 12:39
  love
• 12:39
  cooking
• 12:40
  on
• 12:40
  this
• 12:40
  thing.
• 12:40
  Lots
• 12:41
  of
• 12:41
  power,
• 12:42
  lots
• 12:42
  of
• 12:42
  technology
• 12:43
  and
• 12:44
  makes
• 12:44
  it
• 12:45
  easy
• 12:45
  to
• 12:45
  cook
• 12:45
  on,
• 12:45
  no
• 12:46
  matter
• 12:46
  if
• 12:46
  you're
• 12:46
  cooking
• 12:46
  pancakes
• 12:47
  on
• 12:47
  their
• 12:47
  griddle
• 12:48
  or
• 12:49
  if
• 12:49
  you're
• 12:49
  throwing
• 12:49
  on
• 12:50
  that
• 12:50
  big

  stake.
• 12:51
  They
• 12:51
  got
• 12:51
  you
• 12:51
  covered
• 12:52
  either
• 12:52
  way.
• 12:53
  We've
• 12:53
  been
• 12:53
  talking
• 12:53
  about
• 12:53
  countertops.
• 12:54
  In
• 12:54
  this
• 12:54
  last
• 12:55
  segment,
• 12:55
  we
• 12:55
  were
• 12:55
  talking
• 12:55
  about
• 12:56
  kind
• 12:56
  of
• 12:56
  Generally,
• 12:57
  some
• 12:57
  of
• 12:57
  the
• 12:57
  things
• 12:57
  to
• 12:57
  think
• 12:58
  about.
• 12:58
  And
• 12:59
  now
• 12:59
  I
• 12:59
  want
• 12:59
  to
• 12:59
  go
• 13:00
  in
• 13:00
  room
• 13:00
  by
• 13:00
  room
• 13:01
  and
• 13:01
  try
• 13:01
  to
• 13:01
  help
• 13:01
  walk
• 13:02
  you
• 13:02
  through
• 13:03
  the
• 13:03
  right
• 13:03
  place
• 13:03
  to
• 13:04
  use
• 13:04
  the
• 13:04
  right
• 13:04
  materials.
• 13:05
  So
• 13:05
  when
• 13:06
  it
• 13:06
  comes
• 13:06
  to
• 13:06
  a
• 13:06
  bathroom,
• 13:07
  this
• 13:07
  is
• 13:08
  something
• 13:08
  that
• 13:08
  you
• 13:08
  should
• 13:08
  really
• 13:09
  spend
• 13:09
  some
• 13:09
  time
• 13:10
  on.
• 13:10
  The
• 13:11
  things
• 13:11
  that
• 13:11
  we
• 13:11
  have
• 13:12
  are
• 13:12
  chemicals
• 13:12
  from
• 13:13
  all
• 13:14
  of
• 13:14
  the
• 13:14
  things
• 13:14
  that
• 13:15
  we
• 13:15
  put
• 13:15
  on
• 13:15
  our
• 13:15
  face
• 13:16
  and
• 13:16
  our
• 13:16
  hair
• 13:16
  and
• 13:17
  our
• 13:17
  teeth,
• 13:18
  you
• 13:18
  know,
• 13:18
  from
• 13:19
  the
• 13:19
  dyes
• 13:20
  that
• 13:20
  are
• 13:20
  in
• 13:21
  the
• 13:21
  blue
• 13:22
  toothpaste
• 13:22
  for
• 13:23
  the
• 13:23
  kids
• 13:23
  or
• 13:23
  the
• 13:23
  red
• 13:24
  or
• 13:24
  whatever
• 13:25
  else
• 13:25
  we
• 13:25
  have
• 13:25
  or
• 13:26
  all
• 13:26
  the
• 13:26
  makeups
• 13:26
  and
• 13:26
  things
• 13:27
  like
• 13:27
  that.
• 13:27
  You
• 13:27
  want
• 13:28
  something
• 13:28
  durable.
• 13:29
  Now,
• 13:30
  marble
• 13:30
  looks
• 13:30
  gorgeous,
• 13:31
  but
• 13:31
  you
• 13:31
  got
• 13:31
  to
• 13:31
  be
• 13:31
  really
• 13:32
  careful
• 13:32
  and
• 13:32
  really
• 13:33
  stay
• 13:33
  on
• 13:33
  top
• 13:33
  of
• 13:33
  sealing
• 13:34
  it.
• 13:34
  But
• 13:35
  if
• 13:35
  you've
• 13:35
  got
• 13:35
  kids,
• 13:36
  it's
• 13:36
  probably
• 13:36
  not
• 13:36
  the
• 13:37
  best
• 13:37
  thing
• 13:38
  to
• 13:38
  use.
• 13:39
  Now,
• 13:39
  the
• 13:40
  other
• 13:40
  thing
• 13:40
  I
• 13:40
  want
• 13:40
  you
• 13:40
  to
• 13:41
  think
• 13:41
  about
• 13:42
  is,
• 13:42
  in
• 13:42
  a
• 13:42
  bathroom,
• 13:43
  you
• 13:43
  don't
• 13:43
  only
• 13:44
  just
• 13:44
  have
• 13:44
  the
• 13:44
  countertop.
• 13:46
  Maybe
• 13:46
  you're
• 13:47
  gonna
• 13:47
  clad
• 13:48
  the
• 13:48
  wall.
• 13:48
  That's
• 13:48
  what
• 13:48
  I
• 13:49
  did,
• 13:49
  And
• 13:50
  I
• 13:50
  went
• 13:50
  with
• 13:50
  the
• 13:50
  most
• 13:50
  durable
• 13:51
  in
• 13:51
  there.
• 13:52
  Now,
• 13:52
  here's
• 13:53
  the
• 13:53
  choices
• 13:53
  you
• 13:53
  have.
• 13:54
  You
• 13:54
  have
• 13:55
  marble.
• 13:56
  You
• 13:56
  have
• 13:56
  granite.
• 13:57
  Those
• 13:57
  are
• 13:57
  slab
• 13:58
  materials.
• 13:59
  So
• 13:59
  traditionally,
• 14:00
  you're
• 14:00
  gonna
• 14:00
  go
• 14:00
  to
• 14:00
  your
• 14:01
  fabricator
• 14:01
  or
• 14:01
  your
• 14:02
  designer,
• 14:02
  your
• 14:03
  home
• 14:03
  improvement
• 14:03
  store,
• 14:04
  and
• 14:04
  you're
• 14:05
  gonna
• 14:05
  turn
• 14:05
  around
• 14:05
  and
• 14:06
  go
• 14:06
  grab
• 14:07
  that
• 14:07
  from
• 14:08
  them.
• 14:08
  They're
• 14:08
  gonna
• 14:08
  come
• 14:08
  out
• 14:08
  and
• 14:09
  template
• 14:09
  it
• 14:09
  and
• 14:09
  make
• 14:09
  it.
• 14:10
  Now,
• 14:10
  there's
• 14:10
  a
• 14:11
  lot
• 14:11
  of
• 14:11
  materials
• 14:11
  you
• 14:11
  can
• 14:12
  use
• 14:12
  inside
• 14:13
  that
• 14:13
  bathroom.
• 14:14
  For
• 14:14
  me,
• 14:15
  I
• 14:15
  decided
• 14:15
  to
• 14:16
  go
• 14:16
  with
• 14:16
  the
• 14:16
  slab
• 14:17
  porcelain
• 14:17
  because
• 14:18
  I
• 14:18
  could
• 14:18
  get
• 14:18
  it
• 14:18
  in
• 14:18
  thinner
• 14:19
  sections.
• 14:20
  I
• 14:20
  could
• 14:21
  do
• 14:21
  a
• 14:21
  mitered
• 14:22
  edge
• 14:22
  on
• 14:22
  my
• 14:22
  countertop
• 14:23
  to
• 14:23
  make
• 14:23
  it
• 14:23
  look
• 14:23
  like
• 14:24
  it's
• 14:24
  three
• 14:24
  inches
• 14:24
  thick,
• 14:25
  and
• 14:26
  I
• 14:26
  could
• 14:26
  use
• 14:26
  it
• 14:27
  for
• 14:27
  my
• 14:27
  big
• 14:27
  slab
• 14:28
  pieces
• 14:28
  in
• 14:29
  the
• 14:29
  shower
• 14:29
  system.
• 14:30
  Because
• 14:30
  I
• 14:30
  was
• 14:30
  doing
• 14:30
  a
• 14:30
  steam
• 14:31
  shower,
• 14:31
  I
• 14:32
  went
• 14:32
  that
• 14:32
  direction,
• 14:33
  because
• 14:34
  with
• 14:34
  a
• 14:34
  steam
• 14:34
  shower,
• 14:35
  not
• 14:35
  only
• 14:36
  do
• 14:36
  you
• 14:36
  have
• 14:36
  to
• 14:36
  do
• 14:36
  the
• 14:36
  walls,
• 14:37
  you
• 14:37
  got
• 14:37
  to
• 14:37
  do
• 14:38
  the
• 14:38
  ceiling,
• 14:38
  too,
• 14:39
  and
• 14:40
  have
• 14:40
  a
• 14:40
  little
• 14:40
  bit
• 14:40
  of
• 14:40
  a
• 14:40
  slope
• 14:41
  to
• 14:41
  it
• 14:41
  so
• 14:41
  it's
• 14:41
  not
• 14:42
  raining
• 14:42
  when
• 14:43
  the
• 14:43
  steam
• 14:43
  hits
• 14:43
  the
• 14:44
  cold
• 14:44
  ceiling
• 14:45
  pan.
• 14:46
  So
• 14:46
  what
• 14:46
  you
• 14:46
  have
• 14:47
  to
• 14:47
  do
• 14:47
  is
• 14:47
  design
• 14:47
  that
• 14:48
  whole
• 14:48
  system
• 14:48
  out.
• 14:49
  Now,
• 14:49
  I
• 14:49
  went
• 14:50
  one
• 14:50
  step
• 14:51
  further.
• 14:52
  I
• 14:53
  actually
• 14:53
  took
• 14:53
  it
• 14:54
  and
• 14:54
  went
• 14:54
  even
• 14:55
  deeper.
• 14:55
  I
• 14:56
  wanted
• 14:56
  to
• 14:56
  green
• 14:57
  match
• 14:57
  it.
• 14:58
  I
• 14:58
  wanted
• 14:58
  to
• 14:58
  book
• 14:58
  match
• 14:59
  it.
• 14:59
  I
• 15:00
  wanted
• 15:00
  to
• 15:00
  sit
• 15:01
  there
• 15:01
  and
• 15:01
  have
• 15:01
  that
• 15:02
  shower
• 15:02
  system
• 15:02
  look
• 15:03
  awesome.
• 15:04
  So
• 15:04
  what
• 15:04
  did
• 15:04
  I
• 15:04
  do?
• 15:05
  So
• 15:05
  I've
• 15:05
  got
• 15:06
  my
• 15:06
  shower
• 15:07
  system
• 15:07
  in
• 15:08
  there.
• 15:08
  I
• 15:09
  actually
• 15:09
  went
• 15:09
  through
• 15:10
  and
• 15:10
  put
• 15:10
  the
• 15:10
  the
• 15:11
  WEDI
• 15:11
  system
• 15:11
  in
• 15:12
  there,
• 15:13
  so
• 15:13
  the
• 15:13
  Vapor
• 15:13
  85,
• 15:14
  so
• 15:14
  I
• 15:14
  wouldn't
• 15:15
  get
• 15:15
  any
• 15:15
  steam
• 15:16
  or
• 15:17
  moisture
• 15:17
  coming
• 15:18
  through.
• 15:18
  Because
• 15:18
  that's
• 15:19
  the
• 15:19
  one
• 15:19
  thing
• 15:19
  when
• 15:19
  you're
• 15:19
  designing
• 15:20
  the
• 15:20
  steam
• 15:20
  shower,
• 15:20
  you
• 15:21
  gotta
• 15:21
  really
• 15:21
  think
• 15:21
  ahead
• 15:22
  of
• 15:22
  what
• 15:22
  you're
• 15:23
  doing,
• 15:24
  because
• 15:24
  many
• 15:25
  of
• 15:25
  the
• 15:25
  waterproofing
• 15:25
  membrane
• 15:26
  Systems
• 15:26
  out
• 15:26
  there
• 15:27
  aren't
• 15:27
  rated
• 15:27
  for
• 15:27
  steam,
• 15:28
  they're
• 15:29
  not
• 15:29
  rated
• 15:29
  for
• 15:29
  vapor,
• 15:30
  they're
• 15:30
  for
• 15:30
  water.
• 15:31
  So
• 15:32
  in
• 15:32
  something
• 15:32
  like
• 15:32
  that,
• 15:33
  you
• 15:33
  really
• 15:33
  want
• 15:33
  to
• 15:33
  have
• 15:33
  that
• 15:34
  dialed
• 15:34
  in.
• 15:35
  So
• 15:35
  I
• 15:35
  did
• 15:35
  the
• 15:35
  Vapor
• 15:35
  85
• 15:36
  system
• 15:37
  and
• 15:37
  then
• 15:37
  I
• 15:37
  did
• 15:37
  the
• 15:37
  slab
• 15:38
  porcelain.
• 15:38
  So
• 15:39
  the
• 15:39
  back
• 15:39
  wall
• 15:39
  of
• 15:40
  my
• 15:40
  shower,
• 15:41
  I
• 15:41
  book
• 15:42
  matched
• 15:42
  the
• 15:42
  ends.
• 15:43
  So
• 15:43
  now
• 15:44
  the
• 15:44
  end
• 15:45
  walls
• 15:45
  of
• 15:45
  the
• 15:45
  shower.
• 15:46
  So
• 15:46
  the
• 15:46
  back
• 15:46
  wall,
• 15:47
  it's
• 15:47
  wider
• 15:47
  than
• 15:48
  it
• 15:48
  is
• 15:48
  deep.
• 15:48
  Think
• 15:49
  about
• 15:49
  it.
• 15:49
  We
• 15:49
  used
• 15:49
  to
• 15:49
  be
• 15:49
  a
• 15:49
  bathtub
• 15:50
  in
• 15:50
  there.
• 15:51
  So
• 15:51
  that
• 15:51
  back
• 15:51
  panel
• 15:52
  is
• 15:52
  one
• 15:52
  piece.
• 15:53
  I
• 15:53
  did
• 15:53
  a
• 15:54
  niche
• 15:55
  recessed
• 15:55
  into
• 15:55
  the
• 15:55
  wall,
• 15:56
  had
• 15:57
  that
• 15:57
  in
• 15:57
  there.
• 15:57
  And
• 15:57
  then
• 15:58
  the
• 15:58
  green
• 15:58
  matches
• 15:59
  off
• 15:59
  to
• 15:59
  the
• 15:59
  side
• 16:00
  and
• 16:00
  it
• 16:00
  also
• 16:01
  carries
• 16:01
  out
• 16:02
  over
• 16:02
  the
• 16:02
  top.
• 16:04
  So
• 16:04
  the
• 16:04
  green
• 16:05
  looks
• 16:05
  like
• 16:05
  it
• 16:05
  came
• 16:05
  out
• 16:06
  of
• 16:06
  one
• 16:06
  big
• 16:07
  sheet.
• 16:07
  And
• 16:08
  it
• 16:08
  did
• 16:09
  turned
• 16:09
  out
• 16:09
  really
• 16:09
  cool
• 16:10
  the
• 16:11
  way
• 16:11
  we
• 16:11
  did
• 16:11
  it.
• 16:11
  Actually
• 16:11
  that
• 16:12
  was
• 16:12
  a
• 16:12
  two
• 16:12
  sheet
• 16:12
  thing
• 16:13
  because
• 16:13
  I
• 16:13
  had
• 16:13
  to
• 16:13
  come
• 16:13
  up
• 16:13
  with
• 16:13
  a
• 16:13
  grain
• 16:14
  matched
• 16:15
  in
• 16:15
  the
• 16:15
  porcelain.
• 16:16
  So
• 16:16
  I
• 16:16
  came
• 16:16
  up
• 16:16
  with
• 16:17
  two
• 16:17
  book
• 16:17
  matched
• 16:17
  pieces
• 16:18
  and
• 16:18
  did
• 16:18
  it
• 16:18
  that
• 16:18
  way.
• 16:19
  Turned
• 16:19
  out
• 16:19
  really
• 16:19
  awesome.
• 16:21
  So
• 16:21
  that's
• 16:21
  what
• 16:21
  we
• 16:21
  did
• 16:22
  there.
• 16:22
  And
• 16:23
  then
• 16:23
  I
• 16:23
  used
• 16:23
  that
• 16:23
  same
• 16:24
  material
• 16:25
  for
• 16:25
  the
• 16:25
  countertops
• 16:26
  for
• 16:26
  the
• 16:26
  two
• 16:26
  floating
• 16:27
  vanities
• 16:27
  that
• 16:27
  I
• 16:28
  had
• 16:28
  in
• 16:28
  that
• 16:28
  room.
• 16:29
  Now
• 16:29
  you
• 16:29
  can
• 16:30
  do
• 16:30
  tile.
• 16:30
  If
• 16:30
  you
• 16:31
  want
• 16:31
  to
• 16:31
  do
• 16:31
  it
• 16:31
  as
• 16:31
  a
• 16:31
  DIY
• 16:32
  project,
• 16:33
  you
• 16:34
  can
• 16:34
  do
• 16:34
  it
• 16:34
  as
• 16:34
  a
• 16:34
  large
• 16:35
  format
• 16:35
  piece
• 16:35
  of
• 16:36
  tile.
• 16:36
  You
• 16:37
  can
• 16:37
  do
• 16:37
  it,
• 16:37
  you
• 16:38
  know,
• 16:38
  of
• 16:38
  course,
• 16:38
  out
• 16:38
  of
• 16:38
  the
• 16:39
  the
• 16:39
  slab
• 16:39
  core
• 16:39
  to
• 16:40
  the
• 16:40
  slab
• 16:40
  granite.
• 16:41
  You
• 16:41
  can
• 16:41
  do
• 16:42
  it
• 16:42
  out
• 16:42
  of
• 16:42
  wood.
• 16:43
  Not
• 16:44
  my
• 16:44
  recommendation.
• 16:45
  It
• 16:45
  doesn't
• 16:45
  hold
• 16:46
  up
• 16:46
  well
• 16:46
  unless
• 16:47
  you're
• 16:47
  doing
• 16:47
  something
• 16:47
  like
• 16:48
  teak
• 16:48
  or
• 16:48
  something
• 16:48
  that's
• 16:49
  meant
• 16:49
  for
• 16:49
  that,
• 16:49
  which
• 16:50
  is
• 16:50
  very
• 16:50
  expensive.
• 16:52
  Now
• 16:52
  there
• 16:52
  are
• 16:52
  other
• 16:52
  materials
• 16:53
  that
• 16:53
  I've
• 16:53
  used
• 16:54
  out
• 16:54
  there
• 16:55
  like
• 16:55
  paper
• 16:56
  stone.
• 16:57
  What
• 16:57
  is
• 16:58
  paper
• 16:58
  stone?
• 16:58
  It
• 16:58
  is
• 16:59
  a
• 16:59
  paper
• 16:59
  and
• 17:00
  resin
• 17:00
  composite.
• 17:02
  So
• 17:02
  what
• 17:02
  they
• 17:02
  do
• 17:02
  is
• 17:03
  they
• 17:03
  take
• 17:03
  recycled
• 17:05
  paper
• 17:05
  pulp
• 17:06
  in
• 17:06
  many
• 17:06
  cases.
• 17:07
  So
• 17:08
  what
• 17:08
  you'd
• 17:08
  see
• 17:08
  them
• 17:09
  making
• 17:09
  cardboard
• 17:10
  boxes
• 17:10
  out
• 17:11
  of
• 17:11
  it
• 17:11
  or
• 17:11
  whatever
• 17:12
  else,
• 17:12
  that
• 17:12
  kind
• 17:12
  of
• 17:13
  pulp.
• 17:14
  Then
• 17:15
  they
• 17:15
  mix
• 17:15
  in
• 17:15
  all
• 17:16
  these
• 17:16
  binders
• 17:17
  and
• 17:18
  it
• 17:18
  works
• 17:18
  really
• 17:19
  well.
• 17:20
  So
• 17:21
  it
• 17:21
  is
• 17:21
  a
• 17:22
  high
• 17:22
  performance
• 17:23
  composite
• 17:23
  surface.
• 17:24
  And
• 17:25
  it
• 17:25
  is
• 17:26
  so
• 17:26
  cool
• 17:26
  because
• 17:26
  you
• 17:26
  can
• 17:27
  cut
• 17:27
  it
• 17:28
  like
• 17:28
  you
• 17:28
  would
• 17:28
  wood
• 17:29
  and
• 17:30
  it
• 17:30
  has
• 17:30
  its
• 17:30
  own
• 17:30
  kind
• 17:30
  of
• 17:31
  patina
• 17:32
  and
• 17:32
  it
• 17:32
  looks
• 17:33
  absolutely
• 17:34
  gorgeous.
• 17:35
  Now
• 17:36
  here
• 17:36
  are
• 17:36
  some
• 17:37
  things
• 17:37
  you
• 17:37
  can
• 17:37
  do
• 17:37
  with
• 17:37
  this.
• 17:38
  This
• 17:38
  was
• 17:39
  originally
• 17:40
  designed
• 17:41
  as
• 17:41
  a
• 17:42
  boat
• 17:42
  bulkhead
• 17:43
  and
• 17:44
  then
• 17:44
  it
• 17:44
  got
• 17:44
  used
• 17:44
  in
• 17:45
  the
• 17:45
  skateboard
• 17:46
  industry
• 17:46
  for
• 17:46
  skate
• 17:47
  ramps.
• 17:48
  So
• 17:48
  yes,
• 17:49
  there's
• 17:49
  a
• 17:50
  lot
• 17:50
  you
• 17:50
  can
• 17:50
  do
• 17:50
  with
• 17:51
  this.
• 17:51
  There
• 17:52
  are
• 17:52
  endless
• 17:53
  applications
• 17:53
  for
• 17:54
  it.
• 17:55
  You
• 17:55
  can
• 17:55
  use
• 17:55
  it
• 17:55
  for
• 17:55
  exterior
• 17:56
  cladding
• 17:57
  on
• 17:57
  the
• 17:57
  outside
• 17:57
  of
• 17:58
  a
• 17:58
  building.
• 17:59
  You
• 17:59
  could
• 17:59
  do
• 17:59
  a
• 17:59
  kitchen
• 18:00
  countertop
• 18:00
  with
• 18:02
  is
• 18:02
  super
• 18:02
  durable.
• 18:03
  Now
• 18:03
  the
• 18:03
  one
• 18:03
  thing
• 18:03
  that's
• 18:04
  interesting
• 18:04
  is
• 18:04
  if
• 18:04
  you
• 18:05
  leave
• 18:06
  water
• 18:06
  on
• 18:06
  it
• 18:07
  on
• 18:07
  a
• 18:07
  flat
• 18:08
  surface.
• 18:08
  Yes,
• 18:08
  it
• 18:09
  Will
• 18:09
  raise
• 18:09
  up
• 18:09
  and
• 18:09
  you'll
• 18:10
  go,
• 18:10
  oh,
• 18:10
  my
• 18:10
  gosh,
• 18:10
  I
• 18:11
  ruined
• 18:11
  my
• 18:11
  countertop
• 18:12
  surface.
• 18:12
  No,
• 18:12
  you
• 18:12
  did
• 18:12
  not.
• 18:13
  It
• 18:13
  will
• 18:14
  dry
• 18:14
  back
• 18:14
  out
• 18:15
  and
• 18:15
  heal
• 18:15
  itself
• 18:15
  back
• 18:16
  down
• 18:16
  and
• 18:16
  you'll
• 18:16
  be
• 18:16
  fine.
• 18:17
  But
• 18:17
  paper
• 18:18
  stone
• 18:18
  is
• 18:18
  a
• 18:18
  great
• 18:19
  product.
• 18:19
  Take
• 18:19
  a
• 18:19
  look@paperstone
• 18:20
  products.com
• 18:21
  for
• 18:21
  those
• 18:21
  guys.
• 18:22
  It
• 18:22
  is
• 18:23
  an
• 18:23
  interesting
• 18:23
  one.
• 18:23
  They're
• 18:24
  a
• 18:24
  Pacific
• 18:24
  Northwest
• 18:24
  company.
• 18:25
  I've
• 18:26
  used
• 18:26
  them
• 18:26
  for
• 18:26
  years.
• 18:27
  I
• 18:27
  did
• 18:27
  my
• 18:27
  working
• 18:28
  surface
• 18:28
  of
• 18:28
  my
• 18:28
  outdoor
• 18:29
  kitchen
• 18:29
  with
• 18:29
  this
• 18:29
  stuff.
• 18:30
  Freaking
• 18:31
  awesome.
• 18:32
  Loved
• 18:32
  it.
• 18:33
  Great
• 18:34
  material
• 18:34
  to
• 18:35
  work
• 18:35
  with.
• 18:36
  So
• 18:36
  don't
• 18:36
  be
• 18:36
  scared
• 18:37
  about
• 18:37
  some
• 18:37
  of
• 18:37
  these
• 18:37
  other
• 18:38
  materials.
• 18:38
  Yeah,
• 18:38
  you're
• 18:38
  gonna
• 18:39
  pay
• 18:39
  a
• 18:39
  little
• 18:39
  more
• 18:39
  for
• 18:39
  it,
• 18:39
  but
• 18:39
  you
• 18:40
  can.
• 18:40
  If
• 18:40
  you
• 18:41
  are
• 18:41
  a
• 18:41
  woodworker,
• 18:42
  you
• 18:42
  can
• 18:42
  work
• 18:43
  with
• 18:43
  it,
• 18:43
  but
• 18:43
  it
• 18:43
  is
• 18:44
  dense.
• 18:45
  You
• 18:45
  almost
• 18:45
  need
• 18:45
  to
• 18:46
  pretend
• 18:46
  like
• 18:46
  you're
• 18:46
  cutting
• 18:47
  metal
• 18:47
  with
• 18:47
  it.
• 18:47
  It
• 18:47
  is
• 18:48
  so
• 18:49
  dense.
• 18:50
  Have
• 18:50
  a
• 18:50
  good
• 18:51
  saw,
• 18:51
  have
• 18:51
  a
• 18:52
  good
• 18:52
  router.
• 18:53
  Take
• 18:53
  your
• 18:54
  time,
• 18:55
  slow
• 18:55
  down
• 18:55
  the
• 18:56
  bits.
• 18:57
  This
• 18:57
  stuff
• 18:58
  is
• 18:58
  heavy.
• 18:59
  Have
• 18:59
  a
• 18:59
  friend
• 19:00
  help
• 19:00
  carry
• 19:00
  it.
• 19:01
  It's
• 19:01
  about
• 19:01
  as
• 19:01
  heavy
• 19:02
  as
• 19:02
  stone,
• 19:03
  but
• 19:03
  it
• 19:03
  works
• 19:04
  really
• 19:04
  well.
• 19:05
  So
• 19:05
  think
• 19:06
  about
• 19:06
  that
• 19:06
  kind
• 19:06
  of
• 19:06
  that
• 19:07
  aesthetic
• 19:07
  you
• 19:07
  have
• 19:07
  in
• 19:08
  your
• 19:08
  bathroom.
• 19:09
  Whether
• 19:09
  you're
• 19:09
  doing
• 19:09
  just
• 19:10
  countertops,
• 19:11
  whether
• 19:11
  you're
• 19:12
  doing
• 19:12
  the
• 19:12
  whole
• 19:13
  inside
• 19:13
  of
• 19:13
  the
• 19:14
  shower
• 19:14
  system,
• 19:15
  which
• 19:15
  I
• 19:16
  love
• 19:16
  the
• 19:16
  slab
• 19:16
  porcelain
• 19:17
  for
• 19:17
  that.
• 19:18
  You
• 19:18
  know,
• 19:18
  that
• 19:18
  is
• 19:19
  one
• 19:19
  thing
• 19:19
  that
• 19:19
  I
• 19:19
  think
• 19:20
  is
• 19:20
  really
• 19:20
  dated
• 19:21
  these
• 19:21
  days
• 19:21
  that
• 19:21
  I
• 19:21
  always
• 19:22
  say
• 19:22
  you
• 19:22
  got
• 19:22
  to
• 19:22
  be
• 19:22
  very
• 19:23
  careful
• 19:23
  of.
• 19:24
  I
• 19:24
  don't
• 19:25
  like
• 19:25
  doing
• 19:25
  the
• 19:25
  3cm
• 19:26
  or
• 19:27
  the
• 19:27
  inch
• 19:27
  and
• 19:27
  a
• 19:27
  quarter
• 19:27
  quartz
• 19:28
  on
• 19:28
  any
• 19:29
  kind
• 19:29
  of
• 19:29
  a
• 19:29
  backsplash.
• 19:30
  You
• 19:31
  do
• 19:31
  a
• 19:31
  backsplash,
• 19:31
  do
• 19:32
  it
• 19:32
  at
• 19:32
  tile.
• 19:33
  If
• 19:33
  you're
• 19:33
  going
• 19:33
  to
• 19:33
  do
• 19:33
  the
• 19:33
  slab,
• 19:34
  then
• 19:34
  go
• 19:34
  to
• 19:34
  porcelain
• 19:35
  where
• 19:35
  you
• 19:35
  can
• 19:35
  get
• 19:35
  the
• 19:35
  thinner
• 19:36
  stuff.
• 19:36
  Or
• 19:37
  you
• 19:37
  can
• 19:37
  have.
• 19:38
  If
• 19:38
  they've
• 19:38
  got
• 19:39
  a
• 19:39
  CNC
• 19:39
  machine,
• 19:40
  you
• 19:40
  can
• 19:40
  have
• 19:42
  that.
• 19:42
  Thicker
• 19:42
  slabs
• 19:43
  cut
• 19:43
  down.
• 19:44
  Yes,
• 19:44
  it's
• 19:44
  expensive
• 19:45
  because
• 19:45
  you're
• 19:45
  blowing
• 19:45
  a
• 19:46
  ton
• 19:46
  of
• 19:46
  material
• 19:46
  away,
• 19:47
  but
• 19:48
  you
• 19:48
  can
• 19:48
  do
• 19:48
  it
• 19:48
  if
• 19:49
  you
• 19:49
  want
• 19:49
  to.
• 19:50
  So
• 19:50
  it's
• 19:50
  something
• 19:51
  to
• 19:51
  consider
• 19:52
  when
• 19:52
  you're
• 19:53
  working
• 19:53
  on
• 19:53
  these
• 19:53
  kind
• 19:53
  of
• 19:53
  projects.
• 19:55
  But
• 19:55
  really
• 19:56
  think
• 19:56
  about
• 19:56
  how
• 19:57
  you're
• 19:57
  going
• 19:57
  to
• 19:57
  live
• 19:57
  in
• 19:57
  it,
• 19:58
  how
• 19:58
  you're
• 19:59
  going
• 19:59
  to
• 19:59
  maintain
• 19:59
  it.
• 20:00
  And
• 20:01
  with
• 20:01
  a
• 20:01
  kit,
• 20:01
  with
• 20:01
  a
• 20:02
  bathroom,
• 20:02
  for
• 20:02
  instance,
• 20:02
  you
• 20:03
  want
• 20:03
  to
• 20:03
  think
• 20:03
  about
• 20:03
  the
• 20:03
  bathroom
• 20:04
  sink.
• 20:05
  Are
• 20:05
  you
• 20:05
  going
• 20:05
  to
• 20:05
  do
• 20:05
  a
• 20:05
  top
• 20:06
  mount?
• 20:06
  Yeah.
• 20:07
  Not
• 20:07
  my
• 20:07
  favorite.
• 20:08
  Yes,
• 20:08
  you
• 20:09
  can
• 20:09
  do
• 20:09
  laminates.
• 20:09
  There
• 20:10
  are
• 20:10
  plenty
• 20:10
  of
• 20:11
  laminates
• 20:11
  out
• 20:11
  there.
• 20:11
  And
• 20:11
  if
• 20:12
  you're
• 20:12
  doing
• 20:12
  that
• 20:12
  mid
• 20:12
  century
• 20:13
  look
• 20:13
  or
• 20:14
  you
• 20:14
  want
• 20:14
  to
• 20:14
  do
• 20:14
  something
• 20:14
  like
• 20:15
  that,
• 20:15
  that's
• 20:16
  one
• 20:16
  thing.
• 20:17
  And
• 20:17
  yeah,
• 20:17
  laminates
• 20:18
  are
• 20:18
  great,
• 20:18
  but
• 20:19
  you're
• 20:19
  stuck
• 20:19
  with
• 20:19
  a
• 20:19
  top
• 20:19
  mount
• 20:20
  sink.
• 20:21
  And
• 20:21
  yes,
• 20:21
  you
• 20:21
  can
• 20:21
  order
• 20:22
  them.
• 20:22
  Have
• 20:22
  a
• 20:22
  made.
• 20:23
  Now
• 20:24
  that's
• 20:24
  one
• 20:24
  of
• 20:24
  the
• 20:24
  issues
• 20:25
  that
• 20:25
  you
• 20:25
  have
• 20:25
  to.
• 20:26
  Just
• 20:26
  as
• 20:26
  a
• 20:26
  side
• 20:26
  note,
• 20:27
  when
• 20:27
  you
• 20:28
  buy
• 20:28
  those
• 20:28
  kind
• 20:28
  of
• 20:29
  vanity
• 20:29
  kits
• 20:30
  from
• 20:30
  the
• 20:30
  home
• 20:30
  centers
• 20:31
  from
• 20:32
  the
• 20:32
  big
• 20:32
  box
• 20:32
  retailer.
• 20:33
  Those
• 20:34
  are
• 20:34
  most
• 20:34
  of
• 20:35
  the
• 20:35
  time,
• 20:35
  and
• 20:36
  I
• 20:36
  say
• 20:36
  most
• 20:36
  like
• 20:37
  95%
• 20:37
  of
• 20:37
  the
• 20:38
  time
• 20:38
  they
• 20:38
  are
• 20:39
  designed
• 20:39
  to
• 20:39
  be
• 20:39
  freestanding
• 20:40
  units
• 20:41
  like
• 20:42
  a
• 20:42
  piece
• 20:42
  of
• 20:42
  furniture.
• 20:43
  Problem
• 20:44
  is
• 20:44
  is
• 20:44
  most
• 20:44
  of
• 20:45
  our
• 20:45
  bathrooms
• 20:45
  out
• 20:45
  there
• 20:46
  are
• 20:46
  designed
• 20:48
  to
• 20:48
  have
• 20:48
  that
• 20:48
  vanity
• 20:49
  up

• 23:08
  by

  the

• 23:09
  many
• 23:09
  times
• 23:10
  you

  can

  these

  things
• 23:10
  at

  and
• 23:11
  probably

• 23:13
  it

• 23:14
  It's
• 23:14
  not
• 23:15
  a
• 23:15
  bad
• 23:15
  way
• 23:15
  to

  go.
• 23:16
  Find
• 23:16
  out
• 23:16
  more@montymcrills.com
• 23:19
  so
• 23:19
  we've
• 23:19
  been
• 23:20
  talking
• 23:20
  countertops
• 23:20
  today
• 23:21
  and
• 23:21
  there's
• 23:21
  a
• 23:21
  couple
• 23:22
  products
• 23:22
  we
• 23:22
  have
• 23:22
  not
• 23:23
  talked
• 23:23
  about
• 23:24
  when
• 23:24
  it
• 23:24
  comes
• 23:24
  to
• 23:25
  countertops.
• 23:26
  One
• 23:27
  of
• 23:27
  them
• 23:27
  is
• 23:27
  concrete,
• 23:28
  which
• 23:29
  I
• 23:29
  absolutely
• 23:30
  love,
• 23:31
  but
• 23:31
  you
• 23:31
  got
• 23:32
  to
• 23:32
  do
• 23:32
  it
• 23:32
  correctly.
• 23:34
  Now
• 23:34
  with
• 23:34
  concrete,
• 23:35
  it
• 23:36
  loves
• 23:36
  disdain.
• 23:37
  That
• 23:38
  is
• 23:38
  one
• 23:38
  of
• 23:38
  the
• 23:38
  things
• 23:38
  you
• 23:38
  need
• 23:39
  to
• 23:39
  think
• 23:39
  about.
• 23:40
  So
• 23:40
  you
• 23:40
  can
• 23:41
  do
• 23:41
  it
• 23:41
  in
• 23:41
  a
• 23:41
  bathroom,
• 23:42
  you
• 23:42
  can
• 23:42
  do
• 23:42
  it
• 23:42
  in
• 23:42
  a
• 23:43
  kitchen.
• 23:44
  Recommended
• 23:45
  as
• 23:45
  much
• 23:45
  for
• 23:45
  an
• 23:45
  outdoor
• 23:46
  kitchen.
• 23:47
  But
• 23:47
  the
• 23:47
  one
• 23:48
  thing
• 23:48
  you
• 23:48
  need
• 23:48
  to
• 23:48
  keep
• 23:48
  in
• 23:49
  mind
• 23:49
  with
• 23:49
  that
• 23:50
  is
• 23:50
  that
• 23:50
  it
• 23:51
  needs
• 23:51
  to
• 23:51
  be
• 23:51
  waxed
• 23:53
  because
• 23:53
  you
• 23:53
  want
• 23:54
  to
• 23:54
  actually
• 23:54
  use
• 23:54
  a
• 23:54
  wax
• 23:55
  on
• 23:55
  it.
• 23:55
  So
• 23:55
  it's
• 23:56
  food
• 23:56
  grade,
• 23:57
  especially
• 23:57
  in
• 23:57
  a
• 23:57
  kitchen.
• 23:58
  But
• 23:58
  you
• 23:59
  want
• 23:59
  to
• 23:59
  have
• 23:59
  something
• 23:59
  that's
• 24:00
  going
• 24:00
  to
• 24:00
  protect
• 24:00
  it
• 24:00
  and
• 24:01
  not
• 24:01
  have
• 24:01
  a
• 24:01
  finish
• 24:01
  that's
• 24:02
  going
• 24:02
  to
• 24:02
  flake
• 24:02
  off.
• 24:03
  This
• 24:04
  concrete
• 24:04
  is
• 24:04
  porous.
• 24:05
  Now
• 24:06
  I
• 24:06
  have
• 24:06
  done
• 24:06
  some
• 24:07
  concrete
• 24:07
  countertop
• 24:08
  projects
• 24:08
  and
• 24:09
  you
• 24:09
  want
• 24:10
  to
• 24:10
  do
• 24:10
  a
• 24:10
  mold
• 24:10
  out
• 24:10
  of
• 24:11
  those.
• 24:11
  I
• 24:11
  actually
• 24:12
  have
• 24:12
  built
• 24:12
  them
• 24:12
  upside
• 24:13
  down
• 24:14
  and
• 24:14
  I
• 24:15
  used
• 24:15
  either
• 24:16
  high
• 24:17
  gloss
• 24:17
  laminate
• 24:18
  as
• 24:18
  my
• 24:19
  form
• 24:20
  or
• 24:20
  I
• 24:21
  used
• 24:21
  a
• 24:21
  melamine.
• 24:22
  But
• 24:22
  the
• 24:22
  high
• 24:23
  gloss
• 24:23
  laminate
• 24:24
  was
• 24:25
  the
• 24:25
  best
• 24:26
  because
• 24:26
  it
• 24:26
  really
• 24:26
  gave
• 24:27
  you
• 24:27
  a
• 24:27
  good
• 24:27
  polish
• 24:28
  and
• 24:29
  basically
• 24:31
  you'll
• 24:31
  go
• 24:31
  through
• 24:32
  and
• 24:32
  you
• 24:32
  want
• 24:32
  to
• 24:32
  put
• 24:32
  some
• 24:33
  form
• 24:33
  release
• 24:33
  on
• 24:33
  there.
• 24:34
  The
• 24:34
  best
• 24:35
  guy
• 24:35
  to
• 24:35
  follow
• 24:35
  if
• 24:36
  you
• 24:36
  want
• 24:36
  a
• 24:36
  step
• 24:36
  by
• 24:36
  step
• 24:37
  guide
• 24:38
  is
• 24:38
  to
• 24:38
  Google
• 24:39
  up
• 24:40
  this
• 24:40
  guy
• 24:40
  out
• 24:40
  of
• 24:41
  the
• 24:41
  Bay
• 24:42
  Area.
• 24:42
  And
• 24:43
  I
• 24:43
  learned
• 24:44
  countertops
• 24:45
  from
• 24:45
  him.
• 24:46
  Sheesh.
• 24:47
  25
• 24:47
  years
• 24:48
  ago.
• 24:49
  And
• 24:50
  he
• 24:50
  was
• 24:50
  the
• 24:50
  leader
• 24:51
  of
• 24:52
  concrete
• 24:52
  countertops
• 24:53
  under
• 24:53
  there.
• 24:53
  And
• 24:54
  so
• 24:54
  this
• 24:55
  was
• 24:55
  Chang
• 24:55
  Design.
• 24:56

• 25:00
  He
• 25:01
  is
• 25:01
  the
• 25:01
  guy
• 25:02
  that
• 25:03
  really
• 25:04
  took
• 25:04
  concrete
• 25:05
  countertops
• 25:06
  to
• 25:07
  the
• 25:07
  next
• 25:07
  level.
• 25:08
  His
• 25:08
  website
• 25:08
  is
• 25:09
  concrete
• 25:09

• 25:11
  he
• 25:11
  started
• 25:12
  this
• 25:12
  in
• 25:12
  1978.
• 25:14
  Now
• 25:14
  I've
• 25:15
  gone
• 25:15
  to
• 25:15
  lunch
• 25:15
  with
• 25:15
  him
• 25:15
  one
• 25:16
  time
• 25:16
  before.
• 25:16
  Neat
• 25:17
  guy.
• 25:18
  Probably
• 25:18
  15,
• 25:19
  20
• 25:19
  years
• 25:19
  ago,
• 25:19
  we
• 25:20
  hit
• 25:20

• 25:21
  and
• 25:21
  he
• 25:21
  is
• 25:22
  a
• 25:23
  based
• 25:23
  in
• 25:23
  Berkeley,
• 25:24
  California.
• 25:25
  He
• 25:25
  is
• 25:25
  one
• 25:26
  of
• 25:26
  the
• 25:26
  OGs,
• 25:27
  if
• 25:28
  not
• 25:28
  the
• 25:28
  OG
• 25:28
  of
• 25:29
  this.
• 25:29
  He
• 25:30
  has
• 25:30
  done
• 25:31
  so
• 25:31
  much
• 25:32
  for
• 25:32
  the
• 25:32
  world
• 25:32
  of
• 25:32
  concrete
• 25:33
  countertops
• 25:34
  and
• 25:35
  he's
• 25:35
  got
• 25:35
  a
• 25:35
  whole
• 25:35
  architectural
• 25:36
  system
• 25:36
  out
• 25:37
  there.
• 25:37
  But
• 25:38
  when
• 25:38
  it
• 25:38
  comes
• 25:38
  to
• 25:38
  concrete
• 25:39
  countertops
• 25:41
  and
• 25:41
  their
• 25:41
  store
• 25:42
  that
• 25:42
  they
• 25:42
  have
• 25:42
  there,
• 25:44
  they
• 25:44
  really
• 25:45
  take
• 25:45
  you
• 25:45
  through
• 25:46
  from
• 25:46
  the
• 25:47
  forming
• 25:47
  supplies
• 25:48
  to
• 25:48
  the
• 25:49
  concrete
• 25:50
  countertop
• 25:50
  mix.
• 25:51
  If
• 25:52
  you're
• 25:52
  gonna
• 25:52
  do
• 25:52
  a
• 25:53
  concrete
• 25:53
  Countertop
• 25:54
  as
• 25:54
  a
• 25:54
  DIY
• 25:54
  project,
• 25:55
  take
• 25:55
  a
• 25:55
  look@concreteeexchange.com
• 25:58
  it
• 25:58
  is
• 25:58
  great.
• 25:59
  So
• 25:59
  they
• 25:59
  have
• 25:59
  an
• 26:00
  all
• 26:00
  weather
• 26:00
  mix,
• 26:01
  they
• 26:01
  have
• 26:01
  the
• 26:02
  concrete
• 26:03
  countertop
• 26:03
  slurry,
• 26:04
  they
• 26:05
  have
• 26:05
  the
• 26:05
  all
• 26:06
  the
• 26:06
  materials
• 26:07
  here
• 26:08
  from
• 26:08
  the
• 26:08
  polyurethane
• 26:09
  concrete
• 26:10
  countertop
• 26:10
  sealer.
• 26:11
  They
• 26:11
  have
• 26:12
  all
• 26:12
  the
• 26:12
  cool
• 26:13
  stuff.
• 26:14
  And
• 26:14
  I
• 26:14
  tell
• 26:14
  you
• 26:14
  what,
• 26:15
  they
• 26:16
  have
• 26:16
  even
• 26:16
  cleaners.
• 26:18
  And
• 26:18
  I
• 26:19
  tell
• 26:19
  you
• 26:19
  what,
• 26:19
  it
• 26:19
  is
• 26:20
  a
• 26:21
  amazing
• 26:22
  resource
• 26:23
  for
• 26:23
  doing
• 26:23
  concrete
• 26:24
  if
• 26:24
  you're
• 26:24
  gonna
• 26:24
  do
• 26:24
  it.
• 26:25
  So
• 26:26
  they
• 26:26
  have
• 26:26
  pigments,
• 26:26
  they
• 26:27
  have
• 26:27
  all
• 26:27
  the
• 26:27
  stuff
• 26:27
  you
• 26:27
  can
• 26:28
  do.
• 26:28
  Now
• 26:28
  the
• 26:28
  cool
• 26:28
  thing
• 26:29
  with
• 26:29
  him,
• 26:30
  he
• 26:30
  was
• 26:30
  known
• 26:31
  for
• 26:31
  taking,
• 26:31
  you
• 26:32
  know,
• 26:32
  basically
• 26:33
  fossils
• 26:33
  and
• 26:34
  setting
• 26:34
  them
• 26:34
  in.
• 26:35
  He
• 26:35
  would
• 26:35
  put
• 26:35
  in
• 26:36
  metal
• 26:37
  bars
• 26:37
  so
• 26:37
  you
• 26:37
  could
• 26:37
  set
• 26:38
  a
• 26:38
  hot
• 26:38
  plate
• 26:38
  on
• 26:38
  there.
• 26:39
  He
• 26:39
  would
• 26:40
  do
• 26:40
  all
• 26:40
  this
• 26:41
  stuff
• 26:41
  you
• 26:42
  can
• 26:42
  buy
• 26:42
  mold
• 26:42
  rubber,
• 26:43
  you
• 26:44
  can
• 26:44
  get
• 26:44
  the
• 26:44
  reinforcing
• 26:45
  mesh.
• 26:46
  There
• 26:47
  is
• 26:47
  all
• 26:47
  the
• 26:47
  different
• 26:48
  nano,
• 26:49
  nano
• 26:49
  coat
• 26:50
  concrete
• 26:50
  sealers,
• 26:51
  all
• 26:51
  these
• 26:51
  different
• 26:51
  things
• 26:51
  here,
• 26:52
  which
• 26:52
  is
• 26:52
  really
• 26:52
  cool.
• 26:53
  And
• 26:54
  they've
• 26:54
  also
• 26:54
  got
• 26:55
  the
• 26:55
  countertop
• 26:56
  form
• 26:56
  and
• 26:57
  like
• 26:57
  bullnose
• 26:58
  and
• 26:58
  things
• 26:58
  like
• 26:59
  that.
• 26:59
  If
• 26:59
  you
• 26:59
  want
• 26:59
  to
• 26:59
  do
• 27:00
  a
• 27:00
  bullnose
• 27:00
  or
• 27:01
  a
• 27:01
  perfectly
• 27:01
  square
• 27:02
  edge,
• 27:02
  he
• 27:03
  sells
• 27:03
  those
• 27:04
  pieces
• 27:04
  for
• 27:04
  that,
• 27:06
  which
• 27:06
  is
• 27:06
  really
• 27:06
  cool.
• 27:08
  Something
• 27:08
  to
• 27:08
  take
• 27:08
  a
• 27:08
  look
• 27:09
  at
• 27:09
  if
• 27:09
  you're
• 27:09
  going
• 27:09
  to
• 27:10
  tackle
• 27:10
  a
• 27:10
  concrete
• 27:11
  countertop.
• 27:12
  Now,
• 27:13
  concrete
• 27:13
  countertops
• 27:14
  are
• 27:14
  a
• 27:14
  living
• 27:14
  surface.
• 27:15
  Yes,
• 27:16
  you
• 27:16
  will.
• 27:16
  Stain
• 27:18
  could
• 27:18
  crack.
• 27:19
  All
• 27:19
  these
• 27:19
  things
• 27:20
  can
• 27:20
  happen
• 27:20
  because
• 27:20
  it's
• 27:20
  concrete.
• 27:21
  So
• 27:21
  you
• 27:21
  have
• 27:21
  to
• 27:22
  expect
• 27:22
  it.
• 27:23
  Now
• 27:23
  for
• 27:24
  me,
• 27:24
  the
• 27:24
  most
• 27:24
  durable
• 27:25
  surface
• 27:26
  is
• 27:26
  going
• 27:26
  to
• 27:26
  be
• 27:26
  slab
• 27:27
  porcelain
• 27:27
  again
• 27:28
  or
• 27:28
  one
• 27:29
  of
• 27:29
  the
• 27:29
  sintered
• 27:29
  stones.
• 27:30
  That
• 27:31
  is
• 27:31
  a
• 27:31
  great
• 27:32
  material
• 27:33
  to
• 27:33
  use
• 27:34
  for
• 27:34
  this
• 27:35
  and
• 27:35
  I
• 27:36
  think
• 27:36
  it's
• 27:36
  really
• 27:36
  durable.
• 27:37
  Now
• 27:37
  if
• 27:37
  you
• 27:37
  want
• 27:37
  that
• 27:38
  beauty
• 27:38
  of
• 27:38
  natural
• 27:39
  stone,
• 27:40
  the
• 27:40
  world
• 27:40
  is
• 27:41
  your
• 27:41
  oyster.
• 27:41
  You
• 27:42
  can
• 27:42
  go
• 27:42
  marble,
• 27:42
  you
• 27:43
  can
• 27:43
  go
• 27:43
  granite,
• 27:44
  you
• 27:44
  can
• 27:44
  go
• 27:45
  quartzite.
• 27:46
  Any
• 27:46
  one
• 27:46
  of
• 27:46
  These
• 27:47
  different
• 27:47
  products.
• 27:47
  Now,
• 27:48
  let's
• 27:48
  talk
• 27:49
  about
• 27:49
  a
• 27:49
  myth
• 27:49
  that
• 27:49
  came
• 27:50
  out
• 27:50
  here
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  number
• 27:50
  of
• 27:51
  years
• 27:51
  ago.
• 27:52
  And
• 27:53
  from
• 27:53
  my
• 27:53
  understanding,
• 27:54
  this
• 27:54
  myth
• 27:55
  was
• 27:55
  created
• 27:56
  by
• 27:57
  the
• 27:57
  quartz
• 27:57
  countertop
• 27:58
  industry
• 27:59
  to
• 27:59
  talk
• 27:59
  people
• 28:00
  out
• 28:00
  of
• 28:00
  buying
• 28:00
  granite.
• 28:01
  There
• 28:02
  were
• 28:02
  people
• 28:02
  out
• 28:02
  there
• 28:03
  claiming
• 28:04
  that
• 28:04
  you
• 28:04
  were
• 28:04
  getting
• 28:05
  radon
• 28:06
  out
• 28:06
  of
• 28:06
  these
• 28:06
  stone
• 28:07
  countertops.
• 28:08
  Here's
• 28:09
  the
• 28:09
  problem,
• 28:09
  guys.
• 28:10
  An
• 28:10
  inch
• 28:11
  and
• 28:11
  a
• 28:11
  half
• 28:11
  or
• 28:12
  even
• 28:12
  a
• 28:12
  3
• 28:12
  quarter
• 28:13
  inch
• 28:13
  thick
• 28:13
  piece
• 28:14
  of
• 28:14
  stone
• 28:15
  is
• 28:15
  not
• 28:16
  going
• 28:16
  to
• 28:16
  be
• 28:16
  putting
• 28:16
  off
• 28:17
  measurable
• 28:18
  radon.
• 28:19
  It
• 28:19
  just,
• 28:20
  it's
• 28:20
  just
• 28:20
  not
• 28:21
  going
• 28:21
  to
• 28:21
  be
• 28:21
  something
• 28:21
  that's
• 28:22
  that
• 28:22
  big
• 28:22
  a
• 28:22
  deal.
• 28:23
  Now,
• 28:24
  are
• 28:24
  there
• 28:24
  exceptions
• 28:25
  out
• 28:25
  there?
• 28:25
  I'm
• 28:25
  sure
• 28:26
  there
• 28:26
  are,
• 28:27
  but
• 28:27
  generally
• 28:28
  that's
• 28:28
  not
• 28:28
  a
• 28:28
  big
• 28:28
  deal.
• 28:29
  Now
• 28:29
  I
• 28:30
  would
• 28:30
  find
• 28:30
  out
• 28:30
  where
• 28:31
  your
• 28:31
  granite's
• 28:31
  coming
• 28:32
  from.
• 28:32
  I
• 28:32
  would
• 28:33
  be
• 28:33
  a
• 28:33
  little
• 28:33
  concerned
• 28:34
  if
• 28:34
  it's
• 28:34
  coming
• 28:34
  out
• 28:35
  of
• 28:35
  China
• 28:36
  or
• 28:36
  some
• 28:36
  of
• 28:36
  these
• 28:36
  other
• 28:37
  countries
• 28:37
  that
• 28:37
  don't
• 28:38
  have
• 28:38
  environmental
• 28:39
  regulations
• 28:39
  that
• 28:40
  could
• 28:40
  have
• 28:40
  chemicals
• 28:41
  that
• 28:41
  have
• 28:41
  leached
• 28:42
  down
• 28:42
  into
• 28:42
  this
• 28:42
  stone.
• 28:43
  So
• 28:44
  that
• 28:44
  could
• 28:44
  be
• 28:44
  an
• 28:44
  issue.
• 28:45
  But
• 28:46
  pretty
• 28:46
  easy
• 28:47
  to
• 28:47
  test
• 28:47
  that
• 28:47
  to
• 28:48
  see
• 28:48
  what's
• 28:48
  going
• 28:48
  on.
• 28:49
  That's
• 28:50
  the
• 28:50
  only
• 28:50
  concern
• 28:51
  I
• 28:51
  would
• 28:51
  be
• 28:51
  looked
• 28:52
  at.
• 28:52
  But
• 28:52
  many
• 28:52
  of
• 28:52
  the
• 28:52
  granites
• 28:53
  are
• 28:53
  coming
• 28:53
  out
• 28:53
  of
• 28:53
  places
• 28:54
  like
• 28:54
  Brazil,
• 28:55
  Italy,
• 28:56
  where
• 28:57
  it's
• 28:57
  not
• 28:57
  as
• 28:57
  big
• 28:57
  a
• 28:58
  deal
• 28:58
  that
• 28:58
  you
• 28:58
  see
• 28:59
  because
• 29:00
  they
• 29:00
  just
• 29:00
  didn't
• 29:00
  have
• 29:01
  that
• 29:01
  manufacturing
• 29:02
  base.
• 29:02
  And
• 29:03
  you
• 29:03
  didn't
• 29:03
  have
• 29:03
  people
• 29:03
  just
• 29:04
  going
• 29:04
  out
• 29:04
  dumping
• 29:04
  semi
• 29:05
  trucks
• 29:05
  of
• 29:05
  chemicals
• 29:05
  out
• 29:06
  in
• 29:06
  places
• 29:06
  that
• 29:06
  they
• 29:06
  shouldn't
• 29:07
  have
• 29:07
  been.
• 29:07
  A
• 29:08
  little
• 29:08
  easier
• 29:08
  on
• 29:08
  the
• 29:08
  environmental
• 29:09
  regulations,
• 29:09
  at
• 29:10
  least
• 29:10
  in
• 29:10
  some
• 29:10
  areas.
• 29:11
  But
• 29:11
  it's
• 29:12
  something
• 29:12
  to
• 29:12
  think
• 29:12
  about.
• 29:13
  Now,
• 29:14
  if
• 29:14
  you're
• 29:14
  on
• 29:14
  a
• 29:14
  budget,
• 29:15
  laminate
• 29:16
  can
• 29:16
  be
• 29:16
  a
• 29:16
  great
• 29:16
  option.
• 29:17
  Nothing
• 29:17
  wrong
• 29:18
  with
• 29:18
  it.
• 29:18
  You
• 29:19
  could
• 29:19
  do
• 29:19
  it
• 29:19
  yourself.
• 29:21
  You
• 29:21
  can
• 29:21
  go
• 29:21
  through
• 29:21
  if
• 29:22
  you,
• 29:22
  if
• 29:22
  you're
• 29:22
  good
• 29:22
  with
• 29:22
  a
• 29:23
  router
• 29:24
  in
• 29:24
  your
• 29:24
  attention
• 29:25
  to
• 29:25
  detail.
• 29:25
  Yeah,
• 29:26
  you
• 29:26
  can
• 29:26
  do
• 29:26
  it
• 29:26
  yourself.
• 29:26
  You
• 29:26
  can
• 29:27
  go
• 29:27
  down
• 29:27
  to
• 29:27
  your
• 29:27
  home
• 29:27
  center
• 29:27
  or
• 29:28
  have
• 29:28
  a
• 29:28
  contractor
• 29:28
  come
• 29:28
  out.
• 29:29
  A
• 29:29
  lot
• 29:29
  of
• 29:30
  different
• 29:30
  ways
• 29:30
  to
• 29:30
  do
• 29:30
  laminate
• 29:31
  that'll
• 29:32
  be
• 29:32
  your
• 29:32
  least
• 29:32
  expensive
• 29:33
  in
• 29:33
  a
• 29:33
  kitchen.
• 29:34
  Next
• 29:34
  up,
• 29:35
  probably
• 29:35
  a
• 29:36
  DIY
• 29:37
  wood
• 29:37
  countertop
• 29:38
  tile.
• 29:40
  And
• 29:40
  then
• 29:40
  you're
• 29:40
  going
• 29:40
  to
• 29:41
  jump
• 29:41
  into
• 29:41
  kind
• 29:41
  of
• 29:41
  the
• 29:42
  quartz,
• 29:42
  the
• 29:42
  world
• 29:43
  of
• 29:43
  quartz,
• 29:44
  the
• 29:44
  slab
• 29:44
  quartz.
• 29:45
  The
• 29:46
  budget
• 29:46
  off
• 29:47
  brand
• 29:47
  stuff
• 29:47
  will
• 29:47
  be
• 29:47
  your
• 29:48
  least
• 29:48
  expensive.
• 29:49
  Now
• 29:50
  here's
• 29:50
  one
• 29:50
  thing
• 29:50
  to
• 29:51
  think
• 29:51
  about
• 29:51
  when
• 29:51
  you're
• 29:52
  looking
• 29:52
  and
• 29:52
  having
• 29:53
  a
• 29:53
  conversation
• 29:54
  at
• 29:55
  your
• 29:55
  slab
• 29:55
  yard,
• 29:55
  whether
• 29:56
  it's
• 29:56
  quartz,
• 29:56
  granite
• 29:57
  or
• 29:57
  whatever.
• 29:58
  There
• 29:58
  are
• 29:58
  different
• 29:59
  grades.
• 30:00
  There
• 30:01

• 30:01
  B,
• 30:01

  grades.
• 30:03
  Depending
• 30:03
  on
• 30:03
  how
• 30:03
  the
• 30:04
  manufacturer
• 30:05
  calls
• 30:05
  it.
• 30:06
  They
• 30:06
  ship
• 30:07
  out
• 30:07
  stuff
• 30:07
  that
• 30:07
  is
• 30:08
  not
• 30:08
  perfect.
• 30:09
  There
• 30:10
  could
• 30:10
  be
• 30:10
  flaws.
• 30:11
  There
• 30:11
  could
• 30:11
  be
• 30:12
  areas
• 30:12
  where
• 30:13
  it's
• 30:13
  a
• 30:13
  little
• 30:13
  pockmarked.
• 30:14
  It
• 30:14
  could
• 30:14
  be
• 30:15
  the
• 30:15
  color
• 30:16
  is
• 30:16
  a
• 30:16
  little
• 30:16
  off.
• 30:18
  There
• 30:18
  are
• 30:18
  different
• 30:19
  grades.
• 30:20
  Understand
• 30:21
  what
• 30:21
  you're
• 30:21
  buying
• 30:22
  when
• 30:23
  you're
• 30:23
  dealing
• 30:23
  with
• 30:23
  this.
• 30:23
  Is
• 30:24
  that
• 30:24
  an
• 30:24
  A
• 30:24
  grade
• 30:25
  material?
• 30:26
  Are
• 30:26
  you
• 30:26
  saving
• 30:27
  money
• 30:27
  and
• 30:27
  getting
• 30:27
  a
• 30:28
  B
• 30:28
  grade
• 30:28
  material?
• 30:29
  These
• 30:29
  are
• 30:30
  things
• 30:30
  that
• 30:30
  you
• 30:30
  should
• 30:30
  know
• 30:31
  before
• 30:31
  you
• 30:31
  go
• 30:31
  in
• 30:32
  and
• 30:32
  write
• 30:32
  that
• 30:33
  big
• 30:33
  check
• 30:33
  for
• 30:33
  these
• 30:33
  countertops.
• 30:35
  And
• 30:35
  that's
• 30:35
  how
• 30:35
  I
• 30:36
  would
• 30:36
  really
• 30:36
  dive
• 30:37
  into
• 30:37
  this
• 30:37
  and
• 30:37
  take
• 30:38
  a
• 30:38
  look.
• 30:38
  If
• 30:38
  you
• 30:38
  want
• 30:38
  something
• 30:39
  that's
• 30:39
  going
• 30:39
  to
• 30:39
  be
• 30:39
  durable
• 30:40
  to
• 30:40
  heat.
• 30:41
  If
• 30:41
  you're
• 30:41
  a
• 30:41
  person
• 30:41
  that
• 30:42
  likes
• 30:42
  to
• 30:42
  take
• 30:42
  your
• 30:43
  hot
• 30:43
  pan
• 30:44
  off
• 30:44
  and
• 30:44
  set
• 30:44
  it
• 30:44
  on
• 30:44
  the
• 30:45
  countertop
• 30:46
  slab,
• 30:47
  porcelain
• 30:47
  is
• 30:47
  going
• 30:48
  to
• 30:48
  be
• 30:48
  your
• 30:48
  best
• 30:48
  bet.
• 30:48
  You
• 30:49
  will
• 30:49
  ruin
• 30:49
  quartz.
• 30:50
  It's
• 30:50
  got
• 30:50
  plastics
• 30:51
  in
• 30:51
  it.
• 30:52
  You're
• 30:52
  going
• 30:52
  to
• 30:53
  maybe
• 30:54
  crack
• 30:54
  a
• 30:54
  tile
• 30:55
  laminate.
• 30:56
  You'll
• 30:56
  destroy
• 30:57
  if
• 30:57
  you're
• 30:58
  cutting
• 30:58
  on
• 30:58
  it.
• 30:58
  Don't.
• 30:58
  You're
• 30:59
  ruining
• 30:59
  your
• 30:59
  knives
• 30:59
  no
• 30:59
  matter
• 30:59
  what
• 31:00
  you're
• 31:00
  doing.
• 31:00
  So
• 31:00
  never
• 31:00
  cut
• 31:01
  on
• 31:01
  a
• 31:01
  countertop
• 31:01
  surface,
• 31:02
  whether
• 31:02
  it's
• 31:02
  wood
• 31:02
  or
• 31:02
  anything
• 31:03
  else.
• 31:03
  If
• 31:04
  you're
• 31:04
  going
• 31:04
  to
• 31:04
  do
• 31:04
  wood.
• 31:05
  Something
• 31:06
  to
• 31:06
  think
• 31:06
  about
• 31:07
  as
• 31:07
  long
• 31:07
  as
• 31:07
  you're
• 31:08
  oiling
• 31:08
  it
• 31:08
  and
• 31:08
  you're
• 31:08
  dealing
• 31:09
  with
• 31:09
  it
• 31:09
  as
• 31:09
  a
• 31:09
  food
• 31:09
  grade
• 31:10
  surface.
• 31:11
  I
• 31:11
  wouldn't
• 31:11
  do
• 31:11
  wood
• 31:12
  everywhere.
• 31:12
  It's
• 31:13
  really
• 31:13
  bad
• 31:13
  around
• 31:14
  a
• 31:14
  sink,
• 31:15
  but
• 31:15
  it
• 31:15
  can
• 31:16
  be
• 31:16
  a
• 31:16
  really
• 31:16
  cool
• 31:17
  area.
• 31:17
  You
• 31:18
  just
• 31:18
  got
• 31:18
  to
• 31:18
  worry
• 31:18
  about
• 31:18
  the
• 31:19
  hygiene
• 31:19
  with
• 31:19
  it
• 31:19
  because
• 31:20
  if
• 31:20
  you're
• 31:20
  leaking
• 31:21
  raw
• 31:22
  chicken
• 31:22
  juice
• 31:22
  on
• 31:22
  it
• 31:22
  every
• 31:23
  day,
• 31:23
  it's
• 31:23
  not
• 31:23
  the
• 31:23
  best
• 31:24
  situation.
• 31:25
  Now
• 31:25
  the
• 31:25
  other
• 31:25
  thing
• 31:25
  to
• 31:26
  think
• 31:26
  about
• 31:26
  is
• 31:26
  there's
• 31:27
  plenty
• 31:27
  of
• 31:27
  epoxies
• 31:28
  out
• 31:28
  there
• 31:28
  too.
• 31:29
  Now
• 31:29
  these
• 31:29
  are
• 31:29
  projects
• 31:30
  that
• 31:30
  can
• 31:30
  go
• 31:30
  completely
• 31:31
  sideways.
• 31:31
  You
• 31:32
  want
• 31:32
  to
• 31:32
  learn
• 31:33
  what
• 31:33
  you're
• 31:33
  doing
• 31:34
  before
• 31:34
  you
• 31:34
  do
• 31:34
  epoxy.
• 31:35
  I've
• 31:35
  seen
• 31:35
  people
• 31:35
  take
• 31:36
  laminate
• 31:37
  countertops
• 31:37
  and
• 31:37
  go
• 31:38
  over
• 31:38
  the
• 31:38
  top
• 31:38
  of
• 31:38
  them
• 31:38
  with
• 31:38
  epoxy.
• 31:39
  That
• 31:40
  can
• 31:40
  be
• 31:40
  cool.
• 31:41
  But
• 31:42
  I've
• 31:42
  also
• 31:42
  had
• 31:42
  buddies
• 31:43
  that
• 31:43
  have
• 31:43
  tried
• 31:43
  these
• 31:43
  epoxy
• 31:44
  countertops
• 31:45
  and
• 31:45
  it
• 31:45
  baked
• 31:46
  off
• 31:46
  too
• 31:46
  fast
• 31:47
  and
• 31:47
  they
• 31:47
  had
• 31:47
  a
• 31:48
  heck
• 31:48
  of
• 31:48
  a
• 31:48
  mess.
• 31:49
  It
• 31:49
  starts
• 31:49
  smoking,
• 31:50
  it's
• 31:51
  bubbling
• 31:52
  and
• 31:53
  you're
• 31:53
  starting
• 31:53
  over
• 31:54
  or
• 31:54
  you're
• 31:54
  grinding
• 31:55
  the
• 31:55
  material
• 31:55
  off
• 31:56
  and
• 31:56
  you're
• 31:56
  doing
• 31:56
  it
• 31:56
  again.
• 31:57
  So
• 31:57
  you
• 31:58
  want
• 31:58
  to
• 31:58
  make
• 31:58
  sure
• 31:58
  you
• 31:58
  do
• 31:59
  it
• 31:59
  right
• 31:59
  with
• 31:59
  high
• 32:00
  grade
• 32:00
  materials
• 32:01
  and
• 32:01
  you'll
• 32:02
  be
• 32:02
  good
• 32:02
  to
• 32:02
  go.
• 32:03
  Now
• 32:03
  when
• 32:03
  we
• 32:03
  come
• 32:03
  back,
• 32:03
  we're
• 32:04
  going
• 32:04
  to
• 32:04
  talk
• 32:04
  about
• 32:04
  some
• 32:04
  of
• 32:05
  the
• 32:05
  things
• 32:05
  you
• 32:05
  can
• 32:05
  do
• 32:05
  in
• 32:05
  those
• 32:06
  other
• 32:06
  situations.
• 32:07
  Whether
• 32:07
  it's
• 32:07
  a
• 32:08
  wine
• 32:08
  room,
• 32:08
  whether
• 32:09
  it's
• 32:09
  an
• 32:09
  outdoor
• 32:10
  kitchen
• 32:10
  or
• 32:11
  you
• 32:11
  want
• 32:11
  something
• 32:12
  outside
• 32:12
  like
• 32:13
  in
• 32:13
  your
• 32:13
  garage
• 32:14
  or
• 32:15
  a
• 32:15

• 32:16
  We'll
• 32:16
  do
• 32:16
  that
• 32:16
  just
• 32:16
  as
• 32:16
  soon

  as

• 32:18
  Don't

  happens

  out

  there

  many

• 35:03
  on
• 35:04
  this

• 35:04
  by
• 35:04
  the
• 35:04
  way,
• 35:05
  guys
• 35:05
  and
• 35:05
  I
• 35:05
  talked
• 35:05
  a
• 35:06
  little
• 35:06
  bit
• 35:06
  about
• 35:06
  it
• 35:06
  this
• 35:06
  last
• 35:07
  week
• 35:07
  in

• 35:08
  But
• 35:09
  we

  really.
• 35:10
  And
• 35:10
  that's
• 35:10
  up
• 35:11
  our

• 35:12

  if
• 35:14
  you're
• 35:14
  catching
• 35:15
  us
• 35:15
  on
• 35:15
  the
• 35:15
  national
• 35:15
  radio
• 35:16
  show,
• 35:17
  we
• 35:17
  have
• 35:17
  a
• 35:17
  full
• 35:17
  podcast,
• 35:18
  thousand
• 35:19
  episodes
• 35:19
  in
• 35:19
  the
• 35:19
  back
• 35:19
  catalog
• 35:21
  and
• 35:21
  our
• 35:21
  midweek
• 35:22
  update
• 35:22
  that
• 35:22
  tells
• 35:23
  what's
• 35:23
  going
• 35:23
  on.
• 35:23
  And
• 35:23
  we
• 35:24
  talked
• 35:24
  about
• 35:24
  this
• 35:24
  a
• 35:24
  bit
• 35:24
  this
• 35:25
  last
• 35:25
  week.
• 35:26
  But
• 35:26
  here's
• 35:27
  the
• 35:27
  thing.
• 35:28
  I
• 35:28
  had
• 35:28
  a
• 35:28
  great
• 35:28
  team.
• 35:29
  We
• 35:29
  had
• 35:29
  a
• 35:30
  lot
• 35:30
  of
• 35:30
  fun.
• 35:31
  But
• 35:32
  that
• 35:32
  show,
• 35:32
  we
• 35:32
  did
• 35:33
  all
• 35:33
  we
• 35:33
  could
• 35:34
  do
• 35:34
  at
• 35:34
  a
• 35:34
  local
• 35:34
  television
• 35:35
  station.
• 35:36
  We
• 35:37
  did
• 35:38
  so
• 35:38
  much
• 35:39
  to
• 35:39
  make
• 35:39
  things
• 35:39
  happen
• 35:40
  on
• 35:40
  that
• 35:40
  show.
• 35:41
  Bradley,
• 35:41
  my
• 35:41
  first
• 35:42
  guy,
• 35:42
  Bradley
• 35:43
  Davis,
• 35:43
  such
• 35:43
  a
• 35:44
  professional,
• 35:45
  probably
• 35:45
  the
• 35:46
  most
• 35:46
  professional
• 35:46
  guy
• 35:47
  I
• 35:47
  worked
• 35:47
  with
• 35:47
  in
• 35:48
  tv.
• 35:48
  Yeah,
• 35:49
  at
• 35:49
  him
• 35:49
  and
• 35:49
  I,
• 35:49
  we
• 35:50
  fought
• 35:50
  toe
• 35:50
  to
• 35:51
  toe
• 35:51
  sometimes,
• 35:52
  never
• 35:52
  blows
• 35:53
  to
• 35:53
  blow.
• 35:53
  But
• 35:53
  we
• 35:54
  were,
• 35:54
  we
• 35:54
  argued
• 35:54
  hard
• 35:55
  because
• 35:55
  we
• 35:55
  both
• 35:55
  had
• 35:56
  passion.
• 35:57
  And
• 35:57
  that
• 35:57
  guy
• 35:58
  did
• 35:59
  the
• 35:59
  impossible
• 35:59
  with
• 36:00
  me.
• 36:00
  Yeah,
• 36:00
  we
• 36:00
  did
• 36:02
  probably
• 36:02
  80
• 36:02
  television
• 36:03
  shows
• 36:04
  back
• 36:04
  to
• 36:05
  back,
• 36:05
  52
• 36:06
  weeks
• 36:06
  a
• 36:06
  year,
• 36:07
  two
• 36:07
  people.
• 36:08
  We
• 36:09
  were
• 36:09
  the
• 36:09
  leanest
• 36:10
  television
• 36:11
  crew
• 36:12
  in
• 36:12
  the
• 36:13
  world
• 36:13
  shooting
• 36:14
  an
• 36:14
  hour
• 36:14
  television
• 36:15
  show.
• 36:15
  It
• 36:16
  was
• 36:16
  crazy.
• 36:17
  We
• 36:17
  had
• 36:17
  40
• 36:18
  plus
• 36:18
  minutes
• 36:18
  of
• 36:18
  content
• 36:19
  every
• 36:19
  week
• 36:19
  and
• 36:20
  no
• 36:20
  breaks.
• 36:21
  We
• 36:21
  just
• 36:21
  rock
• 36:22
  and
• 36:22
  rolled
• 36:22
  and
• 36:22
  had
• 36:23
  to
• 36:23
  go.
• 36:24
  Whether
• 36:24
  we
• 36:24
  were
• 36:24
  sick,
• 36:24
  whether
• 36:25
  I
• 36:25
  was
• 36:25
  hurt,
• 36:26
  heck,
• 36:26
  I
• 36:26
  had
• 36:26
  a
• 36:26
  broken
• 36:27
  knee.
• 36:27
  I
• 36:27
  was
• 36:27
  out
• 36:27
  there
• 36:28
  doing
• 36:28
  concrete
• 36:29
  work
• 36:29
  on
• 36:29
  a
• 36:29
  stool
• 36:30
  because
• 36:31
  the
• 36:31
  show
• 36:31
  had
• 36:31
  to
• 36:31
  go
• 36:31
  on.
• 36:32
  And
• 36:33
  then
• 36:33
  of
• 36:33
  course,
• 36:33
  the
• 36:33
  new
• 36:34
  version
• 36:34
  of
• 36:34
  it
• 36:34
  where
• 36:34
  we
• 36:35
  retooled
• 36:35
  it
• 36:35
  to
• 36:35
  a
• 36:36
  half
• 36:36
  hour
• 36:36
  show.
• 36:37
  And
• 36:37
  Hayden,
• 36:38
  Collin,
• 36:39
  Sparks,
• 36:40
  all
• 36:41
  the
• 36:41
  people
• 36:41
  that
• 36:41
  helped
• 36:41
  on
• 36:42
  that,
• 36:42
  hats
• 36:43
  off
• 36:43
  to
• 36:43
  them,
• 36:44
  put
• 36:44
  their
• 36:44
  heart
• 36:44
  and
• 36:45
  soul
• 36:45
  into
• 36:45
  the
• 36:45
  program
• 36:46
  today.
• 36:46
  We've
• 36:47
  been
• 36:47
  talking
• 36:47
  countertops
• 36:48
  here
• 36:48
  and
• 36:48
  I
• 36:48
  wanted
• 36:48
  to
• 36:48
  talk
• 36:49
  on
• 36:49
  this
• 36:50
  last
• 36:50
  segment
• 36:50
  of
• 36:51
  this
• 36:51
  hour
• 36:52
  about
• 36:52
  those
• 36:53
  kind
• 36:53
  of
• 36:53
  special
• 36:54
  places,
• 36:55
  whether
• 36:55
  it's
• 36:55
  a
• 36:56
  dog
• 36:56
  washroom
• 36:57
  or
• 36:57
  an
• 36:58
  outdoor
• 36:58
  kitchen,
• 36:59
  all
• 36:59
  these
• 37:00
  specialty
• 37:00
  places
• 37:00
  that
• 37:01
  you
• 37:01
  want
• 37:01
  to
• 37:01
  think
• 37:01
  about
• 37:01
  how
• 37:02
  you're
• 37:02
  going
• 37:02
  to
• 37:02
  use
• 37:02
  it.
• 37:03
  And
• 37:03
  what
• 37:04
  I
• 37:04
  do
• 37:04
  is
• 37:04
  go,
• 37:04
  okay,
• 37:05
  outside
• 37:06
  if
• 37:06
  you're
• 37:06
  going
• 37:06
  to
• 37:06
  be
• 37:06
  doing
• 37:06
  an
• 37:07
  outdoor
• 37:07
  kitchen
• 37:07
  or
• 37:07
  a
• 37:08
  potting
• 37:08
  area
• 37:09
  or
• 37:09
  It's
• 37:09
  a
• 37:09
  little
• 37:10
  bar
• 37:10
  area
• 37:10
  outside
• 37:11
  that
• 37:11
  you're
• 37:11
  trying
• 37:11
  to
• 37:11
  do.
• 37:12
  You
• 37:13
  need
• 37:13
  to
• 37:13
  think
• 37:13
  about
• 37:13
  two
• 37:14
  things.
• 37:14
  Is
• 37:14
  it
• 37:14
  going
• 37:15
  to
• 37:15
  freeze
• 37:16
  and
• 37:16
  are
• 37:17
  you
• 37:17
  gonna
• 37:17
  ever
• 37:17
  get
• 37:18
  UV
• 37:18
  on
• 37:18
  it?
• 37:18
  And
• 37:19
  yes,
• 37:19
  you
• 37:19
  will
• 37:19
  get
• 37:19
  uv.
• 37:20
  It
• 37:20
  will
• 37:20
  reflect
• 37:21
  off
• 37:21
  of
• 37:22
  a
• 37:22
  pool,
• 37:22
  water,
• 37:23
  window,
• 37:23
  glass,
• 37:24
  whatever.
• 37:25
  So
• 37:25
  those
• 37:26
  are
• 37:26
  the
• 37:26
  places
• 37:26
  that
• 37:27
  you
• 37:27
  want
• 37:27
  to
• 37:27
  use
• 37:27
  more
• 37:27
  natural
• 37:28
  products
• 37:28
  like
• 37:28
  tile,
• 37:29
  stone,
• 37:30
  maybe
• 37:31
  not
• 37:32
  quartz.
• 37:33
  If
• 37:33
  you're
• 37:33
  gonna
• 37:33
  get
• 37:33
  moisture
• 37:34
  into
• 37:34
  it,
• 37:34
  you
• 37:34
  want
• 37:35
  to
• 37:35
  use
• 37:35
  something
• 37:35
  that's
• 37:35
  sealed.
• 37:36
  So
• 37:36
  then
• 37:36
  I
• 37:36
  would
• 37:36
  go
• 37:36
  to
• 37:36
  a
• 37:37
  slab
• 37:37
  porcelain.
• 37:38
  You
• 37:39
  can
• 37:39
  go
• 37:39
  with
• 37:39
  a
• 37:39
  paper
• 37:39
  stone
• 37:40
  product.
• 37:41
  Something
• 37:41
  like
• 37:42
  that
• 37:42
  would
• 37:42
  work.
• 37:43
  But
• 37:43
  really,
• 37:44
  when
• 37:44
  you're
• 37:44
  dealing
• 37:45
  with
• 37:45
  outside
• 37:46
  stuff,
• 37:47
  you
• 37:47
  need
• 37:48
  to
• 37:48
  think
• 37:48
  about
• 37:48
  the
• 37:48
  durability
• 37:49
  of
• 37:49
  what
• 37:49
  you're
• 37:49
  looking
• 37:50
  for.
• 37:51
  Yes,
• 37:51
  you
• 37:51
  can
• 37:52
  do
• 37:52
  stainless
• 37:52
  steel.
• 37:53
  Yes,
• 37:53
  you
• 37:54
  can
• 37:54
  do
• 37:54
  it.
• 37:55
  If
• 37:55
  it
• 37:55
  gets
• 37:56
  sun,
• 37:56
  you're
• 37:56
  gonna
• 37:57
  be
• 37:57
  able
• 37:57
  to
• 37:57
  cook
• 37:57
  an
• 37:57
  egg
• 37:57
  on
• 37:58
  the
• 37:58
  dang
• 37:58
  thing
• 37:59
  because
• 37:59
  it's
• 37:59
  gonna
• 37:59
  be
• 37:59
  so
• 38:00
  hot.
• 38:01
  So
• 38:01
  you
• 38:01
  gotta
• 38:01
  think
• 38:02
  about
• 38:02
  the
• 38:02
  use
• 38:03
  and
• 38:03
  your
• 38:04
  budget.
• 38:04
  That's
• 38:05
  one
• 38:05
  of
• 38:05
  the
• 38:05
  biggest
• 38:05
  things.
• 38:05
  With
• 38:05
  this
• 38:06
  stuff
• 38:07
  you
• 38:07
  can
• 38:07
  get
• 38:07
  the
• 38:07
  paper
• 38:07
  stone
• 38:08
  production.
• 38:09
  Cut
• 38:09
  it,
• 38:09
  sand
• 38:10
  it
• 38:10
  glued
• 38:11
  up,
• 38:12
  put
• 38:12
  your
• 38:12
  seal
• 38:13
  coat
• 38:13
  on
• 38:13
  it,
• 38:13
  wax
• 38:14
  it
• 38:14
  up,
• 38:14
  call
• 38:15
  it
• 38:15
  good,
• 38:16
  make
• 38:16
  it
• 38:16
  look
• 38:16
  amazing
• 38:17
  and
• 38:17
  have
• 38:17
  something
• 38:18
  durable.
• 38:18
  Yes,
• 38:19
  you
• 38:19
  can
• 38:19
  do
• 38:19
  that
• 38:19
  as
• 38:19
  a
• 38:19
  DIY
• 38:20
  project.
• 38:21
  Butcher
• 38:21
  block,
• 38:22
  maybe.
• 38:23
  Problem
• 38:23
  is,
• 38:23
  any
• 38:24
  time
• 38:24
  that
• 38:24
  you
• 38:24
  have
• 38:26
  a
• 38:26
  surface
• 38:26
  that
• 38:26
  you
• 38:27
  want
• 38:27
  to
• 38:27
  be
• 38:27
  clean
• 38:28
  and
• 38:29
  something
• 38:29
  that's
• 38:29
  porous,
• 38:30
  it's
• 38:30
  a
• 38:30
  tough
• 38:31
  go.
• 38:31
  It's
• 38:31
  a
• 38:32
  tough
• 38:32
  go.
• 38:33
  So
• 38:33
  think
• 38:33
  about
• 38:34
  that.
• 38:34
  In
• 38:34
  my
• 38:34
  kitchen
• 38:35
  outside,
• 38:35
  I
• 38:35
  used
• 38:36
  the
• 38:36
  sintered
• 38:36
  stone,
• 38:37
  which
• 38:37
  is
• 38:37
  the
• 38:37
  slab
• 38:38
  quartz.
• 38:39
  A
• 38:39
  slab
• 38:39
  quartz
• 38:40
  slab
• 38:40
  porcelain
• 38:41
  going
• 38:42
  around
• 38:42
  the
• 38:42
  outside.
• 38:43
  Couldn't
• 38:43
  use
• 38:43
  quartz
• 38:44
  because
• 38:44
  it's
• 38:44
  outside
• 38:45
  and
• 38:45
  then
• 38:45
  down
• 38:45
  below.
• 38:46
  That
• 38:46
  was
• 38:46
  in
• 38:46
  the
• 38:46
  raised
• 38:47
  bar
• 38:47
  because
• 38:48
  I
• 38:48
  built
• 38:48
  this
• 38:48
  later.
• 38:49
  I
• 38:50
  actually
• 38:50
  built
• 38:51
  that
• 38:51
  lower
• 38:52
  section
• 38:53
  out
• 38:53
  of
• 38:53
  the
• 38:53
  paper
• 38:53
  stone
• 38:54
  because
• 38:54
  I
• 38:54
  wanted
• 38:54
  something
• 38:54
  that's
• 38:55
  going
• 38:55
  to
• 38:55
  be
• 38:55
  durable,
• 38:55
  something
• 38:55
  that
• 38:56
  was
• 38:56
  going
• 38:56
  to
• 38:56
  match
• 38:56
  that
• 38:57
  pretty
• 38:57
  well,
• 38:58
  but
• 38:58
  give
• 38:58
  myself
• 38:59
  a
• 39:00
  really
• 39:00
  nice
• 39:00
  softer
• 39:01
  surface
• 39:01
  to
• 39:02
  work
• 39:02
  with.
• 39:03
  And
• 39:03
  I
• 39:03
  really
• 39:03
  like
• 39:04
  it
• 39:04
  for
• 39:04
  that.
• 39:05
  That
• 39:05
  is
• 39:05
  something
• 39:05
  you
• 39:05
  can
• 39:06
  do.
• 39:07
  And
• 39:07
  I
• 39:07
  used
• 39:08
  power
• 39:08
  tools
• 39:08
  to
• 39:09
  finish
• 39:09
  it.
• 39:09
  Worked
• 39:09
  out
• 39:10
  great.
• 39:10
  Is
• 39:11
  it
• 39:11
  harder
• 39:11
  to
• 39:11
  work
• 39:11
  with
• 39:11
  than
• 39:12
  wood?
• 39:12
  Yeah,
• 39:12
  because
• 39:12
  it's
• 39:13
  super
• 39:13
  dense
• 39:13
  and
• 39:14
  it's
• 39:14
  heavy.
• 39:15
  But
• 39:15
  I
• 39:15
  tell
• 39:15
  you
• 39:15
  what,
• 39:16
  be
• 39:16
  careful
• 39:17
  with
• 39:17
  it
• 39:17
  too.
• 39:18
  Those
• 39:18
  little
• 39:18
  slivers
• 39:19
  you
• 39:19
  cut
• 39:19
  off
• 39:20
  or
• 39:20
  you're
• 39:20
  trimming
• 39:20
  things,
• 39:21
  be
• 39:21
  careful
• 39:22
  with
• 39:22
  that
• 39:22
  because
• 39:23
  that
• 39:23
  stuff
• 39:23
  can
• 39:23
  get
• 39:24
  as
• 39:24
  sharp
• 39:24
  as
• 39:24
  a
• 39:24
  knife.
• 39:25
  So
• 39:25
  you
• 39:25
  need
• 39:25
  to
• 39:25
  be
• 39:25
  careful
• 39:26
  with
• 39:26
  how
• 39:26
  you
• 39:26
  work
• 39:26
  with
• 39:27
  that
• 39:27
  material.
• 39:28
  It
• 39:28
  can
• 39:28
  be
• 39:28
  like
• 39:29
  glass
• 39:29
  as
• 39:29
  far
• 39:29
  as
• 39:29
  that
• 39:30
  edge
• 39:30
  being
• 39:30
  sharp.
• 39:30
  So
• 39:31
  you
• 39:31
  need
• 39:31
  to
• 39:31
  be
• 39:31
  careful
• 39:32
  with
• 39:32
  it,
• 39:32
  respect
• 39:32
  it.
• 39:33
  Tile
• 39:34
  outside
• 39:34
  can
• 39:34
  be
• 39:34
  great.
• 39:35
  You
• 39:35
  just
• 39:35
  need
• 39:35
  to
• 39:35
  work
• 39:36
  with
• 39:36
  materials
• 39:36
  that
• 39:37
  don't
• 39:37
  take
• 39:37
  on
• 39:37
  water.
• 39:39
  There's
• 39:39
  a
• 39:39
  lot
• 39:39
  of
• 39:39
  materials
• 39:40
  you
• 39:40
  can
• 39:40
  use
• 39:40
  outside
• 39:41
  these
• 39:41
  days,
• 39:42
  but
• 39:42
  there's
• 39:42
  also
• 39:43
  still
• 39:43
  a
• 39:43
  lot
• 39:43
  of
• 39:43
  ones
• 39:43
  you
• 39:43
  can't.
• 39:44
  So
• 39:44
  make
• 39:45
  sure
• 39:45
  that
• 39:45
  if
• 39:45
  you're
• 39:45
  getting
• 39:45
  something
• 39:46
  damp,
• 39:46
  even
• 39:46
  if
• 39:46
  you're
• 39:47
  wiping
• 39:47
  it
• 39:47
  down
• 39:47
  and
• 39:47
  it
• 39:48
  freezes
• 39:48
  at
• 39:48
  night,
• 39:49
  if
• 39:49
  it
• 39:49
  is
• 39:49
  porous
• 39:51
  and
• 39:51
  it's
• 39:51
  ceramic
• 39:53
  or
• 39:53
  something
• 39:53
  hard
• 39:54
  like
• 39:54
  that,
• 39:54
  it
• 39:55
  can
• 39:55
  crack.
• 39:56
  Cause
• 39:57
  pock
• 39:57
  marks.
• 39:57
  Cause
• 39:58
  finish
• 39:58
  issues,
• 39:59
  you
• 39:59
  don't
• 39:59
  want
• 39:59
  to
• 39:59
  have
• 39:59
  to
• 39:59
  deal
• 40:00
  with
• 40:00
  that.
• 40:01
  And
• 40:01
  of
• 40:01
  course,
• 40:02
  grease,
• 40:02
  if
• 40:03
  you're
• 40:03
  cooking
• 40:03
  outside,
• 40:04
  you
• 40:04
  want
• 40:04
  something
• 40:04
  that's
• 40:05
  going
• 40:05
  to
• 40:05
  stain.
• 40:06
  Wood,
• 40:07
  marble,
• 40:08
  all
• 40:08
  those
• 40:08
  issues
• 40:09
  can
• 40:09
  be
• 40:09
  just
• 40:09
  that.
• 40:10
  They
• 40:10
  can
• 40:10
  be
• 40:10
  serious
• 40:11
  issues.
• 40:11
  So
• 40:11
  think
• 40:12
  about
• 40:12
  the
• 40:12
  material,
• 40:13
  what
• 40:13
  you're
• 40:13
  going
• 40:13
  to
• 40:14
  use,
• 40:14
  what
• 40:14
  you're
• 40:14
  going
• 40:14
  to
• 40:15
  work
• 40:15
  with.
• 40:15
  And
• 40:16
  there's
• 40:17
  so
• 40:17
  much
• 40:17
  you
• 40:17
  can
• 40:18
  do
• 40:18
  nowadays,
• 40:19
  if
• 40:19
  you
• 40:19
  look
• 40:19
  at
• 40:20
  what
• 40:20
  people
• 40:20
  are
• 40:20
  doing
• 40:20
  for
• 40:21
  floors
• 40:21
  in
• 40:22
  homes
• 40:22
  or
• 40:23
  even
• 40:23
  commercial
• 40:24
  buildings,
• 40:24
  heck,
• 40:24
  I
• 40:24
  saw
• 40:24
  them
• 40:25
  use
• 40:25
  that
• 40:25
  slab
• 40:25
  porcelain.
• 40:27
  My
• 40:27
  old
• 40:27
  radio
• 40:27
  station,
• 40:28
  they
• 40:29
  were
• 40:29
  doing
• 40:29
  in
• 40:29
  the
• 40:30
  high
• 40:30
  rise,
• 40:30
  they
• 40:30
  were
• 40:30
  doing
• 40:31
  the
• 40:31
  downstairs
• 40:32
  lobby
• 40:33
  area,
• 40:33
  and
• 40:33
  they
• 40:33
  put
• 40:33
  four
• 40:34
  by
• 40:34
  eight
• 40:34
  panels
• 40:34
  down
• 40:35
  on
• 40:35
  the
• 40:35
  floor.
• 40:36
  It
• 40:36
  was
• 40:36
  incredible.
• 40:37
  Big,
• 40:37
  huge
• 40:38
  slabs.
• 40:39
  So
• 40:39
  you're
• 40:39
  seeing
• 40:40
  that
• 40:40
  more
• 40:40
  and
• 40:40
  more.
• 40:40
  And
• 40:40
  yes,
• 40:41
  you
• 40:41
  can
• 40:41
  do
• 40:41
  that
• 40:41
  with
• 40:41
  countertops.
• 40:42
  Do
• 40:43
  you
• 40:43
  need
• 40:43
  to
• 40:43
  have
• 40:43
  something
• 40:43
  to
• 40:44
  cut
• 40:44
  with?
• 40:44
  Yeah,
• 40:44
  absolutely.
• 40:46
  Do
• 40:46
  you
• 40:46
  want
• 40:46
  to
• 40:46
  keep
• 40:47
  the
• 40:47
  dust
• 40:47
  down?
• 40:47
  Yeah,
• 40:48
  absolutely.
• 40:49
  So
• 40:50
  think
• 40:50
  about
• 40:50
  that,
• 40:50
  how
• 40:51
  you're
• 40:51
  going
• 40:51
  to
• 40:51
  fabricate
• 40:51
  it
• 40:52
  and
• 40:52
  whether
• 40:52
  you're
• 40:53
  going
• 40:53
  to
• 40:53
  hire
• 40:53
  somebody
• 40:54
  or
• 40:55
  if
• 40:55
  you're
• 40:55
  going
• 40:55
  to
• 40:55
  do
• 40:55
  it
• 40:55
  yourself.
• 40:56
  Now,
• 40:57
  laminates,
• 40:58
  not
• 40:58
  the
• 40:59
  best
• 40:59
  for
• 40:59
  outside,
• 41:00
  because
• 41:01
  laminates
• 41:01
  are
• 41:01
  going
• 41:02
  to
• 41:02
  be
• 41:02
  used
• 41:02
  typically
• 41:03
  over
• 41:03
  particle
• 41:04
  board
• 41:04
  or
• 41:05
  even
• 41:05
  plywood.
• 41:06
  It's
• 41:06
  going
• 41:06
  to
• 41:06
  expand
• 41:07
  and
• 41:07
  contract.
• 41:08
  It's
• 41:08
  going
• 41:08
  to
• 41:08
  soak
• 41:08
  up
• 41:09
  humidity.
• 41:10
  It's
• 41:10
  just
• 41:10
  not
• 41:10
  going
• 41:10
  to
• 41:11
  work
• 41:11
  well.
• 41:11
  So
• 41:12
  that
• 41:12
  and
• 41:12
  wood
• 41:12
  countertops
• 41:13
  are
• 41:13
  something
• 41:13
  I
• 41:13
  wouldn't
• 41:14
  traditionally
• 41:14
  do
• 41:14
  outside.
• 41:15
  Yes,
• 41:16
  you
• 41:16
  can
• 41:16
  do
• 41:16
  stainless,
• 41:17
  you
• 41:17
  can
• 41:17
  do
• 41:18
  metal.
• 41:18
  I
• 41:19
  have.
• 41:19
  I've
• 41:19
  done
• 41:19
  copper
• 41:20
  countertops
• 41:20
  before.
• 41:20
  They
• 41:21
  look
• 41:21
  gorgeous.
• 41:22
  Problem
• 41:22
  is,
• 41:22
  if
• 41:22
  you
• 41:23
  get
• 41:23
  the
• 41:23
  wrong
• 41:24
  cleaners
• 41:24
  on
• 41:24
  there,
• 41:24
  you're
• 41:24
  going
• 41:25
  to
• 41:25
  polish
• 41:25
  up
• 41:25
  the
• 41:25
  area
• 41:25
  that
• 41:26
  patina
• 41:26
  doubt,
• 41:27
  and
• 41:27
  it's
• 41:27
  going
• 41:27
  to
• 41:27
  stick
• 41:28
  out
• 41:28
  like
• 41:28
  a
• 41:28
  sore
• 41:28
  thumb.
• 41:29
  So
• 41:30
  you
• 41:30
  want
• 41:30
  to
• 41:30
  make
• 41:30
  sure
• 41:30
  that
• 41:31
  you've
• 41:31
  got
• 41:31
  with
• 41:32
  a
• 41:32
  copper
• 41:32
  countertop
• 41:33
  that
• 41:33
  it's
• 41:33
  done
• 41:33
  correctly.
• 41:34
  It's
• 41:35
  got
• 41:35
  a
• 41:35
  wood
• 41:35
  base
• 41:35
  underneath
• 41:36
  it
• 41:36
  and
• 41:37
  it's
• 41:37
  bent
• 41:37
  over
• 41:38
  the
• 41:38
  top
• 41:38
  of
• 41:38
  that.
• 41:38
  It
• 41:39
  can
• 41:39
  look
• 41:39
  absolutely
• 41:40
  gorgeous.
• 41:42
  But
• 41:42
  you're
• 41:42
  not
• 41:42
  going
• 41:42
  to
• 41:43
  want
• 41:43
  to
• 41:43
  keep
• 41:43
  that
• 41:43
  looking
• 41:43
  like
• 41:43
  a
• 41:44
  fresh
• 41:44
  copper
• 41:44
  penny
• 41:44
  all
• 41:45
  the
• 41:45
  time
• 41:45
  because
• 41:46
  you're
• 41:46
  not
• 41:46
  going
• 41:46
  to
• 41:46
  want
• 41:46
  to
• 41:46
  polish
• 41:46
  it.
• 41:47
  But
• 41:47
  when
• 41:48
  it
• 41:48
  starts
• 41:48
  to
• 41:48
  get
• 41:48
  green
• 41:49
  and
• 41:49
  brown
• 41:49
  and
• 41:49
  get
• 41:50
  all
• 41:50
  those
• 41:50
  cool
• 41:50
  colors,
• 41:50
  it
• 41:51
  can
• 41:51
  look
• 41:51
  awesome.
• 41:52
  So
• 41:53
  when
• 41:53
  you're
• 41:53
  thinking
• 41:54
  about
• 41:54
  countertops,
• 41:55
  the
• 41:55
  other
• 41:55
  Thing
• 41:55
  is,
• 41:55
  you
• 41:56
  need
• 41:56
  to
• 41:56
  plan
• 41:56
  your

  backsplash
• 41:57
  at
• 41:58
  the
• 41:58
  same
• 41:58
  time.
• 41:59
  What
• 41:59
  are
• 41:59
  you
• 41:59
  using
• 41:59
  to
• 41:59
  protect
• 42:00
  that?
• 42:01
  So
• 42:01
  make
• 42:01
  sure
• 42:02
  that
• 42:02
  you've
• 42:02
  got
• 42:03
  that
• 42:03
  material.
• 42:04
  Look
• 42:04
  at
• 42:04
  a
• 42:04
  bigger
• 42:05
  piece
• 42:05
  of
• 42:05
  it.
• 42:05
  If
• 42:05
  you've
• 42:05
  got
• 42:05
  just
• 42:06
  a
• 42:06
  little
• 42:06
  tiny
• 42:06
  piece,
• 42:07
  go
• 42:08
  down
• 42:08
  and
• 42:08
  head
• 42:08
  down
• 42:09
  to
• 42:09
  your
• 42:09
  slab
• 42:09
  yard
• 42:10
  to
• 42:11
  the
• 42:11
  material
• 42:11
  place.
• 42:11
  Go
• 42:12
  take
• 42:12
  a
• 42:12
  look
• 42:12
  at
• 42:12
  the
• 42:12
  full
• 42:13
  size
• 42:13
  piece
• 42:13
  so
• 42:13
  you
• 42:14
  understand
• 42:14
  the
• 42:14
  scale
• 42:15
  of
• 42:15
  it.
• 42:16
  So
• 42:16
  many
• 42:16
  times
• 42:16
  you'll
• 42:16
  see
• 42:17
  a
• 42:17
  small
• 42:17
  piece,
• 42:17
  it's
• 42:18
  maybe
• 42:18
  a
• 42:18
  6
• 42:18
  by
• 42:18
  6
• 42:19
  or
• 42:19
  an
• 42:19
  8
• 42:19
  by
• 42:19
  8
• 42:19
  section.
• 42:20
  When
• 42:20
  you're
• 42:21
  out
• 42:21
  shopping
• 42:21
  and
• 42:21
  all
• 42:21
  of
• 42:21
  a
• 42:22
  sudden
• 42:22
  you're
• 42:22
  like,
• 42:22
  I
• 42:22
  had
• 42:22
  no
• 42:23
  idea
• 42:23
  that
• 42:23
  had
• 42:24
  a
• 42:24
  big
• 42:24
  leopard
• 42:24
  pattern
• 42:25
  in
• 42:25
  it.
• 42:26
  Couldn't
• 42:26
  see
• 42:26
  it
• 42:27
  from
• 42:27
  the
• 42:27
  countertop
• 42:28
  sample
• 42:28
  that
• 42:29
  I
• 42:29
  had.
• 42:30
  So
• 42:30
  always
• 42:30
  go
• 42:31
  down,
• 42:31
  get
• 42:32
  your
• 42:32
  eyeballs
• 42:33
  on
• 42:33
  it
• 42:33
  and
• 42:34
  take
• 42:34
  a
• 42:34
  look.
• 42:35
  And
• 42:35
  that
• 42:36
  way
• 42:36
  you
• 42:36
  can
• 42:37
  really
• 42:37
  find
• 42:37
  out
• 42:38
  what
• 42:38
  the
• 42:38
  right
• 42:38
  material
• 42:39
  is
• 42:39
  going
• 42:39
  to
• 42:39
  look
• 42:39
  like
• 42:39
  in
• 42:40
  your
• 42:40
  spot.
• 42:40
  If
• 42:41
  you've
• 42:41
  got
• 42:41
  a
• 42:41
  designer,
• 42:42
  maybe
• 42:42
  they
• 42:43
  can
• 42:43
  take
• 42:43
  some
• 42:43
  pictures
• 42:43
  of
• 42:44
  it.
• 42:44
  I
• 42:44
  have
• 42:45
  had
• 42:45
  companies
• 42:46
  in
• 42:46
  the
• 42:46
  past
• 42:46
  and
• 42:47
  there's
• 42:47
  probably
• 42:47
  one
• 42:48
  in
• 42:48
  your
• 42:48
  area
• 42:49
  that
• 42:49
  will
• 42:50
  take
• 42:50
  pictures
• 42:50
  of
• 42:50
  the
• 42:51
  slab
• 42:51
  material.
• 42:52
  And
• 42:52
  if
• 42:53
  you
• 42:53
  are
• 42:53
  doing
• 42:53
  a
• 42:54
  kitchen,
• 42:54
  for
• 42:54
  instance,
• 42:55
  or
• 42:55
  an
• 42:55
  outdoor
• 42:55
  kitchen,
• 42:56
  you
• 42:56
  got
• 42:56
  some
• 42:56
  big
• 42:56
  pieces.
• 42:57
  I
• 42:58
  have
• 42:58
  done
• 42:58
  virtual
• 42:59
  layouts
• 42:59
  with
• 43:00
  that
• 43:00
  so
• 43:01
  they
• 43:01
  take
• 43:01
  a
• 43:01
  picture
• 43:02
  of
• 43:02
  that
• 43:02
  material
• 43:03
  and
• 43:03
  they
• 43:04
  actually
• 43:04
  do
• 43:04
  a
• 43:04
  layout
• 43:05
  with
• 43:05
  it
• 43:05
  so
• 43:05
  you
• 43:06
  can
• 43:06
  see
• 43:07
  where
• 43:07
  the
• 43:07
  pattern
• 43:07
  is.
• 43:08
  Because
• 43:08
  the
• 43:09
  worst
• 43:09
  thing
• 43:09
  is
• 43:09
  if
• 43:09
  you've
• 43:09
  got
• 43:10
  a
• 43:10
  big
• 43:10
  sink
• 43:11
  in
• 43:11
  a
• 43:11
  island,
• 43:12
  for
• 43:12
  instance,
• 43:12
  but
• 43:13
  you
• 43:13
  want
• 43:13
  that
• 43:13
  island
• 43:13
  to
• 43:14
  be
• 43:14
  your
• 43:14
  big
• 43:15
  chest,
• 43:16
  awesome
• 43:17
  statement
• 43:17
  piece.
• 43:18
  You
• 43:18
  don't
• 43:19
  want
• 43:19
  the
• 43:19
  sink
• 43:19
  cut
• 43:19
  out
• 43:20
  to
• 43:20
  be
• 43:20
  right
• 43:20
  smack
• 43:21
  dab
• 43:21
  in
• 43:21
  the
• 43:21
  most
• 43:21
  beautiful
• 43:22
  spot
• 43:22
  of
• 43:22
  it.
• 43:22
  And
• 43:23
  yeah,
• 43:23
  there
• 43:23
  are
• 43:23
  other
• 43:24
  materials
• 43:24
  out
• 43:24
  there
• 43:25
  where
• 43:25
  they're
• 43:25
  taking
• 43:26
  geodes
• 43:27
  and
• 43:28
  glass.
• 43:29
  And
• 43:29
  there's
• 43:30
  so
• 43:30
  many
• 43:30
  different
• 43:31
  materials
• 43:31
  out
• 43:31
  there
• 43:31
  you
• 43:32
  can
• 43:32
  use
• 43:33
  that
• 43:33
  are
• 43:33
  probably
• 43:33
  not
• 43:34
  as
• 43:34
  common.
• 43:35
  But
• 43:36
  that
• 43:36
  semi
• 43:36
  precious
• 43:37
  stones,
• 43:38
  you
• 43:38
  can
• 43:38
  backlight.
• 43:39
  That
• 43:40
  quartzite
• 43:41
  you
• 43:41
  could
• 43:42
  backlight
• 43:42
  sometimes.
• 43:43
  All
• 43:43
  these
• 43:43
  different
• 43:44
  materials
• 43:44
  you
• 43:44
  can
• 43:45
  use.
• 43:45
  You
• 43:45
  can
• 43:45
  do
• 43:45
  waterfall
• 43:46
  edges
• 43:46
  that
• 43:46
  go
• 43:47
  to
• 43:47
  the
• 43:47
  ground.
• 43:48
  Just
• 43:48
  keep
• 43:48
  in
• 43:48
  mind
• 43:49
  you're
• 43:49
  adding
• 43:49
  those
• 43:49
  square
• 43:50
  footage.
• 43:50
  You
• 43:50
  want
• 43:51
  to
• 43:51
  make
• 43:51
  sure
• 43:51
  that
• 43:51
  you've
• 43:51
  got
• 43:51
  a
• 43:52
  material
• 43:52
  that's
• 43:52
  going
• 43:52
  to
• 43:52
  be
• 43:52
  durable.
• 43:54
  And
• 43:54
  if
• 43:54
  it's
• 43:54
  opaque,
• 43:55
  backlight
• 43:56
  it
• 43:56
  with
• 43:56
  LEDs.
• 43:57
  This
• 43:57
  time
• 43:58
  it's
• 43:59
  so
• 43:59
  much
• 43:59
  easier
• 43:59
  than
• 43:59
  it
• 44:00
  was
• 44:00
  15
• 44:00
  years
• 44:00
  ago.
• 44:01
  You
• 44:01
  can
• 44:01
  really
• 44:01
  do
• 44:02
  some
• 44:02
  cool
• 44:02
  lighting
• 44:03
  and
• 44:03
  really
• 44:03
  make
• 44:03
  it
• 44:04
  glow,
• 44:04
  which
• 44:05
  is
• 44:05
  something
• 44:05
  that's
• 44:06
  super,
• 44:06
  super
• 44:06
  cool.
• 44:07
  All
• 44:07
  right,
• 44:08
  guys,
• 44:08
