- 2:08Speaker 8: is soon? What you're trying to do?
- 2:11Speaker 4: That's a ringtone right there, Buba.
- 2:13Speaker 8: That's a fire song.
- 2:14Speaker 4: By the way, it is a sire song.
- 2:16Speaker 8: I got to tell you. Since I told our listeners
- 2:19Speaker 8: about it and you remind you about it, I've been
- 2:21Speaker 8: singing it NonStop. It's like, you know how you usually
- 2:24Speaker 8: get like a summer hooky song in your head. My
- 2:26Speaker 8: summer hooky song in my head is what you're trying
- 2:28Speaker 8: to get in.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I'm that's amazing because twenty years ago your summer song
- 2:34Speaker 4: was turn me inside out. So I can't speak because
- 2:38Speaker 4: you're everywhere to me.
- 2:42Speaker 8: When I went, I got out. Michelle Branch knows how
- 2:46Speaker 8: many shout outs she gets on this podcast.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Yeah, she should know, because she's not alone.
- 2:51Speaker 8: Oh oh, I I think Michelle Branch must be aware
- 2:58Speaker 8: that how many times over the years I've spoken about her.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Do you think Michelle Branch gives two ships about us?
- 3:03Speaker 8: Do you think yes. I think Michelle Branch likes any
- 3:06Speaker 8: people that are talking about a song she wrote twenty
- 3:08Speaker 8: years ago.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I hear that, man, I learn what happened to her.
- 3:12Speaker 4: She joined a so she she I think she got married,
- 3:15Speaker 4: had kids, joined a band.
- 3:16Speaker 8: Doesn't mean she gave up her musical she did.
- 3:19Speaker 11: She was.
- 3:19Speaker 4: She's in a band right now. It's her and another
- 3:21Speaker 4: young lady and they do a they do music together.
- 3:23Speaker 8: But fuck would they do as long as they cover.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Every to me, they do very they do, uh that
- 3:31Speaker 4: very good. Casey put me onto them because you know
- 3:33Speaker 4: how Casey works in music sometimes, and she put me
- 3:36Speaker 4: onto them and was like, yo, she's dope. She joined
- 3:39Speaker 4: a band.
- 3:39Speaker 8: I rocked. I rock out to her in my trouble.
- 3:41Speaker 8: You know, I've be thinking about putting my my my
- 3:43Speaker 8: sort of girl pop workout list on the on on
- 3:46Speaker 8: on the web, so people can do that ship. Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 8: do that ship, yeah, because iTunes needs that. Yeah, people listen.
- 3:53Speaker 8: I can never find a workout playlist that suits my needs.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Right.
- 3:57Speaker 8: A lot of people clearly agree with you on on
- 4:00Speaker 8: rap and hip hop because if you go on like
- 4:04Speaker 8: the standard playlist on iTunes or wherever, they're all like
- 4:08Speaker 8: ninety five percent that and and like Hits one is
- 4:12Speaker 8: all like stuff. I don't listen to like Wu Tang.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Do you don't listen to the Wu Tang.
- 4:16Speaker 8: I don't listen to. No, I don't listen to Wu Tang.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Do you know who? But you know who method man is?
- 4:20Speaker 8: Yeah? Of course he was in Garden State.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's right, that's right. But you know he's in it.
- 4:24Speaker 4: You do know that he is in a band with
- 4:26Speaker 4: about twelve people, four other Wu Tang members.
- 4:31Speaker 8: There's Wu, there's Tang, there's clan.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I'm gonna say some names and you're gonna be like, oh, yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 4: I've heard of them, of course, A dirty bastard.
- 4:44Speaker 8: Of course I've heard of him. He was, he was,
- 4:46Speaker 8: he died right, Yes, he did. The Rizza, Yeah, I've heard.
- 4:50Speaker 8: I can picture him, dude, the riz We hung out
- 4:52Speaker 8: with him one night and you spell it Rza. I
- 4:55Speaker 8: know that.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we hung out at chateau. He came through and
- 4:57Speaker 4: kicked it with us that night. We would hang You're
- 4:59Speaker 4: not supposed to talk about chateau on this actually, so
- 5:01Speaker 4: let me take that back. Oh, you know what happens
- 5:03Speaker 4: at the chateau is supposed to stay at the chateau
- 5:05Speaker 4: right now.
- 5:06Speaker 8: You can't be dropping chateau things. I hung out with
- 5:08Speaker 8: Drake at the chateau.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Once you see, look at you spilling the beans.
- 5:11Speaker 8: Okay, get ahead. Who else? Rizza odv method Man, method Man,
- 5:17Speaker 8: ghost face Killer, Yeah, I've heard of him. I can't
- 5:19Speaker 8: picture his face. I can't be you. God, you God,
- 5:22Speaker 8: I don't know you God. The jizzer, I don't know
- 5:26Speaker 8: the jizza.
- 5:26Speaker 4: That's the genius, uh inspector deck.
- 5:30Speaker 8: There you go. Wow, there's a big band. A lot
- 5:32Speaker 8: of people in this band.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's a huge band.
- 5:35Speaker 8: You really like their music a lot?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Are you kidding me? I smoke on the mic, like
- 5:39Speaker 4: smoking Joe Frazier, the hell Raiser, raising hell with the flavor,
- 5:43Speaker 4: terrorizing jams, like troops in Pakistan, swinging through your town,
- 5:46Speaker 4: like your neighborhood spy. The man so armed, TikTok keep ticking.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Come on now, you don't know nothing about the wu
- 5:52Speaker 4: tang okay yo e t h o d man e
- 5:58Speaker 4: t h o d man. Hey, you get off my cloud.
- 6:03Speaker 4: You don't know me, and you don't know my style.
- 6:06Speaker 4: You don't notice.
- 6:07Speaker 6: No.
- 6:07Speaker 8: I have a question though, when you when you have
- 6:09Speaker 8: a big like rap supergroup like that. Are there?
- 6:11Speaker 4: They all dirty? Baby? I got your money, don't you bury?
- 6:17Speaker 8: I said, hey, I know that song. Yeah, that's before
- 6:21Speaker 8: you go into another song. I have a question. Do
- 6:23Speaker 8: they all take turns like I'm gonna rap now? All right,
- 6:26Speaker 8: now you're up you rap now that kind of thing
- 6:28Speaker 8: like like like they take turns.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Well, some of them have like a connection. So remember
- 6:33Speaker 4: run DMC growing.
- 6:34Speaker 8: Up, Yes, right, yes, yes, yes, the Adidas my.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Adidas, right, those two had a connection. So when they rapped,
- 6:41Speaker 4: they could when they rhyme, they could bounce off of
- 6:44Speaker 4: each other. Some people it's like you and I, how
- 6:46Speaker 4: we have a good uh how we have good chemistry?
- 6:49Speaker 4: Same thing with rappers, right, and you look for when
- 6:52Speaker 4: you're a rapper, you look for that person that you
- 6:54Speaker 4: have chemistry. Drake and Future have really good chemistry together.
- 6:57Speaker 4: So they do a lot of records together. And so
- 7:00Speaker 4: it's the same thing you know, uh in in the
- 7:02Speaker 4: Wu Tang because it was so big, the WU is
- 7:05Speaker 4: so big, there are little tiny groups with inside the
- 7:09Speaker 4: sub groups within the WU. Right, So ghost Face and
- 7:13Speaker 4: uh ghost Face and Ray Kwana Chef. That's the one
- 7:17Speaker 4: I forgot to mention I should have put Ray Kuana.
- 7:19Speaker 4: He got the best. He got probably the best bill
- 7:21Speaker 4: for Cuban Linx is probably the best Wu Tang record
- 7:26Speaker 4: in my opinion. It's got so many good songs on it. Anyway,
- 7:30Speaker 4: ghost Face and Ray Kwan do very well together and
- 7:33Speaker 4: on record they bounce off of each other very well.
- 7:36Speaker 8: So they're now who's your favorite if you had to
- 7:40Speaker 8: pick one member of the Wu Tang clan, that's like
- 7:42Speaker 8: your favorite rapper in the group.
- 7:45Speaker 4: The Jizz, the Genius, I like him a lot. I
- 7:49Speaker 4: liked o dB a lot. I like I like Meth
- 7:54Speaker 4: Method man, I like I like all of you. To
- 7:56Speaker 4: be honest, are they still?
- 7:57Speaker 8: Are they still? Like ghost Face got somebod these still
- 8:01Speaker 8: When when the world's normal, do they still tour?
- 8:03Speaker 4: I hope. So it's a lot of egos, man, it's
- 8:06Speaker 4: a lot of them, man, how do you do that?
- 8:08Speaker 4: How do you that's like? Look, the Jackson five couldn't
- 8:10Speaker 4: stay together and they were brothers. How do you do me?
- 8:13Speaker 8: When we go on when we go on the road
- 8:15Speaker 8: eventually touring this show, I feel like your ego is
- 8:18Speaker 8: gonna soar like an eagle out of control.
- 8:21Speaker 4: It depends on if they you're gonna want, You're.
- 8:23Speaker 8: Gonna have demands you're gonna have and your rider. There's
- 8:27Speaker 8: gonna be all sorts of rules, no eye contact.
- 8:30Speaker 4: It all depends on how loud they applaud for me.
- 8:33Speaker 4: If they applaud for you louder, then they applaud for me.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I feel like I'll fall into a little you know,
- 8:38Speaker 4: back into a way.
- 8:39Speaker 8: We're gonna d go and.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Applaud for me more than they applaud for you. You
- 8:43Speaker 4: damn right, man, I want my bus to be bigger.
- 8:46Speaker 8: Yeah, we're gonna measure up. We're gonna have the same bus.
- 8:48Speaker 8: Listen when Dan, we're gonna bring Dan and Joel, and
- 8:51Speaker 8: Dan's gonna bring his thunderous applause button, so we'll get
- 8:55Speaker 8: to augment whatever the crowd does. We'll be able to
- 8:58Speaker 8: augment the audience. You ever, we're looking at an award
- 9:00Speaker 8: show and you hear the applause on an award show,
- 9:03Speaker 8: and then you look around and no one's clapping, like
- 9:05Speaker 8: like like no one in an award show is paying attention,
- 9:08Speaker 8: so that they they'd be like a third of them clapping,
- 9:10Speaker 8: so they just augment all this thunderous applause. Well that's
- 9:13Speaker 8: gonna be what Dan is doing for us when we're
- 9:15Speaker 8: on tour with this show.
- 9:17Speaker 4: So before we before we start the show, Dan will
- 9:20Speaker 4: be like, all right, so I need some thunderous applause
- 9:22Speaker 4: from you guys. Okay, everybody, and now I need some laughter,
- 9:25Speaker 4: need some laughter.
- 9:26Speaker 8: No, no, no, bro, He's just gonna bring it. It'll
- 9:30Speaker 8: be it'll be a it'll be a button.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Well, hell yeah, he's gonna be. He's gonna bring it.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Dan always brings it.
- 9:35Speaker 8: Yeah, Dan's gonna bring it, dude, He's.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Gonna bring it. Of course he brings it. We're gonna
- 9:41Speaker 4: we're gonna go to the applause.
- 9:43Speaker 8: I think we're probably gonna play arenas and and we're
- 9:47Speaker 8: gonna and we're gonna need to do sound checks at
- 9:49Speaker 8: these arenas.
- 9:50Speaker 4: If we play arenas, imagine that. Imagine we go to London. Yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 4: and what's the big arena to the O two two
- 9:57Speaker 4: and we play the O two That would be the
- 10:01Speaker 4: best day of my life. I'm gonna tell you something
- 10:03Speaker 4: right now, London.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Make it happen.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Listen, make it happen. Let's put it out there like
- 10:07Speaker 4: I'm secret that shit.
- 10:08Speaker 12: Listen.
- 10:08Speaker 8: I'm sure, I'm sure we're gonna be playing like four
- 10:11Speaker 8: hundred seat theaters. But in reality, let's secret it that
- 10:14Speaker 8: we sell out the O two arena for fake doctor's
- 10:17Speaker 8: real friends.
- 10:17Speaker 4: That would be the best. That would be the best
- 10:19Speaker 4: night of my life.
- 10:21Speaker 8: Listen, you gotta put ship out there. You gotta put
- 10:24Speaker 8: outrage of ship out there and make it come true.
- 10:27Speaker 8: Remember I told you about the whiteboard. You get a
- 10:29Speaker 8: whiteboard and you write the most outrageous ship you want
- 10:33Speaker 8: to have happened in your life, and you look at
- 10:35Speaker 8: it every single day.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Who'd you say, did that?
- 10:39Speaker 8: Well? I have a lot of people in my life
- 10:40Speaker 8: and told me this. But the great the anecdote I
- 10:43Speaker 8: referenced on the show was I'm friends with John, a
- 10:46Speaker 8: Legends manager, and they her name is Tay and they
- 10:49Speaker 8: went to a high school together. And she said when
- 10:52Speaker 8: he first started, they got a big whiteboard and they
- 10:55Speaker 8: were putting them out. They were like, let's be outraged,
- 10:57Speaker 8: like I don't know, cover of Time magazine, like this
- 10:59Speaker 8: may Grammys. They were like sitting there laughing about the
- 11:02Speaker 8: outrageous shit they were putting on this whiteboard. And she
- 11:05Speaker 8: turned to me and she said, every single thing on
- 11:07Speaker 8: that whiteboard happened and she said. Now I do whiteboards
- 11:11Speaker 8: with all my clients, and like, you know, so anyway,
- 11:13Speaker 8: it's about manifesting, it's about making shit happen. I have
- 11:16Speaker 8: a whiteboard in my bedroom and I'll some things on
- 11:20Speaker 8: there are like goals I have, and some things on
- 11:22Speaker 8: there are like outrageous. I mean, obviously we're not gonna
- 11:25Speaker 8: sell it outs arena, but I'm saying you can.
- 11:26Speaker 4: You can no put that shit on the board. It
- 11:28Speaker 4: could happen. It happened for John Legend. Man, the dude's
- 11:31Speaker 4: got egot. He got the egot. Let's make it happen.
- 11:34Speaker 13: Dude.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Well, maybe we'd have to bring John Legend if it was,
- 11:36Speaker 8: like if we opened for John Legend, let's do it.
- 11:41Speaker 8: Let's call on Legend. Yeah, man, listen, the guy's got
- 11:43Speaker 8: an egot. Okay, so put your egot on your board.
- 11:46Speaker 8: I believe in it because you look at the board
- 11:47Speaker 8: every day, and even in your subconscious brain, your mind
- 11:52Speaker 8: is going, I'm gonna find a way to work on
- 11:54Speaker 8: that today. I'm gonna make that call I'm afraid to make.
- 11:57Speaker 8: I'm gonna. You know, for some people, it's fit. They're like,
- 12:00Speaker 8: you know what, I just looked at that whiteboard, and
- 12:02Speaker 8: I gotta get on the treadmill today, I promise myself.
- 12:04Speaker 4: That's what's saying.
- 12:05Speaker 8: No, I like you.
- 12:06Speaker 4: I'm I'm gonna put the whiteboard in my in my bedroom,
- 12:08Speaker 4: get the white share it with Casey. I'm gonna be
- 12:11Speaker 4: like baby, let's put the most outrageous yes on this board.
- 12:14Speaker 8: I'm telling you, listeners, this is the you know, Brene
- 12:16Speaker 8: Brown very popular. This is our Brene Brown moment. This
- 12:20Speaker 8: is our self help motivational moment on Fake Doctor's Real Friends.
- 12:24Speaker 8: You can make anything happen.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Okay, dude, I love this. I love this. I love you.
- 12:30Speaker 4: I love that we did this together, the four of
- 12:33Speaker 4: us and our and our listeners. Yeah, let's make that
- 12:36Speaker 4: shit happen. Let's I have a sweatshirt on.
- 12:38Speaker 8: Today because my wife is those Bieber things.
- 12:41Speaker 4: No, it's Mickey Mouse, you know.
- 12:43Speaker 8: My my my forty something crisis is being managed by
- 12:48Speaker 8: just getting lots of tattoos.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Nice.
- 12:50Speaker 6: Good for you, man.
- 12:51Speaker 8: I was always afraid to get tattoos because my father
- 12:53Speaker 8: hated them. And when my sister died, I got her
- 12:56Speaker 8: name in Hebrew on my on my arm, and my
- 12:59Speaker 8: father kind of like was okay with that because it
- 13:02Speaker 8: was you know, meaningful, and it was Hebrew. And then
- 13:04Speaker 8: when he passed away, like I realized that so much.
- 13:07Speaker 8: Even though I was in my forties, I still was
- 13:09Speaker 8: so nervous about what my father would think. And then
- 13:12Speaker 8: I was like, all right, it's time to fucking tattoo
- 13:14Speaker 8: the ship out of myself right on.
- 13:15Speaker 4: So you're gonna have a sleep soon.
- 13:17Speaker 8: Well, I don't know about a sleep, But where do
- 13:18Speaker 8: you want your face? When I get it? I was
- 13:20Speaker 8: thinking my left ariola.
- 13:21Speaker 4: I was thinking your face for sure?
- 13:23Speaker 8: What if I did you on my pictoralus major and
- 13:26Speaker 8: now listen and then your mouth was open, but then
- 13:29Speaker 8: in your mouth was my left ariola.
- 13:32Speaker 4: That's weird. That's weird. I prefer you just got my
- 13:36Speaker 4: face on your face, like you took my face and
- 13:39Speaker 4: tattooed it on your faces. About no, I didn't say,
- 13:44Speaker 4: on his whole face, like my face on his cheeks.
- 13:46Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 13:47Speaker 8: I don't know. I don't jellify his black face. If
- 13:51Speaker 8: I jump.
- 13:53Speaker 15: Joe, can you.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Imagine all you can pick up his him pain my
- 14:00Speaker 4: face on his face. It wouldn't be face off text,
- 14:04Speaker 4: but like a tattoo for it man, right.
- 14:06Speaker 8: No, it would be an outline, Joelle, Joelle, it would
- 14:09Speaker 8: be an outline. Joel's like, now managing all of our
- 14:11Speaker 8: black face issues. She's like, guys, sounding like that might
- 14:14Speaker 8: be black face. Hey, guys, I got to chime in here.
- 14:18Speaker 8: That sounds like it might be black face, Joelle. Would
- 14:20Speaker 8: be an outline. It wouldn't be like colored in, it
- 14:22Speaker 8: would be it would be an outline of Donald's face.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Well, I would just want it on your cheek or
- 14:27Speaker 4: on your forehead, you know.
- 14:28Speaker 8: Any Way, the guy tattoos me told me that we
- 14:32Speaker 8: were talking about all these young kids that are getting
- 14:33Speaker 8: tattoos on their face and how ridiculous it is. And
- 14:36Speaker 8: he said that he's really surprised that any of these
- 14:38Speaker 8: artists are doing it because there's sort of this unwritten
- 14:41Speaker 8: code amongst tattoo artists that you would never put a
- 14:44Speaker 8: tattoo on a on a young person's face, right and
- 14:48Speaker 8: and because for obvious reasons, and he said, and now
- 14:52Speaker 8: that there's this fad of it happening, he thinks that
- 14:55Speaker 8: they're all just doing it for Instagram fame, because these
- 14:58Speaker 8: kids are often you know, famous people, and they're doing
- 15:03Speaker 8: it saying fuck it, I'm gonna get my fifteen minutes
- 15:05Speaker 8: of fame. But you know, obviously, get these young people
- 15:07Speaker 8: that are all tattooing the share of their faces.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Dude, you might not be able to get the money later,
- 15:11Speaker 4: you know what I mean, Get the money now if
- 15:12Speaker 4: you can. That's that's the that's the yolo man. You
- 15:15Speaker 4: only live once.
- 15:16Speaker 8: You know, Oh, you would tattoo a child's face, Donald.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I'm not. First of all, I am not a tattoo artist,
- 15:23Speaker 4: so I'll never have to put myself in this situation.
- 15:25Speaker 8: You just told these guys and tattoo someone's face.
- 15:28Speaker 4: I'm saying, the reasoning behind it is this, dude, do
- 15:32Speaker 4: you You don't listen. If scrubs didn't happen, you don't
- 15:36Speaker 4: know what you would have done to make them to
- 15:37Speaker 4: make ends meet. If you're acting, if you're acting and
- 15:40Speaker 4: directing stuff, you know what I mean? You could have
- 15:42Speaker 4: gone into a business that you might not be proud of.
- 15:45Speaker 4: You might be, but might Instagram model right now and
- 15:50Speaker 4: a dong talking about followers.
- 15:53Speaker 8: I love how these girls Instagram influenced people. They took
- 15:57Speaker 8: like a little time off for COVID and the Black
- 16:00Speaker 8: Lives Matter movement, and now they're all back fucking tushes
- 16:03Speaker 8: in the air, selling tea on some yacht and a visa.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Oh my god, yolo. Nobody says yolo anymore, whether they.
- 16:16Speaker 8: Say these days, I don't know TikTok dancing.
- 16:19Speaker 4: I've been inside so long. I have no idea what
- 16:22Speaker 4: the kids are saying while they're all.
- 16:23Speaker 8: On some old guy's yacht doing a TikTok dance. But
- 16:26Speaker 8: you know what, they must have put that shit on
- 16:29Speaker 8: the whiteboard.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Imagine that was on the whiteboard. Imagine that's the white board.
- 16:36Speaker 4: You want to be.
- 16:37Speaker 8: That's their fucking whiteboard. I want to be on a yacht,
- 16:40Speaker 8: having somebody pay for it, making that Instagram money.
- 16:44Speaker 4: That's what's up. That's what right Hey there it is.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Go for yours, listen. That's what I say to everybody
- 16:51Speaker 4: and anybody out there who has dreams and they want fame.
- 16:55Speaker 4: As long as you don't disrespect nobody or hurt nobody,
- 16:58Speaker 4: go for yours. Man.
- 16:59Speaker 8: Yeah, but if you can try and go for something
- 17:01Speaker 8: that contributes to society in some meaningful way.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Sure you can find yourself later on. You got everybody
- 17:06Speaker 4: had something to say.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I miss you so much at her I miss you
- 17:10Speaker 8: so much more, dude, should we get into the show.
- 17:11Speaker 8: Tom Kavanaugh's here. I'm so excited about County seeing.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Six Stories. I'm that show we made about a bunch
- 17:22Speaker 4: of dogs and nurses. Here's the stories new so gather here,
- 17:33Speaker 4: yead here.
- 17:35Speaker 8: But what a show, What a show we have today, Donald,
- 17:42Speaker 8: it's a really good episode and the hilarious Tom kavanaughs here.
- 17:46Speaker 8: We have so much to say. Let's just get in. Dan,
- 17:49Speaker 8: allow him into the room. Here he comes. I haven't
- 17:52Speaker 8: seen him in years. I haven't seen him in years.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Tom call.
- 17:58Speaker 8: Some clause.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Dan thunders, of course, look at how handsome you.
- 18:02Speaker 8: It's like, look at you and look at them, man like,
- 18:06Speaker 8: look at the mirror.
- 18:07Speaker 16: It's that's that's pandemic.
- 18:09Speaker 4: You've got the pandemic face going on. Now.
- 18:11Speaker 8: You did get more handsome with age, Tom Cavanaugh, and
- 18:14Speaker 8: I can say that because people think we look alike.
- 18:17Speaker 16: This is true.
- 18:17Speaker 6: I can say, likewise, my friend, look at you guys,
- 18:20Speaker 6: My goodness, gracious, I'm so good, so good to see
- 18:23Speaker 6: your faces, holy man, see yours.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Are you living in Canada or do you live in
- 18:28Speaker 4: the US?
- 18:29Speaker 6: Still well, I live in New York, but I film
- 18:31Speaker 6: a show in Canada, And uh, when the pandemic hit.
- 18:35Speaker 6: I stuck it up North. Hi, Joel, I'm Tom. By
- 18:38Speaker 6: the way, I'm nice to meet you in person. I
- 18:42Speaker 6: listened to you guys, so I've sort of been.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Familiar with that.
- 18:45Speaker 13: Do you know what?
- 18:45Speaker 4: I watch your show? Right, you know, I watch your show.
- 18:48Speaker 6: I don't know that, but I know you have like
- 18:50Speaker 6: twenty seven children, so I figure maybe in that demo
- 18:53Speaker 6: some well but no, not watching it for his kids.
- 18:55Speaker 8: He's watching it for him.
- 18:56Speaker 4: So for me, I love the flash, Dude, are you
- 18:59Speaker 4: kidding me? That's got a dynamite cast?
- 19:04Speaker 8: Donald is your target demo? Tom? He watches all of
- 19:06Speaker 8: this stuff. C W is a bunch of teams.
- 19:11Speaker 4: How does how did listen?
- 19:13Speaker 12: Man?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Are you? Is this the only listen?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Man?
- 19:16Speaker 4: Is this the only wells?
- 19:18Speaker 17: Now?
- 19:18Speaker 4: Are you the only?
- 19:19Speaker 6: Is this?
- 19:20Speaker 4: Is this the final Wells? Because the Mosi Verse, the
- 19:23Speaker 4: crisis happened, and everything happened, you know, and there's only
- 19:26Speaker 4: what like four earths five earths now in the whole
- 19:29Speaker 4: arrow verse, and now Supergirl lives on Earth one with
- 19:33Speaker 4: you guys, And I don't know. My point is, My.
- 19:38Speaker 8: Point is, let the man fucking speak, dude, No, no, no,
- 19:41Speaker 8: keep going. He's getting worked up to.
- 19:43Speaker 4: You're really excited. But I really do love the show.
- 19:45Speaker 4: I really do love the show. Now you and Cisco
- 19:48Speaker 4: Ramon together, I love Wells and Cisco Ramon. I love
- 19:51Speaker 4: the whole thing. So look, my question is, are you
- 19:53Speaker 4: the only Wells left? Now that you've gone off and
- 19:56Speaker 4: you've become pariah and everything like that, Is this the
- 19:58Speaker 4: only Wells there is?
- 20:00Speaker 6: Here's what's ridiculous about doing the show, a superhero comic show.
- 20:05Speaker 6: I run into people like like you, and I just
- 20:08Speaker 6: I'm so inferior with my knowledge.
- 20:11Speaker 18: I'm like, you know more, you know more than me.
- 20:14Speaker 16: And I'm not exaggerating. I'm not trying to play Donald like.
- 20:16Speaker 6: I understand by listening to you that you have a
- 20:19Speaker 6: better grasp of the whole thing than I do. I
- 20:25Speaker 6: feel like, as you guys know, when you do a
- 20:29Speaker 6: long running television show, if there needs to be another Wells,
- 20:33Speaker 6: there can be another Wells.
- 20:34Speaker 4: That's what's UPO. Yeah, absolutely, here's the thing.
- 20:39Speaker 8: Can you explain, Donald? First of all, catch your breath,
- 20:41Speaker 8: calm down. Okay, you're embarrassing us in front of our guests.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Listen, this is this is exactly what I did to
- 20:46Speaker 4: George Lucas Man. This is exactly what I.
- 20:48Speaker 8: Can get too. By the way, when this show's over,
- 20:50Speaker 8: he's gonna take a nap because he's gonna get woozy.
- 20:52Speaker 8: He gets very amped up and then he gets woozy.
- 20:54Speaker 4: This is what this is. All the fans out there
- 20:57Speaker 4: who were wondering how I geek out when I when
- 21:00Speaker 4: I meet or talk to people that do something that
- 21:02Speaker 4: I'm like holy shit about. This is it right here?
- 21:05Speaker 4: I can't breathe right now. I sweating. I know I
- 21:07Speaker 4: have a sweatshirt on, but I'm sweating under here.
- 21:09Speaker 8: All right, But calm down now. For those of you
- 21:11Speaker 8: who don't know, Tom is on the Flash. And as
- 21:13Speaker 8: I understand it, with the CW Superhero shows, you bounce
- 21:17Speaker 8: around to the other shows in the same universe, right
- 21:19Speaker 8: and they all they're all under the Greg Burlany umbrella.
- 21:22Speaker 8: I'm guessing.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Yes, the golden Boy of Hollywood that used to be
- 21:25Speaker 6: Bill Lawrence is now Greg Burlanty and has he has
- 21:29Speaker 6: four hundred shows on the air.
- 21:30Speaker 8: Yeah, he's in part. By the way, my very first job,
- 21:32Speaker 8: Tom kevin well first lead in the movie was Broken
- 21:35Speaker 8: Hearts Club. Greg Burlanni's first movie. That's tremendous and and
- 21:39Speaker 8: now and and and he we went to Northwestern together
- 21:42Speaker 8: and he now he's like, has the most shows on
- 21:45Speaker 8: television of anybody.
- 21:46Speaker 6: You and I when we were talking about doing your podcast, Uh,
- 21:53Speaker 6: the text that came up right next to that text
- 21:56Speaker 6: the last time we talked.
- 21:58Speaker 16: Can I can I read a text that.
- 21:59Speaker 8: Young as it's not like you up?
- 22:02Speaker 6: It's quite.
- 22:05Speaker 8: It's like four in the morning and I'm hammered.
- 22:07Speaker 1: You up.
- 22:08Speaker 16: It's solid comedy.
- 22:10Speaker 6: It's you say, tell Berlin didn't want to do a
- 22:15Speaker 6: cameo as Reverse Flash's brother. I say done. You say,
- 22:19Speaker 6: totally unbuild though a surprise. But I'll need special powers.
- 22:22Speaker 6: I say, make a list, power list, nothing with heavy hammers.
- 22:25Speaker 6: That ship is boring. You say laser eyes please, I
- 22:28Speaker 6: say those are free.
- 22:31Speaker 8: That sounds great.
- 22:33Speaker 16: I feel like it's a miss.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Why did that never happen?
- 22:36Speaker 16: I know what I feel like now that would I've
- 22:38Speaker 16: done this? And I know that Donald wants to be
- 22:39Speaker 16: on board.
- 22:40Speaker 6: I feel like now it's just now you're forcing his
- 22:42Speaker 6: hand because you're putting it out to the.
- 22:44Speaker 16: Public and I was going to have to hire you.
- 22:46Speaker 4: We were talking about white boards and putting manifesting your
- 22:49Speaker 4: destiny onto white boards. This is on my white board.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I'm putting it out there right now.
- 22:54Speaker 8: I want to call Brilanny, and I had to call
- 22:56Speaker 8: him about something else, but I want to call Berlanny
- 22:59Speaker 8: and say, listen, Tom said I could be on the show.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Yeah, because I have that kind of yes.
- 23:04Speaker 8: I spoke to Tom.
- 23:07Speaker 16: He said, like, hang on a second, Tom, Yeah, he's.
- 23:11Speaker 8: Got he's got so many he's got so many shows.
- 23:13Speaker 8: He's like Tom, Tom, Tom, Tom.
- 23:15Speaker 11: I know he is.
- 23:16Speaker 16: I know who he is.
- 23:17Speaker 8: And then he called he calls to a secretary. Do
- 23:19Speaker 8: we still do flash? Yeah? But by the way, how
- 23:27Speaker 8: funny would that be if Donald and I came on?
- 23:29Speaker 8: I mean I don't, to be honest, I don't. I
- 23:31Speaker 8: don't get breathless about the superhero stuff like Donald, but
- 23:34Speaker 8: he really loves it. So sorry, I digress the point.
- 23:37Speaker 6: You should do the other thing you should do Donald.
- 23:39Speaker 6: You should figure out knowing it as you do. You
- 23:41Speaker 6: should figure out what the what the role is that
- 23:44Speaker 6: you want?
- 23:44Speaker 4: Because I know what role I want? What do you want?
- 23:47Speaker 4: I want to say mine?
- 23:48Speaker 16: Don't say mine.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I kind of like, listen, I'm gonna put it out there.
- 23:51Speaker 8: What do you want to.
- 23:53Speaker 4: You guys kind of opened it up when Arrow ended,
- 23:56Speaker 4: and I know, I'm not sure if you guys are
- 23:59Speaker 4: allowed to touch it. You kind of touch on it
- 24:01Speaker 4: in Stargirl. But I think Green Lantern needs to be
- 24:05Speaker 4: in this you know what I mean.
- 24:08Speaker 8: Joel is a Jewel's a big fan of this world too.
- 24:11Speaker 4: And there's so many there are so many that are
- 24:14Speaker 4: in the Lantern core and I know that, you know.
- 24:17Speaker 4: And also size doesn't matter when you're a lantern. You
- 24:20Speaker 4: could be tiny, you could be why, you could be right,
- 24:24Speaker 4: come on, man. Anyway, My point is I think that's
- 24:27Speaker 4: one character that would be a lot of fun to play.
- 24:31Speaker 12: You know.
- 24:31Speaker 4: They there's so many people in the DC universe. But
- 24:35Speaker 4: if I had a choice and they were willing to
- 24:37Speaker 4: do it, I would love to be Green Lantern, all right.
- 24:42Speaker 6: And I think I think that's really special and dear
- 24:45Speaker 6: to Greg, so I think that's great you're making this happen.
- 24:48Speaker 8: Slash and the Green Can the Green Lantern be forty six?
- 24:53Speaker 6: He could be anything, he could be any Look, I'm
- 24:56Speaker 6: playing the reverse Slash.
- 24:57Speaker 16: I'm not a yellow. I'm wearing a yellow super suit.
- 24:59Speaker 8: And sorry Tom for those of us who don't know,
- 25:04Speaker 8: and I'm sure some of our listeners don't know. Can
- 25:06Speaker 8: you just explain in in non superhero terms, what reverse
- 25:11Speaker 8: flash means? There is there a young guy flash.
- 25:14Speaker 6: Yes, there's a good looking It's kind of like when
- 25:17Speaker 6: we did Scrub, like a good looking, handsome guy as
- 25:19Speaker 6: the lead, and then they cast this guy as his
- 25:21Speaker 6: brother Bill Lawrence had lost a bet somewhere. So basically,
- 25:26Speaker 6: a young guy Tom.
- 25:27Speaker 8: When you insult your looks, you insult my looks. So
- 25:31Speaker 8: you're a handsome you look like to me when you
- 25:35Speaker 8: when you when you came on, I thought we got
- 25:37Speaker 8: I thought we got Tom Kavanaugh. Why is Brad Pitt
- 25:39Speaker 8: on the podcast?
- 25:41Speaker 16: That's what That's what you thought?
- 25:43Speaker 4: Hey, y'all.

- 26:15Speaker 19: that movement, part of that rhythm. The Summer's got its
- 26:18Speaker 19: own soundtrack too. You can almost hear it without trying.
- 26:22Speaker 19: Life's happening all around you, that feeling of staying open

- 30:04Speaker 6: You know that bucket list that you have as an
- 30:06Speaker 6: as an actor, and you want to do this theater,
- 30:10Speaker 6: You want to do this show.
- 30:11Speaker 16: You want to do something like shows, you want the whiteboard.
- 30:14Speaker 8: Yeah, we started, we started the show time before we
- 30:16Speaker 8: came on talking about just manifesting things by putting on
- 30:19Speaker 8: a whiteboard and staring at it.
- 30:20Speaker 16: And it was weird to be in your green room
- 30:22Speaker 16: and not have the speakers going.
- 30:24Speaker 6: I'm like, I wonder what they're talking about.
- 30:26Speaker 8: We were talking about you, we were talking about manifesting,
- 30:29Speaker 8: and then.
- 30:29Speaker 6: You well, that's exactly. That's a great that's such a
- 30:31Speaker 6: great call. This is one of those things I never
- 30:33Speaker 6: would have expected to do a superhero show, and it's
- 30:36Speaker 6: a you know, in terms of a bucket list, it's
- 30:38Speaker 6: it's so fun.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys look like you have a lot of
- 30:41Speaker 4: fun on it, and it has no end in sight.
- 30:43Speaker 4: On your show, it has no end in sight.
- 30:45Speaker 8: I mean, I just feel like they the Greg Brilin
- 30:47Speaker 8: keeps adding more and more to this, to this world, right,
- 30:51Speaker 8: I don't know if they're all they all must be
- 30:53Speaker 8: successful because they all keep going.
- 30:54Speaker 16: I honestly, I honestly don't know. I never would have thought.
- 30:58Speaker 6: I think when they started a number years ago, they
- 31:00Speaker 6: had uh and they've done super No, it was the
- 31:04Speaker 6: Superman show, small though, and then they did Arrow and
- 31:09Speaker 6: Arrow I think did well. And then but when we
- 31:11Speaker 6: started Flash, you guys, you guys all know how it is.
- 31:15Speaker 6: We started flashing. I said to my wife, well, this'll
- 31:17Speaker 6: be this will be canceled in seven So I'll go
- 31:19Speaker 6: up to Vancouver from New York and we'll shoot and
- 31:21Speaker 6: then it'll get canceled. Because even at that time I
- 31:24Speaker 6: had done two shows for Greg and both of them had,
- 31:27Speaker 6: you know, been canceled relatively quickly, because that's just how
- 31:30Speaker 6: it goes. And so I didn't foresee it, you know,
- 31:33Speaker 6: I just I never expected to go, and this thing
- 31:35Speaker 6: seemed to go. And even when you say there's no
- 31:37Speaker 6: end in sight, I still expect that you'll just get
- 31:41Speaker 6: the call like, hey, so, yeah, we're done.
- 31:43Speaker 16: You just never know.
- 31:44Speaker 8: For those for those of you not in the entertainmentustry,
- 31:47Speaker 8: we just we just never know.
- 31:48Speaker 13: You know.
- 31:48Speaker 8: You get you get a show like Scrubs and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 31:50Speaker 8: this could go six episodes and then it goes nine
- 31:53Speaker 8: years or you know, or or you know, Donald's did
- 31:56Speaker 8: this show and it when a season, and I did
- 31:58Speaker 8: a show when a season. It's every single time, it's
- 32:01Speaker 8: a roll of the dice, no matter you know, no
- 32:03Speaker 8: matter how many good ingredients there are, you just never know.
- 32:07Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, and most of the time the numbers are
- 32:09Speaker 6: it's it's gonna get canceled.
- 32:11Speaker 8: It's not going to go right, especially now more than ever,
- 32:13Speaker 8: because you know, it's there's so much content. How the
- 32:17Speaker 8: hell does the something fine eyeballs? You know, and you're
- 32:20Speaker 8: on you're on the classic old school true network.
- 32:24Speaker 13: You know.
- 32:26Speaker 4: You guys do twenty four episodes a season. Do you
- 32:29Speaker 4: know what it's like to be able to do something
- 32:31Speaker 4: like most? I remember? I remember I did a show
- 32:35Speaker 4: called The Exes right after Scrubs, right of course, Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 4: we did ten episodes a season. That was it for
- 32:42Speaker 4: an actor. It's like, wait, well, hold on, let's I
- 32:47Speaker 4: want to be I want to work all year round
- 32:49Speaker 4: if I possibly can. It was really weird to work
- 32:52Speaker 4: ten episodes and then have all of this time off
- 32:55Speaker 4: until you came back and did another ten, or you
- 32:58Speaker 4: would do what we would do thirty and they would
- 33:00Speaker 4: just chop it up into episodes. It was like you
- 33:03Speaker 4: never really find you never really find a pace or
- 33:06Speaker 4: a footing. It's like, well, how long are we going?
- 33:08Speaker 4: We're only going to do ten twenty two? You guys
- 33:11Speaker 4: seem to you know you live in Canada right now?
- 33:13Speaker 14: Yes?
- 33:15Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 33:16Speaker 16: Is it Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada?
- 33:18Speaker 6: Conifers jewel of the city. Have you guys been I have.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I love that town too.
- 33:22Speaker 8: I think it's a beautiful city. I love it there.
- 33:25Speaker 8: I was there when the sun was out and it
- 33:27Speaker 8: was magnificence. Yes, And then I was told that it's
- 33:30Speaker 8: not always like that, and I don't know if I
- 33:32Speaker 8: would if I would like it rainy.
- 33:34Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a it's a question of taste, Like when
- 33:37Speaker 6: the sun shines, there's no finer place.
- 33:38Speaker 16: I don't mind the rain.
- 33:39Speaker 6: But I think if you were somebody that didn't like
- 33:42Speaker 6: rain and preferred like seasons in snow, then this city
- 33:45Speaker 6: would not be for you.
- 33:46Speaker 4: But it really is.
- 33:47Speaker 6: It really is a coniferous jewel of a city.
- 33:49Speaker 8: And are you mostly on stages and such or do
- 33:52Speaker 8: you go out and shoot on locations and stuff.
- 33:54Speaker 6: It's it's almost follows a pretty regular schedule where we
- 33:58Speaker 6: do a lot of stage work early in the week
- 34:00Speaker 6: and then we do all this the stunt stuff. You know,
- 34:02Speaker 6: it's always you know, so Thursday, Friday nights, we're gonna
- 34:05Speaker 6: be we're gonna start at you know, five pm, or
- 34:07Speaker 6: we're gonna go all night and we're gonna like, you know,
- 34:09Speaker 6: have the guy run up a building and fight a
- 34:10Speaker 6: monster and then like we're gonna come.
- 34:11Speaker 13: Back and win, you know.
- 34:13Speaker 4: So you kind of you kind of you kind of
- 34:14Speaker 4: have to stay in shape for this thing, like you're
- 34:16Speaker 4: you're asked to do way more than you expected to
- 34:19Speaker 4: do when you start it.
- 34:20Speaker 6: Huh Hey, it's a blessing and a curse, you know,
- 34:23Speaker 6: because the other thing is too is as you guys
- 34:25Speaker 6: know too, Like I mean, I'm older than you guys,
- 34:28Speaker 6: but there's a there's a thing where you when you
- 34:30Speaker 6: were a young actor, you could be vain, but you
- 34:34Speaker 6: wouldn't really matter because you're probably gonna look fine, you know.
- 34:37Speaker 16: And then you get a little bit older, and then your.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Coach, the people you're acting with, your co actors are
- 34:43Speaker 6: twenty eight twenty nine, you know, and they are fantastic.
- 34:47Speaker 16: And then there's you, you know, and he's he looks
- 34:50Speaker 16: great in the suit.
- 34:50Speaker 6: And then you can't really be on the donut diet
- 34:53Speaker 6: while you're on the suit, so you kind of have
- 34:55Speaker 6: to keep keeping in shape, you know.
- 34:58Speaker 4: And so it's do you hang out with Jeff see
- 35:00Speaker 4: how Martin a lot.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Jesse is a legend, as you guys know, coming from theater.
- 35:03Speaker 6: He's just he's amazing. He's got this thing, sus because
- 35:07Speaker 6: he's the captain. You know, he can he work it
- 35:10Speaker 6: with a hat and an overcoat. He doesn't have to
- 35:12Speaker 6: worry too much of it.
- 35:13Speaker 13: You know.
- 35:13Speaker 16: He's just like he's kind of like he runs.
- 35:16Speaker 6: He basically is the beating heart, you know, runs the show,
- 35:19Speaker 6: the center of you know, reason, and uh, you know
- 35:22Speaker 6: he's he's got a great job and appreciates it.
- 35:26Speaker 8: So Tom when ed, when the show ed, I want
- 35:29Speaker 8: to talk about that. When it came out, I was
- 35:31Speaker 8: an unemployed actor and my mom called me very very
- 35:36Speaker 8: concerned that I that I that I had gotten a
- 35:39Speaker 8: lead in the TV show and not told her because
- 35:42Speaker 8: she didn't understand why why I was on billboards all
- 35:45Speaker 8: over the country.
- 35:47Speaker 17: And is that true?
- 35:48Speaker 8: That's how it is? I mean, no, it is, I
- 35:51Speaker 8: mean she she she obviously sused that it was not me,
- 35:54Speaker 8: but she was like, there is a young man who's
- 35:58Speaker 8: on every billboard and and he looks a lot like you.
- 36:02Speaker 8: And I remember thinking, oh, yeah, mom, that's that's not me.
- 36:06Speaker 8: Uh yeah, I'm still still trying to get some auditions
- 36:09Speaker 8: going and uh and it was really humbling because I
- 36:15Speaker 8: was like that fucking guy who looks exactly like me
- 36:17Speaker 8: as a as a hit show leading role on NBC. Now,
- 36:21Speaker 8: no one's ever going to hire me. By the way,
- 36:23Speaker 8: Dak Shepherd, who also looks like us, told me this.
- 36:26Speaker 8: He was like when I was, when I was, you know,
- 36:28Speaker 8: became famous and was all over the place, he was like, well,
- 36:32Speaker 8: how is this gonna fuck my career? Because I look
- 36:34Speaker 8: like that guy and that guy's already working and so anyway,
- 36:39Speaker 8: I wanted to talk to you about Ed and tell
- 36:41Speaker 8: us I imagine that was your big break, right, I mean,
- 36:43Speaker 8: I know you worked a bunch, but that was your
- 36:45Speaker 8: first your own show, right for sure?
- 36:47Speaker 16: I mean, first off Dax's and you have done quite
- 36:52Speaker 16: well for yourselves.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I worked out guys so's Ray Romano.
- 36:56Speaker 6: Yes it worked out, it didn't work out, but yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 6: I had done I'm Canadian and had I moved to
- 37:05Speaker 6: New York City and I think eighty nine to do Broadway.
- 37:08Speaker 16: I did like a decade of theater and I absolutely
- 37:13Speaker 16: loved it, absolutely, one hundred percent loved that.
- 37:15Speaker 6: And then I had done a small guest spots for
- 37:18Speaker 6: literally for ten years on ABCNBC. Back then it was
- 37:21Speaker 6: like just the four right, and I'd done a show
- 37:23Speaker 6: called Providence and then but I had no idea of
- 37:29Speaker 6: the profile that you guys enjoyed on Scrubs because the
- 37:33Speaker 6: shows a lot of the shows that I had done
- 37:35Speaker 6: when they were television shows or series. I've done a
- 37:37Speaker 6: couple of series in Canada, they were Canadian shows, and
- 37:41Speaker 6: there's no cross border pollination between the two countries. In
- 37:44Speaker 6: other words, you'll shoot a show in Canada and you'll
- 37:47Speaker 6: do ten episodes, but everybody in Canada is watching Friends, you.
- 37:51Speaker 8: Know, So who's watching these Canadian shows?
- 37:55Speaker 16: Well, it's it's different.
- 37:56Speaker 6: In Canada. There's a federal mandate for these division show
- 38:00Speaker 6: so they do them and some of them are quite
- 38:05Speaker 6: quite good. And there's not a there's not a mill
- 38:09Speaker 6: the way there is behind the entertainment industry and the States.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Up in Canada, it doesn't, you know. Part of the
- 38:16Speaker 6: ethos of the country is like, well, let's not get
- 38:18Speaker 6: too big for ourselves then, you know, and so and
- 38:21Speaker 6: in the States it's very much the opposite, like let's see.
- 38:24Speaker 16: How we can build up and how big we can get.
- 38:26Speaker 4: And why that.
- 38:29Speaker 6: Why that ethos is good is that you know you
- 38:33Speaker 6: you if you're working as an actor, you're working largely
- 38:36Speaker 6: because you love it because a lot of the attention,
- 38:39Speaker 6: at least back then.
- 38:40Speaker 16: Now it's different because everything.
- 38:41Speaker 6: Can be found. But back then, you know, you were
- 38:44Speaker 6: you were doing the same stuff we would do on
- 38:46Speaker 6: Scrubs that you'd come to set and there's all the
- 38:49Speaker 6: you know, the crew, and there's the people and it's
- 38:50Speaker 6: and it's great and you love it, and then you
- 38:52Speaker 6: leave set and it's still the exact same experience. It's
- 38:55Speaker 6: just that you're not going to radio City Music Hall
- 38:59Speaker 6: and doing the upfront, right, you know what I mean.
- 39:01Speaker 6: And so but it's nice in a strange way because
- 39:04Speaker 6: you understand that, oh, this is this is what I
- 39:06Speaker 6: love to do. And by the time I got ed,
- 39:09Speaker 6: like you know, fifteen years later, it was I was
- 39:13Speaker 6: aware enough that it was it's still the same experience.
- 39:16Speaker 6: And so even though suddenly, like you say, there was
- 39:19Speaker 6: like billboards plastered all over the place, I was readily
- 39:23Speaker 6: aware that you know that that was all that that
- 39:26Speaker 6: can get ripped away and it's semi superficial, and so
- 39:29Speaker 6: I think that was a nice little I don't know
- 39:31Speaker 6: what it would be like to have your face plastered
- 39:34Speaker 6: all over the place when you're in your mid twenties.
- 39:37Speaker 6: I think it would be a I think it would
- 39:39Speaker 6: be a tough fight.
- 39:39Speaker 8: We didn't. We didn't get a big billboard buy, right,
- 39:42Speaker 8: Why the NBC didn't go They certainly went all in.
- 39:45Speaker 8: Whoever made the billboard decision for ED went all in.
- 39:48Speaker 8: And by the time Scrubs came on, they were like, dude,
- 39:51Speaker 8: remember a few years ago we shot our billboard budget
- 39:53Speaker 8: on ED. We have no billboards.
- 39:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm so sorry about that, because why that that's
- 40:00Speaker 6: why you guys didn't get that big big But what
- 40:02Speaker 6: was funny is like I remember when the when Scrubs started,
- 40:05Speaker 6: how just how much of a splash it made.
- 40:08Speaker 16: I'm sure you can remember, and it's not lost on you,
- 40:10Speaker 16: how like big a deal that that was.
- 40:13Speaker 6: Like that show was so important, it seemed at the time.
- 40:17Speaker 8: It was bizarre for us because also, you know, we
- 40:20Speaker 8: compare it to now, you know, the amount of people
- 40:23Speaker 8: watching a single TV show just doesn't happen anymore, especially live,
- 40:28Speaker 8: we really even at all, but let alone live when
- 40:31Speaker 8: it's airing. So it was a completely different eras that
- 40:35Speaker 8: would watch at.
- 40:35Speaker 4: Our worst, at our worst TV shows. Now if they
- 40:39Speaker 4: got our worst numbers right, yes, they would be considered
- 40:42Speaker 4: hit shows.
- 40:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean yeah, noie, Tom, was was ed written
- 40:48Speaker 8: for you? Or did you audition?
- 40:49Speaker 21: No?
- 40:49Speaker 6: No, no, no, they didn't No, no, that was again,
- 40:52Speaker 6: that was NBC. They didn't want me at all, like
- 40:55Speaker 6: we had to. They went through, I think a year
- 40:57Speaker 6: of casting known people and you know, better humans, you.
- 41:03Speaker 8: Know, and then well, you know, just just so people
- 41:06Speaker 8: that weren't in the entertainment industry know, they'll often try
- 41:09Speaker 8: and get a known star that's right, and if that
- 41:13Speaker 8: doesn't always work out for the reasons, and then they go, okay,
- 41:16Speaker 8: well let's start to read people that aren't famous yet,
- 41:18Speaker 8: and which is when this is how people like the
- 41:21Speaker 8: two of you. Well, yeah, I mean exactly exactly. It's
- 41:24Speaker 8: exactly how both Tom and I got our parts exactly.
- 41:28Speaker 16: I was like the third I think, the third round
- 41:30Speaker 16: or so of doing it. The only reason I had
- 41:32Speaker 16: that job.
- 41:33Speaker 6: I remember how generous you were at Bill's fortieth and
- 41:37Speaker 6: at we had the party, and he was you know,
- 41:41Speaker 6: you were like, you were just so gracious about because
- 41:44Speaker 6: you're clearly incredibly talented, and yet you had the wherewithal
- 41:48Speaker 6: to say, I owe so much to this guy.
- 41:51Speaker 16: And I had the same story.
- 41:52Speaker 17: There's a.
- 41:54Speaker 6: Robernette and John beckhaman who ran the Late Show with Letterman,
- 41:58Speaker 6: were those are the guys that're and I got the
- 42:00Speaker 6: job as those guys said, this is the guy and
- 42:03Speaker 6: and you know, they.
- 42:04Speaker 16: Managed to have enough stock that people would listen to them.
- 42:08Speaker 6: And without without somebody standing up for you, sometimes you
- 42:11Speaker 6: just it just doesn't you know, it.
- 42:13Speaker 16: Doesn't go your way. Those people are the only reason
- 42:15Speaker 16: I got that job.
- 42:17Speaker 8: Do you know how many odd times you auditioned.
- 42:20Speaker 6: I know I auditioned once in Los Angeles, and you
- 42:26Speaker 6: know how it is when you're like, oh that that
- 42:28Speaker 6: went well, you feel good about it, but I was
- 42:29Speaker 6: also like, okay, it was pilot season and it was
- 42:32Speaker 6: like one read during the day, but it felt good.
- 42:34Speaker 6: And then then they called me to to have the
- 42:38Speaker 6: the sessions that they do. They have a studio session
- 42:40Speaker 6: and network session, and it was very It was like
- 42:43Speaker 6: and this is I hope this isn't boring. I don't
- 42:47Speaker 6: mean to talk about but they we went and we
- 42:51Speaker 6: had to do it. It was at CBS at the time,
- 42:52Speaker 6: by the way, I don't know if you guys know
- 42:54Speaker 6: that show that was CBS, not NBC, and CBS ultimately
- 42:58Speaker 6: didn't think so they got picked up at CBS, and
- 43:02Speaker 6: then CBS never aired the show, and then a year
- 43:04Speaker 6: later NBC picked it up, which is weird.
- 43:06Speaker 8: So that never happens.
- 43:08Speaker 6: It never happened.
- 43:09Speaker 8: Every time you make a pilot, it's always such a
- 43:11Speaker 8: bizarre thing, both when I've been in them or when
- 43:13Speaker 8: I've directed them. You put so they put so much
- 43:15Speaker 8: money in, they put so much work in, and then
- 43:18Speaker 8: a network chooses what they choose, and then the disc
- 43:21Speaker 8: cards are like they have like the smell of shit
- 43:23Speaker 8: on them. No one will touch them, and it's like,
- 43:25Speaker 8: it's like, what someone just spent six million dollars making
- 43:28Speaker 8: this pilot. You could look at it and maybe recas,
- 43:32Speaker 8: maybe you could recast some things, you could you could
- 43:34Speaker 8: reshoot half of it. Whatever, Well, why are you throwing
- 43:36Speaker 8: it all the way. It's so it's always a bizarre
- 43:39Speaker 8: waste of money to me, because there's there's diamonds in
- 43:42Speaker 8: the rough that no one is So this situation is
- 43:45Speaker 8: very rare that then another network wade Man will take it.
- 43:48Speaker 6: I don't know that it ever happened before with CBS.
- 43:51Speaker 6: I think from what I the only reason that that
- 43:54Speaker 6: happened was again because Robert Nette and ran the Letterman shit.
- 44:01Speaker 6: It was because Letterman had such a big he was
- 44:04Speaker 6: such a big paycheck, he was such a big entity
- 44:07Speaker 6: at the time. That was the only reason I think
- 44:09Speaker 6: that that that card. If a producer didn't have that
- 44:12Speaker 6: card to say that would probably have never never happened.
- 44:16Speaker 6: But when I went into to read, you know, ostensibly
- 44:19Speaker 6: the thing was a comedy with heart, and so you know,
- 44:23Speaker 6: you know, you know how these it's so funny, how
- 44:25Speaker 6: these things change.
- 44:26Speaker 16: So I went in to read.
- 44:28Speaker 6: I was solid and funny in the room and made
- 44:30Speaker 6: them laugh. And then normally, okay, the job is yours,
- 44:33Speaker 6: this is at the network read. But then somebody there's
- 44:36Speaker 6: you know, twenty five people in the room, and somebody
- 44:38Speaker 6: starts going, but but what about this this I don't
- 44:40Speaker 6: like this about him?
- 44:41Speaker 16: And then that sort of you know, you see that
- 44:44Speaker 16: the next thing you know, you had it and then
- 44:46Speaker 16: you don't have it right.
- 44:47Speaker 6: And I remember Rob and John came out and Rob
- 44:50Speaker 6: was he had this real serious face and he's like, look,
- 44:53Speaker 6: so they don't know if you can they don't know
- 44:55Speaker 6: if you can do straight drama. So h you know,
- 45:00Speaker 6: it was a comedic scene about a guy finding out
- 45:02Speaker 6: that his wife is sleeping with a mailman, and they're like,
- 45:06Speaker 6: you just need to do that scene again and throw
- 45:08Speaker 6: out all the comedy and play it like, you know,
- 45:10Speaker 6: play it like a Shakespeare tragedy.
- 45:12Speaker 8: I was like, okay, oh my god.
- 45:15Speaker 6: And I went in and did that and you know,
- 45:18Speaker 6: just completely straight as possible, and they were like, okay,
- 45:21Speaker 6: he can he can.
- 45:22Speaker 22: Do that too.
- 45:22Speaker 8: It's so amazing.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Exact same speech I got pretty much really fucked up. Yeah,
- 45:27Speaker 4: pretty much when.
- 45:28Speaker 8: They weren't saying he fucked up. Donald legit fucked up.
- 45:30Speaker 8: He didn't say he fucked up.
- 45:31Speaker 19: No, I didn't.
- 45:32Speaker 4: When I wore audition for Scrubs, I got real big
- 45:34Speaker 4: in the audition because it was a comedic scene, and
- 45:36Speaker 4: I got real big and animated, and Bill had to
- 45:39Speaker 4: come out and be like, dude, tone that ship down, yeah, because.
- 45:46Speaker 6: It's funny as you know, like I think, sometimes an
- 45:48Speaker 6: executive here's another executive speaking, goes, I better weigh in
- 45:51Speaker 6: as well, you know.
- 45:53Speaker 16: So suddenly they're like he's big. Yeah, he's too big, Yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 16: he's too bid. Suddenly it becomes this thing and you're like.
- 45:57Speaker 8: Oh, no, if actors, only if actors who have yet
- 45:59Speaker 8: to be in one of these rooms only knew, Oh
- 46:01Speaker 8: my gosh, the tight rope you're walking to try and
- 46:04Speaker 8: get a fucking roll. Yeah, oh dude, and how it
- 46:07Speaker 8: just it just falls on one person being like, I
- 46:10Speaker 8: don't know what if, and then all of a sudden
- 46:14Speaker 8: you didn't have the part anymore, and you had the
- 46:15Speaker 8: part for a second.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Yeah right. I've been in a room and watch somebody
- 46:20Speaker 4: destroy it, like kill it, come in and destroy it,
- 46:23Speaker 4: and then someone else come in and do a really
- 46:26Speaker 4: good job but not destroy it. And I saw, well
- 46:30Speaker 4: the first person obviously, and one person in the room
- 46:33Speaker 4: was like, well, you know what, I'm not sure they
- 46:36Speaker 4: actually look like the part. You know what, You're right,
- 46:39Speaker 4: they don't necessarily look like the part. And all of
- 46:42Speaker 4: this doubt happened, and the person that crushed it did
- 46:45Speaker 4: not get the role, and the person that just did
- 46:48Speaker 4: good got the role because there.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Was getting just listening to this.
- 46:51Speaker 4: It's crazy, dude.
- 46:52Speaker 8: I was once working on something and this girl came
- 46:55Speaker 8: in and she was young, you know, she was like
- 46:58Speaker 8: a young Jennifer Gardner type. She was really pretty. She
- 47:01Speaker 8: was early twenties and super expressive and funny, and I
- 47:04Speaker 8: thought that she should get the part. Another girl came
- 47:07Speaker 8: in very very funny. Well, you could have done it too,
- 47:10Speaker 8: but I preferred the first girl. I thought she was better.
- 47:13Speaker 8: One of the executives goes, regarding the first girl, the
- 47:16Speaker 8: young Jennifer Garner type, She goes, she's very expressive. Should
- 47:22Speaker 8: we worry about her wrinkling early?
- 47:26Speaker 2: Oh?
- 47:27Speaker 4: Wow?
- 47:28Speaker 8: Now, mind you, this is like a twenty early twenty
- 47:31Speaker 8: something year old girl and she's very pretty. And the
- 47:37Speaker 8: not only is that the most ludicrous thing you can
- 47:39Speaker 8: ever imagine another human being saying, but in your mind,
- 47:41Speaker 8: the show is going to go so many years that
- 47:45Speaker 8: her wrinkles that come from her being expressive were going
- 47:48Speaker 8: to be a problem. I mean, it was the most
- 47:50Speaker 8: ludicrous thing I've ever heard of them a whole lot.
- 47:51Speaker 16: It's appalling. It's appalling.
- 47:54Speaker 6: The other part of it is actors can act, you know,
- 47:57Speaker 6: and so so I don't how many times so like
- 47:59Speaker 6: you've done a thing and then like, yeah, the feedback is, yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 6: we wanted it a little bigger.
- 48:03Speaker 4: It's like say that ship, you know, say that shit,
- 48:07Speaker 4: why don't you let me do the whole audit? Listen, man,
- 48:09Speaker 4: why did you let me do the whole audition? That big.
- 48:12Speaker 4: Then if that's the case, somebody in the room could
- 48:14Speaker 4: have said, hey, you know what, I love your choice.
- 48:17Speaker 4: You could be diplomatic about it. I loved your choice. Listen,
- 48:20Speaker 4: can you tone it down a little bit this time?
- 48:22Speaker 8: Right?
- 48:23Speaker 4: You know what I mean? That never happens anymore, dude.
- 48:26Speaker 4: I do remember though, back in the day when I
- 48:27Speaker 4: was going out for auditions, and it would be like
- 48:30Speaker 4: somebody who was from the urban or from the streets
- 48:33Speaker 4: and stuff like that, and you'd get the can you
- 48:35Speaker 4: can you spice it up a little?
- 48:36Speaker 17: Dog?
- 48:37Speaker 4: You can you can you put a little sauce on that?
- 48:42Speaker 21: No?
- 48:43Speaker 8: How would they say it? Like what's the worst base?
- 48:45Speaker 8: One would say that, can you spice it up a
- 48:47Speaker 8: little bit? Spice it up a little?
- 48:49Speaker 4: And you'd be like what.
- 48:53Speaker 8: I had a producer say to me once about a script.
- 48:55Speaker 8: She goes, you know, she was this old lady. She goes,
- 48:58Speaker 8: you know, you could go black with it, and I go, okay, yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 8: that's that's just there's no reason. She goes, you know,
- 49:05Speaker 8: they're doing their thing. She did that, judge, you guys
- 49:11Speaker 8: can't see the gest jure me and she sort of
- 49:12Speaker 8: rocked back and forth. She goes, you know they're they're
- 49:15Speaker 8: doing their thing. It was one of the most awkwardive
- 49:22Speaker 8: things I've ever witnessed. I go, okay, so you want
- 49:25Speaker 8: them to do their thing?
- 49:25Speaker 15: I got it?
- 49:31Speaker 8: Oh my god? Should we get it? We have to
- 49:32Speaker 8: take a break probably, and then we're gonna get into
- 49:35Speaker 8: the episode. All right, We'll be right back with the
- 49:37Speaker 8: Tom Cavanaugh.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Hey, what up y'all?
- 49:40Speaker 19: Summer moves like a great jam session. You start with
- 49:43Speaker 19: one idea, one direction, and then the ships somebody calls
- 49:46Speaker 19: energy changes, you take a detour. That's the beauty of it.
- 49:50Speaker 19: For me, Summer's always been about discovery, new sounds, new places,
- 49:53Speaker 19: new people, new ideas. You start one place and up
- 49:56Speaker 19: somewhere completely different, and somehow that's exactly where you supposed
- 50:00Speaker 19: to be. I've always had my spots along the way.
- 50:03Speaker 19: Starbucks has been one of those constants before session, on
- 50:06Speaker 19: the way to a gig, and between conversations that turn
- 50:09Speaker 19: into something bigger then you expect it. It's part of
- 50:11Speaker 19: that movement, part of that rhythm. The Summer's got its
- 50:14Speaker 19: own soundtrack too. You can almost hear it without trying.
- 50:18Speaker 19: Life's happening all around you. That feeling of staying open
- 50:21Speaker 19: to whatever's next. Sometimes it's the smallest things that lock
- 50:24Speaker 19: you into that moment. What you're holding, what you're sipping.
- 50:28Speaker 19: The New Tropical Butterfly Refresher from Starbucks while I'm passion
- 50:33Speaker 19: fruit flavors with mango, pineapple flavored pearls, cold, colorful, alive
- 50:38Speaker 19: feels like something made for the day that's still unfolding.
- 50:41Speaker 4: And that's the thing.
- 50:42Speaker 19: Sometimes one small stop changes the whole mood of your day.

- 53:33Speaker 13: the final season of The Shy now streaming on the
- 53:35Speaker 13: Paramount Plus Premium plan.
- 53:47Speaker 4: Hey, we always talk about how everybody met Bill and
- 53:52Speaker 4: how you came to this show. You wound up during
- 53:54Speaker 4: the show for several seasons.
- 53:56Speaker 8: Lots of episodes you miss, so you must have been
- 53:58Speaker 8: one of our most recurring guest stars.
- 54:02Speaker 6: I don't know that, but I can tell you I
- 54:05Speaker 6: was always hugely grateful to get the call. I sort
- 54:09Speaker 6: of feel like even being on this podcast is sort
- 54:12Speaker 6: of like I've sort of, like I was telling your producers,
- 54:14Speaker 6: I've sort of like glommed my way on by like,
- 54:18Speaker 6: you know, get that somehow this got put out there.
- 54:21Speaker 6: But I also felt that same way about Scrubs, Like
- 54:23Speaker 6: I don't really do Scrubs, but I sort of like
- 54:26Speaker 6: piggybacked on the back of their success. And I've been
- 54:29Speaker 6: basically a parasite this whole time, and I'm so so
- 54:31Speaker 6: grateful for it because.
- 54:33Speaker 8: People loved you on the show.
- 54:34Speaker 17: Tom.
- 54:34Speaker 6: Sorry, it's funny, how like, no, no, but it's funny.
- 54:36Speaker 6: How like when you like it isn't anywhere, you can't
- 54:39Speaker 6: find it anywhere. Most of this a lot of stuff
- 54:42Speaker 6: that's harder, harder to find. And I would say scrubs
- 54:45Speaker 6: is the thing. Even though you know, you guys were
- 54:48Speaker 6: you get all you guys did such a great job,
- 54:50Speaker 6: but I did nothing. I still get recognized all the
- 54:54Speaker 6: time from I hear people all the time want to say, hey,
- 54:57Speaker 6: little brother, or they remember this, remember the bathtub episode.
- 55:00Speaker 16: I remember this kind of thing.
- 55:00Speaker 6: And you know, it was like ninety years ago and
- 55:02Speaker 6: people are still like, it's still resonant. It's on Comedy Central.
- 55:04Speaker 6: It's just like it's it's.
- 55:06Speaker 16: Lovely to be associated with your success.
- 55:08Speaker 8: Well, people really loved you on the show. They really,
- 55:11Speaker 8: you know, when when when Donald and I talked about
- 55:14Speaker 8: having guests on a lot of people asked for the
- 55:18Speaker 8: Tom Kavanaugh. But wait a second, sorry, go back to
- 55:21Speaker 8: what Donald asked, How did you come about? How did
- 55:22Speaker 8: it come about? Did you know Bill? Or was it
- 55:24Speaker 8: the obvious that people thought he's on NBC he looks
- 55:26Speaker 8: like Zach that kind of thing.
- 55:28Speaker 2: No.
- 55:28Speaker 12: I I.
- 55:32Speaker 6: Think I had been friendly with Bill, and we weren't.
- 55:36Speaker 6: We weren't friends before we sort of became friends throughout,
- 55:40Speaker 6: but we had, you know, had spoken and gotten along
- 55:45Speaker 6: and he he and his wife had always been like
- 55:48Speaker 6: quite friendly and generous and stuff, and so I think
- 55:51Speaker 6: it must have been him saying, oh, okay, I know Tom.
- 55:55Speaker 6: I I have a friendly relationship with him, and so
- 56:00Speaker 6: this seems like a natural fit because of how we look.
- 56:03Speaker 6: I think you run into people and you're like, I
- 56:05Speaker 6: would like to work with this person again, you know
- 56:07Speaker 6: what I mean. That happens occasionally, and it almost never happens.
- 56:10Speaker 6: I think all your intentions are always great, and yet
- 56:13Speaker 6: you're still trying to have a job and survive, and
- 56:16Speaker 6: so sometimes it's quite quite difficult, given you know, it's
- 56:20Speaker 6: very difficult to repatriate again. So I think I think
- 56:24Speaker 6: maybe we got along and then he was like, oh
- 56:26Speaker 6: this is this could be a nice little one off,
- 56:28Speaker 6: but then it ended up being more, which is tremendous.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Because you're really good on the show man. Also, you know,
- 56:35Speaker 4: I we talk about this all the time in remembering
- 56:39Speaker 4: the shows. This is one of we talk about it
- 56:41Speaker 4: so much that it's become a bingo. It's one of
- 56:43Speaker 4: the bingo questions. Like somebody made a bingo sheet, and
- 56:47Speaker 4: on the bingo sheet it says they'll talk about at
- 56:49Speaker 4: some point, you know, if they talk about not remembering
- 56:53Speaker 4: the show, you get a letter, right, And this is
- 56:56Speaker 4: one of those moments because I really didn't remember this
- 57:00Speaker 4: episode that much. I knew the first episode I remember
- 57:03Speaker 4: you on is when John Ritter passed away and then
- 57:07Speaker 4: you out of nowhere, was like, yo, you know what,
- 57:09Speaker 4: I'll come in and now.
- 57:10Speaker 8: And wait, how was that this one?
- 57:13Speaker 4: That's not this one? That's not this one at all?
- 57:16Speaker 6: That was another significant one that was such a again,
- 57:19Speaker 6: you know, I think I don't know if you had
- 57:20Speaker 6: because you're there and you have no basis of comparison
- 57:22Speaker 6: for you people.
- 57:24Speaker 16: You guys were like all all all your group was
- 57:26Speaker 16: such a welcoming you know.
- 57:28Speaker 6: It's it's it's interesting because once you go through, you know,
- 57:31Speaker 6: thirty years of this stuff, it's not always you know,
- 57:34Speaker 6: it's not always a group like that, you know, and
- 57:37Speaker 6: I obviously don't know all the inside stories and stuff
- 57:40Speaker 6: because I would.
- 57:40Speaker 16: Just come in and out. But but being in a
- 57:43Speaker 16: place where you felt welcomed and.
- 57:47Speaker 6: Encouraged and the idea is that that you guys, I
- 57:51Speaker 6: can remember laughing so hard at the stuff you guys
- 57:53Speaker 6: would do that wasn't in the script, knowing that you
- 57:55Speaker 6: would do this stuff verbatim as it was in the script,
- 57:58Speaker 6: knowing that you would get your blows your chances, and
- 58:00Speaker 6: I thought, this is incredible, like this this environment. I
- 58:03Speaker 6: remember you Zach doing one of I've seen like the
- 58:06Speaker 6: actor who played Ross Kueller, David Swimmer running to a
- 58:10Speaker 6: he had an open laundry door and he like hits
- 58:13Speaker 6: his head on it and falls over there. That's one
- 58:15Speaker 6: of the most solid modern day praftfalls. And you did
- 58:18Speaker 6: one to do a glass door that was like we're
- 58:20Speaker 6: just we're just watching, you know. We were sitting by
- 58:22Speaker 6: the monitors, and I was like, I remember thinking this,
- 58:24Speaker 6: and this is like years ago. I remember thinking I
- 58:26Speaker 6: could watch him do this all great long. Every time
- 58:30Speaker 6: you didn't get tired of it, you kept doing it.
- 58:32Speaker 6: Every time you did it, it was like seemed like
- 58:33Speaker 6: better than the last.
- 58:34Speaker 8: I wanted to get it right, you know. I so
- 58:36Speaker 8: enjoyed doing the physical comedy and and I would get
- 58:40Speaker 8: competitive just with myself, wanting to be wanting to wanting
- 58:43Speaker 8: to make a really good one. And and uh, you
- 58:45Speaker 8: know that was a bit of my that was my sport.
- 58:47Speaker 8: If you will try to be good at I remember
- 58:50Speaker 8: one time in one of the episodes you jumped out
- 58:52Speaker 8: and I just improved monsters. Yeah, and you know the
- 59:00Speaker 8: fun thing about the show, as you were just saying,
- 59:02Speaker 8: was there was such a vibe of just safety, that is,
- 59:08Speaker 8: this is a safe environment. Go nuts, do be adventurous.
- 59:13Speaker 8: You know, Bill will tell you you obviously get do
- 59:15Speaker 8: it as written, but he'll tell you if he wants
- 59:17Speaker 8: you to bring it down. But I was just watching
- 59:19Speaker 8: this your first episode, and you were making such bold
- 59:22Speaker 8: choices and right so tricky, which is tricky because you know,
- 59:26Speaker 8: we'd be bound the show. We're regulars, we're there all
- 59:27Speaker 8: the time, we had we had kind of built up
- 59:29Speaker 8: that comfortableness for a guest star to come on and
- 59:32Speaker 8: be like, all right, I'm gonna do a bold character.
- 59:34Speaker 8: I'm gonna make bold choices. I was really I was
- 59:37Speaker 8: really impressed with you just watching it back, because it's
- 59:39Speaker 8: one thing if you do it like on your fifth episode.
- 59:42Speaker 8: Here you are is your first time on set, your
- 59:44Speaker 8: guest star of a show that that's really popular, and
- 59:48Speaker 8: you came up with this character which was nothing like
- 59:51Speaker 8: your character on ED and was just bold and funny.
- 59:54Speaker 6: But it was probably a lot to do with, like
- 59:57Speaker 6: I say, just being around a place where people were like, hey,
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: have fun, enjoy I think I think it just bears
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: repeating that your show was such a such a place
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: where you know, you welcome people to do that very
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: thing you were talking about.
- 1:00:13Speaker 16: I remember also being so impressed.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: I'm sorry to talking about it, but it just it
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: just seemed like I remember season six coming in and
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: doing something, and I remember thinking, I remember watching on
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: different shows i'd done, how you know people buy into like, well,
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: how what's our place in the universe of television?
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: Like are we popular? Are we you know, are we
- 1:00:33Speaker 16: getting enough attention?
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: And I think you guys probably had you know, the NBA,
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: Why don't they promote us all that kind of stuff.
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: But I remember coming in on season six and watching
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: you had settled into this thing like this is us
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: and this is for us, and it was such a
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: smart and intelligent way to understand that life is fleeting,
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: this is fleeting, and so let's just all be for
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: this show. And when you when you come from a
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: different place and you come into that, it influenced me
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: for the rest of my career to go, this is
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: really what you want. People who are have each other's backs,
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: who are for each other, who want to just do
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: this scene right now as best as they can, and
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: what more is that?
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: Yeah, speaking of doing a scene, really well, how fucking
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: funny are you stealing the lab coat and going in
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: to attend to a patient?
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: That shit was hilarious, Yeah, mister laughed, before we do that.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: Before we do that, let's get into this, uh recap?
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: Oh yeah, sorry? So Tom, every episode, Donald will sum
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: it up. He has thirty seconds. I time him.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Yes, and this is great.
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: Okay, So Donald, hold on getting my stop watch up.
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: He's been crushing it lately. He got in a little
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: cocky late and and and ending early, which I don't like.
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: I like you to fill your time. Now, this might
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: go over. Okay, on your mark, Get set go.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: J d's brother Dan comes to this. He wrecks havoc
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: on all of JD's relationships. JD wishes his brother would
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: just grow up. Turkey and Cocks are beefing again, this
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: time because both have good arguments on why their departments
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: are better at saving lives. By the act break, Jdan
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Turk are shamed, Turk of himself, j D of his brother.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: For Turk, it takes a lesson from an unexpected person
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: for him to regain faith that he's doing his job
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: the right way. For JD. It's him learning and understanding
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: that not all people are built the same. Some people
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: are content with who they are. How far did I
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: go over?
- 1:02:30Speaker 8: It's thirty six, But you had some fuck ups, and
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: I think the audiences to give you geez.
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: I thought it was amazing.
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: It's well done. It's well done. I think when you
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: were hurt. I don't think you rehearsed this time. Sometimes.
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: No, it's freaking we're an hour into the damn show.
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: I expected to do that.
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: You well, he didn't know that Tom Cavanaugh was going
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: to be so interesting.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: I said, listen, I knew Tom was going to be
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: this interesting. So you're saying we were going to get
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: into the show.
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: What you're saying is that you were rehearsed right before
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: he went on the air. And now you're rusty, and
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: I was rusty.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: If you give me another chance, I bet it's better.
- 1:03:01Speaker 8: No, I don't want to hear it again.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: Sick.
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: Good job, you know what, well, you know what. We'll
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: have Dan speed it up a little bit. No, we
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: can't do no. Yeah, thirty six seconds, thirty six well
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: done though, Well, yes, well that's the episode. To remind you, Tom,
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: we did this as a service to people who want
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: a brief reminder of what the episode was.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: Tom.
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: Tom comes to visit me. He's been driving a car
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: across the country as a for for three hundred dollars,
- 1:03:26Speaker 8: and uh, he has no fear of doctor Cox, which
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: is just mind boggling me. And I'm squirming that he's
- 1:03:32Speaker 8: I'm squirming as he meets Cox for the first time
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: and is fucking with doctor Cox.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: Yeah, that would be the best day of my life
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: if I went to my brother's job and he had
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: a boss that was bullying him, and I could freaking
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: and I know that no matter what, he's gonna get
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: bullied anyway, I'm gonna fuck some shit up. Then how
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: about this, Oh wort, you gotta mess with my little brother.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: Now I'm gonna mess with you.
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, I remember the day. I think I
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: remember on the day Tom even being nervous in real
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: life because I was so you know, Johnny was Johnny
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: and I we were versions of our characters and and
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: we would just play that. Now you came in as
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: an alpha fucking with him, and I think I think
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: I recalled even on the day being a little uncomfortable,
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: But I think didn't like it, and I'm I'm sure
- 1:04:18Speaker 8: he did, because nobody in that hospital, in the real
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: world or on or in the world of the show
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: fucked with him, and he had gotten quite comfortable with that.
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: And now here's someone who looks just like me walking
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: with him. But that was great. And then so the
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: let's talk about that Rickles moment. That was pretty fucking funny.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: That ship was hilarious. I love the fact that the
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: reason why it's gonna happen is because he hears Bambi
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: and You're like, all right, I don't want you to
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: call me bamb before the rest of my life. I'll
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: lab wear a lab coat with a lab cooat. And
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: he walks in and he goes and you know, and
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: and and we find out just before he walks in
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: that the guy's got to live and that the surgery
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: was everything was a success. And the first first thing
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Tom says, Dan says is it was touch and go for.
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: Ye And then he goes, you got out. We got
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: to look out for those little Rickles and he goes,
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: his name is Rickles.
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: He's like the little Reckles the kids future.
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: And then I go, okay, thank you. When you go
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: damn it Babby, I'm busy to find a good nurse
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: these days. And shot was really funny by Michael Spiller
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: when you when you turn around, Yeah, I'm always a
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: sucker for the quick turnaround.
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: Yes, of course, damn it, Bamby, give me a second.
- 1:05:34Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly, I'm busy. Hilarious, And now my nightmare would
- 1:05:41Speaker 8: be my brother coming and flirting with someone that I
- 1:05:44Speaker 8: had feelings for and let alone, also your friend. I mean,
- 1:05:49Speaker 8: this is like always awkward when you have a friend
- 1:05:52Speaker 8: that's like, I don't know if this guy's ever happened
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: to you, where like you broke up with someone and
- 1:05:56Speaker 8: then you see your friends starting to like and you're like,
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: what the fuck? And and and I just I felt
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: for JD as you, as you and Sarah are walking
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: down the hall and flirting, and it's cruel.
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: It's awful.
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: It's so fucking mean.
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: It's awful.
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: Yeah, and it's mean, by the way, it's me on
- 1:06:12Speaker 8: both parts. It's mean on, it's mean on. I mean,
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: you guys have a brother, you guys those two characters
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: had had a brother competition thing, obviously, but the fact
- 1:06:21Speaker 8: that Elliott was so willing to just like dive in
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: and be all like gigly. That was so cruel.
- 1:06:26Speaker 16: Yeah, it was mean.
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: It was like, ah, he's so funny, and he's not
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: really that funny, but he was just being You're like, ah, yeah,
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: I know, that's okay. You just and then the idea
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: that wait, this is actually happened, This is happening, is happening.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: I love I love the how he realizes it's happening
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: out of nowhere. You turn day tonight by flicking a switch.
- 1:06:48Speaker 8: That was great, and then they start totally making out
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: and then and then they pop back to reality. And
- 1:06:53Speaker 8: then in reality, I yell, stop your stop your stupid laughing.
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: It makes you look like a whore.
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: Right, you're kidding, Just the worst thing you could say.
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: And then the way I did it was like vomiting
- 1:07:07Speaker 8: it up, like I couldn't. I couldn't hold in the rain.
- 1:07:11Speaker 16: You skewed it out.
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: Yeah, stupid laughing.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: It makes you look like goodness, grace jump cut.
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I must have been tricky to shoot. We must
- 1:07:21Speaker 8: have done the first part and then come back.
- 1:07:23Speaker 16: We did.
- 1:07:23Speaker 17: We did.
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: Then we came back at night and Sarah had this idea.
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: We were both chewing gum like spit the gum out,
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: you know, and then like you know, have the all
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: the fun two three four.
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: Were you call that chewing gum like throughout the whole
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: scene or do you you both? You know, sometimes when
- 1:07:37Speaker 8: you're an actor, you know you're going to make out
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: with someone, you want to have fresh minty breath.
- 1:07:40Speaker 12: Was it?
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: I think she?
- 1:07:42Speaker 16: I think she no.
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: I think she added gum later on, because there was.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: It was one of two things. One is like you
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: kissed the person, then they have the gum that you
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: had in your mouth not great.
- 1:07:53Speaker 18: Or you know, pew pew.
- 1:07:54Speaker 16: And I think she we realized we could.
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: Have a we could double down on the comedy moment
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: by spitting our gum out.
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: Before we used to have but we used to have
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: banaka on set, not not just for.
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: I remember you guys had the You guys had the
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: You also had the boom things that melt in your mouth.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, it does give you heartburn.
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: They give me heartburn. Yeah, both Donald and I would
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: have too many and they would give us heartburn. But
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: the old school aerosol spray baknaka, which is my favorite.
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: We started having it just from we had kissing scenes
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: and we didn't want to have bad breath for our
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: scene partner. But then it became like, you know, we're
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: all friends, all up in each other's faces all day long.
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: We're like, let's make a rule everybody, we don't have
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: bad breath, and so we would like just be spraying
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: a NonStop dude.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: I remember, it became how many can you spray in
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: your mouth? And burn his mouth like tin under the tongue,
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: just for ships and Giggles's.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: And eventually our boom operator velcrode one to the boom
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: and and we called it boom naka and we'd be
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: like Kevin boom naka and he would just dip the
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: boom down. We'd pull the as off off the mic
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: I was on deltrow and then and attach it back up.
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: That's great, A right there, that's some Yeah, that was thought.
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: We thought he was gonna do it for like a
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: day as a joke.
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: It was up there for years, same same canister, hopefully
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: hopefully changed out.
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: I like when at five point twenty four, when when
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: Cox goes, well, people please stop calling me, yes, and
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: then Kelsea Walkspine goes hey, I'm nuts, sorry, I'm nutsy.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: How's it going. I'm nuts.
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: He had another one in there where he was like
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: I don't have time for pity or something like that,
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: or yeah, right when he's talking to Johnny Castle.
- 1:09:36Speaker 8: Oh yeah, I wrote that down too, and why does
- 1:09:39Speaker 8: why does well? First of all, when you scare me
- 1:09:41Speaker 8: in the shower? Hilarious. That was the first of many
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: scared we.
- 1:09:44Speaker 16: Did, like ten we did ten. Do you remember that?
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: I remember I remember waiting, waiting in the thing behind
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: the curtain and like thinking, oh, this maybe this one
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: will do this, Like there was we had like five
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: or six different ones, and I think the first one
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: was really terrifying for you.
- 1:09:59Speaker 8: I remember that. Uh, it's funny. I just put two
- 1:10:02Speaker 8: and two together that I guess we bought the clear
- 1:10:04Speaker 8: shower curtain that's in the opening of the show, right,
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: because wasn't there a clear shower curtain when you scare me?
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: No, no, there isn't a shower curtain that it's opaque
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: when I come out because you don't see me.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: And then right, and you thought it looks like it's clear.
- 1:10:17Speaker 16: I thought, I have I have because you have you
- 1:10:19Speaker 16: guys have that runner earlier on.
- 1:10:21Speaker 8: Yeah, so we're we're shopping for a clear shower curtain
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: and then whereas it it is five point thirty two.
- 1:10:28Speaker 8: I'm just curious because it'd be funny if we, uh
- 1:10:31Speaker 8: we happen to keep the shower. Yeah, it's clear.
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: Oh goodness, how could it?
- 1:10:36Speaker 17: Then?
- 1:10:36Speaker 18: How can you bought it?
- 1:10:37Speaker 8: We actually bought it? There you go. Okay, look at
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: that continuity. Yeah, I mean I got air, dude, you
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: scared the ship out of me. And I mean in
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: real life, and I think the character. But I obviously
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: had a nice juicy map behind me because I like
- 1:10:52Speaker 8: literally flew up.
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: Yes, yes, it's solid and once again Zach.
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: Braft Solid, Zach Braft Special good stuff. I laughed. When
- 1:11:01Speaker 8: Laverne makes her own Halloween candy, she says she's dressed.
- 1:11:09Speaker 8: First of all, she's dressed like Raggedy Ann and uh
- 1:11:12Speaker 8: and there's like this bowl of popcorn and homemade lollipops
- 1:11:16Speaker 8: and she says something like, if you want name brand stuff,
- 1:11:18Speaker 8: this fist is packed with nuts or something.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: This episode was actually written by Tim Hobert.
- 1:11:27Speaker 8: Yes, I believe.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: Was he with us the first season? Well, he came
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: in on second.
- 1:11:31Speaker 8: Him was not their first season, no, But he's a
- 1:11:33Speaker 8: very funny writer.
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: So this is his first big episode. This is first
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: episode of the season. Then, yeah, and also Mike Spiller's
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: back as our director.
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: We like Spiller a lot. This is the first episode
- 1:11:43Speaker 8: in which I read on Scrubs Wiki this is the
- 1:11:45Speaker 8: first episode that you're ever called Gandhi by doctor Cox.
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: That's interesting. Sarah's sister is actually one of the interns
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: in this episode. Also, yeah, and Cox is I mean
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: when Kelso's doing rounds in the beginning, Sarah.
- 1:11:57Speaker 8: When when Kelso pulls he hates the costumes and he
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: pulls some cat ears off, and that's Sarah's sister, not
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: not her younger sister obviously, that's yeah, it's her older sister.
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: And then I noticed that Johnny Castle playing Doug. He
- 1:12:12Speaker 8: takes off the clown knows and kisses it. And I
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: remember on the day thinking that was so random and funny,
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: but I have no idea why he does it. It's
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: very weird out.
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I know exactly.
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: He takes the clown that Kelso says, take that fucking
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: costume off, and he takes the nose off, and he
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: looks at it and he gives a little kiss before
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: he fucking which is just so weird. And amazing.
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: I don't know why he did it, but yeah, the
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: scene between you and Johnny C when you win the
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: bet is like, to me, that was just such classic
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: scrubs because it's it's good in the in and of
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: itself with the comedy's just hilarious, especially when you're celebrating and.
- 1:12:49Speaker 18: It kind of goes on.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: Then it goes on, then it keeps going on, which
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: I personally it's funny. Then it's sort of maybe not funny.
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: Then it's really funny because you just keep doing it.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: You do the backward why, and it's just all the
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: different beats of your comedy there. It's just like had
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: me laughing and I'd forgotten the scene and then and
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: then there's then there's that other level where he's like, yes,
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: which is what that's what your show did so well,
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: where it's like you have the great comedy and that
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: could just on another show that would just be enough.
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: And then it's like there's a hammer a gravitas that
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: still works. It's beautiful. It ends with ends with you
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: like with a legit serious moment considering this information.
- 1:13:26Speaker 16: It's great.
- 1:13:26Speaker 8: It's a matter of Joelle and you just look like
- 1:13:28Speaker 8: you freaked ou him on something.
- 1:13:29Speaker 14: Uh oh, Gena Price Price when heard a thing I
- 1:13:32Speaker 14: did and I love her.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: Sorry, okay, wait what happened?
- 1:13:36Speaker 8: I'm sorry, Wait what happened? I think since you distracted
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: the show, you're gonna have to share what happened?
- 1:13:41Speaker 14: Sorry, Gena Price bikeeleot It is a amazing director.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: She directed to Love Basketball and she just has a
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: new movie on Netflix Cold, Oh my gosh, The Old Guard. Yes,
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: black lady who's been working for a very long time,
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: and I love her. She used to write on Felicity,
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: like season one of Felicity she wrote, and then she
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: went on, all right, but.
- 1:14:01Speaker 8: What happened that made your face light up? Because I
- 1:14:03Speaker 8: thought it was Tom's use of the word gravitas.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: Acknowledge my existence.
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: I get so excited, Oh well, congratulations. What did she say?
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: What she like, you're one of the articles you've written
- 1:14:15Speaker 8: or something.
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I did a pod talking about the new movie
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: and she was like, this was so great. I was like,
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: oh my god, that's.
- 1:14:23Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: That's always good to be alogetic. Don't know that.
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: I just want the listeners to know. From my point
- 1:14:30Speaker 8: of view, Tom said the word gravitas and Joel's face
- 1:14:34Speaker 8: lit up and she started like doing the hand thing
- 1:14:37Speaker 8: where you might cry, And I'm like, wow, Joelle really
- 1:14:40Speaker 8: loves the word gravias.
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: She had better reasons to celebrate, Yah, better reasons to celebrate.
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: I'm glad to hear it wasn't gravitas either, the old
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: guard plug.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: That's great, that would be that would be the funniest
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: ship ever.
- 1:14:53Speaker 8: But she just loves to word gravata whenever she whenever
- 1:14:57Speaker 8: she hears it, she has to fan her eyes. I
- 1:15:03Speaker 8: love Donald You're bragging about having two singles in your wallet.
- 1:15:06Speaker 8: You say hello mister when he gives you the funny
- 1:15:08Speaker 8: Hello Jackson, me introduce you to the Washington Brothers right now.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: You guys get nice and acquainted.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: And in.
- 1:15:17Speaker 8: Mamallet you're dancing. There was so funny, man.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: Yes, I had a lot of I had a lot
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: of fun doing that. I'm sure I did. It's it's
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: really weird, you know how things change, Because everybody did
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: a Michael Jackson impersonation back in the day. Everybody did it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I can't recall the last time I've seen Michael Jackson impersonation.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: He's been a very very long time.
- 1:15:39Speaker 17: Now.
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: You probably if we were doing the show. Now, you
- 1:15:41Speaker 8: probably wouldn't be doing so many Michael Jackson's now I
- 1:15:44Speaker 8: Love a Growing Pain shout out for those of you
- 1:15:46Speaker 8: who were too young to know. Growing Pains was a
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: very popular sitcom and starring Kirk Cameron. And uh when
- 1:15:53Speaker 8: when I when when we all go to lunch, I say, oh, no,
- 1:15:57Speaker 8: I'm trying to defend Dan. Oh no, he lives with
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: my mom, but he's got his own area. He's like
- 1:16:02Speaker 8: Kirk Cameron when he's about the garage with Boner and
- 1:16:06Speaker 8: Kirk Cameron had a friend in the show name name Boner,
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: which made no sense. Why was his friend named Boner?
- 1:16:11Speaker 8: Everyone knows what his name.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: His last name was the Bones, the Bone, and his
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: dad's name was Sylvester.
- 1:16:18Speaker 16: But then you right, you yell out to the room Boner.
- 1:16:22Speaker 16: Come on everyone, Boner, it's too too low hanging fruit.
- 1:16:26Speaker 8: No, come on Boner, speaking of lauging.
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: You guys didn't hear what I said. His dad's name
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Will was Sylvester and his last name is Sta Bone.
- 1:16:35Speaker 8: Sylvester Stabone. Yeah, do you know the Growing Pains theme?
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Instead of Sylvester Stallone, Sylvester Stabone, do you know the
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: pain I get?
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: It.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: Okay, it just wasn't that funny. I guess. I'm sorry.
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: I thought it was hilarious when I first arder with
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Joe kids. Wait a second, boner, your dad's name is
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: Sylvester stabone. And then he turns back and looks that
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: Mike and goes, who knew?
- 1:17:00Speaker 21: What?
- 1:17:01Speaker 8: Right joke? Donald? Do you know the theme song? Tom?
- 1:17:06Speaker 12: Tom?
- 1:17:07Speaker 8: You might not know this, but Donald can sing song.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: If you tell me how it starts, I could sing it.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: Show me that smart again, Okay, zech, I got it.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Don't waste another it on your crying. And we're nowhere
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: near the end. Her best is edit to begain.
- 1:17:30Speaker 8: Oh, okay, can start it too high. As long as we.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: Got each other, we got the world hanging right and
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: our hands baby rain.
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: Or shine foot all the time.
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: Okay, we've got each other sharing the left of love,
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: sharing the left.
- 1:17:57Speaker 8: So I'm going to release an album Tom of Donalds.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: The show that did every season they did a different
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: version of that song.
- 1:18:05Speaker 8: Oh really. They also at some point they had a baby,
- 1:18:08Speaker 8: and then they were like, the baby's boring, and next
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: season she's gonna be five. And they also they also
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: had nobody else to age. But the baby was all
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: of a sudden five.
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: They also like fostered a kid for a little bit.
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: Who was young Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 1:18:23Speaker 8: Oh right, I was young Leo's first show, I believe.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: Well, I don't know if it was his first, but.
- 1:18:29Speaker 8: There's really cute. I've seen like you know when they
- 1:18:32Speaker 8: do like you know, you know, remember who this little
- 1:18:35Speaker 8: boy was. I've seen like his first interviews. I just
- 1:18:38Speaker 8: love being an actor and I'm just happy to be
- 1:18:40Speaker 8: with these guys. It was really cute, and now look
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: at him. Donald has a little Leo crushed. Tommy comes
- 1:18:45Speaker 8: up almost every episode.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: I love Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 1:18:48Speaker 8: Yeah, so.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: Last one of my favorite actors of all time.
- 1:18:53Speaker 8: One of our last episodes ended with Donald talking about
- 1:18:56Speaker 8: trying to doc with.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: No no, no, no, no, no, no go breaking. We
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: gotta go to break. We gotta guess. Guys should bring
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: just we should go to break. Guys break.
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: We'll be right back after Donald dox Leo, No, no, no, no.
- 1:19:16Speaker 16: Again. What did he say? What was that now?
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: I did not say I wanted to dock with Leo.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: I just said thought he was a great actor.
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: We went to break, We went, we haven't okay, yet
- 1:19:25Speaker 8: all right, now we're going to break.
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: We gotta. I think we need to clarify this because
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: I don't want it out there and the ethos that
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: somebody that I'm walking around telling people I want to
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: dock with Leo because that ain't what's happening here.
- 1:19:36Speaker 8: Okay, do not want to dock Leo? Everybody? Yes, he does.
- 1:19:40Speaker 8: We're going to break.
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: Hey, what up y'all?
- 1:19:45Speaker 19: Summer moves like a great jam session. You start with
- 1:19:48Speaker 19: one idea, one direction, and then the ships somebody calls

- 1:19:53Speaker 4: That's the beauty of it.
- 1:19:54Speaker 19: For me, Summer has always been about discovery, new sounds,
- 1:19:57Speaker 19: new places, new people, new ideas. Start one place, end
- 1:20:00Speaker 19: up somewhere completely different, and somehow that's exactly where you're
- 1:20:04Speaker 19: supposed to be. I've always had my spots along the way.
- 1:20:07Speaker 19: Starbucks has been one of those constants before session, on
- 1:20:11Speaker 19: the way to a gig, and between conversations that turn
- 1:20:13Speaker 19: into something bigger then you expect it. It's part of
- 1:20:16Speaker 19: that movement, part of that rhythm. The Summer's got its
- 1:20:19Speaker 19: own soundtrack too. You can almost hear it without trying.
- 1:20:23Speaker 19: Life's happening all around you. That feeling of staying open
- 1:20:25Speaker 19: to whatever's next. Sometimes it's the smallest things that lock

- 1:23:47Speaker 8: All right, now we're back Tom. We take a caller
- 1:23:49Speaker 8: here on this show and Joelle curates them. There are
- 1:23:53Speaker 8: zillions of people that email her and try and send
- 1:23:55Speaker 8: her Paola and she it's.
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: All steps, all the money.
- 1:24:00Speaker 8: She accepts, all the money, all the money sends.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: You send money to Joel, do it the right way.
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: Don't send like sending the real deal. How do we
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: feel thought? If you don't get picked? But money does help.
- 1:24:12Speaker 8: But you know, cash is a little crass. What you
- 1:24:14Speaker 8: could sell? Send baskets. Cash is crash. I don't know
- 1:24:18Speaker 8: if it has ever said that before, but I was
- 1:24:20Speaker 8: a good line.
- 1:24:20Speaker 16: Cash is crass.
- 1:24:21Speaker 8: Cash is crash. Send the woman a wine basket or
- 1:24:25Speaker 8: some of God's let us uh, she'll take either one. O. G.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Cush is preferred.
- 1:24:30Speaker 8: Who do we have today? Is preferred for the Tom Cavanaugh.
- 1:24:34Speaker 8: Who Who's America's favorite older brother? We have Christina?
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: Christina? Hello, where are you calling from? Christina? Kuston and
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: the House?
- 1:24:52Speaker 8: Christina, you're an e onurse. We heard, so that means
- 1:24:55Speaker 8: you're gonna get even more respect than the average caller.
- 1:24:58Speaker 8: We give our callers a lot of respect, but an
- 1:25:00Speaker 8: our nurse gets top respect.
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: From thank you.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: What's it like like right now you guys are in Houston,
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: it's a it sucks.
- 1:25:08Speaker 8: Yeah, what's the status? I think I had heard that
- 1:25:12Speaker 8: Texas was legitimately running out of ICU beds.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:25:16Speaker 7: I mean, we tried to ship out a critical patient
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: the other night and couldn't get a hospital that could
- 1:25:21Speaker 7: take him in Houston. We tried to lie fight him
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: out because we didn't have a specialist for it and
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: could not find a hospital.
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: It's tragic. It's tragic, my god.
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: And people need to hear from people like you on
- 1:25:31Speaker 8: the front lines because I think a lot of people,
- 1:25:34Speaker 8: you know, as we've talked about on the show, Donald
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: and I lost a friend and uh, and I think
- 1:25:39Speaker 8: people like you who are on the front lines, people
- 1:25:41Speaker 8: like us who've lost a loved one, we're seeing him.
- 1:25:44Speaker 8: And Dan was explaining something on the show. I thought
- 1:25:48Speaker 8: that was really really landing with me that unless you're
- 1:25:51Speaker 8: on the front lines and the seeing it, you can
- 1:25:53Speaker 8: kind of live in this sort of dream world where
- 1:25:55Speaker 8: you you know, you're just you know, obviously, I know
- 1:25:57Speaker 8: people are suffering, they're not working and the kids are
- 1:25:59Speaker 8: in school, but it cannot it's a little bit out
- 1:26:02Speaker 8: of sight, out of mind, whereas someone like you who's
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: seeing this every single day, it must be just very
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: very traumatic for you.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: We also see what COVID does to people too, what
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: and and and and a lot of people that's something
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: that Americans don't see. We don't see the uh, what's
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: what's left up people after COVID has ravaged their bodies
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: and uh and and you know, rect habit rectavic on
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: their organs and stuff.
- 1:26:32Speaker 7: So, uh, it's just a it's a slide in the
- 1:26:35Speaker 7: face when we're risking our lives and then people are
- 1:26:38Speaker 7: on here saying.
- 1:26:38Speaker 16: It's a hoax or that it's a.
- 1:26:42Speaker 7: It's just frustrating because we don't have any reason to
- 1:26:44Speaker 7: lie about it, right, I know, I know.
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: By the way we see that. But we see that.
- 1:26:47Speaker 8: I see even in our comments on on Instagram. I
- 1:26:49Speaker 8: won't know I you saw this. Donald, People were like
- 1:26:52Speaker 8: enough of the mask talk. You're becoming like every other show.
- 1:26:55Speaker 8: And I want to like throw my fucking phone at
- 1:26:58Speaker 8: the wall because I've is like our friend just died.
- 1:27:01Speaker 8: So there's gonna be some COVID talk wear a fucking mask, right,
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: But anyway, we thank you for for I just think
- 1:27:10Speaker 8: there's nothing more noble than being a nurse. And there's
- 1:27:14Speaker 8: extra cherry on top for doing it in the er
- 1:27:17Speaker 8: because the things you must see.
- 1:27:20Speaker 7: And I want to thank y'all real quick for the
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: video that y'all did with Neil Patrick Harris thanking all
- 1:27:24Speaker 7: the healthcare workers. It did not get enough props, but
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: it really meant something.
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: Oh, thank you. So let's switch to something more like
- 1:27:33Speaker 8: where our main mission is to make people gig a
- 1:27:36Speaker 8: little bit. Do you have any questions for for us
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: about scrubs or anything could be about the flash? I
- 1:27:40Speaker 8: don't know.
- 1:27:42Speaker 7: My first question is what's the craziest thing A fan
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: has asked, yoell.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, have you ever signed anyone? And then
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: they you saw them again and they were like, I
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: turned your signature into a tattoo.
- 1:27:51Speaker 8: Yes, I've had that, and.
- 1:27:54Speaker 18: People get tattoos of you?
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: Is that weird?
- 1:27:56Speaker 18: Yeah?
- 1:27:56Speaker 8: I was talking about this yesterday. There's some really weird
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: tattoos of me out there. And also I actually liked
- 1:28:03Speaker 8: the ones. Some people have tattooed lines from Garden State
- 1:28:07Speaker 8: that were meaningful to them. A film I wrote, so
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: I that I think is really cool because my something
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: I came up with was meant enough to them to
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: put on their body as a as a as whatever
- 1:28:19Speaker 8: a mantra if you will. But what I've seen, like
- 1:28:22Speaker 8: like the weirdest faces I've made on Scrubs where I'm like,
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: you know, like screaming out of fear, like actually in
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: this episode with Tom where I'm like screaming out of fear,
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: And I've seen that on like someone's thigh. Donald, I
- 1:28:35Speaker 8: saw a tattoo of you that as church that looked
- 1:28:37Speaker 8: so dumbing like you.
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: It looked nothing like me. It looked like Charles Barkley.
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: You're on my back and it looked like Charles literally
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: Now you know, as a kid, I was a big
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: fan of Charles Barklay. But it didn't look anything like me.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: It looked literally like Charles Barkley.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: The weirdest thing that's ever happened to me. I get
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: a lot of people asking for it to eagle.
- 1:29:00Speaker 8: Yes, that happens to you a lot because they think
- 1:29:02Speaker 8: you're very strong and they don't.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: Know I can hold a lot of people up there.
- 1:29:06Speaker 8: Yeah, but it's it's Donald. You do let a lot
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: more people mount you than I would ever.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: Listen. If you are brave enough to ask me, I
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: will most likely oblige now that.
- 1:29:22Speaker 16: You shouldn't, he said, most likely fine print That being
- 1:29:28Speaker 16: said that.
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: The fine print, Tom is like you must have been
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: under a certain amount of weight before trying to please
- 1:29:33Speaker 8: install permisson. Don't do it in front of his children
- 1:29:35Speaker 8: or his wife will bitch slap you.
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: Well, the fine print is the fine print truly is
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: like it has to be a special occasion. It can't
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: just be out of nowhere, like you walk down the
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: street and like, let's eagle and that's not gonna happen.
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: It has to be you know, it has to be
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: something like if I'm at a conference.
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: And it's you know what I mean, and they got
- 1:29:59Speaker 8: to catch you when you're woozy.
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: So that's the one thing that that's the one thing
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: that that's pretty weird is that being asked to eagle.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: It's like, really want to jump on my back? You
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: feel that comfortable right now to walk up to me,
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: ask me to give you an ask and ask me
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: to give you a piggyback ride?
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: Tom? Have you ever had a weird fan moments? I
- 1:30:19Speaker 8: bet some of your young Flash fans have asked for
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: something odd.
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: I think just what you were saying earlier, I think
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: it really tests your metal as an actor when somebody
- 1:30:30Speaker 6: suddenly unveils a tattoo of you on them, because you know,
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: I think the reaction they're looking for is like, oh
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: that's great, wow, you know, but really your reaction is
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: ah right, yeah, you know, and you really got to
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: you got to try and cover that as best you
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: can because they've got, you know, a permanent ink on their.
- 1:30:50Speaker 8: Body read it. I'm just war of course you you're.
- 1:30:56Speaker 6: Naturally assumed they're going to regret it.
- 1:30:58Speaker 16: You think the next day.
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: You don't think you're gonna end up seeing it ever,
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: But yeah, of course it's going to be a massive regret.
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: Well, we talked before you came on to about how
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: I'm gonna get Donald on my face, just like Joel Joel.
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: Joel reminded us that I should not attempt to shade
- 1:31:16Speaker 8: it in at all, because.
- 1:31:18Speaker 16: Uh huh, I listened. I listened to your episode.
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: Yeah listen.
- 1:31:21Speaker 6: Of course you guys were very well.
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: Joelle just came on in a moment of nervousness being
- 1:31:27Speaker 8: like guys, guys, here's.
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: The voice, here's the voice of reason.
- 1:31:32Speaker 8: Please listen to the voice of I assure Joel that
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: would be solely an outline of his beautiful face.
- 1:31:38Speaker 7: How many people have sent you in apple teini in
- 1:31:41Speaker 7: the bar?
- 1:31:42Speaker 8: Oh, that's a very good question. That's happened a bunch
- 1:31:45Speaker 8: I got and sent a lot of apple teini's. They don't,
- 1:31:49Speaker 8: I don't you don't like apple, Just be honest, it's
- 1:31:51Speaker 8: very sweet. It's sugar, I don't. I mean, I understand
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: it if you're if you're young, or if you're if
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: you're out for a night and you want to have
- 1:31:58Speaker 8: a funny cocktail. But I just think that if you
- 1:32:00Speaker 8: shouldn't get drunk on them because they are so filled.
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: With sugar headache the next day.
- 1:32:05Speaker 8: I'm one of the owners of a restaurant in New
- 1:32:08Speaker 8: York that I'll give a plug to now called the
- 1:32:10Speaker 8: Mermaid Oyster Bar and seventy seventy nine McDougall if you'd
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: like to check it out when the world reopens.
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: But do they serve oysters at this oyster Yes, they have.
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: The sixteen different types of oysters. Wow, I love that
- 1:32:24Speaker 8: you just said. Do they serve oysters at this oyster bar.
- 1:32:28Speaker 16: He was trying to trying to see if it was.
- 1:32:31Speaker 8: No good, he'd be a good friend, and trying to
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: tell us more about this. So you probably want to
- 1:32:37Speaker 8: know about our lobster roll.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: Donald, Do you have a lobster roll?
- 1:32:40Speaker 13: Oh?
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: We have lobster roll in Manhattan, and I'll tell you
- 1:32:43Speaker 8: that right now.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: Really.
- 1:32:44Speaker 8: Yeah, And my point was is that the owner told
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: me that. He's like, do you have an idea why
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: people keep coming in and ordering Apple teenies?
- 1:32:52Speaker 16: That's funny?
- 1:32:53Speaker 8: And he's like, I was like, I don't know, but
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: can you make them? He's like, no, we're not making
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: apple tinis, but just people. Just tell your fans to
- 1:32:58Speaker 8: stop ordering.
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: Out when we were young and they were tasty, though,
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: I don't know. Do you like them?
- 1:33:07Speaker 16: Christina?
- 1:33:08Speaker 7: A little sweep for me?
- 1:33:10Speaker 8: Do you have another question for us? Christina?
- 1:33:13Speaker 7: So Scrubs one, what is your most memorable scene that
- 1:33:15Speaker 7: you filmed?
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:33:17Speaker 16: Heavy question, good question.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:33:21Speaker 8: Well Tom can go first because he's the guest. He's
- 1:33:24Speaker 8: got less to think about it because he's only did
- 1:33:26Speaker 8: six or so episodes.
- 1:33:27Speaker 16: It's easy.
- 1:33:28Speaker 6: It was just, you know, I loved almost every scene
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: we did for comedy. There was one where the three
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: of us were.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: Part buddies where we did the farts.
- 1:33:38Speaker 16: Yeah, we were goofing.
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: Around the thing and that we had to we were
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: eating breakfast and then we had to go. I had
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: to go to the bathroom and it just became this
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: long running I'll be in there for one minute, two minutes,
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: five minutes, ten minutes, one minute, and then the other
- 1:33:50Speaker 6: one was just the John Ritter stuff. To have been
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: like a part of that with with you guys, was
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: you know it was? It was meaningful. Certainly the bathtubs.
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: The bathtub scene was a little less fun than you
- 1:34:03Speaker 6: might expect. At one point, John c Riley is like,
- 1:34:07Speaker 6: by now you're sitting in what a bounts to probably
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: eighty percent of your own urine, And I.
- 1:34:13Speaker 16: Think that was probably closer to the truth. So less fun.
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: But at the same time, you know, it's one thing
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: that I hear a lot, you know about the Captain
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: bubble Beard or whatever the heck it was called. Anyway,
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: you guys, that's enough. Now you've had enough time. I've stalled,
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: well enough, I feel, and now you guys have the
- 1:34:29Speaker 6: tarmac ready talk about your best shows.
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: We answered something similar to this recently but I wonder
- 1:34:35Speaker 8: if it's the same answer for you. Donald, go ahead,
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: well the.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Star Wars, Oh yeah, you're right. Also getting the opportunity
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: to do an Indiana Jones situation in someone's colon, it
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: was a lot of fun, right, doing the whole opening
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: to Raders of the Lost Dark in side of someone's colony.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Fun.
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: And then, to be honest with you, one of my
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: favorite scenes, it's a song but Zach and I singing
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: everything comes down to Pooh. Still to this day is
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: one of my like I watched that with the smile,
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: and I can't watch a lot of the things that
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: I do, but that's one thing that I've done where
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: I'm like that was. That was fucking a great time
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: shooting that.
- 1:35:20Speaker 8: Yeah. One of my favorite times was repelling across the
- 1:35:24Speaker 8: fake city street on the Universal back lot on the
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: episode where Donald and I go on a quest to
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: find Molly, Heather Graham's character, and we repel across the
- 1:35:34Speaker 8: street and then nail the wall and I fall into
- 1:35:37Speaker 8: a bunch of garbage and then I get up and
- 1:35:40Speaker 8: she looks at me, and I act like I'm surprised
- 1:35:42Speaker 8: to see her, and I go Molly.
- 1:35:45Speaker 6: Doing here?
- 1:35:46Speaker 8: That was just the most fun because.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: You know, do you remember how you got the to
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: repel across.
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: The rope which I pulled your shirt off of you.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: No, you pulled my gown off of me. Then I
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: have a gown on it or it wasn't a shirt.
- 1:35:59Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, And I go and I go, yeah, I
- 1:36:02Speaker 8: pull it off and you gasp, and then you're shirtless.
- 1:36:05Speaker 8: And then I turn it. I turn I turned into
- 1:36:09Speaker 8: a thing to repel across the street. And then and
- 1:36:12Speaker 8: then I go Molly, and she goes, what are you
- 1:36:14Speaker 8: doing here? And then all of a sudden, you just
- 1:36:15Speaker 8: see Donald in the background drop down in the frame naked.
- 1:36:23Speaker 8: So that was just so fun because you know, we
- 1:36:25Speaker 8: didn't always Yeah, as I've said before on the podcast,
- 1:36:28Speaker 8: that episode was like so epic, we didn't always do
- 1:36:30Speaker 8: episodes that were that big. And there we were like
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: taking over the Universal backlot to do that scene, and
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: I was directing and and it was just funny. I
- 1:36:39Speaker 8: remember just laughing my ass off that night. All right, well,
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: we got to go because our show's going so incredibly long.
- 1:36:46Speaker 8: But Christina, thank you, and in all sincerity, thank you
- 1:36:49Speaker 8: so much for what you do and for being on
- 1:36:52Speaker 8: the front lines for us.
- 1:36:53Speaker 7: Can I just see y'all to give a quick shout
- 1:36:55Speaker 7: out to my best friends that are super jealous right
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: now of course, Preston and Nikki.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: Yo, Preston, Nikki, it's down a faison.
- 1:37:04Speaker 8: And I'm Zach Braff and Zachroft and tell me, sorry,
- 1:37:15Speaker 8: what's happening y'all? What's happening y'all? What's happening? By pressent
- 1:37:21Speaker 8: and Nikki and bye, Christina, Thank you so much, thank you, Christina.
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: Now listen, it's not beneath us. It scrubs to do
- 1:37:28Speaker 8: a fart joke every now and then.
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: And uh and this your family loves to fart. Dorians
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: love to fart, dude, It's true.
- 1:37:35Speaker 8: Oh, by the way, we were, we were, we were.
- 1:37:36Speaker 8: We were lucky enough to have the late John Ritter
- 1:37:39Speaker 8: do a fart joke on on the show before he
- 1:37:41Speaker 8: passed away. And now we have the great Tom Cavanaugh
- 1:37:44Speaker 8: honoring us with a fart joke. We we sprinkled him around.
- 1:37:48Speaker 16: That sprinkle him around, good analogy. Your reaction is tremendous.
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: It's like it's everywhere. It's a man who can't escape.
- 1:37:59Speaker 8: It's so horrible, though, when when someone is flatulent in
- 1:38:03Speaker 8: a car and you don't have control of the window.
- 1:38:05Speaker 8: Isn't it just a horrible, horrible moment of life.
- 1:38:08Speaker 6: I think an airplane is worse, but yes, airplane. Everybody's
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: staring straight ahead, and the moment.
- 1:38:19Speaker 8: On a plane where you're like, you don't want anyone
- 1:38:21Speaker 8: to think it's you to react, you have to go, oh, geez.
- 1:38:25Speaker 8: I always put my t shirt over my nose so
- 1:38:27Speaker 8: people know, like, oh, he's reacting. It's clearly not him, right.
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: It's just like when you go into the bathroom after
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: somebody took a ship and on the airplane, and then
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: you've got to come out and face all the people.
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: I'm sure we've talked about it.
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: We have.
- 1:38:41Speaker 8: We talked about that horrible thing. And especially when you're
- 1:38:43Speaker 8: in the public eye, you don't want someone to be like, dude,
- 1:38:45Speaker 8: I was on a plane and Tom Cavanaugh crossed the
- 1:38:48Speaker 8: bathroom and meanwhile you're thinking, like, no, mother effort, that
- 1:38:52Speaker 8: was the guy before me.
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't know if i'd be that upset,
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: but okay, yeah, I.
- 1:38:59Speaker 8: Have an anxiety about when I go into a bathroom
- 1:39:01Speaker 8: and it's been just rocked, and then I come out
- 1:39:04Speaker 8: and I'm like, I didn't do that. That was someone
- 1:39:07Speaker 8: before me.
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: I should do something an anxiety about public restrooms? Period?
- 1:39:11Speaker 8: Dude, do you paper? You put toilet paper down on
- 1:39:13Speaker 8: the seat?
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: Listen, man, we could go to the movies the whole family.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: Back when going to the movies was a thing. We'd
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: be at the movie theater if I and the movie
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: could be five minutes away from starting. If I feel
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: even the slightest bit of a bubble in my guts,
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: We're going home. Oh really, I'm not shitting at.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: A movie theater.
- 1:39:32Speaker 8: Your poor kids, what do they do?
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: They cry on the way home.
- 1:39:37Speaker 8: That's you're kids home because you had to poop.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: Listen. I remember I remember one time going to a
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: club and getting to the club and being at the
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: club and uh, you know, about to dance and it
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: was lit that night, and feeling a bubble in my
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: guts and being like, you know what, I'm going home.
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:39:55Speaker 8: At restaurants, so you never pull, you never pull in public.
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: I try my hardest not to poo in public. I
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: have a phobia of it. It's uh, I don't know, man.
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: Do you keep your outings to a concentric circle where
- 1:40:08Speaker 6: you can make the getaway if you have to.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: No, there's been times where I was like, yo, I
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: gotta do something. We gotta do something. Do you have friends.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: It's just something about a public a public restroom is I.
- 1:40:19Speaker 8: Used to have that. For some reason, I can't it.
- 1:40:22Speaker 8: When I was a kid, I had it. I got
- 1:40:23Speaker 8: over it. But one thing I can't do is if
- 1:40:25Speaker 8: it were in the men's room and there's and there's
- 1:40:27Speaker 8: a line of stalls, I cannot poo if someone else
- 1:40:31Speaker 8: is in the stall, I have to wait until the
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: stalls are empty. I can't hear it next like me,
- 1:40:38Speaker 8: I just can't wait to hear that. But also I
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: can't sit next to the person and they're like farting
- 1:40:43Speaker 8: and you hear them like E, I can't. It's too
- 1:40:47Speaker 8: uncomfortable for me.
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: You got a hand it to them for their effort.
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: You know, they really have to go.
- 1:41:03Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: I don't want to be that guy. Man, I've been.
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: I've been in the bathroom where another man did that.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: And I was a kid. I was very young, and
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: it was me and we were doing a commercial. It
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: was a basketball commercial. What yeah, it was a basketball commercial.
- 1:41:17Speaker 16: Already jealous, I know we should.
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: Talk about basketball. You have to come back on because
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: we need to talk about our NBA Entertainment League days
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: and all that stuff.
- 1:41:24Speaker 8: Tom, Tom, will you already since we since you're.
- 1:41:30Speaker 16: Joe, you heard this, Dan, you heard this right.
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: So I was invited.
- 1:41:34Speaker 16: So that's what that's what those are going to be.
- 1:41:36Speaker 8: Now one pound, now you'll be back, be back.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: But we were filming a basketball commercial and I was
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: very young and one, but I wasn't young enough where
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: my parents had to be there. But there was one
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: kid who was very young and his dad had to
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: be there, and his dad would play basket. We were
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: playing like we were all doing this you know, uh
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: uh the commercial. So we were all playing like full
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: courts on other basketball courts and we would play with
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: his dad too. And I remember going to the bathroom,
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: me and a bunch of other dudes. We were going
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: to take a leak and the dad was in the
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: bathroom and was having a real hard time pooping. Like
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: the type of ship like the like the type of
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: stuff was like.
- 1:42:17Speaker 18: Oh god, damn.
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: Ship.
- 1:42:22Speaker 8: Why why when someone yells.
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: Why the corn, that's the corn. That's the corn.
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: Okay, you don't corn people are might be eating when
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: they listen to.
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: This Okay, we'll cut that out. We'll cut out the corn.
- 1:42:40Speaker 8: No, I want to leave it.
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: I like, okay, all right. Anyway, My point is, I
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: remember when he came out of the bathroom, the shame
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: on his poor son's face because we were like, yo,
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: your dad's and they're blowing it up. And I think
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: that's where my phobia comes from. I don't want to
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: be that guy.
- 1:42:57Speaker 8: When I was a kid, my mom took me into
- 1:42:59Speaker 8: the stall with her. You know, I was of an
- 1:43:01Speaker 8: age where she was obviously not leaving me alone, and
- 1:43:04Speaker 8: a woman was really farting a lot as she was
- 1:43:07Speaker 8: going pooh. And then we came out to the sinks
- 1:43:10Speaker 8: and I apparently turned to the woman and pointed and went, Mom,
- 1:43:14Speaker 8: that's the lady who was farting. My mom says, like
- 1:43:25Speaker 8: to this day, that's the most embarrassing moment of her life.
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: Goodness, all right.
- 1:43:32Speaker 8: The gorilla, by the way, Donald, I literally looked. I
- 1:43:36Speaker 8: looked down at my notes and saw I thought that
- 1:43:38Speaker 8: was a really funny reveal.
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was very You think Ken was
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: ever in the suit? Oh, I don't know. That's a
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: great question.
- 1:43:44Speaker 16: That is a great question.
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: Let's ask Bill that one.
- 1:43:49Speaker 8: Let's ask Bill, because Bill, I'm sure you want to
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: say hi to the Tom Cavanaugh And you know, I
- 1:43:54Speaker 8: did notice some of the fans were missing you and
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: you're sabotaging our show by yelling the secret numbers? So Bill,
- 1:44:03Speaker 8: was Ken Jenkins ever in the gorilla suit? And also
- 1:44:07Speaker 8: say hi to Tom Kavanaugh? Bill, Hey, guys, how you doing?
- 1:44:13Speaker 15: Question number Ken Jenkins in that gorilla suit? I seem
- 1:44:17Speaker 15: to recall is what I love about Ken, you know,
- 1:44:20Speaker 15: trying to be respectful of actors. I was like, of course, Ken,
- 1:44:23Speaker 15: if you want to be the guy in the suit,
- 1:44:25Speaker 15: you know, we and I think he cut me off
- 1:44:29Speaker 15: and said, Bill, if it's not gonna you're not gonna
- 1:44:31Speaker 15: see me, I don't care if I'm ever in that grocer.
- 1:44:36Speaker 15: So I do not think Ken Jenkins was.
- 1:44:37Speaker 8: Ever in that thing?
- 1:44:39Speaker 18: Pretty sure?
- 1:44:41Speaker 17: Uh?
- 1:44:41Speaker 18: And I respect him more for it.
- 1:44:43Speaker 15: Also got to say, man, uh, not only one of
- 1:44:47Speaker 15: my favorite guest stars on the show, but an all
- 1:44:49Speaker 15: time good buddy Tom Kavanaugh.
- 1:44:51Speaker 18: Hello, sir, Oh hi Tommy?
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 1:44:53Speaker 16: Man?
- 1:44:54Speaker 15: I don't mean to steal this podcast, but it has
- 1:44:57Speaker 15: been way too long since we've seen each other. It's
- 1:45:00Speaker 15: been a it's got to be at least like for
- 1:45:02Speaker 15: like five or six or seven.
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: Or eight months.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: Eight.
- 1:45:05Speaker 17: No, thank you, Jay, turn it down season two, Damn
- 1:45:14Speaker 17: get a new you need a new trick.
- 1:45:17Speaker 8: Trying to hijack our show. You know, speaking of tricks,
- 1:45:21Speaker 8: the janitor never does his trick.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: I was I was asking.
- 1:45:24Speaker 8: I was about to ask that it's a writing it's
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: a writing flow of Bill. Sorry, what was that about?
- 1:45:30Speaker 8: Since you just tried to hijack our show by saying
- 1:45:32Speaker 8: the numbers, I will tell you, even though now you
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: can't reply that, uh, you're fucking up or Tim Oberd,
- 1:45:39Speaker 8: Tim Over, Tim Hoover, fucked up, somebody who fucked up.
- 1:45:42Speaker 8: Why do you lay in that the janitor's going to
- 1:45:44Speaker 8: do a trick and he never does. I think it's
- 1:45:47Speaker 8: a mislead for him being in the gorilla suit, but
- 1:45:50Speaker 8: but he's he's like twice Ken's height, so that doesn't
- 1:45:53Speaker 8: really work. I'm just saying, do you want to talk
- 1:45:56Speaker 8: about how great it was to have Tom Cavanaugh on
- 1:45:58Speaker 8: the podcast?
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: Dude, you have to come back. You already said you will.
- 1:46:01Speaker 6: I'm going to force your hand. That was a classic
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: misplay on your two guys parts. Here, you guys you
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: guys like, Hey, Tom, come back. He's like, he's obsessive.
- 1:46:09Speaker 6: Joelle is gonna be.
- 1:46:10Speaker 16: Like he all he does is ad. He's like, uh, please,
- 1:46:13Speaker 16: he's just come back, come back? Can I come back?
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: Dude?
- 1:46:17Speaker 8: Love me.

- 1:48:57Speaker 14: Let me be blunt. Most dog food is junk.
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: It just is.
- 1:49:00Speaker 14: And I'm not feeding junk to Biggie and Smalls. That
- 1:49:02Speaker 14: is why they eat just food for dogs. It's real,
- 1:49:05Speaker 14: one hundred percent human grade food with ingredients I actually recognize,
- 1:49:09Speaker 14: not mystery pellets pretending to be healthy. And once I switched,
- 1:49:13Speaker 14: the difference was obvious. Better digestion, better skin, more energy,
