- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time for Stacks and Hacks.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Right on.
- 0:02Speaker 3: I have stacks of information and Rich has life hacks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Anybody here into video games? Grand Theft Auto?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Sometimes. I like watching my husband play them. I like
- 0:12Speaker 2: Mario Kart.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Grand Theft Auto is like one of the biggest games.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Anticipation for this game is tremendous and the graphics are
- 0:19Speaker 3: better than ever. An economics professor thinks that the release
- 0:23Speaker 3: of Grand Theft Auto will cost businesses over a billion
- 0:26Speaker 3: dollars in lost productivity. The game comes out on a Thursday,
- 0:31Speaker 3: and an estimated 1.5 million people will skip it, will
- 0:34Speaker 3: skip work to play it all weekend.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wow.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I was just going to say, I think it's been
- 0:39Speaker 4: forever since a new GTA has come out, right? People
- 0:41Speaker 4: have just been waiting on it.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's a big time in my house.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Do you see the new South Park where they're talking
- 0:45Speaker 2: about it, like something terrible is going on in town?
- 0:47Speaker 2: They're like, but that's okay because GTA is coming out
- 0:49Speaker 2: in November.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I know. My brother's a big GTA player, so
- 0:51Speaker 4: he's pumped about that.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And HOA is catching heat after asking residents not to
- 0:58Speaker 3: hand out full-size candy bars on Halloween.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Huh?
- 1:01Speaker 3: They said their goal is to help keep the experience
- 1:03Speaker 3: consistent throughout the neighborhood and to avoid a situation where
- 1:05Speaker 3: some homes feel pressured to match larger offerings.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Oh, that's silly.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Hand out whatever you want to hand out. But yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Or not. We always handed out the full-size candy bars.
- 1:14Speaker 4: My dad had the best Halloween hack. I love Almond Joys.
- 1:19Speaker 4: And most people don't like Almond Joys. So what my
- 1:21Speaker 4: dad would do when he would hand out candy, he
- 1:23Speaker 4: would say, okay, empty out your bag. Give me all
- 1:25Speaker 4: of your Almond Joys. And every 10 Almond Joys gives
- 1:28Speaker 4: you an extra full-size candy bar.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Every 10 Almond Joys?
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Sometimes you feel like a nut. He was a hustler.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Do you know what my neighbor did?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Almond Joys got nuts. Moms don't.
- 1:38Speaker 2: My neighbor handed out, that was a huge hit last year,
- 1:40Speaker 2: was ramen noodles. Oh, that's good. The super spicy ones.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Was that actually a hit with the kids?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure.
- 1:49Speaker 4: The kids?
- 1:50Speaker 2: With the, like I'd say middle schoolers. Twins. Twins would
- 1:54Speaker 2: probably like it.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Speaking of nuts, according to a study, people who eat
- 1:57Speaker 3: a lot of nuts have a 16% lower risk of
- 2:00Speaker 3: developing high blood pressure.
- 2:02Speaker 2: These nuts. Don't you love nuts?
- 2:04Speaker 1: I love nuts. Love nuts. Also cashews.
- 2:09Speaker 3: A 33-year-old man in Canada just won a city council
- 2:11Speaker 3: election after a campaign about him not knowing what he
- 2:15Speaker 3: was doing.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He had signs that said, how hard can this be?
- 2:18Speaker 1: He goes, I barely want to do this. And people
- 2:20Speaker 1: voted him in.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I would too. How hard could it be?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Because people get so sick of politicians, right?
- 2:27Speaker 4: I know.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm so sick of them.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Do you know about what's happened in Alaska where there's
- 2:30Speaker 2: two guys with the same name?
- 2:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 2: The exact same name? Yeah. How do you know who
- 2:35Speaker 2: to vote for?
- 2:36Speaker 3: There's a negative campaign ad against one of them that
- 2:38Speaker 3: one of them's doing, but they have the same name.
- 2:42Speaker 1: This is pretty interesting. It says, do you have streaming fatigue?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Have you ever spent so much time at night looking
- 2:47Speaker 3: for something to watch that you eventually gave up and
- 2:50Speaker 3: went to bed?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:51Speaker 3: If so, you're struggling from streaming fatigue. A survey found
- 2:54Speaker 3: from a few years ago found the U.S. streamer subscriber
- 2:56Speaker 3: spends 110 hours a year searching for something to watch.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Oh, that's ridiculous.
- 3:01Speaker 3: They call it content overload. I get like that every
- 3:04Speaker 3: once in a while. Right now, The Diplomat is number
- 3:07Speaker 3: one on Netflix or number two on Netflix. And I
- 3:09Speaker 3: want to get to the Diplomat in season four. I
- 3:11Speaker 3: love the first three seasons, but there's so many other
- 3:13Speaker 3: things I'm watching right now that I can't get into
- 3:14Speaker 3: it just yet.
- 3:15Speaker 2: What else are you watching right now?
- 3:16Speaker 3: I'm watching War. I'm watching a couple stand-up comedians. I'm
- 3:20Speaker 3: watching Mobland.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Slow Horses.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Slow Horses. Season finale of Slow Horses comes out today.
- 3:26Speaker 3: There's a lot like that that I'm watching. It's just
- 3:30Speaker 3: stressful for me right now.
- 3:31Speaker 1: That's what I call it. Streaming fatigue. Streaming fatigue. Okay,
- 3:34Speaker 1: real quick.
- 3:35Speaker 3: This guy's girlfriend, they're going through the drive-thru. And I've
- 3:38Speaker 3: done this before just for fun, but I didn't know
- 3:39Speaker 3: it was a practical joke to do to people. Girl
- 3:42Speaker 3: got her boyfriend in the drive-thru to order and ask
- 3:45Speaker 3: for the order to go.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Right?
- 3:47Speaker 3: So you're going to hear, they're calling it a practical joke,
- 3:49Speaker 3: but I think it's fun.
- 3:50Speaker 2: To do anyway.
- 3:51Speaker 4: In a small Sprite to go.
- 3:53Speaker 2: In a small Sprite, please.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Darren, it's okay?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Say to go.
- 3:59Speaker 2: To go, please.
- 4:00Speaker 1: To go?
- 4:01Speaker 2: You are getting dropped here.
- 4:03Speaker 4: You do realize that, right?
- 4:05Speaker 1: I was not the one saying that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: She's telling me what to order. Thank you.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Somebody, the guy, why does he have to throw the
- 4:20Speaker 1: girlfriend out of the bus? He's going to have to go.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Stand on business.
- 4:23Speaker 2: For your life.
- 4:24Speaker 1: The guy at the drive-thru is like, anyway, it's funny. Hey, Rich,
- 4:28Speaker 1: what do you got for life hacks?
- 4:30Speaker 2: I've been doing the pumpkin carving all wrong, apparently. And
- 4:33Speaker 2: so have all of us. You know how you cut
- 4:36Speaker 2: the top and the pumpkin and you scoop out all
- 4:38Speaker 2: the guts and all that? Yeah. No, no, no, no.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Not according to the new pumpkin experts. Open it at
- 4:44Speaker 2: the bottom of the pumpkin instead. You scoop out the
- 4:46Speaker 2: guts the same way. Then you set that pumpkin down
- 4:50Speaker 2: over your light. They say don't use a candle because
- 4:52Speaker 2: that burns it. But if you use like an LED light,
- 4:55Speaker 2: you set it on top from the bottom and you
- 4:57Speaker 2: still have the top of the pumpkin. Kind of clever.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It works way better than tiny plastic things and carving
- 5:03Speaker 2: kits that, you know, makes your pumpkin look stupid, this
- 5:05Speaker 2: is going to make your pumpkin look cool. So this year,
- 5:08Speaker 2: cut it from the bottom. Let us know how that
- 5:10Speaker 2: works for you. That life hack and many more can
- 5:12Speaker 2: be found at johnjandrich.com.
