Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken, it's your dose of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:06Speaker 1: Sophie Torver and coming up on today's show, chaos erupts
- 0:10Speaker 1: as Tammy Hembrough's wedding invites are leaked, Roxy Jusanko's giveaway
- 0:15Speaker 1: saga escalates to a whole new level of PR disaster,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and Sophia Begg is accused of bullying her ex, but first,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Talia Skanes has revealed her legal battle against ex-boyfriend Mitch
- 0:28Speaker 1: Third is over. Now, back in 2022, Talia filed a
- 0:33Speaker 1: lawsuit against Mitch, alleging he owed her hundreds and thousands
- 0:37Speaker 1: of dollars from their joint e-commerce clothing venture, which was
- 0:40Speaker 1: called Third Fix Collection. Court documents revealed that Talia alleged
- 0:45Speaker 1: that the division of their business assets had allegedly triggered
- 0:49Speaker 1: verbal threats of violence from Mitch, which made her fear
- 0:52Speaker 1: for her safety. She also alleged that Mitch threatened to
- 0:55Speaker 1: publish online private images of her as well as images
- 0:59Speaker 1: and material online that would degrade her character. I do
- 1:04Speaker 1: want to point out that Mitch denied these allegations. Now,
- 1:07Speaker 1: since then, it's been unclear whether the case was settled
- 1:10Speaker 1: out of court as everything went quiet. That is until now, Kate. Yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 1: so in a recent Q & A, Talia confirmed the
- 1:17Speaker 1: legal case was over, but she didn't reveal the verdict,
- 1:20Speaker 1: which I would have loved to know. She did say
- 1:24Speaker 1: that she often gets a lot of questions about the
- 1:25Speaker 1: legal battle and wishes that she spoke about it at
- 1:28Speaker 1: the time. She conceded though that she's not the type
- 1:31Speaker 1: of person to talk about negative and serious things or
- 1:34Speaker 1: call people out publicly online. She also wrote, I also
- 1:38Speaker 1: wanted to do things the right way and when there's
- 1:40Speaker 1: lawyers and police involved and it's an active case, I
- 1:43Speaker 1: didn't want to speak publicly and was advised not to
- 1:45Speaker 1: during that time. I do wonder if that's coming from
- 1:48Speaker 1: her legal background because she is a qualified lawyer and
- 1:51Speaker 1: She then went on to say that she put on
- 1:53Speaker 1: a brave face, but she actually struggled more than she realized.
- 1:56Speaker 1: She wrote, I finally had the courage to leave my
- 1:58Speaker 1: previous relationship and move on with my life, but kept
- 2:01Speaker 1: getting dragged back down by a very expensive, very draining
- 2:04Speaker 1: legal battle. I think that perhaps the reason she's not
- 2:07Speaker 1: talking about it now or wanting to go into more
- 2:10Speaker 1: detail is because she signed a confidentiality agreement. They probably
- 2:13Speaker 1: agreed to settle outside of court So neither of them
- 2:17Speaker 1: are wanting to say too much about what's actually happened. Yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: but then why even address the question? Because that's going
- 2:22Speaker 1: to cause trouble. Well, I think she's touching on the
- 2:24Speaker 1: question because as she said, she's getting inundated with questions
- 2:27Speaker 1: about this case. She probably wanted to put it to
- 2:29Speaker 1: bed by saying it has been resolved. Yeah, well, Mitch
- 2:32Speaker 1: Third has seemingly hit back at Talia. So he posted
- 2:36Speaker 1: a selfie with the caption, Imagine your girlfriend publicly talking
- 2:40Speaker 1: about her ex three years later. Now, doesn't this just
- 2:42Speaker 1: speak absolute volumes about the type of character Mitch Third has?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Because he has phrased it that it must be so
- 2:49Speaker 1: embarrassing for Talia's current boyfriend that she's still talking about him.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It's like, buddy, she's not talking about you in a
- 2:56Speaker 1: positive light. Yeah, but it's also he is phrasing, so
- 3:00Speaker 1: her boyfriend is called Jake Sajano. He is acting as
- 3:02Speaker 1: if Talia is the property of Jake and how embarrassing
- 3:06Speaker 1: for Jake's property to be speaking out. How dare she
- 3:09Speaker 1: reflect on her past relationship because this new guy owns her.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough and Matt Zukowski's wedding invitation has been dramatically
- 3:18Speaker 1: leaked online by fellow influencer Sophia Begg. Now, during a
- 3:22Speaker 1: weekly vlog, Sophia set up her camera to capture her
- 3:26Speaker 1: recent deliveries when she discovered an invite in the post
- 3:29Speaker 1: from Tammy and Matt for their upcoming wedding. She was
- 3:33Speaker 1: very excited and ended up showing the camera a close-up
- 3:36Speaker 1: of the wedding invite. What was she thinking? Now, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: was quite surprised by the look of these wedding invites.
- 3:42Speaker 1: They had a kind of royal vibe to them. They
- 3:45Speaker 1: had these swirls around the border and large cursive writing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Someone did say they looked a bit like a pirate map,
- 3:52Speaker 1: like they were cut out like a pirate's map. Yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I was a little bit underwhelmed when I saw them
- 3:56Speaker 1: as well. They're not very chic, are they? Now, the
- 3:59Speaker 1: catch is that Sophia showed such a close-up shot of
- 4:03Speaker 1: this invite that the date and location of the wedding
- 4:07Speaker 1: was clearly visible. I'm interested to know if she's one
- 4:10Speaker 1: of those influencers that blurs her own address when she
- 4:13Speaker 1: does PR hauls because If she does that and didn't
- 4:16Speaker 1: blur this, she's got some questions she needs to answer. Well,
- 4:19Speaker 1: it didn't take long for Super Sleuths to type in
- 4:22Speaker 1: a couple of those details and locate the online version
- 4:25Speaker 1: of the invite. So Tammy and Matt have one of
- 4:28Speaker 1: those online wedding pages set up where there's a Q &
- 4:31Speaker 1: A section and lots of information about the event over
- 4:34Speaker 1: the weekend. Why would they do that? I don't mean
- 4:36Speaker 1: to victim blame, but this is the same thing that
- 4:38Speaker 1: happened to Sarah's day. It just seems like it would
- 4:41Speaker 1: be so easy to leak online information. I know sometimes
- 4:45Speaker 1: people put a password on these websites. Not to even
- 4:48Speaker 1: have a password set up is very odd. It is
- 4:51Speaker 1: all very confusing. And this website did include information about
- 4:55Speaker 1: the ceremony time, the dress code, which for reference is
- 4:58Speaker 1: black tie, the recovery details and where wedding guests will
- 5:02Speaker 1: be staying. And most importantly, the date of this wedding. Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And as Matt outlined on his podcast a few months ago,
- 5:08Speaker 1: it is very lucky because they have chosen to keep
- 5:12Speaker 1: the venue as a secret to guests right up until
- 5:15Speaker 1: the last minute. So thankfully, people don't know the actual venue,
- 5:19Speaker 1: but it has been revealed that it's a destination wedding
- 5:21Speaker 1: in Byron Bay. So there's going to be a lot
- 5:24Speaker 1: of media, a lot of paparazzi interested in getting first
- 5:27Speaker 1: photos of Tammy and her dress. And it's not going
- 5:30Speaker 1: to take them much time to work out where this
- 5:32Speaker 1: venue is. They've got enough time to do digging around
- 5:35Speaker 1: and source out where this wedding is taking place. I
- 5:39Speaker 1: do want to point out that we are choosing not
- 5:41Speaker 1: to share the date and the time of certain events
- 5:44Speaker 1: because I think that that has the potential to jeopardise
- 5:48Speaker 1: the couple's day and also their safety because you never
- 5:51Speaker 1: know if fans are going to rock up or if
- 5:54Speaker 1: the media are going to scout out the location. I mean,
- 5:58Speaker 1: highly likely they are going to. I just find it
- 6:01Speaker 1: so ironic that it was an influencer who leaked this information.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I would love to know the conversation that's gone on
- 6:06Speaker 1: between Tammy and And so for Dover now. I do
- 6:09Speaker 1: really feel for Tammy because she obviously knows that there's
- 6:12Speaker 1: going to be a lot of media interest in this story.
- 6:15Speaker 1: So much so that they've decided to keep the venue
- 6:18Speaker 1: a secret right up until the last minute. And now
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's been made 10 times easier for the media because
- 6:24Speaker 1: they can book out Byron Bay ahead of the wedding.
- 6:26Speaker 1: They can go and scout out locations. They can start
- 6:29Speaker 1: speaking to people on the ground. And essentially they can
- 6:33Speaker 1: try and get the first shot of Tammy. before she
- 6:35Speaker 1: has the opportunity to share it to her followers. I
- 6:38Speaker 1: was interested to see how other pages dealt with this
- 6:41Speaker 1: because we did have people trying to post the details
- 6:44Speaker 1: in our Facebook group, but we didn't approve the post
- 6:46Speaker 1: because as you said, I felt bad being a part
- 6:50Speaker 1: of this leak. Now, Influencer Updates AU, she ended up
- 6:54Speaker 1: sharing details of the couple's online wedding invite to her
- 6:57Speaker 1: close friend's story. So people who subscribe to her channel
- 7:00Speaker 1: could see this information. Now she's been on Matt and
- 7:04Speaker 1: Anna's podcast before. Oh, I forgot that. Yeah. So Matt
- 7:07Speaker 1: actually reached out to her and asked if she could
- 7:10Speaker 1: take it down, which she did. It also appears that
- 7:13Speaker 1: Tammy and Matt reached out to Sofa Dofa because that
- 7:16Speaker 1: section of the vlog has now been edited. It was
- 7:19Speaker 1: just such a major fuck up by Sofa Dofa. I
- 7:23Speaker 1: just want to know what she was thinking. I wonder
- 7:25Speaker 1: if it comes down to her age because I feel
- 7:28Speaker 1: like there are just so many unspoken wedding etiquette rules
- 7:32Speaker 1: that maybe she didn't realize that you shouldn't be posting
- 7:35Speaker 1: the invite. I mean, it's an even bigger issue when
- 7:38Speaker 1: this is a celebrity couple and people are trying to
- 7:41Speaker 1: work out the date and where they're having it. I
- 7:43Speaker 1: wonder if it is a bit of a flex to
- 7:45Speaker 1: say that she is invited. I have found it pretty
- 7:47Speaker 1: amusing that people seem to be obsessed over the fact
- 7:50Speaker 1: that Tammy has stipulated on the invite that it's a
- 7:53Speaker 1: kid-free event. Obviously, Tammy has three kids of her own.
- 7:57Speaker 1: She also has a lot of nieces and nephews. So
- 8:00Speaker 1: I think a lot of people were shocked by this request.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It did surprise me. I thought that if anything, she
- 8:06Speaker 1: would be encouraging people to bring their kids along and
- 8:09Speaker 1: really incorporating her kids into the day. Yeah. Another big
- 8:13Speaker 1: one that captured a lot of media headlines was around
- 8:16Speaker 1: the fact that Tammy and Matt have a wishing well.
- 8:19Speaker 1: A wishing well is a very normal thing most couples
- 8:22Speaker 1: now have at their weddings. But the media seemed to
- 8:25Speaker 1: be obsessed with the fact that Tammy is worth $ 50
- 8:27Speaker 1: million and it's very tacky of her to ask people
- 8:30Speaker 1: for a gift. Well, Channel 7 even ran with the headline,
- 8:34Speaker 1: Aussie AFR Rich Lister Tammy Hembrough worth $ 50 million asks
- 8:39Speaker 1: for donations for her upcoming wedding to reality star Matt Sikowski.
- 8:43Speaker 1: But she hasn't asked for donations. It's a wishing well.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It is a wedding gift. Like, I don't understand all
- 8:50Speaker 1: of the hype around it because, okay, She is worth
- 8:53Speaker 1: a lot of money, but she's been to her friend's
- 8:56Speaker 1: weddings and she's provided a gift. And Matt Zukowski, he's
- 9:00Speaker 1: not worth a lot. Maybe he needs the money. I know.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I mean, I did want to have a look at
- 9:05Speaker 1: how they actually phrased it because I know with us,
- 9:07Speaker 1: we tried to do a cute little poem. So their
- 9:11Speaker 1: thing read, your presence on the day is the greatest
- 9:13Speaker 1: gift of all. However, if you would like to gift
- 9:16Speaker 1: us something, a wishing well will be at our wedding
- 9:19Speaker 1: for contributions and well wishes. So, I mean, she's not
- 9:22Speaker 1: specifying that in order to get into the wedding, you
- 9:25Speaker 1: have to pay money. It's just saying, if you would
- 9:28Speaker 1: like it, we have a wishing well set up. I
- 9:31Speaker 1: do think that the level of discomfort about the wishing
- 9:34Speaker 1: well is coming from the fact that sections of this
- 9:38Speaker 1: wedding are being sponsored. So we already know that she
- 9:41Speaker 1: has a sponsorship deal with Vera Wang, which will slash
- 9:45Speaker 1: tens of thousands of dollars from the overall budget. And
- 9:49Speaker 1: some people are also saying that potentially Tammy may have
- 9:53Speaker 1: a deal lined up with a magazine so she could
- 9:55Speaker 1: be giving first access to her wedding photos. So some
- 9:58Speaker 1: people are thinking, well, she could actually be making money
- 10:01Speaker 1: off this wedding. So why should her guests have to
- 10:04Speaker 1: give her money? But I still think that this couple
- 10:07Speaker 1: are going to have a pretty hefty bill for their
- 10:09Speaker 1: wedding because the majority of the costs do come down
- 10:12Speaker 1: to the venue and the food and the alcohol and
- 10:15Speaker 1: which in my opinion is not going to be sponsored.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Just thinking about it a little bit more, we do
- 10:20Speaker 1: know that it is a destination wedding. So Matt is
- 10:23Speaker 1: based in Melbourne and Tammy is on the Gold Coast.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Is it a little bit cheeky now thinking about it
- 10:29Speaker 1: to ask for a Wishing Well donation when guests are
- 10:31Speaker 1: probably having to travel there? Or do we think perhaps,
- 10:34Speaker 1: I mean, these details might have been on the invite,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm not sure. that they're covering the cost of the
- 10:40Speaker 1: accommodation and the flight. They did suggest some possible places
- 10:44Speaker 1: for guests to stay on the website, but to me,
- 10:47Speaker 1: it didn't look as though they were covering the cost
- 10:49Speaker 1: of it. You'd be extra pissed off now that this
- 10:52Speaker 1: invite has leaked because as I mentioned, the media are
- 10:56Speaker 1: probably going to be booking out a lot of the
- 10:58Speaker 1: accommodation in Byron Bay and that is going to lift
- 11:01Speaker 1: the prices everywhere. Well, what do you give a multimillionaire
- 11:05Speaker 1: in their wishing well? It's a hard one because, I mean,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you've got to remember, I would personally feel uncomfortable rocking
- 11:11Speaker 1: up with nothing. I think that that is the height
- 11:13Speaker 1: of rudeness. Yeah. Sometimes I think that the card is
- 11:16Speaker 1: more important than how much money you give. I think
- 11:19Speaker 1: that you should always make sure that you have a
- 11:21Speaker 1: very heartfelt and beautiful message to your friend because it
- 11:24Speaker 1: is such an important day for them. In saying that, socially,
- 11:27Speaker 1: there are always going to be expectations to give a
- 11:30Speaker 1: certain amount of money. particularly when you are going to
- 11:34Speaker 1: what I assume is going to be a very luxe
- 11:36Speaker 1: and expensive wedding because what was also revealed on the
- 11:40Speaker 1: invite is that the Nuptial Collective is going to be
- 11:43Speaker 1: planning this wedding. So if you haven't heard of them before,
- 11:47Speaker 1: it is a very high-end wedding planning business and they
- 11:50Speaker 1: have worked with some notable high-profile brides such as Brooke
- 11:53Speaker 1: Hogan and also shameless as Zara McDonald. So the business
- 11:57Speaker 1: is known for working on very high-end weddings that do
- 12:01Speaker 1: come with a hefty price tag. Yeah, but your normal
- 12:04Speaker 1: everyday person that's going to that wedding isn't going to
- 12:06Speaker 1: know that that's a high-profile wedding planner. Yeah, but they
- 12:09Speaker 1: know that Tammy and Matt are high-profile and obviously they're
- 12:12Speaker 1: going to drop a lot of money. But also in
- 12:14Speaker 1: the same vein, I don't think that you should have
- 12:16Speaker 1: to essentially give more money just because someone is choosing
- 12:19Speaker 1: to hold an expensive wedding. Yeah, and I think because
- 12:22Speaker 1: people know how much Tammy is worth that any donation
- 12:25Speaker 1: that they make will probably be appreciated. So I think
- 12:27Speaker 1: you would just stick with what you normally give at
- 12:29Speaker 1: a wedding. I did see the influencer updates, you suggested
- 12:33Speaker 1: that couples should be spending a thousand to $ 2, 000. And
- 12:36Speaker 1: I was like, what? Yeah. I mean, there are going
- 12:39Speaker 1: to be some high profile influences and entrepreneurs there, but
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think they're only having 120 people. I think most
- 12:46Speaker 1: of it will be family and friends who don't have
- 12:48Speaker 1: that much money. It does surprise me a little bit
- 12:51Speaker 1: that they didn't decide instead of a wishing well to
- 12:54Speaker 1: do like a donation to say, you know, if you
- 12:58Speaker 1: would like to bring a donation, we'll put it towards
- 13:00Speaker 1: this charity. Yeah, I think that would have been a
- 13:02Speaker 1: nice touch and a good PR move. But I mean,
- 13:05Speaker 1: they didn't know that their wedding invite was going to
- 13:07Speaker 1: be leaked. You would have thought that that was private.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I do feel for them though, because essentially I do
- 13:13Speaker 1: think that they should still be allowed to have a
- 13:15Speaker 1: wishing well if that's what they want. Well, it has
- 13:18Speaker 1: been a big week for Tammy and Matt. So all
- 13:20Speaker 1: of that has gone down. Plus, Matt's podcast co-host, Anna McAvoy,
- 13:24Speaker 1: got tongues wagging when she uploaded a TikTok with the caption,
- 13:28Speaker 1: when the disrespect is louder than the apology. Now, she
- 13:32Speaker 1: recently got married in Greece, which we spoke about a lot.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And she also runs a fake tanning business called Goldie
- 13:39Speaker 1: B with her husband. And followers immediately thought that Anna
- 13:43Speaker 1: was throwing shade at Tammy Hembrough, because she recently promoted
- 13:47Speaker 1: a Bondi Sands face tanner a few days earlier. Now,
- 13:51Speaker 1: fans thought Anna was upset at Tammy for promoting a
- 13:54Speaker 1: rival brand. I did notice the other day, she also
- 13:58Speaker 1: promoted Sunday Riley's tanning drops as well. I'm sorry, but
- 14:02Speaker 1: why shouldn't she be allowed to do her job and
- 14:04Speaker 1: promote other tanning brands just because Matt's co-host has a
- 14:09Speaker 1: small business. Like I don't see why. I think probably
- 14:12Speaker 1: because there's been this big push to promote the fact
- 14:14Speaker 1: that Anna and Tammy are friends now. And I personally
- 14:18Speaker 1: could see how it would be a little bit annoying
- 14:20Speaker 1: if you've got this business. and you're friends with someone
- 14:24Speaker 1: and then they're paid like a shit ton of money
- 14:26Speaker 1: to promote a rival product. I do want to point
- 14:28Speaker 1: out that Anna has confirmed she was not speaking about
- 14:31Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough in that TikTok video. Do we believe that though?
- 14:35Speaker 1: I tend to believe her. I think that she was
- 14:38Speaker 1: actually trying to throw shade at one of her bridesmaids
- 14:42Speaker 1: who ended up not being in her wedding. We did
- 14:44Speaker 1: discuss a couple of weeks ago how Anna and Michael
- 14:47Speaker 1: had to get one of the groomsmen to become a
- 14:49Speaker 1: celebrant because she didn't want her bridesmaids and groomsmen not
- 14:52Speaker 1: looking even because she had one less bridesmaid. And someone
- 14:57Speaker 1: did contact our page and say, hey, she actually had
- 14:59Speaker 1: a falling out with one of her bridesmaids. So again,
- 15:02Speaker 1: I don't know if that's actually confirmed, but a lot
- 15:05Speaker 1: of people are speculating that she's mad at the bridesmaid.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Roxy Jasenko's $ 10 million house giveaway saga has escalated to
- 15:13Speaker 1: a whole new level of PR disaster. The competition draw,
- 15:17Speaker 1: which was scheduled to take place last Friday, was put
- 15:20Speaker 1: on hold after the New South Wales Supreme Court appointed
- 15:24Speaker 1: a provisional liquidator to the company running the promotion. The
- 15:28Speaker 1: decision was handed down following a successful application by Roxy. Now, Kate,
- 15:33Speaker 1: when we last discussed this debacle, Roxy had just announced
- 15:36Speaker 1: she was issuing refunds. What has happened since? Well, that's right.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So a couple of weeks ago, Roxy revealed that she
- 15:43Speaker 1: was stepping away from the controversial giveaway due to a
- 15:46Speaker 1: falling out she had with the two business partners. The
- 15:49Speaker 1: PR queen announced that she would personally be refunding everyone
- 15:53Speaker 1: who entered the competition after she claimed she discovered the
- 15:57Speaker 1: lavish prizes promoted could not be guaranteed. Now, since Roxy's
- 16:01Speaker 1: announcement made the news, the two remaining directors of the company,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Tills and Olawi, announced they would continue with the promotion
- 16:09Speaker 1: without Roxy. They also denied Roxy's claims. Now, as a refresher,
- 16:14Speaker 1: the promotion was packaged up as a subscription to Roxy's
- 16:17Speaker 1: marketing school. with an entry into the draw to win
- 16:20Speaker 1: the major prize of a $ 10 million house, alongside $ 250, 000 cash,
- 16:26Speaker 1: a Birkin bag, and a Rolex. There was confusion, though,
- 16:30Speaker 1: from the get-go, as it turned out that the winner
- 16:32Speaker 1: would only gain entry into the game of chance to
- 16:35Speaker 1: win the home. Now, as we mentioned, the competition was
- 16:38Speaker 1: set to be drawn on Friday. However, on Wednesday, the
- 16:42Speaker 1: Supreme Court of New South Wales ordered that provisional liquidators
- 16:46Speaker 1: take over the company. So this was off the back
- 16:49Speaker 1: of an application Roxy made to the court after her
- 16:52Speaker 1: business partners refused her request to stop the promotion. Now,
- 16:56Speaker 1: Roxy claims she made the application in a bid to
- 16:59Speaker 1: protect the public as she alleges the company was not
- 17:02Speaker 1: in a position to ensure the house, if one, would
- 17:06Speaker 1: be available as a prize. Now, interestingly, it has been
- 17:10Speaker 1: revealed in court that a subclause existed that stated the
- 17:14Speaker 1: $ 10 million property was would only be delivered if the
- 17:17Speaker 1: competition achieved more than $ 11. 5 million in revenue. So the
- 17:22Speaker 1: clause stated, in the event that the promotion revenue is
- 17:25Speaker 1: less than the minimum revenue amount, the parties agree that
- 17:28Speaker 1: the property will not be made available and the company
- 17:31Speaker 1: will not be required to acquire the property. Now, in
- 17:34Speaker 1: order to achieve that figure, it's believed they would have
- 17:37Speaker 1: had to have 200,000 people enter the giveaway. Now, in reality,
- 17:42Speaker 1: only around 7,000 people did And this is despite Roxy
- 17:46Speaker 1: having 268,000 Instagram followers. Well, you can see why she
- 17:49Speaker 1: was really thrashing the promotion of this competition because she
- 17:52Speaker 1: appeared on the Carl and Jackie O show. She was
- 17:54Speaker 1: on Morning Show. She was constantly on her Instagram story
- 17:58Speaker 1: talking about this competition. Well, it's interesting you bring up
- 18:01Speaker 1: that publicity to us, Sophie, because the court found that
- 18:04Speaker 1: this major contract stipulation was not publicly disclosed during the promotion,
- 18:09Speaker 1: nor was it listed on the competition's formal terms and
- 18:12Speaker 1: conditions on the Roxy's bootcamp website. And in her application
- 18:16Speaker 1: to the court, Roxy claimed it was this subclause that
- 18:19Speaker 1: made her want to stop the promotion. However, Roxy's lawyer
- 18:23Speaker 1: conceded in court that a series of interviews that she
- 18:26Speaker 1: did about the giveaway may have been deceptive and misleading
- 18:30Speaker 1: due to the fact that she did not publicly disclose
- 18:32Speaker 1: this major contract stipulation. And then when asked why the
- 18:36Speaker 1: subclause was omitted, Roxy's lawyer agreed it should have been
- 18:39Speaker 1: included and confirmed that Roxy had seen the terms and
- 18:42Speaker 1: conditions and had signed the promotions agreement in which the
- 18:45Speaker 1: clause was stipulated. Her lawyer said, I'm not looking to
- 18:48Speaker 1: absolve Ms. Jasenko. He went on to argue, though, that
- 18:51Speaker 1: it appeared to be a case where all three shareholders
- 18:54Speaker 1: either didn't understand the promotion or it was convenient for
- 18:57Speaker 1: them not to do so. Now, one of the reasons
- 19:00Speaker 1: Roxy claims she sought the appointment of provisional liquidators was
- 19:04Speaker 1: due to allegations that her business partners had engaged in
- 19:08Speaker 1: misleading conduct over their handling of the promotion. It is
- 19:12Speaker 1: important to note that her business partners deny any wrongdoing.
- 19:16Speaker 1: In court, the judge asked Roxy's lawyers if the same
- 19:19Speaker 1: could be said about her actions. The judge said, Roxy's
- 19:22Speaker 1: lawyer responded, yes. The judge then said, do you accept
- 19:39Speaker 1: that your client has been effectively conducting herself in the
- 19:42Speaker 1: same way that she's criticized others? And her lawyer replied,
- 19:46Speaker 1: for a few days, yes. Very interesting. now in terms
- 19:51Speaker 1: of this refund process roxy has confirmed that she still
- 19:54Speaker 1: is standing by her offer to refund customers and as
- 19:58Speaker 1: a result she will be out of pocket nearly 700
- 20:00Speaker 1: 000 she claims that she has set aside the money
- 20:04Speaker 1: with her lawyer's She also shared a link to her
- 20:06Speaker 1: website where entrants can apply for their refund. The timing
- 20:11Speaker 1: of this debacle could not be worse because Roxy has
- 20:14Speaker 1: just celebrated her 44th birthday in Singapore over the weekend.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And her husband, Oliver Curtis, hosted a very lavish surprise
- 20:22Speaker 1: birthday dinner for her, flying in all of her closest
- 20:25Speaker 1: family and friends from back home in Sydney. If I
- 20:28Speaker 1: was Roxy, I probably would have kept this event offline.
- 20:31Speaker 1: It wasn't a good look because she was posting all
- 20:34Speaker 1: of these Instagram stories of her dining out on caviar
- 20:37Speaker 1: and champagne. As you said, it looked very lavish. And
- 20:40Speaker 1: I don't think the people that entered this competition who
- 20:43Speaker 1: are waiting on a refund probably would appreciate seeing this.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Sophia Begg has been accused of bullying her ex after
- 20:50Speaker 1: jumping on a viral TikTok trend. On the weekend, the TikToker,
- 20:54Speaker 1: more commonly known as SofaDofa, uploaded a video of her
- 20:58Speaker 1: dancing with the caption, I have my own business, dream car,
- 21:02Speaker 1: investment property, and it's probably because I don't have to
- 21:05Speaker 1: pay for everything for you anymore. It didn't take long
- 21:09Speaker 1: for her 1.3 million followers to twig that she appeared
- 21:12Speaker 1: to be taking aim at her ex-boyfriend, Jordan. This video
- 21:16Speaker 1: has since been deleted. Yeah, and Jordan has hit back
- 21:20Speaker 1: with his own TikTok. So In it, he wrote, using
- 21:23Speaker 1: your platform for good and then put a cross next
- 21:25Speaker 1: to it. He then followed up with using your platform
- 21:28Speaker 1: to talk about others slash put someone else down who
- 21:31Speaker 1: you simply just didn't work with and then put a
- 21:33Speaker 1: tick next to it. He also continued writing, honestly ridiculous
- 21:37Speaker 1: how long these comments slash videos have gone on for
- 21:40Speaker 1: without me saying anything. It's a form of online bullying
- 21:43Speaker 1: and you need to be called out for it. Be
- 21:45Speaker 1: a good role model for your millions of young followers.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Please leave me alone. Thank you. Hashtag don't be a bully. Now,
- 21:51Speaker 1: this is where things got even more interesting because Sophia's
- 21:55Speaker 1: ex-best friend, doesn't that sound so dramatic, and fellow TikToker,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Sammy Guggenheimer, entered the chat. Now, under Jordan's video, she wrote,
- 22:04Speaker 1: people know how much of a good human you are, Jordan.
- 22:07Speaker 1: This was a controversial move considering Sammy has long been
- 22:11Speaker 1: accused of hooking up with Jordan. Now, she did publicly
- 22:15Speaker 1: deny those rumours at the start of this year. So
- 22:17Speaker 1: she said it was laughable and that she was friends
- 22:19Speaker 1: with Jordan publicly. before she was friends with Sophia. However,
- 22:22Speaker 1: it's not a good look because she did go on
- 22:25Speaker 1: to confirm that she's no longer friends with Sophia, but
- 22:27Speaker 1: has nothing but love and respect for her and doesn't
- 22:30Speaker 1: think she's a bad person. Now, Sophia wasn't having any
- 22:34Speaker 1: of it. She responded to Sammy's comment on Jordan's video writing,
- 22:39Speaker 1: don't forget when we went to dinner when I first
- 22:41Speaker 1: moved to Melbourne. You said don't date him. Everyone in
- 22:44Speaker 1: Melbourne doesn't like him. She also replied to another comment
- 22:49Speaker 1: under the video saying, Funny how they're commenting when they're
- 22:52Speaker 1: the ones telling me I shouldn't go anywhere near him
- 22:55Speaker 1: because he's trouble. This is all very high school. Now
- 23:00Speaker 1: fans were quick to also point out that Sammy participated
- 23:04Speaker 1: in the same TikTok trend with her ex, Caleb Poulter.
- 23:08Speaker 1: So a while ago, she shared a video about her
- 23:10Speaker 1: ex with the caption, how it feels to wake up
- 23:12Speaker 1: every day only responsible for yourself and not a 20-something-year-old
- 23:16Speaker 1: man child who mistakes you for his mother. And Kate,
- 23:19Speaker 1: while you said that this is very high school, as
- 23:22Speaker 1: a 35-year-old, I'm living for this drama. I think that
- 23:24Speaker 1: there should be more of this drama online. Yeah, exactly.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Air your dirty laundry. Now, Sophia went even more rogue
- 23:31Speaker 1: because she responded to the drama in a private Facebook forum.
- 23:35Speaker 1: In a thread detailing the event, she wrote, He's all
- 23:38Speaker 1: about hashtag don't bully when I have whole notes lists
- 23:42Speaker 1: on my phone from the relationship of fucked shit he
- 23:45Speaker 1: did to me. So if he wants to act like
- 23:47Speaker 1: the victim, I'll have no regrets saying all of it.
- 23:50Speaker 1: She then went on to say that upon reflection, she
- 23:52Speaker 1: should have worded the caption differently as it wasn't her
- 23:55Speaker 1: intention to look like she was flaunting her wealth. She
- 23:58Speaker 1: argued that she didn't name her ex and didn't think
- 24:01Speaker 1: it would cause a stir seeing as it's a trend
- 24:03Speaker 1: everyone is doing. She added, but funny how all his
- 24:06Speaker 1: friends in inverted commas are commenting when they were the
- 24:09Speaker 1: ones saying, stay away and warning me, lol. But everyone
- 24:12Speaker 1: is saying I'm still obsessed. Trust me, I'd rather be
- 24:15Speaker 1: single for the rest of my life than go near
- 24:17Speaker 1: that again. It's a trend about exes, so I hopped on.
- 24:20Speaker 1: People always say influencers lose their personality and become so boring.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And it's because the second we do anything besides stand
- 24:27Speaker 1: there and lip sync, we get fucked for it. So
- 24:30Speaker 1: back to lip syncing and fit checks, I go. No
- 24:32Speaker 1: more trends for me. She does have a very good
- 24:35Speaker 1: point because I think people really love following along this
- 24:38Speaker 1: type of drama. But what generally happens is that people
- 24:42Speaker 1: begin to take it too far and start piling on
- 24:45Speaker 1: an individual. They don't just take the drama for what
- 24:47Speaker 1: it is as a bit of fun. Yeah, and it
- 24:49Speaker 1: becomes a opportunity for people to jump in and try
- 24:52Speaker 1: and get their own views and create their own engagement
- 24:55Speaker 1: by putting their two cents worth into it. I actually
- 24:58Speaker 1: don't even think that Sophia posted this to create engagement.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I just think it's a reflection on her age. I
- 25:05Speaker 1: can see why Sophia would find it so triggering to
- 25:08Speaker 1: see her ex-friend Sammy jumping to the defence of her ex-boyfriend,
- 25:13Speaker 1: particularly when there seems to be so much history between
- 25:15Speaker 1: them all. Yeah, I mean, it has been a very
- 25:17Speaker 1: big week for Sophia. She is providing the entertainment and
- 25:21Speaker 1: I like to pat her on the back for that.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Let's get into our highs and lows of the week.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'll start mine off with a low. This is my
- 25:28Speaker 1: last podcast recording for a while. So Amy and Sophie
- 25:31Speaker 1: have been begging me to take maternity leave and I'm
- 25:34Speaker 1: finally at a point where I can't actually push it
- 25:36Speaker 1: any further. So I'm very sad that this is the
- 25:39Speaker 1: last podcast recording because the podcast is like my baby,
- 25:42Speaker 1: my first baby, and I'm finding it really hard to
- 25:44Speaker 1: let go of control. I don't want people to fret
- 25:47Speaker 1: because I think that you probably are a bit of
- 25:49Speaker 1: a favourite on here because you always say how it is.
- 25:51Speaker 1: You are going to be back though. Oh, definitely. I'll
- 25:54Speaker 1: be pushing to come back as soon as I possibly can.
- 25:57Speaker 1: It's just really hard to know what life with a
- 25:59Speaker 1: newborn will be like, but I will be roping in
- 26:01Speaker 1: a lot of babysitters. So I hopefully won't be missing
- 26:04Speaker 1: from too many podcast recordings. I'm actually nervous to do
- 26:06Speaker 1: it without you, Kate, because I know that you'll be listening.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I can just tell that when you're up early in
- 26:12Speaker 1: the morning doing those feeds, you'll probably be catching up
- 26:15Speaker 1: on the podcast. and be writing down a little list
- 26:17Speaker 1: of things that we've said wrong or things that you're
- 26:19Speaker 1: not happy about. Yes, I will be keeping a close
- 26:22Speaker 1: eye on it to ensure that the quality control is there.
- 26:25Speaker 1: As for my high of the week, I actually have
- 26:27Speaker 1: two small highs. One is the $ 15 Anko slippers that
- 26:30Speaker 1: I brought from Kmart. I Snapchatted you last night saying
- 26:33Speaker 1: that I was so pleased with my purchase. They're a
- 26:35Speaker 1: ripoff of the Uggs and What I like most about
- 26:38Speaker 1: them is that they're actually not made from sheepskin because
- 26:41Speaker 1: being vegetarian, I feel guilty wearing leather. My partner for
- 26:44Speaker 1: probably four years, every winter he bought me quite an
- 26:47Speaker 1: expensive pair of Ugg boots, which was that Uggs brand.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And every year I somehow destroyed them. I would get
- 26:54Speaker 1: mold in them. I'd leave them outside. I'd leave them
- 26:58Speaker 1: too close to my shower. So he has given up.
- 27:00Speaker 1: So my feet are very cold at the moment. So
- 27:02Speaker 1: I'm going to have to invest in some $ 15 ones. Oh,
- 27:04Speaker 1: they're so comfortable. My other little bit of a high
- 27:07Speaker 1: is that I had you and your partner and also
- 27:10Speaker 1: mum and dad over the other day. And as you
- 27:13Speaker 1: were leaving, Brandon made a comment about, oh, you know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: upcoming family dinners, the baby will be there. And he
- 27:21Speaker 1: made a comment to my mum saying, oh, don't worry,
- 27:23Speaker 1: at least Kate will provide the baby its food. And
- 27:26Speaker 1: you chimed in and said, that's a bit unfair. Why
- 27:29Speaker 1: can't Rhys help with the baby's food? Well, I was
- 27:31Speaker 1: trying to be very feminist and say that you shouldn't
- 27:34Speaker 1: be the one just providing all of the food and
- 27:36Speaker 1: organising the baby's food, but I quickly discovered that babies
- 27:41Speaker 1: don't eat food. Yeah, so Sophie wasn't aware that babies
- 27:45Speaker 1: actually drink milk and that they don't eat solids for
- 27:48Speaker 1: quite a while. I knew that they drink milk. I
- 27:49Speaker 1: didn't know that that's all they had. Yeah, so it
- 27:52Speaker 1: was pretty funny because you were trying to pay Brandon out,
- 27:55Speaker 1: but then it backfired very quickly on you. just blew
- 27:58Speaker 1: my mind. I was wondering why you weren't stressing thinking about,
- 28:01Speaker 1: oh my God, what am I going to... I mean,
- 28:03Speaker 1: I didn't think that the baby sat down for a
- 28:05Speaker 1: full course meal, but I just thought perhaps you pureed
- 28:08Speaker 1: some vegetables and fruit and stuff. I don't know. That's
- 28:12Speaker 1: not for a while. I mean, I think I would
- 28:13Speaker 1: actually prefer to just puree the food than having to
- 28:16Speaker 1: breastfeed for every single meal. I think that's going to
- 28:19Speaker 1: be quite time consuming. Well, I think I'm going to
- 28:22Speaker 1: take that as my low of the week because that
- 28:24Speaker 1: was rather embarrassing. My high of the week is that
- 28:27Speaker 1: Love Island UK is back. And I was a little
- 28:30Speaker 1: bit apprehensive watching the first episode because I really loved
- 28:35Speaker 1: the all-star series that played at the beginning of the year.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I liked that the old characters were back. You felt
- 28:41Speaker 1: nostalgic towards them. And I liked having a cast I
- 28:44Speaker 1: was familiar with. And I was worried that I wouldn't
- 28:47Speaker 1: like this bunch of 24-year-olds because the majority of them
- 28:50Speaker 1: are 24, even though it's being reported that they look
- 28:54Speaker 1: a lot older. They have copped a lot of flack
- 28:56Speaker 1: for looking older, apparently. Oh, there's a lot of ageism
- 28:59Speaker 1: going on. There is a lot of ageism. I'm quite
- 29:01Speaker 1: offended because everyone's like, they look 35, as if that's
- 29:04Speaker 1: the biggest insult in the world. Yeah, but then poor
- 29:06Speaker 1: Joey Essex is copying it, saying that he looks ancient.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Everyone's like, oh, he's close to 40. He's 33. Yeah. Anyway,
- 29:12Speaker 1: my high is that this season has been so dramatic
- 29:16Speaker 1: so far. Saffron Barker's best friend, Harriet, is in there.
- 29:20Speaker 1: She is not disappointing. She is carrying that show. I mean,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I wouldn't say she's my favourite contestant on there, but
- 29:27Speaker 1: she's bringing a lot of the drama. Yeah, to be honest,
- 29:30Speaker 1: she hasn't come across as very likeable, but I'm very
- 29:33Speaker 1: happy that she's there because she has been involved in
- 29:36Speaker 1: a bunch of different love triangles. She's entertaining. I saw
- 29:41Speaker 1: actually show the cheap seats. You probably don't know because
- 29:43Speaker 1: you don't watch Frida Air TV, but that they were
- 29:45Speaker 1: calling her Veruca Salt because in an intro video, she's like,
- 29:48Speaker 1: my dad brings me a coffee in the morning and
- 29:50Speaker 1: he turns my car around. That is spot on. I
- 29:54Speaker 1: would highly recommend people going and checking out Love Island
- 29:58Speaker 1: UK though. It is the perfect show to watch now
- 30:01Speaker 1: that it's winter because I'm finding myself vicariously living through
- 30:04Speaker 1: the contestants on there. I think that is all we
- 30:07Speaker 1: have time for. Kate, I'm so sad that you won't
- 30:10Speaker 1: be joining us for the next couple of episodes, but
- 30:13Speaker 1: it is going to be such an exciting time in
- 30:14Speaker 1: the next couple of weeks. Yes, it will be. I
- 30:17Speaker 1: am sad as well. I have promised Rhys that this
- 30:19Speaker 1: is my last day of work because he keeps telling
- 30:21Speaker 1: me to rest. This podcast was recorded on the traditional
- 30:24Speaker 1: land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We
- 30:27Speaker 1: pay respect to elders past and present And if you
- 30:29Speaker 1: do enjoy the show and want extra content, we drop
- 30:32Speaker 1: a bonus episode every Thursday with extra influencer topics. My
- 30:37Speaker 1: favorite segment from the subs episode this week was how
- 30:40Speaker 1: a brand has ripped off Brooke Hogan's iconic yellow bridesmaid dresses.
- 30:44Speaker 1: So her brand, Lamont, designed them. And randomly, she noticed
- 30:50Speaker 1: that this brand has taken one of her photos of
- 30:53Speaker 1: They have edited different faces onto the bridesmaids just so
- 30:57Speaker 1: that they can try and copy the dresses. Yes. We
- 31:00Speaker 1: do go into depth on that plus a bunch of
- 31:02Speaker 1: other influencer topics.
