- 0:01In greater darkness waited a worse reign, if worse can be
- 0:06where all is evil's extreme. Yet to the cloaked the uncloaked
- 0:11is naked. Worst, their God and truth and
- 0:14the supernal light had never been or else had power no more,
- 0:20as when one slips in a deep moment's trance over mind's
- 0:24border into another world. He crossed a boundary whose
- 0:28stealthy trace I could not see, but only the soul feel.
- 0:34Into an armored, fierce domain he came and saw himself
- 0:38wandering like a lost soul amid grimed walls and savage slums of
- 0:43night. Around him crowded grey and
- 0:46squalid huts, neighboring proud palaces of perverted power,
- 0:52inhuman quarters and demoniac wards.
- 0:56A pride and evil hugged its wretchedness, a misery haunting
- 1:01splendor. Prestos fell done suburbs of the
- 1:04cities of dream life, their life displayed to the spectator soul
- 1:10the shadow depths of her strange miracle, a strong and fallen
- 1:14goddess without hope, obscured, deformed by some dire gorgon
- 1:19spell, as might a harlot Empress in a Bush.
- 1:24Nude, unashamed, exulting, she upraised her evil face of
- 1:29perilous beauty and charm, and drawing panic to a shuddering
- 1:35kiss, Twix the magnificence of her fatal breasts.
- 1:39Allured to their abyss, the spirits fall across his field of
- 1:44sight. She multiplied as on a scenic
- 1:47film or moving plate. The implacable splendor of her
- 1:51nightmare pomps on the dark background of a soulless world.
- 1:56She staged between a lurid light and shade, her dramas of the
- 2:00sorrow of the depths, written on the agonized nerves of living
- 2:05things, epics of horror and grim majesty.
- 2:09Wry statues spat and stiffened in life's mud.
- 2:13A glut of hideous forms and hideous deeds paralyzed pity in
- 2:18the hardened breast. In booths of sin and night
- 2:22repairs of vice styled infamies of the bodies.
- 2:26Concupiscence and sordid imaginations etched in flesh
- 2:31turned lust into a decorative art.
- 2:35Abusing nature's gift, Her pervert skill immortalized the
- 2:39stone grain of living death in a mud goblet, poured the Bacchic
- 2:44wine to a satire, gave the thyrus of a God.
- 2:49Impure, sadistic with grimacing mouths, grey fowl inventions,
- 2:55gruesome and macabre came television from the gulfs of
- 2:59night. Her craft in genius and
- 3:02monstrosity, impatient of all natural shape and poise.
- 3:07A gape of nude exaggerated lines gave caricature a stark reality
- 3:13and art parades of weird distorted forms and gargoyle
- 3:18masks, obscene and terrible, trampled to tormented postures.
- 3:23The torn sense. An inexorable evils worshipper,
- 3:27she made vileness great and sublimated filth.
- 3:31A dragon power of reptile energies and strange epiphanies
- 3:36of grovelling force and serpent granders couching in the mire
- 3:41drew adoration to a gleam of slime.
- 3:45All nature pulled out of her frame and base was twisted into
- 3:49an unnatural pose. Repulsion stimulated in earth
- 3:53desire, agony was made a red spiced food for bliss.
- 3:59Hatred was trusted with the work of lust and torture took the
- 4:03form of an embrace. A ritual anguish consecrated
- 4:07death. Worship was offered to the
- 4:10undivine, a new aesthesis of infernos, art that trained the
- 4:15mind to love what the soul hates, imposed allegiance on the
- 4:20quivering nerves and forced the unwilling body to vibrate, too
- 4:25sweet and too harmonious to excite.
- 4:28In this regime that soiled the being score, beauty was banned,
- 4:33the hearts feeling dulled to sleep and cherished in their
- 4:37place sensations thrills. The world was probed for jets of
- 4:42sense appeal. Here cold material intellect was
- 4:46the judge and needed sensual prick and jog and lash that it's
- 4:51hard dryness and dead nerves might feel some passion and
- 4:55power and acrid point of life. A new philosophy theorized
- 5:02evil's rights gloried in the shimmering rot of decadence, or
- 5:06gave to a Python force persuasive speech and armed with
- 5:11knowledge, the primeval brute over life and matter.
- 5:15Only brooding bowed mind change to an image of a rampant beast.
- 5:22It scrambled into the pit to dig for truth and lighted its search
- 5:27with the subconscious flares. Thence bubbling rose, sullying
- 5:32the upper air, the filth and festering secrets of the abyss.
- 5:37This it called positive fact and real life.
- 5:41This now composed the fetid atmosphere.
- 5:44A wild beast's passion crept from secret night to watch its
- 5:49prey with fascinating eyes. Around him, like a fire with
- 5:53sputtering tongues, their lulled and laughed a bestial ecstasy.
- 5:58The air was packed with longings, brute and fierce,
- 6:02crowding and stinging in a monstrous swarm pressed with a
- 6:06noxious hum into his mind, thoughts that could poison
- 6:10nature's heavenliest breath. Forcing reluctant lids assailed
- 6:15the sight. Acts that revealed the mystery
- 6:19of hell. All that was there was on this
- 6:23pattern made.
