- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, introduce me.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: Introduce you?
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: Uh hi, Steve.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: This is Steve, my friend Steve.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: And my other friend, Steve.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: I'm Steve here in Naples, Florida.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And and how do you know how do you know this, Steve?
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: I I think I started, I think I met you at Leonardo Pizza, right?
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I uh I had just turned 21 and you showed up there and saw the way I was making pizza, and you said, no, no, I'm gonna show you how to make pizza.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: You had just started, and uh right then and there you showed me how to throw a pizza, and it's been uh an uphill path ever since.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: And we have been close friends since the day I turned 21.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I'm 54 now.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And so who makes who makes better pizza?
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Uh who makes better pizza?
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Well, that's that's debatable.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: His his pizza is uh amazing, but you know.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: But but Steve makes really good pizza too.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: He he he he he taught a guy how to make pizza as good as his, but different different was.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: So here's the deal.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: I think when I came, so I had gone off to I had I had left, I had gone off to work at this camp in North Carolina.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: I was gonna I was gonna be like a uh I was just gonna work at the camp.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I don't remember what all I had to do, but wasn't a counselor per se.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: I was just a guy working at the camp.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: My buddy was going with me, what?
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Was that awkward?
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: You you didn't have a job, but you were working at the camp.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: No, I had a job.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: I just don't remember what the job was.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: But one of my one of my jobs I remember was inspecting the girls' cabins, and I had to pick which was the cleanest.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: But but when I got, but when we were on the way, my buddy Alan and I were on the way to the camp.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: We said, hey, we're going to the camp.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: We don't know anybody, we're gonna be there for a month.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Let's make up names, let's make up identities.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: So I said, I'll be Satchel.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: And he's like, gonna be Jethro.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: I said, All right, you gotta stick to it, Alan.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: When you get there, or whatever they say, you say that's your name.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: He's like, got it.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: We get there, they say, Hey, man, what's your name?
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: He says, Alan.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: So I give him this look, you know, like, come on, you didn't even last with the first person.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: And then I said, My name's Satchel.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: He said, Is that your real name?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: I said, Yeah, that's my real name.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: So it worked the whole time.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: And then when I'm cleaning, I had to inspect the cabins.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: Well, the girls all wanted to win the cabin.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: So if the whole cabin of girls, they're all high school girls are gone by, I was probably 20, and they'd see me and they'd say, Hey, Satchel, because they wanted me to, you know, wanted me to vote their cabin the best.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: And after the camp, I went to work in Atlanta, and the guy got me a job at a pizza place there, and he only knew me as satchel, so he introduced me as satchel.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: So now I'm satcheled when I'm living in Atlanta.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: So I come back to Gainesville after Atlanta, and I'm going to get a job at Leonardo's.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: And I walk in, they said, What's your name?
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: I said, Steve.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: They're like, Oh, there's a couple Steves already.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Well, there's you, I think you were one of the Steves, and the other Steve was the owner.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Steve.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Steve Solomon, the owner.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: And so since there were two Steves already, I said, just call me Satchel.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Because I was going in to be Steve again, but because of you, I had to be Satchel.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, it's funny because because of you, my closest friends call me Steve, and my family calls me Steven.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: So this whole Steve thing is is gotten really out of hand.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And I think we've had false identities for the last 35 years.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Well, Steve Beatty over there thinks that there's a right and wrong way to spell Steve.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Well, first of all, first of all, what's the your name is still Steve, whether it's pronounced or whether it's your full name is Steven or Steve.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: That doesn't your name isn't changed.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: It's just Robert.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: So I can just flat out changed his name.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Robert or Rob.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: The real question is what's the proper way to spell Steve as Stephen?
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And it's with a V- Well there's only one way to spell Steve.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: You're a V Steven.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: You're a V Steve.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: I just looked this up on the internet.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: On the Google.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: I said, what's the proper way to spell Stephen with a PH or V?
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: It says both Stephen, PH, and Stephen, V, are correct and widely accepted spellings of the same name.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Stephen with a PH is the traditional spelling closer to the ancient Greek root Stephanos.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Well, Stephen with a V is a more modern phonetic interpretation.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: California Steve, how do you spell your name?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: With a V, of course.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: There's only one way to spell Steve.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: That's why he changed his name to the case.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: It's not the only way.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Stephen with a V is proper.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: Well, who wants to write it with a letter for no reason?
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: That's not right.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: Stephen with a PH is the or is from the original Greek Stephanos.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Stephen with a V is a more modern version.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I'll accept that you're old and that we're modern and cool.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: It's not it wasn't about like necessarily right or wrong.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: It's like kind of like the the the um cool way to, you know, like the cool way to spell it is with a V.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Like the like PH, it that's too old.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: It's sophisticated.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: It's sophisticated.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: It's too old pH.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Why would you want to add another letter?
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: That's just extra words.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: The only thing I'll concede is that it's a little bit weird that Steve with a V is short for Steven with a PH.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: That is a little weird.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: No, that that's totally.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're trying to like play both sides of the of the court here.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Um listen, I think when your name is Steve, I think Steve is the coolest name ever invented.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: I think Steve is like the coolest.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Here's what I will say.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's it is a good name.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Here's what I will say about your your name is if you said your name is Stefan and you owned it, I'd have less judgment.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: But you're you're a Stefan, but you're trying to be a Stephen with a Steve with a V.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: That's just not how it's pronounced.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: That's a lazy way to say Stefan.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: It's Steve.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: But you're not lazy by any means.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: But what I was trying to get at is that the name that we've all been called our whole lives, Steve or Stephen, makes us really cool.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, hang on.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Hang on.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: It makes us what?
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I I had a I had a I had a timer on.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: And did we run out of time?
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: We're rolling.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 7:03unknown: Oh, well.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So what you were you you were going on some you you were ready to rock your your statement there, and I had to cut you off.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Well, I just yeah, I think that I just I just think that with that, I've always been friends with Steve's.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: I've always been friends with Steve's because Steve's are the coolest people.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Yep, and Stephens.
- 7:22unknown: I don't care how they spell it.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: I'm not picky like that, like you guys.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: You guys spell it wrong, but that's okay.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Stefans are cool too.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: You know, we our name is so spelled so right.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: We didn't change our name.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: You changed it to Satchel.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Where does Satchel come from?
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, the oldest.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: I was trying to think if there was any name cooler than Steve.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: And that's all I could come up with.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: You nailed it.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: You nailed it, buddy because that name flows way better than Steve's.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: All right, we gotta wrap it up.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Here we go, wrapping it up.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And time to wrap it up.
