Latest / World of Gore / Episode 3: The Body
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: The following podcast contains descriptions of violence and horror, but listener discretion is advised.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Log number three Antoine de Rose recording In this session I wanted to share a particularly noteworthy gore incident.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Actually, I should say incidence plural.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: The original, or should I say first recorded attack took place in the summer of 1983.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: However, we have since learned that there was a linked murder fifteen years prior in 1968.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: We know that in 1968 there was an eight-year-old boy, but I won't say his name, it feels inappropriate.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: But the boy in question stabbed his thirteen year old sister to death.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: He stabbed her nine times, according to the sealed records I was able to obtain.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: He then went on to attempt to set his baby sister Henrietta on fire, stopped at the last minute by their what I will graciously call distracted parents.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Allegedly, the boy was asked by police, or maybe the psychiatric professionals, it's honestly a little unclear, but he was asked why he did what he did.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: His response, devoid of any emotion, because it was fun.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Those would be the final words he'd ever utter.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: He went on to be housed in a high security psychiatric facility, itself an extremely questionable decision, considering the perpetrator was a child.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: But perhaps someone knew something back then that we do not.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: In fact, I almost guarantee it.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: A doctor Yusuf Al Johani was the primary psychologist who worked with the boy.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: As I said, I have seen the sealed records, and they include Al Johani's extensive notes.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: He is increasingly unprofessional in his observations over the fifteen years he worked with the boy.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: He starts off with an earnest hope to reach him, but three years in well, I'll give you a quote from one of his reports.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: You look into his eyes, and you see the same thing he gives you after three years of one-sided conversations.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Nothing.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: No conscience.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: No soul.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Just a body.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I have spent more time with him than my own son at this point, and even after all this time, he's just a husk.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: A body.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Nothing more.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: I have a lot to say about Dr.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Al Johani's conduct as a healthcare professional and his own possible abuses.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: But that is beyond the scope of this report.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: I will note here that after this entry in his notes, he exclusively refers to the child as the body, never by his name.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: While the body continued to languish in the dubious care of Dr.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Al Johani, his family attempted a fresh start.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: They moved from Indiana to Southern California, changed their surnames, and they never told poor Henrietta.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: This is silly.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: His name was Boyd, the boy was called Boyd.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Anyway, as she grew up, Henrietta's parents opted to never share with her of any of her other siblings.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: She thought she was an only child all the way through high school.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Believe me when I say that I understand trauma related to witnessing unimaginable tragedy happen to your family.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: But I question Henrietta's parents' actions here.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: It would seem to me that they left the boy that they left Boyd alone, cutting him out of their lives completely.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Perhaps it wouldn't have mattered, and the body would still have caused the later incident, but certainly they could have foreseen a time when Boyd might come back into their lives.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm sorry.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: This this isn't what these logs are for.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Recording continues.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: By summer of eighty three, Henrietta was enjoying her days at high school, spending a precious few weeks on her break gearing up for the Independence Day celebration.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: What she did not know was that her unknown brother had just escaped from the facility where he was abandoned and attracted their family to their new sleepy suburban town.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: His only goal seemed to be to finish what he had started back in '68.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Seven people died over the course of twenty four hours while he tried to target his sister, mostly teenagers, but it also included their parents.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I imagine I don't need to go into the full grisly details, but the brutality of the murders were disturbing, even all these decades later.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: At some point the body killed a couple by lynching them while they were in a uh while they were being intimate in a bedroom during a party.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: All the accounts of interactions with the body were the same.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: He was emotionless, pitiless.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: He never spoke a single word, nor uttered a sound, even after injury.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: He just stared blankly in the same way described by his therapist.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: There was nothing behind his eyes, a body, nothing more.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: It only ended after doctor Al Jahani arrived on the scene following his patient but too late to avert the massacre.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: He used Henrietta as a bait to lure Boyd into an abandoned warehouse, which he ended up setting on fire around the young man.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: If you had read the patient notes that man took, he routinely daydreamed about doing such a thing to that boy during their years together.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: It's uh there are no heroes in this story.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: I digress.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: According to police reports, Boyd was burned alive.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: That did not stop him apparently from breaking out of the morgue several hours later and killing his way back onto the streets to continue his work.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: My understanding is that he was horrifically burned, to the point that he shouldn't have been able to move, let alone perpetuate a second murder spree.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: This time it was the body that laid out a trap.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Honestly, that speaks very highly of Boyd's intelligence and reasoning skills.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: He kidnapped a child for the sole purpose of luring Henrietta and Dr.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Aljohanni to a church.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: The little girl was named Alice.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: She was eight years old.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: After a final confrontation, Al Johanni was killed, but Henrietta managed to get a killing blow on her brother.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: He uh the body lost its head, if you'll forgive the unattended pun.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I was uh I was not trying to be funny.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not exactly sure how she accomplished it, but Henrietta managed to decapitate her brother, putting an end to the madness, despite a terrible, terrible cost that I know all too well.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Anyway, after reading the police report there was something that caught my eye.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: The little girl Alice, after she was secured by authorities and paramedics, she was different, apparently, changed.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: She was unhurt, but she didn't speak a word to anyone.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: She simply stared blankly.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: No emotion.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: November nineteen ninety three, Indiana, far from the massacre of that faithful fourth of July, and perhaps coincidentally, but perhaps not, a few skint hours drive from where the original murder occurred.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Henrietta is now a young high school teacher, just starting to get a foothold in her career.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: New town.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Changed surname.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: She wanted a fresh start.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Again.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Then it started again.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Murders, brutal murders, afflicted the student body.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Students found broken in half and stuffed in lockers, limbs torn from bodies displayed as trophies.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Five confirmed dead, another two missing.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I can only guess what Henrietta was thinking as her students died around her.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: She had to be reliving the trauma of her younger days.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Perhaps she wondered if her brother had come back to her from beyond the grave to finish what he had started over twenty years ago.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: In the end, Henrietta and another student Stacy were confronted by their tormentor in the school's auditorium.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: The killer had been another student of Henrietta's, her own teacher's aide, a girl calling herself Linda.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: But in truth, Linda was none other than Alice, having posed as an incoming transfer student at the beginning of the semester and been torturing the older woman ever since.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Let's let's backtrack a bit.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: After Boyd's second rampage was ended, Alice continued not to speak at all to anyone.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Not to friends, not to family.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: She just continued to stare blankly.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: She eventually was taken to a care facility.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: I have been unable to procure copies of her medical reports, and they remain sealed to this day.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: But based on interviews from police reports and my own research, it appears that Alice remained mute her entire time there, and the staff began jokingly referring to her as the body, because there was nothing behind those eyes, no soul, no conscience, just a body.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Alice escaped the facility in the winter of '93.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Now a teenager, she apparently somehow managed to slip out under the nose of her caregivers and track down Henrietta.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: I frankly do not have a full understanding of what happened next, but it would appear that Alice took on a new name and then managed to enroll herself into Henrietta's school.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: I have to assume that the standards for student enrollment in a small Midwest town in 1993 were somewhat lax by today's standards, but I digress.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: All evidence suggests that despite being mute for ten whole years, Alice interacted with her fellow students and teachers just fine, if not seamlessly.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: I have spoken to several of the ex-students of that school, and they all agree there wasn't anything terribly unusual about her.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: She was a little awkward, like she struggled a bit to know what to say.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: They all figured she was shy and not used to talking to people.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: When she revealed herself as the killer to Henrietta, all that stopped, and she, to the best of my knowledge, never spoke again.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: She reverted to the cold blank stares as she choked the life out of the older woman.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Henrietta didn't make it.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: She survived the most awful thing that could happen to a person, let alone a child, only to be murdered herself years after trying to move on with her life.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: The other student, Stacy, managed to subdue Alice after her dark work was completed.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: She was arrested, and ironically, ended up detained in the very facility that Boy stayed in for all those years.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And she remains there still.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: She's never spoken a word.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: No explanation, no reasoning, no hint of satisfaction over what she'd done.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Just the blank eyes of a body with nothing inside it.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Most experts agree that Alice's kill spree was the result of trauma from being kidnapped by Boyd turning into a deep seated madness which has led to her copying him as a coping mechanism.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Despite the stories being linked by the players, they are still considered two separate incidents.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: And I can't get over how similar to Boyd, how dead eyed Alice was when she killed Henrietta.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: My gut feeling is that there's something connected there.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: There were other similar attacks that have occurred in the years since that last one.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: One that involved the murder of Dr.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Al Johani's now adult son, and no less than three separate attempts on Stacy's life all involved a killer displaying the same traits as the first two.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: All of them have been ruled copycats.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: But but bear with me.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Alice's attack is clearly a gore incident.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: How else could a teenage girl break human bodies in two if she wasn't a gore?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: But what if what if this was something else?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: This is conjecture, the ramblings of a man who spent too much time examining the subject, but if this was a category three gore, something unknowable and beyond our understanding, is it impossible to think that Boyd was possessed for lack of a better word?
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Something took control of a child for years, and after he died it found a new host, a new child, and repeated itself.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Perhaps these copycats are that entity, continuing what it's been doing since nineteen sixty eight.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I must reiterate that this is speculation.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I have no evidence of this.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: But we live in a world where coincidence is a thing of the past, and the idea of a copycat killer should always be examined with tight lenses.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I will say, however, that if this was a category three entity behind these killings, well, I'll put it this way.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Right now, right this second, you might have a body out there staring at you, watching, waiting, planning.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: It is a patient hunter.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: It will not stop, it will not tire, and it could be anyone in your life.
