- 0:00Speaker 1: At Bartlesville Radio.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The Cal Thomas Commentary is brought to you by Values
- 0:06Through Media. Now here's syndicated columnist Cal Thomas.
- 0:10Speaker 3: If you think socialism is the preferred economic and political
- 0:13view of a minority, a new Gallup poll shows it's
- 0:16growing in favor. More than 4 in 10 Americans have
- 0:19a positive view of socialism for the first time since
- 0:22Gallup began polling on the issue 16 years ago. That's
- 0:25up from 39% of adults surveyed last year. Capitalism, free enterprise,
- 0:31and especially big business are viewed less positively than they
- 0:34once were. Democrats and younger people, but also a growing
- 0:38number of independents, are embracing socialism, according to the poll.
- 0:42Why is socialism gaining in popularity in America? First, we
- 0:45no longer teach the superiority of capitalism in public schools
- 0:49and most universities. Second, the media rarely report on socialism,
- 0:54at least not its negative effects on people and nations.
- 0:56With the exception of Fox News, I've not seen many
- 0:59interviewed who have lived under socialism and its evil twin communism.
- 1:03Those who have spoken out warn Americans we won't like
- 1:07socialism if we choose it. I'm Kel Thomas.

- 1:32Speaker 4: Imagine getting this kind of news. Karen Collins was in
- 1:35her 20s. She was newly married, and then her husband Michael...
- 1:38was diagnosed with stage four cancer.
- 1:42Speaker 5: He told me and I just cried because I didn't
- 1:44really know what the plan was.
- 1:47Speaker 4: There was another fear to the medical bills. And thankfully,
- 1:51they were members of MediShare and MediShare came through for
- 1:54them and not just financially.
- 1:56Speaker 6: But they called and they said, hey, we know you're
- 1:58going through treatment. We just wanted to call and pray
- 2:00for you. And it rocked my world. And every time
- 2:03they called, it was like, how can we pray for
- 2:04you right now? How are you doing today?
- 2:06Speaker 7: MediShare was a blessing to us because they just made
- 2:09it so easy.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yes, MediShare can save you a lot of money. But
- 2:14as Karen and Michael discovered, it's also about knowing you're
- 2:16not going through life's hardest moments alone.
- 2:20Speaker 8: Call now.
- 2:21Speaker 4: See why so many people have made the switch to MediShare.
- 2:23Here's the number.
- 2:24Speaker 8: It's 855-90-BIBLE. That's 855-90-BIBLE. 855-90-BIBLE. Morning, good morning, good morning.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 2:37Speaker 9: It's time now for a community connection right here on K1,
- 2:40the one you trust. And we have a glow in
- 2:43the studio.
- 2:44Speaker 8: This is great. And we have Deborah.
- 2:47Speaker 9: We have Marty, who is over there in the corner.
- 2:50Speaker 7: Say hi.
- 2:51Speaker 8: There you go. Also, we have Dolores and we have Vicki.
- 2:55How are we doing today, ladies?
- 2:57Speaker 7: We're doing great.
- 2:58Speaker 8: Well, you're all aglow.
- 2:59Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 8: So what's happening? What do we have coming up?
- 3:03Speaker 7: What we have coming up is Love in Action on
- 3:06October the 10th between 1 and 3 at the Unity
- 3:09Square in Bartlesville. We're going to have music. We're going
- 3:12to have food. We're just going to have a good
- 3:16time of fellowship, and we're going to be praying for Israel.
- 3:20Speaker 8: Got the flags. Everybody's got one here today. That's right.
- 3:22Speaker 7: And just a little bit about that is Marty's going
- 3:29to talk a little bit about the Love in Action program.
- 3:32Speaker 8: Okay, let's go ahead and get the camera.
- 3:34Speaker 7: On Martin here. Can you see it?
- 3:37Speaker 8: Yeah, we do now.
- 3:38Speaker 10: There we go.
- 3:40Speaker 7: So, this is a little bit like March for Jesus.
- 3:46Speaker 11: The churches, we're trying to get the churches to come
- 3:48together so that they can tell what they have, the
- 3:53programs that they have. And so everyone knows what is
- 3:59available in Bartlesville. And It's really about fellowshipping with other Christians,
- 4:06which is really good for us, you know, to just
- 4:09share the love.
- 4:11Speaker 8: It is. It truly is.
- 4:13Speaker 9: It's a little harder to do than one might think
- 4:16because of conflicting schedules and everything.
- 4:19Speaker 8: That's right.
- 4:20Speaker 11: This is from 1 to 3, and the improvement from
- 4:25our flyer says free hamburgers.
- 4:27Speaker 10: We're actually having... Pulled pork.
- 4:30Speaker 8: Oh, pulled pork. Okay. There you go.
- 4:32Speaker 7: That ought to get you to come, right?
- 4:33Speaker 2: There you go.
- 4:34Speaker 8: Barbecue worked for me, man. It's secret sauce, you know.
- 4:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 10: And cookies.
- 4:40Speaker 8: Oh, you've got to have a cookie.
- 4:42Speaker 12: Oh, man.
- 4:42Speaker 8: This is great.
- 4:43Speaker 9: Tell us a little bit about it, Glo. If I
- 4:45can get Darlis to.
- 4:48Speaker 8: Talk a little bit about it. You did so well
- 4:50last year on this.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Glo is an international organization that's in like 170 countries.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 4:59Speaker 5: But our emphasis is local, getting together as a community
- 5:06in our communities. There are different functionings, different groups. Everybody
- 5:12doesn't have the same vision, but whatever that community needs.
- 5:16Some communities do more supporting their police and their fire
- 5:22and that sort of thing. So that's sort of their emphasis,
- 5:25that and prayer. But all of them are prayer groups.
- 5:28and the motivation of the Spirit flowing. So we want
- 5:31the presence of the Lord and the Spirit of the
- 5:34Lord flowing in our communities.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Well, there you go. You can't get much better than that.
- 5:40Speaker 7: Ms.
- 5:40Speaker 8: Vicki, tell us a little bit about your involvement with
- 5:44the GLOBE.
- 5:44Speaker 10: I'm new.
- 5:45Speaker 8: You're brand new. I figured that. You're the new kid
- 5:47on the block.
- 5:48Speaker 10: I'm the new kid on the block. So this is
- 5:51an adventure, and it's a blessing. These ladies, this one
- 5:55really helped me to become on board. But it's a
- 5:59very big part of my heart. Because I like to
- 6:05bring the word to those that don't know the word.
- 6:08And they need it. They need the Lord. I want
- 6:11them to come to the Lord and accept Jesus as
- 6:15their Savior. And that's why I'm part of this.
- 6:17Speaker 8: It's a darn good reason to be a part of it.
- 6:19Speaker 10: It's the only reason.
- 6:20Speaker 8: It's the only reason. I like that.
- 6:22Speaker 9: Now, the group is very, very special in a lot
- 6:26of different ways.
- 6:27Speaker 6: And.
- 6:28Speaker 9: When we talk about a glow, it almost kind of
- 6:31says it for itself.
- 6:32Speaker 8: You're kind of a glow with the love.
- 6:35Speaker 7: Yes. We do want to portray love everywhere we go
- 6:39and with everything that we do. And that's why we're
- 6:43incorporating the Flags of Fellowship this year into Love in Action.
- 6:49I'm a part of and I join, I follow Flags
- 6:53of Fellowship groups. It's a movement. It's with the International
- 7:00Fellowship of Christians and Jews. And what they do is
- 7:06the last three years that I have been involved with them,
- 7:11all over the world, they come together around October the 7th,
- 7:17which we're coming together with them on the 10th. And
- 7:21we're going to honor those 1,200 that was killed in
- 7:25the 2023 bombing. And we just want to stand with Israel.
- 7:32I mean, the word of God tells us to stand
- 7:34with Israel. The word of God tells us that if
- 7:37you bless Israel, God's going to bless us. So we
- 7:40want to stand with them. We want to pray with them.
- 7:42We want to uphold them and encourage them. And we
- 7:45want to be a part of the church mainly. And
- 7:50being a part of the church is not a building.
- 7:55but us individually. We're the church. And we need to
- 8:01recognize Israel as God's chosen people. That's where his lineage
- 8:06came from. Jesus came through the lineage of the Jews.
- 8:10And we have to stand with them because that's what
- 8:13the word of God tells us to. Not because we
- 8:16have to, because we want to, because we love them.
- 8:19We love God mostly. And because of that, we're going
- 8:23to So we're bringing that into love and action. We're
- 8:26going to have a moment of silence. Somebody's going to
- 8:31pray over Israel. And I'm working on trying to get
- 8:34a video that we can set up and watch. Haven't
- 8:39got there yet, but we still got a couple of weeks.
- 8:42But we just want everybody to come together. Like you said,
- 8:48it's hard to get people to come together, especially churches
- 8:51that have so much going on. and so much conflict
- 8:54with other activities going on. But if you can, possibly,
- 8:59we want to encourage you to come and be a
- 9:01part of this. Come and join with us in standing
- 9:06with Israel. Come and join with us in handing out
- 9:10things to let our community know that we're here, and
- 9:14we're here to help you. I've been telling, we're not
- 9:18just inviting churches, we're also inviting resources like Agape and
- 9:22The Lighthouse and Salvation Army and The Rock. And City
- 9:28Compassion is going to be there, you know, so that
- 9:31they will know we have food resources. We have clothing resources.
- 9:36We have all kinds of things that not only that
- 9:40they can be helped, but they can help those communities.
- 9:44They can help those resources as far as volunteering and
- 9:49coming together as a community and helping each other.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Well, it sounds like the whole community is going to
- 9:55be aglow, if you ask me.
- 9:56Speaker 10: Yes.
- 9:56Speaker 8: So this is going to be great. So we're going
- 9:59to be... having a.
- 10:01Speaker 9: Lot of fellowship, a lot of time to reflect, a
- 10:03lot of time for prayer, a lot of time for
- 10:05also getting together, too.
- 10:07Speaker 7: Yes.
- 10:07Speaker 8: A little time for some food.
- 10:09Speaker 10: The revelators.
- 10:10Speaker 8: Oh, tell us about them. Never heard of them. To
- 10:14get real, ministries.
- 10:16Speaker 11: Band.
- 10:17Speaker 8: Yes, Rezo and Kevin. The revelators. Yes.
- 10:20Speaker 7: And they're going to be there doing the worship.
- 10:23Speaker 8: Very good. Very good.
- 10:25Speaker 9: Good group of folks. I actually did a record with them.
- 10:28We recorded it, of all places, at the church studio.
- 10:32Speaker 6: All right.
- 10:32Speaker 9: Yeah, we decided that we'd do it right. So anyway,
- 10:36it's good that they're going to be there. So we're
- 10:38going to have celebrations.
- 10:39Speaker 8: All over, aren't we?
- 10:40Speaker 12: Yes.
- 10:40Speaker 10: Praise and worship.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Yes.
- 10:42Speaker 9: Boy, golly, we need it. I've noticed this, and I've
- 10:46heard this from people around, not only in Oklahoma, but other.
- 10:52Speaker 8: Parts of the world.
- 10:54Speaker 9: Churches are starting to raise their attendance a little bit
- 10:58these days. And some of them weren't prepared for it.
- 11:02It's like, well, you've been doing all this hard work,
- 11:05letting people know you weren't prepared for it. But anyway,
- 11:10it's a good thing that I'm hearing that. that more
- 11:12and more people are, and they're younger people. They're teens
- 11:16and 20s that are looking for meaning, looking for substance,
- 11:21looking for who they are, where they came from, where
- 11:23they're going to go, the direction in life.
- 11:26Speaker 8: That's amazing, isn't it? It's good to see.
- 11:29Speaker 7: Gotcha. Also, we want to encourage those that come. Not
- 11:37only are we going to have music or we're going
- 11:38to have food, we're also going to have, we're going
- 11:41to pass out we're going to be drawing for door prizes.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 11:45Speaker 7: So, uh, if you come to join us and if
- 11:47you feel like that you want to and want to
- 11:50donate a basket, gift basket, gift card, whatever, uh, feel
- 11:55free to let us know that. And when we get together,
- 11:57we can, you know, we can draw for that also. Um,
- 12:01I just want to encourage everybody and, uh, to add
- 12:05a little bit of what Dorlis has said about a glow.
- 12:07We meet every month on the first Saturday of the month. Uh,
- 12:12Right now we're in the library. So other than October
- 12:18the 10th, we're doing this. Then in November, we'll be
- 12:22at the library from 11 to 1. And so if
- 12:26you feel like that you might want to be a
- 12:28part of a GLOW, come and check us out. Come
- 12:30and see what we do. And maybe you can join
- 12:34right in with us because we just take everything. We're
- 12:36all from different churches. That's a wonderful thing. It's not
- 12:39a church thing. It's a community thing. It's a fellowship thing, yes.
- 12:45And the word tells us also that we need to
- 12:48come together and fellowship together, not as a church, but
- 12:52as God's children.
- 12:54Speaker 8: Men are welcome. Men are welcome?
- 12:56Speaker 11: Not just women.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 12:58Speaker 7: They used to be.
- 12:59Speaker 8: They used to be.
- 12:59Speaker 9: You're letting the fellows come in. We'll try not to
- 13:03be too much trouble.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh, they're a big help.
- 13:06Speaker 8: Oh, good.
- 13:07Speaker 7: We need the male leadership.
- 13:09Speaker 8: You need the male membership?
- 13:11Speaker 10: Membership and leadership.
- 13:12Speaker 8: Okay.
- 13:13Speaker 10: They're vital to the church.
- 13:15Speaker 8: All righty.
- 13:17Speaker 9: I'll remember that. See, you learn something new every day.
- 13:20I did not know that you were taking fellows these days.
- 13:22Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 8: Super. I want to thank you all for coming in.
- 13:25And again, the date?
- 13:28Speaker 7: October 10th from 1 to 3.
- 13:30Speaker 8: All right.
- 13:30Speaker 7: At the Unity Square.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Okay.
- 13:33Speaker 8: Beautiful downtown Bartlesville.
- 13:34Speaker 7: Beautiful downtown Bartlesville.
- 13:36Speaker 8: And it was going to be perfect.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Yes, it is.
- 13:38Speaker 10: We're throwing some prayers upstairs to make sure that that happens.
- 13:41Speaker 7: Oh, yeah. All right.
- 13:42Speaker 8: All right.
- 13:43Speaker 9: Well, thank you very much for being with us today.
- 13:45Thank you for sharing right here on K1.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Is it time to start thinking about a new car?
- 13:50But the thought of dealing with the large dealerships is
- 13:52just too intimidating, too confusing.
- 13:54Speaker 7: There is an easier way. Tallgrass Motors.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Tallgrass Motors doesn't play all the confusing games the large
- 14:00dealerships play. Tallgrass Motors has continually been voted Bartlesville's best
- 14:04used car dealer year after year. Go buy Tallgrass Motors
- 14:08today and enjoy looking at over 60 used cars, trucks,
- 14:11and SUVs all priced to save you money. Tallgrass Motors,
- 14:15Highway 75 North in Bartlesville.
- 14:18Speaker 13: The first conversation I have with someone's loved one, and
- 14:22I don't care if it's 3 o'clock in the afternoon
- 14:24or 3 o'clock in the morning, that first conversation is, Mr. X,
- 14:28this is Tim Howe with Arnold Moore and the Kent
- 14:30Funeral Home. First of all, sir, let me say I'm
- 14:33very sorry we're having to have this conversation right now.
- 14:36And to the nth degree, those people always appreciate you
- 14:40taking a moment to just pause and say, I'm aware
- 14:44that someone you care about very much has just left you.
- 14:48And I'm sorry that we have to do this, but
- 14:50we have to do this. And if it's 3 o'clock
- 14:53in the morning, I try to be brief but concise
- 14:57and say, do you have any questions or anything I
- 14:59can do for you right now before we meet at
- 15:02our arrangement conference? And sometimes I'll say, you know, can
- 15:05you call my priest?
- 15:07Speaker 8: Can you call my pastor? And I don't mind doing that.
- 15:09It'll be all right. We'll walk through this together.
- 15:11Speaker 14: Arnold Moore and Knee Camp Funeral Home, 710 Dewey, Bartlesville.
- 15:16Speaker 8: We'll walk through this together.
- 15:18Speaker 14: Hi, this is Rod McIlvain, pastor of Grace Community Church.
- 15:24Jesus said greater love has no one than this, that
- 15:26he lay down his life for his friends. Jesus proved
- 15:29his love by laying down his life for the world
- 15:31and then rising from the dead. So now he's the
- 15:33quintessential example of love. If you want to encounter a
- 15:36love that's supernatural, you can come directly to the source
- 15:39of it, Jesus Christ. And if you're looking for a
- 15:41place to experience that love and community, Check us out.
- 15:44Our services are Sundays at 9, 30, 11, or streaming

- 15:57Speaker 7: A reliable network is key for us.
- 16:00Speaker 14: And with T-Mobile, it's been wonderful.
- 16:03Speaker 7: And going to the 55-plus plan saved us so much money.
- 16:06Speaker 10: A lot. And that's important, trying to keep costs down.
- 16:09Speaker 7: The home internet's been perfect. It's fast, it's quick. The
- 16:12setup was so easy, it took less than 15 minutes.
- 16:15Speaker 8: It was like, ta-da!
- 16:19Speaker 13: If you want simplicity, coverage, reliability, you want the whole package,
- 16:24T-Mobile has it.

- 16:49Speaker 8: All rights reserved.
- 16:50Speaker 14: Hi, this is Ron McElvain, pastor of Grace Community Church.
- 16:53Do you ever feel overwhelmed by anxiety and wish you
- 16:56could find real peace? Worry sometimes creeps into our conscious
- 17:00minds like a fog. Worry about the future, our finances,
- 17:04our families. It makes our hearts race and disrupts our sleep.
- 17:08Sometimes it feels we're carrying the weight of the world
- 17:10on our shoulders. But God offers us something better than
- 17:14temporary calm. He offers his active care. In 1 Peter 5, 7,
- 17:19the apostle says, cast all your anxiety on him because
- 17:22he He cares for you. Notice he's talking about not
- 17:26just some of your anxiety, not just the manageable parts
- 17:29of your fears. He's talking about all of it. God's
- 17:32shoulders are strong enough and his heart is big enough
- 17:36to carry what you can't. This isn't a call to
- 17:38pretend everything's fine. It's an invitation to hand it over.
- 17:42God knows how easy it is to endlessly ruminate in
- 17:45mental loops that spiral down. And that's why he invites
- 17:49us to decisively cast our burdens. When we release them.
