As an early childhood educator, it is essential to create curriculum framework that will meet the needs of each student in your classroom. This framework should be designed to foster learning creativity and exploration. It should also be tailored to the various ages and abilities of your students. Here is a guide to creating a successful curriculum framework for your early education classroom. Ms. Jen was determined to bring order back into the curriculum planning and fast. As assistant director, she knew it was her duty to review and approve all curriculums, but after taking a long, hard look things, Ms. Jen realized that the center needed some serious restructuring in order for [00:01:00] everything to work properly. Curriculum is the backbone of any early education classroom. It sets the foundation for what students will learn and how they will learn it. A well-designed curriculum should be developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with state and national standard. When designing your curriculum for your early ed classroom, there are several key elements to consider .Number one, developmental appropriateness. The curriculum should be tailored to the developmental stage of your students. This means that the content, activities and assessments should be appropriate for the age and ability of the students. Number two, cultural responsiveness. The curriculum should reflect and value the diversity of the students and their families. This can be achieved by incorporating multicultural materials and perspectives into the [00:02:00] curriculum, and by creating a classroom environment that is inclusive and respectful of all cultures. Number three, standards alignment. The curriculum should align with state and national standards, such as the common core state standards for early childhood to ensure that students are meeting the expectations for their grade level. Number four, active learning. The curriculum should be hands on and interactive with opportunities for students to engage in activities and projects that allow them to apply what they have learned. Number five, assessment. The curriculum should also include ongoing assessment to measure student progress and inform instruction. This can include formal assessments such as standardized tests, as well as informal assessments such as observations and anecdotal records. [00:03:00] Creating a framework for your early ed classrooms curriculum takes time and careful planning, but the result will be a curriculum that is tailored to the unique needs of your students and aligned with their developmental stage, cultural backgrounds and their learning goals. It's also essential for the program to have a set plan and timeline for how and when the curriculum will be developed. The steps listed below are from a planning tool called "At a Glance Procedure", get organized and simplify the structure for success. #1.- The team leader of each room works with their team to develop a month's worth of curriculum. #2- The team leader turns the curriculum into the supervising director by the 10th of the month for approval. # 3-The director looks for :thematic or season, [00:04:00] holidays covered, cohesive flows, sign language, Spanish, a s well as grammar and spelling. #4- The final version gets typed, converted to a PDF file, uploaded to Constant Contact and it is saved by month by each classroom. 5-On Sunday, the weekly newsletter goes out electronically with the curriculum for the monthinit. #6-Each Monday, the team leader hangs the curriculum for the week on the parent news board. #7-The supervising director will observe the classroom each week to ensure the curriculum is being taught as approved. The curriculum framework that has been provided was invaluable tool for teachers throughout the childcare program. Not only did it provide them with the necessary information to build dynamic and engaging educational [00:05:00] frameworks, but it also inspired them to create exciting, creative and inspiring classroom environments.
