- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the weekend edition of the Daily Rider.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Each weekday, we bring you a short lesson that helps you live out the four practices of a great writer: creativity, consistency, courage, and connection.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: But here on today's special episode, I want to share some details about a project that's been in the work for several months, and I'm super excited to officially reveal to you, and that is the Daily Writer Community.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: But before I get into some details, let me share a quick story.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: From the time I was a kid, I was obsessed with writing and books.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And my favorite place in school, without a doubt, was the library.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I thought it was amazing that you could walk into this room filled with all kinds of books and you could download all this wisdom and knowledge from people throughout history in the form of a printed book.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And what was even cooler was that they'd let you check out these books and take them home for a couple weeks.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Well, then as I got older, I wondered: is writing a book something I could do as well?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: It was a dream that I thought about constantly.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: And one of my most treasured memories was when my junior high English teacher, Mrs.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Mathis, told me that she wanted me to dedicate my first book to her.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I carried that memory around with me for decades, but honestly, I never did anything about it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I wanted to write so badly, but it was a struggle because I was never intentional about building good habits.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I also felt really lonely and isolated because I didn't have anybody there to hold me accountable for my writing goals, and I also wasn't part of a creative community that could help me achieve much more than I could ever achieve on my own.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And I only started seeing success when two things happened.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: First of all, I made the decision to start writing on a regular basis.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: At first it was blogging, then it was writing my own books, and then it was writing and editing for some large publications, then doing a podcast, then doing freelance work for clients, and now also ghostwriting books for business clients and coaching authors.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And that consistent writing habit made a massive difference.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Now, the second thing that happened that made a huge difference was that I got involved in groups, masterminds, and communities.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Now, the writing habit is essential, but nothing would have happened for me if it wasn't for the support and accountability that you can only get in a thriving community.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So after years of consistent writing and working with authors in many different environments, including my own classroom as a college prof, and also as a ghostwriter and as a literary scout for Morgan James Publishing, after all those experiences, I finally decided to start the Daily Writer community.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And this community is for writers who want to be more creative, consistent, courageous, and connected.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you a few questions to see if something like this might be a good fit for you.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Are you looking for a community of enthusiastic, generous writers who can help you get more done, build your writing business, and impact more lives?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Are you tired of chasing success on your own?
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Would you benefit from better habits, better systems, and more support for your writing?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe you're an author, a blogger, a novelist, a business writer, a podcaster, an entrepreneur, a teacher, or you simply want to impact other people's lives with your writing and your content.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking for a community of like-minded writers who will push you to a higher level, who will challenge you and who will support you, the daily writer community might just be the place for you.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: So, how is the daily writer community different than other groups or memberships?
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Well, that's a good question, and I want to explore that here for a second.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: It's true, there's a lot of courses, there's a lot of masterminds, memberships, and other types of groups for writers, but I have noticed two big problems with most of these groups.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: First of all, most of these groups are just way too big.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: When you have hundreds or even thousands of people in a group, whether it's a paid group or it's free, you basically feel like you're lost in this massive ocean of people.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And the daily writer community is limited to 100 people at the max.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: That is the cap.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: And I don't have any plans to grow it beyond that.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: This is a true community that is based on relationships.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: You're really going to get to know the people there.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: They will support you in your writing goals, and you will support them in turn.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Now, the other big problem with most writing groups and communities is that there's not really a careful vetting process.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And basically, what ends up happening is that you have people in the group who aren't serious about their goals or they're not a good fit.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: The Daily Writer Group is very, very focused on personal qualities like generosity, mutual support, taking action, and being engaged.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: This is absolutely not a place for people to sign up and then just kind of be a wallflower or to kind of lurk in the shadows.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I am looking for people who are not only there to accomplish their goals, they're also there to help other people accomplish theirs.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So that's why I keep saying that generosity is a really vital component of the daily writer community.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: If you just want to come and get help for your thing and not help other people, this is not the thing for you.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And in fact, I don't want you to apply because you're not going to be a good fit.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: But if you want to come and learn and grow and also support other people, because you know, in supporting other people, that's where we learn and grow as well.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: If that's the kind of thing that you're looking for, then this may be a really good fit.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: In fact, one of the core foundations of this community is that we are very careful who we let in.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: We vet every single person who joins.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: We make sure the right people stay and the wrong people don't join.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: And that creates a much stronger sense of community and a very high level of trust where people really care about each other and they know each other.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: This is a lot more than just a membership.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: This is truly a family.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And we are intentionally keeping this community small to retain that sense of a family environment.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: This is a place where you will get real support and accountability from real people, not just random strangers from the internet.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: In fact, we have had a small private beta group going for a little over a month now, and it has been so much fun.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: It's been an absolute blast to see this small group of about a dozen people really become close and really come to support each other and get excited about their goals and what they're working on.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And I cannot wait to see this grow over the coming weeks and months as we get up to 100 people and as we cap it at 100, so that we can support each other and really go deeper with our writing goals, with our plans and our ambitions for how we want to impact the world with our writing.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So let's dive into some specifics.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Now that we have talked about basically what the idea behind the group is and what the vibe of this community is, let me share with you 11 specific things that are included in your daily writer membership.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: And then after that, I want to share with you how you can actually join, or rather, how you can apply to join.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So here are some things that are included.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Feature number one is a private Facebook group.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: The Daily Writer Private group on Facebook is where we discuss, where we collaborate, where we connect, and we encourage each other in our writing and our business.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Each Friday we post our wins for the week.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We think about our goals for the coming week, and we also talk about what our biggest challenge is right now.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: We also have discussions throughout the week on various topics related to writing, and group members can post questions about anything related to writing during the week.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Feature number two is courses.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: We are developing courses on themes such as blogging 101, Instagram for writers, self-publishing 101, secrets of storytelling, productivity for writers, time mastery for writers, health and fitness for writers, book marketing 101, podcasting 101, meditation and stress relief for writers, networking for writers, freelance writing 101, and much, much more.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: That just gives you a taste of some things we have planned for this year.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Feature number three is monthly mastermind calls.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: I lead a monthly mastermind call where we have QA, we brainstorm ideas for your writing and your business, and we help solve each other's writing and business related problems.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Honestly, this is one of the most powerful features of the Daily Writer community.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: And this is what a lot of groups lack.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: They lack that personal interaction and engagement.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: I don't want this to be a thing where you're just kind of logging into a thing online to this community board, or you're just kind of talking with people that you never actually engage with.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So these live calls are really one of the main heartbeats of the Daily Writer community.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Feature number four is monthly expert calls.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Every single month we have at least one guest expert who leads a teaching and QA session based on a specific topic like storytelling, writing fiction, book marketing, productivity, self-publishing, podcasting, networking, mindset, and much, much more.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Feature number five is one of my favorite things of the Daily Writer Group, and that is our weekly writing sprints.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Each week we gather for a writing sprint where we take 15 minutes to share writing goals, then 45 minutes to do focused work.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And this accountability and encouragement helps you make some really amazing progress in a short time.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Now, every one of these sprints lasts for several hours, and people pop in and out as they're able to and so forth.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: But man, it is absolutely a blast to do this.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: You're not required to do this, of course, but it's a feature that a lot of people love and that I uh personally love myself.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: And man, if I could just like pick one thing that I could build a group around, if I could only have one feature, it would probably be these writing sprints because they're so incredibly valuable.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Feature number six is access to an exclusive group of mentors.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: The Daily Writer community features a group of mentors who help give guidance and answer questions about specific areas of writing.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: And each of these mentors is a professional in their field.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And these include fields like graphic design, academic writing, storytelling, nonprofit writing, nonfiction book development, and so forth.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: And these are all actually members of the group.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: These are not experts who just come in for a call.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So these are people who are highly engaged and who are thought who are there to help guide us in very specific writing-related areas.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Feature number seven is book and storytelling discussions.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Throughout the year, we will discuss and apply books such as Stephen King's On Writing, Ryan Holliday's Perennial Seller, Aristotle's Poetics, Anne Lamotte's Bird by Bird, and Stephen Pressfield's The War of Art.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: We will also study screenplays, novels, and TV shows to learn about storytelling, narrative, and drama.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: And these discussions and resources will really help improve your writing and your business skills.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Feature number eight is exclusive resources, such as book lists, guides, PDFs, and other things to help guide you on your writing journey.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Feature number nine is daily writing prompts.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Each day, if you sign up for these, you will receive a writing prompt via email.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And these can give you a really awesome creative jumpstart for your journaling, your short stories, novels, blogs, or podcasts.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Feature number 10 is the content archive.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: All of the monthly live calls are bonus calls with experts, courses, and other resources are available inside the archive, available for you to access at any time.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: And also feature number 11 is live and virtual events.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Daily Reiner community members get exclusive access and invitations to upcoming live and virtual events, workshops, and masterminds.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: So, whew, that's a lot of stuff there.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Basically, what I have done in this group, uh, just to kind of be blatantly honest with you, is I imagined the kind of group that I would love to be a part of, and I included all the stuff that I would love to see personally in a group, but because I could not find that type of group anywhere, and I've scoured the internet because I couldn't find that type of group anywhere.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: This is what I've built.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I built the kind of group that I would love to be a part of, and I hope that you would love to be a part of this as well.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So let's review everything that's included in the Daily Writer membership.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: I'm just going to kind of tick off a list here.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: You have access to a private Facebook group, access to all courses, a monthly live mastermind call, a monthly guest expert call, weekly writing sprints, access to an exclusive group of mentors, book and storytelling discussions, exclusive book lists, guides, and other resources, daily writing prompts via email, a content archive, access to the generous action-oriented Daily Writer Online community, priority access for live and virtual events, and a bonus that I'm throwing in there as well, which is members-only pricing for one-on-one writing coaching or book development coaching with me.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: So if this sounds interesting to you, probably the next question that you have is how do I join?
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: What do I actually have to do to take the next step toward joining the awesome Daily Writer community?
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: And the next step is to go to dailywriterlife.com slash apply.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: There's also going to be a link in the show notes.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Um, because you're listening to this, maybe you're driving or out running and you don't want to get on the internet right now, obviously, if you're doing either one of those things.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: So just know that in the show notes, there is a link to dailywriterlife.comslash apply.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: And once you apply, we will look over your application.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And if everything looks good, we'll send a link to purchase your membership.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And if we need more info, we'll set up a Zoom call where we can have a quick chat.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Probably that won't be necessary, but who knows?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Um, the people who have been a part of the beta launch team are people that I have personally know and have invited to the group.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I did a bunch of personal invites last month.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: But when you fill out that application, you're going to give us some information about your current writing, what your writing experience is, what your goals are for writing, how you can help the people in the group, like in other words, what you're bringing to the group, and so forth.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So take care of that application by going to dailywriteyourlife.com slash apply.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Now, speaking of purchasing your membership, you're probably wondering what the investment is.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Right now, while we are building this group, the founding member price is$25 a month for the first 25 members.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: We already have some of those spots taken and the rest of those are going to go pretty quickly, I'm sure.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: But if you pay for the year up front, it's$250.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: So essentially, if you pay up front for the whole year, you're getting two months for free.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: And once we get to$50 members, the price increases to$50 a month after that.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: And then once we get to 50 members, it increases again.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: So essentially what we're doing is rewarding the action takers and the founding members by giving a very special rate of$25 a month, which is less than a dollar a day for all of the amazing features of the Daily Writer community.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Again, to apply, go to dailywriterlife.com/slash apply.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: There's a link in the show notes to do that.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Now, before I sign off on this episode, let me address one more item.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: You might be wondering whether you are the right fit for the Daily Writer community.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: So here's how to know if you are right for this group.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: If you're looking for a community of enthusiastic, generous writers to help you get more done, build your writing business, and impact more lives, then you might be a good fit.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: If you're tired of chasing success on your own, you might be a good fit.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: If you would benefit from better habits, systems, and support for your writing, you might be a good fit.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: So you get the point.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: And again, as I mentioned earlier, I could not find this kind of writing community anywhere.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: So this is what I've built.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: I put in all the features that I would love to see in a community, and I'm now offering this to you.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: We've had a beta launch the last few weeks, and it's been going super, super extremely well.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: We've had a blast, and now I'm really, really excited to open it up to the public.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: So again, if you want to apply, go to dailywriterlife.com slash apply.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: If you have any questions, you can hit me up on Instagram or Facebook at Kent Sanders, or you can also shoot me an email at Kent at dailywriterlife.com.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: So there you have it.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to this episode, and I will see you tomorrow.
