- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. We Love you,
- 0:09Speaker 2: and we're we're taking a little break a week break
- 0:11Speaker 2: for the fourth of July. And we say this thinking
- 0:14Speaker 2: that there will be no bachelor breaking news, but it
- 0:16Speaker 2: seems like every week there is bachelor breaking news somebody.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We'll see you for Fourth of July week. But Dawson
- 0:23Speaker 2: and I, Wow, that's just nuts. This is how mom
- 0:25Speaker 2: brand I am. I just said Dawson and I are
- 0:28Speaker 2: going to bring you this episode of the Almost Famous podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 2: But really Ben is here with Winnie. She looks adorable.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Jess just needed like a little mom day break. So
- 0:40Speaker 2: we have Winnie here and it's gonna be her first
- 0:42Speaker 2: Fourth of July. Ben, do you guys have any plans?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Are you afraid of how fireworks may go over with her?
- 0:51Speaker 3: No, I'm not. I mean I'm gonna have to get
- 0:53Speaker 3: used to them because I grew up on a lake
- 0:55Speaker 3: and fireworks are a big part of our life. This
- 0:57Speaker 3: is a big holiday for me, you know, for of
- 1:00Speaker 3: July in Indiana is like our super Bowl every year,
- 1:05Speaker 3: especially in the Lake, and it feels like it's I
- 1:08Speaker 3: used to think that was a very uncommon feeling, where
- 1:11Speaker 3: for us it was just like, no, we do a
- 1:13Speaker 3: big it's a big deal. It seems like a lot
- 1:15Speaker 3: of people kind of use the fourth of July as
- 1:18Speaker 3: a time to gather as a family, to cook out,
- 1:22Speaker 3: to just hang out. It doesn't have the stresses of
- 1:25Speaker 3: other holidays where like you have to be performative and
- 1:28Speaker 3: put on a big meal or get gifts for everybody.
- 1:31Speaker 3: It's just really a time to relax. So yeah, starting
- 1:34Speaker 3: this weekend, I'm going to be driving back to Indiana
- 1:37Speaker 3: with whalan You too, just too well, my dad is
- 1:42Speaker 3: gonna fly out and we're gonna pick him up at
- 1:44Speaker 3: the Denver Airport and just start driving west. Uh oh yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 3: oh that's why mom needs breaks. And so we're gonna
- 1:54Speaker 3: drive back. It's going to be about sixteen hours and
- 1:56Speaker 3: then Winnie and Jess are going to meet us in
- 1:58Speaker 3: Indiana fly back. Then just easiest then to expect a
- 2:03Speaker 3: four month old to drive across the country.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're doing it for Whalen. The drives for Whalen,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and so that you have an extra car.
- 2:11Speaker 3: No, the drive's really for Whalen. I mean, I could
- 2:13Speaker 3: rent a car, but he loves the lake so much.
- 2:16Speaker 3: He just chills out, he relaxes, and I want him
- 2:21Speaker 3: there because I end up taking the week of the
- 2:23Speaker 3: fourth off of all work. Generous kind of closes down obviously.
- 2:28Speaker 3: We're taking the week off here.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the Christmas of the summer.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred percent is. But it's more relaxing to me. Yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 3: And so then I'll stick around for a little bit
- 2:41Speaker 3: longer when WINNI and just come back to Denver, because
- 2:47Speaker 3: then I'll work from there. Like Generus's roastery is there,
- 2:50Speaker 3: We'll do some events there, we'll kind of hang out,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and so I'll start working again and then I'll come back.
- 2:55Speaker 3: It's Whinnie's first time. It's not our first time in
- 2:57Speaker 3: the lake, but it's our first summer at the lake.
- 3:00Speaker 3: She loves the water, and so I have a feeling
- 3:03Speaker 3: she's gonna be splashing all around having a good time.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And then my in laws, my brother in law, his
- 3:11Speaker 3: wife and their daughter are gonna come meet us in
- 3:14Speaker 3: Indiana and hang out for just like two and a
- 3:17Speaker 3: half days just to enjoy the lake as well. It's
- 3:20Speaker 3: a big deal for us. We're gonna have a lot
- 3:21Speaker 3: of fun.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So yeah, she's gonna love the water. The water is
- 3:26Speaker 2: like the easiest distraction for babies at this age because
- 3:30Speaker 2: they can just sit in like two inches of it
- 3:32Speaker 2: and splash for quite some time. Oh yeah, you give
- 3:35Speaker 2: yourself a little break with that. Fireworks are interesting. I
- 3:39Speaker 2: don't remember how Dawson was at this age, and Hayden
- 3:42Speaker 2: was born right after the fourth of July, and Hayden
- 3:45Speaker 2: it's probably gonna freaking hate the fireworks. Dawson is now
- 3:49Speaker 2: at the age where he's cautious. He cautiously thinks they're cool,
- 3:52Speaker 2: you know, like where he's a little scared and has
- 3:54Speaker 2: to be held tight. The sound is terrifying, But like
- 3:59Speaker 2: when you see the payoff, which is the lights in
- 4:01Speaker 2: the sky, he's like, oh man, I guess it's like flighter.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He's in flighter fight. Like the entire time he's like
- 4:06Speaker 2: what do I do? Do I sit here and enjoy
- 4:08Speaker 2: or do I freak out? So I think this year
- 4:11Speaker 2: he'll even like it more. In Sparklers, he might be
- 4:13Speaker 2: at Sparkler age, which when I think about Fourth of July,
- 4:16Speaker 2: in my childhood, it was always about the sparklers, right, yes.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And also bottle rockets, not at that age, but we
- 4:23Speaker 3: used to have, like fireworks in Indiana get dangerous, and
- 4:26Speaker 3: so I've been more cautious as I've gotten older, and
- 4:29Speaker 3: we used to light off fireworks every year, like do
- 4:32Speaker 3: a pretty good show from my parents' house. But I
- 4:36Speaker 3: think that's gonna be on pause this year, mostly because
- 4:39Speaker 3: there's going to be a toddler and a baby and
- 4:42Speaker 3: nobody can you know, move that fast, so it might
- 4:46Speaker 3: be on pause. Yeah, it's it's really exciting. The lake
- 4:50Speaker 3: that my parents live on and that I grew up on,
- 4:54Speaker 3: they do like a parade, like a flotilla parade. It's
- 4:58Speaker 3: they have a good sandbar, like it's going to be
- 5:02Speaker 3: a week of like swim swim trunks, shirtless, laying outside,
- 5:08Speaker 3: never going inside, cocktails early in the morning after I
- 5:12Speaker 3: always get a run in.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Can I come and hang? I think I need to come.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I think I think you would benefit from it. There's
- 5:18Speaker 3: like nothing that goes on in my mind during this time,
- 5:23Speaker 3: and it's awesome. And so I'm hoping that this little one,
- 5:27Speaker 3: who has been a little fussy recently that's why she's
- 5:29Speaker 3: with me because she's teething, is in good spirits. She
- 5:34Speaker 3: has her outfits. In fact, I had lunch yesterday Ashley
- 5:38Speaker 3: with Trista.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And yeah I saw that you guys meet in Denver.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, we met in Denver. We had a great lunch.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Trista got Winny a swimsuit and sunglasses for the fourth
- 5:51Speaker 3: of July, which are going to be looking so good.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:55Speaker 3: So yeah, we're fired up. It's a really good time.
- 5:59Speaker 3: And then it's nice to be back with a team
- 6:01Speaker 3: at Generis, honestly and be in person with them. It's
- 6:05Speaker 3: you know, because I live in Denver, I'm not always there,
- 6:08Speaker 3: and so it's gonna be great. We have some couple,
- 6:11Speaker 3: We have a kid's talent show we're putting on for
- 6:13Speaker 3: the town.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Ah, that's so cute.
- 6:17Speaker 3: We have a little rapper that signed up. Oh my god, Yes,
- 6:20Speaker 3: let's go.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's awesome. How is Jess going to be flying with her?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Has she done it solo before?
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Many times. It's probably not the best thing we've done
- 6:30Speaker 3: as parents. But I'll say it because it's true. Winnie
- 6:34Speaker 3: has this will be what once she flies to Indiana
- 6:37Speaker 3: it will be her twelfth flight.
- 6:40Speaker 2: That's not weird for us. We've probably done the same.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Hayden's probably been on a flight almost every month.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Because we just want her with us.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Pretty easy, honestly, Like I'm gonna drive back with so
- 6:53Speaker 3: much of her stuff. Jess has flown solo with her
- 6:57Speaker 3: a couple of times now, Yeah, and they just kick it.
- 7:00Speaker 3: They kind of have a routine down. They get to
- 7:02Speaker 3: the airport early when he's really good on a plane,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and so yeah, we'll be she'll be fine.
- 7:08Speaker 2: You're still in the sweet zone of planes. So, like,
- 7:11Speaker 2: I think that planes are probably pretty easy until they're
- 7:14Speaker 2: about seven eight months when it stops to be like
- 7:19Speaker 2: nap time, you know, when they have when they they
- 7:24Speaker 2: fall asleep less easily, you know, because they're like I
- 7:27Speaker 2: have my designated two hour sleep periods. Then you're like,
- 7:31Speaker 2: oh gosh, then it gets really hard for in my
- 7:35Speaker 2: personal opinion, between like that seven eight month range until well,
- 7:41Speaker 2: you know what, until they can watch a couple shows. Yeah, okay,
- 7:46Speaker 2: a couple of shows. Dawson has his airplane iPad. He
- 7:49Speaker 2: doesn't have the iPad at all except on an airplane,
- 7:52Speaker 2: and once they get he is at the easiest plane
- 7:56Speaker 2: time at three and a half. Now, he went to
- 7:59Speaker 2: Las I guess for my sister's wedding, So it was
- 8:01Speaker 2: like five hours in the air and he just watched
- 8:04Speaker 2: a few movies and he was on his own. It
- 8:06Speaker 2: was so nice. But then Hayden's over there flair in
- 8:09Speaker 2: his body.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I will say speaking to that, you know, my whole
- 8:27Speaker 3: work in life is to try to love humans well,
- 8:30Speaker 3: and I will be honest, it's not always easy, especially
- 8:33Speaker 3: coming off the show. People are pretty brutal, and social
- 8:36Speaker 3: media makes you.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Question a lot.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I have been so thankful for the responses that people
- 8:45Speaker 3: that sit next to you on a plane when you
- 8:47Speaker 3: have a baby give. They've been very kind. We have
- 8:50Speaker 3: not had a bad run in yet. A lot of
- 8:53Speaker 3: wow she did so well, or yeah, wow, I barely
- 8:57Speaker 3: heard her, or how you know this just like really
- 9:00Speaker 3: encouraging things because as a parent and as anybody that's
- 9:03Speaker 3: had kids knows, there's nothing you can do once they
- 9:06Speaker 3: start being uncomfortable to get them calmed down. So people
- 9:11Speaker 3: have been very kind, and I know it is annoying,
- 9:13Speaker 3: and I know it's not fair, especially when you're trying
- 9:16Speaker 3: to take a nap on a flight. It's just it's
- 9:18Speaker 3: not fun for anybody.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That's what ear plugs are for, so always have good
- 9:22Speaker 2: ear plugs near bag, because some of them are crappy.
- 9:26Speaker 3: That's right. What are you up to on the fourth?
- 9:29Speaker 2: I think we're just going to be going to a
- 9:30Speaker 2: friend's house. I think they're going to have like some
- 9:34Speaker 2: decent at home fireworks and it should be just a
- 9:37Speaker 2: family thing, I'm sure. I think their house is on
- 9:39Speaker 2: the water, so it'll be it'll be fun.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Is Newport known for its for the July festivities?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Not really? Okay, yeah, no, No, it's more of like
- 9:50Speaker 2: the inland areas which are like on water, but more
- 9:54Speaker 2: of like bay water and like set them off in
- 9:56Speaker 2: the bay areas.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Well, Ashley as we kind of close out here. Obviously,
- 10:01Speaker 3: both of our fourths are gonna be fun and hopefully relaxing,
- 10:05Speaker 3: and we hope everybody listening has a relaxing, RESTful no
- 10:08Speaker 3: matter what you're doing. If you're staying at home and
- 10:12Speaker 3: maybe you aren't able to gather with friends or family
- 10:15Speaker 3: by yourself a hot dog, throw it on the grill, like,
- 10:17Speaker 3: come on, enjoy it a little bit, have a good time.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Maybe you know, go outside by yourself a sparkler, light
- 10:26Speaker 3: it off. I think it's going to bring some joy.
- 10:29Speaker 3: We do have some things when we come back from
- 10:31Speaker 3: our break that are happening in Bachelor Nation, Paradise will
- 10:35Speaker 3: be starting getting more excited for it. Ashley, I have
- 10:39Speaker 3: been with Wells and I was with Joey and Wells
- 10:42Speaker 3: in Portland, Maine at the Drive for Kids golf tournament
- 10:45Speaker 3: this week talking to Wells more about Paradise. I still
- 10:49Speaker 3: don't have any spoilers, and I mean that mostly for
- 10:54Speaker 3: my own safety during the show. But you know, Wells
- 10:58Speaker 3: is very honest I think with me and really the
- 11:01Speaker 3: press on how he feels. I think he has some
- 11:04Speaker 3: excitement towards this season coming up, and I think that
- 11:08Speaker 3: excitement usually means the show is could be good. It
- 11:11Speaker 3: doesn't mean it's going to be but it could be good.
- 11:15Speaker 3: That there was things happening that he seemed to find
- 11:17Speaker 3: very interesting as he was on the beach.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I have heard from one contestant there, and the most
- 11:27Speaker 2: interesting tibt I got was that there's not as much
- 11:31Speaker 2: of a cast to choose from for you know, potential mates,
- 11:36Speaker 2: because the extra cast went to the Goldens.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Ashley, elaborate a little bit on what you think that
- 11:44Speaker 3: means and what that will play out, Like, I.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Think there's gonna be less coupleings, less serious couple things,
- 11:48Speaker 2: but hopefully, since Wells is leaning into the fact that
- 11:53Speaker 2: like it's good, I think that that could mean that
- 11:57Speaker 2: the couple or the like two couples we get from
- 12:00Speaker 2: it end up being strong.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And I would be okay with that right, less couple,
- 12:06Speaker 3: stronger couples. I think it's a great mix. We just
- 12:09Speaker 3: want to see a few come from it because we
- 12:11Speaker 3: know it has been and can be successful. I do think,
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, the rumors of more of a competition show
- 12:18Speaker 3: is going to bring an intriguing element to this whole experience.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I do think that the Golden's being there will be
- 12:26Speaker 3: fun and interesting, so Paradise will come back in addition
- 12:31Speaker 3: to that. Is there anything else that you can foresee
- 12:35Speaker 3: happening in Bachelor Nation? We're still waiting on a confirmation
- 12:39Speaker 3: if the Bachelor is going to get picked up. We
- 12:43Speaker 3: also this week Ashlely heard really the first interview with
- 12:47Speaker 3: our new Golden Bachelor. I believe from a headline I
- 12:51Speaker 3: read and from a little story I read. He is
- 12:53Speaker 3: in his mid sixties. He's looking for somebody between forty
- 12:56Speaker 3: five and sixty, so he's looking to go a little
- 12:59Speaker 3: younger doesn't mean the show will accommodate that for him,
- 13:03Speaker 3: But we will be starting to talk more and more
- 13:05Speaker 3: about the Golden Show.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah, because we should be getting some spoilers about that soon,
- 13:11Speaker 2: being that they start filming in July.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and then, like we said, we'll be watching to
- 13:15Speaker 3: see if the Bachelor actually gets announced to come back.
- 13:17Speaker 3: There are some big things along the way. But again
- 13:21Speaker 3: from the Almost Famous podcast, we want to wish you
- 13:24Speaker 3: the happiest Fourth of July is and really the first
- 13:28Speaker 3: week of what I consider summer, which is July, the
- 13:33Speaker 3: time to thaw out, rest up, take a break, read
- 13:39Speaker 3: a book, if you have the opportunity to get off
- 13:41Speaker 3: work for a few days, try to enjoy this, you know,
- 13:47Speaker 3: this week as much as possible. We'll be thinking about you.
- 13:50Speaker 3: We'll be gathering up all the stories and the information
- 13:53Speaker 3: to share with you when we get back. But until
- 13:56Speaker 3: next time, we've been Whyona and Ben, I've.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Been Ashley as cute? She did great? Yeah.
