- 0:05Hey everybody. Welcome back to the space news
- 0:07pod. This is a show about SpaceX NASA
- 0:08and space flight. I'm your host will Walden.
- 0:11And in this episode we're going to be taking a look at the CRS
- 0:1323 launch. There's some isolated views that
- 0:16NASA released on their website. One, take a look at those real
- 0:19quick but also I got to tell you guys this because it's pretty
- 0:24funny. I got attacked, not attacked,
- 0:27but I got swarmed by wasps Day in the studio right here.
- 0:32Like, there's a window over there and like three wasps flew
- 0:37in here the same time, and I don't have much room.
- 0:40So right before I started this, I had a can of raid that I was
- 0:43defending myself with it, is back there and I almost left it
- 0:46up there before I started filming.
- 0:49So that's super important and very space sex-based just like
- 0:53today's episode. So what I'll let you know, the
- 0:56kind of working conditions I've been in for the last couple of
- 0:59years while I've been doing A show like Hornets wasps bees.
- 1:04I get baths in here at night. I don't I live basically in a
- 1:09place that's like super dangerous.
- 1:11I guess. I don't know.
- 1:12It's it's hilarious but also I don't want to get stung.
- 1:16So I had like a can of raid it up there.
- 1:19Anyway, that has nothing to do with SpaceX.
- 1:21I just want to let you guys know that that's not going to happen
- 1:26when I'm in Texas. I might have little lizards, I
- 1:28don't know. We'll see, but I'll be there.
- 1:32I'm starting on Sunday and nobody told me why didn't
- 1:35anybody tell me that? It's Labor Day weekend this
- 1:37weekend. I didn't know that and I guess
- 1:41everyone's going to be traveling, including myself.
- 1:44So I'm gonna get myself a few days, extra to kind of like,
- 1:49navigate that whole thing, because I'm going to be driving,
- 1:51first day, 8 to 9 hours. S 8, to 9 hours third day,
- 1:57around the same. Seven to eight to nine hours,
- 1:59somewhere around there. And I'm going to get there on
- 2:02the fifth day, early in the morning, check into my new
- 2:06apartment, which is the studio. As well.
- 2:09And yeah, I'm gonna go check some stuff out after that.
- 2:12So maybe maybe on the 10th the 10th is when I get there.
- 2:16Maybe we'll get a little bit of footage.
- 2:17I'm not sure. We'll see what happens.
- 2:19See, what time I get there, but it would be kind of cool even to
- 2:22go there. Like, go to space X star base
- 2:24and just be like, this is cool. We did it, everybody.
- 2:28So we'll see what happens. But other than that, guess what
- 2:32there are today? Guess what's happening?
- 2:37This new road closures, by the way, I don't know if you know
- 2:40this but this road closures between 8 a.m. and noon today.
- 2:44Here are some stair base News. 8 a.m. to noon p.m. today
- 2:48intermittent closures been canceled.
- 2:51This one isn't for today but the one for tomorrow, September 2nd,
- 2:54intermittent closure schedule. Boca Chica will remain open.
- 2:57So not a big deal. This show is brought to you by

- 4:57you with it it's really powerful.
- 4:59It is really easy to use so go to back plays.com / heel on back
- 5:03plays.com Ilan. The backblaze.com ceylon.
- 5:10Then I going to be doing static fires or anything like that
- 5:13because they can't yet, so they're just going to be moving
- 5:16stuff around TSE tanks, Etc. They're going to be moving heavy
- 5:20machinery around, probably lifting some stuff, getting
- 5:23some, some crane action. I don't know.
- 5:25I don't know what they're going to be doing today or tomorrow on
- 5:28September 2nd, but I'll be around to tell you what happened
- 5:32and as it happens, if we have a live stream, the stream lately
- 5:36has been super foggy. So I haven't been able to put it
- 5:38up so I apologize for that. Can't do anything about it but
- 5:42this is cool. I want to show you guys this
- 5:44other cool thing. So you know there's there's a
- 5:50TFR which is a flight restriction Zone around SpaceX
- 5:55Starbase means basically don't fly your plane here.
- 5:59Don't walk over here. Don't hang out here while we're
- 6:03doing space-based flights and static fires and stuff like
- 6:06that. But SpaceX has had a A
- 6:105,000-foot TFR in place for a little while now because they
- 6:15didn't expect to launch anything.
- 6:18So they just updated that for September first, I want to show
- 6:23you this. This is the new TFR.
- 6:28Right here for Brownsville Texas.
- 6:32It's near Brownsville Texas. Basically, it's Starbase August
- 6:351st. 2021 is the issue date, but it's for September 1st through
- 6:40September 30th space, operations area, space operations.
- 6:46But the important part is down here.
- 6:52For an altitude, from the surface up to including 1,000 or
- 6:5610,000 feet. That's a high flight for
- 7:01Starship. All right.
- 7:03So, any tfrs that were in place before, for 5,000 feet are all
- 7:08gone and now they raised it to 10,000 feet.
- 7:10So, it looks like SpaceX is getting ready to fly Starship.
- 7:15This is kind of like, this is an indicator that Starship Beep
- 7:19will be flying in the near future.
- 7:21We're not sure exactly when A month, maybe?
- 7:26Who knows? I'm not exactly sure.
- 7:28But SpaceX has this in place. Here's the actual TFR image.
- 7:34There's a little Starship little circle around.
- 7:36It used to have a big Square remember that but this is more
- 7:40confined more defined and I like that it doesn't even look like.
- 7:46Okay so it doesn't look very technical like this doesn't look
- 7:50like a technical drawing which is kind of funny too.
- 7:53Maybe it's like, look at this. Look, look at those lines that
- 7:56go into Starship. I'm going to show you.
- 7:58This is kind of fun. I noticed this last night I was
- 8:00like, dude come on but they're not.
- 8:04It doesn't look like they're spaced properly.
- 8:05It looks like somebody just kind of like Drew this on with
- 8:07Microsoft Paint kind of cool but 10,000 feet launched a Starship.
- 8:14Come on, that'll be awesome. So anyway I want to show you
- 8:18this other thing to want to show you.
- 8:20This other thing, there's a CRS, 23 launch happened.
- 8:25The other day, successful launch of a scarcity crew Dragon, but a
- 8:31cargo Dragon, the top of Falcon 9 the went to the International
- 8:34Space Station docked, everything's cool, right?
- 8:38But I want to show you these isolated views from that launch.
- 8:41There's some this one in particular is super cool.
- 8:46This is Is. From the launch, the liftoff
- 8:53from the Falcons view looking down at the pad.
- 8:58So if you're strapped down the side of a falcon 9 is what would
- 9:00happen to you. Chamber pressure is phenomenal,
- 9:08phenomenal. Not just nominal, it's
- 9:10phenomenal. But this is like going through
- 9:16clouds going through kind of seishin going through the
- 9:19environment, then it clears that it just looks, it looks amazing.
- 9:25You can see the condensation buildup on the camera.
- 9:29But you can scrub through this. This is all available on nests.
- 9:32It's images that nasa.gov and there is beautiful views.
- 9:38Look at this, Look at it right there.
- 9:41Watch this one's really cool too.
- 9:47Watch this. This is a really cool one.
- 9:53Or go Dragon takes flight. Continuing a busy year of
- 9:56deliveries to approve seven aboard, the International Space
- 9:59Station. 15 seconds of that were.
- 10:07There you go? That's pretty amazing Max Q
- 10:10coming up. My favorite part of a flight,
- 10:14let me know in the comments. What your favorite part of a
- 10:17flight is because mine's Max Q because once you get past Max Q,
- 10:22it's usually easy sailing after that.
- 10:25It's easy going after Max Q that's the scary part of the
- 10:28flight for me. So that's like all the tension
- 10:32is like gone after Mexico. For me, I'm like, okay, this is
- 10:36cool. We can just fly to wherever
- 10:37we're going to fly to. I want to show you another thing
- 10:41because SpaceX has a bunch of cranes.
- 10:44Bunch of heavy lift operations going on.
- 10:46A Starbase in. They have you know at the bottom
- 10:49of these cranes they have these big tank tracks right?
- 10:53So Chris from NASA, space flight.
- 10:58Posted this after Max at Max nine, nine, zero seven, eight,
- 11:03two, six four, six zero Max. How do you remember that to
- 11:06login, by the way at Tesla Rowdy team?
- 11:11Hey, I just saw this on the German Autobahn this morning.
- 11:15It's coming from Austria. In might be heading to Hamburg
- 11:18or Rotterdam. Port looks like a part of the
- 11:20future transport vehicle for getting Starship to the launch
- 11:24pad. And you notice this, it has the
- 11:28SpaceX logo emblazoned on the side.
- 11:31It's painted black. So there's been speculation.
- 11:36About this. What is this for?
- 11:39Is this for a track for a crane, or is this a track for the catch
- 11:45arms for Starship? Because usually it's for
- 11:50something like this, you know, it's for a giant crane like
- 11:53this. But can they use this, or this
- 11:56kind of thing? You know, can they use this
- 11:59crane tread? The catch Starship or the
- 12:08booster. Speculation goes wild people on
- 12:13Twitter, went nuts, even here right here.
- 12:17Elon Musk tank. Treads on the arms.
- 12:21Tank treads, huh? Actually you know what?
- 12:26I'm going to take that back. Let me know in the comments.
- 12:28If you think these tank armor, these tank treads are going to
- 12:30be the arms, the catch arm treads for the tower because I
- 12:38wish it weren't the case, but I'm guessing it's probably just
- 12:41for a tower or for a, for a crane.
- 12:45This is for a Libra, crawler crane with a SpaceX logo, so it
- 12:50might be kind of cool. Like maybe they're just going to
- 12:52put these tracks on the crane and there, you know, just has a
- 12:55Cool SpaceX logo on it, like maybe customize your crane
- 12:58people, I don't know, but let me know what you think.
- 13:03It might be over engineered for a catch arm, but it also might
- 13:07be able to do the job really. Well, I do.
- 13:10It's like, it's all kind of up in the air right now.
- 13:13Could they take this and use it for a catcher?
- 13:17I don't know. Let me know in the comments, so
- 13:18take back the other one. So let me know in the comments.
- 13:20What you think about this? Do you think this is for the
- 13:22catch arm, or do you think it's for a crane?
- 13:27I don't know. None of us really know at this
- 13:29point, so we'll see. But usually they just lift, you
- 13:33know, lift up starships and boosters with a crane.
- 13:36Could this be flycatcher? I don't know.
- 13:39That's about it. Thanks everybody.
- 13:41A few more days until I leave for Starbase.
- 13:44Let's see, Wednesday today, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 13:47Sunday, Sunday morning, I have four days until I leave for
- 13:54Starbase. Bass.
- 13:56So stoked. I'll see you guys tomorrow with
- 13:59more videos about Starbase and Starship.
- 14:02Take care. Bye.
- 14:03Bye.
