- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Inside the Charge. Maddie Glab
- 0:11Speaker 1: alongside of, stepping in for Ray Davis. We've got defensive
- 0:15Speaker 1: lineman Dwayne Carter, everybody.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You know, glad to be here. Glad to be here.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You know, I appreciate it. Ray is a very tough
- 0:22Speaker 2: act to follow. So, I see what I can do.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Come on.
- 0:24Speaker 1: You got your Fat Boy Fridays. You were born for
- 0:26Speaker 1: the camera, DC.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Of course. Shameless plug right there. Fat Boy Fridays.
- 0:30Speaker 1: We'll get into that later because we got to talk
- 0:33Speaker 1: about Fat Boy Fridays and the love you're getting from
- 0:35Speaker 1: a bunch of brands.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It's been amazing. But first, we have to recap that
- 0:41Speaker 1: week three victory over the Chargers. Dwayne, head coach Joe
- 0:45Speaker 1: Brady said the defense kept the team in it. The
- 0:49Speaker 1: Chargers scored just 10 points off of five turnovers. Defense
- 0:52Speaker 1: really locked in in the second half. What was the
- 0:55Speaker 1: biggest adjustment that you guys made?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's just, you know, it's funny because
- 1:00Speaker 2: obviously Our first two weeks were so explosive, right? So,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I mean, they're 30-point games, 40-point games. We know the defense, like,
- 1:05Speaker 2: that's not our standard. That's not what we want to
- 1:07Speaker 2: be known as. So it was kind of the emphasis
- 1:09Speaker 2: this week, all right, no matter what happens, like, they
- 1:12Speaker 2: don't score, they don't win. And that's kind of the
- 1:13Speaker 2: mentality that we have, right? So, you know, offense, they
- 1:17Speaker 2: picked us up the first two weeks. So when it
- 1:19Speaker 2: comes to us, it shows we're just a true team, right,
- 1:21Speaker 2: a true brotherhood, and that we can trust each other.
- 1:23Speaker 2: That's been cool, kind of the messaging, like, all right,
- 1:25Speaker 2: we're not just, you know, an offensive football team. We're
- 1:27Speaker 2: not a defensive football team. We are a football team.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I think that was evident this weekend.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Brady also said he loved the defensive intentionality in the
- 1:35Speaker 1: week leading up to the Chargers game. What was different
- 1:39Speaker 1: about the way you guys practiced?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, like I said, I think just the intentionality, I
- 1:42Speaker 2: think is a great word for it. Like it was,
- 1:45Speaker 2: all right, maybe my hands weren't getting up here or
- 1:47Speaker 2: maybe our rotation wasn't getting up here. Maybe we aligned
- 1:49Speaker 2: a different place or our hand wasn't in the right spot.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It's just all these little details and fine details that
- 1:54Speaker 2: we really had a conversation about, whether it's in the
- 1:56Speaker 2: meeting room, on the field, in our unit meeting, So
- 1:59Speaker 2: it's just, you know, it's just not like, I'm not
- 2:01Speaker 2: going to say it was a bind because we've all
- 2:02Speaker 2: been bought in, but it's just like, you know, like
- 2:04Speaker 2: the extra urgency without emergency about, you know, things we
- 2:08Speaker 2: want to fix.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You talk about the brotherhood that the defense already has
- 2:11Speaker 1: in the first two weeks, not being happy with the performance,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but answering that in week three and allowing just 16 points.
- 2:18Speaker 1: How reassuring is that to see that you can make
- 2:21Speaker 1: an adjustment this early in the season and it's working?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's pretty cool, especially, you know, see
- 2:27Speaker 2: all the stats, right? Because A lot of times you
- 2:29Speaker 2: lose a turnover battle, like it's almost a guaranteed loss
- 2:32Speaker 2: and an ugly one, right? So it's a big kudos to, one,
- 2:35Speaker 2: our defense and our team. But, two, knowing it's that
- 2:38Speaker 2: early in the season and we didn't panic, there was
- 2:40Speaker 2: no freaking out or anything going on from anybody on
- 2:43Speaker 2: the sideline. At the end of the day, figure out
- 2:45Speaker 2: what we need to do to win that ball game,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and we did it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: No panic on the sidelines. What is Dwayne Carter's personality
- 2:51Speaker 1: during a game on the sidelines?
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's funny. Everybody, like, you know, me being kind of bubbly, extroverted, And,
- 2:59Speaker 2: you know, as footballers, oh, you got to be mean, tough,
- 3:01Speaker 2: and that is very true, but I'm kind of really
- 3:03Speaker 2: the same person. Okay. Until we get to the tunnel and, like,
- 3:06Speaker 2: the anthem starts, then something kind of flicks and clicks
- 3:09Speaker 2: in my head, like, all right, like, it's time to go.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And that, I'm not going to say alter ego, but
- 3:13Speaker 2: I guess so, like, kind of comes out. And then,
- 3:15Speaker 2: you know, we just turn it into, and once the
- 3:17Speaker 2: game gets rolling, I'm kind of the same way.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And I just view the game as... A big practice
- 3:22Speaker 2: with TV cameras and fans and more noise.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Lights, camera, action.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You know, that's when I play my best, when I'm
- 3:27Speaker 2: more relaxed.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I love that. Because some people, they are a different
- 3:31Speaker 1: person in a game than they are outside of a game.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Like sometimes, like you're a yapper. You like to talk.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You're bubbly.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's like on the sidelines, maybe you're quiet and completely
- 3:41Speaker 1: locked in. But if you're relaxed, you say, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm the same Dwayne Carter.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It is, right? And it's about being yourself. Like some
- 3:46Speaker 2: guys have to take it to that place where they,
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know, super quiet. super locked in, focused, angry, I
- 3:52Speaker 2: don't know. But for me, I've tried all those different methods,
- 3:55Speaker 2: and I found what's best is just sitting here doing this, relaxing, vibing.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You know, obviously, you know, and I got to handle
- 4:01Speaker 2: business on the other side of the game. But, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: there are those moments where you see me, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 2: a little bit more fired up, angry, and I don't
- 4:06Speaker 2: think it's more angry. It's just passion. You know, we
- 4:08Speaker 2: love the game. I love the game. And, you know,
- 4:10Speaker 2: we make plays. We celebrate. We do all those celebrations
- 4:12Speaker 2: and have fun doing it.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Dwayne, coming off of an Achilles injury last year, you've
- 4:16Speaker 1: had a strong start to the season, six tackles, You're
- 4:19Speaker 1: playing physical. What's clicking for you right now?
- 4:23Speaker 2: You know, honestly, I think it's just the trust and
- 4:28Speaker 2: belief in myself and the work that I did. Obviously,
- 4:31Speaker 2: it's a very big injury coming off. And this whole thing, like,
- 4:35Speaker 2: can you come back? You're 20 pounds, 30 pounds heavier.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Can you move the same? Is your strength the same?
- 4:42Speaker 2: And it's just funny answering those questions to yourself. It's like, well,
- 4:45Speaker 2: I've run faster than I have since I've been here.
- 4:47Speaker 2: My body fat's the lowest I've had since I've been here.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I've been the strongest since I've been here. You put
- 4:50Speaker 2: on 18 pounds of muscles in nine months, and that's
- 4:55Speaker 2: kind of, like, freakish. It's just all these things that
- 4:58Speaker 2: are compounding. So, like, I got to the point where
- 4:59Speaker 2: it's like, all right, let's just trust it. And as
- 5:02Speaker 2: soon as we put those pads on the camp, that's
- 5:03Speaker 2: when it just started to click for me. And then,
- 5:05Speaker 2: you know, going into preseason, you know, I got so
- 5:08Speaker 2: happy we had preseason at home first so I could
- 5:09Speaker 2: get all those jitters out the way. Yes. And after that,
- 5:11Speaker 2: it's just been, you know, we're just rolling and doing
- 5:13Speaker 2: my best to do my job whenever my numbers call out.
- 5:15Speaker 1: 18 pounds of muscle in nine months. How does that happen?
- 5:19Speaker 2: Honestly, it was an accident.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I want to live your life. If you say that's
- 5:25Speaker 1: an accident.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Cause when I got hurt, I was in a boot
- 5:28Speaker 2: so long where, you know, I'm not on two feet.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I was not on weight bearing and everything. So I'm like,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm not stepping on the scale, but what I could
- 5:34Speaker 2: do and shout out to my guy, coach and the
- 5:36Speaker 2: weight room, my dog. And we were together every single
- 5:39Speaker 2: day and he had perfect plan. Him and will put
- 5:40Speaker 2: together a plan where it was like, all right, well,
- 5:43Speaker 2: let's see how cut up you can get. So I'm,
- 5:45Speaker 2: push-ups sit-ups dumbbell press bench press overhead press sitting down
- 5:50Speaker 2: anything i can do sitting down upper body curls triceps
- 5:54Speaker 2: and even so much so to keep up my leg
- 5:57Speaker 2: and quad strength that's a big thing that you know
- 5:59Speaker 2: the atrophy piece of it like the look of it
- 6:02Speaker 2: um i would do leg extensions and and so crazy
- 6:04Speaker 2: i'm doing sets of 100 like just knocking them out
- 6:07Speaker 2: with my boot on so it's just and it's kind
- 6:09Speaker 2: of like where we have these jerseys called the yard
- 6:13Speaker 2: And me, Landon, Dorian Strong, and my boy, Wanda Owens,
- 6:16Speaker 2: we all kind of, that was our persona or our
- 6:18Speaker 2: mantra because that was our game day. So that's kind
- 6:20Speaker 2: of how it happened. And then one day, I get
- 6:23Speaker 2: out the boot. I go home, like, I should probably
- 6:25Speaker 2: step on the scale, you know, see where I'm at.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, it said, like, 333.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, no, that's, you know, that's
- 6:31Speaker 2: a little bit higher. Not even a little bit. It's
- 6:34Speaker 2: a lot higher than I've ever been. So, you know,
- 6:35Speaker 2: now we sit around, like, 322. But it was kind of,
- 6:38Speaker 2: I'm not going to say a shock. No, it definitely
- 6:41Speaker 2: actually was a shock.
- 6:41Speaker 1: It was a shock. Having the YAR t-shirts and kind
- 6:48Speaker 1: of having that mantra as you work out and do
- 6:52Speaker 1: the workouts that are, you know, push and pull. What
- 6:56Speaker 1: did you learn about your body in that?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's funny. It kind of brought me back
- 7:01Speaker 2: to my roots of college because I think where I
- 7:04Speaker 2: made a step in college was we had a coaching
- 7:06Speaker 2: change my junior year. In 2022, we had Mike Elko
- 7:10Speaker 2: come in. And for the longest, our only hires were
- 7:12Speaker 2: him and our strength coach, Coach David Philly. He's a maniac.
- 7:15Speaker 2: He's an animal. But it's kind of the same mentality
- 7:17Speaker 2: was you can do so much more than what your
- 7:21Speaker 2: brain tells you that you can do. Your body is
- 7:23Speaker 2: capable of so much more. You can push up and
- 7:24Speaker 2: do so many things once you break past that wall
- 7:26Speaker 2: or that barrier. And then once you do that, you
- 7:28Speaker 2: can do so much more. And that was kind of
- 7:30Speaker 2: the mentality of me coming through college my last couple
- 7:32Speaker 2: of years and getting to where I got from there. And,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know, I kind of get away from that a
- 7:36Speaker 2: little bit. It's a different type of strength program. You know,
- 7:38Speaker 2: we still work hard. Yeah. But it's just a lot
- 7:40Speaker 2: more money involved. Well, I guess nowadays kids are making millions.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So it might be a little bit different in college now,
- 7:45Speaker 2: but I know Coach Philly's still the same. But getting
- 7:48Speaker 2: back to that mentality of working through, you know, pushing
- 7:50Speaker 2: my body past limits and just knowing, like, all I
- 7:54Speaker 2: had right there was the weight room and I can
- 7:56Speaker 2: go and recover. I have time to recover. I can
- 7:58Speaker 2: eat well. Do what I need to do. So getting
- 8:01Speaker 2: back to the mentality and just, you know, that kind
- 8:03Speaker 2: of the mindset. I knew I had to come back because,
- 8:06Speaker 2: you know, year three. It's obviously a big year for
- 8:08Speaker 2: guys in the league. It'll be my third year here.
- 8:11Speaker 2: The way my career has gone with injuries so far,
- 8:13Speaker 2: it's like, listen, you've got to do everything possible to
- 8:16Speaker 2: be in the best shape physically, mentally, and spiritually. So
- 8:19Speaker 2: that was a big part of it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What is an example in your preparation and in your
- 8:24Speaker 1: recovery where your brain told you, Dwayne Carter, you cannot
- 8:29Speaker 1: do this, but you pushed through?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so like I said, we do a set of
- 8:33Speaker 2: 100 leg extensions. And I remember the first time we
- 8:36Speaker 2: ever did it, And Ann is, like I said, that's
- 8:39Speaker 2: my guy. He's been a rock since through all the
- 8:41Speaker 2: injury stuff here in the building. And I always say
- 8:45Speaker 2: strength coaches can't count because they're all insane. And so
- 8:48Speaker 2: that's the first thing we started doing. I think that
- 8:51Speaker 2: same day we did a set of planks. And he
- 8:52Speaker 2: was like, all right, we're going to do whatever sets
- 8:54Speaker 2: of 30 seconds. So I'm doing them. I'm kind of
- 8:57Speaker 2: just locked in. And I look up. He's nowhere to
- 9:00Speaker 2: be found. I'm like, where the heck did you go?
- 9:01Speaker 2: So I'm just I had been doing it for, I
- 9:03Speaker 2: don't know how long at that point.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Five minutes.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And I drop it. I'm like, dude, he's like, oh
- 9:07Speaker 2: my bad, you know. I forgot you were there. And
- 9:09Speaker 2: those mental years start turning like, you know, maybe that
- 9:11Speaker 2: wasn't so bad, right? So then we get the leg extensions.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And he's like, all right, we got like two by
- 9:15Speaker 2: a hundred or whatever. You know, obviously like, I don't
- 9:18Speaker 2: know if I can do a hundred straight. I don't
- 9:20Speaker 2: know if I can do a hundred straight. That automatically
- 9:22Speaker 2: goes to that negative space in your mind. So I
- 9:24Speaker 2: remember the first time I started doing sets, I'm like
- 9:26Speaker 2: set of 50 maybe. Then it would be 25 more,
- 9:28Speaker 2: 25 more. And then if something just clicks in the
- 9:31Speaker 2: competitor in me, I was like, You know what? Let's
- 9:34Speaker 2: hit 100. Like nothing is here stopping you. Like it's
- 9:36Speaker 2: not pain. You obviously got the 50. You stopped just fine.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So why aren't you maxing it out? So, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 2: I think I hit like maybe 80 or something before
- 9:43Speaker 2: I stopped. And then I was like, all right, that's better. Boom.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Knock out the next 20. And then we just start
- 9:48Speaker 2: compiling those exercises into push-ups, sit-ups, abs. Then, you know,
- 9:55Speaker 2: I'm 330 pounds at the time. I'm back on the
- 9:56Speaker 2: pull-up bar. So now it's like, all right, how many
- 9:58Speaker 2: pull-ups am I doing? and it's the mental block of
- 10:01Speaker 2: i'm heavy you know oh this hurts this hurts man
- 10:04Speaker 2: forget the hurt like you're okay it doesn't hurt you're
- 10:07Speaker 2: just building muscle you're recovering the right way and you
- 10:09Speaker 2: know that's eventually how we got up and no i
- 10:11Speaker 2: did not do 100 pull-ups i can't do that i
- 10:14Speaker 2: mean but push-ups and everything i could do that.
- 10:16Speaker 1: No but i'm back on the pull-up bar at 330
- 10:20Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yeah. So it was pretty cool because, you know, something
- 10:25Speaker 2: we did in college, and shout out to my head
- 10:27Speaker 2: strength coach in college, Coach Philly, because that was one
- 10:29Speaker 2: of the first things he did, too. He just put
- 10:30Speaker 2: us on a pull-up bar. And he was like, I
- 10:33Speaker 2: can't say the exact words he used in here because
- 10:35Speaker 2: the show would probably get canceled. But basically saying, like,
- 10:38Speaker 2: it's a shame that we're not doing pull-ups as big guys.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So that's kind of how that started. And then I
- 10:43Speaker 2: did heavy pull-downs on lateral pull-downs. And once I got
- 10:46Speaker 2: clear to, you know, be on my two feet, it
- 10:48Speaker 2: was like, Hey, let's get you on this pull-up bar.
- 10:50Speaker 2: This is real strength. And I know you got it
- 10:51Speaker 2: in you. And, you know, my friend's like, I don't know.
- 10:55Speaker 2: It's the same mental thing.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And you're like, you know what? You eventually say, forget it.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Let's do it. So that's where we're at.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Okay. Having that mindset of I can do pull-ups at 330,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I believe in myself. How are you taking that to
- 11:07Speaker 1: the field now?
- 11:09Speaker 2: It's just the mindset that if you can't beat you,
- 11:13Speaker 2: then nothing else can beat you. At the end of
- 11:14Speaker 2: the day, like if you have full control of your mind,
- 11:17Speaker 2: your brain, your body. Nothing else matters. Again, that's kind
- 11:21Speaker 2: of the mindset that we have. And, you know, it's
- 11:22Speaker 2: just we're the best in the world. That's what we think. And,
- 11:25Speaker 2: you know, I say it a lot. A lot of
- 11:26Speaker 2: guys say it a lot, especially you think about that
- 11:28Speaker 2: week one game at Houston. It comes down to we
- 11:31Speaker 2: got to get a stop, two-minute drive, two-minute drill against
- 11:33Speaker 2: the offense that's cooking at the moment. And it's like
- 11:35Speaker 2: there's nothing better. We're the best in the world. We
- 11:37Speaker 2: practice against the best guys in the world every single day.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We got the best quarterback in the league. We got
- 11:41Speaker 2: the best running back in the league, best receivers. Like,
- 11:43Speaker 2: we play against the best every single day. And that's
- 11:45Speaker 2: the mindset. It's like, If I'm practicing with these guys
- 11:47Speaker 2: and I'm making plays, I'm doing what I'm doing, but
- 11:49Speaker 2: at the same time, you know, sharpening the iron, there's
- 11:51Speaker 2: nobody else in the league that can stop us.
- 11:53Speaker 1: What a freeing way to approach this season. I can
- 11:56Speaker 1: feel the confidence oozing off of you right now, Dwayne.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I love where you're at right now.
- 12:01Speaker 2: In this season.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And you spoke about being out all of last year
- 12:05Speaker 1: without a killings injury, your rookie season on injured reserve
- 12:08Speaker 1: for five games as well. Why is this your coming
- 12:12Speaker 1: out year in the NFL?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Hey, you know, so... Big believer in the faith. I
- 12:16Speaker 2: believe in God and everything. And, you know, I believe
- 12:18Speaker 2: you got to go through some things to learn where
- 12:21Speaker 2: you're supposed to be at. Now, I would, you know,
- 12:24Speaker 2: much rather not, you know, just maybe sprain my pinky
- 12:26Speaker 2: or something. That would have been nice. But, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 2: going through at the time of my rookie year, I
- 12:33Speaker 2: was at a point, too, where I was, you know,
- 12:35Speaker 2: kind of on a good path, elevating, making a lot
- 12:37Speaker 2: of plays, playing a lot of snaps. Ended up getting
- 12:39Speaker 2: that wrist thing I had randomly out of nowhere. Okay, whatever.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Showed me a little bit, all right, maybe I have
- 12:44Speaker 2: a lot more to learn. And, you know, I kind
- 12:45Speaker 2: of take that as, you know, I was kind of
- 12:47Speaker 2: getting to where's my success coming from. Okay. And it's
- 12:50Speaker 2: just like, all right, oh, it's me. It's me. I'm
- 12:53Speaker 2: doing this. I knew I was going to do this.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I knew I was going to do this. Humble yourself. Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I humbled myself. Come back. Sit down the rest of
- 12:59Speaker 2: the year. And then same thing I was dealing with
- 13:01Speaker 2: my second year was, all right, you're coming in. Like, basically,
- 13:05Speaker 2: I know who I am. I know how good I am.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I know what I can do. This is what I'm
- 13:09Speaker 2: going to do. And this is what I'm focused on.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You know, honestly, the stuff that doesn't matter at the
- 13:15Speaker 2: end of the day. And, you know, God sat me
- 13:17Speaker 2: down again. And that's okay. Like I said, it's okay.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And I think I'm honestly grateful for it at this
- 13:21Speaker 2: point because through that, I mean, I'm a lot stronger.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I'm way better spiritually. At the time, I had just
- 13:28Speaker 2: married my wife a month or two before that. So
- 13:30Speaker 2: we got to spend a whole year together. Wow. We
- 13:32Speaker 2: forgot what marriage is. It's like all these silver linings, right? And,
- 13:35Speaker 2: you know, I still got to be around the building.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I didn't leave Orchard Park, which, you know, I saw
- 13:38Speaker 2: you guys every freaking day. besties so it's been cool
- 13:42Speaker 2: man to see how everything has transpired and I think
- 13:45Speaker 2: I'm so much smarter now honestly football wise you know
- 13:48Speaker 2: it's year three and you know you can say what
- 13:49Speaker 2: you want about how many games I've played or whatever
- 13:51Speaker 2: but I'm a third year player in this league and
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think it's.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Starting to show up I love that you're able to
- 13:57Speaker 1: see those silver linings through some really hard times how
- 14:00Speaker 1: mature of you three years in you're still so young
- 14:03Speaker 1: Dwayne but you're speaking veteran talk right now.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And that's what it is you know You know, God
- 14:08Speaker 2: is good. You know, I officially got bested as of
- 14:11Speaker 2: last week because it's two years, three games, whatever it was. So,
- 14:13Speaker 2: you know, best of it.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Let's go. He's a vet now. Your teammates have also
- 14:20Speaker 1: been balling out to start the season. Outside linebacker Greg
- 14:23Speaker 1: Russo is on an absolute heater. Six sacks in three games.
- 14:28Speaker 1: What's gotten into him?
- 14:29Speaker 2: I say best of the world. It's funny. He did
- 14:31Speaker 2: something in camp. He did like a rush that I'd
- 14:34Speaker 2: never seen him do. It was real early. And I swear, like,
- 14:37Speaker 2: true story, you can ask me, back it up. I
- 14:39Speaker 2: was like, I said, you're acting different this year. That's
- 14:41Speaker 2: literally what I said to him. Like, and this is
- 14:43Speaker 2: probably week one or two of camp. I was like,
- 14:45Speaker 2: you're acting different this year, dude. Like, and he just
- 14:47Speaker 2: started laughing. I mean, you know, Greg is kind of
- 14:49Speaker 2: goofy guy, chilling, laughing about it. He's like, all right, bro,
- 14:53Speaker 2: just chill, just chill. And like, now you see what
- 14:55Speaker 2: it is every single day. But at the end of
- 14:56Speaker 2: the day, he's been so good since he's been here
- 14:59Speaker 2: in the league as well. And he honestly doesn't get
- 15:01Speaker 2: the respect he deserves. And that's just cool for me
- 15:04Speaker 2: to see, like, I know how good he is. So
- 15:05Speaker 2: a lot of people around you know, Lee and, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 2: social or whatever else are like, Oh my gosh, where
- 15:10Speaker 2: did this come from? I'm like, Oh, I don't know
- 15:12Speaker 2: if it's where it just come from. You're just kind
- 15:13Speaker 2: of opening your eyes now.
- 15:15Speaker 1: You know it because you play on the defensive line,
- 15:18Speaker 1: but everybody's talking about one reason why we're so is
- 15:22Speaker 1: playing so well is because he's playing with his hand
- 15:24Speaker 1: up in a three, four defense. How does that open
- 15:29Speaker 1: things up for a player?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Especially for guys like him and his body type, right? Him, Chubb, Vaughn, Mike,
- 15:34Speaker 2: all those guys. It's like, they can see the game
- 15:37Speaker 2: because they have so much more responsibilities, whether it's coverage,
- 15:42Speaker 2: whether it's, you know, quarterback, running back, whether it's tight end,
- 15:44Speaker 2: seeing everything and being able to see actually what's going
- 15:48Speaker 2: on makes the difference. Because even in our position on
- 15:51Speaker 2: the interior, like if I'm in my stance and I
- 15:53Speaker 2: can actually see different sets and who's actually in the game,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I mean, it makes a world of a difference. So
- 15:59Speaker 2: I think that's why, you know, the conversations guys are
- 16:02Speaker 2: playing a lot faster and more free on the edge
- 16:04Speaker 2: because you actually know what's coming. Because in your stance,
- 16:07Speaker 2: if you're hitting the ground, you know, you're coming up.
- 16:09Speaker 2: First thing you got to look is, all right, what's
- 16:10Speaker 2: in front of me?
- 16:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And actually process. But instead, you're in a two-point stance,
- 16:14Speaker 2: you can kind of gauge it. You can see what's
- 16:16Speaker 2: going on. You can see the play clock coming down.
- 16:18Speaker 2: You can see what's kind of going on and picture
- 16:20Speaker 2: those things before they happen. And all those things that
- 16:23Speaker 2: we practice because, you know, our coach is so good.
- 16:25Speaker 2: We literally put in every single situation, scenario that we
- 16:27Speaker 2: can be during the week. So I know for that,
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mean, they're seeing that right away and going. And
- 16:32Speaker 2: it helps us play faster on the inside as well.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Rousseau has length at 6'7. He's got long arms. He
- 16:38Speaker 1: wins a lot with that tough arm, just holding an
- 16:42Speaker 1: offensive lineman off. How impossible is that to stop?
- 16:47Speaker 2: So, you know, Greg, I'm lucky. In our D-line room,
- 16:51Speaker 2: deep in the room, I said we have two unicorns
- 16:54Speaker 2: that were born on third base in the genetics library,
- 16:56Speaker 2: the lottery, and that's Dion Walker and Greg Rousseau. So
- 17:00Speaker 2: they're so athletic. And they're both like 6'8, or whatever
- 17:03Speaker 2: it is, with a 100-foot wingspan.
- 17:05Speaker 1: A 100-foot wingspan.
- 17:06Speaker 2: And, you know, the hardest thing for an offensive lineman,
- 17:08Speaker 2: I've never played a line, well, since high school, I
- 17:10Speaker 2: would imagine is if you can't touch anybody, you probably
- 17:13Speaker 2: can't block them. So you talk about Greg being at
- 17:16Speaker 2: a two-point stance now, it's so much easier for him
- 17:18Speaker 2: to get that arm inside somebody's chest, and he's so
- 17:21Speaker 2: strong and powerful, he's just going to walk them back.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Because I don't care how big or strong somebody else is.
- 17:26Speaker 2: If you can hit, like, in the right spot, underneath
- 17:28Speaker 2: your armpit, wherever it is, you're going to naturally tip.
- 17:30Speaker 2: especially when the guy across from you is, you know,
- 17:32Speaker 2: freaking nature. So, I mean, he knows who he is
- 17:36Speaker 2: as a rusher. He knows his body very well. And,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I mean, it's just been really cool to see.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yes, I'm so happy for him. I spoke with him
- 17:43Speaker 1: earlier in the offseason. He said my goal is to
- 17:45Speaker 1: get to 10. I know he sniffed 10 in a
- 17:48Speaker 1: couple of seasons. And to see him be well on
- 17:51Speaker 1: his way to that number is so awesome. The other thing, though,
- 17:56Speaker 1: is everybody's saying Russo's done a fantastic job in the
- 17:59Speaker 1: run game. What is he doing in the run game
- 18:02Speaker 1: that you're saying is an interior defensive lineman like, wow,
- 18:06Speaker 1: he's got it.
- 18:07Speaker 2: So it's like prime example last week, the Chargers game.
- 18:10Speaker 2: We knew their big perimeter run team with 34 was
- 18:11Speaker 2: in the game. We just knew that. And it was
- 18:14Speaker 2: on film or even they want to attack the perimeter.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It was going to be outside regardless. So we knew
- 18:19Speaker 2: we had to set an edge. So it's a big
- 18:20Speaker 2: responsibility on not only us inside, but the outside. So
- 18:24Speaker 2: I think of a play actually me and Greg were
- 18:25Speaker 2: running together. He'd run that stretch player, jet sweep, whatever
- 18:29Speaker 2: it was. And you kind of look out. Obviously, I
- 18:32Speaker 2: don't see this on the field because I'm playing. But
- 18:34Speaker 2: he takes two guys because it's funny because his natural
- 18:38Speaker 2: blocker is straight up in front of him. So his
- 18:40Speaker 2: job is to run through him and basically knock him
- 18:42Speaker 2: back as far back as he can go, going straight
- 18:44Speaker 2: radically back, which he did that. But then the puller
- 18:47Speaker 2: is coming around to pick up our linebackers, whoever else
- 18:50Speaker 2: shows up, our safeties, whatever it may be. I mean,
- 18:52Speaker 2: he knocks off the puller as well, whether it's intentional
- 18:55Speaker 2: or unintentional. But when you do your job, you're supposed
- 18:57Speaker 2: to do things like that happen. And you see TB. Dorian, Cole, D, CJ,
- 19:03Speaker 2: whoever it is, flying over the top untouched, knocking down
- 19:06Speaker 2: the backfield. It's like, that's what defense is supposed to
- 19:08Speaker 2: look like. I mean, it's a beautiful thing to look like.
- 19:10Speaker 2: You know, I come on the back in a little bit,
- 19:11Speaker 2: but those guys beat me there.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You spoke about Deion Walker, too. Deion has had an
- 19:17Speaker 1: awesome start to the season as well. How does playing
- 19:20Speaker 1: next to him open things up for you?
- 19:23Speaker 2: It's been cool. It's been really cool because, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 2: I didn't get to play any games with, you know, him, TJ,
- 19:27Speaker 2: and Landon last year. And, you know, we're all pretty cool, so.
- 19:29Speaker 2: being out there with them and, you know, the start
- 19:31Speaker 2: he's had has been unbelievable. And the cool part about
- 19:34Speaker 2: that for me is, you know, being a guy who really,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I wasn't here last year or on the field last year,
- 19:39Speaker 2: excuse me. So it was like, all right, he came
- 19:41Speaker 2: off hot. So I'm going to get a lot more
- 19:43Speaker 2: one-on-ones naturally. And it's kind of worked in my favor.
- 19:46Speaker 2: It allowed me to make some plays.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Man, the defensive line overall, you guys are top. two
- 19:50Speaker 1: in quarterback hits to start the season. What are you
- 19:53Speaker 1: most proud of playing with these guys?
- 19:55Speaker 2: I think the way we play together, right? In our room,
- 19:58Speaker 2: there's no egos. It's not like, just, you know, so-and-so,
- 20:01Speaker 2: I should be doing this, I should be doing this.
- 20:03Speaker 2: We're a real team. And even, I think a prime
- 20:07Speaker 2: example of it is– Two weeks ago now, we played
- 20:11Speaker 2: the Lions. Everybody talked about the game that me and
- 20:13Speaker 2: Deion ran where I kind of picked the center. Yes.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Deion came around.
- 20:16Speaker 1: That was awesome.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Well, a big part of that too as well was
- 20:19Speaker 2: we kind of told Chubb and Greg, mind you, these
- 20:21Speaker 2: are like two solidified vets, like elite players in the league, like, hey,
- 20:24Speaker 2: we need you guys to do this. It's like they're
- 20:28Speaker 2: telling you, hey, this is what we need to do.
- 20:31Speaker 2: And the guys being there, they could have been like, man,
- 20:33Speaker 2: these young dudes, man, shut up. We're going to do
- 20:35Speaker 2: what we want, right? And they're like, all right, you
- 20:37Speaker 2: know what? We got you. And then, you know, we
- 20:40Speaker 2: obviously see what that play came to be. That's just
- 20:42Speaker 2: a prime example of the type of guys we have.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And that's what, you know, I'm most proud of being
- 20:45Speaker 2: a part of a real team, real brotherhood, real friendship.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I think that's really cool, too. And I think it
- 20:50Speaker 2: shows in the way we play the chemistry and how
- 20:52Speaker 2: we kind of just fit off each other and the communication.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I mean, it's really cool.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It is really cool. And I cannot wait for what's
- 20:59Speaker 1: about to unfold because this is just the beginning. But
- 21:03Speaker 1: I also want to get into some fun stuff. Fat
- 21:04Speaker 1: Boy Friday's. If you guys don't know about it, Dwayne
- 21:07Speaker 1: Carter started this, what, was it a year and a
- 21:09Speaker 1: half ago?
- 21:10Speaker 2: This was Memorial Day last year.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Last year.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so a little.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so like a year and a half almost.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, a year and a half ago. Okay.
- 21:16Speaker 1: So Fridays, follow this guy on social media because you're
- 21:20Speaker 1: going to get some awesome recipes thrown your way, cooked
- 21:24Speaker 1: by yours truly over here.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:28Speaker 1: How did it come together and what has it turned
- 21:30Speaker 1: into now?
- 21:31Speaker 2: So I tell everybody, it's kind of funny. It started
- 21:33Speaker 2: as a joke. Me being, you know, I like social media.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I post, do all that. Yeah. So Memorial Day last year,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I told my wife, I said, babe, today I'm going
- 21:42Speaker 2: to be a man. I'm going to go to the store.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm going to be a man.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Get steaks, burgers, hot dogs, whatever it was. I was like,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I'm going to grill. And we just moved into a
- 21:51Speaker 2: new house around here. So I was like, it's the
- 21:53Speaker 2: perfect time to bring out the grill. And I was like,
- 21:56Speaker 2: you know what? Let me record this. I need to
- 21:57Speaker 2: document this. One, you'll get some feedback from some of
- 22:00Speaker 2: the guys I know who do grill and cook. But two, like,
- 22:03Speaker 2: all right, just throw it up. I hadn't posted in
- 22:04Speaker 2: a while. Let's see what comes of it. And sure enough,
- 22:08Speaker 2: I think it did like 30,000 views. The first video
- 22:10Speaker 2: I posted with my little terrible cap cut edits and everything.
- 22:13Speaker 2: And I was like, all right, let's see where it goes.
- 22:15Speaker 2: And now here we are. We got t-shirts, sweatshirts. Just
- 22:18Speaker 2: did my first like sponsored post. So I got a deal.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Wow.
- 22:22Speaker 2: And a couple of different deals that come in the works.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So it's been pretty cool.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Very cool. What's the favorite recipe you've cooked thus far?
- 22:30Speaker 2: It's very hard. It's very hard, but I think good ones.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I think last year I made a chicken pot pie
- 22:38Speaker 2: and that was pretty cool because I had never like
- 22:39Speaker 2: baked anything. I usually, you know, I'm grill, stove top,
- 22:42Speaker 2: all the simple things. I was like, I'm going to
- 22:44Speaker 2: make a pot pie for whatever reason. I think I
- 22:46Speaker 2: saw it on TikTok. I was like, I can do this.
- 22:48Speaker 2: So I made chicken pot pie, but the top crust
- 22:50Speaker 2: was a red lobster, like cheddar bay biscuits, whatever they're called.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 22:55Speaker 2: And I made the biscuits from scratch. I had never baked.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I never did. I didn't, no, I didn't do any
- 23:01Speaker 2: of this. So that was my first time doing it.
- 23:03Speaker 2: And it turned out, elite like the filling was pretty
- 23:06Speaker 2: easy to make um i could just get the pie
- 23:08Speaker 2: crust to cover the pan and the biscuits were actually
- 23:11Speaker 2: pretty easy i just didn't account for you know i
- 23:14Speaker 2: bred uh expands yes i forgot that so i covered
- 23:20Speaker 2: the whole thing like way too much on top of
- 23:23Speaker 2: the pot pie and i threw it in the oven
- 23:26Speaker 2: and i was like it smells like something's burning oh
- 23:28Speaker 2: no and so i pulled the oven open real fast
- 23:31Speaker 2: and see the thing expanding over the top over the
- 23:33Speaker 2: side like it was perfect perfectly cooked, but it was
- 23:35Speaker 2: just too much bread. So that's my only negative, but
- 23:37Speaker 2: I mean, it was, that was the best thing I made.
- 23:38Speaker 1: There's no such thing as too much biscuit. Oh no.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Dwayne. Especially, especially not the bread.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Okay. How are you testing yourself this year? What's, what's
- 23:47Speaker 1: on the docket? What do you want to do?
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah. So we're, I mean, just keep expanding and growing.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I think it's been pretty cool to have like a plan. Um,
- 23:54Speaker 2: cause I kind of was winging it last year. So
- 23:57Speaker 2: kind of a plan going into, all right, what days
- 23:59Speaker 2: do I cook? Whether it's, you know, Tuesday off day
- 24:01Speaker 2: or Friday afternoon, whatever it may be. Also, New merch line,
- 24:05Speaker 2: new designs.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Ooh, some new Fat Boy Friday shirts.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I want to do some collabs, so shout out. Let
- 24:12Speaker 2: me do the shout outs right now.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Chef Cuso, hit me up. I'm going to hit you up.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Maddie Matheson, Canadian brother over there. He has some food
- 24:21Speaker 2: in the stadium, I think.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Too, right?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Yeah. I think, yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Have you been to Rizzo's yet?
- 24:24Speaker 2: House of Harm? That's one place I haven't gone.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh, you got to go, man. It's like right across
- 24:28Speaker 1: the border in Crystal Beach.
- 24:29Speaker 2: So I'm going to go. I'm going to go there.
- 24:31Speaker 2: All right, that's something I'm going to do. So Maddie Matheson.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Who else? All these other people, you know, just anytime.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Sorry, back to the beginning. No, no.
- 24:40Speaker 1: There's some great people to collab with in Buffalo. Speaking
- 24:42Speaker 1: of collabs, who are some of the best chefs on
- 24:46Speaker 1: the team?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Man, I got to shout out, you know, Ray Davis.
- 24:49Speaker 2: You know, that's my dog. Every time we do a video,
- 24:52Speaker 2: numbers go through the roof.
- 24:54Speaker 1: With Ray?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yes, go through the roof. And Ray has improved.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I remember last year he was talking to me about, like,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm going to try and make ranch, but I don't
- 25:02Speaker 1: really know how that's going to go. It's a little
- 25:04Speaker 1: bit scary.
- 25:05Speaker 2: He has improved. When we first started, he was like,
- 25:08Speaker 2: I'm not cooking it. I'm kind of here for the vibes.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And now, last time we did a pasta, last time
- 25:15Speaker 2: we did a whole pasta sauce. It's pretty good. We've
- 25:18Speaker 2: done so many different things. Ray is like my partner
- 25:21Speaker 2: in crime when it comes to that stuff. Love it.
- 25:23Speaker 2: We even did a chicken wing sauce competition. And Ray
- 25:26Speaker 2: pulled up. He did not make a chicken wing sauce,
- 25:28Speaker 2: but he did bring Paula's Donuts. So that was pretty cool.
- 25:31Speaker 2: And I think he just did a collab with them
- 25:32Speaker 2: as well.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Nice.
- 25:33Speaker 2: So I got to go see Paul's too and see
- 25:35Speaker 2: if we can do a collab. Okay.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Ray, who else?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Ray, Mike Hoyt. We had a great one. He's elite.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Mike did, like, the whole KitchenAid pasta thing. Like, very serious.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I mean, you know Mike. He's a very Ivy League guy.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Very smart. Very calculating the way he does things. And
- 25:52Speaker 2: his cooking, the same way. Very good. Osiris, my boy Saibo.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Saibo.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Saibo throws down. Like, we're Louisiana, Creole, like. That guy's elite.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Who else have I done with? Reed Ferguson. My dog Reed.
- 26:06Speaker 2: We've never collabed yet, which is crazy. But all we
- 26:08Speaker 2: talk about is cooking.
- 26:09Speaker 1: You've got to.
- 26:10Speaker 2: So shout out Reed and his Grills Mafia Q42 people,
- 26:12Speaker 2: all my people over here. I mean, the list goes on.
- 26:15Speaker 2: We've got a lot of talented guys over here.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Yeah, there are. You're rocking the Vey apparel. Speaking of clothes,
- 26:21Speaker 1: we wanted to hit the best fits from week three.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Shout out Ty.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Who did you like there? Which outfits did you enjoy
- 26:30Speaker 1: as they walked into the stadium?
- 26:32Speaker 2: Like I said, you know, first off, I'm not going
- 26:34Speaker 2: to include me, but I did like my sweatsuit this week.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It was blue, top and bottom, comfy, cozy, stylish. And
- 26:44Speaker 1: your brother, Zane Durant, also did blue top, blue bottom, comfy, cozy.
- 26:50Speaker 1: You guys were twins.
- 26:51Speaker 2: It was unplanned.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Unplanned.
- 26:52Speaker 2: It was unplanned. So that was pretty cool, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 2: to start the day off. But, you know, we got
- 26:57Speaker 2: a lot of strong dressers. So I'm going to start
- 26:59Speaker 2: off with IGB. He had the red leather jacket, like
- 27:05Speaker 2: the denim, like flare type of jeans with the Louis
- 27:07Speaker 2: V belt, Louis V duffel bag, and he had the
- 27:10Speaker 2: Louis V shoes on.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Ooh, yep.
- 27:12Speaker 2: So that's a strong.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Rocking and rolling.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Strong, strong start. And then he went out there and
- 27:17Speaker 2: bought out. True. So you look good, you feel good,
- 27:20Speaker 2: you feel good, you play good. Prime example. I think
- 27:23Speaker 2: IGB was one. Travis Clayton, the Englishman, my boy from London,
- 27:28Speaker 2: he had the Stranger Things hockey jersey. I had never
- 27:32Speaker 2: seen it in the leap piece. I think that was definitely,
- 27:35Speaker 2: I throw him up there. Yeah, it was cool. And
- 27:37Speaker 2: then we had, who was our last one?
- 27:38Speaker 1: Tight End.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Tight End, Dalton Kincaid. Y'all know him, y'all love him.
- 27:44Speaker 2: King of the aura right there. He had the denim checkered.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Yeah, denim checkered fit, top and bottom matching.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Two-piece set. And I love a good two-piece set.
- 27:53Speaker 1: And he had the shades on walking in, too, with
- 27:54Speaker 1: the little chain.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And I always tell him, he has all the aura.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I tell him that every single day. So that just
- 27:59Speaker 2: added to it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: What is Dalton Kincaid's aura?
- 28:02Speaker 2: It's just there.
- 28:03Speaker 1: It's just there.
- 28:04Speaker 2: It's just there. Every time I'm at, you know, being
- 28:06Speaker 2: an event in public and I'm around him, it's just
- 28:07Speaker 2: the aura.
- 28:08Speaker 1: The aura.
- 28:09Speaker 2: All the 86 jerseys around. It's just the aura.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Everybody loves Dalton.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Everybody loves DK, man.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Man, he's balling out, too.
- 28:15Speaker 2: He is.
- 28:16Speaker 1: So many guys balling out to start the season. Okay,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I wanted to finish off with some fun rapid-fire questions.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Oh, gosh.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Game week. Think about a game week. What's the most
- 28:27Speaker 1: important day for you in a game week?
- 28:32Speaker 2: Sitting very rapid fire. I'm going slow. It's okay. It
- 28:36Speaker 2: can be slow fire. Tuesday or Friday. Why?
- 28:39Speaker 1: What happens on those days?
- 28:41Speaker 2: Recovery days. It's been huge for me in my routine,
- 28:43Speaker 2: especially when I go to the player. Those are massage days,
- 28:45Speaker 2: needling days, mental health days. Anything I need, those are
- 28:50Speaker 2: key for me.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And you're a massage guy?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yes. Oh, Friday's also a haircut day.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Oh, a haircut.
- 28:55Speaker 2: That's why I got this hat on right now. It's
- 28:57Speaker 2: been a while, but I'll be back next Friday.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I love it. I said Dwayne Carter gets a couple
- 29:02Speaker 1: spa days a week.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yes, very much so.
- 29:04Speaker 1: That's what you have to do as an NFL athlete, though.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Treat yourself.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You've got to treat yourself so you can get ready
- 29:09Speaker 1: on Sunday.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:10Speaker 1: What's a hidden talent?
- 29:13Speaker 2: I can juggle.
- 29:14Speaker 1: You can juggle.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I can juggle. I don't know if this is talent,
- 29:17Speaker 2: but I know a lot of Disney songs.
- 29:22Speaker 1: What's your favorite Disney song?
- 29:23Speaker 2: It comes from all the, well, probably Camp Rock 2.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Have you seen that movie?
- 29:29Speaker 1: I don't think so. I've seen Camp Rock 1, though.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Listen.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Which song?
- 29:34Speaker 2: Camp Rock 2. Nick Jonas is singing to Demi Lovato.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Her name is Mitchie in the show or in the movie.
- 29:44Speaker 2: And Demi was like, Oh, you know, I don't know
- 29:47Speaker 2: anything about you. This at a third. You're just like
- 29:50Speaker 2: some Hollywood guy. Like says dude comes out of nowhere.
- 29:54Speaker 2: He's a guitar. And they're walking to, I guess, class.
- 29:57Speaker 2: It'd be a camp or whatever. And it's called Introducing Me.
- 30:00Speaker 2: And it gives her the whole rundown about everything he likes,
- 30:03Speaker 2: what he doesn't like. And that's like my peak song.
- 30:07Speaker 2: There's a lot of close seconds, but that's like my go-to.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Do you want to sing a couple lines for the class? La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- 30:15Speaker 2: It's kind of fast, though. It's like the chorus. I
- 30:21Speaker 2: sing my favorite part. Okay. Yes. He's like, I've never
- 30:27Speaker 2: trusted a dog to wash my food. And I like
- 30:29Speaker 2: to use the word dude as an ad or an
- 30:32Speaker 2: advert or an adjective. And I never really been into cars.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I like really cool guitars and superheroes. It takes for
- 30:39Speaker 2: lots of zeros on them. I love the sound of
- 30:42Speaker 2: violence and making someone smile. If you want to know,
- 30:51Speaker 2: here it goes. Let's see. I'm going to keep going.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I got to stop. I got to stop.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 30:53Speaker 2: That's really my song. I love that song. Take a bow.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Take a bow. That was so good.
- 30:58Speaker 2: So Nick Jonas, when you see this. Pull up, man.
- 31:00Speaker 2: New stage is pretty cool.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Collab with Dwayne. He wants to cook with you.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Let's collab. Fatboy Friday.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And sing with you.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Singing edition.
- 31:06Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:08Speaker 1: That was so great.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:10Speaker 1: If you could go pro in something else, what would
- 31:12Speaker 1: it be?
- 31:12Speaker 2: Baseball.
- 31:13Speaker 1: That was very quick. Baseball.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Honestly, baseball was my first love.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I thought you were going to say singing or cooking.
- 31:17Speaker 2: That'd be cool too, but baseball. Honestly, baseball was my
- 31:21Speaker 2: favorite sport. What position did you play? First baseman, catcher. Nice.
- 31:25Speaker 2: And fun fact, not a lot of people know, I
- 31:26Speaker 2: was supposed to play both sports at Duke. Okay. And?
- 31:29Speaker 2: And my freshman year was COVID. I had a red
- 31:31Speaker 2: shirt for football. Baseball team was really good. I was
- 31:34Speaker 2: going to red shirt for them, too. The world gets
- 31:35Speaker 2: shut down. And I was like, well, behind developmentally in everything.
- 31:40Speaker 2: So I got to pick one. And, you know, I
- 31:42Speaker 2: pick where the scholarship money is.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Well, you picked right, Dwayne, because you're playing in the NFL.
- 31:48Speaker 1: A little birdie told me you enjoy reality TV.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 1: What shows are you watching?
- 31:56Speaker 2: So this is my wife's fault.
- 31:58Speaker 1: We love you, Amanda.
- 31:59Speaker 2: This is my wife's fault. We watched the Love Islands.
- 32:02Speaker 2: We watched the Married at First Sight. Love is Blind.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Age of Attraction. What's the other one I'm missing? We
- 32:12Speaker 2: just watched it. Oh, The Ultimatum. The Ultimatum is another one.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Watch that one. But basically, you know, Love Island is
- 32:22Speaker 2: kind of like a viral thing. Love is Blind is
- 32:24Speaker 2: somewhat viral. But she just loves him.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And you love her.
- 32:29Speaker 2: And I love her. And now I love them as well.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Happy wife, happy life.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Happy wife, happy life. Wow.
- 32:34Speaker 1: What's your favorite one? Which one do you actually sit
- 32:37Speaker 1: down and you're like.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Okay, I'm down. Oh, Temptation Island 2. That's another one.
- 32:40Speaker 2: That's a crazy one. That's a crazy one.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Any favorite characters on these shows?
- 32:43Speaker 2: So actually, Temptation Island, the cast last, this past season,
- 32:47Speaker 2: they just dropped. There's a guy named Mikey on there.
- 32:50Speaker 2: And we actually grew up around the same area. No way.
- 32:52Speaker 2: So we kind of know each other. So he was
- 32:54Speaker 2: on the show. That was pretty crazy. But I think
- 32:57Speaker 2: my favorite one is either It was Love Island, but
- 32:59Speaker 2: last season irritated me. So, I'm going to go Age
- 33:05Speaker 2: of Attraction because I just think it's so funny.
- 33:07Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I just think it's hilarious. These people are like, I'm
- 33:10Speaker 2: not going to say delusional, but they'll look at somebody
- 33:13Speaker 2: and somebody looks like they're 56 years old and they're like, well,
- 33:16Speaker 2: what's your age? You'd be like, I'm 60. No way.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And I'm like, all right. Maybe I'm delusional. I don't know.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But you're watching it.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I am watching it. I watch it faithfully.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Dwayne, we love it. Thanks for sitting down with us
- 33:31Speaker 1: and talking us through the defensive line start of the season,
- 33:34Speaker 1: some food, and some singing. What else could we ask for?
- 33:37Speaker 1: This was the perfect episode.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Nothing else. I appreciate you having me. Yeah, of course.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Come back anytime. Maybe with Ray. We'll do the three
- 33:46Speaker 1: of us. That would be fun.
- 33:46Speaker 2: We might be here for a couple hours.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Okay. Just yapping away.
- 33:49Speaker 2: So block it off.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Sounds good. All right. Stay tuned for more Inside the
- 33:53Speaker 1: Charge episodes.
