- 0:21Dr. Slaton Live: 3 reasons why you should subscribe to the Brains Body Podcast 1.
- 0:26Dr. Slaton Live: Because we believe that children are investments.
- 0:30Dr. Slaton Live: 2.
- 0:31Dr. Slaton Live: Because we believe that a family is a business.
- 0:36Dr. Slaton Live: 3.
- 0:37Dr. Slaton Live: Because we believe that a community is a place to practice.
- 0:41Dr. Slaton Live: All the research and all the science and the events and activities that we speak through have been acquired through hands-on experiences with children and parents on the front lines moving through the crises of home, homeschool, neighborhood, and workplace networks that had not been set up for them to experience Right.
- 1:08Dr. Slaton Live: So, I'm talking about the experience of entering into relationships that you have not been prepared for.
- 1:18Dr. Slaton Live: And the four things I always talk about on the mental health level is, if you're not prepared to experience contact, then it impacts your ability to interact, and if you cannot interact, then it affects the way you cooperate.
- 1:36Dr. Slaton Live: So many people have to learn how to relearn to cooperate because they didn't know what they thought they knew how to do, which is cooperate.
- 1:45Dr. Slaton Live: In order to cooperate, you got to move through the contact long enough to experience that other person's affect, that emotion or that thought, and then you have the capacity to comprehend the experience itself.
- 2:05Dr. Slaton Live: Because that's the experience, the interaction, the processing, the brain, the body, the sense of events that I'm always talking you through, and so I say that because I've always built my projects based on those three things.
- 2:21Dr. Slaton Live: So, children who come to me for help.
- 2:24Dr. Slaton Live: A ll their learning plans are designed to prepare them for the workplace.
- 2:28Dr. Slaton Live: Parents that come to me for help everything I do with those parents and adults, current consultants and others is prepare them for the business place Okay.
- 2:43Dr. Slaton Live: And the business places the economy, family, education, government, business systems right.
- 2:50Dr. Slaton Live: And that's how that third piece comes together, because we're talking about community-based learning and so everybody is involved in economic development.
- 3:02Dr. Slaton Live: So every child, youth and young adult is learning how to earn a living through service learning and internships that are based upon their real experiences in homeschool, neighborhood, workplace events.
- 3:20Dr. Slaton Live: So their participation is qualified through their practice of moving through contact at home, interaction in school cooperation, neighborhood and responding in the workplace, because they're in the project and they are the livers of the experience of the event itself, along with professional development and other elements of the community-building stakeholders and others when I'm speaking through.
- 3:56Dr. Slaton Live: So it's very, very intricate and I thought that I would do the intro today.
- 4:01Sandra: Welcome to the Brain's Body podcast Hosted by Dr Christopher K Slaton, author of Education and Science, save Our Youth Up to improve California's public schools with community-based learning for children, youths and young adults and human systems.
- 4:19Sandra: Science for parents, teachers and health and human service professionals.
- 4:23Sandra: Featuring the Dr Slaton Live series and the 2011-2012 Merced Building Human Assets project.
- 4:31Sandra: The ultimate experience when you can lead a child, youth or young adult who is in crisis because he or she resists contact and may be upset at how they feel things, to interact with you, to learn how to receive your contact and to process the way you interact.
- 4:47Sandra: There comes a point in the experiences of contact that you may grow to be the experience he or she felt as co-action that informs self and others through signs of care.
- 4:59Sandra: This could be a parent, teacher, mentor or health and human service professional.
- 5:03Sandra: The goal is to lead a child, youth or young adult to learn how to use the environments of home, school, neighborhood and workplace situations.
- 5:12Sandra: Learning through the study of self, other people and the environment.
- 5:17Sandra: Ways to live in a home that has been upset.
- 5:19Sandra: Learning how to learn in a school that spreads hurt and sadness.
- 5:22Sandra: Learning how to think in a neighborhood that practices teasing and bullying and learning how to respond in a workplace lacking the skill sets to fit in.
- 5:32Dr. Slaton Live: Thank you Now you heard that here Subscribe.
- 5:42Dr. Slaton Live: But let's go a step further.
- 5:44Dr. Slaton Live: Just to tell you about care.
- 5:46Dr. Slaton Live: I'm not trying to sell anything.
- 5:48Dr. Slaton Live: I'm saying to you that building human assets is a caring process cycle, because everything you're trying to do is to connect this is her sense and receive path to information flow that allows them to experience you in the experience of themselves and realize that they are the experience and that they can learn if you accept their contact.
- 6:18Dr. Slaton Live: Because in that same action is them accepting your contact and then learning in a co-active way that's less threatening, because they're studying you and you're studying them and you're both moving through the hurt and the sadness simultaneously.
- 6:42Dr. Slaton Live: Right, and so the reason why it's easier to get them to buy in Building a sense of community.
- 6:52Sandra: The vision building human assets.
- 6:54Sandra: Recruit people that you can motivate to learn with you in the lead how to live each day, to become more informed.
- 7:01Sandra: What makes a project unique is the process to grow, a sense of feel for the interplay between self, team members and clients that inspires leaders and people who want to learn how to become leaders.
- 7:13Sandra: I start with an operational plan that will help to create innovative ways for contact to evolve through experiences, to learn, think and respond to clear goals and objectives.
- 7:23Sandra: Experience, such as a physical work plan that details the desired goals and outcomes team members, clients and stakeholders will interact through to create and share knowledge.
- 7:35Sandra: Knowledge, participant based execution processes that designates the acts and practices that you can shape through your co-action, cooperation and flow of personal growth and professional treatment.
- 7:49Sandra: The building human assets project is a learning by doing process.
- 7:52Sandra: All participants will move through acts to perform and experience what they are being prepared to practice and service to self and others.
- 8:00Sandra: There are checks and balances at each stage of the project to assess the way people feel and think their way through, such as the way a person makes contact to interact, cooperate and may choose to participate in work to meet project goals or objectives.
- 8:17Sandra: Care the synthesis of feelings of thought, moves throughout the planning process.
- 8:20Sandra: Thinking things through signs of care is all about optimizing the experience of services to self and others.
- 8:28Sandra: A human asset is the result of learning how to perform through co-action from the experience of experiencing these experiences.
- 8:36Sandra: Scope each stage has its own real world timelines, such as home, school, neighborhood or workplace improvement plans.
- 8:46Sandra: The process is to learn how to live, learn, think and respond in each situation Serve, grow and practice.
- 9:01Dr. Slaton Live: To learn more, visit thebrainsbodynet.
- 9:05Dr. Slaton Live: And when you get on that platform, you have several experiences to move through.
- 9:15Dr. Slaton Live: That helps you understand what we're talking about, because this is a learning crisis and we have to approach it utilizing science and education right.
- 9:29Dr. Slaton Live: And when you're doing that, what you're actually building is a progressive human cognitive behavior model, right?
- 9:40Dr. Slaton Live: So now it's not about program but it is about discipline.
- 9:44Dr. Slaton Live: It is about controlling your body, but it's also about process understanding how your brain functions when it's under stress and when you begin to change and evolve out of a mood or a mind state.
- 10:01Dr. Slaton Live: The experience that you move through that you share with other people.
- 10:09Dr. Slaton Live: Notice those people who don't feel human, who get caught up because they can't change what they think they are, because they are so upset that it's difficult for them to move from the social, cognitive to the inner processing right Of neurophysics, the brain, the body and the senses as a human system that changes and evolves with the experience, right.
- 10:45Dr. Slaton Live: So you don't have to be mean as we.
- 10:47Dr. Slaton Live: Forever is what I'm saying.
- 10:48Dr. Slaton Live: I'm not aiming at anyone.
- 10:50Dr. Slaton Live: I'm saying the practice of understanding human development.
- 10:54Dr. Slaton Live: We have good days and bad days and we're supposed to move through them and not stay the same is what I'm saying.
- 11:01Dr. Slaton Live: You're caught up in your anger, you're caught up in your frustration.
- 11:04Dr. Slaton Live: You move through those events because you're studying the human cognitive and behavioral aspects of identity formation, but through a sense of feel for self in the brain, in the lead of the body, right.
- 11:21Dr. Slaton Live: And so the projects are all designed so that everybody enters the project, no matter what field you're moving through.
- 11:29Dr. Slaton Live: It compliments what you're trying to do Improve service, improve the ability of others to follow your service and understand the service you're offering so that they can accept your help.
- 11:41Dr. Slaton Live: But you have a process cycle to help them accept your help, even if you're a behaviorist, because what you're teaching them is how to process your contact right, so that it's easier for them to listen, it's easier for them to observe, it's easier for them to accept your interaction with you in the lead right, and they then following because they choose to, because you show respect for their brain's body, because they're trying to process with you, even if they're not equipped.
- 12:21Dr. Slaton Live: See, that's why we said people, children, get to the workplace and they lack the skill sets so they don't have a sense of feel for the environment, so they're not there very long because they don't feel safe, they know that they don't have the adequate skill sets to actually be inside that seat, so it alienates them from the inside out.
- 12:45Dr. Slaton Live: So they take flight, they isolate, they withdraw, right.
- 12:52Dr. Slaton Live: And so what I'm saying to you is we're now in the 21st century, we're digital, and now we're seeing it because now it's coming out as mental health issues.
- 13:03Dr. Slaton Live: We have people who are moving through the system but do not know how to interact, but do not know how to cooperate, but do not know how to participate, and we measure everything in our society.
- 13:16Dr. Slaton Live: So I'm going to stop there, because the Building Human Assets Project is simply this we got to build assets in these projects that we call community building, and it has to be through signs of care, because that's what's missing signs of thought, well thought out actions that lead to co-action before the client even realizes it.
- 13:44Dr. Slaton Live: They are leading the action because you gave them a path to leadership self-leadership right, by equipping them with the skills to inform their own brain on the reason why they want to accept your help and then to get involved in understanding what leadership actually means.
- 14:07Dr. Slaton Live: Because you have them doing real-time projects right, where you're teaching them how to perform and their brain is on because they're experiencing care and they're not used to getting care, but that's what you're scoring their ability to care.
- 14:28Dr. Slaton Live: This has been Dr Christopher Kevin Slayton.
