• 1:49
Speaker 3: the end of the week. What a stormy night in
• 1:50
Speaker 3: parts of West Virginia, including the Canal Valley. Now at
• 1:52
Speaker 3: one point there are about eighty two thousand people in
• 1:55
Speaker 3: West Virginia without power, and Jeff just told us on
• 1:59
Speaker 3: the news over twelve thousand currently in canaw County or
• 2:02
Speaker 3: without power. Story posted about it wv Metronews dot com.
• 2:06
Speaker 3: Apparently I slept through the entire thing because I knew
• 2:09
Speaker 3: nothing of it until I woke up this morning. The
• 2:12
Speaker 3: City of Charleston did put out a statement saying there
• 2:15
Speaker 3: were down power lines and trees in various areas, loud
• 2:17
Speaker 3: in the Heights North Charleston, among other places. So we'll
• 2:21
Speaker 3: touch on that perhaps a little bit later on, but
• 2:23
Speaker 3: again we do have information available about it at wv
• 2:25
Speaker 3: metronews dot com. There were several schools closed in Canawan
• 2:28
Speaker 3: County as well, So just yeah, stormy night, very rare
• 2:32
Speaker 3: for this time of year to have those kind of
• 2:34
Speaker 3: storms roll through. Coming up on the show a little
• 2:37
Speaker 3: bit later on, down a Good jb Acres is going
• 2:39
Speaker 3: to be stopping by it and as you know, the
• 2:41
Speaker 3: Charleston Area Alliance has been doing this holiday window decorating contest.
• 2:45
Speaker 3: We're going to be joined by Susy Salisbury from the
• 2:47
Speaker 3: Alliance and one of the winners, also, doctor Casey Sacksonbridge Valley,
• 2:50
Speaker 3: will stop by and we're gonna have a little giveaway

Speaker 3: But before we got an Angie gill in water stand to
• 3:07
Speaker 3: buy for the Cannal Charleston Humane Association with this week's
• 3:09
Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please pet of the Week. Before we do that,
• 3:12
Speaker 3: I do want to get to this first. Yesterday on
• 3:14
Speaker 3: the show, we had former legislator Chris Pritt on who
• 3:16
Speaker 3: announced on the show but he'd be running for State
• 3:19
Speaker 3: Senate in District seventeen. Your host here failed to ask
• 3:22
Speaker 3: him which seat he was running four. Those seats are
• 3:25
Speaker 3: currently held by doctor Tom Tacubo and Anne Sharknock, respectively.
• 3:28
Speaker 3: Someone called the show inquiring about which seat Chris was
• 3:32
Speaker 3: going to be running for, and I promised the caller
• 3:34
Speaker 3: I would get the answer from Chris. So here it is.
• 3:36
Speaker 3: Chris Pritt is running for the seat currently held by
• 3:38
Speaker 3: Tom Tacubo. So there is your answer. And I apologize
• 3:42
Speaker 3: for not asking him that on the air. To be
• 3:44
Speaker 3: honest with you, I simply forgot Chris. Chris Prett will
• 3:48
Speaker 3: be running for State Senate in District seventeen for the
• 3:51
Speaker 3: seat that's currently held by Tom Tokubo. Now that we
• 3:55
Speaker 3: have that taking care of, let's welcome to Angie Gillen
• 3:56
Speaker 3: Water from the Canneal Charleston Humane Association with this week's
• 3:59
Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please of the Week. Angie, Good morning, and
• 4:02
Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
• 4:03
Speaker 5: You mean gooda morning.
• 4:04
Speaker 3: Gooda morning. I've already made that joke. I've already made
• 4:07
Speaker 3: Ryan roll his eyes in the production booth this morning,
• 4:10
Speaker 3: because we're going we get to Gooda here in a moment.
• 4:12
Speaker 3: Anything to report on your end as far as the
• 4:15
Speaker 3: storms at the shelter or in your personal dwelling. What
• 4:20
Speaker 3: can you tell us?
• 4:21
Speaker 5: I'm in the same boat as you, and I think
• 4:23
Speaker 5: I just slept everything last night. I had no idea
• 4:26
Speaker 5: there was a storm. But surprisingly we all of us
• 4:30
Speaker 5: at the shelter, we finally got a win. The power
• 4:33
Speaker 5: was on and there was no damage to the building.
• 4:35
Speaker 3: Very good, Very good. I did get to hang out
• 4:38
Speaker 3: with you a little bit last Saturday at Valley Park
• 4:40
Speaker 3: and Hurricane were you guys, and also the shelters and
• 4:43
Speaker 3: Putnam can There were actually several that came together with
• 4:46
Speaker 3: this big group adoption event held last week in the
• 4:49
Speaker 3: Valley Park. How did it go?
• 4:52
Speaker 5: So across all the shelters that were attending, there were
• 4:55
Speaker 5: around twenty five adoptions and we actually had ten of
• 4:59
Speaker 5: them as ten of our Kha dogs were adopted. Was
• 5:02
  Speaker 5: very exciting.
• 5:03
Speaker 3: It was a it was a great event, and you
• 5:05
Speaker 3: held it, you know, before the snow arrived. You know,
• 5:08
Speaker 3: I know you were a little concerned about that. But
• 5:11
Speaker 3: I will say this, I've never been to an adoption
• 5:13
Speaker 3: event that had that many dogs in one place. Of course,
• 5:16
Speaker 3: you had an all inside kind of a little tent thing.
• 5:19
Speaker 3: It was a little loud in there.
• 5:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, I was gonna say I can still kind of
• 5:23
Speaker 5: hear about one hundred dogs all barking at one time.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: So well, it was a good event and hats off
• 5:29
Speaker 3: to you and everybody for taking part in that. All right,
• 5:31
Speaker 3: let's get to our adopt me. Please put it the week.
• 5:33
Speaker 3: As always, the pet has posted picture posted Dave Island
• 5:36
Speaker 3: Radio on Facebook and also at the WCCHS Network Facebook page,
• 5:40
Speaker 3: as well as at Dave A seventy on X. You
• 5:43
Speaker 3: mentioned the name earlier, It's Guda. Tell us about Guda.
• 5:47
Speaker 5: So Guda actually came to Kha as a puppy. When
• 5:50
Speaker 5: she was about two to three months old. She was
• 5:54
Speaker 5: adopted and recently she has found her way back to
• 5:57
Speaker 5: Kha sadly, and she is very, very very scared in
• 6:01
Speaker 5: the shelter right now. She doesn't really like to walk
• 6:04
Speaker 5: on the leash. She has to be carried everywhere, which
• 6:07
Speaker 5: would be fine, but she's you know, close to thirty
• 6:09
Speaker 5: forty pounds, so it's a little difficult to carry her everywhere.
• 6:14
Speaker 5: She's about almost two years old. She's already been stayed,
• 6:17
Speaker 5: she's up to dated on her vaccines, and she does
• 6:20
Speaker 5: great with other dogs. They kind of bring her out
• 6:22
Speaker 5: of her show a little bit, and she also does
• 6:25
Speaker 5: great with kids. We don't know about cats, however, with
• 6:29
Speaker 5: how shy she is, she'll probably be afraid of cats
• 6:31
  Speaker 5: in your home.
• 6:32
Speaker 3: So and we don't know what her story was. As
• 6:35
Speaker 3: far as you know, you said that she came to
• 6:37
Speaker 3: the shelter when she was a puppy and somehow found
• 6:39
Speaker 3: her way back, So we don't We don't know what
• 6:41
Speaker 3: the story is, right correct.
• 6:44
Speaker 5: I do know that the person that adopted her brought
• 6:46
Speaker 5: her back to the shelter, but I don't know exactly
• 6:48
Speaker 5: what happened as if you know, they couldn't take care
• 6:51
Speaker 5: of her anymore, they were moving.
• 6:53
  Speaker 6: I don't know.
• 6:53
Speaker 5: I'm not sure exactly what happened there, but they had
• 6:57
Speaker 5: her for almost two years, so I assume it was
• 6:59
  Speaker 5: something pretty serio.
• 7:00
Speaker 3: It happen, well it and it happens. But but you know,
• 7:03
Speaker 3: it is also sad, you know, when a pet gets
• 7:07
Speaker 3: attached to a family or an individual like that and
• 7:09
Speaker 3: they suddenly get brought back and they you know, they
• 7:11
Speaker 3: don't understand why or anything like that. So we don't know.
• 7:14
Speaker 3: I don't want to throw any shade on the people
• 7:16
Speaker 3: because we don't know what happened, and they did do
• 7:17
Speaker 3: the right thing by at least bringing it back, as
• 7:19
Speaker 3: opposed to like a lot of people do, just you know,
• 7:22
Speaker 3: setting it out somewhere or just going off and leaving it.
• 7:24
Speaker 3: That happens, unfortunately. So but what you're telling me about
• 7:27
Speaker 3: the behavior of the dog though it, I mean, how
• 7:30
Speaker 3: good a girl she is, I can't imagine it would
• 7:32
Speaker 3: have been based on what you're telling me behavior related.
• 7:36
Speaker 5: No, I know, it definitely was not Guda's fault. I
• 7:39
Speaker 5: think it was something going on in their life as
• 7:42
Speaker 5: to why they brought her back. So but Guda is
• 7:44
Speaker 5: a great dog, that's what. Like I said, these behaviors
• 7:48
Speaker 5: that she's showing at the Shelter of Fear will go
• 7:50
Speaker 5: away once she gets comfortable in a home. But yeah,
• 7:54
Speaker 5: that's so we're thankful that they came in and discussed
• 7:57
Speaker 5: bringing Guda back with us rather than you know, tying
• 7:59
Speaker 5: her to the fen r in the parking lot.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: Don't get me started on that. Don't get me started
• 8:04
  Speaker 3: on that.
• 8:05
  Speaker 2: Any idea.
• 8:05
Speaker 3: What kind of dog gooda is?
• 8:07
Speaker 5: Oh? So she she's interesting looking she I would say,
• 8:11
Speaker 5: maybe like a shepherd mix, but West Virginia brown dog
• 8:15
Speaker 5: all the way, all the way.
• 8:16
Speaker 3: That's the first thing I thought of. The Dave Allen
• 8:18
Speaker 3: Show on five eighty Lives brought to you probably by
• 8:20
Speaker 3: Husband's Pizza. Get the Hustan's Holiday pack a large et
• 8:22
Speaker 3: Nich Pepperoni pizza, ten breadsticks, twelve hot wings, and a
• 8:25
Speaker 3: two looter bottle of PEPSI only thirty three ninety nine.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: You guys do it so Christmas, Caroline, I understand, yep.
• 8:32
Speaker 5: I'm at the starting at the Blue Parrot. I'm sorry,
• 8:35
Speaker 5: I'm starting at Groove and heading all the way down
• 8:37
Speaker 5: Capitol Street with Tito's Tito's Vodka.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: Actually, so, I mean this was the employees of the shelter.
• 8:45
Speaker 3: You're gonna bring any of the pets with you, let
• 8:46
Speaker 3: them do a little howling.
• 8:48
Speaker 5: So there will be no pets attending just because they're
• 8:51
Speaker 5: not going to be allowed in some of the establs.
• 8:53
Speaker 3: Right, yeah, I got it.
• 8:54
Speaker 5: There will be there will be shelter staff, there will
• 8:57
Speaker 5: be volunteers, there'll be everybody here.
• 8:59
Speaker 3: It's gonna be a great time. And again the weather,
• 9:01
Speaker 3: it's going to be cool, but it is Christmas. That's
• 9:03
Speaker 3: what it's supposed to be. You know, as as you
• 9:05
Speaker 3: head out to do a little Christmas Caroly the night,
• 9:08
Speaker 3: are you a decent singer.
• 9:09
Speaker 5: Hanjie No, But the audience in my car absolutely think well.
• 9:15
Speaker 3: And the fact that the event sponsored by Tito's, I mean,
• 9:17
Speaker 3: you know, it's just it'll all be good rhythm in
• 9:21
Speaker 3: a bottle, as they say, it's going to be a
• 9:22
Speaker 3: great great. Now, somebody, if you go to these businesses
• 9:26
Speaker 3: downtown tonight and you're out, Carolyn, somebody wants wants I
• 9:29
Speaker 3: know you're not doing it for this purpose, but if
• 9:31
Speaker 3: somebody wants to make a donation or something like that
• 9:33
Speaker 3: to you, I'm sure you're not going to turn it down.
• 9:36
Speaker 5: Absolutely. Amanda, who is pretty much in charge of all
• 9:40
Speaker 5: of our donations, will be at that event. She has
• 9:43
Speaker 5: spoken about tuxes and tails on this show before. She'll
• 9:46
Speaker 5: be there and she'll gladly take donations and make sure
• 9:49
Speaker 5: they go to the right place.
• 9:50
Speaker 3: All right, now, let's get back to adoptions just for
• 9:52
Speaker 3: a moment. I did read on your social media that
• 9:55
Speaker 3: you've got a law firm that's stepped up to kind
• 9:58
Speaker 3: of help out covering the cost of some adoptions.
• 9:59
Speaker 5: Right, yes, West Law Firm. They make Christmas magic for us.
• 10:05
Speaker 5: Every year they sponsor adult dog at option fees so
• 10:08
Speaker 5: that hopefully they can find a home before Christmas. Adult
• 10:12
Speaker 5: dogs are six months and older, so anybody six months
• 10:14
Speaker 5: and older will be free to adopt until Christmas. Thanks
• 10:17
Speaker 5: the West Law Firm.
• 10:18
Speaker 3: Big shout out to those folks. Anything else going on
• 10:20
Speaker 3: in the next couple of days as we get ready
• 10:22
Speaker 3: to head toward the Christmas holiday, you guys out and
• 10:25
Speaker 3: about anywhere else over the weekend and get anything else
• 10:27
  Speaker 3: going on.
• 10:28
Speaker 5: So we're actually not going to be out this weekend
• 10:32
Speaker 5: for an option event. However, we do desperately need fosters
• 10:36
Speaker 5: for some mommy dogs in our care, moms and puppies.
• 10:40
Speaker 5: So if that sounds interesting, please come up and see
• 10:42
Speaker 5: us to do that.
• 10:43
Speaker 3: There you go, There you go, Angie. It's always a
• 10:46
Speaker 3: pleasure of you on the show. Now, I'm not going
• 10:47
Speaker 3: to be here next Friday, and I'm not sure at
• 10:50
Speaker 3: this point whether we're doing a local show next Friday,
• 10:52
Speaker 3: I will not be there. So if I'm not here,
• 10:54
Speaker 3: more than likely you'll be talking to Dale Cooper next week.
• 10:56
Speaker 3: I'm sure he'll take care of you.
• 10:57
Speaker 5: Okay, all right, I think that sounds good.
• 10:59
Speaker 3: All right, Great Christmas. We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot, Angie,
• 11:03
Speaker 3: Gilla water Knaw Charleston. You made an association. Guda, as in
• 11:06
Speaker 3: the cheese is our adopt me please put of the
• 11:09
Speaker 3: week picture posted Dave Island Radio on Facebook and at
• 11:11
Speaker 3: Dave A seventy on X and also the WCCHS network
• 11:14
Speaker 3: Facebook page. Guda around thirty pounds, about two years old.
• 11:18
Speaker 3: Great with other dogs, great with kids. Don't know about
• 11:21
Speaker 3: cats yet, but as Angie said, with Guda's behavior shouldn't
• 11:26
Speaker 3: be a problem. You never know, but shouldn't be a problem.
• 11:28
Speaker 3: She came to the shelter at about two or three
• 11:32
Speaker 3: months old, was adopted. And again it doesn't to me
• 11:36
Speaker 3: sound like a behavior issue. The people had had her
• 11:39
Speaker 3: for a couple of years and then brought her back
• 11:42
Speaker 3: for one reason or another. And if it was something
• 11:44
Speaker 3: going on in their life, like I said, you know,
• 11:46
Speaker 3: they were, they were moving, They're somewhere they could have
• 11:48
Speaker 3: pets or whatever, then I applaud them for doing that.
• 11:51
Speaker 3: But Guda is very, very confused, very scared in the shelters.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: She won't walk on a leash. But Angie says, once
• 11:57
Speaker 3: you get her with other dogs, she will be fine.
• 12:00
Speaker 3: So you're looking for a great pet this holiday season,
• 12:03
Speaker 3: here's your dog, classic West Virginia brown dog with a
• 12:06
Speaker 3: little bit of shepherd. Beautiful, beautiful dog. I've got the
• 12:09
Speaker 3: picture again, posted Dave alland Radio and Facebook, the WCCHS

• 14:44
Speaker 4: Sachs a Bridge Valley. Good morning, Welcome to the show.
• 14:48
Speaker 6: Than Allen. How are you doing?
• 14:49
Speaker 3: I'm find Casey Sacks. How are you? We're gonna call
• 14:51
Speaker 3: everybody by both names now, so all right, Casey Sachs, great,
• 14:54
Speaker 3: got have you on the show. I want to talk
• 14:56
Speaker 3: a little bit about the Win Academy. You spend a
• 14:58
Speaker 3: lot of time on the show when we have on
• 15:00
Speaker 3: talking about the Win Academy. Got a little love in
• 15:03
Speaker 3: Got a little love in DC. I understand, Doctor Sachs.
• 15:05
Speaker 6: It's really lucky. So my dean for the Win Academy,
• 15:10
Speaker 6: Jennifer Hurt, is just fabulous and she has gotten You
• 15:13
Speaker 6: may remember a couple of years ago we won recognition
• 15:16
Speaker 6: from the ass Family. They gave us a cash prize
• 15:19
Speaker 6: for being one of the most innovative schools in the
• 15:21
Speaker 6: country and they've paid They've now paid for our dean
• 15:25
Speaker 6: to come to DC to get to meet with various
• 15:27
Speaker 6: dignitaries and governors from across the country and tell them
• 15:30
Speaker 6: what's going on in West Virginia so that they can
• 15:33
Speaker 6: try and replicate it in their states.
• 15:35
Speaker 3: And again, you do it every time we're on. But
• 15:36
Speaker 3: I want to make sure people understand what a great
• 15:38
Speaker 3: thing this WIN Academy is and exactly what it is.
• 15:41
  Speaker 3: Explain it.
• 15:42
Speaker 6: So the WIN Academy is an early college high school
• 15:44
Speaker 6: at Bridge Valley. So when students are in eleventh or
• 15:47
Speaker 6: twelfth grade, they come to Bridge Valley, they go into nursing,
• 15:51
Speaker 6: they go into advanced manufacturing technology, and we completely sequence
• 15:55
Speaker 6: their coursework so that they're doing something that's consistent with
• 15:58
Speaker 6: the major they and currently can graduate with a high
• 16:01
Speaker 6: school diploma and an associate's degree and go right into
• 16:04
Speaker 6: the workforce if that's what they want, or transfer to
• 16:06
Speaker 6: a four year school and only have two years left
• 16:08
  Speaker 6: to do.
• 16:09
Speaker 3: And want to talk a little bit about veterans, because
• 16:12
Speaker 3: I know you guys at Bridge Valley always go above
• 16:14
Speaker 3: and beyond for our veterans, including an event that you
• 16:16
Speaker 3: had I think it was last weekend. Talk about that.
• 16:19
Speaker 6: Oh, so we at Bridge Valley love our veterans. We're
• 16:22
Speaker 6: really lucky to have such a terrific group. And this
• 16:25
Speaker 6: last weekend they participated with lots of other folks at
• 16:29
Speaker 6: the John L. K Memorial Cemetery and did the reeps
• 16:32
Speaker 6: across America. I don't know if you've ever had the
• 16:34
Speaker 6: opportunity to do that, Dave, but you really should get out.
• 16:37
Speaker 6: It's a special event where they bring in reaps and
• 16:40
Speaker 6: put them on everybody's grave. It's really cool and it's
• 16:44
Speaker 6: so fun that we had students being able to do
• 16:46
Speaker 6: it right here in West Virginia.
• 16:48
Speaker 3: And you've got at Bridge Valley, Doctor Sachs, You've got
• 16:51
Speaker 3: a pretty big chunk of of your enrollment that are veterans.
• 16:55
  Speaker 5: We do.
• 16:55
Speaker 6: We love our veterans, We love our veteran families. We
• 16:58
Speaker 6: try really hard every year to make sure we get
• 17:01
Speaker 6: recognized as a veteran friendly college. It's very important to us.
• 17:04
Speaker 6: We have dedicated veterans lounges on both of our campuses.
• 17:08
Speaker 6: We have dedicated staff for our veterans students so that
• 17:10
Speaker 6: they don't have to negotiate the financial aid process alone.
• 17:13
Speaker 6: We're really interested in helping our families be successful. All
• 17:17
Speaker 6: of our families be successful, but we're especially dedicated to
• 17:20
  Speaker 6: our veteran families.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: Talking to doctor Casey Sachs Abridge Valley. It's nine twenty
• 17:24
Speaker 3: five day Vallance show and five Indiline brought to you

• 17:46
Speaker 3: Generations Forward see them for all the details. Read an
• 17:50
Speaker 3: article doctor sax the other day about Microsoft offering up
• 17:54
Speaker 3: some cyber scholarships. Talk theme to talk about that.
• 17:58
Speaker 6: A great So Microsoft is interested in getting more people
• 18:01
Speaker 6: into cybersecurity. They see that a rising tide lifts all boats.
• 18:05
Speaker 6: They really want to get people into the field of cybersecurity.
• 18:08
Speaker 6: So even if what you decide you're going to do
• 18:10
Speaker 6: is go work at Moses Automotive and help them with
• 18:12
Speaker 6: their cybersecurity, Microsoft is committed to getting more people into
• 18:15
Speaker 6: the field, and so they've reached out to Bridge Valley
• 18:18
Speaker 6: and are doing targeted scholarships and trying really hard to
• 18:21
Speaker 6: get students to apply for these Microsoft scholarships so that
• 18:24
Speaker 6: you can go to school and study cybersecurity.
• 18:26
Speaker 3: And cybersecurity is all the rage right now, doctor Sachs.
• 18:31
Speaker 6: I mean, it really is. That paired with AI, there's
• 18:34
Speaker 6: a lot going on, and certainly it's a booming field.
• 18:38
Speaker 6: So it's one of those areas where you can get
• 18:39
Speaker 6: some training in a pretty short amount of time if
• 18:42
Speaker 6: you have any inclination towards computers, and find a good
• 18:45
Speaker 6: job in any number of fields that everybody from the
• 18:48
Speaker 6: state auditor's office to a school, they all need cybersecurity experts.
• 18:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I mean there's companies that specialize in that's
• 18:56
Speaker 3: what they do is on a contract basis for other
• 18:58
Speaker 3: companies as they do cybersecurity. But you're right, I mean,
• 19:01
Speaker 3: no matter what the industry is, there there's a cybersecurity
• 19:06
Speaker 3: job available somewhere, because we've seen in every industry there
• 19:10
Speaker 3: can be issues with cybersecurity, and now that you know
• 19:13
Speaker 3: it's getting it's getting more and more prevalent every day.
• 19:16
  Speaker 6: It's right, that's absolutely right, and it's a field where
• 19:19
Speaker 6: I would certainly tell the young people in my life
• 19:22
Speaker 6: or people who want to change jobs who are in
• 19:24
Speaker 6: my life, if you're inclined to work with computers and
• 19:27
Speaker 6: really help protect a whole system, that this is a
• 19:30
Speaker 6: great thing to look at.
• 19:31
Speaker 3: Indeed, it is kind of going on all of the
• 19:35
Speaker 3: things that are making the news these days. You mentioned AI,
• 19:37
Speaker 3: We talked about cybersecurity. There's a lot of talk in
• 19:39
Speaker 3: West Virginia and other areas too, doctor Sacks about data centers,
• 19:43
Speaker 3: and there aren't a lot of and analyts. It can
• 19:46
Speaker 3: be a very controversial issue. We're not going to get
• 19:49
Speaker 3: into all that, but bottom line is is data centers
• 19:52
Speaker 3: are being built in a lot of places around America
• 19:54
Speaker 3: and there's you know, and possibly West Virginia as well.
• 19:56
Speaker 3: Talk about some of the jobs that come along with
• 20:00
Speaker 3: data centers and what Bridge Valley is offering relating to that.
• 20:04
Speaker 6: That's such a good question, Dave. Well, there's actually two
• 20:08
Speaker 6: areas that we have at Bridge Valley that are terrific
• 20:10
Speaker 6: jobs that could support data center operations. One is electrical
• 20:14
Speaker 6: engineering and the other is HVAC technician. And so of
• 20:18
Speaker 6: course cybersecurity. Of course, it sort of would think of
• 20:21
Speaker 6: those when you're thinking about a data center, but the
• 20:24
Speaker 6: technology that supports the infrastructure. So if you're building a
• 20:28
Speaker 6: big building and you have to keep all of this
• 20:29
Speaker 6: stuff running, computers can't run hot, so they really need
• 20:33
Speaker 6: advanced age fact technicians. They're going to end up trying
• 20:36
Speaker 6: to get all of our really talented HVAC technicians out
• 20:39
Speaker 6: of our programs. And it's an area that if you're thinking, gosh,
• 20:42
Speaker 6: I like to work with my hands or fix things,
• 20:45
Speaker 6: it's a terrific time to study that because there's more
• 20:48
Speaker 6: jobs than ever that are starting to emerge in the
• 20:51
Speaker 6: market because of these data centers.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: Talk with doctor Ksey sachs Bridge Valley Spring classes, Doctor
• 20:56
Speaker 3: Sacks are going to start what January the twelfth, I think,
• 20:59
Speaker 3: and and well, you know, people would say I need
• 21:05
Speaker 3: to go back to school. There's a lot of people
• 21:07
Speaker 3: that have said that about it.
• 21:07
  Speaker 6: You're always welcome.
• 21:09
Speaker 3: So there's still time to register though right there is.
• 21:13
Speaker 6: You can register all the way until the eighth of January.
• 21:16
Speaker 6: I would certainly recommend sooner the better. Then you can
• 21:18
Speaker 6: have some planning and go see where your classes are
• 21:21
Speaker 6: going to be. But absolutely come to campus. Let's get
• 21:23
Speaker 6: you registered for school.
• 21:25
Speaker 3: So if I take you up on your offer, and
• 21:27
Speaker 3: I come back to classes. What course of study? I
• 21:30
Speaker 3: know you're not a guidance counselor, but what course of
• 21:32
Speaker 3: study would you suggest for a fifty five year old
• 21:35
Speaker 3: disc jockey and radio announcer.
• 21:38
Speaker 6: Well, so I would probably start with what kind of
• 21:40
Speaker 6: job do you want to do next? And then we could.
• 21:41
  Speaker 3: Back into well, I don't know. I mean, I'm kind
• 21:45
Speaker 3: of I'm kind of enjoying this one. I've done it
• 21:47
Speaker 3: for thirty seven years, so I'm kind of enjoying this one.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: But I'll let you I'll take an assessment and you
• 21:51
Speaker 3: can place me in a program. How's that?
• 21:53
Speaker 6: When you're ready for a career team? Do you let
• 21:55
  Speaker 6: me know?
• 21:55
Speaker 3: D Well, you might want to talk to the bosses upstairs.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: They might be more ready for me to have a
• 22:00
Speaker 3: career change than I am. That's so, that's the way
• 22:01
Speaker 3: it works sometimes, Doctor k cy sacks the Bridge Valley.
• 22:04
Speaker 3: It's always a pleasure to have you on the show
• 22:06
Speaker 3: and remind people where they can check out more of
• 22:08
Speaker 3: the things going on at Bridge Valley.
• 22:10
Speaker 6: It's all at Bridge Valley dot edu.
• 22:12
Speaker 3: All right, you have yourself a great Christmas season. We'll
• 22:15
Speaker 3: talk in the new year. Thanks a lot. You all right,
• 22:18
Speaker 3: doctor Ksey Sachs of Bridge Valley. If I were going
• 22:21
Speaker 3: to at this point in my life, and I've done
• 22:23
Speaker 3: a few different things, but I've never even when I
• 22:26
Speaker 3: was doing other jobs that was still doing radio on
• 22:28
Speaker 3: the side, and so if I were going to go
• 22:30
Speaker 3: into something else, Ryan, we need to work on that.
• 22:32
Speaker 3: What what can my next career be? We need to
• 22:35
Speaker 3: work on that. To think about that. Uh, there was
• 22:39
  Speaker 3: a text and I didn't really know if it's for
• 22:41
Speaker 3: doctor Sachs or not. Talking about cybersecurity for senior citizens,
• 22:44
Speaker 3: organizations and communities. That is something that has that's really
• 22:49
Speaker 3: been in the news a lot when it comes to
• 22:52
Speaker 3: especially scams and things as that. As a matter of fact,
• 22:54
Speaker 3: coming up later on on Metro News Midday to Day
• 22:57
Speaker 3: among our guest today, Secretary of State Chris Warner is
• 23:00
Speaker 3: going to join us and he's gonna spend a little
• 23:01
Speaker 3: bit of time talking about things right along those lines.
• 23:06
Speaker 3: We're going to talk to a Delegate jb Acres when
• 23:08
Speaker 3: we come back after the break, and also Susie Salisbury
• 23:12
Speaker 3: from the Charleston Airy Allons is going to stop by.
• 23:14
Speaker 3: You know they have been doing this window decorating contest.
• 23:18
Speaker 3: I know we took part in it. If you come
• 23:19
Speaker 3: by our office here in Studios eleven eleven, Virginia Tredecent, Charleston,
• 23:23
Speaker 3: several of our personalities are displayed on the window out there.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: I did not get mine out there. For some reason.
• 23:29
Speaker 3: Woody Woods is out there. I think Chris Lawrence is
• 23:32
Speaker 3: out there. A couple of the sales weasels are out there.
• 23:33
Speaker 3: But for some reason, Ryan and I did not make
• 23:36
Speaker 3: the cut on the front of the window out there.
• 23:39
Speaker 3: Dex says. Dave Trump must have heard you talking about
• 23:41
Speaker 3: the Devil's lettuce yesterday he went and executive ordered cannabis
• 23:45
Speaker 3: to be rescheduled. It's good that he's speeding up the
• 23:48
Speaker 3: process that Biden started in twenty twenty two. Only thing is,
• 23:52
Speaker 3: according to the Controlled Substances Act, the DEA has to
• 23:55
Speaker 3: reschedule cannabis. Maybe if it gets rescheduled, Shelley Capito will
• 24:00
Speaker 3: stop her blockade on the thirty four million dollars in
• 24:03
Speaker 3: tax money that West Virginia can use. Yeah. I spent
• 24:05
Speaker 3: a lot of time on the pot yesterday, so to speak,
• 24:08
Speaker 3: talking about it anyway on Metro News Midday, especially yesterday
• 24:12
Speaker 3: and there are just some people in the Republican Party
• 24:15
Speaker 3: that aren't very happy with President Trump right now because
• 24:18
Speaker 3: of some of the things that he has said about
• 24:20
Speaker 3: the reclassification of marijuana and the majority of the text
• 24:24
Speaker 3: that we got on Open Line West Virginia yesterday. We're
• 24:26
Speaker 3: all about marijuana, either pro or con. And there's many
• 24:31
Speaker 3: of us that really don't have an opinion either way
• 24:33
Speaker 3: because I don't use it, so it doesn't really affect me,
• 24:35
Speaker 3: and I'm kind of like you do you on it?
• 24:38
  Speaker 3: You know so? But it's a it's a hot button
• 24:41
Speaker 3: topic for sure, and always has been. Bigley Piggy Wiggly
• 24:45
Speaker 3: Hotline three zero three zero four three four five fifty
• 24:48
Speaker 3: eight fifty eight. Tony of the Taylor Text three zero
• 24:50
Speaker 3: four nine three five five zero zero Way do you
• 24:52
Speaker 3: want to give you a quick programming notes on Wednesday show? Wednesday,
• 24:57
Speaker 3: of course is Christmas Eve, so we will be doing
• 24:59
Speaker 3: our tradition Jewish Christmas Spectacular. This is the I don't know,
• 25:04
Speaker 3: third or fourth year that we've done this something like that.
• 25:07
Speaker 3: State Democratic Party Chair of Delegate Mike Pushkin not talking politics.
• 25:10
Speaker 3: He'll leave his politics at the door. He changes his
• 25:13
Speaker 3: politics for guitar. He'll be in studio with us. He's
• 25:16
Speaker 3: bringing in several other musicians, I know the aim of
• 25:18
Speaker 3: Steel Band by Man. Tony the Taylor's Band is going
• 25:21
Speaker 3: to be in studio as well, and we're just going
• 25:24
Speaker 3: to have a Christmas jam session, play a little music,
• 25:26
Speaker 3: tell little stories, you know, like we've done in years past.
• 25:30
Speaker 3: And I have sent out the invitation to our frequent
• 25:35
Speaker 3: guests to the program that want to stop by that
• 25:38
Speaker 3: they're more than welcome to. And a big shout out
• 25:40
Speaker 3: to Richard Lindsay who is sponsoring the show yet again
• 25:42
Speaker 3: this year. So if you're if you're one of my
• 25:45
Speaker 3: frequent guests and you like to I just want to
• 25:47
Speaker 3: get all these different personalities in one place at Christmas.
• 25:51
Speaker 3: I want to get Greg Thomas, and I want to
• 25:53
Speaker 3: get Mike Pushkin, and I want to get Eric Tarr
• 25:56
Speaker 3: and Kaylee Young, and I want to get him all together,
• 25:59
Speaker 3: as we would say growing up in the Free Will
• 26:01
Speaker 3: Baptist Church, hugging neck and love somebody. So a man
• 26:05
Speaker 3: can wish, can he not? Jewish Christmas Spectacular coming up
• 26:09
Speaker 3: at nine oh five on Christmas Eve morning? All right,
• 26:12
Speaker 3: we're gonna take a break and Delicate. Jb Acres is
• 26:16
Speaker 3: coming up on the Voice of charlest WCCHS.
• 26:19
Speaker 7: The Dave Allen Show is presented in part by Generations
• 26:22
Speaker 7: Forward in Hurricane part of the Eric J.
• 26:24
Speaker 3: Tar family of businesses.
• 26:26
Speaker 8: I'm Doug Leach, founder and CEO of Ascension Recovery Services.
• 26:30
Speaker 8: We've done a number of projects with Jarrett Construction. Any
• 26:33
Speaker 8: people that really care about what they do and care
• 26:35
Speaker 8: about what we do is pretty unique. In Jarrett Construction
• 26:38
Speaker 8: fake care. They're really really good people. Good people do
• 26:41
Speaker 8: the right thing and they're very skilled. They have all
• 26:43
Speaker 8: the qualities that make up just a perfect construction partner,
• 26:46
Speaker 8: and they just stilled us a phenomenal building.
• 26:48
Speaker 9: Not only time, right on budget.
• 26:52
Speaker 2: Come on Cheri's Construction.
• 26:56
Speaker 4: THEOK Twelve Days of Christmas are on at Walker Chevrolet
• 26:59
Speaker 4: and and if you've been draining a park in a
• 27:01
Speaker 4: brand new Chevy under your tree this year, now is
• 27:04
Speaker 4: the time to make tracks. The Nitro, Gene and Ryan
• 27:06
Speaker 4: are marking down all kinds of vehicles before the end
• 27:09
Speaker 4: of the year. And to be honest, even SANTSA can't
• 27:11
Speaker 4: get deals this good. Check this out. The next deal
• 27:13
Speaker 4: on deck during the Twelve Days of Christmas at Walker's
• 27:15
Speaker 4: Chevrolet is on a twenty seventeen Jeep Wrangler hardtop all

• 27:22
Speaker 4: seventeen Jeep Wrangling for just nineteen nine ninety six plus tax, title,
• 27:27
Speaker 4: license and applicable fees.
• 27:29
Speaker 3: And the savings don't stop there.
• 27:30
  Speaker 4: If there's something else you're after, there's a good chance
• 27:33
Speaker 4: that Walker's got it too, and you know you'll find
• 27:35
Speaker 4: the best deal possible at Walker because Gene and Ryan
• 27:37
Speaker 4: built their business the old fashioned way by making friends.

• 28:00
Speaker 3: But what I'm missing is a signal coming from my kidneys.
• 28:03
  Speaker 3: That signal isn't like a ref's whistle.
• 28:05
Speaker 10: It's more of a silent SOS, which could be warning
• 28:07
Speaker 10: me of an increased risk for events like heart attack
• 28:10
Speaker 10: or stroke. And a way I can catch that signal

Speaker 10: a simple urine test called UACR. If you have type

• 30:15
Speaker 11: I'm doing great man. Married Christmas to you and everybody
• 30:17
Speaker 11: who's listening. It's my favorite time of the year.
• 30:19
Speaker 3: I love it. Are you a Christmas person? Oh my gosh,
• 30:21
Speaker 3: I love Christmas? What is it about? I Mean, here's
• 30:23
Speaker 3: what I've learned about Christmas. There's three types of people JB.
• 30:26
Speaker 3: There's people that love it. There are people that don't
• 30:29
Speaker 3: like it so much, and that there are people that
• 30:31
Speaker 3: just want to get through it. And that's usually people
• 30:33
Speaker 3: in retail or or people in radio or so they
• 30:37
Speaker 3: just want to get through it. But you're a lover
• 30:39
Speaker 3: of Christmas. I love it.
• 30:41
Speaker 11: The main reason why is my wife and I, like
• 30:42
Speaker 11: we just can't be luckier. We have three outstanding kids.
• 30:45
Speaker 11: So like Christmas Day for us is like a dream,
• 30:48
Speaker 11: Like just be in the house with the kids and
• 30:49
Speaker 11: like we just like make it relax and chill out,
• 30:51
Speaker 11: and you know, we just enjoy spending time with them.
• 30:53
Speaker 11: They're all getting older, oldest daughters in college now she
• 30:56
Speaker 11: still comes home, Thank goodness, in our twins or seniors
• 30:58
  Speaker 11: in high school.
• 30:59
Speaker 3: But we still have them.
• 31:01
Speaker 11: But like we're just trying to enjoy these last you
• 31:03
Speaker 11: know kind of Christmases where they're still with us and
• 31:05
Speaker 11: our families all together as much as we can, and
• 31:07
Speaker 11: of course seeing our parents and all this stuff too.
• 31:09
Speaker 3: But I and I love the season like that, you know.
• 31:11
Speaker 11: Again, not to get you know, too deep into it,
• 31:13
Speaker 11: but like the whole reason for Christmas. You know, I
• 31:16
Speaker 11: love going to church during the Christmas season, and I
• 31:18
Speaker 11: just you know, a lot of people just seem really
• 31:21
  Speaker 11: happy this.
• 31:21
  Speaker 3: Time of year.
• 31:23
Speaker 11: You know, we drove in the Christmas prey, My wife
• 31:25
Speaker 11: and I drove our youngest daughter's high school soccer team
• 31:27
Speaker 11: and the Christmas prey last week in Charleston, and like
• 31:30
Speaker 11: you know, you're just driving, people were waving at you
• 31:32
Speaker 11: and yellow Merry Christmas, and they're smiling, and like, I
• 31:35
Speaker 11: just I like to see people happy. I mean, I'm
• 31:36
Speaker 11: a people person us, you know, the main reason I
• 31:39
Speaker 11: got involved in politics is actually enjoy being around people.
• 31:42
Speaker 11: I like to talk to people. I like to try
• 31:43
Speaker 11: to help them if I can. And you know, a
• 31:46
Speaker 11: lot of folks are just happy this time here. Like
• 31:48
Speaker 11: I love seeing some mad say Mery Christmas.
• 31:49
Speaker 3: They say it back. I just I love it. Talking
• 31:52
Speaker 3: again with Delegate to jam Bakers, we do want to
• 31:55
Speaker 3: dive into the political realm here for a moment. The
• 31:57
Speaker 3: agenda that was announced last week by House Speaker Roger
• 31:59
Speaker 3: Hands shyall big oni, big on business, big on commerce,
• 32:03
Speaker 3: not so much on on social issues. That's something that
• 32:06
Speaker 3: Delegate Speaker A. Hanshaw said last week.
• 32:09
Speaker 11: Your thoughts, Yeah, so this is actually something that on
• 32:11
Speaker 11: the House Republican side, we had been working on this
• 32:14
Speaker 11: for several months. We had in the leadership team, you know,
• 32:18
Speaker 11: led by Speaker Hanshaw, who does a great job. He
• 32:21
Speaker 11: had asked members and he had tasked members of his
• 32:23
Speaker 11: leadership team to ask members of the House Republican Caucus
• 32:27
Speaker 11: to give priorities. And those priorities could have been whatever
• 32:29
  Speaker 11: people said.
• 32:29
Speaker 3: It could have been.
• 32:30
Speaker 11: You know, it could have been taxes, could have been jobs, schools, roads,
• 32:33
Speaker 11: you know, it could have been whatever they wanted to say.
• 32:35
Speaker 11: It could have been social issues. You know, there was
• 32:37
Speaker 11: no limit what you could prioritize. And when our member
• 32:41
Speaker 11: survey came back overwhelmingly the Republican Caucus in the House
• 32:44
Speaker 11: said we want to focus on jobs and economic issues.
• 32:47
Speaker 11: And so the Speaker took that and he said, well,
• 32:50
Speaker 11: that's what we're going to emphasize in this press conference
• 32:53
Speaker 11: is what our members said they wanted based upon what
• 32:55
Speaker 11: our constituents tell us. I mean, our job is to
• 32:57
Speaker 11: represent the people who vot us office. So this is
• 33:01
Speaker 11: a reflection I think of what our voters want. We're
• 33:04
Speaker 11: doing this as representatives of the people who put us
• 33:06
Speaker 11: in office. And then the speaker came out and I
• 33:08
Speaker 11: think did a fantastic job at that press conference, surrounded
• 33:11
Speaker 11: by you know, a huge number of the Republicans in
• 33:14
Speaker 11: the House. Where they're with him during that presentation is
• 33:16
Speaker 11: a sign of support. And those are things he emphasized.
• 33:20
Speaker 11: And you know, I've got a whole list of things
• 33:22
Speaker 11: here that he talked about we can touch him on.
• 33:24
Speaker 11: But you know, just generally speaking, I don't have time
• 33:26
Speaker 11: to getting all the details I wish I did.
• 33:27
  Speaker 3: I wish you.
• 33:28
Speaker 11: I always say I wish you had a long form
• 33:29
Speaker 11: podcast and we could talk for sure three hours.
• 33:31
Speaker 3: But you know it's it's a dumb talk line thing
• 33:34
Speaker 3: that gets in the way. If we could just get
• 33:36
Speaker 3: rid of rid of Wilson the meadows, we'd be all right.
• 33:37
Speaker 3: Just locked the door and don't let him in. Well
• 33:39
Speaker 3: one of them's in Morgan, Hey, real quick, I do
• 33:42
Speaker 3: want to get in a winner. I want to say
• 33:43
Speaker 3: Congratulations Jeff Fleck of Charleston. He was our winner of
• 33:46
Speaker 3: the WVU tickets for that Monday night game at the
• 33:49
Speaker 3: Kyle cum So he's not only going to get four tickets,
• 33:51
Speaker 3: but he's also going to get to the Little Clark
• 33:54
Speaker 3: little party zone that they have there and parking passes
• 33:56
Speaker 3: as well. So Jeff, congratulations, appreciate you listening and and
• 34:00
Speaker 3: appreciate Pinnacle Consultants for hooking us up with those tickets.
• 34:02
Speaker 3: All right, let's go over some of those things that
• 34:04
Speaker 3: you want to talk about. Merry Christmas.
• 34:05
Speaker 11: Jeff leg a job buddy, so that their overall emphasis,
• 34:09
Speaker 11: Dave and everybody listening is there's like three main or
• 34:12
Speaker 11: three legs of the school school or stool. Basically, it's
• 34:14
Speaker 11: workforce ready education initiatives, it's a job creation or job
• 34:19
Speaker 11: creating business climate initiatives. And then the third the third
• 34:21
Speaker 11: leg of the stool is just kind of broadly, it's
• 34:24
Speaker 11: responsible economic growth is what we're calling it. So some
• 34:27
Speaker 11: of those things I wish I could talk about them all,
• 34:29
Speaker 11: but one thing we're going to do is we're going
• 34:31
Speaker 11: to you know, really emphasize what we call upscilling, which
• 34:34
Speaker 11: is we will incentivize companies that are existing, you that
• 34:37
Speaker 11: exist in West Virginia now to provide more on the
• 34:41
Speaker 11: job training for their employees. Continuing education for employees, give
• 34:45
Speaker 11: people a chance to advance within their own company and
• 34:48
Speaker 11: you know, keep them here in West Virginia with better
• 34:51
Speaker 11: economic opportunities for themselves and their families. And then also
• 34:54
Speaker 11: with the advance within the company that creates you know,
• 34:56
Speaker 11: whatever their prior position was, that creates an opening for
• 34:59
Speaker 11: somebody else. And this is part of what we're also doing, Dave,
• 35:02
Speaker 11: is you know, we work really hard to try to
• 35:04
Speaker 11: attract new businesses to the state of West Virginia, and
• 35:06
Speaker 11: that's something I spent a lot of time on personally,
• 35:08
Speaker 11: but we also want to make sure the businesses that
• 35:11
Speaker 11: are here that have been fighting, you know, side by
• 35:13
Speaker 11: side with us, you know, to make things work and
• 35:15
Speaker 11: have you have been dedicated to this state sometimes for
• 35:18
Speaker 11: decades or maybe even one hundred years or more, that
• 35:20
Speaker 11: we're also going to make sure that they're taken care
• 35:22
Speaker 11: of as well. So this upscaling is part of that.
• 35:24
Speaker 11: We're going to provide incentives for better training for existing
• 35:26
Speaker 11: employees in the state. We're also going to do things
• 35:30
Speaker 11: like try try to provide opportunities for people who are
• 35:34
Speaker 11: still in high school to go ahead and get on
• 35:35
Speaker 11: a job track. Doctor Casey Sachs is one of your
• 35:38
Speaker 11: guests a little while ago, and let me tell you
• 35:39
Speaker 11: she does a fantastic at the top a Bridge Valley.
• 35:42
Speaker 11: That school has just propelled forward under her leadership in
• 35:45
Speaker 11: the past couple of years. She's she's a superstar.
• 35:48
Speaker 3: I mean to the point I'll give a big to
• 35:50
Speaker 3: your point there. She didn't like to talk about it
• 35:53
Speaker 3: that much, but other institutions similar to hers out of
• 35:55
Speaker 3: state are coming in and looking at what Bridge Valley
• 35:58
Speaker 3: is doing, especially with that Win Academy. She has done
• 36:00
  Speaker 3: a phenomenal job.
• 36:01
Speaker 11: And one of the things she does with one academy
• 36:03
Speaker 11: is she puts those kids on a path to you know,
• 36:06
Speaker 11: graduate and be workforce ready as soon as they finish
• 36:09
Speaker 11: high school or being more advanced than their four year career.
• 36:11
Speaker 11: What she talked about with you, and that's one of
• 36:13
Speaker 11: the things we want to emphasize as well. It's I'm
• 36:15
Speaker 11: not going to say it's based upon her model, but
• 36:16
Speaker 11: it's very similar to give these kids the opportunity to
• 36:19
Speaker 11: go ahead and get work ready while they're still in
• 36:21
Speaker 11: high school. Uh, So we're going to emphasize that as well.
• 36:23
Speaker 11: We have some other things on here, Dave. We're going
• 36:25
Speaker 11: to allow, you know, try to increase our energy.
• 36:29
Speaker 3: Capacity in the state. It's a big issue right now.
• 36:31
Speaker 11: You talked about data centers with doctor Sachs a little
• 36:34
Speaker 11: while ago, you know, regardless of that issue, which I
• 36:36
Speaker 11: wish I could talk more about data centers individually, but
• 36:39
Speaker 11: we absolutely need more energy in the state for a
• 36:42
Speaker 11: lot of different reasons. One of those to provide you
• 36:44
Speaker 11: more capacity and which will it will help our rate payers,
• 36:47
Speaker 11: the people who live here.
• 36:48
Speaker 3: So we're going to do some things emphasize that.
• 36:51
Speaker 11: We're going to do some stuff like we're going to
• 36:53
Speaker 11: try to push a statewide construction sales tax credit for homebuilders.
• 36:58
Speaker 11: We have you know, so there's a shortage of housing
• 37:02
Speaker 11: in West Virginia, but it's really nationwide problem, but it
• 37:04
Speaker 11: certainly exists here. So we're gonna try to do some
• 37:07
Speaker 11: things and make housing more affordable on the front end,
• 37:10
Speaker 11: to create more housing stock, which will hopefully draw more
• 37:13
Speaker 11: folks in or just create better housing opportunities for people
• 37:15
Speaker 11: who live here. And then we're also going to do
• 37:18
Speaker 11: some things to try to emphasize we're incentivize more capital
• 37:23
Speaker 11: for small businesses in the state of West Virginia. Again,
• 37:25
Speaker 11: some of this will be large business focused, but we're
• 37:27
Speaker 11: doing a heck of a lot of stuff to also
• 37:29
Speaker 11: focus on small businesses.
• 37:30
Speaker 3: In West Virginia as well.
• 37:32
Speaker 11: And then another thing the speaker talked about is a
• 37:34
Speaker 11: teacher pay raise, teacher in school personnel that was part
• 37:38
Speaker 11: of his agenda or our agenda that he announced on
• 37:40
Speaker 11: our behalf. That is the most expensive part of this
• 37:44
Speaker 11: a lot of what we're talking about. The best thing
• 37:45
Speaker 11: about it, Dave, is some of these things won't cost anything.
• 37:48
Speaker 11: Some are very low cost. The teacher in school service
• 37:51
Speaker 11: personnel race. If that gets through, that'll be you. That's
• 37:54
Speaker 11: an expensive thing, but I think worth it. I support it.
• 37:57
Speaker 11: So and then I think the governor actually came out
• 38:00
Speaker 11: last week and said he supports a pay raise for
• 38:03
Speaker 11: state employees across the board, So we'll see how that goes.
• 38:05
Speaker 3: Was that would that be something that you'd be in
• 38:06
Speaker 3: support of or I will?
• 38:08
Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean I think that we you know, you
• 38:10
Speaker 11: got to be economically responsible and financially responsible, but the
• 38:12
  Speaker 11: numbers work.
• 38:13
Speaker 3: I supported, Our state employees deserve it, and this again,
• 38:16
Speaker 3: we're talking with delicate jb Acres about their legislative agenda
• 38:20
Speaker 3: going forward to Speaker Hanshaw talked about, you know, with
• 38:22
Speaker 3: the with these surveys that came out from the legislators.
• 38:25
Speaker 3: Now this is the house we're talking about. Haven't heard
• 38:28
Speaker 3: anything out of the Senate on whether they're going to
• 38:31
Speaker 3: grow along with this. How confident are you that, jb
• 38:35
Speaker 3: that that these things can be accomplished.
• 38:37
Speaker 11: Have a high level of confidence. And that doesn't mean
• 38:39
Speaker 11: every single one of these will get passed. Obviously, we've
• 38:42
Speaker 11: got a lot of stuff on our agenda here, but
• 38:44
Speaker 11: I'm very confident that we will have a jobs and
• 38:47
Speaker 11: economic first agenda that gets through. Is the primary thing
• 38:50
Speaker 11: that we accomplished this next session. I'll say this too quickly.
• 38:53
Speaker 11: You said that there was no emphasis on social issues,
• 38:56
Speaker 11: and there certainly wasn't in that press conference that the
• 38:58
Speaker 11: Speaker gave. But there will be some of those bills
• 39:01
Speaker 11: this year. And I will say, respectfully, there are a
• 39:03
Speaker 11: lot of voters in West Virginia who do.
• 39:05
Speaker 3: Care about those issues. Dave.
• 39:06
Speaker 11: I mean, that's not the main thing that I campaign on.
• 39:08
Speaker 11: I'm always a jobs and an economy first guy. You've
• 39:11
Speaker 11: had me on before, I think you would agree. That's
• 39:13
Speaker 11: why I always emphasize personally. But I'm not going to
• 39:16
Speaker 11: tell someone that something that individually matters.
• 39:18
Speaker 3: To them doesn't matter at all, we shouldn't address it.
• 39:21
Speaker 11: So you'll see some of those bills, I'm sure day,
• 39:23
Speaker 11: but the primary focus, at least in the House side
• 39:25
Speaker 11: will be this economic agenda. Affordability will be part of
• 39:29
Speaker 11: what we look at. Also, that's a huge issue across
• 39:31
Speaker 11: the country right now, and I think the Senate will
• 39:33
Speaker 11: get on board, or at least I'm hopeful that they
• 39:35
  Speaker 11: will with this.
• 39:36
Speaker 3: We had a text here for you said, why a
• 39:37
Speaker 3: tax credit if we plan to remove income tax?
• 39:40
Speaker 11: Well, it's a tax credit on building construction materials. Is
• 39:43
Speaker 11: how that one will work? If that's what the caller is, right?
• 39:45
Speaker 11: I think I think that's what they say. So that
• 39:47
Speaker 11: one to the caller that is, you know, we want
• 39:50
Speaker 11: to make the construction and building materials more affordable. And
• 39:53
Speaker 11: I'll tell you if you don't know this, a lot
• 39:54
Speaker 11: of people probably do. That's been one of the main
• 39:57
Speaker 11: drivers of the increase in housing costs is just the
• 39:59
Speaker 11: cost of the materials that use to build a house.
• 40:02
Speaker 11: So we're trying to make that more affordable and not
• 40:04
Speaker 11: tax people on the materials you actually have to use
• 40:06
Speaker 11: to build your residents, which will hopefully make the housing
• 40:09
  Speaker 11: more affordable.
• 40:10
  Speaker 3: So that's what that's from. It's been a week Delegate
• 40:13
Speaker 3: where people are announcing what they're doing. In twenty twenty six,
• 40:17
Speaker 3: three straight days of people coming on the show announcer
• 40:19
Speaker 3: that they're running for office. I had two Democrats and
• 40:22
Speaker 3: one Republican, two for state Senate, one running for a House.
• 40:27
Speaker 3: It's a future look like for JBA.
• 40:28
Speaker 11: Well today came on mainly to talk about what we're
• 40:30
Speaker 11: going to do this next session. But I'm all in.
• 40:32
Speaker 11: I'm going to run again. I've already filed pre candidacy,
• 40:34
Speaker 11: and man, I love doing this. I mean social media,
• 40:37
Speaker 11: We've said this before, that can be kind of a
• 40:39
Speaker 11: hard thing to deal with sometimes, but face to face
• 40:41
Speaker 11: conversations with constituents and voters or just people in general,
• 40:44
Speaker 11: like I like to try to make things better for
• 40:46
Speaker 11: the entire state. I mean, my primary focus is on
• 40:48
Speaker 11: my district, but I love to do things that just
• 40:51
Speaker 11: improve the quality of life from West Virginia. And you know,
• 40:54
Speaker 11: my family has been extremely fortunate. I like to see
• 40:56
Speaker 11: other people succeed as well. So I'm back in. I'm
• 40:59
Speaker 11: going to run again. I will be honored and privileged
• 41:01
Speaker 11: if the people in my district will vote for me
• 41:03
Speaker 11: again and put me back in office to keep.
• 41:04
  Speaker 3: Working for him.
• 41:06

Speaker 16: we were talking about the Holiday Window conic.
• 45:35
Speaker 3: All right, we'll announced who we got here already.
• 45:38
Speaker 16: So this morning we are very very happy to announce
• 45:41
Speaker 16: that we have all of our winners for the Holiday
• 45:45
Speaker 16: Window Contest, but on by the Charleston Area Alliance and
• 45:48
Speaker 16: sponsored by AEP and with us today in the studio
• 45:52
Speaker 16: is our Best in Show winner, and that's the Children's
• 45:55
Speaker 16: Theater of Turkleston. And so I have Meghan Deal here
• 45:58
Speaker 16: and she's got a couple of students with her as well.
• 46:01
Speaker 16: They were our Best and Show. That's the award where
• 46:04
Speaker 16: we actually have judges go out and select what they
• 46:08
Speaker 16: think is the best window of all of them. But
• 46:10
Speaker 16: we also have five People's Choice awards, and I'll just
• 46:13
Speaker 16: go through those and I'll turn it over to the
• 46:15
  Speaker 16: to Maga.
• 46:16
Speaker 3: I don't really even need to be here for this,
• 46:17
Speaker 3: so I'm gonna just turn it over to you and
• 46:19
Speaker 3: Meghan and I can just leave you go get go,
• 46:21
Speaker 3: get a couple of coffee, Go ahead, suits.
• 46:23
Speaker 16: All right, the Downtown winner, and again this is people's choice.
• 46:27
Speaker 16: This is we had an actual voting system where you
• 46:30
Speaker 16: can go in and pick in each one of the
• 46:32
Speaker 16: five districts, which which is your favorite window, venom and velvet.
• 46:36
Speaker 16: It's there. This is their first year participating there. On
• 46:39
Speaker 16: Choyer Street, that's our downtown people's choice. The east end
• 46:43
Speaker 16: is the office of the West Virginia Secretary of State.
• 46:45
Speaker 16: They did a beautiful display. As you enter the Secretary
• 46:50
Speaker 16: of State's office. In Kanaul City, it's Tim Hogan's Design Gallery.
• 46:54
Speaker 16: South Hills is Charlie Boutique, and on the west side
• 46:58
Speaker 16: it's Capital Business Into. So again, these are the folks
• 47:01
Speaker 16: in the community selected who would win those awards. But
• 47:06
Speaker 16: I'd like to have Megan talk a little bit about
• 47:08
Speaker 16: the Children's Theater Best in Show because it was just
• 47:12
Speaker 16: it was a fabulous display created by kids, done my kids,
• 47:16
Speaker 16: and ties into the show that they're hosting this weekend
• 47:19
Speaker 16: at the Clay Cup.
• 47:20
Speaker 9: Right, thank you, Sezy. We're super excited.
• 47:22
Speaker 7: So that window display was depicting up the Grinch, which
• 47:26
Speaker 7: is our show this weekend at the Clay Center. And
• 47:28
Speaker 7: it was actually a free hand drawn by Gabriel Rashid,
• 47:32
Speaker 7: who is one of our amazing kids in the Children's Theater.
• 47:36
Speaker 7: He's a student at Charleston Catholic High School. And then
• 47:39
Speaker 7: some of the other teens came in and helped color
• 47:41
Speaker 7: in and it was really a team effort. It was
• 47:43
Speaker 7: done by the teens and some of some of the adults.
• 47:45
Speaker 7: We always try to comment and rally and help them out.
• 47:47
Speaker 7: But you know, we're so excited. Were new Keno City residents.
• 47:51
Speaker 7: We've only been there a few months when we bought
• 47:53
Speaker 7: our brand new, beautiful building.
• 47:55
Speaker 9: So yeah, very excited.
• 47:56
Speaker 3: All right, you talk about who you've got here with.
• 47:58
Speaker 7: So I brought with me today two very special young ladies,
• 48:02
Speaker 7: Malia Sar and Emma Grace Hutchinson, and they are graduates
• 48:07
Speaker 7: of George Washington High School and they have both went
• 48:10
Speaker 7: off to college and they came back during the Christmas
• 48:13
Speaker 7: break to help us with our show. Malia, do you
• 48:15
Speaker 7: want to say where you are and what you're doing now?
• 48:18
  Speaker 2: So?
• 48:18
Speaker 11: I am currently at Ohio University studying acting and I
• 48:21
Speaker 11: really have children's theaters.
• 48:22
  Speaker 9: Think for that.
• 48:23
Speaker 11: They sparked my passion and let me know that if
• 48:27
Speaker 11: I have a passion, I can follow it to the.
• 48:28
Speaker 9: End, right and immigrat I'm.
• 48:31
Speaker 5: At University of Charleston studying Elementary and Special Education.
• 48:35
Speaker 3: CGFC has been a huge part of my life. They
• 48:38
Speaker 3: really have to thank them for everything. That's awesome. That's awesome.
• 48:42
Speaker 7: So they're helping us backstage this weekend at our show
• 48:44
Speaker 7: with the branch of which I'm gonna have to say again,
• 48:46
Speaker 7: we are having The Grinch all weekend. Three public shows tonight,
• 48:50
Speaker 7: two shows tomorrow, two and seven, and the tickets.
• 48:52
Speaker 9: So this is going to be a record breaking show.
• 48:55
Speaker 7: And we have had to open the second balcony, so
• 48:58
  Speaker 7: it's super exciting.
• 48:59
Speaker 3: That's good stuff. It's good stuff. I appreciate you, you
• 49:01
Speaker 3: ladies for being here now. University of Charleston and Ohio
• 49:04
Speaker 3: University being a Marshall person, you know, I'm going to
• 49:06
Speaker 3: give you a little bit of junk about. Ohio University
• 49:10
Speaker 3: is the alma mater of my co host in the afternoon,
• 49:11
Speaker 3: Amanda Baron, so hopefully we can get you in a
• 49:13
Speaker 3: better school. I'm kidding, I'm kiddy. So I want to
• 49:19
Speaker 3: go back to you here just for a moment. I
• 49:20
Speaker 3: want to talk about this the window decorating contest, and Megan,
• 49:23
Speaker 3: I'm going to close out with you with another little
• 49:25
Speaker 3: spot for the for the for the production, talk about
• 49:28
Speaker 3: the overall participation this year in the window decorating content.
• 49:31
Speaker 16: We had thirty businesses, businesses slash organizations that registered, and
• 49:37
Speaker 16: I'm happy to see that Metro News here was a
• 49:41
Speaker 16: participant as well. It's a lot of fun. And I
• 49:45
Speaker 16: think how like I mentioned last week, is you know,
• 49:48
Speaker 16: this is just a real team building effort. You're mean,
• 49:51
Speaker 16: Meghan mentioned that, but a lot of businesses use it
• 49:54
Speaker 16: as a team building effort as well of their staff
• 49:56
Speaker 16: and their employees. And it's a way to you know,
• 50:00
Speaker 16: really participate in. You know, what's become Charleston the Christmas town.
• 50:06
Speaker 16: Many of the businesses are going to decorate anyway, so
• 50:09
Speaker 16: why not sign up and become part of the competition.
• 50:12
Speaker 3: And look, Charleston has become like the Christmas City. I
• 50:16
Speaker 3: mean it's there's always been a buy in from the
• 50:18
Speaker 3: businesses and the individuals. But now if you look at
• 50:20
Speaker 3: what's going on over at the Selango Lall Light, the
• 50:23
Speaker 3: night over at Go Mark Ballpark, what's going on Holly
• 50:26
Speaker 3: Jolly Brawley, and all of these other you mentioned things,
• 50:28
Speaker 3: that Clay Center, all these it's excuse me, Capital Market
• 50:33
Speaker 3: as well. It's become Charleston is like the Christmas City now.
• 50:36
Speaker 16: And as far as entertainment, you know, last weekend was
• 50:38
Speaker 16: the Nutcracker Charleston Ballet and the Symphony. Now this weekend
• 50:42
Speaker 16: we have the Children's Theater, so there's just always something
• 50:45
  Speaker 16: going on.
• 50:46
Speaker 3: All good stuff. All right, give me another commercial here
• 50:48
Speaker 3: for you for your production.
• 50:49
Speaker 9: Yea, The Grinch is going on at the Clay Center
• 50:52
Speaker 9: with the Children's Theater. Charleston.
• 50:53
Speaker 7: Super excited. We have some of the Symphony coming and
• 50:56
Speaker 7: doing the live music. It's amazing. It's going to be
• 50:57
Speaker 7: an incredible show. We've had three we're working on our
• 51:01
Speaker 7: third school show right now. They're actually doing it over
• 51:03
Speaker 7: at the Clay Center seven o'clock tonight too and seven
• 51:05
  Speaker 7: tomorrow Saturday.
• 51:06
Speaker 9: Again. You can still get tickets, but they.
• 51:08
Speaker 3: Are going quick, get them, get them quickly, hacked house
• 51:11
Speaker 3: because they are. They're going quickly. You've even had to
• 51:13
Speaker 3: open up, like you said, a second level, right.
• 51:15
Speaker 9: Yeah, and it's so and it's a show for kids.
• 51:17
Speaker 7: It's only about an hour and a half long run,
• 51:19
Speaker 7: about ninety minutes, so you don't have to worry about
• 51:21
Speaker 7: them coming in for a two and a half three
• 51:23
Speaker 7: hour show. We're gonna have a fun different merchandise in
• 51:26
Speaker 7: the lobby, a lot of little photo ops. So yeah,
• 51:29
Speaker 7: come on down one more Christmas function before the crazy
• 51:33
  Speaker 7: week next week.
• 51:34
Speaker 3: Susy appreciate you being here. Thanks you so much, and
• 51:36
Speaker 3: Megan always pleasure to you and you girls. I'm sorry
• 51:39
Speaker 3: what I said about Ohio University. I'm a Marshall guy.

• 51:43
Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you girls as well. I know you
