Panthers Trade for Schmid Amid Goalie Uncertainty | Florida Panthers News
The Florida Panthers just pulled off a savvy move, trading a 2028 third-round pick to Vegas for goalie Akira Schmid — their top netminder last season with 16 wins. With Tarasov likely out the door after one year, the Panthers now face a big question: who starts? Sergei Bobrovsky, their seven-season cornerstone, may hit free agency soon. Schmid brings playoff pedigree — a Game 7 shutout as a rookie in 2023, three career shutouts, and international experience — making him a solid backup as the Panthers gear up for the new season.
