- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Joining me today is the host of three hours per carry,
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing great.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's really interesting how this list is like growing by the day.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: There's not a lot of clarity as far as who's a leader in the clubhouse or not.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: All we know is that Kevin Stephansky got I guess what you can call the first in-person interview.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: And if that's the case, I think that's good for him because they've they've the last two times they've hired the first interview that they've
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see, let's see if the Miami Dolphins will indeed hire Kevin Stephansky.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think he might be sort of an underdog because there are now, quote on quote, leaders, especially after Mike Tomlin.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: After it was basically announced that the Steelers would not be bringing Mike Tomlin back to coach.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: in Pittsburgh.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a, that's a big one.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's some big news today.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Raven's owner Steve Viscotti when you heard about it, he said, Oh, shit.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, although it seems like several insiders have already come out and I know just seen Anderson's out there saying, Oh, you know, you know, he's he's available, but several insiders, including Barry Jackson wants to wants to know that he also has a source that says that Mike Tomlin is not interested in coaching in 26 they's going to take a year off from coaching.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: there's talk that he will go to TV, although we have some news in that regard as well.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: He does not have a current contract to do TV with anybody.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: So if that happens, he's going to have to negotiate it here in the offseason.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: So who knows, there should be a window where if somebody wants
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: I guess somebody will approach them for, look, they're so, so many, so many properties.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, prime video.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: You got, uh, next year, there's going to be a Netflix game as well.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: So we're talking about, you have the Black Friday game.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: There's, there's so many, uh, prime videos going to have a larger portfolio as well.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: And next year, they're going to have two playoff games I believe.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to have a Black Friday game.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: They might even have one Thursday night football game.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: They have Thursday night football for the entire season, but they're gonna have the Thursday night on Thanksgiving as well.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: So you're gonna have expanded portfolio.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's gonna be so many properties, CBS Fox, ESPN, NFL, NetVC, NBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBCNBC
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: that Mike Tom is going to end up somewhere on TV if he wants it.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty true.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's a question.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's the question.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: Does he want it or does he just want to lay low for a little bit, get his mind clean, get to a newer organization and have a fresh start.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right now, as of tonight, we have no news on the Mike Tom and front.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: about John Harba.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily in relation to the Miami Dolphins, but for the NFL.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: There was some reporting that came out from Diana Rousini and I had received similar news.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like for John Harba, the top three teams in no order is the New York Giants, the Tennessee Titans, and the Atlanta Falcons.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now, of those three teams, if those are the top targets, it kind of makes you go wonder, why, why the giants, okay, maybe potentially the ownership, but.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Harba wants his own quarterback, like is a weekend a film study going to be enough for him to properly evaluate Jackson Dart.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Then there's Tennessee, which I get.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Borgones is the general manager.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Worked with Andy Reed, Harba comes from the Andy Reed tree.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And Ward, number one draft prospect, had a pretty good rookie
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: He had rookie white outs.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: His offensive line was not the best.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: His head coach was fired, you know, mid-year, the defense shaky at best.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of things going for him, but Tennessee has top draft picks that are gonna have almost over $100 million coming into 2026 free agency to really shore up that team.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this could actually be the best prospect for John Harbour where he can bring his people in, his culture and really dominate the franchise, similar to how it already was established in Baltimore.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, as far as those candidates, those three candidates.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think my partner on the podcast said it best.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: The worst thing that you can do as far as a new head coach is you can go to a place that has no quarterback, you know what's worse than having no quarterback, having the wrong quarterback.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: If you go to Atlanta, I don't know how you feel comfortable about that.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's an attractive job because Atlanta can't end due some of their issues in two years, but, you know, he's an older guy.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he wants to actually wait the two years until he can get his own quarterback.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Michael Penex is a thing.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's going to happen for the Atlanta Falcons.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: Then you go to Tennessee and maybe you like that quarterback, but that quarterback is brand new, Cam Ward.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: They have no roster.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: So you're starting essentially from scratch there.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have the Giants.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: You watched Jackson, Dart played.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Did he inspire confidence that he's going to be around into yours?
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: Have to watch in the way he's inspiring himself to dive at first, into whatever the hell he can, whether it's a wall, whether it's a player, or maybe John Harbo's midsection later on.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he had two IR stints this year due to concussion.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: So, like, come on, you know, so that was not an inspiring start for Jackson Dark.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, consider me skeptical on that report until John Harbaugh actually conducts all these interviews that he said he's going to do.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: So, let's wait on those interviews and once those interviews are done, then let's see where we're at with John Harbaugh because I don't trust those reports
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was, uh, I think a giant's athletic guy in O'Connor.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: It seems as if he's pretty dialed in.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, there was also conflicting reports from just he and Anderson, Diana Rousini, Tom Pellasaro, and I believe Ian Rapaport, uh, saying that there was actually no formal interview done for John Harba in Atlanta.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: where it was actually a phone call interview.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then with the Giants and John Harbour, it seems as if Briss Maro, who looks to be the general manager in waiting for the Giants, actually went to John Harbour's house to pitch and recruit and take a look at, you know, the pitch deck as to what the Giants were offering him.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now, something else came out later today for John Harbley and the Giants, and it just absolutely bewildered me where Brian Dable.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: who was just fired by the New York child's mid-season was pretty much telling John Horvall that, this is the next best thing since sliced bread and toilet paper, the Giants head coaching job.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: I have ever, and mind you, I'm young.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm 26.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know a lot about previous head coaching cycles within the last seven to eight years.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: I can tell you that for sure.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think within the last decade, I've ever seen a fired head coach speak very well of the organization that fired him a couple months prior.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense, right, especially when he was made the scapegoat on the entire season.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: And Joe Shane is still there.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that makes no sense to me at all either.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that seems like almost made up as well.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, these are just reports that dare I say, not to put on my tin foil hat here.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: I have my, my, my, my, my intro Miami hat.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't have a tin foil hat ready.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: If I had one, I'd be wearing it right now.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Are the all these reports being planted by the giants, just to make themselves look better?
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: And there's to make themselves look better.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to, they're trying to will it into existence?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: Because it seems like all of these reports are like massaged and planted by them.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: And it seems like they think that this is all making them look better.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not, it's making them look desperate.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm John Harbaugh, if you're John Harbaugh and you're looking at this, you're probably looking at this saying, guys, a little weird, right?
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: This is a big weird.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: What these guys are doing.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, does he really want to handle the New York media?
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the Baltimore media compared to the New York media.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's a very, very big difference because right now, the New York media, you know, it's slobbering all over him.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: because he will bring them back to the Promised Land.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: He will give them five straight lumbarities.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he's the hottest thing right now.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: New York will always want the hottest thing right now.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: And John Harbo is actually not like that.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's not the type of person that will go for the hype, the glitz, the glamour.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I might be wrong, but I feel like a better option for John Harba, if he really, really wants to stamp his legacy, if he really wants to build his thing, it might be a good decision for him to either go to Tennessee,
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, could you imagine him going to Pittsburgh, bringing in Greg Roman, actually getting a decent quarterback in the first round or second round, the defensive structure is there, right?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: He can bring in, you know, decent to really good assisted coaches that can coach the offense and defensive side of the ball and he can manage it.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: John Harbleau's coaching tree is not super vast.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's got some guys in there, right?
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: That have worked under him that had become a coach here or two there or defensive coordinators, offensive coordinators here and there, but he really relies on his offensive coaches and defensive coaches and the staff.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Pittsburgh needs that.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a storage franchise and he'll be back in the AFC North.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: He knows how to handle the AFC North.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: If he wants to be set up for success, you know, the Steelers most likely will not have Aaron Rogers.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to have a new quarterback.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: They have it running game.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: They have a decent
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: yeah like that makes the most sense right and they don't fire coaches so like right now everybody's asking oh everybody keeps asking you know one of the best what are the best jobs well i tried to explain this on on twitter the other day and oddly enough i didn't get much pushback a lot of people tend to agree with me on this if you want to know which is the worst job that's available right now it's the ravens job and you know why the ravens job
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: So whoever goes there has to live up to what John Harbaugh did there, or you're probably going to get fired, and the expectations are through the roof there, the expectations there are to go to a Super Bowl and win it, or else, right?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: Now Pittsburgh, if you're going to talk about what's the best job, Pittsburgh is now the best job, they don't fire coaches, they haven't fired a coach in 57 years.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: So, you get a job there.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: You might be there for 20 years.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: You'll never get fired.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, John Hardboard, Pittsburgh kind of makes a lot of sense.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Although, they have some of the same issues.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna have, they have.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: like cap hell on the way.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Omar Khan is a very good general manager.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like he does some odd things.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: That in, you know, like getting John who Smith and extension deal.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: And then considering him, a lynxman for the trade, fair to say, Miami wouldn't that trade.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: Mink of his Patrick is still a serviceable player.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: Had a good season in my estimation.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he deserved to be an alternate for the proble.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Jail Ramsey was not good this year.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: And he was playing a new position.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: John who's left was probably the worst time I had in the football.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: So that tells you all you need to know.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: That was a bad trade.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like that roster going forward.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: They have some nice players on defense.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: He was probably going to be retiring.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: And that's going to leave you a gaping hole at defensive tackle.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: TJ Watts been injured often.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's some nice defensive players.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: I have a couple of nice offensive players.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: That offensive line needs help.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: They need a new running back room.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like that roster, but as far as a job, it's the best job available.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it just is.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: There is no better job available right now.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm being told that he's not considering, you know, Arizona or Cleveland, just because of, you know, the job and the ownership group.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll leave it at that.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: I was on.

- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: 5,000 times your cash.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: This week on Underdog, I'm looking at the build Broncos and selecting Josh Allen for higher than 45 rushing yards.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how his wide receiver core is going to look like in Denver, but I do think he is going to have to scramble.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I'm going higher than 45 rushing yards for Josh Allen.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: So what are you waiting for?

- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: In New York, call the 24-7 Hopeline at 1-877-8 Hop and Y, or text Hop and Y for 6-7-369.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we talked a lot about
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: some of the coaching opportunities across the NFL, but we haven't really talked about the Miami Dolphins yet, and we'll get a little bit more in-depth with that for the next scouting, the Fin show, but out.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any information or rumors on who the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins would be?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the most obvious smoke is on Jeff Haffley, defense coordinator of the Green Bay Packers.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: He was mentioned early on in the process by several incitars.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: It was rumored that that's a guy who Troy Ackman respects and has recommended and he is going to interview.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we do know that.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: We've also had reports and I think all these reports are pretty much all over the place.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: We have reports to say, Miami's all in on John Harbour, the best demand that they want.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: then there's other reports that say the clinkoobieck made a good impression so we really don't know like there's a lot of smoke what we do know is a chemist's fanski got the first interview in person and clinkoobieck got his interview through zoom
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a difference there.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it's fair that, you know, Clint Kubiak is that Seattle, so, you know, he has to be preparing for their first, their, their division around matchup.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: This is coming weekend against the 49ers.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: So he's probably not going to be catching planes across the country to Miami to interview.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm also pretty certain he's not going to be given the job without an in-person interview.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: So that's something that bears monitoring.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think Seattle is going to beat the 49ers this weekend, 49ers is just way too injured to get past this wrong.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: If they beat them this past weekend, I don't think my name is just gonna sit around forever.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: And they're gonna want to get that interview in.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I would expect Klinkubiak to interview probably a Monday of the following week in person down here.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: If not, I think you could probably cross off his name.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that the biggest indicator we have so far is that Kevin Safansky did have the first interview and in person.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: So that makes a lot of sense as far as if we're gonna have a leader in the clubhouse.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I guess you gotta have the leader in the clubhouse B, whoever has the first in person interview and that's Kevin Safansky.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: But that's pretty much all we have right now.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of conflicting reports pretty much everywhere.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: Has it always been this way with the Miami Dolphins?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: However, they interviewed first.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's the coach they're going to hire.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, did Mike Danyl interview first at Cam Cameron?
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Interview first, did Adam Gaseon, Brian Flores?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: Well, now we're talking about the Steven Ross era.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's three for three right now.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure before then.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm pretty certain that it's been Adam Gaze, Bryan Flores, and Mike McDaniel, we're all the first interview in person, and all three got the job.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's, that's in the Stephen Ross era.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember before then.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know Stephen Ross if Philbin was the first guy that he interviewed or not, but of the last three coaches, those last three were the first to interview and all three got the job.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Personally, I would not have Kevin Stephansky that high on the list.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: I would actually have Flint Kubiak over Stephansky, because of the similarity of the scheme.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: And how many coaches
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Clint Kubiak has coached under.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's been with so many different coaches, you know, ready from Mike Sherman to Mike McDonald.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, right?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's seen different versions of offenses and defenses and has adapted it, you know, Seattle,
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: this year and even Denver before last year when he was in Denver, which Sean Payton, it's not the same exact offense.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he's able to adjust on the flight.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that the players that Miami has on offense pretty much suits that scheme with some minor tweaks.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're not going to be
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: would he want to retain Anthony Weaver and that defensive staff, or would he try to put someone else from Seattle, or would he potentially, and this is my theory,
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: You can I'm putting my tin foil hat on but what if he grabs Jim Leonard from Denver and I have been a very big proponent of Jim Leonard as a defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins even before Anthony weaver did his interview last year in Miami.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big fan of his and I've been saying it for a very very long time, by the way, I'm looking this up and Adam Gace was the fifth person to interview that year as far as Brian Flores.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: I believe he was the first and so was Mike McDaniel, but those are just the last two.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: So they didn't seem to be any any trend building there.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's just the last two head coaches that were hired.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah Jim Leonard's a guy who I've been talking about forever.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's like the next big thing as far as defense coordinator and as far as his scheme it fits in with what a lot of guys are doing now.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's a heavy pressure five guy.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to play a lot of cover three So he fits right in.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's like almost cookie cutter to what these guys are all doing now Just he mentor Jeff Hathley and then he weaver for that that matter What thing I do find interesting and I like to get European in on this and then we were has not interviewed for the job yet It almost seems like they're hoping that he gets taken by one of these teams So they could get their two-third rompix, right?
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, why not?
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you are doing a full organizational reset, why are you going to want to keep at least one guy or two guys and the rest of the staff over?
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure, you know, New General Manager John Eric Sullivan, he might have higher regards for Anthony Weaver, but he might want to start the coaching staff fresh.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: I guess you can say, you know, that stain on the team still left over.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like if Steven Ross is actually following the blueprint to clean house, then Anthony Weaver cannot stay.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: And if he leaves gets another opportunity somewhere else, as it had coach, whether be with.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: Baltimore Ravens, the Arizona car nulls, the Cleveland Browns, maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers, unit, two third-brom picks.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's extra draft picks.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: You can use those draft picks to trade up or and get your guys or under John Eric Sullivan's philosophy, build the breath and build the depth of your team through the draft.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I completely agree and yeah, I am for like if you're going to bring in a new coaching staff, don't have too many holdovers and I think that that's an important thing to note here.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: When they interview these guys, it's not about hey, what's your philosophy on 31 or you know, what kind of defensive scheme do you like and what's your run scheme look like?
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that's not the question.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: The questions are going to most of the questions are going to be about who are you bringing with you?
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to be your running best coach?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: What do you like to coach DBs?
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: Which type of difference is scheme to you like?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you like this defensive scheme?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: What coaches do you have in mind that you can bring in?
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Because one of the most important things, and this is something that Mike McDaniel deserves a lot of credit for.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: And Brian Flores deserves none.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: One could build a staff, the other one didn't know what he was doing.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: And essentially Brian Flores didn't know what he was doing with his staff.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: Not even his defensive staff because he kept firing his defensive backscoaches every single year as well.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: And including his last year, when he had a pretty damn good ones, they ended up sticking around another year.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: under Josh Boyer and then ended up going to Philadelphia.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: So he actually had some good some good coaches under him and he was just going to get rid of him.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: Mike McDaniel, that's one thing he did do and one thing that I did like about Mike McDaniel is when he brought in a defensive scheme, he had Josh Boyer, he let Josh Boyer.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: essentially have free reign on that side of the ball and that's part of the problem as well why Mike McDaniel is no longer here is that he was essentially head coach of half the team and not even half the team was head coach of a third of the team he isn't to coach the offense and let his other coaches essentially be the head coach of the defense and the special teams
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: But one thing I do respect is when he brought in a defensive coordinator, he let them have his guys.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: The fanjo came in, he told the fanjo, you could get your guys, bring your guys in.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then Anthony, we were as well.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: Anthony, we were organized his own staff.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: So that's going to be key.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: Who can build a staff?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of coaches do you have on the way in?
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, who's already attached to you?
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: Who can you guarantee?
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: So, those are important things.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: Out of all the coaches out there, I think you could reasonably expect that John Harbour is gonna have the easiest time to build a staff.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's another thing, job security is part of it.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like if you're your first time head coach and you're a coach out there, that's in somewhat demand.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, you have two or three offers.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: You're not gonna go with the first time head coach.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna go with like John Harbour.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: You need to go with the guy who's more reasonably going to be there for a while.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: You're probably going to go to Pittsburgh, if the guy from Pittsburgh offers you the job, whoever Pittsburgh offers the coaching job to.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is also an advantage that we have.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the pool before Pittsburgh is.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because like I said, Pittsburgh is the best job here going because they don't fire coaches.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: And so, job security is going to be a huge thing for them.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of leaders on my personal list for coaches.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: I obviously talked about Clink Obiak, John Harva, is one.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, and I'm not the biggest fan of Jeff Haffley just yet because I don't know who he'll be able to bring over from Green Bay.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: He also has encroached a lot in the NFL.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's done some stuff.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: in college, but nothing screams, oh my god, like this could be the next guy that could build a staff and bring stability in the organization for Jeff Hathley.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: The guy who actually screams it for me was a former adcoach and it's Robert Solid.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, he inherited an absolute dumpster fire in New York was given no help at all.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the jets are going to jet, right?
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to be absolute trash heap year in and year out.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, look at Aaron Glenn's tenure.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: this year.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: Look at his tenure this year.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Not everything is Aaron Glenn's fault and it falls into the hands of the front office and ownership.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: Fortunately for the dolphins, no expense,
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a reporter that Miami does not necessarily want a macho guy and alpha guy, but Robert Salah.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Salah is one of them.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: He can build out a staff.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: He can learn from his mistakes and he can bring a shannon hand type of guy for the offense deck and run the offense very similarly as well.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: And he brings stability in a way.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you take a look at the injuries, the defensive side of the ball, the 49ers have
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: they're in the playoffs.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're headed, I think they're headed to Seattle, right?
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Very injured, but they still have a chance of potentially winning that game even with all those injuries being decimated.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's his testament, the staff he has on the defensive side of the ball.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of the top three guys in my personal list right now.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: As far as the first time head coaches, who would you consider to be a guy that you would you would be in on of the first time head coaches?
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: Because the one that intrigues me is Crink who would be like, that's the one that intrigues me of the first time head coaches.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now, naturally it will be the third time that we do this, okay?
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Although Adam Gays wasn't really kind of calling plays and Mike McDaniel technically wasn't calling plays.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: Clean Kubiak is so there's a slight difference there.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of intrigued with Clean Kubiak.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: of the first time head coaches, what's say you I 100% agree.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: I am as an on-plane Kubeeak as the next guy.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you want the next great hot shot guy and it's been, you know,
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: great for most organizations, not the Miami Dolphins just yet, but it's even Ross really going to go for a hot shot newbie when he's done that the last three times.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if he does it again, it might as well be insanity at this point, but you know, when I was maybe Clint Kubiak can be the guy.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we'll leave it at that.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys for joining us here on Scouting the Finn.
