- 0:52Speaker 1: She's a former companion, but it was just feet picks
- 0:54Speaker 1: in college. It's Audra Stephenson.

- 1:08Speaker 1: the twenty sixth. She's the heart of every theater group
- 1:11Speaker 1: we've been a part of, so I can only assume
- 1:13Speaker 1: she knows how to fix a complex space engine. It's
- 1:16Speaker 1: Jennifer Carrest. Hello, Hello, Welcome as always, Audra, Welcome for
- 1:21Speaker 1: the first time, jen thanks for being here.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Thank you for having me.
- 1:25Speaker 1: It's so fun, so right up top of the question.
- 1:28Speaker 1: We always ask. This is our Firefly episode. We're talking
- 1:30Speaker 1: about Firefly today, Jen, I think we'll start with you.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Are you a Firefly fan?
- 1:35Speaker 5: Huge, huge firefire flan?
- 1:37Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:37Speaker 5: Yeah, nice, Yeah, it's my comfort show.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Oh perfect. So you've seen this a lot of times? Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you could be a lot.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Obsessed. Stop asking?
- 1:51Speaker 1: So have you been a fan this the whole time
- 1:53Speaker 1: that it's been on? Did it first are in two
- 1:55Speaker 1: thousand and two? Am I getting that right?
- 1:57Speaker 3: Sure?
- 1:57Speaker 5: Sure? No, No, I didn't start out as a fan.
- 2:00Speaker 7: It looks silly to me in the in the adverts,
- 2:03Speaker 7: but then it re ran on the Sci Fi Channel
- 2:06Speaker 7: and that's when we gave it a shot, and that's
- 2:07Speaker 7: when we fell madly in love. I think they're doing
- 2:09Speaker 7: like a Firefly marathon and we were hooked right away.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Oh and I suppose with only one season, it's.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Just a moderate commitment.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Yeah, so much.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Oh that's fantastic. Okay, I think you're gonna be You're
- 2:25Speaker 1: gonna be good at these games today. I think if
- 2:27Speaker 1: someone who's seen Firefly a few times but not.
- 2:29Speaker 5: A lot, y'all are going down.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And oldra What about yourself? Are you a Firefly fan,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you would not believe.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Your eyes if ten thousand fireflies. I have seen serenity,
- 2:47Speaker 4: and I've seen I've been exposed through general osmosis to
- 2:51Speaker 4: Firefly Okay for a long old time, just being in
- 2:56Speaker 4: general fandom spaces in the culture. Yeah, you know, And
- 3:00Speaker 4: so I'm hoping that that osmosis is gonna actually have
- 3:04Speaker 4: me pull any amount of weight.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Jed, I think you might have to help Audra
- 3:11Speaker 1: here with this one. But you know, maybe you'll pull
- 3:15Speaker 1: something from it. There'll be some serenity stuff.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Absolutely, I can do that. Yes, I'm sure, of course
- 3:21Speaker 4: you can. I have complete faith in you both. But
- 3:25Speaker 4: you will need an alliance to face or a confederacy.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Let's find out. Let's see who's who they are A writer, actor,
- 3:32Speaker 4: and performer. Follow at rickety fidgets across social media for
- 3:35Speaker 4: the latest shows. She's a mentally unstable psychotic weapon intended
- 3:39Speaker 4: for secret governmental use. And yes, she's got an arrogant brother.
- 3:44Speaker 4: It's Aidan Watson.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Hello, and he is a musician, a gate Leapers regular,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and a giant nerd in that he's tall and just
- 3:52Speaker 1: a bit of a nerd. He oscillates between neopanic and
- 3:56Speaker 1: Zen like calm. He likes dinosaurs and his wife is
- 3:59Speaker 1: more competent than him. It's Chris, right, yay, and you.
- 4:03Speaker 8: Know, yeah, you're right. You're right to carry me to
- 4:06Speaker 8: watch immediately, right, It's fair. I get it and I
- 4:11Speaker 8: appreciate it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Honestly, I took a punt on dinosaurs. I don't know.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I just assume everyone likes dinosaurs, you know, no.
- 4:17Speaker 8: Yeah, no, totally, uh for sure.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone that we know, like, oh, welcome back, Aidan
- 4:24Speaker 1: and Chris. So good to have you both here. Aidan,
- 4:27Speaker 1: We'll start with you. You are you a Firefly fan?
- 4:30Speaker 9: I am? I am a big Firefly fan. Similar to
- 4:33Speaker 9: what other people have said, like heard about it a
- 4:35Speaker 9: long time ago and kind of was just like it
- 4:38Speaker 9: ran for one season, how good can it be? And
- 4:41Speaker 9: then I think, in like twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, just
- 4:44Speaker 9: before I went off to university, I like gave it
- 4:47Speaker 9: a chance and fell madly in love with it and
- 4:50Speaker 9: have seen every episode at least three times. Nice I
- 4:55Speaker 9: said I would binge it for this episode. I didn't
- 4:58Speaker 9: have the time. So I've watched episode three this morning,
- 5:02Speaker 9: and that's where we're at because I've watched the first
- 5:07Speaker 9: two episodes so many times in trying to show it
- 5:09Speaker 9: to other people, I was like, I'm just going to
- 5:10Speaker 9: skip those. I know what happens in them. And then
- 5:14Speaker 9: I've watched episode three and was like, oh, I've got
- 5:16Speaker 9: to be on the podcast in like two hours. I
- 5:19Speaker 9: have time to watch more.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, who has time for binging TV shows? Binging TV shows?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Remember the DVD box set days of just being able
- 5:28Speaker 1: to throw one of those bad boys on and waste
- 5:31Speaker 1: away the time.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Time.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Okay, so you've seen it a few times, aiden that's
- 5:36Speaker 1: that's gonna be some good knowledge, I think, Chris, what
- 5:39Speaker 1: about yourself? Are you a Firefly fan?
- 5:41Speaker 8: Yeah? I'm a fan, honestly. Yeah, exact same as everybody else.
- 5:46Speaker 8: Didn't watch it when it was airing. I watched the
- 5:49Speaker 8: show for the first time, I think also in twenty twelve.
- 5:53Speaker 8: It was my I was taking a semester off of
- 5:55Speaker 8: college and trying to figure out what to do with
- 5:57Speaker 8: my life and house sitting for for some family friends,
- 6:01Speaker 8: and I binged the entire thing and it was and it, yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 8: changed my life.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And that's how a space cowboy now.
- 6:07Speaker 8: And that's how I became a space cowboy. I went
- 6:09Speaker 8: back to school to get my Space Cowboy degree, and
- 6:14Speaker 8: yeah it was. I still haven't watched it like a ton,
- 6:20Speaker 8: but I very lovingly watched the television when it is on,
- 6:25Speaker 8: So I think that counts for something.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, totally, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's all you
- 6:30Speaker 1: need to be a fun is casually. So I died
- 6:33Speaker 1: the television and then.
- 6:35Speaker 8: And I was able to binge it because I worked
- 6:37Speaker 8: from home and I can just put it on the
- 6:39Speaker 8: TV in the background. And so I guess, I guess
- 6:45Speaker 8: shouts out to my work from Homers.
- 6:53Speaker 1: No solo diarity that from the rest of the time.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I'm sorry, No, I should have been there with you,
- 7:00Speaker 4: adds on me.
- 7:03Speaker 5: If anyone should take that.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Heat, it's me.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Good stuff, Okay, teams hop aboard this hunk of junk
- 7:10Speaker 1: always has room for more stowaways. But you're gonna need
- 7:13Speaker 1: some nicknames aboard the ship. So some kind of catchy
- 7:17Speaker 1: branding that makes you guys stick out after nearly twenty
- 7:20Speaker 1: five years. So I'd like each pair to come up
- 7:22Speaker 1: with a firefly themed team name. Please, Ordra Jen, do
- 7:26Speaker 1: you have any ideas for a good quiz themed team name?
- 7:30Speaker 5: Now, I think came up with something brilliant. That's a
- 7:34Speaker 5: that's a.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Big that's a big.
- 7:40Speaker 8: I had.
- 7:40Speaker 4: I had three and in no zero order. I was
- 7:44Speaker 4: going to try to put them in some funnier order,
- 7:47Speaker 4: but I can't make that decision. First one Space Cowboys, Space.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Cowboys, Yeah, shows follow them.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Justice for Miranda is my second one, and then the
- 7:59Speaker 4: Nathan filmy in. It's just a very handsome man. I
- 8:05Speaker 4: just had to throw it out there.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's the best offering, I think, Jen.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Do you have any ideas for a team name?
- 8:12Speaker 5: I can't top Nathan feeling, So we're.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Going with the Nathan film me ins?
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so blue so early will you we can
- 8:23Speaker 4: anyone who feels uncomfortable saying that kN just refer to
- 8:26Speaker 4: him by his name.
- 8:27Speaker 5: No, no, no, thank you properly, thank you.
- 8:31Speaker 4: This is the type of this is the type of
- 8:33Speaker 4: bolstering I need. You have to say it. That's the
- 8:36Speaker 4: team name.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Damn, your comforts are right?
- 8:40Speaker 1: Okay, perfect? So we have the Nathan film ins. Let's
- 8:44Speaker 1: find out who they're going to be facing, Aidan Chris.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Any ideas I just I'm realizing, Am I the team captain?
- 8:51Speaker 1: Like you are the team captain? Okay?
- 8:53Speaker 9: This is the first I've learned of that, my captain,
- 8:58Speaker 9: I rely on you. I'm I'm no mal just just
- 9:06Speaker 9: just a peak of the referential humor that you're going
- 9:08Speaker 9: to get in the.
- 9:09Speaker 8: Rest of it's excellent stuff.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Snip.
- 9:14Speaker 9: So I probably should have had done it done as
- 9:18Speaker 9: as diligently a job as order, and had like a
- 9:20Speaker 9: list of stuff ready to go. The only one I
- 9:22Speaker 9: thought of actually compliments the other team's name really well.
- 9:27Speaker 9: It's also a play on an actor's name with an
- 9:29Speaker 9: innuendo in it. My suggestion is Alan's two Dicks.
- 9:36Speaker 8: I mean, that's immediately up there for me, both of them.
- 9:47Speaker 8: I do have a list of names. I don't know
- 9:48Speaker 8: if they're as good as that one. That is pretty solid.
- 9:51Speaker 8: I'll just I'll just rattle these off real quick. Anything
- 9:54Speaker 8: sticks out. So I have pre high school musical zac
- 9:58Speaker 8: Efron's Goose Jugglers, The Settled Space Colonies of Southern California
- 10:08Speaker 8: are a little wordy blue Hands group, the Forgotten Baldwins,
- 10:17Speaker 8: and the Space Dennis Reynolds Horrible Death, uh for for
- 10:24Speaker 8: for Dennis Reynolds the in Serenity. But I don't know.
- 10:28Speaker 8: I think Alan two Dicks is my favorite.
- 10:33Speaker 9: I should clarify, it's Allan's two dicks, so we are
- 10:36Speaker 9: the two dicks that belonged to Allen.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, I thought that I was just learning something
- 10:41Speaker 4: about Allan, okay, but then I ended up learning something
- 10:44Speaker 4: different about Alan.
- 10:47Speaker 8: And the you know, we don't know, we don't know
- 10:50Speaker 8: for sure. Uh, only he can confirm that for us.
- 10:55Speaker 9: So and as we all know, he's a big listener
- 10:57Speaker 9: of gate Leapers, so I'm sure he'll.
- 10:59Speaker 8: Email yes, let one or two Alan hately bersa gmail
- 11:06Speaker 8: dot com.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Thanks, Chris, I'll read it out on the bonus round.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Excellent promo for our always open in box. So we
- 11:15Speaker 1: have the perfectly balanced and match team names here. I
- 11:18Speaker 1: love the references between the two of you, the Nathan
- 11:21Speaker 1: filmians versus Allen's two dix all right, And if you're
- 11:28Speaker 1: listening to this and thinking I missed Firefly the first
- 11:31Speaker 1: time around, and now that we know the subtexts of
- 11:34Speaker 1: Joss Whedon's writing, it's not exactly high on my list,
- 11:37Speaker 1: don't worry. His audra with a little segment we like
- 11:40Speaker 1: to call passing knowledge.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Firefly is a two thousand and two American space western
- 11:45Speaker 4: TV series created by writer and director Joss Whedon. The
- 11:50Speaker 4: series is set after the arrival of humans in a
- 11:53Speaker 4: new star system in the year twenty five seventeen, which
- 11:57Speaker 4: is also allegedly the age range Joss Whedon set his
- 12:00Speaker 4: dating profiles too. The show and subsequent film in two
- 12:06Speaker 4: thousand and five, explores the adventures of the Renegade crew
- 12:09Speaker 4: of Serenity, a Firefly class spaceship who made a living
- 12:13Speaker 4: on the fringes of space society as part of the
- 12:15Speaker 4: star system's pioneer culture, except with less dysentery, which interestingly
- 12:22Speaker 4: is an anagram of Serenity. Ah, it isn't, but you've
- 12:27Speaker 4: thought about it for a second, there didn't.
- 12:30Speaker 5: My mind was blown.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Fox intentionally aired the show out of order in the
- 12:36Speaker 4: least desirable time slot, driving it to be canceled part
- 12:39Speaker 4: way through its first season. You know, just in case
- 12:42Speaker 4: you needed another reason to hate Fox. Fans loved the
- 12:47Speaker 4: show for many reasons, including the charm of the characters
- 12:50Speaker 4: and the world building, and the backdrop of the fallout
- 12:53Speaker 4: from an American coded civil war. I mean, not the
- 12:57Speaker 4: first Civil War or the second Civil War that's about
- 12:59Speaker 4: to happen, but like the fifth or sixth one. Now,
- 13:04Speaker 4: let's float like a leaf on the wind into pandemonium.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yes, thank you, Ordra, I'm so glad, you said allegedly. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: just before we get to today's games, I've asked each
- 13:20Speaker 1: player to bring in a muse, something that inspires them
- 13:23Speaker 1: or something they love from this particular fandom. Firefly is
- 13:26Speaker 1: inspiring to me because they only have to work for
- 13:29Speaker 1: one year to enjoy a quarter of a century of
- 13:32Speaker 1: cult popularity, whereas I'll be doing this for a quarter
- 13:35Speaker 1: of a century before having one kind of good year. Chris,
- 13:39Speaker 1: let's start with you. What's inspiring you from the world
- 13:42Speaker 1: of Lightning? But sorry, Firefly, there are a lot of
- 13:48Speaker 1: different things. I've been kind of weighing the different options.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I'll just go with the kind of the not serious one,
- 13:57Speaker 1: which is the game star Field. Okay, everybody hates it.
- 14:01Speaker 8: I get it, Bethesda sucks whatever, call me a shill.
- 14:06Speaker 8: The developers of that game loved Firefly, and I didn't
- 14:10Speaker 8: realize that until rewatching the show. And there's so much
- 14:15Speaker 8: front that they just straight up pulled from Fireflight and
- 14:18Speaker 8: put into this video. Oh wow, and it's great. There
- 14:21Speaker 8: is the city they just rebranded, the Alliance, and the
- 14:24Speaker 8: independence they have, the same like space suits and all
- 14:28Speaker 8: that shit. And there's very much space cowboy stuff in
- 14:33Speaker 8: that game. And it's great. And I'm not saying go
- 14:37Speaker 8: get it or or support Bethesda. What I fucking loved it, Okay,
- 14:45Speaker 8: and now I'm probably gonna play it again after watching
- 14:47Speaker 8: the show, So that's gonna be mine.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Very good. Yeah, they probably just thought, look, how many
- 14:54Speaker 1: people remember this one season show from twenty Let's just
- 14:58Speaker 1: do it.
- 14:59Speaker 8: We're just gonna do it. Yeah, it's fine, nobody will
- 15:01Speaker 8: nobody will catch it. Only only the worst nerds would
- 15:05Speaker 8: catch it, So it's fine.
- 15:06Speaker 7: Yeah, the worst are the best nerds.
- 15:11Speaker 8: I more meant like just like when you're that level
- 15:13Speaker 8: of nerd and also playing that's more of what I
- 15:17Speaker 8: you yourself. Yeah, yeah, I'm the problem here.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Fantastic. That's a that's a great mus The cycle of
- 15:26Speaker 1: culture continues. Let's move on over to your Alan's two
- 15:32Speaker 1: Dicks teammates A what's inspiring you from Firefly?
- 15:35Speaker 9: I had like two things. Both have been mentioned already
- 15:39Speaker 9: so far. The first one was Glenn Howardon's like brief
- 15:43Speaker 9: role at the start of the film Serenity, where as
- 15:46Speaker 9: Chris said he like he appears as like this really
- 15:50Speaker 9: obnoxious guy and then just gets butchered within like thirty
- 15:53Speaker 9: seconds of screen time, and it's fantastic, And like I
- 15:57Speaker 9: forget every time I watch it that he's in the
- 15:59Speaker 9: open like ten minutes of the film, and I'm just like,
- 16:02Speaker 9: oh yeah, oh yeah, every time it happens. But then also,
- 16:08Speaker 9: like I also wanted to shout out o our namesake,
- 16:12Speaker 9: Alan tu Dick. He is one of my favorite workers
- 16:15Speaker 9: in the Beast of Hollywood as an actor myself. He's
- 16:20Speaker 9: really inspiring in terms of like how like humble and
- 16:24Speaker 9: versatile he is. Like he's getting that Disney money. He
- 16:28Speaker 9: like every time Disney are doing a film, they're just like, oh,
- 16:30Speaker 9: we we have a chicken. Who should we get to
- 16:33Speaker 9: do the noises for that? Let's get Alan. Yeah, And
- 16:35Speaker 9: like he gets paid more money than any of us
- 16:38Speaker 9: will ever see to do that. And the fact that
- 16:41Speaker 9: he started out in like this like really struggling like
- 16:46Speaker 9: sci fi show in the in the early noughties, and
- 16:48Speaker 9: now he's like at the point that he's at where
- 16:50Speaker 9: he can make a TV show about how badly his
- 16:53Speaker 9: career went after that and that does successfully as well. Yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 9: it's just great. It's like a nice little sixth story
- 17:01Speaker 9: and like I also fancy him a little bit, and
- 17:04Speaker 9: that's fine, it's it's more than fine.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Honestly, there'd be something wrong. Yeah, there would be something
- 17:10Speaker 4: wrong if you didn't.
- 17:11Speaker 9: I'd like because like Alan to the guy, handsome man.
- 17:14Speaker 9: I think there's just something about like the impeccable wife
- 17:16Speaker 9: guy energy he brings as wash that is just it's
- 17:20Speaker 9: it's Stella Joey god Zoey you know.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Mm hmm, totally exactly. Yeah, that's both of those muses
- 17:29Speaker 1: are great. But your team's namesake. Yeah, Alan two Dicks
- 17:32Speaker 1: always seemed like a cool guy. And as as you say, now,
- 17:35Speaker 1: that did just like voicing like literally a character that
- 17:38Speaker 1: doesn't even need any kind of like. I mean, obviously
- 17:42Speaker 1: it takes a lot of skill to be able to
- 17:43Speaker 1: comedically play a chicken, but other actors would have passed
- 17:47Speaker 1: up on that and looked at it, looked down on
- 17:49Speaker 1: it as like I'm not wasting my time voicing a chicken.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Alan's straight there and getting all angles of this chicken's
- 17:56Speaker 1: emotion inside.
- 17:57Speaker 10: Huh levels, I didn't know it had exactly very inspirational stuff,
- 18:02Speaker 10: all right, we've heard from Alan's two Dicks now let's
- 18:06Speaker 10: hear from the Nathan film ins Jen.
- 18:09Speaker 1: What's inspiring you from the world of Firefly?
- 18:11Speaker 7: Oh man, the character work, yes, so good. If you
- 18:15Speaker 7: have not seen Firefly yet, don't start with a movie, you.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Guys, don't do it. Start with the pilot. It's so
- 18:24Speaker 5: brilliantly down.
- 18:25Speaker 7: The distinct voices of every single character is so so brilliant.
- 18:29Speaker 7: I can't emphasize that enough. And granted they had I
- 18:32Speaker 7: think more than an hour in the pilot, some one
- 18:35Speaker 7: could say they had a little bit easier in that regard,
- 18:38Speaker 7: but every character is very, very distinct, and there's generally speaking.
- 18:43Speaker 7: Kaylee is the exception, of course, but there's a lot
- 18:46Speaker 7: of grey areas in every single character, and yet you
- 18:48Speaker 7: still find them extremely charming and extremely likable, even though
- 18:52Speaker 7: you don't.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Know if they're good or bad or evil or whatever.
- 18:55Speaker 7: Shepherd book. But I think it's just brilliant writing. In
- 19:00Speaker 7: every single episode, no character ever loses their distinct voice.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the characters really do. You have incredibly distinct voices,
- 19:09Speaker 1: which is crucial in an ensemble piece.
- 19:11Speaker 7: Oh yeah, huge cast, yahuge cast. Yeah, And they maintain
- 19:15Speaker 7: every single character.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And luck I've I've only honestly seen serenity, but within
- 19:19Speaker 1: within fifteen minutes of serenity, I know who everyone is.
- 19:23Speaker 1: That's great stuff. Yeah. Always good to be inspired by
- 19:26Speaker 1: great writing. Which, yeah, we can rag on Joss Whed
- 19:30Speaker 1: all we want, and we will. He does kind of
- 19:33Speaker 1: know what he's doing with a screenplay. Yep, Okay, thank you, Jen,
- 19:37Speaker 1: brilliant muse. Last, but not least, let's find out what
- 19:40Speaker 1: the non Firefly fan. Yes, how are you inspired by
- 19:44Speaker 1: Firefly Ultra?
- 19:45Speaker 4: I am inspired by the companions in Firefly was alluded
- 19:50Speaker 4: to in my introduction. It was like it was great
- 19:55Speaker 4: for me in college. Feet picks did's pay off a
- 19:59Speaker 4: good portion of my student loans.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Just say, can I just clear up? Because now you
- 20:03Speaker 1: mentioned on the podcast that's not how we met.
- 20:05Speaker 5: That's not how we met. Clarification.
- 20:11Speaker 4: I said, that's not how we met really intensely, and
- 20:13Speaker 4: I the more intensely I say that, the less some
- 20:17Speaker 4: people are going.
- 20:18Speaker 1: To believe it.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But I love the portrayal of like high echelon, like
- 20:27Speaker 4: this is like a high status role because let me
- 20:30Speaker 4: just say, trying to take feet pics in a dorm
- 20:33Speaker 4: room to hide it from your ra because it's a
- 20:37Speaker 4: Christian School. I did not feel like an ambassador.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Excellent. Yeah, it's a it's a great bit of world building,
- 20:48Speaker 1: uh that they've got there. Then, yeah, I can't imagine
- 20:52Speaker 1: you felt felt very high status of respected by your
- 20:55Speaker 1: entire culture.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Not particularly, but I don't have student loans. Who's winning?
- 21:05Speaker 1: Okay? Very inspired by all of your muses, especially that
- 21:09Speaker 1: last one. But are we already for some games? Who sweet? Okay, teams,
- 21:16Speaker 1: let's head down to the planet and retrieve some precious
- 21:19Speaker 1: cargo aka points in round one. Round one is called
- 21:27Speaker 1: IMDb trivia, which this time stands for intentional misconduct by
- 21:32Speaker 1: director Boss many more jokes. Okay, it says I have
- 21:40Speaker 1: here a board with six words on it, so I
- 21:42Speaker 1: should probably grab that board. Done a little little kind
- 21:47Speaker 1: of what do you call that solar system program?
- 21:50Speaker 5: There's the orbits, there's.
- 21:53Speaker 1: The orbit lines there. So each of the words on
- 21:56Speaker 1: this board corresponds to a multiple choice trivia question about
- 22:00Speaker 1: firefly and or serenity, but not the comics, because we're
- 22:04Speaker 1: not nerds. We are nerds, but be warned. Sometimes the
- 22:09Speaker 1: words relate to the question directly, and sometimes the connection
- 22:12Speaker 1: is a little looser, or it could be a words
- 22:14Speaker 1: that's leading to you towards a more obvious bit of trivia,
- 22:17Speaker 1: but it's actually not really to do with that at all.
- 22:20Speaker 1: So the words we have on the board are plans, engine, clothes, disc, love,
- 22:28Speaker 1: and sample.
- 22:29Speaker 9: I feel like a sleeper agent has just been activated.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Somewhere somewhere in the world.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Going crazy.
- 22:41Speaker 1: We're going to start with the Nathan film in so
- 22:43Speaker 1: would you like to pick a word from this board?
- 22:47Speaker 5: Clothes?
- 22:48Speaker 4: Clothes. I'm down for that.
- 22:52Speaker 1: You like the look of clothes. Okay, here's your question
- 22:54Speaker 1: about clothes. The Alliance officer and soldier uniforms were left
- 22:59Speaker 1: over costume from which nineties sci fi movie. Is it
- 23:03Speaker 1: A Starship Troopers, B Event Horizon or C Wild Wild
- 23:09Speaker 1: West starring Big Willie Style.
- 23:15Speaker 11: Maybe I have no I yeah, let's go right, it
- 23:20Speaker 11: feels right, It's just there's something, Yes, A feels right, Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 11: going a Starship Troopers.
- 23:27Speaker 1: It is indeed Starship Teapers. Yes, good stuff.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Good, just getting in there right answers Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Easy, Yeah, this will be. You're gonna get all of.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Them right, Yeah, and I can definitely claim credit for it.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Okay, fantastic. Now we're gonna move on over to Allen's
- 23:47Speaker 1: two dicks?
- 23:48Speaker 9: What do you? What are you feeling, Chris.
- 23:51Speaker 8: I'm I'm in I'm not gonna lie. I'm intrigued by plans.
- 23:55Speaker 8: What are you?
- 23:55Speaker 9: I'm also intrigued by plans? Yeah, I want to find
- 23:57Speaker 9: out what that question is if nothing else.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, you're intrigued by the plans. Let's see what
- 24:03Speaker 1: your question about plans is. After the original pre production
- 24:07Speaker 1: blueprints for the ship had been lost, who recreated them
- 24:11Speaker 1: for the film Serenity so the production team could recreate
- 24:15Speaker 1: the destroyed set? Was it a Nathan Fillion, b Alan
- 24:20Speaker 1: tudic or c. Freddy Prince Junior. Freddy's involved in everything.
- 24:26Speaker 9: Yeah, he gets his he gets his little his grubby
- 24:29Speaker 9: little hands.
- 24:31Speaker 4: He's a nerdy little pause.
- 24:34Speaker 9: And it like it feels like something that he would
- 24:36Speaker 9: be able to do, Like it's just believable that, like,
- 24:40Speaker 9: ah ah shit, we need we need someone to rebuild
- 24:43Speaker 9: an entire set from memory. Yeah, redesign an entire set
- 24:46Speaker 9: from memory. Freddy, You'll remember.
- 24:49Speaker 8: Somebody called Freddy because I feel like him and him
- 24:53Speaker 8: and our namesake are would be the most likely to me.
- 24:58Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 25:00Speaker 9: I don't think Nathan Fillion has done any hard work
- 25:03Speaker 9: at day in as well.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Yeah, I love you, Nathan. I don't think that I
- 25:07Speaker 8: don't think you got this one.
- 25:11Speaker 9: I mean just for the sort of like out of
- 25:13Speaker 9: left fieldness of it, and like I hope I can
- 25:16Speaker 9: manifest it into being the right answer. I want to say,
- 25:18Speaker 9: Freddy Prince Junior, I'm down, let's lock it in.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I love it. You're going with Freddy Prince Jr. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: wish it was. The man has so many talents, not
- 25:28Speaker 1: just anyone could do Scooby Doo two Monsters late. It
- 25:33Speaker 1: was actually Nathan Fillion who recreated the blueprints.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Oh shit, Oh sorry, Nathan. We didn't believe in you
- 25:43Speaker 8: even a little bit.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I guess, so no point there, but I respect the
- 25:48Speaker 1: bold guess of Freddie Prince Jor. Okay, four words left
- 25:54Speaker 1: on the boards. I could be I could be rubbing
- 25:56Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I could be rubbing them off.
- 25:57Speaker 1: That's not the phrase.
- 26:01Speaker 5: That's the way man.
- 26:03Speaker 8: Either. Either phrase works for me.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I don't know what I have, not the one who
- 26:10Speaker 4: should be picking. But engine or disc you feel free
- 26:17Speaker 4: to overrule me. Okay, disc disc?
- 26:20Speaker 12: Yeah, going with discs means scared anything.
- 26:25Speaker 5: It's real.
- 26:27Speaker 1: But here's what it means. It means this question. In
- 26:29Speaker 1: what unusual place could you once find the DVDs for
- 26:33Speaker 1: Serenity and Firefly? Is it a a time capsule on
- 26:38Speaker 1: the Skywalker ranch that was dug up in twenty twenty
- 26:41Speaker 1: two b the White House screening room during the Obama administration,
- 26:46Speaker 1: or see the International Space Station?
- 26:49Speaker 4: Ah ooh, I know this one. I know this one.
- 26:54Speaker 8: Ry.
- 26:55Speaker 4: I think they've been to space. I think they've been
- 26:57Speaker 4: to space.
- 26:58Speaker 1: You think they've been to space?
- 26:59Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, I.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Just it's one of the things because I don't know
- 27:04Speaker 4: when you're a big fucking nerd in the ways that
- 27:09Speaker 4: I am. I've seen a lot of people floating in space,
- 27:12Speaker 4: just like photos of just like oh yeah, this is
- 27:15Speaker 4: these people and they did this, and I think one
- 27:17Speaker 4: of them was holding Firefly, and I was like, I
- 27:21Speaker 4: know that that's a thing.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I'm.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Such a cool move. I'm going to go to space
- 27:27Speaker 5: and bring my firefly.
- 27:30Speaker 4: If this is right, If this is right, I'm going
- 27:32Speaker 4: to be so yah.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Just to let you know, Jen, this is We've been
- 27:34Speaker 1: doing this podcast for four years. This is the most
- 27:36Speaker 1: confident I've ever seen order about anything. It's wrong.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I quit.
- 27:43Speaker 1: So happy to go with CEA International Space Station. It
- 27:46Speaker 1: is indeed, yes, good stuff. That's the point.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Well done, teammates.
- 27:52Speaker 4: I really wanted it to be in the White House, though,
- 27:54Speaker 4: and I was hearing that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I thought it was believable that Obama could be a
- 27:58Speaker 1: final He loved a lot of TV.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yeah. If I wouldn't have seen photos and have it
- 28:03Speaker 4: burned into my memory in some place, you could have
- 28:06Speaker 4: tricked me. I'm so sorry to take that away from you.
- 28:08Speaker 5: No, I was going to go with Obama. But I'm glad.
- 28:10Speaker 5: I'm glad you.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Knew we'd all always go with Obama if we could.
- 28:15Speaker 8: Yes.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Back off to Allan's two dicks. Three words left on
- 28:21Speaker 1: the board. We've got engine, love and sample.
- 28:24Speaker 9: What do you think in aiden, I'm thinking that we
- 28:27Speaker 9: can earn some points back with the power of love.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Hell yeah, here is your question related to love. In
- 28:34Speaker 1: twenty twelve, The New York Times reported on a couple
- 28:37Speaker 1: who were such big fans of Firefly that they had
- 28:40Speaker 1: a firefly themed wedding. But what other major life choice
- 28:44Speaker 1: did they make together? That week? They honeymooned in the
- 28:48Speaker 1: More Harvey Desert, visiting filming locations B. They both changed
- 28:53Speaker 1: their surname to Reynolds or see they adopted two dogs
- 28:57Speaker 1: named Shepherd and wash.
- 29:00Speaker 8: First of all, I feel attacked for using your honeymoon
- 29:03Speaker 8: to go to filming locations of your favorite franchise. So
- 29:09Speaker 8: just I just want to say, that's bullshit.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Man, I think we both did that right. I'm also
- 29:17Speaker 1: the problem.
- 29:20Speaker 8: Oh thank god.
- 29:23Speaker 9: The dog one feels like the lower stakes, like the
- 29:28Speaker 9: dog in the Honeymoon, So it doesn't feel like a
- 29:31Speaker 9: major life thing. Yeah, to do that, because like, who
- 29:35Speaker 9: doesn't love dogs? And like why would you not name
- 29:37Speaker 9: them after your favorite characters? And then like honeymooning in
- 29:43Speaker 9: the Mohave that that makes sense. But like as a
- 29:46Speaker 9: as a like big life decision getting married and like
- 29:50Speaker 9: changing your name to a different thing, I feel like
- 29:53Speaker 9: that's huge.
- 29:54Speaker 8: That's that's pretty wild. It's actually newsworthy rather than I
- 29:59Speaker 8: have done. Yeah, named after characters? Yeah, yeah, again something
- 30:04Speaker 8: I did. I did all of these except for change
- 30:06Speaker 8: my name.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Chris Beckens, which one are you going with?
- 30:16Speaker 8: Said?
- 30:16Speaker 4: All?
- 30:16Speaker 8: But the name? What do you think? I? Yeah, I'm
- 30:24Speaker 8: I'm with you. You think be's the most.
- 30:25Speaker 9: I think I think the name the name change.
- 30:28Speaker 1: B They both changed their surname to Reynolds. Yeah, absolutely
- 30:32Speaker 1: they did. That was the other thing featured in this article.
- 30:36Speaker 8: Wild Yeah, and.
- 30:39Speaker 9: It wasn't like neither of their name was Reynolds before this.
- 30:42Speaker 8: No.
- 30:43Speaker 9: I guess that's like a nice compromise.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think it's a good compromise.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I genuinely like this as someone who didn't change their
- 30:49Speaker 4: name when they got married. Like the concept of, oh,
- 30:52Speaker 4: I have to take someone else's name. Nah, everybody should
- 30:57Speaker 4: be switching it to some other last name.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, go for it.
- 31:01Speaker 8: Just a cool ass last name and go for it.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yea.
- 31:04Speaker 8: Yeah, respect honestly.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yep, definitely, that's good stuff. You got to point there.
- 31:10Speaker 8: We're on the board. We're on the board. Also, I'm
- 31:13Speaker 8: so sorry, add we probably will lose. We are on
- 31:16Speaker 8: a team together, and uh I lose.
- 31:19Speaker 9: So I'm sorry.
- 31:22Speaker 5: That's the spirit.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Back on over to Nathan Filmian's You've got engine, You've
- 31:29Speaker 1: got sample?
- 31:30Speaker 5: Well seem really difficult?
- 31:32Speaker 4: Yeah, are you?
- 31:33Speaker 5: Are you?
- 31:33Speaker 4: Is there any instinct in your heart that is guiding
- 31:36Speaker 4: you in any direction?
- 31:38Speaker 5: The instinct of fear is keeping away from engine.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Okay, let's go for sample sample Okay.
- 31:44Speaker 1: The Serenacy soundtrack samples music from which nineties video game?
- 31:49Speaker 1: Is it a StarCraft B Quake or C sid Maya's
- 31:55Speaker 1: Civilization Too.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I feel like I should know this because I do
- 32:00Speaker 4: listen to I work to video game soundtracks, so I
- 32:05Speaker 4: feel like I should know this, but I have zero concept.
- 32:09Speaker 1: This is the soundtrack from Serenity. Remind you of of
- 32:12Speaker 1: anything from from when you watch the film? Has it
- 32:17Speaker 1: got your quaking?
- 32:20Speaker 4: Got it got me?
- 32:22Speaker 1: Sid Dim, he's the only one.
- 32:24Speaker 8: That looks.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Let's go C C Sation T. Yeah. The other two
- 32:37Speaker 1: featuring quite heavy sci fi elements, but you're going, but
- 32:40Speaker 1: you're forgetting.
- 32:41Speaker 4: That this is like an expansive world. I think you're yeah,
- 32:45Speaker 4: you know, we're getting clay.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I am because it is.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Oh, there's a point it all along, deep down we
- 32:57Speaker 4: had this knowledge within us.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Okay, two dicks, you know what you've got. It's engine.
- 33:03Speaker 8: Let's do it.
- 33:04Speaker 1: What is the engine room's center console made from? As
- 33:09Speaker 1: a prop? Not like sci fi?
- 33:11Speaker 9: I was gonna say, like, oh, like tungsten.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Space metal?
- 33:19Speaker 1: Is it a the engine of a Ferrari F series B,
- 33:23Speaker 1: the engine of a Boeing seven three seven, or see
- 33:27Speaker 1: the engine of a Naboo Royal cruiser repurposed from nineteen
- 33:30Speaker 1: ninety nine's The Phantom Menace.
- 33:34Speaker 8: You can't just like bring like a full Mandalorian episode
- 33:38Speaker 8: in here, trying to trick me, man, whatever.
- 33:45Speaker 9: Yeah, that's my other dick. I mean, I was. I
- 33:51Speaker 9: was gonna say that the recycling of a Star Wars
- 33:54Speaker 9: props sounds like something that like would fit in with
- 33:57Speaker 9: the recycling of of like costumes and stuff from other productions.
- 34:01Speaker 8: But oh, yeah, that's true.
- 34:03Speaker 9: When you say, like the main console, do you mean
- 34:06Speaker 9: like the big thing in the middle of the room,
- 34:08Speaker 9: of the engine room.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I believe from memory of the picture.
- 34:12Speaker 9: Yes, okay, because I would say, like the airplane all
- 34:18Speaker 9: the the Naboo thing makes sense because it's it's pretty big. Yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 9: And I feel like it would be cheaper for this
- 34:29Speaker 9: production to just repurpose a prop that was already made
- 34:32Speaker 9: and being stored in a warehouse rather than purchase like
- 34:37Speaker 9: a disused Boeing engine, although the going rates for those
- 34:42Speaker 9: these days are probably.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Sure that would be a big flip.
- 34:47Speaker 8: Now, No, I agree, I do. I feel like the
- 34:51Speaker 8: Boeing one is a trick because it makes sense, and
- 34:56Speaker 8: I think Matt and I don't trust man.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair.
- 35:03Speaker 9: I love that the longer this show goes on, the
- 35:05Speaker 9: like the more people try and met a game, because
- 35:07Speaker 9: it's like, we know, Matt, how is he going to
- 35:10Speaker 9: try and trickers with this one?
- 35:14Speaker 1: My trick, My plan is I just don't change anything
- 35:16Speaker 1: about me at all. People think I'm playing games.
- 35:20Speaker 9: Just you get them to mind game themselves.
- 35:24Speaker 4: What if it's a quadruple bluff.
- 35:28Speaker 8: But if you no, no, no, go for it. I was
- 35:30Speaker 8: going to keep going with the bit and I kind
- 35:33Speaker 8: of forgot where I was going. So you yeah, you
- 35:35Speaker 8: take it.
- 35:36Speaker 9: Yeah, let's let's get down to serious business. I mean
- 35:42Speaker 9: I would, I would say see for the for the
- 35:44Speaker 9: repurposed Phantom Menace prop.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Hell, yeah, I agree going with see the engine of
- 35:50Speaker 1: an Aboo Royal Cruiser repurpose from nineteen ninety nine. It's
- 35:53Speaker 1: the Phantom Menace.
- 35:54Speaker 8: It's not.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. I was playing mind games and trying
- 35:58Speaker 1: to trick it is actually the engine of a Boeing
- 36:01Speaker 1: seven three seven son shit, Matt, I mean it explains
- 36:10Speaker 1: why the ship was like a hunker junk. He's a
- 36:15Speaker 1: Boeing engine.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Joss Whedon was actually trying to whistle blow.
- 36:21Speaker 8: Wow. These engines keeps keep going out on us. Huh,
- 36:25Speaker 8: that's crazy.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, first time Joss Whedon's been on that side of
- 36:33Speaker 1: a whistleblow. I don't have to say a legends for
- 36:39Speaker 1: that one. Okay, that is the end of round one.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Let's ask the intelligent doctor Simon Towm to calculate the
- 36:47Speaker 1: latest scores. He says he'll do it if I stop
- 36:50Speaker 1: describing him fair enough. The Nathan Filmians have three points.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Alan's two dicks have one point.
- 36:58Speaker 8: He's close.
- 37:01Speaker 9: Everyone loves an underdog story.
- 37:03Speaker 8: Oh yeah, exactly, we'll get it back.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Up next is round two, after these commercials for
- 37:10Speaker 1: fruity oat bars. As a vegetarian, fruity ot bars are
- 37:14Speaker 1: thirty eight percent of my diet. Back after this, Round
- 37:24Speaker 1: two is called flash Fick. It's the game where I
- 37:27Speaker 1: ask our teams to compose original pieces of flash fiction.
- 37:31Speaker 1: That's flash, not slash unless in turns. I will give
- 37:38Speaker 1: our teams a prompt to get a fix started, a
- 37:41Speaker 1: first line that should hopefully spark some inspiration of a
- 37:45Speaker 1: direction to take the story, and then, one word at
- 37:48Speaker 1: a time, back and forth between teammates, players will create
- 37:53Speaker 1: some original Firefly fan fiction points for your story out
- 37:58Speaker 1: of five, but you can score bonus point by including
- 38:01Speaker 1: the word you spin on the word wheel.
- 38:09Speaker 9: That was actually the original wheel of fortune.
- 38:15Speaker 1: It's what it's illegitimate. Children. The words generated by a
- 38:21Speaker 1: random word generator that I have for you today are sugar, buffet, choke, photocopy, dealer, equinox, proposal,
- 38:32Speaker 1: and crabs. So we are going to begin with the
- 38:35Speaker 1: Nathan film me ins before I give you your prompt to
- 38:39Speaker 1: get you started on your fan fiction. Would one if
- 38:42Speaker 1: you like to spin the wheel, see which word you get?
- 38:44Speaker 5: Yeah, really big many, big money.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Big money. I wonder what big money is in?
- 38:50Speaker 8: Is it crabs?
- 38:50Speaker 1: Is that big money? Foremost, what have we got there?
- 38:54Speaker 1: I would say that's proposal. I think proposal is what
- 38:57Speaker 1: we've got there. So if you can include the word proposal,
- 39:00Speaker 1: I will give you your point and your prompt is
- 39:02Speaker 1: this Shepherd book finally spoke and offered to share the
- 39:06Speaker 1: parable of the oil Lamp and the fish Wife Take
- 39:10Speaker 1: it away.
- 39:11Speaker 6: There was a dark night where the crew needed sleep period.
- 39:23Speaker 6: The reavers were approaching period yep, but hope still lingered
- 39:35Speaker 6: in the hearts of all who.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Rested deep within the ship.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I'm going to stop you there, Okay, one more sentence
- 40:01Speaker 1: take away.
- 40:02Speaker 12: Mal suggested a proposal that they compromise and reach a agreement.
- 40:16Speaker 1: There were riding on a very agreeable way. Here is
- 40:21Speaker 1: your piece of original Firefly fan fiction. There was a
- 40:24Speaker 1: dark night where the crew needed sleep. The Reavers were approaching,
- 40:29Speaker 1: but hope still lingered in the hearts of all who
- 40:32Speaker 1: rested deep within the ship. Mal suggested a proposal that
- 40:36Speaker 1: they compromise and reach an agreement. I loved the lack
- 40:43Speaker 1: of drama, and it's just like, no, we're going to
- 40:47Speaker 1: compromise and reach an agreements.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Listen, there was hope thematically, it was so there.
- 40:55Speaker 5: It was so good, you guys.
- 40:56Speaker 8: Yeah, nobody, nobody had tried an agreement with the Reavers before, and.
- 41:01Speaker 7: They're just misunderstood, you guys.
- 41:05Speaker 4: If anyone had proposed an agreement.
- 41:07Speaker 1: See, yes, okay, you did get your word in there.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Very good. So you get a point for that. For sure.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm going to give you four out of five for that,
- 41:16Speaker 1: because you did have themes in it. There were the themes.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Themes were present, and that's what makes a good story.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So there you go, very good. We're going to now
- 41:26Speaker 1: move over to Alan's two dix to hear hear their
- 41:29Speaker 1: piece of flash fan fiction. Here is your prompt again.
- 41:34Speaker 1: It can either be what inspires you to take it
- 41:37Speaker 1: in that direction, or it could just be I'm going
- 41:39Speaker 1: to take one little idea from this and go off
- 41:41Speaker 1: in a completely different direction. Maus surveyed the bar and
- 41:45Speaker 1: danced his fingers across the grip of his pistol. Suddenly
- 41:50Speaker 1: spin the wheel. Oh shoot, so much kidding? Are you
- 41:56Speaker 1: happy for me to spin the wheel on your behalf?
- 41:58Speaker 9: If you give me a bit, I can be over
- 42:00Speaker 9: there to do it.
- 42:01Speaker 4: But I'll give you eighteen hours.
- 42:07Speaker 8: We can vam for eighteen hours.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to say that your word is choke.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Choke is the word that you have there.
- 42:16Speaker 9: If you type in firefly and choke in AO three, you'll.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Get, Oh boy, what you will find.
- 42:25Speaker 1: So your setup is Mau surveyed the bar and danced
- 42:29Speaker 1: his fingers across the grip of his pistol. Suddenly, twenty
- 42:35Speaker 1: burly barman stood menacingly in front of him. Period, key
- 42:53Speaker 1: looked horny.
- 43:01Speaker 8: Period, and then in yeah. In quotations, starting starting quotations,
- 43:12Speaker 8: you looking to get choked.
- 43:21Speaker 9: Close quotation or question mark close quotations, open quotation.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Yep, yes, exclamation point quotation. All right, I think you've
- 43:42Speaker 1: actually told a story that. Would you like another sentence
- 43:47Speaker 1: or no? I think we should you know, quit, well
- 43:51Speaker 1: we're ahead.
- 43:51Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, yeah, you got to leave some to the imagination,
- 43:54Speaker 8: you know.
- 43:56Speaker 1: All right, here is your original piece of flash fiction.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Surveyed the bar and danced his fingers across the grip
- 44:02Speaker 1: of his pistol. Suddenly twenty burly barman stood menacingly in
- 44:07Speaker 1: front of him. He looked horny. You're looking to get choked. Yes, oh,
- 44:17Speaker 1: to be fair, there was an exclamation point, so yeah.
- 44:21Speaker 8: Oh brilliant.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Well look you got choked in there, so definitely a
- 44:27Speaker 1: point for that.
- 44:30Speaker 8: I definitely read that fan thing before. We just word
- 44:32Speaker 8: for word pulled from Yeah.
- 44:33Speaker 9: No, it would weigh on our conscience if we didn't
- 44:37Speaker 9: say that.
- 44:38Speaker 4: I know it's the other team, but that's a five
- 44:40Speaker 4: out of five fan fiction.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Sometimes the best stories are the most succinct ones that
- 44:47Speaker 1: have the arc, and sometimes an arc is looking horny,
- 44:50Speaker 1: asking for consent and getting explicit radical consents. So yeah, five,
- 44:59Speaker 1: uh huh, oh, brilliant. Five points to Alan's two dicks.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Lovely stuff all right. Would each team like to write
- 45:09Speaker 1: one more fan fic each?
- 45:11Speaker 8: Hell?
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, once again the Nathan Filmians. Would you like
- 45:15Speaker 1: to spin the wheel.
- 45:17Speaker 5: To turn darling?
- 45:19Speaker 1: Thank you, it's Equinox.
- 45:21Speaker 7: Okay, very difficult words.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Tough word.
- 45:26Speaker 4: No, we've got this. We've got this.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Your word is Equinox, and here is your setup. Yeah,
- 45:33Speaker 1: get loose. Zoe and Wash were finally alone on the bridge.
- 45:38Speaker 1: The couple stared into each other's eyes and read their bows.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Period. The toy dinosaurs.
- 46:00Speaker 5: From the brand Equinox.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Period.
- 46:12Speaker 3: They always felt like children when they played together with their.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Dinosaurs.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to stop it there, because that turned
- 46:30Speaker 1: out to be very quite innocent. Actually, unless you know
- 46:35Speaker 1: the dinosaurs are euphemism for something.
- 46:37Speaker 7: Natal Gymnastics had a dude Equinox into story.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Still took a lazy way out.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Hey, I believe you that there is a brand of
- 46:46Speaker 1: toy dinosaurs.
- 46:48Speaker 5: Yeah, there is. Now it's my world.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Definitely a point for Equinox. There here is your full
- 46:57Speaker 1: flash fiction. Zoe and Wash were finely alone on the bridge.
- 47:01Speaker 1: The couple stared into each other's eyes and read their vows.
- 47:06Speaker 1: The toy dinosaurs from the brand Equinox. They always felt
- 47:09Speaker 1: like children when they played together with their dinosaurs.
- 47:16Speaker 4: I stand by it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Very good. We've already addressed the shoehorning of Equinox. You've
- 47:25Speaker 1: got your point and you'll take it. Yes, I'm look.
- 47:30Speaker 1: It was very very sweet. I appreciate that you didn't
- 47:32Speaker 1: take the easy option of writing some smut between the
- 47:36Speaker 1: married couple on the bridge.
- 47:38Speaker 7: I can't top twenty burly barmit. I couldn't even compromise.
- 47:44Speaker 1: No know your role, but it was very sweet of
- 47:49Speaker 1: the couple stared into each other's eyes and read their vows.
- 47:52Speaker 1: That is very sweet. I'm gonna give you another four
- 47:53Speaker 1: out of five for that one.
- 47:55Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 47:55Speaker 8: I just wanted to say real quick that Mel couldn't
- 47:58Speaker 8: top twenty barmany either.
- 48:02Speaker 5: He tried.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Back on over to Alan's two Dicks for our final
- 48:11Speaker 1: piece of flash fan fiction. Maybe mercifully so, I'm gonna
- 48:17Speaker 1: spin the wheel to find out what your word is
- 48:19Speaker 1: that you must include if we land the same thing again.
- 48:24Speaker 2: It's it's crabs. It's crabs. Congrats, we have crabs, And
- 48:33Speaker 2: here is your prompt. The tam siblings stared into each
- 48:37Speaker 2: other's eyes for an uncomfortably long amount of time. River
- 48:40Speaker 2: broke the silence.
- 48:42Speaker 9: Open quotation marked, crabs close?
- 48:48Speaker 8: Yes? Did you just say crabs? Question mark?
- 48:55Speaker 9: We can put a question mark in there if you want.
- 48:57Speaker 8: Okay, yeah, I'll do okay, question mark close quotations, open quotations.
- 49:06Speaker 9: It might be crabs.
- 49:13Speaker 8: Period? Where did that come from? Question mark?
- 49:27Speaker 1: Space?
- 49:31Speaker 9: That's that was also a separate quotation. Yeah, we're right
- 49:35Speaker 9: in a dialogue.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Yeh yeah, it's all dialogue.
- 49:38Speaker 8: Crabs.
- 49:40Speaker 9: Wait?
- 49:40Speaker 1: Are you saying space crabs or clas? Okay, I'm saying space.
- 49:43Speaker 9: Okay, Okay, I've lost track of whose line is is whose?
- 49:48Speaker 1: I think space? My mind's river River saying that.
- 49:51Speaker 9: River river opening with crabs?
- 49:53Speaker 8: Yes, yeah? Or opening space crabs?
- 49:58Speaker 12: Uh?
- 50:00Speaker 9: Closed quotation marks yep, open quotation marks yep.
- 50:07Speaker 1: What all right, We're gonna end it there. This is
- 50:16Speaker 1: not far removed from the kinds of dialogue that the
- 50:18Speaker 1: Tam siblings happened. Here is your original piece of fan fiction.
- 50:25Speaker 1: The Tam siblings stared into each other's eyes for an
- 50:28Speaker 1: uncomfortably long amount of time. River broke the silence? Crabs,
- 50:33Speaker 1: It might be crabs? Where did that come from? Space? Crabs?
- 50:38Speaker 8: What?
- 50:42Speaker 9: As soon as you said that like River was the
- 50:44Speaker 9: one to break the silence, and then I was like
- 50:46Speaker 9: she would just say crabs, yeah, on its own in
- 50:49Speaker 9: a vacum.
- 50:50Speaker 4: There's a part of me that wanted I was just
- 50:52Speaker 4: like crabs. End of fan fiction.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Oh well, you've look the brilliance of the crabs. You've
- 51:02Speaker 1: said crabs three times in that. I'm not going to
- 51:05Speaker 1: give you three points for it, just the one, but
- 51:07Speaker 1: it's definitely in there, and I think like it was
- 51:12Speaker 1: shortened to the point like your last one, but not
- 51:14Speaker 1: as much story conveyed there. So I'm going to also
- 51:16Speaker 1: give you four out of five for this very normal
- 51:19Speaker 1: tam sibling in.
- 51:22Speaker 8: I'm just curious about where space crabs come from. I
- 51:26Speaker 8: guess I just I would never never live. I'd never
- 51:32Speaker 8: make it.
- 51:33Speaker 1: You wouldn't, not with not even with all that starfield
- 51:35Speaker 1: under your belt. Okay, that is the end of the round.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Thank you writers. Let's ask the loyal wash to calculate
- 51:45Speaker 1: the latest scores. And I now know that nominative determinism
- 51:49Speaker 1: is the reason everyone loves Alan two dick. And that's
- 51:52Speaker 1: a joke that I wrote a few days ago. That
- 51:54Speaker 1: was already the joke done up top to form the
- 51:56Speaker 1: teammate fantastic. Let's get to those scores. Those scores are
- 52:02Speaker 1: the Nathan filmions are on thirteen points. Alan's two Dix
- 52:07Speaker 1: are on twelve points. Catching up.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Huh.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Round three next after these ads that will hopefully not
- 52:16Speaker 1: misrepresent their products in the way that Fox misrepresented Firefly
- 52:20Speaker 1: in the two thousand and two TV season Back soon.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Round three is called rough and Tumblr. It's the game
- 52:34Speaker 1: where I'll ask you to identify characters from Firefly, but
- 52:38Speaker 1: not from clues written by me. Instead, these are genuine
- 52:41Speaker 1: two am text posts from your fellow fans on tumblr
- 52:45Speaker 1: dot com. So sorry if there're any of yours time.
- 52:51Speaker 9: Every time this round happens in a game, I'm like,
- 52:54Speaker 9: oh god, what if one of them is mine?
- 52:58Speaker 1: The game is simple. I'll read a genuine text post
- 53:01Speaker 1: and our players will, then I've got here write down
- 53:04Speaker 1: who they think it is, but I trust all of
- 53:06Speaker 1: you to just hold in your head an honest answer
- 53:08Speaker 1: of who you think it is. We'll then discuss who
- 53:10Speaker 1: you chose and why, and only one member of your
- 53:13Speaker 1: team needs to get the right answer to get the points,
- 53:16Speaker 1: So it's effectively giving you two guesses per team. If
- 53:19Speaker 1: you want to front like a different different characters. They'll
- 53:23Speaker 1: start out pretty easy, and then they'll get tougher and
- 53:25Speaker 1: tougher as we as we go along through these genuine
- 53:30Speaker 1: Tumbler quotes.
- 53:31Speaker 4: But more times you say genuine, the more weird I
- 53:34Speaker 4: expect them to be.
- 53:36Speaker 1: We'll get there.
- 53:38Speaker 8: Actually.
- 53:38Speaker 1: To be honest, these weren't as weird as they have
- 53:41Speaker 1: been for previous fandoms that we've covered. I think partly
- 53:44Speaker 1: because the fandom dates back, like to a little bit
- 53:47Speaker 1: before Tumbler. Even so you've kind of got more refined,
- 53:50Speaker 1: sensible takes as opposed to like Sherlock or Oh.
- 53:56Speaker 9: Yeah, there's a there's a definite curve of like removal
- 53:59Speaker 9: from like the source material of like insanity, and it
- 54:03Speaker 9: gets to a certain point where that insanity starts to
- 54:05Speaker 9: go back down.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely the fandom curve. I think scientists call it.
- 54:11Speaker 5: I do. Yeah.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Okay, so the first genuine tumblrtext post for everyone is this, Ah, yes,
- 54:18Speaker 1: welcome to the dorky Golden Retriever husbands that end up
- 54:21Speaker 1: getting impaled club. Okay, so everyone have a think about
- 54:24Speaker 1: who that is referring to, and I'm going to come
- 54:27Speaker 1: to you one by one for who you think it is,
- 54:29Speaker 1: so we'll start with aiden. Who do you think this is?
- 54:32Speaker 9: I mean, it's Wash. I'm interested in the other husband's
- 54:38Speaker 9: who've been impaled. Who else they're talking.
- 54:41Speaker 4: About, that's the real question.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Yes, Wash agreed, Jen was gotta.
- 54:50Speaker 5: Go with Wash.
- 54:52Speaker 4: I am going to go with Wash, and I thought
- 54:54Speaker 4: that before everybody else who knew more about this said it.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it is indeed, Wash. I love this as a
- 55:02Speaker 1: description of the character. It's quite nice. Do you agree
- 55:07Speaker 1: with the Golden Retriever comparison there of all the dogs
- 55:10Speaker 1: or would you say he's a different kind of dog.
- 55:12Speaker 9: I don't know enough about dog breeds to definitively say anything.
- 55:18Speaker 9: I'd say he's a setter, could be or a cordy. Yeah,
- 55:26Speaker 9: I can see him as a cologie breeds that are
- 55:29Speaker 9: known for their like prowess in in like aerospace.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Probably just like her.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Yeah, what was like her?
- 55:40Speaker 4: Probably a husky husky? I was thinking husky or sheba,
- 55:45Speaker 4: one of those types of the on the actual space
- 55:48Speaker 4: early tail. Yeah, yeah, ones, probably a husky. I could
- 55:54Speaker 4: see that for Wash. Okay, I think you're going to
- 55:57Speaker 4: be very good at this round. Guys, here's your next
- 56:01Speaker 4: genuine tumbler quote. I know it's twenty twenty, and why
- 56:04Speaker 4: am I talking about this show? But Firefly got a
- 56:07Speaker 4: lot of things right. But my favorite thing is they
- 56:10Speaker 4: were like on this entire spaceship and they were the
- 56:12Speaker 4: most respectable and wealthy person as a sex worker. And
- 56:16Speaker 4: yes that includes the priest.
- 56:19Speaker 5: I was about to say shepherd, but no, Okay.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I will start with jen on this one. Who've you
- 56:27Speaker 1: got yeah Na Na Audre.
- 56:30Speaker 4: Same, I thought her name was Honori, but yeah, Norah, Chris.
- 56:37Speaker 8: Yeah, Anara and Aidennara.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Yeah it is indeed. Yeah, we've had this conversation already
- 56:44Speaker 1: throughout this record. Yes we have who the sex worker
- 56:47Speaker 1: character is? Good stuff. Okay, we'll we'll see how well
- 56:51Speaker 1: you know your specific references with this next one. Okay,
- 56:54Speaker 1: they must have really, really really had a bad time
- 56:58Speaker 1: at the theater once to put people who talk at
- 57:00Speaker 1: the theater in the same special hell as child molesters.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Who is this text post about and not Joss Whedon?
- 57:10Speaker 8: So so this one is confusing to me because there's
- 57:13Speaker 8: it's one character saying it to another character, Like one
- 57:17Speaker 8: one character said you would be like this to another character,
- 57:20Speaker 8: So like, is it who's saying it, or who he's
- 57:23Speaker 8: saying you will be like that person.
- 57:26Speaker 1: It is the person saying it. They they must have had,
- 57:29Speaker 1: must have sorry, the grammar's bad on the original post,
- 57:32Speaker 1: and I didn't say anything about it. Yeah, they the
- 57:38Speaker 1: person who is making this comparison. I would say, Okay,
- 57:43Speaker 1: that's Shepherd, Okay, Chris Saint Shepherd Aiden, Yeah, it's Shepherd,
- 57:47Speaker 1: book Aldre.
- 57:49Speaker 4: I have to honor that. I don't have Jane Something. Yeah,
- 57:55Speaker 4: Jane Something. I picked a name and I'm not gonna
- 57:59Speaker 4: cheat other people's answers.
- 58:03Speaker 1: And Jen, I say Shepherd, You say Shepherd. Yeah, well
- 58:06Speaker 1: I respect the honesty or dru thank you. It is
- 58:09Speaker 1: indeed Shepherd, and your team gets a point because Jen
- 58:11Speaker 1: got it right. It is Shepherd, thank you.
- 58:13Speaker 4: Jen.
- 58:14Speaker 5: Jay does not seem like a theater goer, or he
- 58:17Speaker 5: would be the one talking in the theater.
- 58:19Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, true, yeah, or he's secretly like a big
- 58:23Speaker 8: theater kid. That would be a great.
- 58:26Speaker 9: I feel like it would be in character for him
- 58:28Speaker 9: to actually be like BRILLIANTO musicals. Yeah, and he keeps
- 58:32Speaker 9: it hidden from everyone.
- 58:33Speaker 4: Everything else is just like a facade.
- 58:36Speaker 5: Yeah. I would pay to see that episode.
- 58:38Speaker 11: Yeah, make it doing Joss.
- 58:46Speaker 5: We were wrapped of a musical episode.
- 58:49Speaker 8: Trill.
- 58:51Speaker 5: That's so good.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, here's another Tumbla text posts mysterious wisdom that
- 58:58Speaker 1: no one understands. Let me run off for my own
- 59:00Speaker 1: little side quest and also prove I'm the most badass
- 59:03Speaker 1: one here. Who is that tumbler user referring to h
- 59:08Speaker 1: and Audra. I'm gonna come to you first for this one.
- 59:11Speaker 4: I have only seen Serenity. I am going to say River.
- 59:15Speaker 1: You're saying River, Jen side quest, sidequest, side quests. You
- 59:22Speaker 1: can split your answer and say something different to cover
- 59:25Speaker 1: cover some.
- 59:25Speaker 4: Cover more ground.
- 59:28Speaker 5: Okay, I'm gonna say it's Wash saying Wash.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Okay, Aiden, I'm just.
- 59:33Speaker 9: Kind of guessing off the like proving I'm the most
- 59:35Speaker 9: badass one. And I'm gonna say.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Jane saying Jane.
- 59:40Speaker 8: Chris, I'm right there with Aiden, So I'm going to
- 59:44Speaker 8: diversify and say, now.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Okay, smart play, smart play. This is actually about River
- 59:51Speaker 1: Audras the as the non fan got this one interpreted
- 59:54Speaker 1: the firefly fans.
- 59:55Speaker 4: Sometimes your challenge of being a obsessive on Tumblr trump
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: specific knowledge. The full phrase jack of all trades, master
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: of none goes on to say is oftentimes better than
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: a master of one, and for one question.
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: Help me out.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Very good. Okay, here is another Tumblr text post. This
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: one's a lengthy one. Bear with me, yes me. A
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: lot of the time they are not a helpless pushover
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and can actually be quite ruthless and calculated and good
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: for them. Me right now, get behind me. I appreciate
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: that you are branching out, but you are being too
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: trusting in this particular instance. And I will kill anyone
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: who hurts you. Okay, there's some happy answers here from
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: some of the Firefly fans. Let's go with Aiden on
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: this one first.
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: I'd like that last line immediately made me think Kaylee.
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: It's It's like the thought that everyone has about Kayley
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: is like I would kill to defend you.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Okay's going with Kaylee. Chris.
- 1:01:03Speaker 8: I'm gonna go I'm gonna get crazy with it. I'm
- 1:01:05Speaker 8: gonna say Simon.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: You gonna say, Simon, I love it, Jen.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: Well ship, I thought Kaylee, but now I think Simon.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Chris.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: I gonna go with my gut and say Kaylee.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Jen's going with Kaylee.
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: I will honor the answer I had in my head
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: and say Kaylee as well.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: You're honoring and saying Kaylee, you can like after hearing.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: That you can't Simon, I'm going for Simon. Okay.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: There was some confident responses that this was maybe Kaylee,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: but this is in fact Simon. This is Simon.
- 1:01:41Speaker 9: I'm really glad that Chris said that, because as soon
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: as he said that, I was like, oh, ship, yeah
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: might right.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: That was straight up I guess I had no I
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: had no logic for picking Simon. I was just like,
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: I feel like this is supposed to be Kaylee, and
- 1:01:56Speaker 8: I need to pick the person I'm not thinking of.
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: Right now that gameplay.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Yeah, this person will kill anyone who hurts Simon. Which character?
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: That's wild. That's a wild thing to say.
- 1:02:11Speaker 9: I think maybe Kaylee wrote the text post.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: All right, I got one final text post for our
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: players here. It is, do I let people think the
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: name of my dog came from Firefly? Or I admit
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: it's from that two thousand and three meme song? Which
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: one is more embarrassing.
- 1:02:29Speaker 9: I didn't know there was a character in Firefly called
- 1:02:31Speaker 9: Freezy Frog.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: This was kind of a kind of a tough one
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: here character. Yeah, this is the character that this person
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: named their dog. After we're getting removed from any kind
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: of logic that you could possibly even know this. This
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: is one specific Tumbler user from probably twenty seventeen.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Oh, I've picked something and that's that.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Okay, you don't order it. You're so confident. Today, we're
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: gonna start with you. I am Miranda, Miranda. I don't
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: know if there's a meme song in two thousand and three,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: but I bet there is. Jen House. You two thousand
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: and three meme song.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: Knowledge kind of sucked.
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: I'm gonna say, uh, just for the power of splitting
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: up mal mal.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Nice, nice, Chris, what have you got for this?
- 1:03:36Speaker 8: I feel like of the names that could be associated
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: with a meme from the early two thousands meme song,
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: all they can think of is Zoe. I can't think
- 1:03:48Speaker 8: of a song with it, but it sounds like a
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: meme like it would be associated with the meme song
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: from Charlie two thousand. So I'm going Zoe.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: You're saying Zoe, Yeah, I respect it, Aidan, what's your offering?
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: I had that same train of thought. So just to
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: hedge your bets, I'm gonna say a different name, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 9: I'm just gonna like pull one out of my little
- 1:04:08Speaker 9: firefly hat that I keep inside my brain of all times,
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: and say Jane.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: And throw out Jane. I've not heard the correct answer
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: from any of our players. The correct answer is Badger.
- 1:04:23Speaker 9: Oh, we meme song Badger and it's it's the it's
- 1:04:32Speaker 9: the British guy who was in Supernatural yea as has
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: the bowlers hat.
- 1:04:37Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: What I want to know is who would name their
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: dog after that character?
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: He sucks?
- 1:04:45Speaker 9: And also it's just an animal like that's like if
- 1:04:49Speaker 9: someone whose dog was called Badger, I'd be like, oh
- 1:04:52Speaker 9: ha ha yeah, like the other animal.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: Firefly.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Firefly is the third choice.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: After animal meme song and then fire Ah. Very good, good,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: good work. I think you know your fellow fans who
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: haven't taken their meds at two am. Okay, that is
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: the end of round three. Let's ask Nathan Fillian to
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: calculate the later scores. Oh, he's too busy siding with
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Joss Whedon in the abuse allegations. That's a shame. I'll
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: do it myself.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: Then fill me in on why the fuck you doing that?
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Then fill me in have eighteen points and Alan's two
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Dix have sixteen points.
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: Close, still very close.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: It's oh so close, and anything can change. In the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: quick fire around, it's complete chaos. But before we get
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to that quick fire around, let's talk prizes. This episode's
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: star prize is the concept of rebellion. We need it
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: now more than ever. But it's going to take a
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: lot more than a letter writing campaign to a TV network,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I'll tell you that much. But our winning team will
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: also receive the secret DVDs of Firefly season two. Oh
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: but the HD DVDs does? Does anyone have an Xbox
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: three sixty Yeah?
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: Huh up.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: Next is our crucial quick fire around, But first we
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: must play one final set of ads. They're smart ads,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: so if they're for filthy things, that's on you, bud.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: We'll be right back sweet. Shall we do this? Should
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: we do the quick fire quick Firefly film quick Firefly?
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I don't even have that run down here.
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: You can edit that and claim the joke as your own.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Yes, I totally could. Our final quick Firefly round, we'll
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: test your broader pop culture knowledge and knowledge couldn't even
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: finish the bit. And it's called space ship hip shape.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: In this game, I will give our players clues to
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: the name of a spaceship from pop culture history. Those
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: clues will be in the style of a captain giving
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: orders from the deck. I'm not gonna say mao, because
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I don't know how strong my Nathan Fillion impression is.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: No thyself.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: All too well. And there's of course a classic gate
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Leapers twist. After you say your answer, you need to
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: say a genre of nick knack you would put on
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: the control desk of this ship. It could be inspired
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: by the franchise that it's from, or whatever the hell
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: you want. That's random. Just say something just like the dinosaurs.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: So if it was Serenity and I'd put dinosaurs on
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: the on the front, would be then Okay, it's quick fire,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: so buzz in by yelling out your team name. Let's
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: practice that.
- 1:07:50Speaker 8: Now it's a brilliant.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Sure, Okay, let's figure out how we're doing this. Dix
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Dex is the to go. Yeah.
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I've been excited since we decided our name to.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Phil Phil Phil Phil, just as short as Bill Dicks.
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: Hi, I'm Phil Dicks.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Okay, let's do a practice question, just because there's a
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: lot happening. If I said, all right, put that Game
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: of Deaderick aside. We've got Empire fighters coming in kid
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Dick guess yes, Chris, oh shit.
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: Uh, Star Wars and I would put the fur of
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: an ewok on my console.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: So definitely great. On what you would put on the
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: on the front of the console, that's a nick knack.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: We're looking for the name of the ship.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: Oh, name of the ship. Oh oh ship, My bad,
- 1:08:49Speaker 8: Millennium Falcon.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: There we go, exactly so Millennium Falcon and then some
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: ewok fluff on the front. You can't ever say a
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: wrong answer for what is on the on the console.
- 1:08:58Speaker 8: I was thinking more about that than what we're actually
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: supposed to be answering. So it's the of the ship.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Okay, you can interrupt me at any points. Are we
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: all ready ready?
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Here we go. All right, pop your different colored shirts
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: back on, and let's all head to the bridge. You
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: with the point of aiden enterprise?
- 1:09:22Speaker 9: Uh and uh ah? What are they called the like
- 1:09:27Speaker 9: the little are the quipples?
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: One of the quipples? Yeah, yeah, there's some quipples on
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: the on the desk. Yeah, yeah, that's good in universe
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: knowledge there. Yeah, all right, get the cat to safety
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: and go grab a flame thrower before the face hugging
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: thing gets back here. Can somebody please stop Bilbo Baggins
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: from spraying like stuff everywhere, Aidan.
- 1:09:48Speaker 9: Yeah, sorry, I think my mic cut out when I
- 1:09:50Speaker 9: tried to buzz in the first nostromo. Uh, and I
- 1:09:57Speaker 9: mean you named him Goose the cat. You can have
- 1:09:59Speaker 9: a little bed on.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: The nice beautiful that can be what's on the panel.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: Okay, let's see, come on, brain remember remember more more ships?
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: All right?
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Whoa, it's much bigger on the inside.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Oh yes, Jack Tartists, Woman's Hula Girls.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Classic Nay, have to be there. There we go. There's
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: a point all right. The robot is drinking in the
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: break room and the lobster is out of control.
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: Yes, Chris, Oh ship, it's Futurama. It's the it's the
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: pizza delivery ship. And ship I can't plant the Express
- 1:10:41Speaker 8: ship almost so close, the Express two or something, the
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: Planet Express, Yes, Planet Express, and I have a fry
- 1:10:52Speaker 8: naked and laying across the.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I'll give you those suspicious the suspicious fry meme.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: There's a point there, all right. This giant thing has
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: a master chef on board. That's great. Wait, that doesn't
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: say chef. The U n s C has no imagination
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: these days. Oh, Dix.
- 1:11:18Speaker 9: Yesigs, I'm wearing the shirt for this franchise.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:11:23Speaker 9: The there's a few different ones. They could be the
- 1:11:25Speaker 9: Pillar of Autumn.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I'll take it. It's the name of one of the
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Infinity cruises. So yes, absolutely, uh.
- 1:11:32Speaker 9: And uh, master Chief lying naked helmets still on though,
- 1:11:46Speaker 9: helmet on the tip as well.
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: As for safety.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: On the helmet.
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: So you're saying this thing used to be a fishing
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: trawler and most of you are bounty hunters. Sweet and
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: is that a Welsh Corgie? Second time Corgie's being mentioned?
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: If I could handle being Yes, Chris the.
- 1:12:10Speaker 8: Bebop and it's uh fave Valentine is lying dead on
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: the console.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: A lot of bodies on the console. We started out
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: as nick Knacks, but we've gone straight to very good
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Yeah Bebop from Cowboy Bebop. All right, This ragtag bunch
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: is familiar, almost as if we took creative license from
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: each other's properties, except they have a raccoon, a tree
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: and a fundamentalist Christian So more ragtag Dix, yes, aidan.
- 1:12:39Speaker 9: Oh, god damn it, there's again. There's a couple of choices.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:12:43Speaker 9: I think there's a couple of choices. The Bowie. Uh,
- 1:12:48Speaker 9: that's that's not the one that you've got written down, though.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna double check because if it is a ship
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: from the correct franchise, I'm gonna give it to you. Yes,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: absolutely nice.
- 1:12:57Speaker 9: I cannot remember the name of the original one, but
- 1:12:59Speaker 9: I know that I then got the Bowie.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Yes, I've got Milano is what's written.
- 1:13:04Speaker 9: There's also the Benatar as well.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: There we go.
- 1:13:06Speaker 9: Just you know, if you ever wanted to do another
- 1:13:08Speaker 9: Guard into the Galaxy.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Episode, that's the closest we'll get.
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: And a little dancing group.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Very good. Yeah, dancing group similar to the Hula Girl.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: There's dancing group. All right. So we got a baby
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: floating in space, a psychopathic computer, and a lot of
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: white corridors. Sounds like the current administration or the administration
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: from two thousand and one.
- 1:13:32Speaker 8: I don't know what the name of this ship is.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: You're gonna pass on this one, no one, No one
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: can pull the spaceship from two thousand and one Space
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Odyssey Dix.
- 1:13:43Speaker 8: Yes, Chris the artisty A guess the concept of I
- 1:13:50Speaker 8: don't know, depressions on the console.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: That's always on the console.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: I'll throw something in for ours. I don't remember who
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: was the president in two thousand and one.
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: I should.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: I'm going to say that it's the Bush.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: It's just a murkin on the concept. I want to
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: give you a point for that, but I can't. It's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: the Discovery one. Is the name of the ship?
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: All right?
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Listen up. The robots depressed and the captain's got two heads.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: It's time for the guy with the towel and the
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: mannic dream girl to really step up. Or will never
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: know the meaning of life.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, what is.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: The name of Oh it hurts everyone knows the prophecy.
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: It hurts my brain. I don't know, but Sam Rock
- 1:14:50Speaker 8: will get off the console.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: The pass on this one, Yeah, because I have reference.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: But I know.
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: That myself when I hear it.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Yeah, the name of the ship in Hitchhiker's Guide is
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: the Heart of Gold.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: Oh it is God, damn it.
- 1:15:09Speaker 9: It is all like auld Like my brain was like
- 1:15:12Speaker 9: rattling through names in that property, and it just it
- 1:15:16Speaker 9: hit slightly butt fast, and then I couldn't get home.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: The same with panglastic gargo Blaster. We're not moving past
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: that once that hits.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: All right, it's cold outside there's no kind of atmosphere.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I'm all alone more, Yes, Aiden.
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: Red Dwarf is that I can't give you the.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Point because you didn't say what was on the console
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: immediately after Indeed, Dwarf, I'm so sorry.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: Yes, I'm just gonna pull this from nowhere. Red Dwarf maybe,
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: And I think there's just like a a bobblehead of something,
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: just like a cat.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Related to the franchise. That's how.
- 1:16:13Speaker 9: If we lose that question, Chris, I'm really sorry.
- 1:16:16Speaker 8: That's funny. You've gotten less like eight points, so.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: We'll see how it goes. All right, Listen up, we're
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: returning to a previous property because it has a lot
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: of space ships. This one's huge planet sized, are you guys? Yes,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Uldra death Star.
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: And I'm gonna put uh a bobble heads. No, it's
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: gonna be a little dancing uh, just a little Darth
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: Vader just doing that.
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: This.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: He handed them out as like a corporate structure thing
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: of like trying to be more relatable to everybody working
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: on there, kind of like CEOs will like where cool
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: sunglasses are, like get like a oh, we've got a
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: letterman jacket for the company. That's what he's trying to
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: do totally totally, but.
- 1:17:05Speaker 8: It can't force choke you from the bottle head from
- 1:17:08Speaker 8: the dancing.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Chris, I can't give you another point for saying
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: choke this light in the game. Oh last clue quick
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: before the buzzer. All right, well there's a whole fleet
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: of these things. If we blow up the crab shaped
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: one that ought to piss them off or at least
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: lure them away from Miranda. Yes, Jen, a reavership.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: It is reavership with.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: As the that's the buzzer. What a quick fire around
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: the scores, A neck and neck. But before we get
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: to the final scores, I'd like to thank a players.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: You've a misbehaves but that's okay because you aim to. Yeah, Jen,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: thanks so much for joining us.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: I hope you had a good time here, absolutely lot
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: of fun.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: You have a play coming out in April, playing in Denver.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Could you tell us all about the Pool?
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Yes?
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Yeah, happy to.
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: So the pool is the tagline is a woman knows
- 1:18:25Speaker 7: that if she leaves her husband he will kill himself.
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: If she stays, she knows she won't make it. So
- 1:18:31Speaker 7: the pool is the aftermath of having to make that
