- 0:00Miss Mullah Ahmad Rahim Allah Musali Alam Muhammad Ali
- 0:03Muhammad Salaam Alaikum Muttaheb Rahatul.
- 0:05Brother sisters, welcome back to the Aftermath podcast.
- 0:08We are now in the silence after the storm of Ashura and the days
- 0:13after the battle of Karbala. We reflect as to what we've
- 0:16seen. This Karbala was not the end by
- 0:18the sisters, it was the beginning, the beginning to
- 0:21growth that comes from grief, sorrow that leads to strength.
- 0:25Ways in which we can reflect, ponder, apply not just the
- 0:28goodness that we saw in Karbala, but also the godliness as well,
- 0:32Inshallah. And that's something we've been
- 0:33discussing over the last few weeks.
- 0:35If you've been tuning into the podcast.
- 0:37As always, brother sisters, if it's your first time here,
- 0:39please make sure to like, comment, share, subscribe, and
- 0:43also inshallah stay to the end of the episode because we hope
- 0:45this will be beneficial. We're going to kind of get into
- 0:48two or three key conversations in this episode, but before we
- 0:52introduce our beloved, highly requested guest, Charlotte gives
- 0:55me great honour and pride to be alongside my dear brother, said
- 0:59Ali. Rather, we saw Ali come saying
- 1:11that. How you doing bro?
- 1:15It's been for me, the CF phenomenal, the vice of
- 1:19Muharram. You know, I've managed to attend
- 1:22a number of communities, sat down in the presence of amazing
- 1:25scholars and speakers through all over London.
- 1:27I Mashallah just I think within northwest London there is there
- 1:31was about 10 majalis going on. So we had ample of choices and
- 1:35I've met so much amazing brothers this year who have had
- 1:38some deep conversations with me and I know we've had some as
- 1:41well together, Ahmed, where we say, you know what, what do we
- 1:44want to achieve this Muharram? What did, how is the amount of
- 1:47saying going to improve our spiritual spirituality, our
- 1:50obedience to Allah, things like this.
- 1:51So it's a continuous journey, of course.
- 1:53And inshallah we we bring this continuous journey for our
- 1:56spiritual growth onto the podcast and Inshallah we do our
- 1:59best. To Charlotte and Charlotte, and
- 2:00before we go any further, brothers and sisters, as always,
- 2:03we offer condolences to you. This is our first episode after
- 2:05the day of our Shola and more importantly to the amount of our
- 2:08time. I'm so I have also was a man as
- 2:10of course, these are still the days of mourning.
- 2:12So, Charlotte, we'll try our best to reflect and do justice
- 2:16to this epic, this historic tragedy, which is still as
- 2:20important, still as contemporary as it should be.
- 2:23Now to introduce our guest. One sisters, this is someone
- 2:25we've had, as I mentioned, hundreds of requests over the
- 2:29last few years. Hamdulah, we're very honoured
- 2:31and blessed to be joined by our dear Sheikh Azhar na Sussaam
- 2:34Alaikum, Sheikhna Alaikum Salaam Mohammed Sallah, thank you so
- 2:37much for having. It's an honour to be here with
- 2:40you. And thank you so much, of
- 2:42course, for spending your time with us.
- 2:44How do you feel each year, if you don't mind me asking?
- 2:48After the day of Ashura, when you look back and reflect on the
- 2:521st 10 days of Muharram and how the communities come together,
- 2:56the transformational movement that we're all on, how does it
- 3:00make you feel as someone who is considered one of our community
- 3:03leaders and someone who's had the experience, the exposure to
- 3:06so many global communities, when you see the movement of people,
- 3:09the change of hearts, how does that make you feel?
- 3:12You know that I Hamdullah, I have the privilege of of
- 3:15travelling around the world and I meet communities from North
- 3:19America, from the UK, from all over and I see the month of
- 3:26Muharram as a manifestation of the the power of of 12 Russiaism
- 3:34of Tashayyam. You know, Imam and Hussein Ade
- 3:37Salaam has the unique ability to draw in people from all walks of
- 3:43life. You know, it's almost like
- 3:47throughout the year, we go through these ups and downs in
- 3:50our spirituality. And no matter how far someone
- 3:53drifts away, and you might be talking about someone who hasn't
- 3:57prayed in a year, who's the furthest away from religion,
- 4:01who's just hanging on by a thread, but there's something
- 4:05about Imam Hussein Aye, Saddam that just pulls them in.
- 4:09So I look at the medalist of Imam and Hussein Ayeh Saddam as
- 4:15a spiritual hospital, that no matter where you are, no matter
- 4:18how wounded you are emotionally, spiritually, there's a place for
- 4:23you in, in this medulis. And all of us, all of us, we
- 4:26need, we need that spiritual healing from Imam and Hussein
- 4:29Ayeh Saddam. You know, that's why sometimes
- 4:31when when I talk to parents who who kind of worry about their
- 4:35kids, community members who are, you know, who feel like, you
- 4:39know, some of the youth are drifting away.
- 4:43I never, I never lose hope in any anybody as long as we have
- 4:48the majlis of Imam and Hussein Ade Salaam.
- 4:50There is a lifeline for every single person, you know, and
- 4:55that and that's what it means to be Safina to Najat.
- 4:58You know when, when, when Imam and Hussein is described as the
- 5:01ship of salvation. That's exactly what it is.
- 5:07Imam Hussein, Aleh Salaam. He he's that person who makes
- 5:13you feel like I can, I can change.
- 5:17Like I don't need to continue down this dark Rd. that you
- 5:22know, he is, you know, from he's the Lantern of guidance, right?
- 5:24He's the ship of salvation, no matter how tumultuous, you know,
- 5:29the, the, the, the waves of fitna are in your life, There's,
- 5:33there, there's a ship, there's a ship there that you can cling on
- 5:36to. So it's, you know, for me, every
- 5:40year, just seeing new faces, people who reconnect with their
- 5:43faith, It's, it's, it's remarkable.
- 5:46And I think it's a testament to the, to the sincerity of Imam
- 5:52Hussein Adi Sanam that you know, when you do things purely for
- 5:54Allah, Allah just amplifies the impact of of your actions,
- 6:00right? Sounds very beautiful.
- 6:03I remind you. You spoke about spirituality.
- 6:05No Subhanallah, just a few nights ago.
- 6:07She hasn't had a conversation with a friend, a very deep
- 6:10conversation where he told me he feels like there's a distance
- 6:13between him and establishing Salah.
- 6:16Recently, over the last few months, because he was going
- 6:18through difficulties and coming to the Majalis.
- 6:20He said to himself, you know, I tell myself I am Husseini, how
- 6:24can I not go and pray? And he was having these thoughts
- 6:26with himself. And you're right, you know,
- 6:28these majalas, they bring us back, they steer us back towards
- 6:32that, that, you know, that spirituality that we need, we
- 6:34need to attain Inshallah and Hamdallah.
- 6:35I've been blessed, I would say, by increasing my spirituality
- 6:39over many years. These are thanks to people like
- 6:42yourselves from the manaba and the pulpits.
- 6:44And I had the opportunity and the pleasure to attend a number
- 6:46of nights, your majalis, this Muharram and you.
- 6:50I want to mention something, Shakna, you mentioned something,
- 6:54I think it was like 2 or like 3 about the children and suffering
- 7:00and the Gazan. You were linking everything.
- 7:01And I remember we spoke in your Messiah.
- 7:03We spoke about the daughter of Rimam and Hussein.
- 7:07After your majors, I went to another majors and that time
- 7:11when I was in that majors, I had my daughter with me.
- 7:14And I felt like when I was having tears when I was reacting
- 7:18emotionally to the Mossiah from from the chef and the and the
- 7:22majors, my daughter was like holding on to me, looking at me,
- 7:26speaking with me. And I just remembered your
- 7:28lecture. I went back.
- 7:29I was like Subhan Allah, like the tragedy of Karbala is so
- 7:34great that our daughters and our and our sons, they deserve to
- 7:39know who Hussein is. They deserve to know what's the
- 7:42reason behind all our tears? What's the reason we go my child
- 7:45is why we beat our chess while we hold as why we make Milwaukee
- 7:49is why we walk and our millions to Karbala.
- 7:51And I think we owe it to them. And I think a conversation like
- 7:53we're going to have today is going to change, Inshallah, the
- 7:58future generation, Allah. So that if I, if I could just
- 8:00add something because because we as Shias, we grew up with
- 8:06Majalis, we really take Majalis for granted.
- 8:10We do. What do I mean by that?
- 8:13If you think of people who don't have any connection to faith,
- 8:19their entire world revolves around materialism, they don't
- 8:24really have inspirational figures in their lives.
- 8:28Like think think about your average individual, your average
- 8:32non-muslim, especially the men among them.
- 8:39Have they ever listened to an hour long lecture about how to
- 8:44be a better human being and actually cry?
- 8:49Like think about, I mean think about most people, especially
- 8:52men. And I'm focusing on men because
- 8:54I think, I think it's very, very important for for men to be
- 8:59attuned with their emotions. I think actually that's a sign
- 9:01of masculinity, that there is something, there's something
- 9:05very cathartic about sitting and listening to a story about a
- 9:13struggle against falsehood, A struggle against injustice and,
- 9:19and shedding tears. I think it it, it, it humanizes
- 9:23us. You know, when I listen to the
- 9:26tragedy of Imam Hussein, it's really the only place in the
- 9:30world where as a man, you can bawl your eyes out and not be
- 9:35embarrassed. It's the only place where you
- 9:39can actually cry and actually feel proud that I cried.
- 9:45Because these tears, we need these tears.
- 9:50We need these tears because these tears keep our hearts from
- 9:54becoming like stone. So I actually think human beings
- 10:01need to cry more. There's a lot to cry about, but
- 10:03I'm not talking about tears of despair.
- 10:06I'm talking about tears that empower you, that you listen to
- 10:11the story of Imam and Hussein and you think like, like, wow,
- 10:15someone like him actually existed.
- 10:18Like it, it it gives you hope that there's a reason why God
- 10:22created all of us right there. There is a there is a plan and
- 10:28what a what an honor to have a place like a Majlis to bring
- 10:32your kids. People are desperate to instill
- 10:35ethics in their kids and we we get, we get to bring our
- 10:41children and they get the best lessons on what it means to be a
- 10:46true human being. And they get the emotional
- 10:50connection. I mean, I feel like I've become
- 10:52a better father just by attending the medulist of Imam
- 10:56and Hussein, because you start to compare yourself to Hussein
- 11:01the father as a brother, right? Imam Hussein Alison, he had
- 11:06sisters. When I listen to Imam Hussein, I
- 11:08start asking like, you know, look at, look at how beautifully
- 11:12he treats the sisters. I want to be Hussein the
- 11:15brother, the brother of Zeynep Hussein the husband.
- 11:21You know, we, we live in a world today where you have guys who
- 11:24want to get married and want to do the whole, you know, 5050.
- 11:27Imam Hussein didn't say to the Bob, you know, 50% of the
- 11:31finances are on me, 50% on you. He was the Whaley of the
- 11:35womenfolk like that. That's Rojula.
- 11:38That's that's masculinity. That's what it means to be a
- 11:39man. Yeah.
- 11:41So we get we get a minimum of 10 days of that.
- 11:45Do you understand, like how revolutionary that is?
- 11:49Yeah, absolutely. I think, chef, there's so many
- 11:51ways. So Subhan Allah, the the
- 11:53blessing of Abdullah Alayhi Salaam is that there's when you
- 11:56start talking about one thing, one quality of him, something
- 12:00else comes to mind. And it's like a ripple effect.
- 12:02And before you know it, you have a million avenues to go down in
- 12:06terms of his father and of course his Mossad as well.
- 12:09But one thing you mentioned in terms of the hedonism of
- 12:13society, the, the egoism, the materialism of the world we live
- 12:16in this capitalistic world where people are so engulfed in their
- 12:20own selves, the desire to to, to work on themselves.
- 12:24And we hear a lot about humanitarianism, of course, in
- 12:26the world around us. But something new in terms of an
- 12:28ideology we've been seeing a lot in recent years, especially in
- 12:32the last decade or two, is humanism, the idea that people
- 12:35focus on themselves, the growth of themselves, the comfort
- 12:39themselves, the convenience for themselves.
- 12:41In Japan, you have towns where you have hundreds of thousands
- 12:45of people who the government facilitates them to live by
- 12:48themselves. They work at home, their food is
- 12:51delivered to home. They live by themselves.
- 12:53They don't engage in marriage or anything like that.
- 12:55And it's to to to serve that egoistic nature of themselves.
- 13:01And something which I feel the world needs now more than ever
- 13:05is a moral standard, a standard which we can look up to, a
- 13:09standard which tells us that what is the difference between
- 13:11innate human goodness and evil? Barometer.
- 13:14The barometer, right? And we know, of course, our last
- 13:17point to other tells us numerous times in the Holy Quran about
- 13:19the Fetra and about the innate primordial nature of man and
- 13:23women, of course, and the way in which Inshallah, we can work
- 13:26towards goodness. Now, what a question I have for
- 13:29you, chef, especially now I feel reflecting growing up in in
- 13:32London, which I would argue, I don't know about you chef, but I
- 13:35feel London is the hub of Western Shiism.
- 13:37And I don't know if that's if that's a contentious point or
- 13:40not, but at least what we've seen across the Western world is
- 13:43in the last 20 years, there's been a globalization of Toshio
- 13:47and specifically because of the English language.
- 13:49So we are now able to have resources.
- 13:51A couple of weeks ago we had the brothers on from Hos, Hosain and
- 13:54many other organizations. Many of our massages are
- 13:57producing resources to to, to share the message of about
- 14:01Abdullah Alayhi Salaam to the wider world.
- 14:03How do we do this in a way which is effective, condensed and also
- 14:08universal to the point where when we speak to our peers, our
- 14:11colleagues, they say, Ahmed, you were wearing black for the last
- 14:1410 days, why you're still wearing black?
- 14:16Why, Ahmed, you've booked a ticket to Iraq in the midst of a
- 14:18regional war. Why, what, what is it that we
- 14:21can share with people? How do we approach this
- 14:23conversation? Is there ausp, do we treat it
- 14:25like a sales approach or do we take it from a theological
- 14:28point? Like, do you see what I mean?
- 14:31How would you do that if someone was to come to you?
- 14:32So the, the approach that I would take and of course, my
- 14:35loss of how to bless all of the organizations that are doing,
- 14:39you know, their best to introduce Imam Hussein to the
- 14:41world. And I don't mean to disparage
- 14:43any of them. I consider them, you know,
- 14:45better than myself. They've probably done much more
- 14:47work in that regard than I have. But over the years, you know,
- 14:50with you, with age, you gain, you gain experience, you try,
- 14:54you start to figure out what works and what doesn't.
- 14:57I actually don't think the right question or the right approaches
- 15:02to to say to non-Muslims, OK, let me tell you about Hussein.
- 15:07I think a better question is why don't you already know about
- 15:11Hussein? Why don't you know about a
- 15:16person who was martyred almost 14 centuries ago, who every year
- 15:22during the Autobahn commemoration, he attracts 20 to
- 15:2730 million people from around the world.
- 15:29There are people who walk from their villages for weeks.
- 15:34These are not people who are wealthy.
- 15:36These are people who are living in abject poverty.
- 15:40But there's there's something about this man that draws them.
- 15:45Women, children, and by the way, what we witnessed during
- 15:51Autobahn, you know, if, if you tell any country, by the way,
- 15:55next week, 30 million people are going to descend upon one of
- 15:59your major cities, the government would crash.
- 16:02No, they can't. I mean, how many people attended
- 16:04Hajj this year? One and a half million.
- 16:06Less than two, yeah. And when you go there, you have
- 16:09to pay like 15 grand, especially if you're coming from US or
- 16:12Canada. You can go to Karbala with no
- 16:18money, you can literally walk from Basra to to Karbala for two
- 16:24weeks and you will be fed every step of the way.
- 16:31That's inexplicable. So my question is, this is
- 16:35happening every year in Karbala. Why doesn't the legacy media
- 16:39cover this? So a better question is why
- 16:43don't you know about Hussein and why why doesn't CNN, Fox News,
- 16:49BBC, these media outlets that that tell me about the most
- 16:55frivolous things? You know, as I mentioned, you
- 16:57know, I, I was sitting in my home and I was watching, I was
- 17:02watching national Canadian news, right?
- 17:05I don't recommend it, but there was a story, a segment about an
- 17:11old lady who had lost her cat, and the cat had climbed into a
- 17:16tree. And, you know, she was, you
- 17:19know, distressed by the absence of her pet cat.
- 17:23She calls the fire department, and they come and they rest 10
- 17:26to 15 minutes about rescuing that cat from the tree, from a
- 17:31tree in some random city in Canada, if you have time to
- 17:37cover that. What is it about Hussein that
- 17:41you don't want the world to know?
- 17:43Do you think they're scared to share something, Chef?
- 17:46You know, I'll tell you this, I think all of us can agree,
- 17:51especially after the past two years, what we've seen in in
- 17:53Reza is that all of these governments and these, these,
- 17:57these institutions, it's all a sham that these governments that
- 18:02speak about human rights. And, you know, we think that
- 18:04these are impressive civilizations.
- 18:07They're corrupt to the core. It's all talk, it's all
- 18:10hypocrisy. There's no, there's no
- 18:12authenticity between what's on paper and what's what's actually
- 18:15policy. So maybe, and we know this
- 18:20through history, you know, why did Saddam ban Zyadas and
- 18:24Arvain? Why is it that tyrants,
- 18:26generation after generation, they punish people for visiting
- 18:31Imam Hussein? What is it about Hussein?
- 18:35Is it, is it because he liberates the mind that the
- 18:40story of Hussein turns slaves into liberated people?
- 18:46Critical think thinkers who are not hedonistic, the the global
- 18:53elitist, if you want to call them that.
- 18:56The reason why they they're able to amass ridiculous amounts of
- 19:02wealth, obscene amounts of wealth is because they need
- 19:07people to be, to remain ignorant, to be slaves of their
- 19:10desires and to live a life of subjugation and humiliation.
- 19:17Imam Hussein Alayhi Salaam, his message will awaken the hearts
- 19:23and these corrupt institutions cannot survive in a world where
- 19:28Hussein is in the spotlight, right?
- 19:32So this is by this is by design and, and I and I think we have
- 19:35to start asking this question. You know, there are a lot of
- 19:39inspiring people in history. You know, you have the Nelson
- 19:41Mandela's, you have the Martin Luther Kings, you have people
- 19:43that have done good work, but it's not it's nowhere near the
- 19:48impact of Imam Hussein. You know, I remember when I was
- 19:50a little kid, this was in 1997. I'm not going to tell you guys
- 19:54how old I am, but you know, so in 1997, I remember when
- 20:01Princess Diana. When she died in a car crash and
- 20:05Princess Diana was kind of seen as this kind of this
- 20:09philanthropist, she was, she was, she was the Princess who
- 20:12was relatable. Right.
- 20:14So when she, I remember when she, when she died, I was
- 20:18stunned by the emotional outpour.
- 20:22Buckingham Palace was like buried in flowers.
- 20:26You saw like hundreds of thousands, if not millions of
- 20:29people gather in the streets. She was loved, right?
- 20:35She was not a perfect person, but there was something about
- 20:37her that made people feel connected.
- 20:41That was 19971998. What happened?
- 20:47The grief subsided. 1999 two thousand.
- 20:52As the years go by, is Buckingham Palace flooded with
- 20:56people? Or what's the natural kind of
- 20:59way that this kind of plays out is that with the passing of
- 21:01time, the grief subsides, fades away, and people forget.
- 21:06Yes, you might be mentioned. You know, they might make a
- 21:07documentary about you that you might be mentioned in the pages
- 21:11of history. Maybe during the news, they'll
- 21:14be like, oh, no, this is the anniversary of, you know, the
- 21:16death of Princess Diana. That's really about it.
- 21:20But look at Hamam Hussein. It's the opposite.
- 21:24It defies the natural laws of, of grief and loss and tragedy.
- 21:29Not only does it not subside, but it grows it, it's amplified.
- 21:36And the people who loved Princess Diana, they, they saw
- 21:38her. Maybe they met her.
- 21:41We've never. We've never met Imam Hussein,
- 21:44we've never seen him. So my question is to the
- 21:47non-muslim, why don't you know about this man who's
- 21:51commemorated every year by millions?
- 21:56And what is it it? I mean, it's, it's
- 21:58indescribable. It's inexplicable.
- 22:00But you know, the Quran actually explains it.
- 22:03Allah subhanaw Taala, what does he say in the ladina Amanu wah
- 22:07amiru salihat sayaja lullahum Rahman would da those who
- 22:13believe. And we're not talking about like
- 22:15belief as in like I'm a Muslim as a label.
- 22:17I'm talking about real belief. I'm talking about perfect Iman.
- 22:23I'm talking about the epitome of righteousness, people who are
- 22:29like that. And Imam Hussein is the, he's
- 22:31the, the quintessential man of faith.
- 22:35He is the, the perfection of righteousness.
- 22:38Allah says people who are truly, who truly have faith, who are
- 22:42truly righteous, Allah says, I, I put their affection in the
- 22:47hearts. What we see with Imam and
- 22:50Hussein Adei Saddam, this is a divine hand.
- 22:53You know, even even Jesus Christ, the commemoration, you
- 22:58know, we don't believe that he was crucified, but those who
- 23:00believe he's crucified, the commemoration for Jesus is
- 23:03nowhere near comparable, the commemoration for Imam Hussein.
- 23:08So I would say to my non-muslim friends, we have plenty of
- 23:14reason to be skeptical about the media.
- 23:17Let me add another another reason for you to be skeptical.
- 23:21Why does the legacy media not cover the ziad of Imam and
- 23:27Hussein? Why don't they talk about this?
- 23:30Because if, if it happened that, you know, 5 million people
- 23:34descended on Mexico City, it would make the news.
- 23:36Of course, if 5 if 10 million people descended upon Paris, it
- 23:40would make the news. When 30 million people descend
- 23:42upon Karbala, that doesn't make the news.
- 23:45Why? And we're talking about a city
- 23:48which has gone through a war tyranny years, you know, of
- 23:52abjugation and and and and rule under under oppressive regime.
- 23:58And of course, this is a city which is hosting and as you
- 24:01said, Shechna expanding year in, year out.
- 24:03Every year when we go, it feels like the city expands to
- 24:06accommodate and to host all of the Zoawar.
- 24:09And this is something which we see year in year out.
- 24:11And Mahmoud Hussain's message is continuing to grow and, and and
- 24:17manifest in our hearts like something within us which is
- 24:20spiralling out of control. People spend decades of their
- 24:23life studying and learning and mourning and commemorating and
- 24:27researching everything they can about his life, his message, and
- 24:31still can't quite come to terms with it.
- 24:33What is it about this man and his message, his story, which
- 24:37lives within me, in my DNA, in my blood, that I would rather,
- 24:41and we say, we say, may my mother and my father be
- 24:44sacrificed for you. And these are things which you
- 24:46saying Azarat Azarat are allegiance to the Holy Imam Ali
- 24:50Salaam. You know the the distance from
- 24:53his enemies and not just as individuals, as as
- 24:56personalities, but as an identity, as a description of of
- 25:01immorality that we yearn to stay far from.
- 25:04And we make the art to keep away from anything similar to that.
- 25:08And of course to align ourselves, to familiarize
- 25:11ourselves and and to become one in the same of the morality, the
- 25:16the beauty that Imam Hussein adorned us with what he showed
- 25:20on the 10th of Muharram and before and of course where his
- 25:23family continued to show after, said I.
- 25:25Said no, you said it very nicely and I think you're right.
- 25:28He's like the magnet the and that tracks, I think.
- 25:31I think anyone and everyone that just knows something.
- 25:34Even as small as one conversation he had with the
- 25:39enemy on the day of our show. I was like, how can you speak?
- 25:42Like I was hearing the other day of conversations between Imam
- 25:46and Hussein and the enemy. And he would remind them of
- 25:48Allah, remind them who he is, although he knows, like their
- 25:52souls are against him. They're sharpening the arrow and
- 25:55bows like all this is happening. Yeah, He's still converse,
- 25:58giving them an opportunity to change, to change the heart.
- 26:00And that's the warmth of Imam. Hussein, can I add those said
- 26:03and check on with your permission.
- 26:05But this time of year, especially after the day of
- 26:07Ashura, is when people are starting to research, I think
- 26:11before the. We have the same the 10 days we
- 26:16mourn that's given, but then the real work starts.
- 26:20The real work starts of course, and of course the applicability
- 26:23starts then and should start from before.
- 26:25But we feel that the emotional high that we reach shouldn't
- 26:29just be left as an emotional high and and you know, plateau,
- 26:33but rather it should become transformational.
- 26:34But I think, you know, if you check Google Analytics, I'm sure
- 26:37the searches of a man presain's name are higher now than they
- 26:41were a week or two ago at the beginning of the holy month and
- 26:43and so on and so forth. So the question is now, how do
- 26:47we then make it a case where we counter the legacy media?
- 26:50For example, how do we make obviously we, we, we don't want
- 26:55maybe we can that the, the, the discussion of Gaza and Karbala,
- 26:59that's a whole different conversation.
- 27:00But in terms of the relevance of Karbala today, people look
- 27:04around, they see young girls and young boys walking through
- 27:07flames, and they see parents who are carrying body parts of their
- 27:10children. They see people who are denied
- 27:12access to clean water, as, as you said, sheikhna, people who
- 27:16are denying basic human rights to one another.
- 27:19And of course, when we see that today, we are reminded of what
- 27:23took place back then. Now our responsibility is to
- 27:26tell people that this is how we mourn and this is what we
- 27:30learned, the beauty we saw in our tragedy, in our heritage.
- 27:34So I think it's it is more timely for us now than ever to
- 27:37actually embody what we've heard, not just to leave at at
- 27:40the door of the Masjid. And, you know, we beat our
- 27:43chest, we walk out and we continue with our lives, but
- 27:46rather think about how we can take this message to people
- 27:49around us. People are asking questions,
- 27:50Muslim and non-muslim. So, yeah, you know, I've, I've
- 27:55thought a lot about this because I think it it requires
- 28:00reflection. How do you, how do you take this
- 28:05event because ultimately this is this was a historical event, How
- 28:09do you bring it out of the past and make it relative to someone
- 28:13who's just living in the year 2025?
- 28:16Like what if you were to kind of distill?
- 28:19The message of Imam. Hussein like what?
- 28:21What is his message? What is his underlying message?
- 28:23Because I think sometimes. We can get lost in the.
- 28:27Details like what is the take away?
- 28:32You know if even if you look at the Prophet, yes, the Prophet
- 28:34taught many things. But what was the crux?
- 28:38Of his message there's there's there's something very beautiful
- 28:43about the simplicity of that message that.
- 28:46Say that there's only one. God.
- 28:49Affirm that there's only one God and you'll be successful.
- 28:54You'll. You'll attain.
- 28:54Happiness like basically Imam and Hussein Ali Salam for me at
- 29:01least. I think if you look at his.
- 29:05Statements you know, who better to define the movement and the
- 29:09mission of Imam Hussein than the Imam himself?
- 29:11Instead of trying to analyze look, let's look at what Imam
- 29:13says. What does Imam and Hussein say?
- 29:18He says when he's being pressured to to give allegiance
- 29:23to Yazid. He says Allah in Nadai of Nadai
- 29:29the like as a bayonet benicillity with villa wahe hat
- 29:35Mina villa. Imam Hussein Ali.
- 29:39Salaam was given two options, one of two options.
- 29:46Either. You fight or you live in
- 29:52humiliation. You see something that people
- 29:55don't know and don't understand is that.
- 29:59If Yazid. Said I don't.
- 30:02I don't need your Baha, Imam Hussein Alayhi.
- 30:05Saddam probably wouldn't have fought plus.
- 30:09Do whatever you want that's. Between you and Allah, subhanahu
- 30:11and tada, we'll do nahan and monka within our capacity.
- 30:15But the issue here. Is that not only is he unwilling
- 30:19to leave an Imam Hussein, he's not allowing Imam Hussein,
- 30:22Alayhi Saddam to just go on on his way?
- 30:25No, you, you need to endorse me. You need to.
- 30:29Endorse me. So Imam Hussein Ali.
- 30:33Salaam endorsing Yazeed, what does that mean?
- 30:36You give the stamp of approval to hedonism.
- 30:39You give a stamp of approval to godlessness to corruption to.
- 30:44All of the. Things that strip human beings
- 30:48of their dignity. So Imam Hussein Ali.
- 30:51Salaam, he says there, there's either Silla or there's Dilla.
- 30:56Either we fight or there's humiliation, and humiliation is
- 31:01the furthest thing away from us. So ultimately Imam Hussein
- 31:07Alayhi Salaam. His story is about the.
- 31:10Preservation. Of human dignity.
- 31:13And I think if you ask. Any.
- 31:16Any person Muslim. Or non-muslim.
- 31:19Everyone. Everyone wants to live a life of
- 31:21dignity. You know, people don't just
- 31:23want. To live, in fact, human dignity
- 31:27is so important that if you take away dignity, people would
- 31:30rather die. It's actually more important
- 31:32than life. You know, if you look at.
- 31:36Our brothers and sisters in in Reza, for years they were living
- 31:42in an open air prison. Yes, they're alive, but is it?
- 31:46Is that a life of dignity? You know when.
- 31:49You have people in in the UK, in Canada, in the US, they're.
- 31:54Working and they're. Struggling to put food on their
- 31:57table, and they're living in a system that puts them in
- 32:02perpetual debt. Yeah.
- 32:04Shackles them. And they have to compromise
- 32:06their morals to make ends meet. That's a life of dignity.
- 32:10That's not a life of dignity. So the message of human dignity
- 32:14is what resonates with people. And ultimately, Islam is a
- 32:19religion that upholds the dignity of human beings.
- 32:22We'll look at Karamna, Benny, Adam, you know, I think
- 32:24sometimes we have to change the way that we even look at
- 32:27religion. Why is this wajib?
- 32:31Because it preserves, or it at least preserves and increases
- 32:36your honor and your dignity. Why is this Haram?
- 32:40Why is this a sin? Because it compromises, your
- 32:43dignity comes back to dignity. So.
- 32:45So really. Looking at wajib and Haram
- 32:48through the the lens of what's dignified and what strips me of
- 32:52my kalam and that changes everything.
- 32:58Then religion, no. Longer becomes this kind of
- 33:00limiting tradition, Yeah. It becomes.
- 33:04All about God honored me and this is how I preserve my honor,
- 33:09right. Yeah, something that highly.
- 33:13It does frustrate us, but I think we've learned to move
- 33:15past. It is every single year when we
- 33:18mention the name of Imam Hussein Ali Salaam, there is of a
- 33:23toxicity that we see in front of our eyes.
- 33:26There's of of a putrid response that we see online from Nawasib
- 33:31and you know, all of their followers and those who come out
- 33:34and they throw every single accusation at the follower of
- 33:38about Abdullah and Aya Salaam. And we whatever we acknowledge
- 33:42it, we accept it. Whatever we ignore it to a
- 33:44degree as well. That's one thing.
- 33:46We put that aside like, you know, you say what you want
- 33:48about us, but to mention anything, any blemish on our
- 33:52imam is a red line. Now, we live in a day and age
- 33:56today where we have different types of speakers across the
- 33:59Muslim world. Some, of course, are more
- 34:02aggressive in their approach. And I'm talking about the neo
- 34:06Salafis, the ones who will come out, the metalis who will come
- 34:10out, for example, and be very vocal in their approach.
- 34:13They will come out and throw accusations and they'll they'll
- 34:16distort history and they'll pick and choose why art and distort
- 34:19them and so on. And then you've obviously got
- 34:21other speakers who are more tactical in their approach, more
- 34:23strategic. They speak with a sweet silver
- 34:27forked tongue, for example, and they'll talk about the the story
- 34:31of Karbala and they'll make it a sad and you know, a story which
- 34:34will the masses. But at the same time, we'll,
- 34:37we'll slowly and slightly change the narrative of Karbala by a
- 34:41couple of degrees to make everyone believe that this is
- 34:44what actually happened. Whether you're Sunni or Shia, we
- 34:46can agree with this, for example.
- 34:48Now, one of the things and with your permission is, yeah, we're
- 34:50going to throw a few of these misconceptions at you.
- 34:53Statements that people say online, specifically preachers
- 34:57to Muslims and of course, unfortunately, some of our youth
- 35:01may fall into the trap of, you know, believing these these
- 35:04these fallacies, but how we may be able to respond to them.
- 35:09So when we're in school and university in the workplace and
- 35:12we come across Muslims of other mvaheb who throw these
- 35:16statements to us, how we might respond.
- 35:18The first of which, and I, I think arguably sets the
- 35:21precedent for all the following questions, is that the Imam,
- 35:25Alayhi Salaam fought a political battle and his battle was
- 35:28nothing more than a fight for political leadership.
- 35:32I know you've addressed this in the form of Doreed and Standing
- 35:35up for justice. And before the podcast you
- 35:36mentioned some very important points to me about the soil of
- 35:39Imam and Hassen and so on and so forth.
- 35:41But this is something we've seen especially in the last 20 years
- 35:45from speakers of different Mobahib across the world, the
- 35:48English speaking world. How do we respond to that
- 35:50accusation? That that that the.
- 35:53Movement of Imam Hussein was purely political and he went
- 35:56against. He went against the.
- 35:57The, the, the, so the idea of, of some Setafi speakers is that
- 36:01we love Imam and Hussein Ali Saddam, but he was kind of
- 36:04misguided by some of the, the Shias of the time.
- 36:07And he, he started a revolution that he shouldn't have.
- 36:11He kind of misread the political situation.
- 36:14OK, that's your argument. So why would the Prophet?
- 36:17Mourn him. 50 years. Before Karbala, if he made a
- 36:22mistake, why would the Prophet cry?
- 36:26Why would Jibril bring the soil of Karbala?
- 36:29If all this was just a political thing, if it was an error in
- 36:33judgement, why is this error in judgement so sanctified?
- 36:40So. Your is your prophet, is he?
- 36:45Is he honoring the error of Hussein?
- 36:50It's ridiculous. The the the fact that the
- 36:53Prophet is crying, he's shedding tears.
- 36:56Jabrai the Archangel of Allah is saying that Yah rasool Allah,
- 37:01this Hussein is going to be killed in Karbala.
- 37:04Here is the soil. It's very obvious.
- 37:08That this is this is the language of sanctity.
- 37:11It's not the language of a political miscalculation.
- 37:15I mean, you, you have to have a little bit of respect for your
- 37:17intellect that if that if, if you, you really believe that
- 37:22you're going to face the prophet and say that, Oh yeah, you wept
- 37:2650 years before Karabella and you gave the soil of Karabella
- 37:31to and it was all just a political error.
- 37:33I mean, for the love of God, have some shame in front of the
- 37:36prophet. So I think when you look.
- 37:39At the hadith where the Prophet is weeping for Imam Hussein and
- 37:44he was the first one of this omen to weep for Imam Hussein.
- 37:48So I think that if someone is honest and if they put their
- 37:52sectarianism and their bias on to to the side, I think the
- 37:55truth is, is very clear. But as the Quran says, there are
- 37:58some people. You know what jihad would be.
- 38:00How was state Kanata and Fuson? There are some people.
- 38:05It's not. The truth is clear, but the
- 38:07hearts just don't want to submit to it.
- 38:10That's between them and Allah Subhanahu Tata.
- 38:11But to the objective students of Islamic history, to the
- 38:16objective students of the Hadith, there is no doubt that
- 38:21the Prophet was was mourning and grieving over the martyrdom of
- 38:27his beloved grandson who who basically saved this this
- 38:31religion. Hakim.
- 38:34And nature, Pauline Mustadrak Allah Sahai.
- 38:36And he mentions this hadith, which of course is and it's
- 38:40mentioned in in multiple sources.
- 38:42We're not talking about, you know, this kind of orphan
- 38:44narration, the singular narration of one off.
- 38:46This is a very well documented, but it's frustrating that a lot
- 38:50of them see the Imam Ali, Saddam, and we've said this
- 38:53before, two brothers, 7 and 8 years old.
- 38:56They taught the old guy how to do a law Kalos, their two kids,
- 38:59the grandsons of the holy Prophet Muhammad.
- 39:01And they leave at that. You want you want to hear
- 39:02something funny? You just reminded me of
- 39:03something. I once met a Sheikh in the US.
- 39:09He he, he's a revert. He was.
- 39:13He was Christian. He embraced.
- 39:16Sunni Islam. And then he became Shia.
- 39:20You know, this is usually the the kind of the evolution.
- 39:22Yeah, yeah. So I asked him in this, my, my
- 39:25habit is I, I love to hear reversion stories.
- 39:29So we were having a conversation and I said that So what made you
- 39:35take the leap from Sunni Islam to Shia Islam?
- 39:38Because I mean, let's be honest, you know, Sunni Islam, they have
- 39:40more institutions, more resources.
- 39:42Like what made you take that leap?
- 39:46And I'll never forget his. Words he said as a Sunni.
- 39:54I noticed that Hassan. And Hussein never grow up.
- 39:59They're always just the little cute grandsons of the Prophet in
- 40:03Medina. It's as if the story just ends
- 40:07and no one wants to talk about what happened.
- 40:11But then when you look at what happened after the death of the
- 40:14Prophet, it's actually despicable.
- 40:17It's very dark and. If you, if you love me, if you
- 40:23look at how much the Prophet loved Hassan and Hussein, to be
- 40:27so indifferent about the tragedies that they faced, I
- 40:32mean, the prophet, I mean, we're not just talking about an
- 40:35emotional love that a grandfather has for his
- 40:37grandsons. When the Prophet says Al Hassan,
- 40:40Al Hussein Sayedah Shabab, Al Jannah, he's not just saying
- 40:45that they're good people who are going to go to Jannah.
- 40:49They are the masters. Of the youth of.
- 40:52Paradise. And by the way.
- 40:55They're only youth in. Paradise.
- 40:57Some say there's men. But what does that mean?
- 41:03You know, one of one of the Olama of Elif.
- 41:05I don't want to mention names, but he said that when you say
- 41:11that Hassan and Hussein are the Sayeds of the youth of Paradise,
- 41:16what does that mean? Everyone not just that.
- 41:20What's the opposite opposite of a say it?
- 41:22If I'm your say it, what does that make you slip follow So my
- 41:26ABT. So what does that mean?
- 41:30That means one of the pleasures of Jenna is to be at the service
- 41:35of Hassan and Hussein beautiful. What does that?
- 41:39What does that mean? That there there is a.
- 41:42Joy in being, just being at the service of these two grandsons
- 41:47of the prophet. Yeah, if Hussein is my Satan,
- 41:49what does that mean? I'm his AB, I'm his servant.
- 41:51I'm his Haddam. Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah.
- 41:54Inshallah we take this. Helmet to to the hereafter, she
- 41:57continues. Shall I just want to talk about
- 42:00this matter of you know, Imam Hussein Imam Hassan they stayed
- 42:03young and everything. So conversation me and Ahmed
- 42:06reference during our conversations week in week out.
- 42:08Sometimes when we relate to the Sunni world, why they don't talk
- 42:12about the elevate much, but is there a reason?
- 42:16Where they I? Would say fail to narrate what
- 42:21happened the tragic martyrdom of Muhammad Hussein Do they
- 42:24purposely would would you say they purposely not narrates or
- 42:29they have ignorance of this? Yeah, because just one something
- 42:32to that I just. As part of that question, and
- 42:35when we say, say the Shabab Ahad agenda, and we mentioned this on
- 42:38our group chat today, ironically, that does that mean
- 42:41that that because they are the masters of the youth of
- 42:43Paradise, the highest station, that their Al Qaeda is fully
- 42:48perfected as stated by Rasul Allah?
- 42:51And therefore wherever they stood is where those who enter
- 42:55paradise should have stood. And in the same sense where Imam
- 42:58Hussein and Imam Hassan Alayhi Musalam stood in Jamal, stood in
- 43:01Safin, stood in Karbala and those who stood with them on
- 43:05these sides, is that not an indication of what the perfected
- 43:08al Qaeda is? Sorry.
- 43:09Just as an extension, you know, let's make it even more simple
- 43:12than that. You know, put put Imam and
- 43:14Hassan, Imam Hassan on the side for a moment.
- 43:16Let's just kind of speak in the language of Muslims in general,
- 43:19right? The rightly guided Khalifas.
- 43:21Can we agree that Ali have never thought of as a rightly guided
- 43:23Khalifa? I think, I think all Muslims
- 43:25would be like, OK, whether we're Shia or Sunni.
- 43:27Ali is rightly guided. When rightly.
- 43:31Guided is being fought against. Does it make?
- 43:35Does it, doesn't it make the opposition wrongly guided?
- 43:37Of course, Yeah. It's really that simple.
- 43:42So how can how can you be rightly guided and also those
- 43:46who fought you are rightly guided.
- 43:48And then Imam Hussein, Alayhi, Saeed, Shabab, Al Jannah.
- 43:52And he's also being fought by people who are all the alarm.
- 43:54Yanni, as we say in Iraq, what it is a mezela.
- 43:57Yeah. How much, Yanni?
- 43:58What kind of agenda is this that has no standards?
- 44:02Yanni Jenna has no. Standards that hat and bottle
- 44:06are that blurred and and like nothing matters anymore it's
- 44:09just a misunderstanding. It's just a misunderstanding.
- 44:12Yeah yeah I mean as they say, you know whatever allows people
- 44:15to sleep at night. I think ultimately we have to
- 44:18face a loss of Hana Mata Allah. And we have we're held
- 44:21accountable for our actions and our beliefs.
- 44:25And yeah, I think the I think the truth is, is, is evident.
- 44:29Is the truth bitter? Yeah, the truth is bitter.
- 44:31You see, the the problem is, is say the idea was asking, you
- 44:34know, what is it Is, is this kind of an intentional omission?
- 44:37Listen, I don't want to get into a conversation about intentions.
- 44:40Allah knows what's in people's hearts.
- 44:41But I'll tell you this, Karabella opens up a lot of
- 44:46uncomfortable questions. It's easier not.
- 44:50To open up Pandora's box, because Karabella is Pandora's
- 44:53box. So when you look at.
- 44:56Karabella, OK Omara bin Saad is appointed by who?
- 45:02Ibn Ziad? Ibn Ziad is appointed by who?
- 45:05Yazid. OK how did the Yazid come into
- 45:07power? Muawiya Ravi Allahuhan was
- 45:11appointed by who? Abu Baker.
- 45:13It was by Omar. So if you, you can literally
- 45:19draw a line from the massacre of Imam and Hussein back to Satifa.
- 45:27So if you think of Satifa as if you look at it as 2 trees, one
- 45:32tree produced a fruit or a rotten fruit like Yazid and
- 45:40another tree which is the household of the prophet
- 45:43Shahjaratun Nubua that produced Hussein.
- 45:48I know which tree I want to belong to.
- 45:49I know which tree I want to take my spiritual nourishment from.
- 45:54So it's it's it's really. About.
- 45:57Asking, I mean I. Think there's there's a
- 45:59reluctance to go down that path because guess what, you're not
- 46:03going to get good answers you're.
- 46:05Going to be told. It's not in your business.
- 46:08Just focus on your Salah. It was a fit.
- 46:11Now Allah's not going to ask you about it, right?
- 46:15So don't, don't get involved, right?
- 46:18So. And I, and I think that this,
- 46:20this mentality is, is actually is actually very, very
- 46:24dangerous, right? Because.
- 46:27A loss of Hana Matala. Ultimately wants us.
- 46:30To find the straight. Path and the straight path is
- 46:33not this ambiguous abstract idea.
- 46:37Every day in Salah he didn't Salah Mustafim guide us to the
- 46:39straight path. What is the straight path?
- 46:41Sarah Paladina and I'm Talahim. The straight path is embodied by
- 46:47certain individuals. So I need to figure.
- 46:50Out who are Aladina and I'm Talahim.
- 46:54I also because the. Quran says What does the Quran
- 46:56say? This is a very important I am.
- 46:59This is a a direct. Command of Allah, all you
- 47:06believe, do not take as your olia, as your guardians those
- 47:13who have incurred the wrath of God.
- 47:15So if someone. Among the companions of.
- 47:18The Prophet, if they have angered Allah, Allah says don't
- 47:21make him your Willy. So this brings us back to.
- 47:25What? You, you bring this ayah.
- 47:28You place it beside the hadith about Fatima to Zara.
- 47:32Anyone who angers Fatima to Zara, according to the Quran, I
- 47:35cannot make him wipe my welly. But unfortunately, what do
- 47:38Muslims do? The one who angered Fatima,
- 47:42angered the Prophet, angered Allah.
- 47:45You guys made them your. Leaders.
- 47:47And you wonder why the? Muslim is in shambles.
- 47:50Can I add another misconception or another statement which we we
- 47:54had a lot during the days, the 10 nights and this was coming
- 47:59out from some of the major speakers in the UK, Madhali
- 48:04speakers, these Hyde Park corner speakers, corner debaters who we
- 48:09don't give much attention to because giving oxygen to that
- 48:11encourages a form of dialogue which we don't believe is
- 48:14befitting of the Akhlaq of the AL Abeita Lehman Salam Nord,
- 48:17their followers. But one thing which we heard
- 48:20said Ali will verify because we we sent this video to me saying
- 48:23is that the killers of ABBA Abdullah were the Shia are
- 48:26themselves. And we hear this every year,
- 48:28year in year out, without fail, anytime Imam Hussein's mentioned
- 48:32the Shia Amor for Hussein, the Shia.
- 48:34I love Hussein to say yeah, but the Shia are the ones who killed
- 48:36the Imam. My personal opinion if I can
- 48:38share, please correct me if I'm wrong.
- 48:40Shahna, Firstly I believe the ones who abandoned and and did
- 48:44not stand with the Imam were at fault.
- 48:46Of course they were silent and they choose not to stand with
- 48:50the Imam. Were they Shia theologically?
- 48:54No, I don't believe so. I believe that they may have
- 48:57been Shia with a small S on a political level, those who
- 49:00pledged a political allegiance to the holy Imam Ali Salaam, but
- 49:03they were not those who followed theologically.
- 49:05The Imam in the core sense of Willaya and Imam as it should
- 49:09have been followed and had they been those people, then they
- 49:12would have been like the 72 in Karbala or however many of there
- 49:15were. What is the response we should
- 49:18give? Because of course, like I said,
- 49:20this is something we hear year in year out.
- 49:22So you want, you want to keep it just very simple.
- 49:24You don't even need to go into any of these details.
- 49:27Imam and Hussein on the day of Ashura, he's speaking to the
- 49:29army of Amar of Assad. He's speaking to his enemies.
- 49:32What does he say? Yashi at Al ABI Sufyan, There
- 49:37you go, game of. He doesn't say my Shia, why did
- 49:39you betray me? He calls the army on the other
- 49:43side the Shia of Al Abu Sufyan. That's it.
- 49:48That's it. Case closed.
- 49:50Case closed. We don't need to go into details
- 49:52and act like this is an argument that requires, you know,
- 49:55research. Imam Hussein called them yashi
- 49:58at Al ABI Sufyan. That's it.
- 50:01Next question. I said, I said said that.
- 50:03Some other one. Yeah, that's like you put the
- 50:06argument to an end. I mean, this is this is a, an
- 50:09individual. I shared the clip today with
- 50:11you. Someone comes in year and year
- 50:13out, any opportunity he has to say that Shia killed Imam
- 50:16Hussein. And because they killed Imam
- 50:18Hussein, now they beat themselves as a punishment from
- 50:20Allah. Have you heard this one?
- 50:22Yeah, of course. Like, it's they even try to,
- 50:25like, belittle the Aza that we have, the mourning that we have
- 50:28for the beloved grandson of Rasoolallah.
- 50:29And they know. They know Rasoolallah said
- 50:32Hossein and Mini 1 Hussain. They know that Rasoolallah said
- 50:35Habalam and Haba Hussein. You know, on top of the
- 50:38misinformation that they tell their listeners and their
- 50:41audience and their congregation, on top of that, I want to know
- 50:44why do people find it easy to mock the lovers of Imam Al
- 50:51Hussein A Shia when we mourn about Abdullah?
- 50:56You know, I think that there are probably some of them if we want
- 51:02to give them the benefit of the doubt, who might see Shias as
- 51:06misguided. Yeah.
- 51:08But I would say that let's let's assume and for someone to come
- 51:11and. Say like hypothetically, Yeah,
- 51:13let's. Say that there's someone who's
- 51:14not Shia that truly believes the Shias are misguided.
- 51:17OK, fine. You're a Muslim, right?
- 51:20You believe in the Quran. OK, If you think I'm misguided,
- 51:28if you think I'm someone who's lost, I'm a deviant, at least
- 51:31speak to me with wisdom. Have good luck.
- 51:34Why are you mocking me? Is that?
- 51:36Is that how the Prophet was? So it's.
- 51:39Very interesting that in their attempt to guide us, they're
- 51:44actually violating a Quranic instruction, which is if you
- 51:48really believe that these people are misguided, where is your
- 51:51clock? You know, why is it that you,
- 51:53you know a lot look at the at least if you, if you don't think
- 51:56we're Muslim, at least have the decency to speak to us the way
- 52:01that the Prophet would speak to Ahil Kitab.
- 52:05So I think, I think. The problem is, I mean,
- 52:08sometimes, I mean, you don't know whether to, to get angry or
- 52:10to, you know, to laugh or to cry.
- 52:13A lot of these people, they're brainwashed, they're brainwashed
- 52:17and you know, sometimes just as as as brother Ahmed mentioned,
- 52:22sometimes you have to remind yourself of the Quranic verse,
- 52:25whether just keep on keep on mocking.
- 52:29And by the way, next year is the is going to be bigger and you
- 52:33know what your. Son and your.
- 52:35Grandson is probably going to become Shia anyway.
- 52:40It's the reality the. Game's the game, right?
- 52:42And you. But, you know, I'm not saying
- 52:44that to sound cocky. Yeah.
- 52:45Yeah. Because all all it, all it, you
- 52:52know, the truth just has to arrive to knockout falsehood it
- 52:57like there doesn't even need to actually be like a fight between
- 52:59Hut and Botlin. All you know how much money is
- 53:02spent on propaganda. You know, it's kind of funny
- 53:05that all this, all these resources to scare people away
- 53:10from the Shia and then some Muslim randomly comes to a
- 53:15Masjid on the day of Outafit and he listens to the dua of Imam
- 53:20Hussein and he's like, you know, what if if Dua al Imam al
- 53:23Hussein Yom out of it, It's that shirk dude.
- 53:25Sign me up, AMA Mushrik. What I'm trying to say is.
- 53:29That it's pure to hate. Like sometimes all it takes to
- 53:33undo all of this propaganda is just to show them, let them read
- 53:37the, the, the, the duas that I had to debate themselves.
- 53:41So it's all to me, it's all background.
- 53:42It is, it is, you know, this, this tsunami, this Husseini
- 53:47tsunami. Is is.
- 53:50Something that that cannot be blocked.
- 53:53That's it. It's gonna, it's gonna, it's
- 53:55gonna take over. And I think if you look at the
- 53:57the political situation around the world, you know, there is,
- 54:01there is a new interest, it's kindled an interest in people
- 54:06to. Research.
- 54:07Like what? What is it about Shia Islam that
- 54:12creates people who are so defiant, so unwavering?
- 54:18You know, there's, it's like an, it's like a noble defiance.
- 54:23And all of these people. Have one thing in common.
- 54:26Labeka Abdullah Labeka Hussein. So I my humble suggestion is,
- 54:32you know, to all of your listeners, especially those who
- 54:34are non-muslim or non Shia, read don't be blind sheep.
- 54:40Do your own investigation and any, any scholar of any method
- 54:44that says all, be careful. You know, these people are
- 54:46misguided, you know? No Shia.
- 54:52Scholar is ever going to say to you don't read Muslim, Ahmed bin
- 54:55Hamdan, don't read Bukhari as a as a shitty student of
- 55:00knowledge, Ask any Shia scholar, they'll say read Bukhari, read
- 55:04Muslim, read Tariq. But you read whatever you want
- 55:07because that's how confident we are that we are upon the we know
- 55:12that the answers are all there. I'm not getting.
- 55:14Yeah. And we're not living in the
- 55:15Middle Ages where like, you know, don't read this book.
- 55:17We're going to, you know, burn these books at the stakes.
- 55:19Grow up. Grow up.
- 55:22And you know, you mentioned just a final point for me before we
- 55:25wrap up, but this, the propaganda machine against us
- 55:29won't succeed forever. When you look at the political
- 55:32stakes. You mentioned of course, the new
- 55:33interest in Shiism said, and I were talking about this on a
- 55:37recent discussion, Senator Marco Rubio coming out and talking
- 55:40about the the Shia and the eschatological background and
- 55:44who is the Mehdi and why they're working towards this messianical
- 55:47figure and all of this. Everything will come back.
- 55:50The truth will prevail. Imam and Mehdi Arjala, Arjala to
- 55:54Allah for Ajal Sharif will come and he will say those five
- 55:57statements that that about of which three of them are about
- 55:59his grandfather, about Abdullah. And when he talks about my
- 56:02grandfather who died thirsty and the Kharib and Akshan and all of
- 56:06these things, people will be asking.
- 56:08That's the same Hussein who I heard about, who my colleague
- 56:12told me about, which I saw on the street.
- 56:14And this brings us to another important point and maybe we'll
- 56:17conclude with this. The story of Imam.
- 56:21Hussein Alayhi Salaam is the story that is going to ignite
- 56:28the final revolution in this world.
- 56:30Why in the beginning, what did we say?
- 56:32What was the underlying message of Imam Hussein which is related
- 56:37to Torhid? At the end of Do I lift it?
- 56:40Ah, what do we say Allahum in Narabu Ile kafi dolatin?
- 56:48The government. Of Imam Sahib Zaman is a
- 56:51government that upholds the Karam of human beings and the
- 56:56most inspiring story about the dignity of the human being is
- 57:03the story of Imam Hussein. That's that's the.
- 57:06Manifesto of human dignity, yeah.
- 57:08So that that's the connection. And that's why it's really,
- 57:11really important that we export and we propagate the narrative
- 57:18of of Karbala because that that's the story.
- 57:23That's the story that's going to get people involved.
- 57:27That's the story that's going to inspire people.
- 57:30This is the story that creates, you know, the axis of
- 57:34resistance. This is the story that is really
- 57:38the final hope. I mean this, this is the final
- 57:40hope against degeneracy in the world.
- 57:44So. I think that that's where we see
- 57:47the connection and I think we're, we're, we're blessed to,
- 57:52to listen to the story year after year, year.
- 57:55And it's, you know, the, the story of Karabella is, is a very
- 57:59beautiful blend of grief and hope.
- 58:05We grieve. What happened to?
- 58:08Imam and Hussein Arias Salaam, but we also have hope that.
- 58:14What Hussein was. Seeking will be achieved by Imam
- 58:17and Mehdi and I, I mean I if with your permission, I just
- 58:20want to read for you just the first couple of statements from
- 58:25the last dua of Imam and Hussein.
- 58:28And as we said, you, you can measure the greatness of a
- 58:33person by by the final chapter. So what was the final?
- 58:38Chapter of Hussein. The final chapter of Imam and
- 58:41Hussein was communion with Allah.
- 58:43But look at what he says. He says Allahumma.
- 58:46Enter Theati Fiqulikar. He says, oh Allah, you are my
- 58:54trust. You're the one who I trust in,
- 58:56in every affliction, every tragedy, not just the tragedy of
- 58:59Karbala. From the beginning of my life, I
- 59:03always trusted you. And then what does he say?
- 59:06What? Enter Ajahi.
- 59:11What enter? Ajahi Fiqulishid.
- 59:15And you are my. Hope in every severe
- 59:19tribulation. What hope?
- 59:22You know, if you look at Imam. Hussein Ali Salaam, he lost
- 59:25everything. What do you mean hope?
- 59:26What hope? Imam Hussein is.
- 59:31Teaching us that no matter what happens to you in this life,
- 59:34don't ever lose hope in Allah. His last words were I have so
- 59:40much hope in God. Imam Hussein.
- 59:43Looking around, you know. He reject he.
- 59:48Rejected and condemned what was happening to his family, but at
- 59:52the same time, Imam Hussein was content with the system of God.
- 59:59And the system of God does not leave any good deed without
- 1:00:02reward, and it doesn't. It doesn't leave any oppression
- 1:00:07without punishment. That That's Hussein.
- 1:00:11And I think that you need to live in this world with that
- 1:00:14spirit that yes, a lot of bad things are happening, But you
- 1:00:17know what? I'm pleased with the system of
- 1:00:20God. I have hope.
- 1:00:23That the scores will. Be settled one day, right?
- 1:00:26And the the. Oppressors, the oppressors will
- 1:00:28be punished and the good doers will be rewarded, you know, and
- 1:00:31it reminds me of the the Ziata of Imam and Hussein in the
- 1:00:36middle of Shaban. And maybe I think this is
- 1:00:38probably the best way to end where we say to Imam and Hussein
- 1:00:42ash had to Eneka putilt. Well, I'm Tamut.
- 1:00:48I bear witness that you were killed.
- 1:00:50But you didn't die. Bell be Raja.
- 1:01:00It's through. You were your perpetual life.
- 1:01:04You look around, Imam and Hussein is so alive today.
- 1:01:07It's through your perpetual life that you give us life.
- 1:01:12And I think that every time we step into the majlis of Imam
- 1:01:15Hussein, we feel like we come back to life because we're never
- 1:01:21going to allow the darkness and the corruption of this world to
- 1:01:26kill our hearts. As long as we have Imam Hussein
- 1:01:29Ali Salaam, we have hearts that are alive.
- 1:01:32And I think the world needs more people with with beating hearts,
- 1:01:36with hearts that are alive so. This so beautifully sure and we
- 1:01:40Allah bless you do the topic to continue serving the EHRL debate
- 1:01:44and Imam Hussein Ali has Salaam. I really love how you bring
- 1:01:48those finals same as I am converse with the last panel of
- 1:01:51Italian. Remind me of also other moments
- 1:01:53during the day of Ashura, even at the very final moment when he
- 1:01:56was holding. After Ravi in his.
- 1:02:00Hands and he says you know I love this is what pleases you.
- 1:02:03Take all you want from me, and what makes it easy for me is to
- 1:02:06know that this is under your watchful eyes.
- 1:02:08Yeah. I mean, there is myself.
- 1:02:09There is there is a day of judgment.
- 1:02:10Like even sometimes we reference resident, like many people ask,
- 1:02:13for example, like, how are these people getting away with murder?
- 1:02:16Like, how is like Netanyahu just walking around?
- 1:02:19But there is a lot. There is a day of judgment where
- 1:02:22they will be held accountable, you know, and and.
- 1:02:25You know, sometimes we have to always remind ourselves that.
- 1:02:28This life. Is so short on the day of
- 1:02:32judgement, we're all going to look back and say libeth Nyomen
- 1:02:35Obama Yom. It was just a day or part of a
- 1:02:38day. Well, in the Ahiratellahi al
- 1:02:41Hayawan. The real life.
- 1:02:44Is is after death, you know, and you know the last letter that
- 1:02:48Imam Hussein wrote, the last written letter was what he wrote
- 1:02:50to Muhammad al Hanifiya, his brother.
- 1:02:53The shortest letter. You know what he says?
- 1:02:55Such a beautiful, eloquent statement, Imam and Hussein Ali
- 1:03:00Salaam says to his brother. Can the Dunya lemtaquin?
- 1:03:06It's as if this world. Never was.
- 1:03:08It's fleeting, it's so short. What can?
- 1:03:12It's as if the hereafter is all that there ever was.
- 1:03:22Thank you so much. Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:03:24I have one suggestion by the way, please.
- 1:03:26What is it like? Almost.
- 1:03:28So instead of I think you should change your shows name to before
- 1:03:32Feijo instead of aftermath. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:35May Allah Subhanahu Taala bless you guys.
- 1:03:36And of course, may Allah bless the eyes of say the ID for his
- 1:03:40tears. May Allah bless all of you for
- 1:03:41your tears. And may Allah bless our parents
- 1:03:46for raising us with they would I have a headed bait.

- 1:04:24continue the message of about the Alayhi Salaam far and wide
