- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, LSU-Ole Miss, massive game in the Grove this weekend.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We've got your complete matchup guide to it. TJ Pittenger,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Graham Coffey, presented by PrizePix. Talk more about them in
- 0:11Speaker 1: a few minutes. But, Graham, the off-the-field drama is not
- 0:16Speaker 1: something we dive into much on this. This is kind
- 0:19Speaker 1: of the deep-dive analytical drama. you know, show, right? Like
- 0:23Speaker 1: what really sets these teams apart. But I don't think
- 0:26Speaker 1: you can do a matchup like this and not talk
- 0:30Speaker 1: about how those things operate.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Like.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Is there any precedent? And I think Ole Miss is
- 0:34Speaker 1: actually a great example of it, like blocking out the
- 0:37Speaker 1: noise just literally from the last playoffs that we just
- 0:39Speaker 1: had and going out and performing and doing what they
- 0:43Speaker 1: needed to do in the playoffs. I mean, they were
- 0:45Speaker 1: this close to beating Miami and going to the national
- 0:48Speaker 1: championship game. Now, I probably would have favored Indiana there,
- 0:51Speaker 1: but it would have been fun to see. Not that Miami,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Indiana wasn't good. but Ole Miss is really good precedent.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Can you think of any times, maybe I should have
- 0:58Speaker 1: prepared you a little better for this. Think of times
- 0:59Speaker 1: where like teams weren't able to block out the noise
- 1:01Speaker 1: or like as much as we like to dive into
- 1:03Speaker 1: the analytics, you cannot ignore what's happening on the sidelines
- 1:07Speaker 1: of this game. And I do wonder, cause I don't
- 1:10Speaker 1: buy into that much. I do wonder though, how much
- 1:12Speaker 1: it factors into this specific matchup.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I mean, look, I think last year coming into the playoffs,
- 1:21Speaker 2: there was sort of a, wide, widely held perception that,
- 1:25Speaker 2: that Ole Miss would not be able to block.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Out the noise. Right.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So, you know, we, we've seen now a couple of
- 1:32Speaker 2: times in a row in college football where teams have
- 1:34Speaker 2: had like Michigan in 2023 had a ton of outside
- 1:38Speaker 2: noise and handled it well. And, and, you know, really,
- 1:43Speaker 2: I think it rallied them together late in that season
- 1:46Speaker 2: and maybe helped propel them to a national title. So I, I,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I tend to think that maybe it's helping teams more
- 1:54Speaker 2: than guys like you and I would expect, right? I
- 1:57Speaker 2: think that it could be sort of a, a way
- 2:00Speaker 2: to rally the troops and get everyone to have that
- 2:03Speaker 2: internal focus when it comes to this particular matchup, more
- 2:09Speaker 2: so for the Ole Miss side. I don't know how
- 2:13Speaker 2: you can block out the noise with just the level
- 2:16Speaker 2: of personal relationships that exist, right? Like, Lane recruited a
- 2:21Speaker 2: lot of these guys and I think the challenge for Pete.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Golding and his staff this week is do.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You channel that properly to get your guys to play
- 2:31Speaker 2: really hard and they're giving you maximum effort on every
- 2:35Speaker 2: single play through the whistle instead of guys are going
- 2:40Speaker 2: past the whistle and committing dumb penalties or they're trying
- 2:44Speaker 2: to do too much too early and pressing.
- 2:47Speaker 3: That is going to be the storyline of this game
- 2:49Speaker 3: for me.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And I think it is particularly pressing just considering the
- 2:53Speaker 2: fact that this version of Ole Miss that we've known
- 2:56Speaker 2: over the last year and some change has been a really,
- 3:00Speaker 2: really good fourth quarter team, right? Like they've been excellent
- 3:04Speaker 2: in second halves. They were excellent in the second halves
- 3:07Speaker 2: of games in the playoffs last year. They were very
- 3:10Speaker 2: good in the second half against Louisville, especially offensively, I
- 3:13Speaker 2: guess the other, the other week and week one. So
- 3:16Speaker 2: I'm very curious about, how this all matches out, like
- 3:19Speaker 2: coming into the season at sec media days, I remember
- 3:23Speaker 2: telling people like, I am going to just, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 2: pick Ole Miss in this game, no matter what, based
- 3:32Speaker 2: on vibes alone. But now here we are that week.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And I'm not sure I feel that way.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Well, I want to go exactly from what you just
- 3:39Speaker 1: said on the Ole Miss Louisville game. They were really
- 3:42Speaker 1: good offensively in the second half. were they bad defensively
- 3:47Speaker 1: in the second half or is Lincoln kind holes, keen holes,
- 3:49Speaker 1: kind of a dude. And, you know, just like Trinidad
- 3:51Speaker 1: makes plays Louisville has Isaac Brown and keen holes and
- 3:54Speaker 1: some weapons too. And the other team is allowed to
- 3:56Speaker 1: make plays too, right? Like it's not all, you know,
- 3:59Speaker 1: very rarely does the team win 59, nothing. So takeaways
- 4:03Speaker 1: on Ole miss's defense, because I think that's where we
- 4:05Speaker 1: know what Trinidad is. We know what Lacey is. We
- 4:08Speaker 1: know offensively, not that we won't talk about those things,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but man, for them to win this game, yeah, the
- 4:13Speaker 1: defense has to play more like the first half defense
- 4:15Speaker 1: than the second half defense. And that was game one.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And you are trying to figure things out. Louisville was
- 4:18Speaker 1: trying to figure things out there too, but they certainly
- 4:21Speaker 1: can't play like they did in week one against Louisville
- 4:24Speaker 1: in the second half and expect that Sam Leavitt is
- 4:26Speaker 1: just going to forget how to throw the football and
- 4:28Speaker 1: Weiss and Lane are going to forget how to call games.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I mean, like, look, you know, there's the old adage
- 4:35Speaker 2: of teams never improve more in a season than they
- 4:37Speaker 2: do between week one and week two. I think that's
- 4:39Speaker 2: often true in college football, not always, but yeah, You know,
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, like Oregon did not improve dramatically between week
- 4:46Speaker 2: one and week two.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Like, you know, the problems that existed against Boise State
- 4:50Speaker 2: defensively existed against Oklahoma State and they got beat because
- 4:53Speaker 2: of it. So to assume that that that's going to
- 4:56Speaker 2: happen for Ole Miss feels like a stretch to me.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I do think Keenan Holtz is kind of a dude. Right.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Like he had recruiting pedigree and we saw him do
- 5:05Speaker 2: things on the run that I didn't expect him to do,
- 5:08Speaker 2: especially in essentially the first real action of his college career.
- 5:13Speaker 3: So, yes, he was good, and Ole Miss' defense also
- 5:17Speaker 3: had issues.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I think one thing I'm fond of saying is good
- 5:21Speaker 2: offense always beats good defense, and this was a case
- 5:25Speaker 2: of good offense being on display and not bad defense,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but not great defense either. What concerns me if I
- 5:36Speaker 2: am Ole Miss looking at how that game came out
- 5:39Speaker 2: was the inability to keep Keane Holtz in the pocket,
- 5:42Speaker 2: the inability to really affect him consistently with your pass rush,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and then the problems that you had on scramble drill.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Because Sam Levitt likes to do a lot of those
- 5:52Speaker 2: things and likes to break pockets. And the good news
- 5:57Speaker 2: maybe is Trinidad is that kind of quarterback, so they
- 5:59Speaker 2: do see that a lot in practice. But The lack
- 6:03Speaker 2: of organization in that secondary really reminded me of the
- 6:08Speaker 2: Ole Miss defenses that it felt like we saw under
- 6:10Speaker 2: Pete Golding kind of before November of last year, like
- 6:14Speaker 2: the Ole Miss defense that got scored on in every
- 6:16Speaker 2: possession against Georgia last year. That was much more the
- 6:20Speaker 2: vibe I got against Louisville than the one that really
- 6:24Speaker 2: became good at creating havoc plays and pass rush and
- 6:29Speaker 2: kind of like Yes, it might give up some drives
- 6:32Speaker 2: in November, December, January of last year, but they would
- 6:35Speaker 2: come up with plays as the field shrunk to kind
- 6:39Speaker 2: of force field goals and really just sort of hold
- 6:42Speaker 2: serve for their offense.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm not trying to give them too hard of a
- 6:45Speaker 1: time over a game they won by 31 points, but
- 6:47Speaker 1: a little bit of a slow start for LSU in
- 6:49Speaker 1: that Louisiana Tech game. Coming off of an emotional win,
- 6:54Speaker 1: playing an opponent that's pretty inferior, these things happen, right? Like,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you know, Bama started slow against Kentucky, right. And then
- 7:01Speaker 1: beat their brains into, so that's, that happens.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But like, did that surprise you a little bit? Was
- 7:06Speaker 1: there anything from that LSU Louisiana tech game that you
- 7:08Speaker 1: would say, man, wasn't really expecting this. I'll tell you,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting three Sam Levitt rushing touchdowns. Um, but I, uh,
- 7:15Speaker 1: was thankful that they did happen. Cause I accident, I
- 7:17Speaker 1: thought that was passing touchdowns when I took the more
- 7:19Speaker 1: on one and a half. Uh, but anyway, all that said,
- 7:23Speaker 1: thoughts from that game and does it kind of give
- 7:25Speaker 1: you any pause going into this or is it kind
- 7:26Speaker 1: of like ah you just played around for a half
- 7:28Speaker 1: and then you kind of pulled it together.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Uh i mean there's there's some of that and some
- 7:34Speaker 2: of that sort of playing around for a half and
- 7:35Speaker 2: pulling it together is it's it's we've come to see
- 7:39Speaker 2: this a lot from kiffin teams in games against inferior
- 7:43Speaker 2: opponents right like at old miss he was good to
- 7:45Speaker 2: kind of either have like a real nail biter against
- 7:48Speaker 2: a washington state or to drop a game to like
- 7:51Speaker 2: a Kentucky every year that he shouldn't.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And that kept them from the playoff in 2024.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So I'm not stunned that they didn't come out and
- 7:59Speaker 2: look dominant at the same time. You know, when you
- 8:03Speaker 2: look at sort of what went on in that game,
- 8:05Speaker 2: the thing that would concern me if I'm an LSU fan.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Is I thought they struggled on the offensive line.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think that their ability to, to kind of, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 2: create yards for their running backs was, was not there
- 8:17Speaker 2: after they had, done a really good job with, with
- 8:20Speaker 2: some of that against Clemson and created a lot of
- 8:22Speaker 2: cutback lanes and, and the rushing game just looked very,
- 8:26Speaker 2: very precise and extremely efficient. So which is the real
- 8:30Speaker 2: LSU offensive line run push situation?
- 8:35Speaker 3: I guess we will find out on Saturday night, but.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I, yeah, like I, I just think that it's really
- 8:44Speaker 2: hard to get a good read on what this team
- 8:46Speaker 2: is because they You know, I mean, Dabo and his
- 8:49Speaker 2: crew went out against Georgia Southern, and I think they
- 8:53Speaker 2: scored one offensive touchdown in that game. And, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 2: it was what, like 20-7 or something like that was
- 8:59Speaker 2: the final score of that game, or at least it
- 9:01Speaker 2: was 20-7 late into the fourth quarter when I was
- 9:02Speaker 2: watching it. So, I mean, I don't think Georgia Southern
- 9:07Speaker 2: is like the best G5 in the country or anything
- 9:09Speaker 2: like that. I feel like if you read the LSU-Clemson game,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and try to take that at face value and project
- 9:17Speaker 2: it forward, you're going to make a mistake. And I
- 9:19Speaker 2: feel the same way about doing, you know, LSU law tech.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So there, there is a little bit of a kind
- 9:25Speaker 2: of an interesting situation here where it feels like we
- 9:29Speaker 2: got to kind of try and draw this all together
- 9:33Speaker 2: and ask ourselves, what is it really going to look like,
- 9:35Speaker 2: especially in a first sec road matchup, which historically is
- 9:39Speaker 2: a spot where Lane Kiffin has had trouble. It's a
- 9:42Speaker 2: spot where everyone in the sec has trouble. I mean,
- 9:45Speaker 2: I was thinking about this in relation to Kirby Smart
- 9:47Speaker 2: last night, who has been probably the most consistent college
- 9:49Speaker 2: football coach. But, like, you go back the last four years,
- 9:52Speaker 2: they've either won by a field goal or had to
- 9:55Speaker 2: come from behind in their first SEC road games. And
- 9:57Speaker 2: some of those have been against Kentucky or Missouri.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Auburn or yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Auburn in 2023 with Bowers bailing them out. So like there,
- 10:05Speaker 2: there is certainly a factor here of not just going
- 10:10Speaker 2: on the SEC or going on the road in the
- 10:12Speaker 2: SEC for the first time, but, but doing that in
- 10:15Speaker 2: what I expect to be a very raucous environment, that's
- 10:17Speaker 2: going to have its own emotional charge.
- 10:19Speaker 3: It should be a huge advantage to Ole Miss in
- 10:21Speaker 3: this game.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'll get right back to chatting with Graham.
- 10:24Speaker 1: But first I want to tell you about our friends
- 10:25Speaker 1: over at prize picks right now on the prize picks app,
- 10:28Speaker 1: all new users who play a $ 5 lineup and win
- 10:31Speaker 1: using code H you may get 150 in lineups instantly.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I am taking the more on Malachi Tony's passing yards.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I'm taking the more on Trinidad to go out there
- 10:41Speaker 1: and get me a passing touchdown. I just need one.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I know LSU's defense is good. Taking the more on that.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I'm taking the more on Malachi at 69 and a
- 10:49Speaker 1: half receiving yards. Make sure that you are on the
- 10:52Speaker 1: Price Picks app. Again, all new users use code HMA.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Play $ 5, get $ 150 in lineups. If you win, now
- 10:58Speaker 1: back to Graham. What about, we talk about him every week,
- 11:01Speaker 1: and I know you've highlighted him there on Dog Central,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but is there an advantage? I was impressed with LSU's
- 11:06Speaker 1: offensive line week one. Their defense is super talented too,
- 11:09Speaker 1: so maybe both sides. Is there an advantage inside for
- 11:12Speaker 1: either of these teams on either side of the ball
- 11:14Speaker 1: or both?
- 11:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Kind of goes back a little bit to what we
- 11:19Speaker 2: were just talking about there as it relates to, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 2: LSU and Ole Miss.
- 11:26Speaker 3: On the run game.
- 11:27Speaker 2: You know, it's hard to get a great read because
- 11:30Speaker 2: Lacey was out for the second half and more of
- 11:34Speaker 2: that Louisville game, but they have not been favorable in
- 11:37Speaker 2: terms of creating yards before contact for their running backs.
- 11:40Speaker 2: They're 41st nationally at 1.55 per attempt.
- 11:42Speaker 3: And then.
- 11:45Speaker 2: If you look at LSU, they're even further down the list.
- 11:47Speaker 2: They're 58th at 1.13.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Certainly, the offensive lines in this game should struggle, I think,
- 11:59Speaker 3: in my opinion. That would be what the metrics.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Would predict, at least, is that if you're going to
- 12:04Speaker 2: see something hit big in the run game or hit
- 12:07Speaker 2: with consistency in the run game, it might be more
- 12:10Speaker 2: counter-type stuff or or things that are designed to get
- 12:14Speaker 2: outside and to the edges. And you know, the pass
- 12:18Speaker 2: rush situation obviously will be a little bit of a
- 12:22Speaker 2: different ball game than what either of these teams has
- 12:25Speaker 2: faced so far. Right. I just, I mean, I don't
- 12:27Speaker 2: think Clemson has great pass rushers. I don't think we
- 12:30Speaker 2: saw Louisville show a lot of great stuff pass rush wise,
- 12:34Speaker 2: but in terms of pressure rates and all of that,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I don't know that, that I would, call anything that
- 12:41Speaker 2: we've seen from either opponent in terms of the size
- 12:44Speaker 2: of the sample, just quite good enough yet to, to
- 12:49Speaker 2: make worthwhile of putting into a game projection.
- 12:52Speaker 1: We kind of know what Trinidad is and, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 1: certainly he has all the ability in the world and,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you know, some may rate him the top or top two,
- 13:01Speaker 1: top three quarterback in the league. Some may go higher
- 13:04Speaker 1: than that, you know, and start to look at the
- 13:06Speaker 1: nation and, How impressed have you been with Sam Levitt?
- 13:10Speaker 1: Because we all had the questions going in, but is
- 13:12Speaker 1: he about where you expected? Is he a little bit better,
- 13:13Speaker 1: a little bit worse? Where have you been on Sam
- 13:15Speaker 1: Levitt so far through two games?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I was not impressed with what I
- 13:22Speaker 2: saw from him going back and watching the all 22
- 13:26Speaker 2: of that Louisiana Tech game the other night. I thought
- 13:28Speaker 2: he missed some throws and left some pockets that he
- 13:33Speaker 2: shouldn't have and just kind of looked and like a
- 13:36Speaker 2: guy who wasn't seen in the field super well. So,
- 13:40Speaker 2: I mean, I've struggled for years with the basic question of, like,
- 13:46Speaker 2: is Sam Levitt good?
- 13:48Speaker 3: And I really have. And I don't know the answer.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Like, I don't– I feel like I'll be much closer
- 13:55Speaker 2: to knowing the answer to that question on Saturday night. But,
- 13:59Speaker 2: you know, when you look at his season last year
- 14:01Speaker 2: in the Big 12, it was not good. When you
- 14:02Speaker 2: look at his– season in 2024, a lot of it
- 14:09Speaker 2: came through one player and then it came through him
- 14:11Speaker 2: doing things with his legs that quite frankly, I don't
- 14:14Speaker 2: know that he can do in terms of breaking contain
- 14:17Speaker 2: and getting outside the tackles and creating first downs at
- 14:23Speaker 2: the same rate.
- 14:24Speaker 3: In the SEC as he did in the Big 12.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I just personally do not think that the pass rushers
- 14:33Speaker 2: and the front seven talent in the SEC are is
- 14:36Speaker 2: slow enough to let Sam Leavitt do that with consistency.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I'm not saying it won't happen at all, but, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 2: to this point in the season, I just think that
- 14:48Speaker 2: you would like to see him complete more deep balls.
- 14:50Speaker 2: He's 3-10 on 20-plus yards attempts this year with an
- 14:53Speaker 2: interception and a touchdown, right?
- 14:56Speaker 3: Like, that's not a terrible.
- 14:58Speaker 2: 30% is not bad, but when you move back even
- 15:01Speaker 2: to his 10- to 20-yard throws, he's a 55% passer.
- 15:05Speaker 2: And I don't know that any lane Kiffin offense is
- 15:09Speaker 2: built to survive and, and work at its highest level
- 15:14Speaker 2: without a guy who can hit some of those intermediate
- 15:17Speaker 2: and deep shots and, and, and make those explosive plays
- 15:20Speaker 2: to kind of build off of the run game.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Is there, I, you know, X factor gets thrown around
- 15:26Speaker 1: a lot. What, what do you really see the difference
- 15:28Speaker 1: in this game being.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Who can run the ball?
- 15:33Speaker 2: If someone can run the ball in this game, I
- 15:35Speaker 2: think that it's going to make a large difference, especially
- 15:40Speaker 2: if that someone is Ole Miss.
- 15:42Speaker 3: With the level that.
- 15:44Speaker 2: We saw Trinidad play at in the second half against Louisville.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Look, he's good, man.
- 15:50Speaker 2: His ability to throw deep crossers and to sit in
- 15:55Speaker 2: the pocket patiently and let things develop and really allow
- 16:00Speaker 2: the coverage to be influenced by the other route concepts
- 16:03Speaker 2: and hit guys 20 to 25 yards downfield with room
- 16:08Speaker 2: to run is better right now than anybody in college football.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And he makes some really, really high-level throws. If you
- 16:15Speaker 2: have to face that as a back seven while also
- 16:19Speaker 2: really being influenced by play action, I just– I've seen
- 16:24Speaker 2: that movie before, right? I saw it twice last year
- 16:26Speaker 2: in person covering Georgia. So, you know, I don't think
- 16:30Speaker 2: that LSU wants to get into a shootout with Trinidad Chambliss.
- 16:36Speaker 2: That would be a problem for them, in my opinion,
- 16:38Speaker 2: particularly some of those Sam Levitt stats we just cited.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Unless they know something about Ole Miss' front and how
- 16:47Speaker 2: to attack that in the run game and, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 2: they've got something special kind of drawn up, I just
- 16:53Speaker 2: don't see that scenario being one where Levitt is going
- 16:58Speaker 2: to trade throws with Trinidad.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Is there, we talk all the time, like who has
- 17:03Speaker 1: the biggest advantage where, and this might just be the
- 17:06Speaker 1: inverse of that. But is there a place in either
- 17:11Speaker 1: of these matchups, whether it's wide receivers, corners, offensive line,
- 17:14Speaker 1: defensive line, you know, running back front seven, any of
- 17:17Speaker 1: those things. Is there a biggest like disadvantage if one
- 17:21Speaker 1: of these two, again, I know you just mentioned run
- 17:23Speaker 1: the ball, so maybe not like the opposite of that. Well,
- 17:25Speaker 1: don't allow them to run, but like a disadvantage where
- 17:28Speaker 1: somebody has a deficiency they need to make up in
- 17:31Speaker 1: this game.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I mean, if you look at some of the line
- 17:35Speaker 2: yard stuff, like as far as run game stuff, the
- 17:40Speaker 2: LSU defense hasn't been quite as good as you might expect.
- 17:45Speaker 2: But I mean, as, as far as a, a true
- 17:49Speaker 2: disadvantage in this game, like I think it's Sam Leavitt
- 17:52Speaker 2: versus Trinidad Chambliss. I mean, I know that that sounds
- 17:55Speaker 2: kind of hot take-ish, but like, I don't think this
- 17:57Speaker 2: Ole Miss secondary is very good. I am not sure
- 18:01Speaker 2: what this LSU secondary is, but I feel like I
- 18:03Speaker 2: know what Trinidad is. I know he's, he's capable of
- 18:06Speaker 2: making some, some really tight window throws. So I'm going
- 18:09Speaker 2: to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's
- 18:11Speaker 2: going to do that at home with, in this environment
- 18:14Speaker 2: against his former coach.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I've seen him rise to the occasion a lot.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I don't think that Levitt can take advantage of the
- 18:23Speaker 2: issues that exist in that Ole Miss secondary.
- 18:25Speaker 3: If he does, then I think they win this game.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I do think that if both quarterbacks are playing well
- 18:33Speaker 2: and things are clicking for both sides offensively, I would
- 18:37Speaker 2: give LSU the edge at still finding more stops defensively
- 18:42Speaker 2: in that scenario. I just don't think Leavitt is going
- 18:45Speaker 2: to kind of raise the bar enough to put them
- 18:48Speaker 2: into like the type of game that we saw a
- 18:52Speaker 2: gunner in Trinidad play in October of last year, where
- 18:56Speaker 2: they were just trading drives for three and a half hours, essentially.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Like I, I think that Leavitt will.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Make a fatal error somewhere along the way or miss
- 19:07Speaker 2: an open throw. And this is, will turn into a
- 19:11Speaker 2: situation where Ole Miss just kind of makes them more
- 19:15Speaker 2: out of their opportunities.
- 19:18Speaker 1: LSU, a two-and-a-half, three-point favorite based on where you find it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Are you riding with the upset?
- 19:24Speaker 3: I'm riding with the upset. Yeah, I am.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And it wouldn't surprise me at all if LSU won
- 19:29Speaker 2: this game. They may show us some stuff up front
- 19:34Speaker 2: in terms of just being built like an LSU team
- 19:38Speaker 2: is built. on the defensive line versus how an Ole
- 19:42Speaker 2: Miss team has historically been built on the defensive line.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I do worry about the matchup between Ole Miss' right tackle, Howes,
- 19:50Speaker 2: and Uman Mialan.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I would imagine Uman.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Mialan has a lot of experience, you know, going up
- 19:55Speaker 2: against him in practices and in different situations and just
- 19:58Speaker 2: knows this offensive line and their pass block schemes and
- 20:03Speaker 2: what they're going to like to do. That would scare
- 20:05Speaker 2: me a little bit from a protection standpoint if I'm
- 20:08Speaker 2: Ole Miss. Like, we have seen some good things obviously from,
- 20:13Speaker 2: from LSU and pass rush in week one. But I, I,
- 20:19Speaker 2: you know, that would be the spot where this could
- 20:22Speaker 2: go wrong. I think in my opinion, if it, if
- 20:25Speaker 2: it goes wrong, but again, like you've got Trinidad out
- 20:28Speaker 2: there who is very comfortable on the run. And if
- 20:33Speaker 2: you make one slight leverage mistake with your pass rush
- 20:37Speaker 2: lanes against Trinidad Chambliss, he's going to break contain on
- 20:40Speaker 2: you and he's going to pull some Houdini stuff. So
- 20:44Speaker 2: I'm putting my money on that kid until I see
- 20:47Speaker 2: a reason not to.
- 20:48Speaker 3: That's kind of the place I've gotten to with Trinidad.
- 20:53Speaker 1: It will be so much fun. I do wonder a
- 20:55Speaker 1: little bit about not a coaching advantage, but just the
- 20:58Speaker 1: coaching matchup because there's so much familiarity. Like I think we,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I mean, even Ole Miss fans might say like, Hey,
- 21:05Speaker 1: you know, yeah, Lane is probably a pound for pound,
- 21:09Speaker 1: Maybe they wouldn't say it because we're too, we're.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Too, we're too. Right now. But if you gave him
- 21:13Speaker 3: true serum, maybe. Yeah.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Like the general public would say, yeah, I think
- 21:17Speaker 1: Lane's a better coach than Golding. I don't think that's
- 21:20Speaker 1: what this comes down to. And again, I, I'm more
- 21:23Speaker 1: on the players, not the X's and O's anyway, but
- 21:27Speaker 1: Lane does impact games. And you and I have talked
- 21:28Speaker 1: about that several times. And, and why Sue, you know, like,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I don't want to take anything away from him. But
- 21:34Speaker 1: to me, it's not about who's the better coach. It's
- 21:36Speaker 1: about who is prepared because they're so familiar with each other.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And that is one of the most interesting aspects of
- 21:42Speaker 1: this game is not who's better. It's who's better for
- 21:46Speaker 1: three hours. Who can anticipate that move that's coming? Because
- 21:50Speaker 1: we understand tendencies. We understand tendency breakers. We understand setups.
- 21:54Speaker 1: And both these guys will be doing are all three,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you know, Weiss and and Levitt are not Levitt and Lane.
- 22:00Speaker 1: and Golding who can anticipate that the best on Saturday,
- 22:05Speaker 1: because it, you know, there could be new wrinkles for
- 22:08Speaker 1: sure with stuff that's done. These guys know each other
- 22:10Speaker 1: and that's what makes this so fun to me.
- 22:13Speaker 3: No, for sure.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And I mean, I, you know, sometimes we think that
- 22:16Speaker 2: that's going to lead to shootouts and it, it leads
- 22:19Speaker 2: to defensive struggles instead.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Right. And that, that wouldn't totally shock me in this game, but.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I, I do think, That would concern me way more
- 22:29Speaker 2: from an Ole Miss perspective than it would from an
- 22:30Speaker 2: LSU perspective, just because you're talking about the architect and
- 22:34Speaker 2: the guy who evaluated all these kids that are still
- 22:38Speaker 2: left on the roster from his time and probably has
- 22:41Speaker 2: a very good idea of their strengths and weaknesses, right?
- 22:44Speaker 2: I do think that is an advantage for LSU, but
- 22:47Speaker 2: I also would think that, man, if you're this Ole
- 22:51Speaker 2: Miss regime and there's all of the narratives that have
- 22:55Speaker 2: existed are out there and all the talk that has
- 22:57Speaker 2: existed around this game and the hype for months and months.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I would think that you spent some time in the
- 23:05Speaker 2: off season, just kind of finding ways to obfuscate what
- 23:09Speaker 2: you're going to do and changing certain things and, and
- 23:13Speaker 2: switching up signals. And maybe you laid a trap for,
- 23:16Speaker 2: for Lane and Weiss to fall into as well.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Right?
- 23:20Speaker 2: Like maybe you, you know, you want to make something
- 23:22Speaker 2: look like it's the same when it really isn't. So
- 23:24Speaker 2: I'm very fascinated to see that. We probably will never
- 23:26Speaker 2: know the actual extent of those little chess matches that
- 23:30Speaker 2: get played. But I certainly think that with the amount
- 23:35Speaker 2: of attention that's been on this game, I would imagine
- 23:37Speaker 2: that Ole.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Miss certainly has had a plan for it.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Like I, I would just think if you're Pete Golding, yes,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you won those playoff games, but like, if you win
- 23:45Speaker 2: this game, This is the ultimate proof of concept that
- 23:49Speaker 2: you can give to everyone in America that thinks Ole
- 23:52Speaker 2: Miss is going to take a step back now that Lane.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Kiffin is gone.
- 23:55Speaker 1: So I'm just going against you for the heck of it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I will take– I'll take LSU to cover. So you've
- 24:02Speaker 1: got Ole Miss. I'll take LSU just so we can
- 24:04Speaker 1: be opposite on this one. I'll take LSU. I'm trusting
- 24:09Speaker 1: in– I drank too much Kool-Aid from– the Clemson game
- 24:14Speaker 1: and I shouldn't have because of the Charleston Southern game
- 24:16Speaker 1: that happened right after it or Georgia Southern game.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Then happened right after it, but I'm rolling with LSU.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Graham's got Ole Miss. Well, that's, and that's the name
- 24:24Speaker 1: of the show. Graham is the analytical guy and I'm
- 24:27Speaker 1: just here for the vibes. So the vibes say LSU
- 24:29Speaker 1: and that's where I'm going today.
- 24:30Speaker 2: See, but this is like a vibes play for me.
- 24:33Speaker 3: It is.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It is vibes on both sides.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, like, I just think that when it
- 24:39Speaker 2: comes to football, uh, Sometimes hatred is a more powerful
- 24:42Speaker 2: emotion than
