- 0:53This week we're Here's the review episode j ABF zero nine. It is a
- 0:57Yocal Chords Iron Dando and I am guy me pleasantly surprised, Mate. I
- 1:00posted in the Patreon today, I'm like, going into this episode, I
- 1:03was like, it's about the sparkle of children. I was like, and
- 1:07everyone knows my disdain for I don't hate Cletus, I just hate the way
- 1:11he's being used lately, right, the overused and just I'm not a huge
- 1:15fan, kind of like side shoe melt. And I watched it and I
- 1:17got to the end and I went hot, Diggity Dan. That was the
- 1:19best episode of the season so far. I had a lot of fun with
- 1:22it. I enjoyed it very much. And I have a I suspect why
- 1:26that might be the case. Why is that not a whole lot of cleans
- 1:29the thing is and when they did use him. Besides, at the very
- 1:30start, it was like rich Cletus. It was like a different version of
- 1:34Cli. Yes, yeah, it's corrupted Cletus. You know, it's sort
- 1:36of blinded by the wealth. Yeah, which is a bit of a bit
- 1:40of a cliche, but also pretty funny. Yeah. Yeah. But the
- 1:42fact that it focused on the kids mostly and fleshed out the kids to some
- 1:48degree, game a little bit of character, gave the names, you know,
- 1:49it was great. It was that it didn't focus. As Lisa points
- 1:53out, the metagag of this show, you know, perpetuates the stance of
- 1:57all hillbillies. What is that yogls a hicks? There's a term, she
- 2:01says, the exact words, what is it here? This show just perpetuates
- 2:05that all yogals are hicks? Right, and then there's a pause. I
- 2:07could have done me that the pause, we got it, but you know
- 2:08whatever, I liked that and what it made me realize, wait a minute,
- 2:12what they're doing here is the kids aren't idiots. No, no,
- 2:15they've just been victims of their situation. They have been well neglected to some
- 2:19degree. And the second that they get sort of introduced to culture that they're
- 2:22fine, they're not normally can't give them opportunities. Yeah, and I thought
- 2:25the setup was very clever as well, like we know they're there, but
- 2:29we can't let them in because the grades are going then further, I just
- 2:31I enjoyed every aspect of this episode, even the second plot with Bart.
- 2:35I thought the opening act was very fun, dark Stanley and everything. Well,
- 2:38that was great. Let's not jump ahead to our favorite bits. Yeah,
- 2:42yeah, there was a lot to enjoy this episode, including a cavalcade
- 2:45of guest stars all used perfectly. They were indeed, and I mean Meg
- 2:49Ryan. I didn't realize was make Ryan, nor did I, but you
- 2:51knew it was somebody though. Yes, all the while I'm listening going this
- 2:54is a very familiar voice and a voice that I like a whole lot.
- 2:57Yeah, because your power guy. Here was card carrying Meg Ryan fanboy.
- 3:01I imagine you being like a when Harry met Sally. Is that what she's
- 3:06in? Yes? Yeah? And what was the other slips in Seattle?
- 3:08And You've Got You've Got Mail was the big one. When I was a
- 3:10kid, it was like everyone talked about because emails. What this new fandagle
- 3:14thing? You've got me? It's funny that that is, you know.
- 3:19At the time, it was like, oh, yeah, there's this crazy
- 3:22thing called the Internet and you can send letters vibe. You just have to
- 3:24get to www dot and poor little books was going to get crushed by big
- 3:30borders bookstores. I remember writing ages Girls, like they really should make a
- 3:35sequel to You've Got Mail, where Meg Ryan has set up like an online
- 3:38e bookstore that puts Tom Haiks's borders out of me business. Because it's such
- 3:43a movie of its time, but you watch it now and it's just so
- 3:46charming. It really is. I mean that's the magic of Nora Efron,
- 3:49who wrote and directed it. Yeah, but I mean she knows how to
- 3:51make just great romantic comedies. And even if the trappings do feel like this
- 3:54is the most nineteen ninety eight that you can get it's still like still it's
- 3:59still work. I mean, it's it's a remaking classic nineteen forties movie as
- 4:02well, Is it really which one? It's called The Shop around the Corner
- 4:04with Jimmy Stewart, not You've got Penn, You've got Mara, You've you've
- 4:13got more, You've got smoke signals. Yeah, but no hearing. I
- 4:20felt bad that I didn't recognize it was Meg Ryan. But that's the beauty
- 4:24of it that I was almost kind of like, is it Susan Sarandon?
- 4:26Is it Michelle fiv It was like one of those many women that guy had
- 4:29a crush on, But then seeing that it was Meg Ryan, who was
- 4:33I should say still is because you know she's still making movies. She actually
- 4:36she directed the film with David d'cavny that came out not long ago. I
- 4:40think it's called What Happens Next and sort of like a bit of a rom
- 4:43common as well. Why does that happen now? Where stars who were so
- 4:46huge in like the nineties, they're still making movies but you don't really hear
- 4:48about them anymore. I know, notice get sort of replaced or yeah,
- 4:53I mean the theory that they are basically eight different face types. But Holloiano
- 4:59still making moves. Everyone talks about Keiano. There are still people like Tom
- 5:01Hanks, Tom Hank Pieles talking about Tom Hanks. I do, yeah,
- 5:03I mean I think you've got to be fairly savvy and how you play the
- 5:06game. Yeah, sadly there's a bit of sexism as well. True.
- 5:10I mean, you know, I've bember Sandra Bullock, well, Santra Bullicks
- 5:13still doing very well. But what movies was she in recently? Like big,
- 5:15big, the last one I remember the biggest one was like the the
- 5:17Space one with Clooney. She did one called The Lost City with Channing Tatum
- 5:21not long ago, okay, and she's like Channing Tatum, not sounding Tatum.
- 5:27Is her love interest? Sounds like a video game movie. Yeah,
- 5:29it's very much like a romance in the Stone kind of rip off. Okay,
- 5:31It's not great, but it's fun and she's good in it, and
- 5:34it made a ship ton of money. I mean, so, I mean
- 5:38good for her. Yeah, she's doing very very well. Yes, I
- 5:40love Sandra Bullock, love it well. I love Meg Ryan and I loved
- 5:44her in this. I thought she did a very good job, but not
- 5:46just Meg Ryan. No, you've got the late great musical theater genius Stevenson.
- 5:53I wish, I wish it was the late Andy Dick. I just
- 5:56love it. One of my favorite bits. And I'll just jump ahere because
- 5:59I'll tell you the rest of my movies. But one of my friends like,
- 6:01yeah, everybody hates Andy Dick. I was surprised they had him on
- 6:04though, I know, given the history with philm Yeah. I was like,
- 6:08wow, he actually I thought, okay, the perking find Andy Dick.
- 6:11I was like, no, he voiced it. Yeah, really wow.
- 6:14I was surprised by that too. Man, if only John Lovets was
- 6:16on board as well, made me in the same episode, and I was
- 6:21surprised. You're looking at the closing credits to see all the all the guest
- 6:26voices that Patterson was in it. James James Patterson was in it, and
- 6:29Peter Bogdanovich. Yeah, another another late Hollywood great. Explained why it was
- 6:33so great. He's came here here. Yeah, well he's playing the psycholarist
- 6:38or psychia psychiatrist of Meg Ryan's character, who's also a doctor Samson. Yeah,
- 6:43yeah, and one of his because it was Swanson Swanson, not Samson
- 6:46Swanson Swanson. Yeah. Yeah. He was primarily known as a filmmaker,
- 6:48but he also branched out into acting, and one of his last roles was
- 6:53playing the therapist of Doctor Melphi Tony Sopranos therapist, the therapist on the sopran
- 7:00Yeah. Yeah, yeah, so he was riffing on that a bit.
- 7:01Yeah yeah, So I don't know. It's just seemed like a very thoughtful
- 7:04episode. And I think both both of you and I tend to like musical
- 7:08episodes. Yeah, and this had a bunch of good songs in it,
- 7:11and he wrote the Willly one. Michael Price wrote this episode, the Wily
- 7:14episode. That's right, you your new best Bard. So spoiler Michael Price
- 7:18has agreed to come on the podcast early next year. So forget that on
- 7:21the feed looks like it's getting replaced. I was just like, I watched
- 7:28this and I was like, I think, at this go home, because
- 7:30he's another Carolyn de Meine write all the best episodes of the recent season.
- 7:33So because he did Mummy Beers where they replaced Mo's Bar with the pub,
- 7:38that's right, that was a really good episode as well. And he's written
- 7:40a handful of great one I did. You did a really good job with
- 7:44this one. The director also did a good job, and we're talking about
- 7:46that a little later on. But yeah, otherwise, what else is happening
- 7:49in the world, I mean your world, I mean leading up to Christmas?
- 7:53Are all extremely busy and stressed. Well, you know, here's the
- 7:57thing. I was stressed out this morning because usually here on a when they
- 8:00were recording this on the thirteenth of December to twenty twenty three, normally Wednesdays
- 8:03are my child free day. And then a couple of days ago, Mom
- 8:07was like, would you mind having the kids from like eleven till two because
- 8:09ive got a Christmas lunch? And I was like, fucking Christmas lunches,
- 8:13all right, no worries, I watch the kids. I watch the kids
- 8:16anyway. So then now that she calls up, she's like, would you
- 8:20mind if it's just oldaggs, I've got a Christmas dinner? And I was
- 8:22like, you know what, No, don't you go double up? No?
- 8:26No, no, no, no no. Basically she was like,
- 8:28okay, I'll come back and get on. I'm like, yes you shall.
- 8:31So Mum rocked up at ten thirty, not eleven. So I wasn't
- 8:33quite ready and the house was still messy and the kids. I had tidy
- 8:35something like some of the house up. The kids got in and went,
- 8:39oh, I see you've cleaned this house up, Dad, Well, I
- 8:43asked Nikola. No, shit took like ten minutes. Boom. I was
- 8:48just you know, when the house is a mess and you just feel erratic
- 8:52because your house is a mess, Yes, yeah, it's yeah. The
- 8:54external situation is reflecting your internal one. Because I've been very relaxed, a
- 9:00lot more relaxed lately than I have been in recent years, because I tend
- 9:03to keep the house as clean as possible. And when I walk out Dan,
- 9:05it's just clean. I'm like, this is nice. You know,
- 9:07it's nice. And I cleaned up this morning and I walked out there and
- 9:11the kids just gone. Anyway, they're pouring dirt into the pool. Anyway.
- 9:15What happened was I opened up my emails on my lunch break and I
- 9:16saw It's Wicked Wednesday, and I was like, oh, yes, please.
- 9:20We always got on his podcast about how physical media is dying. But
- 9:24then when you see you know, two for forty and then an extra ten
- 9:26percent off on top of that, twenty thirty percent off on top of that,
- 9:30because there's twenty percent special on top of the two for forty and then
- 9:31you throw it Actually a week a Wednesday, so this is JB Hi Fi
- 9:35here and Geelong and I was like, I know, I'm going to go
- 9:37into the store and I'm going to buy me some physical media today. I
- 9:39cannot wait. Once we finished recording this podcast, Dando was going to do
- 9:43this. Guy has already You've already been Oh yeah, guys, like I'm
- 9:48working today, I can't do the podcast early. Meanwhile, I don't think
- 9:52that I was Yeah anyway, yeah, because you know it's Wednesday, which
- 9:56is Dan. Every time he's about to start the store, he's robbery's hands
- 10:00together. He's so excited. I've got multiple reasons to be excited. I'll
- 10:03tell you why. First of all, you know Dan, I was saying,
- 10:05you know, Wednesday is his child free day, you know day,
- 10:09my childhood free life, every day. The lovely Luise and I went down
- 10:16to the coastal town of Lawn, Crystal Shire. Yeah, very nice part
- 10:22of the world. You know. We did a nice look walk along the
- 10:24beach, had steak for dinner, fell asleep at the stand of the ocean.
- 10:28It was so lovely last night. It was really nice. It was
- 10:31very nice. But we had to come back in early. But while we
- 10:33were down there, we were discussing Christmassy things, including you know who's getting
- 10:37who for what? You know, we're in the Davis family, there's a
- 10:39lot of us were Catholic. We do a Chris Kringle kind of dealer.
- 10:43It's like, okay, we hate the Chris Kringles. Well because my mom's
- 10:46side, my mum wasn't, but my mum's brother was like Christian and like
- 10:50they've fallen like very very Christian. Man. They always just did because there's
- 10:52so many kids, we'll just do a Chris Kringle and I'm like, what
- 10:56from every word, get one good present? They were good. That was
- 11:01the problem. I'm sure they went, well, that's if you're a little
- 11:03if you're a little person, I mean not like a little person as in
- 11:07listen to our jingle all the Way podcast folk, if little people get ragged
- 11:11on by guy and everyone. Sorry, not really. They weren't ragged on,
- 11:16but believe me they won't. If you're a kid, yeah, they
- 11:20would all get presents. But once you were a grown up, once you
- 11:22hit eighteen, it's like, okay, you're grown up. You're in the
- 11:24Chris groom. Now you get one gift from one person, and you buy
- 11:26one gift for one person, and Lou's family is doing it this year as
- 11:31well, and I'm like, I don't want to chance this. I'm too
- 11:35old to give it in crap gifts. So I said to Lou, Okay,
- 11:37who's buying for me? And who am I buying for? Because so
- 11:41she know everyone? Yeah, yeah, well she was plowing the names out
- 11:43of the yes. I said, I want to make sure that I get
- 11:48what I want, so, you know, don't get me some relative or
- 11:50I can't say, all right, I want this. She's fixed it.
- 11:54Yeah, And then I said, just to make sure. Okay, so
- 12:00the price limit is this, Okay, I'm going to get Oppenheimer on four
- 12:03K because JB is having a sale and I can get you know, it'll
- 12:09be just the right price. And then lose saying, oh Lou's got a
- 12:13fit bit lose very Apple. I am, Samsung, I am, but
- 12:16I'm like, I'm reaching that age where I think I need to know my
- 12:20pulse rate at all times, my bi rhythms, all that kind of stuff.
- 12:24Yeah, it's a wonderful time to be alive that you have a watch
- 12:26that tells you how well you're sleeping or not in my case, and I'm
- 12:30like, maybe I should hurry up and join the twenty first centuries. I'm
- 12:33like, yeah, maybe I'll get one of those. Is it true that
- 12:35if you jacket, we're in one of those that thinks he's done steps when
- 12:37you haven't. Let's find out. Tune in in twenty twenty four as yeah,
- 12:45guy busts a few mites not to mention enough, but as if by
- 12:52magic, by a wonderful unified theory of forfing a discount coincidence, the email
- 12:58hits the inbox, having a big sale only Samsung watches was about eight hundred
- 13:03and fifty dollars down to four hundred and twenty. You add the ten percent
- 13:07of it's under four hundred dollars. I'm like, wow, loo, I'm
- 13:11gonna go and tomorrow I'm gonna pick that up. I'm gonna give it to
- 13:13you. You can wrap it up, give it back to me. I'll
- 13:16unwrap it. What a thoughtful gift. I'm doing this across the board.
- 13:22I did this yesterday. You're doing the biggest shit anting grid on your face.
- 13:24What a wonderful gift. My girlfriend is so thoughtful. But I did
- 13:28this yesterday as well. I went into Dan Murphy's. I found myself a
- 13:31nice bottle of single malt whiskey, and I got in touch with my my
- 13:35brother in law. She's my niece, my nephew in law. I guess
- 13:43yeah, my sister's daughter's husband is buying from me in the in the Davis
- 13:46Chris Kringle, I said, Ricky, I'm coming to see you tomorrow with
- 13:52a bottle of whiskey. It is not for you, it is for me.
- 13:54Wrap it up and give it to me. Oh, if you've ruined
- 13:58the surprise, Yes, but I have gained satisfaction in getting exactly what I
- 14:03want. Some people are very much like opening up their presence. Woll a
- 14:07new pair of sucks. This is wonderful, thank you, Whereas I'm like,
- 14:11I've got exactly what I want. That's only because he's sleeping with the
- 14:13boss. That now, that is part one of Guys' Adventures in Retail,
- 14:20Part two, and this is an ongoing saga that is about to reach its
- 14:24wonderful climax. Not unlike when you jacket. We're in the fitbit. Regular
- 14:31listeners to the show will be aware of guys' adventures in the Amazon where he
- 14:35purchased a pair of jeans that somewhere got lost. A triple threat, a
- 14:39triple threat, and I was going for the triple crown of you know,
- 14:41I got the refund, I got a little extra credit on top of that,
- 14:45and I don't know, maybe one day the jenes would come to me.
- 14:46I was not hopeful about the third, but then that damn book arrived.
- 14:50That book arrived. You know what I wanted. This is not the
- 14:54this is not the page. I did order this, but at the same
- 14:58time this is and then I paid for I felt like a sucker. I
- 15:03had all but given up hope that I was going to get these jeans.
- 15:05And then last time I'm looking on Amazon, let's just check the order situation,
- 15:09because it had just been packages left the carrier and that was it,
- 15:13like this could be anywhere, and then packages landed in New South Wales.
- 15:18Packages left the New South Wales thing and gone somewhere else. I go onto
- 15:22another side, gone somewhere else, and I'm like, where where? But
- 15:26then package arrived in Orlane, nor lane as in geelong as in not far
- 15:31from my house, go and get it now, and no or just before
- 15:35I left to come here and record this. I mean, I was almost
- 15:37going to say, Dana, it's great fun recording with you face to face,
- 15:41but I've got an email saying this package is going to arrive today.
- 15:46I'll go and record it and when I go home there'll be a little treat
- 15:50hopefully. So anyways, Jeff's like they delivered it bad, big daddy,
- 15:56jazzy jazzy Jeff b give. This is like worthy of like some slow social
- 16:00media TikTok video. You've give somehow pulled off the impossible. I have him
- 16:03there, You've got a refund, extra money, and the gift. I
- 16:07feel like Danny Ocean. So anyway, that's that's. I mean, people
- 16:12are listening to this car Okay, guy, you bought some stuff and you
- 16:15actually got it great. Well, I'm like, I'm feeling pretty good about
- 16:18that by it. They Jeff gave it to you. Jeff gave it.
- 16:22Jeff pays you for these jeans. That's I got. I got free jeans
- 16:26and thirty dollars in store credit. Yeah, listen, thirty dollars I thought
- 16:30it was five dollars extra. No, that was the gift card that I
- 16:33never got. Oh, I thought was only so you got thirty dollars.
- 16:34Yeah, the refund and thirty dollars as well. I got sixty dollars refund
- 16:38and then thirty dollars credit. Holy shit, I paid sixty dollars for a
- 16:42pair of jeans that is normal about one hundred and sixty. Then I got
- 16:45that sixty dollars back, and then they gave me another thirty bucks those jeans
- 16:49for the Chris Kringle. This guy fucking spent one hundred and sixty bucks and
- 16:56a Chris cre lizays, I'm sure there are someone who out there who have
- 17:02beat the system in a similar fashion. It's like me in my kfc apack.
- 17:04That's great, and then they fucked me over and they stopped doing it.
- 17:07I should just kept it a secret. I know the PEPSI Max think.
- 17:11I had to work that time as well, and they got in the
- 17:12machine. Oh that's right, put two dollars in to give you a refund.
- 17:15That's so good. When you just find little loop and you want to
- 17:18tell someone, But if I tell someone that it'll spread. And I was
- 17:19like I had that gone for like three months, and I was like,
- 17:22what a deal? And I'm like, I'm gonna tell someone, and I
- 17:25told someone and then it was just that was that was Have you seen there
- 17:27are new Pepsi Max flavors floating at random amount, like creamy soda one for
- 17:33like what is now? Really? Yeah, Crimya has been for ages and
- 17:36the cherry one yeah really yeah. Oh I didn't know that forever. Oh.
- 17:40I feel like an idiot. I just came up in my socials like
- 17:42the other day. It's like, I like creamy Suray Pepsi Max. You
- 17:47know who else likes that? Dann, I'm gonna tell them. It's gonna
- 17:48make him sad. And of course he's looking at me like you chump.
- 17:53But that's that's enough adventures in retail and purchasing and scams and funds and whatnot.
- 18:00Should we talk about the Simpsons? Yes, before we get to our
- 18:02favorite moments though. Yes, we'll give our shot out to following people.

- 19:11Well, now we're going to start doing the whole garage garage thing. Yeah,
- 19:14let's do that. That's not we'll We'll never talk about yocal cords.
- 19:18My favorite mister davis favorite moment's from this episode because I had several. As
- 19:22I mentioned, everybody hates Andy Dick. That was good fun. I just
- 19:26love the little sometime bit. He looks so happy to be there and be
- 19:30happy to well, first of all, give the kids a really, you
- 19:33know, excellent song with themes and motifs and all the team most known for
- 19:38look, he wrote a bunch of stuff for Broadway, not Cats, Not
- 19:41Cats. However, now he's not an Andrew Lloyd Webber kind of guy for
- 19:45some reason. As someone who grew up in the nineties, Andrew Lloyd Webber
- 19:48apparently he was like a huge success because he was the arch nemesis of mister
- 19:52Sheffield on The Nanny Oh. He was always compared to like Andrew Lober h
- 19:56Andrew Lloyd Webber's got the new He'd passed on something and Andrew Loyd web if
- 20:00it would take it, and then he'd become a success as a Levandro was
- 20:03the fan of the opera. Yeah did they delay miss I'm not too sure,
- 20:07but I'm pretty sure like cats used to always get ship on the Nanny.
- 20:11Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure, like probably. I
- 20:14mean, it's it was incredibly popular and it's still sort of going to this
- 20:17day. The film was terrible, right, film was absolutely That's what I'm
- 20:18thinking of. Yeah, And I mean I remember seeing a production of Cats
- 20:22here in Geelong about ten to fifteen years ago, and I don't think I've
- 20:26ever seen this. It's kind of garbage. You know. There's just a
- 20:30bunch of people in cat outfits sort of prancing around and saying I've got multiple
- 20:34names and you've never seen it? Okay, didna? I don't. It's
- 20:40kind of shit. The Star Wars Christmas Special. Never watch it? Never?
- 20:44Well, we could do a commentary of it. Oh, that's right,
- 20:45we did say that. I think we were talking about if we like
- 20:48get massive, I really draw an influx or something, Well, we'll post
- 20:53a thing about it. Because I rewatched the first twenty minutes of it the
- 20:56other day just to get a sort of a bit of a flashback, and
- 20:59I was like, oh, boy, guy, but you were right though.
- 21:03Harrison Ford is in a lot a lot of it, and he's like,
- 21:07it's a mini little story. Yeah, like him and Schewbaco are Giant
- 21:10fining the Millennium Falcon and shit they are bros. Yeah, but yeah,
- 21:15what else did you enjoy for this episode? Yeah? Yeah, just going
- 21:17on about some Time. Yeah, I mean, he's kind of I think
- 21:19he's kind of regarded as one of the guys who really legitimized Broadway musical theater.
- 21:26I don't know a whole lot about him, but he passed away a
- 21:27few years ago, and there's this great docco for Austraians. It's on Foxtel
- 21:33or on Binge called six By some Time, and it sort of gives you
- 21:34an indication to his life and his art and all that kind of stuff.
- 21:37And he just seemed like a really cool dude. Very he was. He
- 21:41was a big fan of Parker and Stone. Oh wow. He wrote to
- 21:44them when they did either Team America or Bigger Longer and un Captain and said,
- 21:48do you guys really know how to do this? And I think they
- 21:51returned the favor because they did. I think you may have mentioned this.
- 21:52Yeah, they did a bunch of sometimes stuff and like I think there was
- 21:56an episode where Randy was going to a bar and it was like a typical
- 22:00sort of sports bar full of bros. Except they're all sort of reciting sometimes
- 22:03lyrics saw each other like but being really dudish about it, and it was
- 22:07very very funny. But yeah, sometimes I think Rode Parker and Sown and
- 22:11said, yeah, you guys are legitimately good at this. So if you
- 22:14want to collaborate on something, let me know, which is kind of like
- 22:15being touched by God if you if you write musical theater or you write musical
- 22:19cabaret. So just the way they presented him in this, and I get
- 22:23the feeling this is how song I might actually be in real life. You
- 22:26just have to be like, you know, he gets the no peppy vamp,
- 22:30but he's like this peppy vamps actually pretty. I should write it,
- 22:32but I should ride that buzz colored with Lemon weird Lemon. That's it.
- 22:37I just so gold was I just had the porter that was so good it
- 22:40made me very happy. Lemon Lemon. That was great. There's so many
- 22:45great moments in this. I thought there really were. I'm going to let
- 22:48you tell talk about most of them, but I think the thing that I
- 22:51probably enjoyed the most would be the whole dark Stanley animated son. How it's
- 22:55awesome. Was that that was Monkey's music playing, well, Monkey's music playing,
- 22:59which is really creepy, unsettling music and fit this perfectly, fit magnificently.
- 23:03But the animation style was I should have looked up. I don't know
- 23:07if it's a direct reference to anything or if it's in the style of anyone
- 23:11in particular. So the musical number that plays during Bart's telling of Dark Stanley
- 23:15is Sweet Punta or Punta del Esta, a song composed by Argentine composer Astor
- 23:22Piazzola. The song is also fettioned the movie Twelve Monkeys. There's nothing about
- 23:26the visuals, but it looks I kind of get like coraling vibes from it
- 23:30a bit like that, Yeah, yeah, Or it looks too specific,
- 23:33doesn't It does? Very yeah, very individual style thinking for some reason.
- 23:38You know, the books where the wild Things are and in the kitchen bits
- 23:41of Maurice Sendak sketchy. Yeah, but I just sort of looked horrifying it
- 23:47did. And I just love the legend of us ghost story, you know,
- 23:49it's really good. We're talking about on the Fog review that we did
- 23:53starting off with the ghost stories, Like what better way to set up a
- 23:56horror movie than a fucking ghost story. Correct, and like Bart is telling,
- 23:59I'm just like and the legends sort of growing in the school yard.
- 24:02I'm like, this is exactly what happens. Fantastic. So they were my
- 24:04favorite, my main favorite bits from Yoca Gords. I'm sure there were gonna
- 24:08others that are gonna come up as we talk with it. I can't believe
- 24:11you didn't mention the kitchen contact lenses. It was I just thought there were
- 24:18so many gags that just felt like I was watching classic Simpsons, but that,
- 24:22for example, just felt like some Australias like season four. Also the
- 24:25lead after that, it's like I've heard about people like you. No,
- 24:30I mean a joker. That's all right, very good, very very good.
- 24:37I'll hear the animation of Bart story. Oh my god, how fucking
- 24:41good was she? Like this guy loves the act. I was like,
- 24:45oh shit, this is awesome. It's a great work around for that kind
- 24:48of Yeah, this guy loves the acts. You'll bring Marchie super leader.
- 24:59It was so funny, like, how can we put on racist accents and
- 25:03get away with it? How you do it? I just loot this what
- 25:07this episode did it's like a theme of going against stereotype. So like the
- 25:12usual Simpsons episode will play up the hill billy kleaders and that's the that's the
- 25:17gag. Rise a sort of spun it and put turn it on its head
- 25:19in this one. Here a game with the hello mister Simpson. Right,
- 25:22It's like normally the Simpsons would just have that character doing that voice. Here
- 25:26they gave a reason for doing it and turn it back on Homer. Yeah,
- 25:30and then did you get his wallet? You're drinking too many scorpion bold
- 25:36trivia question gone and yeah, I just really enjoy The two meta gags that
- 25:42stood out to me were the what we discussed about the shell perpetuates all yokles
- 25:47the Hicks, and Bart saying you had a dream of his family being cartoons
- 25:49that were out build up the propaganda network of Fox. Next question, you
- 25:55there eating the beast? All right, mister Davis, it is trivia time.
- 25:57Hit me with your first question because you've stolen Oh sorry about that,
- 26:00but I've got a few here. As is often the case, I come
- 26:06out of the gate quick with the trivia questions, like usually from the first
- 26:10first act five minutes or something. Try to space them out. Yeah.
- 26:12Having said that, what actually is the James Patterson novel that Marge is reading
- 26:18on the beach? Is it a nursery rhyme theme? It is Kiss the
- 26:23Girl, Kiss the Girls, okay, made into a movie starring Morgan Freeman.
- 26:26What was the one that they think of? Does Marchmont with a name?
- 26:30She does? She comes up with a little bow peep. Yes,
- 26:32all the clue could be the ship. My first question for you is how
- 26:37often did snake used to rob a pooh o three or four times? Or
- 26:41week two or three? Two or three times? Which is another funny scene
- 26:44if now it's like once a month and he doesn't really it's just there.
- 26:47It doesn't initiate it. In the picture of Lisa's sandwich, what kind of
- 26:52bread is the sandwich made out of? It? In the pitch ah,
- 26:56what kind of bread is it? Wonder bread? It is sour though square,
- 27:00wonderbread? All right? Which child of cleatuses wore the potato sack?
- 27:07Birthday? Birthday? How many? How short of an mit degree? Was
- 27:15dark? Stanley? Not sure? What was it? Something? Is there
- 27:18five in there somewhere? Two credits short degree or something like that, but
- 27:22two credits? But I watched this and I was like, I don't think
- 27:26i'd let Elliot and Holly watch this. It's actually very spooky. Oh that
- 27:29bit. Yeah, absolutely, I was like, this is scary shit.
- 27:32Well, when I was putting together new names and the new names and the
- 27:37mail bag post for the patrons, I was looking I mean because I didn't
- 27:40really remember this episode, but I was looking imagined i've ever watched it.
- 27:42Apologies to Michael Price, because I basically used to see this as a Cletus
- 27:47episode and went, I'm not going to enjoy It's gonna be one of those
- 27:49new ones that they just kind of like when they told me book guy and
- 27:52they fleshed around like I don't need that. It's not really bad Cletus at
- 27:56all. No, no man loved it anyway. Continue, Yes, yes,
- 27:59I was putting together the selecting the images to go with the new names
- 28:03and the mail band. Yes, for the patrons, I saw these images
- 28:07that, yeah, from the dark Stanley store, and I'm like, what
- 28:08the hell is going on here? And then I was pleasantly surprised when I
- 28:14watched the episode. All Right, is it time for you to hit me
- 28:15with a question. I'm done, I'm going through all mine hit me with
- 28:18a couple more though, all right, I can give you two more you
- 28:23like, let's do it. What is only coffee mug that Homer gives Marge
- 28:27in the morning? Oh not World's best mum, world best husband? Smiley
- 28:33face, smiley face? Okay? Was it like the Forrest Gump smiley face?
- 28:37It was? Yeah? Okay, yeah. And my last question to
- 28:40you, what are Skinner and Charmers going to? Well orders? The value
- 28:45of the gift card that charmers five five dollars? Yes, I also really
- 28:49enjoyed the band between them two and this one as well. I'm gonna see
- 28:52us so much to enjoy in this there was I'm not going to skip ahead.
- 28:56Let's just run through the episode'll run through. Let's do it. Let's
- 28:59start a review of skip ahead. But let's just skip ahead and do the
- 29:02whole the whole thing. Yes. So. The original edit of Yuko Chords
- 29:03was March fourth, two thousand and seven. It was written by Michael Price
- 29:07and directed by Susie Dietter, who's a fantastic director of the Simpsons, and
- 29:10she's done a great job here, as we said. Guest appearances from Meg
- 29:12Ryan as doctor Swanson, Andy Dick, James Patterson, Stephen Sondheim, and
- 29:18Peter how do you say his name? Bogdanovich Bogdanovich Bogdanovich as the psychiatrist Cash
- 29:22gag was a good one as well. It was I was like, how
- 29:25could it be as a kid finding a vending machine for action figures? Well,
- 29:30yeah, awesome. Anyway, So the episode starts off with Marge and
- 29:34she's on the beach. You realize how many of those would get stuck if
- 29:37a Mars bar gets stuck. Imagine what like a turboman have to be specially
- 29:41designed? I think so yes. But by the way, tune into our
- 29:45jingle all the way movie guys by that's coming soon. Marge is reading a
- 29:48well plotted mystery on the beach, written by one James Patterson. That is
- 29:53a bit of a joy in life, just reading a good a good mystery
- 29:56on the beach. Well, I'm looking at they've got some books over there.
- 29:59So I've got one on the ashes, I've got sign Faudia and Joel
- 30:02Salwood book and I'm like, one day I'm going to do no work.
- 30:04I'm going to fucking lay here. I'm just going to read these books.
- 30:07Absolutely. It sounds like heaven to me. But yeah. So then he
- 30:11arrives and he says, you know, you up some more nursery rhyme themed
- 30:17titles for my thrillers. And she says, little boat, I thought a
- 30:18little bow peak. It must be a little bo peak. It's a little
- 30:21bit peak. We better peeking behind the door anyway, And then he's about
- 30:25to spooch her, but he face turns into his alarm clock. Yes,
- 30:27it was a nice vision, Yes it was, Yeah, Susie, good
- 30:30stuff. Yeah, well then well done. Yeah, and she's overslapt.
- 30:33The family can't start the day without me. But Homer's got his shit together
- 30:37kind of at least expect that. He's tried. I mean not well,
- 30:41but like he's like Marge's sleeping. I've got this. It's these days we'll
- 30:47take home a trying readers. He did not have it. Relax, baby,
- 30:53Well, you were dreaming of me and calling me James. I took
- 30:57care of everything. You woke up. Roy stumbled home at dawn, same
- 31:03dip. I don't worry. I picked everyone's lunches and sent them off into
- 31:08the world. What kind of lunch is this? I drying? IM a
- 31:12sandwich. I've got Grandplas medication. Pull over, You're not the driver.
- 31:21Shut up, be chuic, I gotta delivery, but then tries he decides,
- 31:26well, look, everyone else has got lunch. I'm gonna be hungry.
- 31:27What I'll do is I'll scare up a lunch, and he tells the
- 31:30story about the anniversary of Ducks or the Dark Stanley murders, and how awesome
- 31:34was the payoff as well for this story. It wasn't just something that but
- 31:37made up the psychiatrist at the end, I know Dark Stanley twist. I
- 31:42really enjoyed this episode. In case you had went away by the way,
- 31:45I would have gone straight for UTA's sandwich. Oh the sub one. Yeah,
- 31:49it looks delicious, didn't it look nice? Yeah? How often did
- 31:52you get a good lunch at school? My favorite was when we would have
- 31:57a lamb roast the night before leftovers and there'd be a bit of a bit
- 32:00of lamb leftover my gravy sandwich and would put it in bread and I'd have
- 32:05the cold lamb with tomato sauce. Tomato sauce. Good, It's really nice.
- 32:08Okay, Yeah, isn't it awesome when you've got something look forward to
- 32:15for lunch and it makes the morning so awesome when you're at work, like,
- 32:19oh, I got to cut way for lunchtime during research, but you
- 32:22do it anyway. Elliott's school has this new thing. I've never heard of
- 32:28it before, and it blew me away. They have lunch. They eat
- 32:30the lunch after their lunch break. That's mind boggling, right what I'm sitting
- 32:36there. That sounds like diy tax. And they're like any questions and I
- 32:37was like, can you explain why they eat after the break? And he
- 32:42goes because basically what would happen is at primary schools used to be that you
- 32:45would get ten minutes eating time and go out and play. Yes, the
- 32:47kids were so eager to go out and play, they wouldn't concentrate on eating.
- 32:51They'd be planning what they're gonna do at lunch time, and half their
- 32:52foo would get thrown in the bin. We find it if they just go
- 32:55out and play, get it all out of their system, come back in.
- 32:58They then focus and eat their whole lunch. I was like, checks
- 33:01out and they're probably full of food and under sedated. Yeah. Yeah,
- 33:05So basically it's like they go get their energy out and then they're hungry.
- 33:07They because they've been getting their energy out there. Therefore hungry, they eat
- 33:10all their lunch and then they're ready to learn. It sounds like they were
- 33:13pulling a guy scam whereby they check out for lunch and then they actually eat
- 33:16lunch. But I just thought it was odd. Yeah, I was like
- 33:22eating the educators know what's up. Yeah, but it makes sense. But
- 33:25still, if I was a score, like I want to eat my fucking
- 33:29lamb and smartest sauce sandwich, now make me go play. Sometimes Mum would
- 33:35drop off macas it was the best. Oh my god. But it's like
- 33:37eventually got to the point where if you had takeaway brought in, like fast
- 33:40food, you have to eat it somewhere else to not make the other kids
- 33:44feel bad. That makes sense. You can you can keep bringing me Donald's,
- 33:46but he's got to eat it in them. Hey, guys, remember
- 33:52to stick together. Today is the anniversary of the dark Stanley murders. Oh
- 33:59you know, all right, Imagine I'm holding a flashlight under my face.
- 34:04Years ago, Stanley Degrute was a cook here at the school. All the
- 34:08kids made fun of him because he never graduated from college. Stanley Dany no
- 34:15degree creditoria, And one day Stanley picked up a cleaver and put a new
- 34:28entree on the menu, a delectable little dish called kids Heads Soup Needs More
- 34:52Girl? What happened? A dark damn? They hanged him from murder and
- 35:01buried him in an onmarked grave. When they came back the next day,
- 35:05the whole cemetery was missing. Use your imagination. I could a flash light
- 35:08under my face. I do it now to the kids, right. They
- 35:15love it. It's like the highlight of their night. They turn the lights
- 35:16off to and I go. They love getting spooked. Like I said,
- 35:22I took the kids on the ghost train. They love. Ally's like,
- 35:24okay, I want to go on the ghost train. I'm like, you
- 35:27were scared. He's like, I want to go on it again. Though,
- 35:28I'm like, I like it. Good one, And I loved all
- 35:34the stuff that came out in the in the Dark Stanley story. You know
- 35:37how it's sort of perpetuated. I don't know if it was bart who mentioned
- 35:40Soup of Sorrow. I thought that was a great It was set at some
- 35:44point, yeah, yeah, but then Millhouse takes it and runs with you.
- 35:46It makes your skull into a toilet, well ship Jesus injury to insult,
- 35:53and then it's like Nelston says something that uses your skin. He makes
- 35:57your skin into footy pajer. Yes, and watching that in Australia, we're
- 36:01like, oh, like with Joel Sellwood on them or something or with it
- 36:04with it was like oh no, Butja was with feet but you know kids
- 36:09heads stooped, and I was like, Aliott and Holly cannot watch this.
- 36:12No, they would have genuine nightmares. I reckon if they watch that little
- 36:14bit, they like the spooky stuff. But yeah, you've got to set
- 36:16some boundaries. I felt like I was watching a treeouse of horror story.
- 36:21I felt like you're watching more than it beyond the tree that might be too
- 36:23spooky the treehouse and then like what happened to him? He got hanged for
- 36:27murder and burn and I'm much grave the next day the whole cemetery. He
- 36:30tells a good spooky story. He does. Yeah, as you were saying
- 36:34that, the story spreads throughout the school, and I just love that when
- 36:36the legend just gets retold and just changes each time. Yeah, like Chinese
- 36:38not Chinese whispers, just whispers what's it called now? Such Chinese whispers.
- 36:44That's something else we'll find out careless whisper possibly, But but then fakes his
- 36:49own death in the cafeteria. Nothing better than like a good turn the light
- 36:52out and he eats everyone else's lunch because timing is everything, telling his story
- 36:58at the right time, pulling that stunt, and one ran out. They
- 37:00left their lunch behind millhouse, runs off, screaming, Murtha, was that
- 37:02meant to be like a play with your mother and murder? I guess so?
- 37:05Yeah. I wasn't quite sure about that one. But then this is
- 37:07like so cliche and obvious. But Chalmers and Skinner walking in with these antique
- 37:12colone bottles. I assume they're irreplaceable. You assume correct, You know what's
- 37:16happening, but like it just it felt like classic Skinner and Chalmers. Well,
- 37:21Timar, I certainly appreciate you letting me store my collection of antique cologne
- 37:25bottles in your office while they recarpet my condo. It's quite a collection,
- 37:30and I assume they irreplaceable. Now you assume correct? Seymour, Gary Hm
- 37:44Simpson, I know you're behind this. Well, you are going to get
- 37:46some counseling from our school psychologist. Don't stand he's gonna eat my breads or
- 37:52from a qualified professional. And then he sends Abillity to go round up the
- 37:55kids alive, not dead. He never lets Willy be willy, and then
- 38:00he sort of Old West style, gathers them all up, brings them back,
- 38:02and they realize that the Spuckler kids, he's grabbed them as well.
- 38:06But they don't go to the school. They get homeschooled. We get clear
- 38:09as being cleared. I teach the big ones, and the big ones teach
- 38:12the little ones. Anyway. I didn't mind that. So the whole things
- 38:15and exercise and futility, it's not bad. But they say the reason that
- 38:19they're not in the schools because they're bringing the scores down. And Lisa's there
- 38:22from the newspaper, purposely denying education to these children. We can for all
- 38:27that was funny. We can do this. We can from for all day.
- 38:32It was perfect. This is really good, Lisa Sampson with the school
- 38:37paper. Am I to understand your purposely denying education to these children too?
- 38:44I mean you see the thing is I warn you, young lady. We
- 38:47can from for all day. We see it's not that you're not grasping the
- 38:54you haven't heard the last of this? Well, I think we've heard the
- 38:59last. No, you haven't. That's skins and chimas. Then sing a
- 39:02song because for fun? How can we How can we stop this girl?
- 39:06Let's sing? It make us fun more enjoyable. Singing songs makes everything more
- 39:07enjoyable. And we gotta feed this episode. I want it going. Oh
- 39:10it's a musical one. Oh yay, Look it's been a great first actor.
- 39:15That's a musical and it's basically or how can we take down the up
- 39:19top Lisa? And how can we stop it from complaining? We're gonna have
- 39:22to give this some thought. Let's sing, well, we think it'll make
- 39:24it more fun for everyone. How do we gag a blab her mouth like
- 39:31Lisa? How do we crush her first met ride? How do we stop
- 39:38riding up? What she saw? But she shot her trap for a gift
- 39:44card from the gap she might? Oh? How do we stop the royal
- 39:51man? Like Lisa? How do we miss right just last? You have
- 40:02a lovely voice? Sir? Where do you have to make everything weird?
- 40:07Skinn calls Lady to his office and they suggest that she becomes a tutor for
- 40:09Clitics's children. I was like, can you suggest an eight year old to
- 40:13be a tutor? I'm not too sure about this. It's what I'm gone
- 40:15with it because the first act was fun Nah hill Billy tug reab time night
- 40:29toties. I can'ts the plowm you none birth to girl, critter, young'uns,
- 40:40that's here. Girl has come from fairy land to school. Y'all.
- 40:45Now, if you made me, I'll be on the parts. Drink in
- 40:46Thompson's water sale. My name's Lisa. What are your names? Waitney,
- 40:52Jitney, w Incest, Crystal mad International Harvester. First time? Are we
- 41:00gonna do this much work every day? Then Homer is taking Bart to the
- 41:06psychiatrist and the school is paying for five sessions. And he likes this because
- 41:09the Chinese restaurant is nearby where he can get drunk. And as I said,
- 41:13Sheila, this guy loves the act. Get ready to Shila. This
- 41:15guy likes the act. Mister Simpson, you're good man. We happy to
- 41:21see you. You not come long time? Come see drinking drinky? Where's
- 41:24Margie? She's super lady. But then the psychiatrist doctor Swanson. She suggests
- 41:31that they played video games. She's got DK C two DK. Well,
- 41:36is it death Kill City to death Kill Stories? Yes, and it's rayed
- 41:42bad for everybody. Did Bart refer to something as a half full of craps
- 41:46or along the line here? I thought that was quite good? Maybe,
- 41:49but I just remember you destroyed all human life on Earth level one complete?
- 41:52And Lisa, basically the doctor or the psychiatrist, is taking notes. What's
- 41:57going on here? Lisa is teaching and this is how a president as your
- 42:00videos overridden and they ask, how is this going to put dog food on
- 42:05my plate? A very valid question. Sometimes you're school like this math ship.
- 42:08Yeah, excuse why do I need to know this? And I watched
- 42:12numbers now and I'm like, I get that this guy uses numbers to solve
- 42:15shit. Oh you're talking about the procedural number. Yes, I'm watching numbers.
- 42:22When we record this, Daniel was right next to a calendar. I'm
- 42:24just picturing him sitting and looking at her. Wow eight my favorite. But
- 42:31yeah, and he's just like, you know, we use numbers for everything.
- 42:34I'm just like you might, but I don't how long ago did that
- 42:39come out? Because I mentioned Oppenheimer and earlier the guy from Numbers is in
- 42:44Oppenheimer? Now is he the guy? And I get the feeling when he
- 42:46got Numbers, he's kind of like, you're gonna be at the start of
- 42:49this cool procedure. You're going to be the cool maths detective. And he
- 42:52lost a whole heap of weight and you gotta got a cool haircut. And
- 42:54you look at me to be a fat did he in? He was in
- 43:00a really great, great show that I like called The Deuce, And I
- 43:02don't know if he because he wasn't fat and he's not fat Numbers. No,
- 43:06No, he got really lean and he's wearing cool clothes and all that
- 43:07kind of stuff. And you look at him in the Oppenheimer and the other
- 43:10show and it's like, oh, you're like a jolly fat man. David.
- 43:16He had good actor. Didn't really pass away, you got a cancer
- 43:20or something. He did put weight on. Yeah. See that's the thing
- 43:22I mean. I'm I feel kind of uious saying that story or pointing that
- 43:27out because he may well have been unwell and this could have been reaction to
- 43:30and he treating them that he had, yeah, illness, but he I
- 43:32know him from the sand Carse movies. That's right, Yeah, something else
- 43:37or whatever. Yeah, and he was in Ten Things I Hate About You?
- 43:38Was he really? Yeah? I think he's been a bunch of Judd
- 43:40Apatow stuff. Good actor, yeah, really solid dramatic actor, but a
- 43:45very very funny actor as well. Yeah. I'm we really enjoying the show.
- 43:47Your numbers ain't bad. It's the same shit every week. But whatever.
- 43:51You're like, you've got to have a show. Yeah, Okay,
- 43:53Nicol and I, you know, sometimes got phones in our hand to eat
- 43:57and dinner or whatever. It's like it's on. It's like you don't have
- 43:59to be every single bit to get out. That's correct. Yeah, I
- 44:01mean, well, as we said, there are it's it's the TV equivalent
- 44:07of sitting on the beach reading a James Patterson. Yes, exactly right.
- 44:12Yeah, I'm just sorry. I was just reading here. On the Michael
- 44:14price wiki page, he also wrote the Lego Star Wars special, well what
- 44:17a man Pricey? Not the Star Wars Christmas Special. Well, I don't
- 44:22think anyone wrote. I think that is like cameras on let's see what happens,
- 44:28make a noise? Pretty much what it is A ten minutes and so
- 44:32I made a mistake. It's Chee back, his son and his wife.
- 44:36Oh, it's like it's his actual family. It's called Stumpy or something like
- 44:39that. Yeah, it's a Stumpy. It's weird. I just want to
- 44:43have Arthur Fitz into it. Yeah, I'm really curious about it. Yeah,
- 44:45she's the bartender at the cantina. Oh wow, they don't like your
- 44:51kind in here. No, we don't let that kind. I feel like
- 44:53maybe I should just rewatch Star Wars the original. Yeah, the original.
- 44:58We'll talk about that. Yes, Maybempire strikes uncle. No, we're talking
- 45:00about yesterday. It's like, have you ever watched the new ones? And
- 45:02he's like, I'm like, I don't think i've ever. I walked out
- 45:06before the new one, like the last one, Ros'skull even finished at the
- 45:07cinema, was like, I'm just done. I don't care, and I've
- 45:10never got back. I don't even know how it ends. I know that
- 45:15he is her grandfather or something if I'm just like, what are we going?
- 45:19What? Ah? No? But the first two though, it's like
- 45:22I can put those on the first three. If three not so much,
- 45:25but the first two you can put them on any time and you'll enjoy it
- 45:29absolutely. The fac like, I've got to be in the right mood to
- 45:31give the prequels a go, and I usually get like fifteen twenty minutes and
- 45:34I'm like, h I tried, but the first three you're just like absolutely
- 45:38amazing. Can't beat them. Let's maybe we'lluggested for the movie Guys. Good
- 45:44idea. Yes, but by the way, the theme for January's movie Guys
- 45:46is Water's and Guys just the film that he really hopes gets selected. I
- 45:52did because well, when we recorded the other night, when it was Dano
- 45:54and Mitch and I all in the same room, Mitch broad beers that was
- 45:58very nice, and Dano hits us with yeah, by the way, the
- 46:01next thing is water and I hadn't paid attention and I got think of anything,
- 46:07and Mitch had two good ones. You had some pretty good ones.
- 46:09Let di Mitch have again. Witch had point break in the Abyss. That's
- 46:13right. Yeah. I went with Jaws, and you usually suggested Jaws.
- 46:17Yeah, but then I know how much I loved Jewels. I was like
- 46:20and down periscope, yes, And I went with the Shallows, and I
- 46:23was like, and to be determined, and last night I actually started texting
- 46:29you like one in the morning. I wasn't again. Then I was like,
- 46:31I'll do this tomorrow and then but my second sggestion is the nineteen ninety
- 46:36eight sea monster mash Deep Rising, one of guys all time, Tack,
- 46:40I've never seen it O synopsis and I was like, hell, have I
- 46:45never heard of this movie? It's on Disney Plus, so yeah, Bomley's
- 46:47check it out. Wit are back, We're back. The County Fair is
- 46:51always sucky to visit. On a hot summer fight. You can eat delicious
- 46:57cotton hate and ride the Fairest and the Merry Go Booger. Oh you can't
- 47:04make that stuff up. What does this tell you? Bart? That this
- 47:07is one terrible County Fair? And and my dad never takes me on the
- 47:13Merry Go Booger. He's always passed out in the parking snot he's flying.
- 47:19Well, you drink too money, scorpion ball you got stippy slipping? Now?
- 47:24Did you? Uh? Do you get his wife? Every president has
- 47:28a word balloon that says I Am gay. That's always like, it's a
- 47:30quite a Michael, you got to put a gay gig in there. I
- 47:32think this is like the least this is the least offensive gig one they've had
- 47:36so far. It's more a rip on Homer than is anything else. There's
- 47:38a lot of bad Homer in this episode as well. He starts starts off,
- 47:42well, yeah, that's you know, all the stuff with the with
- 47:45the Chinese restaurant, and later when he's on the couch doing all that shit,
- 47:47it's like, yeah, not really needed? Is it unnecessary? No?
- 47:52But although it does give us the Chinese couple, which was worth it.
- 47:54I didn't join the Chinese couple, that's correct. The Sparkler kids are
- 47:58now being taken to downtown Springfield by Lisa, and it's supposed to play on
- 48:00their favorite Things song, and Lisa says their minds are opening. They're experiencing
- 48:06culture and multiculture and they think that none of the culture seems lame now that
- 48:09they used to. And then Krusty's very impressed by what he sees and he
- 48:13is all the singing, what a number you kids got talent? And I
- 48:16should know I used to have it. Hi, you're one of those funny
- 48:21people with a big crazy nose, A clown, no, a joker.
- 48:25That's right, And I'm not a practicing joker, so I'm not that offended.
- 48:30Well, it's nice to see again, Christy. But these kids have
- 48:34field trip journals to write. Yeah, yeah, right, who's your agent?
- 48:37What's an agent? Got churing? Finally I get a chance to use
- 48:44these gag contact lenses for me. I just did not expect that. I
- 48:47was like, oh, thank you, Well, you explained it very well.
- 48:52But Bart says he had a dream that his family were all cartoon characters
- 48:55that help build out the propaganda network that his Fox News. And fortunately though,
- 49:00they've only paid for five sessions, so he's not that. You know,
- 49:02she has to cancel or just say no more sessions going forward. And
- 49:05its almost like he's been broken up with. He used to rub me two
- 49:08three times a week. No, I'm lucky if I get it once a
- 49:12month. He never initiates it. I have to do all the work.
- 49:15He just stands there. Now now, don't talk through him, talk to
- 49:19him. Oh pooh. Sometimes when I rob you, it's like you're not
- 49:23even there. That just because you're rubbing my brother Sanjay, dude, I
- 49:27didn't know. I just shut up. That's one of the most racist thing
- 49:30they've ever said on this show. But again, you know, poking out
- 49:35at the white folks. Oh yeah, I'm not saying it's bad. I'm
- 49:37just like everything was done in such a clever way around, Like it's not
- 49:40just being racist. It's like making Snake the idiot for not knowing, you
- 49:45know, it's all pointing it back. But then Krussy tells Cletus that you're
- 49:47gonna be getting scale if it tends to read the contract signs it at least
- 49:53interrupts Teeny get her out of here. Teeny takes her out, and then
- 49:57they're recording promos for all the affiliates, and I was like, so many
- 50:00kids have probably been put through. This reminded me of like the contestants of
- 50:05like American Idol. It's like, you know, for six months you're a
- 50:08star, read all these fucking promos for the affiliates and the sponsors, and
- 50:12shit, good out next kids. It's it's really tough. I mean,
- 50:15not that I do this anyway, but I mean I imagine it'll be really
- 50:19tough sort of watching Nickelodeon shows or Disney Channel shows now, just knowing that
- 50:22these kids have just been put through. Yeah, the ringer in so many
- 50:27ways. Amanda Bynes oh god, Yeah, yeah. I mean Drake was
- 50:30in Drake something, Drake Bell. I think that was that show. He
- 50:35was Drake and Josh, Drake and Josh. But yeah, another show,
- 50:37I'm pretty sure. Yeah yeah. But a lot of them now just off
- 50:42the rails. Yeah yeah, I mean Hillary Duftum well for herself though,
- 50:45there's one I think the Jeanette McCurdy she was on like I think she co
- 50:50started with like I've forgotten who, but she was. She was like a
- 50:53child star or something. She's written this memoir apparently really well regarded with the
- 50:58great title I'm Glad my Mum is de Wow, because basically her mum just
- 51:01pushed her into her child started and just kept going, going, going,
- 51:05and put her into all these you know, really harsh situations, sometimes kind
- 51:08of dangerous situations, and yeah, basically just to either feed her own ego
- 51:14or line her own pockets. So the best revenge of just writing a memoir
- 51:19saying I'm glad my mum is dead. I mean it's just not quite as
- 51:22simple as that. I mean, she's conflicted feelings about it. I mean
- 51:25that's the title, it's the title. Yeah, yeah, but she's got
- 51:28kind of conflicted feelings about it, but she's also, yeah, she kind
- 51:30of did a lot of bad hit. Yeah. As Krusty yells at them
- 51:34for getting it wrong, I don't think they really got it wrong. No,
- 51:37But Lisa sees this and she's that's the point though. It's like these
- 51:39kids have done nothing wrong and there's getting abused for it. They're by their
- 51:42agent and Lisa's sad watching it through the window. Crust then introduces them as
- 51:46the smashing Bumpkins, the singing Spuckler kids, and I love that. Whilst
- 51:51they're singing, he's just off at the back's reading in news paper. He's
- 51:52just profiting off them, and it ends if you're better than us. So
- 51:55they're playing up the whole where Hillbilly's and that's the kind of shtick the planet
- 51:59was there times. Hammer laughs at them, So I know what that's what
- 52:01he's going for. His home is the idiot, you know what I mean.
- 52:05But it's like it just came across like it was just a real jerk,
- 52:07didn't it. Absolute little bit too dumb. Look at those dumb Hillbillies.
- 52:12Oh bet they don't even know what something is Dad. Those kids aren't
- 52:17dumb. This show just perpetuates the stereotype that all yokels are hecks. Look
- 52:23at those morons they sing because they're stupid. But then missus his therapy,
- 52:29you know, he's he walks by his millhouse in there and he reads the
- 52:32article I think in the paper. Was it in the magazine there's some psychiatry
- 52:36today magazine? Yeah, Then he sees the Chinese man having an affair.
- 52:39I was like wow. But then Krusty introduces to the kids who mister Davis
- 52:45Stephens sometimes. Yeah, he's gonna He's written a little jingle for him,
- 52:50I believe is correct? Is it in a jingle? Or he gets back
- 52:52into writing jingles after he plays the He's written them like a nice pey song
- 52:58for their thing. And yeah, tell you what, just give me a
- 53:00peppy vamp okay, and I can counterpoint it with no counterpoint vamp peppy.
- 53:09Hey, this peppy stuff isn't bad. Maybe I will write that jingle for
- 53:14buzz Coler President Tola. Everyone loves new buzz Coller with lemon with lemon.
- 53:24From presidents to Ayatola, everybody loves buzz Colon with lemon. Very good stuff.
- 53:37I hope he wrote that. I hope I think he did, yeah,
- 53:40because it's in the credits, like I think it might be called like
- 53:44the Ballad of Buzz Colar Oh, and he wrote it. I think,
- 53:45so that's so good because I was I was letting the credits run after I
- 53:50saw the case, and it's like, oh, written by not all the
- 53:52songs are written by sometimes, but I think that one. Okay, with
- 53:55Lemon, I'm gonna have to go home just where he watched that. But
- 53:59I was looking for it on YouTube because I just I wanted to get the
- 54:01with Lemon right, because it's a really distinctive little melody anyway, But yeah,
- 54:07it's so much fun this is But Lisa arrives and they've missed their reading
- 54:10class. Clear just doesn't care that though he's the manager and he's making a
- 54:14lot of money for himself, he's spending all the money on himself, including
- 54:15a solid gold hound dog. Is he going to dress like kid Rock at
- 54:19this stage? It's just as to me like the pimp from Homer versus New
- 54:22York City. Ah, but is now having fake therapy sessions with himself,
- 54:27which is kind of concerning a little bit. But you know, he misses
- 54:30doctor Swanson. March sees this, and she I liked her that she's used
- 54:34the money that she saved up papers on Bartney's this. But there's another great
- 54:37line coming up in just the moment. So she goes to see doctor Swans
- 54:38and she saved this money form's breast reduction surgery. But she gives it all
- 54:42to the doctor. It's all they can have fought for. Now, when
- 54:45you're older, you can pay some lady to make you happy for an hour.
- 54:47Oh, I probably will. And I wasn't planned. So when I
- 54:52came, my parents had to get married and they were too young and not
- 54:55ready for a kid to screw up their lives. Maybe I act out because
- 55:00if my parents are mad at me, they can't fight with each other.
- 55:06His parents weren't ready to have kids yet. I was like, that is
- 55:08very real. That's very perceptive. Yeah, but it's like it's not funny.
- 55:14But it's like I don't dislike it either. No, I mean,
- 55:15I would not necessarily that that's canon, but you know, like, oh
- 55:21it makes a lot of sense. Yeah, yeah, so I folded in
- 55:22by all means, But I mean, and I didn't think it was unfunny
- 55:27that you know, but oh and yeah, I'd use the name Stanley because
- 55:31that's the kind of hammer that Dad used to hit me with. I'm like,
- 55:34okay, that's I didn't need that didn't need no, no, no.
- 55:36I mean we've talked about how, you know, the choking is just
- 55:42it's so sort of outlandish. So many people were angry when they read articles
- 55:45about how they've stopped the choking gag now right, and the two things they
- 55:49haven't actually okay, they just didn't do it anymore because it doesn't matter.
- 55:52And as we've discussed on this podcast, where a season eighteen and it's well
- 55:57passes used by date and these people complaining don't want you show anymore anyway.
- 56:00It's like the glory days were because I'm a choked, bad fuck off.
- 56:02Political correctness gone wrong? Chop. Why does he have to check bond?
- 56:07It's but silly, it was necessary. It was never like the best gag.
- 56:12I never laughed at it. But then he leaves. He's fine,
- 56:17now, he settled, he realizes what's going on, so he leaves twenty
- 56:21minutes early. Now she said, what a great spin, very good bart.
- 56:25We have twenty minutes left. Is there anything else you want to talk
- 56:29about? You know, what I think. I'm good? Oh well,
- 56:35good good good will Will I see you again? Anything could happen. One
- 56:39of these days I might have a complete psychotic breakdown. I'd like that.
- 56:45I just can't stop thinking about him. Do you think maybe Bart is replacing
- 56:50your son who was killed by dark Stanley? Oh? Oh oh, I
- 56:53am not ready to go there. What a twist. It was a good
- 57:02twist. It was like it was like James Patterson Murder Mystery. Ah,
- 57:06it all came together. Well, then the Sparklers are signing eight by tens
- 57:12and the top five different dry cleaners that they're the best. Ain't that line?
- 57:15But crust because you can be living on this bus as part of the
- 57:19No Color Comedy Tour, including Butt crack Berry, merl Values Moral Values,
- 57:23Moral moral value, Yeah yeah, Reverend Racist and Andy Dick his Blue Colic
- 57:30because his dad owns a shovel. I can't laugh at anything Andy Dick says,
- 57:31because just by proxy, I just don't want to. Yes, even
- 57:36when he's poking fun of himself, I'm like, we're boycotting laughs. His
- 57:37history's biggest monster. Do they say that that is? It's the Jimmy car.
- 57:44Jimmy Carter right, which has just become more and more of a good
- 57:47gager is because he's just saintly. It's becoming increasingly more so. Missus Carter
- 57:54passed away recently, Rosalind Carter rest in peace, Rosalind Carton. But Cleidis
- 57:59now has a monster truck and Lisa arrives in a helicopter and I was like,
- 58:01what the fuck is O my brand is I don't even realize she was
- 58:05missing, But this kind of I'm willing to go with it. Yeah,
- 58:08I mean it made me. I think one of the reasons, Like as
- 58:12I said at the start, I think one of the reason we enjoyed this
- 58:14episode not so much clean this and Brandian and now we know why Brandan wasn't
- 58:16there, and yeah, but it does scan the tribul yeah of fighting in
- 58:21one of America's forever war was just to put a little bread on the table.
- 58:23I'm trying to stop nine to eleven, That's what says. But I
- 58:28just I just like the fact that he explained because you could have just left
- 58:30branding out, it really would have really mattered. I don't think that.
- 58:34But it's also a great out yes, yeah plot speaking at the end,
- 58:37it's like these only can't take only two of these kids and they were the
- 58:42ones that suck. Yeah, I guess you needed her to be away so
- 58:44that could work. I guess yeah, it makes sense. Yeah, because
- 58:46I'm the father to ye A lip So. Then they all think Lisa and
- 58:52give her a big hug, and I was like, this is this is
- 58:54I can't believe this wholesome? What is happening? Like, where are they
- 58:59going to suck it up? Oh? They don't suck it up. They
- 59:00didn't. It was nearly a false or misstep in this episode. They still
- 59:07crusty ten thousand dollars. We can live on that. Then the honeymoon is
- 59:09theme plays and this pans up and we got clear us his face on the
- 59:12moon and how sweet it is, and that's the end. I was like,
- 59:15holy shit, what a good episode. Well done, Well done,
- 59:17Michael Price, and well done. I'm sorry, remind me of the director's
- 59:21name place Susie did? Yes? Well, iconic Simpsons director. Indeed?
- 59:24Yes, But as I said, Michael will be coming on the show early
- 59:28next year. It's looking for that. What do we learn bomb? All
- 59:31right, mister Davis, what did you learn from this episode? Maybe I'm
- 59:34just ignorant. Have been paying attention, but I had no idea. So
- 59:37I learned it this episode that Gary was super intended charms first name. I
- 59:40think it's the first time they mentioned it. Yeah, that's what I learned
- 59:43this episode. I learned that everything is better with lemon. Oh, he's
- 59:49found my funny moe. He knows how to just a But you can't just
- 59:52say you've got to do the little piano. Well, that's doing Jay's hands.
- 59:55What are you targeting about? Forward? Your names will be all right,
- 1:00:01new names, mister Davis. The current leader board stands at this four
- 1:00:05season eighteen. In first position, we have Philip J. Hawkins on sixteen
- 1:00:08points. We have Kyle muldoon and Luke McKay both on eleven points. In
- 1:00:13second position. All right, take it away, all right. One point
- 1:00:15goes to Shillbillies. That would be David mott putting him now on four points.
- 1:00:22Weld on, David Motski, well done. Two points for Cities Spucklers.
- 1:00:27Not bad. That's a man from the factory. Steve Roberts operate in
- 1:00:31that heavy machinery. He's now on six points. Well on Steve, six
- 1:00:35points. As many fingers as Steve has left after after being on zoom calls
- 1:00:38instead of paying attention to the heavy machinery, and three points goes to the
- 1:00:44sound of news. Hicck. I love this. You know why why?
- 1:00:49It's a newbie to the Lean Award. Oh for real, Yeah, it's
- 1:00:51Hamish Wilson. Well done, Hamish, Hamish. There we go. So
- 1:00:53we've got a newbie to the leader board, which means that Philip J Kyle
- 1:00:55maul Dune and let McKay they haven't stretched that lead away so people are just
- 1:00:59getting close. Oh it's like that he's gaming us with the golf clubs.
- 1:01:04I'm going to put up a meme closer to the end of this year,
- 1:01:06thinking of it today. It's been done before, but I'm going to put
- 1:01:07a new spin on it. Basically, I'm going to have twenty nine year
- 1:01:12olds and the end of this year and then twenty twenty four. Because once
- 1:01:15you hear thirty, you feel like I'm getting it old now. Now I
- 1:01:19forgot I was thirty five. I'm at that point in my life now where
- 1:01:22I forgot how old I was. Oh yea, I was fucking certain old
- 1:01:25thirty four and I was like thirty five. Holy shit, it's a year
- 1:01:30ago. What happened? It's really bracing when you've got to take a second.
- 1:01:35Oh, I'm fifty whatever. I actually I was certain old thirty four
- 1:01:38and then nigga, no, you're thirty five, I'm thirty five. I'm
- 1:01:42like, what, oh fuck I am? It was startling. Just say.
- 1:01:47At least Dana's very proud of his memes these days, un justifiably.
- 1:01:51So I got a message from him last I was telling you about this last
- 1:01:54week. I made this. I tell you, I'm going to make this
- 1:01:59me. I finally made it for you. I'm very proud of going to
- 1:02:01put it on the fridge is here, So it's time for the mail bag
- 1:02:07with the Davis for Yoko. Course, I love the pitchure you've got here,
- 1:02:09the Kid's head soup in the patron group. It's just terrifying to look
- 1:02:15at it is you hear that music. Then our newest stonecutter, Josh Hally,
- 1:02:21is the first question here. What do you consider to be the best
- 1:02:23Simpsons game? We don't play many games, do you The best Simpsons game?
- 1:02:27Of course is Simpsons Hit and Run. That aside, what am we
- 1:02:31gonna say? Simpsons Arcade has a piece of my heart because it's to play
- 1:02:35it all the time at time Zone and I'll never forget. I mentioned this
- 1:02:37on my chat with my man at Bart of Darkness, who just released a
- 1:02:43new book collecting the Simpsons Check it Out with Lydia from the Simpsons Theory Warren
- 1:02:47Evans. I mentioned on that podcast within the Simpson Full Thing of This extra
- 1:02:51that I had the chance to buy the actual Simpsons arcade machine that was at
- 1:02:53time Zone Kid, and it was only gonna be eight hundred dollars. And
- 1:02:58there's this guy on like this T shirt and Tanny like got it. He
- 1:03:00was like a Simpsons fan. He's like, just I don't want it anymore
- 1:03:01eight hundred bucks. And I was like I want it, And Nichola says,
- 1:03:05ah, we got in the room for it's eight hundred bucks, and
- 1:03:07I was like, yeah, she's right. And the next day she's like,
- 1:03:08look, I can tell you want to just go and get it.
- 1:03:10I went in the next day and he fucking sold it, even though I
- 1:03:14said to him, look, give me a couple of days to try and
- 1:03:15convince. The wife's like, Ye'll give you a couple of days. I
- 1:03:16went in there, I'm like I've convinced her and he's like, ah,
- 1:03:19so dude, I sold it like this morning, and I'm like, you
- 1:03:22said, you're gonna give me a couple of days to confront. This is
- 1:03:24mister t at the mall. I forget I never forgave him. I understand
- 1:03:29that his ship business when out of business, and I've not really but like
- 1:03:31I was just like, so sad, I've never forgotten it. I'm like
- 1:03:34kind of at the time Nicola again, it was eight hundred dollars. Nicola
- 1:03:37didn't let me buy you see that's giant Bart Simpson behind you. I do
- 1:03:42I either chance to buy the entire family, including the catch and everything.
- 1:03:45That was the cinema display for the Simpsons movie, right. Granted they were
- 1:03:47fucking enormous, right for somebody in Adelaide was selling them for eight hundred dollars
- 1:03:51for the entire collection. That wasn't that wasn't part of that one. I've
- 1:03:53bought that one separately, but that was they had the Bart one and Nicholas
- 1:03:58like, hey, gonna get there. It's a hundred bucks. They're huge.
- 1:04:00Yeah, you're right, and Dad's like I'll drive you, and she's
- 1:04:02like shut up and I'm like, right, cool, we'll get in Dad's
- 1:04:05you We'll go to fucking Adelaide road trip. You know, I'll pay for
- 1:04:08the fuel. We'll go get them, we'll come back and because like the
- 1:04:10two, I'm like, you're right, they're too big. They sold one
- 1:04:14recently for twenty five thousand US dollars. Twenty five thousand US dollars, that's
- 1:04:19like close to forty forty grand. Forty grand. I could have got it
- 1:04:23for eight hundred dollars like seven years ago. Oh, the divorce papers are
- 1:04:28still sitting in the drawer. But the best Simpsons game, yeah, the
- 1:04:32Arcade is probably the one that has a piece of my heart. One I've
- 1:04:34never played is Simpsons Skateboarding. I bought it recently to try it out,
- 1:04:39so I'm looking forward to trying that out. On one I never really played
- 1:04:42was road Rage. I felt like you were either a Simpsons road Rage fan
- 1:04:45or a Hit and Run fan. I think road Rage came first, I
- 1:04:46want to say, but Simpsons Hit and Run will always be the peak of
- 1:04:48Simpsons games. Okay, cool, Next question here? Was there ever a
- 1:04:54ghost story from David Mott? Was there ever a ghost story or spooky rumor?
- 1:04:57That you heard of school. We used to say the bloody me you
- 1:05:00one a lot, say your name three times in it was that candy Man,
- 1:05:01But Bloody Mairy was the same, wasn't it. Yeah, n Bloody
- 1:05:04Mary three times, candy Man five times, five times. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:05:09I remember doing it to my sister that much after she for some reason
- 1:05:12my uncle let us watch like the horror movies, like a horror movie marathon,
- 1:05:15when she was like ten and I was like thirteen or whatever, and
- 1:05:17I was like, candy Man, can stops doing it? Your monster crazy
- 1:05:26canny Man? Good movie? Yeah, are you any good though? No?
- 1:05:29No, okay. One that did a lot of circulating when we were
- 1:05:35kids was the one about the hook. You know how they it's no,
- 1:05:42I know it did last summer. Yeah, it's a bit like that.
- 1:05:44Okay. It's the couple they go parking the makeout somewhere and he's teasing the
- 1:05:49girl a bit and he's sort of talking about, oh, there's a a
- 1:05:53guy who you know, supposedly escaped from a metal asylum around here, and
- 1:05:57instead of you always an escape, Yeah, it's he's got a bloody hook
- 1:06:00for a head. Oh yes, and classic something like that. It gets
- 1:06:08like caught on the door of the car or something like that. I mean,
- 1:06:11and you know, grow op and bloody regional Victoria. I don't think
- 1:06:15anybody's going, oh, yeah, that happened around here, but yeah,
- 1:06:19we'd tell it regardless. There was a book that was going around when we
- 1:06:23were teenagers called The Banishing Hitchhike it which was full of all these urban legends
- 1:06:27where people saw hitchhiked. A people saw hitchhike, I don't think so.
- 1:06:30I used to see them quite a bit on the highway, but not anymore.
- 1:06:31Well, I was a teenager a very long time ago down yeah,
- 1:06:34the pretty uber day, yes, but you know it was full of all
- 1:06:40these urban legends. Yeah, yeah, everything from the hook story to well
- 1:06:44the title story about the Banishing Hitchhiker, where it's like, yeah, I
- 1:06:46gave this girl left for you know, then I looked over and she just
- 1:06:49wasn't there. It was like, what the hell have I be given a
- 1:06:53road to a ghost? What's happening? And so we're all sort of Jamie
- 1:06:56Curtis, It's but yeah, that was that were the main ones. The
- 1:07:01Hook was the main one. Okay, the bloody Hook. It's always like
- 1:07:05a name in the mirror or like a hook for a hand. Yes,
- 1:07:09classics, all right, Andrews Swan. This episode won the two thousand and
- 1:07:13Any Award for Music in an Animated Television Production. Apparently, well, he
- 1:07:16said, apparently a question. This is a question that formed the statement,
- 1:07:23what's been some of your favorite music in the Simpsons today? Maybe excluding the
- 1:07:26big songs to put the question in hard mode, So your favorite Simpsons music's
- 1:07:30so we'll take the score out as well. I did look. I like
- 1:07:32it when they I've said this before when they put a spin on the Simpsons
- 1:07:35theme over the closing credits. I think it makes the episodes feel special.
- 1:07:39They did with who shot Mister Burns and but versus Australia and things like that,
- 1:07:43the Treuce of Horror theme. So it's best songs I've as an adult
- 1:07:48have a new fan appreciation because as a kid I didn't like it. But
- 1:07:51the songs in Colonel Homer by Learling Lumpkin, Oh yeah, that last one,
- 1:07:56She's like the marginal just down. I'm like, oh, I could
- 1:08:00cry thinking about Its fucking great and it was written by Ben. Yeah,
- 1:08:03it's finally bagged me a Homer in that and that one is well, yeah,
- 1:08:05because that's great. Yeah, that's really good. She wrote all of
- 1:08:08them, definitely, Dangelo. Yeah, classy lady. And that episode was
- 1:08:12written by mac graney, the only episode to have a solo writing credit for
- 1:08:15mc graney, I believe. Yeah, but that's one that I appreciate a
- 1:08:18lot more when I'm older those ones. Sorry not to jump on your bandwagon,
- 1:08:25but yeah, that the season's turning around for me. Now I finally
- 1:08:29bag me a Homer. It's really neat. I mean, you know,
- 1:08:32it's it's tough to write a song. Well, I mean maybe it's not
- 1:08:34tough to write a song with this sort of like a central motif like baseball
- 1:08:38or something, but to you know, do a love song or a happy
- 1:08:42song about something like that and you have it all makes sense. Yeah.
- 1:08:45I love how the song sort of tell her love story throout the episode as
- 1:08:46well. Yeah, first song, she's depressed and sad and she's bad to
- 1:08:49her home and at the end she's like, oh got somebody you know you've
- 1:08:51got in a way. I hope she understands how lucky she is, and
- 1:08:54I'm like, oh, this is great. Yeah, So yeah, I
- 1:08:58think that's my that's one that really springs to mind. Glenn Gomez, what's
- 1:09:02your top video game franchise? Why is all about video games? Harkers Bart,
- 1:09:05Yeah, what's your top video game franchisees see, I a stopped playing
- 1:09:10video games when I was a teenager. Franchises for me as a kid,
- 1:09:12though, when we go back to the nineties was Crash Bandicoot, Spi of
- 1:09:15the Dragon. I was never a Mario kid. I never owned a Nintendo.
- 1:09:17I had a sixty four when I was a bit older. I sort
- 1:09:20of got it when it was old news by that point, but I was
- 1:09:23very Sonic when I was little kids. Sonic and Crash Bandicoot and Spira the
- 1:09:27other three tier top tier for me. I'm not sure if Mortal Combat counts
- 1:09:30a franchise, although it's got various iterations. Yeah, I mean, I'd
- 1:09:32never played all that many of them. I probably played like Mortal Combat one
- 1:09:38two. That's arka machine at the Fish and Chip shop. Absolutely at the
- 1:09:44Las Vegas pinball parlor across from the old forte fucking good is that play?
- 1:09:47That was great? Holy shit? It was really good because it felt slightly
- 1:09:51disreputable. They sold They sold great hot dogs. Actually they did. They
- 1:09:58had really good hot dogs. You get a hot dog with coke, get
- 1:10:00a bit of change, go play Mortal Kombat, kick the shit out of
- 1:10:03Goro, go back to work. Yeah, maybe that was fantastic. My
- 1:10:09nephew, Rory, my man, Rory James, he he's still a bit
- 1:10:15of a gamer, and he sent me a link recently to like up on
- 1:10:18YouTube. There was a bunch of cut scenes from the most recent Mortal Kombat.
- 1:10:24And yeah, I'm not really a gamer. I don't know a whole
- 1:10:26lot about cut scenes. Were like, oh, this is sort of filling
- 1:10:28in the story and all this kind of stuff, and it was really great
- 1:10:30visuals and I had some good fighting at watching a movie. It really was.
- 1:10:34I was like, make it into gaming if I can beat the shit
- 1:10:39out of people speaking of Rest in Peace E three Expo apparently. So it
- 1:10:44was always gonna happen when they started Pawn. It's gonna happen to Comic Con
- 1:10:46probably eventually as well. I think so all the big movie sitios are like
- 1:10:49I probably I'd rather announce the ship on our social media and get their likes
- 1:10:53and the engagement I reckon. So yeah, I mean, well that's also
- 1:10:58you know, the current decline of the superhero genre, because that really is
- 1:11:02not dead but no, but it's one for in the fucking cough. It's
- 1:11:06kind of on life support at the moment. I mean someone was someone put
- 1:11:10up on Twitter the other days like which of these twenty twenty four superhero movies
- 1:11:14are you look forward to the most? And it was like Deadpool three,
- 1:11:17Venom three, Craven the Hunter, and Madam Webb, the last three of
- 1:11:24the sort of Spider Man spin offs, and everyone's put like one Deadpool three
- 1:11:27and then gap gap, gap, gap gap about the others, even though
- 1:11:30I watched the trailer of a Craven the Hunter and it looks kind of rad.
- 1:11:32It looks, but who can well it? As I've said about those
- 1:11:38those movies, the Spider Man Universe spinoff ones', they've been pretty smart in
- 1:11:42that they have you know, Tom Holands of Spider Man and everyone could everyone
- 1:11:45can enjoy that, you know, everyone loves cheeky little Tom. And then
- 1:11:49they do the villain spinoffs, and if they're smart, like like I think
- 1:11:54they are being with Craven, they make it r rated, they make it
- 1:11:57bloody, they make advance. I think they were originally going to do that
- 1:12:00with Venom and yeah, but so you know, you get something for the
- 1:12:02geeks and something for the freaks. Yes, anyway, I don't know how
- 1:12:06we got to talking about that. Oh that's rights in three. By the
- 1:12:10way, rest in peace as well. I don't know how many Brooklyn nine
- 1:12:13to nine listeners listen to the Forefinger is, But we just lost one of
- 1:12:19the sincerely one of the great American actors, Andre Brower. Should we watch
- 1:12:26it Brooklyn? It's a bit of it. Yeah, it's quite funny.
- 1:12:29Yeah, it's very good, and he's very good in it because he is
- 1:12:30like a legitimately strong dramatic actor and then he does this incredible dead pan comic
- 1:12:35turn in Brooklyn. No No, and it's very very funny. He's gone
- 1:12:40at the age of sixty one. That is far too fucking young for an
- 1:12:42actor who was you as brief illness. Yeah. Fuck, I mean,
- 1:12:47it's it's like losing someone like Philip Simh Hoffman or Allen Rickman's like, you
- 1:12:50could have gone to your ninety man, Yeah, and you could have been
- 1:12:53just given us great stuff. So yeah, look, that's that's really sad.
- 1:12:57You sorry to bring a bumper a note into the lake, but yeah,
- 1:13:00after respect, rest in peace, Andre Brown. Final a question from
- 1:13:03your man Andrew JP. Of course he's your man. Two thoughts on the
- 1:13:06Spuckler family as side characters, that they're just an excuse for cheap hill willy
- 1:13:10jokes up until now, Yes, up until now absolutely, Yes. I
- 1:13:15hate to keep repeating stuff that I've already said, but yeah, the fact
- 1:13:16that we didn't have so much cleues than Brandean, who are very much butts
- 1:13:20of the joke. Yeah, focus on the kids who you know, bring
- 1:13:25the quote unquote redneck humor but with a degree of heart. Yes, yeah,
- 1:13:31just a great episode. This wastcal cause in the next episode of four
