- 0:46You are one hundred percent muted.
- 0:50Connection.
- 0:52There it is.
- 0:55All right.
- 0:56Perfect way to start.
- 0:58It is Wednesday feeling like a Monday,
- 1:01but we're still cooking it up.
- 1:03Cajun with Corey.
- 1:03This is this week.
- 1:06Oh.
- 1:07man the amateur trying to
- 1:09tell the pro what's going
- 1:10on I don't even know how
- 1:12that happened like we were
- 1:16literally just talking and
- 1:18then oh let's start oh wait
- 1:20scott's muted we already

- 1:27birch denise helson omar
- 1:31man what a week it's been
- 1:38That's putting it mildly.
- 1:40That is putting it mildly.
- 1:42So I did all those little
- 1:45vignettes at the games, right?
- 1:48And I put up the Amanda Hari
- 1:52one last night.
- 1:55Yeah.
- 1:56She is very, very popular.
- 1:58She's good stuff, dude.
- 2:00She's good stuff.
- 2:02Yeah, she is...
- 2:04Probably my best friend in
- 2:05the media space.
- 2:07We hang out the whole time.
- 2:10Yeah, she's awesome.
- 2:12We actually went to Trivia
- 2:13Night on... Was it Wednesday?
- 2:17Thursday night?
- 2:18Thursday night.
- 2:20We accidentally went to
- 2:21Trivia Night at a pub on Thursday night.
- 2:25We went to get dinner.
- 2:27Ended up being Trivia Night.
- 2:29We participated...
- 2:32We were four points out of
- 2:33the lead going into Final Jeopardy.
- 2:37Bet the house.
- 2:39Like you do.
- 2:41Because I don't wuss bet, man.
- 2:42I don't wuss bet.
- 2:43I bet like I know what I'm talking about.
- 2:46All chips on the table or no
- 2:48chips on the table.
- 2:50And the question was, how many U.S.
- 2:54states touch the Mississippi River?
- 3:01Man, that's an excellent question.
- 3:06I would say ten off the top of my head.
- 3:10Ten off the top of your head.
- 3:13Are you kidding me?
- 3:15I'm just trying to think.
- 3:18Geography is obviously not my thing,
- 3:19but I'm just trying to think of going up,
- 3:22like us in Mississippi, Arkansas,
- 3:24and whatever's next to Arkansas, two,
- 3:30four, six, eight, ten.
- 3:32It is ten.
- 3:34Is it really?
- 3:34It is ten.
- 3:37Yeah, we needed you at our table.
- 3:42Oh, man.
- 3:43We lost all of the money.
- 3:47The winner got like a
- 3:49hundred dollar gift card to that pub.
- 3:52That you're never going to
- 3:53be able to use anyway.
- 3:56Like a big deal.
- 4:00Crazy.
- 4:02I like that, Tristan.
- 4:03I'll roll with that.
- 4:07Yeah.
- 4:07I, so, you know,
- 4:08I drove to Montana and so I,
- 4:10I hit the Mississippi and Illinois,
- 4:13Wisconsin and Minnesota on the way.
- 4:17Forgot about Iowa.
- 4:19Forgot about Kentucky and Tennessee,
- 4:22but I had all the other states.
- 4:23So I actually had seven and
- 4:26just forgot those.
- 4:29It just makes, in my head,
- 4:31going up like that, it makes sense.
- 4:33And like I said,
- 4:33I'm not fantastic at geography.
- 4:37For Monster Games,
- 4:39one of my partners who
- 4:39lives not far from there,
- 4:43who's going to compete, I was like, hey,
- 4:45why don't you come and pick
- 4:46me up from the airport whenever I land?
- 4:50And about five seconds after that,
- 4:52I realized, I texted it back and I said,
- 4:54I just realized I might be
- 4:55actually going three and a
- 4:55half hours out of your way.
- 4:56Like I know nothing about
- 4:58what the geography looks like up there.
- 5:01So kind of take that with a grain of salt.
- 5:04Yeah.
- 5:04CrossFit says, is that a trivia or autism?
- 5:08A little bit of both.
- 5:10It's a, it's a feature, not a bug.
- 5:13Definitely both.
- 5:15Definitely both.
- 5:18Yeah,
- 5:20I love having you on because then I
- 5:21get to tell you a couple of stories.
- 5:23Yeah.
- 5:23So, you know, I get the enhanced access.
- 5:26I'm backstage.
- 5:28I decide, hey, here comes Amy Kringle.
- 5:31She just killed this last event.
- 5:33I'm going to talk to her.
- 5:36She's a very attractive woman.
- 5:39is good looking and I only
- 5:40say that to because it'll
- 5:42make sense the next part of
- 5:43this right so I start
- 5:47filming her to like get her
- 5:49on camera amy is a close
- 5:51talker oh she's gotta get
- 5:54like right here yeah so
- 5:56that is not like it's not a
- 5:59big deal in most general
- 6:01senses right but when
- 6:03you're trying to keep
- 6:04someone in frame on a camera yeah
- 6:07it becomes a big deal
- 6:09because I don't want to
- 6:10just have like her nose hairs.
- 6:12Yeah.
- 6:13She's doing this right on the camera.
- 6:17Right.
- 6:20So I keep backing up and I'm
- 6:22trying to be nice about it.
- 6:24I'm, I'm backing up as she's talking.
- 6:27She has backed me up into a
- 6:29box and I have now tripped
- 6:34and I'm about to go ask over tea kettle.
- 6:37And finally I say,
- 6:38and I think it's still on the video, like,
- 6:42hey, don't mean to be rude,
- 6:43but I'm trying to keep you in frame.
- 6:47Please.
- 6:50Every time I step, you step,
- 6:52and that's not helping us.
- 6:53It's not helping my cause right now.
- 7:00That was probably the
- 7:00funniest moment backstage is –
- 7:06yeah because you can't see
- 7:08what's behind you and so
- 7:09like you just she steps and
- 7:10you're like trying to move
- 7:13you and it's it's in the
- 7:15warm-up area so it's it's kind of crowded
- 7:18Yeah, there's people and stuff everywhere.
- 7:20Right.
- 7:21Yeah.
- 7:21There's equipment on the floor everywhere.
- 7:23There's stuff everywhere.
- 7:25And most people, like,
- 7:27I would catch them sitting
- 7:28on a rower because they
- 7:29just came off the floor.
- 7:31Yeah.
- 7:31I learned really quickly in
- 7:33the weekend that better to
- 7:35get after the event than
- 7:36before the event.
- 7:38Oh, dude.
- 7:40I would agree to that.
- 7:41If you try to talk to me at
- 7:42Monster Games on the last
- 7:44day before the event,
- 7:45I didn't talk to anybody
- 7:45for the first thirty
- 7:46minutes I was in the warm-up area.
- 7:48I had my earbuds in, my music playing,
- 7:50and I literally did not
- 7:51speak to a single soul for half an hour.
- 7:55And that's not, you know me, dude.
- 7:56Like, I talked to the wall.
- 7:57I thought I would talk back,
- 7:58but I was locked in,
- 8:00so I can't imagine the
- 8:01level of the games.
- 8:02Yeah.
- 8:02After, sure,
- 8:03we can talk about whatever you want to.
- 8:04I don't care.
- 8:05We'll talk for twenty minutes.
- 8:07Like talking to Braun or
- 8:10or a tutor,
- 8:11they were sitting on a row or
- 8:12just catching their breath
- 8:14and watching the next heat on the TV.
- 8:16And that's when I would like
- 8:17grab them really easy.
- 8:19They're not moving so easy
- 8:21to keep in frame.
- 8:23Braun seems like he's cool as shit.
- 8:25Like that, that, that interview just like,
- 8:27he seems like he's just as
- 8:28laid back as they come.
- 8:29Like happy to be there.
- 8:31Braun is that dude that you
- 8:33wish you could go to a pub with.
- 8:36and just hang out for the
- 8:37night with a couple beers I
- 8:38can see that um and and
- 8:43tutors this like like if
- 8:47you're looking at like
- 8:48straight up good looks the
- 8:52dude looks like superman
- 8:54yeah right like I I don't
- 8:59understand why he's not more popular
- 9:05I feel like,
- 9:06and maybe it's because I don't
- 9:07pay that much attention to
- 9:08him or maybe because it's
- 9:09just his stuff's not out there enough,
- 9:11but the people that are
- 9:14getting paid attention to
- 9:14right now are the boys
- 9:15interrupted and the Jameses
- 9:18and the people who are
- 9:19putting themselves out
- 9:20there to be seen more than
- 9:22anybody else is.
- 9:26I'm a straight dude.
- 9:27Been married for nearly thirty years.
- 9:30Tudor is a good looking dude.
- 9:33You're right about he looks like Superman.
- 9:35I've been trying to figure
- 9:36out what or who he looks
- 9:39like every time I see him
- 9:40because he's been nagging
- 9:41at me and it makes sense.
- 9:42It's the hair.
- 9:43It's the straight jet black
- 9:47kind of over a little bit side part.
- 9:49Just like Clark Kent, man.
- 9:50A hundred percent.
- 9:57This is correct.
- 9:58Jamie Latimer has been
- 9:59screaming about Tudor since day one.
- 10:01No one is listening.
- 10:05We just won most improved at the games.
- 10:08And well-deserved, I thought.
- 10:15Agreed.
- 10:15I know next to nothing about
- 10:16him or his personality.
- 10:18So what's bizarre is like, mentally,
- 10:22he's a lot like Farlow.
- 10:24Like those two are like...
- 10:26beyond smart right and maybe
- 10:29that's it like his mind
- 10:32works so much and
- 10:34overthinks everything that
- 10:36he like gets in his own way
- 10:38the few people I know that
- 10:40especially engineers like
- 10:42their brain works
- 10:43differently than other
- 10:44people and they're not
- 10:46usually real social
- 10:48butterflies as it as it
- 10:49comes they'll have a
- 10:50conversation one-on-one
- 10:52necessarily,
- 10:53but they want to know how things work.
- 10:54They want to know how things
- 10:56like what makes this happen?
- 10:58Why does that go on?
- 10:59And that is just not a
- 11:00conversation that ninety
- 11:01nine percent of not
- 11:02engineer people want to
- 11:03have with other people.
- 11:07Yeah.
- 11:08I'm an insurance agent, dude,
- 11:10and I can if I get on phone
- 11:12with somebody I've never spoken to before,
- 11:14I can usually tell within
- 11:15about three minutes if
- 11:16they're an engineer or not,
- 11:19just from the line of
- 11:20questions that they go to
- 11:21that they go to ask them.
- 11:23Yeah,
- 11:25the last story I wanted to tell you
- 11:28is I was in the back,
- 11:30ran into Jake Marconi,
- 11:33who is just a straight up good dude.
- 11:36And he, you know,
- 11:37it was announced he left
- 11:39HWPO to kind of move back into his home.
- 11:44And I think he's still working there,
- 11:46but more like on affiliate stuff,
- 11:50things like that.
- 11:51He's not there there.
- 11:52He was there to coach on her last games.
- 11:57And so it was going to be,
- 11:58it's his last games as a coach.
- 12:01Yeah.
- 12:03Dude, we had one of those, like,
- 12:06bro conversations that was so awesome.
- 12:12You know,
- 12:13part of the reason he wants to be
- 12:15done with competitive
- 12:16coaching is his dad is sick.
- 12:20And he just wants to spend
- 12:21more time with his dad.
- 12:23You know, I'm a guy who just lost my dad.
- 12:26And, like...
- 12:27The bond that we had in that
- 12:29quick moment was so cool
- 12:35and so communal and so much
- 12:38about why I love CrossFit.
- 12:43We have this shared experience.
- 12:49We understand each other and
- 12:51we can have a conversation
- 12:52in the middle of a warmup area.
- 12:54It was freaking awesome.
- 12:56That's an awesome thing.
- 12:57I love that kind of stuff.
- 12:58Love, love, love that kind of stuff.
- 13:03It was, um,
- 13:05it was like probably one of the
- 13:06coolest experiences of the
- 13:08weekend for me.
- 13:11And just, it's just two bros hanging out.
- 13:14God bless him.
- 13:15I will be, uh,
- 13:15hope he gets more time with
- 13:18him than he thinks he will.
- 13:20Yeah.
- 13:21Like,
- 13:21I don't think it's anything terminal
- 13:23or anything like that.
- 13:24It's just his dad slowing down.
- 13:27You know, we were talking about how like,
- 13:29he goes like, like,
- 13:30I don't talk to my dad a ton, but my dad,
- 13:32like, you know,
- 13:34he's there when my mom's talking and,
- 13:36and I said, yeah,
- 13:37and he does the interject thing, right?
- 13:38Like when you need to hear something,
- 13:41he does the interject thing.
- 13:42And he's like, that's it exactly.
- 13:44Yeah.
- 13:44I said, yep.
- 13:45That was my,
- 13:47That was my dad, right?
- 13:49Like, I'd call my mom,
- 13:50and then he would be like,
- 13:51make sure to tell him.
- 13:52Oh, yeah.
- 13:54No, my dad does the same thing.
- 13:55You know?
- 13:57My dad does the same thing.
- 13:59I'm going to phone my mom,
- 13:59and I can hear him in the background.
- 14:01What?
- 14:03Oh, no.
- 14:04And just,
- 14:05it's like three or four word
- 14:06sentences every other,
- 14:09like every five minutes or so,
- 14:10because he's paying attention.
- 14:15A lot of talk about the boys interrupted.
- 14:18CrossFit says,
- 14:19I wish Justin would loosen
- 14:20up on the boys.
- 14:22I don't think he can.
- 14:25I think if he loosens up,
- 14:26that show goes completely off the rails.
- 14:30Somebody's got to keep him in line.
- 14:31Right.
- 14:31He's the only one that's
- 14:33kind of keeping them on track.
- 14:39But when they started
- 14:41talking about the poop
- 14:42conversations and Hopper
- 14:45being out of toilet paper
- 14:46twice and did the old,
- 14:49can you spare a square?
- 14:56I laughed so hard.
- 14:59I was watching it in bed.
- 15:00I could not stop laughing.
- 15:06That's good stuff, dude.
- 15:07I'm happy for Hopper.
- 15:09I really, really am.
- 15:10And I really do think,
- 15:11I forgot who had said it,
- 15:12but they are not going to
- 15:14hear the end of it until
- 15:16the game next year.
- 15:20Tristan Patrick, fun fact,
- 15:21I was in the bathroom
- 15:22during one of those poop conversations.
- 15:27Walked right in as Justin was walking out.
- 15:29Did you see it yet, Corey?
- 15:31No, I haven't.
- 15:32I haven't had a chance to.
- 15:35Here's the funny part.
- 15:37Pepper and Hopper are having
- 15:39a conversation while
- 15:40sitting on the toilet.
- 15:42Like you do.
- 15:43And Hopper has run out of paper.
- 15:46So,
- 15:47Dallin has to get some under the thing
- 15:50to him, right?
- 15:52Yeah.
- 15:52Justin is taking a leak in
- 15:54the same bathroom.
- 15:56The other two are actually
- 15:58discussing paces for the next workout.
- 16:01Justin doesn't let them know
- 16:03that he's there listening.
- 16:06He actually goes out and
- 16:07does their pace on the floor and said,
- 16:11wow, this is really easy.
- 16:12This is really working well.
- 16:15It just turns out those guys,
- 16:17they own us something.
- 16:18I'm going to go ahead and roll with this.
- 16:20That's outstanding.
- 16:21That is outstanding.
- 16:22Yeah,
- 16:23that's dudes being dudes right there.
- 16:25Then they talked about how
- 16:26Hopper was crop dusting everybody.
- 16:29That I have no problem believing.
- 16:31and someone in the chat said,
- 16:34I think it was cross fat
- 16:36that the hopper just gave
- 16:38someone pink guy.
- 16:40He lost it.
- 16:47But I think they were talking about how,
- 16:48like,
- 16:49because of the way they have to eat
- 16:50on a competition weekend,
- 16:52their symptoms are just destroyed.
- 16:55It's Jack dude.
- 16:56It's Jack.
- 16:56I, I, I, I,
- 16:59any multi-day competition by
- 17:01day two like your stomach
- 17:03it's just because you're
- 17:04just you're eating whatever
- 17:06you can whenever you can um
- 17:08trying not whatever you can
- 17:09but you're eating whenever
- 17:10you can forcing yourself
- 17:11whenever you don't want to
- 17:12because you know you need
- 17:13it and your stomach doesn't
- 17:14always agree with that so
- 17:17yeah it becomes a problem
- 17:18and then it's making sure
- 17:20you get your protein in
- 17:21making sure you get your
- 17:21carbs in whatever kind of way so like
- 17:26At Monster Games,
- 17:28Nick from Holy Balls
- 17:30stopped me to ask me about
- 17:32something while I was on my
- 17:34way to the bathroom.
- 17:36And he's sitting there
- 17:37trying to have a conversation with me.
- 17:38And I finally had to stop.
- 17:39And I was like, hey, man,
- 17:41I will gladly talk to you
- 17:43in about ten minutes.
- 17:45And I'm about to poop my pants.
- 17:47And he started laughing.
- 17:49And he was like, oh, my bad.
- 17:51I was like, no, no, no.
- 17:53Cause I don't want to be rude to the dude.
- 17:55It's literally the first
- 17:56time I ever stopped to talk to him.
- 17:58But like, also I'm kind of in a bind.
- 18:00Like I will,
- 18:01I'll promise you I will come back,
- 18:04but if I don't go right now,
- 18:05we're going to have a
- 18:05problem right here on this
- 18:06floor in front of your booth.
- 18:07And I'll say, that's a great idea.
- 18:12Andrew Stenson, same for volunteers.
- 18:13Everyone's schedule is jacked up.
- 18:16Yeah.
- 18:16I can believe that.
- 18:18I can believe that.
- 18:20So I wanted to get from you,
- 18:23what were your impressions
- 18:24of this year's CrossFit
- 18:25Games as a spectator?
- 18:27I have been watching.
- 18:28So a little back story.
- 18:31So I started CrossFit May eighth,
- 18:34twenty eighteen, my very first day.
- 18:37I watched every game since then.
- 18:39Right.
- 18:39From twenty eighteen all the
- 18:40way up to here.
- 18:41Pretty much.
- 18:45You say I watch almost every
- 18:46heat of every athlete
- 18:48that's come through.
- 18:49This year was the best race
- 18:54I ever saw on the men's side.
- 18:56I mean,
- 18:57Tia was just out there doing Tia things.
- 18:59There's not really a whole
- 19:00lot anybody can do about that.
- 19:02But one of the best races I've ever seen,
- 19:05just because from day one,
- 19:07even all the way up until
- 19:09pretty much the final event,
- 19:11it was still anybody's game
- 19:13at that point.
- 19:15that was outstanding and
- 19:16with ten events over three
- 19:18days not sixteen not
- 19:21fourteen not twelve not any
- 19:23other stuff ten events over
- 19:25three days and one of the
- 19:27best races we've ever seen
- 19:29nothing like no crazy stuff
- 19:31going on you know what I
- 19:32mean there's no ring
- 19:34handstand push-ups or uh
- 19:35you know no kind of
- 19:38wildness like that like just straight up
- 19:42Line everybody up.
- 19:43Here's the workout.
- 19:44Let's see who can do it the best.
- 19:45Let's see who can go the fastest.
- 19:47Um, what the lap saying to no cuts.
- 19:50Love it.
- 19:51Big fan of no cuts.
- 19:52Let everybody play.
- 19:53Let everybody play.
- 19:54Why?
- 19:55Because you don't know if
- 19:55somebody in the first seat
- 19:57is going to do something
- 19:58that's going to affect what
- 19:59goes on in the last seat or
- 20:02in the middle heat or
- 20:03something along those lines.
- 20:04Like there was still a
- 20:05chance for people to shake
- 20:06up the leaderboard.
- 20:08Um,
- 20:09I enjoyed it thoroughly.
- 20:12Now,
- 20:12I will agree with some of the stuff
- 20:13that y'all were talking about.
- 20:16Sunday night, you know,
- 20:19same old problems with the camera angles,
- 20:21you know,
- 20:21following stuff on the floor
- 20:22that maybe wasn't super
- 20:24important at the time.
- 20:25Like,
- 20:25I don't need to see somebody standing
- 20:26there waiting to do another
- 20:27handstand push-up.
- 20:30We can cut out from that.
- 20:31And, like,
- 20:32I don't need to see Tia standing
- 20:33there doing this or whoever, you know,
- 20:35trying to get their
- 20:36forearms right before they
- 20:37go up to do a pegboard.
- 20:39That was kind of silly as
- 20:41far as I'm concerned.
- 20:41But they've been doing that
- 20:44at least as long as I've been watching.
- 20:45Yep.
- 20:47Ain't changed yet,
- 20:47like you were talking about
- 20:48the other day.
- 20:49Like, it hadn't stopped.
- 20:51But as far as that goes, and I did, again,
- 20:55even on the women's side, dude, yes,
- 20:58it was more or less a foregone conclusion,
- 21:00even though she lost the
- 21:01leader jersey for one
- 21:02workout that Tia was going to win.
- 21:04But the rest of the races underneath that,
- 21:07were still good, fun stuff to watch.
- 21:12I did not realize until the
- 21:15very end that Danielle
- 21:16Brandon was doing as well as she did.
- 21:21Dave said it yesterday that
- 21:23she basically did nine
- 21:24events and still placed fourth.
- 21:27That is bananas crazy.
- 21:30She literally took a zero in
- 21:32one event and still came out fourth.
- 21:37that's a piece of
- 21:37information you don't even
- 21:38know what to do with once
- 21:40it's digested like how good
- 21:41she actually was especially
- 21:43with everything that she
- 21:44was I say she was dealing
- 21:45with we can pretty much
- 21:47agree that it was
- 21:47self-inflicted at that
- 21:48point but somebody just
- 21:51basically just kind of
- 21:52there shepherding her
- 21:54because they don't you
- 21:55ain't got really time to
- 21:56call yourself somebody
- 21:57else's coach whenever
- 21:58you're only there for one
- 21:59weekend that was that was
- 22:02impressive that was super
- 22:03super impressive
- 22:06Kenneth DeLapp with,
- 22:07thirty no cuts is greater
- 22:09than forty with cuts.
- 22:11Absolutely.
- 22:12Absolutely.
- 22:13I still want the best thirty.
- 22:16Yeah.
- 22:19There were five on each side
- 22:21that had no impact in the
- 22:23outcome of the games.
- 22:24Yeah, I'd agree with that.
- 22:27Because of the way we did it this year.
- 22:33I think it would be cool if
- 22:34all thirty people at the
- 22:36games had an impact on the overall score.
- 22:41You'd see even better races at that point.
- 22:45right right yeah there's
- 22:48just a greater chance of
- 22:49middling right in doing
- 22:51those types of things that
- 22:52would affect the final
- 22:53score yeah taking a twelfth
- 22:56where it took a step I mean
- 22:58I've been screaming that
- 23:00from the mountaintop since
- 23:01I started a podcast six
- 23:02years ago and it it hasn't
- 23:06changed so agreed
- 23:14I like what Lito's saying right there, too,
- 23:15as far as that, you know, I mean,
- 23:18everybody's agreeing more
- 23:19or less that no cuts is
- 23:20definitely better.
- 23:21But when you make cuts,
- 23:21now all of a sudden certain
- 23:23events have more weight
- 23:25than others because now
- 23:27people aren't there anymore.
- 23:28And I don't like that at all.
- 23:29Like that's I think that's
- 23:31unfair to the entire field at that point.
- 23:35is that, oh, wait, well,
- 23:36now we're going down to a twenty people.
- 23:38Well, holy shit.
- 23:39Now the scores matter or
- 23:41mean a whole lot more one
- 23:42way or the other.
- 23:42And people that you just got
- 23:43cut might have done better
- 23:45on said event and gave me a
- 23:46little bit more of a buffer.
- 23:48Yeah, I don't like that at all.
- 23:52Meredith Jones asks, in your opinion,
- 23:54which five for men and
- 23:56women were missing?
- 23:57I don't think I could do
- 23:58that off the top of my head.
- 24:01Dave yesterday on Savan gave
- 24:02a great example.
- 24:04Nate Ackerman,
- 24:05when he was demoing the
- 24:07snatch run workout,
- 24:10his time in the demo
- 24:12setting his own bar would
- 24:13have finished fourth.
- 24:14Yeah.
- 24:16That's insane, by the way.
- 24:20That means that at minimum,
- 24:22he should have been in the field, right?
- 24:25Correct.
- 24:25I will tell you,
- 24:26Caroline Stanley should
- 24:27have been in the field.
- 24:28Kyra Milligan should have
- 24:29been in the field.
- 24:30And that's just from the demo team.
- 24:36So there's two on the women,
- 24:39one on the men.
- 24:40And I'm sure I could come up
- 24:41with them if I had just a
- 24:43little bit of time.
- 24:44I'd be more...
- 24:50I guess curious you could say as, as the,
- 24:52who shouldn't be there as far as that.
- 24:54I mean, let me Sydney Wells.
- 24:57There were no,
- 24:57there were no ring muscle-ups this year.
- 25:01How well does she do at the
- 25:02games with no ring muscle-ups?
- 25:05Probably, probably not terrible.
- 25:07Right.
- 25:08Probably not terrible.
- 25:09I will say this too.
- 25:10And I wanted to get this out
- 25:12while I'm still thinking about it is,
- 25:14and I know nobody cares about teams.
- 25:17I care about teams because
- 25:19four of my friends finished
- 25:21fifth in the world.
- 25:23And I want to give a big
- 25:24shout out to them because in,
- 25:26in our little Imam Kotex group,
- 25:30the day before it started,
- 25:32like the spin rankings come out,
- 25:34you know,
- 25:35where he thinks people are gonna finish,
- 25:36blah, blah, blah,
- 25:37where teams are gonna finish.
- 25:39They had him at seventeenth.
- 25:42And to the surprise of nobody that we knew,
- 25:45because we knew what kind
- 25:46of work they had put in,
- 25:47we knew what they were
- 25:48capable of and whatnot,
- 25:49they finished fifth,
- 25:51and that was outstanding.
- 25:54I have not yelled at my TV
- 25:55that much in quite some
- 25:57time when it wasn't LSU
- 25:59football season going on.
- 26:02Frickin' Josh and Jordan.
- 26:05Jordan,
- 26:06frickin' back squat in five-fifteen
- 26:08as a PR for him, by the way.
- 26:09Like, that hadn't happened before.
- 26:11Them just steady on doing
- 26:14what they're doing,
- 26:15sniping people off and
- 26:17getting people to work out, you know,
- 26:18coming out of basically nowhere.
- 26:20Like, super proud of those guys.
- 26:25You can't have both
- 26:26international
- 26:26representation and the
- 26:28strongest field possible at
- 26:30the same time.
- 26:31I think you can.
- 26:33Now,
- 26:33can it be an all-inclusive
- 26:35international field?
- 26:37Sure, not.
- 26:39But Xiong Yong Choi is one
- 26:41of the thirty best athletes in the world.
- 26:43She's international.
- 26:45There are a handful of
- 26:46European athletes that are
- 26:47the best in the world.
- 26:50Like Lucy Campbell, Amy Kringle,
- 26:54Elisa Fuliano, if she would participate,
- 26:57are in the top thirty in the world.
- 27:01emma tall if laura horvat
- 27:04decides to participate
- 27:06they're in the top thirty
- 27:08in the world but it but
- 27:12when you're holding an
- 27:13event and you make it where
- 27:15just the people from your
- 27:18continent get to come like
- 27:20africa or south america
- 27:22you're actually cheating
- 27:23the fans from seeing the
- 27:24best in the world
- 27:30You preach to the choir right there,
- 27:31homeboy.
- 27:35You preach to the choir right there.
- 27:37I get the why behind it
- 27:39because you want to try to
- 27:40get as many people involved
- 27:42as humanly possible,
- 27:43get eyes on the sport.
- 27:44I understand that part of it.
- 27:47But at the same time,
- 27:50you're going to get some people that,
- 27:54I hate to say it because it
- 27:55sounds horrible, just don't belong there.
- 27:59I don't know.
- 28:06It's definitely a longer
- 28:07debate than what we have time for today.
- 28:17Anyway.
- 28:20I don't look bad.
- 28:22Scott, your face is red.
- 28:25just gets stuck man it just
- 28:27gets stuck and I have to
- 28:28get it up anyway what I
- 28:35what I what I do want to
- 28:38talk about today while
- 28:39corey's here is one of the
- 28:42one of the monologues I
- 28:42wanted to do is talk about
- 28:48why crossfit can't be
- 28:49killed this is something that like
- 28:54I was thinking about on my long drive home,
- 28:57and you have all these
- 28:59people trying to come after CrossFit.
- 29:01You have your Metfixes.
- 29:03You have your WFPs.
- 29:05And I was just thinking about, like,
- 29:07I went back to the games this year,
- 29:10and it felt so good.
- 29:13And why did it feel so good?
- 29:16Because CrossFit has
- 29:17something that those other two do not.
- 29:21And that is...
- 29:23They define who they are.
- 29:28When you ask someone what CrossFit is,
- 29:32we all know it's constantly varied,
- 29:35functional movement
- 29:37executed at high intensity.
- 29:42We have a hierarchy pyramid
- 29:46that explains to us how you
- 29:49build that up.
- 29:51And we have a sickness, wellness,
- 29:55fitness continuum that
- 29:57explains like how you can
- 29:59stay healthy using the
- 30:03CrossFit methodology.
- 30:06And because of that,
- 30:07CrossFit has a North Star.
- 30:10They have a foundation.
- 30:13They have fundamentals.
- 30:17And whenever someone loses their way,
- 30:20Like, especially in sports,
- 30:21you always hear,
- 30:22when someone loses their way,
- 30:24what do you do next?
- 30:26You go back to the fundamentals.
- 30:30It's another thing Greg Glassman said,
- 30:32right?
- 30:33Right.
- 30:34And that's the MCI, mechanics, consistency,
- 30:39intensity.
- 30:40When you lose it,
- 30:42you go back and do the mechanics again,
- 30:44then they become consistent again,
- 30:46and then you do the intensity.
- 30:49Or when you get to a point
- 30:50where you think you can't get any better,
- 30:52then you break it down.
- 30:54You go back to the mechanics,
- 30:55you go back to the basics
- 30:57and you refine those until
- 31:00even those basics,
- 31:01because you can always get better.
- 31:03It's always something to work on.
- 31:05It's my favorite thing about CrossFit.
- 31:07It's always something to do.
- 31:08It's always something to get better at.
- 31:10So we have a horrible event
- 31:12that happens last year.
- 31:14We come back to the games this year.
- 31:18And we're back to a CrossFit
- 31:21Games that is programmed
- 31:23classic CrossFit.
- 31:25What did Dave do?
- 31:27Go back to the fundamentals.
- 31:31Go back to the North Star.
- 31:35Right?
- 31:37The community.
- 31:39Celebrate the community.
- 31:41That's what CrossFit's about, right?
- 31:44And then you go to Vendor
- 31:45Village and you see the
- 31:46CrossFit store with Forging Elite Fitness,
- 31:50with... Pukie.
- 31:56With Pukie.
- 31:59Routine is the enemy.
- 32:01Routine is the enemy.
- 32:03all of the catchphrases that
- 32:06take us back to that North Star.
- 32:09You see the pyramid on the shirts again.
- 32:12You see all these things.
- 32:15And whenever CrossFit loses its way,
- 32:19which happened in twenty twenty,
- 32:21probably happened before twenty twenty.
- 32:23Yeah.
- 32:25But whenever it loses its way,
- 32:27it always has that North Star or that
- 32:32that foundation and that
- 32:33fundamental to go back to.
- 32:36If you ask MedFix, who are they?
- 32:39They can't tell you.
- 32:43They can't tell you.
- 32:44When you ask WFP who they are,
- 32:47they're for athletes by athletes.
- 32:50That's a freaking marketing slogan.
- 32:52It's not a foundation.
- 32:55It's not a North Star.
- 32:57It's an all-star game.
- 32:59And if that's what you're
- 33:00hanging your hat on, you're in trouble.
- 33:04Big time.
- 33:06Right?
- 33:07You ask someone in the
- 33:08CrossFit space who they are,
- 33:12they've got constantly
- 33:14varied functional movement
- 33:16executed at high intensity.
- 33:19And they have a pyramid.
- 33:21And they have a continuum.
- 33:22And they will talk to you
- 33:24about it until your ears bleed.
- 33:27Because we love it so much.
- 33:31You go to these other two,
- 33:34MedFix over here will tell
- 33:36you every big word that
- 33:37you're going to have to
- 33:38look up after it's all over
- 33:40to figure out what the hell
- 33:41they just said.
- 33:43And you're still not going
- 33:44to understand who they are
- 33:46or what they're trying to do.
- 33:49WFP or the athletes by the athletes.
- 33:56Where's the community?
- 33:57Where's the foundation?
- 33:59Where's the fundamental?
- 34:03It doesn't exist.
- 34:05And that was the beauty of
- 34:07this year's CrossFit Games.
- 34:09It was all about the North Star again.
- 34:13And that's why the vibes
- 34:14were so freaking good.
- 34:18Speaking about that,
- 34:19so going back to the broadcast,
- 34:21I know you get to see a
- 34:22whole lot of the actual broadcast,
- 34:23but Chase and Adrian,
- 34:26who I knew were going to do a good job,
- 34:28heard them over before,
- 34:31Adrian, especially, was accentuating,
- 34:40cementing, saying things like, hey,
- 34:43during this right now,
- 34:44you are going from that
- 34:45core to extremity.
- 34:46It's like he's giving a
- 34:48class about what's going on on the floor.
- 34:54Yes, Chase was fantastic.
- 34:55But listening to Adrian tie
- 34:57it back to the fundamentals
- 34:59of what we do and just
- 35:02watching these people do it
- 35:04at the highest possible level.
- 35:07Like that for me,
- 35:08because every time I'd hear
- 35:09him say something and he
- 35:10would tie it back to stuff
- 35:12that I remember from my L-I.
- 35:14to stuff that I might say
- 35:15during the course of a
- 35:16class that I'm coaching.
- 35:20That was phenomenal.
- 35:21That was outstanding to, again,
- 35:25like you were just saying,
- 35:26to bring it back down to a
- 35:28community level,
- 35:29to stuff that people can identify with,
- 35:32not just, oh, yeah,
- 35:36Ricky ran a
- 35:38five-forty-seven on his last mile.
- 35:40Ninety-nine percent of
- 35:41people that go to CrossFit
- 35:42class cannot identify that.
- 35:44But what they can identify with is that,
- 35:45oh,
- 35:45he picked up his pace to try to finish
- 35:48strong.
- 35:48Well, I tell people that every day.
- 35:50I tell people that this
- 35:51morning when I coach class.
- 35:53For me,
- 35:54that part in and of itself was
- 35:56outstanding.
- 35:58And then Chase doing what Chase does,
- 36:00and he's gotten from every
- 36:04time I've ever heard him,
- 36:05he just gets better every
- 36:06time he gets an opportunity to.
- 36:09to get out there and, and,
- 36:11and paint the picture.
- 36:13It was, it was that they were,
- 36:14they were awesome all weekend.
- 36:18And here's kind of the sum up of this,
- 36:19right?
- 36:20Because there's a North star,
- 36:23because there's a foundation,
- 36:25because there are these
- 36:27fundamentals and tools
- 36:28provided to illustrate those.
- 36:32Dave, Boz, Heather Lawrence, Chase, Adrian,
- 36:40all of those people can be
- 36:41on the same page.
- 36:43Yep.
- 36:45Singing out of the same hymnal,
- 36:48singing the same tune.
- 36:52And when that happens,
- 36:54it's beautiful again.
- 36:58These other people coming
- 36:59after CrossFit can't do that.
- 37:02So all these people that say,
- 37:04is CrossFit dying?
- 37:05No, it's not dying.
- 37:08We've stumbled.
- 37:09We've stumbled because we
- 37:12lost the North Star.
- 37:14We lost the fundamentals.
- 37:18But they never were gone.
- 37:19They just were hidden.
- 37:22And the minute we reset on
- 37:24those fundamentals and
- 37:26those foundation and that North Star,
- 37:30this thing's a beautiful thing.
- 37:33And we sing together as a
- 37:35community out of the same hymnal,
- 37:38out of the same playbook,
- 37:40and we become this big communal team.
- 37:48Would you say the games were
- 37:49good advertisement for
- 37:50affiliates once again?
- 37:52I do.
- 37:54And they advertised
- 37:55affiliates during the broadcast.
- 38:00That's what I was fixing to say.
- 38:01Like, I mean,
- 38:02granted it was the same two or three ads,
- 38:05uh, the entire weekend,
- 38:06but it's showing what goes
- 38:08on inside of affiliates.
- 38:10which is a sharp contrast to
- 38:12what's going on at the game.
- 38:13At the same time, though,
- 38:15ninety percent of what went
- 38:17on at the games,
- 38:19you can do inside of an affiliate.
- 38:23Running the running Isabel,
- 38:25that would be real easy to
- 38:26do as a class workout.
- 38:29Every workout they did at
- 38:30the games this year,
- 38:33you could do inside the affiliate.
- 38:35Yeah.
- 38:36I'm going to scale it down.
- 38:38But, hey, that's kind of what we do.
- 38:43Hey, if you can't do this,
- 38:44let me go and let's do this instead.
- 38:47Oh, you can't do that.
- 38:47That's fine.
- 38:48We'll just work on this instead.
- 38:50And that way we'll maintain the stimulus.
- 38:53Look,
- 38:54our EMOM company program and Brandon
- 38:56programmed at least three,
- 38:58because I haven't looked at all week,
- 38:59but at least three of the
- 39:00workouts from the games this weekend.
- 39:03for this week now there's
- 39:06levels to it right so you
- 39:08might not want to run four
- 39:09miles row three k and then
- 39:11run two and run and run two
- 39:13so he kind of pulled it
- 39:14back so that you could um
- 39:18and I know a couple other
- 39:18people that have done the
- 39:19same the same type thing
- 39:22yeah there you go well
- 39:24sentinel posted their
- 39:27first day of the games with
- 39:29modifications all three
- 39:31workouts online somewhere I
- 39:33saw today and it it was
- 39:35awesome yeah we got the
- 39:37same thing so this this
- 39:39little short or this reel
- 39:41came out in march of this
- 39:42year you know we we dog
- 39:45crossfit sometimes but
- 39:47they've been working hard
- 39:47this year this came out earlier this year
- 39:53And it just tells the whole story.
- 39:55Six-word phrase that we say,
- 39:57what is CrossFit?
- 39:59CrossFit is constantly
- 40:00varied functional movements
- 40:01that are executed at high intensity.
- 40:04It's a strength and
- 40:05conditioning program that
- 40:06mixes weightlifting, calisthenics,
- 40:09powerlifting, running, rowing, biking,
- 40:12and a whole bunch of different ways.
- 40:14It's family, it's community,
- 40:16it's a no BS approach to
- 40:19bettering your life,
- 40:20not only inside the walls of the gym,
- 40:21but also outside the walls of the gym.
- 40:27If I looked at each
- 40:28individual person that
- 40:29walks in every single day here,
- 40:31it's like everybody's
- 40:32absolutely different.
- 40:33look like my eight-year-old dad.
- 40:35It could look like my kids.
- 40:37I can honestly say hand on
- 40:38heart that it will change their life.
- 40:40Not because it's just a fitness program,
- 40:43not because of the community,
- 40:44but because the greatest
- 40:46adaptation that occurs in
- 40:47CrossFit happens right here.
- 40:53I've watched that no less
- 40:53than twenty-five times.
- 40:56Isn't that awesome?
- 40:58That is the North Star.
- 41:00Whenever we lose our way, we've got that.
- 41:05Every video I see that has
- 41:07Chuck Carswell on it,
- 41:08I stop whatever I'm doing
- 41:09and I watch however long it takes.
- 41:11Like if it's five seconds,
- 41:12if it's thirty seconds,
- 41:13if it's two minutes, whatever,
- 41:15because that dude is on point.
- 41:18Like there's nothing that
- 41:19he's I've never heard Chuck
- 41:20say something.
- 41:21I was like, well,
- 41:21that sounded stupid or whatever.
- 41:23Like that dude has always got it together.
- 41:27But yeah, I legitimately watch that video.
- 41:29You just put up at least
- 41:31twenty five times.
- 41:32Every time I see it,
- 41:33I sit there and I just
- 41:33watch the whole thing.
- 41:35Mark Phillips, Chuck is the best.
- 41:39The video Sevan made with
- 41:41Hobart were so good.
- 41:46I'll tell you,
- 41:46Sevan doing the affiliate
- 41:49videos was just masterful.
- 41:56They were fantastic.
- 41:58I don't see any of them that
- 41:59I thought were, yeah,
- 42:01they were all super good.
- 42:06Yeah, every box has a story.
- 42:10Absolutely.
- 42:10At least one story.
- 42:12Probably ten stories.
- 42:17Bill Grundler put out a
- 42:18video today about a guy who
- 42:19came into his gym and the
- 42:22joy he got doing this
- 42:23modified workout that just
- 42:26told him he had the rest of
- 42:27his life still.
- 42:30Like, that made me cry, dude.
- 42:33Well, and then especially bill,
- 42:34like making it relatable with bills,
- 42:36like dude, like the dude's my age.
- 42:39And like,
- 42:39I don't feel like I'm past my prime or,
- 42:44you know, whatever.
- 42:44Like I got a lot of life
- 42:46left to live and I wanted
- 42:46to live it in a quality manner.
- 42:51So like for bill, that that's personal.
- 42:53Somebody comes in there and that's,
- 42:54that's his age.
- 42:54Like, Oh no, no, no, we don't, we don't,
- 42:56we don't make this right.
- 42:58Yeah, dude,
- 42:58that I saw that this morning too.
- 43:00That was fantastic.
- 43:02What they didn't advertise
- 43:03at all during the games was
- 43:05the age group and adaptive games.
- 43:07And that is sad.
- 43:09And we're going to get into
- 43:10that a little bit because
- 43:15this bugs me and I know it
- 43:17bugs Jamie and I'm sure
- 43:18she's going to talk about it this week.
- 43:24But all of the Masters Games
- 43:27workouts are coming out on
- 43:30the Legends Instagram.
- 43:33Yep.
- 43:36And so Jamie's like, is it for the games?
- 43:39Is it for the legends in December?
- 43:42Is it, which one is it?
- 43:51It makes no sense.
- 43:53I had only seen the one.
- 43:54I didn't realize they had
- 43:54released more than one.
- 43:57Yep.
- 43:58I saw the heavy cleaning
- 43:59jerk and I immediately said
- 44:00to Jamie and she was like, hate it.
- 44:02And I said, I knew you would.
- 44:05Well,
- 44:05even this one and the legends are
- 44:07known for going heavy.
- 44:09Right.
- 44:09So the axle bar deadlifts,
- 44:12eighty foot sled push.
- 44:18And then they're doing this
- 44:19movement thing where.
- 44:21Yeah.
- 44:22Cross them off as they go.
- 44:31so yeah and the I think we
- 44:35have bigger fish to fry
- 44:36than the graphics but I get
- 44:38what you're saying it's
- 44:40like they stole jim
- 44:42reaper's like format and
- 44:45made it for everything and
- 44:54I get that they've handed
- 44:55it off I understand that
- 44:58I'm actually a fan of that because
- 45:02Now, you know, to a degree,
- 45:04I wanted to be able to make
- 45:05the games and be at the games,
- 45:07not at the Masters games,
- 45:09like at the games where the
- 45:10Masters games are also going on.
- 45:12But I understand the
- 45:14shifting as far as that's concerned.
- 45:16But the fact that there's
- 45:18not one piece of thing I've
- 45:21seen from CrossFit at all
- 45:25Saying that, hey, in two and a half weeks,
- 45:27we're having these Masters
- 45:29CrossFit games in Columbus.
- 45:31And where's the pit?
- 45:33The teams are that same weekend, are they?
- 45:35Yeah, and they're all in the same place.
- 45:38And they're all in the same place, okay,
- 45:39yeah.
- 45:39So I haven't seen a thing
- 45:41from CrossFit as far as
- 45:42that is concerned.
- 45:43I saw they announced who was
- 45:46announcing them.
- 45:48And I don't even remember if
- 45:49that was Legends or if that
- 45:50was from CrossFit.
- 45:55Say it again?
- 45:55It was Legends.
- 45:57Okay.
- 45:59Yeah.
- 46:01Yeah,
- 46:01I don't even have... I've not
- 46:03received a page of media stuff yet.
- 46:08So I may just be there as a
- 46:09spectator meeting everybody.
- 46:15Vicky asks,
- 46:15should they bring back age
- 46:16groups and adapt it to the
- 46:18regular CrossFit games?
- 46:21I'm a little conflicted.
- 46:29don't know I really don't
- 46:30know I liked the masters
- 46:33being by themselves last
- 46:34year I'm okay with the
- 46:36teens coming in and making
- 46:37it the age group but
- 46:41there's got to be some kind
- 46:42of connection yeah through
- 46:45the games I think it should
- 46:48be before the games and
- 46:50then highlights shown at
- 46:51the games if they're going
- 46:52to separate them like in between events
- 46:58I don't disagree with that take,
- 47:00but that's never going to happen.
- 47:01And you know it.
- 47:05They're not even advertising
- 47:07the fact that our games are happening.
- 47:12Asking them to show a clip
- 47:14of Lito freaking clean
- 47:16jerking whatever she's
- 47:19going to do at the actual
- 47:22games is slim to none.
- 47:26I just don't see it.
- 47:27What bugs me is last year
- 47:28was ten workouts.
- 47:30This year is seven plus
- 47:32final for half the field.
- 47:34Well,
- 47:36the ten last year was half the field
- 47:38for the tenth.
- 47:40That's the same.
- 47:43And two of the seven so far
- 47:44are heavy and less than three minutes.
- 47:50That's Legends stuff, dude.
- 47:53Legends likes their heavy stuff.
- 47:55That's just what they're releasing early.
- 48:00I mean,
- 48:02I don't remember exactly where I
- 48:04was at the games last year,
- 48:05but I do know that for the Legends,
- 48:10like the December one,
- 48:11like all of our events were pretty quick,
- 48:14relatively speaking.
- 48:17The heavy events were relatively heavy.
- 48:19Like we had a hundred and
- 48:19fifty pound sad bag.
- 48:20We had a clean, uh, complex, uh,
- 48:26hundred and fifteen pound hang snatches.
- 48:29That was, and that was three minutes long.
- 48:30That was the first event
- 48:32that we had was literally three minutes,
- 48:35uh, three minutes long,
- 48:36like just rip the bandaid
- 48:37off and hit it hard,
- 48:39which I enjoyed because
- 48:40that's kind of stuff I'm
- 48:41built for like quick, fast,
- 48:43get in there and get it done, uh,
- 48:45type stuff.
- 48:45But.
- 48:48We weren't on total time
- 48:49over the entire weekend.
- 48:51We weren't on the floor super long.
- 48:54Uh, Jay Birch,
- 48:54what sucks is the majority
- 48:55of open participants are
- 48:57probably age group people.
- 48:59Not probably.
- 49:01Fifty percent of open
- 49:03participants are thirty
- 49:04five to forty nine years old.
- 49:09This guy right here.
- 49:12Yes, Amanda.
- 49:13The uh, we did have a swim.
- 49:18That was pretty cool.
- 49:19The legends winter event is
- 49:21held at a facility that
- 49:23makes a swim really easy.
- 49:25Yeah.
- 49:26You literally walk outside
- 49:27the booth right there.
- 49:27Yeah.
- 49:30Part of the venue.
- 49:31Yeah.
- 49:34For a lot of these venues,
- 49:36they would have to secure
- 49:37another venue for that.
- 49:41Talking about legends in December.
- 49:42Um,
- 49:44being programmed by Boulder Athlete.
- 49:45So being programmed by Jason
- 49:47Grubb this year, who's not participating.
- 49:50Supposedly, or not supposedly,
- 49:53they said him and whoever else, Joe,
- 49:55I guess, possibly Jason Ansley,
- 49:57were going,
- 49:58doing some site visits to
- 50:00better utilize the space
- 50:02that we have to compete over there.
- 50:04So I don't know exactly what that means.
- 50:05And they're talking about
- 50:06like in terms of workouts.
- 50:08If we're going to get
- 50:09another outside event,
- 50:10if we're going to have a different event,
- 50:12like a different thing,
- 50:14Because, I mean,
- 50:14last year the swim was
- 50:15literally just as far as
- 50:16you can go in eight minutes
- 50:19or ten minutes, whatever it was.
- 50:22So they're going to add, you know,
- 50:24and implement.
- 50:24They're going to add something different.
- 50:28That was the official word was that.
- 50:30Well,
- 50:30two years ago it was a dumbbell and
- 50:33you would do one hundreds
- 50:35and then dumbbell work,
- 50:37hundred dumbbell work.
- 50:40Yep.
- 50:42But.
- 50:43All right.
- 50:44We are probably past the top of the hour.
- 50:49I don't think the separation
- 50:50of the age group in Indies
- 50:51matters as much.
- 50:53Rather, the athlete experience does,
- 50:55and that has dramatically
- 50:56changed since it separated.
- 50:57I think every athlete will
- 50:59agree with that.
- 51:01One hundred percent.
- 51:06So they contributed fifty
- 51:08percent of the prize purse
- 51:09for the elites.
- 51:10Well,
- 51:11the the Masters Prize money comes out
- 51:13of that, too.
- 51:16Out of the yeah,
- 51:17out of the open registrations,
- 51:19so they're contributing to
- 51:21their own as well,
- 51:22but it is much smaller than the elites.
- 51:28Which.
- 51:31The majority of the elites
- 51:32are going to say they're
- 51:32not there for the money.
- 51:36But they are.
- 51:40Justin Medeiros out touching
- 51:43James Sprague cost him
- 51:44eleven thousand dollars.
- 51:47Or elites.
- 51:50The Masters elites.
- 51:51The Masters elites.
- 51:54We get a lot smaller share
- 51:57of the prize money as far
- 51:59as the game is concerned.
- 52:00I say we like I've made it already,
- 52:02but I have not yet.
- 52:03But.
- 52:04When I do make it,
- 52:05I'm not going there to try to win money.
- 52:06I'm going there to be a games athlete.
- 52:17Go back to the North star
- 52:19elite age group and
- 52:20adaptive all in the same week in Madison.
- 52:23There are problems with that too, George.
- 52:25And it's,
- 52:27The Adaptive only got five
- 52:28of their divisions to go to Madison.
- 52:32And they have sixteen different divisions.
- 52:35Because they can't change
- 52:36the floor as quickly in
- 52:40Madison for the wheelchair
- 52:42athletes and things like that.
- 52:45So there are benefits to
- 52:51separating it out.
- 52:54But they need to...
- 52:58They need to make the experience the same,
- 53:01the kits the same.
- 53:04That's what sucks for the
- 53:06Masters athletes is they
- 53:08don't even have enough
- 53:09clothes to get them to the
- 53:12week and they're required
- 53:13to wear nothing but those
- 53:15clothes at the event.
- 53:20That last year, who was it?
- 53:24Northern Spirit last year?
- 53:27Yeah.
- 53:27For the, uh, for the,
- 53:28for the master's groups.
- 53:31And I remember texting my, my buddy,
- 53:33Brandon,
- 53:33if I know that I made it and he was like,
- 53:36and he's so laid back, dude, he was like,
- 53:38I don't even care.
- 53:40He said, I'm just,
- 53:41cause he was just happy to be there,
- 53:42you know, happy to get his stuff.
- 53:44And I would be too, but at the same time,
- 53:47like now I'm having to do laundry.
- 53:52At some point,
- 53:53either that or I'm warming up in no shirt,
- 53:55taking the floor with a shirt,
- 53:57taking my shirt off before
- 53:57I get out there so that I
- 53:58can wear it again sometime
- 53:59later without having to go
- 54:00back and spend money at the laundromat.
- 54:10Andrew said the last year, Madison,
- 54:11wasn't the Masters only ten
- 54:12per age group?
- 54:13It was.
- 54:15Yep, it was ten.
- 54:17The payouts just aren't there for Masters,
- 54:19which is one of the reasons
- 54:20I'm one hundred percent in favor.
- 54:24of in-person semis.
- 54:28It would just add to the
- 54:28cost of the season in the same goal.
- 54:32So, David, I don't know if you remember,
- 54:34but Castro was asked about
- 54:38that earlier this year,
- 54:40and he said that it's a
- 54:41strong possibility that we
- 54:42are going to have in-person
- 54:44events that will be
- 54:45qualifiers for the Masters
- 54:46CrossFit Games.
- 54:50Yeah, he meant not in favor.
- 54:52Well...
- 54:53Either way.
- 54:57Yeah,
- 54:57I think they're going to be included
- 54:58as part of the other semifinals.
- 55:01I think so, too.
- 55:03It had Masters divisions anyway.
- 55:06You're still going to, and look,
- 55:07and I've been thinking about that too,
- 55:09is that you're still going
- 55:09to have to do the online
- 55:10qualifier to get to that in-person event.
- 55:14So it's not like they're
- 55:14going away anytime soon,
- 55:16but at least it gives
- 55:17people a better chance,
- 55:19people who are better in
- 55:20person than they are online, you know,
- 55:22where you don't get thirty
- 55:23seven tries at it.
- 55:24Like you will do it right now.
- 55:25We'll call it good.
- 55:28more legitimate shot at
- 55:29actually making it if you
- 55:30can make it you know
- 55:32through the qualifier get
- 55:33to the thing and then do
- 55:34what you got to do to get
- 55:35yourself in the qualifying
- 55:36spot well that guys we are
- 55:40way over I have a meeting
- 55:42coming up and I need to uh
- 55:45sorry um with that thank
- 55:49you all for being here
- 55:50tomorrow we're going to talk about
- 55:53why Dave Castro isn't dumb.
- 55:57And people that say he
- 56:00doesn't know what he's talking about are.
- 56:03So for that, tune into that tomorrow.
- 56:06We'll talk about that.
- 56:07And then I will have Sunday
- 56:09Night CrossFit talk this Sunday.
- 56:12And if you didn't get the
- 56:13Amanda Hari clip interview,
- 56:16it's a few minutes long.
- 56:18Go check that out.
- 56:19And I have one more media
- 56:20person that I have to edit
- 56:21and get out there.
- 56:24And it's really different.
- 56:25These people do extreme
- 56:26sports and decided to jump
- 56:28into the CrossFit space and record.
- 56:32But in their other business,
- 56:33they do shark videos.
- 56:37They do MMA.
- 56:40They do a bunch of stuff like that.
- 56:42So I did a little feature on them.
- 56:45That'll be coming out later
- 56:46this week as well.
- 56:47That sounds cool as shit.
- 56:49With that,
- 56:49we'll see everybody next time on
- 56:51Lunch with Clydesdale.
- 56:54Peace.
