• 0:12
Speaker 1: We hope to talk with Rob Burley about his benefit auction down in Galveston, and later Jeff will bring us some of his car culture with six American car names that no longer exist.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: Well, the names exist, but the cars don't.
• 0:27
Speaker 1: Well, yes, and Mars has his driving destinations Labor Day getaways I saw a preview of that.
• 0:34
Speaker 2: It's pretty good this half hour.
• 0:37
Speaker 1: Howdy, along with Mike, out of this world Mars.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: We always need more.
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: Jeff Zekin.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: Chief Engineer David Ainsley.
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: I'm Don Armstrong.
• 0:49
Speaker 3: Glad you could join us on this Saturday live broadcast.
• 0:51
Speaker 3: We're waiting on our guests, so I've got a quick fill-in.
• 0:53
Speaker 3: If you want, I would love to have you do that.
• 0:54
Speaker 3: Okay, well, you ever know how much a replacement key fob is?
• 0:57
Speaker 3: Have you ever lost a key fob?
• 0:59
Speaker 3: I've heard they can be very expensive.
• 1:00
Speaker 3: They can be, but it depends on the kind of vehicle.
• 1:03
Speaker 3: So it's a make model of the vehicle.
• 1:05
Speaker 3: If it's a luxury brand, it's obviously going to cost more.
• 1:07
Speaker 3: Is it an OE or you have to go to the auto supply store?
• 1:11
Speaker 1: and get a generic.
• 1:14
Speaker 3: Not an OE, but an OE, oe and an OE and an INI, ini or an Audi.
• 1:18
Speaker 3: But we've got the young man there, go ahead and finish.
• 1:25
Speaker 3: Finish your story type of service.
• 1:26
Speaker 3: If you just want a simple battery replacement, they're anywhere between five and twenty five dollars to do that for the battery, depending again on the fob.
• 1:30
Speaker 3: Standard key fob replacement aftermarket is between 50 and 150 dollars, so be careful of that.
• 1:37
Speaker 3: Oem or any, or audi, whatever you want to call it uh, fob replacement 150 to 500 dollars.
• 1:45
Speaker 3: So I imagine that that alpha probably was in a higher price range if we place that fob smart key or proximity fob replacement 250 to 600, key fob programming at a dealership between 50 and 150, so be careful of that.
• 1:58
Speaker 3: Locksmith programming is between 30 and 100 bucks.
• 2:02
Speaker 3: So if you've got one, take care of it, don't lose it.
• 2:05
Speaker 3: Keep it in your pocket whatever the case.
• 2:07
Speaker 3: But if the battery goes you can do those yourself.
• 2:09
Speaker 3: I replace batteries in Kathy's and mine all the time.
• 2:11
Speaker 3: They go bad, but losing it is a different story, or breaking it is a different story, so be prepared for that.
• 2:17
Speaker 3: If you've got money stashed for service or repairs on your car, put a couple extra bucks away for the fob in case you need it.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: Yep, yep, absolutely All right.
• 2:24
Speaker 1: Thank you, yep, all right, there is a big Just lost him.
• 2:29
Speaker 4: Hold on, there he is.
• 2:32
Speaker 3: All right, Go ahead Don.
• 2:33
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 2:34
Speaker 1: There's a big to-do coming up down in Galveston in a couple of weeks, and here to join us.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: To tell us about it is a fellow by the name of Rob Burley Burley Auctions, and it's going to be down at a familiar place to most of us here in the Houston area.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: Rob, good morning to you.
• 2:56
  Speaker 5: Good morning guys.
• 2:57
Speaker 5: How are you doing today?
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Very well, thank you.
• 2:59
Speaker 1: So big auction down there at Moody Gardens, I understand.
• 3:03
Speaker 5: Yes, sir, we put together.
• 3:04
Speaker 5: This is our second year doing it there and you know it's a car-focused auction with a lot of memorabilia, and we've even got a really good estate collection of antique firearms in there with Texas Ranger guns Hell, we even got a Gatlin gun.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: A Gatlin gun Do you have the bullets to go along with it, because I could use it on a couple of people.
• 3:24
  Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a 45-70 Navy model like an 1890s Colt.
• 3:28
Speaker 5: It's actually made by Colt and it fired 45-70 rounds, so I think that would handle pretty much anything.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: Does it have a crank on it?
• 3:37
  Speaker 5: It does.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: Now wait a minute.
• 3:41
Speaker 3: If it works, then don't you have to have a certain federal license to own that?
• 3:46
Speaker 5: Oddly enough on this one, no, because it's not an actual machine gun.
• 3:49
Speaker 5: Each time you're firing one single round out of that barrel, so it's just like a semi-automatic.
• 3:56
Speaker 5: Wow, nobody's this gun.
• 3:58
Speaker 5: This gun's got a ton of history to it.
• 4:00
Speaker 5: It does not have the carriage.
• 4:02
Speaker 5: It's one of the navy versions that would have mounted on like a post.
• 4:05
Speaker 5: So there's no carriage but there's history to it.
• 4:07
Speaker 5: It's got texas ranger history to it.
• 4:09
Speaker 5: And uh, you know, that gun's 150 000.
• 4:12
Speaker 5: Nobody's gonna buy that gun and go knock over a liquor store with now, that's what I was thinking, that's what I had plans for saturday night there, ruin my weekend oh my god.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: so, um, let's talk about the car show first of all.
• 4:27
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, so who's invited?
• 4:29
Speaker 1: How do you get in?
• 4:30
Speaker 1: I want to show a car, or I want to view the cars that are there.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: Tell me about all that.
• 4:37
Speaker 5: All right, there's two events going on there at Moody Gardens.
• 4:40
Speaker 5: There's the car show which follows our event.
• 4:43
Speaker 5: We're actually a car auction, so we are a classic car auction.
• 4:47
Speaker 5: Moody that last year we did it with moody gardens.
• 4:50
Speaker 5: They had us do it on labor day, monday.
• 4:52
Speaker 5: It's the only time I've ever done an auction on a monday.
• 4:54
Speaker 5: We had a tropical storm hit the day of it, flooded so bad that flooded the parking lot oh my god get there.
• 5:02
Speaker 5: But we had about.
• 5:03
Speaker 5: You know, some of our regulars were already there.
• 5:05
Speaker 5: They came to me go, what are you gonna do?
• 5:07
  Speaker 5: And I go.
• 5:07
Speaker 5: We're going literally hell or high water and we had a great time.
• 5:10
Speaker 5: It was a great sale.
• 5:11
Speaker 5: Internet carried a lot of it, but we sold hell.
• 5:14
Speaker 5: We sold several vets over the hundred thousand dollar mark.
• 5:17
Speaker 5: Uh, we had a really nice, uh, split window survivor 63 sold for 100 grand.
• 5:23
Speaker 5: So it was a bargain, great car.
• 5:25
Speaker 5: And we had a 55 chevy come in the two days before that.
• 5:29
  Speaker 5: That thing ran.
• 5:30
Speaker 5: I mean it was so smooth, all original, sold for 22 grand.
• 5:34
Speaker 5: You know, wow, yeah, I mean, there was, there was buys there, there was some of the stuff that brought a lot of money.
• 5:40
Speaker 5: We set record prices on some of the signs but uh, the cars were all over the place.
• 5:44
Speaker 5: So it was a fun event.
• 5:46
Speaker 5: We brought in dale watson last year.
• 5:48
Speaker 5: So this year we'd we'd done it and we had planned this thing about a year out and we we did a three-day music festival.
• 5:54
  Speaker 5: So all that.
• 5:54
Speaker 5: We're trying to get people to come to the island and stay and be there for the car, for the car auction, and and stay there for the concerts.
• 6:01
Speaker 5: You know we're it's hard to get people to go to an auction these days and we're not trying to be Mecham or Barrett Jackson who are the kings of that heap.
• 6:08
  Speaker 5: We're a mixed bag.
• 6:09
Speaker 5: We got antique guns, we got signs, we got all kinds of stuff plus a great collection of cars.
• 6:15
Speaker 5: But we were also putting music on top of it, so you'd have entertainment there at the resort and never have to leave the resort.
• 6:21
Speaker 5: Well, after the floods on july 4th, uh, you know, I live.
• 6:28
Speaker 5: I literally live on the guadalupe river in new brussels oh lord.
• 6:30
Speaker 5: We had helicopters above my house.
• 6:31
Speaker 5: We had rescue boats behind my house.
• 6:33
Speaker 5: Nobody here, you know, lost their lives.
• 6:36
Speaker 5: But up river, if it wasn't for the canyon lake dam, it would have taken my house.
• 6:40
Speaker 5: You know, we had about a 13 foot rise here.
• 6:43
Speaker 5: They had a, you know, some of those places had a 57 foot rise.
• 6:46
Speaker 5: So as we got closer to this event, it just uh, everybody around me had lost somebody, including the chairman of moody gardens.
• 6:55
Speaker 5: So when we figured that out, I had and I'm an auctioneer by trade.
• 6:59
Speaker 5: I run an auction house, but I also do a ton of fundraising.
• 7:03
Speaker 5: I've raised over 100 million dollars from the Mike pro bono.
• 7:06
Speaker 5: So when this happened, I said you know what?
• 7:09
Speaker 5: I've already got the band scheduled.
• 7:10
Speaker 5: What I'm going to do is we're going to donate 100% of the ticket sales to the flood relief charities there.
• 7:16
Speaker 5: Local in Curve, nice, very nice.
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: Very nice.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: So well, that's good to know and I was looking at the scheduled entertainment I'm going.
• 7:25
Speaker 1: Are you sure this isn't the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo?
• 7:30
Speaker 5: Oh, these guys are friends, so I was able to pull favors to get some of these guys to come play.
• 7:34
Speaker 5: Gary P, dale Watson all those guys are good friends of mine.
• 7:37
  Speaker 5: William Beckman Hell.
• 7:38
Speaker 5: I used to book William Beckman for $300 when nobody knew who he was.
• 7:41
Speaker 5: He parked his bus at my place for years.
• 7:51
Speaker 5: He's hard to book, you know.
• 7:52
Speaker 5: Uh, kevin fowler, we were trying to get over there.
• 7:53
Speaker 5: He's got, he's coming to play there for y'all.
• 7:54
Speaker 5: Uh, in galveston, uh, so there's a proximity clause issue, um, but uh, you know, we were trying to put together a good event and and we brought in some of the better guys in texas and I I'm gonna tell you right now, I got got over $100,000 in that lineup.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: Well, I can see that.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: I mean here's Dale Watson, Corey Morrow.
• 8:09
Speaker 1: There's some big names here, the D-Railers.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: So how does that work?
• 8:15
Speaker 1: I mean, is it you got different talent every day?
• 8:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, we got three nights of shows, so Friday night, saturday night and Sunday night.
• 8:24
Speaker 5: So Friday night is going to be Jake Penrod and if you all haven't heard of him yet, he's opening for Charlie Crockett a lot now, but Jake's one of those guys that's new and up and coming.
• 8:34
Speaker 5: I highly recommend you check him out.
• 8:36
Speaker 5: And then you got Dale Watson, who we love.
• 8:38
Speaker 5: Dale's, you know, king of the honky-tonk.
• 8:41
Speaker 5: And then we got the wilder blue, who is as close to the eagles as I've heard ever, I mean.
• 8:47
Speaker 5: And they've got some great original music.
• 8:49
Speaker 5: If you haven't heard them, check them out.
• 8:50
Speaker 5: And then saturday saturday we got the auction all day.
• 8:53
Speaker 5: As soon as the auction's over, we're going to have jake penrod play a second set.
• 8:57
Speaker 5: And then we got gary p nunn and william beckman, and william beckman is on a rocket.
• 9:02
Speaker 5: If you haven't checked him out, he's a great songwriter.
• 9:04
Speaker 5: He's in country, but the guy sings Spanish.
• 9:07
  Speaker 5: He sings.
• 9:13
Speaker 5: He's almost like a Harry Connick Jr if he grew up on the border, and then Sunday we've got, you know, a whole run of people.
• 9:18
Speaker 5: We got Pauline Reese, we got the Derailers, we got Cat Hasty, who is a new and up-and-comer, and then we've got Silverada and Corey Morrow.
• 9:27
Speaker 5: So I mean that's a solid lineup for everybody.
• 9:30
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 9:31
Speaker 1: All right, so can I buy a three-day ticket.
• 9:34
Speaker 5: Yes, three-day tickets are the easiest and here's the good part If you register to bid at the auction, it's a $100 bidder registration fee, but it comes with a three-day general admission pass to all the concerts Wow, so that's the cheapest way to see everything.
• 9:47
Speaker 5: We want everybody to come in there and have a good time.
• 9:49
Speaker 5: We're going to give away a ton of these tickets to first responders.
• 9:52
Speaker 5: We're giving away tickets to families, anybody that was affected by this.
• 9:57
  Speaker 5: It's a huge venue.
• 9:59
Speaker 5: Obviously, we want to sell the tickets, because 100% of the tickets sold and we're selling through the Easel program Every ticket sold through Easel.
• 10:07
  Speaker 5: I'm donating 100% of that.
• 10:09
  Speaker 2: What is Easel?
• 10:10
Speaker 5: Easel is a platform that we use.
• 10:13
Speaker 5: It's a ticket selling platform that they do with the bigger music festivals.
• 10:17
Speaker 5: Use it so when we do these big fundraisers, but easel is the platform that everyone you buy, it all goes through them so at the end I'm going to take 100 of that tally and donate it.
• 10:28
Speaker 5: And there's a local uh, there's a judge there, local that has kind of been the head of the, the, the search and rescue and kind of coordinate and everything, and he lost his son in the flood.
• 10:39
Speaker 5: So I'm actually going to go to him and say, hey, where does this need to go?
• 10:43
Speaker 5: And I'm going to let them pick where it goes.
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: Very nice.
• 10:46
Speaker 5: And we're going to cut a check to whatever local charity, because there's a ton of money going in there but there's still gaps in there.
• 10:53
Speaker 5: So I'm taking this one.
• 10:55
Speaker 5: It's not going to be, this is just my little event.
• 10:58
Speaker 5: So I'm taking this one.
• 10:59
Speaker 5: It's not going to be, this is just my little event.
• 11:01
Speaker 5: We're doing another event after this that I have not even announced yet, that will raise several million that I've teamed up with the Alamo to do.
• 11:04
Speaker 3: Hey, Rob, since you want everybody to visit the island, are the hotels giving any kind of special offers for folks that want to stay on the weekend?
• 11:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, moody Gardens is actually a great partner in this and they've actually got it pretty well.
• 11:17
Speaker 5: If you want to come stay, they've got hotel room packages that include passes to these events.
• 11:22
Speaker 5: Now you can upgrade to the vip, where you get right up front and there's a special pass.
• 11:28
Speaker 5: You got to pay a little bit more, you got to go backstage and meet everybody and you get meet and greets with it.
• 11:33
Speaker 5: But moody gardens has they've really got a great setup over there.
• 11:36
Speaker 5: They've got rooms left, but you better get on it because they're going to sell out Saturday night pretty quick.
• 11:41
Speaker 5: Friday night's almost sold out and Sunday there's still some rooms.
• 11:44
Speaker 5: But if you want to get there for all three nights to get that package, I would suggest going to Moody Gardens and booking that right now?
• 11:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's only two weeks away.
• 11:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's Labor Day weekend on top of it, so you've got a three-day weekend.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: Well, it's sort of a captured audience down there too on Labor Day weekend, because you're going to have people going down there for other events.
• 12:00
  Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying Exactly.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: If you want to go to Galveston for the three-day weekend, you might as well there you go, because that's a nice place.
• 12:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, and we're also about to run a bunch of radio ads there in Houston, so it's it out to all of the guys that were going to be buying the cars and stuff and bidding first, because that was what this was originally for.
• 12:22
Speaker 1: Well, you know we have some time available on the In Wheel Time Show, but you can buy some spots.
• 12:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, I'm interested.
• 12:28
  Speaker 5: Let's talk, okay.
• 12:30
Speaker 3: Hey, you're an auctioneer, so before we leave this segment, can you auction us out of here?
• 12:33
Speaker 3: Can you auction us off?
• 12:35
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 12:35
Speaker 5: What auction us off?
• 12:36
Speaker 3: All right what do you want me to sell?
• 12:37
  Speaker 3: I don't know if we're done yet, I don't know.
• 12:39
  Speaker 3: Let's see.
• 12:39
Speaker 1: I've got a 2001 Corvette with 35,000 miles on it, black on black stock and we've got an old-timer sitting next to me.
• 12:49
Speaker 5: You can auction him off too.
• 12:50
Speaker 5: All right, well, are we done with the segment?
• 12:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to go come on here and talk about this.
• 12:57

• 17:17
Speaker 1: Six cool American car names.
• 17:20
Speaker 1: The names exist, but the cars certainly don't Right.
• 17:23
Speaker 3: Well, this is what we got, these American car names.
• 17:25
Speaker 3: A pivotal part of any vehicle is, of course, its name.
• 17:28
Speaker 3: Names that can make or break a model.
• 17:31
Speaker 3: Go ahead, mike Carry.
• 17:33
Speaker 3: As much weight as the engine, the drivetrain configuration and also the looks.
• 17:36
Speaker 3: The first one we have here is a mercury marauder, first introduced in 1963, the sinister one of the of these combined muscle cars menace from the ford motor company, the mercury marauder, originally intended as a sub model in the three sized mercury model align, it became a standalone model in 1966 and acquired its name from a series of v8 engines that the company first unveiled in 1958.
• 18:01
Speaker 3: A Marauder is essentially a pirate, an unsavory individual who steals and plunders, sort of like us.
• 18:07
Speaker 3: It was a perfect name of performance model aimed to dominate the drag strip.
• 18:11
Speaker 3: So there you go, that's a good-looking car there.
• 18:14
Speaker 3: The next one we have here is a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, introduced in 1969.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: The Trans Am came to define a performance icon, one loved over generations for its styling and performance.
• 18:29
Speaker 3: Like many of the models on this list, it's conceived during the pony and muscle car glory years of the 60s, before coming into its own in the 70s.
• 18:38
Speaker 3: The name literally comes from a mythological bird, bright orange in color, commonly seen on fire in the media and in folklore, so that's where that name comes from.
• 18:49
Speaker 3: Next one is a plymouth barracuda mike.
• 18:51
Speaker 3: In 1969 it was introduced.
• 18:52
Speaker 3: Watch your vehicle to be a winner.
• 18:54
Speaker 3: Name it after one of the ocean's most iconic predators, the Barracuda.
• 18:59
Speaker 3: When it was an open secret that Ford was designing the car this would become the Mustang, plymouth decided to get in the action and created a sporty car based on the Valiant and its compact dubbed the Barracuda the first two of a sporty car based on the Valiant.
• 19:15
Speaker 3: The generations were fine.
• 19:17
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, they were fine cars, but the third that showed the Barracuda could do when it was bare as teeth.
• 19:22
Speaker 3: Sharing the e-body platform of the Dodge Challenger, the Barracuda was a smidgen smaller but featured a unique styling to separate it.
• 19:30
Speaker 3: Next one, michael, is a Mercury Cougar.
• 19:32
Speaker 3: I like this car.
• 19:33
Speaker 3: I wish I had one back in the day when I had my Nova.
• 19:35
Speaker 3: I wish I had one back in the day when I had my Nova.
• 19:36
Speaker 3: This was introduced in 69.
• 19:38
Speaker 1: A friend of mine had one of these and you know everybody thinks that that is an absolute remake of the Ford Mustang.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: It is not no, it's not no, it was actually designed similar to it, but it wasn't.
• 19:50
Speaker 3: It actually wasn't as many enthusiasts, many enthusiasts, what their favorite car name was all time the Mercury Cougar Eliminator.
• 19:59
Speaker 3: Everything about the name is awesome, starting with the Mercury brand name, which is a great starting point.
• 20:04
Speaker 3: Adding the Cougar to the lineup was a great choice because it gave the brand an attractive cousin to the Ford Mustang.
• 20:11
Speaker 3: It was only a cousin.
• 20:12
Speaker 3: Then, of course, tracking the Eliminator in 1969 to donate the high-performance variant really took it over the edge.
• 20:17
Speaker 3: It's Cougar Eliminator in 1969 to donate the high-performance variant Really took it over the edge.
• 20:19
Speaker 3: It's Cougar Eliminate the Competition.
• 20:21
Speaker 3: So there you go.
• 20:22
Speaker 1: Was it the XLR?
• 20:24
Speaker 1: Yes, was that one of them?
• 20:25
  Speaker 1: Cougar XLR.
• 20:27
Speaker 3: That was the fancy, high-end version of it.
• 20:30
Speaker 3: Right, the Eagle Talon.
• 20:31
Speaker 3: You wouldn't figure this one would be one, but in 1990.
• 20:34
Speaker 1: I remember going to the car show.
• 20:35
Speaker 1: I remember going to the car show and that was the first time I saw that we went.
• 20:38
Speaker 1: Wow, that really looks cool.
• 20:41
Speaker 3: The first couple of generations of the Mitsubishi Eclipse put the car on the tuner map, but not everyone knows it was also sold under a joint Chrysler-Mitsubishi partnership under the Eagle and Plymouth brands.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: While the Plymouth Laser name is also pretty sweet, the Eagle Talon just fits too well.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: It's the perfect description of a car with performance.
• 21:01
  Speaker 3: Though two generations.
• 21:03
Speaker 3: The car looked and sounded awesome when it optioned for the TSI trim with optional all-wheel drive.
• 21:09
  Speaker 3: That's great stuff.
• 21:10
Speaker 3: The last one, not my favorite, but here you go.
• 21:12
Speaker 3: It's introduced in 1997 as the Plymouth Prowler.
• 21:15
Speaker 3: I think you drove one, didn't you Don I?
• 21:17
Speaker 1: did when it first came out.
• 21:19
Speaker 1: My dad loved that car.
• 21:20
Speaker 3: This Prowler is easily one of the most controversial American cars ever made a hot rod for then modern age.
• 21:26
Speaker 3: It had styling inspired by classic hot rods of the 30s and when the concept car was unveiled in 1993, the world immediately fell in love with it.
• 21:36
Speaker 3: However, as we all likely know, the result was a vehicle that left a lot to be desired.
• 21:41
Speaker 3: The design was tamed, ugly bumpers were added and the hope of real performance was squashed when they put an automatic V6 in the vehicle.
• 21:49
  Speaker 1: Just awful.
• 21:50
Speaker 1: And you know, the funny thing about that was the car looked so good.
• 21:54
Speaker 1: The interior even was really cool.
• 21:56
Speaker 1: The problem was with the out of top on it.
• 21:59
Speaker 1: The body flex on that thing.
• 22:01
Speaker 1: You just take off from a stop sign, not even fast, yeah, and you could feel the twisting body.
• 22:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, and that V6 engine.
• 22:08
Speaker 1: It was so lame and all I could think of is the Chevrolet SSR.
• 22:14
  Speaker 4: Remember that thing.
• 22:15
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 22:15
  Speaker 2: Looked really cool.
• 22:16
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 22:22
Speaker 4: What a weak, weak, limp piece of yeah and there was, and there wasn't even enough bones there to to hop up like the v6 on this.
• 22:26
  Speaker 4: It really wasn't.
• 22:26
Speaker 1: Don't forget the top and that bizarre top that did all this manipulation and folding and everything, and they went back behind the back seats and you couldn't open the back trunk well, which would have been the bed right, because the lid on it wouldn't open far enough.
• 22:42
Speaker 1: What was the purpose of that?
• 22:44
  Speaker 1: I?
• 22:44
  Speaker 4: know it.
• 22:45
Speaker 4: There was just a lot of things who said yeah, let's build that.
• 22:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, no yeah, sometimes it's like it looks like the car comes from the engineers without any input from the marketing guys that really are going to sell it I think during the meeting I said we need something different, we need something over the top, off the edge, and that's what they came up with.
• 23:04
Speaker 1: My opinion, you know I talked to a chevrolet guy about that and he said you know, we spent a lot of money on stamping those fenders because we hadn't used that technology since the 1950s.
• 23:17
Speaker 1: If you, the fenders were very round, yeah, big, bulbous fenders, almost like the rear fender of a motorcycle.
• 23:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and you know, we were talking about the Firebird a minute ago.
• 23:28
Speaker 1: I was talking to Bill Seitz this week, bill Seitz, longtime friend of mine, and we were talking about old school cars, longtime friend of mine, and we were talking about old school cars and Bill Seitz ashamedly had a.
• 23:45
  Speaker 1: Sunbird.
• 23:46
Speaker 1: Do you remember the Pontiac Sunbird oh?
• 23:51
Speaker 3: Was it his or his wife?
• 23:53
Speaker 1: Well, both of them.
• 23:54
  Speaker 2: Either way.
• 23:57
Speaker 1: Because they had two Corvettes and they needed a daily driver's, so they bought the Sunbird, sort of similarly shaped kind of.
• 24:02
Speaker 1: No, no, it was not.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: It was what we like to refer to in the business as a turd.
• 24:07
  Speaker 1: Oh.
• 24:08
  Speaker 4: An opus.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: And it had a four-speed manual transmission and a not weak but a watery four-cylinder engine in it.
• 24:20
Speaker 1: I don't even know how it got up to 60 miles an hour.
• 24:23
Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, pontiac Sunbird.
• 24:26
Speaker 1: All right, it's Mr Marr's turn.
• 24:30
Speaker 1: All right For driving destinations, and let's talk about Labor Day getaways.
• 24:35
Speaker 4: Yep, labor Day is coming up.
• 24:36
Speaker 4: It's going to be a little bit more time off.
• 24:38

• 24:45
Speaker 4: Look at a few different things such as Jefferson, texas.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: Now this is tucked away in the East Texas Piney Woods.
• 24:48
Speaker 4: It's got a Victorian charm and it's got a lot of history that goes with it, with antique shops.
• 24:53
Speaker 4: There's a scenic boat tour of Caddo Lake's mysterious bios, which I didn't even know.
• 24:58
Speaker 4: It was close to Caddo Lake.
• 24:59
Speaker 4: The Jefferson Historical Museum has ghost tours and the whole Labor Day weekend they bring a lot of peaceful atmosphere from big crowds.
• 25:08
Speaker 4: It's perfect for a slow-paced holiday that you want to get away, if you want to go a little bit further west to get a little more adventurous.
• 25:16
Speaker 4: Marfa, marfa Texas blends in Marfa.
• 25:18
  Speaker 4: Lights.
• 25:18
  Speaker 4: Exactly Marfa.
• 25:20
Speaker 4: That's a minimalist art in West Texas, desert beauty and really if you look at it they've got world-famous art installations.
• 25:27
Speaker 4: It's amazing that it's out there like the Prada Marfa store.
• 25:31
Speaker 4: They've got scenic drives through the Davis Mountains you can do.
• 25:35
Speaker 4: They've got hot springs, they've got the Marfa Lights and there's a lot of quirky character there and it's out in the middle of no place.
• 25:43
Speaker 4: So a great Labor Day weekend if you're looking for something a little different.
• 25:48
Speaker 4: Palacios down south is known as the shrimp capital of Texas.
• 25:51
Speaker 4: Otherwise it's a quiet coastal town, a Matagorda Bay.
• 25:54
Speaker 4: You can go fishing, kayaking, birdwatching along the waterfront.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: You can also go to bay.
• 25:58

• 25:59

• 26:01
  Speaker 1: Amsterdam.
• 26:01
Speaker 1: Yeah See, it's right on that boat.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: Oh well, that's true, I didn't pay attention to that you get knocked on the door.
• 26:06
Speaker 1: It says Amsterdam on it, you got shrimp down there.
• 26:09
Speaker 3: You got boiled shrimp.
• 26:09

• 26:19
Speaker 4: Well, we're going to go back out west, out to Fort Davis, and I've actually been to Fort Davis and it's way out west mountain scenery, got lots of cool nights, a lot of old west history and again, this is out in the middle of no place and it was a real fort that they used in the early days.
• 26:35
Speaker 4: You can go hiking in the Davis Mountains scenic drives.
• 26:39
Speaker 4: The McDonald Observatory is around there, but if you really want to go there and do stargazing you've got to make reservations about a year, year and a half in advance.
• 26:46
Speaker 4: Really it's really high elevation so it's a lot cooler during Labor Day weekend Also out there.

• 27:34
Speaker 4: Now, this is a former mining ghost town.
• 27:37
Speaker 4: I've been there down in the Big Bend, a lot of rugged beauty and stuff down in there and, of course, the famous Terralingua chili cook-off.
• 27:46
  Speaker 4: I think it's called.
• 27:47
Speaker 1: Terlingua Terlingua, not Terralingua.
• 27:48
