- 0:01Speaker 1: Before we begin this episode, we want to take a
- 0:04Speaker 1: moment to say that our thoughts are with the two
- 0:06Speaker 1: riders involved in that horrible accident during the sighting lap
- 0:09Speaker 1: of the Malaysia Grand Prix less than two weeks ago.
- 0:13Speaker 1: There has been positive news from both camps, with Noah
- 0:15Speaker 1: Dettwiler now stable and no longer critical and championship winner
- 0:20Speaker 1: Jose Antonio Ruwaider is returning to Spain for surgery. Motorcycling
- 0:25Speaker 1: is dangerous, and this is a sark reminder that every
- 0:28Speaker 1: time these riders are lining up for our entertainment, they're
- 0:31Speaker 1: putting everything on the line for the.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Sport that we love. With that in mind, we move
- 0:36Speaker 2: on to this week's show.
- 0:37Speaker 1: This episode of Pittook is sponsored by Shannon's Insurance. Joining me,
- 0:41Speaker 1: Rinita Vermuelin is a Fox Sports Moto GP editor. Matt
- 0:44Speaker 1: Clayton Matt, no fancy intros, no jokes this time, because
- 0:48Speaker 1: we have got so much to catch up on. We
- 0:50Speaker 1: were just saying we haven't done a pod since before
- 0:53Speaker 1: Philip Island, which feels like ages ago now, but the
- 0:56Speaker 1: fact that they're heading to the penultment round in Moto
- 0:59Speaker 1: GP in autermal and it's the one circuit where we
- 1:02Speaker 1: see motor GP bikes actually get air on track.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I love this place really. Thank you first for
- 1:08Speaker 3: the intro. I thought that was I completely co sign
- 1:11Speaker 3: everything else you said there. And horrible, horrible incident. We're
- 1:15Speaker 3: so fortunate that there was nothing worse. And it's not
- 1:18Speaker 3: to downplay the injuries that both det Weiler and Jose
- 1:21Speaker 3: Antonio away To had, but we're very thankful that both
- 1:23Speaker 3: of them are on the road to recovery. And yeah,
- 1:26Speaker 3: that reminder if we need it, that modus board is
- 1:29Speaker 3: dangerous and these guys are doing this for our entertainment.
- 1:31Speaker 3: But getting back to yeah, I mean, look, there's been
- 1:33Speaker 3: a fair bit that's happened. Obviously, Australia came and went
- 1:36Speaker 3: and the last round of the Flyaways with Malaysia and
- 1:39Speaker 3: here we are back in Europe for these final two rounds.
- 1:42Speaker 3: A lot of the big prizes have been ticked off
- 1:44Speaker 3: as we know. One thing that's not going to be
- 1:46Speaker 3: ticked off this weekend is sleep for Australian fans because Portugal,
- 1:50Speaker 3: for the uninitiated, is on GMT British time, So just
- 1:54Speaker 3: a little more of a kick where you don't need
- 1:56Speaker 3: it with the timeframe for this weekend, but we've got
- 1:58Speaker 3: an absolutely fantastic race track and I was talking to
- 2:01Speaker 3: someone earlier today that I'm not sure this is the
- 2:03Speaker 3: best racetrack in MotoGP. I still think that's either Philipylon
- 2:06Speaker 3: or Magello, depending on my mood on a daily basis,
- 2:08Speaker 3: but it's certainly the most interesting because seeing motor GP
- 2:12Speaker 3: bikes get airborne in twenty twenty five is pretty crazy.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Oh, it's so cool.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I posted on the Fox Sports socials a throwback to
- 2:20Speaker 1: Jack Miller and they said Chill Airtime or Miller Airlines.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I can't remember the tag, but it was.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's very, very cool, and I love the fact that
- 2:28Speaker 1: you can tell the riders who do motocross in the
- 2:31Speaker 1: off season or in their spare time, because they really
- 2:34Speaker 1: have fun with this circuit. But I just want to
- 2:37Speaker 1: touch on the fact you said the schedule there. I
- 2:38Speaker 1: did have a quick look at that, and I just
- 2:40Speaker 1: wanted to let our listeners know it is a change
- 2:43Speaker 1: schedule this weekend, so it will be Sunday's a sprint.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Sorry, Saturdays sprint is.
- 2:50Speaker 1: On at the normal time, I believe, but for Sunday,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the schedule has changed. It's actually starting with Moto two,
- 2:57Speaker 1: then it goes to Moto GP and then the Motor
- 3:00Speaker 1: three race.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And I'm assuming they've done that.
- 3:02Speaker 1: To keep in line with the European timeline for viewers
- 3:05Speaker 1: tuning into the Motor GP race.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I'd love to think they were doing it for us
- 3:09Speaker 3: here in Australia Renata, but I don't really think that
- 3:11Speaker 3: was a primary consideration. But given the time of night,
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'll take a midnight Motor GP race start from a
- 3:16Speaker 3: two am Motor GP race start anytime. And we've got
- 3:19Speaker 3: two am for the sprint, so that's a bit grim
- 3:20Speaker 3: but it's all going to be made up for by
- 3:23Speaker 3: a super super cool racetrack. And you know, it's one
- 3:26Speaker 3: of those things that TV any circuit you've been to,
- 3:29Speaker 3: you know how this works. TV tends to flatten out
- 3:31Speaker 3: elevation and so if you see a track on TV
- 3:34Speaker 3: that looks as steep as portermow Is, and then you
- 3:37Speaker 3: think that looks step on TV, you can only imagine
- 3:39Speaker 3: what it's like for the riders when they're on these bikes.
- 3:42Speaker 3: And I did have a look at some track map
- 3:44Speaker 3: stats yesterday. I think that's between ten eleven and twelve
- 3:47Speaker 3: sixteen meter drop. That is serious, serious compression into the
- 3:53Speaker 3: bottom of that quarter. The bikes look amazing as they
- 3:55Speaker 3: all fan out down the hill, which I'm doing with
- 3:57Speaker 3: my hand, which is useless on an audio podcast, I realized.
- 4:00Speaker 3: But I do love the elevation change at this track,
- 4:02Speaker 3: and there are some pretty gnarly quarters, including the first
- 4:05Speaker 3: one quite frankly, and we was good, good racing here,
- 4:07Speaker 3: don't we?
- 4:08Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mean looking back previously, we've had Miguel
- 4:11Speaker 1: Lavera one here in twenty twenty, I believe, and it's
- 4:15Speaker 1: obviously his last home Grand Prix as well, so that's
- 4:18Speaker 1: going to be important for the Portugal writer. But Cordero's
- 4:21Speaker 1: won here twice before Banyaya won. Last year, our winner
- 4:24Speaker 1: was Joorge Martin. So Mark Marquez also isn't here, and
- 4:28Speaker 1: I believe this is one of the circuits he's also
- 4:30Speaker 1: never won at as well, so he's not ticking that
- 4:33Speaker 1: off this weekend. But that question that we keep asking
- 4:36Speaker 1: is who's it going to be now that Mark's out,
- 4:38Speaker 1: Martine's out, who is going to be? Can Pecco step
- 4:42Speaker 1: up or is this going to be Pedro Acosta's first
- 4:44Speaker 1: victory this weekend?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned Acosta because it kind of
- 4:48Speaker 3: feels that one of the weird parts about this flyaway
- 4:51Speaker 3: part of the season that we've just been through is
- 4:53Speaker 3: that we had Fermineldegeer winner race for the first time.
- 4:57Speaker 3: We had Ralph Fernandez winner race for the first time,
- 5:00Speaker 3: and it's crazy to think that he's Eighteen of the
- 5:02Speaker 3: twenty two regulars in Moto GP now have won a
- 5:05Speaker 3: Premier class Grand Prix. We have never had a more
- 5:07Speaker 3: successful greed in the history of the World Championship. To
- 5:10Speaker 3: think there's only four riders of the current full timers
- 5:12Speaker 3: that haven't won a race, and one of those is
- 5:14Speaker 3: Pedro Acosta. You never would have believed in a million
- 5:17Speaker 3: years that of all the Spaniards in the Championship that
- 5:19Speaker 3: Aldegera Fernandez would have won a Grand Prix before a Costa.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So it feels that a Costa's kind of due and
- 5:25Speaker 3: he's been there or thereabouts. He's clearly taken that KATM
- 5:28Speaker 3: to a completely different level relative to the other guys
- 5:32Speaker 3: on the same bike. Maybe not sort of Quataterero Yamaha
- 5:35Speaker 3: esque dominance over the other riders in that brand, but
- 5:38Speaker 3: a cost has been awesome in the back half of
- 5:40Speaker 3: this year, we are hearing a few rumblings that katm
- 5:43Speaker 3: are going through a little bit of downsizing and restructuring
- 5:46Speaker 3: and things again, So that makes me slightly nervous on
- 5:48Speaker 3: what we might be coming down the pipe for next year.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But it would feel right if he was to win
- 5:53Speaker 3: one of these last couple of rounds before this year,
- 5:55Speaker 3: because he's clearly been very, very good. Didn't get off
- 5:57Speaker 3: to a great start, but he's there or thereabouts at
- 5:59Speaker 3: the moment. But that stat, when I read that, you
- 6:01Speaker 3: had to sort of stop and think, oh my goodness,
- 6:03Speaker 3: eighteen of the twenty two regulars and now Premier Class
- 6:06Speaker 3: Grand Prix winners, and that shows you how fine the
- 6:09Speaker 3: margins are these days. You have that one wrong corner
- 6:13Speaker 3: in Q one or even Friday afternoon practice and then
- 6:15Speaker 3: you miss Q two. Then you're fighting through Q one
- 6:19Speaker 3: and you can go. You could be a second row
- 6:21Speaker 3: bike that qualifies on the second last row because it
- 6:23Speaker 3: is so compact right now. The margins have never been finer.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But I like the Acosta call. I think it's it
- 6:29Speaker 3: feels like it's overdue, and I don't know. Look, I
- 6:32Speaker 3: think fermin Aldegare is going to be a very good
- 6:34Speaker 3: Grand Prix. Rid. I would be pretty shocked if ralfren
- 6:37Speaker 3: And has ever won another Grand Prix. Am I allowed
- 6:38Speaker 3: to say that, I just did, but it seems wrong
- 6:42Speaker 3: to me that both those guys won a Premier class
- 6:44Speaker 3: Grand Prix before a Costa did so. Once he breaks
- 6:46Speaker 3: his duck, hopefully there's a few more to follow.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Thinking back, I just nearly like choked on my words
- 6:52Speaker 1: as I was trying to say, because thinking back to
- 6:54Speaker 1: when Pedro was coming up and it was like, he's
- 6:56Speaker 1: the next Mark Marquez, He's going to be wonders and
- 6:59Speaker 1: I think season opener that first year of his Grandfrix
- 7:02Speaker 1: was could.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Tie Ie I'm wrong?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and he was obviously on fire, like fighting for
- 7:09Speaker 1: podium position straight away. We're like, yeah, here he comes,
- 7:11Speaker 1: here he comes, and then all of a sudden, it's
- 7:13Speaker 1: just like out of nowhere.
- 7:14Speaker 2: But when we.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Caught up with him on Fox Sports talking to him
- 7:17Speaker 1: at Philip Island, you know, he even openly said he's like.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I am frustrated, and we were like.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we can see that westing at home watching you
- 7:26Speaker 1: you know. So I think that if he could get
- 7:29Speaker 1: that win this weekend, I think it would also help
- 7:32Speaker 1: him with his mindset of Okay, I can do this
- 7:35Speaker 1: with KTM. I wanted to progress with them and I
- 7:38Speaker 1: can do that win. But man, it's been a long
- 7:40Speaker 1: time coming.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it hasn't. It was sort of weird last year
- 7:43Speaker 3: and that it felt we had that amazing start with
- 7:45Speaker 3: those first three rounds. He's on the podium in Portugal
- 7:48Speaker 3: and also at Kota, and you know, we were talking
- 7:51Speaker 3: about it's the best three races since Mark Marquez's first
- 7:54Speaker 3: three or Jorge Lorenzo's first three. He's in that sort
- 7:56Speaker 3: of company. The season was still good, but you remember
- 8:00Speaker 3: had the pole position at Motigi and dropped the ball
- 8:02Speaker 3: both days in those races, and it kind of felt
- 8:04Speaker 3: like things stalled out a little bit started the season.
- 8:06Speaker 3: We know KTM was struggling a bit financially and there
- 8:08Speaker 3: was some offseason stuff going on with the Wider company,
- 8:11Speaker 3: so parts were slow to arrive for the race team
- 8:13Speaker 3: and what have you. But I look at a Costa
- 8:16Speaker 3: season this year, yes, with what he's done. Have a
- 8:19Speaker 3: look at where Brad Binder is and as his teammate,
- 8:22Speaker 3: and that's the interesting one for me. Binda's just been
- 8:24Speaker 3: this ever present sort of top five, Top six guy
- 8:27Speaker 3: for the past three years clearly been KTM's best rider.
- 8:31Speaker 3: A Costas just quite frankly wiped the floor with Brad
- 8:33Speaker 3: Binder and the stat that makes anyone listening in South
- 8:36Speaker 3: Africa Grimace twenty to zero in qualifying for a Costa.
- 8:40Speaker 3: That is brutal. And we know that Brad Binder's not
- 8:43Speaker 3: an amazing one lap rider. He's a better race of
- 8:44Speaker 3: the year. Is a qualifier. But I would not have
- 8:47Speaker 3: picked that at the start of the season. I look
- 8:48Speaker 3: about you, but definitely not on my account.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Speaking of picking things at our Bengo card for twenty
- 8:54Speaker 1: twenty five, let's talk about the battle for third because
- 8:57Speaker 1: obviously Mark Mackayz wrapped that up in Japan last weekend.
- 9:00Speaker 1: In Malaysia, Alex Marquez wrapped up P two, so we
- 9:04Speaker 1: witness history. We've spoken about that before with the Marquees brothers.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But P three.
- 9:08Speaker 1: The battle for P three is dare I say heating
- 9:11Speaker 1: up because we've got Betzeki ahead of Peco Banoya and
- 9:15Speaker 1: then Pedro Acosta who took out twenty points from Peco
- 9:18Speaker 1: in Malaysia. Yeah, I mean I didn't expect to see
- 9:22Speaker 1: an Aprillier. I thought Peko Bana was going to be
- 9:24Speaker 1: fighting with Mark the whole season, but then the fact
- 9:27Speaker 1: of yeah, ben Zeki's up there, and then Pedro Costa
- 9:30Speaker 1: is right there and third, as you said, the strongest
- 9:32Speaker 1: KATM ahead of both the Prodomeina vir forty sixteen ferm.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Now to get that's big for KADM and big for
- 9:40Speaker 1: a Prillier.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Yeah it is. And the thing I like about this
- 9:43Speaker 3: little battle within a battle for third place he is
- 9:45Speaker 3: You've got three different manufacturers in the mix, and I
- 9:48Speaker 3: think whoever ends up finishing third here it says a
- 9:51Speaker 3: lot about all three of them in that you know,
- 9:54Speaker 3: Berzeki's been thrust into this leadership role. I guess at
- 9:57Speaker 3: a Prillier that we weren't really counting on at the
- 9:59Speaker 3: start of the season. Thought he was not going to
- 10:01Speaker 3: be a number two rider, but we certainly thought that
- 10:03Speaker 3: Joje Martin was going to be the leader on track
- 10:05Speaker 3: for that team. That's not happened because of a million injuries.
- 10:07Speaker 3: As we know, Martine's still out this weekend. So Bazeki's
- 10:10Speaker 3: gone back to being maybe a better version of twenty
- 10:13Speaker 3: twenty three Berzeki that we saw when he first emerged
- 10:16Speaker 3: as a race winner. Banyai is just this. There comes
- 10:19Speaker 3: a point where you can only analyze what Peko is
- 10:21Speaker 3: doing so much. Mine general response to Peco being at
- 10:24Speaker 3: one end of timesheets or the other is to kind
- 10:26Speaker 3: of throw my hands in the air and say, well sure,
- 10:28Speaker 3: because he looked absolutely amazing at times in Malaysia, and
- 10:32Speaker 3: he was absolutely pu trud in Australia. Oh and he
- 10:35Speaker 3: was absolutely awesome in Japan. So if weekend to weekend
- 10:39Speaker 3: you never quite know what you're going to get. I
- 10:41Speaker 3: think the worst thing is I think he never quite
- 10:43Speaker 3: knows what he's going to get either. If he went
- 10:45Speaker 3: out of one sprint in the Grand Prix in Portugal
- 10:47Speaker 3: this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised. If you've qualified on
- 10:49Speaker 3: the back rower finished last, I also wouldn't be surprised.
- 10:52Speaker 3: So he's clearly got the most potential upside. And then
- 10:55Speaker 3: you've got a coster who's just been steadily building over
- 10:57Speaker 3: the back half of this year. But who ever finishes third,
- 11:01Speaker 3: if it's a Prillier, that's an amazing achievement for that team,
- 11:04Speaker 3: considering the guy they spent all the money on hasn't
- 11:06Speaker 3: been there. All year. If it's a coster, then you
- 11:08Speaker 3: could say, well, you know, despite what Casey has been
- 11:11Speaker 3: going through, and the fact that he hasn't whatt a
- 11:12Speaker 3: race yet, he's just been there and there and there,
- 11:15Speaker 3: and to me, like third is almost like a bare
- 11:17Speaker 3: minimum for Manyayra it should be third. He should have
- 11:19Speaker 3: been up there, closer to challenging maybe Alex, not so much. Mark.
- 11:22Speaker 3: The fact that it's got to the point where he's
- 11:24Speaker 3: in a fight for third shows you how tough being
- 11:26Speaker 3: has been for Peco. But there's just been these occasional
- 11:29Speaker 3: reminders that, oh, yeah, Pecovanya is very good and when
- 11:32Speaker 3: things are right, there's not been many of them, but
- 11:34Speaker 3: they're still there. So yeah, I mean, he could come
- 11:37Speaker 3: out and be really really strong on these last two
- 11:39Speaker 3: Grand Prix at least finished the season on the right note.
- 11:41Speaker 3: But I thought I understood what was going on with
- 11:44Speaker 3: Peco for a while, and I'm not afraid to admit
- 11:46Speaker 3: now I'm just completely confused at this point. He's a
- 11:49Speaker 3: guy who just needs to hang his new calenderer for
- 11:51Speaker 3: twenty twenty six and forget that twenty five ever existed,
- 11:53Speaker 3: because it's been the seriously, the weirdest season. For a
- 11:57Speaker 3: guy who's been a multiple world champion, I just didn't
- 12:00Speaker 3: not imagine. So he's not this was possible for a
- 12:02Speaker 3: rider like him. So I'm confused. He's confused, everyone's confused.
- 12:06Speaker 3: But if you're asking me which of the three I
- 12:08Speaker 3: had the most faith in to finish third, I reckon
- 12:10Speaker 3: it's Marco'bozeki. But you might have a different view.
- 12:14Speaker 1: No, Look, to be fair, I think you're kind of
- 12:17Speaker 1: on the money there. And if I just bring up
- 12:19Speaker 1: those points again, so Betzeki is two ninety one and
- 12:23Speaker 1: Banya is two eighty six. Like I said, Pedro took
- 12:25Speaker 1: twenty points out from him last weekend. But thinking back
- 12:30Speaker 1: to the last year at Portomal, Mark Marquez took out
- 12:33Speaker 1: Peco Banyaya.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Do you remember that?
- 12:35Speaker 3: It is?
- 12:36Speaker 1: So I go, I wonder how much that plays on
- 12:39Speaker 1: his mind? Okay, Mark's not here, does he have a
- 12:41Speaker 1: point to prove? But then I also wonder because this
- 12:44Speaker 1: weekend and Valencia, we know that Mark Marquez isn't returning
- 12:47Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty five season and World super Bike
- 12:50Speaker 1: runner up Nicolo Bullaguy is stepping in to ride the
- 12:53Speaker 1: World Championship. Does Mesdici how much is that going to
- 12:58Speaker 1: take that that pressure off Pecko. Study can fight and
- 13:02Speaker 1: he can get his head back into the right place, because,
- 13:05Speaker 1: like you said, you're confused, he's confused, We're all confused, Peco.
- 13:09Speaker 1: What are you going to do this weekend? It can
- 13:11Speaker 1: kind of go both ways.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit, and you know, we have to
- 13:14Speaker 3: caveat what happened in Malaysia by the fact that he
- 13:16Speaker 3: took pole after coming through Q one and was awesome
- 13:18Speaker 3: in the sprint. I was clearly going to finish on
- 13:20Speaker 3: the podium in the Grand Prix were it not for
- 13:22Speaker 3: that puncture. He didn't really have anything for Alex Marquez,
- 13:24Speaker 3: but he probably would have come on late in that
- 13:27Speaker 3: race given he had the more durable tire. He just
- 13:29Speaker 3: got unlucky with the puncture, so you know, the points
- 13:31Speaker 3: that he'd lost. He lost sixteen points probably for third
- 13:34Speaker 3: place that day, So that was unfortunate, but it looked
- 13:37Speaker 3: much more convincing and the whole you know, yeah, he's
- 13:40Speaker 3: really good at Matigi, but that was a weird weekend
- 13:43Speaker 3: Motegi because all eyes are on Mark and it was
- 13:45Speaker 3: all about Mark just scoring the points that he needed
- 13:48Speaker 3: to score the win the championship. So I wasn't even
- 13:50Speaker 3: one hundred percent sure how hard Mark was going that weekend.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Pecko was really good, but he's been good there before,
- 13:56Speaker 3: but that was a bit of a well, there's extenuating
- 13:58Speaker 3: circumstances here at Malaysia. He was just good and so, yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 3: unfortunate with the puncture. Let's see if that carries on.
- 14:04Speaker 3: But yeah, super different track when you think of the
- 14:07Speaker 3: heat and the flowing nature of Sepang and how hard
- 14:11Speaker 3: a couple of those breaking zones are there. But you know,
- 14:13Speaker 3: a real strong point of his Portermow's this kind of
- 14:16Speaker 3: one of one track. But you mentioned before about Mark
- 14:20Speaker 3: and Peco running into each other. The weirdest thing about
- 14:22Speaker 3: Portermow this weekend. It was the second round of last year,
- 14:26Speaker 3: it's the second last round of this year. There's been
- 14:29Speaker 3: thirty eight Grand pre since we were last year. That's
- 14:31Speaker 3: a long long time. You mentioned Mark and Peko running
- 14:34Speaker 3: into each other at Portamow last year. They weren't even
- 14:36Speaker 3: scheduled to be twenty twenty five teammates at that point
- 14:39Speaker 3: because that was before everything got done at Migello mid season.
- 14:42Speaker 3: So it feels like we haven't been to portum Out forever.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Because the season of twenty twenty four was just beginning.
- 14:48Speaker 3: The last timey we were here it was Pedro Acosta's
- 14:50Speaker 3: second Grand Pre weekend. It feels like Pedro's been at
- 14:52Speaker 3: this spot forever now, so it's pretty rare that we
- 14:55Speaker 3: go back to a track. What would that be March
- 14:58Speaker 3: twenty twenty four to November twenty twenty five. I'm just
- 15:00Speaker 3: doing some quick mess here. It's like literally twenty months
- 15:03Speaker 3: between Grand Prix and the same track. It's pretty weird,
- 15:05Speaker 3: isn't it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It does feel weird, and it does feel like we
- 15:08Speaker 1: haven't been to portamow In forever. And same with Valencia
- 15:11Speaker 1: that's coming up as well because of last year. But
- 15:15Speaker 1: you mentioned that I wanted to touch on this. You said,
- 15:17Speaker 1: so for Peco, he's going from a track that kind
- 15:21Speaker 1: of suits him to something that's completely different. And last
- 15:24Speaker 1: weekend we didn't see amazing results from the Aprillias after
- 15:28Speaker 1: they had such a huge weekend in Australia. It makes
- 15:31Speaker 1: me think the reverse and the flip, is this going
- 15:34Speaker 1: to be a track that is going to suit the
- 15:35Speaker 1: Aprelias and in particular Marco Betzeki.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, based on what we've seen this year, this is
- 15:40Speaker 3: much more in a prillier track than Malaysia is. Malaysia's
- 15:43Speaker 3: got a lot of big stops, as we know, and
- 15:45Speaker 3: you know, we saw Bez quite frankly should have won
- 15:48Speaker 3: the sprint and the Grand Prix in Australia. We know
- 15:50Speaker 3: we had the double long lap based on what had
- 15:51Speaker 3: happened in Indonesia, but he was awesome in Australia and
- 15:55Speaker 3: portmow Is it's Portamou's not Philip Island, but it's certainly
- 15:58Speaker 3: closer to Philip Island than it is to spag if
- 16:01Speaker 3: you're going to put circuits to the in the same box,
- 16:03Speaker 3: just because of the flowing nature of the place and
- 16:05Speaker 3: the Aprilia, particularly in his hands at the back half
- 16:08Speaker 3: of this year, has been really good. So it's one
- 16:11Speaker 3: of the great sort of unknowns for this season now
- 16:13Speaker 3: and we'll never know the answer to this, but the
- 16:16Speaker 3: Aprillia is clearly a better bike right than it was
- 16:18Speaker 3: at the start of the season. You do wonder what
- 16:20Speaker 3: a fully fit, motivated, locked in Jorge Martine could have
- 16:23Speaker 3: done on that bike, because there's nothing we've seen in
- 16:26Speaker 3: Mazeki's past that makes me think that he's a writer.
- 16:29Speaker 3: On the same level as the absolute A grade level
- 16:32Speaker 3: of Martine when Martine's really good. I would have loved
- 16:34Speaker 3: to have see Martine on this bike this year because
- 16:36Speaker 3: aprily has been such a big improver this year. And yeah,
- 16:40Speaker 3: maybe a bit of that is because KTM sort of
- 16:42Speaker 3: fallen off a little bit because of the financial troubles
- 16:44Speaker 3: and what have you, and you obviously got Hondre and
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yamaha behind them in a different order to this year.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But man, that Aprili is a better bike than it
- 16:51Speaker 3: was at the start of this year. And it's just
- 16:53Speaker 3: one of those great unknowns that the probably the best
- 16:55Speaker 3: guy on that bike all we year has been sitting
- 16:57Speaker 3: at home watching TV most of the years.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Isn't it wild to think that we haven't seen Joje
- 17:03Speaker 1: Martin like at all this year.
- 17:06Speaker 2: And you look back at that Motor GP.
- 17:08Speaker 1: They post a lot of social content and reposts a
- 17:11Speaker 1: lot of last year's races in the build up to
- 17:13Speaker 1: the current one, and like every race is Martin, Martin,
- 17:16Speaker 1: Martin win, Martin Podium, something like that, and it's the
- 17:19Speaker 1: fact that we haven't actually seen him this season at all.
- 17:22Speaker 3: It's yeah, yeah, he's done of the forty possible starts
- 17:25Speaker 3: he's done thirteen of them, and of course the last
- 17:27Speaker 3: one of those he got to turn one and smashed
- 17:29Speaker 3: into his own teammate, broke his own collar bone at motigue.
- 17:31Speaker 3: But yeah, it is funny to think that you know
- 17:34Speaker 3: a guy who was just so front and center last year.
- 17:36Speaker 3: The thing I kept thinking about when we got to
- 17:38Speaker 3: spang Do you remember how awesome the battle between Martin
- 17:42Speaker 3: and Banyay was in Sepang last year? That was just
- 17:45Speaker 3: absolutely gloves off. It's the best four or five laps
- 17:49Speaker 3: of any Motor GP race I've seen for years because
- 17:52Speaker 3: it was absolutely on between those two. And I've got
- 17:55Speaker 3: a little bit of I've got a little bit nostalgic.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I like feisty, combative Jollgey Martina. I missed him.
- 18:01Speaker 1: No. I remember last year when we did the pod
- 18:04Speaker 1: and I was going, if you're gonna.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Watch one race, watch this race.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I just remember saying that over and over again because
- 18:09Speaker 1: it was phenomenal. It's like how we talk about Moto three,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and I'm hoping that the rules in twenty twenty seven
- 18:14Speaker 1: allow for more of those style battles, but that's for
- 18:18Speaker 1: the future. This weekend is Porter malbo I heard this
- 18:21Speaker 1: fact Matt and I know you're the satman, so I
- 18:23Speaker 1: know you'll probably know this for our listeners. This is
- 18:27Speaker 1: the longest calendar that they've ever had in Moto GP.
- 18:31Speaker 1: In the history of the Grand Prix racing, they've never
- 18:33Speaker 1: broken twenty Grand PRIs and this weekend is the twenty.
- 18:37Speaker 2: First in the season.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So history is going to be made this weekend in
- 18:41Speaker 1: porter Mao.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Sure is. We've never had a season longer than this,
- 18:44Speaker 3: and we know why there's been there. Bruno came back
- 18:47Speaker 3: in this year, Hungary came in for the first time,
- 18:49Speaker 3: and I guess it's a good sign for the health
- 18:51Speaker 3: of the sport where we have so many places that
- 18:53Speaker 3: want to host Grand Prix, a lot of places now
- 18:55Speaker 3: I've got super long contracts. I mean, I'm always one
- 18:59Speaker 3: for more racing. Give it, give us more racing any
- 19:01Speaker 3: day of the week. That's fine. You do wonder though,
- 19:04Speaker 3: because a race weekend is not just a race weekend
- 19:07Speaker 3: as we knew it from the past anymore. You've got
- 19:09Speaker 3: double the amount of starts before because of the sprints, right,
- 19:13Speaker 3: So I mentioned it had been thirty eight rounds since
- 19:15Speaker 3: we last went to Portumour, or if you like, that's
- 19:18Speaker 3: seventy six race starts if you're counting the sprints of
- 19:20Speaker 3: the Grand Prix, so no wonder. It feels like it's
- 19:23Speaker 3: been a long time since we've been a portum our
- 19:25Speaker 3: and we just seem to have weekend after weekend now
- 19:28Speaker 3: where I mean, how many times have we had like
- 19:30Speaker 3: the full grid this year? It really hasn't happened. We
- 19:32Speaker 3: know that Tech three is running Paula Spargo again this
- 19:35Speaker 3: weekend because Maverick Vinalez is trying to make it back
- 19:38Speaker 3: for Valencia for the season finale, which makes sense because
- 19:40Speaker 3: there's the Test, you know, the first day of twenty
- 19:43Speaker 3: twenty six, if you like, the two days after the
- 19:45Speaker 3: Valencia GP. Martine's obviously had as well. Lorenzo Savadori is
- 19:48Speaker 3: still in Martin trying to get back for the last round.
- 19:51Speaker 3: So they're all trying to get back for the last
- 19:53Speaker 3: round because they can then back to back twenty five
- 19:56Speaker 3: bikes with what's coming up for next year at the
- 19:58Speaker 3: Test after that. But it's kind of been a you know,
- 20:01Speaker 3: it's been the walking worded for a lot of this year.
- 20:03Speaker 3: We've had a lot of guys miss racers, which is
- 20:05Speaker 3: a shame. With the longer calendar, and yeah, Mark Marquez's
- 20:08Speaker 3: timing was pretty good because what in Japan And then yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 3: we didn't really see him much after that, did we.
- 20:14Speaker 2: No?
- 20:14Speaker 1: I mean he said really well for that, I know
- 20:16Speaker 1: that's not how he would have wanted his season to end.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And I'm sure this would have been another race that
- 20:20Speaker 1: he wanted to win on Hue next of ones that
- 20:23Speaker 1: he hasn't. But you mentioned they're the tests and one
- 20:26Speaker 1: thing I wanted to talk about and kind of tie
- 20:28Speaker 1: in with an article that you wrote. So we know
- 20:30Speaker 1: in Malaysia the V four was there again with Augusto Fernandez.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and we know that Fabric Cordurro is.
- 20:36Speaker 1: He's very open with his opinions and his thoughts and
- 20:39Speaker 1: the way that they're heading. Now, you wrote a really
- 20:41Speaker 1: interesting article for Fox sports dot Com. Do au Ford
- 20:44Speaker 1: slash Motorsport got to get that link in there, guys.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But you're saying about Fabricrdurao and his decision because we
- 20:51Speaker 1: know that his contractors up at the end of next year.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It can change everything because if he decigns that he
- 20:58Speaker 1: no longer believes in Yamahara what they're promising him, because
- 21:02Speaker 1: in his words, it hasn't been delivered just yet with
- 21:05Speaker 1: this new buik, and it's not going to help him
- 21:07Speaker 1: win championships. He could be knocking on doors and being
- 21:11Speaker 1: a former world champion, and we know he's one of
- 21:13Speaker 1: the aliens that we have on the grid right now.
- 21:16Speaker 1: It could really shake up everything for twenty twenty seven,
- 21:20Speaker 1: not just with the rule regulations but the actual riders
- 21:23Speaker 1: and the manufacturers.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is where this becomes so interesting. So
- 21:27Speaker 3: for next season, I mean next season is kind of
- 21:30Speaker 3: a bit of a holding pattern before twenty twenty seven,
- 21:33Speaker 3: and there's only four riders on the twenty twenty six
- 21:36Speaker 3: grid that have contracts that go into twenty twenty seven.
- 21:39Speaker 3: So you've got this bizarre set of circumstances where eighteen
- 21:42Speaker 3: of the twenty two riders are out of contract at
- 21:44Speaker 3: the end of next year and the sport's effectively going
- 21:47Speaker 3: into this heartbur set for twenty twenty seven. So all
- 21:50Speaker 3: of these riders are trying to almost like see the
- 21:52Speaker 3: future that at a crystal ball here it's like, where
- 21:55Speaker 3: do I want to be in twenty twenty seven, because
- 21:57Speaker 3: we've got this clean sheet of paper and I always
- 22:00Speaker 3: look back at you know, I go to four wheel
- 22:02Speaker 3: analogies here because I've spent so much time working in
- 22:04Speaker 3: Formula one. The one that's pertinent to me is Lewis
- 22:08Speaker 3: Hamilton left McLaren to go to Mercedes in twenty thirteen,
- 22:12Speaker 3: which at the time seemed like absolute stupidity because Mercedes
- 22:15Speaker 3: had done absolutely nothing and he'd been in his whole
- 22:17Speaker 3: career at McLaren and he'd done really, really well. There.
- 22:19Speaker 3: There was a massive rule reset for twenty fourteen, and
- 22:23Speaker 3: once that rule reset hit, McLaren were basically nowhere until
- 22:27Speaker 3: pretty much the last two seasons, and then he won
- 22:30Speaker 3: six titles in seven years with Mercedes, who had won
- 22:32Speaker 3: a thing before he got there. So he used that
- 22:35Speaker 3: free agency. He obviously, you know, he bent on silver
- 22:38Speaker 3: and it came up trumps for him and he had
- 22:40Speaker 3: the power to do that as probably the best guy
- 22:42Speaker 3: in the sport at the time. And so this is
- 22:44Speaker 3: where Coaatearero sits for me. There's four other factories in
- 22:47Speaker 3: motor GP. If he picks up the phone and calls
- 22:50Speaker 3: any of those four factories, they're canceling everything and taking
- 22:53Speaker 3: a meeting because he is you know, he's We've said
- 22:56Speaker 3: this before. I think he's the second best rider in
- 22:57Speaker 3: motor GP behind Mark, and he's considerably younger than Mark.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Mark's gonna be thirty three next February, and you do
- 23:04Speaker 3: wonder what there is left for Mark to achieve. And
- 23:06Speaker 3: I get the sense Mark's not going to be a
- 23:08Speaker 3: guy who hangs around until he's forties like Valentino did.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I think Mark's going to be I'll get my titles
- 23:14Speaker 3: and I'll prioritize my health. Maybe I can't see him
- 23:16Speaker 3: hanging around for a massively long time second oldest rider
- 23:19Speaker 3: on the grid. As it is, if you were to
- 23:22Speaker 3: do the let's pick teams out of kids in the
- 23:24Speaker 3: school yard type stuff when you were playing football or
- 23:26Speaker 3: whatever as kids, Quaturro is the guy you want because
- 23:29Speaker 3: he's won a world championship, he's super young, he's probably
- 23:33Speaker 3: in the middle of his prime, and I know the
- 23:36Speaker 3: Amaha has not been particularly good this year, but we've
- 23:38Speaker 3: talked about this offline, like the fact that he's managed
- 23:40Speaker 3: to get five pole positions on a bike that basically
- 23:42Speaker 3: nobody else can ride. There comes a point with him
- 23:45Speaker 3: where you can do all the stats of the analysis
- 23:47Speaker 3: that you're like, or you can just sit on your
- 23:48Speaker 3: couch and laugh. At the ability of a guy to
- 23:51Speaker 3: ring an absolutely absurd lap time out of a bike
- 23:54Speaker 3: that doesn't really have that performance in it. Now he
- 23:56Speaker 3: regresses to the mean of the bike in the race,
- 23:59Speaker 3: because you replicate over twenty five laps what you could
- 24:01Speaker 3: do over one. Even though Yamaha has not been great
- 24:04Speaker 3: this year, to my mind, I reckon he's gone up
- 24:07Speaker 3: in the estimation of who's the best guys on the grid.
- 24:10Speaker 3: So anyone's taking that phone call, and so you're looking
- 24:13Speaker 3: at it from Quaaterero's point of view, he was at
- 24:15Speaker 3: this crossroads a couple of years ago and decided to
- 24:17Speaker 3: stay with Yamahat now they offered him an absolute wheelbarrow
- 24:21Speaker 3: full of money, which was probably nice. That lovely pearl
- 24:23Speaker 3: necklace that he rides around in there, he's probably got
- 24:24Speaker 3: a few of those going on. You could afford a
- 24:26Speaker 3: few of them. He's got some nice sports cars, all
- 24:28Speaker 3: of that. That's all good, but you do wonder he's
- 24:32Speaker 3: been super patient with them, and as he said, it
- 24:35Speaker 3: hasn't been delivered. And the very fact that Yamaha is
- 24:39Speaker 3: even bringing this V four to races and racing it
- 24:43Speaker 3: with Augusto Fernandez, this is not a very Yamaha thing
- 24:46Speaker 3: to do. They don't like bringing things that are a
- 24:48Speaker 3: bit half cooked to the racetrack and run them in
- 24:50Speaker 3: public because there's a very Japanese ethos with the way
- 24:53Speaker 3: they work. You don't tend to put things out on
- 24:56Speaker 3: the racetrack for public scrutiny unless they're completely ready. V
- 24:59Speaker 3: four is not, but Fabio's agitating for it. He clearly
- 25:03Speaker 3: wants some change, and so there comes a question for him,
- 25:07Speaker 3: do I stick with these guys again because I did
- 25:10Speaker 3: it two years ago and it hasn't really worked despite
- 25:12Speaker 3: the fact my bank ballots looks a hell of a
- 25:14Speaker 3: lot better. Or do I jump? And then the question
- 25:17Speaker 3: is if he makes a decision to jump, then where
- 25:20Speaker 3: do you go? Because yeah, Jukati's just been steamrolling everybody
- 25:24Speaker 3: for the last couple of years. But a lot of
- 25:26Speaker 3: the stuff that's made Ducati really good the last few years,
- 25:29Speaker 3: all the aero stuff or the ride height devices, they're
- 25:31Speaker 3: all banned for twenty twenty seven. So probably Ducatti's greatest
- 25:35Speaker 3: strength this is being taken off the table, right, So
- 25:37Speaker 3: that probably brings them back to the field a little bit.
- 25:40Speaker 3: And if you're looking at the other manufacturers, could Apprillier
- 25:43Speaker 3: afford someone like Fabio. Would you want it? Could you
- 25:47Speaker 3: imagine a Quasheurero Juge Martine partnership, My god, that would
- 25:50Speaker 3: be fireworks, and then the other ones And the other
- 25:53Speaker 3: one's Honda, right, Honda's super interesting to me for any rider,
- 25:58Speaker 3: but particularly someone of Fabio's quality. Honda don't have that
- 26:02Speaker 3: a lister right now. You look at all the other manufacturers.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Decadie's got mark Yamaha obviously has Fabia at the moment,
- 26:08Speaker 3: Aprilia with a fully fit Juge Martine, He's there, KTM's
- 26:11Speaker 3: got a Costa. They're the absolute top shelf guys. Honda
- 26:14Speaker 3: doesn't have that guy right now. And given Honda's budget
- 26:20Speaker 3: and their ability to throw so much resource at things,
- 26:24Speaker 3: look at how much better Honda is this year than last.
- 26:27Speaker 3: So much better this year than last. No, they're not
- 26:29Speaker 3: winning anything, but their rate of improvement this year's been massive,
- 26:32Speaker 3: and you can bet that every single rider is looking
- 26:35Speaker 3: at Honda going hmm, okay, someone needs to be brave
- 26:39Speaker 3: here and jump there. But then when do you do it? Like,
- 26:42Speaker 3: do you jump and then you become the guy who
- 26:45Speaker 3: sets it up for the next guy? You know? So
- 26:47Speaker 3: maybe in twenty twenty eight when they're ready to start
- 26:48Speaker 3: winning stuff, or do you get in on the ground
- 26:51Speaker 3: floor here where they're not very good but they've got
- 26:53Speaker 3: pedigree and they might come good in the future aka
- 26:56Speaker 3: Lewis Hamilton mercedes that example that I mentioned before, and
- 26:59Speaker 3: if you get your timing right, that can completely change
- 27:02Speaker 3: the shape of your career. And for Katuro's twenty six,
- 27:05Speaker 3: like he's so young still he's been around for so
- 27:07Speaker 3: long as he came in so early and did so
- 27:09Speaker 3: well so early. Is a big decision for him because
- 27:13Speaker 3: if he's about the success and the results, the money's
- 27:17Speaker 3: been taking care of himself. Everyone knows how good this
- 27:18Speaker 3: guy is, so he's got a super big decision to make.
- 27:22Speaker 3: And to my mind, once he decides what he's doing,
- 27:25Speaker 3: then everyone else reacts to that. To me, he's like
- 27:28Speaker 3: the cook in the bottle. Once he decides what he's
- 27:30Speaker 3: going to do, then there's going to be this huge
- 27:32Speaker 3: domino effect with other pieces scattering around. And he's already
- 27:36Speaker 3: said Quaturo that I need to see something in the
- 27:38Speaker 3: Sapang test next year in February. So that's a message
- 27:42Speaker 3: to yamahas like you guys have got three months to
- 27:44Speaker 3: show me something. Because if I turn up at Sipang
- 27:46Speaker 3: and this V four isn't anywhere near where it needs
- 27:49Speaker 3: to be or has no potential, then I'm clearly going
- 27:52Speaker 3: to start looking elsewhere. So watch this space. And because
- 27:55Speaker 3: I reckon, next year's rider market could go pretty crazy
- 27:57Speaker 3: pretty early, and all depend on what he does.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I think you mentioned that Honda, and the first thing
- 28:04Speaker 1: that I thought of as you were talking about the
- 28:05Speaker 1: Honda and not having the Star Rider and someone jumping
- 28:09Speaker 1: at the bit is Dioga Morrera. Is that what they
- 28:12Speaker 1: think they might see in him? Is he becoming the
- 28:15Speaker 1: star writer?
- 28:16Speaker 3: I reckon. The reason you employ someone like Marrera is
- 28:19Speaker 3: he is he's your educated bet slash guess for maybe
- 28:25Speaker 3: you know, a couple of years beyond that. He's still
- 28:27Speaker 3: so young, right, They've got him on this quite long
- 28:29Speaker 3: leash as far as the contract goes. He's got the
- 28:31Speaker 3: longest contract major gip. Quite frankly, the reason you sign
- 28:34Speaker 3: a guy like that so young, you put a heap
- 28:36Speaker 3: of performance clauses in the contract. So he's going to
- 28:38Speaker 3: be pretty cheap. There's going to be obviously a lot
- 28:40Speaker 3: of bonuses and what have you. If he does well,
- 28:42Speaker 3: but he, to me is the ideal guy to be
- 28:45Speaker 3: the partner of the A lister, whoever that day lister is.
- 28:48Speaker 3: He's almost like the second guy. So there becomes this
- 28:51Speaker 3: like a passing of the torch with these things. If
- 28:54Speaker 3: you flash forward to twenty twenty eight, twenty nine, or
- 28:57Speaker 3: what have you, when Quatrero's approaching his thirties, Marera is
- 29:00Speaker 3: super super young. If he's as good as we think
- 29:03Speaker 3: he might be, then he might be ready to sort
- 29:05Speaker 3: of morph into that team leader type role. I thought
- 29:08Speaker 3: it was a really canny signing by Honda, because you
- 29:11Speaker 3: get a guy who is from a very different part
- 29:13Speaker 3: of the world, is clearly very quick. He might well
- 29:15Speaker 3: come in too Moto GP as the Motor two champion
- 29:17Speaker 3: based on how things work out. But he's young enough
- 29:20Speaker 3: and cheap enough that you could afford to have him there.
- 29:22Speaker 3: He can learn sort of under the radar a little bit,
- 29:24Speaker 3: and then if Honda get their stuff sorted and they
- 29:27Speaker 3: become pretty quite good, then he's an awesome position. But
- 29:30Speaker 3: there's not going to be that much expectation on him
- 29:32Speaker 3: next year or even twenty seven, like he gets so
- 29:34Speaker 3: free swing, but any result he gets next year will
- 29:37Speaker 3: be sort of, Oh that was nice. There's going to
- 29:39Speaker 3: be no real pressure on him. I thought it was
- 29:41Speaker 3: a really really clever signing because he's clearly like the
- 29:45Speaker 3: next guy in that age generation. You get him locked up,
- 29:48Speaker 3: now you've just got to go find the A lister
- 29:49Speaker 3: and there's a few of them out there, and like
- 29:51Speaker 3: I said, all of the A list guys for twenty
- 29:53Speaker 3: seven are all out of contract.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Wow, that's twenty seven. Like has it earlier on that?
- 30:00Speaker 1: I've gone this weekend, Matt, because I mean we could
- 30:01Speaker 1: talk that if buttson wins and I know you've got
- 30:03Speaker 1: some really good articles on that, so do go and
- 30:05Speaker 1: listen to Sorry, go and check those out listeners on
- 30:08Speaker 1: Matt's articles. But this weekend the Portuguese Grand Prix, Matt,
- 30:11Speaker 1: that all important question is who's going to be taking
- 30:15Speaker 1: home the number one plate, Who's going to be standing
- 30:17Speaker 1: on top of that step on the partium this weekend.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I'm going to double down on what I said earlier
- 30:23Speaker 3: in that I think that Marco Pozeki's going to finish
- 30:24Speaker 3: third the World Championship, and I think he's going to
- 30:26Speaker 3: take a big step towards finishing third in the world
- 30:28Speaker 3: championship by winning this weekend. I reckon he wins. He
- 30:31Speaker 3: wins the main race to sprint, wouldn't surprise me if
- 30:33Speaker 3: A Costa won the sprint quite frankly, but I could
- 30:36Speaker 3: see Bazeki Aprilia that combination being pretty awesome around Portermow.
- 30:41Speaker 3: With the obvious caveat that if Peco Banyaya is in
- 30:44Speaker 3: the top three after Friday practice, then you can everything
- 30:46Speaker 3: I just said goes in the bin and then he
- 30:48Speaker 3: probably wins by fifteen seconds or something. Who would know,
- 30:50Speaker 3: But it feels like a bit of a bes weekend.
- 30:53Speaker 3: They've got some nice momentum spank. It's a bit of
- 30:55Speaker 3: a blit. But I don't know are you going to
- 30:57Speaker 3: be are you following me here? Or are going to
- 30:59Speaker 3: get brave go with someone else.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I just have this feeling.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I have this feeling is going to be Pedro a
- 31:05Speaker 1: Costa this weekend. But everything that you said with the
- 31:07Speaker 1: whole pego bagno, it literally depends on the first fifteen
- 31:10Speaker 1: minutes of Friday black.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Like I said, that can all go in the trash.
- 31:13Speaker 2: But I just had this feeling of Pedro Acosta.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I think that he has got the fire and the
- 31:19Speaker 1: determination at the moment, and I think he will be
- 31:22Speaker 1: focused on ticking that box for himself because everybody is
- 31:26Speaker 1: talking now, Okay, he's the writer who hasn't won the
- 31:29Speaker 1: Grand Prix. He's come in wonder Boy and not like
- 31:31Speaker 1: we've spoken about a million times. I think for him
- 31:34Speaker 1: and for himself, he needs to get it done. So
- 31:37Speaker 1: I think he's going to give it a red hot
- 31:39Speaker 1: crack this weekend. But yeah, a lot of listeners, we
- 31:43Speaker 1: could be all wrong and it's Pego Vagnaya who's on fire.
- 31:46Speaker 1: But actually, speaking of Peco, I don't know if you
- 31:47Speaker 1: heard this, Matt. His right eyed device wasn't working in Spain, Yes,
- 31:52Speaker 1: in the.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Spree, and he still wanted it anyway. So maybe just
- 31:55Speaker 3: getting a head start or the new rules for twenty
- 31:57Speaker 3: twenty seven, you just put right height devices on the
- 31:59Speaker 3: bike doesn't work and they did anyway, So maybe let's
- 32:01Speaker 3: say a taste of what's to come.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Maybe it is and maybe that's the secret sauce that
- 32:06Speaker 1: Peco is missing, and we will find out this weekend.
- 32:09Speaker 2: But that is all for our portmal.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And our catch up preview ahead of this weekend. Make
- 32:15Speaker 1: sure you are checking out maths articles on Fox sports
