- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: There's a drag right on the Man of Heaven, the Man of Heaven, the Man of Heaven, amazing.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: He is happy.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: He hits this one hard.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: He hits the Man of Heaven, like Trump.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's right, the Man of Heaven.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: What's up, guys?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: My truck.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, the sports car CEO is current.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: Buff on hand.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_05]: This is really weird to see you on the whole screen just your face as you and I talking but it'll be it'll be fun We're just catching up just me and you baby.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it'll be fun
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: the ham farmer.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's a good day here in the cold wintery southeast of the eastern part of the country.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: I say, well, dude, I don't do winter wealth.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like cold weather.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so this week with a bit of nip in the air, it's been a bit brutal.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to read about the spring time.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_05]: It's about to get worse.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_05]: You see what's coming, right?
- 1:30[SPEAKER_05]: I told you that they're coming in there.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_05]: They're saying now this morning that it's almost 100% certainty that that's
- 1:38[SPEAKER_05]: does not in well.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_05]: Last time we had the ice apocalypse down here in Atlanta, we had a couple of our guys that were going to pick up trucks.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_05]: I think maybe we bought some new trucks just like five years ago, up in like Washington, DC area.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_05]: And there were coming back into Atlanta and that ice storm happened.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_05]: They were stuck on the interstate for like 24 hours.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_05]: They're sleeping.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_05]: One of them was sleeping in the truck and they said they were
- 2:07[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, so we had to go rescue him from the ice storms.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we don't, we don't do well down here.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I joke for people with kids.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: No storm is like a prison sentence because it's like, they go outside for 10 minutes and it's fine.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Coming inside and you're locked in with like,
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: Close upon clothes upon clothes and just anyway.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, hopefully this weekend we survived But good to be back on the show with you buddy and out and in here little Matt's gonna jump in later He got some questions for us, but what do go ahead and do our weekly recap, man?
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'll lead off and then you can finish up.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: First of the year has been just a whirlwind, a lot of wild, you know, the mean things going on.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: We've hired a new producer with early oak insurance group.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I've been in the training process getting somebody off the ground.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: We have somebody else coming in this week that we're looking to hire so on the personal business front, a lot of growth, a lot of expansion and kind of stepping into a new role for me.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: truly CEO role of overseeing, you know, the producers in the sales side of the business.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that's been good.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, of course, in our endeavor with cards, we've been diving in to this new joint venture here where we're buying, you know, all of the inventory together, um, how to big win, you know, this week with a first round of some big sales.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: We put some cards on auction that seem to be doing wells.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, anytime that there's flow, big, big
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: I like, like, flow it.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: So it's good to see some flow going on.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, man, you know, winter is a time.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of weird.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we're kind of, you know, hunkered down, I think it's a season for, you know, reset and rest and just slow in your mind and everything down.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: And we want to run at the first of the year.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: I try to kind of keep myself a little bit centered and then when springtime comes I'm ready to I'm ready to race So that's what's up in our world as far as card thing one last thing.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we I am I'm itching to buy something right now for like PC and I really want it But I have a hard time like I want to buy it in person and it's a goutty Ruth
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like I really want a 33-gowdy roof, but I want to see it before a buy it and all these ones that come up on eBay or fanatics, it's like I'm looking at them in a distance and I'm like I want to touch it, but so I'm like itching to get to a show and we don't have a show for gosh man, probably almost two months, beginning a march and so yeah, I'm gonna get a little bit of FOMO of buying PC cards right now.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_05]: So you want to go like to the mall right now and go shopping.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_05]: You're done with this e-commerce.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_05]: You want to go to the mall.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_05]: You want to you want to touch it and see it look around.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_05]: I get it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_05]: I totally get it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_05]: Well, yeah, it's um, you know, it's it's for us on the card front.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_05]: You said it.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_05]: We, but we have honestly hit the ground running and that's what to me this time of year always signifies.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_05]: is like stockpiling.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_05]: It's like it's like we're squirrels and we're stockpiling nuts over here.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_05]: And, um, you know, what was weird about this fall, then really last fall as well and winter now is stockpiling is it what it used to be, you know, used to be you could go out and you were the squirrel and you're going on the forest and then we're not everywhere.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_05]: Well, now.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_05]: when you when you see one nut you better grab three nuts because it is tough to go and compile and stockpile like it used to be and so that's I think that's the game right now is getting ahead of that and then being able to time kind of when you feel that turn from stockpile to everybody's own it and I think that's genuinely that magic moment usually happens right after the Super Bowl.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_05]: Because you get everybody's attention, the starts to turn from football in basketball is kind of dragging on to it's part of the season and then all of a sudden.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, okay, it's baseball time and that's kind of what happens with my kids too.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_05]: Honestly, it's works like my oldest son's playing basketball right now and he's a baseball guy through and through, but when it becomes basketball season, all of a sudden he's a basketball player and right about now basketball, we got another couple weeks.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_05]: right at all time it ends he becomes a baseball player again and then when baseball seasons over he's a football player again and I think that's kind of what the card market does you know I mean it's got these little periods of time where everybody becomes a fan wants to watch what's going on in that market and baseball has that coming obviously in late march early April but it actually begins even sooner than that and I think that
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's probably three weeks away.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, it's big enough.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: I know this is predominantly a baseball podcast and we talk about Bowman Prime.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Can we talk, Big Matt has a theory here, but I want to hear your take on this, okay?
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: I am the tinfoil hat wearing guy, right?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm promise you, I think the NFL is rigged.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think there are forces at play here, boys and girls, that we can all be naive too.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: And we can think that everybody's just out there having fun and planning a little hearts out.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm sorry.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: There are too many hands in the cookie jar.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: There is too much money being made.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: There is too much in Vegas.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: There is too much on these news media things.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: They love a story and they're going to do anything to put a story forward.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you, when I was watching that game, these games this weekend, I just feel that.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just, you go ahead.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the weird guy.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_05]: I need to get a pair of scissors and cut this tinful hat off a ham real quick.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_05]: For he, for he fries an egg on top of that thing.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, that thing's on fire right now.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_05]: No, I, I think it'd be pretty hard to regularly wear teams like the Browns have been down so long.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_05]: and teams like the Raiders where these owners and people are putting money in because the money share and I mean you've got teams that have been these legacy teams you're in and you're out.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_05]: I just think it makes it really hard to want to in fan bases you know that are pouring money into something so I don't know I just and I think it'd be really really hard to be a player that's coming from college football and you're talking about people that are getting paid millions and millions and millions of dollars and then go hey by the way you're an actor now.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_05]: So I just I feel like honestly it's I'm not going to say that the NFL hasn't had their favorites at times to that they want to see when for their for their own benefit of ratings or whatever, but yeah, I don't think that I don't think I'll say you I'm going to call that one far fetch there.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: Bitch, it's a bit exaggerated.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: My point is, it's like the story line is always the same.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: The bills, the bills can't win at the playoffs.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: The bills, the bills, you know, was it Jim Kelly and what's the other guy that lost for in a row or whatever?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: I just, and then it's like, look, there's Drake May.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, guess who he plays for, the Patriots.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Where did the greatest quarterback ever play for?
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: The Patriots.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: Tom Brady, we need a new Tom Brady out of Drake, May, and Bonesix all poor Bonesix's Flitz broke in.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Drake made it a Super Bowl.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, dude.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching this weekend, and here's what did it in for me.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Final thought we'll move on.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Last night, watching the college football playoff.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: Your Hoosiers and the you.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: The overunder on that game.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: was 48 and a half, 48 and a half.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: They come out in the first quarter and score three points.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: They have 10 and a half time.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: Guess how many total points were scored in the game?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty freaking A, Gary, 48.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: You're telling me that Vegas is that good, that they know to the half of the point of the overunder on a game, I was like, it all of it's fake.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's Fugazzi.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: All of it's Fugazzi.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_05]: Do it doing enough of I don't I'm not a big sports gambler in that sense of like over Unders and lines and stuff like that.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_05]: But I track the line and I can just tell you that yeah That happens sometimes for sure.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_05]: I've seen it before too and be like wow man these guys are impressive And you're just there's times that they're all like 20 points 30 points.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you know There's games where
- 9:55[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, oh, it's a low scoring affair today.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be 39 points.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_05]: And this course 65, you know, and so it's just, you know, I just think in life in sports in general, that's what makes sports so special is that you really don't know what's going to happen any given day and any given season.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it's shout out to Indiana.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad you mentioned that.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_05]: My dad's a huge Indiana fan of grew up in Indiana, born in Indiana.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_05]: He's talking about a team that's been suppressed in a day of college football, where it's a money game.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, these guys are getting these schools that are up there at the top.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, they're spending big, big money.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_05]: And they got big, big donors that are getting them to that point and to go out and see a exact situation of that and see two totally different
- 10:40[SPEAKER_05]: That'll go down as one of the coolest things I think I've ever seen is you've got a game that was changing so much in college football about money and then somebody kind of broke the code.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so it's cool to see and.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they were the team a destiny from the beginning, and they did it, man.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: And they did it.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I love, I love when something goes anti-culture.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we see them.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I think it brings a great point into baseball.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_05]: And what's happening right now, you know, with the Dodgers and the way that they're spending money.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_05]: You see the Kyle Tucker contract.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_05]: You see the boba shit contracts of the world.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_05]: You see these guys just getting stupid, stupid money from these big market teams.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_05]: You know, and I think it's, uh, it brings up a great point.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_05]: You know, they, they, they, they fall tried to control this.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_05]: They tried to put in the luxury tax.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_05]: They tried to say, okay, you, you go out there and you just smash mouth every other team.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to hit you in the pocket.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to do this.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_05]: Well, the reality is they don't care.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_05]: They don't care.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_05]: And the Dodgers are laughing at them.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_05]: The Yankees are laughing at them.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_05]: The metrics are laughing at them.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_05]: These big market teams are just treating the luxury tax like it's part of their business plan.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, they already know the numbers.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_05]: They know and they know what a championship is worth.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_05]: So it's gonna be really interesting this year with the potential lockout that could happen and how that enters in.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_05]: But I think there's something's got to change there.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't know what it is.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not sitting here to pretend that I have all the answers to that, but I just, I think it's gonna be a little bit out of control.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's the same way I feel about college boards and it's it's you seem like there's the big bad wolf that is, you know, you can't compete with that.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: You can't compete with the bankroll of the Dodgers or the Yankees or the Mets or whatever.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so it just, but that's where it's like I love the David and the David and Eli story.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just love it.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: I love that aspect of the David and Eli story the underdog.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, to mean the the runt of the litter, you know, to mean the one that nobody wanted comes out and steps up in their moment.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm I'm all for that.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see who that might be, you know, this year in MLC, that was a cool story last year of the Blue Jace.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I mean, I thought that they were that Cinderella, you know, and you never know, look at the braves, you know, three or four years ago, what a Cinderella that was.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that team had a, you look back at it.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_05]: You know, they had a salaire hit balls into the out of the stadium and you look at those guys now.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Rosario struggling to say in the league, the layers just patting to 20 and hitting 25 home runs and Peterson's kind of struggling to stay in the league too.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_05]: So it's just, you look at those teams.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_05]: It's a lot of times it's just like what we saw with Indiana when a team jails is really cool when a team jails and they have something magic going on that clubhouse that they believe.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_05]: And they believe more than the guys that have all that money flowing in their pockets.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_05]: be cool to see this baseball season.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_05]: I'm ready to see and my big prediction is the daughter will not win it this year.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think it happens.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_05]: I know people are going to go, you're an idiot.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_05]: They've got everything.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_05]: Well, they do.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_05]: But I think it's time.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's time.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_05]: There's something to be said for a hunger to want to win.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's some hungry teams out there so to be interesting to see what happens this year.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: I agree, man.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: I would definitely be
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, then we'll bring a little mat in.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: I had three different kind of topics here.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: One is, I just want to touch briefly on 2025 Bowman.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we had RM on last week and dude, our listeners, our listeners, man, they each eat that up.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: They love, you know, RM and you guys, when you do your deep dive,
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you guys for tuning in to that.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a wealth of information there.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, with somebody like Arm who's seen so much baseball and so many baseball players come through, you know, if you miss that episode, go back and listen to it.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's a deep dive into the 25 Bowman class and prospects.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: But Gary, have you seen any cards coming out of the 25 Bowman product this far?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you kind of called up on any breaks, are you up on it at all?
- 14:35[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I've had a lot of people ask me about that.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_05]: And this is my hot take of it.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just not in it.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not in that release right now at all.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_05]: I've just done that to really protect myself from the standpoint of I just didn't like the way it felt at the beginning at all.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_05]: I just it just none of the name.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure they stood out to me and said, like, I got to have this guy.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_05]: There's some guys that I think are coming to the next release that I've, like, I got to have.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_05]: And this upcoming draft, they're saying it may be one of the best drafts ever.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that's hard to believe with the draft work just coming off of here last year.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't know.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just not in it right now when it comes to those guys.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_05]: I just think the buys that I'm on right now are the same 10 to 15 guys that I believe in.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that the opportunity for those guys is ahead.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like the best days for a lot of those guys are sitting there and that's I'm glad you brought this up and we can dive into this now Or dive into it later, but and we can dive into this more because it's something I want to hit on my money manager came to me Probably been three years ago and it's stuck with me and he's a tremendously smart guy
- 15:37[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, this guy is really, he's not a day-to-day money manager for anybody else.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_05]: He remanages the trade desk at a large brokerage in this country, and we've known each other for a while, and he manages my money, because I'm like, I want you.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_05]: You're actually know the businesses, you know the stocks, you're going to be the guy to manage my money.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_05]: And he's taught me and tremendous amount, because before him, I was the Matt Hem of
- 16:05[SPEAKER_05]: I would go in and find a name that I liked.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_05]: I would make my quick hit and I would get gone.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, and I think there's a lot to be said that I did very well with that strategy.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_05]: I was in, I didn't ever have a lot of risk because I was in and out.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_05]: Took the game right when I could, I moved on.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_05]: And what he has kind of trained me to do is we still do that and take our opportunities, but he has trained me to say, why give me a reason why we're selling this today?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_05]: What are we gonna go replace it with?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_05]: What are we going to go over here and do with that money?
- 16:35[SPEAKER_05]: Because that money's going to be sitting over here now.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_05]: It's making us nothing for sure if it's sitting on the sidelines.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_05]: What are we going to replace it?
- 16:41[SPEAKER_05]: What's the opportunity cost?
- 16:43[SPEAKER_05]: What's changed in the perspective of what we're looking at?
- 16:46[SPEAKER_05]: And a lot of times it's nothing.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_05]: And then all the sudden he'll go, hey, this has happened something has changed the market has gotten too frothy it has gotten too high or Who we don't like this and when you look at this market right now on some of these guys nothing's changed in my opinion they're prices have gone up a little bit but nothing's changed on their product than their prospects of what they're going to be and I'm talking Griffin I'm talking mechanical I'm talking weatherhole kind of big trio of this this group
- 17:15[SPEAKER_05]: But then you look at the secondary tier.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_05]: You can say the same thing for the secondary tier.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_05]: The guy's that alarm has been talking about.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_05]: Your Quintero's or host, they still are high, high, high, upside guys.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_05]: And so to me, that's where I'm at right now in the card market.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_05]: Why everybody else is kind of looking at the new shiny stuff.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sitting over here going.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_05]: I want to continue to load up on this stuff.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_05]: I really, really want.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's just kind of been my ammo the last couple of years when you look at James Wood when you look at PCA when you look at a lot of these guys that I did well on it's because you have to have some's conviction about what you're actually buying it to me I look at the numbers and say I'm a numbers guy 100% out but you also have to know what the stock is you're buying and what that stocks worth.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_05]: to what it's trading for, and you look at Jacob Wilson, when he went off last year, it was the stock was worth way more than what it was trading for.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_05]: And that's what Conner Griffin was, he never got the initial push out of the box that he should have got for the talent.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_05]: And it's, you know, when we look at a guy like a Bobby Witt, a little mad in our time at last night, you know, Conner's probably trading at 40% of Bobby Witt.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_05]: does he have a hundred percent of that potential?
- 18:25[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think there's any doubt.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_05]: So there's 60% there left on the bone.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_05]: Where does that 60% go in the next 75 to 90 days at the call-up?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to say it goes another half of that bone.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm going to say that he's at a, if he's, there's a hundred percent on the bone and he's at 40 percent of the bone.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_05]: I'm saying he's going to get to 70 percent of the body with values by the time it call-up.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_05]: Then my opinion.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_05]: because he could go higher than Bobby with.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and again, I think it's super valuable.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the topic here is, you know, future value versus current value, right?
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's this idea of what's the potential value here?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: What's the potential return?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: What's the future value versus what do you have right now?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: And again, this is me being like a abundantly transparent on this show.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: I walked away from a six figure income.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: Eight years ago and I lived off of savings and did ministry work for the better part of six or seven years and you know went through a season of life where I didn't really have an income I mean I had a little bit of money coming in if I did a speaking gig or went and preach somewhere or whatever but like it was a life switch for me that put me in an entirely different
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: mindset of how I viewed money and capital and all that kind of stuff because I had this nest egg that I had built up that I was living off of and I was watching it kind of come down and so my tendency is to store up the nest egg and be super cautious with you know exposing myself and so Matthew and I got into cards it was just an easy thing for me to only see the current
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: on your money like let's go next thing 20% next thing honestly here's here's the truth Gary and this is gonna put me out there in front of all of our listeners or whatever I don't have a ton of conviction in players I just don't like I don't like I don't have this thing where I go dude like I'm so convicted and convinced that this guy's this thing to me it's the exaggerated game of fantasy football or an exaggerated game of monopoly
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: And so all I do is insert myself into the game and kind of play along, and I'm able to kind of, now, do I love certain cards?
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, but I like hugely convinced of, you know, that card's value in two, five, 10, 12 years, not necessarily because I tend to be hyper-focused on the current.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so because of that, I miss out on opportunities.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: I miss out on the scale.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, take silver, for example.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I did, do you do any precious metal stuff for you up on the silver trade?
- 20:54[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, I am.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_05]: And that's been going crazy.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely good.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_05]: You sold, and silver.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I bought silver at like 20 bucks and ounce.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I bought, I don't know, five to seven grand, right?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden it goes to 40.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, oh my gosh, I doubled up on silver, like I'm gonna sell half of it.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, then it went to 70.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I sold, you know, the remaining.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sitting here going like,
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: If I had the conviction and truly believed in what people were saying about silver, I would have put 50 grand in silver when it was at 20 and I would have three, four acts.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: I have two.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay now, but I don't have that kind of like that's where I've always struggled because of how my story is kind of unfolded.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: So that's just me personally as to give context to our listeners of where I come from.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I tend to lean on the current value and if we can make a return move on versus what you're saying in future value.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I see both sides, it's just there's this internal wrestling that I go through that finds it really hard to have that conviction to the staying power.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I think it, I think it bulls down to this.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_05]: I think you and I, what's Ham, and I've always said this, it's kind of weird.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_05]: Ham's kind of like my dad.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_05]: He's kind of like, like, we had this, my dad, me and my dad, and I had this business relationship that we started, you know, 20 something years ago.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_05]: And my dad was extremely sharp, but he was extremely, he was just like Ham.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, he was very frugal in, you're just like that.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_05]: But I, and I don't think you're wrong.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_05]: I think that there's the balance that I see as you use your jambles silver.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, and compare that to crypto right now.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_05]: So, crypto's got smashed right so you could have had all the conviction you wanted on crypto, but if you're wrong, but we all look like losers when we're wrong.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_05]: right and so you could have gone with silver and said oh I'm going all in it could have gone the other way and you could have been one holding the bag while I was up you know all that money.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_05]: I think that there's no guarantees in anything right and so I think that the way to play the game when you're running a business is you've got to understand what you're willing to gain and what you're willing to lose at any given time and you've got to understand that equation in your head.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_05]: And you've also got to understand at that moment.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_05]: Like for me, I'm a percentageous guy.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_05]: I like to think, okay, for example, in our current business, I like to think, okay, we've got 80% of our cards that are over here that we could liquidate tomorrow and we would be not have no emotion to them.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_05]: That's some majority of the cards that you and I actually own together right now.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_05]: in little Matt Justin.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_05]: I probably 80, 85% of them.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_05]: I know I really have no opinion on other than, okay, great, we can make 20% like you said, move on.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_05]: But then there comes along these opportunities where you're looking at it and going, man, I just don't understand, and little Matt's really good at that game.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_05]: Where a little Matt is really good is to be able to say,
- 23:44[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_05]: Do you see this?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_05]: Do you see where this car is trading compared to what this over here is trading at?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_05]: To me, that's an opportunity.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_05]: And that's where it's in again, I'm not on here to preach to anybody that, hey, you need to take much risk because I've been saying the opposite for the last year.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_05]: I just think you have to determine what that is.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_05]: Each person's risk tolerance is different and you've got to have open eyes in the card business of that.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_05]: because if you're 100% gunslinger all the time, you're gonna lose money most likely in this game.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_05]: So I think you've gotta have that weighted average.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_05]: I wanted to give a correct percentage to somebody.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_05]: I would say 80 to 90% needs to be your safe money and that 10-to-20 needs to be your gunslinger money.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_05]: Take go for the shots for sure.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_05]: And so that's just my opinion on it.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, no, and I totally, I totally get it.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, because of that, you know, it's interesting, man, like my grandfather was a serial entrepreneur, right?
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: He was a World War II, you know, that pilot.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: And he was a guy who you couldn't put him in a box and you couldn't tell him what to do.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: He did whatever the heck you wanted to do.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, for example, when my uncle was like, I think not or something like that, my grandfather was a pilot, he flew an airplane to Alaska from North Carolina, it's a long way.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: He flew an airplane to Alaska with my uncle, sold the airplane in Alaska, fished for like a month in Alaska, and then used the money to buy a suburban and drove back to North Carolina.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the kind of guy he is, right?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: And so, I mean, his whole life, he was inventing things and making things and all stuff and so, and the southeast gear you'll know this, there's a, there's a, there's a grocery store chain called Food Lion, okay?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: It was started in Sal's Bering, North Carolina where my grandfather lived.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it was started by a very good friend of his.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was called Food Town.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this very good friend of my grandfather came to him and said, hey,
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: Get ready to start a grocery store chain.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to call it food town.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking for some investors.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: My grandfather said, nah, I'm going to go buy a farm.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: So he went and bought this farm in Sal's Berry instead of investing in food town, right?
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: And that's probably one of the reasons I don't have a private jet and could fly down to your farm and see you over.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: over the weekend.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, my grandfather, he always had these kind of hair-brained ideas and stuff.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: And even as 80 years old, he created a developed this device that basically reduced the water flow in toilets, and it called it the float booster.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I was at a college, and I was like helping him sell it right before he passed away.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, my point in saying that is, I had this grandfather who was this super-like risky, like, let's try everything.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: But nothing ever really paned out.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: And he lived a great life or whatever.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: But nothing was the big hit.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean, and just more day to day and routine or whatever, but, you know, it's been good for me to kind of be in relationship with you and this whole environment because it's open me up to say, hey, relax a little bit ham, relax a little bit, you know, take a little bit of risk.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I've had major risks in my life.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: But when it comes specifically to kind of the card market and the financial piece, I just tend to be very by the book, very black and white, you know what I mean?
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: No great areas.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: That said, you know, where you look at your
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: your guys right now, Gary, you look at, you mentioned, you know, squirrel storing up nuts for the winter, how it's hard to find, you know, these types of cards, you know, when you look at McGriff and get McGonagall and whether whole or whatever, like, where do you go, you know, from here?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you try to find it?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I'd love to hear kind of the thought on damn listeners would too.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure on how you think through that process.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_05]: Again, I mean, I just, I've done this long enough to know
- 27:19[SPEAKER_05]: You can take, if you want to take advantage of something, you take advantage of timing.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_05]: It's a given thing in this space.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_05]: It's, it's, are using an example.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_05]: I thought a little amount about it before the, the Patriots game.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, I'm gonna use a football example that relates to baseball because baseball is not at that point yet, that football's that.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_05]: And I saw it last year happen in the playoffs, in baseball.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm gonna use two different examples.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of times you can't see this stuff coming and you got to take a chance if you want to do this and you got to believe number one and the chance you're taking.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_05]: So the first example is Drake may okay I was watching the game and it was pretty clear to me in the second half that they were going to win the game.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_05]: And so I said, I texted little Matt said, hey, you want to come in on some Drake may I'm going to buy him right now and he's like, I don't know.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_05]: I think you might have been said beside you because he was like, no, I don't think I want to.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_05]: I said, yeah, that doesn't sound like little Matt.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, so we're gonna, big Matt saying no to this.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_05]: So I, I went ahead and I bought a bunch of Drake, Maystuff.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_05]: After they win that same night, there were an auctions going later into the night, like 11, 12 o'clock on fanatics.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_05]: That same card that I had bought earlier that night, all of them was now work 20% more by the time I woke up the next morning because
- 28:36[SPEAKER_05]: Reasons the bias and everybody there said, oh, okay.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_05]: Well, if he wins again next game.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to the Super Bowl.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_05]: He's had a tremendous season and the Super Bowl.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_05]: And so the opportunity was, okay, I knew that there was a little bit of risk that could lose second half or some risk they lose at the Broncos, but what is my gain.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, and Drake made and here's the thing, why I like Drake may right now.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_05]: I think Drake made a good quarterback.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_05]: And he's had a tremendous season.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_05]: It's not, I mean, you know, that's, and I think he's got a really good coach that can probably keep him doing this for some time.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_05]: So I felt like the risk was a little less because I like the player.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_05]: They're still risk, but I like the player.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_05]: I like their odds to win with next out for the playoffs.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_05]: I just, I like the formula, right, to take the risk.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_05]: Well, then you look at a guy like Tray, you savage.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_05]: I bought Tray, you savage last year, right before going into the playoffs.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_05]: And I think I remember home, if you remember that on the show,
- 29:28[SPEAKER_05]: I bought some tray or your savage red and orange and started to stockpile and say, hey, I like the way tray you savages pitching.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's value is going to be up in the spring either way because he's hadn't got kind of that hype that he should have gotten for his ability.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_05]: We had guys come on the show and go, who's the best guy you've, or the best picture you've gone against in the monitors and they were saying tray you savage, he wasn't trading like that.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_05]: And then here comes the playoffs and tray a savage.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_05]: Then shows what he's capable of doing.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_05]: Look at his market.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_05]: And so my point is markets are going to show you that people get laser focused on certain times of the of that space on the baseball card space.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_05]: We live it every day so we don't see it, but only a percentage, 20% of the people are on the fray of baseball right now.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_05]: If you went to a card show, 16 to 20% are looking for baseball.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_05]: Max, maybe 10%.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_05]: Most are still flipping football, they're flipping basketball.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_05]: We are the small minority of that.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we're about to be the majority in 30, 60, 90 days.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_05]: Show it, while I'm looking for show hey, I'm looking for judge.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm looking for wit, I'm looking for, you know, what these big name guys, right?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's going to happen.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_05]: And when that happens, it pushes gas to everything.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_05]: And there's foam of going, oh my gosh, look at this Connor Griffin guy.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_05]: He is the next guy.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_05]: And those guys haven't even come to the table yet.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_05]: The only photo guys that are here right now are the 10% but that 10% is going to be joined by 90 other percent as MLB seasons about to begin.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_05]: And if Connor Griffin breaks the roster, there is going to be so much momentum pushing around that kid.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be ridiculous.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_05]: Number one prospect in baseball, power, speed, you saw what baseball America comes out and says all the scouts are saying
- 31:19[SPEAKER_05]: fastest player, most per power potential, most yada yada yada, give me that kind of potential.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_05]: And then you got a guy in Kevin McGonagall that wins the last time we have seen somebody come through the miners that has a 70 hit tool.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_05]: I can't even remember that.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_05]: a 70 hit tool.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then you've got a guy like JJ weatherhole in the Cardinals who need somebody.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_05]: They need a player.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_05]: They need the next guy in a huge, youngest fan base.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think people realize how powerful and how bought in the St. Louis Cardinals fan bases.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_05]: Those people, if you ever go to a game at Bush Stadium, they're locked in.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_05]: They are big time baseball fans and they're rating for their next guy and the dude is a baller.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_05]: So to me,
- 32:04[SPEAKER_05]: Well we're looking at that game.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_05]: What's going to drive the momentum is the 10% of people that are here today are going to be joined by a lot more fans in the next 60 90 days and if they don't get the call up, which I think there's a strong chance a mechanical doesn't does not and whether it doesn't it may be a little more time that just gives more time for people to watch them bust out.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_05]: at the AAA level, busting at the scenes for that opportunity, let the Connor thing play out.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_05]: So that's my consensus of how this plays out.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's a strong chance Connor does come right away, or if he does end, it's going to be within the first month of the season.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think the other two follow shortly thereafter behind him.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_05]: and there's a lot of meat on the bone for all of them to get them and on behind them is everybody else joins the baseball train.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_05]: And so that's my whole consensus in my head on it.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not saying I'm right.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_05]: That's just how I'm playing the game.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_05]: And so as far stockpiling, I want to stockpile everything I can knowing where I think future values can reach.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_05]: You've got to establish and that's been our conversation.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_05]: How what do we think?
- 33:06[SPEAKER_05]: Where is this market actually going?
- 33:11[SPEAKER_05]: Today or you handed most people today a map and then have a GPS it couldn't figure out where they're going and the car market you got to have the same you don't have a GPS driving you and you don't have a map you don't know where you're going you're going to get lost you got to know where you're wanting to sell you got to know why you're doing and I can tell you this much right now.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_05]: if you've got a Connor Griffin blue right now, you've got something because there's none available.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_05]: When you go online and you want to buy one, you can't just go buy one.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_05]: You can't find them.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_05]: And it's that is the power of this baseball market right when I want to high-end Kevin McGonagall or any kind of Kevin, I can't go find them.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_05]: When I want to change a weatherholder really, I can't go find them.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_05]: And if I do find them, I'm going to pay up to go find them.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_05]: And to me, when you take supply is down, it demand is up.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_05]: And if the demand is only a fraction of where it's going to be, that tells me you see it in stocks, you see it in real estate, you see it in everything when supply is down, and demand is high prices are going up.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_05]: So my prediction,
- 34:14[SPEAKER_05]: to go on up.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Gary, that is a great insight into, you know, kind of your world and how you think and certainly it's it's been something that you've been very successful at.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I know everybody finds that, you know, helpful.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to have a little mat jump on now and and join us to bring a little mat to the room here.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, buddy?
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, guys?
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: How you all doing today?
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: So a little mat.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: What's up?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: What's up?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: What's up?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: So we've just been talking about, you know, timing little mat and the market and scarcity and demand and all these different types of things, but you had some specific, I think, questions or some topics.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: You wanted to lob up to us here since.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it's funny because all those topics that you just told me to talk about, we had some deep conversations about them last night and our little and our little text chat.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just good.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: to show y'all that like we're doing it live on the air and this is the conversation we have not on the air so we're giving y'all the inside scoop of the the Bowman farmer and the handout sports uh business here but quick come a quote cop that happened last night that I thought was ridiculously cheap a trout Bowman Cromato uh 2009 based BGS 1010 did $6600 that cart of
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: They at least 10 times back.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: Dad, I don't know if you remember, but at the 2023 National, when we bought that show, hey, auto, we were saying, wow, show, hey, it's doing more than trout.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: This is crazy.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: We'll now look in at it.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: Show, hey, it's doing almost 10 times what trout was doing.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: Does that say that show, hey, is over valued or is trout under that?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think it's got to be both like I hear you say that and I'm sitting here and this is hearing that to our conversation.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sitting here and I'm going this kind of hype with show hey can't be legit.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way that you've got show hey in a 1010 base auto would do 50 60 grand and trowbs do in 6600.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the BDS 10.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I think again, we live in the world right now.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_05]: What have you done for me lately in the car space?
- 36:12[SPEAKER_05]: And I always like, little Matt, you're probably getting used to me saying this in the car business.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_05]: You probably get tired of hearing that's how like your dad when he tells you something.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_05]: Because I'm kind of saying this one thing all the time.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_05]: If you bring a
- 36:22[SPEAKER_05]: card up that's like a year away.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'll say I just like I'm not those are guys I'm just not interested in right now because there's so much risk in guys that are a year away.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_05]: I think my max like I've had to do this for myself because y'all know this about me like dude I'll buy everybody.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_05]: I like it.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_05]: I like a lot of guys, right?
- 36:41[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I used to like a ton of ton of guys.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_05]: Well now I've condensed that list and the way I've kind of materialized that is say how far is this guy away?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_05]: And the only way I'll buy a guy that's that far away is he's got to be criminally underpriced.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm going to give you an example of that, Nate George, he might be two years away.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_05]: He's criminally underpriced for his potential.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, when you got an again, another power, speed, athlete kind of guy, he's too cheap.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_05]: You look at a guy like Zai here, hope, he might be your way.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_05]: He's criminally cheap.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_05]: So again, in my thinking, when you look at a guy like show hey, he's getting all the reasons he buy us.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_05]: But if we were talking about who were my going to buy today,
- 37:23[SPEAKER_05]: And you're like, well, he's the better flip.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to have more eyes.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to have more attention.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to have more now buzz.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_05]: Trout has to go out and do something this year.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_05]: And I have to bank on performance where was show, hey, I don't right now.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_05]: I get by him and flip him because somebody's got to have him over here.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_05]: And it's not saying that I think that trout has a really good year.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't want to have to bank that.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_05]: That to me is a clean flip type of gamble.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't want to do that.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_05]: In 20 years, who's the better by it current values?
- 37:55[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think there's a doubt that trout is significantly a better by than show hey, unless showhaken somehow string together what he's done for another, I don't know how many how will the show hey now is he 30 32.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_05]: So if he does a 10 more years, if he does 10 more years of what he's doing, then all of a sudden I may say, hey, I meet my words here because
- 38:20[SPEAKER_05]: Now he's going, he's going all the time best at my opinion.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_05]: He does what he's done for 10 more years to me.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_05]: He's the all time best player ever in my opinion.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the hot take.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is the all time best player ever right now.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: As it is, I think he's the greatest player to ever put on a baseball glove.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what he's doing and he didn't really pitch last year and still like.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: hit 50, 50 bombs like this is absurd.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: And we could talk about show hey all day, but I think he's won 4 MVP, 3 he's 3 p MVP in a row.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: You think you'll break Barry Bonds MVP record of 7 MVP's?
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think no.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think he does it in the next five years too.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_05]: Well, here's the question, too.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_05]: Lannas, he going to start getting the Barry Bonds treatment.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, if Barry Bonds, I vividly remember, I was a kid.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_05]: when Barry Bonds was doing what he was doing, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosin, those days, Mark McGuire was a good baseball player.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_05]: Sammy Sosin was a great baseball player, so he could crush a ball, but do Barry Bonds was different.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_05]: And when you look at those stats,
- 39:17[SPEAKER_05]: Nobody would pitch to this guy.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, he's kind of like, and I feel like that's what Aaron judge gets.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_05]: Look at the walks with Aaron judge.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_05]: Like, they get that respect or for some reason, and our team's going to start doing that to show him.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't know if it's because the Dodgers have enough firepower around him that they don't do that, but the judge, Barry Bonds, I think judge is the underpriced one in my opinion.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_05]: I think if we're talking about who's under price between trout, judge in attorney, Aaron judge is going to be a member right there beside attorney in this generation.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_05]: Right there.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, I also think the thing too is like, the Dodgers have so many different players, ready, mooky, Kyle Tucker's show.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, gamma modos, the stocky, like they have a lot of like stars.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_00]: And judge is the only star I would say on the Yankees.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_00]: So everyone, Aaron judge is everyone's favorite player.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: And Yankees people spend big money.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_00]: definitely an interesting topic.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: So you went else, you got a little man.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so this was a question.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: Me and you were talking about yesterday, Dad.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we had a good buddy reach out and said, I want a bi-boman and I want to make like a fund worth of 30 to 40 k worth of booming.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: If y'all too had to make a booming fund, you could buy 100 based orders, you could buy one red, booming fund between 30 and 40 k. How are you making that fund?
- 40:36[SPEAKER_02]: And what do you think it's worth in three months?
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'll give you my take on it first.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: I have two different answers.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm doing this for the sake of simplicity, I'm going to go after that orange gold parallel of probably five guys.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: And my philosophy would be that two of those five are going to see significant upside where three or five may be flat or slightly up.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: And that makes it, I only have to deal with five of seven cards, right?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would go after I mean again, it goes back to Gary's point like you're not going to be able to find a good luck finding the, you know, Connor Griffin orange right now or a. Yeah, all Gary's basement.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: We got, we got a McDonald orange on the shelf up here, but I would go, you know, I do, I agree with everybody.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: I love, I love Connor.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: I love McGonagl.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little bit less on weatherhole.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: I do like Walker and then, you know, I like a guy like Samuel Bassaya, you know, in the next you're talking 90 days and then I would probably throw in.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like a flyer, like a Wyatt Langford or a Jackson holiday, somebody who seems under price right now, somebody like that.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I would go those five guys and I would try to get some color of them.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I would just have like a 90 day hold.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I do believe in 90 days with that kind of inventory and those players.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think you see, you know, the potential of a 20 to 30% return.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you think, if you buy some gold tens of all those players, let's just say they run 35K for all of them.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: You think they're 45K in 90 days?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that would be, that would be the other side of this is if I'm actually managing a fund, I probably would go more diverse with some base, with some refractors, with some different color to give some diversity just because
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: If everything's in these gold cards, you know what I mean, you have to have a higher in buyer.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas, you know what I mean?
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: A dad and his son might go and drop $500, $600 on the base auto.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to drop five or six grand on a colored bum and card.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I would probably have more diversification if I was managing it and it wasn't hesitant on how many cards to own.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, that's my kind of dual answer.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_02]: Baba.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, um, I think it would totally depend on somebody's wrist tolerance and what that, uh, if they came to me today and and said, hey, I want you to invest my money into a fund.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_05]: I want you to create a fund for my money.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_05]: What are you looking for?
- 43:00[SPEAKER_05]: If you're looking for lower risk, high high, you know, well, I'll use it this way because there is no such thing as low risk, high
- 43:09[SPEAKER_05]: But a lower risk like standard return, give me judge, give me a tawny, give me those type of guys we just talked about trout, you know, those type of names, um, Akunia, you know those type of names and I would throw Akunia in the same next list.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_05]: of guys that I think have high potential upside in their cards.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_05]: If you were coming to me and say, hey, I also want to kind of lower my risk, but I want to shout at the moon.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_05]: Give me guys I could potentially, give me where I'm my money could double.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_05]: Give me guys like Dylan Cruz fund, give me the Jackson Merrill fund, give me Ronald Acunion that same fund.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, I got high high ceiling potential in their cards, but their cards are down.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_05]: But if you're going to come to me right now and you're going to say, hey, I'm obviously going to run a fund very similar of the way I'm running my own card fund, give me the guys that I believe in 90 days are going to get me pretty damn close to a 20% guarantee that have a chance to return 100%.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_05]: Give me McGonagal, give me Griffin, give me a weather.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's no doubt about it.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_05]: And then if you're going to come to me and say, hey, I want Kathy Wood type investments.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_05]: I want something that y'all, y'all from Arrow, who that is, Ark investments.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_05]: She kind of goes out there and she's, uh, she owns a fund.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: The Ark funds?
- 44:23[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Ark funds.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, she, okay, got you.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_05]: High risk.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: All kinds of big, but crazy returns when she hits.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_05]: She can go down and you were like, hey, I want, I want crazy returns.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: I'm willing to lose at all.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm in the gamble it.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_05]: Then I'm going to compile you a list of value pitchers.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_05]: guys that could 20x it for you.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm also going to go after which is not as risky, but I think the return is meteoric.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_05]: Guys like Zahir Hope guys like Nate George give me the guys with the high-high ceiling that are not trading at that level because they do have that meteoric type upside.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_05]: So another long-winded answer, but that's honestly the way I would run it.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_05]: I think it depends
- 45:06[SPEAKER_05]: And essentially how really we're running our fund together right now is we're predominantly on our fund, the graph in my gonna go, you know, whether whole game we mix in we mix in I would say the other 50% is a value fund where we can go in and say, you know what we see opportunity we see current value.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_05]: We don't want to hold it more than 30 days.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_05]: That's the way I'm currently looking at what we're playing, you know, when we ship we bought a.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_05]: Victor women young.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_05]: I don't even know who that I know who he is, but I've never watched it play a game in my life.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we can make money on it short term, why not?
- 45:39[SPEAKER_05]: We're buying him, Jayce, right?
- 45:41[SPEAKER_05]: Because MJ is on fire and you know the value.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_05]: So again, when there's that type of stuff, I think.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_05]: percentages are the key.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_05]: What percentage are you tolerance at that point and you can move your percentages?
- 45:53[SPEAKER_05]: Right now my percentages are super high on the McGonagall.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_05]: What we need to come up with a name on this one and the McGonagall J.J. Griffin.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_05]: So what what can we call that the MJG fun the MJG fun to me right now like
- 46:08[SPEAKER_05]: is heavy-weighted in my mind because I don't see, I cannot come up with a 60-day scenario where that fun loses money.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_05]: I can't, if someone gives me one, then I'll, I just, I want somebody to listen or somebody, don't give me some BS to my DMs.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_05]: Give me real factual reasons why, before opening day, those three names combined are lower than they are today.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_05]: And I can't come up with it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_05]: And so when somebody does and I'll share it on the air, but I haven't seen it yet.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's crazy to think because like you said, there's no way it goes down.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's been like that for the last four years that I've been in Bowman, Bowman's never gone down in March.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: So like why not buy it?
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's a free money game unless the whole market crashes.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you buy in November to January and sell in February March, it's at free 20% pretty much.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_05]: My curious on that topic, I don't remember exactly that topic of my head, but when holiday did finally get the, like his market that spring, because he's a good name to kind of compare the hype.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_05]: And honestly, I don't think that Connor's hype has gotten the holidays yet, but I think the potential is way, way more.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it's not even close.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that I think honestly, Connor's under value compared to where holiday was he's gaining on where holiday got.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_05]: really close.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_05]: But like where did, did, did, how did I did not come off and make the team, it's spring training, right?
- 47:33[SPEAKER_05]: They held him into my for a while.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they held it when he got home.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: They helped his market a lot.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like because his market continued to build because of that.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, man, that one of the reasons, like you ask me, show me a scenario, the scenario is Jackson holiday, right?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's what scares me.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't scare me because Connor might come out and go 30.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: It scares me because holiday did.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: less buyers are willing to jump in on the next guy because they got burned on holiday.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_05]: That's where that's where that now that's a whole another topic.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_05]: And so that topic alone is, yes, there's a percentage of people that maybe did lose on Jackson holiday.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_05]: But how many of the guys, the stories can we go from in the last year, where guys made boocus and money on the opposite end, right?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_05]: And so it's not because a guy, look, I was the guy and I told you all this.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_05]: I'm the idiot that didn't buy Ellie Delacruz right during the hype I was always too high I'm not gonna give in that game a lost money.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_05]: I was the same guy that got on the wrong side How y'all made a ton of money on Jackson Hall so we could go down a list of guys that have we ball hit on
- 48:37[SPEAKER_05]: If you're still on the card market, then you're kind of smart enough to figure that out.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_05]: You're going to lose some time.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_05]: You're not going to get them all right, but because the upside with Conner is literally as we sit here today, Conner's card market today, 1000%.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_05]: We could be sitting here two years from now without a doubt his card market could be 200%.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_05]: Well, there is no doubt in my mind.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, something I made a comment on holiday was the first prospect I'd ever seen because Ellie was right after holiday.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: How did the first prospect I'd ever seen that the bit that the football and basketball slippers bought and you know this, Gary, because at that cultural isn't show, you were set up with two very well-known basketball football flippers and what was one of their showcases.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: Host wait a poll of red holiday blue and I watched you pick out every single holiday at that showcase and I watched you buy it.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't see these basketball football flippers buying Connor yet because dad said all these guys got burned on holiday, but what they will they'll be best they'll be better start buying Connor I feel like his market explode guys these guys this is how they make a living I mean and and this is what they do every flippers in this game that they don't
- 49:48[SPEAKER_05]: They don't go on punch a clock Monday through Friday.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_05]: They got to find out what's next.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_05]: And if they don't get what's next, they don't have food on the table.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_05]: And so they got to buy what's next.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_05]: And they can try to play inside the football game in it happened last year.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_05]: That is exactly what happened last year in the baseball market, guys.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_05]: is football hit earlier last year, because those guys never got out of that game.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_05]: They just kept trading inside of each other.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_05]: And did you all see that last year?
- 50:13[SPEAKER_05]: The football market kind of hit a little earlier, because those guys kind of intermingled selling cards the whole time all the way through the summer.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_05]: So it was a different market last year.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_05]: When it kept baseball more natural, it didn't get artificially inflated.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_05]: I think that's what's interesting about this year
- 50:32[SPEAKER_05]: I have a strong hunch that with the upside of Conner, they're not gonna be able to keep, they're gonna be salivating at these three names.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_05]: They're sitting back and they're gonna hear all the hype and they're gonna be going, man, am I gonna miss out on a potential mix?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_05]: And I think the answer is no.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's what hasn't hit the Conner market yet and when it does, I'm bullish.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just bullish on it.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_05]: And again, I could be sitting here in six months and in really be wrong on this one.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_05]: But,
- 50:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm also going to say this, and I think this is important, and I'll let y'all sit on what's next.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_05]: People are texting me and hitting my DMs every single week when they get that post of some stuff and go, oh, you're selling?
- 51:09[SPEAKER_05]: I thought you publicly come on the show and say, you're buying Connor, you love Connor.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_05]: I do.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_05]: But if you're going to, and they'll go, why are you selling?
- 51:16[SPEAKER_05]: When you own 700 of them, if you're going to make money at the end of the day, you got to sell sometimes.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_05]: And so, you know, at the end of the day, you've got to sell into a market a little bit too, but I can promise you that I'm still packing a lot of Conner heat in the background.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm kind of balancing, okay, where's my fund at it any given day?
- 51:34[SPEAKER_05]: And if somebody comes along strong and says, Hey, they want that Conner more than I do.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_05]: Guess what?
- 51:39[SPEAKER_05]: It's theirs.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_05]: They can go put it up on their mantle and they can go, Oh, I love it.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_05]: And they can love it more than me, but it's going to cost them to do so because I believe
- 51:50[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be worth more money very soon.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_05]: And so that's where I'm playing this game.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_05]: I only really selling stuff if I believe that the opportunity right now is better.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_05]: than what the market is.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_05]: And I'll take that immediate gain.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_05]: We had a card last night.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about little math.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_05]: You brought it up in the group text.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_05]: And you said, I think we can sell XYZ for a couple of grand gain for a card.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_05]: We just bought five days ago.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_05]: And I said, do it.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_05]: And I still believe in that player.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_05]: That's a no brainer to me.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's the game we play right now.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_05]: All of us should be playing.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_05]: If somebody's going to pay you more than it's worth, you take it.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_05]: And we thought about this before the episode.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_05]: One strategy of doing that publicly.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_05]: is when there's low inventory, go post a card that you have on eBay.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_05]: Buy it now, no offers, 10 to 15% of the cop.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_05]: It'll get snipe all day long in this market because there's no inventory.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_05]: You want to make 10%?
- 52:43[SPEAKER_05]: You want to make 1-10 on the cop?
- 52:44[SPEAKER_05]: You want to make 1-15 on the cop?
- 52:46[SPEAKER_05]: Put it up on eBay when there's nothing else listed.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_05]: 10 to 15% higher, it will sell.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, story story to our listeners on that, you know, we had bought a Michael Jordan rookie sticker with a 1986 flea, Michael Jordan rookie is the rookie and then there's a sticker rookie in that set.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: And we found a freshly graded 8.5 sticker.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's really difficult to find freshly graded Michael Jordan rookie cards period.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: And so we did that exact same strategy.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: We bought that card, we put it up by it now, and we put it up about 10, 15% over the comp structure.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: It got bought within 15 minutes.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so again, being smart when you have inventory about listing rare inventory like that, that's when you know, when you see a card like that go, when the buy it now is at the right number, then you know there's a lot of people
- 53:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and something I've noticed is there's like there's no available inventory whatsoever because but question like what do you all think a Connor blue 10 goes for an auction right now because his bases are selling weekly his refractors like we haven't seen a blue 10 sell in two months the last public sales $4,000.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think it goes for an option?
- 53:59[SPEAKER_02]: Over five.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: I bet it goes over five.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's funny.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_02]: I went back six months ago.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we had Connor on the show about six months ago, right?
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: When about July, summer time, probably.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_02]: Something like that, Boba?
- 54:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: So when we had Connor on the show, we're talking Connor hype.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_02]: At that point in time, base auto PSA 9 was in the $300 range.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: $350 range.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: Dad, they were in the $300 range when I bought 18 of them a month ago.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: When we were, that's what I'm trying to kind of get the point across is like, Connor was kind of sitting for about four or five months, right?
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: In this kind of range, and it's just started to turn.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_02]: like you're just now starting to see the jay curve.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is helpful for me to go back and look because now I'm starting to see, okay, well he was actually here for a little bit.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, dad, let me ask you a little bit about what you've done.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you're telling us to go for the airbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbubbub
- 54:59[SPEAKER_02]: Bubba's got something to say.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_05]: What do you got to say, Bubba?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_05]: Here's your answer.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_05]: We're at 10% the flock, okay?
- 55:04[SPEAKER_05]: Imagine a flock.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_05]: We're sitting on a mountain somewhere in Scotland.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_05]: And we've got our flock, okay?
- 55:09[SPEAKER_05]: And 10% the weather starting to change.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_05]: Greengrass is starting to grow.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_05]: The goats are getting hungry.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_05]: She's just hungry.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we're sitting on the creating a Bowman farmer.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_05]: Poem right here.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_05]: We got 10% of our flock.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_05]: Here we are.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, the grass is growing.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, the sun's coming out.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, it's getting closer to that time.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_05]: The flock continues to grow and gets closer to 100%.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_05]: Where do you all think the prices are going to do?
- 55:32[SPEAKER_05]: Well, when the flock arrives, the prices are going to blow up.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_05]: He is the number one prospect in baseball.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_05]: he has all the tools he has not only the number one prospect in baseball he's got the most power he's got the most speed he's got the most height he's got the most every he's got the size he's did he's got it all when the flock arrives he will fly
- 55:53[SPEAKER_00]: You need to name this show the countergriff and glaze.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I feel like every every episode the last month has been just countergriff and glaze.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I mean, I mean, I just, I see these people and I see people posted it the other day.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_05]: And I want to mention this and he probably, I think he is a listener's show.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_05]: Somebody posted, who is the best buy right now in baseball?
- 56:11[SPEAKER_05]: Who is the worst?
- 56:12[SPEAKER_05]: The number one worse buy on this guy's post that people were saying, let's go on our Griffin.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_05]: What are you smoking people?
- 56:20[SPEAKER_05]: I mean wake up and smell the coffee.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_05]: I mean I literally like if he's the worst by selling them all to me.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_05]: I'll literally will buy them all.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_05]: Hit me up right now.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_05]: I'll buy every single one you have because it's literally
- 56:37[SPEAKER_05]: we are sitting here in January, January talking about baseball cards.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_05]: And if somebody in the right mind, thanks to Connor Griffin's going down in the next 60 90 days with in January, you're crazy.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and other thing that's crazy to me is like a lot of these guys that are the big guys, they were the hit of the product, McGonagall hit of the product, holiday hit of the product.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: No one wanted Connor Griffin except Gary very called me as soon as the product came out.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I've been studying this Griffin kit.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: I need all 25 oranges.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_00]: I was at the park with my dad and I'm like, okay, I went and found an orange 1600 buck.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_00]: And now they're.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: like, just crazy.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: Then, dad, you remember at the Raleigh card show, I bought a Caglione and a Conner, True Blue Gather, no one wanted that Conner Blue.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't sounded for 350 dollars.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's the thing, it's like, and that's what's so beautiful about the booming game is, when you do your research, you know, when you understand the game, when you understand the tools the prospect has, and you understand kind of how the market responds.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: I said, this is, that's how many of this all the time.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_02]: People always ask me about,
- 57:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I bought baseball cards in the 90s.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, yeah, well, good for you.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: They're not worth anything.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know why they're not worth anything?
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's because when they put a prospect inside the box, that prospect was already debuting, right?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_02]: And there was really not a lot of hype.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_02]: You're around it, you know?
- 58:00[SPEAKER_02]: Now, these card companies have figured it out.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_02]: You get the opportunity to buy guys before they've ever played, and you get to run it up through the minor leagues and track their projection, their trajectory, into debut, and that has changed the entire game, because there's an entire ancillary market to the card market of people who are chasing the next up-and-coming prospects.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and you have this window of time.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's this why I'm comfortable with it.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's just why I hate football and basketball.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to buy a football player when he's coming into the league, having to cut his chops against Garrett, coming at him off the corner.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
- 58:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's almost an automatic fail that you see a rookie in basketball or in football, truly succeed without some kind of recourse.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_02]: In the baseball game, there's so much time beforehand.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_00]: and highly priced, they are because let us compare two cards.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: A coup de coupre flag super.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: There was just pooled.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_00]: That card's going to do a million dollars.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Connor Griffin, the number one baseball prospect.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_00]: That card's not a million dollars.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think it should be.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not saying it should be a million dollars.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_00]: But that just shows the number one basketball prospect card is a million.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_00]: And the number one baseball prospect card is probably somewhere in the 200 range.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe more.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, real quick.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_05]: This is this is this is sitting on top of my head and I think this I got to share this with all listeners because I mean I'm in a special mindset this morning to share this if you guys were going to make money in baseball cards big money in baseball cars so you could flip back two years ago and say hey I give me three guys.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, not flipping them, but you wanted to just make money.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_05]: You were going to just buy these guys and you were going to make money on them.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_05]: Who are the three major league baseball card players, currently active players.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_05]: You would be buying if you wanted to say you made money from minutes amounts of money in the last two years.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_05]: Who are those players?
- 59:55[SPEAKER_05]: Three names.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_05]: judge, show, hey, and talked about him earlier.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_05]: Witt.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_02]: You take, then, you?
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_05]: Witt, yeah, though.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_05]: So you could play around, okay?
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_05]: We can jack around, and we can talk about who's the smartest in the room, or all we bought this prospect, or we bought that prospect, or we bought this major league player, and we do it on the show.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_05]: It's fun to do it, right?
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_05]: I love Dylan Cruz, for obvious, I've been telling you all that, right?
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_05]: He's a, but he has a lottery ticket, okay?
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_05]: Those other three guys were not lottery tickets.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_05]: These were you were gonna make money on these three guys.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_05]: I, and I, we could jack around and play the game any other way we want, distribute our money over here on Major League players, but the money was to be made on those three names because that's what people wanted.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_05]: That was where the demand was.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_05]: It's the same thing in prospects.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_05]: That's why I haven't been getting excited about the other people because if you want to make the money right now, where is the demand going to be?
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_05]: All the attention is going to be on these three players currently that are there.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_05]: Doesn't mean that the the the the conversation can't change quickly to somebody else that they're booming and they get the call and a crush them in on on their call ups, but in the next 60 90 days the attention's on these guys.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_05]: If you're wanting to make money in the prospect game, a high percentage of all you should be on these guys,
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_05]: Now, you can also have desire hopes in the pictures and all these other people can I do and that you can have this, but if you're really wanting to make money, we really want to simplify this game, go where the flock is going because when I try to outsmart the room, every time I try to outsmart the room and go, oh, show me, he's just too hot.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_05]: I'm a dummy.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_05]: When I try to say, oh, I don't know, Aaron Jobs could get hurt again.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_05]: I'm a dummy.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_05]: when he because those people want that, they want them.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's the cream of the crop, you know what I mean?
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's the peak, it's the peak of the market.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, before we before before we wrap up, I wanted to do this.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to do this every episode.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_00]: So right now, Connor, Grisson, based autos are $550 and McGonagall are $350.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_00]: I want every week.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_00]: I want to keep you all accountable.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: You all need to go to the prices every week.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_00]: And just see how much it goes up every single week.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_00]: The Connor based autos would be $700 and a month.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_02]: 550 on Connor and 380 on McGonagall?
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_02]: All right, that's a timestamp boys and girls January 20th we're recording this episode 5.50 and 3.80 Connor McGonagall based on those.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right, gentlemen, any final thoughts before we wrap up today?
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Jenkins is the most undervalued past back now in close.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_05]: I got something.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_05]: We Walker.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_05]: wait for your flock.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_05]: They're coming.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_05]: The flock is coming.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_05]: Be there waiting when the flock arrives.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_05]: Be there waiting.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_05]: If you show up to the show after the flock, you will lose money.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_05]: You show up before the flock, you will be prosperous.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love Gary's narrating voice.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_02]: I did too.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_02]: Gary gets a narrating voice down here.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's fantastic.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to get chat GPT to get Gary.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to get you as a shepherd on the side of a lock in Scotland with a flock.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: But on the flock every little face of the sheep is going to be congregated.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_05]: Tell you what, if Connor continues to go like he does, I will live stream an episode, laying with my flock of sheep.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_05]: I'll lie stream in a bed of sheep.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, boys and girls, thanks so much for tuning in to another episode of SportsCardCE.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate you, guys.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, make sure you like, subscribe, leave us a review, hit us up in our DMs.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate you, guys.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, we'll be back next week.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_02]: Peace.
