- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's finish with this one. The world's largest indoor cocktail
- 0:04Speaker 1: party presented by prize picks. Um, I guess the party's
- 0:06Speaker 1: still outside, but the game indoor. So we'll, we'll see.
- 0:10Speaker 2: He's always, always outside.
- 0:13Speaker 1: So in the dome this week, it's weird. It is.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It sucks. Let me just preface by saying I hate
- 0:21Speaker 1: every athletic director in the country. Equally all 138, 39
- 0:24Speaker 1: of them. Not personally. I don't really know many of
- 0:28Speaker 1: them personally, just a few. But yeah, it sucks. They're
- 0:33Speaker 1: not being an opportunity for this game to be between
- 0:34Speaker 1: the hedges and then in the swamp next year is stupid.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I live in Tampa. I'm literally selfishly glad that it's
- 0:40Speaker 1: in Tampa for me next year because I'll go. But
- 0:43Speaker 1: it is annoying to me that this game is not
- 0:46Speaker 1: on the campuses. But again, if you're watching this as
- 0:49Speaker 1: a fan of either of these teams, your AD doesn't
- 0:50Speaker 1: care about you. They care about money, and so does
- 0:53Speaker 1: everyone else that runs this sport. Graham and I care
- 0:54Speaker 1: about you, and that's why we're going to talk about
- 0:56Speaker 1: the actual game and tell TJ to shut up and
- 0:58Speaker 1: stop ranting about the games played. We care about you.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Can we do the heart emoji? I'm not a girl,
- 1:05Speaker 1: so I don't, I don't really know how to do
- 1:06Speaker 1: that well. So yeah, yeah, that's it. You gotta, you know, Taylor, um,
- 1:12Speaker 1: we were talking off air, uh, Georgia, absolutely elite to
- 1:14Speaker 1: steal from you at, uh, Contact yards allowed a metric
- 1:19Speaker 1: is metrics, baby. Yeah. Dog central.com Georgia elite on both
- 1:23Speaker 1: sides of the ball, Florida, very average, not, not bad,
- 1:25Speaker 1: not good. Just in the thirties on both.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:28Speaker 1: When you look at all the power for teams, they're,
- 1:29Speaker 1: they're kind of middle of the road on both. So
- 1:33Speaker 1: what can Florida do? Because I don't really know that.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I believe like, Oh, you just, you just play up
- 1:39Speaker 1: because it's a big opponent. Every, I know this is
- 1:41Speaker 1: a big opponent. It's a rivalry every week's big in
- 1:43Speaker 1: the sec. Like, you know, like you just, this idea
- 1:46Speaker 1: of like, Oh, we'll just play better because Georgia is
- 1:48Speaker 1: not going to against Florida, like a good Florida team.
- 1:51Speaker 1: That's top 20. Like, like Georgia is just going to
- 1:53Speaker 1: be like, Oh yeah, well, yeah, it's just Florida, you know?
- 1:56Speaker 1: So I want to know what Florida does to, to
- 2:03Speaker 1: compensate for that because Georgia is really, really good at it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And if, if, if that's what this game comes down to,
- 2:08Speaker 1: certainly I like the dogs in this, but I do
- 2:12Speaker 1: think that that's a big question I have. What stands
- 2:15Speaker 1: out to you the most in this one?
- 2:18Speaker 2: I'm very curious about Florida's quarterback situation and what they're
- 2:22Speaker 2: going to do here with all of that. I am
- 2:26Speaker 2: not a Florida football insider, but I, I had questions
- 2:30Speaker 2: as they went into that Texas game, like is Philo
- 2:33Speaker 2: hurt or are we saying that he's dinged up so that,
- 2:37Speaker 2: This isn't talked about in the media and the fan
- 2:41Speaker 2: base as like a, you know, we're going to the
- 2:43Speaker 2: backup type situation. And I don't know the answer to that.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I really don't. But now Florida has put Trammell Jones
- 2:52Speaker 2: on tape, and that's a different animal if you look
- 2:55Speaker 2: at numbers. I mean, like if I see a team
- 2:59Speaker 2: that's fielding a new quarterback in the middle of a
- 3:03Speaker 2: season that nobody's ever seen play in a game before,
- 3:06Speaker 2: that's an almost automatic– take the points with that team
- 3:09Speaker 2: spot for me because it's really hard to game plan
- 3:12Speaker 2: for a guy that you've never seen before. Well, Florida's
- 3:14Speaker 2: got both these guys on tape now. On one hand,
- 3:18Speaker 2: I think from what we've seen from the Florida offensive
- 3:22Speaker 2: line at times that you need the mobility of Jones,
- 3:26Speaker 2: but on the other, I just don't know that you
- 3:29Speaker 2: traditionally see guys who are going to tear apart a
- 3:33Speaker 2: Kirby smart defense without being able to kind of like
- 3:38Speaker 2: show some savvy and poise and, and get through some
- 3:42Speaker 2: reads and all of that. And I don't know that
- 3:43Speaker 2: Philo is the best in the country at that, but
- 3:46Speaker 2: just from the small sample sizes we've seen of both,
- 3:48Speaker 2: I think he might be a little bit more apt to,
- 3:53Speaker 2: to like beat Georgia on the backside of cover too,
- 3:55Speaker 2: and do some things that I think you often have
- 4:00Speaker 2: to do if you want to have success through the
- 4:02Speaker 2: air against the Kirby smart defense. Cause I think they
- 4:04Speaker 2: have to be able to stay balanced. You know, they
- 4:06Speaker 2: can't just put it all on ball. That's not going
- 4:08Speaker 2: to be the recipe in store. Sorry. Go ahead.
- 4:10Speaker 1: No, no, you're good. Um, Florida getting their full compliment
- 4:13Speaker 1: of wide receivers back for this game, Singleton Wilson and, uh,
- 4:18Speaker 1: Vernel Brown. Although I believe there's some concern around where
- 4:21Speaker 1: Bailey Stockton is. He's certainly their, their fourth option. Um,
- 4:25Speaker 1: but he's been productive and, and had some, some big moments.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So I don't want to minimize him. they've got all
- 4:31Speaker 1: the weapons in the world on offense. I wonder what
- 4:33Speaker 1: their offensive line looks like because it did a freaking
- 4:35Speaker 1: good job. I'll say against the Texas front that Colin
- 4:39Speaker 1: Simmons played more than 75% of the game. He went
- 4:41Speaker 1: down early in the fourth quarter. So it's not like
- 4:44Speaker 1: you just got to not see him.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And they still have talent even without him, their offensive
- 4:50Speaker 1: line did a really good job there. Can they do
- 4:51Speaker 1: that again? The two questions that I have had for
- 4:54Speaker 1: Florida all season quarterback, I think it has a very
- 4:57Speaker 1: clear ceiling, but it's not, the, like, I don't think
- 5:02Speaker 1: the quarterback play has been bad. Um, but I do
- 5:06Speaker 1: think that like the, the questions that I have for them,
- 5:10Speaker 1: offensive line and secondary, can Georgia take advantage of that?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Can Georgia's pass rush? Can their defensive front continue to
- 5:18Speaker 1: limit the run? Can they get pressure on Jones or Philo?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Whoever's playing in this thing and, and can gunner rebound
- 5:25Speaker 1: from the Auburn game to take advantage of a, a
- 5:30Speaker 1: not very good secondary at times this year, they looked
- 5:33Speaker 1: better against Texas. I'm not taking any credit away, Florida fans,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but also arches a dumpster fire at times. So their
- 5:40Speaker 1: offense is just at best inconsistent, plenty talented. I think
- 5:44Speaker 1: Georgia's offense is certainly more consistent. So that's a big
- 5:47Speaker 1: question I have for the, for the Florida Georgia game
- 5:49Speaker 1: is can the offensive line hold up against Georgia's front?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Can their secondary hold up against gunner and this offense?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm curious a little bit. You know,
- 6:05Speaker 2: you look at Florida's passing game. You just talked about
- 6:10Speaker 2: all those weapons that they have, and I'm in total agreement. Like,
- 6:15Speaker 2: across the board, they have the ability to stretch you.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You go back and look at that Texas game. They
- 6:19Speaker 2: ran 94 plays in that game.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's insane.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, they really controlled the ball. They had 12 drives.
- 6:29Speaker 2: You know, they– average starting field position on their own 34,
- 6:32Speaker 2: which is great over that many drives. And they averaged
- 6:35Speaker 2: almost seven plays a drive. So like they were able
- 6:38Speaker 2: to ground it out. They were not very explosive. They
- 6:42Speaker 2: only had four explosive plays in the football game, but
- 6:45Speaker 2: situationally they were very, very good. And their red zone
- 6:49Speaker 2: success rate was 58% versus 25% for Texas. And that
- 6:54Speaker 2: was sort of the difference in the football game. I
- 6:56Speaker 2: do think Jones's legs are, helped them a lot as
- 7:00Speaker 2: the field shrinks for those wide receivers. Because one thing
- 7:04Speaker 2: that I don't know that we think about a lot,
- 7:07Speaker 2: because they do have such talent on offense, if you
- 7:11Speaker 2: look at their season and then you look at pass attempts,
- 7:18Speaker 2: they've got 14 completions all year that had 12-plus air
- 7:22Speaker 2: yards on a pass attempt, which is not a lot.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And so that is the interesting piece to me. Buster
- 7:31Speaker 2: has always been good at attacking Georgia. And that really
- 7:36Speaker 2: started obviously in 2024 when, when he had Haynes King
- 7:39Speaker 2: and Georgia tech and they sort of pushed Georgia into
- 7:41Speaker 2: that eight overtime game that, that Georgia tech should have won, honestly. Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 2: But that football game, you go back and look at it.
- 7:51Speaker 2: And what they did was they were able to, protect
- 7:56Speaker 2: King at times. They were able to run him at times,
- 7:58Speaker 2: but they were able to freeze Georgia enough with play
- 8:01Speaker 2: action and protect Haynes King enough. And honestly, his legs
- 8:06Speaker 2: were part of this, just extending plays to allow these
- 8:10Speaker 2: late crossers to develop and get Georgia's linebackers singled up
- 8:15Speaker 2: in space against shifty guys like Eric Singleton. And I'm
- 8:21Speaker 2: curious to see, because that's kind of what Auburn just
- 8:24Speaker 2: did to Georgia. And I historically have been of the
- 8:29Speaker 2: opinion that if Georgia gets beat a certain way, that
- 8:36Speaker 2: that's what it is. But like, they're not going to
- 8:38Speaker 2: get beat the same way twice, usually in a short
- 8:42Speaker 2: period of time, like Kirby smart. He's a really good coach.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And one of the reasons why is if something's broken,
- 8:48Speaker 2: he usually fixes it quickly. So I'm curious what Buster does.
- 8:55Speaker 2: in this game and sort of how he attacks Georgia. Does,
- 8:58Speaker 2: does he try to force the ball downfield more? Cause
- 9:00Speaker 2: we have seen Demelo Jones be a little bit shaky
- 9:04Speaker 2: for Georgia at the boundary corner position in terms of
- 9:06Speaker 2: getting his head around and maybe it's just a free
- 9:09Speaker 2: 15 yards, but, but it keeps your offense on the field.
- 9:12Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, I, I just, I don't know. Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I was talking to Allie about this yesterday a little
- 9:19Speaker 2: bit when, when she and I recorded the, And I
- 9:24Speaker 2: said to her, kind of like, well, what's been the
- 9:26Speaker 2: big difference in good Florida and bad Florida? You know,
- 9:31Speaker 2: I mean, like, what's been the big difference in their
- 9:34Speaker 2: ability to play in some of these games and be
- 9:39Speaker 2: very successful offensively or very unsuccessful offensively? And it's kind
- 9:44Speaker 2: of hard to... Understand that a little bit, right? I mean,
- 9:49Speaker 2: I think it all comes down to their offensive line
- 9:51Speaker 2: at the end of the day. And can they protect?
- 9:53Speaker 2: And for Georgia, their pass rush has been better this
- 9:58Speaker 2: year than it was last year. year.

- 11:13Speaker 2: And it was actually quite good against Auburn, despite the
- 11:15Speaker 2: fact they lost that game. But this feels like a
- 11:18Speaker 2: game where, like, they have to challenge their defensive line
- 11:21Speaker 2: and be like, all right, look, all you guys are
- 11:23Speaker 2: former five-star and high-ranked four-star recruits, and it's on you
- 11:28Speaker 2: to go out and beat blocks and beat the man
- 11:32Speaker 2: in front of you and not overstress our linebacking core
- 11:35Speaker 2: that's filled with high-level future NFL athletes too much to
- 11:39Speaker 2: where they can't be effective enough doing all the things
- 11:42Speaker 2: that we ask them to do. Like it's your job
- 11:44Speaker 2: to keep them from getting paper stretched out. And if
- 11:48Speaker 2: you can, then I think Georgia can play on their
- 11:50Speaker 2: toes and be aggressive defensively and that they have a
- 11:53Speaker 2: shot to not like shut Florida down by any means, but,
- 11:58Speaker 2: but turn Florida into a little bit more boom or
- 12:03Speaker 2: bust where, yeah, maybe they hit a 20 yard play,
- 12:06Speaker 2: but then they, they get two yards over the next
- 12:09Speaker 2: three plays and they punt that kind of thing. So
- 12:13Speaker 2: that is the matchup to me really is Georgia's defensive
- 12:17Speaker 2: line versus Florida's offensive line. Cause I, you can tell
- 12:21Speaker 2: me you're down in Florida. You have a good pulse
- 12:22Speaker 2: on that program, but it feels to me like it
- 12:25Speaker 2: would be a little bit unrealistic to expect Florida's defense
- 12:29Speaker 2: to shut Georgia down in this game. Is that fair?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. I think, I mean, Florida has
- 12:35Speaker 1: not been very happy with their defense. I thought that
- 12:38Speaker 1: they were happy with the way that the Texas game
- 12:42Speaker 1: went down. But not, not incredibly happy with a lot
- 12:49Speaker 1: of the other. a lot of the rest of the
- 12:53Speaker 1: season defensively, they did plenty against Ole Miss. They, and
- 12:58Speaker 1: that was really impressive, but a lot of the rest
- 12:59Speaker 1: of the season, they, you know, some are always been
- 13:01Speaker 1: complaining about it. Um, the fan base has been complaining
- 13:04Speaker 1: about it. You know, the, the defense hasn't been good enough. I,
- 13:09Speaker 1: I don't want to sit here and say that I
- 13:11Speaker 1: think Georgia can just score at will because their defense
- 13:13Speaker 1: does make plays. And McCrae was really good against Texas. Um,
- 13:18Speaker 1: Jaden Woods is still there. I like their linebackers. There
- 13:21Speaker 1: is talent in the secondary. It's certainly the weakest position
- 13:25Speaker 1: group of the team, probably that or offensive line, but
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's certainly of the defense. And so there are plays
- 13:30Speaker 1: to be made. But yeah, I don't know that they
- 13:34Speaker 1: can consistently shut Georgia down. I think Georgia gets into
- 13:38Speaker 1: the 30s in this game. I don't think it's a
- 13:41Speaker 1: blowout by any means because Florida's offense can score at
- 13:43Speaker 1: times too. But I think Florida's defense is If they
- 13:49Speaker 1: can show it to me again, which I think, again,
- 13:51Speaker 1: they did it against a really inconsistent, again, at best,
- 13:55Speaker 1: Texas team. But I like Georgia's defense here. Or I
- 14:00Speaker 1: like Georgia's defense way more. Georgia's offense, sorry, way more
- 14:04Speaker 1: than I like Florida's defense.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little bit of an interesting spot. You know,
- 14:12Speaker 2: the total in this game only being 56.5 points surprises
- 14:16Speaker 2: me a bit. That total is a little bit higher
- 14:22Speaker 2: than the total in that Ole Miss-Texas game last Saturday night.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I don't know if that speaks to the high level
- 14:35Speaker 2: of variance that we've seen from Florida's offense and just
- 14:37Speaker 2: kind of not knowing exactly what you're going to get
- 14:39Speaker 2: from them, but it is a little bit intriguing to
- 14:45Speaker 2: me that even coming off that Texas win and Georgia
- 14:49Speaker 2: coming off the lost South Carolina, you're in a spot where,
- 14:53Speaker 2: you know, UGA is favored by as much as they
- 14:56Speaker 2: are favored by. And then I, but I also look at,
- 15:01Speaker 2: I mean, some of the metrics for Florida, man, I'm
- 15:03Speaker 2: just going to list them off here. Like past success
- 15:06Speaker 2: rate allowed their 6% tile and all of the FBS
- 15:12Speaker 2: and you, you know, 99 would be like number one. Uh,
- 15:16Speaker 2: yards per drop back allowed 37th percentile pass expected points
- 15:20Speaker 2: added per play 16th percentile rush explosive percentage allowed fourth
- 15:26Speaker 2: percentile pass explosive percentage allowed 10th percentile, uh, explosive percentage
- 15:32Speaker 2: overall out first percentile. They've been okay in the red zone,
- 15:39Speaker 2: 49th percent. They've been okay with line yards, but we
- 15:42Speaker 2: just talked about some of those numbers, uh, They don't
- 15:45Speaker 2: stuff runs. Their average third down distance allowed has been 6.3 yards.
- 15:53Speaker 2: That's 121st in the FBS. The late down success rate
- 15:55Speaker 2: allowed has been 56.6%, which is 134th in the FBS.
- 15:57Speaker 2: If Georgia loses this game, it feels like it's a
- 16:00Speaker 2: failure of it's likely a failure of Mike Bobo and
- 16:18Speaker 2: Gunnar Stockton and that kind of marriage, the run game,
- 16:22Speaker 2: whatever the, the Georgia offense to capitalize on a defense
- 16:27Speaker 2: that certainly looks like it should be had now against Texas,
- 16:33Speaker 2: Florida to their credit said like, we're not going to
- 16:36Speaker 2: get beat on our heels. And they blitzed the ever
- 16:40Speaker 2: loving shit out of Arch Manning. Yeah. And, and they,
- 16:44Speaker 2: created a couple turnovers and like created some panic and uncomfortability.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I think Georgia's offensive line is better than Texas's, but
- 16:51Speaker 2: I also think Gunnar Stockton is a better decision maker
- 16:54Speaker 2: and game manager than Arch Manning in terms of, Hey,
- 16:57Speaker 2: if I see blitz, I'm not just going to automatically
- 16:59Speaker 2: chuck it 40 yards downfield and hope that it's, there's
- 17:02Speaker 2: not a safety sitting back there. So we'll see if,
- 17:06Speaker 2: you know, I think this will be an interesting spot
- 17:08Speaker 2: for Gunnar though. Like how does he manage having a
- 17:11Speaker 2: bad game against Auburn? Right. Like how healthy is he?
- 17:14Speaker 2: He had the stinger against Auburn. I know people had
- 17:17Speaker 2: questions about where he was, you know, in that game.
- 17:21Speaker 2: But I think it kind of comes down to him.
- 17:26Speaker 2: This is not to be cheesy, but this is kind
- 17:29Speaker 2: of a legacy game for any Georgia quarterback, like the
- 17:34Speaker 2: chance to go 2-0 against Florida in your career and
- 17:38Speaker 2: the chance to win a ranked-unranked Georgia-Florida game for the
- 17:41Speaker 2: first time since 2020, I think. that we've seen that.
- 17:46Speaker 2: So it, it's an opportunity for him to kind of
- 17:49Speaker 2: make a statement. I think that we saw one week
- 17:52Speaker 2: anomaly that was maybe due to some, some injury type stuff.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And he really is one of the better quarterbacks in
- 17:59Speaker 2: the country, the way we thought he was that night
- 18:02Speaker 2: in Tuscaloosa.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. It's a, it's a massive opportunity for
- 18:06Speaker 1: both teams. I want to say this, I've said this
- 18:07Speaker 1: on a couple of shows, so I don't mean to
- 18:08Speaker 1: be repetitive, but everybody's talking about Texas could get in
- 18:11Speaker 1: at nine and three. If, Florida was to win this
- 18:16Speaker 1: game and, and, and, and they only have two losses,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but let's say they go on the road and lose
- 18:21Speaker 1: to Kentucky who I think we, you know, as of today,
- 18:24Speaker 1: we would have Kentucky in the playoffs. We'll see how
- 18:26Speaker 1: their last month finishes up. But if Florida is nine
- 18:28Speaker 1: and three and has three top 10 wins, including a
- 18:33Speaker 1: head to head with Texas, including an old miss team
- 18:36Speaker 1: that came down to the swamp and they just decimated
- 18:38Speaker 1: and including number two, Georgia, like Texas credit for beating
- 18:42Speaker 1: number one, Ohio state. If Florida goes to beat Georgia
- 18:46Speaker 1: in the state of Georgia, and I know it's a
- 18:47Speaker 1: neutral site, but if they go beat them in Atlanta,
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think they deserve that 9-3 and then lose to
- 18:55Speaker 1: Kentucky or lose to Oklahoma, whatever. I think they deserve
- 18:58Speaker 1: that credit for being the nine and three team to
- 19:00Speaker 1: go to the playoff more than Texas does because they've
- 19:02Speaker 1: got the head to head on. Texas still is going
- 19:05Speaker 1: to have wins against, like we just mentioned, Ohio state.
- 19:08Speaker 1: They'll have a win against LSU on the road. They'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: have a win in Neyland against Tennessee and they'll have
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Ole Miss game too. So I guess the question
- 19:17Speaker 1: would come down to what's more impressive for ranked. Well,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I guess Florida will have Missouri as well. but four
- 19:23Speaker 1: ranked wins or four highly ranked wins or three highly
- 19:26Speaker 1: ranked wins and a head to head. My gut would
- 19:29Speaker 1: say that Florida at nine and three, they beat Georgia,
- 19:32Speaker 1: lose to Kentucky. They get, they should get it.
- 19:33Speaker 2: All right. Well, so spin that the other way. If
- 19:37Speaker 2: they lose this game, but went out, I mean, I
- 19:40Speaker 2: still would argue that wins over Texas Ole Miss and
- 19:43Speaker 2: Kentucky are as good as any big Ten team's resume.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. I think, yeah, I don't
- 19:49Speaker 1: think that's wrong. I just think that what would put
- 19:51Speaker 1: Florida over the top, because Florida's having a fight, and again,
- 19:56Speaker 1: this shouldn't be this way, but Florida's having a fight
- 19:59Speaker 1: their way up. Well, I guess Texas is too right now.
- 20:04Speaker 1: But Florida's having a fight their way up.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Ask beat though. That's going to be the problem when
- 20:08Speaker 2: they get into that room is not that they lost
- 20:11Speaker 2: those games, but the way they lost those games by,
- 20:14Speaker 2: you know, four touchdowns is bad.
- 20:17Speaker 1: The, if they can beat Oklahoma, I think that would
- 20:22Speaker 1: be a big help because you'd have a head to head,
- 20:24Speaker 1: another common opponent. Um, they be old miss in a
- 20:29Speaker 1: much different way than Texas beat old miss. So, um,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I agree with you. The Florida losses are bad. The
- 20:35Speaker 1: Texas losses, I guess we would ask where the third
- 20:39Speaker 1: one comes from, right? What's going to be that third loss?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Is it at A & M, which is a bad loss,
- 20:44Speaker 1: or is it at LSU, which takes away one of
- 20:46Speaker 1: your quality wins? It's going to be a mess. If
- 20:54Speaker 1: both teams are 9-3, both teams have four or five
- 20:56Speaker 1: ranked wins, both teams beat a top three team, I
- 21:00Speaker 1: think it's hard to not say that that head-to-head should
- 21:02Speaker 1: mean quite a bit because they're going to be right
- 21:04Speaker 1: next to each other.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Well, and remember a couple years ago, the first year
- 21:09Speaker 2: of the 12 team, when there was that group of Alabama,
- 21:11Speaker 2: Ole Miss, South Carolina, all from the SEC, all at 9-3,
- 21:16Speaker 2: and none of them got in. But they were all
- 21:19Speaker 2: sitting there on the outside looking in, and there was
- 21:22Speaker 2: a whole conversation that sort of occurred amongst the committee
- 21:25Speaker 2: where they said, oh, well, head-to-head doesn't matter anymore. at
- 21:29Speaker 2: this point, because we've got a big group of teams,
- 21:31Speaker 2: so we're not just comparing two teams, right? They make
- 21:34Speaker 2: this shit up as they go, but it'll be interesting
- 21:37Speaker 2: to see from a Florida perspective, it would suck for
- 21:42Speaker 2: them if they get screwed on that Texas win because
- 21:44Speaker 2: of some scenario like that where it's like, oh, well,
- 21:47Speaker 2: we're just comparing four, five, nine, and three teams at
- 21:52Speaker 2: this point, so we're not really considering that. We're looking
- 21:57Speaker 2: at the entire body of work because Texas would get
- 22:01Speaker 2: the nod with that Ohio State win, unless Ohio State
- 22:03Speaker 2: craters out, which is not entirely impossible.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I also don't think that shouldn't count against Texas, though.
- 22:13Speaker 2: No, it shouldn't count against them, but it will change things.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You and I both know it will change things. There's a.
- 22:23Speaker 2: An emotional optical thing that happens, I think to the
- 22:26Speaker 2: people in that room where it is a different process
- 22:29Speaker 2: for them saying, Oh, well, Ohio state was, you know,
- 22:34Speaker 2: the number one team in the country when this happened
- 22:36Speaker 2: versus Ohio state is still a top five team or,
- 22:41Speaker 2: you know, a playoff team or whatever. Like those are
- 22:43Speaker 2: two different conversations. And we see that every year for
- 22:46Speaker 2: better or worse, you know?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I, I, I agree. They, but I do think
- 22:53Speaker 1: that win should still count as the number one win.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I'm not big on, I think it's a delicate balance,
- 23:00Speaker 1: just big picture on is a team, is a team
- 23:03Speaker 1: what their record or their rating was when you play
- 23:05Speaker 1: them or at the end of the season. I go
- 23:09Speaker 1: back and forth on that because Georgia tech and Boston
- 23:12Speaker 1: college got credit for top 10 wins against Florida state
- 23:15Speaker 1: when they went two and 10. And I think we
- 23:17Speaker 1: can all say that that wasn't a top 10 team.
- 23:19Speaker 1: They just happened to be ranked there in the preseason.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I know Ohio state was there early in the preseason.
- 23:24Speaker 1: The one thing I changed my thinking on with that
- 23:27Speaker 1: is injuries. If an injury happens and a quarterback goes down,
- 23:32Speaker 1: that's where I'm willing to say, okay, Ohio state was
- 23:34Speaker 1: a top. We all, there's still power rating team. So
- 23:38Speaker 1: I'd leave Texas.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Away from our ratings. Yeah. Still in Vegas, Vegas has,
- 23:43Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think that that injury adjustment has
- 23:46Speaker 2: really occurred yet because we haven't had a a full
- 23:48Speaker 2: game of it, but it'll be interesting how that, that
- 23:51Speaker 2: plays out over the long haul for sure. Um, but yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 2: I'm with you, man. I'm, I'm a hundred percent in
- 23:57Speaker 2: agreement with where your mind's at here. I, I agree
- 24:01Speaker 2: that there is a, uh, a little bit of a,
- 24:05Speaker 2: I mean, there's so many things that can play out
- 24:07Speaker 2: at this point that I don't know how useful it
- 24:09Speaker 2: is to imagine all of the scenarios, but I, I
- 24:14Speaker 2: do think that these, uh, The win that Texas had
- 24:18Speaker 2: against Ohio State should carry the weight that it probably
- 24:23Speaker 2: would have carried if Julian Zane didn't get hurt. Now,
- 24:27Speaker 2: I'm of the belief that Ohio State probably loses to Indiana.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Not loses to Indiana, but I'm of the belief that
- 24:36Speaker 2: Ohio State was capable of losing another game on this
- 24:40Speaker 2: schedule with or without Julian Zane. right so if they
- 24:44Speaker 2: lose another game like i don't know that's a huge
- 24:45Speaker 2: difference in what we would have seen but if they
- 24:48Speaker 2: bottom out and miss the playoff or something like that
- 24:50Speaker 2: after this then that feels like something that needs to
- 24:54Speaker 2: be taken into consideration.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah for sure florida is a 10 and a half
- 24:59Speaker 1: point dog here back to the actual game for a
- 25:01Speaker 1: moment um or the last moment florida's a 10 and
- 25:04Speaker 1: a half point dog i like them to cover i
- 25:06Speaker 1: like georgia to win i like something like 31, 24, 34, 28,
- 25:13Speaker 1: something like that. Like I think Florida, I think Georgia
- 25:14Speaker 1: gets into the low thirties. I don't have as much
- 25:17Speaker 1: faith in that Florida defense. I think Florida puts up
- 25:20Speaker 1: some points, but I've got more confidence in Georgia's defense.
- 25:23Speaker 1: So 34, 27, 34, 28, 31, 28, something in there, right?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Like I think it's a three to seven point game.
- 25:30Speaker 1: They do cover the spread, but Georgia wins.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting. Kirby smart. Let's slip. I
- 25:37Speaker 2: don't even really let slip. I think he said it
- 25:39Speaker 2: intentionally on Monday that they've been showing their defense clips
- 25:43Speaker 2: of Jaden ball all season long and sort of saying,
- 25:48Speaker 2: are you practicing to tackle the running back that you're
- 25:51Speaker 2: going to play this week? Or are you practicing to
- 25:53Speaker 2: tackle the best running backs in college football? And he
- 25:57Speaker 2: was very praiseworthy. You know, he gave a lot of
- 26:00Speaker 2: compliments to Bob. I know he thinks highly of him.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I know Georgia recruited him as a linebacker at one
- 26:04Speaker 2: point and he's a Georgia kid. But I find that
- 26:09Speaker 2: a little bit interesting and informative that that's kind of
- 26:14Speaker 2: been the standard or the idea of the test for
- 26:18Speaker 2: this Georgia defense for a little while. They have not
- 26:21Speaker 2: tackled well in the last couple weeks. They missed, I think,
- 26:24Speaker 2: 15 tackles against Auburn. That is super uncharacteristic from a
- 26:28Speaker 2: Georgia defense. They come off the bye week. I think
- 26:32Speaker 2: they'll tackle better, which I think is what you have.
- 26:34Speaker 2: to do against a Buster Faulkner offense. If you can't
- 26:36Speaker 2: tackle in space, you're going to be in trouble. I
- 26:39Speaker 2: think they'll get it right in that regard. This game,
- 26:43Speaker 2: to me, does feel like there's a wide range of outcomes.
- 26:47Speaker 2: If Georgia is able to win up front on the
- 26:51Speaker 2: defensive line like we were talking about in the beginning
- 26:53Speaker 2: of this and whip some blocks and get pressure with
- 26:58Speaker 2: four and do some of those things, this could be
- 27:00Speaker 2: a long day for Florida. If they aren't, then all
- 27:05Speaker 2: of a sudden Florida's stretched you out. You've got time.
- 27:08Speaker 2: You've got all these big toys in space from a
- 27:12Speaker 2: wide receiver standpoint. So I could see this being a
- 27:16Speaker 2: three-point game, and I could see this being a Georgia
- 27:21Speaker 2: wins kind of comfortably type of game. So I do
- 27:25Speaker 2: think Georgia wins this football game. I'm going to pick
- 27:28Speaker 2: them to cover because I– I'm going to believe in
- 27:32Speaker 2: Kirby smart off a loss until I get shown otherwise. Right.
- 27:37Speaker 2: But you know, I mean the, the 10 and a
- 27:40Speaker 2: half and the hook right there, that's a, that's a,
- 27:44Speaker 2: you could lose by half a point very easily. I
- 27:48Speaker 2: would probably take a little Georgia alt line in this
- 27:52Speaker 2: game too, to win by like a big number. Cause
- 27:55Speaker 2: I do think that that's possible with the, the DLOL
- 27:59Speaker 2: stuff we were talking about, if that breaks down the
- 28:01Speaker 2: wrong way for Florida. But, yeah, the total in this
- 28:08Speaker 2: game makes me feel more confident about Georgia, to be
- 28:13Speaker 2: honest with you. Just, you know, I think the recipe
- 28:16Speaker 2: for Florida to win this game is probably to turn
- 28:20Speaker 2: it into a little bit of a shootout, unless you're
- 28:22Speaker 2: just going to get another three turnovers from Georgia or
- 28:25Speaker 2: something like that. And if that's the case, well, you know.
- 28:28Speaker 2: you normally lose football games and you're minus two, minus
- 28:30Speaker 2: three in the turnover column. Yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I think that's, it can be impossibly as the, the equalizer.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's why, you know, the shots Auburn for
- 28:38Speaker 1: making the plays, but it's why Auburn won two weeks ago.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I also think like the bi-week here is really interesting.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I tell you, I agree with you. I like Kirby
- 28:49Speaker 1: coming off a loss, uh, I really would have liked
- 28:51Speaker 1: Kirby coming on the loss if there wasn't the bi-week
- 28:53Speaker 1: in between it. And I would have really hated Florida
- 28:56Speaker 1: coming off of a huge win on the road in Austin.
- 28:59Speaker 1: If you know, the bi-week I think mitigates some of that.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I don't know what percentage, 10%, 20%, 30%, whatever. The
- 29:06Speaker 1: bi-week mitigates a little bit of that because you're, you're
- 29:12Speaker 1: not as high. Maybe if you were, if, if you're
- 29:14Speaker 1: in Florida shoes, you're not, maybe not as low. You've
- 29:16Speaker 1: had two weeks to get over that loss to, to Auburn.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So it maybe mitigates a little bit of it on
- 29:21Speaker 1: both sides, but the way that both teams will have
- 29:24Speaker 1: handled it is interesting. I know you'll cover this inside, outside,
- 29:28Speaker 1: upside down, around all the places over on Dog Central.
- 29:31Speaker 1: So make sure that people are subscribed there or at
- 29:34Speaker 1: least following it. I, we referenced some metrics, but the,
- 29:37Speaker 1: the trenches, um, the dog central.com backslash trenches is I
- 29:41Speaker 1: use it on just about every show that, that I
- 29:43Speaker 1: ended up doing. So go check that out. If you
- 29:46Speaker 1: charge people for, uh, for that page, which it is free.
- 29:49Speaker 1: If you charge people for that page, I'd have to
- 29:50Speaker 1: buy a subscription, uh, because I'm, I'm using it on everything,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but I do try and tell people about it. So
- 29:56Speaker 1: Graham coffee on social media on dog central, man, we
- 30:00Speaker 1: appreciate you a ton for, for hanging out with us
- 30:02Speaker 1: another week. Next week's a big one. We'll have like 18, um,
- 30:05Speaker 1: 18 games we're talking about. So make sure you are
- 30:08Speaker 1: subscribed everywhere.
