- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: from Long Story Shorts podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy. Today
- 0:18Speaker 1: we are discussing our thoughts on One Perfect Wedding, the
- 0:21Speaker 1: third installment in the Hallmark Spring Fling series. This is
- 0:25Speaker 1: a third of five movies and I.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yeah, what third fot oh in the Springing?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Okay, oh, yes, we will not that's trilogy, correct, got it?
- 0:39Speaker 1: As we mentioned, this is a bonus episode. Our regular
- 0:42Speaker 1: podcast episodes drop every Tuesday morning, and the sleep we
- 0:45Speaker 1: talked about our favorite travel destination. So hop on over
- 0:49Speaker 1: and give that one to listen if you haven't already.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But first, Wendy, do you have a synopsis of One
- 0:55Speaker 1: Perfect Wedding?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I do one perfect wedding. With her book tour in
- 1:02Speaker 2: two weeks and his expanding business plans, Kara and Ben
- 1:06Speaker 2: put their long engagement behind them and booked the chalet
- 1:09Speaker 2: for a small wedding with friends and family, starring Taylor Cole,
- 1:16Speaker 2: Jack Turner, and my favorite Christmas museum manager, Rukia Bernard. Yes,
- 1:25Speaker 2: I love her?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Do you love her?
- 1:26Speaker 2: Spoiler alert?
- 1:27Speaker 1: I love her too? I do too. So news and
- 1:30Speaker 1: notes on this movie.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I had found quite a few, actually awesome. This is
- 1:37Speaker 2: the final film in the trilogy. The other two movies
- 1:42Speaker 2: are called One Winter Weekend and One Winter Proposal. And
- 1:49Speaker 2: I believe this movie was originally going to be called
- 1:52Speaker 2: One Winter Wedding, correct, But they had some script problems,
- 1:58Speaker 2: script delays.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Maybe I read two different things, one that this script
- 2:02Speaker 1: needed some work, and then that filming was delayed due
- 2:06Speaker 1: to pandemic protocols. Oh so they filmed later, which is
- 2:11Speaker 1: why I didn't make it into either the Holiday.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Or the Year New Movies, right, Yeah, but then they
- 2:20Speaker 3: ended up getting kind of a snowstorm in the middle
- 2:22Speaker 3: of filming anyway, so it looks like a winter movie.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it didn't look like a spring movie. No, I
- 2:27Speaker 2: mean it looked like real wintery for sure. For sure.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I wonder if this was supposed to be slated in
- 2:32Speaker 2: the New Year New Movies. For remember, A New Year's
- 2:36Speaker 2: Resolution had been filmed like the year before, and then
- 2:39Speaker 2: they popped that one in there, So I wonder if
- 2:41Speaker 2: this was supposed to go. I don't who knows, who knows?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Who knows? This was filmed in Whistler, British Columbia. Have
- 2:50Speaker 2: you ever been there?
- 2:51Speaker 1: I have not, but my husband has, and I love
- 2:53Speaker 1: that he wants to go back.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Oh really specifically at the Sasquatch Mountains. And I did
- 3:02Speaker 2: see that filming wrapped February twenty twenty one. Man, they
- 3:07Speaker 2: just turn and burn these things.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, man, quick. Yeah. Taylor Cole met her husband while
- 3:15Speaker 1: filming a Hallmark movie. Oh that's cool, and she got
- 3:18Speaker 1: married in twenty twenty in a toned down ceremony with
- 3:23Speaker 1: just a few guests, and the rest of it was
- 3:24Speaker 1: live stream to the rest of their family and friends.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And Jack Turner, the actor who plays Ben. He worked
- 3:31Speaker 1: for Google for ten years before turning to acting.
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's so funny, Like, I'm tired of this Google job.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna scream the steady paycheck. I'm gonna get into acting.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I got pretty pretty consistently. It's so funny.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So I do have a couple of IMDb reviews for
- 3:51Speaker 2: this movie.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I was looking at. One of them was so funny. Okay,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I can't wait.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Oh okay, well there was a whole bunch of them.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I only pulled out two of them. Quote. I do
- 4:02Speaker 2: love Megan's mom killing it as DJ. So Meghan was
- 4:07Speaker 2: her bff and her mom had come in to officiate
- 4:12Speaker 2: the wedding.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Right. She was efficient, wasn't she? She married them, didn't she? Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I don't know that she was supposed to be though.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think maybe that happened in the snowstorm. But she
- 4:23Speaker 1: was the officiant, you're.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Right, and then but she was also the trivia night
- 4:28Speaker 2: you know, masters of ceremony whatever. Anyway, Okay, the next
- 4:32Speaker 2: quote is shame on you for screwing up a great story.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Well, the one that popped out to me, if you
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't mind me adding one. It was the featured one
- 4:42Speaker 1: on the IMDb homepage. It's not now. It says, why
- 4:45Speaker 1: is Kara so suspicious of Ben after all this time?
- 4:48Speaker 1: Why is Ben bald snow explanation? Why is the log
- 4:51Speaker 1: cabin slash la now magically a completely different luxury hotel room?
- 4:55Speaker 1: No answers to any of these questions in a very
- 4:57Speaker 1: weak story lead to this poor rating.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Okay, that's not true, because they did talk about while
- 5:04Speaker 2: why the hotel looked different, they were doing construction to it, right,
- 5:08Speaker 2: didn't He's like I do, I ah, yeah, I mean
- 5:12Speaker 2: they never did talk about like why Caro was like,
- 5:17Speaker 2: you know, suspicious of Ben and why Ben looked different.
- 5:21Speaker 2: There was actually a lot of terrible IMDb reviews about
- 5:25Speaker 2: Bin's non existent hair. They were seeing things like he
- 5:29Speaker 2: looks like a chemotherapy patient. I was like, come on,
- 5:32Speaker 2: give me a break. That doesn't change anything.
- 5:36Speaker 1: No, I know. I was actually bothered by the number
- 5:39Speaker 1: of people who called out the hair missing hair.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And as someone who never saw the two other movies
- 5:48Speaker 2: that he had hair in and never seen this Jack
- 5:51Speaker 2: Turner in any other ever movie ever, I thought the
- 5:56Speaker 2: bald head, shaved head went with his care charter. His
- 6:00Speaker 2: character's like this like snowboarding, like cool guy, company owner
- 6:05Speaker 2: or whatever I thought it fit. I thought it was
- 6:07Speaker 2: some of my book people change their hair, like give
- 6:11Speaker 2: me a break.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm so annoyed by that. What was
- 6:15Speaker 1: your first impression of this movie.
- 6:19Speaker 2: As a standalone movie. Like I said, I hadn't seen
- 6:22Speaker 2: the other two. I thought it.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Was really good. I really enjoyed it. I liked it too,
- 6:29Speaker 1: But I wrote, what I have cared more if I
- 6:31Speaker 1: had seen the first two movies.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yes, especially after reading that, I AMDB reviews because there
- 6:36Speaker 2: were a lot of people who were upset with this movie.
- 6:39Speaker 1: This does seem to be like a well, loved trilogy,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and I did record the other two, but I have
- 6:44Speaker 1: not watched them yet. So I could see how you
- 6:48Speaker 1: could be invested in this foursome because I enjoyed them
- 6:54Speaker 1: and I wished Sean had been there in person. We
- 6:57Speaker 1: could talk more about that, but uh huh, I think
- 7:00Speaker 1: that would have brought it all home. So let's jump
- 7:03Speaker 1: to what we liked, all right, I have a huge list,
- 7:08Speaker 1: all right, huge.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Okay, They're kind of all over the place. It was
- 7:13Speaker 2: a beautiful location. The snow looked legit y. Yes, there
- 7:20Speaker 2: was like obviously some backstory that there was like a
- 7:23Speaker 2: polar vortex happening during the filming of this. So like
- 7:27Speaker 2: when they're out in the snow, that is not computer
- 7:29Speaker 2: generated snow, they are in the.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Snow in a spring movie. Finally, right, exactly.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I loved Rukia Bernard. I thought she was a great
- 7:40Speaker 2: best friend in this movie. She's just bright and lovely
- 7:45Speaker 2: and I want more from her. But I want her
- 7:47Speaker 2: to be a lead in a movie.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yes, she's always the sidekick, yeah, but I did think
- 7:53Speaker 1: this was a much better role for her than her
- 7:55Speaker 1: Evergreen character Hannah. I just I think she shines a
- 7:59Speaker 1: little bit more in this role. But I was so
- 8:01Speaker 1: happy to see her. I loved her. I loved her too.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Do you want me to keep going or do you
- 8:07Speaker 2: want to yours?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Go ahead?
- 8:09Speaker 2: I loved Megan's mom. I wish I had, I wrote down,
- 8:13Speaker 2: I wish I had more women figures like that in
- 8:15Speaker 2: my life. You know who's just gonna like, let me
- 8:18Speaker 2: pour you a cup of tea and let's chit chat
- 8:20Speaker 2: and give me some like wisdom. You know. I loved her.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I loved, loved, loved Kara's final wedding dress.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yes, that was on my list too.
- 8:32Speaker 2: The lace detail, her whole wedding look, her hair was perfect.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I loved it, loved it, loved it, loved it. I
- 8:42Speaker 2: liked the mysterious angle, like the lodge story and she's
- 8:46Speaker 2: trying to work it out or whatever. And I didn't
- 8:50Speaker 2: even hate this suspicion around Ben, even though I thought
- 8:54Speaker 2: that would be like kind of a red flag, like
- 8:56Speaker 2: you're marrying this guy, but you have all these like
- 8:59Speaker 2: concerns that he's secretive, that you might want to have
- 9:04Speaker 2: a talk about that before you get married. Two more things.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I love the idea of a trivia night before you
- 9:12Speaker 2: get married, like that's your rehearsal dinner or whatever. Right,
- 9:15Speaker 2: what a fun idea. I wonder if people actually do that.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I think that's so great.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I've seen it done at a couple of showers. So
- 9:23Speaker 1: much fun.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I loved the meaning behind Ben's cuff links that Sean
- 9:30Speaker 2: sent him. Did you know they were like squirrels?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yes?
- 9:35Speaker 2: And she asks him, like, what's the meaning behind? Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 2: and he goes because squirrels are secretive, and apparently I
- 9:42Speaker 2: had a lot of secrets, you know, as a college there.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I don't know if their college roommates or whatever they were,
- 9:49Speaker 2: but yeah, and finally they played an actual pop song. Again,
- 9:57Speaker 2: someone's got a budget to play a Calvin Harrison ha.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yes, I know as soon as I started playing that, yep,
- 10:04Speaker 1: I loved that too. It's like a real wedding, not
- 10:07Speaker 1: just like casual band music playing in the back.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. Okay, tell me what you liked.
- 10:13Speaker 1: You got everything. I had everything on my list you had.
- 10:16Speaker 2: But that wedding dress was so pretty. I lived it.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Loved the wedding dress. It reminded me a little bit
- 10:22Speaker 1: of Princess Kate's wedding dress. I know hers was different longer,
- 10:28Speaker 1: but I had that the lace up top. I loved
- 10:32Speaker 1: that dress, and I was not at all sad that
- 10:34Speaker 1: her original dress was ruined.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Me neither me neither.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk roadblocks placed in the way of our
- 10:42Speaker 1: movie couple.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Well, the biggie is the sister mixes up the dress
- 10:50Speaker 2: styles colors when ordering.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, yes, I only said the only reason
- 11:00Speaker 1: Night hands a day is because it's not so much thing.
- 11:02Speaker 1: It would stop it from getting married more like wedding hygiens.
- 11:05Speaker 2: But yeah, okay, fine, fine, but getting married there was like,
- 11:09Speaker 2: you know, weather was a problem.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Right, Ben is keeping secrets.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Her third book, Pitch Deadline was like a happening.
- 11:22Speaker 1: In these twos, there was a lot.
- 11:25Speaker 2: There was a lot happening.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I wonder if the original script had more to do
- 11:30Speaker 1: with Megan and Sean. And then because he couldn't be there,
- 11:34Speaker 1: they had to maybe throw in some more stops on
- 11:40Speaker 1: the way to Kara and Ben's wedding to have conflict.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because at first they were gonna get married
- 11:50Speaker 2: at city hall or whatever, and then she couldn't do
- 11:52Speaker 2: it because her dad couldn't be there, and that was
- 11:54Speaker 2: just like whatever, you know, they made mention to like
- 11:57Speaker 2: another wedding that didn't happen. So were they supposed to
- 12:01Speaker 2: get married in the second movie? I wonder, and something
- 12:04Speaker 2: happened there?
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't know. They talked about Rome and how that
- 12:06Speaker 1: didn't work, and I don't know the answer to that.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm curious too.
- 12:11Speaker 1: What did you wish for?
- 12:14Speaker 2: All right? I wished for an actual appearance from Sean.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yes, so I have that too. I wish Dushane Williams
- 12:23Speaker 1: had been present on set, and I read an interview
- 12:26Speaker 1: with Rukia Bernard that said the pandemic and other commitments
- 12:29Speaker 1: kept him away. If it can't work around that, well,
- 12:33Speaker 1: here's what I think. I think because of quarantine requirements.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You know, in Canada they were having to quarantine for
- 12:40Speaker 1: two weeks prior to filming. So if he's just coming
- 12:43Speaker 1: in to film this from something else and then he
- 12:46Speaker 1: has to go back and potentially quarantine for another two
- 12:48Speaker 1: weeks before filming that, I wondered if that was the
- 12:52Speaker 1: issue that he couldn't work around, like all the quarantine
- 12:55Speaker 1: going back and forth.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I hated it. I hated that part of it.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I wrote down is he going to be best Man?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Via iPad, like I thought somebody was going to be
- 13:05Speaker 2: holding the iPad up, yeah, because he was technically the
- 13:08Speaker 2: best man.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Ben says, you're the best virtual best man. I
- 13:12Speaker 1: could have ever rusked, right, But they never show.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I thought maybe the sister Zoe would be holding like
- 13:16Speaker 2: the iPad during the whole but thank god they didn't.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Like because I write, but he is on the phone
- 13:21Speaker 1: at the wedding. You know they did that in Evergreen too,
- 13:24Speaker 1: and I just I suppose it's an interesting way to
- 13:29Speaker 1: bring them in. It's just unfortunate that, you know, these
- 13:33Speaker 1: characters couldn't be in the movie, and because it's a series,
- 13:38Speaker 1: it's not like they can just replace them.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Right then, I would say put the movie on hold again, right,
- 13:46Speaker 2: And yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a disservice to the actor that they have
- 13:50Speaker 1: to appear on a screen in their movie.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Right right. I mean I guess I could look like sideways, like, Okay,
- 14:00Speaker 2: you know, it's COVID and they had to deal with
- 14:04Speaker 2: this kind of you know, protocols or whatever, so I'll
- 14:08Speaker 2: just go with it. But it still bothered me because
- 14:12Speaker 2: I mean, movies get put on hold all the time, right, right,
- 14:17Speaker 2: So production wise anyway, and the fact that like he
- 14:21Speaker 2: proposed to Megan at the end via iPad. I just
- 14:25Speaker 2: know I hated that. It was beautiful, but I hated
- 14:31Speaker 2: the whole thing. I hated it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: They did a good job as they could have, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: who wants an iPad proposal? Nobody?
- 14:40Speaker 2: Right, nobody. That's why I'm like, why just write that
- 14:44Speaker 2: part out of the story then? But maybe they felt like, well, listen,
- 14:48Speaker 2: I'm here for like, if they spin this off and
- 14:51Speaker 2: make it a Megan Sean you know, right, they get
- 14:55Speaker 2: a fourth their wedding, Yes, exactly, But I was not
- 14:59Speaker 2: into that whole at all.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I also wished for more wedding trivia.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Oh did you?
- 15:07Speaker 1: They did two questions and then you fast forward to
- 15:09Speaker 1: the end and they're handing out the trophies. I feel
- 15:12Speaker 1: like they could have put a little more effort into
- 15:14Speaker 1: this moment, and I think that would have been fun.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You know, what would have been cool if if it
- 15:19Speaker 2: was kind of a shout out to the fans of
- 15:21Speaker 2: the trilogy, who would have been able to answer questions
- 15:25Speaker 2: from like the two previous movies, like you know, details
- 15:28Speaker 2: of that would have been really fun. Yeah, it was
- 15:31Speaker 2: kind of like She's like, oh, it's half time. Now
- 15:33Speaker 2: give me some more details about this uh whatever this
- 15:38Speaker 2: whatever she was looking for, I can't even remember what
- 15:41Speaker 2: it was. Whoever was a minority shell shell company owner
- 15:44Speaker 2: of the Yeah that was Hilara lave On. Yes.
- 15:50Speaker 1: The last thing I wish for is that Megan didn't
- 15:54Speaker 1: have such a burden on her shoulders, that Kara had
- 15:57Speaker 1: done more of the wedding work. It was so bizarre
- 15:59Speaker 1: to me that she's like, Hey, maybe my wedding planner
- 16:00Speaker 1: and just like give up your life for the next
- 16:02Speaker 1: two weeks. And I just had that made of honor helping.
- 16:05Speaker 1: But Kara doesn't do any.
- 16:06Speaker 2: She doesn't do jack shit. Yeah nothing.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It's that one thing to ask for help is another
- 16:11Speaker 1: going to be like, I'm just going to relax and
- 16:12Speaker 1: enjoy these two weeks and can you just please paint
- 16:14Speaker 1: these gold.
- 16:15Speaker 2: That was a bit odd because everybody knows, like if
- 16:19Speaker 2: you're diying anything like that takes a lot of time,
- 16:24Speaker 2: and to like gold leaf all those pine cones or
- 16:27Speaker 2: whatever like that would have taken forever. Like, yeah, that
- 16:32Speaker 2: was crazy. I needed less of Zoe Ben's little sister.
- 16:37Speaker 1: So funny I read that in another review. I thought
- 16:40Speaker 1: she was cute and fun. I enjoyed her.
- 16:42Speaker 2: No, I definitely saw over written all over that girl
- 16:44Speaker 2: from from Go she like the salads were wrong, right.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I just I don't I just didn't love it.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I didn't love it.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I like that he had her as her like woman,
- 17:00Speaker 2: and I would love to see like more weddings move
- 17:06Speaker 2: that way. I mean, I know people do that, but like,
- 17:08Speaker 2: why do you need like all seven brides or seven
- 17:11Speaker 2: bridesmaids and seven you know what I mean? Like, let's
- 17:15Speaker 2: men and women can have friends of the opposite sex
- 17:18Speaker 2: and good friends, and they can stand up for you
- 17:20Speaker 2: when you get married, don't you think absolutely? Yeah?
- 17:24Speaker 1: I think so too.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Just a side note, how I feel about weddings in
- 17:27Speaker 2: twenty twenty one. I need less high Jinx music. H
- 17:34Speaker 2: I don't know if I just hate it. And this
- 17:36Speaker 2: is why this is what bugs me about it is
- 17:38Speaker 2: that it's not giving me the viewer any credit, Like
- 17:43Speaker 2: I understand what's happening, Like you know, something mysterious is happening,
- 17:47Speaker 2: or something's going to go wrong, or I don't mean
- 17:51Speaker 2: the music as a cue to tell me like that's
- 17:54Speaker 2: going to happen. It just bothers me. Hate it so much.
- 17:58Speaker 1: And I feel like this movie was primed for hyjinks
- 18:01Speaker 1: because the couple is already in place, so we don't
- 18:03Speaker 1: have the will they or won't they drama. They're not
- 18:07Speaker 1: getting together, they're already in a relationship, they're already heading
- 18:12Speaker 1: toward their wedding, so they had to create drama somehow,
- 18:16Speaker 1: And you kind of knew it was going to be
- 18:18Speaker 1: in you know, pine cones dropping on their heads and
- 18:22Speaker 1: mismatched wedding dress colors. And I saw the hyjinks coming
- 18:27Speaker 1: from a mile away.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah, So did you need the music right? I don't know.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I would have liked maybe a little explanation or recap
- 18:40Speaker 2: of the other two movies at the beginning, but I
- 18:43Speaker 2: did think it stood alone just fine, so as not
- 18:49Speaker 2: seeing those other two movies. Like I enjoyed it on
- 18:52Speaker 2: its own, but like I would have loved some sort
- 18:55Speaker 2: of recap.
- 18:57Speaker 1: If you remember, in the Evergreen movies, Hands and His
- 19:00Speaker 1: character is narrating everything about the town and all the
- 19:03Speaker 1: people that we have met in the previous movies, and
- 19:05Speaker 1: part of it is because there is a bit of
- 19:08Speaker 1: a rotating cast of characters in those movies. But I
- 19:12Speaker 1: was hoping for the same thing happening here, because these
- 19:15Speaker 1: movies are several years apart. So while you do have
- 19:17Speaker 1: the fans you are, you do get people like us
- 19:21Speaker 1: that are coming in fresh. I agree that it's sood alone,
- 19:23Speaker 1: but I also agree I would have preferred some sort
- 19:25Speaker 1: of when we last left our couple exactly.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Did you have anything else you wished for?
- 19:31Speaker 1: That's it? Time for digitsy that I have a few
- 19:36Speaker 1: I have. Maybe we should talk about buying a resort
- 19:39Speaker 1: with the person we're going.
- 19:40Speaker 2: To marry anyway, right, Okay, I didn't have that written down,
- 19:43Speaker 2: but you're right, Like he's just I'm guessing he's like
- 19:47Speaker 2: some billionaire or I mean, he's got to be a
- 19:50Speaker 2: billionaire if you're going to buy a resort, right.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So, right, is it him buying the resort or is
- 19:56Speaker 1: it his business buying the resort? Those are two different things, right, Like,
- 19:59Speaker 1: if it's your compan and he making a deal, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: don't need to be a part of that. But if
- 20:03Speaker 1: this is coming out of what are going to be
- 20:04Speaker 1: our joint shared finances, it seems like a pretty big
- 20:07Speaker 1: deal that we should maybe have a conversation about.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know why he was so secretive about
- 20:13Speaker 2: that part, Like that was I mean, he was just
- 20:15Speaker 2: trying to save like his snow camp or whatever.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But yeah, that was Yeah, why is it secretive? Why
- 20:23Speaker 1: couldn't he have just said, hey, here's what's going on,
- 20:26Speaker 1: unless he thought she wouldn't like it, in which case
- 20:28Speaker 1: that's a big red flag. Totally he's doing it thinking
- 20:31Speaker 1: knowing that she's going to be unhappy about it, or
- 20:34Speaker 1: soon she'd be unhappy about it.
- 20:35Speaker 2: It was like, you know, she went to her dad
- 20:37Speaker 2: and Megan both and just was like Ben's being really
- 20:41Speaker 2: secretive and strange and he's making decisions without me, like
- 20:46Speaker 2: or you know, she was kind of bothered that he
- 20:49Speaker 2: booked the chalet for their wedding because they didn't do
- 20:52Speaker 2: it as a couple, but she wasn't doing anything for
- 20:57Speaker 2: the wedding, right like you mentioned. So it was just
- 21:00Speaker 2: it's weird. You would think that they would have a
- 21:02Speaker 2: conversation about like, hey, what's happening. Something seems off with you?
- 21:08Speaker 1: But yeah, say, hey, I know you're trying not to
- 21:11Speaker 1: burden me the week of our wedding, but it actually
- 21:13Speaker 1: is bothering me that you're so secretive and now I'm
- 21:15Speaker 1: spinning it out into a much bigger deal in my
- 21:18Speaker 1: mind than it probably is. Right, So would help me
- 21:21Speaker 1: if you would just talk to me. I hate when
- 21:23Speaker 1: people say things to me in real life like oh,
- 21:25Speaker 1: don't worry about it, or it's not a big Like
- 21:27Speaker 1: I am gonna worry about it now that you're not
- 21:29Speaker 1: telling me what you're what's going on here makes me
- 21:33Speaker 1: want to know much more.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Right? Right?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Did you see that?
- 21:38Speaker 2: What was Megan wearing at the wedding?
- 21:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It's like, where'd she get that outfit?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yeah? Right, I don't know if she just had it
- 21:46Speaker 1: packed into her bag.
- 21:48Speaker 2: In their color scheme that you know, because yeah, I mean,
- 21:52Speaker 2: she looked adorable. But I just was like, oh, I
- 21:54Speaker 2: thought maybe she was gonna wear the purple wedding dress.
- 21:57Speaker 1: But anyway, Look, no bridal salon can deliver a dress
- 22:02Speaker 1: in a week, can they not know?
- 22:06Speaker 2: No?
- 22:06Speaker 1: You can walk in and buy a dress off the
- 22:08Speaker 1: rack and hope they have it in your size and
- 22:10Speaker 1: walk out with it. But you're ordering a customed dress
- 22:14Speaker 1: like they were like, we want this dress in this color.
- 22:16Speaker 1: No dresses take weeks and weeks and weeks. So sorry, friends,
- 22:21Speaker 1: but you cannot you were gonna have to like hope
- 22:24Speaker 1: that somebody had something on the rack for you to
- 22:25Speaker 1: go home with.
- 22:27Speaker 2: That's fit, right, because alterations take time too.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, there was no fitting. There was no alterations.
- 22:36Speaker 2: They're so funny. Okay, let's talk about Kara's dad. I mean,
- 22:40Speaker 2: how old could he be? He wasn't much older than
- 22:43Speaker 2: she was.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yes, I was thinking the same thing. She had a
- 22:46Speaker 1: very young dad. He was maybe fifty maybe.
- 22:50Speaker 2: And how old is she in her thirty I mean,
- 22:53Speaker 2: I guess it's possible.
- 22:54Speaker 1: But I mean I would put her at thirty five.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so what would that make fifteen?
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah? It was I did. I did notice that he
- 23:04Speaker 1: seemed like a quite young dad.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Oh, and I don't know the story, like neither of
- 23:09Speaker 2: them had parents there other than Kara's dad, Like, yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 2: his parents were dead, her and mom was dead, I.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Think, which I think is why they had to give
- 23:20Speaker 1: the Zoe character a spot in the movie. A because
- 23:23Speaker 1: Sean's not there to be a physical like presence for
- 23:27Speaker 1: Ben to have someone at the wedding. Yeah, and also
- 23:32Speaker 1: so he would have some sort of family presence. I
- 23:35Speaker 1: think had Sean been there in person, then we wouldn't
- 23:40Speaker 1: have had so much Zoe.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That would have been fine with me, right, I am
- 23:45Speaker 2: trying to look up. I want to see if okay,
- 23:48Speaker 2: So Taylor Cole is, Oh, she's here with dark hair
- 23:53Speaker 2: that looks really good on her nineteen eighty four, so
- 23:56Speaker 2: that's she's thirty sixty six.
- 23:59Speaker 1: And then what's said the dad? Play bye? She'll be
- 24:04Speaker 1: thirty seven this month.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Blake Staddle, I can't find anything. He's not that much older.
- 24:12Speaker 2: He's probably in his forties, maybe fifty. Anything else or
- 24:16Speaker 2: did you see that anything? Did you say that.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Her dad brings her her mother's wedding dress the night
- 24:22Speaker 1: before the wedding so that she can sew a piece
- 24:24Speaker 1: into her wedding dress. It is the night before her wedding. Now,
- 24:27Speaker 1: of course this solves the problem of having the purple
- 24:29Speaker 1: wedding dress, and she has something to wear, but she's
- 24:32Speaker 1: not going to be sewing something into her wedding dress.
- 24:35Speaker 1: It's a very busy time the night before her wedding.
- 24:39Speaker 2: You know, she's like cutting the dress up. Yeah, they
- 24:43Speaker 2: show her like I think, like removing the stitches or whatever. Right,
- 24:47Speaker 2: but then the dress like pristine the next day. So yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 2: I mean luck would have it would be like if
- 24:53Speaker 2: she totally took it apart and then decided that she
- 24:56Speaker 2: needed the to wear the dress and they zipped it
- 24:59Speaker 2: back to together real quick. You know.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah, did you.
- 25:04Speaker 2: See the actual snowflakes on their eyelashes?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yes, falling and there was snow falling and actually landing
- 25:11Speaker 1: on their shoulders. And loved it.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Oh, there was a really funny scene at the beginning.
- 25:18Speaker 2: They're supposed to be in Seattle, where like rains all
- 25:20Speaker 2: the time, and they're walking under an umbrella. It's not
- 25:24Speaker 2: raining one and there's people in the background without umbrellas.
- 25:29Speaker 2: It was so weird, like why have the umbrella, like
- 25:33Speaker 2: it's not even raining.
- 25:35Speaker 1: What did you rate this movie?
- 25:37Speaker 2: Like I said, I kind of liked it. I gave
- 25:39Speaker 2: it three stars.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I did do exactly three.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Ah, look at that.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I really liked Ben, I really liked Kara. I thought
- 25:48Speaker 2: they were great actors and a lot.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Of natural chemistry. I could see them as a couple.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, Like it didn't feel forced. I was
- 25:58Speaker 2: wondering with him. I was trying to play if he's
- 26:00Speaker 2: like a British actor, because he kind of sounded like
- 26:03Speaker 2: he had an accent.
- 26:04Speaker 1: To have an accent.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Oh he does. Where's he from?
- 26:07Speaker 1: Do you know to know? Oh?
- 26:09Speaker 2: How do you know he has an accent?
- 26:10Speaker 1: Because I heard it on his instagram? Oh did you know?
- 26:13Speaker 2: You did a deep dive on Jack Turner's instagram.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Deck the Hallmark.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Here we go, I'm hanging out with the boys from
- 26:23Speaker 2: Deck the Hallmark.
- 26:24Speaker 1: On today's episode. Oh definitely things.
- 26:27Speaker 2: One perfect wedding and one perfect curry.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So give it a listen where you listen to your podcasts.
- 26:32Speaker 2: We'll check it out on YouTube for free. Thanks.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I mean that is where I heard it.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That's a game changer for me too. Right, I'm going
- 26:41Speaker 2: to have to listen to Deck the Hallmark, which I
- 26:43Speaker 2: do often listen to. I really like those guys. I
- 26:48Speaker 2: wanted to tell you. I forgot to mention. I got
- 26:52Speaker 2: a message on our Girls Gone Hallmark instagram about Ryan Pavey.
- 26:58Speaker 2: We talked about Ryan Pavey last week and we were
- 27:01Speaker 2: talking about how he's a little bit stiff or like
- 27:05Speaker 2: his cadence seemed a little like Uh okay, So she
- 27:10Speaker 2: wrote here she listened to our podcast and she said,
- 27:15Speaker 2: you mentioned finding paybe a bit stiff. I don't know
- 27:19Speaker 2: if his speech pattern was part of that. He attributes
- 27:24Speaker 2: that to his mother being a grammar quote unquote Nazi,
- 27:30Speaker 2: and as a result, he over enunciates everything.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah, isn't that.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I still said to him I like him too.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I like him too, and now I like Jack Turner,
- 27:42Speaker 2: so yeah.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Hey British, why can't he be British? British people
- 27:47Speaker 1: behave in the States. Come on, seriously, I think you're
- 27:51Speaker 1: mything the Mark here on this one, Hallmark. This is
- 27:53Speaker 1: a whole new world, all right.
- 27:57Speaker 2: So, speaking of Ireland, we talked about Ireland and our
- 28:00Speaker 2: regular podcast on Tuesday. Megan, are you looking forward to
- 28:06Speaker 2: as luck would have it?
- 28:07Speaker 1: I'm so excited and not just because it's said in Ireland,
- 28:10Speaker 1: but because it stars Juanna garcias Wisher, who I adore,
- 28:14Speaker 1: and it also stars Alan Leech, who if you were
- 28:17Speaker 1: a fan of Down to Abbey you will know him
- 28:19Speaker 1: as Tom Branson.
- 28:20Speaker 2: It's like, oh.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Like, I'm so excited for this movie.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Please don't let me do see, I'm thinking it was
- 28:28Speaker 2: not slated to be a Hallmark movie, Like I feel
- 28:31Speaker 2: like maybe this was supposed to be something.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Else and Hallmark bought it. Yeah, because it's like powerful
- 28:38Speaker 1: actors and powerful location. Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly, Bromcom. That
- 28:43Speaker 1: just couldn't make it happen because of COVID.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know, but I'm excited. I'm looking forward
- 28:49Speaker 2: to it.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I love everything about this movie that I know so far.
- 28:53Speaker 1: So we will be back next Thursday to discuss that.
