- 0:06SPEAKER_02: I'm Ron Struce, and I'm joined by my friends and co-hosts Brett Miller and Phil Boone.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: We'll be exploring the world of Dungeons and Dragons in each episode, sharing our experiences, offering tips and advice for those who play and run this classic game.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: So whether you're a new player just starting out or a seasoned veteran looking to get a new perspective on things, Bards and Barrels has something for everyone.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: So sit back, grab a drink, and join us as we roll for initiative and embark on an epic adventure.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: And there's a season three opening crack.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: That was beautiful, Brett.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I still remember how to do that.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: It's been so long.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: So long.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: Thanks for having us back, Ross.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't know if I can think I can get rid of you.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: You're like co-owners of the show, so you know.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: You broke in.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Left the door unlocked for you.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: Uh, what are we talking about tonight?
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Let's actually let's start.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: You tell us.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: It's kind of my job, right?
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: Uh let's let's get going with a little bit of uh a preview of season three.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Phil, you want to share some of like the bigger things that we're gonna be doing this season?
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: So season three, uh, if you've listened to us before, there's a couple things we got to round out still.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: So we've been going through class reviews.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Uh we started class reviews in season one, and there are just so many classes that we are almost there.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna try to round those out this season.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Um looking also at keeping mailbags, obviously.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, we love answering your questions, so be sure to get some submitted if you have some for this season.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: And then I as I kind of read over our list for this season, what I see is, you know, we've talked about getting into the game, we've talked about creating characters, we've hit on these class reviews.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: I feel like now we're getting more into the you know, how do I play?
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: Not necessarily the nitty-gritty, the rules, but a little bit of the rules.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: So things like using a help action, right?
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: Let's talk about spell casting.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: What's a ritual?
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: What are components?
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: I think we're gonna get into a few more of those details this time around.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the the things that make you be able to sit at a table and play DD without having to be looking like an idiot.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Or feeling like you look like an idiot.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: You you don't, but you maybe feel that way.
- 2:32unknown: Yeah.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: We're gonna help you get over that.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Uh the other thing that we're continuing to do that we we introduced last year as uh last year, last season as a bonus episode were the opening cracks where we review some beers uh every other week.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: So we break up the DD with with some beers, and then we of course like uh come up with some some brew names and some beer names that you can use in your campaigns and stuff.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: So we'll continue to do the opening cracks, but they're no longer gonna be bonus episodes, they're just gonna be like a permanent uh piece of Bards and Barrels now.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: As they should be.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: As they should be.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: That's the barrels part of Bards and Barrels.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: So it's to be there.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: If any of you have listened to all of them and you've happened to write down all of the tavern names and beard names, you wanted to send us a list.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: That would be lovely.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Super helpful.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: How many times has Ross placed it in?
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: You say that.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: But I'm pretty sure you guys have done it more than I have.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: So I quit saying where they're from, so that way it doesn't happen.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Oh I mean, because after you have three or four, everything's in Baldur's Gate, so it doesn't really matter anymore.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Um, but one thing we are gonna try to do this season for um a bonus type episode.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: We're gonna try to do four of these.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Um, and we haven't even piloted it out yet to see how well it works, but we're gonna do something that we call the bottom of the barrel.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: I think we mentioned it uh at the end of last season.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Um, but what that's going to be is just a way for us to talk about some non-DD things, but it's gonna be things that like also influence our play, movies we watch, books we read, beers we drink.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: It could be just about anything that we talk about there.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: And I think Damon will probably, if you listen to the opening crack, Damon who joins us uh there, Damon Jensen Heitman, will probably join us for the bottom of the barrel as well.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: So I think that should be some interesting conversations.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: If you like hearing Damon and I sing, I'm guessing that will happen quite often, to be honest with you.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: So uh that could be quite interesting.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Uh, but that I think that's enough about where we're headed.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Let's kind of settle in on a topic for this episode.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: And we wanted to do something where we ease back in a little bit.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, and I say ease back in, but we're gonna do something that's kind of controversial, and that's talk about how AI and D go together or maybe don't go together.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Guys, what uh what are your initial thoughts on this?
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: I feel like there's more than one conversation here, almost.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, right.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: And there's some there's some uh big feelings that go around this topic.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: Uh it's not new either at this point, right?
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: Like people have been talking AI now for at least a year-ish, if not more.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: Um and using it, I feel like when I first started using it, it was because of DD.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: Like that's one of the first reasons I started using it, not necessarily in my workspace or anything like that.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: I use it for some of that now, but it's an outlet.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: I I think where this gets controversial when it comes to DD Um tends to be with artwork.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, originally like Wizards, I think, had used some Wizards of the Coast, that is, used some AI-generated artwork in some of their stuff, which car caused a big backlash because uh I mean reasons were varied, but some of them were because like now you're not hiring artists, or you're not hiring people who have worked for the company, or you're not continuing to work with people who had worked for the company for years creating the artwork for all these stories, kind of thing, right?
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Uh, which is kind of an interesting uh take on it because it's like I can also see from their perspective, it's like it's a way could it be like another artist?
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Like they never said they were moving away from you using human artists at any point, at least not that I know of.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: Not that I ever saw anywhere.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's such a messy, messy decision, no matter which way you go, because it's quick to use AI art, like you can just pop it in and then it spits out an image for you.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: But a lot of times there's weird nuances with AI image generation that's just wrong, like missing fingers type of thing, or blurring of fingers, that type of thing.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So if you're trying to make it in a professional level book, you probably want to stick with a paid artist.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: I think you in essence you get what you pay for too, right?
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: We everyone's seen a bad AI, you know, generated image, right?
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: Like it's not perfect, it is a trained model, and it's there's some kind of a bias there.
- 7:10SPEAKER_03: Obviously, like that training had to be provided at some point.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: So you have to take that in consideration too.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: I I think let's let's shift gears a little bit because it's like we've heard about it from the side quite often where it's like all these things that we're talking about.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh, don't do this, don't do that, or we don't like it anymore because it's generated by AI.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: But what are the good side or what could be the good side of potentially using AI within your own personal games?
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: Because it's like think about our table.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Like, I have never commissioned a piece of art to see my character or what my character looks like, but AI can finally give me that first glimpse of what my paladin, Thorndust Bane, looks like, right?
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, I think so.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: And I I think that using it for things like that are super cool.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: It's always interesting to in in a situation like that to compare that image that you get with what you have you know, already in your mind placed.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it helps you like spawn ideas of oh yeah, he does need some sort of chest piece or or helmet that you don't normally necessarily think of when you're picturing your character.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: You might be missing out out on some of those minute details that that will spur you to add into your character sheet and start to develop your character's appearance in your head a little bit more.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: So that that's a little bit about like imaging your characters.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Now let's also think about like how can it potentially like assist a DM.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: Um, I went to Fan Expo, this has been a couple months ago now at this point, um, in Denver, and I actually attended a session that was done by uh a group called Dragonfodder.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: And one of the things that they talk about was AI assisted DMing, uh, which was really interesting because it they things we had talked about, they were actually already doing it.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: It kind of like polished some of the ways of doing that.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: For instance, they took all of their um their uh recaps, their session recaps, and drop them into chat GPT.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: And now chat GPT basically keeps the running canon of the story within itself and it's searchable.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: So like you can go in and ask it a question and it can reference and it can bring you answers from something that happened 12, 15 sessions ago, and it can just answer that question for you without you having to go find the answer or having to remember it necessarily.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: So that's a cool, unique way to do that.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: And we've even talked about doing that.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so uh since since Ross went to FanExpo and kind of brought this idea back, yeah as we're getting ready to re-kick off our campaign.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: One of the things that I was thinking through is how to, you know, as a DM take more effective notes or be a better note taker.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: Um and I think that if we do something like that with ChatGPT, but instead of relying on necessarily me providing a prompt, I want to see if we can't use a platform that transcribes our entire sessions and then feed those transcriptions into either a chat GPT or Gemini or something like that to keep track of all that information.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: Could use it for summaries, could use it to query.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: I mean, there's a lot of application there, I feel like.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: And that's something that's really e easy for us to be able to do since we're playing virtually anyway.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Uh a couple of the people at our table aren't in the same town as us, so we have to play remotely.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Uh but if you are playing around a table with a whole a whole table full of people, you could just have somebody pull out a recording app on their phone and do the same thing.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: And then take that transcription and plug it in.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yes, the the other thing that they talked about, so it's not just keeping track of like notes that you've done, but it's like you can use AI to create NPCs.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Uh so you can do like have AI generate the backstory for an NPC or something like a bartender or something like something that needs a little bit more than just a name.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: You could certainly have it come up with names, but something a little bit more.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: Um, but then if you've done that in the same place that you have all of your recaps and everything, then that character also becomes part of the cam canon and is then referenceable by Chat GPT as it knowing that it's part of the story.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: So which is a really cool thing, too.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Um and I would say that is something that I have a lot of bookmarks for on my computer already, or different builders.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: So, like a tavern builder, a city builder, a NPC builder.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I've got boatloads of websites that I've bookmarked that can do that for me.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: For me, chat GPT is another tool in the tool belt to be able to DM.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: Well, and I I think that's that's where it's like you could still use all of those tools to create whatever you need, and then Chat GPT or or uh Jim and I or whatever you want to use just becomes the organizer of all the things, it's the thing that remembers it because 50 NPCs later, uh you don't want another Bob in your story.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: And so it's like you oh crap, where who was the bart?
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: What was the bartender's name in the low lantern in Baldur's Gate?
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's what it was.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: It was Elrond.
- 12:25SPEAKER_03: No, it was Bob, but this was Bob.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: This was B-A-W-B Bob, not B-O-B Bob or B-O-B-B Bob.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Have you met Bob?
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: It's like uh a bunch of Jerry's, maybe.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: Uh the other thing that I thought was really interesting was um they would have so they have like one chat set up with like the canon and the story and everything, but then they would have a separate conversation with chat, they were using Chat GPT, but they have a separate conversation set up with Chat GPT where they could ask it questions.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: So like if something was going on between two players and they needed a ruling, but they weren't sure of the rule and they didn't want to go diving into the book, they just asked Chat GPT and it actually knows the rules because it's searched out through the internet, it knows the thing, you can go into Chat GPT and ask it to play DD and it will play DD with you.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: It's kind of a weird, funky version where you don't really roll, but it's worth a try.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: I was highly suggest you go do it because it is kind of fun.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: But it's handy if they're already in ChatGPT using it and can just add another prompt.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: It's like you're already there, so use it.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Instead of having you go off to Google and search for it, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, it slows down everything.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: I I thought it was really interesting when he was talking about like asking it on like getting a ruling on something, like he would sp he actually wrote out the prompt that he uses.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: So he would ask it the question, and then he would specifically say, What page in what book is this ruling is this rule from?
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: So it would give him PHB page 147.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: So then he could go look at the page if he really wanted to.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: So like if he wanted to see the actual verbiage to make sure that it matched, he could do that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So I thought that was a really cool way to do it.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: And it's see, it just knows those things, it knows the mechanics of the game.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: You just have to ask it whatever you need.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: So it truly could be the DM's assistant for something like this.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: I I think too, just as I've used it, I don't know, uh, for a while now.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: There's almost an art to writing prompts, if that makes sense.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: I think companies are even starting to like hire prompt writers in essence.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: But so I think kind of learning that too, or you know, finding companies that have done this before, um, just to like learn how they're doing it is helpful as well if it's kind of something that you do want to use and you'll figure it out as well.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: Like, oh well, that didn't quite work.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: Maybe I'll switch this up a little bit.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: There is kind of an art to that.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: So so let's shift gears again here and let's talk a little about where where have we, the three of us sitting here at the table, uh, where have we used Chat GPT or BAR, BAR, not BARD anymore.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Jim and I I keep doing that day.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: I was Bard when I was.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: That's because that's that DD mind of mine.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: I was like, Bard was a much better name.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Dang it.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Come on, Google.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: So uh Brett, you kick us off.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: Where where have you used it?
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Well, one of the things that we do as at our table is something that we picked up from the Dungeons and Daddies podcast, um, where we have random facts about our characters at the start of every session.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: And after 20 or 30 sessions, you start to run out of those random facts.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, but AI is a great tool to be able to be like, hey, here's some information about my character.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Give me some additional random facts based on what I already have established to fill in and continue to round out my character.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: It doesn't, I'm not taking everything off of that verbatim.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: I'm picking and choosing and still making the character my own, but it just gives us prompts to be able to do it.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Inspiration.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 16:03SPEAKER_03: I I definitely have used it for the same.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: Um, and one of the things that I specifically love about Gemini is that it'll give you three different drafts on every single one of the prompts that you submit.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: And I find that by the time I've read all three of them, like I've picked out the pieces that I want, and then you're just kind of making tweaks to fit into exactly what you want for a character.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: So I I love their version.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Um, I loved it more when it was called Bard, but that's fine.
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: Gemini is an acceptable name.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Um, but I think so anything, right?
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: Tavern names, um NPC names, which there are there are tons of name generators out there anyway, but some of them you have to like pick, oh, what kind of a name is this?
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: Is it male or female?
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: And you can just be like, hey, give me, you know, and it's super quick, you know, yeah, and can get multiple suggestions if you want.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: So I even getting down to like a regional type of name, you can just pop that into the AI and have it spit out to you region-specific types of names.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there are generators that can do that, but it's uh kind of a pain to go through.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: You have to flip it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Requires more input.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: One of the biggest places that I've used it is in preparation for re-kicking off our campaign.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: So initially, I just didn't realize that I could like drop it documents.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: So I took a bunch of notes, um, kind of summaries from our you know, descent into a Vernus campaign that we finished up and kind of gave it all of that information and is like, hey, here's kind of where I want to go.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: You know, how can I get from this published campaign to this totally different world in essence?
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: You know, and it helped bridge some of those gaps.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: And then we've gone back in and filled in a bunch of those components.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: I know Ross and I met a bunch of times kind of piecing those pieces or like getting all that kind of put back together, but it was super helpful for me to kind of bridge that and it even posed a few questions.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: It's like, hey, you've got a good start.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: Have you thought about this?
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: Like, what about this downtime?
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: And like it just had some good suggestions in there that I really liked.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: Uh I have used it uh like you two for fun facts because yes, like you just run out of stuff eventually.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: Uh, but I think I was the first one, at least here at the table, that had created an image of my character.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: Uh and tonight, before we recorded this, we went down a rabbit hole that was like five minutes and then ten minutes, and then a half hour later, we still hadn't started recording this episode because we were all trying to get it to do this.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: But oh, I've been working on my course you have.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Um, but like that's what that those happy has been.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: Uh bonus crack.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Jinx.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: Um, but it's like it's like you know, dropping a player sheet into chat GPT, having it help you summarize, although you could have easily picked out like the the physical aspects of a character and just taken it to an image generator and done that.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: Uh, but it's like the coolest thing was the first time I saw an image of what at least AI thought Thorn looked like, my paladin, and it was like it was probably in the ballpark.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: The the initial one was he was he was a little too young.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't specify age quite well enough because his how he looks age and his actual age really don't match each other, uh, especially after going to Avernus.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: Um, so I had to specify, I gave it a little background in that case, like he's aged, he's gone through some shit.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: Uh let's make him a little older, let's give him some beard, let's give him a beard, and it's gotta be gray.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, and then it gave me kind of the in the ballpark of the image that I was thinking of.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: So it was really cool to see him come to life in that aspect.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Uh, but that's a good example of, you know, I really wasn't prepared to pay to commission somebody to create an image of him.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: AI could do that for me for free.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: And it's like if I ever want that done, I could totally do that.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: But now I have a much clearer idea of what he looks like.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: So that's actually probably would help me in the long run.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I think you after putting in like Ari, my main my main character, uh, into the image generator, it was nowhere close to what I was picturing.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Uh which kind of makes me a little hesitant to be like pass off what I have today to an artist if they were to try and make it.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Because they maybe would end up with the same thing that AI did, which is not what it is in my head.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: So I need to go through and round out what I'm putting in there a little bit more to help get it closer.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Well, and I it's a refinement process over time.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's like when it's like if you went back and read your your player sheet, like it gave the basics of what it looks like, which is probably represented in that image, but it's like it it filled in the gaps, yeah, which was not what you wanted.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Now you know where the gaps are that you need to go back and say, hey, change his haircut.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Uh so yeah, I I I think it's a very useful tool.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: Um, what final thoughts do you guys have?
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Just just just general use.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: How do you feel about it?
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Phil, let's start with you.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: I I'm pretty supportive of it.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: Obviously, there I don't want it to ever take away from artists, right?
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: Like that is I would never want it to stand in between like that.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: However, as a DM using it to help me out, that I'm a huge proponent of for anywhere it can help me, truthfully.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: For me, there are especially when we play online, there are just so many possible ways that you can add images and pictures into your game, especially if you're playing virtually, that if you were to try and pay an artist for all of those, whoo, good luck.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Um, even taking wizards wizards of the coast official images of certain things like monsters and stuff, sometimes it's not exactly what you're looking for.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: You might need a little bit of variation on something that's in the monster manual.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: You can't necessarily find the right image that fits what you're trying to do.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: But if you can take that picture and run it through AI to adapt that monster to fit what you're trying to do, great.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: Uh I I agree with both of you guys.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: I I I would not want to take away anybody's livelihood just to cut some corners somewhere.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, but with that said, I I think there's a lot of positives to it when it comes to help running a game.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: And I think the main one for me would be it's like if you've ever DM'd a game, everybody at this table has, but if you're out there listening and you've ever run a game, you know how like when in the heat of a moment somebody asks a question or something happens, you're like, oh crap, I don't know the answer to that.
- 22:59SPEAKER_02: AI can help you with that.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: Like it's easy to type a quick prompt as a question and have it help you with something, or give you direction to where you can find an answer to that, which I think is some maybe one of the most valuable things that it could offer right now to new DMs, even to new players uh who are creating characters and things like that, too.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: So, anyway, with that said, that's gonna do it for this episode of Bards and Barrels.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, you can listen to past episodes of the show anywhere podcasts can be found.
