- 0:40Speaker 1: From me Sorry, sorry, sorry, Hey. This week we talked

- 0:48Speaker 1: and tricks and how not to lose your mind this
- 0:50Speaker 1: summer when it feels like you're just going to be
- 0:53Speaker 1: like a reverse slot machine, just spitting your money out
- 0:57Speaker 1: at Wow, that was a terrible analogy. Let's move on
- 0:59Speaker 1: from that. You can also find us on Instagram, where

- 1:25Speaker 1: sometimes I forget that I need to add that note,
- 1:28Speaker 1: But yes, we haven't received a Hallmark related email in
- 1:31Speaker 1: a really long time. Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Let us know if you agree with these reviews, disagree,
- 1:38Speaker 1: have thoughts whatever, We're open to hearing them. Yeah, and

- 1:43Speaker 1: you know where you can do that. Yeah, Facebook group,
- 1:45Speaker 1: that's right popping over there.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Romance to the Rescue? Do we have a synopsis?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Is that what you were frantically searching for?
- 1:53Speaker 1: No, it was not, it was not, it was not. Okay,
- 1:56Speaker 1: the synopsis for Romance to the Rescue. To impress a
- 2:00Speaker 1: potential love interest, Kira enters her dog in an agility show.
- 2:05Speaker 1: The problem is she has no dog, so she needs
- 2:08Speaker 1: to find and train one and quick stars Andrea Brooks,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Marcus Rosner and Nova as Sam the dog.
- 2:19Speaker 2: What is that about the whole movie?
- 2:21Speaker 1: This whole movie? Yeah? Notes Ecusan notes. We've been doing
- 2:27Speaker 1: Hallmark news and notes lately, but there's really not much
- 2:29Speaker 1: When Calls the Heart had their season finale this weekend,
- 2:33Speaker 1: which Twitter was a buzz about because apparently Hallmark had
- 2:36Speaker 1: a chiron across the bottom that said series finale and
- 2:38Speaker 1: everyone lost their mind and they were like, don't do
- 2:41Speaker 1: this to us.
- 2:41Speaker 2: And then it changed. What do you mean?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Like they were calling it a series finale on the
- 2:48Speaker 1: like ticker below. Yes, and it's not technically the series
- 2:52Speaker 1: finale because Chesapeake Shores is ending. But when Calls the
- 2:56Speaker 1: Heart is not ending.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think Chesapeake Shores ended.
- 2:58Speaker 1: No, I don't know, okay, but they have not made
- 3:02Speaker 1: any announcement to the fact that one Calls the Heart
- 3:05Speaker 1: is ending.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And Twitter was a buzz. It was a Twitter because.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They were saying, when chester Peak Shores ended, we got
- 3:11Speaker 1: so much promo that this is the final season. Yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it was just a mistake. Hallmark actually corrected it and
- 3:17Speaker 1: then people were posting pictures of the correct like wile
- 3:20Speaker 1: the Move finale airing, they evidently they were like, oops, typo,
- 3:25Speaker 1: sorry are bad. Wow. But no other news and notes,
- 3:30Speaker 1: no exclusive deals signed in the last week. No, we're
- 3:33Speaker 1: just ramping up for summer and we have a summer
- 3:35Speaker 1: preview episode coming where we will talk about that. So
- 3:41Speaker 1: much of the news and notes has.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Been related to that, but we're not talking about that now.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Okay, Well I have tons of news and notes for
- 3:47Speaker 1: this movie.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Mm hm.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Heather Hawthorne Doyle directed this movie. She has over thirty
- 3:52Speaker 1: directing credits, including movies we've recently reviewed, Advice to Love
- 3:57Speaker 1: By and A Little Daytime Drama, which I remember not
- 4:01Speaker 1: liking a Little Daytime Drama at all.
- 4:03Speaker 2: That's because it was paved, it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Was paid, Babyfied, Babyfied. No, it's because it has that
- 4:10Speaker 1: actress that I don't like in it. That everybody loves Lily.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I don't find her entertaining at She also has directed
- 4:17Speaker 1: a couple of the Godwink Christmas movies, so I mean she's,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, not new to the Hallmark directing game.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Indeed, she's not at all.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I'm also not new to the Hallmark game is writer
- 4:29Speaker 1: Barbara Kimlica, who also wrote Don't Forget That I Love You,
- 4:33Speaker 1: a movie that we thought was okay, it was okay,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and Baby It's Cold Inside, a movie we definitely disliked.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I Yeah, No, I didn't like that movie at all.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I remember. It was mostly because it was like I
- 4:44Speaker 1: would never stay in that ice hotel. Yeah. I couldn't
- 4:47Speaker 1: get into it. I was where do you pee? Where
- 4:50Speaker 1: do you pee? Now? I had this conversation with my
- 4:52Speaker 1: mother in law just recently, who was like, that's one
- 4:55Speaker 1: of her like life goals is to stay in ice hotel.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And I was like, no, no, no, no, no no no
- 4:58Speaker 1: no no. That sounds awful. Well it's not my life goal,
- 5:02Speaker 1: but it's hers, you know, and it does.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It sounds miserable.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And Wendy mentioned that Sam in this movie is played
- 5:07Speaker 1: by a dog named Nova, and Nova performs in a
- 5:09Speaker 1: dog show in Vancouver every year, a dog agility show.
- 5:13Speaker 2: As per Heather Hawthorne Noyle's.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Twitter feed, Oh Sam to dogg was real cute, real cute.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Those eyes so pretty one of the I don't even
- 5:22Speaker 1: know what kind of dog that was. Well in the movie,
- 5:26Speaker 1: we'll talk about it. Oh thanks, you got the info.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Andrea Brooks plays Kira. She's got a ton of acting credits,
- 5:34Speaker 1: mostly known for Wynn Calls the Heart. I've never seen
- 5:38Speaker 1: her in a Hallmark movie. That's because this is her
- 5:42Speaker 1: first leading role on the Hallmark channel, and many reviewers
- 5:46Speaker 1: were happy to see her take the lead. So She's
- 5:48Speaker 1: only been in Wynn Calls the Heart on Hallmark. Then
- 5:52Speaker 1: she may have been in supporting roles in other movies,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but this was her first.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Lead actress role.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Got it. IMDb says that she was also in Unreal
- 6:00Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen. You know who else was in Unreal?
- 6:03Speaker 1: I do, Marcus Rossner. I saw that on six episodes.
- 6:07Speaker 1: But what's interesting is I think this might be the
- 6:09Speaker 1: first Hallmark movie of Marcus Rossner's that we've girls gone Hallmarked.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think it is because I'm not familiar with him
- 6:15Speaker 1: at all. He was in the original Christmas in Evergreen,
- 6:19Speaker 1: but that was from twenty seventeen, and I don't believe
- 6:22Speaker 1: I've seen any of his other Hallmark movie. Where's he
- 6:25Speaker 1: been in the last few years He's been working, but
- 6:27Speaker 1: I've just been missing them. This was a Johnson Production
- 6:31Speaker 1: Group movie. Now, if you're in our Girl's Gone Hallmark
- 6:36Speaker 1: Facebook group, we had a big discussion about Johnson Production Group.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So this was a Hallmark acquisition. Yes it was. That
- 6:48Speaker 2: informs me quite a bit.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Why now, because it's garbage? It was terrible, right, But
- 6:54Speaker 1: we've got Hallmark writers and Hallmark directors attached, and Hallmark
- 6:57Speaker 1: actors but they just I guess, created this movie and
- 7:01Speaker 1: hoped Hallmark would just snap it up. Fill in, fill
- 7:04Speaker 1: it in.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I guess.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So, so let me just give a little bit of
- 7:07Speaker 1: background on Johnson Production Group. I'm gonna tell you some
- 7:10Speaker 1: of the movies they've done. They have done recently, Romance
- 7:13Speaker 1: to the Rescue, Warming Up to You, road Trip, Romance, Feeling, Butterflies,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Where Your Heart Belongs, and then a couple of ones
- 7:25Speaker 1: that were not picked up by Hallmarks. So they're partners,
- 7:30Speaker 1: as I understand it, they meet, the production company, makes
- 7:33Speaker 1: these movies and then they're sold to a network to
- 7:37Speaker 1: networks including Amazon, Netflix, iTunes, Hulu, Disney, Lifetime Movie Network,
- 7:44Speaker 1: ABC Family, Crown Media, which is Hallmark, ABC, Fox, WB Lifetime,
- 7:51Speaker 1: up TV. I mean, they have a ton of partners
- 7:54Speaker 1: that they sell these movies to. But my what I
- 7:58Speaker 1: don't really understand is like if if I'm a production company,
- 8:01Speaker 1: say Megan and when you want to start a production company,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and then we just like finance a movie and we
- 8:06Speaker 1: make it and then we hope, like Hallmark buys it
- 8:10Speaker 1: or somebody buys it. They must have some sort of
- 8:12Speaker 1: deal in place or some sort of going into it.
- 8:17Speaker 2: They just must know.
- 8:18Speaker 1: There's no way they're just creating all of these movies
- 8:21Speaker 1: without some sort of knowledge that they're going to get
- 8:24Speaker 1: purchased right or maybe they have a purchase.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Agreement in advance.
- 8:29Speaker 1: That's maybe they say, here's the synopsis, here's the actors
- 8:31Speaker 1: that are attached.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Do you want to buy this movie?
- 8:34Speaker 1: Okay, So three of these movies premiered in May, and
- 8:39Speaker 1: we were worried that May was going to be kind
- 8:42Speaker 1: of a not a great month and has proven to be.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So do you think Hallmark just didn't have anything, like
- 8:49Speaker 1: they were not producing anything, Crown Media was not producing anything.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Or maybe that they planned for it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Maybe they say, we've got a strong start to the year,
- 8:58Speaker 1: We're going to put all our money into summer, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: we're just gonna fill in the spots because nobody is
- 9:04Speaker 1: like what's on Hallmark Channel in May. I'm turn into
- 9:06Speaker 1: Hallmark for my May programming. They're a Hallmark for Christmas,
- 9:12Speaker 1: a little bit for Fall, and then I think Summer
- 9:15Speaker 1: might be it's maybe second or third biggest season, so
- 9:18Speaker 1: it's just placeholder, filler fluff. I'm kind of hoping that
- 9:22Speaker 1: Hallmark right now is really working on quality fall in
- 9:26Speaker 1: Christmas movies. Yeah, that is my hope. Yeah, let's hope
- 9:30Speaker 1: we have not peaked. Yes, yes, yes, this movie was
- 9:35Speaker 1: originally titled Sit Stay Love. I saw that. I think
- 9:37Speaker 1: they should have kept it. Yeah, I think it's kind
- 9:40Speaker 1: of cute. I think Sit Stay Love is better.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Well, I think it stands out more.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Romance to the Rescue, road trip Romance, a Royal runaway romance.
- 9:48Speaker 1: All of these alliterative titles just recently are all running
- 9:52Speaker 1: together in my mind, and I would have liked something
- 9:56Speaker 1: that stands out a little bit more. Yeah, none of
- 9:58Speaker 1: them stand out right, especially for someone like you would
- 10:00Speaker 1: be like, what was that romance movie? Like, you know, yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 1: the one with the dog. Well, I think there's two
- 10:05Speaker 1: this year with the dog, so right, yes, Field in Langley,
- 10:10Speaker 1: British Columbia. Heavy dot Com estimates that this movie had
- 10:13Speaker 1: a two million dollar budget.
- 10:14Speaker 2: That's proud on parl we usually see night, I guess.
- 10:17Speaker 1: So. I also saw that they sometimes use a puppy
- 10:20Speaker 1: stand in for Nova the sam the dog. I did
- 10:24Speaker 1: not know that it was like a stuffed dog, like
- 10:25Speaker 1: not like a real not like it was like a
- 10:27Speaker 1: stuffed animal, you know, but like look like the dog
- 10:29Speaker 1: a high quality one, I guess. I mean like one
- 10:32Speaker 1: of the actors is like holding it in an Instagram photo.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I will drop a photo of that in our show.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Note, well look at that.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Would you like to move on to first impressions? Sure?
- 10:41Speaker 1: What's yours?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Wolf? You win and yours? You're making me dread Saturday Nights, Hammark?
- 10:53Speaker 1: I know, right, I don't usually watch these on Saturday nights,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but I was like, I'm gonna get her done because
- 11:00Speaker 1: then I was very busy Sunday and then sometimes it
- 11:01Speaker 1: just hangs over my head and I just put it
- 11:03Speaker 1: off and put it off even more. I was like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm not knock this out. I was like, I wanted
- 11:08Speaker 1: to turn it off the entire time, but I had
- 11:11Speaker 1: to finish it. That wasn't an option. So I was like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: Wendy and I were texting him like I'm just powering through,
- 11:16Speaker 1: hating every.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Minute of this.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. So is there anything you liked
- 11:22Speaker 1: about this movie? Well, my favorite person in this movie
- 11:26Speaker 1: was Mark, who's played by actor Benjamin Watson. He was great,
- 11:30Speaker 1: found him charming, found him fun. I liked his relationship
- 11:35Speaker 1: with the dog. I don't know.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I thought it was cute.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Although I'm not quite sure why the dog needed a
- 11:39Speaker 1: babysitter when they went out, because he was like destroying stuff.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They built the custom doghouse.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I know that dog house was real cute. Yeah, I'll
- 11:47Speaker 1: tell you more about that at all, but cute. Yes,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I enjoyed him. I'd like to see more. Benjamin Watson.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I only have two likes for this movie, and one
- 12:01Speaker 1: is one I wrote in my notes app on Saturday
- 12:06Speaker 1: night while I was watching this, and I wrote you
- 12:08Speaker 1: that those dimples on Trainer Kevin your Ken's real cute.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And there is a line from Kira Andrea Brooks where
- 12:19Speaker 1: she says something about his dimples. Oh, and it's ad
- 12:21Speaker 1: libbed and they left it in. Oh really do you
- 12:24Speaker 1: know the line? I could look it up. Hold on,
- 12:26Speaker 1: I will sorry, don means for you to actually do work.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Was the line something like let me lick those dimples
- 12:35Speaker 1: or I'm trying to think of some sort of dog.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Pun that could have been used.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Andrea Brooks tweeted, dying at the fact they kept my improved.
- 12:51Speaker 2: She wrote improved.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Line about baby Marcus Rosner's very pronounced dimples, and she
- 12:58Speaker 1: says at HHDTV, which Heather Hawthorne Doyle's Twitter handle, how.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Did you put up with us?
- 13:03Speaker 1: And HHD responds, here's my rule.
- 13:05Speaker 2: When the ad lib makes a smile or laugh, it's
- 13:07Speaker 2: days but we don't know the line very pronounced dimples.
- 13:11Speaker 1: That's what she's said. That's funny.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'm just a reporter, y okay, all right?
- 13:22Speaker 1: Alright then, And like I mentioned before, I really liked
- 13:25Speaker 1: the dog. I also liked Sam I thought, I said,
- 13:29Speaker 1: as much as I'm loath to admit it, Sam was
- 13:31Speaker 1: pretty great, very and obviously very well trained dog, Like
- 13:35Speaker 1: you could tell by the way like he sat at
- 13:36Speaker 1: the feet and kind of like backed up and wait,
- 13:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I do not own a well trained dog,
- 13:40Speaker 1: so I'm good at spotting when they are well I
- 13:42Speaker 1: think like movie dogs are probably like very well trained.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I had noticed like at times the dog was like
- 13:48Speaker 1: looking off you, beyond the direction. I was really into
- 13:54Speaker 1: what the dog was doing. The only other thing I
- 13:57Speaker 1: liked was Lucy Guest, who plays Kevin's sister.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I don't remember her name.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I mean, you know why, because she's not listed in
- 14:02Speaker 1: the IMDb credits of this movie. So Kevin's sister. I'm
- 14:06Speaker 1: so sorry. I don't remember anyone's name from this movie.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Had to look them all up, but I thought you
- 14:10Speaker 1: were a delight lucy guest. Somebody's assistant needs to get
- 14:14Speaker 1: on the IMDb and get that filled out. Yeah, okay,
- 14:19Speaker 1: so what did we wish for? Well? I got one
- 14:22Speaker 1: and only one. Okay, I wished for script editing ranks.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Give it to me.
- 14:27Speaker 1: This movie is so beyond contrived. Okay, you met this
- 14:30Speaker 1: dude for five minutes and you're making up an entirely
- 14:32Speaker 1: separate life that he'll fit into. Are you talking about
- 14:35Speaker 1: Kevin the trainer or the other dude that worked at
- 14:37Speaker 1: the groceries?
- 14:38Speaker 2: The other dude that works at the grocery store. So
- 14:41Speaker 2: she has decided that he checks some box.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So she's like, oh, let me make myself a completely
- 14:47Speaker 1: different person so that I can match up to this
- 14:50Speaker 1: person who meets some criteria for me. Now, maybe this
- 14:53Speaker 1: is the old married lady speaking, but that sounds exhausting.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, who wants to do that?
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah? Find someone that actually really fits into your life.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And it was so clear that those two co workers
- 15:03Speaker 1: already had it for each other, and she's just like,
- 15:07Speaker 1: try to wed your way in there. M M. Talking
- 15:10Speaker 1: about her fa them Barkie. She was Sparky blockin Sparky
- 15:15Speaker 1: blockin Yeah So I found Andrea Brooks her character unlikable
- 15:21Speaker 1: in this movie. It was the hardcore list making at
- 15:25Speaker 1: the very beginning, which I thought that you might really
- 15:27Speaker 1: like because you're a list maker. But she was like,
- 15:31Speaker 1: get job check, become product manager check. I was just
- 15:36Speaker 1: like what and then and then get a partner, like
- 15:40Speaker 1: when she had all these like personal professional goals and
- 15:43Speaker 1: then like one for her love life.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I love a list.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't deny it, but I like an actionable list
- 15:49Speaker 1: of things that I can achieve, and those kind of
- 15:52Speaker 1: big picture lists, like it's almost like a what do
- 15:55Speaker 1: we call those? Not a mood board, vision board. That's
- 16:01Speaker 1: really not for me. I'm not woo woo in that way.
- 16:03Speaker 1: M hmm. And like the check I've never understood I've
- 16:08Speaker 1: only ever seen it in movies, but the checklist, the
- 16:11Speaker 1: actual checklist of what you want in a partner never no,
- 16:16Speaker 1: you're working backwards. You need to have chemistry with a person,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you need to enjoy their company, and then you kind
- 16:22Speaker 1: of do the pragmatic like do we actually fit into
- 16:25Speaker 1: each other's lives thing? I mean and I think that's
- 16:27Speaker 1: what eventually happened with Kevin the trainer. Yes, she didn't,
- 16:32Speaker 1: she wasn't like looking for it with him. So therefore,
- 16:36Speaker 1: you know, except for like the gluten free and you know,
- 16:40Speaker 1: those things fit into her life or whatever. But right,
- 16:44Speaker 1: so to your point about Andrea Brooks character Kira being
- 16:48Speaker 1: a little insufferable in this movie, one of our lovely
- 16:51Speaker 1: Facebook group members Michael. Look. We shout out Michael every
- 16:54Speaker 1: week because Michael brings it every week.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Guys, every week, It's one of my favorites.
- 16:59Speaker 1: He has several comments, but he says, apparently there is
- 17:03Speaker 1: now a Cindy Busby character type identified in casting. Andrea
- 17:06Speaker 1: Brooks is full Busby in every scene. Full Busby had
- 17:10Speaker 1: me on the floor Saturday night when I was well,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I was on my couch, but I thought it was
- 17:15Speaker 1: so funny. We're gonna give a full Busby award now
- 17:19Speaker 1: for every movie I forget Wowie Zowie, well I I
- 17:28Speaker 1: wish for I thought this movie was such a stinker.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I thought the story was such a stinker, Like it
- 17:33Speaker 1: was all over the place in terms of what like
- 17:36Speaker 1: Kira wanted. And when the movie started, I was like, wait,
- 17:40Speaker 1: this is about dog training, because I thought it was
- 17:42Speaker 1: about like she was working hard for the money, getting
- 17:45Speaker 1: a job, you know, and then this whole dog training
- 17:49Speaker 1: storyline came through and I just was like, it's just
- 17:54Speaker 1: not entertaining. She has on her list develop a product
- 18:00Speaker 1: but has no idea, just like sometime down the line,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I like to develop some sort of product, but I
- 18:06Speaker 1: don't have any particular passion for anything, right, Like, it's
- 18:09Speaker 1: not like I'm going to bake something or I'm going
- 18:12Speaker 1: to develop something gluten free or it's none of that. Right.
- 18:15Speaker 1: She fell into making dog biscuits, which great, fine, but
- 18:20Speaker 1: because the dog didn't like the one that she was
- 18:23Speaker 1: shelling at the store, she made a big, big like
- 18:28Speaker 1: she was in the poster of the brand. How does
- 18:32Speaker 1: that work? Actually? How does the what is her job
- 18:36Speaker 1: there at the grocery store?
- 18:38Speaker 2: She's like the buyer or merchandiser.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Merchandiser or whatever. You don't end up in the product promotional. No,
- 18:46Speaker 1: they should have paid her for that.
- 18:47Speaker 2: She should have been compensated for that.
- 18:49Speaker 1: She did not understand at all. It was so weird,
- 18:53Speaker 1: but she like fell into like, oh, here's my product
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm going to make. I'm going to make these dog biscuits.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's okay, okay, And it wasn't even her idea, it
- 19:02Speaker 1: was Kevin's idea. Now, maybe you should make these biscuits
- 19:05Speaker 1: for dogs because your dog likes them. Also disclaimer, uh,
- 19:11Speaker 1: gluten free as a diet is not recommended for dogs
- 19:14Speaker 1: as like a blanket recommendation. It can actually be quite
- 19:17Speaker 1: damaging to their So, so look at you.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So unless your dog.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Because gluten free has become a buzzword. There was actually
- 19:22Speaker 1: a big article about that's being like, we're seeing dogs
- 19:24Speaker 1: with cardiac problems because they've been fed these gluten free
- 19:27Speaker 1: diets because their owners are like, gluten free is better
- 19:30Speaker 1: for my dog. Not all gluten is bad unless your
- 19:34Speaker 1: dog specifically needs a gluten free diet. Yeah, don't make
- 19:37Speaker 1: that decision without the help of your vet. That's not
- 19:39Speaker 1: to say that a gluten free treat is a problem
- 19:41Speaker 1: if they're getting in in other parts of their diet,
- 19:44Speaker 1: but just something.
- 19:45Speaker 2: You should be aware of. Let's let's put that out there.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Okay, Doctor Meghan, I have a few Did you see that?
- 19:52Speaker 1: This one's kind of random. Do you think Andrea Brooks
- 19:57Speaker 1: looks like former American idol can winner Mattie Poppy, Oh.
- 20:03Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna show you a picture. She looks just like her.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Did you see when Matti Poppy came back this season?
- 20:09Speaker 2: She doesn't really look like that. She doesn't look like
- 20:10Speaker 2: that anymore.
- 20:11Speaker 1: No, but they get that cute round face, cute cheeks.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I'm telling you, same teeth and mouth too. I'm gonna
- 20:17Speaker 1: drop a picture in our show notes. I think this
- 20:20Speaker 1: is like her doppelganger, like out in the world. And
- 20:23Speaker 1: while I was watching the movie, I was like, that
- 20:25Speaker 1: looks like the chick from American idol Mattie Poppy.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, good eye, all.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Right, So Nova slash Sam in the movie, she is
- 20:36Speaker 1: a Australian Shepherd border Calli mix.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I think she's she looks like a border calling to me.
- 20:43Speaker 2: But my question is what kind of.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Rescue lets someone adopt an Australian Shepherd border Calli mix
- 20:51Speaker 1: without some sort of education, because these are working dogs.
- 20:56Speaker 1: This dog is, yeah, it's gonna tear up your house
- 20:58Speaker 1: if they don't have sort of enrichment and exercise and
- 21:04Speaker 1: probably containment.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And as soon as.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I mean, she was a beautiful dog, but those are
- 21:10Speaker 1: working dogs. They got stuff to do. So I would
- 21:13Speaker 1: think the rescue would know that, And why wouldn't they say, like,
- 21:16Speaker 1: this dog is very high energy, maybe we steer you
- 21:19Speaker 1: towards a beagle. People. Well, I think that's what rescues do,
- 21:24Speaker 1: don't they Like, isn't there like a vetting process, Like
- 21:28Speaker 1: they're not just gonna give like a high energy dog
- 21:31Speaker 1: to someone who is not.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Home all day.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Right, That's been my experience. I own two vshless who
- 21:37Speaker 1: are working dogs, who are high energy dogs, and while
- 21:40Speaker 1: they are not rescues, I do follow visa rescues who
- 21:46Speaker 1: have strict rules, yes, about placing dogs and homes where
- 21:50Speaker 1: they're not home. Yes. Yeah, he did ask like how
- 21:55Speaker 1: long will a dog be home alone? She's like, I'll
- 21:57Speaker 1: come home at lunch to walk it now, which is
- 21:59Speaker 1: not enough. Yeah, Okay, Sam's creat we talked about Heather
- 22:04Speaker 1: Hawthorne Doyle per Her. Twitter wanted a unique crate, and
- 22:08Speaker 1: the production designer Onset built that crate for Sam. I
- 22:11Speaker 1: thought it was super cute, very cute. If you got
- 22:13Speaker 1: to have a dog crate in your house, get that one.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I now I have an ugly metal one.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 1: She had her little nose sticking out of it at
- 22:19Speaker 1: one point she was just like peeking out. Was very cute.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I don't think that was enough room though for that dog.
- 22:23Speaker 2: No, but I don't think she was actually in there
- 22:25Speaker 2: for very long.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I know. I just think it gives unrealistic. Yes, the
- 22:29Speaker 1: dog makes room to move, especially an adult dog. Yes, yes, yes,
- 22:33Speaker 1: but real cute. I believe this to be the same
- 22:36Speaker 1: filming location as warming up to you.
- 22:38Speaker 2: The cabins are identical.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I agree.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I looked.
- 22:42Speaker 1: There's no information about where those cabins are, which is
- 22:45Speaker 1: odd to me. Me too, it's so cute, like I
- 22:48Speaker 1: want to go stay there right, I would think they
- 22:50Speaker 1: would want to be driving people there. There is a
- 22:53Speaker 1: scene when Kira takes Sam for a walk. She's with Kevin,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and Kevin's like great handling the dog like no problem,
- 23:00Speaker 1: and then Kira goes to like walk the dog and
- 23:02Speaker 1: the dog bolts, and I was like, that's highly relatable
- 23:05Speaker 1: for me, is it? My dog is such yet terrible
- 23:08Speaker 1: on leash, so like yes, I was like, yeah, my
- 23:11Speaker 1: dog pulls me like that, Like I felt her pain,
- 23:15Speaker 1: you know, even though I was somebody. Oscaren was like nova,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you know with treats turkey leg and so there is
- 23:25Speaker 1: you know where this is going a TikToker I follow,
- 23:28Speaker 1: who is like a full time influencer. But she was like,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I think I'm going to sign up to walk dogs
- 23:31Speaker 1: and then she's donating all the proceeds from being a
- 23:36Speaker 1: wag dog walker to a dog rescue, and it's become like,
- 23:39Speaker 1: you know, it's a source of content. But she's like
- 23:42Speaker 1: when I walk dogs all day long and she's like
- 23:46Speaker 1: a small person, Like she's, you know, a slim, young girl.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And she walked this dog who I guess like took
- 23:54Speaker 1: off and like dragged her down the street and she
- 23:55Speaker 1: was just like covered in blood. She's like, well, I
- 23:58Speaker 1: guess them's the breaks, like covered in blood.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Like her leg was like ripped up.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. People were like it's giving emergency room, like,
- 24:07Speaker 1: oh my goodness. But it's actually quite enjoyable content because
- 24:11Speaker 1: she like goes and walks all these dogs. But uh
- 24:13Speaker 1: yeah that dog. So she like talks to her phone
- 24:16Speaker 1: and like you know, is making video while she's walking
- 24:19Speaker 1: the dog part of it, yeah, and like sets it
- 24:21Speaker 1: up while she's like meeting the dogs. That's the phone up.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That's cute. I'd watch that content, yeah, even though I
- 24:28Speaker 1: have my own dog, and I don't like to walk
- 24:30Speaker 1: my dog, Oh totally. I would much rather watch someone
- 24:33Speaker 1: else meet these dogs and walk them. How much money
- 24:37Speaker 1: she makes from that? I know you say that she
- 24:39Speaker 1: is donating whatever, but.
- 24:43Speaker 2: It's not a lot. She showed it one time, she
- 24:45Speaker 2: like showed her dashboard.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I mean it's not The fee is pretty hefty for
- 24:48Speaker 1: a dog walk. I have used it in the past. Well,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I think WAG takes a pretty hefty chunk of your proceeds,
- 24:55Speaker 1: so I think you would have to be pretty full
- 24:57Speaker 1: time for you to be making a good amount of money.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Just imaginet the like miles you're logging right.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Part of me is like, should I sign up to
- 25:07Speaker 1: be a WAG dog walker with my own dog sitting
- 25:10Speaker 1: right here? I know, I know, but she has to
- 25:13Speaker 1: go into these people's homes and get the dog.
- 25:15Speaker 2: That makes me nervous.
- 25:16Speaker 1: That makes me super in nervous too. Whenever I used WAG,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I was always home and just turned over the answer yes.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And then you know, you can like watch them on
- 25:25Speaker 1: your phone to see like where they're at, updated, if
- 25:27Speaker 1: your dog has gone number two and whatever. It's a
- 25:31Speaker 1: lot of details and they usually send you a picture
- 25:33Speaker 1: to you, but it's pretty expensive.
- 25:36Speaker 2: It's like sixty bucks.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I think, oh, she's not making that hers, or like
- 25:39Speaker 1: twelve dollars, seventeen dollars. That's like an hour because I
- 25:42Speaker 1: think you walk them for like sixty minutes or whatever.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Goodness, that's expensive.
- 25:47Speaker 1: These are things to keep in mind if you want
- 25:48Speaker 1: a dog, because they're gonna need to walk, and if
- 25:51Speaker 1: you're not home during the day, you're gonna be wagging it,
- 25:54Speaker 1: wagging it for sure. Did you notice that Kia wore
- 25:56Speaker 1: the same suit over and over in this movie. It
- 25:59Speaker 1: was kind of like a pink well, oh yeah, like
- 26:02Speaker 1: at first it was like just the pants on the top,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and then like the jacket came in a little bit later,
- 26:06Speaker 1: and then the top would be changed and then yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 1: O hey, I don't I actually don't hate that because
- 26:12Speaker 1: I know, but you just don't see.
- 26:13Speaker 2: It that often. No, I didn't love her.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Lanyard well, I think that was just a part of
- 26:20Speaker 1: like the employee, and even director Heather Hawthorne Doyle said
- 26:24Speaker 1: that wardrobe had to work around lanyard friendly clothing options
- 26:28Speaker 1: so that it was like, you know, so it.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Worked with the outfit.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Okay, hey, do you remember the scene where they're driving
- 26:35Speaker 1: and Sam's hanging sat out of the window. No, but
- 26:40Speaker 1: it was shot with a growbro Oh really, Oh that's funny.
- 26:46Speaker 1: They put it on the dog. No, on the car
- 26:48Speaker 1: shooting back at the dog. So he's like happy out
- 26:51Speaker 1: the window, wind blowing in his Oh. I see. That
- 26:53Speaker 1: always makes me nervous. And this is this is not
- 26:56Speaker 1: a dog podcast. But when I see dogs heads hanging
- 26:59Speaker 1: out the window like that, that's such a like a oh,
- 27:01Speaker 1: it terrifies me. Accident waiting now, I agree. Or people
- 27:05Speaker 1: are driving and their windows all the way down and
- 27:07Speaker 1: the dog is like pause up on the window. I'm like,
- 27:09Speaker 1: how do you know your dog's not gonna leap out
- 27:12Speaker 1: that window?
- 27:13Speaker 2: I know, people, this.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Is my oh hi squirrel. This is my biggest complaint
- 27:17Speaker 1: about dog owners is that they have entirely too much
- 27:19Speaker 1: trust in their animals to not do something just because
- 27:22Speaker 1: they've never done it before. They're like, be off leash
- 27:24Speaker 1: and they're like they don't run until a rabbit runs
- 27:26Speaker 1: in front of them, or they don't jump until something
- 27:28Speaker 1: they really want is I would never if my dog
- 27:31Speaker 1: was on the front seat like that, not leave the
- 27:33Speaker 1: window down. No, And it makes it. Now, I am
- 27:36Speaker 1: guilty of having my dog in the front seat, and
- 27:38Speaker 1: I always think about, oh my god, what if I
- 27:39Speaker 1: gotten a car accident and the airbags went off and the.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Dog would probably be dead.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Yeah, get a dog seatbelt so you can clip them
- 27:49Speaker 1: into place. We had a tiny, little puppy basket that
- 27:51Speaker 1: he would clip into, but he's too big for it.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Now that dog's too big for a puppy basket. She's
- 27:58Speaker 1: got like a tiny which is he weigh ten pounds?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, he's like a cat. Come on, that's
- 28:05Speaker 2: a great dog. I love your dog. My final note is.
- 28:09Speaker 1: KK nine is a terrible name, the worst K nine
- 28:14Speaker 1: treats or whatever. She I mean, real basic, but like
- 28:17Speaker 1: she's like, hey, you're Kevin, I'm Kira. We'll call it
- 28:20Speaker 1: KK nine.
- 28:21Speaker 2: It was just so.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Dumb, very dumb, Like yum yum treats would have been better.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Give me some yum.
- 28:30Speaker 2: GF treats.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I don't know something happy tummy treats because they're gluten
- 28:34Speaker 1: freeze exactly.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 1: KK nine sounds like KKW, like KKW beauty. It's when
- 28:43Speaker 1: it's only funny to you, right, it doesn't you got Yeah, No,
- 28:48Speaker 1: KK nine boo. Yeah, I watched enough Shark Tank to
- 28:51Speaker 1: know that that name is Yeah, mister Wonderful will be
- 28:54Speaker 1: like this product name sucks, and for that reason, I'm out.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah, the rebrand will be too expensive.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Let's talk ratings. You know, the past couple movies have
- 29:08Speaker 1: been so offensive that I've had to rate them that way.
- 29:10Speaker 2: This is like a one and a.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Half star for me. I gave it one star, just
- 29:13Speaker 1: oooh so floring. It was just not good. It wasn't good,
- 29:19Speaker 1: and I'm kind of mad about it because because I
- 29:22Speaker 1: don't want to waste my time. Yeah, I hear, you
- 29:26Speaker 1: don't waste your time on this one. Yeah, skip this one.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Totally go back and watch Love Classified if you haven't
- 29:30Speaker 1: watched it this year. That would be my number one
- 29:32Speaker 1: recommendation for this year. I agree. We are making an
- 29:37Speaker 1: executive decision to skip Rip in Time, not because we
- 29:41Speaker 1: don't want to watch it. It's it's it's a life
- 29:44Speaker 1: time constraint on our end life. But next week we
- 29:47Speaker 1: will be back with a preview of Summer Nights movies,
- 29:50Speaker 1: which begin on Saturday, June fourth. We will give you
- 29:53Speaker 1: all of our thoughts on the movies that are coming
- 29:55Speaker 1: up and honestly, it has to get better. Did you
- 29:59Speaker 1: see the previous did you see the previews.
- 30:01Speaker 2: For The Lost Ring?
- 30:03Speaker 1: I know?
- 30:04Speaker 2: Is that a Johnson production?
- 30:08Speaker 1: Oh? I know. I felt like a jerk, but I
- 30:10Speaker 1: was like, that's not nice, but doesn't.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Work as I like the sentiment.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Is that Johnson production to do a deep dive? I
- 30:23Speaker 1: don't know. Also, guess what, we're probably gonna have some link,
- 30:27Speaker 1: problematic link. I would suggest that if people do like
- 30:33Speaker 1: the tiniest bit of research on the Hawaiian natives feelings
- 30:39Speaker 1: about Hawaiian tourism, just a suggestion prior to watching that,
- 30:45Speaker 1: because he got white guy talking about Hawaiian culture and
- 30:49Speaker 1: we do we have a single Hawaiian in the movie
- 30:52Speaker 1: representing Here comes Megan writing.
- 30:55Speaker 2: In on her problematic white Horse. Get ready for it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Have a great weekend, everybody, come back for our thoughts
- 31:03Speaker 1: on summer nights.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Goodbye bye,
