- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:04Yesterday we were talking about the New Yorker article that
- 0:07profiled Vicky Ward's involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein case and
- 0:13the now infamous two thousand and three Vanity Fair article. Now,
- 0:19we heard from Maria and Annie Farmer for a very
- 0:23long time about Vicky Ward's in action, how she didn't
- 0:27report the whole story, and how she omitted the truth. Now,
- 0:33Vicky Ward, she says that it wasn't her fault. It
- 0:37was the paper's fault. It was Graydon Carter's fault. It
- 0:40was everybody's fault but hers. Meanwhile, she's the one who
- 0:44penned the piece. She's the one who is the alleged journalist. Right,
- 0:49But you let someone like Graydon Carter kill your story.
- 0:53You mean to tell me you have no other friends
- 0:55in the media, nobody else that works for a publication
- 1:00that you could have hit up and said, hey, look
- 1:02this is what I got. I want you to check
- 1:04the very check the and verify it, make sure it's right,
- 1:07and then I want you to run it. You mean
- 1:09to tell me nobody else would have had the courage
- 1:11to do it. I mean, maybe not. We've seen how
- 1:15the legacy media protected Epstein for a long time, so
- 1:19maybe not. But one thing is for sure, Vicky warr
- 1:22trying to pass the buck, trying to make it somebody
- 1:27else's fault is just unacceptable. She eft up here, and
- 1:32that's just the way of it, and her not going
- 1:36to bat for the survivors, not going to bat for
- 1:39Annie and Maria after they spoke with her in confidence,
- 1:44you know, trusted her to try and help them get justice,
- 1:48and for them to not have her push the ball
- 1:54down the field for them after interviewing them and having them,
- 1:58you know, expose everything that happened, and for her not
- 2:02to use that in the story and to go on
- 2:04and write a glowing piece about Epstein is just the
- 2:07nail in the coffin. So this morning we have an
- 2:12article from the Daily Beast, and this article is Vicky
- 2:16Ward's response to the article yesterday from The New Yorker.
- 2:21Now you all know how I feel about context, right,
- 2:24and I want to know the whole story. I'm not
- 2:26here to just hear one side of the story. Ever,
- 2:28I want all of the evidence, as much context as possible,
- 2:31so that I can make as much of an informed
- 2:34decision about what I believe as possible. So let's see
- 2:39what Vicky Ward has to say for herself, shall we?
- 2:43Like I said, this article is from the Daily Beast
- 2:46and the author is Kate Bricklett. Headline Epstein journalist Vicky
- 2:51Ward hits back at the New Yorker end Grayden Carter.
- 2:55So for Vicky Ward's part, it's always been it's the
- 2:58blame is Grayden Carter's. She doesn't shoulder any of this blame.
- 3:02You know, she was just a reporter trying to get
- 3:06a story out there. She wasn't part of the you know,
- 3:09the social scene or anything like that. Again, another one
- 3:11of these people that would have you believe that they're helpless.
- 3:17Journalist Vicky Ward has released what she claims are select
- 3:20transcripts related to her two thousand and three Vanity Fair
- 3:24profile of Jeffrey Epstein, following a critical New Yorker examination
- 3:29into why accusations from two of his survivors were asked
- 3:33from her expose. Now, it's nice to see the legacy
- 3:37media catching up to all of this. But we've been
- 3:40talking about this for over a year and Vicky Ward
- 3:46and her role in helping, you know, build Epstein's profile,
- 3:54helping his rise. You know, a glowing article like this
- 3:58can only help enable Jeffrey Epstein and his disgusting behaviors.
- 4:04You're basically giving him credibility. Wart's transcripts, which appear edited
- 4:11and do not include any audio, portray then Vanity Fair
- 4:15editor in chief Graydon Carter as allegedly saying the abuse
- 4:18of a sixteen year old was not that earth shattering.
- 4:22I mean, wow, really, And again, look, I wasn't there.
- 4:25I'm not sitting here trying to defend Grayden Carter either.
- 4:27He's a piece of shit. You're the editor, bro, run
- 4:31the story. What are you scared of? All of these
- 4:33people who are scared of these so called elite. It's
- 4:36just mind boggling to me. They only have the power
- 4:39that you give them back. In two thousand and two,
- 4:44Ward had interviewed siblings Annie and Maria Farmer for her
- 4:47thorough piece The Talented Mister Epstein, but their claims of
- 4:51sexual abuse at the hands of Epstein and his ex
- 4:53girlfriend and accomplice and you know, convicted human trafficker and
- 4:57you know child abuser Glenn mack Well never made it
- 5:01to the final copy. Late last year, Annie was one
- 5:04of four survivors to testify at Maxwell's criminal case. So again,
- 5:09what it does. It just shines a terrible light on
- 5:12Vicky Ward. You mean to tell me you had the
- 5:15information from Annie Farmer all of those years ago and
- 5:20you didn't run it. And now fast forward to twenty
- 5:23twenty two, twenty twenty one, and those allegations are the
- 5:28ones that are used to get a conviction on Maxwell.
- 5:32As a journalist, you shit the bed, and as a
- 5:35human being, you're not a very good one. Ward has
- 5:41argued Vanity Fairs Carter caved to pressure from Epstein and
- 5:45acts the farmers from the Scoop against her wishes, And again,
- 5:49this is a bunch of he said. She said, how
- 5:51do we know who did what or who didn't do what.
- 5:53The fact of the matter is, everybody involved with the
- 5:56decision making process not to run the story is is
- 6:00shouldering their share of the blame. And for Vicky Ward
- 6:04to act like she had nothing to do with it,
- 6:06it's just it's ridiculous, And I don't know anyone who
- 6:09believes that. On Tuesday, The New Yorker published a deeper
- 6:16dive into Ward's assertions of having no say in the
- 6:19farmers being silenced and revealed a more nuanced and less
- 6:23favorable picture of why War didn't break the Epstein trafficking story.
- 6:28The legacy media was protecting Jeffrey Epstein. That's what it was, Okay,
- 6:33the same legacy media that wants you to hate your cousin,
- 6:36hates your neighbor. Yeah, that's same exact legacy media. And
- 6:41it's ridiculous. Vicky Ward, Vanity Fair, Graden Carter, everybody else
- 6:47involved this short. This story should have run, and if
- 6:49it did, who knows how many girls and women it
- 6:53could have saved from a lifetime of misery at the
- 6:57hands of Jeffrey Epstein. But no, you could run the story, right,
- 7:01You're too worried that Jeffrey Epstein might be mad at you.
- 7:04He might show up in his goofy ass slippers and
- 7:06his slippers and his mom jeans, and then what what's
- 7:09he going to do? The article by New Yorker scribe
- 7:16Isaac Chottner also examined Wards for giving twenty and eleven
- 7:20take on Epstein and Maxwell that glossed over their alleged
- 7:23abuse of young women. And you see, if it was
- 7:26one mistake, you could say, all right, well, she made
- 7:28a mistake, but there's a history of this refurbishing Jeffrey
- 7:32Epstein's reputation, helping build it back up, and then in
- 7:38twenty and eleven writing another glossy piece on Epstein on Maxwell.
- 7:46Now fast forward to today, and we should all believe
- 7:49that you're some hard charging journalist who is looking for
- 7:52the truth the whole entire time. He has zero chance
- 7:54that's gonna happen on this show. In response, war tweeted
- 8:01that Chattner's article was riddled with malicious inaccuracies and that
- 8:05she was going to release the transcripts of what Graydon
- 8:08Carter and Maria and Annie Farmer said to me back
- 8:11then so that you can read it for yourself and
- 8:14judge off what Vanity Fair did was right. So again,
- 8:17it's the blame game. Nobody ever wants to take responsibility
- 8:21for the things that they screwed up. I'm so glad
- 8:26that one of the things that was just pounded into
- 8:29my head as a child was self responsibility. You mess up,
- 8:33you own up, and you move on. You fix it
- 8:35if you can, and if not, you make sure you
- 8:38never do it again in the future. We don't see
- 8:40that from Vicky Ward. But Ward told The Daily Beast
- 8:47that she had decided against releasing her transcribed conversations with
- 8:50Annie and Maria. Yeah. Good idea, that's told to you
- 8:54in confidence. You've already, you know, hurt the process with
- 8:58Maria and Annie long enough. Now you're talking about, oh,
- 9:02maybe I'll release transcripts, and again, how do we even
- 9:05know if they're real. I'm not trying to sound like
- 9:07a dick here, right, or a cynical skeptic. But again,
- 9:12I don't just trust people anymore. You know, there's no
- 9:15journalists out there where I'm like, oh, yeah, whatever they say,
- 9:18I trust. I have to verify everything I read these days.
- 9:29I decided it would be wrong to put those out
- 9:31Ward said on Wednesday. At the end of the day,
- 9:34they don't need it. They've been through enough, and that
- 9:37is more important than defending myself. Well, we can agree
- 9:40on that. One thing is for sure. All of the
- 9:42survivors here have been through more than enough. Annie and
- 9:48Marias especially, So you got Vicky Ward out here making
- 9:53things more difficult. It's not a good look. I'm very
- 9:59upset that they're upset. Ward added on the farmers, I
- 10:02feel that we're aligned that we're all fighting the same system,
- 10:06and I hope they're able to get some clarity from
- 10:08reading what I wrote. Yeah, I highly doubt it. And
- 10:10we're not all aligned. If we were all aligned, you
- 10:13would have had that article out about Epstein in two
- 10:15thousand and three, then another chance in twenty and eleven.
- 10:18You didn't do it again. So what do you mean
- 10:20we're all aligned. I'm not aligned with you. We're certainly
- 10:23not allies. In her defense of her reporting, Ward focused
- 10:29on what she said was Carter protecting the patriarchal system
- 10:33that shored up Epstein rather than exposing it. Ah, what
- 10:37a typical low hanging fruit to go to. So it's
- 10:39the patriarchy. Huh. The patriarchy held you back from not
- 10:43exposing this Again, you could have brought this information to
- 10:48a million different outlets. You chose not to. You chose
- 10:51to be silenced by Graydon Carter, or you chose to
- 10:55help harbor the reputation of Jeffrey Epstein and Glenn Maxwell.
- 10:59Either way, you're a coward. Carter war told The Daily
- 11:05Beast had a bromance with Epstein and said they formed
- 11:08their own back channel to Underminer as she worked to
- 11:10report on claims that Epstein prayed on young women. Again,
- 11:13that might be true. I'm not saying it's not. I
- 11:15don't know. I wasn't there, and I'm sure Graydon Carter
- 11:18isn't a great person either. But for her to try
- 11:21and you know, shrug off all of the responsibility onto
- 11:24somebody else, it's disgusting. Take your piece of the blame
- 11:30here and do a better job. She also said she's
- 11:37been marginalized by sexist journalism utilizing anonymous sources, and questioned
- 11:42the purpose of the New Yorker piece, which she described
- 11:45as vindictive, personal, slanted, and inaccurate. I mean, look, this
- 11:51is the way of it, Vicky Ward. You're out here,
- 11:55you know, somebody who is hanging out with Glene Maxwell,
- 11:58friendly with them, right, puff pieces on them, and then
- 12:02when the chickens come home to roost, now it's about
- 12:06the patriarchy and and how uh you know it's sexist.
- 12:11Come on, man, What that does is it just takes
- 12:18all responsibility away from her for her actions and says, oh,
- 12:24it's the system's fault, why I reacted this way. Guess what,
- 12:28you sometimes you got to be willing to go against
- 12:31the system. You have to be willing to put it
- 12:33all on the line. On Wednesday, word defender defended herself
- 12:39in her Substack newsletter with a post titled what the
- 12:42New Yorker got Wrong. She took shots at Carter, whom
- 12:45she accused of being a self congratulatory male adoration club
- 12:49with Epstein again with the attack on mails, and it's
- 12:53all guys fault, I mean, don't don't get me wrong. Well,
- 12:56plenty of scumbag dudes, right, but in this specific instance,
- 13:00has nothing to do with it. She could have went
- 13:03to anybody with this story, she did not. She chronicled
- 13:08what she claimed were written records of certain conversations between
- 13:11herself and Epstein and Carter, and a conference call with
- 13:14the two men, and other damning details about her old boss.
- 13:18She claimed she provided these transcripts to Chattener, but he
- 13:21didn't include them in his story. Are they both under age?
- 13:25Carter allegedly asked Ward of the farmers, and again he
- 13:28didn't include it in his story. How's he going to
- 13:30verify it? If anyone can hand over some notes and
- 13:33be like, oh, these are the actual notes, these are
- 13:36the notes, But how can someone verify that? So I
- 13:39don't blame Chottenner for not running that one was in
- 13:45her very early twenties. Ward replied, and one was sixteen. Okay,
- 13:49the sixteen, I mean, what people do in their private
- 13:52lives I mean is not that, you know, earth shattering.
- 13:55I think the money thing is more interesting. Carter allegedly said, Now,
- 13:58I do not doubt that these dudes have no they
- 14:01don't care if someone's sixteen, what do they care. They
- 14:04have all the money in the world, all the power
- 14:06in the world. They can get away with whatever they want.
- 14:09So to Carter, that's just a shoulder shrugging situation, because,
- 14:13like we always talk about, that kind of shit is
- 14:16normalized for these sick people in her substack. Rebuttal Ward
- 14:21wrights think about that sixteen what people do in their
- 14:25private lives is not that earth shattering in hindsight, the
- 14:28poor farmers didn't stand a chance against that attitude, nor
- 14:32did I again setting herself up as a victim as well, Sorry,
- 14:36Vicky Ward, You're not a victim. You were in a
- 14:39position where you could have made a change, You could
- 14:41have made a difference, and you did not. That's what
- 14:44it all comes down to. Right Ward also alleges Carter
- 14:49himself behaved inappropriately by dishing the details of his private
- 14:53life that involved the former employee, She writes, And how
- 14:57did he think I felt during years of being on
- 14:59the receiving end of critical remarks about my clothes, mutton
- 15:03dressed as lamb my face, save the botox for when
- 15:06you need it? And my marriage again, what does any
- 15:09of that have to do with anything? Trying to set
- 15:11herself up and build this profile of Oh woe is me,
- 15:14poor Vicky Ward? And if he was such an asshole
- 15:17and such a dick and vanity fair was such a
- 15:20bad outlet to ride for, why wouldn't you go over
- 15:23their head and try and scoop them and give the
- 15:25story to someone else. Unfortunately, it seems that the same
- 15:30misogyny is prevalent at the top of Conde Nasty today.
- 15:33Ward ads bash the woman is the message, rather than
- 15:37report the inconvenient facts. The same patriarchy that victimized and
- 15:41tortured these women is once again circling the wagons to
- 15:44protect itself. I mean, is she for real? This is
- 15:49just I really doubt anyone believes that. Okay, to try
- 15:54and use that as your defense is just wow. I
- 16:00don't even know what else to say about that. As
- 16:02for comment on Ward's accusations, Carter said in an email, sorry,
- 16:06it's impossible to deal with the serial liar. Nothing Vicky
- 16:09Ward says is true nothing, As McCarthy said of Lillian Hellman, Carter,
- 16:14referring to dueling writers Mary McCarthy and Lillian Hellman, would
- 16:18not comment further when asked if Ward's transcripts are fake. Again,
- 16:22nobody knows who knows what she wrote. Meanwhile, Ward's apparent
- 16:28transcripts of her calls with Epstein don't reveal her directly
- 16:31grilling him about Annie and Maria's sexual abuse accusations. There
- 16:35was the implication that Maria Farmer finally Ohio or left
- 16:40because she felt there was some sort of sexual pressure.
- 16:43Ward told Epstein, who replied for who Ward answered from you.
- 16:48Ward told the Daily Beasts that later she sent Epstein
- 16:50a list of specific questions via facts, and that call
- 16:54with the financier was only an initial conversation. She can't
- 16:57even get her real her story right. So again, I
- 17:00just I don't believe any of it, and obviously it's
- 17:03up to all of you to believe what you want
- 17:05to believe. But for me, none of this makes sense,
- 17:08and it just seems like another cover your ass situation.
- 17:14I'm feeling him out in the call, and then he
- 17:16goes to see Graydon Carter. Ward said, then Graydon told
- 17:20me the next day that he believes Jeffrey Epstein over
- 17:23the Farmers. So again it's all great war. Graydon Carter's fault, right,
- 17:27And don't get me wrong, scumbag. But Vicky Ward, you're
- 17:30not an adult here. You're just somebody who stands around.
- 17:33You're an automaton who does what they're told. Both Annie
- 17:40and Maria have said Vanity Fair's exclusion of their interviews
- 17:43and corroborating information from their mother was painful for their family,
- 17:48and that in recent years, when Ward wanted to interview
- 17:50them again, Maria had to tell her to stop harassing them.
- 17:54Maria told The Daily Beast that the New Yorker story
- 17:57was an incomplete analysis of her lies and her cover
- 17:59of for her friends Jeffrey and Galaane. No matter what
- 18:03Vicky Ward does, it's to help Vicky Ward, Maria fumed,
- 18:07Vicky Ward has never once cared about the children involved
- 18:09in this story. About my baby sister, who is fifteen
- 18:12when this happened, she doesn't care about anything but prestige
- 18:15and money. Maria is not wrong there, She's one hundred
- 18:18percent correct. That's all these people care about. How do
- 18:21I further my career? And if that means harboring the
- 18:26reputation of somebody like Jeffrey Epstein, well so be it.
- 18:31Maria said that when the Epstein case made headlines in
- 18:34recent years, Ward would contact her and her family and
- 18:37hound them for interviews via phone and in letters. She
- 18:40has milked us to death. Maria said, I have a
- 18:43real problem with Vicky because her story has never seemed
- 18:45to line up. Maria added, how dare she try to
- 18:48defend herself right now? And look the rage that Maria feels.
- 18:52It's it's not fake, Okay, I know that for sure,
- 18:56and I know that for a fact. Maria is she
- 19:00feels very wronged by Vicky Ward, and I don't blame her. Annie,
- 19:06in her own statement to The Daily Beast, said, Ward
- 19:08appears to me to be more concerned about protecting her
- 19:11reputation than she ever was about protecting girls and young
- 19:14women from a pair of predators. Instead of pointing fingers.
- 19:18I wish all parties were taking more ownership for their mistakes.
- 19:21Annie continued, the dissection of what went wrong in two
- 19:24thousand and two is relevant because many members of the
- 19:27media still need to learn how to engage ethically with
- 19:30individuals coming forward with allegations of abuse, rather than re
- 19:35traumatize them and people in the media blue check marks
- 19:39on Twitter especially, you should read that paragraph again. When
- 19:43you have these survivors being more comfortable talking to people
- 19:47in the independent media, independent content creators, than they are
- 19:51just speaking to regular journalists who are supposed to be
- 19:54digging for the truth, you know that there's a big problem.
- 19:57And it just goes back to the fact that nobody
- 19:59trusts the legacy media anymore because this is what happens.
- 20:03They stick up for their buddies, predators go un called out,
- 20:07and then when the chickens come home to roost, when
- 20:11it's found out that you were up to nonsense, there's
- 20:14never any apologies. It's just more, oh, it wasn't me,
- 20:18and it's gross. It's disgusting, and people like Annie and Maria,
- 20:22they deserve a lot better from the legacy media. Still
- 20:27Ward says she is entitled to defend herself in light
- 20:30of the New Yorker story, and she doesn't believe she's
- 20:32done so at the farmer's expense. Look, I agree everyone
- 20:35should be able to defend themselves, but with that said,
- 20:38it doesn't mean I'm going to believe what you're pitching.
- 20:42In recent years, Ward came forward to say that she
- 20:44believes the farmers claims, and capitalized on the Epstein scandal
- 20:48with a three parts special Chasing Glaine on Discovery Plus
- 20:53and an audible podcast of the same title. It cracks
- 20:57me up. I'm not gonna digress to far here, but
- 21:00all of these podcasts that all of a sudden have
- 21:02popped up recently about Glenn Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein comical
- 21:07at best. She first accused Carter of excising the women
- 21:14from her story in a twenty fifteen column for The
- 21:17Daily Beast. It came down to my sources word against Epstein's,
- 21:21and at the time Graydon believed Epstein. Ward wrote, in
- 21:24my notebook, I have him saying I believe him. I'm Canadian,
- 21:28what does that mean? I don't believe you and I'm Italian.
- 21:31So put that in your pipe and smoke it. Chottner
- 21:34interviewed Ward about his story of covering Epstein and Maxwell
- 21:37after the latter was convicted in late December of grooming
- 21:40girls for the multi millionaire Pedophile. Many of the things
- 21:44she told me and had told her podcast listeners turned
- 21:48out to be untrue, Chottenner writes, and for those of
- 21:50you out there listening to the podcast right now, you
- 21:53know for a fact that that's one of the number
- 21:55one things when it comes to podcasts. That's important. Getting
- 21:58the story straight and can consistency the two most important
- 22:02things Ward has Neither is it a ten part series
- 22:05where it's filled with all kinds of bs. According to Chattner,
- 22:10all publications, including this one, at times look back on
- 22:13stories and regret not pursuing them further. But Ward's claim
- 22:17that Vanity Fair prevented her from exposing Epstein misrepresents a
- 22:21more complicated reality. That's factual, definitely a more complicated reality.
- 22:26But she could have made it less complicated by just
- 22:28taking the story elsewhere. Again, I know that sounds easy,
- 22:32and it's easy for me to say it's not my
- 22:34livelihood on the line, But guess what, Sometimes you have
- 22:38to have courage, and if you're going to be a journalist,
- 22:41especially your job as a member of the Fourth Estate,
- 22:44is to hold people of a power to account. Chattner,
- 22:50adds Carter, who now says that he distrusted Ward as
- 22:53a reporter, has offered conflicting explanations for his magazine's decision
- 22:58not to run the sister's allegations. For her part, Ward
- 23:01has repeatedly misrepresented her reporting on Epstein, changing her story
- 23:06from year to year and at times from day to day,
- 23:09and was a far less heroic actor than she would
- 23:12have audiences believe. Yeah, it's nice to see Chatterer's getting
- 23:17caught up on this. We've only been talking about this
- 23:19for over two years. Maria was a twenty six year
- 23:24old art student in New York when she met Epstein
- 23:26in Maxwell and claims the duo sexually assaulted her in
- 23:29nineteen ninety six. During the alleged assault, Farmer had been
- 23:33staying at the home of Epstein's pal, former Limited Brands
- 23:37chairman Les Wexner, and Maria's story is one that is
- 23:42pretty uh disgusting and sad. She's told her story here
- 23:47on this podcast before she's told it elsewhere. And I
- 23:51think that Maria and Annie, if they would have just
- 23:56been listened to, all of this could have been stopped.
- 24:01The creepy couple also prayed on Maria's sixteen year old
- 24:04sister Annie, who was growth by Maxwell during a visit
- 24:07to Epstein's new Mexico compound. At Maxwell's criminal trial, Annie
- 24:11said she was frozen in fear when the socialite, pedophile,
- 24:15convicted human trafficker molested her. And again, we all heard
- 24:19Annie's testimony, we all read it, and we all know
- 24:22how harrowing that must have been for her. Last July,
- 24:26Maria told Page six she was tired of Ward allegedly
- 24:29profiting from her and Annie's experience with Epstein. I am horrified.
- 24:33Just leave us alone. Can't you make money off of
- 24:35other victims? Maria told the outlet. Ahead of Ward's podcast premiere.
- 24:39She added, whenever we hear the name Vicky Ward, we cringe.
- 24:43Ward responded that she made an effort to really apologize
- 24:46to Maria in the podcast. She has done a great disservice.
- 24:49Ward told Page six Epstein ruined her life. I'm hugely
- 24:53sorry for my role in that. She obviously sees me
- 24:56as the enemy, which is very upsetting. Well, look, you
- 25:00had a chance to help her. You had a chance
- 25:02to go and tell the world what happened. And you
- 25:05did not. You sat on it. And because of that,
- 25:08I can't even begin to tell you the struggles that
- 25:11Maria has had since then, cancer issues with hiding from
- 25:16these people. There's no way to live your life, and
- 25:19she deserves a lot better than that from Vicky Ward
- 25:21and the rest of these pieces of shit. In Schattner's piece,
- 25:26Carter initially recalled that he edited Ward's first draft of
- 25:30her two thousand and three story and that there was
- 25:32no mention of young women in it. Emails showed, however,
- 25:36that Ward had discussed the Farmer's sexual abuse accusations with
- 25:39fact checkers and a photo editor weeks before her deadline.
- 25:43Carter and I also spoke on the phone, Shotner writes,
- 25:46and he told me that the decision not to run
- 25:49the Farmer's allegation was likely influenced by Ward's professional reputation.
- 25:54My staff, to a person, did not trust her. Then
- 25:57why is she working for you? Why do we have
- 26:00people in the media or in the journalist rooms who
- 26:04are not trusted. If nobody trusts you and you're a liar,
- 26:07why are you giving the news to the rest of us.
- 26:12It's amazing to me. Fire her. Then in the three
- 26:16years after Epstein's profile, Ward continue to write about the
- 26:19wealthy sex offender and mingle with Maxwell and Manhattan society circles.
- 26:24Her bylines included a casual two thousand and eight Vanity
- 26:27Fair item about rumors that Epstein would flee to Israel
- 26:30to avoid jail time for soliciting a minor in Florida.
- 26:34The story closes with an impertinent exchange, Well, I guess
- 26:38you and I have history by now, Jeffrey, I told them,
- 26:41thinking of my two thousand and three article. He replied,
- 26:44you know how many girls say that to me? Oh?
- 26:47How cute? What a loving moment between you two absolute scoundrels.
- 26:54The next column, in twenty and eleven, was effusive about Maxwell,
- 26:58the very woman Annie used of abuse in an interview
- 27:01with Ward about nine years before. So after that she
- 27:05knew all of this, Vicky Ward, she had been hip
- 27:07to all of this by Annie and Maria and had
- 27:10hindsight as her benefit. And she's still hanging out with
- 27:13Glene Maxwell. So anything she says after that should not
- 27:16be taken seriously. This is not to say I didn't
- 27:22hear stories about the girls, Ward wrote, I did, but
- 27:25not knowing quite whom to believe. I concentrated on the
- 27:28intriguing financial mystery instead, Ward added, and they didn't even
- 27:33dig deep there. The financial aspect of this case is
- 27:35one of the most interesting aspects to me, and for
- 27:39her to act like she's really dug deep here is
- 27:41laughable at best. Ward added, Sure, Jeffrey had his sexual peccadillos,
- 27:47but then Glaane's father was not without his oddities. Again,
- 27:50what about is? And what does that even mean? His peccadillos?
- 27:53You mean abusing children and raping women. That's peccadillos to you. Huh.
- 27:58I guess when you're part of the soap call Delite
- 28:00and you do that sort of shit, It's just a peccadillo.
- 28:05Ward says. Her original copy said we concentrated instead of
- 28:09I because she wanted to cover for Vanity far and Carter.
- 28:12She says she always believed the farmers, but an editor
- 28:15changed your copy and made it seem otherwise. Oh is
- 28:19that right again? And you never came out with your
- 28:22own version? And Glaine full disclosure. I like her, most
- 28:27people in New York do. It's almost impossible not to,
- 28:30Ward wrote, She is always the most interesting, the most vivacious,
- 28:34the most unusual person in any room. Oh, give me
- 28:37a fucking break, breaking news. I guarantee you I know
- 28:40people in New York who don't like Glaine Maxwell. Okay,
- 28:43I promise you that she's not the most interesting person anywhere. Ever.
- 28:49I've spent hours talking to her about the Third World?
- 28:51Do you mean the developing world again? Remember, folks, when
- 28:55these people are up there calling everybody else racist or
- 28:57misogynists or whatever it might be, this is the way
- 29:00they look at the developing world. Oh, it's the third world,
- 29:03speaking of it in derogatory terms, like there's places. I've
- 29:10spent hours talking to her about the Third World at
- 29:12a bar until two am. She is as passionate as
- 29:15she is knowledgeable. She is curious. She has spent weeks
- 29:18at the bottom of the ocean, literally going deeper than
- 29:20anyone else. She should have just stayed there, Okay, with
- 29:23the world to be a better place. Nobody cares if
- 29:26she's out here acting like Jacques Cousteau. Nobody gives a fuck.
- 29:31Asked about this language, Ward told the Daily Beasts that
- 29:33Maxwell had an extraordinary charisma, but claimed she didn't know
- 29:37her well. She said they'd run into each other sporadically
- 29:40at a book launch or a movie premiere. This is
- 29:42somebody I would run into at an event. It's not
- 29:45somebody I would be having lunch with. Ward said, I
- 29:47think people have got the wrong impression. Ward added that
- 29:50she had no idea the heiress, pedophile, human trafficker, child abuser,
- 29:57procured children for Epstein. Nah, you had no idea. Nobody
- 30:00knew anything. She's a journalist. It's her job to know.
- 30:04But she had no idea. Sure, I think we should
- 30:06just believe everything, Vicky Ward tells us. Ward told Schattner
- 30:11that her draft was quite different from the finished feature
- 30:14posted on Vanity Fair's website. This piece got sent to
- 30:18Graydon and somebody altered it dramatically, Ward claimed, really really dramatically.
- 30:23As proof Word forwarded Shatner her emails with Vanity Fair editors,
- 30:28and her supposed first draft. According to Chotner, the draft
- 30:32was extremely similar to the published piece, and specifically said
- 30:35that she would she was unsure of whom to believe.
- 30:39The sentence about sexual peccadillos was in that copy too.
- 30:43Now again she's being called out here, she's being outed
- 30:48aired out, and she's still not willing to take responsibility,
- 30:52so I leave it up to you folks as usual,
- 30:55to decide if her content's worth you even bothering with, Chotner, says.
- 31:01Ward claims she included precise allegations from the farmers in
- 31:05her twenty and eleven write up, but someone at Vanity
- 31:07Fair removed them, but a copy of the draft, Chottner writes,
- 31:10revealed that Annie's accusations about Maxwell's unwonted massage and Epstein
- 31:15climbing into her bed had never been included. Asked why
- 31:19Annie's claims about Maxwell were left out, Ward told Schottner,
- 31:22I wish I could remember. She added that she was
- 31:25deliberately covering for Carter, who denied Ward's claims. Who denied
- 31:29Ward's claims, So you were covering for Carter, proving that
- 31:32you're willing to lie, proving that you're willing to not
- 31:35have a backbone. So again, blow the whole entire thing up.
- 31:39They both get their share of the blame. Vicky Ward
- 31:41as the author, Vicky Ward as the person who's supposed
- 31:44to have the confidence of these girls, completely blew the
- 31:46confidence out of the water, and now here we are.
- 31:52Twenty eleven was a year I made a lot of
- 31:55bad decisions, Ward said, mentioning that she was going through
- 31:57a divorce. I was not mentally well. Oh please, none
- 32:01of us are mentally well. Okay, try waking up every
- 32:03single morning and not knowing where your next meal's coming
- 32:07from or if your bills are going to be paid
- 32:08that month. Chantner pressed Ward on why she wrote the
- 32:13twenty eleven essay in light of her claims that Epstein
- 32:16threatened her before the first prile A profile was published.
- 32:20She replied, in part, I think the reason I did
- 32:22it was that the media industry was imploding. And this
- 32:25may seem bizarre, but by being able to write about
- 32:28it so flippantly, I think it made me feel good. Actually,
- 32:31the media was imploding. It's been imploding forever. So you
- 32:35writing for about Epstein or this story is going to
- 32:37save the media complex. Imagine having this kind of opinion
- 32:42of yourself. Ward isn't the only high profile reporter covering
- 32:46the Epstein case to come under fire. Last week, victims
- 32:50Courtney Wilde and Hayley Robson filed a defamation suit against
- 32:53storied Miami Herald journalist Julie K. Brown, saying she mis
- 32:58excuse me saying she misrepresented their stories in her twenty
- 33:02and twenty one book. Well, folks, again, that's why this
- 33:06podcast exists, so that we can go through these stories
- 33:10that come out on a daily basis, pick them apart,
- 33:13find the golden gems, and discard the rest of it.
- 33:16Because it's not just been Vicky Ward covering for Epstein.
- 33:21It was the whole entire media complex up until about
- 33:23twenty nineteen. So for these clowns to act like, you know, oh,
- 33:28it was just Vicky Ward or just Graydon Carter, that's
- 33:30a joke. But what Vicky Ward and Graydon Carter did here,
- 33:34according to Maria and Annie, absolutely out of bounds, and honestly,
- 33:41it goes a long way with helping Jeffrey Epstein and
- 33:44Glenn Maxwell continue to do this. So Vicky Ward coming
- 33:49out here trying to defend herself while she's more than
- 33:53you know, able to do that, right, she should have
- 33:56the right to defend herself. Again, it falls flat to me.
- 34:00There's nothing there in this defense that would make me say, ah,
- 34:02you know what, maybe I should reevaluate this, especially considering
- 34:06i've i've I've spoken with Maria personally, so I don't
- 34:11buy any of it. I've never bought Vicky Ward's story
- 34:14and I've never really thought of her as a reliable
- 34:17narrator as usual, though, I'll leave that up to you,
- 34:20folks to decide. That's gonna do it for this morning's update.
- 34:25I'll be back later on tonight obviously with you know,
- 34:28the evening update, and until then some context episodes come
- 34:31in your way. If you'd like to contact me, you
- 34:34can do that at Bobby Capuci at Protonmeil dot com.
- 34:37That's bo b b Y c ap you c c
- 34:40I at Protonmeil dot com. You can also find me
- 34:44on Twitter at bo bb y underscore c A p
- 34:48U C c I. The link that we discussed can
- 34:51be found in the description box. All right, everybody, I
- 34:54will be back later on and I hope all of
- 34:56you have a great morning. What's up every and welcome
- 35:01back to the Epstein Chronicles. Hope that everybody out there
- 35:04is having a gray morning so far. You know, I've
- 35:08lived in the city my whole entire life. First I
- 35:11lived in New York and then I moved to Las Vegas,
- 35:15so I've never lived outside of the concrete jungle. Well, folks,
- 35:20that's going to change. Recently, my girlfriend and I, Carrie,
- 35:24we have started looking at land in places like Montana, Wyoming,
- 35:30Northern Nevada, Idaho. You get the drift, and it's about
- 35:35time for us to make our escape out of the city.
- 35:41I used to love the city, folks, I used to
- 35:44love the feel of it, you know, the the excitement,
- 35:47the energy. But at least here in Las Vegas, that's
- 35:51not the case anymore. Seems like every time I leave
- 35:54the house, it's a whole entire ordeal. All kinds of
- 35:59moron everywhere. Rude people, people who are just so caught
- 36:04up in whatever kind of nonsense they have going on
- 36:07that they can't be concerned with being kind to other
- 36:10people or showing even the littlest amount of respect. And frankly,
- 36:16I'm sick of it. I can't deal with it anymore.
- 36:19I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the vibe, and
- 36:22I'm just tired of just all of the sadness and
- 36:27sorrow that you see in the big cities. I know
- 36:31that I can leave my house right now and drive
- 36:33for five minutes, five ten minutes tops, and be at
- 36:36a homeless encampment, and I don't live in the middle
- 36:40of the ghetto or anything like that. But it's endemic
- 36:44everywhere you go, and for me, I've had enough. Are
- 36:50local officials. They can't handle the situation. They're way too busy,
- 36:54you know, shoving money in their pockets, being greedy, not
- 36:58doing the right thing playing and meanwhile the rest of
- 37:02us suffer. So for me, I'm hitting the ejec button, folks,
- 37:07I am checking out and we're headed to the mountains
- 37:12to them there mountains, because it's crazy every single time
- 37:17I go out. I mean personally, I don't have to
- 37:21deal with it for the most part, I just I
- 37:23keep my distance from people in general. I don't get
- 37:26caught up in any kind of like road rage types
- 37:29of situations. I may leave me alone and I'll leave
- 37:32you alone kind of person these days. But it's just
- 37:35the things that I observe while I'm out, people fighting
- 37:38in line at the grocery store. Oh you're too close
- 37:41to me. Oh you're not wearing a mask, and it's
- 37:44just all crazy to me. And while we're busy dealing
- 37:48with that nonsense, arguing with each other at each other's throats,
- 37:52the scumbags like Glain Maxwell and her friends, well they're
- 37:55having a field day. Have you taken a look at
- 37:58the transfer of wealth throughout this pandemic from the bottom up?
- 38:02If not, I suggest you do so to get some
- 38:04perspective about who the true enemy really is. And I
- 38:08promise you it's not some dunderhead on Twitter who has
- 38:11a different opinion than you do about vaccines or politics.
- 38:16Those aren't your enemies. Your enemies are the people behind
- 38:20the scenes pulling the strings. Those are our enemies. And
- 38:24for me, I'm not gonna play the game. I'm not
- 38:28playing that game where I hate people or I'm rude
- 38:31to people who have different opinions than me. I don't
- 38:34live in an echo chamber of folks. And one of
- 38:37the things I'm proudest of about this podcast is that
- 38:40there's so many people from so many different walks of
- 38:42life who listen to it. Hardcore socialists, hardcore maga folks,
- 38:48and they all get it right. People out there who
- 38:50are listening to me, they understand I'm not somebody sitting
- 38:53here with an extra grind. I don't really care about
- 38:55either of these ridiculous political parties. I spent too much
- 39:00time carrying water for them when I was younger, and
- 39:03now that the curtain's been pulled back. I don't have
- 39:06any I don't have a dog in the fight. If
- 39:09you will, I think both sides are absolutely harmful to us,
- 39:13and I don't think either side has any good ideas
- 39:15at this point. So for me, the best move is
- 39:19to just eject and get out of that rat race.
- 39:22And that's my plan, folks, to buy a piece of
- 39:24land and a couple of animals and call it a day.
- 39:28So I've been doing that the last couple of days. Well,
- 39:31I've had a little bit of downtime, and man oh man,
- 39:35what a bunch of beautiful parcels of land I've found.
- 39:39So hopefully by the end of the year I'll be
- 39:42able to get out of Dodge and at the very
- 39:44least buy my piece of land and start working on it.
- 39:48Plan on also while I'm there, to benefit for everybody,
- 39:51by the way, having a studio built, a pretty uh
- 39:56self contained studio right there on the property, so I
- 39:58don't have to leave anymore either. That's the biggest plan.
- 40:01I want enough land where I don't have to leave
- 40:04if I don't want to. I could wake up in
- 40:05the morning, hop on my ATV, go drive around, go fishing.
- 40:09Whatever it might be. But this city rat race that
- 40:13I've been living in for forty one years, Yeah, that's
- 40:16over for me, folks. I've had enough. I've had my
- 40:19phil And with the perfect storm upon us, the pandemic
- 40:23and everyone being able to work, you know, remotely for
- 40:26the most part, it's the perfect time. So I'm definitely
- 40:32putting up themselves, leaving the harbor and heading out into
- 40:35the open water. All right, So onto our topic for
- 40:40the day. Now, we all know the current situation with
- 40:44Glenn Maxwell. We all know that Juror number fifty Scottie
- 40:48David threw a wrench into things. Doesn't mean there's automatically
- 40:53going to be a mistrial, but it is something that
- 40:55has to be discussed now because of the situation, and
- 41:00I am possibly lying about his circumstances, So we all
- 41:05know that that is at the forefront right now. Well,
- 41:08on the back end of all of this, let's remember
- 41:10Glenn Maxwell still has to face trial for perjury charges.
- 41:15So now the prosecution is dangling dropping those perjury charges.
- 41:22If Maxwell just goes along with the conviction that she's
- 41:26already been hit with, now, I don't see any way
- 41:29that she gets off on these perjury charges and she's
- 41:32looking at ten years with those, so I would think
- 41:36that it's maybe a bit of an enticement. But is
- 41:39it enough, that's the question, And I guess we'll have
- 41:42to see. But my gut feeling is that it's not
- 41:46going to be enough to entice her to not try
- 41:49and chase this mistrial. I think that her best bet.
- 41:53And while it's still I don't think it's likely to happen,
- 41:58but it's her best bet, that mistrial. All right, So
- 42:03with that said, let's take a look at this article
- 42:06from the Daily Mail and let's see what they have
- 42:09to say about this whole situation. Now, this article was
- 42:13authored by Lawrence Dollamore. Headline Prosecutors offered a drop perjury
- 42:19charges against Glaine Maxwell if sex trafficking conviction is allowed
- 42:24to stand, as her lawyers argue compelling basis for retrial
- 42:28after jurors sex abuse revelation. Well, I will say this
- 42:32about the Daily Mail. They leave the league in long
- 42:36headlines and the world's longest headlines. Good lord, could the
- 42:40headlines be any longer? Over at the Daily Mail, they
- 42:43give you the whole story right there in the headline
- 42:45for the most part. Prosecutors are willing to drop two
- 42:50charges of perjury against disgraced socialite eh child trafficker Gallage
- 42:55Maxwell if a conviction for sex trafficking is allowed to
- 42:58stand court document and showed on Monday. So there's always
- 43:02a flurry of court documents going into the court trying
- 43:06to get a file to the docket, and I try
- 43:10and keep up on all of those as much as possible,
- 43:13so whenever they come through, I'll do a quick read
- 43:15through and make sure we're on the right page and
- 43:18you know we're not navigating off into la la land.
- 43:21And while I'm talking about that, quick shout out to
- 43:25Lady h over there on Twitter, who is always all
- 43:28over it and always making sure that I have the
- 43:31proper documentation to go through. And folks like that, like
- 43:36Lady h Boy, I'll tell you what they are very
- 43:39important to people like me who are creating content because
- 43:43we're not superhumans, right, There's things I miss all the time.
- 43:47And all of you fantastic listeners who are locked into
- 43:51the case have added so much that I can't even
- 43:55begin to explain how awesome you all are. But lady
- 43:59h over there on Twitter has I mean, since the
- 44:02jump kept the core documents fresh and coming. So a
- 44:06lot of props to her and definitely a shout out.
- 44:11The sixty year old could spend the rest of her
- 44:13life behind bars after a jury convicted her of recruiting
- 44:17and grooming young girls to be sexually abused by the
- 44:20late American financier in pedophile Jeffrey Epstein last month. Why
- 44:25do we have to call him a financier? And furthermore,
- 44:27what the f was this guy financing? He wasn't financing anybody.
- 44:31He wasn't a financier. He was a thief and a
- 44:34money launderer and a child molester and a rapist. Okay,
- 44:38that's what he was. She is due to be sentenced
- 44:42at a later date, but there is ongoing disagreement over
- 44:46when a timetable should be set. Prosecutors want the British
- 44:50born Maxwell sentenced within three to four months, but her
- 44:53defense team as opposed setting a date and there is
- 44:56a compelling basis to overturn her conviction prosecuted. I mean,
- 45:01the defense team doesn't want to set this date yet
- 45:04because they're hanging their hat on hopefully this mistrial, So
- 45:08they don't want to set this date until they get
- 45:09the mistrial stuff set up and ready to go. He
- 45:13demanded a new trial after a juror revealed he had
- 45:17helped convict Maxwell by telling fellow jury members about his
- 45:21experience of sexual abuse. And again, he's allowed to rely
- 45:26on his past experiences as a human being when he's
- 45:29making the case to the other jurors in the room
- 45:32to try and explain his opinions and how he came
- 45:36to his decision making. What he is not allowed to do, however,
- 45:39is lie about those circumstances during the questionnaire period. So again,
- 45:44like we've been saying, and it's a dead horse at
- 45:46this point, it's all about that questionnaire and whether or
- 45:49not he lied on that. According to court documents dated
- 45:57January tenth, the US government is now offered to drop
- 46:00two perjury charges linked to claims Maxwell made in twenty
- 46:04sixteen deposition in a separate civil lawsuit, should the sex
- 46:08crime conviction stand. Each perjury charge carries a maximum five
- 46:13year prison term, So she's cooked on those perjury charges,
- 46:17no doubt about that. She's definitely gonna get convicted on those,
- 46:21So it would be a good idea for her team
- 46:25to definitely consider this. In my opinion, because she's gone,
- 46:29She's gonna get the time on perjury. It's rather obvious
- 46:31she lied, So it's certainly something that the team has
- 46:35to discuss. But at the end of the day, is
- 46:38it going to be enough to entice them to drop
- 46:41their thoughts of a mistrial of that? I think it's
- 46:45going to be a hard sell. The charges alleged the
- 46:49convicted sex trafficker lied under oath by hiding her participation
- 46:53in Epstein's offenses during separate civil case brought against her
- 46:57by Prince Andrew's accuser, Virginia Robert. And kudos here for
- 47:01the Daily Mail finally getting on board. The charges alleged
- 47:05the convicted sex trafficker lied under oath. That is what
- 47:08she is, a convicted sex trafficker, an absolutely horrendous human being.
- 47:14If you want to call her a human being, I
- 47:16prefer bipedal serpent. But you get the drift here. This
- 47:20lady should not be called a socialite and ex socialite
- 47:23any of that. She is a convicted sex offender. You
- 47:26made that bed, Glenn Maxwell, now enjoy lying in it.
- 47:30Confirming their position in the letter to Judge Allison J. Nathan,
- 47:33the US government said, in the event the defendants post
- 47:36trial motions are denied. The government is prepared to dismiss
- 47:40the severed perjury counts at the time of sentencing in
- 47:44light of the survivor's significant interests in bringing closure to
- 47:48this matter and avoiding the trauma of testifying again. And
- 47:52we talked about this a little bit yesterday. It's gotta
- 47:55be traumatic, right, coming back, got to testify again, relive
- 47:58all of this, the nightmare, the night sweats, the anticipation
- 48:02the day before. I mean, come on, have any of
- 48:06you ever had a big day that you had and
- 48:08you were you nervous about it, You weren't really looking
- 48:11forward to it, maybe like surgery or something like that.
- 48:14I know I've had both of my shoulders fully reconstructed
- 48:17due to injuries that I've picked up being a moron
- 48:22in my life. And every single night that I was
- 48:26laying there in bed before those surgeries, I was scared shitless.
- 48:30So I can only imagine laying there before a trial,
- 48:34getting up there to air out your whole life in
- 48:36front of the whole world. That there has to be
- 48:38so much anxiety in the best of times, never mind
- 48:41if you were sexually abused or raped or trafficked by
- 48:44sick fucks like this, So in the interest of them
- 48:48not having to revisit the trauma, I'm all for it
- 48:51as long as Maxwell is punished the right way. If
- 48:59any of the defendants postrial motions are granted, the government
- 49:02proposes that the parties be directed to promptly confer and
- 49:06propose a schedule for further proceedings. That schedule may depend
- 49:10on the manner in which the court resolves such motions.
- 49:13So basically what they're saying there is we're gonna have
- 49:16to wait and see. We'll have to wait and see
- 49:18what the court decides. We'll have to wait and see
- 49:20what the defense brings to the table, and then the
- 49:23negotiations will begin. The prosecution has also requested preparation of
- 49:31a pre sentenced investigation report, but the defense argued anything
- 49:35Maxwell said in the report could be used against her
- 49:38at her retrial, and she's not wrong about that, So
- 49:41that's a bit diligent on her team's behalf here. You
- 49:44gotta be careful, right, You gotta really be careful when
- 49:46you're dealing with the federal government. Setting out their position
- 49:51in the letter, Maxwell's lawyer said, the defense requests that
- 49:54the court delays setting a schedule for sentencing because there
- 49:58is a compelling basis for the court to overturn Miss
- 50:01Maxwell's conviction and grant her a new trial based on
- 50:05the disclosure of Juror fifty during deliberations. The defense therefore
- 50:10objects to setting a schedule for sentencing until this motion
- 50:13is resolved. So again, what they're trying to do is
- 50:17stop everything in its tracks till they can figure out
- 50:19if they're going to get a retrial here. That's what
- 50:22they're aiming for, That's what they're gunning for. That's what
- 50:24they want. The question is are they going to attain it. Furthermore,
- 50:31requiring Miss Maxwell to participate in the preparation of the
- 50:34pre sentenced investigation report while she is awaiting a decision
- 50:38on our motion for a new trial will adversely impact
- 50:41her Fifth Amendment rights, the right to silence so as
- 50:44to not incriminate herself. Miss Maxwell will be forced into
- 50:48the position of not cooperating with the Probation Department's investigation
- 50:52because any statement she makes to Probation and any document
- 50:55she provides may be used against her at her retrial.
- 51:00Really pining for that retrial, folks, they think they're gonna
- 51:03get it. They think that Maxwell is going to get
- 51:05a chance to once again try and argue her innocence here,
- 51:09if you want to call it that, I would suggest
- 51:12that they didn't even argue her innocence the first time around.
- 51:16But again, while it seems like a mistrial is certainly
- 51:20a possibility, we're dealing with the United States legal system
- 51:24where things that seem likely, well, they never occur. Maxwell's
- 51:31conviction was first put in jeopardy when juror number fifty,
- 51:34Scottie David, admitted he flew through a pre trial questionnaire
- 51:38and did not recall being asked on the form about
- 51:41his experience of sexual abuse. David claimed he used his
- 51:45experience to influence other jurors, saying, when I shared that
- 51:48they were able to come around on the memory aspect
- 51:51of the sexual abuse. And again we don't even know
- 51:54if that's the truth. We haven't heard from the other jurors.
- 51:56We don't know what they were thinking. This is just
- 51:59one guy who wants to be the hero of their story.
- 52:03Maxwell's defense has insisted she not be made to expend
- 52:06resources on other legal matters until a ruling on whether
- 52:10to conduct a retrial is made. It comes after a
- 52:13second unidentified jerry told The New York Times that they
- 52:16too had been abused as a child. They said they
- 52:19had discussed the experience during deliberations, and that the revelation
- 52:23had appeared to help shape the jury's discussions. That paper reported. Meanwhile,
- 52:28Maxwell's lawyers told The Mail on Sunday that they believe
- 52:31they have found a third jer inner sex trafficking trial
- 52:34who lied about being abused. All right, so now we're
- 52:37getting a bit silly, right, everybody's a liar. Everybody told
- 52:39the story. At what point do you look at Maxwell's
- 52:42team and say, all right, come on now, stop it.
- 52:46I think I'm at that point right now, all right,
- 52:49enough with the bs. Your client's convicted. She's a human trafficker.
- 52:53Stop being a moron. A source that Maxwell's legal team
- 52:57feel confident a third ur lied on their jury application,
- 53:01adding there are also questions over a fourth juror, so
- 53:05this thing is up in the air. So when they
- 53:06say a source said, I'm guessing Maxwell's brother, he's the
- 53:09only source that they've had, and boy, oh boy, he
- 53:12is not a reliable narrator. Maxwell's trial and subsequent conviction
- 53:18for assisting Epstein, who hanged himself in his jail cell
- 53:21in twenty nineteen, allegedly exposed a murky world of sex
- 53:25trafficking among the rich and powerful. A New York judge
- 53:29last week said they would decide pretty soon whether to
- 53:32dismiss his sexual assault lawsuit against the UK's Prince Andrew
- 53:36by Virginia Roberts, also a longtime abuse survivor of Maxwell
- 53:41and Epstein's. Roberts alleges that Epstein lent her out for
- 53:44sex with his wealthy and powerful associates, including Andrew, an
- 53:48allegation that Queen Elizabeth's second excuse me, Queen Elizabeth the
- 53:53second son has repeediately and strenuously denied. So it's fun
- 54:00how they say, oh, it opens up a world of
- 54:02murky sex trafficking among the rich and powerful. What do
- 54:05you mean? This has been going on forever? How do
- 54:08you think the courts in the Middle Ages ran And
- 54:11when I say courts, I mean royal courts. There are
- 54:13basically large ass sex trafficking operations. In fact, we're gonna
- 54:16dive into that at some point as well, because it's
- 54:19very interesting how those courts for the kings and monarchs
- 54:23in the Old days were used as sex trafficking operations,
- 54:26So this is as old as old could be, folks,
- 54:31And when it comes to Glenn Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein,
- 54:34they're certainly not the only ones that are up to it.
- 54:38So we're gonna continue on this path. We're continue following
- 54:41the story, and we're gonna see what comes of this.
- 54:44But one thing I can definitely tell you is there
- 54:48are definitely some more twists and turns ahead and there's
- 54:51certainly going to be some bumps in the road. So folks,
- 54:54my advice is buckle up. All right. That's gonna do
- 54:57it for us this morning. We'll be back later on
- 55:00tonight with our evening update and context articles as usual.
- 55:05If you'd like to contact me, you can do that
- 55:07at Bobby Capucci at ProtonMail dot com. That's Bobby cap
- 55:13you Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can also find
- 55:17me on Twitter at Bobby underscore c ap u Cci.
- 55:23The link that we discussed can be found in the
- 55:25description box. What's up everyone, and welcome back to the
- 55:31Epstein Chronicles. Hope that everybody's off to a great start
- 55:36to their weekend and hopefully the rest of it is
- 55:39even better. Last night, we were talking about the fact
- 55:44that Carolyn, one of the witnesses from the Gallain Maxwell trial,
- 55:51corroborated the fact that Virginia called her and told her
- 55:55about her experience with Prince Andrew. And when we were
- 56:00discussing that last night, we were talking about the settlement
- 56:04and if this would you know, settle out of court maybe,
- 56:07And it looks like Virginia wants nothing to do with that.
- 56:12I said that last night as well. I thought that
- 56:15perhaps she would want to see this all the way through.
- 56:18And there's an article in the New York Post and
- 56:21the headline is Prince Andrew's sex accuser wanted five million,
- 56:26but will no longer accept a payout, And I kind
- 56:29of figured that was the path we were on. This
- 56:33is about something bigger for Virginia at this point, and
- 56:38it's not you know, people will frame it, Oh, it's
- 56:41about the money. It's about the settlement, and I think
- 56:44it's well beyond that. At this point when we're discussing
- 56:48Virginia Roberts, I think she's at the point where she
- 56:52just wants to see this all the way through. And
- 56:55her saying that she will not accept a payout at
- 56:57this point definitely signals that. So it's gonna be interesting
- 57:03to see what transpires here as far as this payout
- 57:08or settlement or what the deal's going to be. But
- 57:12it certainly looks like at this point that Prince Andrew
- 57:16better have his trial pants on right. You know he
- 57:19talked about not wearing the right kid. I'm not wearing
- 57:22the right kid around London to go to the ball. Well,
- 57:24you better have the right kid on to go to court,
- 57:27my friend, because it sure looks like that's the path
- 57:30you're on, and it sure looks like that's the trajectory
- 57:34that we're all going to be experiencing because according to
- 57:39this article and just looking at Virginia's history right as
- 57:43an outsider, it would signal that she is not interested
- 57:46in the payout here, that she wants to go all
- 57:49the way. So we're gonna jump into two articles this morning,
- 57:54one relatively short one here from the New York Post
- 57:57talking about this payout, and the other one I want
- 58:00to get to is the one I was telling you
- 58:03that discusses the different scenarios for Maxwell once she's in jail.
- 58:08How considering her crimes, she won't be at a minimum
- 58:12security club fed type place, but more than likely at
- 58:16like a medium security. So we're going to touch on
- 58:20that as well. But first, let's take a look at
- 58:23this article from the New York Post and let's see
- 58:26what Lee Brown has to say. Prince Andrew's sexecuser wanted
- 58:31five million, but will no longer accept a payout. Prince
- 58:36Andrew's execuser had sought five million dollars to settle out
- 58:40of court, but will no longer accept a potential payout
- 58:43because she wants the case to go to trial. According
- 58:45to a report, And like I said last night when
- 58:48we were talking, I figured that this was the case
- 58:52just from following Virginia's history and you know, seeing the
- 58:56way that she has proceeded here, I really have any doubt,
- 59:00honestly that she was going to pursue this to the
- 59:03very end and really turn the heat up on Prince Andrew.
- 59:08Virginia Roberts issuing the sixty one year old UK royal
- 59:11for allegedly having sex with her three times, starting when
- 59:14she was just seventeen. That makes it seem kind of like,
- 59:19you know, ay, they just had sex and now she
- 59:21regrets it. It's not the case. She was seventeen years
- 59:25old and she was flown to England by Jeffrey Epstein
- 59:28and Glene Maxwell with the express purpose of having sex
- 59:33with Prince Andrew. That's why she was brought there, little
- 59:36seventeen year old girl. Remember seventeen years old? Oh well,
- 59:40the age of consent in England is sixteen. Yeah, guess
- 59:43what what if it was your daughter? How would you
- 59:46feel then? Would it be the same thing? Would you
- 59:48still have the same blase attitude about it? Somehow? I
- 59:53highly doubt it. Sources told The Telegraph that she initially
- 59:58sought a settlement of five million dollars from Andrew, ten
- 1:00:02times the five hundred grand she got from Jeffrey Epstein,
- 1:00:05the late pedophile, who she says ordered her to have
- 1:00:08disgusting sex with the Prince. Well, Inflation's the son of
- 1:00:11a bitch, isn't it. You got all these wacky ass
- 1:00:14lame politicians out there telling us how great inflation is
- 1:00:18for poor people. Yeah, okay, sure, spoken like somebody who's
- 1:00:21never been poor before. And the same goes for this.
- 1:00:25Oh well, it's ten times the amount she got from Epstein. Well,
- 1:00:30ten years later, a whole bunch of years later. That's
- 1:00:33how it works, right, And frankly, five millions not enough.
- 1:00:40Now I would sue him. If it was me, I
- 1:00:42would sue this dude for the five million. I want
- 1:00:44the Crown Jewels of England. I want Sandringham. I would
- 1:00:48go crazy. I'd ask for all kinds of wild shit
- 1:00:51if it was me, just to prove a point. But
- 1:00:55now that, But now that the case looks set to
- 1:00:58go to trial this year, the law time accuser is
- 1:01:00no longer willing to settle out of court, the paper
- 1:01:03sources said. Robert's, a founder of the nonprofit Speak Out
- 1:01:08Act reclaim Sore, helping sex trafficking survivors, wants to instead
- 1:01:13show the legal consequences for those praying on young girls,
- 1:01:17the paper said. And look, this has been Virginia's purpose
- 1:01:21and intent for quite some time. If you just follow
- 1:01:24her posts on Twitter and what she has to say there,
- 1:01:27she is, uh, you know, had enough. It certainly would
- 1:01:31seem like she has had enough and there's no more
- 1:01:34retreating for her. It's biting down on the mouthpiece and
- 1:01:37moving to the center of the octagon to throw bombs
- 1:01:40at this point. And that's what you have to do
- 1:01:42with bullies, right You can't run from bullies. You can't
- 1:01:45expect them to stop, because they won't. The only way
- 1:01:49to deal with a bully is to three piece them up.
- 1:01:53That's it's the only way, and that's what Virginia is
- 1:01:56looking to do here, to piece these dudes up. She
- 1:02:02believes that accepting a payout from the scandal scarred son
- 1:02:05of Queen Elizabeth would not advance that message. The UK
- 1:02:09paper said, I agree, it really wouldn't right. All he
- 1:02:12would do is open the door for more people to
- 1:02:14try and you know, demean her and call her somebody
- 1:02:17who's just looking for a payday, when in reality it's
- 1:02:20a lot more than that. Her lawyer, David Boyce, previously
- 1:02:25confirmed that her camp had offered the Royal the chance
- 1:02:28to enter a tolling agreement, which would have given Andrew
- 1:02:31time to negotiate a settlement privately. The Prince never accepted
- 1:02:35the offer and instead initially tried to dodge getting served
- 1:02:39the Manhattan Court papers in the suit. According to previous
- 1:02:43hearings and filings, well we remember that old boy was
- 1:02:46ducking in dodging like rip Torn was throwing wrenches at him.
- 1:02:51The dude's an absolute clown, a joke and an embarrassment.
- 1:02:55To a great nation. I mean, I can't tell you
- 1:02:59how many g eight people I know from the UK,
- 1:03:01and I can't tell you how many of them were
- 1:03:03mortified by the behavior of this scoundrel ass scumbag. His
- 1:03:11lawyers have since fought to get the case against him dismissed,
- 1:03:14claiming that Robert's settlement with Epstein, which was made public
- 1:03:17last week, also covers him from liability. I thought you
- 1:03:21never met her. How could it cover you for liability
- 1:03:24if you have never even met her? Oh wait, that's right,
- 1:03:27you lied. You did meet her, and you were with
- 1:03:29her at Glenn Maxwell's house, and you were with her
- 1:03:32at Tramp and you did have your arm around her
- 1:03:34and you can sweat, Okay. So basically what I'm trying
- 1:03:40to say here is you're a liar. As of Friday,
- 1:03:44Judge Lewis Kaplan had yet to issue a decision on
- 1:03:46the motion, but at a hearing Tuesday, the judge appeared
- 1:03:50to suggest the settlement was not clear enough to keep
- 1:03:52the Prince from getting sued. Roberts for years has insisted
- 1:03:56that Epstein and has now convicted Madam Madam no co conspirator,
- 1:04:01fellow child abuser, general all around scuzbag Glean Maxwell forced
- 1:04:05her to have disgusting sex with the prince three times
- 1:04:09in London, New York and on Epstein's private island in
- 1:04:13the Caribbean. Andrew's legal team has called the lawsuit baseless
- 1:04:17and said he unequivocally denies Robert's false allegations against him. Well, good,
- 1:04:22you're gonna have your chance in court. It seems like buddy,
- 1:04:24to defend yourself because it doesn't look like Virginia is
- 1:04:28interested in settling out of court with your bitch ass.
- 1:04:32So buckle up, homie. You better call your boy Marty Singer,
- 1:04:35you better hit up Brettler, and you better get ready.
- 1:04:40Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking and other charges December
- 1:04:43twenty ninth in Manhattan Federal Court and faces up to
- 1:04:47sixty five years in prison. She was accused of procuring
- 1:04:50victims for her buddy Epstein and engaging in some of
- 1:04:53the abuse as well. Well, at least they're getting that
- 1:04:56right nowadays. The papers are at least saying she was
- 1:04:59taking part in the abuse. Now, I guess one step
- 1:05:02out of time, huh. Her lawyers are now pushing for
- 1:05:05a mistrial after two jurors have admitted swaying deliberations with
- 1:05:10tales of their own childhood abuse that they may not
- 1:05:13have declared before being picked for the panel. Epstein killed
- 1:05:17himself in a Manhattan jail cell, allegedly in August twenty nineteen,
- 1:05:21while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. So I wanted
- 1:05:26to touch on this article just real quick, because we
- 1:05:28brought this up last night and I was just taking
- 1:05:31a shot in the dark here, taking a guess when
- 1:05:34I said I didn't think that Virginia was going to
- 1:05:37be interested in a payout here, and that she'd be
- 1:05:39interested in going all the way. And I just I
- 1:05:42wake up this morning and I see this article. So
- 1:05:45I figured we'd add this to the front end of
- 1:05:48the other article I had ready for us to go.
- 1:05:50So it gives a little bit more context, right, and
- 1:05:53a little bit more of an idea of where Virginia
- 1:05:56is and what her game plan is going to be.
- 1:05:59And I'll tell you what, folks, I cannot wait for
- 1:06:02this to go to trial, all right, So let's check
- 1:06:06out our next article. This article is from Fortune dot
- 1:06:11Com and the authors are Bob van Vories, Chris Dolmich,
- 1:06:17and Bloomberg. Headline Glenn Maxwell's prison won't be like the
- 1:06:22Camp Cupcake where Martha Stewart served her sentence. Glenn Maxwell's
- 1:06:29high society days are over as she faces years in
- 1:06:32a prison that's likely to be harsher than the so
- 1:06:35called Camp Cupcake prison where Martha Stewart served. Now, there's
- 1:06:39all kinds of different prisons, as you well know, you
- 1:06:42have high security, maximum security prisons, medium security prisons, low
- 1:06:47security prisons, prison camps, all kinds of wild stuff. And
- 1:06:52Martha Stewart was able to serve her sentence at a
- 1:06:55low security camp where you know, it's like a dormitory
- 1:06:59style set, and you know it's very lax, if you will,
- 1:07:04if prison can be lax, but there's no like regulations
- 1:07:08like there are in a high security facility where you know,
- 1:07:13you're only out on the yard for so little amount
- 1:07:16of time, that kind of thing, whereas at a low
- 1:07:19security place you have a lot more freedom. And in
- 1:07:23some of these places there aren't even fences around these camps. Now,
- 1:07:28I know, when I went and visited people I care
- 1:07:31about at a federal lockup in Lompoc, they were at
- 1:07:34a low security portion of the prison and they could
- 1:07:38have literally walked right out of the jail if they
- 1:07:41wanted to. But then when you get caught, and you
- 1:07:46will get caught, you go to a higher security facility
- 1:07:49after that to serve out the rest of your term,
- 1:07:52plus whatever they tack on for you walking out of
- 1:07:54the facility. So that's kind of a deterrent for people
- 1:08:00these low security facilities to not leave right. They don't
- 1:08:04want to get any years tagged onto it, and they
- 1:08:08don't want to go and do hard time. I know,
- 1:08:10if I was going to prison or jail or whatever,
- 1:08:13I'd much prefer to go to one of these camps.
- 1:08:16But when you have the charges that Maxwell has, and
- 1:08:19you've been convicted of what Maxwell has been convicted of,
- 1:08:23You're not going to Camp Cupcake. You're going to at
- 1:08:26least a medium security level facility, and things are going
- 1:08:31to be a lot tougher on her, a lot more regimented. Maxwell,
- 1:08:37the ex socialite, co conspirator, general all around scusbag of
- 1:08:41disgraced financier pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted Wednesday on five
- 1:08:46counts tied to sexual abuse, including the most serious charge
- 1:08:50of sex trafficking of a minor, which carries a maximum
- 1:08:53sentence of forty years because she was convicted of sex crimes.
- 1:08:57Maxwell won't be assigned to a minimum security prison camp
- 1:09:01like the one in Alderson, West Virginia that house Stuart
- 1:09:04with a dormitory style housing and limited fencing, according to
- 1:09:08prison consultant Justin Paperny, And that's what I was just
- 1:09:12talking about. It's like you'd be shocked, right. I was
- 1:09:15under the impression that jail or prison, you know, was
- 1:09:19like you see in the movies. Then when I went
- 1:09:21and visited the people that I went to see while
- 1:09:24they were doing their sentence, it was a kind of,
- 1:09:28you know, shocking to me that they could have literally
- 1:09:31just walked out of the facility if they wanted. Alderson
- 1:09:36has been called Camp Cupcake by critics who faulted for
- 1:09:40its custody conditions and activities that include progressive relaxation. Well,
- 1:09:45I don't know about all of that, but I'm a
- 1:09:47big fan of rehabilitation while people are in prison, and
- 1:09:50especially if you're in there for nonviolent crimes. What we
- 1:09:53should throw people who were arrested for nonviolent crimes right
- 1:09:57into the mix with the rest of the act the
- 1:09:59real scumback the world. Nah, I don't think that's the
- 1:10:02right way to go about things either. Now, progressive relaxation,
- 1:10:06I don't know what that even means, to be honest
- 1:10:08with you, so I can't tell you if I agree
- 1:10:10with it or not. But I am a fan of
- 1:10:13rehabilitation when people are in prison, except for the most
- 1:10:16heinoused of crimes, right these kinds of sex crimes or
- 1:10:19you're a murderer. Look, you can't rehabilitate from stuff like that.
- 1:10:24So if Maxwell is given closer to the high end
- 1:10:29of what she faces, she'll likely end up in a
- 1:10:31medium security prison. According to Paperni, who runs White Collar Advice,
- 1:10:36which advises clients facing prison, She's imagine, imagine you're facing
- 1:10:41prison and you got to call this guy and get
- 1:10:43a game plan on what you should do when you
- 1:10:45get to the whoscal forget it. I mean, I don't
- 1:10:50even know what I would do. I don't even like
- 1:10:51being confined, you know, at my desk for eight hours,
- 1:10:56never mind being in jail or a prison cell. It
- 1:10:58seems like the most a terrifying thing in the world
- 1:11:03to me, honestly, having my freedom taken. I can't even imagine.
- 1:11:10She is probably in shock and will be for some time,
- 1:11:13said ingrid Let. Her house Oaken, a former executive at
- 1:11:16Tiffany and Company who spent ten months at Alderson after
- 1:11:19admitting to stealing from the company. With proper counseling, she
- 1:11:23can make her sentence productive if she focuses on giving back,
- 1:11:27meaning helping others and taking full responsibility for her actions. Nah,
- 1:11:31this again, this isn't a white collar crime. This isn't
- 1:11:34somebody who stole a couple of bucks. This is somebody
- 1:11:37who stole people's lives. Literally, this lady is a life vampire.
- 1:11:44And you know, I don't care what she does while
- 1:11:47she's in there. There's nothing that can take back what
- 1:11:50she did. She needs to do the full sentence, whatever
- 1:11:52that may be. Maxwell's attorney said late Wednesday that she
- 1:11:57will appeal the verdict. Maxwell's trial judge didn't set a
- 1:12:00sentencing date for the for Maxwell, who still faces trial
- 1:12:04on two perjury counts. That trial hasn't been scheduled. The
- 1:12:08decision where to house Maxwell will be up to the
- 1:12:10Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Bureau doesn't comment on individual cases,
- 1:12:15but factors considered in assigning inmates include the security and
- 1:12:19supervision the inmate requires any medical or programming, needs separation
- 1:12:24and security measures to ensure the inmates protection, and other
- 1:12:28considerations including proximity to an individual's release residence. According to
- 1:12:33spokesman Donald Murphy, Yeah, that's nice in a concept, right,
- 1:12:39How often do they practice it? Though? I know my
- 1:12:42loved ones were scattered all over the country, So I
- 1:12:47mean maybe they help people like Maxwell get put someplace
- 1:12:51close to home, but when it comes to the rest
- 1:12:53of us, forget it. Inmates and higher security facilities are
- 1:12:59generally can find to cells rather than rooms and endure
- 1:13:03more intense security procedures. Those prisons tend to house people
- 1:13:06who are convicted of more serious crimes, have longer prison sentences,
- 1:13:11and are more prone to violence. So again, if you're
- 1:13:15somebody like Maxwell, you beyond all measure, want to get
- 1:13:20to a low security facility. She's not built for this life.
- 1:13:24What She's gonna hit the yard and she's gonna gee up,
- 1:13:27someone's gonna check her, and she's gonna gee up and
- 1:13:30chin check that person. Yeah right, she's gonna walk in.
- 1:13:34She's not gonna have her paperwork hooped, none of it,
- 1:13:37and she's gonna get exploited and beat up. And who
- 1:13:41knows what else that's if she's on the general yard.
- 1:13:45She's not gonna hit the general line though. See during
- 1:13:48the whole entire lead up to the trial, her team
- 1:13:51kept talking about how she wanted to be in the
- 1:13:54general population, and I laughed and laughed and laughed and
- 1:13:57mocked them for that. So I want to see how
- 1:14:00quickly they're talking about general population when she gets the prison. Somehow,
- 1:14:05I doubt they're going to bring it up. They're gonna
- 1:14:07want her and protective custody. Oh, she's a high level inmate.
- 1:14:11All of a sudden, she needs to be protected. That's
- 1:14:14what they'll say. And I get it. I agree, but
- 1:14:16let's be real. Still, anywhere she goes will likely be
- 1:14:25an upgrade from the Brooklyn Federal lockup, where she's been
- 1:14:28held since charged in July twenty twenty with helping Epstein
- 1:14:32sexually abuse underage girls. Prior to her conviction, Maxwell, the
- 1:14:37daughter of the British media tycoon Robert Maxwell, made numerous
- 1:14:41complaints about her conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center, a
- 1:14:45jail that federal investigators have deemed among the worst in
- 1:14:48the US Bureau of Prison systems. Well, guess what play
- 1:14:53stupid games, win stupid prizes. Where did you think you
- 1:14:56were going to go and do your jail time? You
- 1:14:58thought you were going to hang out at the wall,
- 1:15:00and you're you know, pay for your security to protect
- 1:15:02you around the clock while you sit around and eat
- 1:15:05bond bonds. Wrong. Enjoy the MDC and all of the
- 1:15:10shittiness of it, because guess what, how many countless people
- 1:15:16have been through those doors, how many countless people have
- 1:15:19sat in those same jail cells. It's just the way
- 1:15:23it goes, Glenn Maxwell. These are the rules you and
- 1:15:25your friends have put on the books, right you and
- 1:15:27all your powerful buddies in DC. Well, you reap what
- 1:15:31you sew, don't you. She's enduring arguably the worst and
- 1:15:36filthiest prison in the country. It's a jail, not a prison,
- 1:15:39said Paperny. Wherever she serves her time will feel like
- 1:15:42Disneyland compared to where she is right now. I don't
- 1:15:45believe that for a second. When you're in this lock up,
- 1:15:49there's the hope that you're getting out and going home
- 1:15:51at some point when you go to this prison and
- 1:15:53that you know, gate closes. Oh, it's a rap for you.
- 1:15:58It's all been a startling turn for Maxwell, who was
- 1:16:01arrested at a million dollars one hundred and fifty six
- 1:16:04acre estate in New Hampshire and owned the New York
- 1:16:06City townhouse that sold in twenty and sixteen for about
- 1:16:10fifteen million, as well as a London home in Belgravia.
- 1:16:14Federal investigators found that MDC prisoners have been beaten, raped,
- 1:16:19and held in inhumane conditions. Maxwell has complained about being
- 1:16:23held in solitary confinement under twenty four hour surveillance and
- 1:16:27being awakened every few hours each night. I mean, that
- 1:16:31would be the least of her problems, right If she
- 1:16:34was on the general line, she'd be exploited, extorted, you
- 1:16:38name it, she said. Conditions left are exhausted and unable
- 1:16:47to properly help prepare her defense. Of the one hundred
- 1:16:50and fifty seven thousand, five hundred inmates currently in the
- 1:16:53federal prison system, fewer than eleven thousand, around seven percent
- 1:16:58are women. According to the Bureau of Prisons, of its
- 1:17:01one hundred and twenty two prison facilities in the US,
- 1:17:04only twenty nine house women, and eleven of those are
- 1:17:07short term lockups like the MDC where Maxwell was held
- 1:17:10for trial. Her future home will be based on the
- 1:17:14classification she receives from federal prison officials, said Jack Donson,
- 1:17:18a prison consultant who worked for the Bureau of Prisons
- 1:17:21for more than twenty three years. That will depend in
- 1:17:24part on the length of her sentence and a determination
- 1:17:27by prison authorities whether Maxwell, who has a US, UK
- 1:17:32and French citizenship, presents a risk to escape. Now, as
- 1:17:36much as I want to pile on here a risk
- 1:17:39to escape, I highly doubt that now. A risk to
- 1:17:42run and a risk to try and avoid charges, definitely,
- 1:17:46but we're not I mean, she's not Andy Dufrayne, right,
- 1:17:49She's not digging a hole through the wall and climbing
- 1:17:52through the septic system anytime soon. So that's probably the
- 1:17:56last of my concerns when it comes to Maxwell. If
- 1:18:01Maxwell has given a more lenient sentence, she may be
- 1:18:03headed to the low security federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut,
- 1:18:07known for housing Orange is the New Black. Author Piper
- 1:18:10Kerman and reality television star Teresa Judas said PAPERNI, Yeah,
- 1:18:15that's the prison in Danberry is notorious for that. You
- 1:18:21see a couple of mob guys that have been through there.
- 1:18:23You know that kind of deal, but Dohnson said the
- 1:18:28Bureau will likely assign a famous convict like Maxwell to
- 1:18:31a secure facility away from a major city, making the
- 1:18:35Danbury Prison not far from New York less likely. They're
- 1:18:38never going to put her near New York or anywhere.
- 1:18:41You're going to have reporters camping out on the road.
- 1:18:44He said, Well, this is America. Anyone can get to anywhere.
- 1:18:47I get the idea that it's a lot easier to
- 1:18:49access Danberry than it is to say, Lompok. But wherever
- 1:18:54she goes, there's going to be the media following. Differences
- 1:19:00between a minimum security camp and low security Federal Correctional
- 1:19:03Institution or FCI can be dramatic, said Larry Levine, founder
- 1:19:08of Wall Street Prison Consultants, who served more than ten
- 1:19:11years in federal prison and now advises convicted criminals on
- 1:19:15how to survive incarceration. I've had several friends due time
- 1:19:20in federal prison, and every single one of them has
- 1:19:23come back and said it was a miserable experience. I
- 1:19:27can't even imagine ten years, no thank you. Camps often
- 1:19:33have a relatively high proportion of non violent white collar offenders,
- 1:19:37and violence is rare. Violence is more likely in fcis,
- 1:19:41which can house bank robbers, drug dealers, and people convicted
- 1:19:44of sex crimes. So while camps don't have perimeter fences
- 1:19:48or armed security, fcis have two secured barbed wire fences
- 1:19:52with roving armed security. He said the doors to camp
- 1:19:55housing unit doors are never locked, a contrast to fcis
- 1:19:59were in mates are locked in at night, and that's
- 1:20:03I was trying to make that comparison earlier to you, folks.
- 1:20:06It really is night and day between the low security
- 1:20:10and medium security even and when I talked to my
- 1:20:15family members and friends who would serve time in federal facilities,
- 1:20:19they told me themselves the huge difference between minimum and
- 1:20:24even medium and how it was much more enjoyable, if
- 1:20:31anything can be enjoyable to be on the low security yard.
- 1:20:38Several consultants said Maxwell's notoriety and nature of her crime
- 1:20:42helping Epstein victimize teenage girls may make her a target.
- 1:20:46If she is still in denial that she did not
- 1:20:48contribute to the actions taken by herself and mister Epstein,
- 1:20:51she will be a pariah both inside and outside of
- 1:20:54the prison, said letter Has o'cun, who consults for white
- 1:20:57collar advice, Maxwell's education, wealth, and former jet setting lifestyle
- 1:21:02will set her apart for most inmates. She said, for sure,
- 1:21:06she's gonna get exploited if she's on the yard, folks,
- 1:21:09There's no doubt about it. Jeffrey Epstein was in the
- 1:21:12holding cell for what a few weeks and he was
- 1:21:14being exploited. You gotta remember, these prisoners have all day
- 1:21:20to sit around and come up with ways and plots
- 1:21:23and different scams, and that's what they do. Well. Maxwell
- 1:21:28will have an advantage because of her access to cash
- 1:21:31for food, clothing, makeup, and running shoes that other inmates
- 1:21:34can't afford. This can cause jealousy in others. Let her
- 1:21:37house o'coon said. Maxwell will likely be assigned a job
- 1:21:41well shell where she'll make a paltry twelve to fourteen
- 1:21:44cents an hour. Do it and don't complain. Let her
- 1:21:47house oaken advised. The worst thing she could do is
- 1:21:51whine about her situation. That is for sure. If you
- 1:21:54go to prison and you start whining and acting the
- 1:21:57fool crying about your circumstances, you're in for it. And
- 1:22:01Glane Maxwell, she better hope she goes to one of
- 1:22:04these low security facilities, folks, I've been saying it from
- 1:22:07the jump. None of these people are built for this.
- 1:22:10These people aren't from the street. They're not criminals in
- 1:22:14the sense of the word that you expect when you
- 1:22:16hear about prison. These are cowards who victimized young girls
- 1:22:21and vulnerable people. And when they get to prison, well
- 1:22:28guess what, the hunter becomes the hunted because these kinds
- 1:22:33of crimes, they don't go over very well in prison, folks.
- 1:22:37And somebody like Alane Maxwell with access to all this
- 1:22:40money and affluence, you got to know from the beginning
- 1:22:46she is going to be extorted, exploited, and the rest
- 1:22:50of it if she's put on the main line. So
- 1:22:52I would expect Gleann Maxwell to end up in some
- 1:22:55kind of you know, secure setting as far as the
- 1:22:59shoe or protective custody, not on the main line. And
- 1:23:02depending on what the charges are, I mean, the sentencing
- 1:23:05is obviously I'm guessing she's gonna end up in a
- 1:23:08medium security facility. But when you have her money, you
- 1:23:12never know. So there you have it, folks. That's the
- 1:23:15article I was telling you about a couple of days ago.
- 1:23:18I wanted to just touch on that real quick to
- 1:23:20get an idea and give you folks an idea of
- 1:23:23what might be coming next for Maxwell as far as
- 1:23:26her incarceration. So that's gonna do it for me this morning,
- 1:23:31and there will be more some more episodes out throughout
- 1:23:33the day, some context episodes, and like I said, I
- 1:23:36have a three part series about the War on drugs
- 1:23:39and Gary Webb, so I'm gonna post that today as well.
