- 0:00Speaker 1: Bomani Jones is with us here on stucattson Company. Check
- 0:03Speaker 1: out his podcast The Right Time with Bamani Jones wherever
- 0:06Speaker 1: you get your podcast. Before we get to the championship game,
- 0:09Speaker 1: before we get to Carolina Basketball, before we help Tailor
- 0:12Speaker 1: out here, because he is uh well, he's all kinds
- 0:15Speaker 1: of upset before to the idea of Mike Malone being
- 0:20Speaker 1: the next head coach at Carolina. Bamani, are you a
- 0:23Speaker 1: bench below the court or a bench at court level?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Type of guy?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Like?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Which way do you like it?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Oh?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I hate the elevated court.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Same. I can't stand it.
- 0:33Speaker 4: I can't stand it. I can't stand it. It makes
- 0:35Speaker 4: everything look.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Ridiculous, Like who asks for this?
- 0:38Speaker 3: I don't like.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I think no one's made a compelling case for me
- 0:41Speaker 4: for the elevated court. I'm also just generally an opponent
- 0:45Speaker 4: of basketball in domes, but I understand the capitalism is
- 0:48Speaker 4: gonna win on that one.
- 0:49Speaker 2: But the elevated court, I don't. I don't like it.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you. I feel like someone's gonna get hurt.
- 0:53Speaker 3: It's dangerous, you know, yes, yes.
- 0:55Speaker 4: And that And that's what they don't get, is that
- 0:57Speaker 4: just because you say nobody's gonna get hurt. Then change
- 1:00Speaker 4: the fact that it feels that way, and that is
- 1:02Speaker 4: not a comfortable viewing experience.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yes, if you put a future prop that in on
- 1:07Speaker 1: Mike Malone being the next head coach at North Carolina
- 1:10Speaker 1: at a billion to one, congratulations to you.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I mean, bumny, what the fuck is going on here?
- 1:16Speaker 4: I don't understand. It's not even that I don't understand it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Let's put a pin in the understanding part. My question
- 1:26Speaker 4: was simply whose idea this was? Because you like, when
- 1:32Speaker 4: you have an idea that nobody else has, chances are
- 1:39Speaker 4: it's either the best idea or the worst idea that
- 1:41Speaker 4: you've ever had when you're the only person who cooked
- 1:45Speaker 4: this up. And I feel like whoever cooked this idea
- 1:49Speaker 4: up was the only person who had this idea, right.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But I can't say that it's a bad idea. I
- 2:00Speaker 2: just never would have thought of that, right Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 4: So you know, I like if I see the people
- 2:07Speaker 4: who are down on the higher but I don't think
- 2:09Speaker 4: they have a compelling argument for being so down on
- 2:12Speaker 4: it other than I didn't. I never would have thought
- 2:15Speaker 4: of this. Right now, If the argument is, well, he's
- 2:18Speaker 4: an NBA coach and how well can an NBA coach
- 2:20Speaker 4: do in college? Okay, maybe that's fair, but we're taking
- 2:24Speaker 4: a guy that I believe was an excellent NBA coach,
- 2:28Speaker 4: and his biggest problem as an NBA coach is he
- 2:32Speaker 4: rode dudes a little bit too hard, which is something
- 2:35Speaker 4: that you typically can get away with in college. And
- 2:38Speaker 4: you can, on one hand make the argument that well,
- 2:41Speaker 4: with the transfer portal.
- 2:42Speaker 2: You can only do this with so much.
- 2:44Speaker 4: But the counterpoint is Mike Malowe's the guy that had
- 2:46Speaker 4: the great relationship with DeMarcus Cousins at a time where
- 2:50Speaker 4: no coach could figure out how to make that worker.
- 2:52Speaker 4: He seemed to be completely incorrigible. So there's a world
- 2:55Speaker 4: in which this works out very well. I don't know
- 2:58Speaker 4: who the staff is going to be. I do know
- 3:01Speaker 4: that the head coach of NCAA basketball program doesn't have
- 3:03Speaker 4: to recruit anymore.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Like that part doesn't really matter.
- 3:06Speaker 4: So if you're asking me, can somebody go get five seven,
- 3:10Speaker 4: eight guys and give him to Mike Malone and can
- 3:12Speaker 4: Mike Malone make a good basketball team?
- 3:14Speaker 2: I'm going to assume that he can.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Bo money, what would you say to the people who
- 3:19Speaker 5: are saying that everything that is a pro for Mike Malone.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Michael Malone, Sorry, they were also saying those pros for
- 3:27Speaker 5: Bill Belichick.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Taylor's one of those guys, so just say, you.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Know, yeah, this is a here's a major difference. Though.
- 3:34Speaker 4: The last team I saw Michael Malone coach was good, Yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 4: in the NBA. The last team I saw Bill Belichick
- 3:41Speaker 4: coach in the NFL was terrible. Like, the problems with
- 3:45Speaker 4: Bill Belichick seem to be very clearly Bill Belichick problems,
- 3:48Speaker 4: Like I don't think it's fair to extrapolate too much there. Also,
- 3:51Speaker 4: Michael Malone is twenty years younger than him. I don't
- 3:54Speaker 4: think that part is a small detail in the course
- 3:58Speaker 4: of this.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And Belichick's had this problem with the Patriots.
- 4:00Speaker 4: And he seemed to continue this problem with the with UNC,
- 4:05Speaker 4: which is, why do you keep getting these guys nobody
- 4:07Speaker 4: else wants? Right, Like why do you think that you
- 4:10Speaker 4: can make an acc team out of players from the MAC?
- 4:12Speaker 4: I don't understand, Like, like, why are you doing that?
- 4:15Speaker 4: And he was Basically he had a bit of a
- 4:17Speaker 4: track record for doing the same thing with the Patriots also,
- 4:20Speaker 4: but I have no reason to think that Mike Malone.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Mike Malone. Michael Malone is not is no longer the.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Coach at the of the Denver Nuggets, but not because
- 4:29Speaker 4: he got bad at his job, right, That to.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Me is the biggest difference between the two of those caves.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Like, I think that's a I understand why people say that,
- 4:36Speaker 4: but I think that's a lazy argument. Like if some
- 4:39Speaker 4: other school had hired Michael Malone, the response would not be, well,
- 4:43Speaker 4: look at what happened with Bill Belichick, you.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Know what I mean?
- 4:45Speaker 4: Right, Like, they're not the only thing they have in
- 4:47Speaker 4: common really is that they're both at North Carolina.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yes, uh, you know this program.
- 4:53Speaker 1: There is not a person I know that knows North Carolina,
- 4:57Speaker 1: the basketball program, the history of the program, what it
- 5:00Speaker 1: means to the people in Chapel Hill better than you, Bomani.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So I think what's going on here? This is just
- 5:06Speaker 1: so jarring because for the first time, Carolina went outside
- 5:10Speaker 1: the family, and that's not something people are accustomed to
- 5:13Speaker 1: in Chapel Hill.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I mean, guys, it's the first coaching search.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Sorry about that, it's the first coaching search that they've
- 5:20Speaker 4: had in seventy years, Like a legitimate I guess you
- 5:25Speaker 4: could make an argument there when they hired Dean Smith
- 5:27Speaker 4: in nineteen sixty one, that there was some measure of search,
- 5:30Speaker 4: But even that, as I recall, was an internal hire.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yes, they haven't had.
- 5:34Speaker 4: A coaching search in seventy something years. There was literally
- 5:37Speaker 4: no telling who would wind up getting this job because
- 5:41Speaker 4: there seem to be no candidates available from as they
- 5:45Speaker 4: like to say it, within the family. I mean, the
- 5:48Speaker 4: most qualified person to hire from within the family was
- 5:50Speaker 4: Hubert Davis.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yes, he's been to a Final four, he's been to
- 5:54Speaker 2: Sweet sixteen.
- 5:54Speaker 4: He's done not a terrible job at recruiting, like he
- 5:58Speaker 4: was the guy that had the best resume for it.
- 6:00Speaker 4: That Wes Miller out hoping one day that maybe he'd
- 6:02Speaker 4: be the guy. Nope, he got fired at Cincinnati. There
- 6:07Speaker 4: was nowhere else to go. So then once that happened,
- 6:09Speaker 4: it was like, ooh, it could be anybody. I thought
- 6:11Speaker 4: it would wind up being Billy Donovan's. I understand the
- 6:15Speaker 4: argument that if you feel like you can't wait for
- 6:17Speaker 4: Billy Donovan, I think what seems to be more likely
- 6:20Speaker 4: is that Billy Donovant has outlasted everybody else in Chicago
- 6:23Speaker 4: and he will get kicked upstairs and he would rather
- 6:25Speaker 4: do that job than to coach college basketball, which I mean,
- 6:29Speaker 4: I could totally get this.
- 6:31Speaker 2: The other names that you would.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Think of going to get, you could get guys that
- 6:35Speaker 4: would be okay, but it was going to be nobody
- 6:37Speaker 4: that would really excite you.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But the truth is, if this job is.
- 6:41Speaker 4: What I think it is, and I think what I
- 6:44Speaker 4: would turn of, most reasonable people believe that it is.
- 6:47Speaker 4: You don't need a great coach to do a very
- 6:49Speaker 4: good job at this school.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yes, what do you believe? Yeah, you don't know, But
- 6:54Speaker 1: what do you believe this job to be? You still
- 6:55Speaker 1: believe it to be one of the premier jobs.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Right, I if they can get the money right and
- 7:03Speaker 4: get some alignment going with the people who make decisions.
- 7:07Speaker 4: And I'm not nearly as tapped in on these things
- 7:09Speaker 4: as I once was, but neither of those things seems.
- 7:11Speaker 2: To truly be the case. Right.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yes, But if they can get that right, it's still
- 7:16Speaker 4: North Carolina, Right, they still have the institutional commitment to
- 7:20Speaker 4: being good at basketball. I don't know how much of
- 7:23Speaker 4: the stuff that used to matter in terms of recruiting
- 7:26Speaker 4: continues to matter now, But I don't think you have
- 7:30Speaker 4: a compelling argument for there somehow being jobs that are
- 7:32Speaker 4: better than this one to have, unless somebody's trying to
- 7:34Speaker 4: make the point now that all the jobs are the same,
- 7:37Speaker 4: which I'm not far enough down the road yet to.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Get to that place, get to the place of saying.
- 7:42Speaker 4: That I know that in my life and nil and
- 7:45Speaker 4: all this has changed everything, But I know that in
- 7:47Speaker 4: my life anytime there's been these big time programs, whether
- 7:49Speaker 4: it be a football or basketball, with the exception of
- 7:52Speaker 4: Indiana basketball, and they start telling you.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Oh man, it's not like it used to be. Oh man,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Oklahoma's not a big deal anymore like that. Oh man,
- 7:59Speaker 2: us see, it doesn't matter like that. Hey hey, Ohio State,
- 8:02Speaker 2: you really think it's gonna be the No, they all been,
- 8:05Speaker 2: they all been the same. Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah, But Taylor's upset because he feels like Iowa and
- 8:10Speaker 1: Iowa State turned down this job.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Were you surprised by the amount of people who turned
- 8:14Speaker 3: down this job.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Let's find out how many of them actually trying out?
- 8:19Speaker 4: You know what I mean, Like, a great way to
- 8:21Speaker 4: make yourself look good is to pull your name out
- 8:24Speaker 4: of contention for a job that you.
- 8:26Speaker 2: May not have, like actually had.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I'm just saying this and I know that maybe somebody
- 8:34Speaker 4: really gets charged up about working.
- 8:35Speaker 2: In the Midwest or anything else.
- 8:37Speaker 4: But if you say you got offered the North Carolina
- 8:39Speaker 4: job and you stayed at Iowa, that is the definition
- 8:42Speaker 4: of weird flex. But okay, like that, that does not
- 8:47Speaker 4: impress me about you.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Tommy Lloyd.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Not leaving Arizona is in line with historical precedent, Like
- 8:54Speaker 4: Arizona is not a job that people typically leave to
- 8:57Speaker 4: go do something better.
- 8:58Speaker 2: That's not that there.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I think Dan Walkin put it like this, if you
- 9:03Speaker 4: got a top twenty job, you typically.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Don't leave before a top five job.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Correct, there was a time where Arizona was really good.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Loud Olson would not have left Arizona to go to North.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Carolina, right, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, you
- 9:13Speaker 4: would not have it. Look, it's wild to look back
- 9:15Speaker 4: and think Arizona hasn't been to a Final four before
- 9:17Speaker 4: this year. They hadn't been one in twenty five years.
- 9:19Speaker 4: That was kind of a wild thing. But like you
- 9:21Speaker 4: got a job where you could make some hey, you
- 9:22Speaker 4: go ahead and do it. There's a pretty clear ceiling
- 9:25Speaker 4: on how good you could be at Iowa. I think
- 9:27Speaker 4: one would say if you would not leave that to
- 9:30Speaker 4: go to North Carolina. I don't think that speaks to
- 9:32Speaker 4: the job at North Carolina.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Bo MANI, when Michael Malone takes this job, do you
- 9:35Speaker 5: think he's taking it with the thought that he's going
- 9:38Speaker 5: to be the North Carolina coach until he retires, or
- 9:41Speaker 5: is he taking this job thinking best case scenario. I'm
- 9:44Speaker 5: back at the NBA in a couple of years, my
- 9:47Speaker 5: pick of my pick a team.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I have questions about what teams wanted to hire him, Yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 4: whether that was an option. I know he has daughters
- 9:59Speaker 4: who were at Carolina, which I am sure made this
- 10:02Speaker 4: job much more attractive for him because.
- 10:04Speaker 2: He's probably spent a lot of this year.
- 10:05Speaker 4: You probably spend more time around him daughters than he
- 10:08Speaker 4: has like ever before in his life, like when they
- 10:10Speaker 4: get out of school.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Maybe it's a different sort of question.
- 10:13Speaker 4: He's just like everybody's going to see how everybody feels
- 10:17Speaker 4: about each other when they do this job. I'd like
- 10:21Speaker 4: if he only stays five years, which is totally on
- 10:23Speaker 4: the board. It may be because everybody is tired of
- 10:26Speaker 4: everybody after five years, but you might win a championship
- 10:28Speaker 4: in the course of those five years, you know what
- 10:30Speaker 4: I mean?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Like that's that's on the board.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I don't I find it unlikely that he's just like, oh,
- 10:35Speaker 4: I'm doing this to parlay this into an NBA job.
- 10:38Speaker 4: That would be a weird tactic if that's what he
- 10:40Speaker 4: was going to do, because I don't think he needed
- 10:42Speaker 4: to go coach at North Carolina in order get himself
- 10:43Speaker 4: an NBA job.
- 10:44Speaker 2: If an NBA job was there for him to get.
- 10:46Speaker 1: How about if you're one of his daughters, you don't
- 10:48Speaker 1: want dad roaming around campus?
- 10:49Speaker 4: I mean, geez, on one level, yes, you are correct,
- 10:54Speaker 4: I personally would not. But let me tell you somewhere,
- 10:57Speaker 4: Michael Malone will not want to be very much, if
- 10:59Speaker 4: at all, which is roaming around campus.
- 11:03Speaker 2: As the head coach of the basketball team.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Like, I can't imagine anything more stressful than if Mike
- 11:13Speaker 4: Malone just decides to go to Lenore Hall to get
- 11:15Speaker 4: some Chick fil A and then go hang out in
- 11:18Speaker 4: the pit before buying souvenirs at the bookstore.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Now, who wins the title first, Michael Malone or John Shire?
- 11:31Speaker 2: I mean, I don't really.
- 11:32Speaker 3: People are starting to look at Shy are funny man?
- 11:34Speaker 3: They are they are they are.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I don't like to predict my own misery.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Like if there's are if there's a benevolent God, it's
- 11:41Speaker 4: Michael Malone.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's like four times before john Shire ever gets one. Yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 2: if Michael Malone.
- 11:47Speaker 4: What I would love about this is if somewhere in
- 11:50Speaker 4: this Michael Malone decides he doesn't like John Shire because
- 11:53Speaker 4: he is not the type of person to hide the
- 11:55Speaker 4: fact that he doesn't like somebody like this, I.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Do think that it's worth voting.
- 12:00Speaker 4: This is the first time since Doherty, the Carolina's had
- 12:03Speaker 4: a coach that has like he was a bit confrontational.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Roy wasn't really confrontational. Michael Malone is can is confrontational.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I mean like I'd love to see him really lean
- 12:15Speaker 4: in on to beef like I feel like in the
- 12:17Speaker 4: NBA you don't really get to just actively dislike people
- 12:20Speaker 4: like you're allowed to do in college, Like I wipe.
- 12:22Speaker 2: He turned that shit all the way up.
- 12:23Speaker 1: To be perfectly honest, I was telling Taylor, who's been
- 12:27Speaker 1: bashing the Fab five?
- 12:30Speaker 3: I was telling him earlier today, you've been doing what?
- 12:33Speaker 5: So I wasn't bashing the Fab five. I'm just saying
- 12:36Speaker 5: anytime Michigan basketball is good. Here comes the Fab Five
- 12:39Speaker 5: to kind of make it all about themselves.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So Bamani I was explaining to him that if you
- 12:43Speaker 1: gave a Michigan basketball fan the choice today the morning
- 12:47Speaker 1: after Michigan won a national championship, and you said, hey,
- 12:51Speaker 1: Michigan fan, you can hang out with the Fab five
- 12:54Speaker 1: for a day, or you can hang out with the
- 12:56Speaker 1: five guys who won you a national championship last night,
- 12:59Speaker 1: they would all use the Fab Five?
- 13:01Speaker 3: Am I wrong? Yeah?
- 13:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I do think that they were a
- 13:04Speaker 4: phenomenon that's kind of difficult to explain, especially now since
- 13:09Speaker 4: the idea of like having five freshmen is it nearly
- 13:11Speaker 4: as crazy as it seemed at the time. Though, I
- 13:16Speaker 4: do have to say, and I say this to somebody who's,
- 13:20Speaker 4: you know, pretty chummy with a couple of those guys,
- 13:22Speaker 4: Taylor's not wrong every time.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Every time it is it is Fab five time.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Right now, Keeping in mind that two years before the
- 13:36Speaker 4: Fab five showed up on campus, Michigan didn't just win
- 13:39Speaker 4: a national championship.
- 13:40Speaker 2: They won a national championship under some very.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Interesting circumstances where their head coach was fired by the
- 13:44Speaker 4: athletic department immediately before the tournament, and that team had
- 13:49Speaker 4: a starting five that all played in the NBA, and
- 13:52Speaker 4: three of them were like for real NBA players like
- 13:54Speaker 4: Glenn Rice, Loyd Vault, and Terry Mills were like for
- 13:57Speaker 4: real NBA guys.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I don't see those dudes anywhere.
- 14:01Speaker 4: And Glenn Rice has the greatest Remember what I did
- 14:05Speaker 4: when we went to Alaska story that anybody's ever had.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I don't know if you boys remember that one.
- 14:11Speaker 4: No, he uh, it didn't mean nothing at the time
- 14:15Speaker 4: when it happened, I want to say, in nineteen eighty seven,
- 14:17Speaker 4: but when Sarah Palin became the nominee for Vice president, yes,
- 14:22Speaker 4: we found out that she knew Glenn Rice.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yes, how could I forgot?
- 14:31Speaker 2: I never did, No, I never will.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was, you know what, I was kind of agreeing
- 14:38Speaker 1: with Taylor yesterday where I'm like, Hey, how come you
- 14:41Speaker 1: don't trot out Lloyd Vaunt.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And Rameil Robinson and have him to do a little sidecast.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I think.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Rameil got himself into some measure of trouble. But I
- 14:48Speaker 4: had to say, at first I thought Taylor was just
- 14:50Speaker 4: being you know, young and stupid. But as I gave
- 14:54Speaker 4: it a little bit more thought I had to say
- 14:56Speaker 4: to myself, he's not I.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Understand the point that he's making.
- 14:59Speaker 4: The point that I don't like that people try to
- 15:01Speaker 4: make about the Fab five is that they never won
- 15:03Speaker 4: their conference or the national championship.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah. All they did was go to two national championship games.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't win it.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Right, if you want the Islamic jam, I never won
- 15:15Speaker 4: a national championship. But nobody says, why do we talk
- 15:17Speaker 4: about fat Slama.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Jama correct for money? If you want to take it Jersey, no.
- 15:22Speaker 4: No, no, no no, no, you got that. I'll never
- 15:24Speaker 4: if I ever use it, I'll always give you credit. Brother,
- 15:27Speaker 4: we we we give citation over here.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I'll give you that take. He doesn't need your help
- 15:34Speaker 3: with takes.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Now, you gotta think about it. Bat I'm like the Yankees, right,
- 15:38Speaker 4: the Yankees. The Yankees can give credit to everybody, right.
- 15:41Speaker 4: They can retire Bernie Williams jersey, whatever it is, the
- 15:43Speaker 4: Red Sox. You gotta be like a one to one
- 15:45Speaker 4: Hall of Famer before they retire your jersey over there,
- 15:48Speaker 4: because they ain't put up. They just ain't put up.
- 15:50Speaker 4: As many batners saying what I'm saying I'm gonna put
- 15:52Speaker 4: up a lot of badness as a result. I can
- 15:54Speaker 4: get I can spread the credit around.
- 15:58Speaker 3: They were amazing, though, I mean the five freshmen going
- 16:00Speaker 3: to a title game.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they were. I mean Jalen Rose six eight playing point.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Guard, right, Yes, yes, you're gonna have a better time
- 16:07Speaker 1: with those five than you would with any other five
- 16:09Speaker 1: who's ever played it.
- 16:10Speaker 3: You can't.
- 16:11Speaker 2: But like the thing is, boy, you gotta watch out.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Juwan Howard be ready to fight.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Jalen and Chris got it back together apparently because I
- 16:19Speaker 4: ain't gonna lie, I said, left go at text. I
- 16:21Speaker 4: was like, it would be kind of funny if it
- 16:23Speaker 4: got weird for some reason, you.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Know what I mean, it just got a little bit weird.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It would be just to uh, just to kind of
- 16:30Speaker 1: explain to the audience just how thin the margins are
- 16:33Speaker 1: in terms of winning and losing. If Duke beats you, God,
- 16:36Speaker 1: does Duke win that national championship last night against Michigan.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I don't like to think about those.
- 16:45Speaker 3: They're not there.
- 16:47Speaker 2: What you described is possible, but.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Putting that in the universe to me just feels wrong. Yes,
- 16:56Speaker 4: you know, I do think this though, no and to
- 17:00Speaker 4: answer your questions, no, I don't think they went. I
- 17:02Speaker 4: think Michigan. I think Michigan was actually blowing people's doors
- 17:04Speaker 4: off for long enough through the course of that tournament.
- 17:06Speaker 4: The other thing is I'm not as sold on the
- 17:10Speaker 4: big Boozer as other people are.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Really I.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Felt like it was very similar to how I felt
- 17:19Speaker 4: about bank Caro four years ago, and it took a
- 17:22Speaker 4: while for me to come around and start looking a
- 17:24Speaker 4: little bit more correct. But I felt like ban Caro
- 17:27Speaker 4: had to work way too hard to get buckets against
- 17:29Speaker 4: Brady Mannick, and he would eventually get those buckets, but
- 17:32Speaker 4: it was not to me. It was not a good
- 17:34Speaker 4: sign that he had to work that hard to get
- 17:36Speaker 4: buckets against Brady Mannick. And I felt like Cameron Boozer
- 17:38Speaker 4: had to work a little bit too hard to get
- 17:40Speaker 4: some buckets and did not have nearly enough ideas on
- 17:44Speaker 4: how to get those buckets other than be bigger than people.
- 17:47Speaker 1: You're a kind and thoughtful man, So I'm wondering is
- 17:50Speaker 1: there any part of you that felt bad for Jaden
- 17:52Speaker 1: Boozer in that spot, I mean, just.
- 17:54Speaker 3: The small Oden booze.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I will tell you, yes, I will tell you what
- 17:58Speaker 4: I felt bad for him, because, you know, generally speaking
- 18:00Speaker 4: of course not but when he said he felt like
- 18:03Speaker 4: he let his brother down, I was like, damn, you've
- 18:05Speaker 4: lived a tough life. You weren't worried about john Shire,
- 18:09Speaker 4: you weren't worried about the team. You were worried that
- 18:12Speaker 4: you let your brother down, you know what I mean?
- 18:14Speaker 4: Like the idea that you were there to serve your
- 18:16Speaker 4: twin brother, Like I can't imagine being the shorter twin.
- 18:20Speaker 2: He's not even short, but he's not six'.
- 18:21Speaker 4: TEN i can't imagine what it's like to be a
- 18:24Speaker 4: twin and be way shorter than your.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Brother like that's, really, really really got a, STINK i.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Imagine but to truly feel like in that moment where
- 18:32Speaker 4: you gave up the booty in front Of america and
- 18:34Speaker 4: you just, LIKE i feel LIKE i let my brother. Down,
- 18:37Speaker 4: man you've been putting in a position that you should
- 18:39Speaker 4: have never been put.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Into.
- 18:40Speaker 4: BROTHER i felt. BAD i truly did feel bad for.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Him but before, THAT i ain't feel nothing for, him
- 18:45Speaker 4: nothing at.
- 18:46Speaker 2: All he the one that went.
- 18:48Speaker 3: To Do yeah you know What i'm, Saying you're, right, yes, yes, yes,
- 18:54Speaker 3: yes you're.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Right, Sorry by the, Way so it's funny BECAUSE i
- 19:00Speaker 1: guess the modern day equivalent of The fab five is
- 19:04Speaker 1: is five transfers coming. Together and, Right i've never seen anything.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Like they're just not as. COOL i, mean that's all it's.
- 19:16Speaker 4: NOT i, mean that's a that's another one that's a
- 19:18Speaker 4: little tougher. CARO a lot of fans they got The
- 19:20Speaker 4: Mike below. News they couldn't want a national championship looking
- 19:22Speaker 4: like a completely different player in the same.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Day, yes it's. Crazy, uh it also is crazy that
- 19:28Speaker 1: you know four. HOT i guess three hours after they
- 19:30Speaker 1: win the national championship last it was probably two hours
- 19:33Speaker 1: after they went the portals.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Open it's, like what are we? Doing, man it's the next, season, Right.
- 19:39Speaker 2: It's A it's a weird world out, here. Guys that's
