- 0:20SPEAKER_00: There are lots of wonderful scenes in Empire, but there's one in particular that has great application for writers.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Luke Skywalker is training with the Jedi Master Yoda on the planet Dagobah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: They're both getting frustrated because Luke is not catching on to the lessons as quickly as he wants.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And Yoda tells him that he must unlearn what he has learned.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And Luke responds that he'll try.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Then come the immortal words from Master Yoda.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Do or do not.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: There is no try.

- 1:04SPEAKER_00: As we've often talked about on this podcast, the big difference between successful and unsuccessful writers is not talent.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: It's the willingness to take action.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: You write a book or you don't.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: You start a podcast or you don't.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: You reach out to that prospective client or you don't.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: You set up your website or you don't.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: So is there an important task that you've been avoiding because you don't think you're worthy or talented enough?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Maybe you feel that you lack the skills or the knowledge that you need.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Well, never mind all that stuff.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: The only moment you have is right now.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Are you going to take action?
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Are you going to get it done?
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Do or do not.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: There is no try.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: You know, one of the very best ways to actually get things done and to make progress in our lives is to spend time around other successful people.
