- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi, welcome to Book Watchers. Where, am I okay? I'm
- 0:05Speaker 1: your host, Devin.
- 0:08Speaker 2: That's going to be the title of this episode.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Am I okay?
- 0:12Speaker 1: Am I okay?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And I'm joined with the one, the only, the beautiful,
- 0:19Speaker 1: the stunning, the magnificent, the bitch of.
- 0:26Speaker 1: He's a bitch. Uh, Jacob.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Coming from the bitch.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm not a bitch. I'm an angel. I'm a saint.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I am the, I am the, uh, I make your
- 0:39Speaker 1: life interesting. I am that little, I'm that little piece
- 0:44Speaker 1: of your life. You're just like, Oh my God, I
- 0:45Speaker 1: love that. He's in my life.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 1: He says that. And then I don't message him for
- 0:54Speaker 1: a day or two. And he's like, are you good?
- 0:56Speaker 1: He's like, are you okay?
- 1:01Speaker 2: I mean, for real though, like you, you stopped messaging
- 1:04Speaker 2: me and I'm just like.
- 1:06Speaker 1: No messages, no TikToks, nothing. And you're just like, hello.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Like if you, if you break our TikTok streak.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Oh, never, never.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We're at 700. Never. Uh-huh.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Never.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Never. I will kill somebody before that goes out.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I mean, there are days where like, I will, I'll
- 1:28Speaker 2: be busy and I won't even be on TikTok at all.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And then like near the end of the day, I'm
- 1:32Speaker 2: just like, oh shit.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Just got to like pop on the app and send
- 1:37Speaker 2: them and just send them a video.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Like a video. We have to save this trick. We
- 1:43Speaker 1: put too much work into that. I want to get
- 1:44Speaker 1: to a thousand.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I think what we're, our streak is 700. That's like
- 1:49Speaker 2: two years, right?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That's almost two years. Hold on. Let me look it up.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Let me pull it up right now just for the viewers.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Right now we're at.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Right now we are at 708.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Damn. 708.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Damn.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Damn.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Trust me. I was so mad when TikTok was going
- 2:16Speaker 1: to get shut down that we were going to lose
- 2:17Speaker 1: our streak. I was like, you sons of bitches.
- 2:20Speaker 2: How dare you what's like what's double what's uh what's
- 2:26Speaker 2: 365 doubled that's like.
- 2:30Speaker 1: 365 doubled okay let me pop my calculator because lord
- 2:34Speaker 1: knows i can't do math in my head uh 365
- 2:37Speaker 1: times two that's 7 30 so we're almost at like
- 2:42Speaker 1: a full two years oh my god we're almost at
- 2:46Speaker 1: two years oh We don't have a problem, y'all. We
- 2:54Speaker 1: don't have a problem. Tic Tacs trick is business. It's
- 2:57Speaker 1: real business. One of us breaks it. The other one
- 3:01Speaker 1: has the right to kill them. Period.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Like, there would need to be a legitimate reason why
- 3:08Speaker 2: it got broken.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Someone would have to be dying.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 2: In a hospital, fighting for our lives.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Because if none of those conditions are met, then the
- 3:19Speaker 2: other one's going to pull up.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Pull.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We're going to pull up like, like, bitch, what.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Are you doing?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Why can't you just go on TikTok for like
- 3:28Speaker 1: two seconds? It's in a video. See, this streak is
- 3:32Speaker 1: keeping us together. This streak is keeping our lives together.
- 3:34Speaker 1: The one thing we look forward to every day. No,
- 3:38Speaker 1: it's not. It's not the one thing I look forward
- 3:39Speaker 1: to every day, but like.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It's not.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I have to, I have to keep that streak.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And it's always like you, like always, I know like the,
- 3:48Speaker 2: the times when you're going to send me like, When
- 3:50Speaker 2: you start sending the videos, it's always like around 5am.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'll wake up and there's like, Oh, yep. Like one
- 3:56Speaker 2: or like several tech talks from Devin 5am. And then like,
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'll send them a few of my own and then
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'll start working. Uh, if this is during the week
- 4:03Speaker 2: and I go and I start working, I'll, uh, like
- 4:06Speaker 2: I'll be in the middle of work and then I'll
- 4:08Speaker 2: just get like a bunch of notifications from Devin's like, like,
- 4:10Speaker 2: like a range, it ranges between eight 30 and like 10.
- 4:13Speaker 2: That's when like, he'll usually start sending me a bunch.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And then like, I go on my breaks and I
- 4:17Speaker 2: start sending him more. And it's just a continuous, like,
- 4:21Speaker 2: it's just a continuous stream.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 2: A lot of videos. Sometimes I send them shit. That's funny.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Other times I just send them random videos.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Just like, I don't know.
- 4:29Speaker 2: If they'll like this, but I thought that was funny.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And it's just like, I have it at this point.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's just a habit. I have to, I have to
- 4:35Speaker 1: send them. And then when I get up at five
- 4:37Speaker 1: in the morning, cause I used to go pee break.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm like on the toilet going.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Anyway if you look in the description below you'll see
- 4:52Speaker 1: a link that'll take you to the other podcasts of
- 4:55Speaker 1: the neonic void family a podcast as well as the
- 4:58Speaker 1: patreon please go subscribe all that fun stuff will be
- 5:01Speaker 1: in the description below as per usual so today what
- 5:06Speaker 1: are we talking about today or what are you talking about.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So today we are going to be continuing our journey
- 5:13Speaker 2: down the rabbit hole that was the Project Nemesis saga.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So we're going to be doing the third quote-unquote book
- 5:22Speaker 2: of the series. Technically, it's the fourth book, if you
- 5:24Speaker 2: count Island 731. So the book that we are actually
- 5:27Speaker 2: reviewing today is a sequel and the conclusion to that storyline,
- 5:32Speaker 2: as a matter of fact. So we're going to be
- 5:34Speaker 2: reviewing Project 731. by Jeremy Robinson. So, this book is the, officially,
- 5:44Speaker 2: it's the third book in the Nemesis saga. Fourth book,
- 5:47Speaker 2: if you count the prequel, Island 731. Now, this book
- 5:52Speaker 2: is actually going to be exploring more of Nemesis's origins.
- 6:00Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So, we've already, we already knew. Nemesis is a bitch.
- 6:06Speaker 1: She is not a bitch. She is the bitch.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Is, she is that bitch.
- 6:10Speaker 1: She is that bitch.
- 6:11Speaker 2: She is the, she's the goddess of vengeance. We all
- 6:14Speaker 2: know that she's the goddess of vengeance. And, you know,
- 6:16Speaker 2: so basically that means she's the bitch. She's the goddess
- 6:18Speaker 2: of that bitch. And we'll pull up.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Literally.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Like the goddess of bitch. What I'll pull up right now.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Literally. She's already, she's already, she's already pulled up. She's like,
- 6:28Speaker 1: where you at?
- 6:29Speaker 2: If you read, if you read any, if you read
- 6:31Speaker 2: any of the dungeon crawler series.
- 6:33Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:34Speaker 2: There's a, there's a literal spell called bitch.
- 6:36Speaker 3: What?
- 6:37Speaker 2: And yeah. Yeah. Like, and literally the spell is just, like,
- 6:42Speaker 2: the spell of, like, bitch, I'll pull up.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Period.
- 6:46Speaker 1: She has that on lock, on standby. She has that
- 6:48Speaker 1: spell prepped.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, basically, like, that spell just causes, like, if you
- 6:54Speaker 2: cast it on someone, it causes them to, like, go
- 6:56Speaker 2: ballistic and start attacking everyone around them. And I'm just like, okay, cool. Well, like,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know what? God is a bitch what?
- 7:02Speaker 1: God is a bitch what?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. And... Let's see here. Sorry, let me get my
- 7:12Speaker 2: notes together. I was just, I was reviewing this earlier. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 2: so kind of bringing everyone back up to speed. So Nemesis,
- 7:24Speaker 2: at the conclusion of the previous book, Nemesis had barely
- 7:27Speaker 2: managed to escape into the ocean after defeating her offspring.
- 7:32Speaker 2: They're not technically her offspring. They're the offspring of the
- 7:36Speaker 2: original Nemesis, Nemesis Prime. But seeing as this nemesis is,
- 7:41Speaker 2: is like the clone of nemesis prime. It's like, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 2: kind of that weird thing that would happen with twins.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Like if you, if, if you have an identical twin
- 7:50Speaker 2: and you get, and you conceive a child, that child
- 7:52Speaker 2: is technically your twins child too, because genetically you're, the
- 7:57Speaker 2: two of you are so similar that like if your twin,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you and your twin had children, then your children are
- 8:02Speaker 2: technically biological siblings, not just cousins because dads are twins,
- 8:07Speaker 2: moms are twins. So, kind of, well, it's in that
- 8:11Speaker 2: kind of ballpark. Uh, but after, uh, so she took
- 8:15Speaker 2: a lot of damage from, uh, fighting the, from fighting
- 8:18Speaker 2: the other Kaiju and she barely managed to escape back
- 8:21Speaker 2: into the sea because as soon as the, as soon
- 8:23Speaker 2: as Nemesis killed the other Kaiju, the U S government
- 8:26Speaker 2: immediately turned on her and tried to kill her. Um,
- 8:29Speaker 2: And she fled back into the ocean. And when she
- 8:32Speaker 2: fled into the ocean, she had gone through a special
- 8:34Speaker 2: kind of process that allowed her to purge whatever remaining
- 8:39Speaker 2: human DNA is in her body. And whatever remaining human
- 8:43Speaker 2: DNA was in her body. And when she did that,
- 8:46Speaker 2: she ended up releasing a pod, purging it through a
- 8:50Speaker 2: little pod. And that pod actually had a fully matured
- 8:55Speaker 2: version of of the human DNA that she was cloned from,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and that was a girl named Maigo. So that was
- 9:05Speaker 2: the whole premise of Project Maigo, and that was also
- 9:07Speaker 2: what set up the premise of Project Nemesis. But now
- 9:12Speaker 2: Maigo herself has essentially been resurrected. Now, this is not
- 9:18Speaker 2: the original Maigo. This is just a clone of Maigo.
- 9:21Speaker 2: So she is her own person. She does have some
- 9:24Speaker 2: of the memories of her time while merged with Nemesis
- 9:29Speaker 2: and also has some vague memories of when she was
- 9:33Speaker 2: still alive. But nothing is very clear to her. And
- 9:38Speaker 2: now she's living with Hudson and Collins and the whole
- 9:43Speaker 2: Fusion Center P gang. And now Fusion Center P is
- 9:48Speaker 2: also joined by some newcomers, Mark Hawkins from Island 731,
- 9:52Speaker 2: his girlfriend Juliet, juliet and also their adopted child uh
- 9:58Speaker 2: a chimera named lily all right lily and mygo actually
- 10:01Speaker 2: become really good friends not only because they're close like
- 10:04Speaker 2: physically mygo and lily are about the same age uh
- 10:08Speaker 2: so they get along really well and they can relate
- 10:10Speaker 2: to each other because they both are the victims of
- 10:14Speaker 2: horrendous experimentations right they're both uh like Lily's mother was
- 10:20Speaker 2: literally a creature called Kaiju, who was this grotesque chimera
- 10:26Speaker 2: creature created by Unit 731. We actually learn a little bit,
- 10:30Speaker 2: we learn a lot more about the organization that continued
- 10:33Speaker 2: the experiments on Island 731. That organization was called G.O.D.,
- 10:38Speaker 2: Genetic Offense Directive, or G.O.D. G.O.D. G.O.D. And they were
- 10:45Speaker 2: the ones that had continued the experiments on Island 731.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And they were also the ones that orchestrated its destruction
- 10:53Speaker 2: because when Mark Hawkins and other survivors managed to escape
- 10:57Speaker 2: from the island, almost immediately afterwards, the whole island was
- 11:01Speaker 2: carpet bombed. So completely annihilated, not only as a way
- 11:06Speaker 2: to cover up their involvement, but also to destroy the BFSs.
- 11:13Speaker 2: if you remember from our review from Island 731, BFS
- 11:17Speaker 2: stands for big fucking spider.
- 11:19Speaker 4: All right.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And it's an appropriate name. The BFSs were these chimeras
- 11:26Speaker 2: that looked like they had the shell of a snapping turtle.
- 11:29Speaker 2: They had the eight legs of a spider and like
- 11:31Speaker 2: the face and mandibles, like the mandible jaws of a
- 11:34Speaker 2: spider too. And they also had a long like spider,
- 11:38Speaker 2: like a long like scorpion like tail. And instead of
- 11:41Speaker 2: it like a curved, kind of like a, comma-shaped stinger
- 11:45Speaker 2: that normal scorpions have. They have more of a straight barb.
- 11:51Speaker 2: And this barb is more similar to a desert wasp's
- 11:55Speaker 2: stinger because desert wasps, as many of you may or
- 11:59Speaker 2: may not know, they procreate by stinging their victims. And
- 12:05Speaker 2: when they sting their prey, they deposit eggs. And then
- 12:11Speaker 2: their larva will gestate, hatch, and basically eat their prey
- 12:17Speaker 2: from the inside out. That's nasty. Yeah, before maturing and
- 12:21Speaker 2: become another desert wasp. Now, the BFSs do that, do
- 12:25Speaker 2: the exact same thing. Instinctually, every time they sting you,
- 12:29Speaker 2: they sting you three times, depositing an already live larva
- 12:33Speaker 2: inside of you. And the larva explosively like gestates so
- 12:41Speaker 2: when I say explosively like within minutes the larva eats
- 12:45Speaker 2: you from the inside and busts out of you like
- 12:47Speaker 2: full on alien like Ridley Scott alien style and it's
- 12:52Speaker 2: already a fully matured big fucking spider these things proliferated
- 12:59Speaker 2: like it was they were a nightmare they proliferated stupidly
- 13:04Speaker 2: fast and And within a day, they completely overran the island,
- 13:13Speaker 2: forcing God to carpet bomb the whole island.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Who wouldn't? Yeah, who wouldn't, right? In a prologue to
- 13:24Speaker 2: this book, as a matter of fact, we actually see
- 13:28Speaker 2: a G.O.D.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Unit.
- 13:31Speaker 2: They had found a derelict ship coasting off the coast
- 13:35Speaker 2: of the U.S. They... bored the shit because they said
- 13:39Speaker 2: and it's not clear like what exactly they were looking
- 13:42Speaker 2: for but uh it was obvious that uh it it
- 13:47Speaker 2: was kind of it hinted that it was like some
- 13:49Speaker 2: kind of training mission because they had a new recruit
- 13:52Speaker 2: like a like a new recruit on their team and
- 13:54Speaker 2: the new recruit was kind of weirded out because he
- 13:56Speaker 2: heard about this black ops group but he didn't think
- 13:59Speaker 2: he would have qualified because he didn't really have those
- 14:01Speaker 2: kind of like outstanding scores or anything that would have
- 14:05Speaker 2: made him stand out, but he appreciated the opportunity to
- 14:08Speaker 2: work with these spec ops. The thing is that as
- 14:13Speaker 2: soon as they board the ship and they go deeper
- 14:15Speaker 2: into the hold, they come across a bunch of these strange,
- 14:20Speaker 2: spiky-looking gourds. They begin to stir and one jumps at him.
- 14:26Speaker 2: One gets up and jumps at him. Before he can react,
- 14:31Speaker 2: he feels three jabs in his chest And then, like,
- 14:35Speaker 2: almost immediately, the other agents in this mission immediately grab him,
- 14:44Speaker 2: sedate him, and they wrap him in a special type of, like,
- 14:49Speaker 2: they wrap him in this special type of, like, gauze
- 14:51Speaker 2: or nylon that immediately begins to, like, freeze him. They have, like,
- 14:55Speaker 2: a chemical on it that starts to freeze him. And
- 14:58Speaker 2: so essentially, uh, what had happened was, is that God
- 15:02Speaker 2: sent this, uh, this task force, uh, to find that
- 15:06Speaker 2: ship and to collect samples of the live BFSs that
- 15:10Speaker 2: were on the, that had managed to survive and, uh, had, uh,
- 15:16Speaker 2: stowed away on this vessel. And because of this, they
- 15:22Speaker 2: got a live sample, but they used a, they used
- 15:27Speaker 2: just some random dude that they pulled out of the military,
- 15:29Speaker 2: of the U.S. military, sacrificing his life. And they sedated him,
- 15:34Speaker 2: preserved him, and carried him back to their testing facilities.
- 15:38Speaker 2: They destroyed the ship to make sure there was no
- 15:39Speaker 2: other BFSs out there. But, like, there's still live BFSs
- 15:46Speaker 2: under G.O.D.
- 15:47Speaker 3: 's control.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Now, going back to the F.C.P., the F.C.P., Hudson is
- 15:55Speaker 2: now trying to like, he's trying to help. Uh, he's
- 16:00Speaker 2: trying to raise my go. She's a teenager now and
- 16:03Speaker 2: help her navigate, uh, like help her navigate life. She
- 16:08Speaker 2: can't really return to a normal life because, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 2: aside from being, uh, aside from now being separated from nemesis,
- 16:18Speaker 2: my girl has her own abilities. She still shares like, uh,
- 16:22Speaker 2: She still shares a strange connection to Nemesis. And she,
- 16:28Speaker 2: while she, on the outside, she remains, she's, she's often
- 16:31Speaker 2: like her first impression of her is like, she's very
- 16:33Speaker 2: quiet and she doesn't really like, she's, she's quiet and
- 16:36Speaker 2: she doesn't really like interact with many people. On the inside,
- 16:42Speaker 2: she is like constantly battling extreme aggression. She's able to
- 16:47Speaker 2: control it, but she describes it as she's always angry.
- 16:53Speaker 2: She can feel this aggression inside of her and just
- 16:57Speaker 2: this rage. And she has to really hold herself back
- 16:59Speaker 2: from lashing out. And also, on top of that, Maiko
- 17:07Speaker 2: has ridiculous amount of strength. So much so that later
- 17:12Speaker 2: on in the book, her home gets raided. by god
- 17:18Speaker 2: and when they attack she actually like kills these guys
- 17:23Speaker 2: like she was at she went out for a walk
- 17:25Speaker 2: and when they attacked her when they attacked her home
- 17:28Speaker 2: like she comes back and she sneaks up on them
- 17:30Speaker 2: and she starts like brutally like throwing them around like
- 17:34Speaker 2: she she tosses one guy in the air and like
- 17:36Speaker 2: no one else noticed that he would had been tossed
- 17:39Speaker 2: until he came so he came back down and landed
- 17:41Speaker 2: on the roof and yeah there was like whole fight
- 17:46Speaker 2: And now they know that, like, now they're more aware
- 17:53Speaker 2: of G.O.D. Mark, like, Mark Hudson himself was, excuse me,
- 17:59Speaker 2: Mark Hawkins.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Not Hudson.
- 18:00Speaker 2: There's too many people in this series with H in
- 18:04Speaker 2: their name. Hudson, Hawkins.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 2: All right. Hawkins remembers G.O.D. from his time on Island 731.
- 18:14Speaker 2: knows that they're that they're up to something so the
- 18:17Speaker 2: team ends up investigating uh the matter further and they
- 18:21Speaker 2: learn that they figure out that uh that god operates
- 18:26Speaker 2: within a special kind of uh like within a special
- 18:29Speaker 2: type of black budget so like uh this is i'm
- 18:34Speaker 2: not sure if this is like really based off of
- 18:36Speaker 2: real uh like something that really happened but a lot
- 18:39Speaker 2: of the like books, a lot of the like references
- 18:42Speaker 2: that Jeremy Robinson writes in his books are often based
- 18:44Speaker 2: off of real life scenarios, things that actually did happen
- 18:49Speaker 2: in life, right? Like there was, there really was a
- 18:51Speaker 2: unit 731, a Japanese unit 731. Like in other cases,
- 18:58Speaker 2: like in the wake of like, in the wake of
- 19:03Speaker 2: the nine 11 terrorist attacks, there was a lot of
- 19:06Speaker 2: reform in the, uh, like in national security and the
- 19:10Speaker 2: DHS had like basically gotten a completely new type of budget.
- 19:14Speaker 2: And there was something supposedly called a black budget where
- 19:18Speaker 2: basically it's a huge fund for like different types of
- 19:21Speaker 2: like DHS, uh, like different types of DHS projects and
- 19:26Speaker 2: security measures.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And also other forms of like operations and, Essentially, this
- 19:32Speaker 2: is like one big blank check where if you had,
- 19:37Speaker 2: if you like, if there was like a specific need
- 19:39Speaker 2: that for like national defense or something like that, just
- 19:43Speaker 2: put it on the check and like, no questions will
- 19:45Speaker 2: be asked. Right. At least that's like the vibe I
- 19:47Speaker 2: got from, well, I got when they were describing that. this, uh,
- 19:50Speaker 2: when Robinson wrote about it in this, in these books.
- 19:53Speaker 2: So GOD is like one of these types of operations.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Like they're off the books, but they're still, their funding
- 19:59Speaker 2: primarily comes from that black budget, the Pentagon's black budget.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Not sure this is a real thing. Don't come for me.
- 20:05Speaker 2: All right. This is just this, I just want to
- 20:08Speaker 2: just point this out. This is like, fiction all right
- 20:12Speaker 2: i don't need the feds knocking down my door why
- 20:14Speaker 2: are you like giving out why are you giving out
- 20:16Speaker 2: national secrets like hey don't don't come for me bitch
- 20:18Speaker 2: go for jeremy robinson he wrote about this shit all
- 20:21Speaker 2: right like i i'm pretty sure i'm explaining it wrong
- 20:25Speaker 2: and badly but this is like what i remember this
- 20:28Speaker 2: is what i know what i remember of the book
- 20:30Speaker 2: um but after investigating the uh god further they learned
- 20:36Speaker 2: that there is a facility that uh that could be
- 20:40Speaker 2: traced back to god so uh this facility was on
- 20:43Speaker 2: the west coast so they so what they do is
- 20:45Speaker 2: they follow the uh so they follow the breadcrumbs and
- 20:49Speaker 2: they find the facility and they find some very interesting
- 20:52Speaker 2: things there uh primarily they find that uh they find
- 20:58Speaker 2: the corpse of the of nemesis prime is being held
- 21:02Speaker 2: there in this facility uh it's like all desiccated old
- 21:05Speaker 2: and shit and then and then and then and then
- 21:08Speaker 2: there's also Nemesis herself.
- 21:13Speaker 1: No.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so G.O.D. had somehow managed to find where Nemesis had,
- 21:19Speaker 2: they found where Nemesis had crawled into the ocean and
- 21:22Speaker 2: they managed to sedate her and secure her for transport
- 21:27Speaker 2: back to one of their secured facilities. And so basically
- 21:32Speaker 2: she was literally right next, they literally had her right
- 21:35Speaker 2: next to Nemesis Prime. And they go deeper into the
- 21:40Speaker 2: facility and they find, they find all kinds of test subjects, like,
- 21:45Speaker 2: like horrific types of test subjects. They find more evidence
- 21:48Speaker 2: of chimera test subjects. They find a gorilla with its
- 21:51Speaker 2: like head cut open to reveal its brain. And it
- 21:54Speaker 2: hints that the gorilla has like been given like near
- 21:57Speaker 2: human levels of intelligence. And, oh, they also find the
- 22:01Speaker 2: containment facility with the BFSs.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Oh my, oh dear.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Yep.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yep. And let me see while they're exploring the facility,
- 22:18Speaker 2: they actually learned a little bit more. They finally learn
- 22:21Speaker 2: a little bit more about nemesis is origins. Like of course,
- 22:27Speaker 2: nemesis is like nemesis prime, especially is a, uh, is
- 22:35Speaker 2: an alien. Hmm. but we don't know exactly what like
- 22:39Speaker 2: was nemesis. Like, did she come here on her own? Like,
- 22:42Speaker 2: was she intelligent or was she like a weapon? But we, well,
- 22:46Speaker 2: now we know they found, they find evidence that the
- 22:49Speaker 2: original nemesis prime was a weapon sent to earth by
- 22:53Speaker 2: an alien race.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 2: We learn more and more about nemesis is origins. And
- 23:00Speaker 2: this book is actually like going to be the first
- 23:02Speaker 2: book that they start referencing. Another one of Jeremy Robinson's
- 23:05Speaker 2: books called raising the past is Raising the Past is
- 23:09Speaker 2: about two alien races that have been warring with each
- 23:14Speaker 2: other for millions of years, right? Untold millennia. So long,
- 23:19Speaker 2: in fact, that both races, these two distinct alien races,
- 23:24Speaker 2: actually were at one point the same species. But at
- 23:29Speaker 2: one point, there was two forms. separate philosophical groups. One
- 23:34Speaker 2: believed that because of their technological superiority, they should be
- 23:39Speaker 2: the ones in control and that there is no such
- 23:42Speaker 2: thing as free will, but only their will, right? And
- 23:46Speaker 2: then there was another group that believed in the concept
- 23:49Speaker 2: of free will, that every race, regardless of their technological
- 23:55Speaker 2: advancement or evolutionary advancement, every race has a right to
- 24:01Speaker 2: free will. Right? Right to choose. And that they, as
- 24:04Speaker 2: an advanced civilization, did not have the right to impose
- 24:08Speaker 2: their beliefs on others. So this caused a schism between
- 24:12Speaker 2: their two factions. They began war. It turned into a
- 24:18Speaker 2: one long civil war that, because these two races were
- 24:23Speaker 2: interstellarly linked, like they were an interstellar race, because of
- 24:27Speaker 2: how widespread they were in the universe, wars like that
- 24:32Speaker 2: never ends. And it's almost, and it basically means it's
- 24:34Speaker 2: impossible for their, almost impossible for the race to become
- 24:37Speaker 2: totally extinct because even if one part of them gets
- 24:41Speaker 2: wiped out on one planet, there's still dozens of other
- 24:44Speaker 2: worlds where they're still found on.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Right.
- 24:47Speaker 2: So because of their, uh, because of the split in
- 24:50Speaker 2: their factions, the war went on for so long that
- 24:53Speaker 2: their races began to evolve differently.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Right. Um, I'm not going to.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Give too much spoilers, but I will tell you what
- 25:01Speaker 2: the races are called. So one race, the ones that
- 25:05Speaker 2: actually created Nemesis and used other creatures like Nemesis as
- 25:10Speaker 2: a form of kaiju warfare, they're called the Eros. And
- 25:14Speaker 2: the Eros are... The thing about the Eros is that
- 25:20Speaker 2: they are basically these 50-foot-tall, Cthulhu-like-looking motherfuckers.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Oh.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're, you know, 50 feet tall, humanoid, but
- 25:34Speaker 2: in their face, like, they have not, like, like, octopus tentacles,
- 25:39Speaker 2: but more of something similar to, like, starfish arms. So, like,
- 25:44Speaker 2: they have, like, four or five, like, flat, like, paddle-looking, like,
- 25:50Speaker 2: tentacles or, like, starfish arms, like, black eyes, right? They're
- 25:56Speaker 2: fiercely intelligent. but they also believe that they should rule everything, right?
- 26:01Speaker 2: That all races are lesser than them and that they
- 26:04Speaker 2: should control everything. And then there's the other race that
- 26:07Speaker 2: they've been at war with for millions of years, which,
- 26:10Speaker 2: as I said, they were both one and the same
- 26:12Speaker 2: at one point. This other race is called the Ferox.
- 26:16Speaker 2: The Ferox believe that we all have a right to choose, right?
- 26:21Speaker 2: And the way their species have evolved is when they're
- 26:25Speaker 2: true forms, they look like these... Like, I don't want
- 26:28Speaker 2: to say, like, they're quadrupedal. They almost look like these, like,
- 26:31Speaker 2: cross between a hyena and, like, a saber-toothed tiger, but alien-looking.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I mean, I guess, like, the closest comparison to what
- 26:41Speaker 2: they look like is that monster, that demon monster that
- 26:47Speaker 2: Hellboy fought in the original Guillermo del Toro Hellboy movie.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Samael.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: That's like the closest I would say. You can look
- 26:58Speaker 2: the Ferox up because there's artwork by Matt Frank online
- 27:02Speaker 2: that you can find. He did the artwork for them.
- 27:05Speaker 2: The thing about the Ferox is that they're more closer
- 27:09Speaker 2: in size to humans, but they are maybe a little
- 27:12Speaker 2: bit bigger, but they're also shapeshifters. So in their true form,
- 27:17Speaker 2: that's what they look like, but they can actually shapeshift
- 27:20Speaker 2: to look like anybody. So I guess they evolved to
- 27:25Speaker 2: become shapeshifters to better hide from the Eros. But eventually
- 27:31Speaker 2: their war comes to Earth and they're trying to keep
- 27:35Speaker 2: the aliens, the Eros, from noticing Earth. Unfortunately, the Eros
- 27:40Speaker 2: have taken notice of Earth. They've known about Earth for
- 27:43Speaker 2: a long, long time because they sent Nemesis here thousands
- 27:46Speaker 2: of years ago.
- 27:48Speaker 3: But.
- 27:50Speaker 2: But they all but forgot about Earth because there are
- 27:55Speaker 2: other factors that I will actually explain later. But I'm
- 28:02Speaker 2: not going to explain those until we get to the
- 28:04Speaker 2: next book, which is Project Hyperion. That's when we get
- 28:07Speaker 2: more into the interplanetary conflict. But it's in this book,
- 28:11Speaker 2: near the end of the book, that's when we learn
- 28:13Speaker 2: more about the Ferox and the Eros. And we also
- 28:15Speaker 2: learned that the Ferox have a hand behind G.O.D. and
- 28:19Speaker 2: these experiments. So we learn more about that as the
- 28:26Speaker 2: book progresses, but the FCP team infiltrate the G.O.D. facility
- 28:31Speaker 2: where they find both Nemesis' and they find the other
- 28:36Speaker 2: Chimera experiments. They also find the BFS' being contained there.
- 28:42Speaker 2: But when they are confronted by the local security, the
- 28:46Speaker 2: containment fails. And a lot of the experiments end up
- 28:51Speaker 2: getting out, including the BFSs. And the BFSs end up
- 28:56Speaker 2: scuttling away. And most of, like, there was only three
- 29:00Speaker 2: of them. And two of them gets killed, but one
- 29:04Speaker 2: of them scurries away. And makes its way into the
- 29:08Speaker 2: warehouse where both Nemesis' bodies are being kept. And because
- 29:13Speaker 2: one is a corpse, it ignores that one. But the
- 29:15Speaker 2: other one who's still alive, it ends up, it ends
- 29:20Speaker 2: up jumping on it and it ends up jumping on
- 29:22Speaker 2: nemesis and stings her three times.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 29:26Speaker 2: And because of that three new.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Because of that, like the team ends up catching up
- 29:35Speaker 2: to it. They find the one BFS and they kill it,
- 29:38Speaker 2: but not before three, more ends up bursting out of
- 29:41Speaker 2: Nemesis's body. And these ones have been mutated. So they're
- 29:46Speaker 2: no longer BFSs. Now, BFSs are about the size of
- 29:51Speaker 2: a small dog.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Right? Uh-huh.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Well, these new ones are about the size.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Of a bus.
- 30:00Speaker 2: And they're growing.
- 30:01Speaker 1: A bus.
- 30:03Speaker 2: A bus. So the new BFSs are called Suchi, which
- 30:09Speaker 2: is based off of a Japanese yokai.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Of course.
- 30:14Speaker 2: And the Suchi end up going on a rampage. The
- 30:19Speaker 2: thing is, though, when the Suchi ends up chewing their
- 30:21Speaker 2: way out of Nemesis's body, this actually wakes up Nemesis.
- 30:25Speaker 2: And here's the thing about Nemesis, is that because she's purged,
- 30:30Speaker 2: the human DNA from her body. She's no longer being
- 30:33Speaker 2: influenced by my goes memories or emotions. So nemesis is
- 30:38Speaker 2: now more similar to the original nemesis, like sadistic, more weapon,
- 30:43Speaker 2: like more right. Like built for destroy built for destruction.
- 30:47Speaker 2: So nemesis ends up tearing her way out of the,
- 30:49Speaker 2: it ends up tearing her way out of the warehouse
- 30:54Speaker 2: goes on a rampage. The Tsuchi actually attack her again
- 30:58Speaker 2: and sting her a couple more times. But when the
- 31:01Speaker 2: new Tsuchi comes crawling their way out of her body,
- 31:04Speaker 2: she ends up killing them because this pisses her off
- 31:08Speaker 2: a lot. Nemesis ends up killing all but one of
- 31:12Speaker 2: the Tsuchi, and that Tsuchi just ends up running away.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Ends up running away, but it also goes on a
- 31:19Speaker 2: bit of a feeding frenzy because since it's taken in
- 31:22Speaker 2: some of Nemesis's DNA... Nemesis' DNA is forcing it to grow, grow, grow, grow, grow, right? Actually,
- 31:33Speaker 2: how many of the Tsuchi were there? Let me see here.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Later they mutate further to standing upright and growing claws.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I think there was more than one of them ends
- 32:01Speaker 2: up growing up to like nemesis size. Okay, I think
- 32:07Speaker 2: it was just one.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Did you cut them out?
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Sushi and then there's the Mega Sushi.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so there were several Sushis that survive, but Nemesis
- 32:24Speaker 2: ends up killing most of them, all except for one.
- 32:27Speaker 2: One manages to survive. The thing is that something begins
- 32:31Speaker 2: drawing the Tsuchi further inland to Nevada, to a specific
- 32:37Speaker 2: place in Nevada.
- 32:42Speaker 3: No.
- 32:43Speaker 1: No. I know you're lying. Don't. They go to Area 51.
- 32:52Speaker 2: They go to Area 51.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Of course they fucking do.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Area 51 is... The Suchi, for some reason, are drawn
- 33:00Speaker 2: to Area 51. The one Suchi that ends up growing
- 33:08Speaker 2: to full Nemesis heights becomes a Mega Suchi. Because it's
- 33:16Speaker 2: still alive, it ends up drawing Nemesis to Area 51.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And they fight it out. And Nemesis does kill it.
- 33:23Speaker 2: It does sting her a couple more times, but every
- 33:25Speaker 2: time a new Tsuchi comes bursting out of her, she
- 33:29Speaker 2: just kills it. Hudson and his team follow the path,
- 33:35Speaker 2: and they realize, okay, Area 51. They go there, too,
- 33:39Speaker 2: and that's where the head of G.O.D. meets them. And
- 33:43Speaker 2: the head of G.O.D. shows them a few things. He
- 33:47Speaker 2: shows them While they're inside Area 51, he shows them
- 33:53Speaker 2: that they have preserved corpses. Oh, hey, yeah, Area 51,
- 33:59Speaker 2: they do have alien bodies there. One is the severed
- 34:03Speaker 2: head of an Eros, which is a massive head with
- 34:08Speaker 2: the starfish arms coming out of its face. The other
- 34:13Speaker 2: one is the body of a Ferox.
- 34:18Speaker 1: And hold on.
- 34:18Speaker 2: There's supposed to be artwork in here about it.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Let me see here. Let's see, Suchi.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Need a little bit more details, because they learn more
- 35:13Speaker 4: about the.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Let's see here. Yep, they are. Yep.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Sorry, for a small moment I thought I was giving
- 36:44Speaker 2: away details for the next book, but no, this all
- 36:48Speaker 2: happens here.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Gotcha.
- 36:57Speaker 2: See, they go into the tank. Very Yep, so it's
- 37:02Speaker 2: all in this one. So the leader of G.O.D. ends
- 37:12Speaker 2: up showing his guy named Cole. He ends up showing
- 37:16Speaker 2: them tanks filled with corpses of dead aliens. Of course,
- 37:22Speaker 2: one is with the head of an Eros. The other
- 37:24Speaker 2: one is the body of a Ferox. And then surprisingly,
- 37:27Speaker 2: there is a third one. with what looks like a human,
- 37:33Speaker 2: a very pale, blonde human man. But it's obviously not
- 37:38Speaker 2: a human, because the man himself is very tall, almost
- 37:43Speaker 2: 10 feet tall. We're talking biblical giant tall. And this
- 37:53Speaker 2: is all very confusing and this is to them. Cause like,
- 37:55Speaker 2: why are these aliens here? Like what, like these are the,
- 37:58Speaker 2: the aliens that they've been hiding.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Uh, Cole points them more about the, uh, this is
- 38:05Speaker 2: where Cole like reveals more about the conflict between the
- 38:08Speaker 2: Ferox and the Eros and some of the, and also
- 38:12Speaker 2: reveals some of the events that had happened, uh, uh,
- 38:15Speaker 2: in raising the past. Cause raising the past actually did
- 38:18Speaker 2: end up happening in this universe, uh, But it was
- 38:21Speaker 2: something completely separate. It was something completely separate. And they
- 38:27Speaker 2: don't really reference the main characters from that series because
- 38:30Speaker 2: I don't know exactly what happened to them. But the
- 38:33Speaker 2: corpses of these aliens, they were actually all found in the... Actually,
- 38:39Speaker 2: I don't know where they got the humanoid one from.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 38:45Speaker 2: But the body of the Ferox and the body of,
- 38:47Speaker 2: and the head of the Eros, those are from raising,
- 38:50Speaker 2: those two came from raising the past. So like they,
- 38:53Speaker 2: they were, there were the two aliens that there were
- 38:55Speaker 2: two of the aliens that ended up dying and raising
- 38:57Speaker 2: the past. Um, now he does explain, Cole does explain
- 39:03Speaker 2: that this, that the humanoid alien is actually an Atlantean
- 39:09Speaker 2: and that 10,000 years ago, um, Atlantis was real. But
- 39:14Speaker 2: the thing is, is that they were not human. They
- 39:16Speaker 2: were an alien race that were similar to humans.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And also they they list he cites them as the
- 39:24Speaker 2: reason for why humans have certain traits, because at one
- 39:29Speaker 2: point after Atlantis fell, they ended up interbreeding with humans.
- 39:32Speaker 2: So that's why you got big, tall Scandinavian people with
- 39:37Speaker 2: blonde hair, blue eyes. That's where Robinson cites, at least
- 39:41Speaker 2: for the story-wise, where the... where the Aryan race comes from.
- 39:52Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 39:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:55Speaker 1: That's trippy. That's weird. Kind of interesting.
- 39:58Speaker 2: There's a bunch of reveals. This is where a bunch
- 40:00Speaker 2: of his other books are beginning to tie in. Of course,
- 40:03Speaker 2: Island 731 tied in a lot in the first three books. But, like,
- 40:08Speaker 2: Raising the Past starts tying in in this one. Also,
- 40:11Speaker 2: Second World starts tying in to this one because there's
- 40:15Speaker 2: a symbol that they see in the book. It's actually
- 40:17Speaker 2: this symbol.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Okay so it's a stick.
- 40:21Speaker 1: With a circle a large circle over and a circle
- 40:24Speaker 1: on top it's like three layers.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Of it's like three consecutive uh concentric circles with a
- 40:29Speaker 2: with a line going down to like through them from
- 40:31Speaker 2: the central circle yeah uh now this symbol is cited
- 40:35Speaker 2: as being like the symbol of atlantis and in fact
- 40:38Speaker 2: this is supposed to be how the exact layout of
- 40:40Speaker 2: atlantis was supposed to look like so uh and and
- 40:45Speaker 2: um Cole explains that Atlantis was actually an outpost for
- 40:50Speaker 2: an alliance between the Ferox and the alien race that
- 40:53Speaker 2: we would know as the Atlanteans. But the Eros found
- 40:57Speaker 2: out about the outpost and sent Nemesis to destroy it.
- 41:02Speaker 2: And Nemesis did destroy it before being killed by Atlantis' defenses.
- 41:07Speaker 2: The thing is, the city was so thoroughly destroyed that
- 41:12Speaker 2: it didn't survive. That will actually tie into Project Hyperion later.
- 41:19Speaker 2: We'll actually see a little bit more about that conflict
- 41:23Speaker 2: in Project Hyperion, but we will go into that later.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Cole explains more about why GOD does this, because they're
- 41:40Speaker 2: trying to prepare humanity for the coming conflict with the
- 41:44Speaker 2: heroes because the heroes in, uh, in the, in raising
- 41:48Speaker 2: the past, uh, part of like the main plot was
- 41:51Speaker 2: trying to stop, um, sympathizers with the heroes from signaling the,
- 41:56Speaker 2: like the heroes that earth is being influenced by the Ferrox.
- 42:02Speaker 2: The heroes found out about that. They're going to come
- 42:04Speaker 2: here and destroy humanity because, uh, humanity, they would have
- 42:08Speaker 2: considered humanity to be tainted and like, not compatible for
- 42:13Speaker 2: Eros takeover. Like the Eros would have just taken us
- 42:15Speaker 2: over and just controlled us. But because we have the
- 42:18Speaker 2: belief of free will and all that shit, right? We
- 42:22Speaker 2: believe in the concept of free will. They, they deem
- 42:25Speaker 2: that as like, okay, well that means we're just beyond
- 42:29Speaker 2: like their intervention.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:32Speaker 2: So they managed to send this, they managed to actually
- 42:35Speaker 2: signal the Eros. So the Eros will eventually return to earth.
- 42:40Speaker 2: So that's why Cole and his people are trying to,
- 42:45Speaker 2: they are trying, they are preparing the world. They are
- 42:48Speaker 2: doing all these horrendous experiments. In fact, it's hinted that
- 42:52Speaker 2: Cole had a hand in the revival of Nemesis. Like
- 43:01Speaker 2: the program that, the experiments and everything that started with
- 43:04Speaker 2: creating the Nemesis, like the Nemesis program, believe that he
- 43:09Speaker 2: had a hand in it. possibly as a way to
- 43:11Speaker 2: like try to utilize nemesis against the eros when they
- 43:14Speaker 2: when they eventually return um and god there this is
- 43:19Speaker 2: like this is where like i fully fell into the
- 43:22Speaker 2: rabbit hole that is project nemesis because uh like when
- 43:26Speaker 2: i realized like oh god there's more to the story
- 43:29Speaker 2: like wait a second what's with what's with the whole
- 43:31Speaker 2: like aryan race thing here like wait there's another book
- 43:33Speaker 2: about that what And then, like, also, like, on 731,
- 43:37Speaker 2: Raising the Past, like, Eros, like, wait, there's a book
- 43:40Speaker 2: just about that? I'm like, okay. Give me. Give me.
- 43:46Speaker 2: I need to read all these. I fell into a
- 43:48Speaker 2: deep rabbit hole, and I read all these books, and
- 43:50Speaker 2: it was because of Project 731. That's when I stopped here,
- 43:55Speaker 2: and I was like, because when I started reading these books, like,
- 43:58Speaker 2: they weren't all published just yet. You know, Project 731
- 44:01Speaker 2: came out, Project Hyperion and Project Legion hadn't been published
- 44:06Speaker 2: just yet. And I was like, there's all these books.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I need to read them.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Give me. Come here.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Give me. Give me. Pull out my credit card.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yes. Give me all of them.
- 44:24Speaker 2: So I ended up reading them. So this is where
- 44:27Speaker 2: I learned that Second World so the book Second World
- 44:31Speaker 2: explains the origins of Atlantis and like also like their
- 44:37Speaker 2: tie-ins with the Nazis and then you know Raising the
- 44:43Speaker 2: Past is about the Eros and the Ferox and I
- 44:45Speaker 2: also went back and read Island 731 it wasn't until
- 44:50Speaker 2: like after I read Project like Project Hyperion that I
- 44:57Speaker 2: learned that there were several other books that are going
- 44:58Speaker 2: to be tying in And so I read those other
- 45:01Speaker 2: books like Mirror World and I read, and then after
- 45:05Speaker 2: Project Legion, I read like Uprising. And then there was
- 45:11Speaker 2: the Jack Siegler saga and the Antarktos Rising series. So
- 45:15Speaker 2: like there's a book called Antarktos Rising and then there's
- 45:18Speaker 2: the Antarktos Saga, which is the spinoff of Antarktos Rising.
- 45:22Speaker 2: So I read all that, got to know these characters
- 45:25Speaker 2: that will eventually tie in at, in Project Legion and,
- 45:29Speaker 2: but I focused mainly on these, like, from Project 731,
- 45:35Speaker 2: I focused mainly on Second World, Island 731, and Raising
- 45:40Speaker 2: the Past. And that's where I learned all about these
- 45:43Speaker 2: different characters that are going to tie in and the
- 45:45Speaker 2: different stories that tie into the Nemesis saga. And then
- 45:48Speaker 2: came back when Hyperion came out, read it, went out,
- 45:52Speaker 2: read all these other books, came back, and Project Legion
- 45:55Speaker 2: was out, and I read that. So, just a lot
- 46:00Speaker 2: there was just a lot of information that went into
- 46:05Speaker 2: this so i was like like i felt like that
- 46:08Speaker 2: dude from always sunny in philadelphia i feel like that
- 46:10Speaker 2: right now when i'm explaining it because like just have
- 46:12Speaker 2: this board of like this vision board right over here
- 46:14Speaker 2: and i'm just like like.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Connected finding all the connections in the all the dots
- 46:20Speaker 1: connecting all the.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Dots connecting all the dots. It feels like, honestly, reading
- 46:25Speaker 2: these books makes me feel like a conspiracy theorist because
- 46:28Speaker 2: some of these were also based off of conspiracy theories.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Second World was based around the idea that the Nazis
- 46:36Speaker 2: didn't really get dismantled but absorbed and they still exist
- 46:40Speaker 2: within our government and within different world entities. And then
- 46:45Speaker 2: also different Nazi superweapons, conspiracies about different Nazi superweapons like
- 46:50Speaker 2: Die Glock. which was supposedly, like, this... Die Glock was
- 46:53Speaker 2: also known as the Bell, which was, like, this bell-shaped weapon,
- 46:57Speaker 2: and the concept behind it was supposed to be, like,
- 46:58Speaker 2: a study of anti-gravity, of, like, anti-gravity propulsion and all that,
- 47:03Speaker 2: but it was also, like, theorized to be, like, a
- 47:05Speaker 2: super weapon of some kind. But we don't know much
- 47:09Speaker 2: about it. It was just, like, one of those, like,
- 47:11Speaker 2: many different, like, outlandish experiments that the Nazis performed, and.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:21Speaker 2: So going back to like circling back to project seven 31,
- 47:26Speaker 2: they get this big reveal. Uh, the SCP team ends up, uh, getting, uh,
- 47:31Speaker 2: ends up escaping from, uh, from area 51. And they
- 47:34Speaker 2: actually commandeer a, uh, experimental aircraft, uh, called the X 35.
- 47:41Speaker 2: The X 35 is a, um, is a hypersonic jet
- 47:45Speaker 2: that has, uh, excuse me, X 35. I'm sorry.
- 47:48Speaker 3: Yeah. X 35.
- 47:49Speaker 2: It, basically it's designed to replace both fighter jets and
- 47:55Speaker 2: helicopters because it has repulsor, uh, repulsor technology. So it
- 47:59Speaker 2: uses a special, uh, form of repulsion to basically, it's like,
- 48:05Speaker 2: it doesn't really explain the science behind it, but it
- 48:08Speaker 2: can hover in place. It can move faster than the
- 48:10Speaker 2: speed of sound. It could even escape. Uh, it even
- 48:12Speaker 2: has enough speed to like reach escape velocity. So it
- 48:16Speaker 2: can go into orbit.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Uh, and also it has experimental stealth technology, but it's
- 48:22Speaker 2: not really like, like that kind of like stealth technology
- 48:26Speaker 2: you would expect for like when turning itself, like it,
- 48:28Speaker 2: like it turns itself invisible, but it's not like, you know,
- 48:31Speaker 2: using like, Oh, like Uber cool, like meta science or
- 48:34Speaker 2: like quantum physics to like bend light around itself. No,
- 48:37Speaker 2: it's just like projecting an image around itself. So like
- 48:41Speaker 2: it takes one side of like has cameras on one side,
- 48:44Speaker 2: And projectors on the other side. So like basically the
- 48:46Speaker 2: projectors project what the cameras see on the other side.
- 48:49Speaker 2: So it's like that kind of technology. It's still super effective.
- 48:52Speaker 2: You can, you won't even realize it's there. Super quiet.
- 48:55Speaker 2: They've managed to commandeer it and they learned that, oh,
- 48:57Speaker 2: this thing is actually stupidly easy to fly because all
- 48:59Speaker 2: you have to do is just, it flies itself. You
- 49:02Speaker 2: just got to punch in like coordinates and like directions
- 49:04Speaker 2: and how you want it to fly and it'll just
- 49:06Speaker 2: fly itself. Yeah. so they commandeer that for themselves and
- 49:12Speaker 2: the X-35 ends up being super useful in later books
- 49:18Speaker 2: because that becomes their primary mode of transport. The SCP
- 49:24Speaker 2: team actually keeps it hovering over their base of operations,
- 49:33Speaker 2: which is just a colonial house in Boston. So it's like, okay, cool.
- 49:39Speaker 2: You can literally park this thing anywhere. Yeah. Because it
- 49:42Speaker 2: just hovers. So they commandeer it and they manage to
- 49:45Speaker 2: get out of the way by the time the Megasuchi
- 49:49Speaker 2: arrives and begins digging deep into the... I don't know
- 49:54Speaker 2: exactly why it was attacking... Let's see. Let me see here.
- 50:23Speaker 3: The Mega Tsuchi. Let me see here. Oh, I'm done.
- 51:16Speaker 3: All right. Circle, okay.
- 51:20Speaker 2: I'm dumb. It wasn't actually going to Area 51. They tracked...
- 51:26Speaker 2: They tracked.
- 51:29Speaker 2: G.O.D. to Area 51, but it was actually... When it escaped,
- 51:34Speaker 2: it was making... When this Megasuchi escaped Nemesis, it began
- 51:38Speaker 2: making its way east, and so it crossed the... It
- 51:42Speaker 2: crossed through Nevada and was making... And it eventually ends
- 51:46Speaker 2: up hitting... going to Salt Lake City.
- 51:52Speaker 3: So it didn't... I'm sorry.
- 51:53Speaker 2: I got, like, confused there for a second.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Devin, cut those parts out.
- 52:00Speaker 2: I'm done. So anyway, so the Megasuchi, like, while they were...
- 52:04Speaker 2: So while the team was, like, dealing with GOD and
- 52:08Speaker 2: Area 51, the Megasuchi made its way east and eventually
- 52:12Speaker 2: ends up attacking Salt Lake City. Nemesis... being Nemesis, chases
- 52:17Speaker 2: the damn thing down, and the two of them begin fighting.
- 52:21Speaker 2: No surprise, Nemesis wins, but not before... The Megasuchi ends
- 52:25Speaker 2: up biting a good chunk out of Nemesis, taking a
- 52:27Speaker 2: good chunk out of Nemesis, but they end up.
- 52:32Speaker 2: It does end up being defeated by Nemesis. There's a
- 52:36Speaker 2: point where Nemesis is almost defeated by the Megasuchi, because
- 52:40Speaker 2: the Megasuchi had its own self-defense that it developed from
- 52:45Speaker 2: mutating through Nemesis' DNA. And one of those is like,
- 52:48Speaker 2: it had like a stunning bite. So if it bit you,
- 52:51Speaker 2: it could release like an electrical shock. And because it kept,
- 52:55Speaker 2: every time it would sting Nemesis, it would like release
- 52:59Speaker 2: a larva. But like when Nemesis like kills the larva,
- 53:03Speaker 2: Nemesis got smart and actually bit off the tip of
- 53:06Speaker 2: its tail. So she could, so now the Megasuchi couldn't
- 53:09Speaker 2: sting her, but it was a tough fight. And at
- 53:12Speaker 2: one point Nemesis did get downed. um now here's the
- 53:16Speaker 2: thing as part of like escaping area 51 and learn
- 53:20Speaker 2: and learn and learning all about like god's activities and
- 53:23Speaker 2: the origins of nemesis um they re they actually encounter
- 53:27Speaker 2: another man uh a former adversary a guy named katsu
- 53:32Speaker 2: endo endo was uh had a big had a big
- 53:36Speaker 2: role in both uh project nemesis and project maigo uh
- 53:40Speaker 2: because he was like the he was like one of
- 53:42Speaker 2: the he was the main henchman of General Gordon, guy
- 53:47Speaker 2: who got the heart transplant from the Nemesis clone and
- 53:51Speaker 2: ends up turning into a monster himself. So the thing is,
- 53:55Speaker 2: we learned a little bit more about Endo's motivations because
- 53:58Speaker 2: it turns out he's just an even bigger kaiju groupie
- 54:00Speaker 2: than I am. The fact that he was there when
- 54:05Speaker 2: they discovered Nemesis Prime's corpse, he wanted to be all
- 54:09Speaker 2: up in that bitch. He wanted to be a part
- 54:11Speaker 2: of every part of it. And so after Gordon was
- 54:17Speaker 2: defeated in the last book, Endo ends up disappearing. And
- 54:20Speaker 2: he also learned about G.O.D. in his own way and
- 54:23Speaker 2: manages to infiltrate G.O.D. And Endo was the reason why
- 54:27Speaker 2: they were able to defeat the G.O.D. strike team. And
- 54:33Speaker 2: Endo helps them commandeer the X-35 and teaches them how
- 54:36Speaker 2: to fly it. But the thing is that they learned
- 54:41Speaker 2: something interesting about Nemesis is that they actually got up
- 54:45Speaker 2: close and personal to Nemesis at one point. And Lily,
- 54:49Speaker 2: who had gotten really close to Nemesis, had noticed that
- 54:53Speaker 2: Nemesis had a strange protrusion on the back of her neck.
- 55:02Speaker 2: When she got close to it, it had opened and
- 55:04Speaker 2: these strange feelers or tentacles came out reaching towards Lily.
- 55:09Speaker 2: but she didn't get Mirim. And when Lily describes it,
- 55:13Speaker 2: Maigo realizes that that must be how, that must be
- 55:16Speaker 2: like some, like a way for Nemesis to bond to
- 55:20Speaker 2: like a pilot or like some kind of like controller.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Cause that's how, that's, she believed that that's how like,
- 55:27Speaker 2: that's where she came from. That's how Maigo got like
- 55:30Speaker 2: purged from Nemesis's body. So she came up with an
- 55:34Speaker 2: idea to maybe try to retake control of Nemesis and
- 55:38Speaker 2: by merging with her again. But Endo ends up beating
- 55:42Speaker 2: her to it and ends up managing to get close
- 55:45Speaker 2: to Nemesis and jumps into Nemesis' hole.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Not Nemesis' hole. Yeah.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Not her hole. So when Endo jumps into that little pit,
- 56:02Speaker 2: that little protrusion, it immediately grabs him and sucks him
- 56:06Speaker 2: inside to Nemesis' body. and the thing about nemesis is
- 56:10Speaker 2: that when nemesis is like when nemesis first appeared her
- 56:14Speaker 2: eyes had more like human still had like a human-like
- 56:17Speaker 2: appearance like they look like big brown human-like eyes but
- 56:22Speaker 2: when after when uh nemesis purged mygo from her body
- 56:25Speaker 2: that her eyes ended up turning into these bright yellow
- 56:29Speaker 2: orbs like flat no like no iris or cornea or
- 56:32Speaker 2: anything like that right but then Endo jumps in and, uh, uh,
- 56:38Speaker 2: jumps into and merges with Nemesis. And when Nemesis gets
- 56:41Speaker 2: back up, her eyes are no longer flat and yellow.
- 56:44Speaker 2: They're human-like again.
- 56:49Speaker 3: They're brown.
- 56:50Speaker 2: They're these brown human-like eyes. Uh, so with Endo's health,
- 56:53Speaker 2: like Endo, uh, as it turns out, is not able
- 56:56Speaker 2: to like fully control Nemesis. Like Nemesis is still like full,
- 57:00Speaker 2: like in the driver's seat. Endo's now just basically like,
- 57:06Speaker 2: just directing her. So instead of being, like, this wild, like,
- 57:09Speaker 2: sadistic creature that just attacks everything, Nemesis has more direction,
- 57:14Speaker 2: is now more controlled and directed. And with Endo's help,
- 57:18Speaker 2: they're able to kill the Suchi, the Mega Suchi. And afterwards,
- 57:24Speaker 2: Endo just directs Nemesis back out towards the ocean and
- 57:28Speaker 2: disappears in the wave, into the waves. So after the
- 57:32Speaker 2: Mega Suchi is defeated, they... they learn pretty much that
- 57:38Speaker 2: their whole world is even more at risk there's going
- 57:42Speaker 2: to be there's going to be more monsters in the
- 57:48Speaker 2: future they're definitely going to have to deal with the
- 57:53Speaker 2: alien threat of the Eros but they don't know when
- 57:56Speaker 2: they're going to be there though the cryptic hints and
- 58:00Speaker 2: suggestions that they got from Cole is that it's coming
- 58:04Speaker 2: soon Coming soon to a theater near you.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:12Speaker 2: There is a bit of an epilogue. In this epilogue,
- 58:21Speaker 2: there's actually a satellite, a black cube-shaped satellite that is
- 58:28Speaker 2: orbiting Earth, but no one has noticed that it's there,
- 58:33Speaker 2: and it's been watching and transmitting this whole time. And, uh,
- 58:40Speaker 2: just as when, uh, nemesis, uh, like as more of
- 58:44Speaker 2: like nemesis and the other Kaiju have begun, uh, emerging
- 58:48Speaker 2: and began like rampaging on the earth, the satellite itself
- 58:53Speaker 2: begins transmitting a new, a new signal. So the signal
- 59:02Speaker 2: begins transmitting back to the Eros High Command. And now
- 59:07Speaker 2: we're going to be seeing more of the Eros. But
- 59:18Speaker 2: just as this cube satellite begins sending a signal, another
- 59:25Speaker 2: satellite ends up coming up to it. uh, ends up
- 59:31Speaker 2: flying right up to it. This one is a, uh, um,
- 59:38Speaker 2: this one is more of a, like, orb-shaped satellite.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 59:42Speaker 2: And the orb-shaped, the orb-shaped satellite, uh, ends up destroying the, uh,
- 59:48Speaker 2: the Eros's cube-shaped satellite. And, uh, thing is, the satellite,
- 59:53Speaker 2: the Eros satellite and the Ero probe, I should say, destroy, uh,
- 59:58Speaker 2: managed to send its signal back to the Eros, uh,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: But not for this other satellite, which is later confirmed
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: being controlled by the Ferox. It manages to destroy it,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: so now the Eros are not getting live updates.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: So, here's the thing.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: While the Eros are now just preparing to come to Earth,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: the Ferox are already here.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Of course they are. Why would Why wouldn't they be here?
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Why wouldn't they?
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Of course they are.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: So now we're moving from giant kaiju fights to alien invasions.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: I'm not mad. I wasn't mad about that. I was like, oh,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: this is getting lit. Oh, okay. Okay.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I mean, it sounds about right. Sounds about right.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Yep. From here, this is where, at this point, I've
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: already fallen into the rabbit hole. I followed and read
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: all of the other books, Raising the Past, Second World,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Island 731, as I waited for Project Hyperion to come out.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Project Hyperion is going to be more alien-heavy. We're going
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: to see a bunch of new kaiju appear. It's not
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: going to be a Nemesis book without kaiju. The Eros
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: are going to send more Kaiju to Earth, and the
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Ferox are going to have their own plans. They're going
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: to be working to... They are going to try to
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: help humanity, but the thing is that the Ferox are
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: very self-motivated, so while they're willing to work with humanity,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: they're not going to be afraid to throw it under
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: the bus if they need to.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they would.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: The moral of the story is, kids, don't trust aliens.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Don't trust aliens. Because they will fuck you over before
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: they save their own ass.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: But that is it for Project 731. The next book
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: in the series, of course, is Project Hyperion. And followed
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: by Project Legion. I don't know if I want to
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: read that. Huh?
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Huh?
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: I'm not sure if I'm going to read that because
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I have a lot of other books I'm planning on reading.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Don't worry, I'll read it for the both of us
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: because T.J. Fisher, T. King Fisher, love T. King Fisher.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Love that one.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I'm planning on after I'm done reading what's currently on
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: my TBR, on my bookshelf right up here, after I'm
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: done with that, I'm planning on either continuing with Red
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Rising if I like Red Rising or just finally going
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: back around and finishing up the Brandon Sanderson novels that Well,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: not the Brandon Sanderson novels, the Stormlight Archives.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Because I've read the first book, and the first book
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: was really good, but it's epic fantasy, and you have
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: to be ready. You have to be locked in. You
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: have to be locked in. For me, at least, you
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: have to be locked in to get through an epic fantasy.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: I locked in to The Wheel of Time, and it
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: took nine months of my life to finish that whole series.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: It sure did.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I was reading that shit every day. I was working,
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: and when I was not busy at work, I was
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: just reading, reading, reading. I've always said that that series
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: definitely dragged in certain places. In some books, I believe
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: we could have gone without this. But still, it was
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: epic fantasy. I loved it. 14 books. Shame that Robert
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Jordan died before he could finish it, but it's good
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: that Brandon Sanderson was able to step in to finish
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: the series because Jesus Christ, the ending was like, it
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: had me on the edge of my seat. The whole
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: time I was reading that book, the ending was just like,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I was stressed. And then Sanderson, like the thing about
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: the Stormlight Archives is it's ongoing. Because he just released
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: a book, a new book, I think last year or
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: the year before. And it took me like, not almost
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: a month, but a little over two weeks to read
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: the first book. And these books are thick.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: And there was a lot of world building, like a
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: lot of world building. And I just tried to like
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: start reading the second, the second Stormlight book. But as
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I started reading the, as I started reading it, I'm like, oh,
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: this is just as much, there's like the world building
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: doesn't start, doesn't stop. There's so much detail. Like he
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: goes in details about the landscape, about the characters, about the,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: you know, the cultures. Right. I'm just like, there's so much.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Now for the latter half of the year from July
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: July onward towards the end of July until like the
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: fall I plan on doing more episodes with me because
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I know I know y'all I've been slacking it's me
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: been slacking I've been working been working on my video
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: editing gig drop job not gig job. And I've been slacking.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I know. So I have a list of books that
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I'm going to get through starting late July is when
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I'm going to start really pumping out episodes on my end.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: As far as books that I'm going to talk about,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: because I have a list of books that I want
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: to get through now before the end of the year,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I would like to get through my closest thing. I'll
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: probably get to an epic fantasy this year, which probably
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: be the night, the Gideon, the ninth, that series is,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: which I hear it's really difficult. It's really, it's a
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: tough read to get through, but I'm like, I'm going
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: to do it. I got all three books. I'm going
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: to do it.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I started reading it a bit on Libby and I wasn't,
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: it wasn't that hard. I didn't get far, but like,
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: cause I was just too busy working, but like, um,
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I was also in the middle of reading another book too.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: I was just like going back and forth.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Well, you also read Brandon Sanderson. So for fun, I
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: don't really dive into the epic fantasy that often really.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: So this is the, this would probably be the first
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: one that I'm going to tackle because I have all
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: three books. They're sitting there looking pretty. I want to
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: read them.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: There's a lot of Sanderson novels that I keep, that
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: I keep seeing recommendations for mainly like the Mistborn saga.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: And I'm like.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I don't really want to get too deep into Sanderson's
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: novels because he has a lot of novels that, and
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: they're canon to each other. Like it's all part of the,
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: like the, the Cosmere. And I'm like, I don't want to,
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: I've gone, I've fallen down rabbit holes like that of a,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: of a whole Cosmere before. And I, it's, it's fun,
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: but at the same time, it's like, it takes up
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: a huge chunk of your life. And there's already like,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: like Sanderson's Cosmere is huge.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: All right. There's a lot that goes into it. There's
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: over 20 books that go into it. And, Like, you
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: can read the books individually, but it's, like, you'll see
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: references to other, like, worlds, other parts of the Cosmere.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: And already in, like, Stormlight Archives, I think I got
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: a hint of it. But, like, of what the Cosmere
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: is like. But I'm like, I don't want to, I
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: don't want to, like, dive into the Cosmere. I just
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: want to read these books. I just only want to
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: read this one series. Because Stormlight Archives, hear all about
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: it all the time. I've seen these books everywhere. And
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I need to read them. I want to read them.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: And I read the first book.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: It was good. I liked it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: I want to go back and read the second book,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: but I'm unlike with the, unlike with the wheel of time,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to go and like read them back
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: to back. Cause right now there's only like four, like
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: five or six books in the series, but they're bigger.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Each book is individually bigger than any of the wheel
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: of time novels.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Currently more real-time novels in the Stormlight Archives,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: but those novels were not as lengthy. Each one was
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: a good six, seven, ranged anywhere between 700 to 1,000 pages.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: And the Sanderson books are about the same, but a
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: little bit bigger. The two paperbacks that I currently have,
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: they're thick. Those are the thickest books I have. Yeah.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: They're currently the thickest books I have.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to work my way up to that, okay?
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: But as far as to give more ideas on what
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: type of books I'm going to be reading, a lot
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: of C... What's it?
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: C.G. Drew's?
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Yeah cg drews so like the dawn of the forest
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: and hazel thorn those are ya gay horror get a
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: lot of those and i got i got fucking the
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: heartless with the heartless hunter and the rebel witch it
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: was like a love story of A Witch and a
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Witch Hunter. Yeah, I have several. I have a list,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a stack of books next to my PC that I
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: want to tackle. Expect more of that in the latter
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: half of the year.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: Let me see.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I have Red Rising right now, and then I have
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: two short novels. They're both horror novels. One is called Below,
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: and the other one is called The Monster of.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Ellen Haven.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: Those are the two books I bought.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: From Ghoulish Books.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: So The Monster of Ellen's Haven. And then Below, which
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: is a Mothman story. And then after that, I have
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Bored Gay Werewolf to read. Maybe I'll get that done.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Maybe, who knows?
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: I was thinking of doing this one for Pride. If
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: not Pride, Halloween. I think this would be better for
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Halloween because I'm not going to have enough time to
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: read this.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, now do it for Halloween because Halloween we will
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: be strictly just for horror and in my case, gay
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: horror and whatever else. And of course, the Asterion book.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: But yeah, no, keep that for Halloween because there's five
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: episodes in, wait, one, two, three, yeah, five episodes in October.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: I definitely will have this done for them. And then
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: I may or may not read that Roku book Alex
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: gave me. I might read that later. Because this was
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: the book that both you and James got him, and
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: he was like, well, I don't really want to return it,
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: but here, you can keep it. And I was like, okay, cool,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I'll keep it. But I think this was, what, the
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: second book in the series?
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: The Reckoning of Roku?
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: I think so, yeah.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: So if I read this, eventually come around to reading it,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: it's going to be like... I'm actually just going to
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: read it after I read the first one. So I
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: can actually get the whole story.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: And then.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Oh, the Godzilla books, yeah.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, this one's the one I got, I originally had,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: and then I found out, oh, it's a part of
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: a book series.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: A four book series.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Now you have three of them, and you just have
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: to hunt down the last one.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: There were supposed to be five, but the thing is
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: that the fifth one was going to be released around
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: the time that the Matthew Broderick Godzilla film came out.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: But because of how bad that movie did, Toho canceled
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: all of the copyrights and like the licensing, they were like,
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: you guys suck. They straight up just like, we're just
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: going to, we're going to go and just like, we're
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: going to take these back. You don't deserve these.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Now you just need to find the last one that
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: you can have a whole month of Godzilla. There.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: I know where the last one is. Like I can
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: only get it online. Cause they don't, I've been to
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: like multiple bookstores all over San Antonio.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I've been to all the bookstores in San Antonio.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: That's a lot. I haven't been to all of them,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: but the thing is that you can only find those
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: in used bookstores because these are from the 90s. These
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: were published in the 90s, so they're over 30 years old. Well,
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: they're pushing 30 years old. Because they were published a
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: long ago, and they were also published on a limited release.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: There's not many of them, and the ones that are
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: left are very rare and very expensive. One of the
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: two that I just bought was like $ 99. And I
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: thought it was supposed to come with three of them
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: because the listing on Amazon, it had a picture of
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: all three books, right? That I didn't have. And I thought, oh,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: I'll get all three of them. Like me, not actually
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: reading the, like me, like getting excited and not actually
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: reading the damn, like listing itself.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Just like, just impulse bought it. And then I got it.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: And then I went back and looked at it and
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: was like, what is, what is actually coming in this?
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: And then I saw the listing was just for Godzilla returns.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: And I was like, I'm a fucking idiot. Oh, well I,
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I got, I'm getting one of them. I already knew
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: they were going to be expensive. And then I went out, I,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: that's when I started like hunting for them in like
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: the local, like used bookstores. Like we have a bookstore
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: here in San Antonio called half price books, or like
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: you can go and sell old books and buy used,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: used and old books. They have a lot of good
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: stuff there. I went there, asked them like, Hey, do
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: you have any books by this author? Cause I didn't
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: want to like straight up ask him, like, do you
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: have these Godzilla books? Yeah. Like a fucking nerd. And
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: she looked him up and she's like, Oh yeah, we
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: actually have two books, but they're at a different store.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, cool, cool, cool. Which, which store
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: is that again? And they said, and they told me
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: the store and I was like, all right, cool. Like
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: just me, just like sprinting to my car and then
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: like zooming, like, The two stores that I was at,
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: the one that I was at and asked them, do
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: they have this book? And they were like, no, but
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: this other store has it. The other store was on
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: literally the other side of the city.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Of course.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: On the other side of the city. Like a good
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: 25-minute drive away.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: It was worth the time.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: San Antonio's big, y'all. One does not go from one
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: half of the city to the other.
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: It's a drive.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: It's a it's a like a long ass commute just
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: to get from one place to the city to the other.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: And like I was on the north side of San Antonio.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: The bookstore that I was at was on the was
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: on like the north side of San Antonio, which was
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: like not that far, like like right down the street
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: from the San Antonio airport. And the and the location
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: that they said had the book I was looking for
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: was on the far west side of San Antonio. Okay,
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: like San Antonio has like three major high, like three,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: like the way San Antonio.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Is laid out.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: When I get there, they're like, oh, someone else already
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: bought it. Like they literally just bought it before you.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Let me tell you something that has happened to me
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: so many times in my life that now I feel
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: like anytime I'm looking for something, I have to do
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: it spontaneously. I have to be very spontaneous about it, right?
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: I can't plan it out. I can't say, okay, I'll
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: go later this week to go pick it up, right?
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it'll still be there. Nope. As soon
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: as I find out it's there, I'm going to get it. Like,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: and I don't even let them bitches know. I'll just, like,
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I ask them, like, do they have this at this other,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: they're like, do you have it? And they say, no,
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: it's at this other store, though. Like, oh, okay, cool.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Act like an all-natural out of that. Like, okay, cool.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: All right, well, if I can, I'll go. Like, not even, like,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: hint that I'm going to go. Like, that's exactly where
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: I'm going to go. And then as soon as I'm
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: out of sight, vroom, vroom. managed to get it and
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: i'm glad like where they had it like they had
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: it in a collector's section like a vintage selection and
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: it was in a it was actually in like a
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: clear plastic uh like covering and like i'm glad they
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: put it in the section they did because i could
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: not find it and i had to ask the attendant
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: at the at that store like do you guys have
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: this book and they're like oh yeah it's in this
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: section i was like oh thank god it's hidden there
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: Cause if someone else found it, cause the thing about
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: San Antonio is that San Antonio has a lot of
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: people like me who love Godzilla, even though like, we're
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: still like a small community. Like I'm, I rarely meet
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: other people as obsessed with Godzilla like me, but yet
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: somehow we have a huge community of people here that,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: or it's just one other guy here who also there's like,
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure there's one other like avid Godzilla fan
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: here in the city. At the very least there's one
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: other guy here, just like me, who's like an avid collector.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Because that bitch has been pulling the rug under me
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: for years. I don't know who this dude is. I
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: don't know who they are. He or she, I don't
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: know who they are. But they always seem to beat
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: me to these collectibles. Anytime I want to look for
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: a specific collector's item, and I know I can afford
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: it and buy it, I go to get it, and
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: it's gone. Because that other bitch got to it before
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: I did. I don't know who they are, but for
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: years it's been a competition. Let's see if I can
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: get it or if this other dude can get it.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: And when I get it, I'm just like, suck it, bitch.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Period.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: But that's what's looking forward to for the latter half
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: of the year. Join us next time as we talk
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: about gay shit. Lots of gay shit.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Yas.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: So until then, bye.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Bye.
